Impact Of Caroline Chisholm
The impact of the movement of peoples to Australia is evident in an examination of the life of
Caroline Chisholm. She was born on the 30th of May 1808, in Northampton, England and was one of
sixteen children. She was brought up as a Christian girl in the tradition of Evangelical philanthropy
meaning she continued in life doing a lot of charitable work and was an extremely progressive 19th
century humanitarian philanthropist. Her major passion in life was to promote immigration to
Australia and particularly look after single, unsupported women arriving on the shores of Australia.
Caroline Chisholm, along with her husband, Captain Archibald and their children, were granted a two
year leave due to her husband s ill health after being in India and rather than returning to England they
thought Australia s climate would benefit him more. So, in September 1838 they arrived in the
Emerald Isle, Sydney.
Chisholm s work as philanthropist didn t start when she moved to Sydney, Australia. It was actually in
June 1833 when she joined her husband who was serving in the army in Madras, India. She became
aware of the poor daughters who were picking up bad behaviours after being around the soldiers. So,
in June 1834 Caroline founded the Female School of Industry for the Daughters of European Soldiers.
This provided a practical education for the girls, which included; instruction in reading, writing,
religion, cooking, housekeeping and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the letter, she wrote to Lord Earl Grey she also requests that annual rates of the peoples be
improved from 7 pounds to 10 pounds per head. She then continues to request that; every adult
labourer, indeed of all above fourteen years of age, may be taken to the rate of 4 pounds and 7
shillings. Chisholm pushed for the best for the people of Australia s growing

Classroom Design Analysis
The studio classroom here at RPI is unique in the way that students and professors interact with it. The
room was set up to cultivate open and creative thinking in order to inspire design. Due to the
interactive nature of the studio classroom, both professors and students frequently use the white board
when teaching or explaining class concepts. When selecting my project 2 product, I connected my
experiences with the uses of the classroom whiteboard and thought of a Whiteboard Squeegee . Now
that I am at the point in the design process where I analyze the potential users and stakeholders, I
narrowed down the user group for the whiteboard to studio professors and students. There are certain
characteristics that make this user group unique ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This issue is brought to light from Donald Norman s different perspective, for people themselves are
often unaware of their true needs, even unaware of the difficulties they are encountering (Norman 9). I
have been using whiteboard erasers for my entire academic career and have always subconsciously
noted the fact that using them, especially on a large board, comes with its issues. They can be tiring
and difficult to reach and clean the entire board, due to the small handheld eraser that has been
adopted and remained relatively unchanged. The whiteboard eraser in the studio classroom seems to
have been overlooked by the user group perhaps for multiple reasons, which adds strength to my cause
as a designer. The ability to design for a group of individuals who thoroughly appreciate innovation
allows for my project to have a strong potential impact. Initially, I assumed that my user group would
contain but not be limited to people who interact in a classroom. The fault in this thinking comes into
play when defining the unique characteristics of the user group. A generic classroom doesn t
necessarily need a larger ergonomic whiteboard eraser because it doesn t hold much value to them
outside of its function as an eraser. My target user group is in constant need of products and scenery
that enhance the classrooms design identity. Though a white board eraser may seem insignificant, it
could inspire the design of

Vibraphon s Influence On Jazz Music
1. I think the biggest element that made this song unique is the use of counterpoint. Counterpoint is
the use of two or more melodic lines of equal importance. During the course of the song, no one
melody sounds like the main melody, and are all of the same significance. I think this would have
upset many of the jazz purists, as it was such a change from traditional jazz music.
2. A vibraphone is a instrument with resonator tubes suspended below aluminum bars to create a
natural reverberation of the sound. Lionel Hampton was one of the first jazz performers to play this
instrument. I believe the vibraphone solo starts at 1:09 and lasts till about 1:50, most prominently and
again from 2:15 to 3:00.
3.I think that one of the techniques

Essay On Catalhoyuk
Since the beginning of time, there has been a great amount of progress throughout the world. From
cultural adaptations, the creation of social classes, technological advancements, the spread of
languages, and so on. We know about all of these progressions simply because of anthropology. By
studying humans, of the past and the present, anthropologists have learned how humans have evolved
throughout time, how they have adapted to their world, their own personal ways of living, as well as
how they communicated with one another. One of the ways anthropologists are capable of learning
such things, is through the study of archaeology. By digging up past civilizations, archaeology allows
anthropologists to put all the missing pieces together and to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Archaeologists have to envision how life was once lived, thousands of years ago, simply by studying
paintings on a wall, or through the examination of human remains. Not only do they have to imagine
these things, they need to have proof and evidence to back up their hypothesis. However, this task can
be very difficult to accomplish. Due to the fact that these artifacts are hundreds to thousands of years
old, they are likely to be very fragile. Making it difficult to collect all the pieces of evidence needed to
support their theory. The objects that are still intact, however, are collected, cleaned, photographed,
documented and analyzed for further studies. While researching Catalhoyuk, I was intrigued with the
idea of living in the houses that they lived in. I wondered if they were dark, or cold. Apparently, a
group of archaeologists had the same thought, and were able to re create and build one of the
Catalhoyuk houses in a site near Mira Stevanovic, according to Ian Hodder. Their model house proved
that the rooms were in fact lit up, because the sun entered through the square opening in the roof. I
was also surprised by the fact that the children born there did not live with their biological parents,
especially because family seemed to have been very important in regards to the social order of the
household. My research has been very valuable for acknowledging the importance of archaeology, and
how it has extended our knowledge on the history of

How Olympus Has Fallen Made Similar Strides For Success
For a world fearful of terrorism, we sure do love to watch mad men run amok in a fictional capacity
and do so in epic fashion. Usually it s aliens devastating the world s largest cities, but on occasion, it s
nothing more than a evil doer with a vision. Popular films, like Die Hard, Air Force One, and Speed
have previously created concentrated environments for terrorists to thrive with their grandiose, sinister
schemes creating timeless heroes and memorable climaxes in the process. And, while not as famous as
those aforementioned films, Olympus Has Fallen made similar strides for success a few short years
ago.
Olympus Has Fallen was by no stretch of the imagination plausible, nor realistic, though. Honestly,

The who s who of world leaders gather in England for the funeral, including those from Germany,
France, Italy, and others. But, someone on the inside of the world s intelligence community tips off a
Most Wanted criminal, Aamir Barkawi (Alon Moni Aboutboul) who is seeking revenge for the death
of his daughter (she died during a drone strike launched by President Asher). Thus, Barkawi
orchestrates a devastating attack that takes the lives of several world leaders and nearly takes the life
of President Asher, too.
Thankfully, with the help of Banning, Asher is able to escape, though putting them on the run from a
seemingly endless amount of pursuing terrorists that wish to capture the President, so he can be

It s not as if Olympus Has Fallen was a resounding success when it hit the big screen at this same time
three years ago making the proposal for a sequel to be a complete oddity. The idea of the White House
being compromised was about as far fetched of an idea as one could possibly imagine (unless its

Pill Bug Experiment Lab Report
This experiment involved the testing of pill bugs and whether or not pill bugs prefer fruit over
vegetables. The experiment results concluded that the hypothesis was incorrect; that pill bugs do not
prefer fruit over vegetables. In the experiment, we observed twenty pill bugs over several five minute
intervals. After five minutes, the number of pill bugs near the apple and lettuce were counted, as well
as the ones that remained in the center of the container. The experiment was repeated, and the lettuce
and apple locations were switched the second time to make sure location was not a factor in the
results. In the first thirty minute experiment, the pill bugs seemed to start off and gradually move
toward the lettuce. Near the end of the experiment, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We started off with twenty pill bugs, however two never moved so we did not include those in the data
set. Also, many of the pill bugs were more interested in climbing out of the container they were in, and
we had to intervene often in order to keep the pill bugs in the container. Many of them climbed the
walls and stood on top of each other, preventing other pill bugs from moving around the container.
While in the midst of climbing out of the container, several pill bugs ended up flipped on their backs,
which wasted time and ruined the pill bug s chances of moving around. Microscope slides were also
used to block off certain areas of the container that were not needed, however these slides fell over
often, either preventing a pill bug from moving or allowing the pill bugs to enter another part of the
container, which affected the overall results. These problems were expected, since the pill bugs were
exploring the entire container, nonetheless, these problems may have been preventable. Using a larger
container with more sustainable blockades could have prevented some problems. By adding natural
factors into the container like temperature, darkness, and dirt, the pill bugs may have felt more
comfortable because they would have felt like they were in their natural habitat. This could have
prevented them from trying to escape, allowing them to focus more on the food that was placed in the
area. If this experiment was run again, using a more natural based habitat for the pill bugs to explore
and allowing more time could possibly overall improve the outcome of the

