The Diamond Necklace Affair Essay
The Diamond Necklace Affair
Marie Antoinette, Queen of France from 1770 to 1797 was despised by the people of France. Their
hatred of her and the monarchy in general led to the French Revolution. Many issues led to the
unpopularity of Queen Maria Antoinette, her vanity, her disregard for the people, but perhaps the most
significant was the Affair of the Diamond Necklace. In 1785, the court jewelers, Bohmer and Basange,
constructed a necklace with five hundred and forty diamonds of varying sizes in an ugly arrangement
that resembled the collars worn by circus animals. They hoped that King Louis XV would purchase it
for his favorite, Madame du Barry. Unfortunately, the king died before the necklace was ... Show more

It was, after all, the Queen that tried to prevent him from being appointed Grand Almoner of France.
Campan replied that the gentleman must be mistaken. Bohmer answered that Campan was the one
being deceived. His eminence, he said, sees [the Queen] in private and he has brought me thirty
thousand francs from the Queen as a down payment. Madame Campan immediately notified the
Queen of his visit. When Marie Antoinette called the jeweler back for questioning the diabolical plot
was discovered (Komroff 86).
The plot began in 1777 when, against Marie Antoinette s wishes, Rohan was named Grand Almoner.
Trying desperately to soften the Queen s anger, realizing that if she wouldn t acknowledge him, his
power in court would diminish greatly, he wrote many letters to her but to no avail. She still refused to
honor him with the slightest sign of recognition (86).
His desire for recognition led to his involvement with an adventuress and swindler by the name of
Countess de la Motte Valois (Affair). Countess Jeanne la Motte Valois came from a very strange
background. She was a direct descendant of King Henry II of France but generations of bad marriages
had reduced the family to poverty. She married an officer of the gendarmes and the couple assumed
the titles of Count and Countess (Komroff 87).

Sumer People Research Paper
Sumerians... an ancient civilisation that most of you have probably never heard of. They were a nation
of people settled in Southern Mesopotamia which, is modern day Iraq and Kuwait. Not only are these
people one of the oldest civilisations in human history, with their existence dating back to 5000 BCE,
but they re influence on our lives today, 7000 years later, is incredible. The Sumer people were the
first to create a written language in 3500 3000 BCE, 2000 years before the ancient Chinese. They were
the first to enforce the idea of a set time for a work day, there is evidence to suggest they invented the
wheel, and are even responsible for time itself. The Sumer people divided day and night into 12 hours
each consisting of 60 minutes with each minute consisting of 60 seconds, a method of time that is still
used to this day. Apart from these incredible advancements in early human history, the Sumer people
are also recognised for being possibly the second oldest civilisation to bury their dead. These burial
customs and beliefs of the Sumer people have been studied ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Once the body was prepared, a spiritual ceremony where death rites are made by priests over a dead
body began. People of higher social status could have a their death rites read for a week while most
working class people had a fairly quick funeral. The body would then be buried near their family
home. They were buried as it makes the journey to the underworld easier for them. The grave of the

Polio Literature Review
Critical Review provide a literature review of the public health significance of the health issue talked
about in the case study. Please use 6 8 references and include them in a separate reference page (750
1000 words).
Polio, or poliomyelitis, is an infectious disease that manifests as a variety of symptoms, the most
severe of which is paralysis which can lead to permanent disability and death. Some people show no
symptoms at all. Children who recover from polio at a young age may develop new symptoms later in
life ( CDC Global Health Polio What Is Polio?, n.d.). Polio was considered a disease of developed
countries for much of the 1900s. However, in the 1960s and 1970s, prevalence of polio in
schoolchildren in developing countries across the world was found to be much higher than in the
United States (Modlin, 2010). By 2000, polio has been mostly eradicated around the world, with the
number of cases having fallen by more than 99%. Today, there are only a few countries that still have
new cases of polio each year and the total number of reported polio cases is, on average, less than 100
each year ( CDC Global Health Polio Updates on CDC s Polio Eradication Efforts March 18, 2016,
n.d.). Vaccination exists for polio, with two forms currently in use. The live poliovirus vaccination is
more effective and widely used in endemic regions, while the inactive vaccination is used in areas
where polio has been eradicated (Modlin, 2010).

Popularity of Soccer Around the World Essay
Popularity of Soccer Around the World
I am going to talk about the most popular sport in the world: football. Now, you may be having visions
of huge quarterbacks, dressed up in their padding and helmets, parading down the field during the
Super Bowl. But the other kind of football, the football the rest of the world knows, has no padding or
helmets. This other football is known in America as soccer. In more than 175 countries across the
globe, football, or soccer, rates as the number 1 national sport.
Football dates back as far as thousands of years ago. There are records that show that ancient
civilizations of Greece, Egypt, and China (among others) played an age old form of football with a
stuffed leather ball. Early games in Old ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the present there are more than 2 million players registered with official football organizations, and
about 275,000 clubs play in official leagues and tournaments. The World Cup, held every four years, is
the highlight of football tournaments. Held by FIFA (of course), it lasts 1 month, and on this month,
the world s eyes are on the World Cup. In 1994, over 1 billion people watched the World Cup, and the
events leading up to it. The fans are everything to football. The pride of their city or country equals the
pride of their football team.
A football game is not about sitting and quietly watching the game while eating hotdogs and peanuts...
it is a wild fiasco! The fans dress up in costumes and their team colors, they paint their faces and
bodies and sing songs in unison about their team. The stadiums are gigantic and chaotic. The
Maracana Stadium in Brazil is usually filled up to it s capacity with 220,000 screaming fans. Once,
many Brazilian fans fainted in the stands when they lost to Uruguay. The popularity of this sport also
has it s downsides. It has even been deadly. For instance, in 1969 the qualifying games between El
Salvador and Honduras caused a war between the 2 countries. There had been conflict between the
countries, but things boiled over when they clashed on the playing field, sparking a full scale war that
lasted 2 weeks.

