Art Historians And Enthusiasts Alike
Egyptian artifacts captivate the attention of art historians and enthusiasts alike. The unknown
artifact shown in Fig. 1. is one of these Egyptian pieces and dates back to the Old Kingdom
sometime between 2500 2200 BCE.
The artifact is a sculpture of two people standing beside each other. It is monolithic and carved in
high relief so it is meant to be viewed from the front because the figures were carved attached to the
rectangular slab of stone behind them.
The figure on the left is a man. The organic forms of his musculature creates an implied line as light
hits the sculpture and creates contrast between his muscles. This is particularly evident on his
chest where the form of the pectorals and the indentations of abdominal muscles are defined. His
only garment resembles a kilt with a belt and a curved pleat over the left half of it. The figure
beside him is a woman because of her softer, more feminine hourglass figure. Though the man and
her are proportionally similar, she is only as tall as his shoulders. She wears a garment with an
ankle length skirt of a light fabric due to her knees and abdomen being defined with softer curved
forms as opposed to the male s more pronounced bone structure unclothed.
The woman and man are embracing each other creating unity in the composition of the sculpture.
The man s left arm is draped over the woman s back as his hand rests over her left breast while his
right arm is down parallel to his side and his hand is in a fist. The woman s

Art And Its Effect On Society
There are about a million different colors in the world. There are light colors and dark colors and
colors in between. We can use colors to express ourselves and use them to express our moods.
People are famous because of art and people have been arrested for art too. People can dedicate art
to other people and people can draw themselves too. Million and millions of colors are in the world
but only few are known. More colors are discovered ever day by people who experiment with
colors. Making different shades of every color. For example, if you mix blue and yellow you get
green. If you mix different colors you will get new better colors. Colors are everywhere even if we
don t want them to be.
Colors have lots of meanings. We use many of the same colors but we mix them with other
colors and we get the different shades of these colors. For example, while red is the color most
associated with love, it also the color most frequently associated with hatred, anger, aggression,
and war. People who are angry are said to see red. Red is the color most commonly associated
with passion and heat. Blue is the color between violet and green on the optical spectrum of
visible light. Human eyes perceive blue when observing light with a wavelength between 450 and
495 nanometers, which is between 45 and 49.5 Angstroms. Green is the color between blue and
yellow on the spectrum of visible light. It is evoked by light with a predominant wavelength of
roughly 495 570 nm. Pink is a pale Red

We All Fall Down Themes
The most prominent theme that appears in We All Fall Down is the idea that seems to be that
Violence begets Violence. It s a violent place in the real world, and it s just as true in the book.
With the violent vandalism carried out by the Trashers, and their criminal violence towards Karen
Jerome, the entire town shifts into a more aggressive and more solicitous. This causes character
changes: The Avengers need for righteous justice comes forth once again as well as, Jane s father
turning into a depressed person but in a moment s notice ready to throttle the person/people who
trashed his house without a second thought. These two examples show us how two people can
change into more vigorous. This idea of aggression that is brought on by... Show more content on

the overall violent nature of the Avenger, boil to a head in Mickey. This is the obvious most
prominent example of Violence Begets Violence, and how one man can cause so much harm.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Filipinos
Nowadays, lots of Filipino people choose to work abroad. Some are in Saudi Arabia, Dubai,
Qatar, and other foreign countries. But the question is, why they choose to work abroad than
staying in their own country? There are 11 main reasons why several Filipinos choose to work
abroad, these 11 reasons was made by Fritz Natividad on November 19, 2012. Other sources like
books, magazines, newspapers and lots of sites in the internet have different numbers of reason.
Due to lots of reasons, only 4 reasons are common. This are Salary, Pressure from family and
peer influence, Self interest and lastly only opportunity to travel and experience abroad. In
addition, working abroad has its advantages and disadvantages. Thesis statement Filipino
workers endure being away from their families most of the time because they need to work abroad
than to work locally and see their families struggling to a severe economic burden. Body The main
purpose why Filipinos work abroad is to have a higher salary income because the salary of the
workers even if graduated from very prestigious school has a low bracket compared when you are

from Fritz Natividad. Aside from it, it can be your ambition or self interest since childhood to
travel from the other country. A dream you have ever wanted. It may not seems to be a very good
reason but still Fritz Natividad counted it. Is that to work abroad is their only opportunity to travel

The Design Argument For The Existence Of God
ONE
The design argument for the existence of God follows the model: 1) In nature, things appear to
work together for a clear purpose. 2) The best explanation for these relationships is that God
designed these things. 3) Therefore, God exists, as he was the one who designed nature. This
argument contends that an intelligent designer of the world does exist, and structured the universe
so that most natural things fit together for a clear purpose. We can recognize that things in nature
seem to be made for specific reasons that are too fortunate to be accidental. For instance, we
observe that giraffes have extremely long necks and conveniently eat from the tops of trees. We can
also identify that planet earth is just the right distance from the sun and moon to sustain human
life. If either of these things were less ideal, there would be drastically worse outcomes for the
giraffes and humans on earth. The harmony we witness in nature compels the belief in an
intelligent designer. Philosopher William Paley gives an example supporting this argument
using a natural rock and a watch. He argues that in a forest if someone were to stumble upon a
rock, they would not likely question why or how the rock came to be there, for all they know it
has been there forever. However, if in a forest someone was to stumble upon a watch, they would
likely wonder how and why this complex watch come to be in the forest. The passerby questions
the watch because it is obviously more elaborate

The media bashes Cleveland for this everyone knows it. MGK attempts portrays the status of
Cleveland through his album cover of General Admission. Even in the overall negative tone the
media puts on the city, MGK expresses the value of the city by portraying the buildings in gold.
He sees through the bad parts of the city and acknowledges its potential worth. The city, painted
in gold, sits on small chunks of land that holds it up, seeming like it could fall any minute. This
shows the cities roots makes everything unstable. Although there are no experts on Cleveland s
history or its roots in the room. We must take into account MGK s credibility of growing up on
the streets and understanding the city from his point of view tells us a lot. He wants Cleveland it
be a great city, a city where everyone wants to take a vacation to. Additionally, MGK also shows
how the profitable and the rich, in their ivory gold towers are far from the ugly gray ground and
are surrounded by gold. This leaves the rich unaffected by the drab environment they are not
exposed to, therefore they make no effort to change that

Chemistry Cake Testing Lab Report
Chemistry Baking ProjectFactorial Experiment9/25/17
Nick Arana, Joey HenselArana, HenselChemistry G
Objective:
The purpose of this experiment is to further comprehend the chemistry of baking a cake through
research and experimentation.
Background:
It may be surprising; however, the process of baking a cake involves a sufficient amount of
chemistry. A physical property is a property that can be observed or measured without changing
the composition of matter. For example, the color of the cake does not affect the volume,
texture, or flavor of the cake; it only affects the appearance of it. Color is a physical property of
the cake. On the other hand, a chemical property is a property or behavior of a substance when it
undergoes a chemical change or reaction. For example, a chemical property of the cake would be
that the cake can burn, spoil, or be digested. Everything added to the cake batter affects the texture
of it. For example, without the flour, the cake batter would be close to a liquid, but by adding the
flour it gives the cake more volume and it changes the texture. A chemical reaction/change is any
change that results in the formation of new chemical substances. When the cake batter bakes and
turns into cake, this is a chemical change. In a physical reaction/change, the molecules rearrange,
but it does not affect their internal structures (no new substance is formed). When eggs are
whipped, it is a physical change or

Joint Enterprise Ending Crime
Joint enterprise, ending crime or escalating jail rates? In this day and age crime is crazy, a leap in
crimes committed, the population is growing and so the demand for technology is increasing, this
only results in more crime, more criminals and more witnesses. Joint enterprise is a new law
recently re introduced aiming to reduce the amount of criminals but ended up punishing the
innocent witnesses. Joint enterprise is a topic in which experts have been debating about for a long
time. Some believe that joint enterprise is a form of human rights abuse whereas others think it is
just. Imagine an innocent bystander accused for something they didn t do, imagine their families

