Similarities Between Animal Farm And Mouseland
Honore de Balzac once said Equality may perhaps be a right, but no power on it can ever turn it into a
fact. This quote connects to the theme With power there s never true equality. Because although
equality should be a given, while there is power present in society, it will never happen. Animal Farm
by George Orwell is a novel about a farm that is overtaken by its animals. They assign one pig,
Napoleon, to power. He began to only benefit the pigs and the other animals were often oppressed.
Mouseland by Tommy Douglas is a story about cats leading a town of mice, and making rules that
only benefitted the cat, and endangered the mice. The common theme in both these stories is similar to
the theme the quote presented, With power there s never true equality. The authors of both Animal
Farm and Mouseland use the narrative techniques of conflict and characterization to illustrate political
messages about power and equality.
The first narrative technique used to illustrate the theme was conflict. One example of theme being
illustrated through conflict was in Animal Farm when the pigs stole all the milk and apples from the
other animals. On page 36 of the novel it says It is for your sake that we drink that milk and eat those
apples. Do you know what would happen if we pigs failed out duty? Jones would come back! This
quote shows the pigs manipulating the other animals into believing that them taking the milk and
apples is benefitting them by saying if they didn t eat

The Backgrounds of the Code
The backgrounds of the Code The current Code of UK Corporate Governance is actually a new name
of combined code that has been published in January 2003 and then been updated in 2010. It actually
comes from the Cadbury Report of 1992 which is a report of the Committee on the Financial Aspects
of Corporate Governance that was attached in a Code of Best Practice. In the first place, it was an
extra developed through a succession of re working and then was determined that the previous
governance approvals ought to be revised and brought along in a very single code The purpose of the
Code The Code is divided into a few principles which are main principles, supporting principles and
provisions. It is mentioned in the first principle of the Code that each company need to have an
effective board to lead. The board s quality and adequacy is extensively seen as a condition for
consistent achievement and it must be evaluated alongside the distinctive parts. The effectiveness is
determined by directors. The Code likewise states that there is no singular ought to have unbound
forces of choice making. This could be kept away from by part the parts of executive and CEO, and
indicates what the part of the administrator ought to be. For both main and supporting principles, an
organization needs to state how they apply those standards. In view of the Code prerequisites, an

Hairspray The Musical
Hairspray the musical was based out of the 1960 s, and dealt with current issues for the time, like race,
women s rights, religion and pop culture, and the rise of technology. Dance was used in the film and
musical performance, as most musicals have dance numbers. Hairspray used the dance performances
mostly in the show on the film. In some cases, the cast danced as a rebellion, or to show how the
character was changing their point of view. Quite a few of the dance moves involved hips, and
shoulders, the dances also had quite interesting names like mashed potato, and the twist. Those two
dance moves were created to liberate and recreate the way the world danced (Dance Style of the 60s).

It was nominated for Best Motion Picture in the comedy genre of the Golden Globes, and did win
Movies for Grownups award for best grownup love story. That was John Travolta and Christopher

and the movie won Top Box Office Film at the ASCAP Awards. Hairspray had more nominations than
anything, and compared to the wins, it was quite low. The music, to be fair, is not that spectacular, but
still entertaining none the less. Good Morning Baltimore is one of the more memorable songs, as it is
the opening number, and gives the audience a pretty good idea of the scene, and where it takes place.
You also get a good look at how the characters are going to be perceived by how they act in the first
number. Most of the music in the film have a sort of blues vibe, but also pop, so kind of an alternative
genre. In one song in particular, Ladies Choice, it sexualizes the main male lead, Link, as he calls
himself the ladies choice. It seems as if no matter what the main purpose of a film is, there is always
going to be a romance, and an attractive male role who makes all the girls swoon over. Welcome to the

The Problem Of Chest Pain
Since most people in our society consider chest pain to be of a cardiac origin, pediatric chest pain can
not only be scary the child, but can also cause anxiety for the parents due to the fear of their child s
condition. Luckily, many causes of chest pain are usually benign and rarely can be a sign of cardiac
disease. With this in mind, providers should complete a preliminary evaluation for chest pain, decide
on differential diagnoses, and than develop an appropriate plan. Providers should also be aware of the
most likely causes of chest pain in children, which include reactive airway disease, musculoskeletal
pain, esophagitis, gastritis, and functional pain (Hay, Levin, Deterding, Abzug, 2014). Will all of those
in mind, by far the most common cause in children is chest pain from a musculoskeletal injury. The
initial evaluation should include a detailed history and physical examination to help guide the provider
to the proper workup, and rarely is there a need for laboratory tests or evaluation by a specialist (Hay,
Levin, Deterding, Abzug, 2014). First finding out when the pain started, last month, last year, and so
forth, will be of high importance, then once a time frame is establish, details about the most recent
episode should be obtained. The provider should ask how long the pain lasted, what made it
better, made it worse, and then move on to what brought on the pain, with arm movement, breathing,
dizziness, particular activity and so forth. Once the cause

The Health Care Provider Ordered An Hiv Test Based On The...
The health care provider ordered an HIV test based on the patient s narrative and his positive TB
status. Tuberculosis infection is frequently an initial indication of HIV infection. Therefore, it is
routine to test patients with TB for HIV. Also, the patient complains of being run down and sick all of
the time, which could be a sign that his immune system is impaired.
The presence of any other opportunistic infections or malignancies may also be indicative of HIV.
Opportunistic infections occur when typically harmless microorganisms are able to cause disease in
individuals who are immunocompromised. Common opportunistic infections in HIV positive patients
include: Pneumocystis jiroveci pneumonia, candidiasis, toxoplasmosis, diarrhea caused by
Cryptosporidium parvum, progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML) caused by the JC virus,
and many others. Kaposi sarcoma, an opportunistic malignancy, is a major indicator of HIV infection.
This cancer occurs only in individuals who are severely immunocompromised and manifests as
lesions on the skin and mucous membranes.
Mr. A s statement reflects the need for further education about HIV transmission. The nurse should
inform Mr. A that HIV is primarily spread through unprotected sexual intercourse and by sharing
contaminated needles for intravenous drug use. Individuals engaging in risky sexual behaviors (e.g.
unprotected anal intercourse) are at highest risk for contracting HIV, regardless of sexual orientation.

