So the company has been working to put in place a web based enrolment system that employees and
retirees can access from anywhere (Huering, 2003).
2.2 Advantages
From 1999, IBM began using online enrolment system. It bridged many advantages for IBM
Company. Two of important benefits are as following: For company, by utilizing the flexible benefits
application HRIS has to offer, IBM was able to cut costs. The company can save nearly $1.2 million
per year on printing and mailing costs alone. For employees, online enrolment system gives
employees the freedom to discover their benefits on their own time and pace. Employees can log in
personally and are greeted by name and with important information regarding their benefits
enrolment, such as the deadlines and when changes take effect. They automatically get access to
health plans that are available to them, and the calculator lets them compare estimated benefit amounts
for each plan. Employees can select the health care services which they expect to use in a particular
year, estimate expected frequency of use, and calculate potential costs under each plan option.
2.3 Challenges
HRIS can help company to reduce cost and improve the quality of management, but it also needs to
face many challenges. There are two important challenges should be attention by company. The

4. Advantages Of Gold Dinar System
Gold dinar system is one of the tools that can be recognised as a good indicator in international trade.
It is also can be determine as a valued metal because people over the world always demanding over it.
For my opinion regarding to this system, I strongly believe that the gold dinar system will benefiting
us over the world. As for Malaysia that has been categorised as a Muslim country, then it is the best
position to prove the efficiency of the system. Since we have been used fiat money in our system for
today, the currency of the paper actually does not have any intrinsic value. Thus, the currency that we
have nowadays, does not stable but eventually it is also fluctuated in its value unpredictably. By

The possibility of the value that is fluctuated by the gold must be only by little percentage whether it is
up or down. So, it is not attainable to devalue the gold by higher percentage. From this level, the gold
dinar currency can be known as a good currency in international trade between the nations. If we have
been using gold as our currencies against the traded products in the market, then there will be no such
a problem regarding to the exchange rate. The using of the gold dinar is not intended to be used as a
currency for our daily transaction but we can be used this for the national currencies. I found that this
system have a good combination of few factors that will boost from any economic turbulence thus
gives a lot of opportunity towards business sector in the international trade. By having the gold dinar
system, the trades of bilateral and multilateral among the other countries can be straightening out
thereby to eradicate the foreign exchange risk. For this mode, gold is to be utilized as a unit of account
and a medium of trade rather than the national monetary

In The Committee by Sun Allah Ibrahim, the open door policy has resulted in an economic and social
dependency on the Western world as Egyptians pride themselves in using American and European
commodities and global ideals they believe will enrich and improve their lives and country; however,
in reality these are detrimental to their society. Through the diversification of Western commodities
into Egypt, Egyptians lose their self sufficiency and nationalist values, allowing the Western world to
exploit Egyptian resources and profit through globalization. Egyptian society rejects their own
domestic products as a result of an obsession for the West and diversification of commodities from
around the world, giving them numerous other options to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The narrator passes by a street vendor selling consumers warm Cokes on a heated day at, [double] the
listed price on the pretext of imaginary ice (Ibrahim 137). By saying the vendor doubled price for
imaginary ice , shows the vendor is deceitful and exploits people s money by selling them beverages
in poor condition. He represents a society entranced by the idea of individual economic prosperity, to
the point of committing fraud and crime. Also, the vendor serves as a middleman between Egypt and
the Western world. While the vendor makes a small profit from selling overpriced American beverages
to Egyptian consumers, the real benefactors are the United States and Western World that profit from
the sales of many Egyptian sellers. In the long run, the vendor destroys his nation s economy by
selling Egyptians foreign goods instead of domestic goods because the profit flows back to the
Western world, not Egypt. Like the vendor selling Coke, the privatization of public services has
allowed the educated and wealthy to capitalize on profits when the average and poor people become
sick. The narrator reluctantly goes to a private practice for his broken arm, where he [pays] five

