Investing Stocks and Bonds
Investing in Stocks and Bonds Stocks and Bonds are different in many ways. A stock is a portion or
share of the ownership of a corporation. A share will give the owner of the stock the company s profits
or loses over time. The good thing about stocks is they can be sold at almost any time as long as there
is someone willing to buy. A bond, on the other hand, is a fixed interest financial asset issued by
governments, companies, banks, and other large entities. Bonds also are called funds. Bonds pay the
owner a fixed amount a specific date, or on specified dates depending on the type of bond. If the bond
is a discount bond, then there is one pay date at the end. If the bond is a coupon bond, then it pays a
fixed amount over a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I tried Chevron Corporation because they seemed reliable compared to other oil and gas companies
(Chevron). Chevron Corporation has been known to strive beyond expectations, and care for the
safety of the workforce and environment (Chevron). Chevron products are recognized for their quality,
performance, and technology around the world (Chevron). I decided to be on the safe side and only
invest 1,000 dollars in Chevron Corporation because of the risk factor that comes into play with the oil
and gas industry. Chevron Corporation actually did well after all. The share prices were high to start
with. Chevron Corporation had one stock split within the ten years. In September of 2004, the 2:1 split
helped my number of shares go from about 48 shares to around 97 shares total. In the end I owned a
total of approximately 180 shares. These shares sold for a big $105.38 each. This nearly doubled the
10,000 dollars. The total after the ten years in Chevron Corporation was $18,982.67. The one mutual
fund I invested in was with PIMCO. This global investment authority offers many different bonds
such as: absolute return bonds, asset allocations, convertibles, municipal bonds, core bonds, etc.
(PIMCO). The bond I chose was a core bond. This bond was the PIMCO Total Return Fund. This
particular fund focuses on a solid core fixed income (PIMCO). The fund will typically invest in a

It seems that this kind of activity or business is replacing the conventional way of music distribution,
which is selling records through store. In Indonesia, digital distribution business is starting to develop.
Music publishers, recording companies and consumers are already aware of this phenomenon. Music
downloading is familiar in consumers life, whether buying music from the internet or sharing music.
But the most familiar one is RBT, Ring Back Tone. Almost everyone in the country use cell phone and
almost every cell phone has RBT, it is quite a fad actually. This is one of the largest business in music
industry and music publishers and companies are aware that establishing cooperation with
telecommunication provider is important. This business is one of the highest income in music industry.
Research Question This paper discusses about the marketing strategy for digital music distribution
system, more specifically in Indonesian music industry. It discusses about: How is the latest condition
in Indonesian music industry? What are the differences between conventional way of distribution and
digital distribution? How is the effective marketing strategy for digital music distribution in
Indonesia? Most of the journals used as source explain in general scope of industry or in the US music
industry. To relate it with Indonesian music industry, sources from magazine articles is featured as

The Rights Of Indigenous People
In 2008 Grassy Narrows came in the form of a 1,800 kilometer walk to Queens Park in Toronto where
they had a Sovereignty Sleepover with other First Nations groups seeking to safeguard their lands
from industrial exploitation. The UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples formally
recognizes the right to give or withhold consent for industrial projects on traditional lands. The three
communities have declared halts on industrial activity occurring without their consent, but the
Province has refused to respect them and continues to issue industrial permits for logging and mining
projects that the communities assert are damaging to the health, culture, and future of their people.
They demanded that the UN address the Canadian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

what it was and clean up. (which at Queens Park ended up corn starch, water and soluble paint ) 6
people were arrested for mischief by the Toronto Police Discussion Question: Was this protest was

terrorist threat to commercial sector Essay
How real do you think the terrorist threat is to the commercial sector? Explain and justify your opinion
In my opinion the terrorist threat to the commercial sector is a very real one which should not be
overlooked. The commercial sector within the UK consists of a multitude of different industries that as
a whole make up the UK economy, each industry conducts its business and trade by relying on the
other to fulfill its supply and demand which is turn provides consumer confidence, that in itself is
what the economy is based on which makes it susceptible and vulnerable whenever there is disruption
to a sector

The Economic consequences of terrorism (Lenain, P (2002) stated that Private businesses suffered
profound destruction of assets that was calculated in national accounts to amass to $14billion, state
and federal government enterprises suffered a loss in the region of $2billion, what was also astounding
to read was that the rescue and clean up costs totaled to an amount of at least $11billion.
The OECD report also explains how as a result of the attacks on both the US and UK, both counties
have become more vigilant by increasing their border controls. This has slowed down the rate of
supply at which goods are able to flow between countries and increased costs. Increased security
checks at air, rail and seaports have seen delays for passengers and may impact the tourist industry as
it impinges on travel plans. Many companies now choose to use video conferencing instead. The
OECD goes on to explain that government spending policies have also shifted with more money now
being spent on defense and security.

The Big Data
Imagine being in a room with 10 people talking to you. Would you be able to understand the
conversations? It would be hard to concentrate on any one person s conversation, but you could
probably do it. Now, imagine being at the Superdome with 70,000 people talking to you. Would you
be able to understand any of the conversations? You probably could not understand any one person for
a length of time, but again you might pick out some of the words. Well, what if the scenario was 7
billion people speaking 6 thousand languages at an auctioneer s pace on the topic of their personal
family lineage; would you be able to create someone s whole family tree? This is the type of scenario
that represents the different facets of Big Data. What does it mean to say big data ? Big Data is more
than just massive amounts of data stored together. It is more than just data delivered or analyzed fast.
Meta Group s Doug Laney described it as data that has volume, velocity, and variety (2001). This is
the 3 V s of Big Data and is widely used to define it. Additions to this definition include other V s,
such as veracity and value (XXX). What is volume? Volume could be 7 billion people speaking at
once. It can be the data created by millions of Americans uploading photos, buying shoes online, or
searching for the definition of Big Data. It is the volume of data being created by researchers at
unprecedented amounts to chart the stars, to map the human genome, or to trend

