Informative Speech Over LS Engine
My informative speech over LS engines went very well. I think that overall things went well
especially the transitions between my points. I chose to do a speech on LS engines because my
grandpas pickup had an LS 6.0. Something that went well in my speech was eye contact and volume
of my speech. I felt relieved when I finished because I do not like speaking in front of people,
especially for a class. My LS was probably the best engine that I ve ever owned. My grandpa
purchased the Silverado with about 80k miles from a good friend and neighbor, Lyle Ernst. The
pickup is a regular cab long box, and currently has 168,000 miles on it. It has a newer GM
Remanufactured 4l80E transmission, and a new fuel pump and sending unit because the gas gauge ...

I also put on GM Tow Mirrors, which look sweet. The intake manifold gaskets that came with the LS
6.0 Vortec engine are junk, so I replaced them with the help of Richard Brennan, the head mechanic at
Sinclair. Michael Dekker and I went through the process of installing Light Pods in the fog light holes
in my front bumper. Since the Silverado is a work truck package, it doesn t have fog lights, power
windows, power locks, or comfort amenities like that. It s a work truck, and I put in Sylvania
Silverstar Ultra headlight bulbs, but I wanted more light. Michael and I went to Advance Auto Parts in
Sioux Center and I got LED Light pods. We drilled out the brackets on the pods and flipped the upside
down, affixing them to the body mount behind the fog light holes. Michael looped power from the
fuse block under the hood into the cab, and ran a return back out. I mounted the pods and then wired
the right side to the left side. Michael took power and ran it to the cab, and we tied the pods into a
toggle switch which we hid in a cubby hole in the dash, so it doesn t look like redneck butchery. If you
don t have time to do the project right, then there is no sense in starting it/working on

Corruption In Central America
Corruption is a dishonest behavior by people in power. It s a problem that a lot of countries face and
that the citizens don t take into account. It has become such a big problem around the world that
people don t fight against it; they just learn how to live with it. Personally, I didn t care much about
corruption because I felt I couldn t do anything to fight against it. But in 2015 my views about
corruption changed, I now believe that the only ones able to fight against corruption are the citizens.
My home, Guatemala got into a corruption scandal and it s currently fighting to win this fight.
Guatemala is a small country in Central America, which is often underestimated for its high rate of
violence and poverty. People tend to overlook the good in it, they don t talk about its breathtaking

In April 2015, the citizens got the news about their President Perez Molina and Vice President Baldetti
being involved with a crime called La Linea that is described as a sophisticated smuggling network in
the country s customs. It was a network that operated in the country s costume offering the importers a
lower tax rate for the products they wanted to import; La Linea was a telephone number where the
importers had to call to get their priced lowered. When the citizens heard the news they decided to act
and protect their country, they created a revolution. The young drove the revolution; they created
events in social networks asking the rest of the citizens to join them in peaceful protests demanding
for justice. The organizers were afraid no one was going to show up because the citizens were afraid
the protest would become violent. After the first few protests passed peacefully, the fear disappeared
and more and more citizens joined

Becoming A Plumber In Canada
In Canada, plumbers provide an essential service to businesses and residents. They provide such
services as plumbing maintenance inspections, emergency services, installing plumbing systems in
homes and businesses, and performing a wide range of repairs for all parts of the plumbing system,
including the septic system and drain field. Even when the economy is struggling, plumbers are
always in great demand. A career as a plumber is very profitable and requires education from an
accredited school as well as special training.
In Canada, the rules and regulations regarding becoming a plumber can vary among the provinces. For
that reason it is important to find out the mandated requirements to become a plumber in the province
in which you reside. Generally speaking, the following outlines how to become a licensed plumber in

Dentist Application Essay
As a second time applicant, I have gained experience working in both general dentistry and in
specialty dental practices. Working part time alongside a general dentist gave me the opportunity to do
dental charting, prepare instruments, and provide instructions and advice on brushing and flossing
techniques to patients. I have since developed a habit of taking detailed notes and drawings of the
surgery in my own journal to reinforce my learning. At the office, I noticed that a lot of patients walk
into the office with pain that even interrupts their daily lives. In many of the cases, the handiwork of a
dentist provided the patients immediate help by relieving them from pain. My observations and
experiences working in a dental office have taught me these rewarding moments, which have
solidified my goal to become a dentist.
Furthermore, I explored many specialty practices, such as oral surgery, periodontics, and endodontics,
which allowed me to observe many different courses of treatment. Luckily, this shadowing
opportunity opened the door to a position working at Berkeley Orinda Oral Surgery. Because this was
an office with four oral surgeons and more than 25 staff members and surgical assistants, ... Show

Explain Why Is It Better To Grow Up In A Small Town
Why it s better to grow up in a small town
I believe that it is better for people to live in smaller towns rather than big cities. Bigcits are always so
cluserd and are really dirty. Small towns are spread out from each other and you can have a lot of land
to have fun as a kid. In big cities you can t have a lot of fun because you re so close to everyone else
and they could get mad and call the police on you. But when you live in a small town you can make
all the noise you want if you live out in the country.
There is an abundance of reasons to live in a small town, and more and more people are moving out of
the city to the countryside saying that their reasons to live in a small town started with wanting a
slower pace of life, or a better

Hawthorne s Young Goodman Brown – Poverty in the Tale...
Young Goodman Brown Poverty in the Tale and Author s Life
Roy Harvey Pearce in Twice Told Tales: A Blend of Stories makes reference to the widely known
poverty of the aspiring writer,Nathaniel Hawthorne: True enough, Hawthorne planned more than once
to write groups of tales and sketches somehow linked into a whole; but he could not get a publisher for
them. When he did get a publisher in 1837, it had to be through the help of the hack editor, Samuel
Goodrich. . . . (107) Nathaniel Hawthorne s Young Goodman Brown includes traits of the modest
lifestyle which the author was forced to endure in his personal life. Besides this, there was also an

At the end of this time, a brief, unfruitful experience at Brook Farm was followed by marriage to
Sophia in 1842: After a three year engagement, Hawthorne lost patience waiting to marry Sophia until
he had more money (20).
Between 1838 and 1845, Hawthorne published 22 stories in the Democratic Review, which paid him
between three and five dollars per page. Henry James in his biography Hawthorne from 1879 testifies
in eloquent fashion to the state of Hawthorne s finances:
It strikes the observer of to day that Hawthorne showed great courage in entering a field in which the
honours and emoluments were so scanty
as the profits of authorship must have been at that time. . . Hawthorne
never, I believe, made large sums of money by his writings, and the early profits of these charming
sketches could not have been considerable; for many of them, indeed, as they appeared in journals and
magazines, he had never been paid at all. . . .(chap. 2)
Grandfather s Chair (1841), a children s book of New England history through the Revolutionary War,
sold a million copies, but Hawthorne received only a hundred dollars for the mansucript he wrote.
Again he needed to supplement his writing income. In 1846, President Polk signed Hawthorne s
appointment to the customhouse at Salem with a salary of $1200 a year (Swisher 21).