Plant Proteases Advantages
Proteases are the most important type of enzymes because they represent ca. 60% of all
commercialized enzymes in the world and occupy the most relevant position among industrial
enzymes. Plant proteases have various applications such as in detergent manufacturing, in medicine,
and food science for many years (Siota and Villa, 2010). The most frequently employed plant
proteases are papain, bromelain and ficin, although new proteases with new and more appealing
physicochemical properties for industry are still emerging. Plant enzymes (such as papain, bromelain,
and ficin) have been extensively used as meat tenderizers. New plant proteases such as actinidin and
zingibain and microbial enzyme preparations have been of recent interest due to controlled meat
tenderization and other advantages.
2.1 Sources of proteases: Proteases occur naturally in all living organisms and play important role in
their functioning. They have been isolated and studied from various sources.
2.1.1. Plants: Proteases occur in all plants and play important roles throughout their lifecycle such as
plant growth, development, senescence and plant defense as well as plant death. They are responsible

The most familiar proteases of animal origin are trypsin, rennin, chymotrypsin, pepsin all having
important role in metabolic processes. These are prepared in bulk in pure form. But the production of
proteases from animals has certain issues such as availability of livestock for slaughter which is
further governed by other policies and religional beliefs. Also the chances of transfer of diseases from
animals to humans are quiet high. These reasons have led to an increase in the demand of microbial

The Themes Of African American Literature
Within African American Literature, there are many themes that are relatable across many different
forms of media. Paintings, for example, can have similar and contradictory themes to those that are
used in African American Literature. Like authors with their literature, artists too take from their
experiences and opinions and form a creation that is a reflection of what they believe. These creations,
both literature and paintings, can contain certain topics that are quite alike. Ellis Wilson, and African
American artist, created a painting that exhibits the theme of spirituality in his painting Prayer in the
Field. This theme can be linked to at least three works from African American literature that broadens
the way readers and spectators of art see spirituality.
In Prayer in the Field, it is not difficult to see that spirituality is a major theme. There are three
elements of this painting that support the theme of spirituality. The first element of this painting that
one notices is the bright colors used. Ellis Wilson, whom is known for his expressive, emphasis of
color, uses warm and inviting colors to create a scene that conveys complete tranquility (Ellis Wilson).
Along with color, the next element is the four figures kneeling in the field praying. These elongated
forms, which Wilson is also known for, are what bring in the spirituality aspect (Ellis Wilson). The
tone of Prayer in the Field created by the colors is what gives these kneeling figures meaning. The

Gender Roles In Star Trek Next Generation Essay
In 1966 a series called quot;Star Trek quot; was created. It s creator, Gene Roddenberry, did not create
the show to be a science fiction series. The series was much deeper than that. It wasn t just about
discovering new planets and civilizations. It was about controversial issues. Even though the series
take place in the 23rd and 24th century the issues struck with the times and related current issues.
Through each series, The Original, Next Generation, Deep Space Nine and Voyager, there has been
progression with the times and the issues. The issues that surround the episodes of Star Trek include
race, religion, sexuality, the depiction of science and gender roles. The central focus being talked
about in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There was the captain, Janeway, Kes and Seven of Nine. This series brought women into leadership
roles. The progression of women in Star Trek has been appropriately timed and has even pushed a
little bit past the time. Even though Uhura basically played the role of a secretary her role still pushed
the envelope for the time because of her race. She was a black actress during or right after the civil
rights movement. She even thought of quitting the role because she felt that she wasn t used enough
for her role in the series. However, after Martin Luther King, Jr. talked to her and told her how
important it would be for her to stay on the show, she did. Women in Star Trek have progressed from a
secretary type, to a doctor and counselor, to the second in command and eventually the first in
command or the captain. Their progress allows them to be more influential.
Let s talk more specifically about the Next Generation series. The Original series showed the four
starring male roles to provide everything for the crew. This is not the case in Next Generation. Next
Generation is more like a family with a father, a mother and children. But who were the biggest
members of the family? There are four characters, which give the presence of a family on Next
Generation.
First, you have the father. This is actually quite simple. You have Captain Picard who plays the father.
He is much older than any of the other crew seen

A Survey Report On Malaysian Diaspora
Introduction
To better understand what media sources the Singaporean diaspora uses to find out about news back
home in Singapore, I conducted a survey amongst Singaporeans based overseas, namely in places
such as Australia, the United States, some countries in South East Asia and also in Europe. The
demographics used were age based, dispersed mainly among working class adults and university
students.
The survey resulted in a 40% readership of www.straitstimes.com, the online version of Singapore s
leading newspaper The Straits Times and a 27% readership of another website, which is also a
subsidiary of the Straits Times, called Stomp. Going from these numbers, one can say that the bulk of
Singaporeans overseas still rely heavily on the online version of The Straits Times for news back
home in Singapore. From here, I can conclude that the key media outlet utilised by Singaporeans
overseas would be the StraitsTimes.com. My survey also includes the purposes of these sites, namely
what Singaporeans use these sites for and how much whether or not they consider these sources to be
relevant.
In this essay, I intend to analyse the The Straits Times and its online counterpart,
www.straitstimes.com , as well as its other subsidiary STOMP (Straits Times Online Mobile Print).
Given the premise that www.straitstimes.com is reflective of its parent, The Straits Times, it is
imperative that we analyse The Straits Times as a whole, taking into consideration that in the end the

Clinical Experience For Nursing School After The...
This week was a fun week of clinical experience for me. I got to rest and recharge my energy toward
nursing school after the cardiovascular exam. I was very disappointed on my exam after all the hard
work of studying and was doubt myself for not being able to complete my nursing program due to my
failure of examination. However, after one week of break, I am ready to face the difficulty of
examination again. This week I get to be in the OR unit which is something that I have no prior
experience on. I didn t know what to expect. I was so excited to have this opportunity. The OR unit is
unlike all the other hospital settings. It is another world within the OR unit. First of all, everyone has
to change to the surgical scrub in order to be in the OR unit. Then there is a preop unit, operation unit,
and the postop unit. After I pick the patient I wanted to follow throughout the day, I went to introduce
myself to the patient and the preop nurse that is taking care of the patient prior to the surgery. I
observed the preop nurse, MD, operation room nurse, anesthetist, and surgeon came in one after
another to ask questions regarding patient s past and present medical history. The preop nurse
monitors the patient s vital signs and tells the patient to do the lung expansion activity. Then the nurse
started an IV line and draws two tube of blood out for the lab. The nurse then asks the patient to sign

vague yet precious childhood memories. The urge of throwing a snowball, lying on the fluffy cotton
known as snow and creating a snow angel, or designing a snowman, rushes over me. Those were the
good old days, but that was years ago I am a lot older now. I finally gather up the courage to get out of
my lovely abode, and I journey into the uncharted frozen wasteland. While opening the front door, a

