Descriptive Story Of Adeline
The sun s ebullient flares twisted to the ground, reflecting on the Michigan lake. A gentle breeze
ruffled through the grass, catching dandelions and releasing them to the sky The sun was shyly
peeking out from behind the mountain and painting the sky brilliant splotches of orange and pink. The
leaves fluttering in the air greeted the clouds. A gaping opening in the mountains led to a small town,
leading to a small house neatly tucked away beneath a Sequoia tree. The houses bricks were painted a
lovely shade of yellow. Flowers were planted in the beautifully manicured lawn. Adeline awoke to the
sun projecting through her large window with paisley curtains. She stretched out her arms and glided
to the window. Adeline was enthralled by the sky draped in staggering colors. Her red alarm clock
interrupted the magnificent view. Adeline! her mother called in a sing songy voice. Breakfast is ready!
Adeline slipped on a white skirt, a blue jean jacket, and a flowery yellow shirt. A grand breakfast was
laid across the table, calling Adeline s name. A stack of buttermilk pancakes sat proudly on a plate,
drenched in maple syrup and topped with a slab of butter. Bacon omitted a delicious odor and an
omelette dotted with tomatoes and mushrooms sat next to it. A yogurt parfait bar had strawberry
yogurt, granola, fruit, and toasted coconut. Wow, Mother! Adeline exclaimed. You ve really outdone
yourself! Adeline took a seat and laid her checkered napkin on her lap. She took a

How Does Friar Lawrence Affect Romeo And Juliet
(TOPIC SENTENCE) (THESIS III) Friar Laurence affects the outcome of the play with his
insufficient choices by (MAJOR A) marrying Romeo and Juliet (MAJOR B) and fleeing Juliet s
tombstone. (REWORDING OF MAJOR A) At the beginning of the storyline, Friar Laurence makes
the decision to marry Romeo and Juliet, without thinking of the consequences or problems that would
soon come in store for the newly found lovers. (MINOR 1 FOR MA) Friar Laurence rather takes the
easy way out because he never tries to help Romeo and Juliet reveal to their families their love for
each other. For instance, Friar Laurence states, Come, come with me, and we will make short work, /
For, by your leaves, you shall not stay alone / Till holy church incorporate two in one (2.6.35 37). ...

(MINOR 2 FOR MA) If Friar Laurence had not married Romeo and Juliet, he could have encouraged
them to confront their families about their complex love situation. In addition, Friar Laurence s secret
plan would not have taken place, which easily went wrong by causing the death of three characters.
(REWORDING OF MAJOR B) Another terrible decision Friar Laurence makes is when he runs away
from Juliet s tombstone even when she needs him the most. (MINOR 1 FOR MB) Friar Laurence flees
the scene because he hears the watch coming and does not want to them to perceive that he caused the
death of Paris and Romeo. For example, he states, Stay not to question, for the watch is coming. /
Come, go, good Juliet, I dare no longer stay (5.3.158 159). Unfortunately, after Friar Laurence leaves,
Juliet attempts to kill herself in two different ways. At first, she tries to kiss Romeo to consume some
of the poison from his lips, but since it did not work, she stabs herself with his

Arts Integration Research Paper
The idea of arts integration is a topic widely used by arts advocates in schools to gain support and
understanding from the community, though not many people understand what it means, exactly. The
term arts integration is a teaching approach that incorporates the different arts disciplines to direct a
better, and more well rounded learning environment ( Metla). By integrating the arts into learning, the
school systems broaden the traditional ideas of education which then helps to produce a more creative
community. The schools and teachers use different ways to integrate the arts which include using the
arts as their own separate courses or incorporating them into all of the separate classes (Arts Edge).
The decision of which one of the ways will be used, or whether both will be used, is chosen by the
individual schools based on educational standards and money. ... Show more content on

The pairing of arts integration in the classrooms and a structured arts rich learning environment is the
most effective way for students to fully express their creativity and to thrive in academic studies; but,
even though using both tactics is the best way, it is not used as often as the majority of school systems
place a greater importance on standardized testing based subjects. Kennedy Center for the Performing
Arts stated that the integration of the arts is an approach to teaching where the students can construct
and demonstrate an understanding through the usage of an art form. This approach engages the
students in a way that builds their creative processes and connects the subjects together more
cohesively. This cohesion is why arts integration is of importance for the schools systems, which have
increased scores, and the students, which not only enjoy their education but also learn and understand

Powers of the United States Congress as Established by the...
The United States Congress was established by the Constitution to be the legislature branch of the
Government as distinguished from the executive branch which is headed by the President and the
judiciary. The system is organized in order for each of the branches to act as a check and balance on
each of the other branches (Moyers, 1987). This check and balance nature of the system often results
in creating friction between the branches but this was precisely the purpose behind the Founding
Fathers setting the system up in this manner. The theory was that this would diminish the possibility of
any one branch becoming too powerful in relation to the other branches. Congress, like the other two
branches of the U.S. government, is limited to exercising only the powers specifically granted the
Constitution. The powers granted Congress are enumerated in several different locations in the
Constitution but the majority of its powers are set forth in Article I. The first of Congress enumerated
powers is its authority to regulate commerce among the several states. Since first being addressed by
the U.S. Supreme Court in the landmark case of Gibbons v. Ogden (Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824) the
power of Congress to engage itself in the operation of interstate commerce has been expanded, over
time, to the point where Congress power to regulate commerce now includes any activities that
substantially affects interstate commerce. One of Congress most significant powers is the authority

