Bourdieu s Theory of Cultural Capital
Bourdieu s theory of cultural capital has been extremely influential, and has garnered a great deal of
literature, both theoretical and empirical. Like Marx, Bourdieu posited that capital was the foundation
of social life and dictated people s position within the social hierarchy (Bourdieu 1986). According to
Bourdieu, the more capital one possesses, the more prestigious a position one occupies in social life
(Bourdieu 1986). In addition to that, Bourdieu extended Marx s idea of capital beyond the economic
and into cultural symbolism (Bourdieu 1986). Bourdieu s concept of cultural capital that refers to the
collection of symbolic elements (e.g. skills, tastes, clothing) one acquires through being part of a
particular social niche and his concept of habitus that refers to the physical manifestation of cultural
capital owned by individuals due to life experiences are his major influential concepts that are very
useful in deconstructing power in development and social change processes. However it must be
recognized that these concepts also propagate social inequalities at the same time. This essay will
closely examine his concepts of capital that comes in three forms embodied, objectified, and
institutionalised, and habitus in the fields of education and stratification have made of it. Bourdieu s
work will be analysed in the context both of the debate on class inequalities in educational attainment
and of class reproduction in advanced capitalist societies. An important

Banksy is one of the famous English graffiti artist, film director, painter and political activist through
the use of painting. He has produced different satirical street art combined with subversive epigrams
and dark humor of graffiti. These have been executed in the distinctive stenciling method. Therefore,
the paper analyzes how Banksy has changed the people s view of graffiti as being vandalism to a form
of controversial political issues using street art. The name Banksy has ignited controversy and piqued
curiosity. He is undoubtedly one of the famous and most controversial street artists who has emerged
on the global stage. The fact that the identity Banksy remains unknown after more than twenty years
on the graffiti scene improves the intrigue that surrounds most of his work. There are various artworks
of Banksy that have appeared in, Canada, England, America, Australia, France, Palestine and Israel
and Jamaica. His pictorial, as well as, satirical messages are seen across the boundaries of art,
philosophy, politics, narcissism, sociology and humor. Most of Banksy s works are based on political
and social commentary and have been featured on different streets, bridges and walls of cities in
various countries throughout the world. In tracing his work history, Banksy s work has grown out of
the Bristol underground scene. These involved the

Analysis Of Jane Austen s The One Hand Mansfield Park
Jane Austen is an author who sticks to her own established tropes across many of her novels. Time and
time again one can encounter the same sorts of characters and similar situations in her novel. But
Mansfield Park and Emma are two novels that tend to stand out against Austen s others and what
makes them stand out is not so much a departure from her pre established tropes, but a deeper insight
into them. In examining these two novels, one might think that the only similarity between them is the
way Austen turns her own tropes on their heads. On the one hand Mansfield Park is possibly Austen s
darkest novel, featuring a desperately oppressed heroine whom readers have found hard to like. On the
other hand Emma is a lively novel full of hilariously ridiculous missteps and a heroine who wields all
the power necessary to cause those missteps. Yet they do have other things in common. For instance,
both examine themes of isolation and issues of a small community, and in both novels, day trips and
journeys serve to perpetuate that isolation, rather than relieve it.
Both Nina Auerbach and Marilyn Butler touch briefly on this theme in their respective criticisms of
Mansfield Park and Emma. Auerbach paints Fanny as a monster comparable to Frankenstein s creature
and other classic English monsters such as the vampire and even Beowulf s Grendel. She states that
like Frankenstein and his monster... Fanny is a killjoy (448), and argues that Fanny draws sustenance
from her role as

Groups in Health Service Information Systems Essay
Groups in Health Service Information Systems National Health Service (NHS) in United Kingdom is
the third largest organisation in the world after the Chinese Army and the Indian Railway (Hazel, B.,
2003). It employs approximately 1.3 million staff and provides an enormous range of medical services
to over 57 million people. Staff members came from various nationalities, ethnicities, cultures and etc;

Group affects its members psychology (Robbins, 2002; Wu and Hu, 2007). Hence, group member and
an individual staff member show different characteristics. Especially, in larger hierarchical
organisation like NHS, informal groups could be seen in every strata and every specialised area than a
horizontal organisation. In flat organisations, i.e. factories in manufacturing sector, informal groups
could easily transform into formal groups i.e. trade unions and eventually lost its informalities. This is
simply because existence of large number of staff members with similar characteristics. Hence, formal
arrangements and control is required to manage. NHS is a geographically distributed,
departmentalised and hierarchical, Therefore, number of staff members belongs to an informal group
sustain at a level and departmentalisation act as a barrier to group expansion. There are different
agendas of people who are willing to join a group; prior knowledge, skills, threat, fear, attitudes,
personality, previous experience of group work, cultural and religious factors and etc (Elwyn G et al,
2001). Therefore, organisation is a kind of social action where different individuals pursue pre
determined objective as a corporate identity. The Categorisation Theory Changes in the environment

The Liberal Era Of The Progressive Era
A great democracy has got to be progressive or it will soon cease to be great or a democracy. ( ). The
Progressive Era consisted of reformers demanding the government to clean up society. Entering office
in 1904, Theodore Roosevelt was an individual in the republican Party, but as the country began to
spin out of control Roosevelt joined the new Progressive Party and saved the country from a
disastrous ending (685). Reformers set out to cleanse the country go its wrong doings. The
progressivism agenda included: an active government to right political, economic and social wrongs

