The House Of The Scorpions Analysis
Throughout both The House of the Scorpions and On the Doctrine of the Feeling of Power, there are
many differences. These two articles are like comparing apples to broccoli as Mrs. White, my eighth
grade gifted English teacher, puts it. However, once you dig down deeper into the meaning of these
writings, you can find many similarities not easily seen on the surface. Conceiving of power, as
Nietzsche puts it, is more of a deceitful process. Nietzsche s process might be more for someone who
is looked at with little power. In other words, his process is more intended for power hungry people. I
believe that power should be obtained in respect and harmony. Obviously, my way will take longer to
move up the scale of power, but it is the only way to do it without ending ... Show more content on

One way that people use benefiting is, if someone is running for class president or any other thing that
is controlled by the people s vote then the runner might hand out cookies, stickers, anything the voter
will like. They do this in order to get people on their side so they can win the election against their
opponent enemy. Obviously, they are not doing this in a negative way, all they are thinking about is
winning. This shows that sometimes you can be deceitful without even realizing it. An example of
pain is when a parent is punishing their child. The parent hates this process, but they know it is the
best thing to do for their child. All they want is to mature their child into a well formed human being.
As you can see, Nietzsche s ways are used in everyday life without us even knowing it. As you can
see, there are many more similarities than seen on the surface. Both novels express high levels of
power, and how to gain that power. Both show lots of symbolism. Now you can see why it is better

Summary Of Kotter sOur Iceberg Is Melting
In Our Iceberg Is Melting, Kotter s means 5 Empowering Others to Act, and 6 Produce Short Term
Wins are exhibited in a base up movement, particularly while considering Step 5 Empowering Others
to Act. When Louis (Head Penguin) acknowledged there was legitimacy to Fred s worries about their
ice sheet home, he started the procedures of enabling others by his movement of trust in the activities
exhibited by Alice and Buddy. Mate shows his comprehension of youth control to realize change by
enabling the individuals who did not have the immediate energy to achieve change. In building up the
arrangement, Buddy s significant part in the arrangement was to converse with the kindergarten
instructor. This prompted the kindergarten educator to tell the understudies stories of courageous
activity to help other people under troublesome and evolving conditions (Kotter and Rathgeber, 2006,
p.94). This without a doubt drove the adolescent to consider ways they could effectuate change, which
Alice later found when she experienced kindergarten understudy Sally Ann. Alice strengthened the
seeds of progress that had been planted by Buddy s underlying discussion with the kindergarten
educator, the kindergarten instructor s courageous stories sustained the planted seed, and Sally Ann s
cooperation with Alice showed the growing of strengthening. These previously mentioned activities
set the establishment for Stage 6 Produce Short Term Wins when the scouts chosen to strike out and

In Today’S Global Market, China Is One, If Not The World’S
In today s global market, China is one, if not the world s most important player. When China s
economy is doing well, the majority of the world s economies tend to do the same. When China s
economy is slow, the rest of the world usually follows. At the start of the 2016 year, China s stock
market declined by 7% (Best). Stock markets in Europe, Asia, and the United States quickly followed
the trend. It is clear that when China slows down, its trade partners follow. China affects a lot of
countries. Three examples include oil, commodities, and trade (Best). When there is not a lot of supply
of a certain item, the prices usually skyrocket and the supplier benefits. On the flipside, when there is
oversupply, the economy can suffer. This is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After the war, Mao Zedong took over China in 1949 (BBC History Mao Zedong). Shortly after, China
s influence in the global economy declined. China s involvement in the global economy was only 5%
during his rule (Holodny). This happened as a result from Mao Zedong implementing The Great Leap
Forward in 1958, and the Cultural Revolution in 1966. The Great Leap Forward was an attempt to
modernize China s economy so that it could match up with the economy of the United States by
around 1988 (Trueman). He saw potential growth in agriculture and industry. His reasoning for
choosing agriculture and industry was that one could not blossom without the other. Agriculture
needed industry because they needed the best machinery and equipment to succeed, while the industry
would prosper if it was fed well by agriculture. To do this, the government took complete control.
Schools, tools, retirement homes, entertainment, and healthcare were all provided by the government
(Trueman). This would ensure all the people could work. After the first year, everything seemed great
according to plan. Things would turn around at the start of 1959. In 1959, the government wanted its
people to work faster to produce more products. This caused workers to work long hours every day.
Due to the quick production, the goods lacked quality. The steel that was produced was too weak for

Stricter Gun Laws
In the past few years, mass shootings have been occurring more frequently. From that movie theatre a
few years back, to the church shooting earlier this year, mass shootings are starting to become a little
bit too common. One would think that this fact would lead to better gun ownership laws, but it has not
affected them all that much. Too many Americans have rioted when the mere whisper of stricter laws
escapes the mouths of any of their fellow people. Stricter laws on the ownership and usage of firearms
should be considered, for it would reduce mass shootings, less violent crimes would be committed,
and more lives would be saved from the potential danger.

The Dynamic Role In Music During The Romantic Period
Araceli Jaramillo

Intro To Music Mul. 1010

The dynamic role of Women in Music during the Romantic Period.
Usually when people judge romance they assume of dating, but the Romantic Period was not about
dating, it was a time of great emotion, creativity, imagination, adventure, and was a time of political
revolution. Romanticism originated in Western Europe in the second half of the 18th century, and
gained much strength during the Industrial Revolution. This era was a time of great change, and unlike
the Classical era, the Romantic era allowed artistic creativity, freedom, and experimentation. The
Romantic Period brought a flood of women who began writing and expressing themselves through
literary works. Women increased recognition during the romantic era. They devolved into music
teachers, composers, singers and performers. Although they were still in the opposition of music
professions, the women in this era opened the doors for opportunities in the future. A few dominant
impacts were Pauline Viardot, Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel, and Clara Schumann. They even had some
of their works published. (Young: 235 237)
Women have been active participants in the musical world since antiquity, but discussions of their
efforts have traditionally been neglected in favor of those of male musicians. Beginning in the
romantic era, encouraged by the flourishing feminist movement, scholars began to investigate the
musical activities of female musicians in

Mixed Methods Of Quantitative And Qualitative Data
Mixed methods approach was implemented deliberately to gain quantitative and qualitative data. The
integration of quantitative and qualitative data maximizes the strengths and minimizes the weaknesses
of each type of data to ensure validity and reliability. The two forms of data collection were interviews
and questionnaires. Mixed methods was chosen to gain better insight into the issue. This will help to
compare, validate or triangulate results and in doing so may help to identify trends and outcomes,
Plano Clark, (2010). Mixed methods research, is more than collecting qualitative data from interviews,
or collecting multiple forms of qualitative evidence (e.g., observations and interviews) or multiple
types of quantitative evidence (e.g., ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The next stage of the process was to structure the order and flow of answerability. The aim of this
journal is to assess attitudes of senior rugby players with regards to safety and performance during the
tackle, therefore the researcher thought close ended questions would be most appropriate. Hendricks et
al states Closed ended questions provide respondents with pre specified set of answers (items) and
response categories, (p.267). This in fact makes answering of the questionnaire less demanding for the
subjects involved. Each question consisted of the question, and response categories.
A 5 point Likert scale was used to enable the researcher to measure the significance, frequency and
size of each item. For measuring players attitude, subjects involved had to rate the significance of each
question on the following scale: (1) not at all important, (2) not too important, (3) undecided, (4)
somewhat important, (5) very important, ( Hendricks et al, 2011). To assess occurrence of training and
training behaviour the following was used, (1) never, (2) rarely, (3) sometimes, (4) frequently, (5)
always.
The finalised questionnaire enclosed 10 questions. The questionnaire consisted of 9 attitudinal
questions based on their (players) opinions on tackling technique and methods used, with the
exception of question 1 (how many times to you train in the week). Within this questionnaire players