The American Work, The Great Gatsby By F. Scott Fitzgerald
To many of us writing can be a daunting task, and often more complicated than it should be, but, as
stated by famed American author Ernest Hemingway, There is nothing to writing, All you do is sit
down at a typewriter and bleed . The fact of the matter is, eventually blood clots, and scabs form. It s
the same in writing; many authors bleed onto a page and use their metaphorical blood as ink, thus
placing a piece of themselves into their work. But, no matter how great the author, eventually writer
block ensues, casting a writer into a literary funk and halting the flow of thematic ideas; however,
themes such as love and wealth transcend time, culture, and language. So it s not difficult to think that
famed authors, when in a pinch, often recycle broad themes to create a more compelling and relatable
story. In the American work, The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald and its cinematic counterpart,
directed by Baz Lutherman, themes such as wealth, love, isolation, and dissatisfaction are used to
create a novel that still holds parallels to the world of today.
The theme of wealth is prevalent in the works of the The Great Gatsby. The wealthy are portrayed as
educated businessmen who have found a prosperous niche, often illegally. Persons with enough
money are held in higher esteem than their middle class compatriots. In Gatsby s world money buys
social acceptance, and it also grants living in the world without repercussions. In chapter four of The
Great Gatsby, Gatsby, on his

do not need any type of license to do this type of work. What exactly is JUDICIAL JUDGMENT
RECOVERY? First let s call it JJR for short. Then let s break it down one word at a time. 2
A) JUDICIAL means (in this case) a legal court of law . B) JUDGMENT means the determination
of the court , a legal obligation as determined by the judge. C) RECOVERY means the act of
becoming lost). If you know what a court order is then you already have a good idea. A court order is
pretty much a judicial judgment in that they both mean, in essence, As Ordered By The Court . So
what does it mean to us? It means that when one person (the plaintiff), sues another person (the
defendant), in small claims court, and wins, it s because the court ordered the defendant, now known
as the judgment debtor, to pay the plaintiff, usually, a said dollar amount. So now the plaintiff is
awarded a piece of paper proclaiming them a judgment winner. But are they really the winner? The
easy part was winning the case. Now comes the difficult part, and that is getting the judgment debtor
to actually pay up. You see, the court cannot collect the money for the judgment winners. It is actually
up to the judgment winners to collect their own judgments. But with no pressure to

Victor Frankenstein Knowledge Analysis
It is a man s own mind, not his enemy or foe, that lures him to evil ways (Buddha). Frankenstein, by
Mary Shelley, is a science fiction novel about knowledge. In the novel, Victor Frankenstein spends
years creating a creature from dead bodies. Upon the completion of his project, he immediately
abandons the creature leaving him to discover humanity on his own. In Mary Shelley s novel, both
Frankenstein and his creature are on a search for knowledge, though the quest is executed in opposite
ways: Frankenstein wields his knowledge, while the creature innocently desires it, proving
Frankenstein to be the real monster.
Victor s thirst for knowledge leads to a skewed perspective of reality. He willingly ignores his health

It was with these feelings that I began the creation of a human being (Shelly 48). In creating a living
being, Victor is attempting to usurp God s authority. Essentially, Victor is claiming to not need God
because he can get through, and even create, life on his own. Frankenstein uses his knowledge to gain
power; A new species would bless me as it s creator and source; many happy and excellent natures
would owe their being to me (Shelley 49). Additionally, Victor uses his knowledge to bring him closer
becoming omnipotent. He covets power. He wants to elevate himself. Frankenstein s longing for
power reaches a point of extreme unhealthiness. He wants to be worshiped. Victor Frankenstein wields
his knowledge attempting to become like God.
Frankenstein s creature cannot be the monster because his desire for knowledge comes out of a
position of innocence. Upon first breath, he is muddled and confused; No distinct ideas occupied my
mind; all was confused. I felt light, and hunger, and thirst, and darkness; innumerable sounds sang in
my ears, and on all sides various scents saluted me (Shelley 98).

Essay Comparing Frankenstein And The Picture Of Dorian Gray
Creators are the Real Monsters Mary Shelley s Frankenstein and Oscar Wilde s The Picture of Dorian
Gray both have a creator and a monster; however, the books contain two different opinions of what it
means to be monstrous, in which Henry realizes his power over Dorian and Frankenstein abandons his
creation. These creations had no choice in the way they turned out because they were made and
molded by their creators, which in turn makes the creators that gave them life the real monsters. The
works of Frankenstein and The Picture of Dorian Gray give clear warnings to a creator foretelling that
if they fail to be responsible in providing their own creation with an appropriate upbringing, The
Creation will fail and thus turn into a monster. Mary Shelley tells the story of a scientist named Victor
Frankenstein that devotes himself to creating life from the dead and defy the laws of nature.
Frankenstein does in fact succeed at this task, but his creation is not what he had hoped for; in his
words I had desired it with an ardour that far exceeded ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

two men both have totally different hopes for what the young Dorian will become. Basil is so
intrigued by his pureness that he offers to paint a portrait of him, but while being painted, it is Lord
Henry that Dorian takes a strong interest in. During this time is when one can see Lord Henry s
obsession with beauty because he stresses to Dorian that his good looks will not last forever, which