This is a major factor of why the joint enterprise is bad. Joint enterprise usually convicts the
wrong people sending them to jail, devastating families, filling up jails all coming out of our tax
money. Think about it, whenever you see the facts of people going to jail, not all of them are
criminals. For example the case Derek Bentley, a vulnerable teenager, who was hanged despite
public outrage in 1953 after being convicted of murder under joint enterprise law as he was
accused of murdering a police officer. His conviction was overturned almost fifty years later
exclusively due to the efforts of his sister Iris. His sister Iris made a massive campaign, which
was initially led by Derek s parents until they died, which led to his remains being removed from
Wandsworth Prison and reburied in a family grave. There are many cases just like this such as the
case of Jasbir Takhar who on the 5th of August 2010, was convicted of murder in Birmingham
crown court and sentenced to 29 years in prison. He was not the person who fired the gun; he didn

Negative Effects Of Media On Millennials
Media s Negative Impact On Millennials
Media is now the dominant source of information and entertainment in the world. People use it as a
major part of their lives, but little do they know how much it impacts them, especially millennials.
According to the Pew Research Center (2017), Today around seven in ten Americans use social
media to connect with one another, engage with news content, share information and entertain
themselves. Today s media is negatively affecting millennial behavior, physical health, and mental
health.
Media is affecting the behavior of millennials. Children, on average, watch around twelve
thousand acts of violence on televisionTV each year, such as murder or even sexual assault.
Several studies show that this kind of exposure can lead to aggressive behavior (PMC, 2003,
para. 9). Media is also becoming a heavy influence on sexual morality, portraying sex outside of
marriage as common and seldom mentioning its risks and dangers. Studies show how susceptible
teens are to media s influence on sexual behavior (PMC, 2003, para. 12 13). Drugs are promoted
by the media to today s audience as well. Celebrities are often seen and imitated by millennials as
role models; but news and media often highlight the negative things that they do, portraying sex,
drugs, and other addictions as normative (Mondal, n.d., para. 6). Also, several alcohol and tobacco
companies make advertisements telling the viewer that taking such products is are considered cool

Olympics Research Paper
One day in 776 B.C. the Greeks decided to honor the God Zeus with competition and sports. In
1894, the games were resurrected in a modern setting. The olympics have expanded in size, events,
stadiums, and athletes since then. From 12 nations, 206 athletes, 60,000 spectators, and 43 events,
to 206 countries 11, 237 athletes, 2.3 billion viewers, and 306 events the olympics have changed

games.
The history of the Olympics is fascinating and unlike than the current olympics. The modern

At the first modern olympics there were only 43 events, and now there are over 300. This is
surprising because one would never think that the olympics has ever been that small. Also, an
astonishing number of athletes are from California (124 out of 558 from America). The USA
has won the most medals in the summer olympics, a total of 2189. One thing that has not
changed is the most viewed event. It has been track since the first modern olympics. This is very
understandable because everyone enjoys a fast paced event that can change at any time. An

that tug of war was an olympics event from 1900 to 1920. Tug of war was placed into the track

would be an olympics sport. Locations and host cities are also a huge factor of the olympics and

world. It is easy to passively interact with the rest of the world and scan effortlessly through
millions of pages of information, some of which is useful, some of which simply takes up space;
the problem that many researchers and interest groups face is making sense of the whole thing.
What effects does the internet have on people? This question is no doubt an immense one. In this

Industrial Areas From Centralization And Neoliberal...
With the start of globalization and international expansion cities became a more significant part
for various industry sectors. By 2000, more than 500 cities had more than one million
inhabitants. According to the United Nations, 54% of the world s population currently live in
urban areas. Urbanization combined with the overall growth of the world s population could add
another 2.5 billion people to urban populations by 2050, with close to 90 percent of the increase
concentrated in Asia and Africa. This significant change of urbanization will lead to challenges in
satisfying the needs for housing, infrastructure, transportation, energy supply and employment, as
well as for basic services such as education and health care . This report will critically discuss
three key elements in relation to urbanisation: political economy, economic growth in urban areas
and urban sociology. With this discussion, I will argue that the shift in urban areas from
centralization and neoliberal globalisation had effected society in different parts of the world
differently. Since this essay is only looking at three main aspects, this is not a complete discussion
of the matter, but it is intended to provide an insight in the main aspects of economic development
in urban areas. POLITICAL URBAN DEVELOPMENT The study of urban politics is the study
what occurs on the ground, among people who share the same space for day to day living. This
makes the study of urban politics particularly challenging

Who did Wichita vote for?
Wichita, Kansas is situated in Sedgwick County. The result was a 56.1% vote for Donald Trump,
while Hillary Clinton received 36.9% of the vote. Gary Johnson received 4.9% and Jill Stein
received 2.1%. Similarly, the overall Kansas state vote was as follows: 57.2% (Trump), 36.1%
(Clinton), 4.7% (Johnson), and 2% (Stein). This is from both Politico and Wichita newspapers.
The significance of an overwhelming vote for Trump reflects the correlation to economic divides,
as voters may feel attached to the ideals of a better economy.

Things Fall Apart, by Chinua Achebe Essay
In the novel, Things Fall Apart, by Chinua Achebe, women play the roles of oppressed
homemakers that are perceived as weak and defenseless second class citizens, as the educators of
children, and as spiritual leaders in traditional Ibo culture. Through the life of Okonwo, the main
character of Things Fall Apart, the roles of women in traditional Ibo culture are presented through
various events that take place in the village of Umuofia. In traditional Ibo culture, women were to
stay at home and tend to her husbands needs and satisfy them. Women were viewed as property of
their fathers and were then sold to the suitor that was willing to pay her bride price. A womanhad no

authority. Neither of the wives dared to interfere between an occasional and tentative, It is

Ekwefi when she referred to him as one of those guns that never shot. The novel describes a third
instance of wife beating, when a severe case of wife beating comes before the egwugwu, they
found in favor of the beaten wife, but at the end of the trial an elder wondered, Why such a trifle
should come before the egwugwu? (94). All these occurrences demonstrate that women are
oppressed and are treated like inferior, worthless properties that deserved to be beaten now and
then in traditional Ibo culture. The Ibo believe that women are weak in every aspect of life. Men
insult each other by calling each other women. An example of this is Okonwo s deep hatred and
resentment for his father, Unoka, whom he considered a woman because of his carelessness to
rank high in status among the Ibo, for his laziness, and him being an untitled man. In a kindred
meeting of his peers, Okonwo unkindly tells Osugo, the man who had contradicted him in the
meeting, This meeting is for men (26). Since Osugo has taken no title, Okonwo considers him a
woman. Okonwo perceives women as being weak and does not want to appear weak or like a
woman among the Ibo. After murdering Ikemefuna,

the truth where Viola eventually reveals her identity as a woman. Feast of misrule was associated
with Twelfth Nightwhere kings and nobles were to be treated as peasants and peasants as kings
and nobles for the day. This particular festivity was known to be non religious and vulgar. It was
filled with general foolishness and pretences. Shakespeare portrays the description of Epiphany
through the stunts of Sir Toby, Sir Andrew, Maria and Fabian alongside Feste s humor and
singing. The irony of the feast of misrule is that throughout the play, Feste is seen as the wise
one, as a king and noble would be perhaps, whilst the other characters who were higher in society
acted foolish as if they were servants. The high spiritedness of Epiphany is seen when the
amusement of Maria s letter fools Malvolio into believing Olivia is in love with him. Another
point noting is the facade that is recurring in the celebration is expressed accurately in Viola s plan

The Critique Of World Music
Introduction
Is it a bird...is it a plane...? This is too shay ... World Music ClichГ©?!
When dissecting music, we mainly tend to pay attention to its ethnicity, culture, whether or not its
indigenous, traditional or tribal. World music is flavoured by native music culture. Often native
music is considered sacred or used to dissolve egos and ignite their awareness of spiritual fire!
Ever listen to a piece of music and think, I ve heard this before?
Western civilisation has forgotten about centuries old reincarnations. Even in languages: The
English seem to forget about its Germanic Constructs.
We could consider World Music as a Pseudo musical term in marketing...
We complain about this matter because of its ability to relegate something for its exotic experience;
cute, weird but safe, exotica is beautiful but irrelevant. The subtle way within in reasserts the
hegemony of Western Pop Culture. The context of world music has become so analogous. The fact
that we can appreciate it on the radio, T.V, internet etc. we also train our ears consciously and
subconsciously to adapt to Euro American ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this way, world music is exploited for financial gain. One may argue that this is simply an
alternative manner of promoting world music, but the purpose of the artist is to promote him or
herself, not the world music as a style or its corresponding culture. The exploitation of world
music and aspects thereof also contributes to the loss of the music s unique character, as it is
performed outside of the context for which it was designed and for reasons other than those for
which it was created. The fact that artists make use of world music or its characteristics in order to
make a profit means that the music has been