Multiple groups consolidated to fight for reform. The economic down fall was too drastic that it
effected a significant number of people from several groups, among those included young protestants,
muckrakers, and socialist. Young protestants were passionate for righting moral wrongs and up lifting
human spirts. Being raised in a protestant home prompted their interest in social actions. Even though
many of them abandoned their religious pathway of becoming ministries or missionaries they were
still discouraged in the corruption in American politics and the separation of rich and poor classes. Ida
B Wells was a young protestant known as a muckraker, whom worked in investigation journalism, her
goal was to dredge up the muck in American institutions. Ida B Well exposed John d Rockefeller as he
had turned his Standard Oil Company into monopoly. The govenor of New Year, theodore Roosevelt
gained congresses attention by his strong dedication, leadership and effort to rid the state of corruption
and patronage. This type of characteristics was exactly needed in a president during this time of
movement. Roosevelt was chosen to be McKinley s running mate. McKinley won the election but
choose Roosevelt as his vice president. McKinley was shot during his term leaving Roosevelt in
charge of the country. In 1902 Roosevelt used Sherman s antitrust act to break up the northern

Sigmund Freud In The Book, Ego And It s Discontents
Adam Stivers Sigmund Freud is one of the most well known philosophers, neurologist, and
psychologist of all time for many reasons. What Freud is mainly known for is his powerful thoughts
and beliefs on morality along with human personality. Through out the two books, The Ego and the ID
as well as Civilization and It s Discontents, both written by Freud, he uses the terms ID, ego, and
super ego quite often. The ID could be described as the structure in one s self that drives them to do
what they do. It is what controls what we as humans desire or want in life. Freud s main focus
throughout these two books is the super ego. According to Freud s beliefs, the super ego is an ego of
such perfection. Freud displays the super ego as something within

delivery of health care. Therefore, enactment of major health system reforms requires consensus
among Americans on basic values and ethics (Kardos and Allen 1993). Ironically, American beliefs
and values were not allowed a chance to play out in the political maneuvering that led to the passage
of the
ACA of 2010 (see Chapter 13).
The growth of medical science and technology (discussed in Chapter 5) has also played a key role in
shaping the US health care delivery system. Stevens (1971) points out that the technological
revolution has been primarily responsible for bringing medicine into the public domain. Advancement
of technology has influenced other factors, as well, such as medical education, growth of institutions,
and urban development. Hence, American medicine did not emerge as a professional entity until the
beginning of the 20th century, with the progress in biomedical science. Since then, the
US health care delivery system has been a growth enterprise. Debates over issues such as methods of
financing health care, quality improvement, and the appropriate role

Isolatio Isolation
As I read through the scripture this week, God reminded me it was not His will for man to be alone
and he designed us to have companionship with others. We can see in Genesis 2:18 God never
intended for us to be alone (Zondervan, n.d.). As we read Genesis 2:18, the Creator clearly states it is
not good to be alone and He provided a solution for us; He created a suitable helpmate(Zondervan,
n.d.).
Even in our pursuit for education we are not alone; many of our assignments revolve around us
interacting with our professors and peers. Our families sacrifice and accept extra duties, to allow us
time to complete our studies. We are dependent on each other and God designed it that way. I believe
He designed it that way to allow us to demonstrate His love to others because we are made in His
image.
In Exodus 17:8 16, and example of how God surrounds us with help to us accomplish the purpose He
has for us in a particular season (Zondervan, n.d.). Moreover, O Brien mentions Aaron and Hur held

Similarities Between Japanese Education And North American...
Comparison of the North American and Japanese Educational Systems
The comparison between Japanese and North American educational systems is often used. The
Japanese system, along with other Asian cultures, places importance on the group and the
interdependence of its members (Cole Cole, 2001, p. 541). The North American model, in contrast,
focuses on the ideals of individuality and independence (Cole Cole, 2001, p.541). This contrast is due
to a conflicting cultural/social structure and outlook of the world. Japanese look at the development of
self as doubled sided: the inner self and the social or public self (Hoffman, 2000, p.307). Within the
Japanese education system, the teacher s goal is to develop and cultivate both layers. ... Show more

This follows the cultural theme of interconnectedness in contrast to independence. This theme is the
backbone to the Japanese educational and cultural system.
In contrast, the North American education system stresses the ideals of individualism. The aim of the
North American system is to socialize the children to become independent individuals, who have
relationships with whom they choose (Cole Cole, 2001, p.541). This ideal of individualism influences
the way educators approach learning. Children are encouraged to strive and pursue individual
potential and needs (Hoffman, 2000, p.302). Children spend a lot of time pursuing individual activities
alone during class time. The classroom is teacher centered in terms of its direction and authority.
Whereas the Japanese teacher relies on the social structure and peers, North American teachers have
authority to direct the class (Hoffman, 2000, p.304). This adult control is an external standard placed
on the child (Hoffman, 2000, p.306). The Japanese teacher relies on the inner standards within the
child and their fellow classmates to control the child (Hoffman, 2000, p.307). In situations, such as a
child acting out in class, North American teachers assert authority where as Japanese teacher s look to
group pressure to conform and control the child.

Two Cheers For Anarchism
In this essay I will reflect upon James Scott s Two Cheers for Anarchism , exploring both the novel
and the concept of anarchism. Firstly, I will explain why I chose to focus upon Two Cheers for
Anarchism arguing that many of merits of the book result from the unusual style which Scott adopted.
Subsequently, I will justify the fragmented framework I have adopted from the book for this essay and
highlight how this style allows me to reflect much more effectively upon both the book and the
concept of anarchism. This will compromise the first section of my essay. The second fragmented
section will bring into consideration many themes from the book from the nature of historical
interpretation to queries about human nature and democracy. In lieu of a conclusion ... Show more

