Personification In Tale Of Two Cities
A Tale of Two Cities, by Charles Dickens, narrates the frustrations of the common people toward
Foulon, a French magistrate. The people rejoice when Foulon is imprisoned since he treated them
awfully. The nature of the French Revolution is the common people s elation at the downfall of the
aristocracy. Dickens utilizes personification, motif, and symbolism to describe the relationship
between the common people and Foulon.
The neighborhood of the common people, Saint Antoine, is personified to show the universal
feelings of rage the peasants feel toward the aristocracy. In the beginning, Saint Antoine is
portrayed as just a physical place, but when Foulon is mentioned, it assumes the characteristics of a
man. Foulon is an indifferent, awful man, who stood by and watched the commoners suffer, and
mocked them by saying they should, eat grass. By personifying an entire neighborhood, Dickens
illustrates how Foulon outraged the whole population, not just a fraction of the people. Every
commoner has a personal vendetta and anger for the French nobility, and thus Saint Antoine is
portrayed as one entity. The peasants hold an intense rage toward Foulon, who would make all of
their lives insufferable. Foulon is not just attacked by a few commoners, he is attacked by the
single entity of Saint Antoine.
Grass serves as a powerful motif that reflects the vengeance of the peasants. The French aristocrat
Foulon told the starving people they might eat grass. He has no regard for the

History Of Fabric And Textiles Textile Development During...
The history of fabric and textiles
Textile development during the Industrial Revolution (1780 1850)
In 1968, Eric Hobsbawm said: Whoever says Industrial Revolution says cotton. Among many
historians the Industrial Revolution is considered as the process in which technological changes led
by the mechanized factories of the cotton industry created large profits for innovators that continued
in succeeding decades. It was the key event in the emergence of modern economic growth, which
led to shifting manufacturing from people s houses and shops to factories. It was a time of vivid
change, from hand tools and handmade items, to the products which were produced by machines.
Nevertheless, life improved, the industrial revolution had some harmful consequences, such as
increased pollution, harmful working conditions, employment of women and children, who were
made to work long and hard hours, etc.
The shift to factories in the United States grew out of a process that began in the British textile
industry. British inventors developed machines to do tasks that have been done by hand.
Sometimes the machines replaced other, older and weaker machines. For example the spinning
jenny, which was run by water power, replaced the spinning wheel; the power loom replaced the
hand loom. These machines were small enough to be placed in the cottages. But later, people
invented bigger and more powerful machines, which needed a huge space to be positioned. This
was the reason why people started to

Janie in Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston
Thus, their inability to relate to her does not come from hatred but form their upbringing or
skepticism. Janie s story (profoundly economic in emphasis, as Houston Baker has argued)
focuses on three representative husbands (Newman, Oct., 2003). Although the focal point of
Their Eyes Were Watching God correlates with Janie s relationship with her three husbands and
other people. It is the main and primary idea of Janie s search for divine clarification and a
strong sense of her own identity. Janie is alone as seen in the beginning and the ending of the
story. The novel is not a story of Janie s quest for love but rather than her quest for sense of
security and independence. Janie s improvement has been charted along the way as she studies...

123) (Newman, Oct., 2003). Her outburst was somewhat malicious towards the dying Jody as
she measures the depth of Jody s dominance of her inner life. When Joe sickens (kidney disease),
the rumor immediately runs that Janie is responsible as the community suspects that Joe was
poisoned (Newman, Oct., 2003). As Janie begins to find her own voice, she propels through
social subtleties in order for her to express herself. On the surface it may appear that Teacake is
able to provide Janie with a better place in a more authentic, less money driven world than Joe
Starks, offering her an open, giving form of love and treating her as an equal (Newman, Oct.,
2003). Janie embellishes her relationship with Tea Cake, as he teaches her the maiden language
all over. Having lived under Joe, Janie is cautious when she first meets Tea Cake (Shmoop
Editorial Team). It isn t the white man s burden that Janie carries; it is the gift of her own love
(p. 297) (Newman, Oct., 2003). Having to begin controlling her speech, Janie reaches a new
degree as she learns how to be silent when she chooses. This idea of silence shows her strength
rather than her passivity had come ahead during Janie s trial can be based on the interpretations
of the narrator over her testimony. For most of Tea Cake s downfall, Janie is merely a passive
spectator (Shmoop Editorial Team). Though she knows she can do little to save Tea Cake, she still
tries with her whole heart. Up to this point, the dialogue here has

Analysis Of Toni Bambara s The Lesson And Medea
The general goal of most authors is to seize and maintain the reader s attention for the purpose of
entertainment, but some authors seek to extend past the realm of entertainment. These authors
grasp the reader s attention for the purpose of addressing social and societal problems. Thus, the
reader finishes the literary work with a newfound insight or a broadened perspective of the
world as a whole. This tactic of social commentary is successfully deployed in Toni Bambara s
The Lesson and Euripedes Medea. In these two literary works, both authors address key societal
issues of the time periods in which the literary works were written. In Medea, Euripedes addresses
the discrepancy between the acceptable behaviors of men and women in ancient Greece. Likewise,
Toni Bambara uses the plot of The Lesson to teach the reader a lesson about the economic inequality
in the United Statesof America. Although The Lesson was based on life in Harlem throughout the
1960 s and Medea was based on life in ancient Greece, both offerings of social commentary remain
applicable even throughout present times. In Medea, Euripedes tells a story of a woman whose
husband has recently decided to marry another woman. As any woman would be, Medea is
saddened and hurt by her husband Jason s decision. Unfortunately, Medea s sadness turns to anger,
which drives her ruthless actions throughout the remainder of the story. Medea s anger causes her
to seek revenge against her husband. She ultimately elects

The Definition of Organic Foods Should Be Redefined Essay
Organic versus non organic foods are always being debated to whether they are worth the extra
cost. This seems to be an easy question, at first, but begs a more in depth analysis to come to a
conclusion. Organic definitions can vary by government, company and even individuals. Many
people have their own ideas of what organic means. My personal definition, before this research
assignment, was that organic products were grown with no pesticides, chemical additives, or
preservatives and grown in a humane way. Meaning that if it said 100% organic, that is what was
meant. This however, is not the case when it comes to the government s definition of organic,
according to T. A. Niewold who wrote, Organic More Healthy; Green Shoots in a... Show more