Search For The Right Way Of Life In Herman Hesse s Siddhartha
Siddhartha
Lap Topic #6
By: Jose Guerra
Due: 11/30/2017
Jose Guerra 11/30/17
We go on day by day in search for the right way of life, but whose right is it to tell us how we live?
Who is to tell us right from wrong? In many cultures, religion dictates what people perceive to be
moral and not. Although religion is accepted into the lifestyle of many, what happens to those that do
not find fulfillment in the words of the people preaching these beliefs? In the book Siddhartha by
Herman Hesse, the life of the protagonist named Siddhartha is expressed through his issues to find
satisfaction in teachings. He didn t find fulfillment in the words of others, not of his father, not the
oldest samana, not even the Sublime One(the Buddha). The novel takes you through every step of his
life and at the end of the book there is an ironic message. The message contradicts everything he
believed that was going to aid him on this journey to Nirvana which surprises the readers.
The novel begins in the early stages of Siddhartha s life. He was a brahmin s son which meant he was
in an upper class compared to most. As a young man he had everything, he had the life that many
dreamed. His life was that of someone that was easily envied, but in reality he wasn t living the perfect
life. He was dissatisfied with the teachings of the brahmins and he didn t find fulfillment in their
words although he was a pandit. He mastered their teachings but couldn t master their meaning.

Malathion Risk Assessment
The purpose of this assessment is to help distinguish whether or not the use of Malathion is a risk to
human health if it were to be used for the purpose of Mosquito control.
It would be helpful to address what Malathion is exactly, other than a mosquito killer. 1 It is an
insecticide that is part of the chemical family know as organophosphates. Organophosphate are
thought to be a safer alternative than chlorinated hydrocarbons, such as DDT. Malathion degrades into
the environment quickly and does not bio accumulate and bio magnify.
2 In terms of Mosquito control, Malathion is an adulticide. It targets and kills adult mosquitoes on
contact, therefore being a highly effective means to eradicate mosquito annoyances.

2 At a severe high dose, as with any organophosphate, it can cause convulsions, respiratory paralysis,
and even death.
Exposure assessment:
5 How much of the pollutant are people exposed to during a specific time period, and how many
people are exposed?
8 Exposure effects of Malathion on our health as humans and our environment depend on how much
pesticide is present and the length and frequency of the exposure. This dependency would also include
the consideration of the overall health of the people, or person, and the factors of the environment.
Our consideration includes a population of 20,000 people and a timeline for application of June
through August, 2016.
Risk characterization:
6 What is the extra risk of health problems in the exposed population?
The extra risk would be the concern for carcinogenicity. Researchers found no evidence of increased
cancer in rats and mice that were fed Malathion over a two year period. 3 Rats and mice that were fed
high doses of Malathion developed liver cancer. 9 There is no sufficient evidence to assess human
carcinogenic potential by all routes of exposure, though the United States Environmental Protection
Agency (U.S. EPA) has determined there is suggestive evidence of

The Eye And Laser Eye Surgery Essay
A Functioning Eye (Emmetropia)
The eye is the organ of sight. It is used in almost everything we do, from playing sport to reading. A
normal and well functioning eye can focus objects and images, both near and far, perceive depth and
adapt to changes in light.
The perception of depth is due to having two separate eyes creating two separate images, while the
ability to adapt to light change is attributed to the iris and the dilator muscles. However these two
aspects of the eye are not involved in laser eye surgery and will not be discussed in reference. The
focusing of objects and images is very much part of laser eye surgery. In order for a clear visual image

Refractive surgery is a term for several procedures designed to treat these vision abnormalities.
Eye Defects
Myopia is the refractive condition where the farthest point of focus is located at a point near to the
observer, and not at infinity. When one is nearsighted, distance vision is blurred at all times while near
vision is often excellent within a certain range. There are a number of explanations for this optical
condition. The eyeball may be too long, causing the image to be focused short of the retina at the back
of the eye. Or, the focusing lenses of the eye are too strong.
The primary focusing lens is the cornea, the clear window at the very front of your eye. The internal
lens, called the crystalline lens, is adjustable and alters your focus from distance to near. Sometimes,
one of these two lenses may have a radius of curvature that is too steep. In myopia, it is often the
cornea that is too highly curved. It is this curvature which is altered in laser eye surgery. Shortening
the eyeball has been tried, but it has not been without the potential of serious and permanent damage.
Often in situations where the crystalline lens is forced into an excessive plus power curvature, myopia
can result. This may occur from near vision stress, a

Influences On Musical Notation In The Middle Ages
A brief essay on two influences on musical notation in the middle ages
Modern musical notation as we know it can be directly credited to the Catholic Church. The Catholic
church being a primary influence in Western history, the church had many resources and was source of
education. While there are a variety of rudimentary music notations pre 9th century the foundation of
music notation as we know it is due to an Italian Benedictine monk, Guido de Azzero, who invented
solfege, a vocal scale we know as do, re, mi, fa, so, la, ti, do but was introduced as ut, re, mi, fa, sol,
la. This scale was a huge breakthrough for vocalists that were struggling to learn new chants in the late
900 s but has had a lasting effect as this is the same scale vocalists use today. Along with this he
introduced the four line staff, a fifth would be added as music became more complex. Now vocalists
could read the pitch, and learning new pieces of chant became a much easier task. But how long
should those notes be held? We have the pitch and scale, but when does the vocalist move on to the
next note without guessing or being prompted? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This treatise had a wide influence on composers for it clarity and logic, specifically in regards to note
duration which is that a notes shape could indicate its length. Franco of Cologne introduced the longa,
brevis, and the semibrevis, the semibreve becoming the modern whole note. With this composers
could write music with rhythmic variety. Thus we are introduced to the foundation of mensural
notation, that would become the modern bar notation. Although there are no known surviving pieces
of music by Franco of Cologne, a form of motet was named after him, the Franconian Motet, an
example of this is Amours mi font/En mai/Flos filius