A Classical View Of The Romantic Movement
Hypothesis: John Keats Odes were heavily influence by Classical ideologies which related to the
wider philosophy of the Romantic Movement.
This essay will apply a Classical perspective to John Keats Odes. I will examine how John Keats was
inspired by the ideologies of the Greeks and Roman mythology. John Keats based his Odes on Roman
myths and Greek artefacts; he used these to explore wider themes that relate to Greek Philosophy. This
essay will show how Keats related the wider philosophy of the Romantic Movement to the ideologies
to the Classical eras. It will also show the cultural similarities between Antiquity and 19th century
Britain which evoked similar lines of thought. The similarities which characterised each of the three
eras are linked by the socio cultural context of war and tyrannous government. [Holden, S, 1970;
Long, AA, 1985] This led to a movement in philosophical thought in both eras that examined ways to
improve the human condition. Both Keats and Greek philosophers saw attaining pleasure as the means
of achieving this objective.
AA Long s analysis of Epicureanism enables me to develop an understanding of Epicureanism in
order for me to develop my own critical perspective on John Keats as AA long is a primary and
reliable source as he is a British and American classical scholar and professor of classics. He has a
greater understanding of the classical world and he understands Epictetus the studies in Hellenistic
and Roman mythology. John Keats had

Women in Singapore should be allowed to fight in the front line Being part of the front line combat
refers to being part of the most advanced tactical combat units forming a military line. Women in
Singapore should be allowed to fight in the front line. It is undeniable that it would require high
physical strength that most women lack, but women can be trained to be just as capable as men, if not
better, or assume front line positions requiring less physical strength. The generalised statement of
women being weaker should not restrict them from taking up front line combat positions. Women in

It would only be fair to give equal opportunities to women who are able to meet the same
requirements as men and it would also promote equality with them being as capable as the men.
Restricting women because they are weaker is a generalised statement and not a fact that associates
with specific women. Major Gregory Trahan was witness to a female supply sergeant replacing a
trained infantryman after running through a gauntlet of seven mortar rounds that exploded
continuously as the three vehicle convoy he was commanding came under fire during his 2003 2004
tour in and around Ramadi, Iraq. When the squad automatic weapon (SAW) gunner in her truck was
shot, but not severely injured and was too terrified to get back on the gun, she radioed back to Major
Gregory Trahan and received instructions to get someone back up there, so she put the gunner in her
seat, got up, and started pulling security with the vehicle. The irony was, the gunner who had been
pulling security on that truck was the armorer, who was an infantryman and the backbone of the army,
while she was just a supply sergeant, and women were barred from the job of that armorer. Army

Energy Balances Lab
Theory
The main goal of this experiment is to analyze and determine the closure of the energy balances
around various heat exchangers, including shell and tube and two different double pipe exchangers, in
a steady state system. Additionally, the overall heat transfer coefficient for the shell and tube heat
exchanger is to be calculated, and the heat transfer areas for the double pipe heat exchangers are to be
calculated to determine if one or both possess fins.
Energy balances will be used evaluate three heat exchangers at steady state conditions in this
experiment. The most basic energy balance can be written as,

Literature values for the overall heat transfer coefficients are provided in the Appendix, for both oil
water and steam oil heat exchangers. The overall heat transfer coefficients calculated for the shell and
tube heat exchanger will be compared to the literature value to determine the accuracy experimentally
calculated coefficients. Additionally, the overall heat transfer coefficient for the double pipe
exchangers will be provided by the literature data, and this will allow for equation 8 to be solved for
the area of the double pipe heat exchanger.
The area of heat transfer in Equation 8 varies depending upon the type of heat exchanger being used.

The Challenger Disaster
The Challenger Disaster
By: Kathy Neuner Jeremy Rider
Executive Summary Many factors must be examined to find the underlying reason for the horrible
disaster of the space shuttle Challenger. We will cover both the technical causes to the disaster and the
communication breakdown with NASA. We will also look at the outside pressure that NASA was
receiving from the media, congress and the military. Recommendations for NASA and anyone in the
communication field will be given. These recommendations will help to avoid any further problems
with communication in any organization. The O rings failed to properly seal the gap in the joint seal.

If the Orings do not properly seal these gaps it is possible for exhaust gasses to get into the internal
structure of the joint field. The extreme temperatures of the exhaust gasses are too high for the internal
joint, known as the Tang and Clevis, to handle. The Tang and Clevis are the two main parts of the
joint. They are mating sections that are held together with one hundred seventy seven pins. Without
the O rings, the Tang and Clevis are not able to withstand the extreme pressure of exhaust gasses.

Figure 1. Cross section view of field joint located in the Solid Rocket Booster
Four Technical Problems First let s look at the four mechanical aspects of the Challengers problems,
blow holes, O Ring erosion, joint rotation, and the response of O Rings during low temperature. The
condition of the primary seal is essential to the successful operation of the rocket booster. Engineers
had to make sure that the seal was not damaged, so they increased the pressure of the leak test to
above the pressure that the putty could withstand. This was supposed to make sure the O ring was
correctly covering the gap without the help of the putty. Blow holes were tiny tunnel like holes that
were left in the zinc chromate putty of the rocket booster insulation. The putty was supposed to protect
the O rings from the hot exhaust. The holes were a result of pressurized test known as the leak check
port. The leak test left engineers worried; they didn t think that the

the important detail in this article is that, replay needed to be reviewed and had to be used in more

now mangers have 2 challenges instead of one during the previously season they only could challenge

and needing to be quicker on decision with the call on the field. The purpose this article is trying to
inform is, rules needing to be reviewed and changed. Also technology is helping baseball get the call
right and making the game exciting. The author is trying to target baseball fans that want to see

History of Punishment
According to (Seiter, 2011) Cesare Beccaria is known as the founder of the classical school of
criminology, the first organized theory of crime causation linked to appropriate punishments.
According to (Seiter, 2011) Beccaria suggested that the purpose of punishment is utility or the
prevention of crime. According to (Seiter, 2011) Jeremy Bentham is the creator of the hedonistic
calculus suggesting that punishments outweigh the pleasure criminals get from committing crime.

