Creatine Research Paper
The Effects of Creatine Supplement on the Athletic Health and Performance Many athletes use
resistance training in their everyday workouts while using creatine. However, the athletes are unaware
of the effects it has on their bodies and whether performance is enhanced or not. Therefore, these
athletes need to become educated of what they are putting into their bodies and whether creatine is
aiding them in gains or not. First, background information will be provided on both creatine and
resistance training. Next, there will be discussion on the benefits of resistance training with sex
differences and age differences. Then, studies will be provided to help with gaining a better
understanding on creatine s effects with resistance training. Creatine will then be discussed on how it
helps other people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The four studies mentioned previously all draw to the same conclusion. The first study showed gains
in muscle strength while performing lower body exercises. The second study showed an increase in
6.85 kg of muscle gains in lifts. The third study was an analysis of 22 different studies. It indicated an
8% increase in muscle strength gains and a 14% increase in weightlifting performance. The last study
showed an increase in strength gains and performance in bench press. Overall, these four studies
showed that there is an increase in both strength gains and performance with the use of creatine and
resistance training. Endurance athletes will not see benefits from creatine use. This is due to the
energy system used for endurance, the Oxidative System. The Oxidative System does not use
phosphocreatine for production of energy. While the ATP PCr System, which is used in resistance
training, does use phosphocreatine to aid in production of energy. Therefore, when resistance training,
athletes can and should use

The Concept of Advanced Civilization Led to the European...
During the European conquests of the 16th and 17th centuries, the concept of an advanced civilization
was essential most of the time. This can be supported by the strategic Spanish conquests, Portuguese
exploration, and the Dutch trading empire.
To begin with, North and South America, which had existed in isolation for thousands of years, came
into contact with the rest of the world via the Italian explorer, Christopher Columbus. In 1492, he was
sent by Spain to look for a route to India. Rather, Columbus came into contact with a Caribbean
island. This marked the beginning of Spanish invasion of the Americas, who were in search of gold.
Perhaps the most profound Spanish conquistadors were Hernan Cortez and Francisco Pizzaro, who ...

The Incas had no knowledge of the wheel, arch construction, or writing, but they managed a society in
the Andes. Pizzaro arrived with 180 men and 30 horses, and decided to meet with the ruler, Athualpa,
under an agreement of having unarmed body guards. As the gold covered ruler agreed, he was
immediately stripped of his gold headband and one blast of his cannon and small army slaughtered the
Inca warriors 50,000. Atuhualpa tried to free himself by offering a 17ft by 22ft by 9ft room of gold.
The Spanish took the offer, but still murdered Atuahulpa to show that they could not be trusted so that
others would abide by their rule. The contact between the Americas and the Old World began
biological exchange of animals and foods which greatly benefited trade.
Additionally, Vasco de Gama was a Portuguese explorer who discovered an ocean route to India, in
1498, by going under the tip of Africa, or Cape of Good Hope. This way avoided conflicts with the
Ottoman Turks and led one directly into the fast moving currents of the Indian Ocean. This plan was
carefully devised by skilled Portuguese mapmakers and navigators. Since this way was known, many
rulers such as the Sultan of Manindi, offered the Portugese captain a pilot to guide his ships to trade
for spices, gems, and fine (cotton, paper, porcelain, silk, glass, carpets) textiles. The Asian trading
network, however were not interested in Portuguese goods such as iron

The Cons And Disadvantages And Disadvantages Of Fiat Money
Fiat money is any legal currency that is not backed by a physical commodity, nor does it require a
substantial value for the material. Fiat money is referred to those currency does not use some valuable
kind as the currency standard. Fiat money does not represent the actual things and goods. Virtually, all
paper money in the world today is fiat money, along with most coin currencies. Next, as same as
money, we used today. That the government retains more and a suitable amount of the commodity,
which that is more valuable just as much as the total money amount. In the tenth century, the Song
Dynasty in China maybe is the first of fiat money. Unfortunately, fiat money is an money without any
uses, so that s means fiat money is fundamentally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First of all, the disadvantages of fiat money are circulation of paper money is only limited to the
country that issuing it. As for international settlements, fiat money cannot be used. Therefore, the
value depends on the accidents of a limited area. Fiat money is more subject to fluctuation than that of
metallic money. As compare to the metallic money or gold, the gold is accepted internationally by all
the country. The gold is steadied by the equalizing tendencies of parts of a broad area. As a result,
metallic money or gold is better as it is accepted internationally comparing to the fiat money.
Moreover, the disadvantage of fiat money is that it has less stability of value. Fiat money has only one
usage which is namely the monetary use. The demand for money is not stable and changes all the
time. The demand for the fiat money depends on the value of the money at the time. As compare to the
metals, it has an equal and greater use in arts in which the demand is steady. The social usages of it
just changed slowly and demand it in utensils also shift very little. As a conclusion, the demand for the
metal is therefore more stabilized in wider basis compare to the demand for the fiat

IMPACT OF GLOBALIZATION ON THE HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT FUNCTION IN
DEVELOPING COUNTRIES: A CASE STUDY OF KENYA PUBLIC CORPORATIONS Hazel
Gachoka Gachunga1
Abstract Globalization has a major impact on the management of human resources in developing
countries including Kenya. It has led to homogenization and convergence in organization strategies,
structures and processes as well as in consumer choice. With accelerating globalization, organizations
have had to change and new trends have set in even in the management of human resources.
Globalization has led to changes in organization design and organization structures are leaner thus
improving efficiency but having a negative impact on staff numbers which have had to be reduced.