The Evolution of Minorities in Film Essay
The Evolution of Minorities in Film
Back in the 1800 s, when calculating the population, African Americans were counted as 3/5 of a
person (Antonia, p2). One would think that in the past two hundred years people s beliefs would have
changed a little bit, but the general white public are stuck into believing the common stereotypes
commonly portrayed in movies. In films and television shows blacks are almost always portrayed as
murderers, robbers, rapists, pretty much anything negative, like American History X, for example.
Two black men are shown breaking into a white man s car. People see this, and in turn believe that all
black men will try and steal their car; as stupid as it may seem, it is true, and as a result, film ... Show

White people might not take it very well and possibly get the impression that minorities will never
amount to anything, nor be a large portion of the population. In the late 1970 s, the hit movie Roots
took the country by storm serving as an icebreaker for minorities getting into the movie industry. It
showed the world that a movie consisting of all black actors could still be a very popular movie. Even
though it revolved around the concept of slavery, once Roots came out, minorities started to show up
more and more in films. In the years to come, this trend would become more and more of a standard in
America s mainstream culture. In the late 1980 s a film entitled Lethal Weapon came out. In this
movie, a black man is shown having the family and being the successful one, while Mel Gibson, the
white man, plays the role of the suicidal lunatic after the death of his new wife. This movie was one of
the first few movies where this kind of thing was going on. Just for laughs, the two would make fun of
each other and make somewhat racist assumptions about each other. But in the end of the movie they
end up becoming best friends. Lethal Weapon served as a good movie to unlock the door to the
minority/white costar door with due to the way in which it does it in a fun way where the viewer
doesn t even realize that the two were of a different race.

Gun Control Mechanism
Introduction
In America, one of the major challenges for security agencies is to have Gun control. Several innocent
people s lives have been taken by this weapon and led to great moaning in the U.S. Likewise, different
people have been left immobilized due to increase gun violence crime. In the United States, these
types of challenge are arising because of issuing providing possession of unlicensed guns. For the aim
of reducing crime rates due to gun, governments must make strict balance on gun distribution, as well
as illegalize its ownership without any exception to any conditions (DeConde, 2003).
Therefore, gun violence is explained as the utilization of firearms to produce harm. Moreover, this
term signifies the general guns misuse, so broadly, it can be described as a violence and crime class
committed with the help of firearms which might not cover self defense actions, practices for law
enforcement, sports along with hunting others (DeConde, 2003).
Further includes careful use of weapons to murder, produce injury or threaten people. Among children
and adolescents, it is common who wind up providing trouble to them along with the public. The
positioning of this paper is Gun control.
Mechanisms for Implementing Gun Control
Many ways are now available for the implementation of the gun control. Getting it from the legislation
and experience of U.K, gun control must be the only government duty in addition to private security
organizations. In the U.S., it is

The Role Of The Direct Effect And State Liability
The given scenario involves a women name Suvi, a Finnish national who wants to work in UK as a
self employer offering her services as a Zoo technologist to the zoos in UK. In order to achieve that
she must be registered with National Authority of Zoo The problem with her situation is the that her
application for registration has been rejected based on two reasons, (1) she must obtain a qualification
in respective field from UK in line with 2014 UK Act and (2) she must obtain insurance in accordance
with EU Directive 2010/5.
The main issue for Suvi to concern with is the enforcement of EU law and the application of the
Direct effect and possible following of Indirect effect and State Liability. The Direct Effect is a term

And to do that she must full fill the criteria of Van Gend en Loos [5] i.e (1) Be clear and precise (2) Be
unconditional and (3) Not dependent on further actions by EU institutions or by Member state .[6]
For Suvi s first reason of rejection of application of registration with NAZ, Under the Regulation EU
12/2012 of the EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND COUNCIL on the right of free of movement for
zoo technologisist 1 APRIL 2012. ART 1, ART 3 and ART 7 satisfies the Van Gen en loos test s first
and second condition because ART 1 and ART 3 of the regulation Gives right s to Suvi to work in UK
to as a self employed zoo technologist .she is a Finnish national, EU MS citizen, thus she can work in
any other MS and she is entitled to be registered with National Authority of Zoos (NAZ) the
regulation should have been applied by UK by December 2012 and by the facts given it it indicates
that UK government did not do the transposition properly therefore it will be safe to say that the time
of transpose has passed thus satisfying second condition and EU regulation can be enforced like the
case of Pubblico Ministero v Rotti 148/78 [7] principle where the date of implementation has passed
and the directive have not been implemented or implemented properly.
Even though the EU Regulation, under ART 288,EU law is directly applicable in host country, these
three Articles full fill the first two conditions of the criteria i.e. Be clear and precise, Be unconditional.