Haploid cells are first present during anaphase I. during telophase I and II the parents cells have to
create cells that are half of each parent in order to maintain a steady amount of chromosomes as
opposed to increasing chromosomes. testis and ovaries, egg and sperm fertilization is necessary for
diploidy to be restored crossing over (prophase I), independent assortment of chromosomes

first president, its splendid cities, such as Washington DC, and its world famous national parks such as
the Grand Canyon. America is an amazing country in part because of its people and places. One of the
country s most famous leaders is George Washington. This important man was the first child of
Augustine and Mary Washington, born on February 22nd, 1732. unfortunately, his father died when he
was but eleven years old. By the time he was grown, he towered over many people, at exactly six feet
tall. On January 6th, 1759, George Washington married Martha Custis (a wealthy widow), who was 28
years old at the time. They had no children together, but they raised the two children from from
Martha s previous marriage. As a general, he led many battles in the Revolutionary War. The war had
started because the US was part of England, and the citizens of America were tired of the English
government taxing them unfairly. The people did not think it was fair, because they had to use their
hard earned money on taxes. George played a big part in the war, leading his people into the biggest
battle in the revolution. After the war, he was unanimously voted as first president in 1789 and in
1792. John Adams was named as vice president both times. George Washington preferred to be called

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Citizen Journalism
The advantages and disadvantages of citizen journalism and professional journalism
In this era, the popularity of citizen journalism has spread throughout all over the world. As a matter
of fact, more and more people are starting to take benefit of content publishers. This can be seen in
Television news, such as winter snow photos, traffic accidents or local sporting events. However, it
leaves a question, what exactly is news anyway? What do you need to be a citizen journalist? What is
its impact on today s fast paced society? Basically, a lot of people think this is a great thing and it can
be a good tool for promoting interaction between the media community and the community. There are
pros and cons of citizen journalism, we need to face this issue critically and dialectically (Techopedia,
2017). On the one hand, citizen journalism has some benefits that professional journalism can not
provide. Firstly, comparing with professional journalism, citizen journalism provides a wider range of
news and fills the gaps in mainstream media. The main body of the dissemination of citizen
journalism is ordinary citizens rather than professional journalists or professional media. People can
through the Facebook, microblog,Twitter to publish news which happened around their life. Delicacy,
beautiful scenery, sports events, entertainments, political commentary can be seen in Weibo, Twitter,
Facebook and so on. Secondly, citizen journalism could stimulate the interest of audience. Most
audiences enjoy reading ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Buddhist Monk Murders Case Study
Forensic Evidence Collected and Processed in the
Wat Promkunaram Buddhist Temple Murders For the Midterm Writing Assignment project, I chose to
review and summarize the Forensic Files episode titled, The Buddhist Monk Murders (S15, Ep3)
(Dowling, 2001). In August 1991, nine Monks from the Wat Promkunaram Temple were forced to
kneel in a circle in the living room then shot execution style in the back of the head. Because of the
number of victims and sheer brutality of the murders, this incident is considered the worst mass
murder in Arizona s history.
Background
In 1991, Wat Promkunaram Buddhist Temple was attended by mostly Thai nationals and considered a
gathering point for the Thai community in Arizona. The Temple is located in Waddell, Arizona, a
small community on the outskirts of Phoenix, and not far from Luke Air Force Base. Investigators
believe the murders occurred in the late evening of August 9, 1991. The bodies were discovered by a
Temple member the next morning.
Investigation
After securing the outside perimeter, Crime Scene Investigators meticulously searched inside the
dwelling; taking videos, photographs, and collecting over 1,000 fingerprints. The bedrooms had been
ransacked but very few items of value had been taken. In fact, other items of value were left
untouched such as cash (which was left in the open) and a safe, leading investigators to believe that
robbery was not the motive. Among all of the evidence collected, two pieces of evidence

Does Our Increasingly Mechanized World Cause Us You Feel...
Does our increasingly mechanized world cause us to feel alienated?
It can be argued that life has never been so easy. We are surrounded by plentitudes. food is freely
available in the West. Information is taken for granted, and we often dont want for nothing.
Yet there are signs and many reasons to suggest that we are far from happy despite this new age of
overabundance and the freedom it affords us.
Life in this age is unsatisfying for many, with people exhibiting clear signs of dissastisfaction, and a
sense of unease and angst. Our society and all its needs for advancement from technology and
overabundance is our chosen answer to all our problems, and we rely on such things for a higher
quality and easier life.
Yet, it doesnt seem to be getting better, our problems continue and in ways even increase as a result of
our incessant progression towards a brighter future.
Amidst the massive changes in society we face, we as a result constantly question our reality and
purpose within it, and this rapid mechanized world usually pushes aside any sense of community. I
think a capitalist; consumerist society creates in us a sense of alienation entirely new to our modern
times.
I want to understand the deeper reasons behind this, not only because i think it is very important but
also because i feel it is largely misunderstand and overlooked for such a huge complicated issue
within our society.
I will look at Marx and Engels.

Determinism in Nella Larsen’s Quicksand Essay
Determinism in Nella Larsen s Quicksand
During the Harlem Renaissance, many literary works concentrated on celebrating African American
heritage. However, many other writers also began concentrating on the darker theme of naturalism.
Nella Larsen s Quicksand illustrates many elements of this movement. These include a biological
determinism, where man is conceived of as controlled by his primitive animal instincts and a
sociological determinism, whereby the weak are destroyed and the strong survive in a world of
struggle and chance. Helga Crane, Larsen s protagonist in Quicksand, illustrates the elements of both
biological and sociological determinism in her inability to suppress her natural animal instinct to flee

Clearly, Helga is internally struggling with her sexual desire for Dr. Anderson by disguising it with
anger towards him. However, instead of confronting these emotions, Helga again allows her natural
instinct of flight to take over in order to deal with the situation.
Helga also illustrates her inability to control the instinct of flight in Copenhagen. During her stay, she
is incited to make an impression and to inflame attention and admiration (74). Helga s desire to attract
attention is overshadowed by her internal struggle with her natural instincts. In Copenhagen she
instinctively...wanted to combat this searching into one thing which, here, surrounded by all other
things which for so long she has so positively wanted, made her a little afraid. Started vague
premonitions (79). Helga is searching for happiness but she intuitively knows from her premonitions
that her search is futile because of her inability to remain in a place that becomes uncomfortable.
By the time Helga s desire to leave Alabama is evident, it is clear that Helga s natural instinct to
constantly escape the reality of her life has become her downfall. This time, she has responsibility
towards her children who she wanted not to leave if that were possible (135). Perhaps, when she began
to have her fifth child , Helga decides to stay in Alabama, thereby fighting the inner demons that have
controlled her life (135).