If these claims prove to be true, as some research suggests, then this may be well worth the cost
if one can afford them. In the case of the meat we eat, how do we know that it is truly organic
(hence the necessity for a more strict definition), and why do we even need it to be? There are
several reasons for us to eat organic meat, depending on what the definition ultimately ends up
being. One reason to eat organic meat is the fact of the spread of Bovine spongiform
encephalopathy or what is more commonly known as Mad Cow Disease. There is a human
form of this disease called New Variant Creutzfeldt Jakob disease (NCJD). This disease was first
brought to light in the 1990 s in Europe by the discovery of link between these two diseases
(Freudenrich, 3). If one had lived in Europe in the early 90 s, for at least six months, (as my
family and I did) they may have been exposed to this disease. In the past, cows (who are naturally
herbivores) were fed remnants of dead and dying sheep. Sheep that possibly had the disease
called, Scrapie which is similar to BSE, and could explain the reason for the infection to have
started in cows, eventually jumping to humans (Freudenrich, 6). The theory of how this disease
came about varies, but one of the most prevalent relates to a protein called a prion . These prions

special occasion for many reasons but the most significant is that we have chosen as a
community to make a difference and to show our own ability to be heroes. People define heroism
in so many individualized ways and the world is full of heroes that make a significant impact and
have admirable traits of all kinds. Our own designated heroes affect our mindset and influence our
thoughts and our actions. It is powerful and influential. To me, a true hero changes the world and

educate and bring awareness and they pride themselves in celebrating every small step towards a
cure. Cancer is deadly, and people should do everything in their power to help find a cure. There
is not a single person on this earth that has not been affected by cancer. Ghandi said, be the
change you want to see in your world. Everyone should choose to be the change and choose to be a
hero, even if it s for someone you do not know. Today, we are privileged to have Nancy Brinker

Comparing Vygotsky s Theory And Piagetian Theory

conversations with adults and playing with them. On Saturday, Sep. 24, 2016, he was at our game.
He was very involved with cheering for his mother and the rest of the team. Afterwards, everyone

Her name is Faith Charlotte Capuano and she is 7 months. Her Birthday is February 25, 2016.
She is one of the cutest babies I have ever seen. She is extremely chubby and has very chubby
cheeks. Faith absolutely loves playing with her other cousins who are only a few months older
than her. They always have play dates together and are all very spoiled with many toys to play
with. By Faith playing with toys, she gives us a great example of Piagetian theory. She can
finally sit up on her own, sleeps throughout the whole night, and loves to babble. When my uncle
talks to her, she tries to talk back to him. If you call her name she quickly looks at you and pays
full attention to you. When Faith gives you her attention she is following the Information
Processing theory. Faith may only be 7 months but she can understand everyone who is around
her and all of her surroundings. Her favorite toy to play with and nap with is her owl, his name
is hooty hoot. She brings it with her everywhere. If she is napping in the car she will have the
owl right next to her. One of her other favorite things to play with are her feet. She is always
grabbing them, playing with her toes, and putting them in her mouth. I have noticed that she loves
to grab her right foot with her left hand and put her righthand into her mouth, especially when she
is in the car. As she plays with her feet she gives a perfect example of Vygotsky s theory when

My Shield
My shield consisted of glowing Christmas lights with my family, sports, and dreams listed as
important things in my life. I had prepared my poster before the day of my speech so that I
would be able to practice before my speech the next day. Although I practiced a little before the
day of my speech, it was not enough now that I look back on how my speech went. I felt that
because I was sick 2 days before I performed my speech I was not prepared enough for when I
needed to go. As I was standing in front of my peers I was extremely nervous, and I am sure my
classmates could tell. I also know that you could tell I was nervous during my presentation. This

I did a very good job of getting my three points across without confusing anyone. Another thing I
thought I did very well was the visuals I brought in. They were very big and everyone in the
classroom was able to see them clearly. As the next speech comes around one thing I need to
work on is my eye contact. During my shield speech I only looked up a few times, but I never
made eye contact individually with any people. Another thing I can improve is how long I
practice for my speech. If I would run through my speech a few times throughout the week and
the night before my speech would turn out much better. I also made very well written out index
cards, but I did not use them as much of an aid. I think that if I practiced a little more than what I
did my speech could have flowed better. During my speech one thing that was really unexpected
for me was the time. I came into the speech thinking I would have plenty of time to get everything
I wanted to say out, but when I started talking about my family I was already three minutes in.
When it came to the actual speech I almost had a small nervous

Marble And Depicting 10 Individual Reliefs
The piece, Sarcophagus of Junius Bassus, is constructed of marble and depicts 10 individual
reliefs, separated by columns. The figures in each subsection occupies most of the frame , with
each figure s head nearing the top of the low hanging ceiling . This height leads to non idyllic
proportions throughout the piece, with some people standing only 5 heads tall and with heads
thicker than their torsos. This disproportion leads to the belief that human anatomy was not the
priority of the sculptor, but rather the narrative of the overall piece, with no individual subsection
dominating the composition. The first subsection in the top left shows a bearded man and his right
hand outstretched to the left side of the canvas, with his other hand hovering over a kneeling child,
with another man standing behind him and some small animal, possibly a lamb, standing beneath
the outstretched hand. According to Stokstad, this may be a depiction of the Binding of Isaac, in
which Abraham passes the test of faith and willingly goes to sacrifice his firstborn son, Isaac,
before divine intervention gives him a lamb as a replacement (Stokstad 168). This conclusion is
consistent with the depiction, allowing the viewer to conclude that the outstretched hand is likely
holding a knife and the figure present in the background is an angel, delivering the lamb in tribute.
The subsection below the Binding of Isaac shows a seated man with a face of anguish, with two
others standing over him, apparently

He had been their spiritual leader, mediating their relationship with their God, the God of Abraham,

the people. But Moses died it is noted that the Hebrew people mourned and grieved for thirty
days (Deuteronomy 34). The loss of their leader affected them greatly because Moses had been a
prophet unlike any other. He had performed miraculous signs and wonders, and had met the Lord
face to face. For the first time in forty years, the Hebrew people are without a leader. But the Lord
once again provided for them and names Joshua as Moses successor and as the leader of the

Therefore, to what extent is Belize coping with the technological era? On December 2014, the
Prime Minister Honorable Dean Barrow said that the year 2015 would be the year of technology
(Channel 5 Belize, 2014). As a result, on the month of February 2015, the Government issued
9,000 tablets to tertiary level students and as well provided free access to Wi Fi in each park of
the country s municipalities. In addition, the Prime Minister also said that with the help of Koreans
they are making plans towards building a Technology University in Belmopan. It all sounds great,
but there are still plenty of drawbacks. Belize is second to lowest in Broadband Internet speed in the
Caribbean (Channel 5 Belize, 2015). As reported by a survey made by the International issues
from a Caribbean Perspective (ICT PLUS), Belize heads the list with the highest prices but
lowest download speed. Moreover, as reported in Forbes website when it comes to technology,
Belize is currently dicey . The article goes on stating that Belize has DSL but it isn t always easy
to get, service isn t that reliable and data speeds are relatively slow particularly against European
standards (Enderle, 2012). Even though the Government gave tablets to students, there is a great
need of improvement in our Education system with better access of internet, printing services and
educational tools. Our Health sector also needs to adapt the new equipments that are available.
Therefore, there is still a lot of room of improvement for Belize while coping in this technological

red, yellow, green. Kurt Nassau, who has studied the link between colors and emotions says that
those colors signify happiness in a person. Before prison, Alex is happy. But when he was in
prison, his perception of reality changes and the scenes consisted of more neutral colors like
gray and brown, which signifies depression and melancholy (Nassau). In prison, Alex s freedom
is stripped from him, leaving him depressed from boredom. The only time there is color the