British Rule in India at the End of the First World War By the end of the First World War the British
Rule in India was still powerful, but would soon break down. However, thousands of Indians fought in
the war hoping that in return they would be given home rule. It would have been difficult to win
without the invaluable help of the Indians and their constant supply of manpower. India was a vast
supplier of raw materials to Britain and would in return buy British manufactured goods. Two thirds of
India was governed by the British, whilst the remainder was governed by Indian princes. The princely

However, there were outbreaks of violence in Punjab, which grew worse when the British government

change the government from 1919 to 1939? (15) The British government s attempts to change the
government were its numerous acts to satisfy the Indian opinion, as this is partially the main purpose
of why all these acts were introduced (to satisfy the Indians). The first Government of India act was
passed in December 1919 and put into effect The Montagu Chelmsford Reform which set up a system
know as the Dyrachy. To advise the Viceroy an Executive Council was also set up. Then, in 1927, the
Simon Commission was selected to evaluate the workings of the Montagu Chelmsford Reform. The
Rowlatt Acts were intended to extend the Defence of India Act into peacetime. This act would enable

8. The Media Regulation Of The Uk
The media regulation in the U.K. is more extensive compared to the U.S. Ofcom is an independent
regulator and competition authority across television, radio etc. The PCC, also an independent body,
deals with complaints from members of the public about editorial content of newspaper and
magazines. The behavior of media is far more regulated in Britain compared to the U.S. In U.S. the
views can complain about the content to individual media outlets but in Britain the complaints are
published on various governmental website making it more visible. This means that the impact of
government regulation is more evident in British media than in the American media.
BBC is the only media outlet that is not funded by any organization or advertisers. Anyone who owns
a television has to pay the license fee, which helps fund the BBC. In the most recent famous case,
Prime Minister Tony Blair s administration became furious over a report by a BBC freelance
correspondent that the Labour government had sexed up the evidence of weapons of mass destruction
in Iraq in order to build public consensus for sending British troops to war. Although it later became
apparent that evidence of these weapons was inconclusive, an inquiry into the matter (which also
involved the suicide of a government official responsible for unauthorized comments) led to the
resignation of both the head of the BBC Board of Governors and the BBC director general (Hutton

(3) In many circumstance of venous gas embolism patients has remained asymptomatic without
catastrophic consequences and hence go without reporting to hospital. Several gases have been used in
various medical procedures to improve treatment outcome. These include CO2, nitrous oxide (NO2)
and several other gases. Among the gases, CO2 has been the most widely used for insufflation in
diagnostic procedures and laparoscopic surgeries due to it high solubility in blood chemical inertness,
cost effectiveness, availability and its ability to be easily absorbed. However, in spite of the
advantages of CO2, its use in clinical practice also come with fatal complications such as venous gas
embolism, even though rare. Carbon dioxide (CO2) embolism (type of gas embolism), is a
phenomenon which can lead to serious sequelae and mortality. CO2 embolism is a rare complication
which ensues due to CO2 entrainment in the venous system. This type of embolism occurs mostly in
laparoscopic investigative procedures and laparoscopic surgeries as CO2 remain the most ideal gas for
induction of pneumoperitoneum, especially in abdominal and gynecological surgical procedures.

13. The s Social Status Of The Community Essay
Marks audience was in an honor or shame culture where boasting was considered necessary to
confirm one s social status in the community. That was why the disciples were arguing among
themselves who was the greatest. Also at that time the audience might have question about
establishing the limit of who was with them and who was not with them instead of focusing against
the enemy, Satan. Mark wanted the audience to follow Jesus teaching that whoever wanted to be first
must become last of all and servant of all. He also wanted them to know that a man could not use
Jesus name to do mighty work and speak evil of him later. He concluded that for whoever is not
against us is for us . Mark mentioned Jesus teaching on selfless service and he especially used a child
as an illustration. The child had no power, no status and few rights. A child was dependent, vulnerable,
entirely subject to the authority of the father. But Jesus chose child to represent those who were needy
and lowly. If one wanted to be great, one should show attention on those who were regards as
insignificant. Jesus advised the disciples not to oppose the man who performed miracles in Jesus name
as he would not soon speak evil of him. Jesus also used proverbial that for whoever is not against us is
for us to help the disciples to establish the boundary of who was with them and who was not with

participating in the educational programs at the Huttonsville Correctional Center in West Virginia and
claimed that inmates who participated in the educational programs were less likely to recidivate once