Dbq Essay On Childhood And Divorce
Fatherhood Divorce Where you stand depends on where you sit. Have you ever heard that saying? It
means your opinion about a situation can be based on your own experience (or lack of experience)
with it. For example, up until the day my wife said our marriage was over, I assumed many of my
friends got divorced because of their work prioritization, activities, or some other faulty decisions they
made. Today, I m divorced and sitting on the other side the issue. I realize that divorce can happen to
anyone due to any number of causes. Divorce can be the result of sudden, clearly recognizable events
or slow building, almost imperceptible issues which erode the foundation of marriage over time. It
seems that for many men, the choice to divorce isn t theirs because about 70% of divorces today are
initiated by women.[1] While we may not have the power to stay married, we do have the power to
define our role as a parent after a divorce. Defining that role begins with understanding the baseline
and the changes ahead. Self Assessment Fathers today spend more time taking care of their children
compared to previous generations. Even with these gains, today s mothers devote almost double the
time that fathers do for child care.[2] While every situation is different, in most families there ... Show

Compare And Contrast The Constructivist And Liberal Point...
I think that the constructivist and liberal point of view have similar views about the wars in Iraq and
Afghanistan. The realist would go against both of the points and say that the military was the only way
that we could have solved this problem. But I think that if actors played a role and we used more
institutions it would have had a better outcome for the war. This is simply because liberals are liberals
can see interests as both objective and subjective. Social constructivists are people who think interest
exist, but they are never simply objective. I think that realist would strongly disagree with my point of
view about the war and the constructivist would agree but also have some suggestions to use more
norms and standards alongside using the governmental organizations.
The wars in Iraq and afghanistan have always been up for debate as preventive, preemptive and
defensive wars. Neta C Crawford defines a preemptive war as military action is undertaken to
eliminate an immediate and credible threat of grievous harm and can only be just if there is a justified
fear of an attack where the potential attacker has a clear intent to cause harm. (25). While a preventive
war is started when a state believes that a war with a potential adversary is possible or likely at some
future day and that, if it waits, it will lose important military advantages. While a defensive war is a
war that is taken in self defense and to protect one s country based on an attack that was

What Is The Simulation Of Transient Wind Effects On A...
In this study, numerical CFD scheme with LES turbulence closure is used for appropriate simulation
of transient wind effects on a low rise building with a scale of 1:1 (full scale dimension) to yield
results comparable to the experimental wind pressure measurements and also full scale field measured
data with no scale issue. The so called vortex method was employed to generate the inflow wind
fluctuation at inlet. In addition, the influence of inflow boundary proximity for a low rise building via
LES is investigated to develop guidelines to reasonably simulate ABL wind characteristics and
reproduce the peak pressures on roof areas.

The generated transient inflow should possess natural wind characteristics with both time (temporal)
and space (spatial) correlations. In this study, in order to make certain that the developed CFD LES
model of a low rise building and the inlet wind velocity fluctuations are in accordance to real world
ABL properties, the full scale benchmark data from the Wind Engineering Research Field Laboratory
(WERFL) at Texas Tech University (TTU) are used as field measured wind pressure and velocity data.
In addition, wind tunnel measurement from NIST/UWO and open jet testing at LSU are compared
with CFD LES results. The effects of correlation of wind loading on the roof of low rise buildings are
investigated for each cases as well. In addition, the values of peak pressure coefficients are compared
with external pressure coefficients, GCp, specified for components and cladding (C C) in ASCE 7 10.

Comparing The Sefer Ha-Bahir And Revelations Of Divine Love
The Jewish text The Sefer ha Bahir as well as the Christian Julian of Norwich s Revelations of Divine
Love are both considered to be works of mysticism, although they are entirely different styles of
writing, the prior being a rabbinic commentary of the Torah while the latter is in an autobiographical
style. Mysticism is generally defined as a direct, personal experience of the divine. This definition
lacks a key component of the mysticism found in these two works. The authors are not merely
experiencing the divine, either through the Torah or visions, they are gaining knowledge of the divine
in the process. This is evident in the titles of the texts as well as within the texts. The Sefer ha Bahir
and Revelations of Divine Love do conform ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reason why the definition of mysticism should be expanded upon in light of these two texts, even
though the original definition is not incorrect, is because it does shroud the significance of the
knowledge and understanding gained in these works of mysticism. Mysticism is not simply a spiritual
experience or the presence of the divine; the texts demonstrate that knowledge of the divine is
deepened through these experiences. It can be seen in this quote from The Bahir that the rabbi are
coming to a deeper understanding through reading the Torah: Why does the verse not say, And it was
so ? What is this like? A king had a beautiful object. He puts it away until he had a place for it, and
then he put it there (haKana 25). The Bahir writes of more than just a divine experience because the
rabbi are gaining knowledge of the meaning behind passages of the Torah. Julian also writes not only
of journey to God, but a journey that teaches her divine knowledge. On the first page she writes,
...with many fair shewings of endless wisdom and teachings of love... (Norwich 1). Julian is

What are the differences between global human rights regimes and regional human rights regimes?
Include one example of a regional human rights regime (write at least 1 page double spaced)(5 points)
The most notable example of a global human rights regime is the United Nations, and an example of
regional human rights would be the OAS ( Organization of American States). Both entities have
focuses that are quite similar and intersecting. The main goal of the UN is displayed in article 1 of the
UN Charter which states to maintain international peace and security . Primary concerns of the UN are
security, humanitarian assistance, development, and human rights which is recognized in the Universal

American Declaration on the Rights and Duties of Man .
Despite the similarities both institutions possess there are differences that are apparent in the utilitarian
function of each. The UN has a universal influence and system of play, and the OAS plays a smaller
role looking over only its specific geographical region of the Americas. While both aim to influence
policy and the promotion of human rights there are advantages that come with their differences. The
UN has criticized the need for regional institutions like the OAS where they believe the OAS role or
goals overlap with those of their own. However, the OAS

The Hatshepsut Of Egypt During The 18th Dynasty
Queen Maatkare Hatshepsut, Pharaoh of Egypt during the 18th dynasty, from 1473 BC to 1458 BC,
was one of only a handful of female rulers of ancient Egypt. Her story is unique in Egyptian history,
and reigned longer than any other female pharaoh. Thutmose I, had many wives, and many children.
However, Hatshepsut was the daughter and only child of Thutmose I and his primary wife Ahmose.
Hatshepsut, was favored by her parents over her brothers. She was beautiful, smart, and had a
charismatic personality. Thus, despite her being a female, she had the makings to become a queen. Her
two brothers, died in unknown accidents, and she should have succeeded her father, as king, if she was
born a male. Thutmose I, Hatshepsut s father s reign was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Technically, Hatshepsut did not usurp the crown, as Thutmose III was never deposed, and was
considered co ruler throughout her life. Hatshepsut was the principal ruler in power, she began to reign
as Queen Regent, using the title God s Wife. Hatshepsut assumed the pharaoh costume, which was
intended for males and included a false beard, the shendyt kilt, and the nemes headdress, with its
uraeus, and khat headcloth. At her coronation, she adopted the five great names: Horus Powerful of
Kas, Two Ladies Flourishing of Years, Female Horus of Fine Gold, Divine of Diadems, King of Upper
and Lower Egypt, Maatkare, Daughter of Ra, Khenmet Amen Hatshepsut.
Hatshepsut s reign was basically a peaceful one. The lack of frantic military activity during her years
in power is one of the outstanding and defining characteristics of her rule. She focused more on
activities like trade, and construction. She expanded trade with Nubia, Libya, and countries in Asia.
She also ordered expeditions to present day Somalia, which was then called Punt, to acquire special
goods like ivory, spices, and gold. Hatshepsut also restored and renovated several old buildings that
had been damaged or destroyed by invading armies. One of these was the temple at Ipet Issut, now
known as Karnak. In addition to the renovations, she built the Red Chapel for the holy barge of Amun.

Importance And Importance Of Entrepreneur
Entrepreneurship refers to the act of investing in productive capital and assuming risk for productive
ventures. An entrepreneur is an individual who purchases factors of production and combines them to
produce consumable output. Entrepreneurs are distinguished from capitalists who rent out capital to
entrepreneurs and workers, who sell their labor to entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurs are indispensable to
the functioning of any economy. Entrepreneurs grow economies by creating new output, increase
efficiency in economies, allocate society s resources efficiently, and serve consumers and job seekers.
The foremost importance of the entrepreneur to the economy is the creation of new output. At any
given point in a society, production is stagnant. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Entrepreneurs are continuously looking for ways to generate profits. An incidental consequence of this
permanent quest for profits is the fact that economies gradually become efficient as entrepreneurs
discover more efficient ways to turn out goods and services. In any industry, entrepreneurs will adopt
the best production methods available to stay competitive and therefore profitable. However, the
competitive pressures of the market push entrepreneurs toward innovation. Innovation involves a
broad gamut of actions. Most notably, entrepreneurs will strive to improve existing technology, to
make their production endeavors less costly. Improving on existing technology enables an
entrepreneur to generate greater profits by cutting his production costs, and therefore undercutting his
competitions (Sowell, 2001; Mankiw, 2014). Soon enough, however, his competitors also adopt his
new production methods depriving him of the advantage he initially had. As a result, the entrepreneur
must constantly be looking for methods to do things more efficiently than his competition.
Improvements in technology and production methods benefit the whole of society. Foremost,
improved efficiency reduces the marginal costs of production, resulting in lower prices for consumers.
Consumers are therefore able to purchase greater volumes of goods and services for the same amount