Furthermore, I will attempt to identify any underlying themes within the fragments and try to say why
these themes are so innate to writing about anarchism.
What makes James Scott s book persuasive, entertaining and distinctive is, in my view, the method he
employed when writing Two Cheers for Anarchism . Instead of adopting what could be called the
traditional western ideal for an argument, a premise by premise account leading the reader to a
conclusion with which no rational human could disagree. Scott adopts a much more personalised and
fragmented approach which allows him to flit from argument to argument in a manner more in tune
with the capricious nature of human thought and attention span. This personalised fragmented style
simultaneously allows Scott to engage the reader with anecdotes and avoid the characteristic dryness
of so many books which are intended to be an introduction to a political ideology. The persuasive
power of Two Cheers for Anarchism however does not arise merely from the reader friendly

Process For Settling Labor Management Disputes Peacefully
Throughout the last century the process for settling labor management disputes peacefully is known as
collective bargaining, and was given statutory legitimacy in 1935 with the adoption of the National
Labor Relations Act (NLRA) (Boniface Rashmi, 2013, Barrett, Cutcher Gershenfeld, Kochan,
Ferguson, 2007, Cutcher Gershenfeld Kochan, 2004, Cutcher Gershenfeld McKersie, 2009, Post,
2009). The NLRA gave legal authority for employees to organize and join a union for the purposes of
collectively bargaining with their employer. Collective bargaining is typically when one party (labor)
will negotiate with the other party (management) to address working conditions, wages, and hours.
However, negotiations will almost always address topics ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, section 8(d) details the obligations of each side during the collective bargaining process.
These obligations are the most specific guidelines that the NLRA provides in terms of the negotiation
process. They require both parties to meet at reasonable times, bargain in good faith in regards to
wages, hours, and working conditions, and clarify that neither of the parties are compelled to agree to
a proposal or concessions. The stipulations of section 8(d) are important in preserving the essence of
collective bargaining, ensuring that it doesn t become a meaningless exercise where only one party
participates in earnest, or both parties go through the motions without making serious proposals that
address the other party s concerns. The NLRA never specifically stated what type of bargaining
strategy must be utilized during negotiations. Knowing this, individual parties have the ability to
determine and implement the strategy and process that will best help them to achieve their goals
during the collective bargaining process. The NLRA literature outlines the various types of bargaining
processes that the parties may utilize (and which will ultimately affect the behavior of each party). The
two main bargaining processes that are used are distributive and integrative (Cutcher Gershenfeld
Kochan, 2004). In integrative bargaining, which is associated with interest based bargaining, each
party seeks to find mutually beneficial

The Day Of My Father Essay
I was born in Leon, in the Mexican state of Guanajuato, Mexico, on August 15, 1999, at Saint Luis
General Hospital. The day of my birth, my father decided to name me Fabian. While growing up in
Wisconsin, some people found it difficult to pronounce my name correctly, so my friends shorten it to
Fab. My parents moved to Racine in 1999 because a lot of our relatives had already moved to Racine.
My father was born in Leon, Guanajuato. He never enjoyed school. He found school to be boring. So
he spent most of his time playing goalkeeper for his team. At the age of 15, my father was in his last
year of school, this was when he met my mother. My mother enjoyed school because she loved to
learn new things and she was in the top of her class. An unlikely pair formed when my mother was
appointed to tutor my father. After a while, they started to go out and within three years of dating, they
got married and my mother gave birth to my eldest brother. This meant my father had to get serious
about work since he had a child to raise. I have a great deal of respect for my parents for taking jobs to
raise me and my siblings, and I am thankful for their hard work. Their hard work pushed me to
become the best I could be. They sacrificed their stead life in Mexico for a high risk life that gave me
the opportunity to have a better life.
My eldest brother, Oscar, is now 25 years old, and his favorite thing to do is to play soccer and to
work out. He is currently a Marine officer. My second

Also being reared in a hetero environment had an influence in becoming a female as well. So the
relation to the masculinity femininity continuum is that I posses both traits feminine and masculine. In
some situations I tend to carry myself as a caring and soft spoken female, is typical for feminine
behavior. On the other hand I express more masculine attributes like aggressiveness and self reliance,
which is typical for masculine behavior. Both add in the development in determining and sustaining

the development of the characteristics in becoming a woman, gender role of nurturing and caring

The Human Papillomavirus ( Hpv )
The Human Papillomavirus (HPV), a sexually transmitted disease (STD), is the most common
sexually transmitted disease in the United States with about 14 million cases each year. There are two
different types of HPV: low risk and high risk. According to the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention (CDC), more than 90 percent and 80 percent, respectively, of sexually active men and
women will be infected with at least one type of HPV at some point in their lives. Around one half of
these infections are with a high risk HPV (CDC n.p.). High risk HPV can sometimes cause cancer;
however, there is no way of predicting which infected persons could develop cancer or other serious
health problems. The most common form of HPV, low risk, causes warts; this type of HPV goes away
on its own in most cases (CDC n.p.). A vaccination, proven to prevent against four major stands of
HPV, has recently been developed. The vaccination has led to an enormous amount of controversy
regarding whether the vaccination should be mandatory. Although the vaccine is new, it has been
proven effective in preventing HPV and numerous types of cancer caused by HPV; therefore, it should
be mandatory in order to protect today s youth from HPV. Although most HPV cases are not life
threating, many believe it is best to get the vaccination. The HPV vaccination has been proven to
prevent multiple types of cancer and other effects of the disease. It is recommended that young girls

Bishop and James Wright composed vivid poetry as a road map to a significant closing. Bishop and

Bishop s The Fish and Wright s A Blessing are structured around metaphorical imagery to create
balance between beauty that is known and unknown. Both poems intentionally begin and end with

The narrator of The Fish initially stresses to portray the fish as worn out comparing its skin to ancient