The Walnut street jail was the first penitentiary in the United States according to (Seiter, 2011).
According to (Seiter, 2011) the Pennsylvania system was known as the separate and silent system with
silence enforced and inmates not allowed to see or talk with each other. Through this approach, it was
believed that offenders would not be morally contaminated and be trained in crime by other prisoners.
According to (Seiter, 2011) the Auburn system became known as the congregate and silent system as
officials continued to reduce the spread of criminals ideas by inmates through silence and strict
discipline they wanted inmates to march with their eyes looking down at the ground. They did not
want the inmates to give other inmates ideas. According to (Seiter, 2011) the emphasis was on having
inmates work and produce products that could help make the prisons economically self supporting

Ivf Essay
[pic] In vitro fertilisation (IVF) marks a great step forward in medical technology, and Australia is a
leader in the field. IVF is now a popular procedure for couples who are infertile or are having trouble
conceiving. However, it raises ethical, moral and legal issues including the rights of an individual,
property rights, the definition of human life, scientific experimentation versus a potential human life,
religion, costs, and community, medical and taxpayer s rights. The process of IVF involves mixing the
woman s egg and the man s sperm outside of the woman s body, usually in a petri dish. Invitro

However, with such low statistics it is important to keep in mind that each infertile couple may go
through many cycles of IVF; therefore it could end up costing them tens of thousands of dollars. On
the other hand, with Australia s declining birth rate, we should provide more encouragement for
people to have children, instead of making them pay thousands of dollars. Unfortunately for infertile
couples, infertility is not considered a health problem, and therefore it is not funded by the
government. Is it fair that only financially able infertile couples can afford IVF, when it should be
available to all infertile couples? An issue that has caused great legal debate is the freezing of eggs and
embryos. Freezing allows savings eggs or embryos for later implantation; not all are used. However,
frozen embryos and eggs generally have a lower success rate. The question arises of what happens to
them if the couple decides to divorce, or one or both of them dies? These situations have been decided
through court determinations. In 1987, the status of frozen embryos was brought before the Victorian
courts with the case of Mr and Mrs Rios, who had died in a plane crash. The embryos from Mr and
Mrs Rios had been frozen in 1981. There were many ethical and moral concerns regarding this case.
Should the embryos remain frozen indefinitely, be donated, or kept for research? The Infertility

The Interactions between Short-Term Memory and Long-Term...
The Interactions between Short Term Memory and Long Term Memory: What is the Messaging
Protocol?
1. Introduction
Computers store data in memory, and simulate human memory when they achieve this. It might be
easy to predict the mechanism of how computer memory works, but the function of human memory is
much more sophisticated. Basically, the role of memory is to retain information, store them and
retrieve when it is necessary. According to Bunuel (1984), You have to begin to lose your memory, if
only in bits and pieces, to realize that memory is what makes our lives. Life without memory is no life
at all. Our memory is our coherence, our reason, our feeling, even our action. Without it, we are
nothing (pp.4 5). This simply illustrates the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first one is the episodic memory which is related to personal experiences while the second one is
the semantic memory which is knowledge of words, concepts, symbols and objects. Surprisingly,
cognitive researchers believe that short term memory is a reflection of long term memory. However,
others argue that these two types of memory function differently. Thus, the link between STM and
LTM is still a controversial issue. Since memory has been of interest to psycholinguists and
researchers, many tend to decode the message passing between these two major components of
memory.
Is there a messaging protocol that may link both ? To what extent each one can affect the other?
This paper analyzes the studies that have been conducted to look at the underlying relationship
between STM and LTM through the demonstration of a body of research conducted in this field.
2. Retrieving from Short Term Memory Information is stored in STM for a short period of time, and it
is retrieved from there. Of course, there are processes that occur during such. There is a task
introduced by Sternberg (2004) to determine the recall mechanism. In this task, a set of seven items is
presented one at a time, and the participants go over a memory test item which is called a probe. The
participants must decide whether this probe is on the set or not.

Summary Of Made In America By Kilibrand
Kirsten Gillibrand presents herself as a person who wants to get her point across and someone that is
serious about their job. She always has a goal and tries to work toward that goal to achieve and make
things better for the community. Kirsten does a lot of campaign ads to get her point across and to
ensure the people that she is trying her best to help them. Her campaign ads are usually videos she
uses so help get a point across. One of the campaign ads I saw was a video called Made in America .
In this video, Kirsten talked about where she was from and how she knows what the people is going
through so it is her job to help fix the situation. In the video, she showed her family and expressed that
upstate New York is where they call home so she sympathizes with the people on the point. Also, she
starts to talk about the economic priorities taxes so she tried to fix things by making giving a property
tax relief, she wrote an upstate job bill, and she voted to end tax breaks. These are all the things the
people were looking for as a start to fix the economy in upstate New York. ... Show more content on

Everything that she said in the video she has listed on her website. She makes it clear that her main
goal is change and to fix the issues that Upstate citizens are facing. When you go to her website one of
the first things you see is a paragraph about what she plans to do to help fix the state. When looking at
that paragraph you should be able to see that she listed her number one priority is rebuilding the
economy. This was a good comparison because unlike many legislatures you usually see their ads and
websites not matching up with things they have said but Gillibrand s is spot on and I can see that she
is serious about her job and she wants to help fix what has been