Sleep Deprivation Is A Common Problem
Intricate human bodies are much like carefully crafted machines. Each function has a purpose, and
each need has a particular function. And, much like a machine, bodies can replenish their power,
repair themselves, and fail and break down. One particular necessity for human bodies is sleep, and if
not acquired, numerous complications can emerge. Sleep deprivation is a common problem that is all
too often overlooked as a mere loss of a night s rest. What most people do not realize is the potential
problems sleep deprivation can cause. From undesired grouchiness and uninhibited yawns, to constant
illness and a failing mental state, sleep deprivation is condition that is nothing to be taken lightly. In
fact, it can cause an otherwise healthy person to slowly shut down and break, just as a machine does
without power. Sleep deprivation is simply the state of not having enough sleep. It can affect anybody,
and has become an ever increasing peril in today s world. Consequently, according to the National
Sleep Foundation s inaugural Sleep Health Index™, as of December, 2014, Forty five percent of
Americans say that poor or insufficient sleep affected their daily activities at least once in the past
seven days, To fully understand Sleep deprivation though, the knowledge of the process of sleeping
must be obtained. Sleep is a crucial component of every human s regime. Not only does the process of
sleep provide essential benefits to the human body, as does the actual

Analysis Of Nick Carraway In The Great Gatsby
In the novel The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald Nick Carraway, at first seems like a big and
important part of the novel but once we meet Jay Gatsby that changes. Nick takes a back seat to be the
narrator for Gatsby s story. As a narrator Nick is the most effective choice for The Great Gatsby. This
is proven by his willingness to withhold judgment. his relationship to each of the main characters.his
outsider status and perceptiveness. In my younger and more vulnerable, years my father gave me some
advice that I ve been turning over in my mind ever since. Whenever you feel like criticizing anyone,

While Nick is in the apartment with Tom, at the same time he imagines himself standing on the street
looking at the apartment above in wonder as to what it is like to be involved in one of those parties.
Even though he is now inside one of the parties that others may dream about, Nick still feels as if he is
not really one of them. He feels like this throughout the novel, he has rich friends and he goes to
luxurious parties but he never feels like he belongs and he is never treated like he belongs. This
outsider status helps him be a great narrator because it helps him give the reader the insider experience
but also helps keep their distance and not get too attached to that world. If Nick were an insider the
reader would not be shown a fair view of Gatsby s story. The reader would only see the East Egg side
and never explore the West Egg side of life. Having Nick as both within and without gives the
advantage of introducing the reader to certain aspects of New York s elite world, while also being
shocked and skeptical of them as an outsider would

Everyday we are hearing more and more about a child or teen that has committed some horrible act.
On Tuesday April 27, 2004 a twelve year old Georgia boy was arrested for allegedly using his hands
to strangle a third grader who disappeared while riding her bicycle (McLaughlin, 2004). In February, a
twelve year old girl was beaten to unconsciousness by a group of adolescents and young adults while
at a birthday party in Baltimore. The question we must ask ourselves is where are the parents? Sadly,
in the case of the Baltimore girl, one of the young adults was the parent of one of the children. How do
children learn that violent and socially deviant behavior is acceptable? Both of these scenarios ...

The belief that the family structure and parenting practices have morally declined can be traced back
to the early 1940 s in America. In an interview with C. Moran, LCSW C (personal communication,
April 8, 2004), she described a time where families lived very close to, if not on the same street as
their extended family. Aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents would all participate in the raising of
the children, it takes a village to raise a child (C Moran, April 8, 2004). In some cases, the
grandparents would teach the parents how to parent. As time moved on into the freeness of the 1960 s
and 1970 s, parenting became more passive. Children at a young age were allowed to make decisions
that ten years ago would have been made by their parents. The belief was to allow the child to make
their own mistakes and they would receive the repercussions from society. As a result, more freedom
of choice would be given to the child. Now, with the children of the sixties and seventies having
offspring of their own, the millennial generation , and extended families spread out globally, active
and involved parenting is becoming a thing of the past.
Recent research has found that time spent by the parent in home with the child has steadily declined.

Symbolism in The Chrysanthemums by John Steinbeck Essay
Symbolism in The Chrysanthemums by John Steinbeck
The Chrysanthemums , one of John Steinbeck s masterpieces, describes a lonely farmer s wife, Elisa
Allen. Elisa Allen s physical appearance is very mannish yet still allows a hint of a feminine side to
peek through. John Steinbeck brings symbolism into play to represent Elisa Allen s frustrations and
hidden passions. Isolation is another representation through symbolism found in The
Chrysanthemums. Elisa s failing detached marriage is represented through two symbols. The two
reoccurring symbols are the chrysanthemums and fences. John Steinbeck draws pity from the reader

wants to be a women yet long for the adventure a man s life contains. Clothing was not the only
symbol of repression in John Steinbeck s The Chrysanthemums. There are many symbolic references
to Elisa Allen as a sexually repressed and frustrated woman. One representation of the chrysanthemum
is Elisa s passion and eagerness to live and experience life a content woman. While tending her
chrysanthemums she pulled out the crisp little roots and trimmed of the leaves of each one with her

Metal Bats in Major League Baseball
Metal Bats in Major League Baseball Since the inception of the first Major League Baseball (MLB)
game, played on May 4, 1871, bats made of wood have been the tradition in baseball. The creation of
metal bats occurred in the 1920s, but not actually used in play until 1970 when they were introduced
into Little League youth baseball. Even though all levels of players from children to professionals
seemed to prefer the new metal bats, MLB prohibited their use. Safety, skill level of the players, cost,
level of entertainment provided, and tradition are all arguments used in the controversy between
whether Major League Baseball should allow metal bats or continue using wooden ones. The safety of
the players is the biggest concern in all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 2010, a man sued the New York Mets after being hit in the face by a broken bat leaving him with
multiple fractures (White). Because of the many injuries occurring from broken bats, MLB has made
an effort to make bats safer for everyone. Specific regulations created for bats used in today s games
have led to a steady drop in the number of broken bats (Roberts). As of 2013, the rate has lowered to
an average of 0.46 bats broken per game (White). The skill level needed to successfully hit off the
different materials remains another argument between metal versus wood bats. Metal bats have been
proven to require less skill to hit with because of their weight difference and the size of their sweet
spots compared to wooden bats. With most metal bats being made of aluminum, they weigh in much
lighter than bats made of solid wood. It is much easier for players to swing the aluminum bats due to
that fact ( Baseball: Wooden Bats Vs. Metal Bats ). The lighter weight allows players to swing faster,
which helps put more force on the ball, resulting in the ball flying farther and much faster. In a test
comparing wood bats to multiple types of metal bats, balls batted off wood bats obtained an average
speed of 98.6 mph, while balls hit with the different types of metal bats obtained speeds between
100.3 mph and 106.5 mph (Russell). These results show that the lighter weight of the metal bats, helps
drive the ball faster and farther and is not necessarily