Market Failure Of The Pharmaceutical Industry
Market failure appears when there is a failure in allocation of goods and services. When the market is
unsuccessful, the government is called to intervene and correct the failure. Over the years, government
participation in the pharmaceutical market has been more wide ranging than any other good or service.
With the government s ability to regulate, mandate, inform, finance and provide, their intervention to
overcome market failure can be beneficial for the economy. Market failure plays a significant role in
today s economy.
Pharmaceutical industries are a prime example. There are several possible reasons as to why and how
market failures might lead to such high prices for drugs. Information asymmetry is the most critical
form of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moreover, patients often have less knowledge than the prescriber does about the appropriateness of
the drug, where it can be very misinforming for the consumer. Lastly, drug efficacy is a problem in all
contexts. Since stakeholders are likely, less informed than manufacturers it causes both the consumer
and prescriber to depend on the manufacturer for information of the effectiveness of the drug (Bennett,
Quick, Velasquez, 2016).
Externalities, also viewed as the negative spillover effect, plays a role in market failures associated
with pharmaceuticals. In the pharmaceutical sector, externalities take place when consumers affect the
utilization of a drug s value. Externalities typically stop consumers from receiving cheaper costs for
drugs because they normally don t carry the complete costs of drug expenses. Negative externalities
induce a cycle of ongoing sales, more profits and more subsidies. Thus, if externalities are left to be
controlled by a market then the implications will lead to high pricing on products.
Recently, there had been a controversy over the rise in pharmaceutical costs involving the EpiPen in
the United States. The EpiPen, also known as adrenaline/epinephrine, is a widely used injection that is
used to treat allergic reactions. This generic drug has been available for many years. The EpiPen
controversy is a prime example of how monopoly

Hierarchical Bone
Hierarchical architecture and mechanical properties of the various constituents of the bone are
important to understand the origin of toughness and stiffness and their alterations with age and
disease.
3.1. Macrostructure: cortical and cancellous bone
At the macrostructural level, bone is divided into the cortical (or compact) and cancellous (or
trabecular) types based upon their degree of porosity or density. Histologically, it is composed of a
cortical bone wrapped around older cancellous bone having irregular, sinuous convolutions of
lamellae. It is still not clear whether cortical and cancellous bone matrices consist of the same material
or have intrinsically different mechanical properties. Based upon the nanoindentation studies, on an ...

However, cancellous bone material being much more active metabolically, is remodelled more often
than cortical bone, and hence, it is younger usually than cortical bone. Based upon the mechanical
measurements at the macroscale, cancellous bone tissue were found to have slightly lower values of
moduli as compared to the cortical bone. Cancellous bone, can be described in terms of structural as
the extrinsic properties of trabeculae and pores. The description of cancellous bone in terms of
material properties defines the trabecular struts and plates. Mechanical properties of both cortical as
well as cancellous bone at the macrostructural level usually vary from bone to bone and within
different regions of the same bone due to variation in mineralization level and apparent density values.

Leibniz s Principle Of The Identity Of Indiscernibles
Leibniz s Principle of the Identity of Indiscernibles A1: Leibniz s Principle of the Identity of
Indiscernibles (PII) The Principle of the Identity of Indiscernibles (PII) claims that in nature, there
cannot be two individual things that differ in number alone (Primary Truths, p. 32). The symbolic
notation of (PII) ∀P (Pa Pb) ( a = b) indicates that if, for every property P, thing a has property P if and
only if thing b has property P, then thing a is identical to thing b. Hence, if two things (a and b) have
exactly the same properties, they must be identical i.e. they must be the same thing (numerically one).
For example, Billy offers a complete description of all the properties that constitute Sacramento, and

will be called qualified (or derivative) primary truths. A3: Retracing Leibniz s Reasoning P1:
Unqualified Primary Truths are identities. Sub P1: P1 is supplemented by the Principle of
Contradiction (PC). P2: Qualified Primary Truths are partial identities with the help of a priori
definitions. Sub P2: P2 is supplemented by the Principle of Sufficient Reason (PSR). C: So, there
cannot be two indiscernible Primary Truths that differ in number alone (PII). Unqualified primary
truths are identities since they (i) assert themselves (e.g., A is A ) or (ii) deny the opposite of their
opposites (e.g., A is not not A ). Examples of Unqualified primary truths are: (i) I am always identical
to myself , and (ii) I am always not not identical to myself . Leibniz claims that these type truths can
be supplemented by his Principle of Contradiction (PC). PC states that anything which implies a
contradiction is false. Hence, if people disagree with the claim (i) I am always identical to myself they
would be claiming a falsehood. I can immediately point out that they are stating a contradiction i.e. A

Wuthering Heights Essays
Wuthering Heights
In the first chapter of the book the reader gets a vivid picture of the house Wuthering Heights from
Lockwood s descriptions wuthering being a significant provincial adjective, descriptive of the
atmospheric tumult to which its station is exposed in stormy weather. It quickly becomes clear that
Wuthering Heights portrays the image of its surroundings, the desolate Yorkshire moors fully exposed
to the elements.
It is not only the house that displays the environment that envelops the place it is also the occupants
and things inside the house that deliver the symbols of the raw emotion and the exposure to the cruelty

The setting is a more civilised one than that of Wuthering Heights. This is seen when Cathy and
Heathcliff run to Thrushcross Grange for the first time, they could see that it was a splendid place
carpeted with crimson covered chairs and tables, and a pure white ceiling bordered with gold. The
windows in Thrushcross Grange are large suggesting to the reader that visitors are welcome. The
opposite is true of Wuthering Heights as Lockwood describes the windows in chapter 1 the windows
are deeply set in the wall.
The Grange is shown as being refined, courteous and protective; this is reflected in the occupants of
the Grange. Edgar and Isabella have been invited to stay at Wuthering Heights, the reply has a
condition: Mrs Linton begged that her darlings might be kept carefully away from that naughty,
swearing boy. (Nelly Chapter 7). This protective nature is also seen in the second generation but more
strongly as Edgar forbids Cathy to go and visit Wuthering Heights at all. Edgar is described by
Heathcliff as a lamb, but this soft attribute that is typical of the Grange is not always a flaw of