The transmutations of technology and capital, work together to create a new globalized and
interconnected world. (Castell, 1998) A technological revolution involving the creation of
computerized network of communication, transportation and exchange is the presupposition of a
globalized economy, along with the extension of a world capitalist market system that is absorbing
evermore areas of the world and spheres of production , exchange and consumption. The technological
revolution presupposes global computerized networks and the free movement of goods, information
and people across national boundaries. Hence the internet and global computer networks make
globalization possible, by producing a technological infrastructure for the global economy.
Globalization has an effect on employment patterns worldwide. It has contributed to a great deal of
outsourcing which is one of the greatest organizational and industry structure shifts that changes the
way business operates (Drucker, 1998). Globalization is also seen as changing organizational
structures where expenses can move up or down as the business climate dictates (Garr, 2001). For
employees the trend toward outsourcing has been thought to result in a loss of fixed employment
opportunities as a consequence of firms seeking to use cheap labor from countries like China, Mexico
and even Africa. The globalized economies have

Pathogen Recognition Essay
Active innate immune response to bacterial infections
Pathogen recognition
Immunity depends on the recognition of pathogen components by innate receptors expressed on
immune and non immune cells against microbial pathogens. Innate receptors are conserved germ line
encoded proteins and include TLRs (toll like receptors), RLRs [RIG 1 like receptors (retinoic acid
inducible gene 1)] and NLRs (nod like receptors). Receptors recognize pathogens or pathogen derived
products in different cellular compartments, for instance plasma membrane, endosomes or the
cytoplasm, and induce the expression of cytokines, chemokines and co stimulatory molecules to
eliminate molecules to eliminate pathogens and instruct pathogen specific adaptive immune response.

Complement proteins assist in bacterial killing by three pathway:
 The classical complement pathway
 The alternative complement pathway
 The lectin pathway.
The initial steps of the classical complement pathway require the binding of antibodies to the surface
of the target bacterium. The antibodies then target for one particular complement protein complex,
called as C1. This complement protein C1 binds to the tail (Fc region) of the antibody. Once bound,
C1 initiates a series of cleavage and forming of complement complexes that ends in the binding of
several complement proteins to the surface of the bacterium that forms a membrane attack complex
(MAC) or can generate opsonins that label a bacterium for destruction. MAC inserts itself into the cell
membrane of Gram negative, but not in Gram positive, bacteria. It then produces pores that allow the
entry of membrane damaging molecules, such as lysozyme, and makes the bacterium susceptible to

Fathers Should Not Be Treated
Fathers Should Not Be Treated the Same as Mothers in Deciding Family Court Cases Involving Child
Custody A major argument in contemporary debates on social issues is that mothers are often favored
in family court decisions. This favoritism is claimed to be particularly rampant on the issue of children
s custody, whereby many cases grant the custody to mothers. Here, the nurturing stereotype that
perceives a mother as a better nurturer is blamed for the cases outcome. A recent study on whether
fathers are actually discriminated against produced more controversy, as it argued that despite the fact
that less than half of the cases grant fathers some form of access to children, these cases can be
considered successful (Meyer). One would thus wonder whether there could be some factors studies
like this take into consideration to argue that the cases are nonetheless successful. Notwithstanding,
whether these factors are there or not, a keen look at the issues surrounding divorce cases show that it
would actually be unfair to treat mothers the same as fathers in family court decisions since mothers
are naturally or in default entitled more access to the children. Fathers are actually to blame for the
little or no access to children granted to them in family court decisions. This can be seen in the fact
that even before divorce is initiated or in normal family circumstances, most fathers spend way less
time with children compared to mothers. One study found that a married

The Chrysler Building Essay
Today technology allows us to construct structures that we would never have been able to make in the
past. Some of the creations are impressive based on what they accomplish but others are masterpieces
in themselves. Man s capability to build such tall buildings, as the skyscrapers we are familiar with
covering our cities today, is a major expression of the advancements we have made as a culture. The
power necessary to build such tall structures inspired competition between architects to see who could
build the tallest one. One skyscraper that has inspired many and served as a model, for high rise
buildings that were created after, is the Chrysler Building. The Chrysler Building serves as an
identifying mark to anyone that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although these problems were corrected and the idea of building a skyscraper became a feasible task,
there were many conditions that had to be taken into account, that did not need consideration when
building a structure less than 40 stories tall. Four story buildings are supported by their own walls;
however a new method needed to be created for skyscrapers since the previous building method would
not provide enough support. Metal skeletal frames made of columns and beams were then developed
to provide the support and strength needed for the skyscrapers. As the buildings grew taller, their
structural design was made lighter and stiffer. Also, as the buildings grew taller, wind became an
important issue. Normally, the force that acts on the skyscraper pushes directly downward towards the
ground that would then counter balance that push. However, when an additional force acts on it, such
as wind, the forces would act differently on the skyscraper. With a lateral force acting on the building,
the steel columns of the frame on the windy side would stretch apart slightly while the columns on the
other side would compress. Therefore, the skeletal frame built had to be made so that the structure
would be free to move slightly with the wind and, at the same time, remain sturdy.
The initial plan for this particular skyscraper built on

The Road Movie In Outer Space Analysis
In the two essays presented, Genre, Gender, and Hysteria, The Road Movie in Outer Space by Tim
Corrigan and Steven Cohan s The Road Movie Book Introduction, concepts of the beginning of the
road movie genre, how it related to social and political environments of the time a movie was made,
and changes in the style of protagonist are discussed and examined equally but differently. Road films
have been part of American films from the beginning of Hollywood movies. Their categories have
included action adventure, comedies, crime, dramas, gangster, and westerns films. Road films have
also expanded their popularity from the outback of Australia, as we ve seen in Beneath Clouds, Rabbit
Proof Fence and The Adventures of Pricilla, Queen of the Desert. The common theme present is a
journey on the open road, searching for an escape of the life they lead, and reaching a goal while
following the personal development of the characters during the journey. The appeal for the
international community with this genre of movies comes with the portrayal of experimentation and
innovation. This is further enhanced by the perception that Americans are a nation of dreamers and
women are free spirited. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Road movies enhance this notion with being free of the religious establishment and the government
establishment allowing one s self to expand beyond the societal structure to test the possible
boundaries. Steven Cohan combines a collection of diverse and engaging excerpts on movies from
Bob Hope to Thelma and Louise to illustrate this point. The movies discussed in this essay chronicle
road movies from America over the course of history from the Great Depression, to World War II,
through current times. The nature of American society is brought to light through the presentation of a
variety of movie