Personal Narrative About Yosemite
When my dad first talked to me about Yosemite, he described it as the most epic place on earth. I
thought it would be pretty, but I never predicted how unreal it would actually be. My experience there
was one I can never fully put into words. It was liberating, refreshing, and calming. I felt like a light
inside of me had been lit again. When I was staring out at the valley, all my problems seemed to drift
away. Standing at the top of Glacier Point, I take in a panoramic view of my surroundings. Huge
bundles of tourists walk around, taking photos and gasping at the breathtaking view. I stand with my

piece of spicy jerky and crunchy apple. The food recharges my body, and I feel energy flood my body.
Once back on the trail, I drag myself up a set of switchbacks going up the steep rock face. The sun is
beating down at this point, and I wipe the sweat beading up on my forehead. I feel as if I have been
walking forever on the rocky path, small bushes, and plants around me when we finally reach the top.
The wind blows around me like a tornado, helping me. As we start the descend down, it feels as if it

falls, intrigued by how turbulent it is. Although the falls are fast and tremendous, they have a calming

John B. Watson s Little Albert Experiment
Little Albert The Little Albert experiment is seen as very unethical now, but in 1920 helped out
psychologist. It was run by John B. Watson and one of his students, Rosalie Rayner. At the John
Hopkins University, Watson and Rayner s goal was to condition certain phobias into a perfectly
normal child. Watson was testing Pavlov s theory on humans, not dogs. They chose a nine month old
baby who they called Albert, or Little Albert. Watson tested Albert with a white rat, a white rabbit, a
monkey, a variety of mask, and burning newspaper. This was the neutral stimulus because he showed
no fear when presented with these objects. Then he was placed on a mattress with a rat. When he
would touch the rat Watson would hit a piece of steel with a hammer. This was the unconditional
stimulus. Albert would roll over and cry, now in fear of the rat. He would later be placed on the
mattress with a rat again, and would try to crawl away as fast as possible. The rat was considered a ...

when Albert was a little over one year old he and his mother moved. Watson and Rayner were unable
to test their hypothesis on desensitizing little Albert. Still to this day it is unclear who Albert, was. In

This may be true, but Douglas suffered from hydrocephalus since birth, and died at six years old.
Documents from Watson s experiment say Albert was healthy. Then in 2014, two researchers claimed

and wealthy families, the Sons of Liberty achieved many things , their ideas were best expressed
through the rights they determined Americans had, what roles they each played in saving those rights
and how important they thought those rights were. They got together and formed in 1765, in Boston
right after the stamp act and that s originally where they got their name. They had another name that
they were also known as called the loyalist. They had quite an amount of members and they all were
helpful in some way. The men s who leaded this party were John Adams, Samuel Adams, and Paul

group out there. The Sons of liberty had publishers, writers and they had a very good start to be out
there and become known. They did keep their little organization alittle secret, just because they didn t
want anyone to find out, along the secret meetings they had, they had secret things they said to each

things to not actually reveal their stuff and ruin their plans.

ropes, there is a very good chance that you should concentrate on mutual funds for the bulk of your
investments. Mutual funds and their close cousin, exchange traded funds or ETF s, are a basket of
securities which enables you to make one purchase in a particular fund. This can give you instant
diversification and sometimes asset allocation. There are over 10,000 different mutual funds and
exchange traded funds. Some hold all stocks, some hold all bonds, some funds hold a mix of both
stocks and bonds and some are very specific in what securities they hold in their portfolio. Maybe they
don t have any stocks of companies that are involved in alcohol, firearms or tobacco as one example,
or maybe they are concentrated on precious metals or some other commodity. Something else to

Citizen Kane Opening Scene Analysis
This week movie was Citizen Kane by Orson Welles. In short, this movie shows the life of the
mysterious Charles Foster Kane (Orson Welles) and the misfortune he did. The audience doesn t really
know that much about him at the beginning with him. It s through the use of many flashbacks from his
many confidants that the audience gets a better understanding of him. As a result, the understanding is
that he was a lonely man with him losing everything ranging from his parents, his first wife, his
political reputation, his second life, and his life. Orson Welles elaborates this troubled person through
the use of many film terms that are bounded as a synthesis response. Some of these terms includes
flashbacks under the classification of story, high ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
High key is a style of lighting emphasizing bright and even illumination with few conspicuous
shadows. Used mostly in comedies, musicals, and light entertainment films. (Giannetti, 524). One
example of this can be seen with the same scene previously mentioned above where he hides behind
two people, the singer and his political opponents, where both of them tell his wife that Charles is
having an affair. Charles in a cloak of darkness both literally and figuratively is astounded of what he
is experiencing of the sudden dismissal of his wife and his political career. This use of high edge
photography is used to show the current worsening condition of Mr. Kane, but also foreshadows an
ominous future with other misgivings. The use of high key photography helps spell out the current
character of Mr. Kane and the future form of him with him losing everything. Citizen Kane by Orson
Welles uses the two predominant elements of flashbacks and high key to convey to the watcher the
troubled past of Mr.Kane and the characters that surround him. Flashbacks and high key are used
throughout the movie. An example of these two different terms was demonstrated when Mr.Kane
being oblivious to the situation of his marital problems. Overall, the use of flashbacks and high key
photography helps to show the struggles of Mr.Kane and his associates; without them the movie
becomes dry and

My Life s Up And Downs And The Decisions
As I look back at my life s up and downs and the decisions I ve made along the way, thing could have
gone for better or worse, hence the motto in the title. I can recall making small decisions on what I
should spend my time on, either play with my childhood friend s after school or review the homework
that I finished in class? Playtime almost won every time. Even though I knew that reviewing some of
my homework could only help me, even with the good grades I was already making, the decision was
made that I wanted to play more than study. At an early age I began to finish my homework
beforehand so I could spend more time out playing with my friends and eventually I formed a comfort
zone that showed consistency and balance between my grades and studying habits; I studied zilch yet
received high grades that included many A s on tests. As time went on the same process continued and
I was still able to remain on track and keep my high grades throughout middle and high school. The
following years really struck me as a surprise when I entered my first college year and first set of
assignments. Considering my standard work load of finishing my homework at school was completely
halted due to the mere fact that class lasted a lot longer but with no time to finish the homework
assignment before leaving class yet even take a look at it. Everything was starting to get restructured
and my norm was thrown out the window after a rough first semester. Throughout my life there s been