Computer Science is the study of principals and how the computers works. Which leads to computer

from an original formulation of computing problem to executable computer programs. You wonder
why this is so important to everybody, but it is very important since things you will use in your daily
life had to be programmed to be able to work. For example writing this paper I am using Microsoft
Word which had to be programed so I can use it to write my papers. How many people knew that
everything had to be coded for it to work? What types of degrees can you get for computer

new technology. There are hundreds of different languages out there that anyone could learn if they
had the time and patience to learn it all. COBOL (Common Business Oriented Language) is one of the
oldest languages that there is out there (COBOL par. 1). Out of those there are Java, Python, C, C++,
Ruby and JavaScript (Kim). Do you know what the most common programming languages were in
2010? Well if you don t know they are C++, Java, JavaScript C# and finally Visual Basic
(Programming Languages par.3) For example you will see java everywhere, it is one of the most
commonly taught languages that is good to learn if you want to become a programmer. As you start
your classes, you will start with the fairly easy programs during school and then get into the harder
programs. Also according to COBOL this is the first high level language that makes it almost seem

Integrating Quotes Into Paper
Tips on Introducing Quotes General Principles Writers use quotations for a variety of purposes: to
argue with another author s definition of a term, to provide statistical evidence or testimony to validate
a claim; to present the reader with a statement we wish to refute or discuss in detail. If writers overdo
and include too many quotations in a research essay, readers will form the negative impression that the
authors of those sources are more authoritative than the writer of the research paper. Often the voices
of those authorities drown out the writer s voice, in a sense taking over authorship of the paper.
Writers should use direct quotations only when the source s words are particularly relevant, powerful,

Choices For Children, By Alfie Kohn
Choice in curriculum means more options for children. For instance, picture the high school child who
has a passion for history and struggles through any math course. This child would take courses such as
American History, World History, Sociology, Psychology, and American literature. By high school, the
foundation of all subjects has been taught and the children have a sense of what subjects they excel at,
and they know what subjects they will never use outside of high school. The classroom that is not
enjoyable to the student can create a pupil that is disinterested and idle. The school, in theory, is set up
to make the child succeed and learn new information. In a 2008 survey of public high school teachers,
21 percent judged student absenteeism ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Active learning is when a student is engaged and contributes to the conversation and analysis of the
subject. In a Columbia University essay on active learning, a figure claiming, ...an instructor generally
says 100 200 words a minute and a student only hears 50 100 half. Worse yet, in a typical lecture
class, students are attentive just 40 percent of the time ( Active Learning ). When letting students
engage in classes of their choice, it generates active participation in their own education and helps
them retain the knowledge later. In Alfie Kohn article Choices for Children, Kohn recalls a student
explaining ...that being able to make such choices leads to learning rather than just remembering
(Kohn). This correlates with my own experience, in the classes I enjoy are the ones I retain the
information from and want to continue to learn, even after the bell rings. It makes me curious about
the world and I want to seek out answers about said subject. Additionally, when given a research topic
I enjoy I am eager to start and research it, but if I find it to be a waste of time and soon after the
information passes from my memory. Active learning and retaining knowledge can be achieved
through having choice in classes, by being engaged and intrigued in the

Analysis Of Meditation 17 By John Donne
Meditation 17 is a poem by John Donne that reveals his thoughts and beliefs on the world altogether.
We see a lot of religion cited in this poem and then we also see a kind of dark side of that which would
be death. In this poem, John Donne elevates this poem by the way he structures it as well as the
language and situation. The language is so important to understand because it can convey a message
that is deeper than just the words. We see a lot of words that very common in this poem however, they
are placed in a unique way that most likely someone will have to go back and reread to grasp what is
being said. There are many metaphors, analogies and personification used throughout the poem. I
believe John Donne does this so that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I see John Donne doing the same thing in this poem, the tone is somewhat straight forward and
serious, with the narrator having a down speaking tone and somewhat apathetic to the things being
conveyed in this poem. And when she buries a man, that action concerns me this is an indicator of the
tone being used once again. It is clear that the line is speaking about death, it is pretty common that
death is taking seriously and in which we would be serious when speaking on it. John Donne also uses
alliterations throughout this poem along with repetition. congregation to come , the church is catholic ,
are examples of alliteration he used. the action concerns me , for whom this bell tolls are used as
repetition. All of these examples are used to help remind the reader what exactly they are reading and
gathering from the poem. I think that these all lighten the mood of the poem so it s not total darkness.
The structure stands out to me mainly in the fact that there are no stanzas nor paragraph indentions.
The poem is a single paragraph, I believe he kept it this way because he states that all mankind is of
one author and is one volume . Also, this single paragraph poem could be seen as an essay. When I

Aurangzeb s religious policy is based on the Islamic theory of kinship. Aurangzeb was felt that he had
not only become greater than administer the empire in a better way, but also to protect and strengthen
particularly its Sunni Islam faith. He was a strict follower of the Sunni sect, to the extent that he
persecuted the members of the Shiite sect. In order to achieve its objective of strengthening Islam, his
father was imprisoned, he killed his brothers, he forced his son Akbar to revolt and have a miserable
life. He also forced the Rajputs, the Jat Sikhs and Marathas to revolt, destroyed the states of Bijapur

Use Of Upper Atmospheric Density Models
The use of upper atmospheric density models is essential for orbit determination and geophysical
research. This data plays an important role in understanding the exosphere, and can contribute to
monitoring of next solar cycle. One of the major applications of studying upper atmospheric density
models and their changes with the solar cycles is to track and identify active satellites as well as debris
in the low earth orbit (LEO) and other higher orbits. Collision avoidance and reentry prediction for
large debris and satellites are important data which can be derived as a result of precise estimation of
drag. For satellites meant to be in its orbit for a significant time, it is important to know when the
satellites need a drag make up maneuver, and also for mission planning. This section talks about the
density models developed from the dawn of space race to 2012, and the drawbacks of these models,
also listing some popular incidents in the past which indicates problems in drag estimation.
All the major applications of upper atmospheric models can be summarized in three major points:
precision orbit determination, debris characterization, and investigation of geophysical phenomena.
Among the above three, the first two applications are considered time critical. The data has to be
available within hours to be useful enough for these two applications. There have been numerous
upper atmospheric models developed, but the major ones are listed below [14]:

Mythbusters
There are many Computer Science myths that are propagated throughout modern media. These
technical myths can be seen as positive and sometimes negative. A big myth that is often propagated is
the idea of hacking as an individual. Hackers are seen to possess a sort of superpower that allows them
to hack anything alone. In movies and tv shows, hackers are shown to be able to infiltrate everything
from social media accounts to governments. I want to debunk the myth that hacking is not done
quickly by a single person like we see in the movies. Instead, to be the most effective, hackers form
groups which enables them to solve difficult problems in a timely manner.
In a clip from the movie Swordfish Stanley, a hacker, is forced to hack the Department of Justice. He
is forced to help by Gabriel, the antagonist, who puts a gun to his head. Gabriel says the best hackers
in the world are said to be able to do this in 60 minutes. I want you to do it in 60 seconds. In the end of
the scene, the hacker is able to complete the job in 60 seconds. This scene pushes forward the idea that
a single person can hack the government in less than one minute without preparation beforehand. This
myth is dangerous ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

They took over 100tb of data from it s servers. That data included emails between executives and even

