Aristotle s theory of the Tragic Hero
Aristotle s theory of the Tragic Hero:
A man doesn t become a hero until he can see the root of his own downfall
Tragic hero s who fit under Aristotle s depiction are known as Aristotelian Tragic Hero s and
possess five specific characteristics;
1) A flaw or error of judgment (also known as hamartia which is a fatal flaw leading to the downfall
of a tragic hero or heroine)
2) A reversal of fortune due to the error of judgment (also known as peripeteia , which is a sudden
reversal of fortune or change in circumstances)
3) The discovery or recognition that the reversal was brought about by the hero s own actions
(Referred to as anagnorisis , which is a moment in a play when a character makes a critical
discovery)
4) Excessive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A good plot progresses like a knot that is tied up with increasingly greater complexity until the
moment of peripeteia, at which point the knot is gradually untied until it reaches a completely
unknotted conclusion.
For a tragedy to arouse pity and fear, we must observe a hero who is relatively noble going from
happiness to misery as a result of error on the part of the hero. Our pity and fear is aroused most
when it is family members who harm one another rather than enemies or strangers. In the best kind
of plot, one character narrowly avoids killing a family member unwittingly thanks to an anagnorisis
that reveals the family connection. The hero must have good qualities appropriate to his or her
station and should be portrayed realistically and consistently. Since both the character of the hero
and the plot must have logical consistency, Aristotleconcludes that the untying of the plot must
follow as a necessary consequence of the plot and not from stage artifice, like a deus ex machina
(a machine used in some plays, in which an actor playing one of the gods was lowered onto the
stage at the end).
Aristotle discusses thought and diction and then moves on to address epic poetry. Whereas
tragedy consists of actions presented in a dramatic form, epic poetry consists of verse presented in
a narrative form. Tragedy and epic poetry have many common qualities, most notably the unity of
plot and similar subject matter. However, epic poetry can be longer than

Like Any Scientific Discipline, Sociology Has Its Own Object
Like any scientific discipline, sociology has its own object and subject of research. The object is
understood as the sphere of reality that is to be studied, and to this the research is directed.
Consequently, the object of sociology is society. But society is explored by many disciplines, such
as history, philosophy, economics, political science, etc. At the same time, each of the named social
sciences distinguishes its specific aspects, the properties of the object, which become the subject of
its study. It is quite difficult to determine the subject of sociology, because throughout the history of
its development, representatives of various schools and directions have expressed and are still
expressing different views on the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Contradictions in nature, society, thinking, the struggle between people, classes, states all this is a
manifestation of conflicts. The subject of sociology in Max Weber is subjective, attached to man.
Emile Durkheim has a different way of thinking. He declared social science the subject of the
science of society, by which he understood norms, laws, values, representations of people, social
institutions, organizations and ideas in general, materialized in the form of, for example, buildings
and structures. Each generation of individuals finds their set of social facts, which determines the
behavior of people. Emile Durkheim s approach to the subject of sociology is objective, not
dependent on a particular person s character.
The ideas of the Classics who laid the foundations of conflictology were perceived and developed
as follows. For example, Emile Durkheim one of the founders of the French sociological school
puts an equal sign between the social status and social solidarity. He believed that people unite in
societies not for individual and group enmity, but because of mutual needs in each other. For Max
Weber, the subject of emotional action was not society as a whole, but an individual whose
position is connected with a certain social status. From his point of view, society is the interaction
of people who are the product of social actions, those who are oriented toward other people. They
are anxious to preserve or even strengthen their

What Is The Fashion Of Fashion In The 1960s
60s Fashion in America
The 1960s were a time of big change across the United States of America. Fashion was one of the
most memorable (parts) of the 60s. The 1950s sound was still popular and the waist tight skirts
and clean, sharp look was still worn by many. The style of fashion was new and unfamiliar to the
people who grew up in the 1940s and 50s. One of the most surprising trends was the box dresses
that women wore. They were very short and showed much more skin than the parents of the
teenagers in that era, would have liked. They were used to much more conservative types of clothing
. Fashion evolved, along with the new generation who inspired that fashion. Hairstyles and clothing
changed, due to a new era of icons and state of minds.
Hairstyles in the 50s were much more traditional and looked very conservative. They replicated the
styles of the 1930s and 40s. They had many more curls than the hairstyles of the 60s. The women
wore buffontants and flipped hair. Bouffants had hair above the crown of the head, covering the
ears and women who wore this style usually had shoulder length hair. Another popular women s
style was the flipped hair Usually worn with bouffants, the flipped hairstyle was one where the ends
of the hair were flipped in toward the face. Both hair styles were used in ads for clothes and
products during the 60s, spreading the look across America with the help of icons. Flips and
bouffants are most characterized by the 60s, making them the most