PICOT QUESTIONS
ON OXYGENATION EBS Process Question
Within a community of residing adults, what is the effectiveness of hands only CPR compared with
the hands used together with breathing CPR when trying to prevent mortality?
PICOT Problem Statement
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation in community residing adults using hands only CPR versus breathing
and hand use CPR are both useful when trying to avoid death if the people involved are fully aware of
the precautions and steps to take while undertaking the process.
Patient and Clinical Problems
Patients who are suffering from cardiac arrests and neurologic outcomes have a high chance of
needing cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Efficient use of both hands only CPR versus breathing and
hand use CPR may improve their survival chances and boost their neurologic outcomes when they
undergo any form of an attack. The hands only CPR versus breathing and hand use CPR training
programs assist nurses, and the public on the treatment criteria to efficiently handle patients with
cardiac arrests emergencies, resulting in an increase of the cardiac arrests survival rates for many
patients across the world (Lamboy Donohue, 2015).
The hands only CPR versus breathing and hand use CPR involves the nurses or an individual doing
chest compressions, in addition to artificial ventilation that is used to sustain the circulatory flow of

Red Flags Research Paper
Red Flags That Indicate A Home For Sale Might Have Problems
Looking for the right new home to buy can be both fun and stressful. It s disheartening to find a home
in a good location that you love only to find out something is wrong with it. However, it s best to find
out about problems before you buy. Homeowners aren t always forthcoming with problems you
should know about, however, they may be required to disclose certain things. Here are some red flags
to look for when shopping for real estate that may help you avoid a home with hidden problems.

It could save you from buying a home with legal trouble or that has structural damage. Carefully

Several Homes Are For Sale In The Same Area
Another red flag is when several homes are for sale on the same street or in the same condo building.
This situation could be a coincidence, and sometimes neighbors are prompted to list their home when
buyers are in the area looking at other homes, but a more serious problem could be prompting people
to sell. There might be problems in the neighborhood such as increased crime or problem residents.
When There s Vacant Land Nearby
While it might seem nice that there s not a house close to the one you re interested in, buying next to
vacant land is risky. At some point, a house may go up there and you ll be subjected to many months
of construction noise and traffic. Plus, if the lot becomes unattended, it will be an eyesore and attract
pests. Also, find out about plans for large tracts of vacant land near the neighborhood. If the home is in
a big city, the land might be developed with condos or a shopping center at some time in the

Harriet Quimby flew solo across the English Channel. Many people did not believe that a woman
could take on such a dangerous flight. An aviator offered to fly across the English Channel wearing
Harriet s purple flying suit. He said that he could switch clothes with her when he reached France.
Harriet Quimby declined his offer because she was determined to accomplish her goal. They knew I
had never used the machine before and probably thought I would find some excuse at the last moment
to back out of the flight. This attitude made me more determined than ever to succeed (America s First
Lady of the Air). Harriet Quimby decided to fly the Blériot XI even though it didn t have an amazing

she had during the flight was a compass. She did not have a parachute, seatbelt, or navigation device

BUSINESS MODEL GENERATION EXERCISE
RQ1 What is a Business Model? At least 2 paragraphs.
The first step in implementing an effective business model is to adequately understand the definition.
Osterwalder and Pigneur (2010) define a business model as the rationale of how an organization
creates, delivers, and captures value. (14) In simple terms, a business model is an outline or a blueprint
an organization uses to constract effective processes, structure, and systems.
While business models can be complex and unique, a basic understanding and definition of a business
model is important for success. To simplify the complexities of defining a business model, one can

Likewise, a poor business model is often blamed for a firm s failure. Models, like strategy, are
important ways that a company can plan, adjust, and succeed.
As described previously, a business model can be seen as a blueprint and such plans give direction,
meaning, and purpose. Business models can also be perceived as scale models used for larger
implementation. (Doganova Eyquem Renault, 2009) Whether implemented by an entrepreneur or by
an establish market leading organization, business models allow for firms to put a plan to paper and
support their plan with data. This allows an organization to plan carefully for the risks and
opportunites that they will face as they put the model into practice.
RQ3 What role do value propositions perform in successful business models? At least 2 paragraphs.
Osterwalder and Pigneur (2010) describe value propositions as the bundle of products and services
that create value for a specific customer segment. (22) This building block of a business model is
essential in that it is the reason why consumers value one company over another. Value Propositions
can also help organizations create customer loyalty and retention. With intense competition in
markets, value propositions are an important part of a business model because it addresses competition
and attempts to set the firm apart from the other choices presented to its customer base.
Value Propositions relate very closely to the

Letter From Birmingham Jail Thesis
On April 16, 1963, shortly after Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was sent to jail, for public protests against
segregation, he wrote the Letters from the Birmingham Jail. The letters from the Birmingham Jail
played a monumental role during the Civil Rights Movement, and were crucial to ending segregation
in America. During his time in jail, Dr. King Jr, received letters from critics who were questioning his
methods and timing of his public protest during the Civil Rights Movements. The letters from the
Birmingham Jail were addressed to these critics. They defended Dr King Jr s non violent protests, and
criticized the cities disciplinary acts of violence toward protesters. The Letters from the Birmingham

King Jr. continued to endure the hardships, he would soon find out that he would be rewarded for his
perseverance, when society was soon affected in a positive way. During the protests police ordered
violent acts to stop the protesters and many protesters were jailed. The violent police acts were shown
on television. The actions taken horrified many Americans (Marazani 3). Since the unjust acts were
finally being televised, citizens of the United States, were now actually seeing and realizing the cruel
actions that were being taken against protesters, by American officers. Now that America was finally
realizing the harsh acts against African American protestors, Dr. King Jr s goal of ending segregation
was almost accomplished by making the problem known throughout America. Since all of America
now knew about the brutality that police were enforcing against African Americans, there was an
outrage and an agreement was reached and employers agreed to desegregate public places, and
employ African Americans (Birmingham 3). Therefore the demonstrations finally came to an end now
that Dr King Jr s goal had finally been achieved. Dr. King Jr. and the protests had successfully
desegregated the city of Birmingham, as well as achieving rights of equality for African Americans.
However this would not have been possible without the Letters from the Birmingham

America Is The Great Melting Pot
America is the great Melting Pot . From an early age every American is taught that America contains a
mixture of the world s cultures in a perfectly blended mixture. We honor and respect all cultures and
invite them to bring their customs here to the United States. But do we really? Take for instance, the
Hmong refugees who involuntarily moved to America. Cultural Assimilation seemed to be forced
down the refugees throats. Keeping their native customs was looked on with horror and disgust.
Cultural Assimilation is the process in which a person s and or groups culture comes to resemble that
of another group. When most immigrants come to the Untied States they are heavily advised to take
up English as their first language. You are advised to learn all about our government, how to drive,
and the value of individualism. The idea of the Great Melting Pot is completely ironic to me. It gives
the impression that we are all one big mixture of cultures. In reality the melting pot spreads thin all
other cultures, but the American culture. Other cultures seem to be lost and assimilated into American
ideologies and cultures. Cultural Assimilation for refugees and others, such as the Hmong can be
incredibly difficult and life threatening. Take the Lee Family, for example. The Lee family arrived in
the United States on December 18th in 1980. They left their country seeking political asylum and
ended up in the U.S. They experiences first hand how different life

Language and Learning
* In the educational field, the teaching learning cycle is a model used in contemporary teaching in
both school and adult educational settings. Rothery (1996 in Derewianka amp; Jones 2012, pg 43)
who originally developed the model used this to aim at disadvantaged children for teaching literacy
and writing in the KLA (Key learning areas) who were from socially disadvantaged areas. Over time
the model has been phased across other areas of the English language such as listening, speaking,
reading as well as writing. The key involvement of the teacher also known as expert other in the

In this stage some activities that teachers implement are group work activities where student can
interact with one another including the teacher in developing a written text using formal academic
literature from being shown before when modeling the genre. Also known as macro scaffolding when
the teacher plans out goals for the classroom based on the students prior knowledge and newfound
information (Hammond amp; Gibbons 2005, pg 12). This stage is an important stage as students are
working together and developing their knowledge together. This is also known as ZOP (zone of
proximal development). According to Vygotsky s theory citied in Salmon (2008 pg 457) it is the
student levels level of understanding and where their potential of understanding can be through times
of social interaction and the task being set. So in context of joint construction stage when students
work together and with the teacher scaffolding their writing they are building upon their own
knowledge and knowledge they have learnt from the field to contribute to the topic (Kozulin 2003).
This is also influenced in the other stages of the learning cycle. Another strategy in scaffolding is
interactional scaffolding where the teacher can prompt students to think, which then leads to them
working together in building the field and contributing effectively during joint construction. For e.g. if
the task set was writing a report the teacher can

Sympathy By Paul Laurence Dunbar
With it all, I cannot help being overwhelmed by self doubts. I hope there is something worthy in my
writings and not merely the novelty of a black face associated with the power to rhyme that has
attracted attend , by Paul Laurence Dunbar. ( Paul Laurence Dunbar quotes ) Dunbar was a poet that
experienced many difficult encounters with being African American ( Paul Laurence Dunbar 2 ).
Therefore, going through these multiple sorrows in his life is what inspired his greatest works as a
poet. He uses these difficulties to make poetry that can be influential to readers. Many poets have been
influential on American literature, including Paul Laurence Dunbar (Munroe Paul Laurence Dunbar ).