Compare And Contrast Martin Luther King Jr And Malcolm X
The Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s and 1970s paved a way towards a more racially harmonious
America. Two famous men during this movement for the black community were Martin Luther King
Jr. and Malcolm X. Two very different men with two very different ideologies and two very different
strategies towards equality. One was credited as the Father of the Civil Rights Movement while
another one was a hostile extremist who encouraged violence only for self defense. Both men made an
impact on civil rights for the black community, but people were more gravitated towards King than
they were to Malcolm X. On August 28th, 1963; one of America s most memorable speakers gave one

and Malcolm X giving two completely different speeches, both had similar strengths in these

two men were very popular in their time and had many followers, but the people tended to gravitate
more towards King than Malcolm X. King knew how to make his speeches memorable, not just by
who wrote it but how he wrote it. King used metaphors, used repetition, and quoted well known
documents in his speeches. I have dream is a well known and remembered phrase in his speech, but is
not said until closer to the end of his speech. One hundred years later... and Now is the time... and let
freedom ring... are also phrases King repeats. By using repetition in his speech, he made it more
memorable to his audience and made the meaning of his speech clearer. Using metaphors painted a
more illustrated picture for his audience. King described America s promise of freedom as a check
marked insufficient funds, which made his speech more illustrated and therefore, more memorable to
his audience. Malcolm X used metaphors as well, though did not use as much repetition in his speech
like King did. Malcolm X s speeches, while just as powerful, were not as memorable. His main points
were expressed, that the Honorable Elijah Muhammad was a prophet and was the only means of
escape from the doomed White America. Malcolm X does not quote the Bible word for word but does
explain the prophets and their stories. The main prophet he uses is Moses, and he compares and
contrasts Moses to Elijah Muhammad. He compares how Pharaoh did not take Moses seriously and
that now White America is doing the same to Muhammad. Even comparing the Civil Right leaders to
the magicians Pharaoh hired to throw off Moses people. They have been hired by this white

Although each classification of natural disaster is capable of creating catastrophic destruction, I feel
that the destruction resulting from the accumulated factors that are responsible for Tsunamis have a
potential destructive force far greater than other singular forces of nature on their own; Furthermore,
due to the densely populated urbanized regions in high risk zones the potential impact on humans
form Tsunamis is elevated in comparison with other phenomena s which may occur with little impact

Atlantic Costal cities such as New York may not suffer from Tsunamis caused by mega thrusts along
submissive faults, Atlantic cities are still at risk of Tsunamis in some form. In 1929 a Tsunami hit the
coast of Newfoundland Canada which was caused by a massive underwater landslide on the

The biggest risk of Tsunamis is along the Pacific cost lines, Oceania and the Indian Ocean regions.

Comparing The Lone Ranger And Tonto Fistfight In Heaven
Based on the experiences and hardships of Native Americans in the United States, the stories featured
in The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven by Sherman Alexie display the escapades of Victor
and a few others such as Junior and Thomas. The collection of tales shows various stereotypes of
Native Americans that the author has identified with as aspects of his life such as drinking problems
within families. One of the main focuses of the book as a whole that was present in almost every story
was the relationship between Native Americans and other races. The Natives in the story almost
always inherently clashed with the whites of the story, however all was not well between other
minorities and even other Natives interacting with the protagonists. Race, whether it is Native
American, another minority, or white, does not determine the conflict and tension between two people
as displayed by Victor and Junior s interactions throughout The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in
Heaven. In the stories featured in Alexie s piece, damaging relationships between Natives and their
own families, neighbors, and peers can be seen. In the tale Every Little Hurricane , the toxic relations
between families and friends are exhibited as attendees of a party begin to fight. Victor s ... Show

life. Many people go through life, focusing on a big grand picture, but fail to enjoy the little moments
in life that make them happy for just a second or will amuse them for awhile. In my opinion, if you
live life worrying about what people think about you, or changing your lifestyle to fit in then you are
not really enjoying life.
I know this to be true because when I first moved to Heath, I was trying to fit in with people and made
myself more like them rather than show them who I truly am. I realized quickly that if they didn t like
me for me then they were not the people I should hang out with. When I got into high school, I was
acting more like myself and was enjoying the little things that made me laugh or made others laugh.
That ranged from being able to crack a joke sometimes to even just enjoying the music in the library
and dancing a little to have some fun. I really think that no matter what we do in life there should
always be some time to do things that are just fun and they don t have to be on a big scale of events.
One of the things I do is I compete in different athletic events, and there are times that the guys from
the team will all go do something and I will just take off and go on my own and sit to watch the world
around me, listening as the world carries on. Something I know that I am guilty of is living life in the
fast lane and not realizing

Glocalisation entails local and global activities acting simultaneously, where they would think globally
and act locally (Glocalisation, no date). By adapting to the local environment, the MNC could gain a
competitive advantage as an international brand as they would appear to take in to account the local
surroundings of their brand and they are more likely to be successful as they would be selling a
product that the local Indians would want. The MNC should internationalise to respond to the
megatrend of competitors, which is a deterministic force, and then compete through adaptation of their
product to suit the local surroundings in India. The strategy the MNC should consider after analysing
the demand conditions is to consider both price and value together. They should differentiate
themselves from other soft drink suppliers by offering a strong brand that young Indians are conscious
of (Soft Drinks in India, 2011) but also an acceptable price. Although there is a huge poor population
in India, if the MNC were to target Southern India as suggested after looking at the factor conditions,
research by the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs (2011) depict a large and growing middle
class population of India that have a disposable income of between $4,166 $20,833 per year; this
suggests that they could price their product in correspondence with the other brands

Carlos Hathcock Accomplishments
Gunnery Sergeant Carlos Hathcock was the most accurate Vietnam War sniper.
I was crawling... inch by inch, the goal in sight, I take aim and... Carlos Hathcock was very sneaky.
During the Vietnam War he was never caught before, during, or after a mission. Due to his experience
with hunting animals for his family lead him to be able to sneak, since he was a young boy. Hathcock
was extremely patient. Carlos could wait for hours or days just to take someone down, for example he

brutal torturing methods of US Marines and South Vietnamese Army (SVA) troops. She was killed by

Also, one of Hathcock most famous accomplishments was shooting an enemy sniper through the
enemy s own rifle scope, hitting him in the eye and killing him, Hathcock was stalking the enemy
sniper in the jungle near Hill 55. The sniper, known only as the Cobra, had already killed several
Marines and was believed to have been sent specifically to kill Hathcock. When Hathcock saw a flash

enemy s scope and killing the sniper. Hathcock concluded that the only true way he could have put the

My View On Public Speaking From Bob s Anthem
During your lifetime, you would be thrown many bricks. Many of them you would be able to build a
castle to show your success, but some of them can destroy your hard work. Unfortunately for me, I
thought that COMM 101 was going to destroy my life. I hated the thought of presenting in front
people. In many circumstances, I wish this class was not required. However, since the first day of
class, I began to have a feeling this class was not going to be like the rest. Bob, my professor, did not
want us to address him by his last name. He had also given all of us Burger King Crown, and to this
date I still wonder where he got a large amount of them. If you are willing to get past your fears, you
will be able to succeed in a communication class. In all honesty, there were three main components
that made me change my view on public speaking from Bob s anthem, My Personal Belief , to the
informal presentations, and the formal presentations. I have never had a class where a professor had
made an anthem for their students. Anthems can be used as a celebration or it can act as empowerment
for the people. Bob s anthem went like this, I believe in myself. I can do anything I put my mind to. I
have a personal power that guides me to create EVERYTHING that is good. My inner voice is my
best GPS. It guides me and I trust it. The only thing I have to do is spread my wing and soar. I AM
DESTINED FOR GREATNESS! It was a class necessity to say My Personal Belief in the beginning

Freudian Perspectives of Shakespeare s Hamlet Essay
Freudian Perspectives of Hamlet
The term consciousness refers to one s awareness of internal and external stimuli. The unconscious
contains thoughts, memories, and desires that are well below the surface of awareness but that
nonetheless exert great influence on behavior. (Weiten) The core of the Freudian perspective is
centered around Hamlet s relationship with his mother, and the relationship of Hamlet and King
Claudius. According to the Freudian view, Hamlet is driven by unconscious sexual desire and
aggravation. This sexual aggression is directed towards his mother and Claudius.