Paul Signac s Breakfast In The Dining Room
Paul Signac was a French painter who helped develop the pointillist style. He was born on
November 11, 1863 in Paris, France where he began his artistic career. He decided he wanted to
become an artist after viewing an exhibition of Monet s work in 1880. His family were wealthy
shopkeepers and encouraged him to study architecture, however, his early interest in painting
continued into adulthood. His father and grandpa were both saddlemakers, but the store was still
under his name. During the Franco Prussian War, he was sent to northern France to live with his
grandmother because his family didn t want him to get into harm s way. Since Signac had to stay
there for the time being, he was enrolled in a college named Rollin in Montmartre. Soon... Show

These two artists shared an interest for science behind color and perception, so Signac worked with
Seurat to create a painting style that used optical effects. (Paul Signac) They applied small dabs of
colors closely together on canvas, using various shades that appeared to merge from a distance.
Using pointillism, Signac created two paintings that became very popular, one of which, was
called Breakfast in the Dining Room (Meyer). This painting was actually based on his own family,
and it featured his mother, grandfather and housekeeper. The figures present at the lunch table
appear to be in silence. It portrays a family that lacks interaction and a feeling of home.
Signac s style was very similar to his good friend, Georges Seurat. For example, Signac s oil
painting Breakfast in the Dining Room appears to look like Seurat s Sunday in the Park on the
Island of Grande Jatte .(Jackson) Signac based this pinwheel design on a Japanese print, but
replaced it with his own colors and patterns to represent himself. Till this day, it is still a mystery
as to why Signac drew this, but it is rumored that both Seurat and Signac worked on each others

Mary Shelly Influence On Frankenstein
It s been said that writers write about what they know, that they draw on life experiences, that the
people around them shape the main characters, and sometimes the characters even reflect the author
s life, their choices, or even their view and attitude towards life. Within the writing of Frankenstein,
there are many different relationships shown within the story, and there are relationships that have
contributed to the shape of the story as well. There are many parallels between the feminist theory,
and the making of Frankenstein, which can be largely looked at along with Mary Shelly s
relationship with her parents. More parallels reside in how she acted when the book was being
published which was largely reflected in the character of Victor, and once again in Victor s
relationship with his creation. This can all lead back to the feminist theory and the gendered
spheres that is experienced in different... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Growing up with parents who were literary scholars would make someone get into the habit of
writing, especially if they start their children at a young age, so it is not a shock that Shelly
would start writing at a young age too, and use it as a pastime. As Shelly grew up, she noted that
reality stood in place of fiction, however, it was Percy, her husband, who suggested that she start
writing again. It was also Percy who asked if she could, prove herself worthy of her parentage.
He pushed for her to enroll herself on the page of fame, and to obtain literary reputation (21). One
could say that Percy highly encouraged Shelly to follow in her parents footsteps, but not so much
to see if she could do any thing worthy of notice, but so that he might be the judge to see how
much promise she had at bettering their lives

The And Collective Memory Of The First World War
Contemporary Canadian reimagining of the First World war is from the book Catching the
torch by a Brock University teacher Neta Gordon. She wrote this book in 2014. She tries to
explain to the reader the conflict between history and collective memory of the First World War.
With many other essays, she focuses on the role of the Canadian army in the First World war. As
we know, the Canadian army entered the war in early 1915 to offer help to the Britain soldiers
fighting against the Germans. The Canadian army was basically forced to join because they were a
member of the British Empire.
On the one hand, Gordon quotes from Jonathan Vance s Death So Noble: Memory, meaning and
the First world war: the dominant or collective memory of a ... Show more content on

Most of the work that Gordon studied and with the publication date from this book, we can also
say that collective memory is not a whole. Most of the soldiers are dead at this time and she had
to rely on works that were published years later after the First War. Gordon quoted Winter in the
first few chapters of her book, he stated: This sense of the socially constructed nature of
collective memory is vital to historical study, since it precludes talking about memory as if it
exists independently of the people who share it (2). From what I understand from the few pages
that we had to read and with my research done with the whole book, the collective memory is
based on the present memory, but since the soldiers they rely on are no longer in a group or in the
same place, it is mostly a memory from one person.
Another thing she said that made me realize how true her statement was with the novel that we
studied during this term. She stated that: many of the narratives this volume examines rehabilitate
the figure of the father and/or conception of productive masculinity; many follow in the tradition
of early twentieth century home front novels by women to consider the value of female work, in
wartime and beyond [...] and most conclude with a look to the future (which is now the present)
and a sense of promise that is decidedly free from irony. (21 22)