In the poem Dunbar associated his life and experiences with the words he uses in his poem. He
describes the tougher times in his life, that other people can relate too. Dunbar went through a variety
of events where he couldn t do something because of his ethnicity. That is another example of what he
is trying to relate to in Life s Tragedy . In the poem Dunbar uses alliteration and consonance. For
example in line seven and eight, There the potent sorrow, there the grief, the pale, sad staring. The
people he is speaking to is anyone that has gone through tragedies in their life that struggle to find joy.
Dunbar s perspective in the poem is he has gone through too much sorrow and pain in his time, that
when the good things do come it is difficult to enjoy them as you should. For example in line fifteen
till the end he says, We count our joys not by what we have, But by what kept us from that perfect
thing (Paul Laurence Dunbar Poem Hunter). The theme of this poem is to try and cherish the positive
things in life when they come along, rather than always think about the negative that has happened in
the past. Paul Laurence Dunbar s poem Life s Tragedy is spoken in the terms of reflection and

The Prevalence Of Homelessness And Homelessness
The Prevalence of Homelessness
In this textual analysis, I m going to discuss the prevalence of homelessness in the United States. I ll
be using three songs from popular culture that focus on homelessness. Different artists perform these
three songs: Avril Lavigne, Bob Dylan, and Nirvana. I m going to address the values that people who
are homeless may have, according to what each artist conveys through their song lyrics. Throughout
the lyrics in each song, it seems like the artists are attempting to communicate to the public that
homelessness is a serious issue that nobody is immune to. The values that I have gathered are bravery,
hope, and perseverance.
I have chosen this topic because over half a million people are homeless, the government has limited
resources to help those who are homeless, and some cities are making homelessness illegal. This topic
is important to me because nobody is immune to homelessness, which is terrifying and unfortunate.
This topic should be important to others because homelessness is a serious problem and it seems like
we tend to treat people who are homeless like they re not human beings.
Some people think that if a person who s homeless wants to truly change their situation, they would
simply get a job. There s clothing assistance available for people who are homeless; having access to a
resource like this can help people who are homeless by providing them with appropriate clothing for
job interviews. Approximately 44% of people who are

Ruined Maid and To His Coy Mistress
Both the Ruined Maid and To His Coy Mistress provide us with disturbing images / pictures of love,
sex and relationships as I am about to explain.
The Ruined Maid was written by Thomas Hardy in 1866, during the time when women didn t have
sex before marriage and they were thrown out of their village for being ruined . The public at that
point in history had a very strict view of sex and marriage. They thought that women in particular
should never have sex before marriage and they should have everything taken off them for being
ruined . They were looked upon as a disgrace to society.

The actual poem is written in a Ballard style and it s conversational because of the dialog between
Melia and the other woman. The poem has a rhyming couplet scheme that goes AA, BB, and CC, also
the beat to each line is four beats per line. The poem also consists of enjambment within the verses
e.g. You used to call home life a hag ridden dream

To Her Coy Mistress was written by Andrew Marvell during the steward period were sex was more
relaxed. The main theme of the poem is sex and carpe dime. The poem is set out into three verses; 1.
If, 2. But and 3. However.
This poem is all about time and if we had time this and that could happen. The disturbing pictures or
images of the love and relationships are thought the poem. The coy mistress is actually a prostitute,
because the man who is going to have sex with her says For, lady, you deserve this state, Nor would I
love lower at this rate. This statement taken from the poem meant the respect that was given to the
lady was enough even though she may not think so, also this sentence uses a metaphor because he s
practically saying that he s paying for what he wants, even if that includes sex.

Will Allen tells his story he talks about the people who helped him along the way. He mentions how

Significance Of The European Union
The European Union has grown from its humble beginnings of the European Coal and Steel
Community (ECSC) into a complex system of governance within Europe and it has become a key
figure internationally. The issue is whether the European Union (EU) has in this time grown into a
supranational form of governance with the establishment of treaties, or have the nation states stayed in
control. I am going to argue that the EU s supranational qualities are the allocation of shared common
interests among the nation states that compose it. It has been shown by history that the power
ultimately lies in the member state as evidenced by the need for unanimity in passing the treaties that
mandate the EU and earlier conceptions of it have resulted in the ... Show more content on

These issues were resolved allowing the member states to move forward with ratification, however,
there was a vast opposition to the Constitutional Treaty. The EU and the supporters of the treaty failed
to properly explain the Constitutional Treaty, causing it to be denied in France and the Netherlands.
The rejection of the treaty in certain states was caused by globalization, which was leading to
unemployment causing them to be alienated and frustrated, however, some of their complaints were
already apart of the European Union, so it shows the nation state has the power to accept an idea, and
then decline it at a later date as seen also by Brexit. The Lisbon Treaty stated that the power of the
European Union is given by the member states in the form of treaties, which allows the member states
to have several rights one of them being secession. The United Kingdom was one of the original
countries accepted in the enlargement of the ECSC it accepted upon joining that it would be apart of
the treaties that allowed the free movement of goods, services, capital and workers within the EU,
which was also accredited for the single market and the Euro as the result of spillover. On June 23rd,
2016 the UK voted to leave the European Union it was a rejection of free movement between the UK
and other European Nations that was sparked on by the migrant crisis since the EU was trying to put

all students registered on all courses but it will be possible to
run an attendance report for a single student, highlighting attendance, lateness, or absences that have

Essay On Borderline Personalities
Borderline personalities are impulsive and have extreme views of people as either good people who
have their best interest, or bad people who do not have any good intentions. These people are unstable
in relationships and have a strong fear of being abandoned. They may form an intense personal
attachment with someone they barely know and end it without no apparent reason. They might also
engage in a pull and push behavior that usually ends with their partner leaving permanently. Self
mutilation, suicidal gestures or attention seeking destructive behaviors are not uncommon. Borderline
personalities are three times more likely to be female, rather than male. They say that it is more
common in women because, . Others blame BPD on early onset incest, other sexual abuse, or Post

H. J Mccloskey s Article On Being An Atheist
H. J. McCloskey, an atheist author, wrote an article titled On Being an Atheist which explains why he
is an atheist, his views on God, and why He believes that being an atheist is more comfortable and
reasonable than believing in Christianity. While arguing against the proofs within the cosmological
argument and teleological argument, McCloskey does not acknowledge the ontological argument. He
then goes on to say how belief in God is not necessary and living by faith is irrational. My goal of this
paper is to examine his article, point out the flaws, and prove that his arguments do not prove atheism
to be true. McCloskey refers to proofs as an argument that favors God but cannot make a case for
God. He then goes on to argue that those proofs should not be used and discarded. Dr. Foreman,
however, suggested the accumulative case approach, which tells us to collect the proofs and evidence
that says God, in fact, exists. One main reason that we cannot be one hundred percent sure when we
say that God exists is the possibility of us being wrong. On one hand, Dr. Foreman argues that things
that take place around us are evidence of God. However, McCloskey says that the case for God cannot
be proved through Christianity. In response to McCloskey, we believe in many things that are unseen
but have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These arguments both refer to a creator of some sort whether that is God or another outside force. The
teleological argument, however, suggests that there is purpose within the order of the universe.
McCloskey believes that both arguments, the cosmological and teleological arguments, cannot prove
that God is the ultimate designer. He also claims that there is not enough, if any, proof of a designer.
To counter his argument, I would argue that there is not enough proof to prove that there is not a
creator however, not one side can be absolutely sure that they are completely