Podcasts And Content Marketing Essay
Content marketing began as a simple concept; one simply wrote blogs and articles related to
specific products and/or services and promoted them; however, content creation in 2018 has come
full circle. Businesses today have tried to keep up with content trends and have used different tools
to promote content in 2018.
Podcasts and Content Marketing
One of these content trends is the use of podcasts. Keep in mind that podcasting has been used by
many professions for quite some time now but its use in content marketing is relatively new.
Podcasting is fast catching. Approximately 40% people in the US listen to at least one podcast on
a regular basis. This trend has been observed in both genders. In addition, podcast listeners often

Format: Set up your basic show format. There is no right or wrong way to set up a podcast. The
important thing is that you feel comfortable with the entire idea, flow, and format. Some
podcasters ask questions from the listeners, others only provide a running commentary, and yet
others wait until the end to answer questions. However, for effective content creation in 2018, it
might be a good idea to interview an expert who answers relevant questions. This way you can
provide your audience with a more credible source and you also don t have to answer every
question that your audience may ask.
Length: Remember, a podcast should not go on forever. Most people keep it for 45 60 minutes.
This seems like an appropriate length because anything longer than this could bore your listeners
and force them to sign off.
Engaging the listeners: One of the most critical elements of a podcast is that it should have content
that is both engaging and interesting for the audience. An effective way to do so is by picking up
trending topics, invite guests and experts and keep the flow of information smooth and relevant.
Your audience wants to learn something and they want to derive information from your podcast.
You need to make sure you are able to provide the information. Therefore, your best content advice

The Mexican American War And Foreign Soil
Today, we are going to talk about the first U.S. armed conflict chiefly fought on foreign soil; The
Mexican American War (1846 1848). Motivated by the U.S. President James K. Polk, who
believed the United States had a manifest destiny to spread across the continent to the Pacific
Ocean, he pitted a politically divided and militarily unprepared Mexico. A border skirmish along the
Rio Grandestarted off the fighting and was followed by a series of U.S. victories. At the end of the
war, Mexico had lost about one third of its territory.
Let s go back to those events in details. First of all: What caused the Mexican American War to
begin?
The Mexican American War was mainly driven by the idea of Manifest Destiny ; the belief that
the U.S had a God given right to occupy and civilize the whole continent. As increasingly large
number of Americans migrated towards the west in search of land, the fact that most of those areas
already had people living in them was ignored. Instead, an attitude and belief that democratic
English speaking America would do a better job of running the lands than the Native Americans or
Spanish speaking Catholic Mexicans prevailed. President Polk shared and led the vision of
Manifest Destiny, and did offer to buy much of the southwest land from Mexico. However the
Mexican government refused the offer, and an unyeilding desire to populate those southwestern
lands caused tensions to continue to rise.
The second major cause of the Mexican American War

Performance Management Initiatives For The Public Sector...
CHAPTER ONE
1.0INTRODUCTION
1.1Background of the study
Countries around the world have embarked on public organisational reforms to improve their
performance and improve service delivery. The key reform in state corporations has been the
introduction of performance management systems but only few countries have successfully
implemented the same and got positive results Performance management initiatives were put in
place to tackle issues and concerns that organisations have on performance (Sharif, 2002).
Majority of countries are seeking to develop a culture in the public sector that is more performance
oriented , one that gives much focus to efficiency, effectiveness, quality Customer care, an increased
focus on results as well as more decentralised management (Petrie,2002). In the last two decades
performance management in the public sector has shifted its focus to putting in place systems for
measuring outputs and rewarding results (Heinrich, 2003).
Performance Management initiatives are used to enhance employee s productivity through
managing their performance (Poister, 2003).Performance management initiatives are very
important in the public sector of many developing countries where the productivity has been low
and the workforces continue to work under vague job specifications and muddled lines of
accountability. In many public sector organisations individual and organisational performance are
seldom measured and staff are paid low salaries that do not relate

Analysis Of The Overlook Hotel
The Overlook Hotel is shown through extreme long shots throughout the movie. This is done to
establish the setting surrounding the hotel and make the viewer feel a sense of isolation. This
adds to the overall tone of the movie, as when things start to take a turn, the viewer feels a sense
of helplessness. At the beginning of the film, the hotel is introduced after a montage is shown of
a car driving down a long, windy road, surrounded by miles of trees, bodies of water, and
mountains. While these nature shots are being shown, unsettling music plays in the background.
This montage establishes a sense of isolation and makes the viewer feel how far and out of the
way one must travel in order to get to the hotel. Once inside the hotel, there are many high angle
shots and large rooms shown. However, as the film progresses and things take a turn for the worse,
the shots are eventually more confined, creating the sense of being trapped and isolated.
Both diegetic and non diegetic sounds are used to make The Shining have a much creepier tone. One
non diegetic sound is the music that is played at the beginning of the film. The music is high
pitched and whistle like, but also dramatic. This makes the film chilling from the start and makes
the audience aware that something is going to go wrong at the hotel. Another non diegetic sound
that occurred was when Danny was riding his tricycle through the halls and turned a corner to see
the twin daughters standing at the end of the hall. When

The Importance Of The Fair Trade Movement
The movement I chose to research was the Fair Trade Movement. The main goal of the Fair
Trade Movement is to provide support to allow workers and farmers in local communities to not
get overshadowed or taken advantage of by large corporations and be provided with sustainable
and reasonable working conditions. Fairtrade is important as it is used to help improve the lives
and communities of producers that are small scale. Furthermore, Fairtrade is more than just trading
goods It highlights the need for change in the rules and practice of conventional trade and shows
how a successful business can also put people first. It is a tangible contribution to the fight against
poverty, climate change and economic crisis (World Fair TradeOrganization).
The key values of the Fairtrade movement include five values that the Fair Trade Movement are
committed to which are: People First, Excellence, Integrity, Respect, and Passion (Fair Trade
Canada). In terms of people, the Fairtrade movement focuses their goal around promoting and
improving the wellbeing of people such as farmers, workers and other members of small scale,
or local businesses. Secondly, for integrity they try to be as honest, ethical and transparent as
possible as they are accountable to their stakeholders (Fair Trade Canada). Third, respect is a key
value to the Fairtrade movement as they want to collaborate and work with diverse groups who
share similar values as the movement. Finally, passion is their last key value

The Consumer Of India Is Extremely Heterogeneous Essay
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY The consumer in India is extremely heterogeneous. The consumer
contrasts with the rural and the south Indian consumer with the north Indian. Further the consumer
in the metros militates with his usage and habbit patterns. The Indian consumer is therefore very
difficult to predict. At the same time the consumer is evolving with constant change in their choices.
Tea coffee are the favourite drinks in India though tea has ruled for quite sometime , but a quiet

unheard concept until a few years ago, are suddenly big business. There is also rise in the
consumption of coffee. In India cafГ© coffee day and barista are most popular and well known
cafГ©. These companies sell similar products but their positioning and target audience are very
different from each other. Despite of serving to different audience, these players compete among
themselves. Each player fights for its share of market. They try to differentiate themselves by the
way of product or price or promotion. CafГ© coffee day got a high rating in the market survey, for
the quality and taste of their products. If they work on this particular aspect, there is a huge
potential for them to attract customers, simply based on the taste and quality of their products.