The Increase Of Mass Killings
A rising issue in our country today is the increase of mass killings that occur. More specifically, why
are the perpetrators for these horrific events inclined to go through with these actions? Why did
Dylann Roof kill nine innocent people at the Mother Emanuel African American Episcopal Church in
Charleston, South Carolina? Why did Adam Lanza murder twenty first graders and six adults at the
Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut? Although we cannot fully answer these
questions, we can determine why these events happen so easily; primarily because of our gun control
laws. With the increase of gun violence in our country, we may be able to reduce this issue by

From its inception two centuries ago, the renowned Mother Emanuel has endured relentless pain and
hardship to emerge as a beacon of faith and fortitude for civil rights in this country, particularly in the
south. It has the distinction of being the oldest African Methodist Episcopal (AMC) church in the
United States. The church was founded in 1816 for people of color formally breaking away from
Charleston s white dominated Methodist Episcopal church. It was burned, rebuilt after the Civil War
and adopted the name Emanuel meaning God is with us . Ever conscious of its storied past, Dr. Martin
Luther King as well as other civil rights activists used Mother Emanuel to promote civil rights
(Huggins). There is a long history of violence against black churches, particularly in the south
(Resnick and Alvarez). Dylann Roof, a native South Carolinian, was well aware of Mother Emanuel s
history. A manifesto written by Roof was discovered shortly after this tragedy and offers some insight
on his distorted views. Roof never finished 10th grade or took an American history course. He wrote
that America s history of slavery was based on myths and lies, using the fact that not all Southern
whites owned slaves and claims to have read slave narratives that were positive toward slaveowners.
His twisted views are based on a white supremacy ideology and any reference of it. He followed the

The Effects Of Natural Environment On The Sound Of Waves
The Effects of the Natural Environment
The use of the natural environment allows the readers to capture the essence of a work through the
display of the seasons, sea, weather, and the land. The novel, The Sound of Waves, presents a case of
two young lovers from the rural, simplistic fishing island of Uta Jima. As the novel progresses, the
young lovers face multiple struggles that are resolved towards the end of the work. Commonly used in
The Sound of Waves, Yukio Mishima employs the sea to display the protagonist, Shinji s, dreams,

This allows the implant to move around, which helps the breast look and feel more natural. After
creation of the pocket, Dr. Esmailian uses a special device (Keller Funnel) to insert the breast implant.
The Keller Funnel minimizes the strain and friction that occurs between the incision and the implant;
thus, improving the safety of this procedure even more.
Following breast implant insertion (and fill, when applicable), Dr. Esmailian will use sutures to close
the tissue that leads to the pocket holding the implant. He will then close the outer incision. His
experience allows him to use precise suture techniques that are designed to minimize scarring. Once
closure is complete, the breast augmentation surgery is over.
RECOVERING AFTER BREAST IMPLANT SURGERY NEAR IRVINE
Patients will experience some inflammation, bruising and discomfort. These symptoms usually
subside several days after surgery. As each patient is unique, specific recovery times and limitations

Harry Potter Racism
The subjects of racism and prejudices can be very difficult to talk about in general but especially when
trying to explain those themes to children. The subjects are uncomfortable and can viewed in many
different ways. These themes have been the subject of debate for many years in regards to how to
define racism and how to talk about it in a constructive manner. One reason these subjects are so
difficult to talk about is the fear of offending someone or sounding prejudice to some degree.
Thankfully J.K. Rowling created a world where these themes can be explored safely and without fear
of offending any groups. The following research will explore the Harry Potter series and how these
themes are presented in the story. When first reading the Harry Potter series, one may not think the
subject of racism is prevalent. The race of the characters is not really touched on throughout the series,
aside from describing certain characters. For example, the character Dean Thomas is described as a
black boy even taller than Ron (Harry Potter and the Sorcerer s Stone, 122) or the character Angelina
Johnson is described as a tall black girl with long braided hair (Harry Potter and the Order of the
Phoenix, 224). The Psychology of Harry Potter An Unauthorized Examination of the Boy Who Lived,
authored by Mikhail Lyubansky, theorizes that Rowling used these racial identifiers as a way of
showing that the traditional idea of race has no place in her universe. She did not want

Stimulation Hormone is a hormone secrete by the Anterior Pituitary gland that promotes the formation
of ova and sperm. It is a peptide that is produce and stimulates the spermatozoa and regulates the
Graafian follicle in females. Follicle Stimulation Hormone is a gonadotropin, a glycoprotein
polypeptide hormone. A gonadotropin cell is produced in the anterior pituitary gland that then
regulates sexual development and reproduction function. The hormone is synthesized and also
regulates pubertal maturation. The production and release of this hormone is regulated by levels of a
number of circulating hormones in the ovaries and testes. This system is called a hypothalamic
pituitary gonadal axis. The hypothalamus releases the hormone that binds with receptors in the
anterior pituitary that stimulates and synthesis the release. The release is carried in the bloodstream

The North Atlantic Free Trade Agreement
The North Atlantic Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) has individuals on both sides of the aisle
clamoring their opinions over the cultivation and execution of the agreement. NAFTA at 20: Overview
and Trade Effects explains that NAFTA was signed into law in 1993 by United States (U.S.) President
William J. Clinton a year following President George H.W. Bush s negotiations on the agreement
(Villarreal, Fergusson, p.1). NAFTA has pushed Mexico into the world economy for the better,
however, there have been some drawbacks relating to internal policy, and external factors such as
China being added in the World Trade Organization. This paper will review the history of NAFTA as
well as the impact on the U.S. and Mexico.
In the years prior to NAFTA Mexico saw some changes in their trade habits. NAFTA at 20: Overview
and Trade Effects explains that after 1920, Mexico s foreign trade was very restricted, but started to
become liberalized in the mid 1980s. As of 2015, Mexico has FTA s with over 44 different countries.
Mexico s big involvement in foreign trade with the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT).
To gain their membership into the Free Trade Agreement (FTA), Mexico had to lower their tariff rates
and other restrictions such as import licenses (Villarreal, Fergusson, p.6 7). Mexico virtually went
from having no trade with other countries to expanding to just over 20% countries in 30 years.