Does Our Technology Take Us Close To The World Of Big...
Is Our Technology Taking Us Close to the World of Big Brother?
Big Brother is watching you (1984, Orwell). This line has a lot of meaning to it, especially in our
current era now. This quote comes from the book 1984. Despite the title, it is still a relevant book to
what our world is like right now. How is it relevant to us now? Well, in the story, it talks about
telescreens, which watches people all the time. In our world, police are often using security cameras,
and tracking phones down to stop crime from happening. Many people believe that this is just the start
to the age of Big Brother. Despite what many people believes, our technology may come closer to the
world of Big Brother, but its morality and use of this idea will not become the ways of Big Brother: to

What better way to make the streets a safer place than using our advancement in technology to do so?
Now, we can watch over the people with security cameras instead of having certain police patrol all
the time. Long Beach Police to Use 400 Cameras Citywide to Fight Crime, an article in Los Angeles
Times, goes into great details about their use of surveillance cameras to provide safety to the people of
Long Beach. An officer stated that they will only use the cameras when an incident occurs, and not
watch people all the time. That is why privacy should not be an issue. Also, why do people consider
their privacy an issue when they are in a public place? This is a great example of why we are not
following the ideas of Big Brother. In the novel, 1984, these cameras were used to control people, and
watch and make sure they are not doing anything to overthrow the government. That is why our ideas
of how surveillance works are different from the ways of Big

Comparison Of Andrew Jackson And The Battle Of New Orleans
(Discredit) (Intro) Stories such as theses are fantastic tall tale, but it is not a true representation of the
real tale. (DS) This tale exaggerated a great deal about the details of the battle. Not to mention that it is
also a one sided story that makes it feel as if the Americans lost barely any men. Furthermore, this
story also brings a relatively unrealistic view of the military, as if they were a tangled grove of
unkempt trees with many species (Dendrographia). (TH) Truly, these are just a few of the reasons I
will refute Andrew Jackson and the Battle of New Orleans, and disorganized scrap of fiction.

win. (ACA) However one might retort, But the British, who had just beaten the French, would have
high in spirit similarly. (DL) Consequently, either the British did not think that defeating the French
was something to be proud of, or this never happened. (CA) The Americans had the upper hand, for
they had the barracks. Another might argue. (DL) In conclusion either the Redcoats had never been
trained to win battles that seemed to not bend in their favor, or they won the battle. (ST) It is unlikely
that the Americans defeated the Lobsterbacks. (Impossibility) (TR) Let us say that the vastly
outnumbered Americans defeated their foes, (RQ) why would the British infantry march out in the

French armies with ease, then how could he and his men loose to a motley mob of soldiers? (ST)

Pros And Cons Of Health Information Exchange (HIE)
Health information exchange (HIE) is the ability for patients health information to be shared
electronically while the precision of the information is assured. There are two models of HIE:
centralized model and decentralized or federated model (LaTour, Eichenwald Maki, Oachs, 2013, p.
221). In centralized model, patients medical information is stored in one single data warehouse and is
managed by representative from different healthcare organizations. Patients information will be
submitted regularly into the data warehouse and all participated organizations can view the data
externally by query requests. In this model, the results of the queries are returned faster than
decentralized model. The disadvantages of this model are the information ownership is hard to be
established and information accuracy and updating are not easy to be maintained (LaTour, Eichenwald

HIE provides full patients medical information to different providers, which helps to avoid
unfavorable errors, especially when patients are new to the practices or need treatment when
travelling. HIE increases the efficiency of cares by eliminating the needs for extra paper works,
missing information, or duplicate of test orders. In addition, HIE enables providers to access patients
assessment plans from other providers notes, which help them to have overviews and choose the right
treatment options. HIE also plays a big part in improving public health monitoring and reporting. HIE
ensures that all healthcare professionals, who involve in patients cares, can obtain the same
information, which allows healthcare professionals to spend more time with patients regarding their
treatments instead of finding information about their medical histories. HIE has the capability of
decreasing costs and increasing patients health outcomes (HealthcareIT.gov,

Robert Nozick s Essay Coercion
In this essay i will argue that what is bad about Coercion is that it motivates the Coercer to act badly. I
will divide this essay into two sections, the first section (§ 1) being an explanatory section on
coercion, and the second (§2) an investigation into what is bad about coercion.
In (§1) I will give a brief historical account of coercion, and outline why it is seen as a issue worth
conceptualising. I will then present an account of coercion closely drawn from Robert Nozick that
holds the issuing of a conditional threat (CT) essential to coercion.
§2 will be concerned with answering what is bad about coercion? . I will understand this question s
aim to be identifying what aspect of coercion provides its wrongfulness.
In order to do this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In §2a) I will consider two views on what is bad about wrongful coercion. The first being that it
restricts autonomy, and the second that it is wrong as a result of the fear it induces. After presenting
each view i will debate what i believe to be an unresolvable issue that arises from attributing the
wrongfulness of coercion to either fear or autonomy. In §2b) I will then go onto argue that what makes
coercion bad is the increased likelihood of the Coercer carrying out the wrongful action he has
threatened the Coercee with.
§2a i)Raz stated that to reduce the autonomy the desirable options that were available to an agent must
be reduced. In an instance of coercion the Coercer makes a CT in order to reduce the desirability of a
particular choice in order to get him to choose a different action. For example if someone was to stand
inside a shop and say If you buy a chocolate bar, i am going to shoot you . They would be reducing the
autonomy of people visiting the shop by reducing the desirability of buying a chocolate bar. With this
conception of autonomy it is clear that in an instance of coercion autonomy is

Sampling Has Changed The Music Industry
Sampling is a technique that many artists have used for decades, when given the opportunity to record
a new track. Sampling has transformed the music industry, by allowing an artist to broaden their
horizons, and give people the ability to have a different outlook towards a particular song. Often times
when a producer is trying to assist the artist or group, they will present the artist with many beats and
mixes. Of the beats and mixes provided, a few of them may be a sample of another artist s work. Often
times when an artist or group admires the work of another artist, they will get their permission to
sample their music and incorporate into the work that they are about to produce. Another reason an