Academic Self Efficacy Beliefs And Quality Of Experience
Review of an article on learning theory: Academic Self Efficacy Beliefs and Quality of Experience In
Learning INTRODUCTION Learning Theory In education and psychology, learning is generally
defined as a practice that collectively brings together emotional, cognitive and environmental
influences as well as earlier experiences for obtaining, improving, or even making changes in
someone s knowledge, values, skills and also world views (Fisher, 2005). Learning is a process that
mostly focuses on what occurs when learning happens. The explanation of what happens is
distinctively illustrated in the learning theories. A learning theory is formulated as an attempt to
describe how human beings and animals learn. This helps to understand the fundamentally complex
process of learning. These learning theories comprise of two important values (Fisher, 2005). The first
one is in providing terms and a conceptual outline for deducing the examples of learning that are
observed. The other value is important when suggesting where and how to look for solutions for
practical problems. The theories may not give the desired solutions, but they direct people s attention
to the variables that are essential when finding solutions, (Hergenhahn, 2005). Learning theory is
therefore, an abstract framework telling how information is absorbed in the brain, how it is processed
and retained during learning activities. It involves cognitive, environmental, emotional influences and
prior experiences are all

Drug Trafficking Organizations And Drugs
Drug Trafficking Organizations
Imagine living in a place where you can kill anyone you wish and nothing happens except that they
fall dead (Morris 216). With drug trafficking organizations people in Mexico live in a world where
this is part of their everyday lives. More than 16,600 deaths were attributed to drug trafficking in 2011
(Schedler 6). People live in a world like the Wild West where there seems to be no social control. This
is a problem because innocent people are losing their lives over something that they can not control.
Citizens throughout Mexico have learned to live with the consequences of organized crime caused by
the Mexican drug cartels in their day to day lives.
Drug Trafficking Organizations, otherwise called DTO, are organizations that engage in criminal
activity revolving around the illegal drug trade. According to Andreas Schedler in his article, The
Criminal Subversion of Mexican Democracy, this criminal activity includes the manufacturing of
drugs all the way to the distribution of them all over the world (9). This is important because if it was
not for drug trafficking and the crimes associated with it, there would not be as much violence in
Mexican society. Furthermore, the process of manufacturing drugs likely involves many other illegal
activities like the use of dangerous chemicals, access to firearms along with other dangerous weapons,
and theft.
There are many DTO s in the country of Mexico. Some have been around for centuries, while

simplest of human activities can alter the climates to change. Humans are not the only climate drivers.
There are also natural factors ( How Much Does Human Activity Affect Climate Change? ). The earth
is changing due to the climate changes . For future generations the earth may perhaps look different
(Nuccitelli). Human activity is advancing global climate change rapidly. Humans are the main factor
in the ongoing climate change. Many daily activities contribute to climate change. These activities
include the burning of fossil fuels ( A Blanket Around the Earth ). Co2 is the main heat trapping gas (
How Do We Know That Humans Are the Major Cause of Global Warming? ). Humans produce a lot a
CO2 every day. When individuals burn fuel, CO2 is released into the atmosphere. The fuels that are
being released are jumbling with earth s natural greenhouse gasses. For every gallon of gas that is
burned, 1300 times that of CO2 is released. Also a gallon gas weighs 6lbs, but the CO2 that is released
weights over 19lbs ( How Much Does Human Activity Affect Climate Change? ). CO2 is also emitted
from farms, landfills, and power plants, which are all human run facilities ( How Do We Know That
Humans Are the Major Cause of Global Warming? ). Human activities can also alter earths
reflectivity. When we construct roads and farm we alter earth s reflectivity. This causes sunlight to

Mark Strand s Use Of Praise In Poetry
In the poem From a Litany by Mark Strand, the world praise is used quite a bit. On the other hand in
Jane Kenyon s Let Evening Come , the word praise is never used but is instead inferred in the poem.
The word praise can actually mean a variety of different things depending on the context; here it is
used to mean admiration. The two poems overlap in the sense that they have a feeling of letting go or
a mellowing out quality that gives the reader a sense of sadness from the author. Both poems depict a
scene of morning to night, or beginning of life to death; thought they have collected after many long
years on earth. Although the similarities are striking in both poems, there are both diverse in there own
way. Both poem expressed admirations for the small things in life. They both mention the sun, sky,
and the ground specifically in their texts. For example in Strand poem he says, ... I praise the sky... I
praise the wind, the rising generations of air... I praise the clocks... All of these things come into play
in our daily lives so why do they get so much attention from Strand? ... Show more content on

The Building Blocks Of Learning
Emily Whitmer Rose Glasser EDTP 201 10/28/16 Ethnography: The Building Blocks of Learning I
remember my first day going to a school to observe. It felt more inquiring, rather than being obligated
to go to school just because I had to, like the state required us to. Ever since I have been given two
field placements, I have been increasingly interested in the teaching profession. My first field
placement has been an eye opener for all other rolls in a school. It has showed me just how important
other rolls are in a school, and how they can affect and tie into how a student does in a classroom.
Having two field placements has given me a new outlook on the classroom environment, curriculum,
and what goes on behind the scenes in the teaching profession. In my second field placement, which is
what this ethnography will evolve around, I was placed at Blue Lick Elementary School (right next to
Knight Middle School). Blue Lick Elementary School collaborates with Knight Middle School, to
ease the transition to 6th grade. This school is located in Heritage Creek, which is also close to my
first placement, Fairdale High School. The population in this neighborhood is low income. There are
480 students and the student teacher ratio is 16:1. Blue Lick Elementary School is a public co ed
school and accepts grades pre kindergarten to 5th grade. At Blue Lick Elementary School, 66% of the
students are white. The next majority of the students are black, which is 25% on a pie chart. Only 2%