Media Role Models and the Effect on Children
Media construct our culture, and the media we use to communicate with one another shapes our
perception of reality. Our society is centered on media, it is the most influential factor in constructing
our culture, but is it a positive culture? If we examine the effect that media has on children, we can say
that it breeds a harmful culture, one that throws values and morals out the window. This is because the
media is profit driven and has developed its own code of ethics of anything goes . As a result, children
are exposed to things that they should not necessarily be exposed to yet and as a result it rushes their
mental development and in fact moulds their mentality. This is a scary fact because these children s
minds are susceptible ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another example we could look at is Britney Spears, young girls who like Britney Spears think that
she is ‘cool and thus they strive to be just like her, and this involves acting like Britney and more
importantly buying Britney Spears products such as her clothing. So in conclusion these media
personalities are popular among children and idolized by them because they are promoted as being
cool and for a child to be cool they must be just like them, which involves buying their products.
These media personalities are in essence products themselves that the media bodies try to sell to
children on the basis of ‘cool , and once they can be sold to the children as being cool, their entire
franchise benefits because their image can create the demand for all products with their likeness.
Now let s look at the effect that these media personalities have on children in the age group 5 and
under. We assume that children are safe watching educational programming such as Blue s Clues ,
Dora the explorer and Teletubbies , but are they really as safe as we think they are. First off, these
types of television shows are educational and do in fact teach young children while keeping them
entertained. This can be seen as a positive influence on our kids and these characters as being positive

Simon Sanek Motivation
Motivation In the Ted talk How Great Leaders Inspire Action by Simon Sinek is about inspiration.
Can somebody be inspired to do great things? With a little discipline any leader or organization can
inspire others, both inside and outside their organization to help advance their ideas and their vision
(Sinek). With the proper discipline, people may move mountains. We need that motivation we need
people who inspire to do amazing things. This inspiration will help anybody absorb more of the
concept that they might be interested in. Inspiration is something that makes someone want to do or
create a force or influence that inspires someone. I think inspiration is the thing that makes people get

Martin Luther King knew what to tell the people who had traveled many miles to hear what he had to
say. The way that he expressed what he wanted to accomplish was a very good idea. He did not start
by saying I have a plan. he started by saying, I have a dream. That got people s attention. That was the
hook. The people wanted to know more about his dream and how affective it can be. He delivered a
great speech. He had followers who would go anywhere to see and hear what he had to say. It is not
why you do it, it is how you do it. Martin Luther King did capture how people felt about the subject
matter that he spoke about. There are many people who go back and try to imitate the way Martin
Luther King communicated with the people. Therefore, it was such a good way to speak to the people

Examination of the Main Issues of the Euthanasia Debate...
Examination of the Main Issues of the Euthanasia Debate
Introduction
Talk of suicide and euthanasia has long been the focus of media attention. Recently this debate has
been furthermore justified with the advent of European clinics that specialise in professional mercy
killings for the terminally ill and those suffering incurable pain.
To add to this, suicide rates in this country are ever increasing, with this being one of the ten most
common causes of death in the UK. More worrying is the increasingly high number of adolescent
youth and young men, who being particularly prone to depression, take their own lives.
With the fact that it is still deemed as morally wrong, it must be ... Show more content on

One way in which we can all look into these issues is to imagine the situation happening within our
lives. How would you feel given the option of life or death? If life is intolerable and you see the
suffering on family and friends, what decision would you like to make? Should politicians, who have
no personal interest, be able to decide our fate?
The term euthanasia means the intentional killing by act or omission of a dependent human being for
his or her alleged benefit. (The key word here is intentional . If death is not intended, it is not an act of
euthanasia). Voluntary euthanasia is when the person who is killed has requested to be killed. Non
voluntary: When the person who is killed made no request and gave no consent. Involuntary
euthanasia: When the person who is killed made an expressed wish to the contrary. Assisted suicide:
Someone provides an individual with the information, guidance, and means to take his or her own life
with the intention that they will be used for this purpose. When it is a doctor who helps another person
to kill themselves it is called physician assisted suicide. Euthanasia By Action: Intentionally causing a
person s death by performing an action such as by giving a lethal injection. Euthanasia By Omission:
Intentionally causing death by not providing necessary and ordinary (usual and customary) care or
food and water.

Music Personal Statement
A very wise mentor once advised me to, Figure out what you do; get up every day and do that . Over
my years as an undergrad music education major, I found one thing to be a constant I could not help
but ask questions. I was unable to find contentment simply learning what was taught. Participating in
the school of honors allowed my professors to assign me additional projects, where I was able to seek
out answers and, in turn, more questions. In Music History 1, my professor, Dr. Jamie Weaver,
enthusiastically encouraged my love of early music, specifically early folk music and the influence of
the crusades on the music of the common people. Research became a vital component of my education
that I loved, not just an assignment. As opportunities to present my research arose, first for community
music organizations, then for school events, professors began suggesting the field of musicology as a

our culture to teach high school students higher thinking, writing and communication skills. I would
love to develop a curriculum that uses musicology as a vehicle to improve these skills for college
preparation. I would like to write my thesis on the performance practice of a variety of folk styles,

Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome Analysis
Acute respiratory distress syndrome is a disease process that requires specific, intensive care to
increase the odds of patient survival. Due to the rapid and significant decline in a patient s ability to