Examples Of Morality In The Book Thief
Morality is a particular system of values and principles of conduct held by one person or society. Each
person has their own set of morals, and they can be influenced by things such as culture or other
people. There is no universally right moral value system, and as far as morals go, there is no right or
wrong. In The Book Thief by Markus Zusak, a man named Adolf Hitler persuaded the citizens of
Germany that jewish people were a threat to their society. Adolf Hitler took control over Germany and
established his Nazi government. Hitler brainwashed the people living in Germany during that time to
torture anybody who is not a German Catholic. The citizens who believed what Hitler said would have
never done this, so their past morals were changed. Hans Hubermann, Liesel Meminger, and Rudy
Steiner are three characters in the novel whose morals were negatively influenced due to the Nazi
Germany society. Hans Hubermann s morals were negatively changed by the Nazi Germany society.
Hans Hubermann is a very well liked man with good morals. He is against the Nazi s and does not
agree with their actions or accusations about the Jews. Hans is called a jew lover by some people
because he gave a piece of bread to a jewish prisoner and he sometimes sticks up for them. Erik

Analysis Of The Dunkirk Evacuation

solely includes composite characters that are based on historical figures. While Vice admiral Bertram
Ramsay ran Operation Dynamo in a room deep within the Dover cliffs, Kenneth Branagh s Vice
admiral Bolton oversees the role of pier master, organizing soldiers onto the ships. Bolton s role of
pier master more closely resembles Canadian James Campbell Clouston, who was completely omitted
from the film. Clouston was tasked with ushering troops along a port on the beach in Dunkirk to a
fleet of ships awaiting their arrival in the English Channel. Before Clouston was appointed to the

Concert Analysis Of A Concert
The concert that I attended was played by Michael Kirkendoll on Wednesday, November 8 at Beall
Concert Hall. Kirkendoll played two pieces during the performance. The first was called Marriage,
Mile 55 From the Road, which talked about the disturbing tale of a man that explains how he
murdered his wife. The second piece, De Profundis, talked about a distal longing for love from a
homosexual man who was arrested because of who he loved. The first piece, Marriage, Mile 55 From
the Road, was played as a piano solo, with other forms of instrumentation coming from Kirkendoll
using his voice including both lyrical dictation and simple sound effects. He also used the piano as a
percussion instrument and a string instrument by slapping and hitting the wooden sides and reaching
over into the belly of the piano and plucking the strings like a guitar. There was not a specific tempo
used for this song, as it changed many times because the lyrical parts. Many times, the lyrics would
dictate tempo. Dissonance was used mainly because of the minor notation. This fit perfectly into the
horror theme that the composer was trying to express in his work. There was not a defined tempo as
Kirkendoll changed the timing in order to build suspense and further the plot. To my untrained ears,
Kirkendoll sounded like he was jumping around on the keyboard rather than keeping a specific tempo.
The music being played was complex to play, but especially hard to understand. The song Marriage,

Building Effective Service Learning Programs in Local...
Kids these days have a bad rap. Adults who don t regularly interact with high school students may
only see the negative side of the adolescents in their community. In fact, sixty one percent of
American adults are convinced that today s youth face a crisis in their values and morals, look at
teenagers with misgiving and view them as undisciplined, disrespectful, and unfriendly (Latham,
2003). One way to help change the attitudes of adults and also encourage youth personal development
is service learning programs in local communities. By participating in service learning programs,
students learn how to navigate group dynamics, diversify their peer group to include adults and people

(Middleton Kelly, 1996). One of the biggest issues stems from a lack of facilitation on the larger social
issues involved with community service. When there is a proper forum to discuss the experiences they
receive while volunteering, students are given a chance to understand how policies and civic
involvement play a direct role in the lives of people in their communities. (Lakin Mahoney, 2006).
Another issue is content involved in the community service activities. If teenagers are thrust into a
volunteer situation they don t understand or feel that they are simply being assigned made up work, it
can actually have a detrimental effect (Tugend, 2010). One way to make the most of volunteer
opportunities is to specifically design the content around areas of student development. By focusing
on key content areas, students learn how to use their current skill set to navigate new experiences and
difficult situations. (Lakin Mahoney, 2006). A well organized and thoughtful volunteer opportunity
has proven time and time again to be a positive experience for youth. There are many studies that
discuss the character building benefits of service learning. Students who participate have higher
academic achievements, develop critical thinking, problem solving, decision making, planning and
organizing skills and expand their social circles. A student who volunteers is more likely to volunteer
and vote as adult. (Latham, 2003).

Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD)
Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD) is defined as a mental disorder in which an individual has a
pervasive pattern of grandiosity . . . lack of empathy, [is] self centered and require the admiration of
others (Lyons, C., Martin, B., 2014, pg. 206). Although Narcissism has it own symptoms, it has
similarities with other disorders such as disregard of others, instability in relationships, tend to be
emotional and attention seeking, and exaggerate self importance. Though the exact cause of this
personality disorder is unknown, there have been numerous speculations and theories. What is known
however, is that an individual that is of Narcissistic Personality Disorder usually displays these
characteristics by early adulthood and present ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While most people would clearly be aware of the fact that they have to wait in line (as most
individuals do) in order to pay for their items and be on their way, a narcissists would disagree. This is
because Narcissist as talked about the Abnormal Psychology book, . . . do not care to wait in line or
take their turn: they expect special privileges because of their obvious superiority to others (Lyons, C.,
Martin, B., 2014, pg. 206). They believe and view themselves as priority regardless of their location or
circumstance. In their minds limits, exclusions, the word no, or off limits does not apply to them
simply because of their apparent superiority to others. Due to these beliefs, they . . . are condescending
and haughtily in attitude and behavior. (206) towards anyone who crosses their path. This too applies
to their relationships, whether family, social, or acquaintance. Narcissist view others as means to their
ends, because of their perspective they do not feel empathy and use others for their own gains. Which
is why often times, they will surround themselves with individuals that will feed their ego due to that,
they always want, look for, and expect to receive compliments from others. However, if they do not
receive the attention or compliments expected, this will further encourage their Narcissistic ways in
order to protect the well being of their ego and avoid

The Effects of Environmental Factors on the Absorbance of...
Introduction
In this experiment, the gram negative bacterium Escherichia coli is being subjected to various
environmental factors that affect the rate of growth. These factors scrutinized were the different types
of nutrients, the intensity of aeration, or the temperature at which it was stored. The purpose of this lab
is to determine which factor affects the Escherichia coli the greatest. It is known that these abiotic
factors affect the rate of growth the greatest if they remain at the correct conditions for living.
Escherichia coli and other bacteria will go through four phases; a lag phase, log phase, stationary
phase, and a death phase. In the lag phase, the bacteria reproduce fairly slowly, as they are preparing