Rawls Theory Of Justice
Fundamentally, Rawls aims to present a conception of justice that serves the social contract theory
more generally and abstractly than such social contract theories provided by Locke, Rousseau, and
Kant. In contrast to Locke, Rousseau, and Kant, Rawls conception of justice does not provide a
specific layout for the intricacies and structure of each social institution. His abstract concept of
justness, however, provides the foundation from which a just institution must derive. Within Rawls
theory of justice, he presents the theory of justice as fairness which aims to establish a just
arrangement of the social, economic, and political facets of a liberal society. Rawls states that in
order to create a fair society, the citizens should come to a mutual agreement of a sufficient concept
of justice, which would only be feasible in the hypothetical situation of an Original Position. Within
the Original Position, no social order would exist. Each person would exist without bias or
knowledge of their own or anyone else s social circumstances, whether regarding intellect,
physical strength, relationships, class, or the like. The people would be capable of forming a
conception of the good as well as developing the capacity to develop a sense of justice.
Additionally, all persons are to be rational and mutually disinterested so that no one aims to benefit
or disadvantage another person. In wanting to advance his own interests in the circumstance of
facing choice, one would choose

A Summary Of Reckitt Benckiser
Reckitt Benckiser is a British multinational company in the consumer goods industry, producing
health, hygiene and home products. Companies in this industry sell low involvement purchase
products and therefore compete on low margins and high sales volumes to survive in the market
(Tarver, 2017). For FMCGs short term activity is of utmost importance followed by long term
solvency and profitability including market value which should be monitored with using financial
ratios.
LIQUIDITY RATIOS
In the consumer goods industry, liquidity ratios are paramount (Tarver, 2017) as they determine
the company s immediate revenue generating activities and consequent ability to meet short
term liabilities. This is measured using Current and Quick Ratios (Appendix 1, a). The industry
has an average Current Ratio of 0.86 TTM (Morningstar, 2017). RB s Current Ratios seem to
have increased from 2015 s 0.57 to 0.63 in 2016 (Appendix 1, a). This means that if RB
liquidates all its Current Assets, they will only be able to cover 57% and 63% of its liabilities
and not the full amount. While there has been an increase in percentage coverage between the
years, RB is still below the industry average and therefore needs to collect back money owed to
them quicker, stop selling inventory on credit or sell off unproductive current assets. For a holistic
view of the RB s liquidity, the Quick Ratio was calculated (Appendix 1, a). By removing Inventory
from the equation, the ratio doesn t take into

Her performance of the song on the film was excellent. Galore of emotion was put into the

things about Effie. It tells us how strong she is as a woman. This performance shows that she is
a strong woman because she performed the song after she was told she was not apart of the
Dreamgirls anymore. The fact that she was able to sing the song at that magnitude, at that
moment, is amazing. This performance also tells us how strong her love was for Curtis Taylor
Jr. (Jamie Foxx). It tells us how strong her love was for Curtis because she sings the song to him.
The song is about her not going anywhere and telling him to love her like she loves him. Sadly,
the song does not affect Curtis and he moves on. The last thing this performance tells us is that
Effie truly has a stronger voice than Deena Jones (BeyoncГ© Knowles). Both Effie and Deena

Essay On Breaking Curveball
Baseball has been dubbed America s favorite sport ,and many fans contend that there is no greater
thrill than watching a good pitcher throw the ball skillfully in a series of expertly delivered fast
and curve balls. Two such pitches, the rising fastball and the breaking curveball are particularly
exasperating to batters because these balls tend to veer in one direction or the other just as they
reach home plate. The rising fastball zooms forward only to jump up and over the bat as the batter
swings. The breaking curveball curves toward home plate, but plunges downward unexpectedly at
the last moment. Batters attempt to anticipate these pitches, and respond accordingly, while
pitchers work at perfecting their fast and curve

The Importance Of Tradition In Shirley Jackson s The Lottery
Following Tradition
When one thinks of the word tradition, the thought that often comes to mind is a positive one, such
as the thought of Christmas dinner at grandma s house or church on Easter Sunday. Most of these
traditions we follow blindly, meaning that it is just something we do even if we do not remember
why. According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary, a traditionis an inherited, established, or
customary pattern of thought or action (757). Since it is inherited, we do not really have a say in
receiving it or not. It is expected that we continue the tradition because that s what our ancestors
have done. While following a long line of tradition can be truly great, when the reason for the
tradition becomes blurred it can become harmful. In Shirley Jackson s The Lottery, blindness can be
undesirable when following a tradition and can make that tradition dangerous.
My family has many traditions that we practice. As I mentioned before we go to Church on
Easter Sunday. Many little details make this tradition the tradition that it is. The whole family
gets dressed up in their very best and as a family we go to mass and praise Jesus. After mass, we
stay dressed up and meet our relatives at CafГ© 422 for a giant Italian meal. Once we all are too
stuffed to take in anymore, we retreat to my aunt s house where we can finally get into
comfortable clothing and hang out in the living room usually playing some type of game or
watching a movie. For me, I follow this tradition

request from the UN General Assembly since they aren t concerned with the reasons or opinion

While it was proved that the ICJ has jurisdiction in the case presented, they don t necessarily have

with regards to defending the consistency of the International Court of Justice, the ICJ has the
decision whether to address an advisory opinion request or not. The validity in the case presented
was reflected upon if the independence declaration was in accordance with general international
law. In assessing whether or not the declaration of independence is in accordance with international
law, the Court must be free to examine the entire record and decide for itself whether that

The Catholic Views Of The Roman Catholic Church
The Roman Catholic Church has consistently condemned abortion the direct and purposeful taking
of the life of the unborn child. In principle, Catholic Christians believe that all life is sacred from
conception until natural death, and the taking of innocent human life, whether born or unborn, is
morally wrong. The Church teaches, Human life is sacred because from its beginning it involves
the creative action of Godand it remains for ever in a special relationship with the Creator, who is
its sole end. God alone is the Lord of life from its beginning until its end: no one can under any
circumstance claim for himself the right directly to destroy an innocent human being ( Donum
vitae, 5).
The respect for the sacredness of life in the womb originates in Christianity s Jewish roots. The
ancient Jewish world was much different from the surrounding cultures of Palestine where
infanticide, infant sacrifice and abortion were not uncommon, and in some cases prevalent. For
the Jewish people of those times and orthodox Jews to this day, all human life has as its author
the one God whose creative power produces the child in the mother s womb and brings it step by
step to full life. The Old Testament revelation, which the Church inherited and accepted, gives
clear evidence that life in the womb was considered as sacred. Moses proclaimed, When you
hearken to the voice of the Lord, your God, all these blessings will come upon you and overwhelm
you: May you be blessed in the city,

Entrepreneurial Education And Entrepreneurship Education
Although it is a given that many research findings demonstrate an overall agreement on
entrepreneurial education and that entrepreneurship can be learned and taught to a certain extent,
agreements around the entrepreneurship education curriculum such as teaching methods,
appropriateness of concepts and educational course content, are not quite in unison amongst
scholars (Robinson and Hayenes 1991; Kuratko 2005; Pittaway and Cope 2007; LiГ±ГЎn et al

Recognising prior intentions can allow for a better comprehension of the intended behaviour.
Attitudes can motivate behaviours and the force of intentions. Above all, attitudes and intensions
are very much subjected to a person and his/her circumstance. Indeed, the intention of performing
entrepreneurial behaviours can be influenced by social influences (Dubini and Aldrich 2002) as
well as cognitive factors like beliefs, values and needs to name a few (Lee and Wong 2004). Two
intention models: Ajzen s theory of planned behaviour (TPB) and Shapero s model of the
entrepreneurial event (SEE) have profound ability in predicting a person s entrepreneurial
intentions. As entrepreneurship emphasises a thought process of assessing opportunities over
threats, when a person identifies an opportunity, it is justifiably an intentional process, which may
or may not lead to an entrepreneurial behaviour. Ajzen s model (1987; 1991) argues that planned
behaviours such as creating a start up company are completely intentional, and it depends on self
perceptions of social norms, feasibility and attractiveness. Previous research on cognitive factors
and an individual s intention to enter entrepreneurship were found to overlook personality traits and
take them into account when designing curriculums or training classes on entrepreneurship
(Zarafshani and Rajabi 2011). In fact, not much has been done to explore the association between
entrepreneurial intentions and personality traits.

A New Angle On Car Safety
According to Chris Urmson, 1.2 million people are killed on the world s roads every year. In
America alone, 33,000 people are killed each year (Urmson). Urmson is the Director of Self
Driving Cars at Google, and in March of 2015 he presented a TED Talk in which he addressed
issues of car safety. In his presentation, Urmson goes on to explain that for over a century,
America has come up with ways to mitigate car safety issues. Manufacturers have specifically
addressed the fact that car drivers often err, and in so doing, create unsafe conditions for
themselves and others on the roads. To address this, vehicles have been revamped to be more
structurally sound, and collision safety features have been added, such as air bags and seatbelts....