When SWV decided to sample Pastorious song, they had to find a way to keep certain components of
the song, while making it slightly different from the original piece. Jaco Pastorious song has no lyrics;
therefore, there no vocalist singing or adding sounds to his song. Since there were no vocals in his
song, Jaco could focus on allowing the listener to fully indulge in the sounds of jazz that he was
creating with his bass. His goal was to give the listener the opportunity to use the sounds to assist their
imagination with coming up with their own Portrait of Tracy . On the contrary, SWV formatted the
song Rain with vocals and an extra beat underlying it. While SWV s song sounds quite similar to that
of Jaco Pastorious , Pastorious song is only and instrumental piece with a more simplistic approach
behind it. Although Jaco Pastorius wrote his song with no words at all, his still writes his song in a
way that allows the listener to understand that song was written for the admiration of a female
counterpart. The song is romantic and shows the listener that he is mesmerized by his wife, Tracy.
SWVs primary focus was also to relay a physical romantic message to the listener, however, their song
used words to get their message across. The song Rain is about feeling a counterparts love, and
allowing it to take over the body as rain does. Typically when it

People Are Really Good At Heart
Anne is an especially optimistic and whimsical girl who wants everyone to be cheerful, spite the
numerous conditions she has gone through. The play The Diary of Anne Frank ends with the
statement, In spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart. This quote is by

asserted this on behalf of lifting everyone s spirits with hope. Also, Anne wants to stay strong and
continue being positive throughout her ordeal. My final, and utmost supportive idea, is that far and

evidence to back this up.
The quote Anne implied at the end of the play, The Diary of Anne Frank, voices the opinion that Anne

Life Of Pi Diction Essay
The passage chosen is an extract from pages 310 311 in Life of Pi by Yann Martel, taken place shortly
after Pi arrives on the island. The purpose of the passage is crucial in both the reader s and Pi s
frightening realization of the carnivorous nature of the island, as Pi finds a set of human teeth hidden
in accumulation of leaves. As the reader unravels the passage and subsequently realizes its horrors,
one finds that the Martel successfully uses structure with the transitioning to very short paragraphs.
Language, or rather the use of repetition, places great emphasis into Pi s unravelings, and imagery,
serving as the context for the critical moments, help convey the importance of this watershed moment.
Overall, the use of these devices ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is a very small portion of the picture being described. Nothing about the surroundings, what Pi
is feeling, or anything else offering the reader imagery of other sorts. Instead, the beginning of the
passage is very focused on the fruit and descriptions of Pi unravelling the fruit. This detailed narration
is very evident in excerpts in the 3 paragraph Martel uses to show the reader that Pi is peeling the fruit,
After a few layers I came to leaves that had lost their stems and were flatly glued to the ball. I used my
fingernails to catch their edges and pull them off. Sheath after sheath of leaf lifted, like the skins off an

to satisfy my curiosity in a measured way. (310) This imagery is effective in forcing the reader to
focus, and put all their attention onto the step by step progression, successfully setting the stage for the
reader to come across what would be the climax of the scene. Ultimately, in the creation of this
important scene that changes the course of the novel, Yann Martel uses literary techniques to bring out
the its horrors, through his manipulation of the speed, by painting a vivid image in one s mind as it

on people from the Balkans to Egypt, and from Babylon to India. His empire resolved the long
standing conflict between the Persians and Greeks, established multiple cities across the Middle East
and central Asia, had an influence on a future Indian emperor, and some of the remnants of his empire
lasted until the time of the Roman Empire. The empire of Alexander not only had a prominent place in
history, but also contributed to advancements in military tactics of the ancient world. The rise and fall
of the Macedonian Empire, under Alexander the Great, is one of the most influential events of history,
and had long reaching effects that lasted until the time of the Roman Empire. In order to see the
origins of the empire of Alexander, it is important to understand the previous conflicts between the
Persian Empire and those on the Balkan Peninsula, such as the Greek city states and Macedon. This
conflict was the preface behind Alexander s conquest of the Persian Empire, and his future conquests
in Egypt, Central Asia, and India. According to Encyclopedia Britannica, the Greco Persian wars
lasted half a century, with multiple wars being fought between the Greek city states and

The Anzio Breakout Essay
January 22, 1944 the sun is shining, and there is quite wind blowing across the beach of Anzio. In the
next two days this beach will be covered in upwards of 30,000 allied troops and will see some of the
bloodiest fighting of the war in the next four months. Anzio was originally supposed to be a
distraction that Sir Alexander could use to breach the Gustav line. However, after a failure to
immediately push towards Rome the allies would be trapped in trench warfare and would be forced to
breakout of Anzio. This was, simply enough, called the Anzio Breakout. The escape from Anzio was
comprised of the plan and its flaw, the invasion, and the Breakout. The allied commander Sir
Alexander felt that he would be unable to take Rome unless a ... Show more content on

In the next week the Allies moved in seven miles fighting off the scattered but increasing Germans. As
the moved along the Anzio Albano Road toward Campoleone, they captured the town of Aprilia,
which created a massive dent in enemy lines, but were unbale to breakout of the beachhead. Although
they met some heavy resistance on the way to Cisterna and Littoria, that eventually halted their
advance, they managed to increase their numbers, and built anti air guns impairing the German
Luftwaffe. Despite their progress because they did not immediately drive towards Rome the Germans
were able to recover and retaliate. Most of the German counterstrikes were random air raids on the
snarl of trenches the allies had dug. The allies broken and weary from the random barrage of artillery
were more then ready to escape the trenches of Anzio and head towards the capital Rome.
They got their chance on May 12, 1944. On this date the Fifth and Eighth corps retaliated with their
long anticipated offensive against the Gustav Line, finally allowing them to capture Cassino
successively breaking the Gustav Line. Playing to the advantage of the turbulent status in the central
mountains, and using an Allied artillery barrage, along with armor and infantry assaults along the
Anzio, the Cisterna front was opened. On May 23rd, The Allies were able to rupture the German main

According to the framework, CHD is common frequently preventable and largely fatal (CHD NSF
2006), it is responsible for more 84,600 deaths in England in 2009, including 26.4 per 100,000 under
the age of 75. Age is important as the target for reduction in mortality from CHD, stroke and related
disorders of 40% of the year 2010, established in Saving Lives: Our Healthier Nation (DoH 1999),
referred to the under 75 age group. The key areas identified for intervention in the national service
framework are: reducing smoking, promoting healthy eating, promoting physical activity and reducing
obesity, although several other factors are known to contribute to the development of CHD. Smoking
has long been known to be a factor in the development of CHD. According to Smeltzer and Bare
(2000), smoking decreases blood flow to the extremities and increases heart rate and pressure via
stimulation of the sympathetic nervous system, causing vasoconstriction. In addition, it raises the
chances of clot formation by increasing the aggregation of platelets. Campbell (2006) suggests that the
toxic components of cigarette smoke damage the endothelial lining of the blood vessels, which may
initiate the development of atherosclerosis. Because carbon dioxide from the cigarette burns readily