An Analysis Of Shirley Jackson And The Lottery
Many people are following crowds all over the world. Some crowds are not the best to follow yet
people still follow them. Following a crowd can be misleading and can also l have consequences. The
Lottery by Shirley Jackson takes place in a small village on June 27th, with about 300 people. The
characters in the short story are Bobby, Harry Jones, Dickie Delacroix, Mr. Summers, and Mr.
Hutchinson. The main idea of First They Came... by Martin Niemoller, is standing up for what is right
isn t always the easiest path. I believe that following a crowd, and standing up for what is right is not
always the right path or easiest path.
To begin with, The Lottery by Shirley Jackson is different than First They Came... by Martin
Niemoller because the themes are not the same The Lottery conveys that following a crowd can lead
to consequences; for example, in paragraph 19, All ready? he called. Now, I ll read the names heads of
families first and the men come up and take a paper out of the box. In other words, this shows that all
of the people of the town participated in the traditional game. In paragraph 77, Tessie Hutchinson was
in the center of a cleared space by now, and she held her hands out desperately as the villagers moved
in on her. It isn t fair, she said. A stone hit her on the side of the head. In this paragraph Tessie
Hutchinson is about to get stoned to death because she picked the slip of paper that had the black dot
on it. Also, in paragraph 15 it states

Feminism In A Midsummer Night s Dream
Shakespeare may be the most known playwright of all time, however, you may be surprised at how
many unfair stereotypes this very famous writer incorporated into his plays. A Midsummer Night s
Dream is a comedy play written by William Shakespeare in the late 1500s that portrays events
surrounding the marriage of Theseus, the Duke of Athens, to the extravagant Hippolyta, the former
queen of the Amazons. Such events included Demetrius jilting Helena at the altar and falling in love
with Helena s rival instead, Hermia. However, Hermia is in love with Lysander, not a disdainful youth
known as Demetrius. According to feminist theory, the theory that focuses on gender inequality. A
Midsummer Night s Dream would not be considered a feminist empowerment play because
throughout the play Shakespeare portrays women as timid/easily frightened. He shows men having
more power than women, and perpetuates the unfair stereotype that all women must act a certain way.
Firstly, A Midsummer Night s Dream is a feminist disempowerment play is because women are
repeatedly portrayed as easily frightened. For example, If you roar to ferociously, you ll scare the
duchess and the other ladies and make them scream, (AMND, 1.2.29). Quince is saying that the ladies
in the audience and Hippolyta, the queen of the Amazons, a woman who hunted a bear with Hercules,
will be afraid of an actor dressed as a lion saying ROAR. In addition, Quince only directs this
comment towards the ladies, not the men. This

Essay about Religious Paths
Religious Paths
While examining different religious paths within Hinduism from the perspective of four patterns of
transcendence (ancestral, cultural, mythical and experiential) it is interesting to see how each pattern
found its dominance over four segments of Hinduism: Vedic sacrifice, the way of action, the way of
devotion and the way of knowledge.
When Hinduism originated as a religion it was mainly concerned with sacrifices for ancestors. The
sacred texts called the Vedas on which Hinduism was based were the main root of the many different
branches of Hindu philosophy. The Vedas originated around 1400 1200 BC. They consisted of several
different documents, the oldest of them called the Rigveda. The Rigveda is considered to ... Show

Eventually the attempts of the Vedic texts to satisfy people s need to have contact with the sacred
reality have become insufficient. Even though the sacrifice was a way to
3 control the cosmos and insure well being in the world of ancestors, it did not provide the means of
liberation from the realm of maya: reality which Hindus lived in but thought of it as an illusion.
Following the age of Vedas people of Hinduism looked for happiness through the way of action. The
way of action could be very well considered an example of cultural transcendence. The main doctrine
of such philosophy told that one must do all the tasks presented to him/her by the place in society and
social status; and the result of such rightful life would be the rebirth into a better social position.
With time the way of action philosophy became less satisfactory for its followers, since it seemed to
lack the total liberation from the infinite cycle of death and rebirth.
As Hindu religion became more complicated and people began to look for total liberation from the
circle of death and rebirth the segment of Hinduism known as the way of devotion came into
existence. Followers of the way of devotion based their beliefs on the myths about gods such as Shiva,
Vishnu and Krishna. These gods were believed to be a manifestation of ultimate reality. Believers in
the way of devotion were supposed to worship their god through sacrifices and rituals devoting their
lives to the belief

Silence And The Avoidance Of Persecution
Silence and the Avoidance of Persecution
In the film Silence, the characters of Kichijiro, Rodrigues, and Ferreira illustrate the idea that a person
s outward actions fail at conveying their inward beliefs. Throughout the film, Kichijiro consistently
claims that he is a Christian but then denies Christ whenever serious opposition arises. However, the
film uses the discovery of Kichijiro s crucifix at the end of the film and his continuous declarations to
Father Rodrigues of, Forgive me Father for I have sinned, as a method of suggesting that even though
Kichijiro outwardly apostated many times, he still had a strong faith on the inside. Moreover, the
character of Rodrigues extends the film s theme through the line, Even if God had been silent my
whole life to this very day everything I do, everything I ve done, speaks of Him, and through his
possession of a crucifix when his body underwent cremation. The aforementioned quote and the
possession of the crucifix illustrate that even though Rodrigues committed the act of apostasy he never
truly apostatized in his heart. Finally, when the fallen priest Ferreira mentions to Rodrigues, Only our
Lord can judge your heart, it evidences that even though Ferreira openly apostated and helped the