(Urmson). Driverless cars also have other sensors, including four radars, a GPS, an inertial
measurement unit, and a wheel encoder. The radars detect obstacles. The GPS, inertial
measurement unit, and the wheel encoder determine where autonomous vehicles are currently
and track where they go (Guizzo). Incorporating Vehicle to vehicle (V2V) communication in self
driving cars would provide additional safety. V2V is the technology that allows cars to
exchange information such as speed, direction, location and other data with one another. This
technology is also useful for vehicles with drivers because it allows them to receive a warning
of unexpected events and enables them to react quickly, thus improving safety. For instance, if a
driver ahead quickly presses the brakes, nearby cars will get a warning that allows them to react
promptly. If a car is speeding in a curve, the driver in the car will get a warning that indicates that
they re going too fast and need to slow down. Vehicle to vehicle communication also allows roads
to talk to cars about traffic jams, road work, and road conditions. If there s black ice ahead, the
driver will get a warning indicating the hazard. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety
Administration, there could be 600,000 fewer crashes involving

His aphorism in Death ends life, not a relationship (174) demonstrates how serious the
companionship was; Morrie and Albom will forever be in each other s heart. Yet, by
emphasizing love never stops, Morrie reveals another aspect of life. The most important thing in
life is to learn how to give out love, and to let it come in (52). Morrie guides Albom through his
story of his mother s death at an early age and how his stepmother, Eva Schwartz, provided him
with the love, care, and compassion that was vital to his needs. By sharing the story of the deaths of
both his mother and stepmother, Morrie conveys that their influence on him is forever. These
women taught him to always have compassion toward other people and these relationships shaped
him into the person he is

The Use Of Hip Hop Music In The 1990 s
In the 1990 s we saw many artists sampling the work of other artists in order to make their own
songs. Sampling is described as the act of taking a portion, or sample, of one song recording and
reusing it as an instrument or a sound recording in a different song or piece (Wikipedia, 2016).
Although sampling has been around for a long time, Hip Hop musicwas one of the most popular
music genres to embrace this method and create their own style from it. Advancements in
technology allowed for the use of sampling to be done with ease. Producers are able to pull a beat
from a song and use that beat or even loop it to create a new sound. This became a large part of
Hip hop music. While some may think of Kanye Westand his use of sampling, it

Literary Influences Of Iris Murdoch, Murdoch And Other...
Other Literary Influences
After F.r.Leavis, the names that one can hear or see repeatedly while Byatt speaking or writing
about herself as a writer, are Iris Murdoch, Marcel Proust and George Eliot. As a contemporary
British novelist, Murdoch has written over twenty novels and a number of critical and
philosophical studies. Both Byatt and Murdoch write packed, textured novels that take for granted
an audience with the time and the desire to linger over words and philosophical knots. Other
contemporary English novelist with whom Byatt remains often related include Margaret Drabble,
her younger sister, Faye Weldon, A. N. Wilson, and David Lodge.

The July Ghost, another Jamesian story explains a woman who stand too sensible to see her
own son s ghost and can only be comforted secondhand through her lodger who, to his
consternation is able to see the ghost. Despite a lasting sadness, nevertheless, Byatt admits that in
recent years her work has developed an unexpected lightness adding that she has only lately been
able to see again properly, after a kind of blind sorrow. She s drawn to the sparkle of Matisse, the
uselessness of cheerfulness. If one day you regain the sense that these colors and this tension are
extraordinarily beautiful, it feels like an incredible gift. The human condition is horrible; all this
beauty is extra.
After Charles s death, Byatt began to teach at University College. I think what saved me was the
students, she says with wonder. She began to complete her book, The Virgin in the Garden which
she interrupted after the death of her son. It published in 1978.It remains the first of a series of
four novels that represents the life of the Potter family. A minor character is Mrs. Thone, who
becomes devastated by her son s death. Guilt and grief are explored in brief here and would
continue to be touched upon in Byatt s later

Essay On Mexican Stereotypes
Is it right to stereotype someone for who they are, what they do, and what they think? To
stereotyping is someone that believes unfairly that all people or things with a particular
characteristic are the same. When i m around people taking, sometimes i hear that all mexicans
mexicans jumped the border but that does not apply to all mexicans, i ll be talking about a time
where i was stereotyped. One day I was sitting on the couch, when all of the sudden i hear a man
saying that all mexicans do is sell tacos. This comment is stereotypical because that is not true,
most of my mexican family members work in various types of jobs. Actually, none of my
mexican family members work in the business of selling tacos. My dad works in construction, my
uncle is a lawyer, and my other uncle works in a restaurant. even though many of my friends have
friends and family that work in the taco business, that doesn t mean that all mexicans have to work

All people are equal, for example, mexicans can do what asian people can do or what white
people can do. There are many great mexican scientists and athletes. There are also very good
businessmen in mexico. Basicly what anyone can do in America, china, russia, britain, etc we
can do maybe even better in mexico. If mexicans want to break out of this stereotype they have
to show the world what they can do. to break out of the stereotype that americans sell tacos we
can stop selling tacos and find easier ways to make more money faster. We can also stop
stereotyping by selling tacos all over the world. Not only does that already exist, but, not everyone
who sells tacos is mexican. There are many chinese and whites that sell tacos. One example of this
is that in my neighborhood, around the street from my house, there in a white couple that always

The Process Of Decision Making
The process of decision making can be easily understood as selecting one course of action over
other courses actions available. There are also steps that are involved in making decisions. These
steps include: (1) pinpointing the problem; (2) identifying the cause; (3) setting objectives; (4)
formulating alternative courses of action; (5) evaluating alternatives against organizational
objectives; (6) choosing the best course of action; and (7) implementing and evaluating the
decision (Holzer and Schwester 2011). Now while these mentioned steps of making decisions
seem extensive they are generally how decisions are made. Also in decision making there are
numerous amounts of models that emerge and try to explain how all decisions in administrations
are made. With decision making comes actors who implement and enforce the results of these
decisions. With regards to the topic intended for this essay, the actor is the American
administration and their implementation of policies regarding the recent outbreak of Ebola and
how these administrators are enforcing policies with respect to the public. This paper specifically
will revolve around Graham Allison s three decision making models in his book Essence of
Decision Making: Explaining Cuban Missile Crisis and the way his models analyze the decision
making process. Allison s three different models will give us different lenses to look at and analyze
how the American administration is handling the Ebola situation here in the United

Cutaneous Receptors Lab Report
A report to investigate how the densities and thresholds of two different types of cutaneous
receptors vary dependent on what part of the body tested
Abstract
The skin detects the modalities of touch and temperature through cutaneous receptors. The aim of
this experiment was to examine the nature of these receptors and their distribution across the body.
The results showed that out of the four skin areas examined, the greatest density of
mechanoreceptors was on the tip of the finger. This was because it gave the highest number of
correct responses in the mapping experiment and the lowest two point discrimination threshold. The
thermoreceptor experiments demonstrated that there was a larger quantity of thermoreceptors
specialized to detect cold stimuli rather than hot stimuli however it did not provide conclusive
results on how these receptors were distributed.
Introduction
This report looks at the cutaneous system. This system detects the modalities of temperature, pain
and touch. These are detected by specialised receptors called cutaneous mechanoreceptors and
thermoreceptors. This report will explore which skin area has the highest density of these receptors
and therefore the greatest tactile and thermal acuity. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The largest are Pacinian corpuscles which are sensitive to high frequency stimuli and detect rapid
touch and vibration. The second type are Ruffini s endings which, contrastingly, are slow adapting
and react to stretch of the skin. The third type, Meissner s corpuscles, are smaller in size and sense
light touch and vibration. They are also rapidly adapting receptors meaning the action potentials
generated quickly decrease after the onset of pressure. Finally, free nerve endings are formed of the
termination of sensory fibres. They are highly nonspecific and can respond to mechanical, thermal
and chemical stimuli, but only at very high

How Did Geography And Climate Affect Pennsylvania
Geography and climate impact the economy of a region because they impact what products can
be manufactured and then sold. In a region with fertile soil and warm summers, agriculture will
be a very large business, allowing extra food crops to be sold. Wheat can be ground into flour
and made into bread. Tobacco can be sold to people all over the colony, country, or even all over
the world. This is like the economy of the colony of Pennsylvania. The geography, such as large
deposits of iron, large forests, and good farmland, along with the mild climate, made Pennsylvania
well suited for lots of agricultureand gave it many different products to sell. Therefore, the
geography and climate boosted colonial Pennsylvania s economy until it prospered

Essay On Food Stamp Bill
The Republican controlled Wisconsin State Assembly passed a bill on Wednesday, May 13th to
require food stamp recipients to use their food stamps only for healthy foods. The bill now travels
to the Republican controlled State Senate, where its future is unknown. In the previous legislative
session, the State Senate refused to take up a similar bill. If the bill passes the State Senate, the
state would need a waiver from the federal government to proceed with the program change. Other
states, such as Missouri and Kansas, tried to pass similar legislation but were not granted the waiver
from the federal government.
Abby Phillip, author of Wisconsin Wants to Discourage the Poor from Spending FoodStamps on
Junk Food, explains the bill and its possible impacts. This article, published in the Washington Post,
includes comments from legislators and business coalitions about the positives and negatives of the
possible implementation of this bill. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Vos, a supporter of the bill, states that there is a direct financial benefit not just to the individual,