We took readings every 15 minutes, until the class was over which was at the 90 minute mark.
For the temperature and aeration trials, the test tubes of Escherichia coli with tryptic soy broth (TSB)
were measured using identical procedures as the nutrient trials were tested. Before every sample, we
had to re zero the spectrophotometer with a blank test tube, and then we took the reading from the
cultured tubes. As we did for the nutrient experiments, we also took the readings from the temperature
and aeration samples every 15 minutes. The temperature test tube was prepared by exposing it to room
temperature (25°C), another test tube in an oven (33°C), and the test tube in a lab oven which was
slightly warmer, at 37°C.
In the aeration samples, one flask was stationary and it was exposed to the atmosphere. The second
sample was put in a regular flask, and placed in a shaking water bath. The third sample was placed in
an irregular shaped flask, which was also placed in the quivering water bath. After treatment, all the
samples were measured on the spectrophotometer, using the same procedure as the nutrient samples
and temperature samples.
Results
The results showed that the experimental data did not necessarily display the lowest MGT. For the
nutrient data, the MSG had a mean generation time of an hour, the MSGT had a doubling time of less

Coming Of Age Throughout Mississippi, By Anne Moody
Being born into a racially divided society, such as America during slavery and the decades after the
Civil War, does not mean that you are born with the knowledge of racism. Racism is something that
we are not born with and that we are raised to experience, follow, or fix. During the 19th century and
all the way up till mid 20th century, racism was one of the biggest issues in America. Former slaves
and anyone who had lived in America for some time, was aware of the racial tension that traveled
through the heart of the nation and only got worse the more south you go. In Anne Moody s
autobiography, Coming of Age in Mississippi, Moody s life is told through her eyes. It goes through
her childhood until her participation in the Civil Rights movement. One of the major parts in the book
is her slowly realizing the racial divide in America and the disadvantages that her skin color had come
with. All the racism Moody experienced as a child until she was an adolescent led to her decision to
become part of the Civil Rights movement. Growing up in rural Mississippi was a childhood filled
with racism, segregation, and intimidation. These came with every childhood, black or white.
Growing up in rural Mississippi as a black child just added more complications like disadvantages,
lower quality of life, the risk of being lynched, and many more horrors. This was the reality for Anne
Moody. Anne Moody was a young, black girl who grew up living with her father, mother and younger
siblings.

Stressors In Stress Management
Identifying Your Stressors: Step One In Stress Management
We have all experienced some type of stress in our lives, whether we re aware of it or not. Everyone s
experience with it will be different and there will be a variety of reasons and causes for each
individual. While one inconvenience is minor to you it may be enough to send your friend running.
This is why it s important to understand your stressors. The first step in managing your stress is
understanding what it is that triggers it.
The Categories
Emotional
These internal stressors include anxieties and fears that you may have and come with a variety of
personality traits (like pessimism, distrust, and perfectionism). These types of stressors are unique to
individuals and can distort how they perceive others.
Work
We all experience pressure at work from the pressures to perform and meet deadlines, to working with
irritating colleagues and unpredictable bosses. Work can be a big cause of stress for many of us.

The Causes Of Food, Hunger, And Around The World
It is a sunny day and you are watching T.V, when a thought comes to your mind and wonder what are
other people doing around the world while you re enjoying your life? Are they happy, working, or
survive hunger? Their are millions of things at can cause hunger all over the world, and they are still
happening. 795 million people do not have enough of the food they need to live an active, healthy life
(Mercy Corps 1) Food hunger can happen anytime or anywhere, and can be caused by anything, too.
However, some causes of hunger are by war, weather and climate, human population, storage
facilities, natural disasters and global warming. The most destructive is drought, poor or failed
harvests can turn in resulted of food scarcity and high prices available of food(harvest 1). The other
one that is more common in people is having no money. In some countries or places, men are the only
ones that have a good opportunity to a job, education, and money. Women are the opposite of that,
they have less job options women are the ones who stay in the house and taking care of children. Lots
and millions of people are suffering for food because they can t afford it or have no way to receive
some. There are campaigns helping people but not enough for this situation. Hunger doesn t only
affect one place in the world, it can spread to different locations affecting the population that lives
their. 60 percent of the world s hungry are women and girls (Mercy Corps 1). Because women have

Birth Order Personality
The order people are born in, whether oldest, middle or youngest, can have a major effect on their
personality. The dynamics of birth order have long been debated in the scientific community. Some
researchers are hesitant to assign and label specific traits to each family positon. However, most agree
that birth order influences and factors into the adults we become. Birth order affects people in ways
they are unaware of. It can form personalities and affect behaviors. Also, as a result of birth order,
relationships and perspectives on life can be rather different between family members despite siblings

In his book, Leman writes that at times the youngest child feels the only way they will receive
attention is if they make a mess (172). He goes on to write that because youngest children are often
not taken seriously they act out and it leads to these children turning into the class clown (Leman,
168). In a study done by Zweigenhaf and Von Ammon, they tested to see if youngest born are more
rebellious than firstborns. They looked at 20 college students who had been arrested for engaging in
civil disobedience in a labor dispute. Some of these students had been arrested more than once
(Zweigenhaf and Von 625). After the study was completed, it was determined that majority of the
arrested students were youngest born and all the students who were arrested multiple times were
youngest born (Zweigenhaf and Von, 626). This study supports the theory that youngest children tend
to be more rebellious.
Although firstborns are thought as being the most intelligent, youngest children are believed to be
more creative. Rohrer says this may be because youngest born children have to establish and create a
place in the family that has not been taken by other family members. This is accomplished through
exploration (Rohrer). Eisenman conducted a different study on 20 art students and also found that
laterborn children tend to be more creative. He believed this to be because artistic talent requires