Elements Of The Oxides Of Silicon Dioxide
Period 3 oxides: Examples of period 3 oxides: Na2O, MgO, Al2O3, SiO2, P4O10 The examples of the
oxides shown above are the highest oxides . These oxides have the highest oxidation state. The
melting point and boiling point for period 3 oxides is usually very high. This is because a large
amount of energy is needed to break the covalent and ionic bonds in the period 3 oxides. Metallic
oxides which are Magnesium, Sodium and Aluminium contain metallic and oxides ions. These
therefore have a strong attraction between each other. This strong attraction means a large amount of
energy would be needed to break the bonds. This would therefore result in the melting and boiling

Non metal oxides SiO2, P4O10, SO2 Silicon oxide (SiO2) is the highest non metal element. This is
because it has very strong bonds that require a large amount of energy to be broken and also silicon
oxide forms a giant macromolecular structure. P4O10 and SO2 are both simple covalent molecules
that have van der Waals forces between them. Period 3 chlorides: The melting point and boiling point
for chlorides cannot be defined. This is because each chloride works in a different way. Examples of
chlorides are sodium chloride and magnesium chloride. Both these chlorides are solid at room
temperature and pressure and also have relatively high melting and boiling points. Sodium chloride
and magnesium chloride both have very strong ionic bonds between them and therefore a large
amount of energy is required to break the strong ionic bonds to cause them to melt or even boil. The
remaining chlorides will have relatively low melting and boiling points and most of them will be
liquid at room temperature. The chlorides will have low melting and boiling points due to the weak
van der Waals forces present. The melting point usually increases when you go from the element
sodium to silicon however then starts to decrease when it gets to argon. The boiling point will usually
increase when going from sodium to aluminium but will then decrease to argon. Sodium, Magnesium
and Aluminium are metals which have metallic bonding. In this

located all around the world; they vary widely in size and interest. Their intention is to take a package
of capital, technology, managerial know how, or marketing skills to carry out production or business
services abroad. Their effects are far reaching, affecting the daily lifestyle of the average consumer.
Partly because of their size, MNCs tend to dominate the sectors in which they specialize. As a result,
their transnational business ventures offer much debate about their impact on developing countries;
many arguments have been proposed on this subject alone ( ). This paper will be used to illustrate the
opportunities created by MNCs for less developed countries. A historical account will be presented
identifying the general impact of MNCs on developing countries up to the 21st century. Contemporary
views will also be used for the purpose of evaluating the influence of MNCs in the areas of growth
and efficiency, welfare, and values and institutions in the present and potential future consequences.
The earliest version of the modern MNC is visible in the imperialistic and colonizing ventures by
Western Europe, dating back to the 16th century. The modern version of the MNC was apparent with
the advent of industrialization in the 19th century. Companies

Dichotomy
Investigation:
The Dichotomy or also Achilles and Tortoise Paradox: Introducing the first paradox Achilles and the
Tortoise . This paradox is very similar to the idea of the Dichotomy so by explaining the example of
Achilles and the Tortoise both will be covered. Zeno came up with the idea of the Dichotomy, which
means dividing by two. As an example for this he came up with the example of a character called
Achilles. One day Achilles and a tortoise had a speed race against each other. Obviously the tortoise is
much slower to Achilles was so modest to allow him to have a head start of 100 meters. As Zeno and
Aristoteles says, when the race starts Achilles has to catch up with the tortoise so he sprints. While this
is happening he is halving the distance towards the tortoise. There is no problem here because
assuming no acceleration or deceleration, he is always going to half the distance as shown on this
picture:

As with Achilles and a tortoise this one even further stresses the idea that motion is just an illusion. In
this example Zeno assumes that time, in his definition, is only made up of a series of moments . In this
paradox one arrow, just a regular arrow, has been shot or is just simply in motion. Zeno himself states
that with his paradox, no motion is occurring while the arrow is in motion. This is because he assumes
that for each instance of time, which can be broken up into small intervals as defined earlier by him,
no movement occurs. Again explaining this more in detail, he is saying that because of all these
moments occurring and being able to divide these up into smaller intervals which then ultimately lead
to the point where the arrow is not moving at all because time has moments and no movement occurs
in that moment of time. This is why Zeno claims that the arrow is not moving at

International Adoptions Vs. International Adoption
There are many different important aspects to consider in international adoptions versus domestic
adoption. When adopting from a foreign country, it is important be comfortable with respecting and
teaching the country s culture and ethics to that child as it is part of their cultural heritage. Likewise,
children adopted internationally are of various ethnicities of which you must be comfortable with
accepting into your own family. To adopt internationally, travel to the foreign country is usually
required once or twice for a period of one to two weeks each trip. This will allow the chance to meet
with the child selected for adoption. International adoptions are comprised of the adoption of a child
from an orphanage. Due to government guidelines and abandonment issues in foreign countries, it is
impossible or very limited to access information regarding the child or their family s medical or
personal history prior to arrival at the orphanage (How to Adopt, n.d.). Because most children adopted
internationally are cared for in an orphanage, they are at an increased risk of developmental or motor
delays as also stated by How to Adopt (n.d.). It is also important to note that newborns are not
available for adoption in foreign countries as it takes time to process all the foreign documentation and
approval needed prior to travel to picking up the child and bringing them to the U.S.
Child Referral Assignment. Unlike the domestic adoption process, internationals adoption consist of
matching an already born child to the prospective adoptive parents. This referral process as identified
by New Beginnings (n.d.) usually provides the adoptive parents with a picture of the child and any
available information on the child regarding age, gender, family history, medical records, or special
needs. From this information, the adoptive family will have to make the decision as to whether to
proceed or decline the child referral. If the family agrees to continue, then the child will be officially
assigned as being in the adoption process by the adoptive parents.
Travel, Court Hearing and Finalization. Following the referral and child assignment, preparation will
be made to adopt the child identified. Forms such