Examples Of Dido In The Aeneid
A prime example of a relationship that holds the stability of a society on its shoulders in The Aeneid is
between Dido (Queen of Carthage) and the Carthaginian people. We first encounter Dido in Book
One, when Aeneas and Achates are wandering through Carthage, shrouded by cloud. Virgil describes,
Dido walked happily with the throng around her, intent on hastening the work for her future realm,
telling us that as a Queen, she devoted to her city and loved by her subjects. This description of Dido
walking around Carthage starkly contrasts with Virgil s passage in Book four describing her walking
through the city, after Dido s heart has been inflamed by cupid s arrow with passion for Aeneas. Virgil
writes, Dido as on fire with love and wandering ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was seen as an uncontrollable sickness; a good Roman woman would take a pre approved,
appropriate husband not a man she was in love with. It is for this reason we can begin to understand
Virgil s viewpoint on the situation. In her attempt to help Aeneas, Venus inadvertently cuts all ties
Dido had with her people. Venus weapon of choice: love. Once the graceful, level headed queen was
infected by cupid s arrow, she became irrational and irresponsible with only Aeneas in mind, breaking
the relationship she had with her subjects. Dido laments, Because of (Aeneas) I have lost all self
respect and my good name, my only hope of reaching the stars, an example of the inner conflict
caused by a breakdown in relationship. Once compared to the exceptionally beautiful Diana, Virgil s
last description of Dido before her suicide is as follows; Her eyes were reddening and rolling... and
she was pale with the pallor of imminent death. This character breakdown provides the audience with
excellent evidence of how love (due to the interference from the gods) ruined Dido, and subsequently
the strong relationship she had once fostered with her

Pictorial History of Prosthetics
In the early years of film, make up artists were not recognised for their artistic skills and ingenuity of
making prosthetics or their imagination of bringing others creations to life. Many of the artists were
also actors or stunt men who learnt the craft by applying their own make up for film and theatre.
Compared to today s materials used to make prosthetics, many of the materials they used were very
basic as they used spirit gum, fish skin, cotton, gelatin, greasepaints, collodion, cheesecloth, clay,
Fullers Earth, various putties, pastes and wax and latex. The first documented prosthetic was in the
1909 book The Art of Theater Make up by Cavendish Morton, who when transforming himself into
the character Falstaff used silk attached to a wig, nose paste, spirit gum, crepe hair and greasepaints.
By the 1920 s Lon Chaney was recognised for his ingenuity of make up and was known as The Man
of a Thousand Faces as he had the ability to change his appearance into any character he was
portraying. For example when in the film The Phantom of the Opera he used wire to widen his nostrils
and pull his nose back and completed the horrifying character by wearing jagged false teeth and clever
use of shading to give the impression of a skull like face. He also changed his complete face when
playing the role of Quasimodo in The Hunchback of Notre Dame, as he created the twisted face by
using false teeth, nose putty on his cheeks and a false eye. In 1932, Jack Pierce turned

Great Hammerhead Research Paper
Hammerheads are usually talked about as if it was just one creature but in a matter of fact the
hammerhead shark comes in nine different species. The largest of the species is the Great hammerhead
shark, they can range from 3.4m to 6m long and 225kg to 450kg in weight, the females are larger than
the males but males mature at an earlier stage, although smaller sizes are more commonly found. The
hammerhead sharks habitat is offshore in water depths of 300m, also in shallow coastal areas like
continental shelves and lagoons. The hammerhead moves poleward when migrating to get to cooler
waters when it is the summer season, which is caused by the abiotic factors. The young swim mostly

They have a great sense of smell so they are able to scout out food without too much trouble.
Hammerheads also eat fish, octopus, squid and sometimes other sharks, even its own young if food
was scarce. There have been reports that when food is scarce they will turn on each other so they
could survive. The stingray is the hammerheads favourite food source. Hammerhead sharks, although
dangerous, are keen eaters of stingrays. They patiently search the ocean floor for a buried stingray and
when they have located one it sneaks up behind and pins the ray to the floor using its abnormal sizes
head, slowly devouring it while it s alive.
Out of the many 10 known species of hammerhead sharks, only a small 3 of them have been known to
be reasonably dangerous to humans. This consists of the Scalloped Hammerhead, Great hammerhead
and the smooth hammerhead. Since 2013 there have been 33 recorded hammerhead shark attacks, but

The Lamb And The Tyger By William Blake
The Bible states, For by Him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible
and invisible (Colossians 1:16). William Blake wrote poems about this very subject. In his twin
poems, The Lamb and The Tyger , Blake uses different literary techniques such as sound, imagery and
symbolism to echo the common theme of creation along with how it is viewed differently. William
Blake s use of sound in his poems, The Lamb and The Tyger , enhance the central idea of creation and
the question of how one God can create such different creatures. Both poems are similar in how they

This is shown with his use of imagery as well. Imagery used in The Lamb is very beautiful, natural
and peaceful which is a stark contrast to the dark fearful imagery seen in The Tyger . Little Lamb, who
made thee? Dost, thou know who made thee? (Lines 9 10). Little Lamb, I ll tell thee: He is called by
thy name (Lines 12 13). In the poem The Lamb , Blake paints a sweet, innocent image of a loving and
kind God. This poem is full of child like wonder as the speaker questions and answers who the lamb s
creator is. The nostalgic feel continues as he states, By the stream and o er the mead; Gave thee
clothing of delight, Softest clothing, wooly, bright; Gave thee such a tender voice (Lines 4 7). These
words and ideas leave the reader with a warm, comforted feeling. The image of untouched nature,
green pastures and a soft, little, white, baby lamb is quite different to the imagery Blake uses in The
Tyger . The overall feel of The Lamb is beautiful and tender as Blake describes the lamb in such ways
that are gentle, delicate and alluring. In his poem, The Tyger , Blake creates a dark, scary picture of a
powerful, ferocious creature that is not meek or mild like the lamb. Instead, he states, What immortal
hand or eye, Burnt the fire of thine eyes? Dare its deadly terrors clasp? (Lines 2 14). What the
hammer? What the chain? In what furnace was thy brain? What the anvil? What dread grasp dare its
deadly terrors clasp? (Lines 13 16). These