In doing so, one will come to the conclusion that Hamlet is driven by forces other than what is
obvious to the reader, as well as Hamlet himself. Given this example, one must denounce the
assumption that Hamlet is aware of the forces that motivate him, and understand that Hamlet s true
motivation is unconscious This unconscious force is the true reason behind Hamlet s mysterious
behavior. In naming this force, one must look beneath the surface of Hamlet s own level of
consciousness, and into what Hamlet himself is consciously unaware. The key to understanding
Hamlet lies in the realization of the unconscious energy that provokes him to action and inaction. By
channeling into Hamlet s unconscious, providing Freudian psychoanalytical perspectives, Hamlet s
true unconscious motivation will be uncovered, and the mystery of Hamlet will be silenced.

A Contrastive Analysis of Compliments in American English...
When a student gets a high score, his teacher usually says: Good job! . When a child automatically
cleans up the room after playing, her parents are likely to say: You are very good . When you go to
school wearing a new shirt, you probably hear from your friends: That shirt looks nice on you . Those
utterances are called compliments which are used to show that someone likes someone else s
appearance, belongings, or work etc. Due to different cultural background and social values, English
and Vietnamese native speakers have different norms of complimenting as well as responding to
compliments. In this essay, I will discuss the notion of compliment made in American English and

For example, when a host prepares a good meal, an English speaking guest will say The meal was
delicious . In the same situation, a Vietnamese guest will say Chị nấu ăn ngon quá! (You cook so

According to Maines and Wofson (1981), nine popular ways to give compliment are: NP is/looks
really ADJ. (Your blouse is beautiful) I really like/love NP. (I like your car) PRO is (really) (a) ADJ
NP. (That s a really nice wall hanging.) You V (a) really ADJ NP. (You did a really good job) You V

beautiful hair) What a ADJ NP! (What a lovely baby you have!) ADJ NP! (Nice game!) Isn t NP ADJ
(Isn t your ring beautiful?) The first three are also the most commonly used structures in many
countries worldwide. From the examples in part 2, we can easily see that Vietnamese also follow these
formulaic structures when we want to show our appreciation to hearers. One difference, however, is
that unlike American, Vietnamese rarely use the first person pronoun but the second person pronoun in
their compliments. That is to say they will not say I really like your new haircut . A more appropriate

successful we have to make sure we hire the right people for the organization. In this review we will
outline a job interview process and document the methods that we must use to select the right person
for the available positions. We will determine at least two employment laws that we must consider in
the process questions and examine the key ramifications of the organization s lack of enforcement of
said laws. The organization must predict three issues that we may encounter in building relationships
with each type of worker.
Also, management will examine two laws that must follow during the relationship process, and
specify the manner in which each law would help in the relationship building process. Finally, we will
evaluate the effectiveness of the organization s HR policies and processes that are designed to promote
a diverse workforce, we will outline a strategy for the organization that recognizes affirmative action,

discrimination within our organization.

In the 1980 s, game makers first created the reputed edutainment games which integrated video and

against video games, as it was believed that the games would affect players in a detrimental way. In
the early 1990 s, the business of the gaming industry was prospering, but all of a sudden the market

A Jobless Sticker
It all started out with a sticker. It wasn t just one, there were thousands of these big, white, rectangular

without a penny to his name to escape the dictatorship and created his very own company from

The Pros And Cons Of Hypertension
According to CDC (2016), one out of three American adults suffers from hypertension (HTN). This
accounts for about 75 million or 29% of the adult population in the United States. Uncontrolled HTN
is the leading cause of myocardial infarction, chronic kidney diseases (CKD), strokes, and
hypertensive heart diseases (HHD) (CDC, 2016). According to a report from CDC (2016), HTN costs
48.6 billion dollars including health care expenditures, medications and missed days of work.
According to the Texas Department of State Health Services (2013), among 26,448,196 residents of
Texas, 170.1 death rates related to HHD, 40.1 related to stroke and 15.9 related to CKD consecutively.
AHRQ (2013) health expenditure data demonstrates that the southern region of the United States,
which includes Texas, exceeded the average health expenditure for a hypertensive patient to a cost of
$805 per hypertensive person. Two recent peer review audits of twenty charts at Southmore Medical
Clinic revealed that we were practicing with only a 45% compliance rate with the Joint National
Committee (JNC) 8 guideline recommendations for managing HTN. In Southmore Clinic HTN
management protocol is based on JNC 6 guidelines and HTN parameters are more relaxed due to
patients noncompliance and the physician s laid back attitude. Therefore, the revision of existing
protocol and the aggressive management of HTN is recommended in conjunction with JNC 8

Essay about On Delacroix and Courbet
On Delacroix and Courbet The period surrounding 1781 to 1855 in France s history is united by social
and political change, an evolution of ideological struggles towards the best possible political struggle
amongst anchoring human faults. The life of the artist too underwent change and struggled with the
hierarchy that existed to validate artistic triumph. Changes are apparent amongst a broad spectrum,
including David, Ingres, history paintings and caricatures. Artists that demonstratively epitomize the
shifts, overwhelmingly united by a shift from acceptance to defiance, are Eugene Delacroix (1789
1863) and Gustave Courbet (1819 1877). Artistic and cultural differences that developed are

The Salon and its competitions dictated the motives of the artist. Delacroix s first winning painting
was Dante and Virgil in Hell (1822). This painting was indeed a success: the French believed
themselves to be a modern embodiment of the Classics, and Dante and Virgil reinforced this well
enough. The painting is deemed a revolution in itself. The colors blend together so much that the
painting is better understood from farther away than up close. Fans triumphed it s subject matter:
...romanticism will not consist in a perfect execution, but in a conception analogous to the ethical
disposition of the age. This painting, after the Divine Comedy, also embeds Delacroix in the literary
movement. This movement was vital to the overall organization of history painting, as a sharp literary
vocabulary of the painter was admired if not necessary. Delacroix has a fondness for Dante and
Shakespeare, two other great painters of human anguish. Delacroix concerned himself with grand,
tortured ideas. This literary fascination of Shakespeare, Bryon, Sir Walter Scott, etc. can be seen as a
departure from the classics into modernity even though it served as good grounding for him. The way
of Delacroix is a distinct, unique flair.
Although Delacroix was the youngest artist with works in the Louvre, his antagonistic paintings would
begin to receive more demanding criticism. Gros described one of his works as the massacre of the
painting. He depicted many scenes on

Is wine good for you? In moderation and as part of an overall healthy diet, the short answer is, yes!