Kurt Cobain ( 1967-1994 ) Essay
Kurt Cobain (1967 1994) was one of the most inventive and ingenious musicians not only in the
1990s but in all of the twentieth century. He was the lead singer and guitarist for the grunge rock
band Nirvana from 1987 to his death in 1994. Along with bassist Krist Novoselic and drummer
Dave Grohl (who was the band s third and final drummer) changed the concepts of hard rock,
punk, and heavy metal: and brought it to mainstream media. Before his rise to fame, Cobain had
a rough childhood from his parents divorcing to being bullied in school. According to

parents had given him. ...After his parents divorced when he was nine, Cobain became

mother and his sister. When his father remarried, Cobain resented his stepmother Jenny and her

discriminate against people by their race. The conditions inside the factories were horrible, they
called them sweatshops. A sweatshop is a shop or factory in which employees work for long

Identify The Importance Of Primary Children s Hospitals
Primary Children s Hospital is a tremendous hospital that cares about the patients with love and
concern, Thousands of individual children receive extraordinary care each year at Primary
Children s (History). When it comes to pediatrics, kids need special and unique care that regular
hospitals most likely can t provide. With 33 million children who are under medicaid, 2 million of
those children are medically challenged(About Children s Hospitals). Those children require long
term care that only Children s Hospitals can provide. Though Children s Hospitals are very

can always make a child happy, but one item that can also comfort a child are the fleece blankets.
Marie Henriksen the In Kind Gifts Service Projects Coordinator said, I hear back from staff and
families how the blankets help comfort children of all ages during a difficult time. Hendriksen
told me a story about a ten year old little boy who had just been through a procedure and he was
complaining a lot about how much he has now. One of the techs went and got him a fleece
blanket for him, after that he never mentioned any pain and everyone that came in he told them
to look at his cool fire engine blanket. Even spending a little time making some fleece blankets

Major Effects Of Major Depressive Disorder
Young adulthood, is defined here as the ages of 18 to 29, this is a time of great change for many
people in this age range. There has been greater risk associated with mental health and higher
levels of social stress during this time. Many people experience depression like symptoms their
first year of college. Sadly, most college students are getting the help they need. They may not
nowhere to get help or that the treatment won t help. Others don t get help for it because they think
it s just the stress that comes along with college work and life. Major Depressive Disorderis
characterized as having a depressed mood for the vast majority of the day and a loss of interest
and pleasure, among different symptoms almost every day for at least a two week long period. In
children and teenagers, major depressive disorder may manifest as an irritable rather than a sad
mood. Suicidal thoughts or suicidal plans can occur during an episode during depression, which
requires immediate attention. Major depression disorder is thought to have many possible causes,
including genetic, biological, and environmental factors. Dangerous childhood experiences and

Color Purple Banned
The Color Purple
There s always been a controversy on whether certain books should have to be banned from school
libraries or if they shouldn t. Due to the fact that most books either have vulgar language, sexual
context, violence, or even racism. Although, most books always speak the truth and show the real
world issues that are out there. The Color Purple is one of those many books that have been
removed from school libraries for multiple reasons. The book was written during an era that
shows how women were treated, abused, raped, and mistreated in every possible way. I strongly

Reflections on Privatization and Criminal Justice Essays
Reflections on Privatization and Criminal Justice
Thank you very much for the welcome, and for giving my talk. When the Fraser Institute called
me last year, they rang up and said they were having a conference and we would like to invite
you, and I thought I think you have the wrong person. Basically, everybody else there, except
myself and one person from Nova Scotia, were in favour of privatization and very strongly in
favour of it, especially with respect to prisons. It was actually very educational and interesting to
engage in that debate. First of all I would like to thank you very much for the invitation and to
wish you all the best with your new programme. I am glad that you have asked me to speak about

So on the one hand we are surrounded by the phenomenon and on the other hand we don t know
as much about it as we should. Even my own work, I might add, privatization is more or less a
tangent for me as I do other areas of research. I think it is indication that very few people in
Canada, criminologists, are systematically focussing on this but I keep getting roped back into this.
I just wish I had three lives at once so that I could pursue it the way I really want to. Privatization is
an area that really needs attention, and lets hope that students here at St. Thomas are going to take
this up. Let me just mention one or two topics that need attention. Many people talk about
privatization in criminal justice, including myself, mention that it is likely that private companies
will try and influence criminal justice policy in various places. Yet when you look for the empirical
support for this there is very little factual information there. Or we talk a bit about the decline of the
military in industrial conflicts, the end of the Cold War, and new markets opening up for these
companies internationally and we see some of the companies moving from the United States into
Britain, Australia and now also Canada, and we hear things about them moving into Latin American
countries and East European countries, but again this international dimension is one that there has
been very little systematic research on. So the whole area is just begging for

Flynas could stand to make a lot of profit if it were to partner with Postal services like Aramex,
Saudi Post and DHL. The reason behind this is that, for postal services it is a big expense to
manage a fleet of its own for pick up and delivery of cargo. Partnering with Flynas gives these
postal services the advantage of not having to deal with the expense of a fleet as it would rely on
Flynas fleet. Flynas would have to make very little changes to its fleet to accommodate postal
services as most planes are already designed to carry a lot of cargo for the passengers. Decreasing
cargo charges while gaining contracts from postal services would also facilitate Flynas in achieving
its goals.
The airline industry market is not a saturated one. There are very little airlines that provide the
same service that Flynas provides. While there is value and a certain degree of safety in
diversification, for Flynas to diversify would mean to take focus and financial resources away
from its core business. Currently, in its category, Flynas is leading the market and stands to enter
a few other market segments as well. However, if it were to diversify and take focus away from
its core business it would become a target of the new airlines that are trying to enter the

Russia Case Study In energy trade field, Russia, as one of largest energy producers and

energy resources and energy exports share significant part of their economic growth. Canada has
largest stable and largest energy consumer U.S. while Russia has the second largest energy

main reasons driving their economy growth. Russia s energy security depends largely on the
global demand and international energy market price. Thus, Russian energy security is
vulnerable to market forces and benefits from economic stability, particularly that of the

CHOCOLATE INDUSTRY IN UK CADBURY, UK The Chocolate industry in the UK has been
facing many challenges in recent times. The escalation of prices of the main ingrediants such as