Machiavelli And Plato Essay
Niccolio Machiavelli (Born May 3rd, 1469 amp;#8211; 1527 Florence, Italy.) His writings have been
the source of dispute amongst scholars due to the ambiguity of his analogy of the amp;#8216;Nature
of Politics ; and the implication of morality. The Prince, has been criticised due to it amp;#8217;s
seemingly amoral political suggestiveness, however after further scrutiny of other works such as The
Discourses, one can argue that it was Machiavelli amp;#8217;s intention to infact imply a positive
political morality. Therefore the question needs to be posed. Is Machiavelli a political amoralist? To
successfully answer this it is essential to analyse his version of political structure to establish a
possible bias. It would also be beneficial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is essential prior to judgement on whether Machiavelli is a political amoralist or not to take into
account The Discourses and the essence of their meaning. The Prince alone I grant can be mistaken for
a how to be a tyrant handbook with it amp;#8217;s absolute theories and some what lack of civility,
where amp;#8220;the end justifies the means ;. But it amp;#8217;s intention is assuming the political
leader is already of moral standing and possess such qualities of integrity and virtue to be expected of
one in the position of leadership. amp;#8220;Everybody sees what you appear to be,few feel what you
are,and those few will not dare to oppose themselves to the many, who have the majesty of the state to
defend them;and in the actions of men,and especially of princes, from which there is no appeal, the end
justifies the means ; amp;#8220;Thus it is well to seem merciful, faithful humane, sincere, religious and
also to be so. ; Effectively what seems as ruling with an iron fist is best expressed in terms of need.
The 16th Century political unrest Machiavelli is influenced by would best be unified by such absolute
power due to it amp;#8217;s degradation and lack of structure. So therefore it would not be seen as
immoral with respect to it amp;#8217;s time. And looking at it from a wider more advanced
perspective although the technique may appear rigid if it creates the desired unification

Plastic as a Commodity
Silverman (2007), states that, Plastic constitutes 90 percent of all trash floating in the world s oceans .
Plastic has become a well known and wanted commodity around the world. It is a commodity that is
involved in most things that we use; however, we are oblivious of its bad effects. In the article Plastic
is rubbish it shows that in 2010 alone, Americans created 31 million tons of plastic waste such as
containers, appliances, and cups (n.d.). When plastic is used this excessively it acts as a hazard and a
harmful commodity, since it endangers the lives of many creatures including humans. The way this
commodity is disposed off should be efficient and should not result in harming the environment either.
To solve this problem, all governments should take action and improper plastic disposal should be
made illegal and its production should be moderated to lessen its effect on the environment, human
health, and overall on the economy worldwide. Governments around the world respond differently to
the issue of plastic bags, some are in the view that plastic bags are harmful both to the environment
and to human beings while others are in complete support of their use. Single use plastic shopping
bags are the most common types of plastic bags around the world (Plastic Statistics, n.d). In most
cases, these bags are distributed to customers free of charge by shopping malls, supermarkets and
other shopping places after purchasing goods. One

Old Breed At Peleliu And Okinawa Analysis
The nature of warfare is unfathomable to someone who hasn t experienced it. Yet, With The Old Breed
At Peleliu and Okinawa describes every aspect of war. Sledge describes his experience by giving the
reader the idea of what war is like, the ability to picture it in their heads, and evoke some sort of
emotions from his experience when he was there. In order for Sledge to describe the nature of his
experience in the war, he needed to describe the essence of what it was truly like. I asked God Why,
why, why? I turned my face away and wished that I were imagining it all. I had tasted the bitterest
essence of war, the sight of helpless comrades being slaughtered, and it filled me with disgust.

The psychological effects, the mentality of fighting and killing another human, and the sheer
decimation of human values is what makes war atrocious. War is not only fought on the battlefield
though. This book also describes the feelings of a soldier fighting his own demons that war has
brought on. The battle that the soldier has with himself, is almost if not more damaging than the
physical battle of war. He will never forget his experience with battle, no matter how hard he tries the
memories of artillery, blood, and death cannot be erased. I prayed like you to survive, but look at me
now. It is over for us who are dead, but you must struggle, and will carry the memories all your life.
People back home will wonder why you can t forget. (Sledge). This struggle still happens to soldiers
today. Sledge s words of the struggles still captures the effects of warfare that lingers today. The other
effects that war has on the men is the instability that surrounds them at every hour of the day. They are
either engaged in battle having bullets and artillery fired at them, or waiting for battle just so they can
be deposited back in the pressure cooker of survival. Lying in a foxhole sweating out an enemy
artillery or mortar barrage or waiting to dash across open ground under machine gun or artillery fire

Southwest AirlinesSouthwest Airlines employees came together in late January 1995 for their weekly

Continental Lite and Shuttle By United . As they were beginning the meeting a staff member advised
the team of two changes Shuttle By United made to its service and pricing. First was the
discontinuation of service for the Oakland Ontario, California market. Second, the one way walk up

Finally, Southwest flew only Boeing 737 jets in coach. Due to all of these combined operations,
Southwest s cost per seat was the lowest among major U.S. carriers.
Southwest focused on creative marketing techniques to differentiate itself from other carriers. Service,
convenience and price were represented in the marketing effort.
Southwest was also focused on its people. The relationships with the employees were very important
to Southwest and that is why it was listed as one of the top ten companies to work for.
Southwest achieved record revenue and income levels in 1994 but their net income fell 47 percent.
These results were due to a few factors such as an acquisition, competitors use of fare sales and the
airline within an airline initiatives launched by Continental and United.
RecommendationsAfter all of these facts about Southwest Airlines and the airline industry in general I
came to an answer about how Southwest should respond to the changes of United Airlines. I believe
Southwest should continue with its present price and service strategy. I do not believe any changes
should be made. Southwest will continue to achieve revenue do to its low prices and its excellent
customer service.
Southwest Airlines should continue to service its local customers on non stop flights. When I fly short
distances there are three main things that I look for in a flight: cheap, non stop and friendly
employees. Southwest Airline