Cabaret Movie Comparison
After watching both of the films for this week I definitely noticed a difference in the film narratives
due to musical numbers and how they were integrated. While watching 42nd Street, the musical
numbers were quite confusing to me. I struggled to understand how they provided context to the film.
As I did not see how they fit within the storyline of the films. I also believe the disconnection between
the numbers and the film made me question, the films event s and I thought I misunderstood certain
moments in the film because the musical numbers did not make sense. I also did not enjoy the fact that
during the numbers themselves there was dialogue going on and the focus shifted during the number. I
think this lessened the impact of the number ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was as if the focus was the music numbers opposed to the films, which in my opinion is the best part
of a musical. I enjoyed watching the numbers and seeing the elaborate costumes and details that were
put into them. Furthermore, in Cabaret, one could tell that the music numbers really fit in with the film
and provided more insight into what was going on. A good example of this was the during the musical
number Maybe This Time sung by Sally which demonstrated her relationship with Brian and how it
has evolved. Their relationship turned into more than a friendship and as the number goes on Sally
sings of the hope she has of this relationship being the real deal and withstanding the test of
time.Through this musical number the audience is able to understood how Sally is feeling without the
use of any actual dialogue. I do believe there is some relation between the context of integration/non
integration and the contexts in which the films were made. 42nd Street was created during the Great
Depression and it seems as if there was some caution in terms of the film was made. It seems as if the
events of the film were more so on the safe side and no feathers were

Introduction
The Grignard reaction is an important synthetic process by which a new carbon to carbon bond is
formed. Magnesium metal is first reacted with an organic halide forming the Grignard reagent. The
Grignard reaction is the addition of an organomagnesium halide (Grignard reagent) to a ketone or
aldehyde, to form a tertiary or secondary alcohol, respectively. For example, the reaction with
formaldehyde leads to a primary alcohol. Grignard Reagents are also used in the following important

Brealy Chapter 23
Answers to Practice Questions
1. Downward sloping. This is because high coupon bonds provide a greater proportion of their cash
flows in the early years. In essence, a high coupon bond is a shorter bond than a low coupon bond of
the same maturity.
2. The key here is to find a combination of these two bonds (i.e., a portfolio of bonds) that has a cash
flow only at t = 6. Then, knowing the price of the portfolio and the cash flow at t = 6, we can calculate
the 6 year spot rate.
We begin by specifying the cash flows of each bond and using these and their yields to calculate their
current prices:
Investment Yield C1 . . . C5 C6 Price
6% bond 12% 60 . . . 60 1,060 $753.32
10% bond 8% 100 . . . 100 1,100 $1,092.46 From the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
5%, five year note: 3. 10%, five year note: d. First, we calculate the yield for each of the two bonds.
For the 5% bond, this means solving for r in the following equation: r = 0.05964 = 5.964% For the
10% bond: r = 0.05937 = 5.937% The yield depends upon both the coupon payment and the spot rate
at the time of the coupon payment. The 10% bond has a slightly greater proportion of its total
payments coming earlier, when interest rates are low, than does the 5% bond. Thus, the yield of the
10% bond is slightly lower.
e. The yield to maturity on a five year zero coupon bond is the five year spot rate, here 6.00%.
f. First, we find the price of the five year annuity, assuming that the annual payment is $1:
Now we find the yield to maturity for this annuity:
r = 0.05745 = 5.745%
g. The yield on the five year Treasury note lies between the yield on a five year zero coupon bond and
the yield on a 5 year annuity because the cash flows of the Treasury bond lie between the cash flows
of these other two financial instruments. That is, the annuity has fixed, equal payments, the zero
coupon bond has one payment at the end, and the bond s payments are a combination of these.
7. A 6 year spot rate of 4.8 percent implies a negative forward rate: (1.0486/1.065) 1 = 0.010 = 1.0%
To make money, you could borrow $1,000 for 6 years at 4.8 percent and lend $990 for 5 years at 6
percent. The

The Experience Of Enslavement To Africans And Europeans
Experience of Enslavement to Africans and Europeans
Enslavement was a one of the horrors that the Africans endured to help them survive in a foreign area.
The Africans did not have a choice becoming a slave thus acting like a piece of property for the people
that would ensure that they would incriminate the people. Enslavement was a challenge to the black
people that made it difficult for them to lead their normal lives because they were rooted from their
families and dumped in a new country where they had to oblige to the commands of their owner.
According to Equiano, the Africans had to cross the Atlantic Ocean under the boats where they had
confinements like animals unfit for human survival (1789) . Numerous of them died on the way from
diseases, hunger among other reasons and they would dump them into the sea leaving them there as
food for the fishes which is inhumane. Slavery was difficult because it was not a voluntary act thus
denying people the choice to make their independent decisions.
Enslavement led to separation of the Africans from their families back at home and even the families
that they started while in the United States. Some of the slaves had their families in the United States
and they did not preside over their care because their owners could take their sons to work as butlers
while the girls in the kitchen or act as concubines to the owners. In some cases, some of the children
would be sold to other parts at a good price without consideration their

her readers to scratch procreation and then examines the theory that, marriage is the way women

healthy relationship can contribute to an individual s attainment of goals, moral construction, and
perception of society. Interpersonal relationships have traditionally been regarded as one of the major
determinants of health and well being (Paat). But what constitutes a healthy relationship? In Raymond
Carver s Cathedral a man and his wife on the surface have a rocky relationship that seems to be
teetering on the husband s impartiality to his wife and the wife s resentment towards her husband s

Individualism And Ralph Waldo Emerson
Ralph Waldo Emerson was an American poet during the 1800 s who identified himself as a
Transcendentalist. Self Reliance is one of Emerson s most famous works that is widely known and
was published after his death in 1882. Emerson s works influenced other writers like Henry David
Thoreau who was a close friend of Emerson. Resistance to Civil Government is one of Thoreau s most
famous works. Although Emerson influenced Thoreau with his works and they were close friends,
both of them had two different ideas on the individuality of humans and their way of life. Emerson
believed that individuals conform to society and others when they should follow their own way of life,
instincts, and ideas. Thoreau thought less towards society and more towards the government. He
believed that individual conscience is more important than an unjust government and the laws they
created. Self Reliance is an essay on the lack of individualism in a person in society and the reasons
behind why individuals do not think for themselves. He states that because of our consciousness of
how others will react towards us is one of the reasons we do not think for ourselves and let our
individuality show. We but half express ourselves, and are ashamed of that divine idea which each of
us represents, (Emerson 1164). As humans, we only show a few of our emotions or hardly explain
how we feel to others because we feel ashamed of our emotions and our thoughts. He does not say it,

Building A Successful Business Empire

All businesses aim to be successful and well off; but this does not just happen by the snap of your
fingers, rather needs to be organized in each possible step.
One of the main steps to this is; management. Thus, I shall begin by defining and explaining what
management itself is.
Management according to Management Innovations, 2008, is the process of reaching organizational
goals by working with and through people and other organizational resources . This statement
basically says that when a company wans to achieve certain goal(s), they will have to work together as
a team so that everything is organized, and the team must have a leader to rule it in the correct path.