Did Milo Want A Life Of Subservient Husbandry Like His...
Did Milo want a life of subservient husbandry like his father and generations of Guillets? His father
would leave him with no significant inheritance, even though he was the eldest boy. His lack of
secondary schooling and his French Catholic ancestry, despite being only partial, placed him on the
wrong side of the two solitudes to improve his life. To be a landowner meant independence. His
childhood, not only marred by poverty but also by the traumatic series of deaths of those so close to
him, conceivably placed a pall over his future that s if he did not do something radical. (There is an
unsubstantiated rumour that he had a falling out with his family, possibly from his second step mother,
and not his father as Milo honoured his father by naming a son after him.) For whatever reason, and it
seems he had a few, Milo left Quebec likely either in the fall of 1881 or spring of 1882 at the age of 15
(he thought 14) and headed to Ontario. If he had left just a bit later he would have had to endure
another significant death, that of his younger brother Joseph. Ephraim Heald Patch Jonpatch.ca
Rebecca Mann Turner Jonpatch.ca He died of unknown causes August 6, 1882, aged only 13 and had
just started out on his own. Milo chose at first Washago, a small community of farmers in the town on
the north end of Lake Couchiching by the Severn River. Of course he had to expect to start work as a
farm hand but he likely felt a bit more equality and the chance of true independence.

How Did Poland Destroy The World
Certain events can help create, or destroy the world. Three events that had the greatest impact on
world history were the rise of Christianity, Germany invading Poland in 1939, and the Industrial
Revolution. Society was influenced when Christianity started to spread in Rome. Now 2.2 billion
people worldwide follow it. Germany invading Poland changed it in a way nothing else could, it
started another world war. The industrial Revolution changed the way goods and services are
produced, and some of the practices from that are still used today. Mesopotamia forever changed the
world with religion. It is safe to say that they came up with the concept. Nowadays so many unique
and independent religions exist, ranging from a new sect of Christianity to Scientology. Whenever
something is wrong people looked up to the Gods to find answers, but some religions died off, and are
no longer practiced today such as Zoroastrianism, but Christianity survived the test of time along with
Judaism, and Islam. When Christianity was first introduced people looked at it as a cult. Later it was
accepted and society and has many branches with mainly similar beliefs. The entire spread of it can be
viewed as both an negative and a positive. Later on during the middle ages the Spanish Inquisition ...

Lauryn Hill Figurative Language
Lauryn Hill s poem Motives and Thoughts sheds particular light on the follies of society including
overlooking the evil motives of its leaders and even its citizens through the use of poetic devices and
figurative language. This 51 line poem touches on the subject of conspiracy and requires the reader to
take a look at herself to determine what her motivation is for engaging in types of activity to gain
power or desires and to look at the motives and thoughts of the leaders whom she follows. Hill uses
several poetic devices and figurative language to enhance the meaning of her poem by placing
emphasis on certain words to capture her audience s attention including repetition, rhyme, allusion,
metaphors, paradox, and oxymoron to reveal the central issues of deception while uncovering minor
themes of downfall due to pride and spirituality. Hill uses allusion and metaphors throughout ... Show

For example, the use of oxymoron is evident in the fourth line of Hill s poem when she expresses
...human condition, morals corrupted (Lauryn Hill Motives and Thoughts ). The phrase morals
corrupted is a combination of two contradictory words that have opposite meanings and are used to
emphasize how deceptive the condition of humanity is because their morals or standards to do what is
right are tarnished. In lines 22 and 23 of Hills s poem, she uses paradox to imply a truth behind how
simple men or primitive man can gain higher education or civilized knowledge in a collapsed system
and still fail to recognize the failure (Lauryn Hill Motives and Thoughts ). Hill further illustrates this
willful blindness in lines 26 and 27, which refer to the stiff necked scholars laden with prescription

Human Trafficking In America
Slavery is when persons are owned and controlled by other persons, and they have little to no
freedom. In Eastern Europe slavery ended in 1528, but human trafficking has been going on for
thousands of years. A few decrees did not stop the horrible crime called human trafficking. By
definition human trafficking is modern day slavery; people that are victims are imprisoned and worked
until they are physically unable to any longer. Many people turn a blind eye to human trafficking.
Despite the minimal efforts of various governments Eastern European human trafficking is on the rise,

assess and take responsibility for the company s effects on environmental and social well being ,
according to, Investopedia, (R., 2015). Whole foods are dedicated to contributing back to its people,

ethical practices including green marketing by utilizing the marketing of products believed to be
preferably used by people which incorporate a number of activities such as, environmentally friendly
packaging, sustainability, and modified advertising. The company s reputation of what they offer, the
treatment of their employees, behavior as a company, including the major factors of they represent