Sensory Registers
Discussion 1 Sensory registers relate to the memory formation in the following ways. By looking
slowly around the room, each glance takes in an enormous amount of visual information, including
colors, shapes, texture, relative brightness, and shadows. At the same time, you pick up sounds,
smells, and other kinds of sensory data. All of this raw information flows from your senses into the
sensory registers, which are like waiting rooms in which information enters and stays for only a short
time. Whether we remember any of the information depends on which operations we perform on it
(Morris Maisto p. 192). Attention is related to the memory formation in the following ways. Attention
is the process of selectively looking, listening, smelling, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Part of the answer has to do with the biology of memory, and another part has to do with the
experiences that we have before and after learning (Morris Maisto p. 209). Focus on it. So many
people get caught up in multi tasking that we often fail to do the one thing that will almost always
improve your memory, paying attention to the task at hand. This is important, because your brain
needs time to encode the information properly. If it never makes it into your memory, you won t be
able to recall it later. If you need to memorize something, quit multitasking (Grohol, J. (2010)).
Smell, touch, taste, hear and see it. The more senses you involve when you need to encode memory,
usually the more strong a memory it becomes. That s why the smell of mom s home baked cookies
can still be recalled as fresh as though she were downstairs making them just now. Need to remember
someone s name you met for the first time? It may help to look them in the eye when you repeat their
name, and offer a handshake. By doing so, you ve engaged 4 out of your 5 senses (Grohol, J.

Falling asleep at the wheel isn t the only hazard posed by tired police. Compared with well rested
colleagues, officers who met the criteria for a sleep disorder were more likely to make serious
administrative or safety errors and exhibit uncontrolled anger toward suspects (Harding, 2011). Sleep
problems had a noticeable impact on the officer s work. Eighteen percent of officers who were
screened positive for a sleep disorder reported making serious administrative errors, versus 13% of

shown to exhibit an increased prevalence of fatigue, which may predispose them to greater frequency

fatigue have been found to be distinct and will compromise an individual s performance. The

Goal Setting Analysis
The type of goal setting I would suggest is performance goal. Performance goal setting allows for an
athlete to receive personal satisfaction while also contributing to the team. This is possible since a
performance goal may be reached, and in turn the team outcome goal may be reached. For example, a
basketball player may have a performance goal of completing 5 steals in a game. These steals may
lead to assists meaning additional points on the scoreboard, contributing to the team s overall win. For
this reason performance goal is the correct approach.
A client can improve their athletic performance through goal setting, specifically through performance
goals. Performance goals give an athlete specific targets to aspire too through focusing, increasing
effort, and persistence. Once the client has committed to a performance goal they will need to focus

Long and short term goals will cause the client to understand what he or she wants out of the exercise
program. Do you want to lose weight, tone up, or create a sense of well being through exercise?
Identifying time constraints will limit procrastination while, also helping the clients stay motivated
through a realistic time frame of goals being completed. Positive self talk can play a vital role in the

The Art Style Of Art Nouveau
Art Nouveau is New Art in French; it s a decorative style that reached its peak internationally in the
1890 s. The style was given different names in each country but they were all variations of New Art .
It also had very different characteristics depending on the country where the art piece was created.
Each of the designers of that time added to his work a personal touch; some of the very famous Art
Nouveau period artists include Antoni Gaudi, Josef Hoffman and Alphonse Mucha.
Art Nouveau art was characterized by an ornamental style with sinuous and a very prominent use of
flowing organic shapes.
Artists preferred using exotic detailing in their work, and were mostly being inspired by Celtic and
Japanese art.

Why Pitbulls Are Not Fair

People but instead people always are discriminating on pitbulls.
Starting with my first Reason is that it is not fair that people try to hide other dog attacks. I thought
this because more people will throw out pitbull attacks but they will try to hide other attacks for dogs
with a better reputation such as labradors. MY evidence from the passage is Despite the fact that other
breeds of dogs can and do attack citizens, these attacks go unmentioned at the news .
This just shows people are against pitbulls in an unfair way.
I have another reason about why i think pitbulls are treated unfairly. This reason in being is i think that
most of the time if the news doesn t know who the dog breed is that commited the attack they will just
say it was a pitbull . Here is my evidence from the passage The media and the Pitbull . If a Dog breed
is unknown, News media will often call it a pitbull . I think this is unfair because you shouldn t just

Public Distribution System Of India
I Introduction
Distribution is a crucial function of marketing. It provides a vital link between the producers and
customers by making available goods and services. The distribution system encompasses all
movements starting from the shipment of raw materials to the delivery of the finished products to the
customers. The distribution system undertaken by the Government is termed as Public Distribution
System .
Acc. to The Economic Times the Definition: Public distribution system is a government sponsored

II Public Distribution System in India
It is important to note that public distribution system has been the topic of debates in India for long. In
India Public Distribution System is 75 years old. Though it was started as a rationing system during
the War time scarcity situation, it has grown into being the largest system of organized food grain

has the ability to define our culture. Many people around the world listen to music while driving, at

looking at the structure behind it is very important. One of the key features of music is music
copyright and what that means to the music industry. Defining what this means in the historical

She mentions that if a copyright law is charged with protecting a particular arrangement of notes, then
maybe copyright laws should protect the riffs, melodies, harmonies, etc., or all of them. It is of great
importance to understand the meaning behind what this means by looking at copyright laws and what
it means to the music industry. One characteristic of intellectual property rights is copyright. This
means that it can be bought or sold like any other form of property (McCann 1998). McCann states
that the creator of an artistic piece of work is the first owner of a copyright. The owner has the
exclusive rights to do or to authorize anyone else to do certain things with the whole or any extensive
part of the work. The author and or the creator is at the centre of the copyright paradigm as a separate
and discrete body or entity. This is because the concept of the writer or composer is a special
participant in the production process which is worthy of attention. Authorship is important within the
context of copyright because as McCann points out: The authorship concept, although highly visible
in contemporary copyright law, usually appears as a focus of consensus rather than debate. Authorship
, as deployed in texts and in cultural understandings, has been anything but a stable, inert foundation
for the structure of copyright doctrine. Rather, the ideologically charged

number of drug citations fell, reducing the overall social cost of drug use. Goncalves also provides
that when drug citations returned to pre NSFAD levels from 2005 2010 the associated social costs
were still reduced compared to pre NSFAD social costs (205). These findings as a whole are
misleading for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Next, as previously proven, policing had a negative cost shift overall due to the NSFAD calling for
more funding to go to drug trafficking policing. Local policing costs have not significantly changed,
though, meaning that the NSFAD did not augment the amount of police interaction with drug users.
Taking into account this information it can be claimed that in terms of the social cost, or the taxpayer
burden, the NSFAD has been a mixed bag. What can be positively asserted is that both prison costs
and the lost income/productivity of the drug offend has been significantly reduced due to the
introduction of decriminalization and CTD s. Taking into account all four social cost categories
identified by Goncalves as well as the their respective limitations and caveats, it can not be
confidently be claimed that the overall social costs of drug use following the implementation of the
NSFAD were decreased, rather success in reducing negative social repercussions should be considered