Irony In Dido In Dido
Despite the fact that historically Rome and Greece were bitter enemies, the complexity and sympathy
inherent in Dido s character and indeed the entire episode in Carthage was meant by Virgil to cast
doubt on the nature of the relationship and animosity between the two territories, both during Aeneas s
time and beyond. When the storm that strands Aeneas in Carthage subsides, his men clamber onshore,
appeal to the queen and beg her for solace. You could well, with impunity, battle [Aeneas] as to who
was more generous...Please let us haul our storm ravaged navy onshore on your beaches, / Cut down
wood from your forests to craft new planking and oarage... (1.548 552) It is important to note here
that, before the reader is even introduced to the concept proper, the Trojans entreaty touches upon a
code of conduct seen as befitting a righteous warrior; this concept is later elaborated on by Anchises.
Mercy for those cast down and relentless war upon proud men. (6.853) To their surprise, the queen
warmly invites the Trojans to stay within Carthage s borders, despite any animosities that may have
plagued them in the past. We Carthaginians are not quite that insensate and heartless, / Nor does the
Sun yoke his team that far away from our Tyrian city! (1.567 568) Dido s behavior here is explained
by Venus as a result of a desire to help the weak following her self imposed exile from Tyre to escape
from her brother Pygmalion a concept the Trojans would likely relate to. Fortune has battered me too,
she tells them, with some similar twists, through so many / Trials, yet finally willed that I settle down
here in this country. / I am no stranger to hardship. I m learning to help those who suffer. (1.628 630)
Note the language used in these vignettes: Dido describes herself as learning to help sufferers and the
Carthiginians as not quite that insensate. It does not appear as if she is attempting to brush away or
ignore past conflicts; that most likely would not have gone over well with a Roman audience. More
likely, Virgil is trying to appeal to the idea that even one s enemies are human, make mistakes, and can
make reparations for them. This is part of the root of the sympathy the reader feels for Dido; she is an

The internet literally belongs to the people. In its simplest terms, the internet is really just a large

very name of it is derived from interconnected networks. Some of these nodes have special programs
to enable other client nodes to connect to it and exchange information with it. These computers,

Transgenic Animal Model Essay
Alzheimer s disease is the leading form of dementia within the world s elderly population and given
that there exists an ever increasing percentage of the elderly population within society, understanding
this neurodegenerative disease has become more important than ever. It is a disease associated with
subcortical temporal lobe structures such as the Hippocampus, the Entorhinal Cortex, the Amygdala,
the Thalamus, among others. Clinically, those millions of individuals suffering from the disease
experience episodes of irreversible memory loss, changes in personality and confusion (among a
plethora of other symptoms). Physiologically, the disease is characterized by the accumulation of
insoluble amyloid beta plaques, derived from the amyloid precursor protein (APP). Another
characteristic marker for Alzheimer s dementia is the Hyper phosphorylation of the Tau protein which
then aggregates to form insoluble neurofibrillary tangles (NFTs), that inhibit a cell s ability to regulate
the stabilization of the microtubule component tubulin. Transgenic animal models have proven to be
quite useful in terms of exploring the ways in which diseases manifest themselves in humans. In

presented through personal desire to use the products and access to the various available discounts.

Deliberative Democracy In Canada
According to Joshua Cohen (1997), deliberative democracy is the framework of social and
institutional conditions that facilitate free discussion among equal citizens, by providing favorable
conditions for participations, association...(p. 412) Deliberative democracy a term that is just recently
coming to light of different communities and countries throughout the globe. Deliberative democracy
is many things, it allows for development of new ideas, while establishing long lasting results. It is
localism. Localism is how people from the surrounding area come together to discuss and change the
future of a certain part of their community. One example of this is in the video that as played in class.
The community in Canada saw that mental health was a serious issue between themselves and other
members. To combat this problem they formed a collective to help set a foundation for the future, to
provide support and an overall health plan. People from the community came together at feasts,

The long term result allows for an overall satisfaction. As we see now in America, the government is

can not be expected that a senate, or house will able to accurately and effectively represent such a
large population of diversity that America holds or even a small population as some states have.
However, one misconception that can be a challenge is that deliberation of democracy is thought to

democracy can effectively be done. One example of this is in the UK, small groups of randomly
chosen citizens came together as in a jury to deliberate on an issue. While not every one s voice in the

Workplace bulling is abusive behavior that creates an intimidating and uncomfortable work
environment that affects another person or persons safety or well being (Qualia Soup, 2014). The
article Workplace Bullying: Costly and Preventable by Wiedmer, T.L. (2011) discusses work place
bullying and its effects on productivity and the work environment.

employees bullies usually target. The bully usually focuses on skilled employees that have the ability

bosses and coworkers employ were alienating the targets from social interaction and withholding

A situation that was observed several years ago was an example of a male employee by the name of

The Pros And Cons Of Net Neutrality
We all know the Internet, and use it in daily basis like entertainment and work, and many other types
of usage for the Internet, and we use it freely with almost no boundaries that s what s called Net
Neutrality
. The F.C.C. (Federal Communication Commission) is trying to take that freedom away from all users
and consumers in the United States by limiting accessibility, and speed for all type of consumers of
the
Internet by repealing the Net Neutrality which will allow the ISPs (Internet Service Provider) to have
more control over the Internet usage of the consumers. According to the chairman of the F.C.C. Ajit
Pai a former lawyer for Verizon, that repealing Net Neutrality will increase the ISP s profit and
improve the service quality they provide for the consumers. A lot of people showed their disagreement
over the issue, and followed by many disappointment and disapproval of big characters, companies
and websites. While ISPs are regulated right now to treat everyone equally and fairly, Trump s
administration and the F.C.C. s goal is to repeal the Net Neutrality, and give control of the Internet to
the ISPs in the U.S., even though the consumers do not support the repeal and protested against it for
various reasons, but the F.C.C. still want to give the ISPs control of the Internet to increase their
income, and have more privileges over the Internet.