The information provided from the study is not distorted per say, it supports their claim, but their test
area is too small to make any real claims of education affecting recidivism. The article Educated
Prisoners Are Less Likely to Return to Prison by James Vacca (2004), deals with the subject of if
prisoners receive the right type of educational programs in prison their risk of recidivism goes down
immensely. Vacca states that Since 1990, the literature has shown that prisoners who attend
educational programs while they are incarcerated are less likely to return to prison following their
release (2004). Vacca cites many examples of the types of educational courses the inmates should have
to help them deal with their emotions and problems. The educational programs help the inmates deal
with their social skills, encourage artistic development, and teach techniques on how to deal with their
emotions (Vacca, 2004). These programs would help inmates deal with the issues that put them in
prison in the first place and knowing these skills can then help keep them out of prison in the future. I
find these arguments to be sound because Vacca shows the research from other people all over that
concurs with his own claims of how these programs can keep recidivism at bay (2004). He cites many
examples and goes into depth about why inmates may be in prison and what these programs will do to
correct their problems and turn them into a real

Carton to be considered a hero. At the end of the book, Carton gave up his life so Charles Darnay
could live. Darnay was sent to court right when him and Lucie got back to England. After Carton hear
the news he thought maybe there was a chance Lucie would end up with him if Darnay got killed.
After realizing that Lucie wasn t going to want him regardless, he wanted to do what was best for
Lucie. He then went and talked to Lucie and Dr. Monnet about his plan. He was going to switch spots

16. The Depletion Of The Bee Population
While often only appreciated for their honey, honeybees are responsible for pollinating about one third
of the food that the human population consumes. Bees provide us with fruits, berries, nuts, vegetables,
coffee, and so much more. This is why the depletion of the bee population beginning in 2006 was, and
as it continues, so concerning. The term Colony Collapse Disorder refers to a phenomenon in which
worker bees vanish from the hive, leaving the queen and larvae unattended, and thus the bee colony
ceases to function and collapses. This is happening throughout the United States at an alarming rate,
and while one distinct cause for CCD has yet to be found, scientists have narrowed it down to a few
possible reasons.
Honeybees are social insects that live in eusocial communities in which the bees partake in complex
activities and live in well organized groups. There are three types of bees that exist within the hive: the
queen, the drone, and the worker. Each colony has one queen bee, whose primary function is
reproduction. She also produces pheremones which represses the ovarian development in the worker
bees which unifies the colony and maintains her position as queen, until a new one takes over. Drones
are the male bees of the colony, and their sole purpose within the hive is for reproduction. Worker bees
perform all of the duties to maintain the hive, including building cells, care for and feed the young,
care for the queen, handle nectar to produce honey, and guard the

18. The Four Objects In Ancient Egyptian Religion
The four objects I have picked set a tone on what Ancient Egyptian religion was like. Ancient
Egyptian religion was not based on a set of theological Ideals, but they were more connected to nature
and the elements or even animals. As you can see I have chosen four different animals and all are
associated with Egyptian religion. Each of these animals plays a very important role in Ancient
Egyptian lifestyle and how they could all be connected.
The first object I picked was the Head of a calcite figure of a cow . This is supposed to represent the
animal manifestation of the goddess of the west, Hathor. The Head of a calcite figure of a cow is
coloured white because it represents omnipotence and purity. Hathor was well known as the goddess
of fertility and the reason for this is that he is the protectress of pregnant women and midwives. She
was the patron of all women and it did not matter what stages they were in their lives.
The second object I have picked was the cat statue, and the cat is related to the goddess Bastet. Bastet