With excess production capacity and lesser competition, several players engage in price
competition to get higher sales. Cadbury goes head to head with Nestle amp; Mars as other
players have fairly smaller market shares and often struggle due to these top companies.
According to Hooley et all (Marketing strategy and competitive positioning) high exit barriers
for a company lead to higher competition as well. If a company is unable to exit a market due to
high initial investments, high costs of redundancy (monetary and social) they work harder to
compete with other companies. Several companies have egotistical as well as psychological
reasons for remaining in a market and ensure they stay on top of people s minds as exiting is not
an option due to brand history and value. Brands such as Cadbury have incredible media
presence covering internet, television, print, etc. Cadbury is a major player on the internet and
uses this tool as an advantage over competitors. Newer avenues such as E markets are
intensifying competition and deterring exit of big companies. Competition in the chocolate
industry is also increased due to the fact that product differentiation is low. The intrinsic quality
and external value of a bar of chocolate is similar therefore competition for sales is increased.
Switching costs in terms of price and availability for customers is low as many players have

The City Of Ancient Greece
The city states of ancient Greece were at constant strife with each other. They utterly detested
each other and were solely independent. However, many factors unified the Greeks, loosely, at
all times, and they even brought the Greeks together at times. These factors came to be because
of their similarities of traditions and beliefs. Language, religion, and athletics were all results of
these factors. Language unified because everyone would understand what was being said by
anyone, and athletics would gather the people to one place, allowing for discussion and chances
of treaties being made. Also, Religion unified because the Greeks all believed and feared common

An example of this would be the Tower of Babel. In this time period of history, the world was not
divided into nations. All the people of the world were all in one place and spoke one common
language. They tried to build a tower to reach the heavens and make a name for themselves, but
God did not approve of this. Therefore, he decided to confuse all the languages of the people,
creating many different languages. All of a sudden, the people could not understand each other
because they all spoke different languages, resulting in the people scattering all over the world. This
shows us how important it is to have a common language, and no matter how unimportant it looks,
it is one of the biggest contributing factors to unifying a nation or civilization.
Along with a common language, the ancient Greeks had a common alphabet. There were two main
forms of the alphabet, but they only had slight differences like the dialect of the Greeks. This was
also important in unifying Greece because a common alphabet also meant that communication
through letters was possible between city states, and literature, history, and knowledge could be
passed down from generation to generation. All the knowledge and ideas from famous philosophers,
such as Plato, Socrates, Pythagoras, and Aristotle, could be passed down in history, and poems,
stories, religious information, history, and plays could be passed down. This meant that their

`` All Sex, All The Time `` By Theodore Dalrymple
Theodore Dalrymple, in the essay All Sex, All the Time reflects on the change of view of the
people about sex and how it has lead people into more confusion and conflict than before.
Dalrymple s real name being Anthony Daniels, he picked up the pseudonym of Theodore
Dalrymple for the purpose of his essays. There were times when virginity was a pride to men
and women. However, it still prevails in some countries, this custom and the people have been
changing. He states that the world is now free to enjoy sexual pleasures without any fear of the
myths and taboos that existed in history. Although people feel that they are satisfied and are free
to choose this path of life, sex has lead people into confusion, contradiction, and conflict states
Dalrymple (Dalrymple 1). Dalrymple takes the chance of stating how the world will be, in about a
hundred years. He thinks that twelve year girls would be in the streets at night, as prostitutes, where
police would be guarding them and health authorities would come by to distribute condoms to
prevent any infections. Then, the common people would be given instruments to get rid of the
condoms in their backyard and gardens. The reason behind this is that morals are dying; over the
years, people have become non judgmental. People feel that being non judgmental is staying away
from people s wishes and letting them do what they like, in their own ways. Being non judgmental,
in this case affects those young girls, the public, the environment

Principle of Management
Introduction
My business club intends to hold a debate competition at the end of the month. I am been selected
and the title has given as, Managers today should use the democratic style of leadership rather than
automatic style.
Before I start this title, I decide to determine both of the style.
Democratic Style
Democratic style is a platform to create a team to participate in the decision making process. When
an enterprise is making decision, they usually use democratic style in many parts of the business.
Therefore, everyone has the opportunity to dedicate ideas to the decision. There are two types of

This management style is mainly exists in the enterprises.
As a business the main goal as a whole should be to gain a profit. Democratic leadership can
produce high quality and high quantity work for long periods of time. When using this
management style, there is one people making the decision and there is no confusion when
during the conception. This also leads to decisions being made more effective and more
efficiency. Employees will love this management style in business because they feel involved
and a part of the process. Their performance may be rather than in an authoritarian setting, while
give them the power to do the work could lead to some rely on other to bear the brunt of the
work on the project. Also, it depending on what type of work, employees may feel like the work
is being pushed down on them because as a manager you don t want to do it. Furthermore, when
employees are making decisions, this can improve their sense of worth, self esteem and motivates
them to perform better. Decision making process may create advantages such as diverse input, the
establishment of emotional attachment with the extra effort of employees. This style of leadership
is ideal for a leader who hopes to make employees understand the problem that may affect them, and
who want the staffs involve in problem solving and decision making.
Democratic leadership works well for leaders who have the ability of flexibility and adaptation.

Natives and Self-government Essay
Natives and Self government
From the moment of organized European appearances in North America, negotiation has been a
central characteristic of relationships between aboriginal residents and newcomers. It is a
characteristic that has been evident in treaty making throughout Canada for more than three
hundred years and it continues to be the order of the day in modern treaties, claims and agreements
being negotiated with First Nations, Inuit, and MГ©tis across in Canada. 1
One of the central issues in the negotiations over the past three decades has been the question of
aboriginal self government, which has taken second place only to comprehensive land claims
negotiations in areas where no treaties have been signed to date.
VIEWS OF ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Among academics, political leaders, and government representatives differences of opinion and
concern abound: differences about the most beneficial structure of self government, about who
controls what, about when self government should be implemented, about whether or not a true
form self government can ever be achieved.
Those who are critical of current forms of aboriginal self government view them as little more than
convenient arrangements that allow aboriginal people administrative responsibility for services
which are ultimately controlled by the federal or provincial government.3 They argue that self
government is essentially glorified municipal government; arrangements which are far from the
ideal of a third level of government equal in legislative and financial authority to the federal and
provincial governments.4
Self government proposals also have their critics among the very people for whom it is intended.
For example, Inuit women have objected to many parts of the Nunavut agreement mainly because
of concerns about an emphasis on conventional southern Canadian notions of resource management.
They also had concerns and about an emphasis on the economic, social and political roles and
issues for men at the expense of those of women in Nunavut (Inuit Women‰s Association, 1993).