The recent wealth of data should give us more confidence in a cause and effect relationship, but we
are not nearly to the point of proof. It took decades and hundreds of studies before the Surgeon
General was willing to declare that smoking causes cancer.] But it has been less clear just how alcohol
works to protect the body against heart disease and death. A new study from researchers at the
University Hospital of Zurich, Switzerland. identifies a mechanism for how alcohol favorably effects
arterial muscle cells. According to Wilhelm Vetter, M.D., and colleagues, alcohol, when consumed
around mealtime, reduces the proliferation of smooth muscle cells (SMC) within the arteries. SMC
growth is a key element in the development of atherosclerosis, which commonly leads to heart attacks
and strokes.
The study found that the ingestion of alcohol equivalent to two glasses of wine with a high fat meal
resulted in a 20% decrease in the growth of arterial muscle cells. Several researchers have suggested
that the apparent health benefits of wine ingested at mealtime may be due to the ability of alcohol and
other phenolic compounds in wine to counter adverse effects of fatty foods during the critical
digestive phase. Renaud has written of the positive effect of wine during meals on platelet
aggregation, finding that wine consumed with meals is absorbed more slowly and thus has a

Adele is many times too prideful to admit that she has forgotten things, such as her sons name, or what
day of the week it is. It is Adele s pride which also stopped her from telling her sons about her past.
This pride is conveyed by Merra near the end of the book, in her own remembrances of her childhood.
This is the seventies, Meera. This is Canada... You have endless opportunities for wealth and
happiness. Always make sure to capitalize. Always make sure to distinguish yourself. (157). This
quote mirrors Willys own assumption that because the American dream is available, it is certain that
he will achieve it if he works hard enough. Likewise, Meera is told by her mother that her new cultural
identity is Canadian, and her cultural identity of being black and a woman should not get in the way of

Things Happened Before The Industrial Revolution
Industrial Revolution Essay
When you look at the world today you see all the factory´s, manufacturing, and technology all around
you. These things would not have happened without the industrial revolution. I´m here to talk about
all of the changes that happened in the industrial revolution. Things like farming, factory and
manufacturing, and communication and transportation.
One of the biggest changes was farming, it was a huge thing before the industrial revolution. It just got
better after. One of the big inventions was the steel plow. The midwestern soil was to thick for normal
iron plows. John Deere made the steel plow to cut through that soil for more farming land. Another
invention was the mechanical reaper. This made farming faster by having the crops mechanically
harvested. That let the people who had to harvest them by hand able to do something else. The
mechanical reaper was invented by Cyrus McCormick, in 1831 it was a big step in the farming
industry. Finally the threshing machine, is a piece of farm equipment that threshes grain, it removes

The first invention was the steamboat. Before the steamboat everyone had to use the a boat with a sail
or paddle. The first successful steamboat was the Clermont, which was invented by Robert Fulton, in
1807. His invention made traveling on the water much faster than ever before. Another invention was
the telegraph. The telegraph was a to communicate with someone long distance. It worked by
transmitting electrical signals over a wire laid between stations. The telegraph was invented by
Samuel Morse in 1791. Finally the next improvement was all of the roads and canals being built. They
made roads out of crushed stone so that it was easier to travel around. Canals made shipping things

A Powerful Philosophy Of The Sacramento Technology Industry
A Powerful Philosophy He was much shorter than I expected when I met him; standing at only five
feet three inches. I had woken up that morning with a feeling of anticipation. Hundreds of questions
bounced around in my head and I was finally going to meet the guy whom I hoped had all the
answers. I quickly got dressed in my form fitting suit, ate breakfast, and then eagerly started the thirty
minute drive to Folsom. That afternoon I had lunch with Mr.Lokesh Sikaria. Mr.Sikaria is one of the
most prominent business men in the Sacramento technology industry and I reached out to him because
I was extremely interested in pursuing a similar career. Mr.Sikaria, who received a master s in
electrical engineering and a minor in business from the University of California Berkeley, initiated his
career at a small consulting firm. He quickly moved to a chief operator position at Rapidigm Inc
where he controlled millions of dollars in company revenue. A few years later, he started his own IT
consulting firm, which was wildly successful, and now operates a venture capital firm in Folsom
California. There is no doubt in my mind that Mr. Sikaria is very successful personally, but what really
makes him stand out is his ability to be successful personally and help the community at the same
time. The ability to do this is impressive and should be imitated by everyone in order to have a greater
impact on the world.
To succeed personally is to do and accomplish things that enhance your own

A Comparison Between Computer Programming And Java
A Comparison Between Computer Programming: Java and C++ in games industry 1.Introduction I
chose this topic because these languages are a relationship between programmers and computer
without those languages can t use the computer. Moreover, considered one of the models that I will
study in September at Swansea University. This is why I find this topic so interesting as it given a lot
of detailed information about two programming c++ and java in uses and its founders to explain how
they became so successful and why their programs are so brilliant. I admire the genius of these
successful two programs. Also, as a Mathematics and Computing for Finance student I feel that I
could learn so much from them. So, I shall keep a very close eye on their research and their result. The
purpose of the programming languages as Coded language to write information by programmers that a
computer could understand to do what the programmer wants. A computer language is used binary ( 1
and 0 ) code as call the machine language that a computer can execute instructions quickly without
any translator or interpreter program, but is complicated. The high level languages such as C++ and
java are very simpler for use, but it need to another program to transfer a high level code into a
computer language, for this are slower. There are many of programming languages are being always

Changes In Sweetheart Of The Song Tra Bong By Tim O Brien
Topic: War, change
Theme: War changes the soldier s personalities and perceptions.
Thesis: O Brien reveals that no matter what the circumstances were the people who were exposed to
the Vietnam War were greatly affected; O Brien showed this through the changes in Mary Anne Bell.
The Sweetheart of the Song Tra Bong , by Tim O Brien, is a short story about how Mark Fossie
brought Mary Anne Bell, his girlfriend, to the Vietnam War, thinking that this would be the best thing
for both of them. It turns out that Mary Anne s personality and appearance were drastically altered
during the war. This caused a change in their relationship. Mary Anne came into Vietnam being a pure
and curious young girl, but at the end story her personality changes to ... Show more content on

Mary Anne s character showed increasingly inhuman and savage tendencies. She wore a bush hat and
filthy green fatigues; she carried the standard M 16 automatic assault rifle. Her face was black with
charcoal (11). In this sentence, Tim O Brien described the changes that Mary Anne overcame from this
young pure girl to this indigenous person living in a harsh jungle by describing her attire, a bush hat,
M 16, and her face was black with charcoal. Through this sentence, Mary Anne, the character and
behavior of soldiers change throughout the war, because this pure girl does not turn into a indigenous
human like this without any reason. She was also a part of the land. She was wearing her culottes, her
pink sweater, and a necklace of human tongues (20). In this sentence, Mary Anne is seen as a
complete iron hearted and psychotic. Tim O Brien has a lot of implications in this sentence. First, a
human necklace human tongue (20) shows the character like an insane and heartless soldier changed
by war. She wears her culottes, her pink sweater (20), this sentence is externally shown to the soldiers
who want to go back to when they were pure. However, Tim O Brien also reveals the soldiers would
like to return to their former mental status after the Vietnam War, but the soldiers were already past the
point of no return, they lost their emotions and part of themselves. These the soldiers became too
dangerous due to the circumstances they had been

For Environmental Balance Pick Up A Rifle Analysis
For Environmental Balance, Pick Up a Rifle After reading For Environmental Balance, Pick Up a
Rifle by Nicholas D. Kristof I believe that hunting has many benefits to human society. Hunting will
lower the deer population, contribute to the economy, and feed hunters families.
To begin, hunting will dramatically lower the deer population as the bucks do not have a chance to
impregnate does, thus preventing an increase in the population. Additionally, the deer population will
decrease as hunters end the lives of deer before they end the lives of humans. I have personally
experienced the fear and disgust of hitting a deer. My mom was driving my six siblings and I home
from a family trip when the car in front of us hit a deer. Instead of stopping