The Contributions Of Freud And The Case Of Sigmund Freud
Sigmund Freud, the father of psychoanalysis, is predominantly recognized as one of the most
influential and authoritative thinkers of the twentieth century. Freud gave a broad perspective on
things involving dreams, religion, and cultural artifacts while still focusing on different states of the
mind, such as unconsciousness. Freud also relied on a local sexual repression issue to create theories
about human behavior. His theories and ideas of psychoanalysis still have a strong impact on
psychology and early childhood education today. Freud s most important claim is that with
psychoanalysis he had invented a new science of the mind, however, remains the subject of copious
critical debate and controversy. Sigmund Freud was born ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

rise in war neuroses. Many psychiatrists at the time believed that when soldiers showed symptoms of
constant nervousness, nightmares, and traumatic memories of war experiences, they were merely
cowards trying to escape combat. During the First World War, this perception started to change and
people began to think that these symptoms were signs of real psychiatric problems. Shortly after,
Freud created a model of the mind called the Psychic

Disadvantages Of Outsourcing In Healthcare
Outsourcing can be a means to perform the core functions of an organization effectively by having
more time focused on the activities critical to the delivery of services to customer. The non core
activities are performed by the leaders in that area which will help to achieve better efficiencies.
Outsourcing can substantially lower costs, help to access better technology and use innovative ideas

The advantages of outsourcing are:
Cost savings: Every business try to reduce cost; health care industry is no different. If by outsourcing

The World s Largest Hot Dry Land Desert
At about 3.6 million square mile, the Sahara Desert, located across North Africa, is the world s largest
hot dry land desert. It was not until the early 1960 s that the impact of the dry land received attention.
Known as the Sahel, the region was previously known for its wet arable land. Present day, the Sahel
has taken the form of a semi arid dry land that expands over eleven African states: Egypt, Mauritania,
Mali, Algeria, Chad, Sudan, Niger, Tunisia, Morocco, and Western Sahara. Desertification, or arable
land degradation, has occurred in the Sahel over the past ten thousand years, dating back to the ice
age. During the Pre Classical era many ancient civilizations found home at the Nile River Valley.
Plentiful monsoon rains permeated the Sahel, but water on the surface of the Sahel has decreased
significantly as desertification has inversely increased, leaving only unreachable underground water
reservoirs. Stress is put on the Sahel region from services: agriculture, forage, energy, raw materials,
etc. Gradually over time the carbon build up in the atmosphere has caused increased water vapor
instead of it being recycled into rainwater. Without rain water plants, or autotrophs, cannot perform
adequate photosynthesis and carbon fixation, thus carbon build up continues to occur further trapping
carbon in the atmosphere and increasing global climate.

Sustainable Development Is Possible For Academic Research
During the last eleven years my work in Belize has evidenced that sustainable development is possible
when academic research incorporates community direction, and recognizes local expertise as a
component in the formation of new knowledge. Indeed, we are able to manage problems and in many
cases improve lives by collaborating to undertake community driven and academically supported
initiatives. What is sometimes misunderstood in the context of academia, community based research
promotes the creation of new knowledge through multiple sources including academia, local tacit
expertise, and cultural context (Strand, Marullo, Cutforth, Stoecker, Donohue, 2003). Collaborative
solutions to issues and challenges that work within the parameters of local resources are paramount to
sustainability. Moreover, sustainability is critical in effecting a lasting improvement in the human
condition. The projects that I implemented in December of 2014 and December of 2015 particularly
those directed at soil quality are indicators of the effectiveness and sustainability of these collaborative
efforts.
Although these projects may seem diverse, in the context of addressing the challenges of food
insecurity, poverty, lack of access to clean water, and environmental degradation; interdisciplinary
solutions in the framework of the integrated natural resource management model could be employed
to resolve these issues (Sanchez, Palm, Buol, 2003, p. 159). Agricultural communities especially with

they are hungry, are they enough lavatories around the park, and, most importantly, are the rides in the

signs around the park which informs people of the predicted amount of time you would be in the
queue for a ride, which is very good for people who do not want to wait a long time for a ride. They
have maps all around the park, with the You Are Here marker to allow for easy navigation, and the

The main problem I have encountered is planning for the future. In the business world, it is impossible
to tell what problems will come up. On any given day your priorities can change from that you have
planned. It is important to recognize the highest priorities and to tackle those items first so that you
can get to the items of lower priority before they become critical.
I get to work each morning at 6:30. The first thing I do is check my PPC, email, and outstanding RFIs

there is a discussion of each engineer s planned tasks for the day. If there is time after the meeting, I

Conflict Between Israel And Israel
Before getting all sophisticated and going into depth about this issue, I would like to break down each
subject that would be discussed. Conflict is defined as incompatibility or interference, as of one idea,
desire, event, or activity with another. Palestine (also called the Holy Land) is an ancient country in
South West Asia, on the East coast of the Mediterranean. Palestine is also a country divided between
Israel, Jordan, and Egypt. Lastly, Israel is a republic in South West Asia on the Mediterranean, formed
as a Jewish state in May of 1948. These two, the Israelis and Palestinians, have been fighting for
decades. The main reasons include international agreement, borders, economic security, water
resources, sovereignty of Jerusalem, Israeli settlements, Palestinian freedom of movement due to
barriers, and resolving Palestinian claims of a right of return for their refugees. Of course, at one point
in time there had to be peace. There wasn t always fighting and clashing going on. This time of peace
happened to be before a group of Zionists from Europe decided to invade the land in attempt to make
it home for the Jewish people. Eventually, fighting broke out when the Arabs realized what was really
going on and how it would affect their people and community. As stated before, these two have been
going at it for many many years so of course there are wars to prove it. The first war fought between
the Palestinians and Arabs took place in 1947 1949, also referred to as

Where Do I See Myself
The question is where do I see myself in five to ten years. The honest answer is I don t know where I
m going to be or what my career is going to be in the future. Right now I have no idea what I want to

spending the rest of my life with and have a couple of children. I want to be a father so my kids can

have done for my brother and myself. I hope in ten years that I will be at a steady and stable job that I
enjoy going to every day and that I make enough money to support my family and not be worrying
about money issues. Also, I hope that I m done with school and have achieved the highest degree in
my career field and hopefully I have no student loans that I need to payoff. Lastly, I see myself some