21. Analysis Of George Berkeley s Philosophy
George Berkeley is considered one the greatest modern philosophers, yet when he is studied he is seen
as misguided and inaccurate. It seems that sometimes we study his errors more than his achievements.
Many critiques of Berkeley are results of misunderstanding Berkeley s philosophy. One very famous
critique is from Samuel Johnson who lived around the same time as Berkeley. Johnson kicked a stone
and said, I refute it thus . Why did Johnson believe he could refute Berkeley by kicking a stone? Did
he misunderstand Berkeley, and if not what did he mean by this?
To discover what Johnson meant we must first learn about what he was refuting. Berkeley has three
main beliefs: 1. Idealism: the only things that exist are minds and their ideas; 2. Phenomenalism:
Physicals objects are big collections of possible senses; and 3. Immaterialism: there is no such thing as
a physical substance (something that exists independently). With Berkeley s beliefs he has two
motivations: 1. to oppose skepticism and 2. to promote religion, Berkeley was a bishop of the
Anglican church so you can see why promoting religion was so important to him.
Berkeley was an empiricist. Empiricism is the theory that all knowledge is derived from sense
experiences. Some other famous empiricists are Thomas Locke and David Hume. Berkeley is thought
to be the bridge between Locke and Hume. Locke believed that primary qualities such as length,
shape, and motion existed in the world. While secondary qualities such

24. Why Is Nuclear Waste Bad For The Environment
Lately it seems as if if the Earth has been deteriorating. It is quite common to hear of the impact of the
overuse of energy sources. Because our population has abused the wonderful powers of energy, the
Earth is suffering from the aftermath. Environmental damage being one of its biggest consequences.
The use of energy can have positive effects if society learns how to manage it well. While nuclear
energy can generate plenty of electricity, it can easily be abused. Nuclear energy plants can
unfortunately be preferred targets for terrorists, also producing nuclear waste. Nuclear waste is bad for
the environment because it requires a dumping ground due to the fact that it cannot be processed. If
this continues, there will eventually be no more

25. The Voyages Of The Slave Trade Voyages
Other risks that affected the slave trade voyage, indirectly to investors while directly to the ship
owner, captain and others aboard included natural disasters due to weather and navigation, attacks by
pirates or competing trading countries, slave rebellions, and diseases as mentioned before. The
weather and natural disasters is not widely cited as a great risk to these voyages. Nonetheless, it is
imperative in the analysis if we are trying to capture a complete picture of the supply line of slaves to
the colonies. At the very start of the trade in 1514, voyages only crossed the Southern Atlantic Ocean,
but as the trade grew by 1650, and slaves started to be shipped to North America and some to Europe,
as shown in figure 2, captains also had to face the rough conditions that came with sailing the northern
Atlantic Ocean (Slave voyages, 2014)
Figure 2. This table shows the destination of the voyages from the beginning of the trade, until it was
abolished. Notice that slaves were not shipped farther north until later in the slave trade, starting with
the British Caribbean and moving north. (Slaves Embarked Table, 2014)
While crossing the Atlantic, fears of being attacked by pirates, or taken over by a Spanish ship were
very real (Eltis et al., 2010). The reasons for such attacks are clear; the ships transported valuable
goods (slaves, among other goods such as gold and ivory) and was very vulnerable in the middle of
the ocean, with only a small crew aboard to defend it.