The Success of the Bolshevik Revolution in Russia in October 1917
The Bolshevik seizure of power or coup de tat of October 25th, 1917 was a culmination of both
internal and external failure to satisfy the needs of an oppressed Russian society. In contrast to the
spontaneous revolts earlier in 1917, the Bolshevik revolution was a carefully planned plot carried out
by professional revolutionaries. [1] The victory of the Marxist Lenin s Bolsheviks was due to the
failure of the Provisional Government in response to land policies; their failure to gain support from

The Bolshevik revolution came to prominence because of the Provisional Government s inability to

masses; and many of its members were largely unknown to the new Russia that had burst upon the

experienced, the old (governmental machine) had disappeared; the new was not yet established. The
support of the peasantry was critical in establishing popular rule, as historian Richard Abraham
comments, the largest social class in Russia was still the peasantry. Their reaction to the coming social
conflict would be crucial not least because peasant lads in grey coats were armed. While Prince Lvov
and his cronies did inherit everything the old regime had deserted in chaos and acknowledged the
solution of the problem requires, if not years, at least several months. The Provisional Government
failed to identify growing areas of concern within the Russian empire, proving fatal to the common
perception of the government. Industrial chaos, ineffective

An Example Of Perseverance In Warriors Don T Cry
How many times in life have you struggled but got through a difficult time? That is called
perseverance. The definition of perseverance is Steadfastness in doing something despite difficulty or
delay in achieving success. Synonyms are persistence and determination. It originated from the latin
word perseverare. Right now the world has been filled with natural disasters, from hurricanes to
wildfires. Everyone that this affected has been forced to persevere through it because there is not
much that they have the ability to do besides staying strong. In all of the nonfiction literature we have
read there were many different examples of perseverance from many different people. I decided to
choose three. For my first example Melba Pattillo Beals from Warriors Don t Cry . There is numerous
examples of the Little Rock 9 and her doing something despite difficulty. For the second example of
perseverance I chose Maya Angelou. Through her life there were countless times that she was faced
adversity and still achieved success. My third example is Earl Simmons (DMX) from the book
E.A.R.L . He went through a tough time at almost all time growing up and he never gave up and
achieved success. Perseverance creates success; therefore, when you stick through something you can
accomplish what you want. In the book Warriors Don t Cry Melba Pattillo Beals and the rest of the
Little Rock 9 were faced with racism as they were trying to go to a all white school. They all had

A New Set Of National Patient Safety Essay
Introduction
In health care settings across the country patient care is compromised by various preventable mistakes.
Health care workers (HCW) are continuously pushing the boundaries of time constraints. As these
demands are increased the possibility for poor patient outcomes also increase. Prevention is the first
line of defense and promotes healthy practices for HCW and patients. The Joint Commission (TJC)
collects data pertaining to the incidences, information surrounding each case and establishes a national
quality and safety standard. TJC accredits thousands of health care establishments with the goal to
provide safety and increase the quality of care provided in each setting. In 2016 TJC released a new
set of National Patient Safety Goals (NPSG). The goals are meant to bring awareness to the accredited
facilities and HCW of concerning hazards that need to be focused on. For instance, using two
identifiers when identifying a patient to prevent medical errors, and preforming hand hygiene to
reduce the risk of infections.
Accuracy of Patient Identification
The Joint Commission, NPSG.01.01.01 is the goal for improvement of accurately identifying a
patient. The use of two patient identifiers such as name, date of birth, or a type of security number that
will assure the right patient gets the right treatment, care, or service. Complications that arise from
misidentification of a patient may range from mild to Sentinel event. One could consider an

Summary Of The Cosmological Argument
In critiquing the article written by William Lane Craig title The Cosmological Argument let me first
define how some define the cosmological argument. In reading about the cosmological argument it is
basically an argument that begins with the existence of the universe and tries to prove God s existence.
Thomas Aquinas said it this way, (1) everything in the universe is moved by something else. Unless
we can go back in time forever, with things being constantly moved by something else, there must be
a point where movement started. (Godwin) Aquinas goes on to say, there must be a Prime mover that
began movement in the Universe, when there was nothing, and this is God. (Godwin) In the bible, it
states, In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and
empty, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The author also supports his beliefs with the Kalam Cosmological Argument. He states, Whatever
began to exist has a cause, the universe began to exist therefore, the universe has a cause. (Copan
Meister) In the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson, shallow men believe in luck or in circumstance.
Strong men believe in cause and effect. In support of the cosmological argument, the author states, to
suggest that things just pop into being uncaused out of nothing is to quit doing serious metaphysics
and resort to magic. In reading the material, the author highlights how God in all of his wisdom and
power set the earth in perfect motion in such a way that the laws are perfectly balanced not only for
human life but for coexistence of plants and animals and all living organisms. Furthermore, if not for
the right combination of laws then life as we know it would be