  • 2. Impact Of Caroline Chisholm The impact of the movement of peoples to Australia is evident in an examination of the life of Caroline Chisholm. She was born on the 30th of May 1808, in Northampton, England and was one of sixteen children. She was brought up as a Christian girl in the tradition of Evangelical philanthropy meaning she continued in life doing a lot of charitable work and was an extremely progressive 19th century humanitarian philanthropist. Her major passion in life was to promote immigration to Australia and particularly look after single, unsupported women arriving on the shores of Australia. Caroline Chisholm, along with her husband, Captain Archibald and their children, were granted a two year leave due to her husband s ill health after being in India and rather than returning to England they thought Australia s climate would benefit him more. So, in September 1838 they arrived in the Emerald Isle, Sydney. Chisholm s work as philanthropist didn t start when she moved to Sydney, Australia. It was actually in June 1833 when she joined her husband who was serving in the army in Madras, India. She became aware of the poor daughters who were picking up bad behaviours after being around the soldiers. So, in June 1834 Caroline founded the Female School of Industry for the Daughters of European Soldiers. This provided a practical education for the girls, which included; instruction in reading, writing, religion, cooking, housekeeping and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 3. Classroom Design Analysis The studio classroom here at RPI is unique in the way that students and professors interact with it. The room was set up to cultivate open and creative thinking in order to inspire design. Due to the interactive nature of the studio classroom, both professors and students frequently use the white board when teaching or explaining class concepts. When selecting my project 2 product, I connected my experiences with the uses of the classroom whiteboard and thought of a Whiteboard Squeegee . Now that I am at the point in the design process where I analyze the potential users and stakeholders, I narrowed down the user group for the whiteboard to studio professors and students. There are certain characteristics that make this user group unique ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This issue is brought to light from Donald Norman s different perspective, for people themselves are often unaware of their true needs, even unaware of the difficulties they are encountering (Norman 9). I have been using whiteboard erasers for my entire academic career and have always subconsciously noted the fact that using them, especially on a large board, comes with its issues. They can be tiring and difficult to reach and clean the entire board, due to the small handheld eraser that has been adopted and remained relatively unchanged. The whiteboard eraser in the studio classroom seems to have been overlooked by the user group perhaps for multiple reasons, which adds strength to my cause as a designer. The ability to design for a group of individuals who thoroughly appreciate innovation allows for my project to have a strong potential impact. Initially, I assumed that my user group would contain but not be limited to people who interact in a classroom. The fault in this thinking comes into play when defining the unique characteristics of the user group. A generic classroom doesn t necessarily need a larger ergonomic whiteboard eraser because it doesn t hold much value to them outside of its function as an eraser. My target user group is in constant need of products and scenery that enhance the classrooms design identity. Though a white board eraser may seem insignificant, it could inspire the design of ... • 4. Vibraphon s Influence On Jazz Music 1. I think the biggest element that made this song unique is the use of counterpoint. Counterpoint is the use of two or more melodic lines of equal importance. During the course of the song, no one melody sounds like the main melody, and are all of the same significance. I think this would have upset many of the jazz purists, as it was such a change from traditional jazz music. 2. A vibraphone is a instrument with resonator tubes suspended below aluminum bars to create a natural reverberation of the sound. Lionel Hampton was one of the first jazz performers to play this instrument. I believe the vibraphone solo starts at 1:09 and lasts till about 1:50, most prominently and again from 2:15 to 3:00. 3.I think that one of the techniques ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Essay On Catalhoyuk Since the beginning of time, there has been a great amount of progress throughout the world. From cultural adaptations, the creation of social classes, technological advancements, the spread of languages, and so on. We know about all of these progressions simply because of anthropology. By studying humans, of the past and the present, anthropologists have learned how humans have evolved throughout time, how they have adapted to their world, their own personal ways of living, as well as how they communicated with one another. One of the ways anthropologists are capable of learning such things, is through the study of archaeology. By digging up past civilizations, archaeology allows anthropologists to put all the missing pieces together and to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Archaeologists have to envision how life was once lived, thousands of years ago, simply by studying paintings on a wall, or through the examination of human remains. Not only do they have to imagine these things, they need to have proof and evidence to back up their hypothesis. However, this task can be very difficult to accomplish. Due to the fact that these artifacts are hundreds to thousands of years old, they are likely to be very fragile. Making it difficult to collect all the pieces of evidence needed to support their theory. The objects that are still intact, however, are collected, cleaned, photographed, documented and analyzed for further studies. While researching Catalhoyuk, I was intrigued with the idea of living in the houses that they lived in. I wondered if they were dark, or cold. Apparently, a group of archaeologists had the same thought, and were able to re create and build one of the Catalhoyuk houses in a site near Mira Stevanovic, according to Ian Hodder. Their model house proved that the rooms were in fact lit up, because the sun entered through the square opening in the roof. I was also surprised by the fact that the children born there did not live with their biological parents, especially because family seemed to have been very important in regards to the social order of the household. My research has been very valuable for acknowledging the importance of archaeology, and how it has extended our knowledge on the history of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. How Olympus Has Fallen Made Similar Strides For Success For a world fearful of terrorism, we sure do love to watch mad men run amok in a fictional capacity and do so in epic fashion. Usually it s aliens devastating the world s largest cities, but on occasion, it s nothing more than a evil doer with a vision. Popular films, like Die Hard, Air Force One, and Speed have previously created concentrated environments for terrorists to thrive with their grandiose, sinister schemes creating timeless heroes and memorable climaxes in the process. And, while not as famous as those aforementioned films, Olympus Has Fallen made similar strides for success a few short years ago. Olympus Has Fallen was by no stretch of the imagination plausible, nor realistic, though. Honestly, with an argument ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But, someone on the inside of the world s intelligence community tips off a Most Wanted criminal, Aamir Barkawi (Alon Moni Aboutboul) who is seeking revenge for the death of his daughter (she died during a drone strike launched by President Asher). Thus, Barkawi orchestrates a devastating attack that takes the lives of several world leaders and nearly takes the life of President Asher, too. Thankfully, with the help of Banning, Asher is able to escape, though putting them on the run from a seemingly endless amount of pursuing terrorists that wish to capture the President, so he can be executed live on the internet. And, with the President unaccounted for it thrusts Vice President Allan Trumball (Morgan Freeman) back into a Presidential capacity. It s not as if Olympus Has Fallen was a resounding success when it hit the big screen at this same time three years ago making the proposal for a sequel to be a complete oddity. The idea of the White House being compromised was about as far fetched of an idea as one could possibly imagine (unless its 1814). • 7. Pill Bug Experiment Lab Report This experiment involved the testing of pill bugs and whether or not pill bugs prefer fruit over vegetables. The experiment results concluded that the hypothesis was incorrect; that pill bugs do not prefer fruit over vegetables. In the experiment, we observed twenty pill bugs over several five minute intervals. After five minutes, the number of pill bugs near the apple and lettuce were counted, as well as the ones that remained in the center of the container. The experiment was repeated, and the lettuce and apple locations were switched the second time to make sure location was not a factor in the results. In the first thirty minute experiment, the pill bugs seemed to start off and gradually move toward the lettuce. Near the end of the experiment, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We started off with twenty pill bugs, however two never moved so we did not include those in the data set. Also, many of the pill bugs were more interested in climbing out of the container they were in, and we had to intervene often in order to keep the pill bugs in the container. Many of them climbed the walls and stood on top of each other, preventing other pill bugs from moving around the container. While in the midst of climbing out of the container, several pill bugs ended up flipped on their backs, which wasted time and ruined the pill bug s chances of moving around. Microscope slides were also used to block off certain areas of the container that were not needed, however these slides fell over often, either preventing a pill bug from moving or allowing the pill bugs to enter another part of the container, which affected the overall results. These problems were expected, since the pill bugs were exploring the entire container, nonetheless, these problems may have been preventable. Using a larger container with more sustainable blockades could have prevented some problems. By adding natural factors into the container like temperature, darkness, and dirt, the pill bugs may have felt more comfortable because they would have felt like they were in their natural habitat. This could have prevented them from trying to escape, allowing them to focus more on the food that was placed in the area. If this experiment was run again, using a more natural based habitat for the pill bugs to explore and allowing more time could possibly overall improve the outcome of the ... They had no children together, but they raised the two children from from Martha s previous marriage. As a general, he led many battles in the Revolutionary War. The war had started because the US was part of England, and the citizens of America were tired of the English government taxing them unfairly. The people did not think it was fair, because they had to use their hard earned money on taxes. George played a big part in the war, leading his people into the biggest battle in the revolution. