USE OF RUBRICS IN AN EDO “FACE
TO FACE” SESSION
Workshop objectives
 To know about the concept about rubrics and the
benefits of using them for teachers and students.
• To exemplify with the use of the rubrics in the
assesss of speaking and writing activities in EDO
sessions.
Role play Scenario N°01
Setting : English class
Characters: The english teacher / students
Situation: The English teacher enters the class and
greets the students. The teacher tells the class that
today they will have an oral presentation that will be
assessed. She asks the students to open their books
and practice the conversation on page 21 (Talking
about daily routine). After ten minutes, the teacher
starts asking for volunteers. As the students are
performing the dialog, the teacher praises the students
and assigns a score without using any scoring tool.
Some students are not satisfied with the given score
and start complaining. The teacher has not arguments
to support the score.
Scenario N°02
Setting : English class
Characters: The english teacher / students
Situation: The English teacher enters the class
and greets the students. The teacher tells the class
that today they will write a composition about
themselves giving personal information (name, age,
preferences, etc). The teacher also hands in the
rubrics for the students to know what indicators are
going to be assessed in the task.
Next day, the teacher gives the papers back with the
score. The students seems to be satisfied with the
score obtained.