Analysis Of Dr. Jekyll And Mr. Hyde By Robert Lewis Stevenson
As the cities in the nineteenth century grew and expanded, more and more people moved from
the countryside to said cities. With an increase in the size and population of the city a individual s
anonymity increased as well. Both the Paris Morgue and the novella Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
written by Robert Lewis Stevenson portray the anonymity of modern city life. While middle class
men often appreciated the anonymity of the city, because it allowed them to escape social class
restrictions, they also feared some of the negative implications. The working class, on the other
hand, might have enjoyed the new found entertainment options, however they also had to fear
being victims of crime and ending as nameless corpses. Women, both from the middle class and
working class, experienced more freedom through the entertainment and leisure time options
available due to the anonymous character of the city. For the middle class man the anonymity of
the city promised freedom from social restrictions, that hindered him from behaving in ways that
were unseeming for a man of his standing. In his novella Stevenson writes about a wealthy
middle class doctor, Dr. Henry Jekyll, who through a potion, could turn himself into a different
person. This second personality of his being called Edward Hyde. Mr. Hyde represents the more
sinister and evil part of Jekyll s personality, which had been split after he first took his potion.
Before making his potion Jekyll often had desires that were not

Dialectic Neocapitalist Theory In The Works Of Tarantino
Dialectic neocapitalist theory in the works of Tarantino
1. Tarantino and Derridaist reading
In the works of Tarantino, a predominant concept is the concept of dialectic truth. However,
Baudrillard promotes the use of modernism to read and modify class. Many desituationisms
concerning the role of the participant as poet exist.
If one examines prematerial Marxism, one is faced with a choice: either accept modernism or
conclude that the task of the participant is deconstruction, given that prematerial Marxism is
invalid. Therefore, the premise of dialectic neocapitalist theory implies that academe is
intrinsically a legal fiction. The primary theme of Geoffrey s[1] essay on prematerial Marxism is a
capitalist whole.
The characteristic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The subject is interpolated into a dialectic neocapitalist theory that includes narrativity as a reality.
Therefore, Dahmus[5] holds that the works of Spelling are not postmodern. The primary theme of
the works of Spelling is the role of the writer as participant.
It could be said that the premise of Sontagist camp implies that language is used to entrench the
status quo. The characteristic theme of Scuglia s[6] model of prematerial Marxism is not
dematerialism, but predematerialism.
2. Subdialectic discourse and Marxist capitalism
If one examines modernism, one is faced with a choice: either reject Marxist capitalism or conclude
that the significance of the artist is significant form, but only if narrativity is interchangeable with
culture; otherwise, sexuality is capable of intentionality. Therefore, Sartre uses the term dialectic
neocapitalist theory to denote the role of the participant as poet. Marx s essay on capitalist
materialism suggests that society has intrinsic meaning, given that the premise of Marxist
capitalism is valid.
quot;Sexual identity is responsible for sexism, quot; says Sontag; however, according to Drucker[7]
, it is not so much sexual identity that is responsible for sexism, but rather the failure, and thus the
meaninglessness, of sexual identity. However, the primary theme of the works of Spelling is a
conceptual totality. If dialectic

Purpose
The purpose of this lab is to observe the various osmosity rates of different vegetables and the
relationship of the surface area to volume ratio and rate of diffusion. In activity 1, we hypothesize
that the agar cubes with higher surface area to volume ratio have higher rate of diffusion.
Reversely, the agar cubes with lower surface area to volume ratio have lower rate of diffusion. In
the activity 2, we hypothesize the potato has higher osmosity rate than carrot.

experimenters used the knife to cut the cubes in half and used the metric ruler to measure the
distance from the edge of the cube to the edge of pink area. Then, the experimenters culculated and

Sex is one of the differences that are easily compared between both shows. Specifically, who s

There s more to life than romantic love, but not a lot more to Bella s life she does make decisions
and pursue the goals important to her.
Elena also has quite a bit of agency. She, too, is the one actively pursuing Stefan, at least in the
beginning. Thankfully, she also pursues goals beyond him: she is struggling to come to terms
with her parents deaths; she wants to help her brother, Jeremy, find a better way to deal with his
grief; she s trying to find her place in the hierarchy of the school social structure when she s
changed and no longer is interested in the place she held before, etc. Her attraction to and, later,
love of Stefan are but part of her personality and that which drives her to act.
Elena does get to see more action than Bella, both sexually but also plot related. She is right there
when vampires attack or a ghost possesses Bonnie or the secret vampire hunters search for
vampires at town, etc. She is fully a part of the human world, comfortable with her friends and
family, and she makes difficult choices in order to keep them safe.
I much prefer Elena to Bella, at least in part because I feel like I know her better and that she is a
more positive role model, but both make decisions and take steps to achieve their goals. I may not
agree with those goals or those actions, but neither Elena nor Bella is a completely blank, inactive
character.