Introduction Through the city of Waterloo flows a stream named Laurel Creek that originates from
well north of the city, and as it flows into Silver Lake, it provides a home for many organisms both on
land and in the water. This stream has been heavily influenced by human construction, and has a
number of reservoirs along its path. As the water moves downstream towards more populated areas, it
becomes a sink for waste coming from many sources along the way. To monitor the health of Laurel
Creek, indicator species such as benthic invertebrates that reside in the water are collected to
determine the current status of the stream. The purpose of this study is to determine the best location
to collect samples of invertebrates in relationship to the stream morphology of Laurel Creek. The
results from this study could then be used on other locations suffering the same problem in Waterloo.
These areas can then be observed to determine if a solution can be found to decrease pollution,

Doha Round
DOHA ROUND The Doha Development Round or Doha Development Agenda (DDA) is the current
trade negotiation round of the World Trade Organization (WTO) which commenced in November
2001. Its objective is to lower trade barriers around the world, which will help facilitate the increase of
global trade. The Doha Round began with a ministerial level meeting in Doha, Qatar in 2001.
Subsequent ministerial meetings took place in Cancún, Mexico (2003), and Hong Kong (2005).
Related negotiations took place in Geneva, Switzerland (2004, 2006, 2008); Paris, France (2005); and
Potsdam, Germany (2007). The most recent round of negotiations, 23 29 July 2008, broke down after
failing to reach a compromise on agricultural import rules.[3] After the ... Show more content on

At the same time, there never was much overlap between the stated goals of the Round, and the actual
room for manoeuvre afforded negotiators. Similarly, there will be little overlap between the real
causes of the collapse, and the recriminations to follow. In short, the negotiations: framed issues for a
world that no longer exists, required actions that developing countries are unwilling to undertake, and
fell victim to a shift in WTO Member composition and behavior that makes members increasingly
hesitant to make concessions in the WTO where the MFN clause means that a concession to relatively
small players like Chile or Australia is automatically extended to China and

Sabotage Your Goal
So many people argue that you need to be realistic when you re setting your goals. With dedication,
persistence, and time, you can accomplish any goal you put your mind to doing so. Anything you
decide you will be able to accomplish the biggest or the small goals you set. No matter how big of one
you will be able to complete the goal. I believe that with dedication, persistence, and time, people can
accomplish any goal that they put their mind into doing.
Many people give up on their goals before they even reach it. Some people like to sabotage
themselves by not finishing the goal they have set. For example, you know ahead of time when you
sabotage your goal before it even reaches you. Also, many people will lie and tell other people that

Bob Knowlton
I. PLANTEAMIENTO DEL PROBLEMA

The Importance of the Chief Information Officer Essay
The Chief Information Officer is also known by the title Information Technology Director. According
to the US Department of Labor, Chief Information Officers are responsible for the overall
technological direction of their organizations. (bls.gov). Contained within their various functions the
Chief Information Officer has the ability to conduct the hiring of Information Technology
professionals and other support personnel that can ably assist in accomplishing information
technology related projects.
Being the highest senior executive accountable for Information Technology (IT) and computer
systems, they also have administrative functions such as creation and implementation of policies and
procedures. Likewise, the CIO directly handles ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not surprisingly, a majority of the time technical implementation is actually done by junior officers
since the Chief Information Officer is developing long term plans for the enterprise.
Indeed, the Chief Information Officer brings added value to an organization in many ways aside from
holding senior administrative functions. Former Chief Information Officer of NHS UK revealed in his
article that Chief Information Officers have many concerns aside from developing IT for an enterprise.
A Chief Information Officer can be burdened even by issues such as cost cutting, leadership, security
issues, satisfying customers, managing change and even organizational politics especially for
government agencies (McGinn, 2007). This just demonstrates exactly how challenging the functions
are for a Chief Information Officer. His/her accountability goes beyond IT but provides support to the
whole enterprise as well.
According to an article titled Current and Future Challenges: The Chief Information Officer Mastering
the Power of Information , Chief Information Officers do not only manage IT resources and
operations, they can also be an enabler of business change (leadershipexpertise.com). Primarily, they
enable such changes by improving existing business processes and discovering ways to achieve
leverage against competitors. This would mean seeking solutions that would please customers and
employees as well.

Mexican Restaurant Research Paper
Best Authentic Mexican Restaurants in Little Rock
Everyone has their own favorite type of cuisine. Common favorites range from American, to Italian, to
Chinese, and for me, Mexican. I spent one year in Arkansas at Little Rock and found the best Mexican
restaurant in the area. Currently, I have tried eight different Mexican restaurants, which include both
Tex Mex and Authentic Mexican Restaurants. I picked my top four favorite authentic Mexican
restaurants to review and critique based on price, menu, service, house salsa, and appearance to help
peoples, as future customers, decide which restaurant is the best choice for them.
For all four restaurants none of them are entirely overpriced. In terms of bang, buck Riviera Maya is
best option. He/she pay $8 $9 for a quality burrito that he/she can only finish about half of. Taqueria
Karina Cafe is pricier, but for the amount of food a person get and how fantastic the quality is, it is
worth the few extra dollars compared to the other restaurants. Senor Tequilas is very cheap, but the
customers pay for what they get which is a smaller portion of food at a lower quality. Lastly, El Porton
was $8 for a 6 inch quesadilla which I would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Each plate is either served with a side of rice and beans or a bed of lettuce with guacamole, sour
cream, and a tomato. As a customer and reviewer I cannot judge the taste of food on appearance at
Mexican restaurants. Although the moment I saw Taqueria Karina and Riviera Maya s food I knew it
was going to taste heavenly, just by how full and even overflowing the plates were. El Porton knows
how to spice up a website to attract customers, but do not let fool the customers. The food does not
look like this in the restaurant. Most online reviews rave that for the price Senõr Tequilas has great
drinks, and they do look phenomenal. That cannot be said for their food. They do not even post photos