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Citizen Journalism The advantages and disadvantages of citizen journalism and professional journalism In this era, the popularity of citizen journalism has spread throughout all over the world. As a matter of fact, more and more people are starting to take benefit of content publishers. This can be seen in Television news, such as winter snow photos, traffic accidents or local sporting events. However, it leaves a question, what exactly is news anyway? What do you need to be a citizen journalist? What is its impact on today s fast paced society? Basically, a lot of people think this is a great thing and it can be a good tool for promoting interaction between the media community and the community. There are pros and cons of citizen journalism, we need to face this issue critically and dialectically (Techopedia, 2017). On the one hand, citizen journalism has some benefits that professional journalism can not provide. Firstly, comparing with professional journalism, citizen journalism provides a wider range of news and fills the gaps in mainstream media. The main body of the dissemination of citizen journalism is ordinary citizens rather than professional journalists or professional media. People can through the Facebook, microblog,Twitter to publish news which happened around their life. Buddhist Monk Murders Case Study Forensic Evidence Collected and Processed in the Wat Promkunaram Buddhist Temple Murders For the Midterm Writing Assignment project, I chose to review and summarize the Forensic Files episode titled, The Buddhist Monk Murders (S15, Ep3) (Dowling, 2001). In August 1991, nine Monks from the Wat Promkunaram Temple were forced to kneel in a circle in the living room then shot execution style in the back of the head. Because of the number of victims and sheer brutality of the murders, this incident is considered the worst mass murder in Arizona s history. Background In 1991, Wat Promkunaram Buddhist Temple was attended by mostly Thai nationals and considered a gathering point for the Thai community in Arizona. The Temple is located in Waddell, Arizona, a small community on the outskirts of Phoenix, and not far from Luke Air Force Base. Investigators believe the murders occurred in the late evening of August 9, 1991. The bodies were discovered by a Temple member the next morning. Investigation After securing the outside perimeter, Crime Scene Investigators meticulously searched inside the dwelling; taking videos, photographs, and collecting over 1,000 fingerprints. The bedrooms had been ransacked but very few items of value had been taken. In fact, other items of value were left untouched such as cash (which was left in the open) and a safe, leading investigators to believe that robbery was not the motive. We are surrounded by plentitudes. food is freely available in the West. Information is taken for granted, and we often dont want for nothing. Yet there are signs and many reasons to suggest that we are far from happy despite this new age of overabundance and the freedom it affords us. Life in this age is unsatisfying for many, with people exhibiting clear signs of dissastisfaction, and a sense of unease and angst. Our society and all its needs for advancement from technology and overabundance is our chosen answer to all our problems, and we rely on such things for a higher quality and easier life. Yet, it doesnt seem to be getting better, our problems continue and in ways even increase as a result of our incessant progression towards a brighter future. Amidst the massive changes in society we face, we as a result constantly question our reality and purpose within it, and this rapid mechanized world usually pushes aside any sense of community. I think a capitalist; consumerist society creates in us a sense of alienation entirely new to our modern times. However, many other writers also began concentrating on the darker theme of naturalism. Nella Larsen s Quicksand illustrates many elements of this movement. These include a biological determinism, where man is conceived of as controlled by his primitive animal instincts and a sociological determinism, whereby the weak are destroyed and the strong survive in a world of struggle and chance. Helga Crane, Larsen s protagonist in Quicksand, illustrates the elements of both biological and sociological determinism in her inability to suppress her natural animal instinct to flee uncomfortable ... It means your opinion about a situation can be based on your own experience (or lack of experience) with it. For example, up until the day my wife said our marriage was over, I assumed many of my friends got divorced because of their work prioritization, activities, or some other faulty decisions they made. Today, I m divorced and sitting on the other side the issue. I realize that divorce can happen to anyone due to any number of causes. Divorce can be the result of sudden, clearly recognizable events or slow building, almost imperceptible issues which erode the foundation of marriage over time. It seems that for many men, the choice to divorce isn t theirs because about 70% of divorces today are initiated by women.[1] While we may not have the power to stay married, we do have the power to define our role as a parent after a divorce. Defining that role begins with understanding the baseline and the changes ahead. Self Assessment Fathers today spend more time taking care of their children compared to previous generations. The realist would go against both of the points and say that the military was the only way that we could have solved this problem. But I think that if actors played a role and we used more institutions it would have had a better outcome for the war. This is simply because liberals are liberals can see interests as both objective and subjective. Social constructivists are people who think interest exist, but they are never simply objective. I think that realist would strongly disagree with my point of view about the war and the constructivist would agree but also have some suggestions to use more norms and standards alongside using the governmental organizations. The wars in Iraq and afghanistan have always been up for debate as preventive, preemptive and defensive wars. Neta C Crawford defines a preemptive war as military action is undertaken to eliminate an immediate and credible threat of grievous harm and can only be just if there is a justified fear of an attack where the potential attacker has a clear intent to cause harm. (25). While a preventive war is started when a state believes that a war with a potential adversary is possible or likely at some future day and that, if it waits, it will lose important military advantages. In this study, numerical CFD scheme with LES turbulence closure is used for appropriate simulation of transient wind effects on a low rise building with a scale of 1:1 (full scale dimension) to yield results comparable to the experimental wind pressure measurements and also full scale field measured data with no scale issue. The so called vortex method was employed to generate the inflow wind fluctuation at inlet. In this study, in order to make certain that the developed CFD LES model of a low rise building and the inlet wind velocity fluctuations are in accordance to real world ABL properties, the full scale benchmark data from the Wind Engineering Research Field Laboratory (WERFL) at Texas Tech University (TTU) are used as field measured wind pressure and velocity data. In addition, wind tunnel measurement from NIST/UWO and open jet testing at LSU are compared with CFD LES results. The effects of correlation of wind loading on the roof of low rise buildings are investigated for each cases as well. In addition, the values of peak pressure coefficients are compared with external pressure coefficients, GCp, specified for components and cladding (C C) in ASCE 7 10. Mysticism is generally defined as a direct, personal experience of the divine. This definition lacks a key component of the mysticism found in these two works. • 35. Sympathy By Paul Laurence Dunbar With it all, I cannot help being overwhelmed by self doubts. I hope there is something worthy in my writings and not merely the novelty of a black face associated with the power to rhyme that has attracted attend , by Paul Laurence Dunbar. ( Paul Laurence Dunbar quotes ) Dunbar was a poet that experienced many difficult encounters with being African American ( Paul Laurence Dunbar 2 ). Therefore, going through these multiple sorrows in his life is what inspired his greatest works as a poet. He uses these difficulties to make poetry that can be influential to readers. Many poets have been influential on American literature, including Paul Laurence Dunbar (Munroe Paul Laurence Dunbar ). Paul Laurence Dunbar is one of the most influential ... He describes the tougher times in his life, that other people can relate too. Dunbar went through a variety of events where he couldn t do something because of his ethnicity. That is another example of what he is trying to relate to in Life s Tragedy . In the poem Dunbar uses alliteration and consonance. For example in line seven and eight, There the potent sorrow, there the grief, the pale, sad staring. The people he is speaking to is anyone that has gone through tragedies in their life that struggle to find joy. Dunbar s perspective in the poem is he has gone through too much sorrow and pain in his time, that when the good things do come it is difficult to enjoy them as you should. For example in line fifteen till the end he says, We count our joys not by what we have, But by what kept us from that perfect thing (Paul Laurence Dunbar Poem Hunter). The theme of this poem is to try and cherish the positive things in life when they come along, rather than always think about the negative that has happened in the past. • 36. The Prevalence Of Homelessness And Homelessness The Prevalence of Homelessness In this textual analysis, I m going to discuss the prevalence of homelessness in the United States. I ll be using three songs from popular culture that focus on homelessness. Different artists perform these three songs: Avril Lavigne, Bob Dylan, and Nirvana. I m going to address the values that people who are homeless may have, according to what each artist conveys through their song lyrics. Throughout the lyrics in each song, it seems like the artists are attempting to communicate to the public that homelessness is a serious issue that nobody is immune to. The values that I have gathered are bravery, hope, and perseverance. I have chosen this topic because over half a million people are homeless, the government has limited resources to help those who are homeless, and some cities are making homelessness illegal. This topic is important to me because nobody is immune to homelessness, which is terrifying and unfortunate. This topic should be important to others because homelessness is a serious problem and it seems like we tend to treat people who are homeless like they re not human beings. Some people think that if a person who s homeless wants to truly change their situation, they would simply get a job. There s clothing assistance available for people who are homeless; having access to a resource like this can help people who are homeless by providing them with appropriate clothing for job interviews. Approximately 44% of people who are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay on Ruined Maid and To His Coy Mistress Ruined Maid and To His Coy Mistress Both the Ruined Maid and To His Coy Mistress provide us with disturbing images / pictures of love, sex and relationships as I am about to explain. The Ruined Maid was written by Thomas Hardy in 1866, during the time when women didn t have sex before marriage and they were thrown out of their village for being ruined . The public at that point in history had a very strict view of sex and marriage. Will Allen has had an adventurous and eventful life that has allowed him to learn so much from his own experiences. The book is told in first person which allows the reader to feel personally connected to Will Allen as his life story unravels. As Will Allen tells his story he talks about the people who helped him along the way. He mentions how his family and the people he had met stood by his side and how they influenced him. Personally, when I read books that are told in first person point of view it makes me feel more connected to the individual, and what they are telling me. I am able to feel such a close connection and find a way to relate to the story even better. The way Will Allen s story is expressed through words on a page does not feel like that at all. I honestly felt like I was having a one on one conversation with Will Allen when reading the book. It felt like he was telling me in person all his stories and his background history. Significance Of The European Union The European Union has grown from its humble beginnings of the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC) into a complex system of governance within Europe and it has become a key figure internationally. The issue is whether the European Union (EU) has in this time grown into a supranational form of governance with the establishment of treaties, or have the nation states stayed in control. I am going to argue that the EU s supranational qualities are the allocation of shared common interests among the nation states that compose it. The rejection of the treaty in certain states was caused by globalization, which was leading to unemployment causing them to be alienated and frustrated, however, some of their complaints were already apart of the European Union, so it shows the nation state has the power to accept an idea, and then decline it at a later date as seen also by Brexit. The Lisbon Treaty stated that the power of the European Union is given by the member states in the form of treaties, which allows the member states to have several rights one of them being secession. • 46. H. J Mccloskey s Article On Being An Atheist H. J. McCloskey, an atheist author, wrote an article titled On Being an Atheist which explains why he is an atheist, his views on God, and why He believes that being an atheist is more comfortable and reasonable than believing in Christianity. While arguing against the proofs within the cosmological argument and teleological argument, McCloskey does not acknowledge the ontological argument. He then goes on to say how belief in God is not necessary and living by faith is irrational. My goal of this paper is to examine his article, point out the flaws, and prove that his arguments do not prove atheism to be true. McCloskey refers to proofs as an argument that favors God but cannot make a case for God. He then goes on to argue that those proofs should not be used and discarded. Dr. Foreman, however, suggested the accumulative case approach, which tells us to collect the proofs and evidence that says God, in fact, exists. One main reason that we cannot be one hundred percent sure when we say that God exists is the possibility of us being wrong. On one hand, Dr. Foreman argues that things that take place around us are evidence of God. However, McCloskey says that the case for God cannot be proved through Christianity.