The Quality Of A Balance Scorecard
A balance scorecard is an instrument managers use to gauge performance based on significant
performance measures chosen by the manager. Each performance measure can be tailored to meet the
specific needs of any organization. According to Cardinaels and Veen Dirks, firms either have a list of
measures or groups of measures separated into categories to evaluate performance. There are four
common categories that are used to group and describe the different performance measures. The four
categories are financial, customer, internal business, and learning and growth (Cardinaels M.G. van
Veen Dirks, 2010). Cardinaels and Veen Dirks said the financial category concentrates on financial
data like sales margin percentages and sales growth per store. The customer perspective concentrates
on repetitive sales and customer satisfaction. Internal business concentrates on returns to suppliers and
the amount of orders completed. Learning and growth concentrates on the development of employees
how happy employees are with their job. Customer, internal business, and learning and growth
measures are considered to be non financial measures (Cardinaels M.G. van Veen Dirks, 2010).
According to Cardinaels and Veen Dirks, placing performance measures into categories help the
reader make decisions by being able to focus on individual areas rather than each individual measure
to make an overall decision on the performance of the organization as a whole. One good thing about

She researches the development of professional midwifery education programs in Mexico and has

The author s research questions were How do Mexican midwives define incidences of violence in
obstetric settings, and what work does this definition do for women s health and for midwifery as a
profession that stands in contrast to biomedical obstetrics? (438).
In Mexico, midwives were considered to be the experts of maternal health care until the advancement
of biomedicine made them insignificant. Presently, there are high maternal mortality rates in the
country and now there is a movement to increase the practice of midwifery to solve this problem.
Many midwives believe that the medicalization of birth and hospital based obstetric practices are the
causes of the high maternal mortality rates. They aim to define and regulate specific obstetric practices

Vulnerability Exposure And Security Exposure
According to Microsoft, a vulnerability is a security exposure that results from a product weakness
that the product developer did not intend to introduce and should fix once it is discovered (Microsoft,
2015). A vulnerability is a flaw in an asset which could be exploited by a threat. Where there is a
window of vulnerability, there is always a threat.
Vulnerability exposure is one of the most important security issues Information Technology managers

access to information or capabilities that can be used by a hacker as a stepping stone into a system or

Patches can be conveyed in three diverse ways; as a patch to the source code of a program, a patch to
the compiled binary code, and a complete file(s) replacement (White, 2007). Developers will release
patches as vulnerabilities arise; the patches can be received through a global wide area network
(WAN). This allows the users to update their systems as soon as possible after a vulnerability is found.
Patch management involves making sure that that all of the released patches from vendors are
installed in a timely manner, at both an operating system and application level (Vacca, 2013). This
includes managing these updates according to the organizations business schedule and having
emergency procedures set in place in the event of an outbreak. Patching vulnerabilities may be time
consuming, this is why many IT managers, IS managers and the general consumer need to be
proactive in managing their systems.
Patches may be created in various sizes from just a few kilobytes to hundreds of megabytes. Service
packs (SP) are issued by developers when the sizes of the individual patches reach a limit. Typically
anything over 100 megabytes in Microsoft is considered a service pack. Many administrators wait for
the service pack to be released rather than individual patches. Developers release patches and updates
rather frequently, for example, Microsoft

Abstract
Chinese and Western management styles have varied greatly for many years, but are now beginning to

companies and managers to become successful. This is due to the positive manager employee

American managers have been using several management styles that been effective in their
companies.
Autocratic Management Style The autocratic management style is also known as the authoritative
style where managers tend to be driven by the achievement of results and the desire to make things
happen. The managers who follow this kind of style have strong personalities, which allow them to
perform and demand the best performance from their workers (Bono Heller, 2006). This management
style involves the managers making decisions on their own and this allows the decision making
process to be very fast. The managers are also very tactful as they provide a firm but fair approach
providing direction in the company. The autocratic management style leads companies to achieve the
stated results at the expense of the relationship between the staff and the managers. This management
style usually leads to a high turnover rate among employees. Such managers portray particular
characteristics that enable them to become authoritative and to use this management style. They are
usually very competitive and focused on attaining specific goals and achievements within the market

based virtual guided self learning, and simulation based discussion in an interactive classroom setting
(Ye Smith, 2015, p. 533). Radtke, Obermann, and Teymer s (2014) study used a sample of nurses from
a 321 bed hospital in Wisconsin. The results from the study revealed that nurses were knowledgeable
about the effects of sleep disturbances but no so much on how to promote sleep for their patients

Let Me Make A Declaration Of Modesty
Before I begin, let me make a declaration of modesty. I am, by no account, a legal expert, and, at this
point, having a career as illustrious and fruitful as President Garrett s is a mere dream. She is, of
course, far more intelligent, informed, and experienced than I in matters relating to law and, in
particular, the Supreme Court of the United States, and it is for this reason that I write this article not
in criticism, but in genuine confusion.
During the Question Answer portion of the September 18th faculty panel discussion regarding
Democracy Inequality, President Garrett and Professor Robert H. Frank, management and economics,
criticized the Supreme Court s holding in Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission (2010) that
the First Amendment permits independent corporate political expenditures.
President Garrett and Professor Frank chastised the ruling for its pernicious consequences on
American democracy. Professor Frank derisively highlighted the ruling s establishment of corporate
personhood, and President Garrett pondered how the five justice majority (Roberts; Scalia; Kennedy,
opinion author; Thomas; Alito) could possibly have concluded that unrestricted political donations
would not inherently precipitate bribery, for which there exists, in the President s words, a compelling
State interest to prevent. Ultimately, the general panel consensus was twofold: Citizens United was
wrongly decided, and the case should be overturned.
First, Professor

The Music Industry Lawyers
Music industry lawyers are the legal representation that resolves conflict in many realms of the music
industry. As consultants for the music industry, music industry lawyers advocate for the rights of
musicians and record labels. This legal representation is generally called to convey legal advice to
support musicians and record labels. Merchandising and touring are also areas that music industry
lawyers specialize in. These professionals are often contacted to negotiate contracts between record
labels and musicians; thus resulting in the need for strong communication skills.
Communicating with others is something I enjoy, and consequently this career would fit my
personality exceptionally well. This career involves both analytical and