MANAGEMENT PHILOSOPHIES; these are different strategies that leaders choose to use to lead
their group, so that they would be motivated to work and how each employee should be treated. The
main function of management philosophy is to make the decision making process fast and efficient.
(Management Philosophy, Business Dictionary, 2015)
A couple of management philosophies are classical management, behavioral management,
quantitative, systems, contingency and quality.
I will talk about 2 management theories and also about their advantages and disadvantages (pros and
cons).
1) BEHAVIOURAL APPROACH;
This is also known as human relation movement. In this type of school, the theorists believe that they
should try to understand the different factors that may influence the human behavior of an employee at
work. (School of thought management, 2011)
There are some theorists who have investigated onto this theory. one of them is; Elton Mayo; he
believed that workers were not just motivated by they pay they get, but would be more motivated if
their social needs are satisfied alongside working. He concluded by saying that employees work better
in groups, and they are motivated by the good available communication between themselves and their
managers. (Behavioral Management, Cliff Notes, 2015)
Advantages;
a) Work satisfaction; it will motivate them to work hard and will be satisfied since they will be getting
benefits alongside the pay.
b) Increased self

Piece Of Equipment Essay
Introduction
I have been asked to design and build a piece of equipment using the available apparatus that follows
the diagram below.
The design we came up with is in the picture below and the reason I came up with this simple design
is because it seemed the easiest in order to do the simple job.
The components we used were
240v main supply
This was simply a lead that came from the house mains and plugged into an adapter that brought the
amps down to 3amp as the circuit wasn t going to need a lot of current to work and then plugged into
the transformer.
Transformer
I then used a transformer to change the voltage from 240v ac down to 15v ac. The way the transformer
works is that there is current passed through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2 of these pins were used for the coil labelled a1 a2 and the other 6 pins were used for normally open
and normally closed contacts.
Limit Switch
We used 2 limit switches that also stopped the circuit if the yaw point went too far they would push
the limit switch and stop the relays that powered the motor.
Motor
The motor we used was a 12v dc motor. This motor moved both clockwise and anticlockwise when
polarity was changed through the way the relays are wired.
When we wired up this circuit and done a few tests on it we found that because it was a dc circuit it
had some voltage drop. We done a calculation to figure out what would be the best size of capacitor
we could put into the circuit in order to smooth it out.
This is the calculation we done.
Capisator size = C=IxT/V
I = Current
T= Time 50hz per second
V= change in voltage
C= 0.5A x 0.02/15
=0.5x0.001333
=0.0006F
= 667uF
We then placed 1x 470uF and 2x 100uF capacitor in parallel and tested the wave form again and it
showed a more clear and steady wave than before. We then knew we had this problem sorted.
When it came to wiring the circuit, I realised that all we need was 12v to power the relay and motor
but the motor was going far too fast so what I done was put a voltage regulator that changed the
voltage from 15v dc to 5v dc which I then used to power the motor. However, I still used the 12v dc to
power the coil on the relay as if I didn t do this the coil on

Number Systems Complex Numbers The earliest reference to complex numbers is from Hero of
Alexandria s work Stereometrica in the 1st century AD, where he contemplates the volume of a
frustum of a pyramid.
The proper study first came about in the 16th century when algebraic answers for roots of cubics and
quartics were revealed by Italian mathematicians Tartaglia and Cardano. For example, Tartaglia s
formula for a cubic equation x^3=x gives the solution as 1/√3 ((√( 1))^(1/3)+1/(√( 1))^(1/3) ). ... Show

For example, the treatment of resistors, capacitors, and inductors are unified by combining them in a
single complex number called the impedance, which is the measure of the opposition that a circuit
presents to a current when a certain voltage is applied.
Algebra The Quadratic Formula Early methods for solving quadratic equations were purely geometric.
Babylonian tablets contained problems which could be reduced to solving quadratic equations. The
Egyptian Berlin Papyrus (2050 1650 BC) contains the solution to a two term quadratic equation.
Euclid (300 BC) used geometric methods to solve quadratic equations in his book Elements.
In Arithmetica, Diophantus (250 BC) solved quadratic equations with methods which more closely
resembled algebra. However, his solution only gave one root, even when both roots are positive.
Brahmagupta (597 668 AD) explicitly described the quadratic formula in words instead of symbols in
Brahmasphutasiddhanta in 628 AD. His solution of ax^2+bx=c equated to the formula: x=(√(4ac+b^2
) b)/2a
In the 9th century, Persian mathematician al Khwarizmi solved quadratic equations algebraically.
The quadratic formula which covered all cases was first described by Simon Stevin in 1594.
The quadratic formula that we know today was published by Rene Descartes in La Geometrie in 1637.
The first appearance of the general solution in modern mathematical literature was in an 1896 paper

Prostitution, The Act Of Prostitution
Prostitution, the act of providing or receiving sexual acts, between a prostitute and a client, in
exchange for money or some other form of remuneration (Hock 557). The idea of exchanging sex for
valuables has been seen since the beginning of human society; the first reported data about prostitution

different types of prostitutes and different ways to exchange sexual services for payment. An example
of a type of prostitute is brothel workers; brothel workers work in a house of prostitution, a brothel,

Liberal, Conservative, and Socialist Ideals vs. Feminism before the 20th Century
Tales from the beyond, story one: a parent binds his baby girl s feet in China, so it will not grow more
than five to six inches because small feet in women are a sign of elegance; story two: a wife is burned
alive in India, so she can accompany her husband in death. Are these stories? No, things like this
really happened in the past. They are part of the reason that contributed to the birth of the Women s
Movement in the 19th century. This movement was also known as the Feminist movement because its
foundation came from feminism, an ideology that developed in the 19th century, and whose main goal
was to gain equality for women. The goals of the Women s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