Rational Emotive Behavioural Theory Essay
The following essay will consider that there is potential for rational emotive behavioural techniques to
be used within a person centred therapeutic relationship and that the person centred approach can be
attuned with the techniques connected with rational emotive behavioural therapy. The person centred
theory of counselling proposes that everyone has the ability to become a fully functioning person.
Reaching this goal should be a focal objective in therapy. The main hypothesis of rational emotive
behaviour therapy is that emotions branch primarily from an individual s beliefs, which then effects
the interpretations they make of the responses to life situations. Each theory has various techniques
that are aim to successfully achieve these objectives for the client. . Instead of viewing different
theoretical perspectives as separate units, it is important for a therapist to understand various theories,
so if required can combine ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Reaching this goal should be a focal objective in therapy (Rogers, 1961 as cited in Truscott, 2010).
The founder of person centred therapy, Carl Rogers, argues that deep down inside all people are
truthful, capable, can make positive changes, and are able to live successful and constructive lives
(Corey, 2013). This foundational idea on which person centred therapy is built on is known as an
actualising tendency (Cain, 2002). The person centred theory was responsible for a major change in
focus of therapy by concentrating on the person, rather than on their current issues (Cain, 2002).
Roger s proposed that the intention of therapy was not to find answers to the clients difficulties but
rather help with the development process so clients can manage problems when they are recognised
(Corey, 2013). By placing focus on helping change the personality of the person, it will assist the
client with any future issues that

The Influence Of Alexander The Siege Of Tyre
The invasion of Asia and the Persian Empire was a proving ground for Alexander to see if he could
live up to his father and cement his legacy. He lavished every type of victory that could be had except
for one that he thought would be stolen. Alexander had a chance to destroy the Persian army with a
surprise attack but decided to wait until they were prepared for battle, so it could be a well earned
victory. He wanted to win his battles outright and in the open with no trickery that would prevent
people from attributing him as the sole reason for victory. Along with other ego boosting actions, he
decided to dedicate a city in Egypt to himself, which was called Alexandria. Every king of any worth
needs to have a city named after himself, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moreover, after he finds out that Darius had been killed by someone in his inner circle, Alexander had
him buried and given the honors of previous Persian kings. However, Alexander participates in an act
that is reflective of what happened nearly 150 years prior. The Persian king Xerxes burned the city of
Athens and its temples to the ground. Likewise, Alexander did the same act on the city of Persepolis,
which did nothing short of destroy one of the major cities in all the Persian Empire. Arrian describes
that this was done against the pleas and wishes of his generals, but he continued with the destruction.
Alexander also recovered a vast amount of treasures that had been stolen from mainland Greece
during the 5th century. He retook many talents of silver and gold, and statues of Greek heroes such as
Harmodius and Aristogeiton. It seems that he was indeed following through with punishing the
Persians for their past transgressions. Contrastingly enough, Alexander sported Persian garb near the
twilight of his life to help establish himself as a Persian King. Arrian said: So also with his adoption of
Persian dress. I see this as a political device aimed at both constituencies to show the barbarians that
their king was not a wholly alien figure, and as a sign to the Macedonians that he was distancing
himself from the national

Satan in Paradise Lost
Seeing Satan in a different light in Paradise Lost Satan is a character that has been ridiculed and teased
in our modern world because of his symbolization of evil, combined with the underlying hypothesis
that good will always triumph over evil ultimately questioning and mocking his presence. In Paradise
Lost John Milton frays from the typical view of Satan as the devil on your shoulder by having the
readers absorbed in the idea that they actually feel sympathetic towards this evil creature. Within lines
605 645 in Book 1 Milton humanizes Satan on a level that the readers can relate, which aids to their
view of sympathy towards him. These lines establish a struggle within Satan and illustrate his
banishment from Heaven, which brought him ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Here the reader sees Satan describing how God doesn t have to do anything, he accomplished
something once and is now valued while Satan has to constantly try and justify himself. God is held
up by old repute , that he will sit on his thrown and won t be touched because he is God and there is no
hope for Satan to overcome this reputation. When Satan goes on to tell the reader that God just being
God tempted our attempt, and wrought our fall (1.642) he is providing the image of going into battle.
Ultimately it wasn t his fault he had to perform such a task but it was God s old repute that made him
go forth with the battle. That maybe then Satan would get his own solid image instead of being
compared to various towers [without the implication of there always being a taller one]. It is through
these humanizing images presented that the reader is able to feel sympathy towards someone who is
said to be feared due to his excess evil. By looking at Satan through different eyes it is although he
becomes somewhat relatable to humans and suggests that he is misunderstood. That possibly there is

Analysis Of The Film Snowpiercer
The plot in the film Snowpiercer, directed by Bong Joon Ho, follows lead actor Chris Evans, who
stated in reference to the film, I absolutely think it should be seen on a big screen. But I read
something where someone from RADiUS that said, A screen is a screen is a screen (Daniels). This
quote is significant because it relates to the current expansion of entertainment delivery systems in the
world. Nonetheless, Snowpiercer is a film that was directed for the cinema screen. When it was
released in 2013, the film made approximately eighty seven billion dollars internationally, and it was
considered one of the first films of the year in the competition for an Oscar (Pomerantz). Furthermore,
this film was produced by SnowPiercer, Moho Film, Opus Pictures, Stillking Films, and CJ
Entertainment ( Snowpiercer ). In terms of the story, the setting of Snowpiercer is 2031where the
entire earth is frozen except for a train and its survivors. The train is divided into a class system where
the poor are at the back of the train, and the wealthy are at the front. With this to say, the poor are
treated appallingly, forced to live in cramped and dirty spaces, and are given scarce supplies of food.
Thus, the story follows Curtis, led by actor Chris Evans, as he devises a revolt from the back of the
train to fight through the enemies guarding the front (Snowpiercer). Snowpiercer is a diverse film
adaptation that uses vivid imagery and a compelling narrative to exemplify the spectacle,

How Technology Is The New Reality All Around The World
Future of IoT
IoT is quickly becoming the new reality all around the world. The creation of IoT devices are expected
to triple in the next few years (Rossolillo 2016). The IoT appliances include everything from
autonomous cars to smart tattoos. As the gadgets change the technology and platforms used
disseminate the information will also change and become more refined through Narrowband IoT. The
future of the internet of things is expected to bring significant improvement to individual lives,
corporations, and the global gross domestic product (GDP).
Trajectory of the internet Things
Since the beginning of time humans have created and made innovative products that push the
boundaries of evolution and are at the edge of technology. As a society we have paraded around many
of the technologies to improve our lives as well as our family s lives. Despite this the problem that
many companies are having today in selling their products is the consumer is asking: Why do I need
this? Companies that carry luxury and expensive products are now looking to take luxury products and
make them everyday products (Klein 2016).
Apple watch is a prime example of an IoT product and spin off product not faring the best in the
industry. When the Apple watch first arrived on the market it left several people fascinated, but it also
left a considerable amount of people asking why they need a smart watch when they already have an

An Overview of Mutual Funds
Mutual Funds Mutual Funds have become increasingly popular in the last 20 years, with the number
of investors rising to 80 million people. This adds up to half the households in America owning

which signify a partial ownership on the fund. Making Money off Mutual Funds Seeing as funds are a
collection of stocks and bonds, investors tend to receive dividends on the stocks and interest on the

Huichol Tribe Religion
In many cultures around the world, plants have a strong spiritual symbolism. The Huichol tribe of
Mexico, for example, a plant called peyote has symbolic significance, as it produces spiritual
experiences which allegedly allow its users to connect with their Gods and ancestors. Mescaline, the
active ingredient in peyote, creates vivid dreamscapes and hallucinations. For the Huichol people,
finding peyote is a laborious and sacred task so each year, they go on a pilgrimage to Wirikuta, also
known as the Path of Freedom. During this pilgrimage, which occurs during the drought season after
the maize harvest, the Huichol people undergo spiritual rituals and also stop at various religious sites
along the way. Once they reach Wirikuta, the Huichol travelers gather peyote. Some are used
immediately and the rest is brought back for the tribe. The Huichols believe they are always with