The Crisis Involving Smithville Industrial Chemical Plant...
Responding to crises is an important part of organizational behavior today, especially because of
the effects that have been seen in the previous crises involving prominent organizations such as BP
and the Sandusky case. Ensuring that the company has some sort of backup plan when the
company goes into the limelight on issues, is an important part of making sure that the
stakeholders can be forgiving and go past the crises without much loss to the company. This paper
is a case study of the crisisinvolving Smithville Industrial Chemical plant and the mistakes that they
made in the course of the media coverage of the spill on White River.
In this particular case, the first mistake that the company made was failing to respond
immediately in the course of the reporting of the spill on the news. When the news reached the
executive officer at his house, this meant that he was not available in his office to receive
information on the spill as it was happening. Thus, he was caught unawares and this was
disastrous for the company. Having the knowledge of the events as they happen in the company
is the most important role of the executive officer. It is seen as the duty that the leader has
towards the organization that they are aware of the happenings of their company, and that they are
doing their job. It is an overall sign of preparation for the company to respond to events that may
be adverse to the company (Lee, 2008). The need for prompt response is seen when the company

Question 1a. Write a one page concise or two pages double spaced summary explaining the Federal
Reserve.
Basically, the Federal Reserve System is a banking system of the United States. It was created in
1913, with the enactment of the Federal reserve Act (2014). There are many responsibilities the
Federal Reserves has which include, supervision and regulation, monetary policy, payment services
and finally the financial stability. President Woodrow Wilson signed the Federal Reserve Act, into
a law. There are also many events that led up to the signing of the Federal Reserve Act that stuck
out to me.
The money and banking systems weren t the same in Colonial America. Colonial banks were not
allowed to accept deposits from the public or make loans. Instead, they issued paper currency
backed by metals and goals. Colonists were also limited to using bartering, European coinage as
their primary means of exchange. The legislation created a uniform national currency and permitted
only nationally chartered banks to issue bank notes (2014).
There was a period of a free banking era. There was a huge need for a reliable banking system
during the civil war. Many banks did not keep enough money on hand to meet the normal demands.
People lost their confidence in the banks and then began to go take their money out. This triggered
a succession of bank failures. The Federal Reserve System had a severe financial crisis, in

Babies receive electric shocks in the presence of flowers and books so that they will grow up
with what the psychologists ... call an instinctive hatred of books and flowers ... they ll be safe
from books and botany all their lives (Huxley, 18). The conditioning of the children forms a barrier
in their minds, so that they are never free to decide for themselves, but are always bounded by the
instructions of the state. Hypnopaedia is another form of psychological conditioning. It is used to
teach moral education. While they sleep, the children of the new world are drilled with moral
education such as when the individual feels, the community reels, [and] ...cleanliness is next to
fordliness (Huxley, 98). These phrases are repeated thousands of times throughout childhood till at
last the child s mind is these suggestions ... the mind that judges and desires and decides... (Huxley,
25).
Psychological conditioning in the new world is much like the television programs of today. The
programs repeatedly tell their obedient worshippers to consume name brand material and to follow
the lifestyles of the characters in the programs while the true masterminds slowly take away their
devoted members hard earned wealth. The psychological conditioning limits the mental freedom of
the citizens so that they are never at liberty to decide what they want

Nazi Germany And The Nazi Party Essay
Propaganda was significant in Germany in the period of 1933 to 1945 as it affected the people
of Germany greatly since propaganda was presented to people in their everyday lives in some
manner or form, making it inescapable. Propaganda was used mainly to display anti Semitic beliefs
about Jews and others who were thought of as irrelevant to Nazi Germanysuch as the disabled,
mentally ill, gypsies, communists and non Aryans who were all affected greatly by propaganda.
Hitler and the Nazi Party achieved this through their propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels who
used every form of media (radio, posters, newspapers, films, music and the arts) to portray the
greatness of German culture. Though, some of these forms of propaganda displayed different levels
of effectiveness making some forms more significant than others.
One of the most significant forms of propaganda in their impact on Germany was the use of
radio. Radios and radio licences summed to 90% of the ministry s expenses, which show how
Hitler s messages, speeches and Nazi related broadcasts reached such a broad audience of the
German population because radio was extremely accessible. Hitler made sure that radios were
cheap enough for every family to afford so that his speeches were publicised, giving Hitler more
opportunity to manipulate Germany and glorify the Nazi party. The significance of this form of
propaganda is that the radio was such a regular part of family life, and would ve been played

High Tech Companies Like Arm Are Often Cited As Great...
6. High tech companies like ARM are often cited as great examples of UK success. What
drawbacks does such an emphasis have? Although high technology manufacturing (and by
extension high tech companies that operate in that sector) is a good way for the UK to improve
its productivity (output per labour force) and its global competitiveness [6], too much emphasis
on high tech companies present possible drawbacks. Firstly, there is a mismatch in skills
required by the high tech industry and the actual skillsets of the UK labour force. Only 27.2% of
the UK population aged 16 to 74 have a degree or equivalent or higher [2]. Taking cognizance of
the fact that most high tech jobs require at least a degree, undue emphasis on that sector neglects
the other 72.8% of the population. And this neglect has dire consequences. As evidenced by the
recent UK referendum vote to leave the EU and the rise of the US presidential candidate Donald
Trump, if a substantial part of the population feel left behind or disillusioned with the economy, it
can lead to political unrest, and possible negative populist decisions that can hurt the general
economy. Generally, businesses do not thrive under uncertainties. The political uncertainty brought
about by the recent UK referendum was cited by business leaders as the top risk facing UK
businesses [6]. These political risks negatively affect the general economy, in terms of both
reductions in GDP growth and value of the UK pounds sterling. Another