Representative Robert Brooks of Saukville, a supporter of the bill, adds that this bill wouldn t

Polyphenols Vs Antioxidant
Polyphenols are a naturally occurring compound in apples that have recently been found equally
as effective as antioxidants in preventing free radicals from damaging the cells due to their ability
to fight oxidation of low density lipoproteins and scavenge reactive oxygen species (Rana, Boyer
and Liu, Bellion et al.). They are known as a stronger protector for the organism against oxidative
stress mediated damage (Bellion et al.) Humans and animals have complex antioxidantdefense
systems, but they cannot prevent every oxidative stress from occurring. Both cardiovascular disease
and cancerare thought to be the most dangerous results of oxidative stress, both of which can lead
to damage of the larger biomolecules, such as DNA, lipids, and proteins... Show more content on

It can be defined as the intake of foreign agents in order to restrain induction, to prevent or slow the
progression of cancer or reversal of carcinogenesis at a premalignant stage (Jaganathan et al.) These
experiments, both studying in vivo and in vitro effects of apple polyphenols, have showed their
benefits as a strong chemopreventive food. When reviewing in vivo studies, the chemopreventive
properties in the apple diet could be seen as a visible reduction of inflammation, epithelial lesions in
the colon and increasing of apoptosis in tumor cells (Pietro Femia, et al.) Cancer preventive
strategies in vitro include mechanisms to trap and remove carcinogens from the organism, which
would minimize their contact with DNA and reduce their genotoxic and promutagenic action, and
also preventing the activation of procarcinogens to ultimate carcinogens, which could enhance their
detoxification through modulation of xenobiotic metabolism (Gerhauser et al.) Protein expression
was also noted in in vitro studies showing that polyphenols increase expression of both the p53
protein and GSTT2 protein, which suppresses tumors and reduces genotoxic stress,

How Junk Food Can End Obesity By David Freedman Summary
David Freedman s article titled How Junk Food Can End Obesity is relevant since we first read
the title. It even sounds satirical or sarcastic, but it encourages the average reader, as well as
provokes the counterparts that would not even imagine nor tolerate the approach Freedman is
taking. This article mainly focuses on criticizing the relatively new wholesome foodmovement,
discrediting many of its preachers and followers. Freedman s discussion attacks the wholesome
activists. He affirms the excessive pressure these foodies are generating to the enactment of
regulations and the demonization of every processed food, has in some way, harmed the large
companies that have been trying to implement measures to reduce calories. Freedman also claims
that is selfish and fantastic to think a wholesome diet is going to fit the average American, that has
a busy schedule, a low to medium income, limited access to fresh farm markets, and a taste
acquired culturally and biologically towards high fat foods, carbohydrates, sugars, and salts. The

California s Right to Know Act
California Right to Know Act: Time Newspaper has learnt that it s not surprising that Internet
companies have electronic dossiers that contain personal information for individuals who subscribe
to the websites. Generally, these companies have obtained the information from people based on
individual s visit to the website, sent and received emails, tagged photos, and searches people carry
out. However, the extent of personal information known by these Internet companies has remained
largely unknown as well who they provide and/or sell this information to. However, Internet
companies continue to gather lots of personal information from different people who focus on
carrying out online activities on a daily basis. Currently, it s estimated that these firms gather
personal information from nearly 500 million users but are hesitant to provide this information to
the other firms or individuals. As their unwillingness to share has attracted significant congressional
inquiry, things could finally change in California following the introduction of a bill that may
force companies to disclose the kind of personal information they have gathered and how this
information is being used. Summary of California s Right to Know Act: California s Right to
Know Act has been a long overdue bill in the State s legislature that seeks to force Internet
companies like Facebook and Google to disclose the collected personal information and the use of
that information (Cohen, 2013). The introduction

The Role Of Myrtle Wilson In The Great Gatsby
In the novel, The Great Gatsby, by F. Scott Fitzgerald, the American Dream is an important motif.
Almost all the characters dreams are mentioned and almost all of their dreams are not fulfilled,
but one particular character s attempt to achieve this dream leads to their morbid downfall. Myrtle
Wilson s American Dream is to marry the aristocratic Tom Buchanan, but we see that she does not
achieve this dream by annoying Tom, and then dying at the end of the novel. First, by annoying
Tom and therefor being insubordinate, Myrtle does not achieve her dream. The novel states,
Sometime forwards midnight Tom Buchanan and Mrs. Wilson stood face to face, discussing in
impassioned voices whether Mrs. Wilson had any right to mention Daisy s name (Fitzgerald 37).

The Natural History Of Social Problems
In America, there exists issues that affect the society at large, such as unemployment, abortion,
racism, gun control, and even terrorism. These social problems are viewed by a part of society
as social conditions or pattern of behaviors that are harmful to members of society and in need of
a solution. Many people in America lack the sociological imagination, as the media play a big
role in shaping their perspectives on certain matters whereby the media uses narrow casting to
only show one perspective. It is therefore important to note that through the sociological
perspective, one is able to view how broader social forces influence one s life. Throughout
history, it has been noted that social problems are inevitable. This means that, as the society
changes so do social problems and vice versa. In studying the natural history of social problems,
it is important to note that social problems pass through: pressures for change, crafting an
official response, reacting to the official response and pursuit of alternative strategies which are
overlapping stages. In the history of America, there have been various social issues that have
come about into existence. Some of the issues have been supported by radical movements while
some of the social problems have failed in their potential due to lack of support. In the cycle of a
social problem, the initial step pressures for change, is brought about by the realization of the
problem itself. Most people are made aware of social

Essay about The Role of Violence and Television
Television and Violence
One of the increasing problems in today`s society is the violence caused by watching too much
television. In 1950`s only 10% of American households had television, but today that number
reached higher levels and 99% of households own one or more. Television is most of the time
amusement and entertainment for many young people, especially children. Television itself has an
impact on everyone. Some researches show that television has good sides and that can be
entertaining and educational at the same time, where children learn more about cultures, places,
and they use their knowledge when it`s necessary. Yet we need to remember that only certain
programs are carrying positive messages which affect children ... Show more content on

Therefore, some see television as an unhealthy imposition into a child s learning process,
substituting easy pictures for the discipline of reading and concentrating and transforming the
young viewer into a hypnotized non thinker (Langone 48). Children while growing up and
spending 4 5 hours in front of television everyday will imitate aggressive acts shown on TV. The
only solution to this is to prevent it at the beginning. Parents can certainly control how much
television their children will have on daily basis. Television should not be in every room of the
house, especially children`s room, where they have the opportunity to watch shows while parents
are busy doing other stuff. Those violent acts certainly can be reduced by control which starts at the
beginning instead of waiting until everyone is helpless to improve the situation.
Perhaps one of the crucial problems is the possibility of developing the lack of social skills.
Children, while spending time at home in front of television tend to develop anti social skills,
which will affect their future and their entire life. Watching television shows, in most cases replaces
activities that children should be doing at their age. Instead of reading, learning, playing with their
friends, doing chores, having a physical activity, they sit at home. This way of antisocial activity
affects family too, because

