to catch largemouth bass, which are very common where I am from. I was on my high school s bass

white/green fish usually ranging from 1 pound to 6, they can also get up to 10 pounds as well. You can

Though out this class I learned a lot, I never really read much poetry and did not realize how much
meaning poems can have. I am glad that we read so many different types and styles of poems and
books. It really helped me get a well rounded understanding of poetry. My favorite unit was the
collection unit. The other poems we read taught me a lot about the other topics we touched on as well.
Before this class I never really gave poetry much thought, this class opened up my eyes to how
important poetry really is. The poem that stood out to me the most from the speaker, and narrative vs
lyric unit was Lorena by Lucille Clifton. I really enjoyed this poem and it made it easy for me to
understand the concept of speakers. Lucille Clifton wrote the poem, but wrote it about a experience
Lorena Bobbit went through. It was hard for me to understand how a poem could have a speaker other
then the author but this one made me see how sometimes the author is not necessarily the speaker. I
thought about/authority and how it always insisted/on itself (pg. 57, 2 4). These lines contain the
phrase I , but when Clifton uses the phrase I , she herself is not the individual, Lorena Bobbit is meant
to be the speaker. This poem was a narrative, it told a story about the even Lorena actually lived
through. It really stood out to me a lot and helped me understand the concept on a deeper level. The

Learning New Vocabulary At Parkview Middle School
The participants of this study were the twelve students enrolled in my second period and sixth period
language arts classes at Parkview Middle School. All students are classified with a disability. Ten
students are classified with an emotional disability, one is classified other health impaired and one is
classified with autism. The participants included nine male students and three female students. Three
students were enrolled in sixth grade, three in seventh grade and six students were enrolled in eighth
grade. Three students were African American, one Hispanic, and eight white students.
Data Collection

Research Paper The most notable aspect of Jeffrey Eugenides s The Virgin Suicides would be its first
person plural narrative voice. Literary scholars have often addressed the issue of the narrative voice
and the effect that having multiple narrators has on the story. In her article A story we could live with
Narrative voice, the Reader, and Jeffrey Eugenides s The Virgin Suicides Debra Shostak addresses
how the we inadvertently draws attention to the otherness of the Lisbon girls. She attempts to dispel
the belief that The Virgin Suicides is a misogynistic text by analyzing Eugenides s complicated use of
the word we . Shostak s article gives deep insight into the complexities of the plural narrative and
provides a foundation for future analysis of the text. However, what Shostak does not address is how
this perception of otherness, by both the narrators and the community in which they reside, ultimately
leads to the downfall of the Lisbon sisters. My argument is twofold. Firstly, I will address how the
perception by the narrators that the girls are radically different from themselves and their community,
combined with the tendency to group the girls as a single monolithic entity serves as one explanation
for the girls deaths. Treating the girls as though they are the same person leads to the perceived
inevitability of their deaths, which ultimately plays a vital role in their untimely and fatal ends.

Montessori Class Reflection
These two past weeks we have been doing a lot of lecture series in class, which I enjoy a lot, I feel like
I learn better when having a power point presentation to see, read, and listened to, instead of just
talking about something or reading it. This past week we also had our first paper due, our thoughts and
beliefs paper which we had time to talk about what we wrote about with a partner. I thought this was a
very insightful way to see how other people interpreted the same assignment, and even though we
both answered the questions we may have answered them in a different way or a different perspective.
So far in class we have gone over some general theories of play, some of which I had already learned
about in my developmental psych class, but others that I had not really hear of before. One of the
surprising things I learned was about was the Montessori schools. Up until this class I had a negative
connotation towards Montessori schools because one of my friends went there for kindergarten
through fourth grade and she felt like they didn t properly prepare her for public schooling. She was
behind in most of her classes, and didn t feel like she could easily catch up. But after learning that the
Montessori schools teach independence to children I realize how she has often acted more mature and
independent from people her own age. Although she was not top of her class she was able to catch up
and graduate high school with all the kids she started 5th grade public school

Hunger is a part of the human experience that appears in literature across the globe. People require

been devastated by famines in history. Authors of the 20th century from various countries understood
the significance of finding food to sustain the body. When there is scarcity of food, it dominates a
person s interests over other needs like social and emotional needs. This provides a window of
opportunity in literature. When a character experiences hunger, it strips them down to their most basic
form, as a body needing to survive. Hunger in literature causes people to break social customs and

For this assignment, I shadowed Brooke Friday, an Assistant Stage Manager for the DPA production
of Midsummer Night s Dream, a radio show produced in the Studio Theatre. The day I visited was a
dress rehearsal a couple of days before opening. For this production, Friday had many responsibilities
to make sure the rehearsal process ran smoothly. Although she never had to make any blocking notes
(the actors stood in front of microphones for the entirety of the show), she had to take numerous line
notes. She also had to help set up and tear down the microphones, chairs, and the foley, the equipment
used for sound effects. Lastly, she had to time the production. She had to time the entire run time
along with the time for each scene. She told me that this was information for the editors when they go
back and look at the recordings I feel her most important job was taking line notes throughout the