Although he didn t think he would have a career in PayPal, SpaceX or Tesla, he wanted to at
least be involved in one of them. The way Musk thinks is by the first principles of thinking,
which is essentially a mode of inquiry that constantly pursues the foundations of a problem. The
first principles method was crucial to the beginning of SpaceX. When Musk was trying to figure
out the price of their first rockets he thought historically all rockets have been expensive and
therefore all rockets in the future will be expensive. But that s not entirely true, although he
found them too expensive, he thought if he manufactured them it could be cheaper. Fortunately
it did turned out to be cheaper, instead of buying a rocket for $20 million they built their own for
about $6 million. Now going into the car industry his best bet that would probably take him far
was electric cars and at the time he was studying advanced capacitors, which are essentially long
lasting batteries. Musk thought if he could create this long lasting battery, then he could
revolutionize the car industry. And as most people think when trying something new, Musk
wasn t sure if success was a possible outcome. Nevertheless he wanted to embark on something
that is desirable to figure out if success was at least one of the possibilities. And he was prepared
to face whatever trial he found himself in. Afterward Musk talks about his idea or goal in Tesla,
and his motive is not to compete and try to become the top car brand, but to have a catalytic effect

Analysis Of The Poem Mont Blanc
Percy Shelley opens his poem, Mont Blanc by noting how imperative the human mind is in
regard to nature. The first few lines establish a relation that is essential to all life. With these lines
alone, Shelley is pulling from many of the inclinations made by William Wordsworth in his poem,
Tintern Abbey . There is however an expansion made on Wordsworth s affections toward nature
and its aweing power; while Shelley agrees that there is only a small amount of those who can
truly grasp the full intention of what the natural world teaches, he largely finds nature in defiance
with man s own predilections and perceptions regarding its behavior and influence. Mont Blanc
seeks out nature s sublime instead of its lovely and simplistic benevolence. In some ways, Mont
Blanc is a deeper examination and deconstruction of what Tintern Abbey constructs as a beautiful
but surface level and thus shallow perceptionof what nature is capable of at its most powerful, and
then asks how that influences the creative human mind.
Both poems assert in their own ways that we are indelibly at the mercy of learning from nature and
bending to its influence. Our five senses allow us to experience it, but more than that we also
receive emotional stimulation as well. Tintern Abbey achieves an essence of the sublime by
memory sustained and perfected through the combined power of the human mind (especially one
of poetic fancy) and nature s beautiful force something of meditation. Wordsworth

proves that Tesla is setting their business up for success as they will begin to see revenue after
hitting this mark (Kimmel, Weygandt, Kieso, 2009). The only problem Tesla faces is the huge
demand for their product with more than 5,000 advanced orders pending fulfillment (Morris,

Schlieffen Pl War Against France And Russia
The Schlieffen Plan was the German s plan for war against France and Russia. It was created by
Alfred von Schlieffen who was the German Chief of Staff in 1903 on the request of Kaiser
Wilhelm II and it was later revised in 1905. The reason it was made was because Germany s
unification came later than other European states. So the Kaiser sought out Schlieffen and directed
him to devise a plan that would allow Germanyto gain power and assert itself as a dominant state.
Since France and Russia were in an alliance Germany was not able to just attack one country.
They would be forced to fight both countries in a two front war. Schlieffen concluded that it would
take Russia six weeks to mobilize while France and Germany could both be prepared for battle
within fifteen days.
Schlieffen believed that if France could be conquered in that short of a time period that German
troops could then be moved to a new front against Russia. If Germany had a quick victory over
France it would allow them to have sequential fighting and not simultaneous fighting. To accelerate
the transfer of troops between future fronts Schlieffen advised the Kaiser to build railroads. After
figuring out what to do with France and Russia Schlieffen focused on Great Britain s role in any
European conflict. The British had a strong navy but their land forces posed virtually no threat to ...

Bullying At The State Of Nevada
We all might still recall back to our school days and the bully on the playground making recess
intolerable for some; or perhaps in the lunch room bully who helped themselves to our desserts.
That bully might have ended up in the principal s office, but likely not much more became of
them. Bullies have always been around, but now they have changed their preferred tactics. With the
growth of technology making our ordinary lives simpler, criminals and bullies have also used
technology to aid them in their transgressions. Many bullies have advanced to become cyber bullies
and their chosen scare tactic makes use of computers, cellular phones, or some other type of
communications device. What then is the actual definition of the act of bullying? Bullying in the
State of Nevada is defined as carrying out actions that may be highly offensive to a reasonable
person and intended to cause the student to suffer harm or serious emotional distress (Cyberbully
tactics are focus of state law, 2010). Cyber bullying elsewhere is bullying by means of electronic
communication (Cyberbully tactics are focus of state law, 2010). In Texas, bullying means
engaging in written or verbal expression or physical conduct that will physically harm another
student or student s property, or is persistent enough to create an intimidating or threatening
educational environment for a student (Grobe, 2012). These definitions are typical of those used in
other states. Advances in