The Poetry Of Robert Frost
The purpose of this essay is to examine the poetry of Robert Frost for references to themes of nature,
religion, and humanity and how they relate to each other. This exercise will be prefaced with a brief
introduction to the man and his life as a segue to better understanding Frost s verse. The unexpected
but unavoidable aim of this composition will be to realize that Frost s body of work is almost too
sophisticated to comprehend, his manipulation of language so elusive that each reader may believe
Frost is speaking only to them, as the only incontrovertible truth is the poems operate on so many
levels . The reader should note that no discussion will be offered on poetry form, as that is a
consideration best left to literary experts, and otherwise is not germane to thematic consideration.
However, it takes little competence, more an openness, to allow the paean, hymnal lyricism of Frost s
words to insinuate themselves into one s inner voice; synchronizing with his struggle to explain our
very existence. That, instead, will be the focus of the paper.
Robert Frost was born on March 26, 1874 and died in January 1963 at the age of 86. He was born in
San Francisco but relocated with his mother to Massachusetts upon his father s death to live on his
grandparents farm. He showed a propensity for verse at a young age and his first experience as a
published poet occurred while he was still in high school. Here he met the love of his life, Elinor

What Are The Parasites Of Atlas Shrugged
The Parasites of Atlas Shrugged
In this world, and in the world of Ayn Rand s imagination, there are two kinds of people: those who
live to create, and those who wish to live as parasites feeding off the benefits of those creations. In
Atlas Shrugged, she explores what might happen when the creators of the world stop creating; the
parasites are left to try to live on their own. The novels that Miss Rand writes always reflect this sort
of thing. She writes of the battle between the two types of people as some write of the battles between
good and evil. In reality, each side of the battle can be equated in such terms. These writings provide a

He had himself convinced that he was doing the world a favor by holding back his sister, Dagny, an

Steroids Be Banned
Performing and playing at the highest level is crucial to athletes, multiple sports involve the use of
different physical abilities that require athletes to be well trained to succeed during competition. High
School athletes are often overstretched by coaches, family, and peers to always win, as a result many
teen athletes turn to steroids to raise themselves faster. Steroids influence body metabolism, the
process in which the body changes food into energy to provide the body with the strength needed to

Walking Dead is a western because of the guns, violence and the lawless frontier. I agree with this
because that s how I imagine most westerns be with people with guns and they were allowed to use
them more freely than what they are now. Western males always had guns at hand just like in the

The Impact of Lowering the Drinking Age on State...

most popular options, yet neither one has 100% of the vote. With the current legal drinking age in
America standing at 21, meaning that people under the age of 21 cannot purchase or consume
alcoholic food or beverages, there is the question of whether or not to lower it to 18 or 19 years old.

question that should be considered is how schools such as these two would be affected in their policies
if the drinking age were lowered. One side to this debate is that the legal drinking age should be
lowered from 21 to around 18 or 19 years old, and that young adults should be allowed to drink in
controlled environments. This idea is presented by Ruth Engs, a professor of Applied Sciences at
Indiana University. She states that environments such as taverns, pubs, restaurants and official
university functions can be considered to be controlled environments. In these situations responsible
drinking could be taught through role modeling and educational programs. Mature and sensible
drinking behavior would be expected (Engs). In her article, Engs uses phrases such as forbidden fruit,
and a badge of rebellion against authority to describe how teens view drinking. In her opinion, if the
drinking age were to be lowered, young adults would no longer feel the pressure to drink in order to
be cool.

Taking Command Analysis
Taking command of a new unit is a time to reflect on your own values and how you would administer
those values in the multitude of tasks that will come your way. Part of taking command includes an
analysis of the unit s current strength and weaknesses and then formulating a new path to increase
mission effectiveness. One way to portray the path you have chosen for the unit is to create a vision
statement. Once created, you must share it with your peers and subordinates. Evaluate for change.
Sometimes, your vision statement must be reiterated several times if the unit is not moving in the right
direction. My current unit, an Army battalion that is about equivalent to an Air Force squadron, has a

A Concept Analysis On Compassion Fatigue
I. Background and Significance
II. Meaning in Published Works
III. Purpose
The purpose of conducting a concept analysis is to divide the components of a concept into separate
individual parts for evaluation and clarification. Analysis of the internal structure, defining aspects,
characteristics and interrelationships to the other components can be achieved by conducting a concept
analysis. The basic purpose is a process to discover the similarities and differences between concepts
(Walker Avant, 2005). The intent of the concept analysis on the subject of compassion fatigue is to
evaluate compassion fatigue in nursing and to determine the current conceptual use in efforts to clarify
the relevance to nurses. The aim is to identify how the concept is currently utilized and how it could
potentially be utilized in the future.
IV. Definitions and Defining Attributes
A. Compassion fatigue in nursing is defined as the resultant distress and physical experiences that
occur when continuously caring for others, usually in highly stressful situations (Sheppard, 2015).
Burnout and secondary traumatic stress disorder are terms identified in the literature as having
affiliations with compassion fatigue. Burnout is a physical and mental exhaustion that occurs as a
gradual result of working in hostile and demanding environments or under stress. Secondary traumatic
stress disorder is a traumatic reaction that occurs due to witnessing the suffering of others (Hinderer et
al., 2014).