  • 2. The House Of The Scorpions Analysis Throughout both The House of the Scorpions and On the Doctrine of the Feeling of Power, there are many differences. These two articles are like comparing apples to broccoli as Mrs. White, my eighth grade gifted English teacher, puts it. However, once you dig down deeper into the meaning of these writings, you can find many similarities not easily seen on the surface. Conceiving of power, as Nietzsche puts it, is more of a deceitful process. Nietzsche s process might be more for someone who is looked at with little power. In other words, his process is more intended for power hungry people. I believe that power should be obtained in respect and harmony. Obviously, my way will take longer to move up the scale of power, but it is the only way to do it without ending ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One way that people use benefiting is, if someone is running for class president or any other thing that is controlled by the people s vote then the runner might hand out cookies, stickers, anything the voter will like. They do this in order to get people on their side so they can win the election against their opponent enemy. Obviously, they are not doing this in a negative way, all they are thinking about is winning. This shows that sometimes you can be deceitful without even realizing it. An example of pain is when a parent is punishing their child. The parent hates this process, but they know it is the best thing to do for their child. All they want is to mature their child into a well formed human being. As you can see, Nietzsche s ways are used in everyday life without us even knowing it. As you can see, there are many more similarities than seen on the surface. Both novels express high levels of power, and how to gain that power. Both show lots of symbolism. Now you can see why it is better not judge a book or article by its ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Summary Of Kotter sOur Iceberg Is Melting In Our Iceberg Is Melting, Kotter s means 5 Empowering Others to Act, and 6 Produce Short Term Wins are exhibited in a base up movement, particularly while considering Step 5 Empowering Others to Act. When Louis (Head Penguin) acknowledged there was legitimacy to Fred s worries about their ice sheet home, he started the procedures of enabling others by his movement of trust in the activities exhibited by Alice and Buddy. Mate shows his comprehension of youth control to realize change by enabling the individuals who did not have the immediate energy to achieve change. In building up the arrangement, Buddy s significant part in the arrangement was to converse with the kindergarten instructor. This prompted the kindergarten educator to tell the understudies stories of courageous activity to help other people under troublesome and evolving conditions (Kotter and Rathgeber, 2006, p.94). This without a doubt drove the adolescent to consider ways they could effectuate change, which Alice later found when she experienced kindergarten understudy Sally Ann. Alice strengthened the seeds of progress that had been planted by Buddy s underlying discussion with the kindergarten educator, the kindergarten instructor s courageous stories sustained the planted seed, and Sally Ann s cooperation with Alice showed the growing of strengthening. These previously mentioned activities set the establishment for Stage 6 Produce Short Term Wins when the scouts chosen to strike out and find ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. In Today’S Global Market, China Is One, If Not The World’S In today s global market, China is one, if not the world s most important player. When China s economy is doing well, the majority of the world s economies tend to do the same. When China s economy is slow, the rest of the world usually follows. At the start of the 2016 year, China s stock market declined by 7% (Best). Stock markets in Europe, Asia, and the United States quickly followed the trend. It is clear that when China slows down, its trade partners follow. China affects a lot of countries. Three examples include oil, commodities, and trade (Best). When there is not a lot of supply of a certain item, the prices usually skyrocket and the supplier benefits. On the flipside, when there is oversupply, the economy can suffer. This is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After the war, Mao Zedong took over China in 1949 (BBC History Mao Zedong). Shortly after, China s influence in the global economy declined. China s involvement in the global economy was only 5% during his rule (Holodny). This happened as a result from Mao Zedong implementing The Great Leap Forward in 1958, and the Cultural Revolution in 1966. The Great Leap Forward was an attempt to modernize China s economy so that it could match up with the economy of the United States by around 1988 (Trueman). He saw potential growth in agriculture and industry. His reasoning for choosing agriculture and industry was that one could not blossom without the other. Agriculture needed industry because they needed the best machinery and equipment to succeed, while the industry would prosper if it was fed well by agriculture. To do this, the government took complete control. Schools, tools, retirement homes, entertainment, and healthcare were all provided by the government (Trueman). This would ensure all the people could work. After the first year, everything seemed great according to plan. Things would turn around at the start of 1959. In 1959, the government wanted its people to work faster to produce more products. This caused workers to work long hours every day. Due to the quick production, the goods lacked quality. From that movie theatre a few years back, to the church shooting earlier this year, mass shootings are starting to become a little bit too common. One would think that this fact would lead to better gun ownership laws, but it has not affected them all that much. Too many Americans have rioted when the mere whisper of stricter laws escapes the mouths of any of their fellow people. Stricter laws on the ownership and usage of firearms should be considered, for it would reduce mass shootings, less violent crimes would be committed, and more lives would be saved from the potential danger. • 6. The Dynamic Role In Music During The Romantic Period Araceli Jaramillo Professor Rudolph Intro To Music Mul. 1010 20 June, 2017 The dynamic role of Women in Music during the Romantic Period. Usually when people judge romance they assume of dating, but the Romantic Period was not about dating, it was a time of great emotion, creativity, imagination, adventure, and was a time of political revolution. Romanticism originated in Western Europe in the second half of the 18th century, and gained much strength during the Industrial Revolution. This era was a time of great change, and unlike the Classical era, the Romantic era allowed artistic creativity, freedom, and experimentation. The Romantic Period brought a flood of women who began writing and expressing themselves through literary works. Women increased recognition during the romantic era. They devolved into music teachers, composers, singers and performers. Although they were still in the opposition of music professions, the women in this era opened the doors for opportunities in the future. A few dominant impacts were Pauline Viardot, Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel, and Clara Schumann. They even had some of their works published. (Young: 235 237) Women have been active participants in the musical world since antiquity, but discussions of their efforts have traditionally been neglected in favor of those of male musicians. The integration of quantitative and qualitative data maximizes the strengths and minimizes the weaknesses of each type of data to ensure validity and reliability. The two forms of data collection were interviews and questionnaires. Mixed methods was chosen to gain better insight into the issue. This will help to compare, validate or triangulate results and in doing so may help to identify trends and outcomes, Plano Clark, (2010). The aim of this journal is to assess attitudes of senior rugby players with regards to safety and performance during the tackle, therefore the researcher thought close ended questions would be most appropriate. This in fact makes answering of the questionnaire less demanding for the subjects involved. Each question consisted of the question, and response categories. A 5 point Likert scale was used to enable the researcher to measure the significance, frequency and size of each item. For measuring players attitude, subjects involved had to rate the significance of each question on the following scale: (1) not at all important, (2) not too important, (3) undecided, (4) somewhat important, (5) very important, ( Hendricks et al, 2011). • 9. Integrating Quotes Into Paper Tips on Introducing Quotes General Principles Writers use quotations for a variety of purposes: to argue with another author s definition of a term, to provide statistical evidence or testimony to validate a claim; to present the reader with a statement we wish to refute or discuss in detail. If writers overdo and include too many quotations in a research essay, readers will form the negative impression that the authors of those sources are more authoritative than the writer of the research paper. Often the voices of those authorities drown out the writer s voice, in a sense taking over authorship of the paper. For instance, picture the high school child who has a passion for history and struggles through any math course. This child would take courses such as American History, World History, Sociology, Psychology, and American literature. By high school, the foundation of all subjects has been taught and the children have a sense of what subjects they excel at, and they know what subjects they will never use outside of high school. We see a lot of religion cited in this poem and then we also see a kind of dark side