  • 2. Art Historians And Enthusiasts Alike Egyptian artifacts captivate the attention of art historians and enthusiasts alike. The unknown artifact shown in Fig. 1. is one of these Egyptian pieces and dates back to the Old Kingdom sometime between 2500 2200 BCE. The artifact is a sculpture of two people standing beside each other. It is monolithic and carved in high relief so it is meant to be viewed from the front because the figures were carved attached to the rectangular slab of stone behind them. The figure on the left is a man. The organic forms of his musculature creates an implied line as light hits the sculpture and creates contrast between his muscles. This is particularly evident on his chest where the form of the pectorals and the indentations of abdominal muscles are defined. His only garment resembles a kilt with a belt and a curved pleat over the left half of it. The figure beside him is a woman because of her softer, more feminine hourglass figure. Though the man and her are proportionally similar, she is only as tall as his shoulders. She wears a garment with an ankle length skirt of a light fabric due to her knees and abdomen being defined with softer curved forms as opposed to the male s more pronounced bone structure unclothed. The woman and man are embracing each other creating unity in the composition of the sculpture. The man s left arm is draped over the woman s back as his hand rests over her left breast while his right arm is down parallel to his side and his hand is in a fist. The woman s ... • 3. Art And Its Effect On Society There are about a million different colors in the world. There are light colors and dark colors and colors in between. We can use colors to express ourselves and use them to express our moods. People are famous because of art and people have been arrested for art too. People can dedicate art to other people and people can draw themselves too. Million and millions of colors are in the world but only few are known. More colors are discovered ever day by people who experiment with colors. Making different shades of every color. For example, if you mix blue and yellow you get green. If you mix different colors you will get new better colors. Colors are everywhere even if we don t want them to be. Colors have lots of meanings. We use many of the same colors but we mix them with other colors and we get the different shades of these colors. For example, while red is the color most associated with love, it also the color most frequently associated with hatred, anger, aggression, and war. People who are angry are said to see red. Red is the color most commonly associated with passion and heat. Blue is the color between violet and green on the optical spectrum of visible light. Human eyes perceive blue when observing light with a wavelength between 450 and 495 nanometers, which is between 45 and 49.5 Angstroms. Green is the color between blue and yellow on the spectrum of visible light. It is evoked by light with a predominant wavelength of roughly 495 570 nm. Pink is a pale Red ... • 4. We All Fall Down Themes The most prominent theme that appears in We All Fall Down is the idea that seems to be that Violence begets Violence. It s a violent place in the real world, and it s just as true in the book. With the violent vandalism carried out by the Trashers, and their criminal violence towards Karen Jerome, the entire town shifts into a more aggressive and more solicitous. This causes character changes: The Avengers need for righteous justice comes forth once again as well as, Jane s father turning into a depressed person but in a moment s notice ready to throttle the person/people who trashed his house without a second thought. These two examples show us how two people can change into more vigorous. This idea of aggression that is brought on by... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 6. The Design Argument For The Existence Of God ONE The design argument for the existence of God follows the model: 1) In nature, things appear to work together for a clear purpose. 2) The best explanation for these relationships is that God designed these things. 3) Therefore, God exists, as he was the one who designed nature. This argument contends that an intelligent designer of the world does exist, and structured the universe so that most natural things fit together for a clear purpose. We can recognize that things in nature seem to be made for specific reasons that are too fortunate to be accidental. For instance, we observe that giraffes have extremely long necks and conveniently eat from the tops of trees. We can also identify that planet earth is just the right distance from the sun and moon to sustain human life. If either of these things were less ideal, there would be drastically worse outcomes for the giraffes and humans on earth. The harmony we witness in nature compels the belief in an intelligent designer. Philosopher William Paley gives an example supporting this argument using a natural rock and a watch. He argues that in a forest if someone were to stumble upon a rock, they would not likely question why or how the rock came to be there, for all they know it has been there forever. However, if in a forest someone was to stumble upon a watch, they would likely wonder how and why this complex watch come to be in the forest. The passerby questions the watch because it is obviously more elaborate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