26. Occupational Therapy Is A Career Which Helps To Assist
Occupational therapy is a career which helps to assist those that are unable to perform the basic skills
required in their specific occupation. It is best known for its unique nature, high demand, and potential
for extreme success and fulfillment. To understand occupational therapy, one must understand the
unique nature of the career. Therapists provide assistance in the areas of self help, paid and non paid
work, and leisure activities. Secondly, personal attributes, rigorous educational requirements, and
flexibility working with a vast age range in a variety of clinical settings contribute to occupational
therapy being in high demand despite its consistent popularity. Lastly, the work can be challenging

Occupational therapists offer treatment in three different areas. First, they provide assistance with self
care activities such as walking, eating, communicating, personal care, or even shopping for food.
Secondly, they help individuals to be productive in whatever occupation they participate whether it is
paid work or not. Thirdly, they help with leisure activities such as socializing, sports, and other
outdoor activities.
When people are unable to participate in the daily activities of their occupation, Brown and Hollis
(2013) reported that people can experience a brief pause or disruption in their normal activities, a
deprived state of activity that can severely restrict social, cultural, or personal engagements, or create
an imbalance when a person becomes unoccupied, under occupied, or over occupied (p.1246).
Eventually, any of these lapses in functioning can create or intensify other physical or mental issues.
Santrock (2012) expressed that occupational therapists help people regain, develop, and build skills
that are important for independent functioning, health, well being, security, and happiness (p.45).
Perhaps occupational therapy on the whole can be described as utilizing multiple techniques to help
different people with one or several distinct impairments that hinder them at various times in their life.
Kronenberg and Pollard (2006) stated that occupational therapy is said to be based

organization. There are many facets to the communication that needs distributing to ensure the largest
audience is aware of the new, state of the art MRI, magnetic resonance imaging. The internal staff

Flyers can be used for any message that needs to be distributed as long as the information fits on the

29. Ecological Validity
Ecological Validity is defined as, how well a study can be related to or reflects everyday, real life.
Studies with high ecological validity can be generalised beyond the setting they were carried out in,
whereas studies low in ecological validity cannot. With this, we are able to see that experiments that
take place in a natural environments and can generalise the findings to the outside world have high
ecological validity. Whereas, if the experiments lack realism and has little in common with the natural
environment, then the experiments would have low ecological validity.
When looking at Harlow s Monkey Study, we must look at the location of the study and the number of
test subjects involved. As mentioned in previous slides, Harlow s Monkey Study took place in a
laboratory. This means that the Rhesus monkeys were placed in an environment which was unnatural
to them, and therefore, the results may differ slightly if they were in their natural environment.
Secondly, the sample size of eight Rhesus monkeys is far too small to conclude that the findings are
reliable and accurate. Thirdly, as stated in previous slides as well, Harlow would be unable to carry out
his experiments on humans because of how unethical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Monkeys, it will allow Harlow s study to be more accurate and reliable by increasing the Ecological
Validity and allowing the study to be more

33. The Role Of Logistics Air Force ( Usaf ) Operations And By...
I. INTRODUCTION
Background The role of logistics in United States Air Force (USAF) operations and by extension
United States military operations cannot be underestimated nor undervalued. People of both
professional and academic backgrounds have spent considerable time studying and capturing the
relevant points of its application. While critical to almost all military units and corporations alike,
logistics in definition and application is not easily defined. It is an over arching word covering many
disparate topics such as supply, sustainment, production, transportation, warehousing, maintenance,
planning, and others.
The USAF implements logistics at the tactical, operational and strategic levels with the Air Force
Materiel Command (AFMC) being its largest logistics focused organization. AFMC is home to
strategic organizations such as the Air Force Sustainment Center (AFSC) and the Air Force Life Cycle
Management Center. Organizations such as the 635th Supply Chain Operations Wing (SCOW),
logistics readiness squadrons and aerial port squadrons implement logistics at the USAF operational
and tactical level. AFMC and the agencies it commands are the USAF s primary interfaces for both
internal and external logistics support; it interfaces with suppliers such as the Defense Logistics
Agency and General Services Administration and vendors like Boeing, Lockheed Martin, and Kovach
Mobile Equipment.
The USAF employs a significant number of Airmen, civilian, and