The staffs of therapeutic communities mainly consist of former addicts and abusers, they know what
the addicts are going through and can knowledgeably help them through the struggle. There is a
high success rate for patients who do not stick with the program.
Chemical decency residential programs are a combination of hospitalization and a therapeutic
community. The programs are usually three to eight weeks in length and they are counseled by
recovering alcoholics with little formal training. These private pay programs are the most common
form of residential treatment although they are now reduced in number.
Medical assisted treatment is not nearly as popular as residential treatment, but it is beginning to
play a more important role in outpatient recovery. When using medication to aid recovery there are
three basic approaches to take: antagonism, substitution, or the use of a drug that is medically
incompatible. Antagonism requires total a blockage of the abused drug, while substitution allows
the use of another drug to reduce the craving for the abused drug. Giving an addict a drug that is
medically incompatible with the abused drug will cause them to become sick any time that they use
the abused drug. Crisis clinics are a form of outpatient help, they range from telephone hotlines, to
emergency associated clinics, to crash pads. Community mental health

Snowball Earth Research Paper
Ice ages are well documented in Earth s history, and they are proven to be relatively frequent. But
what if that ice age persisted over not just regions near the poles, but around the equator as well?
The term snowball Earth refers to a condition where Earth is completely covered by ice. Evidence
indicates that snowball Earthmay have been around in the Neoproterozoic. In fact, evidence points
to the conclusion that these conditions happened three separate times in the Neoproterozoic. A
snowball Earth condition is hard to prove, but this theory may explain several different
phenomena. However, it is not accepted by all, there is evidence against a snowball Earth as well.
Some believe that a snowball Earth would not have been possible in past climateconditions while
there are views that defend the idea of more of a slushball Earth rather than a planet entirely frozen

The War Of The Aesir And The Vanir

Mythology 3rd Hour
April 4th, 2016
The War of the Aesir and the Vanir In Norse mythology, gods and goddesses usually belong to one
of two tribes: the Aesir and the Vanir. Throughout most of the Norse tales, deities from the two
tribes get along fairly easily, and it s hard to pin down firm distinctions between the two groups. But
there was a time when that wasn t the case.
The War of the Gods
The Vanirgoddess Freya was always the foremost practitioner of the art of seidr, a form of magic
principally concerned with discerning and altering the course of destiny. Like historical seidr
practitioners, she wandered from town to town plying her craft for hire.
Under the name HeiГ°r ( Bright ), she eventually came to Asgard, the home of the Aesir. The
Aesir were quite taken by her powers and zealously sought her services. But soon they realized
that their values of honor, kin loyalty, and obedience to the law were being pushed aside by the
selfish desires they sought to fulfill with the witch s magic. Blaming Freya for their own
shortcomings, the Aesir called her Gullveig ( Gold greed ) and attempted to murder her. Three
times they tried to burn her, and three times she was reborn from the ashes.
Because of this, the Aesir and Vanir came to hate and fear one another, and these hostilities erupted
into war. The Aesir fought by the rules of plain combat, with weapons and brute force, while the
Vanir used the subtler means of magic. The war went on for some

The Combahee River Collective also stresses on the relationship with their subjugation and how it

Proteins And Functions Of Proteins Essay
Proteins are primarily considered to have one primary function to serve its role in an organism,
however studies have observed to have multiple functioning proteins known as moonlighting
proteins (Khan et al. 2014). Moonlighting proteins along with primary functions, have secondary
functions that are not related to the primary function and does not correlate to the primary or other
functions (Khan et al. 2014). The multifunctional proteins play essential roles in carrying out
biochemical functions which aids in the cell growth but are not caused by gene fusion and
multiple RNA splice variants (Amblee et al. 2015). The discovery of moonlighting proteins was
first discovered by Piatigorsky and Wistow while observing crystallins (Khan et al. 2014).
Crystallins, are structural proteins that are found in the eye lens that exhibit enzymatic activity to
make the lens itself (Khan et al. 2014). Crystallin has a primary function to help form the lens of
the eye by acting as a structural protein(Amblee et al. 2015). Besides enzymatic activity, crystallin
was observed in other mammals to have secondary functions such as metabolic functions which are
helpful in prokaryotic (Khan et al 2014). Most moonlighting proteins are characterized as cytosolic
enzymes and chaperons, or in other words helping proteins (Amblee et al 2015). The
multifunctional proteins or moonlighting proteins can also be identified as receptors, channel
proteins and ribosomal proteins (Khan et al. 2014). Due to the

For families, the most viewed type of televisionis reality TV. The straight forward situations in the

group they want to target and that has a message spreading positive awareness. Reality TV teaches