They valued the stability of the political, and social structure, and therefore believed that changes that
could affect it should be gradual, and very well thought. For the feminist, this made them the enemy
since they were trying to preserve the very structure that had placed women, in the traditional role, the
feminist movement was trying to change. Feminist wanted radical change, changes to match the
progress that was going on in the world, and that was creating new roles for women. Conservatives
opposed progress; they said that if something was not broken, and it had work fine until now, it should
not be change, it should be respected, and preserve.
Religion was another aspect that created great difficulties for feminist in conservative countries.
Conservatives were very religious. They believe that man where sinful creatures, so whatever they did
could only cause harm, people that proposed any kind of big change, even if it was for the better of the
people it was the representation of the devil himself. The tradition of the church has always placed
women in the role of caretaker. Women were meant to be at home, and their main purpose is to have
children, and take care of them, so their fear of feminist was inevitable, and there for any conservative
country would make it very difficult for the women s movement to develop.

How Is Julius Caesar Justified
Friends turn on each other all the time, but not like Brutus and Caesar. William Shakespeare s play,
Julius Caesar revolves around Caesar s assassination and the outcomes surrounding it. Brutus is one of
Caesar s closest friends but is convinced to help murder him. The murder takes place before Caesar
gains controls of Rome, as a measure of preemptive action. Brutus s precautionary action against
Caesar is not justified because he does not have proof, Caesar is a good man, and it makes things
worse for Rome. Though Caesar receives over thirty stab wounds, there is not one reason for
murdering him. Many people believe he wants to be a dictator, but they have no proof of this claim.
During the first act, Casca explains to Cassius and Brutus what all the commotion is, I saw Mark
Antony offer him a crown..he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At Caesar s funeral, Antony proves how good Caesar really was. In his will, he left seventy five
drachmas to each citizen as well as all of his property. When the citizens hear this, they immediately
want to avenge his death, We ll burn his body in the holy place, And with the brands fire the traitors
houses (3.2.244 245). The citizens realize what a mistake it is to kill a great man and ruler like Caesar
and even take matters into their own hands, saying they will burn down houses and erupt in chaos.
The citizens are not the only ones who are saddened by Caesar s death, Brutus is as well. Brutus s
guilt haunts him with ghosts of Caesar visiting him in his sleep multiple times. The first time he sees
the ghost he does not believe it, he asks Lucius, Didst thou dream, Lucius, that thou so criedst out? To
which Lucius answers, My lord, I did not know that I did cry, (4.3.301 302). If Brutus believes he
made the right decision he would not be haunted by Caesar s ghost. Brutus even believes that Caesar
is a good man, which is why he feels so much

Starbucks Company Analysis
SYNOPSIS Starbucks Corporation, originally founded in 1971, but purchased by Howard Schultz in
1987, is the market leader in selling gourmet coffee (Starbucks, 2008). Starbuck s main objective is to
establish itself as the most respected and recognized coffee brand in the world (Fact Sheet, 2008).
Starbucks has accomplished this objective and experienced much success through their competitive
strategy of clustering several stores within the same community and through their distinctive
competencies of roasting and selling the quality coffee while providing high quality customer service.
The question is, can Starbucks continue their market share growth with rising competitors? Should
they focus more on their international operations? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fair trade coffee also bypasses the coffee trader, therefore giving the producer higher profits. Fair
trade coffee growers are guaranteed a minimum price of $1.26 per pound for their coffee. If the world
coffee prices rise above this floor price, farmers will be paid a small premium $0.05 per pound above
market price (Coffee Research Institute, 2006). This contributes to helping coffee farmers stay out of
debt and provides some stability for both producers and sellers of coffee to an unstable market (Coffee
Research Institute, 2006). Environmentally, the main negative impacts from coffee production include
habitat conversion, soil degradation, pesticide use, and declines in water quality (WWF, 2005). The
most serious impact of coffee cultivation continues to be the conversion of natural forest areas into
flatlands in order to plant coffee. Unfortunately, a driving force of habitat conversion is the increasing
market for high grade specialty coffees (WWF, 2005). Many companies, however, like Starbucks,
work with local farmers to ensure the best economic return and least detrimental environmental
impacts as possible. It is true that recent trends in the coffee industry point to a decline in demand and
sales revenues; in general, coffee

Aubrey Malphurs (2003) believes that those who lead set the example to those who follow. Someone
showing religious leadership also demonstrates the capabilities of a good follower. One using the
belief system of this writer would understand what a follower is through Biblical Scripture. but the
one who is the greatest among you must become like the youngest, and the leader like the servant.
Luke 22:26 In other words a leader who serves is worth following but a leader who does not serve is
not worth following, especially someone who follows self. Religious leadership can also describe a
group of people following a particular belief system and having influence over others. Examples
would be the Southern Baptist Convention or the Evangelical Church Alliance and many others.
Although a particular group of people may not set out to provide religious leadership, they do lead by
making decisions for members in that particular group. It could be considered a selective form of
religious leadership.
If a religious leader is one who influences others to follow a particular set of beliefs, then someone
who does not influence others should not be considered as one who provides leadership. Within the
Christian faith there are Pastors, Bishops, Priest, Elders, Deacons and other positions of authority. A
position within a religious organization does not give on the power to provide religious