The Impact Of England And Wales Deals With Young People
In most of the jurisdiction in the world children are treated in a different way than adults. Applying the
full force of the criminal law to children and young people has long been held to be debatable. On this
paper we will be critically assessing the way in which England and Wales deals with young people.
The Children act 1989 and the Criminal Justice Act 1991 were the significant event occurred in the
youth justice system in 1990s which had the combine effect that separates the system of dealing with
children perceived to be in need of care and to be dealt in a separate court namely Youth court. This
was aimed to be a welfare based system. But the increases in the juvenile crime in the 1990s and
widespread publicity over persistent young offenders and the murder of two year old James Bulger by
two ten year old boys became major concern which forced the main political parties to reconsider their
positions on crime and punishment. As a result the political party committed to be tough on crime .
The use of warnings and cautions was criticised and discouraged. Later secure training orders for 12
14 year old and longer custodial sentence were introduced by the Criminal Justice and Public Order
Act 1994.
Also the common law doctrine of Doli Incapax, the presumption that a child between the ages of 10
and 14 year olds could not be prosecuted unless it could be proved that they knew the offence to be
seriously wrong , as oppose to merely naughty or mischievous, which is a

Change Blindness And Its Effects On Blindness
Many studies and experiments have been conducted to explain why change blindness occurs and in
what situations is change blindness more likely to occur. Literature on change blindness is quite
extensive, as it is an emerging area in psychology. A number of researchers have conducted
experiments into the key areas where change blindness has been found to cause consequential
outcomes. These areas include the effects of change blindness on eye witness testimonies, driving
ability, and effects on autism. Literature on change blindness places an emphasis on methodology and
this literature review will focus primarily on this. According to Simons Levin (1998) change blindness
is the phenomenon that occurs when a person fails to detect large changes between one viewed scene
and another. Recent studies show similar findings and evidence as to the original literature into change
blindness. As stated by Rensink, 2002 (as cited in Davies Hone, 2007), change blindness has been the
subject of intensive research in recent years beginning with studies in which researchers manipulated
the content of abstract scenes.
Researchers do differ on their perspectives on change blindness depending upon their method
approach and background or field; however literature is largely in an agreed consensus as to what
change blindness is and its effects on attention. Change blindness is studied by using the methodology
of change detection, which is where participants are shown two stimuli that are