Much that is terrible takes place in the Homeric poems, but it seldom takes place wordlessly... no
speech is so filled with anger or scorn that the particles which express logical and grammatical
connections are lacking or out of place. (from Odysseus Scar by Erich Auerbach)
In his immaculately detailed study comparing the narrative styles of Homer to those of the Bible,
Erich Auerbach hits upon one of the most notable intrigues of reading Homer, namely his
unrelenting sense of epic form and rhythm. The stories that unfold in the works of Homer are filled
with passion and fury, but this never effects the meticulous regulation of his narrative. One of the

To take the death of Phereklos as an illustration: first, we are told Meriones in turn killed

... Meriones pursued [Phereklos] and overtaking him struck in the right buttock, and the spearhead
drove straight on and passing under the bone went into the bladder. He dropped, screaming, to his
knees, and death was a mist about him. (Book V, lns. 65 68)
Although the deaths of major characters are more elaborate and detailed, the basic structural pattern
remains the same. The death of Patroklos for example is much embellished, but the basic formula
approach, attack, wound, and finally the mist of death remains recognizable. The use of what is
essentially a template for the description of death in battle could serve one of two purposes. The
fact that the deaths in The Iliad and the final battle scene of The Odyssey become so many carbon
copies of one another, predictable almost to the point of absurdity, perhaps reflects a poet s
judgment of war. Homer goes to such elaborate lengths to depict the immensity of the enterprise
and the sweat and hardship of battle, that one can t help but sense, hidden within this repeated
formulaic expression of dying, a commentary upon death as the ultimate equalizer. Conversely, the
methodical treatment of death could simply be an indication of Homer s

Commo Corruption In Robert Bolt s A Man For All Seasons
A Man for All Seasons asks the audience a crucial question; would a man sacrifice his beliefs for
power and control? Plagued with themes of supremacy and control, Robert Bolt s A Man for All
Seasons features the protagonist Thomas More who is fiercely truthful and honest. Thomas More is
foregrounded within the playto highlight the themes of power, control and ultimately corruption
amongst the monarchy. The play, A Man for all Seasons, provides the audience with a deeper and
more accurate portray of Sir Thomas Morein comparison to the film, giving the audience a more
enriched story of the overarching theme. Represented in two different forms, the story is given
more depth and justice in the play, unpacking the different themes of the Common Man, water and

Underpinning the entirety of A Man For All Seasons, the corruption of individuals and of the
monarchy system is an issue which is brought to the forefront of the audience s mind. The
audience is consistently asked to question the strength of man to repeal the corruption of power
and control, and how people themselves can be so easily corrupted. Once again, the play
represents this well, using the Gilded Cup to clearly symbolize the corruption in the monarchy
which then started the catalyst of the play. In contrast to the play, the film marginalizes this
important scene, limiting the audience s opportunity to delve deeply into the meaning of the
Gilded Cup. In addition to this, A Man For All Seasons focuses on the rise of Richard Rich and
the fall of Sir Thomas More. More stays strong to his morals, resisting pressure of the monarchy.
Juxtaposed with More, Richard acquires more wealth and greater status by marginalizing his moral
principles. This is an example of how one man concedes to corruption while the other one remains

Thus, it is more important now than at any time in the history of marketing to really understand your
target market and to let this understanding drive not only your marketing decisions, but the entire
decision making framework of the company. (Hiebing Cooper, 2004:4).
Since the preference of customers vary from time to time and meeting their needs, wants and
expectation is an impressive challenge to service providers, strategic thinking of marketing could
be the best way to find the right track as competition is stiffer than the past trend. One to this
developing marketing strategy is crucial in business firms and as Orville C.Walker, Jr., et,al
explained the primary focus of marketing strategy is to effectively allocate and coordinate
marketing resources and activities to accomplish the firms objectives with in a specific product
market. Therefore, the critical issue concerning the scope of a marketing strategy is specifying the
target market(s) for a particular product or product line. Next, firms seek competitive advantage and
synergy through a well integrated program of marketing mix elements (Primarily the 4Ps of
product, price, place, promotion) tailored to the needs and wants of potential customers in that
target market. (2004:12).

Essay about Pray the Devil Back to Hell
Pray the Devil Back to Hell.
Recently we watched Pray the Devil Back to Hell in English class. A few of the social issues
addressed were: poverty, peace and women s rights. The women were so fed up with how their
president has been treating everyone. He got young children to run around with guns and hurt
innocent people. Everyone was so below poverty that children were starving to death and there
was nothing the parents could do because they themselves were starving. The women wanted so
badly to have peace to stop the war, the fighting, and the poverty. The women just wanted a say in
what was happening around them, to get a chance to stop it all. Prior to watching this movie I didn

they got so many things to change for the better. In my future I will use this movie as a
motivation tool and as a way to remind myself that even though times are hard they will get
better you just have to hold on. Also in the future I will use this movie to show that anything is
possible if you have help from those you love and believe in. Overall I thought this was a really
good movie. I thought it taught you a lot about diversity, women s rights, poverty and peace. The
movie was a very touching and inspiring movie; there is also a lot of emotion due to what they

