4. The county town with its 76 500 inhabitants, is situated at 100 km East
of Budapest, where rivers Tisza and Zagyva meet, at the water, land
and rail hub of the Great Plain. The town is connected to the capital
with main transport route No. 4 and a busy railway line.
It is a county seat, that is Szolnok is the economic, transport, trade,
education and tourist centre of the region and it is – at the same time –
a busy water crossing.
It is a historic town with rich historic and cultural traditions first
mentioned in 1075. The second railway line was built here in 1847.
Its economic role is significant because of it accessibility, educational
function and machine industry.
The settlement can be reached on highway 4 from Budapest and
Debrecen; highway No. 32 from the North and No. 442 of Martfű from
the South are the most important roads. The town can be equally
accessed by railway lines Budapest-Cegléd-Szolnok, Budapest-Újszász-
Szolnok, Hatvan-Szolnok, Vámosgyörk-Újszász-Szolnok,
Záhony-Nyíregyháza-Debrecen-Szolnok-Budapest, Curtici-
Lőkösháza-Békéscsaba-Szolnok-Budapest, Makó-Hódmezővásárhely-
Szolnok and Kiskunfélegyháza-Szolnok.
5. The Park is situated at the favourably located site of Szolnok, surrounded by Abonyi street and
Nagysándor József street, and the railway line Budapest-Újszász-Szolnok.
The area of the Park had served for land recovery before 2000, but due to its location and the lack of
topsoil it could not be utilized.
The present form of the industrial park is the result of the complete territorial development of the past
decade, where the previous area which could not have been utilized for agricultural purposes, became
a business environment providing complete services by now.
Regulation plan of the Industrial Park was elaborated in 2005 and it is followed by further steps of
development.
Road and public utility network (driveway, gas, water, electricity, precipitation water drainage and
telecommunication) of the 46-hectare development area were finished during 2011 and 2013.
Construction of 6 buildings with 10.000 square meters of area for renting is being performed during
2011 and 2014.
The image and the focus areas of the park are greatly influenced by the concepts of the companies
intending to settle here, including by now renewable energy production, services based on professional
IT infrastructure, technological and innovation central projects.
According to our future plans an annual 5000 square metres of territorial expansion for renting and
realization of about 5 hectares per year can be accounted for.