economy and ever snowballing prices of basic amenities like food, gas and other numerous
commodities, these peripheral strains cause problems on employee s home life. These external
conflicts are seen on their work and internal conflictarises. These peripheral stresses put hard hitting
on the economic conditions employers. Often the employees feel their work area as burden and
consequently lack of interest in the workarises. Instability in an organization can be due to the
followingreasons:
ORGANISATIONAL:
When there is reformation and reorganizing taking place in an organization in a short time frame,
leads to subversion of the organization. It occurs due to the following:
(a)Change in organizational structure.
The decision makers are not aware that how reformation and reorganizing process will affect the
corporate culture. It is fairly noticeable ,that not only the structure has been transformed but also the
cultural change has taken place instantly. Cultural changes will necessitate much more time than
changing the organizational structures. When there are melds or procurements there are clangs in
some segments which leads to aggravation of the employees. So the managers are pleased on these
cultural issues which are handled by the decision formulators of the company.
(b)Lack of communication or understanding of the organizational strategies:

Elizabeth Cady Stanton s Declaration Of Sentiments
My paper will include Elizabeth Cady Stanton and what made her set out to start the Women s
Rights Movement with her friend Susan B Anthony. Elizabeth became an early leader for the
women s rights movements, writing the Declaration of Sentiments as a sign for equal rights for
women. In every soul there is bound up some truth and some error, and each gives to the world of
thought what no other one possesses. Cousin.
Elizabeth Cady Stanton was born on November 12, 1815 in Johnstown New York. She was eight of
eleven children, six of her siblings died. Her father was a Federalist attorney. Her father introduced
her to law which later on grew into her legal and social activism. Cady s father s profession also led
her to embrace the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She wasn t allowed to go to college because colleges would let girls in, so instead she studied at
Emma Willard s Troy Female Seminary. Elizabeth would read the law with her father but, she wasn
t allowed to practice because of course she was a women. She was drawn to the abolitionist,
temperance, and women s rights movements through visits to the home of her cousin , Gerrit Smith.
In 1840, Elizabeth went to the World Anti Slavery Convention that was being taken place in
London. She attended it with Lucretia Mott, who is a outspoken Quaker abolitionist. Lucretia Mott
was one of the leading voices of the abolitionist and feminist movements of her time . She was
raised in a Quaker household. Elizabeth then made the Declaration of Rights and Sentiments ,
which she modeled after the Declaration of Independence .
The growth for the first Woman s Rights Convention was put in 1840, when Elizabeth Cady Stanton
met Lucretia Mott at the World Anti Slavery Convention in London , the conference that would not
seat Mott and other women delegates because they were of course women. Stanton felt the task of
drawing up the Declaration of Sentiments that would define the meeting, taking the declaration of
independence as her guide Stanton then would just go on how all men and women are created
equal and then she went on to list eighteen injuries and usurpations on the part of men to women .
The convention took place in five

employees starting July 2, 2015. You may purchase these exclusive benefits at competitive market
value which will includes a specialized employee discount. Employee stock options have been
created as a compensation plans benefitting companies, stockholders, and employees. There are a
few important pieces of information all employees should know:

2.Who qualifies to purchase stock options?
3.How do you utilize payroll deductions to purchase employee stock options?
4.What happens if you leave the Harris Enterprise? What Is a Stock Option?
All employees have the right to know what a stock option entails. Employee stock options are
contracts giving employees the right to buy the company s common stock at a specified
exercise price after a specified vesting period. The price at which the option is provided is
usually the market price at the time the options are purchased. Employees who have purchased

Nick Kennedy Stull is a student of communications at Saddleback College.
Abstract
This paper will discuss the current efforts at an HIV vaccine including different approaches to
solving the vaccine problem and how close scientists are. Scientists have been struggling with a HIV
vaccine for a while. One solution is a drug that has enhanced and extended the lives of people with
HIV/Aids. Other scientists have similar methods to solving the Vaccine problem with clinical trials
and patients. However the solutions suggested in my literature review also say that they have
difficulties with following through. Basically HIV is not an easy thing to work on and ... Show more

The Denver Center For Performing Arts
The production A Christmas Carol was performed at the Denver Center for Performing Arts
located in Denver, Colorado. I had the pleasure to attend the show on December 14th in the Stage
Theater and I was captivated. This show captured the essence of a theatrical production. To avoid
false impressions, the production I saw was performed in 2013. This is a foretaste for those
thinking about attending the future performance in 2016; especially those who desire the theater
experience.
The Denver Center for Performing Arts has an exceptional reputation. The theater complex is
coined the second largest performing arts center compared to Broadway. Their qualitative
productions can attest to this and A ChristmasCarol is no exception. A Christmas Carolwas
originally a novel written by Charles Dickens and has been adapted into numerous renditions. The
Denver Center for Performing Arts has audiences experience the story in a different way, through
the art of theater. Director Bruce K. Sevy, playwright adaptor Richard Hellesen and composer
David de Berry captured the nature of the classic story and made it into a family friendly
production perfect for the holiday season.
Having knowledge and involvement in both the acting and the technical aspects of theater, I
expected the production to deliver a qualitative performance that gave its audience the full
experience. This experience is achieved by the elements of theater such as acting, lights, sounds,
props, costume and set design

Challenges Faced By Companies Of The Bionanotechnology...
There are many challenges faced by companies in the Bionanotechnology sector depending on their
size.
Small companies
According to Dr. Elicia Maine, an Associate Professor at the SFU s Beedie School of Business,
most of the Bionanotechnology research in Canada takes place at the University level. The
researchers at the University level look for the labs in their own University only that have
industrial participation. So, many of the Nano biotech researches for the startups remain at the
University level and therefore lag behind on new research due to scarcity of funds. Further, the
researchers at the startups have to work for long hours and get little time to read the journals related
to their research and keep themselves updated about the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dr. Maine suggested that Nano biotech companies should divide their research into different
branches or even different companies, so that they can maintain diversity while accepting the
Venture Capitalists demands. An important example of such a company is Nanogram Corporation,
which directed its research into different areas including medical devices, consumer electronics and
solar energy. The research at Nanogram was purchased by a Japanese company Teijin Ltd. In the
year 2010.
Another important issue involving the funding by the Venture Capitalists is the Risk Capital in the
Nano biotech sector. According to CVCA (Canada s Venture Capital and Private Equity
Association), the worldwide risk investment in Canada dropped by 22% to $380 million in 2012,
although overall investment remained stable at $1.5 billion in 2011. Thus, Canadian research
based Nano biotech firms are often the target of foreign buyers as risk capital in Canada is lower
than United States. Alberta is seen as the ideal destination for funding by the Venture Capitalists.
Large Companies
A big challenge faced by the multi nationals in the Nano biotech sector is to keep the innovation
alive. According to Dr. Maine, the radical innovations happens mostly at the smaller companies.
The big companies, although profitable, lacks diversity and flexibility in their research focus
because of the stakeholders and Investors demands. However, innovations can occur at the big
companies