Essay On African American Family
Although most African Americans in the United States are Protestant, 78% compared with only 51%
of the United States as a whole. I will note that Protestantism in the U.S. and in the black community
is not homogenous. It is divided among three main steam traditions, evangelical Protestant churches,
mainline Protestant churches and historically black Protestant churches.
Other similarities that African Americans and Lebanese Americans share are their love for food and
family. African Americans love to eat, as do Lebanese Americans and what better way to do this than
at a family gathering. I have several Lebanese families that live on my block and at least monthly they
have a family gathering that includes each family member arriving with food (usually potluck style).
Ironically, my family also gathers frequently and has potluck dinners. Both cultures love desserts and

decided by the family with attention to its overall interest, (American Studies Journal). Where most or
should I say some, African Americans, although we share rituals and traditions, they are not kept
among the family. Some African American families stand behind their children to help them fulfill
higher learning, but many African American families tend not to be involved in the profession or

Comparing Judaism, Christianity, And Islam
Throughout the world there are many different religions. Each religion is special in their own way, and
all of them differ from each other. Among these religions are three major religions, which I am going
to compare and contrast in this essay. These religions are Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. These
religions are different and have separate beliefs, but are alike in many ways. The first religion I will
begin to talk about is Christianity. Christianity is a monotheistic religion that was founded by
followers of Jesus, who is believed to be the Messiah . This means savior of the world. Jesus was born
of a virgin mother; whom god had chosen to birth his only son. Jesus did many miracles and made
many unbelievable claims that he,

Essay on Human Rights in Brazil
Human Rights in Brazil
The population in Brazil consists of 144 million people. Brazil is one of the fastest growing nations in
the Western Hemisphere. Its population is increasing at the rate of about 2 % a year. The constitution
of Brazil gives the president tremendous powers. For example, the president may intervene in affairs
of Brazil s states. The chief executive may even create new states from existing ones.
Brazil has three main ethnic groups whites, blacks, and people of mixed ancestry. Most of the whites
are from Europe. According to the Brazilian government whites make up about 60% of the nation s
population, and people of mixed races form about 30%. However, the government of Brazil counts

The prisoners reported incidents of torture and named the alleged torturers, even though they were in
the same room. The inmates expressed their fears of reprisals from the prison staff. Some of them told
the delegates that the director of the prison had threatened them with severe punishment if they dared
to speak out. The torture they described included beatings, near drowning, death threats and electric
shocks.
In his report on the visit to Recife, one of the delegates, the President of the National Council for
Penal and Prison Policy, noted that despite persistent reports in the local press about ill treatment in
prisons in Pernambuco, the Judge of Penal Sentences and the Secretary of Justice for Pernambuco
claimed to have no official knowledge of the prisoners complaints. He asked the state authorities to
investigate the prisoners allegations, but no information has emerged about any investigation.
Two incidents involving prisoners with AIDS were reported in Sðo Paulo in 1994. On 27 March, a

System, was reportedly beaten by a prison warden. The woman, named Leci Nazareth da Silva, who
was in great pain, was calling for the assistance of a nurse when, just after midnight, a warden came to
her cell, shouted at her to shut up, and hit her in the face.

Assess The Goal Of Drug Development
Drug development is the process of bringing a new pharmaceutical drug to the market. The main goal
of drug development is to produce safe and efficacious therapeutic products for the promotion of
health, and the prevention, cure and treatment of disease.
In order to assess the safety and effectiveness of new drugs, they are extensively tested before being
used in isolated cells, tissue slices or organs. Firstly, a new medical drug is tested using computer
models and human cells grown in the laboratory. If the drug passes the first stage it is then tested on
animals. In the UK, new medicines have to undergo these tests, but it is illegal to test cosmetics and
tobacco products on animals.
Animal testing involves giving a known amount of the substance

Jane Austen s Death On The Nile Essay
Society throughout time has held particular values close to their hearts, which people are expected to
respect at all times, though many do not necessarily agree with them. Death on the Nile, written by
Agatha Christie in 1937, is about many upper middle and upper class families enjoying a cruise until a
murder occurred, and the story revolves around the murder case being solved alongside the different
family values and perspectives around the case. Pride and Prejudice, written by Jane Austen in 1813,
tells the story of Elizabeth Bennet, and her relationships between her family and families beyond her
class and the issues that arise between the different class statuses. Agatha Christie and Jane Austen
have similar perspectives on the values that the upper class hold dear, such as gender roles, importance
of social status and reasons for marriage.
Agatha Christie and Jane Austen both reveal the expectations for women in their novels in terms of
behaviour and knowledge. Christie shows through her male characters what the male dominant society
expects of women. Simon Doyle is a character who demonstrates the typical man in society, and views
women in a way where they must follow certain rules and behave in a sane, collected manner, for
[t]here s no reason why women shouldn t behave like rational beings, (Christie 77). Simon essentially
summarizes the expectations placed on women. Women must always be rational, always keep up a
good appearance, while men are excused for