As part of the festivities, a firkin of the Farmhouse Ale was tapped by Carnival Vice President of

enough barnyard funk to keep me coming back for more. The malts for the Smoked Porter are smoked
on board using the ships smoker. The smoke wasn t overpowering and I think it will pair nicely with
the smoked BBQ. The West Coast IPA is hopped with Simcoe, Amarillo, and Centennial hops. While
the aroma and taste of pine and citrus begin to blast your senses it finishes with a malty backbone. The
refreshing Toasted Amber Ale gives off notes of lite caramel and biscuity malts. I m sure all four
offerings will be welcomed with open arms aboard the Horizon. While they are all tasty in their own
right, I think the flavor profile was dialed back a touch to appeal to a wider audience. Craft beer
drinkers will be able to appreciate each beer while folks new to craft will also be able to enjoy a

North Korea and Kim Jong Un
Kim Jong Un is the the 29 year old ruler of North Korea, one of the most distinctive and unpredictable
countries in the world. It is a cocktail of poisonous elements: autocratic, repressive, isolated and poor
(Powell). Its regime is dangerous not only to its people but also to the rest of the world. Its actions have
had an unsettling impact on international relations in northeast Asia, particularly its nuclear tests in
2006 and 2009 and its shelling of Yeonpyeong Island in 2010, all of which led to tensions between
China and the united States (Ahn). North Korea s present and future, therefore, are of global concern

Today, everyone in a position of power in North Korea is at least twice Kim Jong Un s age and vastly
more experienced (Powell). But they continue to salute him at a moments notice. Any disrespect has
meant at minimum, a sentence in North Korea s notorious gulag and at worst death. Consider one
especially brutal case: in the mid 1990s, just as the famine that would eventually kill millions of North
Koreans was taking hold, reports of grumbling and dissent in a prominent Korean People s Army s
division reached Pyongyang (Powell). Kim Jong Il, according to an intelligence source, had the unit s
officer corps several dozen men arrested and then made the enlisted men watch what could potentially
be their future. The arrested officers were required to lie in the middle of a road, their hands and legs
tied. Several tanks rumbled forward and ran back and forth over the officers, crushing them to death
(Powell). This combination of mercilessness, beliefs and seclusion lead many observers of North
Korea to believe that there is no question Kim Jong Un will be making the decisions now, says a
former intelligence analyst in East Asia. He may make the decisions, but they will be based on
information filtered through those around him, men who are not peers but elders (Powell). In addition

The Arabic Language In the world there are many languages, some are difficult and some are simple;
some are ancient, some are modern. One of the oldest and hardest languages in the world is the Arabic

The Arabic language began in the 8th century B.C, but it developed twelve centuries later in 4 A.D.
The first people to speak this language are the Christians, but after four hundred years later the
Muslims spoke the same language because they lived together in the same area. (The Middle East) In

where the continents of Africa, Europe and Asia meet. According to the USC School of Education
more than two hundred eighty million people in twenty six countries speak the Arabic language, but

38. The Impact Of Charlie Chaplin s Impact On Film
Throughout this course, we have talked about a lot of different directors, photographers, artists, actors,
etc., involved in some of the most foundational and original films during the silent film era. However,
the person who really intrigued me the most was, none other than, Charlie Chaplin. In fact, I d like to
use this paper to further explore his life and career to gain some perspective on who he was and the
steps it took for him to rise to fame. I believe his impact on film throughout his life was extremely
influential, and in order to understand that impact, I must start from the beginning. Charles S. Chaplin
was born in London, England on April 16th of 1889. His father, Charles Chaplin Sr. and mother,
Hannah Harriett (stage name: Lily Harley), each doubled as vocalists and stage performers. Thanks to
his parents, Charlie discovered his talents at an early age. He was only five years old when he made
his first appearance on stage as a fill in for his mother at a music hall performance. After that, his
passion for the performing arts could only grow larger. However, his life took a dramatic turn after his
father left and his mother was subsequently put into an asylum, all before the age of ten. Because of
this, Charlie and his brother Sydney were set off on a hard journey where they were left to fend for
themselves. After two years spent with his half brother in an ill kept orphanage, doing his best to use