Guns Germs And Steel Essay
Guns, Germs and Steel Essay In 1920 American women were allowed to vote. While in Papa New
Guinea people were trying to find a more efficient way of farming. This shows just how unequal our
world is. So what causes inequality? The cause of inequality is due to geography. Farming and
domesticated animals is where the problem started. After domesticated animals, came steel leading to
the exposure of germs. For a civilization to succeed it needs a steady source of crops, domesticated
animals, production of steel, and early exposure to germs. A huge factor that affects a civilization s
development is what can be grown in your region. An ideal food supply would be high in protein,
have a surplus of calories, and long term storage. The Fertile Crescent had a spectacular food source;
they had wheat which supplied high protein, surplus of calories, and had long term storage. Smaller
civilizations such as Papa New Guinea harvest sago. Sago is a type of tree ... Show more content on

The armor protected them from other weapons and people. The Inca s on the other hand, did not have

Spaniards ended up taking all of the inca s land. Due to the latitude of the Inca s they couldn t produce
steel because of the climate and lack of specialists creating inequality once again. Exposure to
epidemic disease affects the development of civilization by immunity; if we hadn t been exposed to
germs such as smallpox we would be still having a problem with it today. The spanish developed an
immunity to smallpox by having domesticated animals. The domesticated animals actually carried
smallpox and germs. The spanish worked with the animals and developed an immunity to smallpox.
The Inca s however ,did not have an immunity. They weren t exposed to domesticated