  • 2. The Diamond Necklace Affair Essay The Diamond Necklace Affair Marie Antoinette, Queen of France from 1770 to 1797 was despised by the people of France. Their hatred of her and the monarchy in general led to the French Revolution. Many issues led to the unpopularity of Queen Maria Antoinette, her vanity, her disregard for the people, but perhaps the most significant was the Affair of the Diamond Necklace. In 1785, the court jewelers, Bohmer and Basange, constructed a necklace with five hundred and forty diamonds of varying sizes in an ugly arrangement that resembled the collars worn by circus animals. They hoped that King Louis XV would purchase it for his favorite, Madame du Barry. Unfortunately, the king died before the necklace was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was, after all, the Queen that tried to prevent him from being appointed Grand Almoner of France. Campan replied that the gentleman must be mistaken. Bohmer answered that Campan was the one being deceived. His eminence, he said, sees [the Queen] in private and he has brought me thirty thousand francs from the Queen as a down payment. Madame Campan immediately notified the Queen of his visit. When Marie Antoinette called the jeweler back for questioning the diabolical plot was discovered (Komroff 86). The plot began in 1777 when, against Marie Antoinette s wishes, Rohan was named Grand Almoner. Trying desperately to soften the Queen s anger, realizing that if she wouldn t acknowledge him, his power in court would diminish greatly, he wrote many letters to her but to no avail. She still refused to honor him with the slightest sign of recognition (86). His desire for recognition led to his involvement with an adventuress and swindler by the name of Countess de la Motte Valois (Affair). Countess Jeanne la Motte Valois came from a very strange background. She was a direct descendant of King Henry II of France but generations of bad marriages had reduced the family to poverty. She married an officer of the gendarmes and the couple assumed the titles of Count and Countess (Komroff 87). When a chance ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Polio Literature Review Critical Review provide a literature review of the public health significance of the health issue talked about in the case study. Please use 6 8 references and include them in a separate reference page (750 1000 words). Polio, or poliomyelitis, is an infectious disease that manifests as a variety of symptoms, the most severe of which is paralysis which can lead to permanent disability and death. Some people show no symptoms at all. Children who recover from polio at a young age may develop new symptoms later in life ( CDC Global Health Polio What Is Polio?, n.d.). Polio was considered a disease of developed countries for much of the 1900s. However, in the 1960s and 1970s, prevalence of polio in schoolchildren in developing countries across the world was found to be much higher than in the United States (Modlin, 2010). By 2000, polio has been mostly eradicated around the world, with the number of cases having fallen by more than 99%. Today, there are only a few countries that still have new cases of polio each year and the total number of reported polio cases is, on average, less than 100 each year ( CDC Global Health Polio Updates on CDC s Polio Eradication Efforts March 18, 2016, n.d.). Vaccination exists for polio, with two forms currently in use. The live poliovirus vaccination is more effective and widely used in endemic regions, while the inactive vaccination is used in areas where polio has been eradicated (Modlin, 2010). But the other kind of football, the football the rest of the world knows, has no padding or helmets. This other football is known in America as soccer. In more than 175 countries across the globe, football, or soccer, rates as the number 1 national sport. Football dates back as far as thousands of years ago. In 1994, over 1 billion people watched the World Cup, and the events leading up to it. The fans are everything to football. The pride of their city or country equals the pride of their football team. A football game is not about sitting and quietly watching the game while eating hotdogs and peanuts... it is a wild fiasco! The fans dress up in costumes and their team colors, they paint their faces and bodies and sing songs in unison about their team. The stadiums are gigantic and chaotic. The Maracana Stadium in Brazil is usually filled up to it s capacity with 220,000 screaming fans. Once, many Brazilian fans fainted in the stands when they lost to Uruguay. The popularity of this sport also has it s downsides. It has even been deadly. For instance, in 1969 the qualifying games between El Salvador and Honduras caused a war between the 2 countries. • 7. The Themes Of African American Literature Within African American Literature, there are many themes that are relatable across many different forms of media. Paintings, for example, can have similar and contradictory themes to those that are used in African American Literature. Like authors with their literature, artists too take from their experiences and opinions and form a creation that is a reflection of what they believe. These creations, both literature and paintings, can contain certain topics that are quite alike. Ellis Wilson, and African American artist, created a painting that exhibits the theme of spirituality in his painting Prayer in the Field. This theme can be linked to at least three works from African American literature that broadens the way readers and spectators of art see spirituality. In Prayer in the Field, it is not difficult to see that spirituality is a major theme. There are three elements of this painting that support the theme of spirituality. The first element of this painting that one notices is the bright colors used. Ellis Wilson, whom is known for his expressive, emphasis of color, uses warm and inviting colors to create a scene that conveys complete tranquility (Ellis Wilson). Along with color, the next element is the four figures kneeling in the field praying. These elongated forms, which Wilson is also known for, are what bring in the spirituality aspect (Ellis Wilson). The tone of Prayer in the Field created by the colors is what gives these kneeling figures meaning. The warm ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A Survey Report On Malaysian Diaspora Introduction To better understand what media sources the Singaporean diaspora uses to find out about news back home in Singapore, I conducted a survey amongst Singaporeans based overseas, namely in places such as Australia, the United States, some countries in South East Asia and also in Europe. The demographics used were age based, dispersed mainly among working class adults and university students. The survey resulted in a 40% readership of www.straitstimes.com, the online version of Singapore s leading newspaper The Straits Times and a 27% readership of another website, which is also a subsidiary of the Straits Times, called Stomp. Going from these numbers, one can say that the bulk of Singaporeans overseas still rely heavily on the online version of The Straits Times for news back home in Singapore. From here, I can conclude that the key media outlet utilised by Singaporeans overseas would be the StraitsTimes.com. My survey also includes the purposes of these sites, namely what Singaporeans use these sites for and how much whether or not they consider these sources to be relevant. In this essay, I intend to analyse the The Straits Times and its online counterpart, www.straitstimes.com , as well as its other subsidiary STOMP (Straits Times Online Mobile Print). There are two models of HIE: centralized model and decentralized or federated model (LaTour, Eichenwald Maki, Oachs, 2013, p. 221). In centralized model, patients medical information is stored in one single data warehouse and is managed by representative from different healthcare organizations. Patients information will be submitted regularly into the data warehouse and all participated organizations can view the data externally by query requests. The key areas identified for intervention in the national service framework are: reducing smoking, promoting healthy eating, promoting physical activity and reducing obesity, although several other factors are known to contribute to the development of CHD. Smoking has long been known to be a factor in the development of CHD. According to Smeltzer and Bare (2000), smoking decreases blood flow to the extremities and increases heart rate and pressure via stimulation of the sympathetic nervous system, causing vasoconstriction. In addition, it raises the chances of clot formation by increasing the aggregation of platelets. Campbell (2006) suggests that the toxic components of cigarette smoke damage the endothelial lining of the blood vessels, which may initiate the development of atherosclerosis. • 24. Machiavelli And Plato Essay Niccolio Machiavelli (Born May 3rd, 1469 amp;#8211; 1527 Florence, Italy.) His writings have been the source of dispute amongst scholars due to the ambiguity of his analogy of the amp;#8216;Nature of Politics ; and the implication of morality. The Prince, has been criticised due to it amp;#8217;s seemingly amoral political suggestiveness, however after further scrutiny of other works such as The Discourses, one can argue that it was Machiavelli amp;#8217;s intention to infact imply a positive political morality. Plastic has become a well known and wanted commodity around the world. It is a commodity that is involved in most things that we use; however, we are oblivious of its bad effects. In the article Plastic is rubbish it shows that in 2010 alone, Americans created 31 million tons of plastic waste such as containers, appliances, and cups (n.d.). When plastic is used this excessively it acts as a hazard and a harmful commodity, since it endangers the lives of many creatures including humans. The way this commodity is disposed off should be efficient and should not result in harming the environment either. To solve this problem, all governments should take action and improper plastic disposal should be made illegal and its production should be moderated to lessen its effect on the environment, human health, and overall on the economy worldwide. Governments around the world respond differently to the issue of plastic bags, some are in the view that plastic bags are harmful both to the environment and to human beings while others are in complete support of their use. In order for Sledge to describe the nature of his experience in the war, he needed to describe the essence of what it was truly like. I asked God Why, why, why? The battle that the soldier has with himself, is almost if not more damaging than the physical battle of war. He will never forget his experience with battle, no matter how hard he tries the memories of artillery, blood, and death cannot be erased. I prayed like you to survive, but look at me now. The other effects that war has on the men is the instability that surrounds them at every hour of the day. They are either engaged in battle having bullets and artillery fired at them, or waiting for battle just so they can be deposited back in the pressure cooker of survival. By looking slowly around the room, each glance takes in an enormous amount of visual information, including colors, shapes, texture, relative brightness, and shadows. At the same time, you pick up sounds, smells, and other kinds of sensory data. All of this raw information flows from your senses into the sensory registers, which are like waiting rooms in which information enters and stays for only a short time. One characteristic of intellectual property rights is copyright. This means that it can be bought or sold like any other form of property (McCann 1998). McCann states that the creator of an artistic piece of work is the first owner of a copyright. The owner has the exclusive rights to do or to authorize anyone else to do certain things with the whole or any extensive part of the work. The author and or the creator is at the centre of the copyright paradigm as a separate and discrete body or entity. This is because the concept of the writer or composer is a special participant in the production process which is worthy of attention. Authorship is important within the context of copyright because as McCann points out: The authorship concept, although highly visible in contemporary copyright law, usually appears as a focus of consensus rather than debate.