200 Meter Dashes Essay
At the end of my rainbow is winning all the 100 and 200 meter dashes this track season. Last year I
won all of my 100 meter dashes. I won a couple 200 s. The first time I ran the 200 I got 5th. By the
end of the year I had dropped off four seconds. Now I want to win both of them at every single
meet. I will reach the end of the rainbow by working hard every single day. I will go to practice and
push myself. I will train outside of practice and before the season starts. I will keep my grades up
so I can go to all the practices and meets. I may have some setbacks on my journey to the end of
the rainbow. When the temperature is cold I do not breathe well. That will make it hard to train
before the season starts. I will get tired of going hard every day at practice. I will just have to
remember what is at the end of the rainbow.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In track you can participate in four events. My other two events will hurt because I won t be able
to spend as much time on them in practice. Some other events will help me because they have
running in them. The long jump will hurt the most because I won t be able to work on my form
very often. This sounds like I m the only one this is helping but it s not. If I win both the 100 and
200 meter dash that is 20 points at the meet. Running those two races will help me in the third
events because it is running also. I might get first in that event. That would be thirty points. Those
points will go to the team at the meets. It will help us win meets. My pot of gold is benefiting my

Cahokia Civilization
Cahokia is an ancient city established around c. 700 1500. It was a city built along the entire
Mississippi River. It was a major city with 20,000 30,000 people and was a major trade center. It
had a social structure set up by royalty, a Theocracy. Mesa Verde on the other hand was inhabited
by the Anasazi in c.1100 1300. It was built mostly under cliffs and housed thousands. They were
both similar in the time periods they inhabited and both had over thousands of people. Both planted
corn but the Anasazi planted the three sister crops together while the people of Cahokia main crop
was corn. Both societies had taken notice of the ancient supernova of 1054. This let scientist know
that both civilizationinhabited around such period. Also, showed... Show more content on

This decsion to be built in the cliffs was theorized to protect them from other enemy tribes and
attacks from such tribes. The people of Cahokia believed in a cult like religion, it linked the
church and state together. While the Anasazi believed in working together and that each person
should have a role that they played out. A sense of a community compared to the people of
Cahokia. The people of Cahokia introduced a ball game named chunkey and would eventually be
replaced by stickball. The people of Cahokia dispersed to all direction and descendants scattered
all over the continent. This was largely due to over exhaustion of the soil which lead to no crops
being able to grow. Also, flooding was caused by areas of timber being cleared out and could
have affected housing and crops as well. Lastly, long periods of deadly warfare were a major
factor in the downfall of Cahokia. The ancient city of Mesa Verde downfall was mostly attributed
to the over exhaustion of soil and lack of rainfall. This later lead to a drought and made the people
conform to small groups to survive. Like the people of Cahokia, the people of Mesa Verde never
fully vanished but spread throughout the

The Rabbits-Deconstruction of Visual Essay
John Marsden s and Shaun Tan s epic picture book, The Rabbits , is an allegorical fable about
colonisation, told from the perspective of the natives. An unseen narrator describes the coming of
rabbits in the most minimal detail, an encounter that is at first friendly and curious, but later
darkens as it becomes apparent that the visitors are actually invaders. My chosen image (above),
embodies the overall style of the book which is deliberately sparse and strange. Both text and image
conveys an overall sense of bewilderment and anxiety as native numbat like creatures witness the
environmental devastation under the wheels of a strange new culture, represented by the rabbits.
The image projects a painting of a striking sunset and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This metaphorically suggests that the rabbits have already begun to construct their homes, and now
nobody can stop them. Their forceful invasion into the native indigenous landscape is further
emphasised by the dead lizard featured in the foreground, which has been brutally squashed with
seemingly no remorse. Furthermore, the buildings in the background are entirely formed by
jigsaw pieces. Thus Tan presents us with a visual allegory of the rabbit society as manipulative and
un relentless nature. The small strip across the top of the visual, presents us with an alternate world
that is natural and heaven like where numbat like creatures are suspended upon tree branches. The
gaze of the numbat like creatures leads us to the quote, They didn t live in trees like we did .
Through the inclusion of text Tan portrays that the numbat like creatures don t understand the
rabbits. This quote does not show any strong emotions, but instead the blatant tone bestows a
clueless feeling to us, the responders. This section is very small in contrast to the rest of the image
showing the rabbits. This symbolically represents the unprecedented manner in which the rabbits
came and quickly made their own houses . At observing the picture more closely, we can conclude
that where the numbat like creatures are sitting, the sky is lighter compared to where the rabbits are
placed; implying that the lighter colour is the time the numbat like creatures were familiar