An Investigation into Primary School Physical Education
An Investigation into Primary School Physical Education
This report will provide a concise investigation into the developmental stages of physical education.
Whilst this assignment will provide an overview of the subject in primary schools at present, it will
also go on to investigate into the issue of teaching on a practical basis and also look at how physical
education can develop a child. Using the information gathered from primary and secondary research,
which was conducted whilst attending a primary school as a six week work placement, the latter
stages will provide some critique and offer some recommendations to how physical education can be

The government has a major role, and although it is not an intention to delve into the government s
involvement in physical education, it is necessary to mention their ambitions to constantly improve
both the teaching and learning of physical education. This ambition can be represented through the
numerous teaching schemes, courses and initiatives that have also been made available by
organisations such the Physical Education Association (PEA) as reported latter on in the assignment.
Furthermore the government have the responsibility for deciding on the cornerstone set of guidelines
known as the National Curriculum.

A Study On Growth Mindset Essay
Growth Mindset
Throughout my life I never struggled with having a growth mindset in terms of what I wanted to do
when I grew up. I spent a very large amount of time soaking in all the information I could about
certain professions. That included spent time with cousins and friends who were engineers, interning
at my father s law firm, working for my uncle s electric company, and being a camp counselor with
young children. After a lot of time and a lot of jobs, I still never found that passion that I was looking
for. This could be what they mean when they say someone is burned out . By the time I began working
for my football coach Kevon Bagot (we just called him KB) who was a personal trainer in the
offseason, I had given no thought into being in the fitness industry, nor did I even think about it.
However, it turned out to be my biggest passion and I learned more than I had in my entire life. While
a growth mindset could help one significantly in terms of academics, I found it to be most useful to
learn about myself.
A growth mindset tends to be evident when it is applied to people s passions. Some people find their
passion when they are in elementary school, others do not find them until after they are retired. I
found my own passion going into my junior year in high school. I had become burned out searching
for what I wanted to do with my life in terms of a career. I had spent the previous summer interning
for my offensive line coach KB, who was a personal trainer in

Women s Concentration Camps In Nazi Germany
In the 1930s and 1940s, concentration camps were spread all across Nazi Germany. Within these
camps were various groups of people. During World War II, forced women s labor occurred in the
concentration camp of Ravensbrück. Camp construction began in the year of 1938 near the village of
Ravensbrück, approximately 50 miles north of the capital of Nazi Germany: Berlin. Once Lichtenburg
was closed in 1939, Ravensbrück became the only camp designated almost exlusively for women. The
camp of Ravensbrück became the largest concentration camp, in the German Reich, for women. The
first prisoners interned at Ravensbrück were approximately 900 women whom the SS had transferred
from the Lichtenburg women s concentration camp in Saxony in May 1939 ... Show more content on

During these, German soldiers isolated those that were of no use to them and killed them. These
prisoners were shot at first but, things changed in 1942. Useless prisoners were sent to the Bernberg
sanitarium. This was a killing center, containing gas chambers, under the Nazi regime euthanasia
program for people with disabilities. In the year of 1944, 70,000 more prisoners arrived at
Ravensbrück. Because the Nazis took advantage of slave labor, many slave labor subcamps were
expanded onto Ravensbrück. The women of Ravensbrück worked... mostly in agricultural and
industrial fields (Fold3). Weapons, aircraft parts, and other things were made by women in these
subcamps. The killings at euthanasia centers continued until 1944. Ravensbrück had a gas chamber
built in February 1945. 2,200 to 2,300 were killed in it by April 1945. Hungarians were mostly killed
in this chamber. They were mostly Jewish. Following the Hungarian population was the Polish
population and then Russian. The gas chamber is estimated to have killed between 5,000 and 6,000