Human Development And Development Of Human Language
Humans like to speak our minds. And the language in which we speak is unique, when compared to
the communication between animals. Human language is a complex communication system consisting
of the creation, acquisition, and development of sound patterns using complex motor control. Though
how is it that we can do this? What makes humans so different from other animals, even those
genetically close to us such as Neanderthals, that we are able to speak and comprehend complex
syntax. Turns out, the answer could be more biological than we think: Involving our genes.
The first gene discovered to be directly involved in the acquisition and development of speech and
language was the Forkhead Box Protein (FOXP2). This gene, located on chromosome 7, appeared
during the development of the brain, heart, lungs, and guts in both fetal and adult humans. The FOXP2
protein is what s known as a transcription factor, meaning that it works to regulate the expression of
other genes throughout the body, similar to how an on off switch regulates a light. Orthologs of the
FOXP2 gene have been found in other mammals, but the human FOXP2 is unique. While it is
believed that hundreds of genes have their activities regulated by this protein, only a select few have
been identified. Of the genes mapped, many have been connected to the human capacity for language
and speech.
Mutations of the FOXP2 in humans cause critical language and speech disorders, disorders such as
Developmental Verbal Dyspraxia. Developmental Verbal Dyspraxia is a condition in which children
struggle to coordinate the complex motor movements need to produce clear speech with their mouths.
These children do not have any nerve or tissue damage, nor any cognitive disabilities. It was the study
of this disorder, through an English family known as the KE Family, that the FOXP2 gene was first
discovered. The case of the KE Family was studied through the Institute of Child Health at the
University London College, though research was carried out throughout the years at different
universities. For instance, it was Myma Gopnik, a linguistics professor with McGill University, who
hypothesized that causation of Developmental Verbal Dyspraxia was not through any cognitive or

According Michael Stelzner in the 2015 Social Media Marketing Industry Report, the top two benefits
of social media marketing is to increase exposure and traffic with 90 percent of marketers citing and
77 percent reporting increased traffic. Another 69 percent use social media marketing to develop loyal
fans (Stelzener, 2015). For instance: As long as the publicity is out there it is likely positive to get
consumers immediately through a global database. In a copy of Communication World last year;
Angelo Fernando talked about this issue of getting people talking about your brand and the main focus
was to create brand awareness and increase traffic:
Let s say, you are attending to a place with a pleasant social environment. You walk in with a box of