Meanwhile, there are certain qualities that I have that I bring to a relationship. First of all I m a good

or when they need to get something off their chest. I will be there when my partner asks for help and

outside of school. We weren t that good, but we had so much fun playing that it didn t matter if we
were good or bad. Our team has been together all this time. Most teams break up or move to new
teams after three or four years but not us. All of the kids stayed on this team because we knew how
good of a man our coach was and how he was going to help us develop both as soccer players and as
men.
Another thing that my coach has taught me is that school is always more important than soccer. My
coach would always check up on my teammates and I to see how were doing in school. My coach
enjoyed hearing us talk about things other than soccer like hobbies, school, and family. He liked
getting to know us and he thought that getting to know each other was also important for us. He
thought that if we communicated better outside of soccer, we would communicate

Summarizez Paul s Speech
The speech summarizez Paul s work. The scenes of the trial are very similar to Jesus s tiral before
Pilate. The Roman province administrator also cannot find any fault to Paul through which the writer
can show, that Paul will have to follow Christ on the path of suffering and persecution.
Saul was a Christian persecutor. He captured and enclosed those adherent to Jesus, voted for death
sentences and forced the Christians to blasphemy. This image of Saul shows his conversion in even
brighter light. He saw a light »which was brighter than the sunlight« (26,13).
Paul s story about his vocation is part of his defense speech before the Roman province manager Fest
and Jewish king Agripo. It is intended to present the mission willed by God and to

Assessing the Perceived Image of Citizens about Romanian...
In a society which has become increasingly more complex, the role of Police forces tends to be
versatile. Accordingly, lately, researchers gave a special attention to subjects regarding Police, and
implicitly to the public image of the institution.
Generally, the police image is conceptualized based on three main categories: overall image, outcomes
and process (Mastrofski, 1998). The overall image of police reflects perceptions, feelings and
evaluations about the police in general. As Gallagher, Maguire, Mastrofski, Reisig (2001) stated, this
area includes various general descriptions and analysis of the confidence and trust in the police (e.g.,
Hough, Jackson Bradford, 2013; Stanko, Jackson, Bradford Kohl, 2012), satisfaction with ... Show

The original form proposed by Osgood et. al (1957) was structured on three dimensions: Evaluation,
Potency and Activity, and has been confirmed by previous pan cultural studies (e.g. Heise, 1970;
Osgood, May Miron, 1975, etc.). Evaluation relates to goodness or badness, morality, utility, etc.,
Potency to magnitude, social power, strength, expansiveness, etc., whereas Activity relates to speed,
animation, spontaneity, etc. (Heise, 2010).
Although it was frequently used to measure attitudes (Osgood et al., 1957) or the meaning of concepts
(Doyle Bottomley, 2010; Mindak, 1961), SDS has proven useful in many areas, including in the
assessment of organizational image (de ex. Bonner George, 1988; Van Heerden Puth, 1995), corporate
image, advertising image, brand or service image, also (Smith Albaum, 2005).
In order to measure the meaning of the concept, the semantic differentiator usually uses a five or seven
point scale, based on a list of bipolar paired terms, with opposite meaning. According to their
disposition, attitude or image of the assessed construct, respondents select a point on the interval for
each contrasting pair. Each interval is expressed by quantifiers with certain magnitudes, with a neutral
point as central quantifier (Lopes, Nogueira Martins, Andrade Barros, 2011).

Drunk Driving Laws Essay
Enforcing Drunk Driving Laws
In the United States, driving under the influence of alcohol is a major problem as it accounts for a high
number of road fatalities. It is a criminal offense for a person to drive under the influence of alcohol in
almost all countries in the world. Nations impose penalties for drunk driving; however, they vary
widely from states to states. Nevertheless, many countries seem to come to an agreement that drunk
driving claims many lives in a year, which is intolerable. For instance, in 2008 alone, in the US, more
than 11000 lives perished in the road carnage due to drivers driving under the influence of alcohol
(Grant 16). Therefore, the government should employ or enforce stricter laws towards driving under
the influence, to reduce road fatalities.
Most of the drivers are well conversant with the laws and consequences against driving under the
influence of alcohol. However, ignorance and negligence have been a thing in their DNA, as the laws
on driving under the influence are lenient and loose. Nevertheless, the victims families and friends
lives get ruined due to the sudden death of their beloved one who could be their bread winners, and
they cannot reclaim their lives back. Apparently, the offenders in prisons reclaim their lives back after
a few days, or they get out with fines or cash bail, which leaves the casualties with constant pains and
struggles. Also, the deceased families are left financially disadvantaged due to high medical bills

Reverend Hale
Reverend Hale s Metamorphosis In Arthur Miller s play, The Crucible, it is clear that Reverend John
Hale of Beverly is the character that undergoes the most dramatic transformation and is a perfect
example of how a well respected, strong willed man can be changed due to deceit and lies. His
reputation and control in the play moves between two extremes as the events continue shifting from
confident accuser to helper of the accused. Hale s arrival during Act I in Salem depicts him as
character full of confidence and eager to utilize his knowledge of witchcraft and he is clear of his
intentions. This is a beloved errand for him; on being called here to ascertain witchcraft he felt the
pride of one specialist whose unique knowledge has at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I I have indeed. [It is his own suspicion, but he resists it. He glances at Elizabeth, then at John] . His
stutter suggests that he is reluctant to reply to Proctor but ultimately he agrees. This quote reveals to us
that Hale is questioning the confessions of the girls for the first time. During this period we see Hale s
belief in the girl s story beginning to change as he begins to support Proctor. Hale s loss of control is
also demonstrated in Act II through his lack of knowledge on the current situation. When Cheever
stated that Elizabeth has been charged, Hale had no awareness of this accusation and has to ask
Cheever When were she charged? unlike the beginning of the play when everyone asked Hale
questions. Rebecca s charge also surprises Hale which once again proves that he is no longer in
control of the situation like he was at the beginning. Hale further questions the actions of the court and
the genuineness of the accusations here as he cannot believe that such supposedly innocent and holy
people are being accused. Hale s actions are very indefinite and he speaks in great uncertainty which
reflects his loss of control and completely contrasts the manner in which he spoke towards the
beginning of the play. His uncertainty is further proof of him beginning to question the justice of the
events and his beliefs. Once again, we see Hale s lack of control and loss of reputation in Act III.

