1. Life is a game
And all the people in it players
2. Last year
You worked in groups to produce a TV programme using
the multi-camera TV studio.
How did it go?
3. This year
You will be working in teams to plan & produce a TV game-
show.
Your game-show will need to be 30 minutes long (with 2
minutes leeway either side), include titles, theme tune and
end credits, and you will be given a specific broadcast date
and time which you must adhere to. You will need to come
up with an engaging, fun concept before you begin your
planning.
I will be putting you into two different, competing teams.
4. Today
You will be looking back at your planning work from last year
and thinking about what you did well, and what you could
improve on this time. You will set yourself a target outlining
how you will improve your planning.
You will then begin to brainstorm ideas for game shows in
small groups.
5. By the end of this lesson, you
MUST develop creative ideas for a game-show
SHOULD pitch an imaginative idea for a game-
show to the group
COULD identify your own strengths and
weaknesses in your previous multicamera
assignment, setting a target for improvement.
10. Let’s look at some of your planning...

11. We all need to improve at something.
What do you need to get better at this year?
Being more pro-active during planning?
Doing work at home?
Speaking up, or becoming less passive in group work?
Writing your plans in more detail?
Getting organised ahead of time?
Identify what your weakness is during pre-production and
set yourself it as a target for improvement.
Write it down on the paper in front of you. That target is
for you; keep it in your mind over this project.
12. Task 1:
In groups of no more than 3….
You need to come up with 3 different concepts for game
shows. You should think about:
1. Your games theme (carnival, sci-fi, christmas, movies
etc…)
2. The type of game (mental, physical, team, solo)
3. Your games concept, or it's hook (what makes it
different?)
4. Any special rounds or bonuses.
13. Task 2
In your groups, choose 1 of your ideas
and produce a five minute pitch for it,
with a presentation.
Try to sell us on the mood and fun
factor; what makes this idea different?
Why will it be entertaining?
15. Plenary
In your groups start discussing ideas - you may want to use one
of the ideas from today, or you may want to come up with more
ideas.
Before next weeks lesson try to come up with at least 3 ideas in
your group that you can begin developing.