Analysis Of The Song Cortez The Killer
When using the song Cortez the Killer as a source on the European Conquistadors, a historian should

credibility of the source and the type of information they can give, which refers to things such as
perspective. Firstly, the song Cortez the Killer is a secondary source written by Neil Young in 1975. A

leading up to the NHL Entry Draft was filled with nervous anticipation for Schemitsch, who relied
upon advice from his brother Geoffrey, a veteran of over 200 games in the OHL. I was pretty nervous,
the Thornhill, ON native said of the process. Just thinking about it a lot at night and eventually fell
asleep. My brother has always been there for me, gave me tips on how to handle things and gave me
advice to just enjoy it. The Panthers will certainly enjoy having him on board, as he put together a 14
goal and 35 assist season, an improvement of 32 points from his rookie season. Those totals were
good for ninth overall in OHL scoring by defensemen, meaning the Panthers are getting a player who

  • 2. Bourdieu s Theory of Cultural Capital Bourdieu s theory of cultural capital has been extremely influential, and has garnered a great deal of literature, both theoretical and empirical. Like Marx, Bourdieu posited that capital was the foundation of social life and dictated people s position within the social hierarchy (Bourdieu 1986). According to Bourdieu, the more capital one possesses, the more prestigious a position one occupies in social life (Bourdieu 1986). In addition to that, Bourdieu extended Marx s idea of capital beyond the economic and into cultural symbolism (Bourdieu 1986). Bourdieu s concept of cultural capital that refers to the collection of symbolic elements (e.g. skills, tastes, clothing) one acquires through being part of a particular social niche and his concept of habitus that refers to the physical manifestation of cultural capital owned by individuals due to life experiences are his major influential concepts that are very useful in deconstructing power in development and social change processes. However it must be recognized that these concepts also propagate social inequalities at the same time. This essay will closely examine his concepts of capital that comes in three forms embodied, objectified, and institutionalised, and habitus in the fields of education and stratification have made of it. Bourdieu s work will be analysed in the context both of the debate on class inequalities in educational attainment and of class reproduction in advanced capitalist societies. An important ... • 4. Analysis Of Jane Austen s The One Hand Mansfield Park Jane Austen is an author who sticks to her own established tropes across many of her novels. Time and time again one can encounter the same sorts of characters and similar situations in her novel. But Mansfield Park and Emma are two novels that tend to stand out against Austen s others and what makes them stand out is not so much a departure from her pre established tropes, but a deeper insight into them. In examining these two novels, one might think that the only similarity between them is the way Austen turns her own tropes on their heads. On the one hand Mansfield Park is possibly Austen s darkest novel, featuring a desperately oppressed heroine whom readers have found hard to like. On the other hand Emma is a lively novel full of hilariously ridiculous missteps and a heroine who wields all the power necessary to cause those missteps. Yet they do have other things in common. For instance, both examine themes of isolation and issues of a small community, and in both novels, day trips and journeys serve to perpetuate that isolation, rather than relieve it. Both Nina Auerbach and Marilyn Butler touch briefly on this theme in their respective criticisms of Mansfield Park and Emma. Auerbach paints Fanny as a monster comparable to Frankenstein s creature and other classic English monsters such as the vampire and even Beowulf s Grendel. She states that like Frankenstein and his monster... Fanny is a killjoy (448), and argues that Fanny draws sustenance from her role as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In flat organisations, i.e. factories in manufacturing sector, informal groups could easily transform into formal groups i.e. trade unions and eventually lost its informalities. Young protestants were passionate for righting moral wrongs and up lifting human spirts. Being raised in a protestant home prompted their interest in social actions. Even though many of them abandoned their religious pathway of becoming ministries or missionaries they were still discouraged in the corruption in American politics and the separation of rich and poor classes. Ida B Wells was a young protestant known as a muckraker, whom worked in investigation journalism, her goal was to dredge up the muck in American institutions. Ida B Well exposed John d Rockefeller as he had turned his Standard Oil Company into monopoly. We can see in Genesis 2:18 God never intended for us to be alone (Zondervan, n.d.). As we read Genesis 2:18, the Creator clearly states it is not good to be alone and He provided a solution for us; He created a suitable helpmate(Zondervan, n.d.). Even in our pursuit for education we are not alone; many of our assignments revolve around us interacting with our professors and peers. Our families sacrifice and accept extra duties, to allow us time to complete our studies. We are dependent on each other and God designed it that way. • 14. Similarities Between Japanese Education And North American... Comparison of the North American and Japanese Educational Systems The comparison between Japanese and North American educational systems is often used. The Japanese system, along with other Asian cultures, places importance on the group and the interdependence of its members (Cole Cole, 2001, p. 541). The North American model, in contrast, focuses on the ideals of individuality and independence (Cole Cole, 2001, p.541). This contrast is due to a conflicting cultural/social structure and outlook of the world. Japanese look at the development of self as doubled sided: the inner self and the social or public self (Hoffman, 2000, p.307). In contrast, the North American education system stresses the ideals of individualism. The aim of the North American system is to socialize the children to become independent individuals, who have relationships with whom they choose (Cole Cole, 2001, p.541). This ideal of individualism influences the way educators approach learning. Children are encouraged to strive and pursue individual potential and needs (Hoffman, 2000, p.302). Children spend a lot of time pursuing individual activities alone during class time. The classroom is teacher centered in terms of its direction and authority. Whereas the Japanese teacher relies on the social structure and peers, North American teachers have authority to direct the class (Hoffman, 2000, p.304). This adult control is an external standard placed on the child (Hoffman, 2000, p.306). Firstly, I will explain why I chose to focus upon Two Cheers for Anarchism arguing that many of merits of the book result from the unusual style which Scott adopted. Subsequently, I will justify the fragmented framework I have adopted from the book for this essay and highlight how this style allows me to reflect much more effectively upon both the book and the concept of anarchism. Instead