  • 3. The Concept of Advanced Civilization Led to the European... During the European conquests of the 16th and 17th centuries, the concept of an advanced civilization was essential most of the time. This can be supported by the strategic Spanish conquests, Portuguese exploration, and the Dutch trading empire. To begin with, North and South America, which had existed in isolation for thousands of years, came into contact with the rest of the world via the Italian explorer, Christopher Columbus. In 1492, he was sent by Spain to look for a route to India. Rather, Columbus came into contact with a Caribbean island. As the gold covered ruler agreed, he was immediately stripped of his gold headband and one blast of his cannon and small army slaughtered the Inca warriors 50,000. Atuhualpa tried to free himself by offering a 17ft by 22ft by 9ft room of gold. The Spanish took the offer, but still murdered Atuahulpa to show that they could not be trusted so that others would abide by their rule. The contact between the Americas and the Old World began biological exchange of animals and foods which greatly benefited trade. Additionally, Vasco de Gama was a Portuguese explorer who discovered an ocean route to India, in 1498, by going under the tip of Africa, or Cape of Good Hope. This way avoided conflicts with the Ottoman Turks and led one directly into the fast moving currents of the Indian Ocean. This plan was carefully devised by skilled Portuguese mapmakers and navigators. Since this way was known, many rulers such as the Sultan of Manindi, offered the Portugese captain a pilot to guide his ships to trade for spices, gems, and fine (cotton, paper, porcelain, silk, glass, carpets) textiles. • 8. Fathers Should Not Be Treated Fathers Should Not Be Treated the Same as Mothers in Deciding Family Court Cases Involving Child Custody A major argument in contemporary debates on social issues is that mothers are often favored in family court decisions. This favoritism is claimed to be particularly rampant on the issue of children s custody, whereby many cases grant the custody to mothers. Here, the nurturing stereotype that perceives a mother as a better nurturer is blamed for the cases outcome. A recent study on whether fathers are actually discriminated against produced more controversy, as it argued that despite the fact that less than half of the cases grant fathers some form of access to children, these cases can be considered successful (Meyer). One would thus wonder whether there could be some factors studies like this take into consideration to argue that the cases are nonetheless successful. Notwithstanding, whether these factors are there or not, a keen look at the issues surrounding divorce cases show that it would actually be unfair to treat mothers the same as fathers in family court decisions since mothers are naturally or in default entitled more access to the children. Fathers are actually to blame for the little or no access to children granted to them in family court decisions. This can be seen in the fact that even before divorce is initiated or in normal family circumstances, most fathers spend way less time with children compared to mothers. Although these problems were corrected and the idea of building a skyscraper became a feasible task, there were many conditions that had to be taken into account, that did not need consideration when building a structure less than 40 stories tall. Four story buildings are supported by their own walls; however a new method needed to be created for skyscrapers since the previous building method would not provide enough support. Metal skeletal frames made of columns and beams were then developed to provide the support and strength needed for the skyscrapers. As the buildings grew taller, their structural design was made lighter and stiffer. Also, as the buildings grew taller, wind became an important issue. Normally, the force that acts on the skyscraper pushes directly downward towards the ground that would then counter balance that push. However, when an additional force acts on it, such as wind, the forces would act differently on the skyscraper. With a lateral force acting on the building, the steel columns of the frame on the windy side would stretch apart slightly while the columns on the other side would compress. Therefore, the skeletal frame built had to be made so that the structure would be free to move slightly with the wind and, at the same time, remain sturdy. During the 19th century and all the way up till mid 20th century, racism was one of the biggest issues in America. Former slaves and anyone who had lived in America for some time, was aware of the racial tension that traveled through the heart of the nation and only got worse the more south you go. In a study done by Zweigenhaf and Von Ammon, they tested to see if youngest born are more rebellious than firstborns. It does not appear as if she is attempting to brush away or ignore past conflicts; that most likely would not have gone over well with a Roman audience. More likely, Virgil is trying to appeal to the idea that even one s enemies are human, make mistakes, and can make reparations for them. It was not until the early 1960 s that the impact of the dry land received attention. Known as the Sahel, the region was previously known for its wet arable land. Present day, the Sahel has taken the form of a semi arid dry land that expands over eleven African states: Egypt, Mauritania, Mali, Algeria, Chad, Sudan, Niger, Tunisia, Morocco, and Western Sahara. Desertification, or arable land degradation, has occurred in the Sahel over the past ten thousand years, dating back to the ice age. During the Pre Classical era many ancient civilizations found home at the Nile River Valley. Plentiful monsoon rains permeated the Sahel, but water on the surface of the Sahel has decreased significantly as desertification has inversely increased, leaving only unreachable underground water reservoirs. Stress is put on the Sahel region from services: agriculture, forage, energy, raw materials, etc. Gradually over time the carbon build up in the atmosphere has caused increased water vapor instead of it being recycled into rainwater. Without rain water plants, or autotrophs, cannot perform adequate photosynthesis and carbon fixation, thus carbon build up continues to occur further trapping carbon in the atmosphere and increasing global climate. • 34. Sustainable Development Is Possible For Academic Research During the last eleven years my work in Belize has evidenced that sustainable development is possible when academic research incorporates community direction, and recognizes local expertise as a component in the formation of new knowledge. Indeed, we are able to manage problems and in many cases improve lives by collaborating to undertake community driven and academically supported initiatives. What is sometimes misunderstood in the context of academia, community based research promotes the creation of new knowledge through multiple sources including academia, local tacit expertise, and cultural context (Strand, Marullo, Cutforth, Stoecker, Donohue, 2003). Collaborative solutions to issues and challenges that work within the parameters of local resources are paramount to sustainability. Moreover, sustainability is critical in effecting a lasting improvement in the human condition. The projects that I implemented in December of 2014 and December of 2015 particularly those directed at soil quality are indicators of the effectiveness and sustainability of these collaborative efforts. Although these projects may seem diverse, in the context of addressing the challenges of food insecurity, poverty, lack of access to clean water, and environmental degradation; interdisciplinary solutions in the framework of the integrated natural resource management model could be employed to resolve these issues (Sanchez, Palm, Buol, 2003, p. 159). Hale s actions are very indefinite and he speaks in great uncertainty which reflects his loss of control and completely contrasts the manner in which he spoke towards the beginning of the play. His uncertainty is further proof of him beginning to question the justice of the events and his beliefs. Once again, we see Hale s lack of control and loss of reputation in Act III.