  • 2. Informative Speech Over LS Engine My informative speech over LS engines went very well. I think that overall things went well especially the transitions between my points. I chose to do a speech on LS engines because my grandpas pickup had an LS 6.0. Something that went well in my speech was eye contact and volume of my speech. I felt relieved when I finished because I do not like speaking in front of people, especially for a class. My LS was probably the best engine that I ve ever owned. My grandpa purchased the Silverado with about 80k miles from a good friend and neighbor, Lyle Ernst. The pickup is a regular cab long box, and currently has 168,000 miles on it. It has a newer GM Remanufactured 4l80E transmission, and a new fuel pump and sending unit because the gas gauge ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I also put on GM Tow Mirrors, which look sweet. The intake manifold gaskets that came with the LS 6.0 Vortec engine are junk, so I replaced them with the help of Richard Brennan, the head mechanic at Sinclair. Michael Dekker and I went through the process of installing Light Pods in the fog light holes in my front bumper. Since the Silverado is a work truck package, it doesn t have fog lights, power windows, power locks, or comfort amenities like that. It s a work truck, and I put in Sylvania Silverstar Ultra headlight bulbs, but I wanted more light. Michael and I went to Advance Auto Parts in Sioux Center and I got LED Light pods. We drilled out the brackets on the pods and flipped the upside down, affixing them to the body mount behind the fog light holes. Michael looped power from the fuse block under the hood into the cab, and ran a return back out. I mounted the pods and then wired the right side to the left side. Michael took power and ran it to the cab, and we tied the pods into a toggle switch which we hid in a cubby hole in the dash, so it doesn t look like redneck butchery. Personally, I didn t care much about corruption because I felt I couldn t do anything to fight against it. Working part time alongside a general dentist gave me the opportunity to do dental charting, prepare instruments, and provide instructions and advice on brushing and flossing techniques to patients. I have since developed a habit of taking detailed notes and drawings of the surgery in my own journal to reinforce my learning. At the office, I noticed that a lot of patients walk into the office with pain that even interrupts their daily lives. In many of the cases, the handiwork of a dentist provided the patients immediate help by relieving them from pain. It showed the world that a movie consisting of all black actors could still be a very popular movie. Even though it revolved around the concept of slavery, once Roots came out, minorities started to show up more and more in films. With most metal bats being made of aluminum, they weigh in much lighter than bats made of solid wood. It is much easier for players to swing the aluminum bats due to that fact ( Baseball: Wooden Bats Vs. Metal Bats ). The lighter weight allows players to swing faster, which helps put more force on the ball, resulting in the ball flying farther and much faster. I can recall making small decisions on what I should spend my time on, either play with my childhood friend s after school or review the homework that I finished in class? Playtime almost won every time. Even though I knew that reviewing some of my homework could only help me, even with the good grades I was already making, the decision was made that I wanted to play more than study. At an early age I began to finish my homework beforehand so I could spend more time out playing with my friends and eventually I formed a comfort zone that showed consistency and balance between my grades and studying habits; I studied zilch yet received high grades that included many A s on tests. As time went on the same process continued and I was still able to remain on track and keep my high grades throughout middle and high school. The following years really struck me as a surprise when I entered my first college year and first set of assignments. Considering my standard work load of finishing my homework at school was completely halted due to the mere fact that class lasted a lot longer but with no time to finish the homework assignment before leaving class yet even take a look at it. Everything was starting to get restructured and my norm was thrown out the window after a rough first semester. Throughout my life there s been ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These oxides have the highest oxidation state. The melting point and boiling point for period 3 oxides is usually very high. This is because a large amount of energy is needed to break the covalent and ionic bonds in the period 3 oxides. Metallic oxides which are Magnesium, Sodium and Aluminium contain metallic and oxides ions. These therefore have a strong attraction between each other. This strong attraction means a large amount of energy would be needed to break the bonds. This would therefore result in the melting and boiling point being very high. This is because it has very strong bonds that require a large amount of energy to be broken and also silicon oxide forms a giant macromolecular structure. P4O10 and SO2 are both simple covalent molecules that have van der Waals forces between them. Period 3 chlorides: The melting point and boiling point for chlorides cannot be defined. This is because each chloride works in a different way. Examples of chlorides are sodium chloride and magnesium chloride. Both these chlorides are solid at room temperature and pressure and also have relatively high melting and boiling points. Sodium chloride and magnesium chloride both have very strong ionic bonds between them and therefore a large amount of energy is required to break the strong ionic bonds to cause them to melt or even boil. The remaining chlorides will have relatively low melting and boiling points and most of them will be liquid at room temperature. The chlorides will have low melting and boiling points due to the weak van der Waals forces present. The melting point usually increases when you go from the element sodium to silicon however then starts to decrease when it gets to argon. • 26. Dichotomy Investigation: The Dichotomy or also Achilles and Tortoise Paradox: Introducing the first paradox Achilles and the Tortoise . This paradox is very similar to the idea of the Dichotomy so by explaining the example of Achilles and the Tortoise both will be covered. Zeno came up with the idea of the Dichotomy, which means dividing by two. As an example for this he came up with the example of a character called Achilles. One day Achilles and a tortoise had a speed race against each other. Obviously the tortoise is much slower to Achilles was so modest to allow him to have a head start of 100 meters. As Zeno and Aristoteles says, when the race starts Achilles has to catch up with the tortoise so he sprints. While this is happening he is halving the distance towards the tortoise. There is no problem here because assuming no acceleration or deceleration, he is always going to half the distance as shown on this picture: Assuming that Achilles is running at 10meters per second (m/s) one can logically say that ... In this example Zeno assumes that time, in his definition, is only made up of a series of moments . In this paradox one arrow, just a regular arrow, has been shot or is just simply in motion. Zeno himself states that with his paradox, no motion is occurring while the arrow is in motion. This is because he assumes that for each instance of time, which can be broken up into small intervals as defined earlier by him, no movement occurs. Again explaining this more in detail, he is saying that because of all these moments occurring and being able to divide these up into smaller intervals which then ultimately lead to the point where the arrow is not moving at all because time has moments and no movement occurs in that moment of time. • 27. International Adoptions Vs. International Adoption There are many different important aspects to consider in international adoptions versus domestic adoption. When adopting from a foreign country, it is important be comfortable with respecting and teaching the country s culture and ethics to that child as it is part of their cultural heritage. Likewise, children adopted internationally are of various ethnicities of which you must be comfortable with accepting into your own family. To adopt internationally, travel to the foreign country is usually required once or twice for a period of one to two weeks each trip. This will allow the chance to meet with the child selected for adoption. International adoptions are comprised of the adoption of a child from an orphanage. Due to government guidelines and abandonment issues in foreign countries, it is impossible or very limited to access information regarding the child or their family s medical or personal history prior to arrival at the orphanage (How to Adopt, n.d.). Because most children adopted internationally are cared for in an orphanage, they are at an increased risk of developmental or motor delays as also stated by How to Adopt (n.d.). It is also important to note that newborns are not available for adoption in foreign countries as it takes time to process all the foreign documentation and approval needed prior to travel to picking up the child and bringing them to the U.S. Child Referral Assignment. Unlike the domestic adoption process, internationals adoption consist of matching an already born child to the prospective adoptive parents. This referral process as identified by New Beginnings (n.d.) usually provides the adoptive parents with a picture of the child and any available information on the child regarding age, gender, family history, medical records, or special needs. From this information, the adoptive family will have to make the decision as to whether to proceed or decline the child referral. If the family agrees to continue, then the child will be officially assigned as being in the adoption process by the adoptive parents. Travel, Court Hearing and Finalization. Each performance measure can be tailored to meet the specific needs of any organization. According to Cardinaels and Veen Dirks, firms either have a list of measures or groups of measures separated into categories to evaluate performance. There are four common categories that are used to group and describe the different performance measures. The four categories are financial, customer, internal business, and learning and growth (Cardinaels M.G. van Veen Dirks, 2010). Cardinaels and Veen Dirks said the financial category concentrates on financial data like sales margin percentages and sales growth per store. The customer perspective concentrates on repetitive sales and customer satisfaction. Internal business concentrates on returns to suppliers and the amount of orders completed. Learning and growth concentrates on the development of employees how happy employees are with their job. Customer, internal business, and learning and growth measures are considered to be non financial measures (Cardinaels M.G. van Veen Dirks, 2010).