of that which would be death. In this poem, John Donne elevates this poem by the way he structures it as well as the language and situation. The language is so important to understand because it can convey a message that is deeper than just the words. We see a lot of words that very common in this poem however, they are placed in a unique way that most likely someone will have to go back and reread to grasp what is being said. It is clear that the line is speaking about death, it is pretty common that death is taking seriously and in which we would be serious when speaking on it. John Donne also uses alliterations throughout this poem along with repetition. congregation to come , the church is catholic , are examples of alliteration he used. the action concerns me , for whom this bell tolls are used as repetition. The structure stands out to me mainly in the fact that there are no stanzas nor paragraph indentions. • 14. Use Of Upper Atmospheric Density Models The use of upper atmospheric density models is essential for orbit determination and geophysical research. This data plays an important role in understanding the exosphere, and can contribute to monitoring of next solar cycle. One of the major applications of studying upper atmospheric density models and their changes with the solar cycles is to track and identify active satellites as well as debris in the low earth orbit (LEO) and other higher orbits. Collision avoidance and reentry prediction for large debris and satellites are important data which can be derived as a result of precise estimation of drag. For satellites meant to be in its orbit for a significant time, it is important to know when the satellites need a drag make up maneuver, and also for mission planning. This section talks about the density models developed from the dawn of space race to 2012, and the drawbacks of these models, also listing some popular incidents in the past which indicates problems in drag estimation. All the major applications of upper atmospheric models can be summarized in three major points: precision orbit determination, debris characterization, and investigation of geophysical phenomena. Among the above three, the first two applications are considered time critical. The data has to be available within hours to be useful enough for these two applications. There have been numerous upper atmospheric models developed, but the major ones are listed below [14]: COSPAR International ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. Computer Science Mythbusters Research Paper Dailton Rabelo CS305 Mythbusters There are many Computer Science myths that are propagated throughout modern media. These technical myths can be seen as positive and sometimes negative. A big myth that is often propagated is the idea of hacking as an individual. Hackers are seen to possess a sort of superpower that allows them to hack anything alone. In movies and tv shows, hackers are shown to be able to infiltrate everything from social media accounts to governments. I want to debunk the myth that hacking is not done quickly by a single person like we see in the movies. Instead, to be the most effective, hackers form groups which enables them to solve difficult problems in a timely manner. In a clip from the movie Swordfish Stanley, a hacker, is forced to hack the Department of Justice. He is forced to help by Gabriel, the antagonist, who puts a gun to his head. Gabriel says the best hackers in the world are said to be able to do this in 60 minutes. I want you to do it in 60 seconds. In the end of the scene, the hacker is able to complete the job in 60 seconds. This scene pushes forward the idea that a single person can hack the government in less than one minute without preparation beforehand. This myth is dangerous ... Two very different men with two very different ideologies and two very different strategies towards equality. I have dream is a well known and remembered phrase in his speech, but is not said until closer to the end of his speech. One hundred years later... and Now is the time... and let freedom ring... are also phrases King repeats. By using repetition in his speech, he made it more memorable to his audience and made the meaning of his speech clearer. Using metaphors painted a more illustrated picture for his audience. King described America s promise of freedom as a check marked insufficient funds, which made his speech more illustrated and therefore, more memorable to his audience. Malcolm X used metaphors as well, though did not use as much repetition in his speech like King did. Malcolm X s speeches, while just as powerful, were not as memorable. His main points were expressed, that the Honorable Elijah Muhammad was a prophet and was the only means of escape from the doomed White America. Malcolm X does not quote the Bible word for word but does explain the prophets and their stories. The main prophet he uses is Moses, and he compares and contrasts Moses to Elijah Muhammad. The collection of tales shows various stereotypes of Native Americans that the author has identified with as aspects of his life such as drinking problems within families. One of the main focuses of the book as a whole that was present in almost every story was the relationship between Native Americans and other races. The Natives in the story almost always inherently clashed with the whites of the story, however all was not well between other minorities and even other Natives interacting with the protagonists. Many people go through life, focusing on a big grand picture, but fail to enjoy the little moments in life that make them happy for just a second or will amuse them for awhile. In my opinion, if you live life worrying about what people think about you, or changing your lifestyle to fit in then you are not really enjoying life. I know this to be true because when I first moved to Heath, I was trying to fit in with people and made myself more like them rather than show them who I truly am. I realized quickly that if they didn t like me for me then they were not the people I should hang out with. When I got into high school, I was acting more like myself and was enjoying the little things that made me laugh or made others laugh. That ranged from being able to crack a joke sometimes to even just enjoying the music in the library and dancing a little to have some fun. I really think that no matter what we do in life there should always be some time to do things that are just fun and they don t have to be on a big scale of events. One of the things I do is I compete in different athletic events, and there are times that the guys from the team will all go do something and I will just take off and go on my own and sit to watch the world around me, listening as the world carries on. • 37. Essay about On Delacroix and Courbet On Delacroix and Courbet The period surrounding 1781 to 1855 in France s history is united by social and political change, an evolution of ideological struggles towards the best possible political struggle amongst anchoring human faults. The life of the artist too underwent change and struggled with the hierarchy that existed to validate artistic triumph. Changes are apparent amongst a broad spectrum, including David, Ingres, history paintings and caricatures. Artists that demonstratively epitomize the shifts, overwhelmingly united by a shift from acceptance to defiance, are Eugene Delacroix (1789 1863) and Gustave Courbet (1819 1877). Delacroix s first winning painting was Dante and Virgil in Hell (1822). This painting was indeed a success: the French believed themselves to be a modern embodiment of the Classics, and Dante and Virgil reinforced this well enough. The painting is deemed a revolution in itself. The colors blend together so much that the painting is better understood from farther away than up close. Fans triumphed it s subject matter: ...romanticism will not consist in a perfect execution, but in a conception analogous to the ethical disposition of the age. This painting, after the Divine Comedy, also embeds Delacroix in the literary movement. This movement was vital to the overall organization of history painting, as a sharp literary vocabulary of the painter was admired if not necessary. Delacroix has a fondness for Dante and Shakespeare, two other great painters of human anguish. Delacroix concerned himself with grand, tortured ideas. This literary fascination of Shakespeare, Bryon, Sir Walter Scott, etc. can be seen as a departure from the classics into modernity even though it served as good grounding for him. The way of Delacroix is a distinct, unique flair. Although Delacroix was the youngest artist with works in the Louvre, his antagonistic paintings would begin to receive more demanding criticism. It took decades and hundreds of studies before the Surgeon General was willing to declare that smoking causes cancer.] But it has been less clear just how alcohol works to protect the body against heart disease and death. A new study from researchers at the University Hospital of Zurich, Switzerland. identifies a mechanism for how alcohol favorably effects arterial muscle cells. According to Wilhelm Vetter, M.D., and colleagues, alcohol, when consumed around mealtime, reduces the proliferation of smooth muscle cells (SMC) within the arteries. SMC growth is a key element in the development of atherosclerosis, which commonly leads to heart attacks and strokes. The study found that the ingestion of alcohol equivalent to two glasses of wine with a high fat meal resulted in a 20% decrease in the growth of arterial muscle cells. Several researchers have suggested that the apparent health benefits of wine ingested at mealtime may be due to the ability of alcohol and other phenolic compounds in wine to counter adverse effects of fatty foods during the critical digestive phase. Renaud has written of the positive effect of wine during meals on platelet aggregation, finding that wine consumed with meals is absorbed more slowly and thus has a prolonged effect on blood ...