MGK born in Cleveland Drawing attention to the character sitting on the edge of a cliff looking away from the city along with a tree highlighted by the spotlight shining on him or her. Just below that a mushroom cloud of smoke, possibly from a bomb, grabs attention from the contrasting surrounding blue sky. The whole city of Clevelandis atop a unappealing gray land. It has various objects like, cogs, pipes, and sewage coming out from underneath it. The sky around has a surprisingly untainted blue, with fluffy clouds. MGK attempts portrays the status of Cleveland through his album cover of General Admission. Even in the overall negative tone the media puts on the city, MGK expresses the value of the city by portraying the buildings in gold. He sees through the bad parts of the city and acknowledges its potential worth. The city, painted in gold, sits on small chunks of land that holds it up, seeming like it could fall any minute. This shows the cities roots makes everything unstable. Although there are no experts on Cleveland s history or its roots in the room. We must take into account MGK s credibility of growing up on the streets and understanding the city from his point of view tells us a lot. He wants Cleveland it be a great city, a city where everyone wants to take a vacation to. Additionally, MGK also shows how the profitable and the rich, in their ivory gold towers are far from the ugly gray ground and are surrounded by gold. This leaves the rich unaffected by the drab environment they are not exposed to, therefore they make no effort to change that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Chemistry Cake Testing Lab Report Chemistry Baking ProjectFactorial Experiment9/25/17 Nick Arana, Joey HenselArana, HenselChemistry G Objective: The purpose of this experiment is to further comprehend the chemistry of baking a cake through research and experimentation. Background: It may be surprising; however, the process of baking a cake involves a sufficient amount of chemistry. A physical property is a property that can be observed or measured without changing the composition of matter. For example, the color of the cake does not affect the volume, texture, or flavor of the cake; it only affects the appearance of it. Color is a physical property of the cake. On the other hand, a chemical property is a property or behavior of a substance when it undergoes a chemical change or reaction. For example, a chemical property of the cake would be that the cake can burn, spoil, or be digested. Everything added to the cake batter affects the texture of it. For example, without the flour, the cake batter would be close to a liquid, but by adding the flour it gives the cake more volume and it changes the texture. A chemical reaction/change is any change that results in the formation of new chemical substances. When the cake batter bakes and turns into cake, this is a chemical change. In a physical reaction/change, the molecules rearrange, but it does not affect their internal structures (no new substance is formed). When eggs are whipped, it is a physical change or ... In this day and age crime is crazy, a leap in crimes committed, the population is growing and so the demand for technology is increasing, this only results in more crime, more criminals and more witnesses. Joint enterprise is a new law recently re introduced aiming to reduce the amount of criminals but ended up punishing the innocent witnesses. Joint enterprise is a topic in which experts have been debating about for a long time. Some believe that joint enterprise is a form of human rights abuse whereas others think it is just. Imagine an innocent bystander accused for something they didn t do, imagine their families devastated by the news and their mothers tears, parents losing their... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is a major factor of why the joint enterprise is bad. Joint enterprise usually convicts the wrong people sending them to jail, devastating families, filling up jails all coming out of our tax money. Think about it, whenever you see the facts of people going to jail, not all of them are criminals. For example the case Derek Bentley, a vulnerable teenager, who was hanged despite public outrage in 1953 after being convicted of murder under joint enterprise law as he was accused of murdering a police officer. His conviction was overturned almost fifty years later exclusively due to the efforts of his sister Iris. His sister Iris made a massive campaign, which was initially led by Derek s parents until they died, which led to his remains being removed from Wandsworth Prison and reburied in a family grave. There are many cases just like this such as the case of Jasbir Takhar who on the 5th of August 2010, was convicted of murder in Birmingham crown court and sentenced to 29 years in prison. He was not the person who fired the gun; he didn t even know the gun was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Negative Effects Of Media On Millennials Media s Negative Impact On Millennials Media is now the dominant source of information and entertainment in the world. People use it as a major part of their lives, but little do they know how much it impacts them, especially millennials. According to the Pew Research Center (2017), Today around seven in ten Americans use social media to connect with one another, engage with news content, share information and entertain themselves. Today s media is negatively affecting millennial behavior, physical health, and mental health. Media is affecting the behavior of millennials. Children, on average, watch around twelve thousand acts of violence on televisionTV each year, such as murder or even sexual assault. Several studies show that this kind of exposure can lead to aggressive behavior (PMC, 2003, para. 9). Media is also becoming a heavy influence on sexual morality, portraying sex outside of marriage as common and seldom mentioning its risks and dangers. By 2000, more than 500 cities had more than one million inhabitants. According to the United Nations, 54% of the world s population currently live in urban areas. Urbanization combined with the overall growth of the world s population could add another 2.5 billion people to urban populations by 2050, with close to 90 percent of the increase concentrated in Asia and Africa. This significant change of urbanization will lead to challenges in satisfying the needs for housing, infrastructure, transportation, energy supply and employment, as well as for basic services such as education and health care . This report will critically discuss three key elements in relation to urbanisation: political economy, economic growth in urban areas and urban sociology. With this discussion, I will argue that the shift in urban areas from centralization and neoliberal globalisation had effected society in different parts of the world differently. Since this essay is only looking at three main aspects, this is not a complete discussion of the matter, but it is intended to provide an insight in the main aspects of economic development in urban areas. Through the life of Okonwo, the main character of Things Fall Apart, the roles of women in traditional Ibo culture are presented through various events that take place in the village of Umuofia. In traditional Ibo culture, women were to stay at home and tend to her husbands needs and satisfy them. The novel describes a third instance of wife beating, when a severe case of wife beating comes before the egwugwu, they found in favor of the beaten wife, but at the end of the trial an elder wondered, Why such a trifle should come before the egwugwu? (94). All these occurrences demonstrate that women are oppressed and are treated like inferior, worthless properties that deserved to be beaten now and then in traditional Ibo culture. The Ibo believe that women are weak in every aspect of life. Men insult each other by calling each other women. An example of this is Okonwo s deep hatred and resentment for his father, Unoka, whom he considered a woman because of his carelessness to rank high in status among the Ibo, for his laziness, and him being an untitled man. In a kindred meeting of his peers, Okonwo unkindly tells Osugo, the man who had contradicted him in the meeting, This meeting is for men (26). • 24. The Mexican American War And Foreign Soil Today, we are going to talk about the first U.S. armed conflict chiefly fought on foreign soil; The Mexican American War (1846 1848). Motivated by the U.S. President James K. Polk, who believed the United States had a manifest destiny to spread across the continent to the Pacific Ocean, he pitted a politically divided and militarily unprepared Mexico. A border skirmish along the Rio Grandestarted off the fighting and was followed by a series of U.S. victories. At the end of the war, Mexico had lost about one third of its territory. Let s go back to those events in details. First of all: What caused the Mexican American War to begin? The Mexican American War was mainly driven by the idea of Manifest Destiny ; the belief that the U.S had a God given right to occupy and civilize the whole continent. As increasingly large number of Americans migrated towards the west in search of land, the fact that most of those areas already had people living in them was ignored. Instead, an attitude and belief that democratic English speaking America would do a better job of running the lands than the Native Americans or Spanish speaking Catholic Mexicans prevailed. President Polk shared and led the vision of Manifest Destiny, and did offer to buy much of the southwest land from Mexico. However the Mexican government refused the offer, and an unyeilding desire to populate those southwestern lands caused tensions to continue to rise. • 26. Analysis Of The Overlook Hotel The Overlook Hotel is shown through extreme long shots throughout the movie. This is done to establish the setting surrounding the hotel and make the viewer feel a sense of isolation. This adds to the overall tone of the movie, as when things start to take a turn, the viewer feels a sense of helplessness. At the beginning of the film, the hotel is introduced after a montage is shown of a car driving down a long, windy road, surrounded by miles of trees, bodies of water, and mountains. While these nature shots are being shown, unsettling music plays in the background. This montage establishes a sense of isolation and makes the viewer feel how far and out of the way one must travel in order to get to the hotel. Once inside the hotel, there are many high angle shots and large rooms shown. However, as the film progresses and things take a turn for the worse, the shots are eventually more confined, creating the sense of being trapped and isolated. Both diegetic and non diegetic sounds are used to make The Shining have a much creepier tone. One non diegetic sound is the music that is played at the beginning of the film. The music is high pitched and whistle like, but also dramatic. This makes the film chilling from the start and makes the audience aware that something is going to go wrong at the hotel. Another non diegetic sound that occurred was when Danny was riding his tricycle through the halls and turned a corner to see the twin daughters standing at the end of the hall. When ... For FMCGs short term activity is of utmost importance followed by long term solvency and profitability including market value which should be monitored with using financial ratios. LIQUIDITY RATIOS In the consumer goods industry, liquidity ratios are paramount (Tarver, 2017) as they determine the company s immediate revenue generating activities and consequent ability to meet short term liabilities. This is measured using Current and Quick Ratios (Appendix 1, a). The industry has an average Current Ratio of 0.86 TTM (Morningstar, 2017). RB s Current Ratios seem to have increased from 2015 s 0.57 to 0.63 in 2016 (Appendix 1, a). This means that if RB liquidates all its Current Assets, they will only be able to cover 57% and 63% of its liabilities and not the full amount. While there has been an increase in percentage coverage between the years, RB is still below the industry average and therefore needs to collect back money owed to them quicker, stop selling inventory on credit or sell off unproductive current assets. According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary, a traditionis an inherited, established, or customary pattern of thought or action (757). Since it is inherited, we do not really have a say in receiving it or not. It is expected that we continue the tradition because that s what our ancestors have done. While following a long line of tradition can be truly great, when the reason for the tradition becomes blurred it can become harmful. In Shirley Jackson s The Lottery, blindness can be undesirable when following a tradition and can make that tradition dangerous. My family has many traditions that we practice. As I mentioned before we go to Church on Easter Sunday. Many little details make this tradition the tradition that it is. The whole family gets dressed up in their very best and as a family we go to mass and praise Jesus. After mass, we stay dressed up and meet our relatives at CafГ© 422 for a giant Italian meal. Once we all are too stuffed to take in anymore, we retreat to my aunt s house where we can finally get into comfortable clothing and hang out in the living room usually playing some type of game or watching a movie. For me, I follow this tradition ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 38. The Catholic Views Of The Roman Catholic Church The Roman Catholic Church has consistently condemned abortion the direct and purposeful taking of the life of the unborn child. In principle, Catholic Christians believe that all life is sacred from conception until natural death, and the taking of innocent human life, whether born or unborn, is morally wrong. The Church teaches, Human life is sacred because from its beginning it involves the creative action of Godand it remains for ever in a special relationship with the Creator, who is its sole end. God alone is the Lord of life from its beginning until its end: no one can under any circumstance claim for himself the right directly to destroy an innocent human being ( Donum vitae, 5). The respect for the sacredness of life in the womb originates in Christianity s Jewish roots. The ancient Jewish world was much different from the surrounding cultures of Palestine where infanticide, infant sacrifice and abortion were not uncommon, and in some cases prevalent. For the Jewish people of those times and orthodox Jews to this day, all human life has as its author the one God whose creative power produces the child in the mother s womb and brings it step by step to full life. The Old Testament revelation, which the Church inherited and accepted, gives clear evidence that life in the womb was considered as sacred. Above all, attitudes and intensions are very much subjected to a person and his/her circumstance. Indeed, the intention of performing entrepreneurial behaviours can be influenced by social influences (Dubini and Aldrich 2002) as well as cognitive factors like beliefs, values and needs to name a few (Lee and Wong 2004). Two intention models: Ajzen s theory of planned behaviour (TPB) and Shapero s model of the entrepreneurial event (SEE) have profound ability in predicting a person s entrepreneurial intentions. As entrepreneurship emphasises a thought process of assessing opportunities over threats, when a person identifies an opportunity, it is justifiably an intentional process, which may or may not lead to an entrepreneurial behaviour. Ajzen s model (1987; 1991) argues that planned behaviours such as creating a start up company are completely intentional, and it depends on self perceptions of social norms, feasibility and attractiveness. Previous research on cognitive factors and an individual s intention to enter entrepreneurship were found to overlook personality traits and take them into account when designing curriculums or training classes on entrepreneurship (Zarafshani and Rajabi 2011). Incorporating Vehicle to vehicle (V2V) communication in self driving cars would provide additional safety. V2V is the technology that allows cars to exchange information such as speed, direction, location and other data with one another. This technology is also useful for vehicles with drivers because it allows them to receive a warning of unexpected events and enables them to react quickly, thus improving safety. For instance, if a driver ahead quickly presses the brakes, nearby cars will get a warning that allows them to react promptly. If a car is speeding in a curve, the driver in the car will get a warning that indicates that they re going too fast and need to slow down. Vehicle to vehicle communication also allows roads to talk to cars about traffic jams, road work, and road conditions. If there s black ice ahead, the driver will get a warning indicating the hazard. Cutaneous Receptors Lab Report A report to investigate how the densities and thresholds of two different types of cutaneous receptors vary dependent on what part of the body tested Abstract The skin detects the modalities of touch and temperature through cutaneous receptors. The aim of this experiment was to examine the nature of these receptors and their distribution across the body. The results showed that out of the four skin areas examined, the greatest density of mechanoreceptors was on the tip of the finger. This was because it gave the highest number of correct responses in the mapping experiment and the lowest two point discrimination threshold. The thermoreceptor experiments demonstrated that there was a larger quantity of thermoreceptors specialized to detect cold stimuli rather than hot stimuli however it did not provide conclusive results on how these receptors were distributed. Introduction This report looks at the cutaneous system. This system detects the modalities of temperature, pain and touch. Actually, on occasions, I still feel pessimistic during certain circumstances and can remember feeling that way sometimes when I was younger.