  • 2. Descriptive Story Of Adeline The sun s ebullient flares twisted to the ground, reflecting on the Michigan lake. A gentle breeze ruffled through the grass, catching dandelions and releasing them to the sky The sun was shyly peeking out from behind the mountain and painting the sky brilliant splotches of orange and pink. The leaves fluttering in the air greeted the clouds. A gaping opening in the mountains led to a small town, leading to a small house neatly tucked away beneath a Sequoia tree. The houses bricks were painted a lovely shade of yellow. Flowers were planted in the beautifully manicured lawn. Adeline awoke to the sun projecting through her large window with paisley curtains. She stretched out her arms and glided to the window. Adeline was enthralled by the sky draped in staggering colors. Her red alarm clock interrupted the magnificent view. Adeline! her mother called in a sing songy voice. Breakfast is ready! Adeline slipped on a white skirt, a blue jean jacket, and a flowery yellow shirt. A grand breakfast was laid across the table, calling Adeline s name. A stack of buttermilk pancakes sat proudly on a plate, drenched in maple syrup and topped with a slab of butter. Bacon omitted a delicious odor and an omelette dotted with tomatoes and mushrooms sat next to it. A yogurt parfait bar had strawberry yogurt, granola, fruit, and toasted coconut. Wow, Mother! Adeline exclaimed. You ve really outdone yourself! Adeline took a seat and laid her checkered napkin on her lap. She took a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How Does Friar Lawrence Affect Romeo And Juliet (TOPIC SENTENCE) (THESIS III) Friar Laurence affects the outcome of the play with his insufficient choices by (MAJOR A) marrying Romeo and Juliet (MAJOR B) and fleeing Juliet s tombstone. (REWORDING OF MAJOR A) At the beginning of the storyline, Friar Laurence makes the decision to marry Romeo and Juliet, without thinking of the consequences or problems that would soon come in store for the newly found lovers. (MINOR 1 FOR MA) Friar Laurence rather takes the easy way out because he never tries to help Romeo and Juliet reveal to their families their love for each other. For instance, Friar Laurence states, Come, come with me, and we will make short work, / For, by your leaves, you shall not stay alone / Till holy church incorporate two in one (2.6.35 37). ... (MINOR 2 FOR MA) If Friar Laurence had not married Romeo and Juliet, he could have encouraged them to confront their families about their complex love situation. In addition, Friar Laurence s secret plan would not have taken place, which easily went wrong by causing the death of three characters. (REWORDING OF MAJOR B) Another terrible decision Friar Laurence makes is when he runs away from Juliet s tombstone even when she needs him the most. (MINOR 1 FOR MB) Friar Laurence flees the scene because he hears the watch coming and does not want to them to perceive that he caused the death of Paris and Romeo. For example, he states, Stay not to question, for the watch is coming. / Come, go, good Juliet, I dare no longer stay (5.3.158 159). • 4. Arts Integration Research Paper The idea of arts integration is a topic widely used by arts advocates in schools to gain support and understanding from the community, though not many people understand what it means, exactly. The term arts integration is a teaching approach that incorporates the different arts disciplines to direct a better, and more well rounded learning environment ( Metla). By integrating the arts into learning, the school systems broaden the traditional ideas of education which then helps to produce a more creative community. The schools and teachers use different ways to integrate the arts which include using the arts as their own separate courses or incorporating them into all of the separate classes (Arts Edge). The decision of which one of the ways will be used, or whether both will be used, is chosen by the individual schools based on educational standards and money. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The pairing of arts integration in the classrooms and a structured arts rich learning environment is the most effective way for students to fully express their creativity and to thrive in academic studies; but, even though using both tactics is the best way, it is not used as often as the majority of school systems place a greater importance on standardized testing based subjects. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts stated that the integration of the arts is an approach to teaching where the students can construct and demonstrate an understanding through the usage of an art form. This approach engages the students in a way that builds their creative processes and connects the subjects together more cohesively. This cohesion is why arts integration is of importance for the schools systems, which have increased scores, and the students, which not only enjoy their education but also learn and understand more ... • 5. Powers of the United States Congress as Established by the... The United States Congress was established by the Constitution to be the legislature branch of the Government as distinguished from the executive branch which is headed by the President and the judiciary. The system is organized in order for each of the branches to act as a check and balance on each of the other branches (Moyers, 1987). This check and balance nature of the system often results in creating friction between the branches but this was precisely the purpose behind the Founding Fathers setting the system up in this manner. The theory was that this would diminish the possibility of any one branch becoming too powerful in relation to the other branches. Congress, like the other two branches of the U.S. government, is limited to exercising only the powers specifically granted the Constitution. The powers granted Congress are enumerated in several different locations in the Constitution but the majority of its powers are set forth in Article I. The first of Congress enumerated powers is its authority to regulate commerce among the several states. Since first being addressed by the U.S. Supreme Court in the landmark case of Gibbons v. Ogden (Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824) the power of Congress to engage itself in the operation of interstate commerce has been expanded, over time, to the point where Congress power to regulate commerce now includes any activities that substantially affects interstate commerce. • 6. The American Work, The Great Gatsby By F. Scott Fitzgerald To many of us writing can be a daunting task, and often more complicated than it should be, but, as stated by famed American author Ernest Hemingway, There is nothing to writing, All you do is sit down at a typewriter and bleed . The fact of the matter is, eventually blood clots, and scabs form. It s the same in writing; many authors bleed onto a page and use their metaphorical blood as ink, thus placing a piece of themselves into their work. But, no matter how great the author, eventually writer block ensues, casting a writer into a literary funk and halting the flow of thematic ideas; however, themes such as love and wealth transcend time, culture, and language. So it s not difficult to think that famed authors, when in a pinch, often recycle broad themes to create a more compelling and relatable story. In the American work, The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald and its cinematic counterpart, directed by Baz Lutherman, themes such as wealth, love, isolation, and dissatisfaction are used to create a novel that still holds parallels to the world of today. The theme of wealth is prevalent in the works of the The Great Gatsby. The wealthy are portrayed as educated businessmen who have found a prosperous niche, often illegally. Persons with enough money are held in higher esteem than their middle class compatriots. In Gatsby s world money buys social acceptance, and it also grants living in the world without repercussions. Then let s break it down one word at a time. 2 A) JUDICIAL means (in this case) a legal court of law . B) JUDGMENT means the determination of the court , a legal obligation as determined by the judge. C) RECOVERY means the act of becoming lost). If you know what a court order is then you already have a good idea. A court order is pretty much a judicial judgment in that they both mean, in essence, As Ordered By The Court . So what does it mean to us? It means that when one person (the plaintiff), sues another person (the defendant), in small claims court, and wins, it s because the court ordered the defendant, now known as the judgment debtor, to pay the plaintiff, usually, a said dollar amount. So now the plaintiff is awarded a piece of paper proclaiming them a judgment winner. But are they really the winner? The easy