of adopting what could be called the traditional western ideal for an argument, a premise by premise account leading the reader to a conclusion with which no rational human could disagree. Scott adopts a much more personalised and fragmented approach which allows him to flit from argument to argument in a manner more in tune with the capricious nature of human thought and attention span. The stipulations of section 8(d) are important in preserving the essence of collective bargaining, ensuring that it doesn t become a meaningless exercise where only one party participates in earnest, or both parties go through the motions without making serious proposals that address the other party s concerns. The NLRA never specifically stated what type of bargaining strategy must be utilized during negotiations. Knowing this, individual parties have the ability to determine and implement the strategy and process that will best help them to achieve their goals during the collective bargaining process. The NLRA literature outlines the various types of bargaining processes that the parties may utilize (and which will ultimately affect the behavior of each party). According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), more than 90 percent and 80 percent, respectively, of sexually active men and women will be infected with at least one type of HPV at some point in their lives. Around one half of these infections are with a high risk HPV (CDC n.p.). Since stakeholders are likely, less informed than manufacturers it causes both the consumer and prescriber to depend on the manufacturer for information of the effectiveness of the drug (Bennett, Quick, Velasquez, 2016). Externalities, also viewed as the negative spillover effect, plays a role in market failures associated with pharmaceuticals. In the pharmaceutical sector, externalities take place when consumers affect the utilization of a drug s value. Externalities typically stop consumers from receiving cheaper costs for drugs because they normally don t carry the complete costs of drug expenses. Negative externalities induce a cycle of ongoing sales, more profits and more subsidies. Leibniz s Principle Of The Identity Of Indiscernibles Leibniz s Principle of the Identity of Indiscernibles A1: Leibniz s Principle of the Identity of Indiscernibles (PII) The Principle of the Identity of Indiscernibles (PII) claims that in nature, there cannot be two individual things that differ in number alone (Primary Truths, p. 32). The symbolic notation of (PII) ∀P (Pa Pb) ( a = b) indicates that if, for every property P, thing a has property P if and only if thing b has property P, then thing a is identical to thing b. The church was founded in 1816 for people of color formally breaking away from Charleston s white dominated Methodist Episcopal church. It was burned, rebuilt after the Civil War and adopted the name Emanuel meaning God is with us . Ever conscious of its storied past, Dr. Martin Luther King as well as other civil rights activists used Mother Emanuel to promote civil rights (Huggins). There is a long history of violence against black churches, particularly in the south (Resnick and Alvarez). Dylann Roof, a native South Carolinian, was well aware of Mother Emanuel s history. A manifesto written by Roof was discovered shortly after this tragedy and offers some insight on his distorted views. Roof never finished 10th grade or took an American history course. • 31. Harry Potter Racism The subjects of racism and prejudices can be very difficult to talk about in general but especially when trying to explain those themes to children. The subjects are uncomfortable and can viewed in many different ways. These themes have been the subject of debate for many years in regards to how to define racism and how to talk about it in a constructive manner. One reason these subjects are so difficult to talk about is the fear of offending someone or sounding prejudice to some degree. Thankfully J.K. Rowling created a world where these themes can be explored safely and without fear of offending any groups. The following research will explore the Harry Potter series and how these themes are presented in the story. When first reading the Harry Potter series, one may not think the subject of racism is prevalent. The race of the characters is not really touched on throughout the series, aside from describing certain characters. For example, the character Dean Thomas is described as a black boy even taller than Ron (Harry Potter and the Sorcerer s Stone, 122) or the character Angelina Johnson is described as a tall black girl with long braided hair (Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, 224). The Psychology of Harry Potter An Unauthorized Examination of the Boy Who Lived, authored by Mikhail Lyubansky, theorizes that Rowling used these racial identifiers as a way of showing that the traditional idea of race has no place in her universe. • 39. An Example Of Perseverance In Warriors Don T Cry How many times in life have you struggled but got through a difficult time? That is called perseverance. The definition of perseverance is Steadfastness in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success. Synonyms are persistence and determination. It originated from the latin word perseverare. Right now the world has been filled with natural disasters, from hurricanes to wildfires. Everyone that this affected has been forced to persevere through it because there is not much that they have the ability to do besides staying strong. In all of the nonfiction literature we have read there were many different examples of perseverance from many different people. I decided to choose three. For my first example Melba Pattillo Beals from Warriors Don t Cry . There is numerous examples of the Little Rock 9 and her doing something despite difficulty. For the second example of perseverance I chose Maya Angelou. Through her life there were countless times that she was faced adversity and still achieved success. My third example is Earl Simmons (DMX) from the book E.A.R.L . He went through a tough time at almost all time growing up and he never gave up and achieved success. Perseverance creates success; therefore, when you stick through something you can accomplish what you want. In the book Warriors Don t Cry Melba Pattillo Beals and the rest of the Little Rock 9 were faced with racism as they were trying to go to a all white school. They all had courage ... In reading about the cosmological argument it is basically an argument that begins with the existence of the universe and tries to prove God s existence. Thomas Aquinas said it this way, (1) everything in the universe is moved by something else. Unless we can go back in time forever, with things being constantly moved by something else, there must be a point where movement started. (Godwin) Aquinas goes on to say, there must be a Prime mover that began movement in the Universe, when there was nothing, and this is God. In support of the cosmological argument, the author states, to suggest that things just pop into being uncaused out of nothing is to quit doing serious metaphysics and resort to magic. In reading the material, the author highlights how God in all of his wisdom and power set the earth in perfect motion in such a way that the laws are perfectly balanced not only for human life but for coexistence of plants and animals and all living organisms.