A share will give the owner of the stock the company s profits or loses over time. The good thing about stocks is they can be sold at almost any time as long as there is someone willing to buy. A bond, on the other hand, is a fixed interest financial asset issued by governments, companies, banks, and other large entities. Bonds also are called funds. Bonds pay the owner a fixed amount a specific date, or on specified dates depending on the type of bond. If the bond is a discount bond, then there is one pay date at the end. • 8. A Classical View Of The Romantic Movement Hypothesis: John Keats Odes were heavily influence by Classical ideologies which related to the wider philosophy of the Romantic Movement. This essay will apply a Classical perspective to John Keats Odes. I will examine how John Keats was inspired by the ideologies of the Greeks and Roman mythology. John Keats based his Odes on Roman myths and Greek artefacts; he used these to explore wider themes that relate to Greek Philosophy. This essay will show how Keats related the wider philosophy of the Romantic Movement to the ideologies to the Classical eras. It will also show the cultural similarities between Antiquity and 19th century Britain which evoked similar lines of thought. The similarities which characterised each of the three eras are linked by the socio cultural context of war and tyrannous government. [Holden, S, 1970; Long, AA, 1985] This led to a movement in philosophical thought in both eras that examined ways to improve the human condition. Both Keats and Greek philosophers saw attaining pleasure as the means of achieving this objective. When the squad automatic weapon (SAW) gunner in her truck was shot, but not severely injured and was too terrified to get back on the gun, she radioed back to Major Gregory Trahan and received instructions to get someone back up there, so she put the gunner in her seat, got up, and started pulling security with the vehicle. The irony was, the gunner who had been pulling security on that truck was the armorer, who was an infantryman and the backbone of the army, while she was just a supply sergeant, and women were barred from the job of that armorer. Army Major Christopher L Heureux was witness to a female lab technician, Van Wirt, just about five foot one, rescuing a male counterpart and getting out safely. An explosively formed penetrator had blown up one of his Strykers in the Baghdad s Rusafa neighborhood, just across the Tigris River from the U.S. Embassy, and Van Wirt was pulling a ... If the Orings do not properly seal these gaps it is possible for exhaust gasses to get into the internal structure of the joint field. The extreme temperatures of the exhaust gasses are too high for the internal joint, known as the Tang and Clevis, to handle. The Tang and Clevis are the two main parts of the joint. They are mating sections that are held together with one hundred seventy seven pins. Without the O rings, the Tang and Clevis are not able to withstand the extreme pressure of exhaust gasses. 3 Figure 1. Cross section view of field joint located in the Solid Rocket Booster Four Technical Problems First let s look at the four mechanical aspects of the Challengers problems, blow holes, O Ring erosion, joint rotation, and the response of O Rings during low temperature. The condition of the primary seal is essential to the successful operation of the rocket booster. Engineers had to make sure that the seal was not damaged, so they increased the pressure of the leak test to above the pressure that the putty could withstand. This was supposed to make sure the O ring was correctly covering the gap without the help of the putty. Blow holes were tiny tunnel like holes that were left in the zinc chromate putty of the rocket booster insulation. The putty was supposed to protect the O rings from the hot exhaust. Introduction Computers store data in memory, and simulate human memory when they achieve this. It might be easy to predict the mechanism of how computer memory works, but the function of human memory is much more sophisticated. Basically, the role of memory is to retain information, store them and retrieve when it is necessary. According to Bunuel (1984), You have to begin to lose your memory, if only in bits and pieces, to realize that memory is what makes our lives. Life without memory is no life at all. Our memory is our coherence, our reason, our feeling, even our action. Without it, we are nothing (pp.4 5). This simply illustrates the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thus, the link between STM and LTM is still a controversial issue. Since memory has been of interest to psycholinguists and researchers, many tend to decode the message passing between these two major components of memory. Is there a messaging protocol that may link both ? To what extent each one can affect the other? This description of Dido walking around Carthage starkly contrasts with Virgil s passage in Book four describing her walking through the city, after Dido s heart has been inflamed by cupid s arrow with passion for Aeneas. Virgil writes, Dido as on fire with love and wandering ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was seen as an uncontrollable sickness; a good Roman woman would take a pre approved, appropriate husband not a man she was in love with. It is for this reason we can begin to understand Virgil s viewpoint on the situation. In her attempt to help Aeneas, Venus inadvertently cuts all ties Dido had with her people. Venus weapon of choice: love. Once the graceful, level headed queen was infected by cupid s arrow, she became irrational and irresponsible with only Aeneas in mind, breaking the relationship she had with her subjects. Dido laments, Because of (Aeneas) I have lost all self respect and my good name, my only hope of reaching the stars, an example of the inner conflict caused by a breakdown in relationship. Once compared to the exceptionally beautiful Diana, Virgil s last description of Dido before her suicide is as follows; Her eyes were reddening and rolling... and she was pale with the pallor of imminent death. This character breakdown provides the audience with excellent evidence of how love (due to the interference from the gods) ruined Dido, and subsequently the strong relationship she had once fostered with her ... • 30. Pictorial History of Prosthetics In the early years of film, make up artists were not recognised for their artistic skills and ingenuity of making prosthetics or their imagination of bringing others creations to life. Many of the artists were also actors or stunt men who learnt the craft by applying their own make up for film and theatre. Compared to today s materials used to make prosthetics, many of the materials they used were very basic as they used spirit gum, fish skin, cotton, gelatin, greasepaints, collodion, cheesecloth, clay, Fullers Earth, various putties, pastes and wax and latex. The first documented prosthetic was in the 1909 book The Art of Theater Make up by Cavendish Morton, who when transforming himself into the character Falstaff used silk attached to a wig, nose paste, spirit gum, crepe hair and greasepaints. By the 1920 s Lon Chaney was recognised for his ingenuity of make up and was known as The Man of a Thousand Faces as he had the ability to change his appearance into any character he was portraying. For example when in the film The Phantom of the Opera he used wire to widen his nostrils and pull his nose back and completed the horrifying character by wearing jagged false teeth and clever use of shading to give the impression of a skull like face. He also changed his complete face when playing the role of Quasimodo in The Hunchback of Notre Dame, as he created the twisted face by using false teeth, nose putty on his cheeks and a false eye. William Blake wrote poems about this very subject. In his twin poems, The Lamb and The Tyger , Blake uses different literary techniques such as sound, imagery and symbolism to echo the common theme of creation along with how it is viewed differently. William Blake s use of sound in his poems, The Lamb and The Tyger , enhance the central idea of creation and the question of how one God can create such different creatures. (Lines 9 10). Little Lamb, I ll tell thee: He is called by thy name (Lines 12 13). In the poem The Lamb , Blake paints a sweet, innocent image of a loving and kind God. This poem is full of child like wonder as the speaker questions and answers who the lamb s creator is. The nostalgic feel continues as he states, By the stream and o er the mead; Gave thee clothing of delight, Softest clothing, wooly, bright; Gave thee such a tender voice (Lines 4 7). These words and ideas leave the reader with a warm, comforted feeling. The image of untouched nature, green pastures and a soft, little, white, baby lamb is quite different to the imagery Blake uses in The Tyger . The overall feel of The Lamb is beautiful and tender as Blake describes the lamb in such ways that are gentle, delicate and alluring. In his poem, The Tyger , Blake creates a dark, scary picture of a powerful, ferocious creature that is not meek or mild like the lamb. Instead, he states, What immortal hand or eye, Burnt the fire of thine eyes? Dare its deadly terrors clasp? (Lines 2 14). What the hammer? What the chain? In what furnace was thy brain? • 34. The Poetry Of Robert Frost The purpose of this essay is to examine the poetry of Robert Frost for references to themes of nature, religion, and humanity and how they relate to each other. This exercise will be prefaced with a brief introduction to the man and his life as a segue to better understanding Frost s verse. The unexpected but unavoidable aim of this composition will be to realize that Frost s body of work is almost too sophisticated to comprehend, his manipulation of language so elusive that each reader may believe Frost is speaking only to them, as the only incontrovertible truth is the poems operate on so many levels . The reader should note that no discussion will be offered on poetry form, as that is a consideration best left to literary experts, and otherwise is not germane to thematic consideration. However, it takes little competence, more an openness, to allow the paean, hymnal lyricism of Frost s words to insinuate themselves into one s inner voice; synchronizing with his struggle to explain our very existence. That, instead, will be the focus of the paper. Robert Frost was born on March 26, 1874 and died in January 1963 at the age of 86. He was born in San Francisco but relocated with his mother to Massachusetts upon his father s death to live on his grandparents farm. He showed a propensity for verse at a young age and his first experience as a published poet occurred while he was still in high school. Here he met the love of his life, Elinor White. What Are The Parasites Of Atlas Shrugged The Parasites of Atlas Shrugged In this world, and in the world of Ayn Rand s imagination, there are two kinds of people: those who live to create, and those who wish to live as parasites feeding off the benefits of those creations. In Atlas Shrugged, she explores what might happen when the creators of the world stop creating; the parasites are left to try to live on their own. The novels that Miss Rand writes always reflect this sort of thing. She writes of the battle between the two types of people as some write of the battles between good and evil. She firmly believed that it was the duty of every man to give to every other man. Virtue is the giving of the undeserved, she said (265). No one can settle upon a drinking age that everyone is in agreement with; should it be 18 or 21? Ages 18 and 21 are the most popular options, yet neither one has 100% of the vote. With the current legal drinking age in America standing at 21, meaning that people under the age of 21 cannot purchase or consume alcoholic food or beverages, there is the question of whether or not to lower it to 18 or 19 years old. This paper will argue that the drinking age should be lowered, and examine its impact on State University. Almost everyone has an opinion on what the drinking age should be. The State University campus is dry, meaning there is neither alcohol nor paraphernalia allowed on the campus at any time regardless of age. In the same city, however, Christian Brothers University is a wet campus that allows all students 21 and older to have alcohol in their dorms and around campus. A major question that should be considered is how schools such as these two would be affected in their policies if the drinking age were lowered. One side to this debate is that the legal drinking age should be lowered from 21 to around 18 or 19 years old, and that young adults should be allowed to drink in controlled environments. This idea is presented by Ruth Engs, a professor of Applied Sciences at Indiana University. She states that environments such as taverns, pubs, restaurants and official university functions can be considered to be controlled environments. In these situations responsible drinking could be taught through role modeling and educational programs. Mature and sensible drinking behavior would be expected (Engs). In her article, Engs uses phrases such as forbidden fruit, and a badge of rebellion against authority to describe how teens view drinking. In her opinion, if the drinking age were to be lowered, young adults would no longer feel the pressure to drink in order to be cool. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

After domesticated animals, came steel leading to the exposure of germs. For a civilization to succeed it needs a steady source of crops, domesticated animals, production of steel, and early exposure to germs. A huge factor that affects a civilization s development is what can be grown in your region. An ideal food supply would be high in protein, have a surplus of calories, and long term storage.