  • 4. Personification In Tale Of Two Cities A Tale of Two Cities, by Charles Dickens, narrates the frustrations of the common people toward Foulon, a French magistrate. The people rejoice when Foulon is imprisoned since he treated them awfully. The nature of the French Revolution is the common people s elation at the downfall of the aristocracy. Dickens utilizes personification, motif, and symbolism to describe the relationship between the common people and Foulon. The neighborhood of the common people, Saint Antoine, is personified to show the universal feelings of rage the peasants feel toward the aristocracy. In the beginning, Saint Antoine is portrayed as just a physical place, but when Foulon is mentioned, it assumes the characteristics of a man. Foulon is an indifferent, awful man, who stood by and watched the commoners suffer, and mocked them by saying they should, eat grass. By personifying an entire neighborhood, Dickens illustrates how Foulon outraged the whole population, not just a fraction of the people. Every commoner has a personal vendetta and anger for the French nobility, and thus Saint Antoine is portrayed as one entity. The peasants hold an intense rage toward Foulon, who would make all of their lives insufferable. Foulon is not just attacked by a few commoners, he is attacked by the single entity of Saint Antoine. Grass serves as a powerful motif that reflects the vengeance of the peasants. The French aristocrat Foulon told the starving people they might eat grass. He has no regard for the ... • 5. History Of Fabric And Textiles Textile Development During... The history of fabric and textiles Textile development during the Industrial Revolution (1780 1850) In 1968, Eric Hobsbawm said: Whoever says Industrial Revolution says cotton. Among many historians the Industrial Revolution is considered as the process in which technological changes led by the mechanized factories of the cotton industry created large profits for innovators that continued in succeeding decades. It was the key event in the emergence of modern economic growth, which led to shifting manufacturing from people s houses and shops to factories. It was a time of vivid change, from hand tools and handmade items, to the products which were produced by machines. Nevertheless, life improved, the industrial revolution had some harmful consequences, such as increased pollution, harmful working conditions, employment of women and children, who were made to work long and hard hours, etc. The shift to factories in the United States grew out of a process that began in the British textile industry. British inventors developed machines to do tasks that have been done by hand. Sometimes the machines replaced other, older and weaker machines. For example the spinning jenny, which was run by water power, replaced the spinning wheel; the power loom replaced the hand loom. These machines were small enough to be placed in the cottages. But later, people invented bigger and more powerful machines, which needed a huge space to be positioned. This was the reason why people started to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although the focal point of Their Eyes Were Watching God correlates with Janie s relationship with her three husbands and other people. It is the main and primary idea of Janie s search for divine clarification and a strong sense of her own identity. Janie is alone as seen in the beginning and the ending of the story. As Janie begins to find her own voice, she propels through social subtleties in order for her to express herself. On the surface it may appear that Teacake is able to provide Janie with a better place in a more authentic, less money driven world than Joe Starks, offering her an open, giving form of love and treating her as an equal (Newman, Oct., 2003). Janie embellishes her relationship with Tea Cake, as he teaches her the maiden language all over. Having lived under Joe, Janie is cautious when she first meets Tea Cake (Shmoop Editorial Team). • 7. Analysis Of Toni Bambara s The Lesson And Medea The general goal of most authors is to seize and maintain the reader s attention for the purpose of entertainment, but some authors seek to extend past the realm of entertainment. These authors grasp the reader s attention for the purpose of addressing social and societal problems. Thus, the reader finishes the literary work with a newfound insight or a broadened perspective of the world as a whole. This tactic of social commentary is successfully deployed in Toni Bambara s The Lesson and Euripedes Medea. In these two literary works, both authors address key societal issues of the time periods in which the literary works were written. In Medea, Euripedes addresses the discrepancy between the acceptable behaviors of men and women in ancient Greece. Likewise, Toni Bambara uses the plot of The Lesson to teach the reader a lesson about the economic inequality in the United Statesof America. Although The Lesson was based on life in Harlem throughout the 1960 s and Medea was based on life in ancient Greece, both offerings of social commentary remain applicable even throughout present times. In Medea, Euripedes tells a story of a woman whose husband has recently decided to marry another woman. As any woman would be, Medea is saddened and hurt by her husband Jason s decision. Unfortunately, Medea s sadness turns to anger, which drives her ruthless actions throughout the remainder of the story. Medea s anger causes her to seek revenge against her husband. • 8. The Definition of Organic Foods Should Be Redefined Essay Organic versus non organic foods are always being debated to whether they are worth the extra cost. This seems to be an easy question, at first, but begs a more in depth analysis to come to a conclusion. Organic definitions can vary by government, company and even individuals. Many people have their own ideas of what organic means. My personal definition, before this research assignment, was that organic products were grown with no pesticides, chemical additives, or preservatives and grown in a humane way. Meaning that if it said 100% organic, that is what was meant. This however, is not the case when it comes to the government s definition of organic, according to T. A. In the case of the meat we eat, how do we know that it is truly organic (hence the necessity for a more strict definition), and why do we even need it to be? There are several reasons for us to eat organic meat, depending on what the definition ultimately ends up being. One reason to eat organic meat is the fact of the spread of Bovine spongiform encephalopathy or what is more commonly known as Mad Cow Disease. There is a human form of this disease called New Variant Creutzfeldt Jakob disease (NCJD). This disease was first brought to light in the 1990 s in Europe by the discovery of link between these two diseases (Freudenrich, 3). If one had lived in Europe in the early 90 s, for at least six months, (as my family and I did) they may have been exposed to this disease. In the past, cows (who are naturally herbivores) were fed remnants of dead and dying sheep. Sheep that possibly had the disease called, Scrapie which is similar to BSE, and could explain the reason for the infection to have started in cows, eventually jumping to humans (Freudenrich, 6). The figures in each subsection occupies most of the frame , with each figure s head nearing the top of the low hanging ceiling . This height leads to non idyllic proportions throughout the piece, with some people standing only 5 heads tall and with heads thicker than their torsos. This disproportion leads to the belief that human anatomy was not the priority of the sculptor, but rather the narrative of the overall piece, with no individual subsection dominating the composition. The first subsection in the top left shows a bearded man and his right hand outstretched to the left side of the canvas, with his other hand hovering over a kneeling child, with another man standing behind him and some small animal, possibly a lamb, standing beneath the outstretched hand. According to Stokstad, this may be a depiction of the Binding of Isaac, in which Abraham passes the test of faith and willingly goes to sacrifice his firstborn son, Isaac, before divine intervention gives him a lamb as a replacement (Stokstad 168). This conclusion is consistent with the depiction, allowing the viewer to conclude that the outstretched hand is likely holding a knife and the figure present in the background is an angel, delivering the lamb in tribute. The Color Purple is one of those many books that have been removed from school libraries for multiple reasons. When the Fraser Institute called me last year, they rang up and said they were having a conference and we would like to invite you, and I thought I think you have the wrong person. Basically, everybody else there, except myself and one person from Nova Scotia, were in favour of privatization and very strongly in favour of it, especially with respect to prisons. Even my own work, I might add, privatization is more or less a tangent for me as I do other areas of research. I think it is indication that very few people in Canada, criminologists, are systematically focussing on this but I keep getting roped back into this. I just wish I had three lives at once so that I could pursue it the way I really want to. Privatization is an area that really needs attention, and lets hope that students here at St. Thomas are going to take this up. Let me just mention one or two topics that need attention. Many people talk about privatization in criminal justice, including myself, mention that it is likely that private companies will try and influence criminal justice policy in various places. Yet when you look for the empirical support for this there is very little factual information there. Or we talk a bit about the decline of the military in industrial conflicts, the end of the Cold War, and new markets opening up for these companies internationally and we see some of the companies moving from the United States into Britain, Australia and now also Canada, and we hear things about them moving into Latin American countries and East European countries, but again this international dimension is one that there has been very little systematic research on. Flynas would have to make very little changes to its fleet to accommodate postal services as most planes are already designed to carry a lot of cargo for the passengers. Decreasing cargo charges while gaining contracts from postal services would also facilitate Flynas in achieving its goals. The airline industry market is