  • 2. Similarities Between Animal Farm And Mouseland Honore de Balzac once said Equality may perhaps be a right, but no power on it can ever turn it into a fact. This quote connects to the theme With power there s never true equality. Because although equality should be a given, while there is power present in society, it will never happen. Animal Farm by George Orwell is a novel about a farm that is overtaken by its animals. They assign one pig, Napoleon, to power. He began to only benefit the pigs and the other animals were often oppressed. Mouseland by Tommy Douglas is a story about cats leading a town of mice, and making rules that only benefitted the cat, and endangered the mice. The common theme in both these stories is similar to the theme the quote presented, With power there s never true equality. The authors of both Animal Farm and Mouseland use the narrative techniques of conflict and characterization to illustrate political messages about power and equality. The first narrative technique used to illustrate the theme was conflict. One example of theme being illustrated through conflict was in Animal Farm when the pigs stole all the milk and apples from the other animals. On page 36 of the novel it says It is for your sake that we drink that milk and eat those apples. Do you know what would happen if we pigs failed out duty? Jones would come back! This quote shows the pigs manipulating the other animals into believing that them taking the milk and apples is benefitting them by saying if they didn t eat ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Problem Of Chest Pain Since most people in our society consider chest pain to be of a cardiac origin, pediatric chest pain can not only be scary the child, but can also cause anxiety for the parents due to the fear of their child s condition. Luckily, many causes of chest pain are usually benign and rarely can be a sign of cardiac disease. Search For The Right Way Of Life In Herman Hesse s Siddhartha Siddhartha Lap Topic #6 By: Jose Guerra Due: 11/30/2017 Jose Guerra 11/30/17 We go on day by day in search for the right way of life, but whose right is it to tell us how we live? Who is to tell us right from wrong? In many cultures, religion dictates what people perceive to be moral and not. Although religion is accepted into the lifestyle of many, what happens to those that do not find fulfillment in the words of the people preaching these beliefs? In the book Siddhartha by Herman Hesse, the life of the protagonist named Siddhartha is expressed through his issues to find satisfaction in teachings. He didn t find fulfillment in the words of others, not of his father, not the oldest samana, not even the Sublime One(the Buddha). The novel takes you through every step of his life and at the end of the book there is an ironic message. The message contradicts everything he believed that was going to aid him on this journey to Nirvana which surprises the readers. The novel begins in the early stages of Siddhartha s life. He was a brahmin s son which meant he was in an upper class compared to most. As a young man he had everything, he had the life that many dreamed. His life was that of someone that was easily envied, but in reality he wasn t living the perfect life. He was dissatisfied with the teachings of the brahmins and he didn t find fulfillment in their words although he was a pandit. He mastered their teachings but couldn t master their meaning. ... The perception of depth is due to having two separate eyes creating two separate images, while the ability to adapt to light change is attributed to the iris and the dilator muscles. Eye Defects Myopia is the refractive condition where the farthest point of focus is located at a point near to the observer, and not at infinity. When one is nearsighted, distance vision is blurred at all times while near vision is often excellent within a certain range. There are a number of explanations for this optical condition. The eyeball may be too long, causing the image to be focused short of the retina at the back of the eye. Or, the focusing lenses of the eye are too strong. The primary focusing lens is the cornea, the clear window at the very front of your eye. The internal lens, called the crystalline lens, is adjustable and alters your focus from distance to near. Sometimes, one of these two lenses may have a radius of curvature that is too steep. In myopia, it is often the cornea that is too highly curved. It is this curvature which is altered in laser eye surgery. Shortening the eyeball has been tried, but it has not been without the potential of serious and permanent damage. Often in situations where the crystalline lens is forced into an excessive plus power curvature, myopia can result. This may occur from near vision stress, a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Influences On Musical Notation In The Middle Ages A brief essay on two influences on musical notation in the middle ages Modern musical notation as we know it can be directly credited to the Catholic Church. The Catholic church being a primary influence in Western history, the church had many resources and was source of education. While there are a variety of rudimentary music notations pre 9th century the foundation of music notation as we know it is due to an Italian Benedictine monk, Guido de Azzero, who invented solfege, a vocal scale we know as do, re, mi, fa, so, la, ti, do but was introduced as ut, re, mi, fa, sol, la. This scale was a huge breakthrough for vocalists that were struggling to learn new chants in the late 900 s but has had a lasting effect as this is the same scale vocalists use today. Along with this he introduced the four line staff, a fifth would be added as music became more complex. Now vocalists could read the pitch, and learning new pieces of chant became a much easier task. But how long should those notes be held? We have the pitch and scale, but when does the vocalist move on to the next note without guessing or being prompted? ... Academic Self Efficacy Beliefs And Quality Of Experience Review of an article on learning theory: Academic Self Efficacy Beliefs and Quality of Experience In Learning INTRODUCTION Learning Theory In education and psychology, learning is generally defined as a practice that collectively brings together emotional, cognitive and environmental influences as well as earlier experiences for obtaining, improving, or even making changes in someone s knowledge, values, skills and also world views (Fisher, 2005). Learning is a process that mostly focuses on what occurs when learning happens. The explanation of what happens is distinctively illustrated in the learning theories. A learning theory is formulated as an attempt to describe how human beings and animals learn. This helps to understand the fundamentally complex process of learning. These learning theories comprise of two important values (Fisher, 2005). The first one is in providing terms and a conceptual outline for deducing the examples of learning that are observed. The other value is important when suggesting where and how to look for solutions for practical problems. The theories may not give the desired solutions, but they direct people s attention to the variables that are essential when finding solutions, (Hergenhahn, 2005). Learning theory is therefore, an abstract framework telling how information is absorbed in the brain, how it is processed and retained during learning activities. According to Andreas Schedler in his article, The Criminal Subversion of Mexican Democracy, this criminal activity includes the manufacturing of drugs all the way to the distribution of them all over the world (9). This is important because if it was not for drug trafficking and the crimes associated with it, there would not be as much violence in Mexican society. It felt more inquiring, rather than being obligated to go to school just because I had to, like the state required us to. Ever since I have been given two field placements, I have been increasingly interested in the teaching profession. My first field placement has been an eye opener for all other rolls in a school. It has showed me just how important other rolls are in a school, and how they can affect and tie into how a student does in a classroom. Having two field placements has given me a new outlook on the classroom environment, curriculum, and what