part was winning the case. Now comes the difficult part, and that is getting the judgment debtor to actually pay up. You see, the court cannot collect the money for the judgment winners. In Mary Shelley s novel, both Frankenstein and his creature are on a search for knowledge, though the quest is executed in opposite ways: Frankenstein wields his knowledge, while the creature innocently desires it, proving Frankenstein to be the real monster. Essay Comparing Frankenstein And The Picture Of Dorian Gray Creators are the Real Monsters Mary Shelley s Frankenstein and Oscar Wilde s The Picture of Dorian Gray both have a creator and a monster; however, the books contain two different opinions of what it means to be monstrous, in which Henry realizes his power over Dorian and Frankenstein abandons his creation. These creations had no choice in the way they turned out because they were made and molded by their creators, which in turn makes the creators that gave them life the real monsters. The works of Frankenstein and The Picture of Dorian Gray give clear warnings to a creator foretelling that if they fail to be responsible in providing their own creation with an appropriate upbringing, The Creation will fail and thus turn into a monster. Feminism In A Midsummer Night s Dream Shakespeare may be the most known playwright of all time, however, you may be surprised at how many unfair stereotypes this very famous writer incorporated into his plays. A Midsummer Night s Dream is a comedy play written by William Shakespeare in the late 1500s that portrays events surrounding the marriage of Theseus, the Duke of Athens, to the extravagant Hippolyta, the former queen of the Amazons. When Hinduism originated as a religion it was mainly concerned with sacrifices for ancestors. The sacred texts called the Vedas on which Hinduism was based were the main root of the many different branches of Hindu philosophy. The Vedas originated around 1400 1200 BC. Even though the sacrifice was a way to 3 control the cosmos and insure well being in the world of ancestors, it did not provide the means of liberation from the realm of maya: reality which Hindus lived in but thought of it as an illusion. Following the age of Vedas people of Hinduism looked for happiness through the way of action. The way of action could be very well considered an example of cultural transcendence. The main doctrine of such philosophy told that one must do all the tasks presented to him/her by the place in society and social status; and the result of such rightful life would be the rebirth into a better social position. With time the way of action philosophy became less satisfactory for its followers, since it seemed to lack the total liberation from the infinite cycle of death and rebirth. As Hindu religion became more complicated and people began to look for total liberation from the circle of death and rebirth the segment of Hinduism known as the way of devotion came into existence. Followers of the way of devotion based their beliefs on the myths about gods such as Shiva, Vishnu and Krishna. These gods were believed to be a manifestation of ultimate reality. Silence And The Avoidance Of Persecution Silence and the Avoidance of Persecution In the film Silence, the characters of Kichijiro, Rodrigues, and Ferreira illustrate the idea that a person s outward actions fail at conveying their inward beliefs. Throughout the film, Kichijiro consistently claims that he is a Christian but then denies Christ whenever serious opposition arises. However, the film uses the discovery of Kichijiro s crucifix at the end of the film and his continuous declarations to Father Rodrigues of, Forgive me Father for I have sinned, as a method of suggesting that even though Kichijiro outwardly apostated many times, he still had a strong faith on the inside. Moreover, the character of Rodrigues extends the film s theme through the line, Even if God had been silent my whole life to this very day everything I do, everything I ve done, speaks of Him, and through his possession of a crucifix when his body underwent cremation. The aforementioned quote and the possession of the crucifix illustrate that even though Rodrigues committed the act of apostasy he never truly apostatized in his heart. • 26. Mexican Restaurant Research Paper Best Authentic Mexican Restaurants in Little Rock Everyone has their own favorite type of cuisine. Common favorites range from American, to Italian, to Chinese, and for me, Mexican. I spent one year in Arkansas at Little Rock and found the best Mexican restaurant in the area. Currently, I have tried eight different Mexican restaurants, which include both Tex Mex and Authentic Mexican Restaurants. I picked my top four favorite authentic Mexican restaurants to review and critique based on price, menu, service, house salsa, and appearance to help peoples, as future customers, decide which restaurant is the best choice for them. For all four restaurants none of them are entirely overpriced. In terms of bang, buck Riviera Maya is best option. He/she pay $8 $9 for a quality burrito that he/she can only finish about half of. I will note that Protestantism in the U.S. and in the black community is not homogenous. • 32. Jane Austen s Death On The Nile Essay Society throughout time has held particular values close to their hearts, which people are expected to respect at all times, though many do not necessarily agree with them. Death on the Nile, written by Agatha Christie in 1937, is about many upper middle and upper class families enjoying a cruise until a murder occurred, and the story revolves around the murder case being solved alongside the different family values and perspectives around the case. Pride and Prejudice, written by Jane Austen in 1813, tells the story of Elizabeth Bennet, and her relationships between her family and families beyond her class and the issues that arise between the different class statuses. Agatha Christie and Jane Austen have similar perspectives on the values that the upper class hold dear, such as gender roles, importance of social status and reasons for marriage. Agatha Christie and Jane Austen both reveal the expectations for women in their novels in terms of behaviour and knowledge. Christie shows through her male characters what the male dominant society expects of women. Simon Doyle is a character who demonstrates the typical man in society, and views women in a way where they must follow certain rules and behave in a sane, collected manner, for [t]here s no reason why women shouldn t behave like rational beings, (Christie 77). • 33. Human Development And Development Of Human Language Humans like to speak our minds. And the language in which we speak is unique, when compared to the communication between animals. Human language is a complex communication system consisting of the creation, acquisition, and development of sound patterns using complex motor control. Though how is it that we can do this? What makes humans so different from other animals, even those genetically close to us such as Neanderthals, that we are able to speak and comprehend complex syntax. Turns out, the answer could be more biological than we think: Involving our genes. The first gene discovered to be directly involved in the acquisition and development of speech and language was the Forkhead Box Protein (FOXP2). This gene, located on chromosome 7, appeared during the development of the brain, heart, lungs, and guts in both fetal and adult humans. The FOXP2 protein is what s known as a transcription factor, meaning that it works to regulate the expression of other genes throughout the body, similar to how an on off switch regulates a light. Orthologs of the FOXP2 gene have been found in other mammals, but the human FOXP2 is unique. While it is believed that hundreds of genes have their activities regulated by this protein, only a select few have been identified. Of the genes mapped, many have been connected to the human capacity for language and speech. Mutations of the FOXP2 in humans cause critical language and speech disorders, disorders such as Developmental Verbal Dyspraxia. Developmental Verbal Dyspraxia is a condition in which children struggle to coordinate the complex motor movements need to produce clear speech with their mouths. These children do not have any nerve or tissue damage, nor any cognitive disabilities. It was the study of this disorder, through an English family known as the KE Family, that the FOXP2 gene was first discovered. The case of the KE Family was studied through the Institute of Child Health at the University London College, though research was carried out throughout the years at different universities. For instance, it was Myma Gopnik, a linguistics professor with McGill University, who hypothesized that causation of Developmental Verbal Dyspraxia was not through any cognitive or ...