not a saturated one. There are very little airlines that provide the same service that Flynas provides. Therefore, he decided to confuse all the languages of the people, creating many different languages. Along with a common language, the ancient Greeks had a common alphabet. There were two main forms of the alphabet, but they only had slight differences like the dialect of the Greeks. Dalrymple s real name being Anthony Daniels, he picked up the pseudonym of Theodore Dalrymple for the purpose of his essays. There were times when virginity was a pride to men and women. However, it still prevails in some countries, this custom and the people have been changing. He states that the world is now free to enjoy sexual pleasures without any fear of the myths and taboos that existed in history. Although people feel that they are satisfied and are free to choose this path of life, sex has lead people into confusion, contradiction, and conflict states Dalrymple (Dalrymple 1). He thinks that twelve year girls would be in the streets at night, as prostitutes, where police would be guarding them and health authorities would come by to distribute condoms to prevent any infections. Then, the common people would be given instruments to get rid of the condoms in their backyard and gardens. The reason behind this is that morals are dying; over the years, people have become non judgmental. • 42. The Denver Center For Performing Arts The production A Christmas Carol was performed at the Denver Center for Performing Arts located in Denver, Colorado. I had the pleasure to attend the show on December 14th in the Stage Theater and I was captivated. This show captured the essence of a theatrical production. To avoid false impressions, the production I saw was performed in 2013. This is a foretaste for those thinking about attending the future performance in 2016; especially those who desire the theater experience. The Denver Center for Performing Arts has an exceptional reputation. The theater complex is coined the second largest performing arts center compared to Broadway. Their qualitative productions can attest to this and A ChristmasCarol is no exception. A Christmas Carolwas originally a novel written by Charles Dickens and has been adapted into numerous renditions. The Denver Center for Performing Arts has audiences experience the story in a different way, through the art of theater. Director Bruce K. Sevy, playwright adaptor Richard Hellesen and composer David de Berry captured the nature of the classic story and made it into a family friendly production perfect for the holiday season. Having knowledge and involvement in both the acting and the technical aspects of theater, I expected the production to deliver a qualitative performance that gave its audience the full experience. This experience is achieved by the elements of theater such as acting, lights, sounds, props, costume and set design ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Challenges Faced By Companies Of The Bionanotechnology... There are many challenges faced by companies in the Bionanotechnology sector depending on their size. Small companies According to Dr. Elicia Maine, an Associate Professor at the SFU s Beedie School of Business, most of the Bionanotechnology research in Canada takes place at the University level. The researchers at the University level look for the labs in their own University only that have industrial participation. So, many of the Nano biotech researches for the startups remain at the University level and therefore lag behind on new research due to scarcity of funds. Further, the researchers at the startups have to work for long hours and get little time to read the journals related to their research and keep themselves updated about the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dr. Maine suggested that Nano biotech companies should divide their research into different branches or even different companies, so that they can maintain diversity while accepting the Venture Capitalists demands. An important example of such a company is Nanogram Corporation, which directed its research into different areas including medical devices, consumer electronics and solar energy. The research at Nanogram was purchased by a Japanese company Teijin Ltd. In the year 2010. Another important issue involving the funding by the Venture Capitalists is the Risk Capital in the Nano biotech sector. According to CVCA (Canada s Venture Capital and Private Equity Association), the worldwide risk investment in Canada dropped by 22% to $380 million in 2012, although overall investment remained stable at $1.5 billion in 2011. Thus, Canadian research based Nano biotech firms are often the target of foreign buyers as risk capital in Canada is lower than United States. Alberta is seen as the ideal destination for funding by the Venture Capitalists. Large Companies A big challenge faced by the multi nationals in the Nano biotech sector is to keep the innovation alive. According to Dr. Maine, the radical innovations happens mostly at the smaller companies. The big companies, although profitable, lacks diversity and flexibility in their research focus because of the stakeholders and Investors demands. However, innovations can occur at the big companies ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. 200 Meter Dashes Essay At the end of my rainbow is winning all the 100 and 200 meter dashes this track season. Last year I won all of my 100 meter dashes. I won a couple 200 s. The first time I ran the 200 I got 5th. By the end of the year I had dropped off four seconds. Now I want to win both of them at every single meet. I will reach the end of the rainbow by working hard every single day. I will go to practice and push myself. I will train outside of practice and before the season starts. I will keep my grades up so I can go to all the practices and meets. I may have some setbacks on my journey to the end of the rainbow. When the temperature is cold I do not breathe well. That will make it hard to train before the season starts. I will get tired of going hard every day at practice. I will just have to remember what is at the end of the rainbow.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In track you can participate in four events. My other two events will hurt because I won t be able to spend as much time on them in practice. Some other events will help me because they have running in them. The long jump will hurt the most because I won t be able to work on my form very often. This sounds like I m the only one this is helping but it s not. If I win both the 100 and 200 meter dash that is 20 points at the meet. Running those two races will help me in the third events because it is running also. I might get first in that event. That would be thirty points. Those points will go to the team at the meets. It will help us win meets. My pot of gold is benefiting my track ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Cahokia Civilization Cahokia is an ancient city established around c. 700 1500. It was a city built along the entire Mississippi River. It was a major city with 20,000 30,000 people and was a major trade center. It had a social structure set up by royalty, a Theocracy. Mesa Verde on the other hand was inhabited by the Anasazi in c.1100 1300. It was built mostly under cliffs and housed thousands. They were both similar in the time periods they inhabited and both had over thousands of people. Both planted corn but the Anasazi planted the three sister crops together while the people of Cahokia main crop was corn. Both societies had taken notice of the ancient supernova of 1054. The people of Cahokia introduced a ball game named chunkey and would eventually be replaced by stickball. The people of Cahokia dispersed to all direction and descendants scattered all over the continent. This was largely due to over exhaustion of the soil which lead to no crops being able to grow. Also, flooding was caused by areas of timber being cleared out and could have affected housing and crops as well. Lastly, long periods of deadly warfare were a major factor in the downfall of Cahokia. The ancient city of Mesa Verde downfall was mostly attributed to the over exhaustion of soil and lack of rainfall. This later lead to a drought and made the people conform to small groups to survive. • 46. The Rabbits-Deconstruction of Visual Essay John Marsden s and Shaun Tan s epic picture book, The Rabbits , is an allegorical fable about colonisation, told from the perspective of the natives. An unseen narrator describes the coming of rabbits in the most minimal detail, an encounter that is at first friendly and curious, but later darkens as it becomes apparent that the visitors are actually invaders. My chosen image (above), embodies the overall style of the book which is deliberately sparse and strange. Both text and image conveys an overall sense of bewilderment and anxiety as native numbat like creatures witness the environmental devastation under the wheels of a strange new culture, represented by the rabbits. The image projects a painting of a striking sunset and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This metaphorically suggests that the rabbits have already begun to construct their homes, and now nobody can stop them. Their forceful invasion into the native indigenous landscape is further emphasised by the dead lizard featured in the foreground, which has been brutally squashed with seemingly no remorse. Furthermore, the buildings in the background are entirely formed by jigsaw pieces. Thus Tan presents us with a visual allegory of the rabbit society as manipulative and un relentless nature. The small strip across the top of the visual, presents us with an alternate world that is natural and heaven like where numbat like creatures are suspended upon tree branches. The gaze of the numbat like creatures leads us to the quote, They didn t live in trees like we did . Through the inclusion of text Tan portrays that the numbat like creatures don t understand the rabbits. This quote does not show any strong emotions, but instead the blatant tone bestows a clueless feeling to us, the responders. This section is very small in contrast to the rest of the image showing the rabbits. This symbolically represents the unprecedented manner in which the rabbits came and quickly made their own houses . At observing the picture more closely, we can conclude that where the numbat like creatures are sitting, the sky is lighter compared to where the rabbits are placed; implying that the lighter colour is the time the numbat like creatures were familiar ...