goes on behind the scenes in the teaching profession. In my second field placement, which is what this ethnography will evolve around, I was placed at Blue Lick Elementary School (right next to Knight Middle School). • 25. Cabaret Movie Comparison After watching both of the films for this week I definitely noticed a difference in the film narratives due to musical numbers and how they were integrated. While watching 42nd Street, the musical numbers were quite confusing to me. I struggled to understand how they provided context to the film. As I did not see how they fit within the storyline of the films. I also believe the disconnection between the numbers and the film made me question, the films event s and I thought I misunderstood certain moments in the film because the musical numbers did not make sense. I also did not enjoy the fact that during the numbers themselves there was dialogue going on and the focus shifted during the number. I think this lessened the impact of the number ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was as if the focus was the music numbers opposed to the films, which in my opinion is the best part of a musical. I enjoyed watching the numbers and seeing the elaborate costumes and details that were put into them. Furthermore, in Cabaret, one could tell that the music numbers really fit in with the film and provided more insight into what was going on. A good example of this was the during the musical number Maybe This Time sung by Sally which demonstrated her relationship with Brian and how it has evolved. Their relationship turned into more than a friendship and as the number goes on Sally sings of the hope she has of this relationship being the real deal and withstanding the test of time.Through this musical number the audience is able to understood how Sally is feeling without the use of any actual dialogue. I do believe there is some relation between the context of integration/non integration and the contexts in which the films were made. 42nd Street was created during the Great Depression and it seems as if there was some caution in terms of the film was made. The simple pleasures that Shepardson got from nature is are rare to find now. Poway is no longer a quaint little farming town, San Diego as a whole is slowly blossoming into a metropolitan area. In essence, a high coupon bond is a shorter bond than a low coupon bond of the same maturity. 2. The key here is to find a combination of these two bonds (i.e., a portfolio of bonds) that has a cash flow only at t = 6. Then, knowing the price of the portfolio and the cash flow at t = 6, we can calculate the 6 year spot rate. We begin by specifying the cash flows of each bond and using these and their yields to calculate their current prices: Investment Yield C1 . . . C5 C6 Price 6% bond 12% 60 . . . 60 1,060 $753.32 10% bond 8% 100 . . . 100 1,100 $1,092.46 From the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 5%, five year note: 3. 10%, five year note: d. First, we calculate the yield for each of the two bonds. For the 5% bond, this means solving for r in the following equation: r = 0.05964 = 5.964% For the 10% bond: r = 0.05937 = 5.937% The yield depends upon both the coupon payment and the spot rate at the time of the coupon payment. The 10% bond has a slightly greater proportion of its total payments coming earlier, when interest rates are low, than does the 5% bond. Thus, the yield of the 10% bond is slightly lower. e. The yield to maturity on a five year zero coupon bond is the five year spot rate, here 6.00%. f. First, we find the price of the five year annuity, assuming that the annual payment is $1: Now we find the yield to maturity for this annuity: r = 0.05745 = 5.745% g. The yield on the five year Treasury note lies between the yield on a five year zero coupon bond and the yield on a 5 year annuity because the cash flows of the Treasury bond lie between the cash flows of these other two financial instruments. That is, the annuity has fixed, equal payments, the zero coupon bond has one payment at the end, and the bond s payments are a combination of these. 7. A 6 year spot rate of 4.8 percent implies a negative forward rate: (1.0486/1.065) 1 = 0.010 = 1.0% To make money, you could borrow $1,000 for 6 years at 4.8 percent and lend $990 for 5 years at 6 percent. The Experience Of Enslavement To Africans And Europeans Experience of Enslavement to Africans and Europeans Enslavement was a one of the horrors that the Africans endured to help them survive in a foreign area. The Africans did not have a choice becoming a slave thus acting like a piece of property for the people that would ensure that they would incriminate the people. Enslavement was a challenge to the black people that made it difficult for them to lead their normal lives because they were rooted from their families and dumped in a new country where they had to oblige to the commands of their owner. According to Equiano, the Africans had to cross the Atlantic Ocean under the boats where they had confinements like animals unfit for human survival (1789) . Numerous of them died on the way from diseases, hunger among other reasons and they would dump them into the sea leaving them there as food for the fishes which is inhumane. Slavery was difficult because it was not a voluntary act thus denying people the choice to make their independent decisions. Enslavement led to separation of the Africans from their families back at home and even the families that they started while in the United States. Some of the slaves had their families in the United States and they did not preside over their care because their owners could take their sons to work as butlers while the girls in the kitchen or act as concubines to the owners. It is this mutual benefit where a healthy relationship can contribute to an individual s attainment of goals, moral construction, and perception of society. Interpersonal relationships have traditionally been regarded as one of the major determinants of health and well being (Paat). But what constitutes a healthy relationship? Self Reliance is one of Emerson s most famous works that is widely known and was published after his death in 1882. Emerson s works influenced other writers like Henry David Thoreau who was a close friend of Emerson. Resistance to Civil Government is one of Thoreau s most famous works. Although Emerson influenced Thoreau with his works and they were close friends, both of them had two different ideas on the individuality of humans and their way of life. Emerson believed that individuals conform to society and others when they should follow their own way of life, instincts, and ideas. Thoreau thought less towards society and more towards the government. He believed that individual conscience is more important than an unjust government and the laws they created. Self Reliance is an essay on the lack of individualism in a person in society and the reasons behind why individuals do not think for themselves. He states that because of our consciousness of how others will react towards us is one of the reasons we do not think for ourselves and let our individuality show. We but half express ourselves, and are ashamed of that divine idea which each of us represents, (Emerson 1164). For example, the treatment of resistors, capacitors, and inductors are unified by combining them in a single complex number called the impedance, which is the measure of the opposition that a circuit presents to a current when a certain voltage is applied. Algebra The Quadratic Formula Early methods for solving quadratic equations were purely geometric. Babylonian tablets contained problems which could be reduced to solving quadratic equations. The Egyptian Berlin Papyrus (2050 1650 BC) contains the solution to a two term quadratic equation. Euclid (300 BC) used geometric methods to solve quadratic equations in his book Elements. In Arithmetica, Diophantus (250 BC) solved quadratic equations with methods which more closely resembled algebra. However, his solution only gave one root, even when both roots are positive. Brahmagupta (597 668 AD) explicitly described the quadratic formula in words instead of symbols in Brahmasphutasiddhanta in 628 AD. His solution of ax^2+bx=c equated to the formula: x=(√(4ac+b^2 ) b)/2a In the 9th century, Persian mathematician al Khwarizmi solved quadratic equations algebraically.