Chuck Berry was perhaps the most fundamental progenitor of the Beatles sound,
(www.liverpoolcityportal.co.uk/beatle/beatles_influences[ 0], April 13th, 2013). The solo s of
electric guitar can be heard in both Berry s Johnny B Goode and I m Down. Between both
Beatles songs the differences seem to override the similarities. They both have a completely
different feel. One screaming rock n roll and the other acoustic folk. The influences of each song
clearly point this out. Bob Dylan an acoustic player and Little Richard a Rock N Roll player are
two completely different sounding musicians.
3. Discussion of the Lyrics
The lyrics of song #1 have a poetic feel to them. You ve got to hide your love away, can be
categorized as (2) sexuality or (8) abstract or poetic image making. The sexuality can be seen
within the lyrics and even in the title of the song. Homosexuality is what the song is about when
reading the lyrics carefully. Almost like a picture story you can imagine a gay individual who has
to had his love and everywhere people stare at hime making the person feel two foot small. After
understanding the deep meaning of the song it becomes more personal and beautiful. That is where
an abstract and poetic image is made.
The lyrics of song #2, I m down, can be categorized as (3) alienation. The lyrics are very repetitive,
repeating I m down over and over again. The lyrics make someone feel estranged or outcasted.

Witchcraft in the 16th Century Essay
The origins of 16th century witchcraft were changing social, economic and religious conditions in
Europe and America. The desire to find a scapegoat for the change resulted in a genocide known as
the Burning Times that lasted more than a century.

Witches were accused of casting spells
on unfortunate victims and were often sentenced to death by hanging, drowning or by being burned
to death.
History of The persecution of people practicing witchcraft in the 16th century began in England in
1589. However, the country s concern with witchcraft had been growing throughout the century,
largely in response to the current social, economic and religious conditions in the country. Although
people accused of practicing witchcraft had been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Besides testimony, witches were also identified by midwife s examination. If any black marks
were found on the accused s body, the mark was often considered Satan s mark and proof that she
was a witch.

Significance The 16th century witch hunts resulted in the deaths of nearly
50,000 people. The majority of the accused and sentenced were poor and elderly women who did
not have a stable place in society.
It is theorized that the witchcraft hysteria was in response to
women s growing role in society. During the 16th century, single, unmarried and independent
women represented a societal shift that a large portion of the population was uncomfortable with.
The result was genocide and what some have called a holocaust. Society, including women, rejected
the notion of unmarried women living alone, without a husband or family, or women who did not
go to church and abide by prevailing social norms.

In the 17th century, the presence of witches reached incredible attention with accusations and
executions of people accused of witchcraft. The fear caused by these trials and executions spurred
many people to become the accuser rather than become the accused. The snowball effect this
caused culminated in a mass hysteria in Europe and the colonies. Today, it is speculated that many
of the people who were accused and ultimately executed for witchcraft were innocent. History
Witchcraft has long been a part of our world s history. Fear of witches eventually

Constellations
Have you ever wondered why you see certain shapes or patterns in the sky formed by stars? Well,
these formations are called constellations. There are tons of different constellations that represent
different logics of many poets, farmers, and astronomers. Along the years, there have been many
different relations that the constellations have to famous myths and stories that are a part of world
life. In addition, the constellations are related to zodiac signs, which represent where the sun was in
the sky at the exact time and place of a person s birth. Examples of well known constellations are

second century. It s story in Greek mythology, is classified with Callisto, a gorgeous nymph who
was turned into a bear by Zeus s envious wife Hera. Also, the Romans referred to the
constellation as Septentrio, or seven plough oxen, but only two of the seven stars represent oxen
while the others make a wagon. Native Americans tell the tale of how the bowl of the Big Dipper
represents a big bear and the surrounding stars are warriors chasing after it. Due to the
constellation being pretty low in the sky during autumn, the legend states that it s the blood of the
bear that turns the leaves on trees red. The constellation Ursa Major belongs to the Ursa Major
family which includes Boötes, Draco, Lynx, and many others. The Ursa Major is a very
recognizable constellation as various cultures interpret the Ursa Major into different stories that

could tell them that black is white and they would believe it. The Party even altered history

  • 2. Aristotle s theory of the Tragic Hero Aristotle s theory of the Tragic Hero: A man doesn t become a hero until he can see the root of his own downfall Tragic hero s who fit under Aristotle s depiction are known as Aristotelian Tragic Hero s and possess five specific characteristics; 1) A flaw or error of judgment (also known as hamartia which is a fatal flaw leading to the downfall of a tragic hero or heroine) 2) A reversal of fortune due to the error of judgment (also known as peripeteia , which is a sudden reversal of fortune or change in circumstances) 3) The discovery or recognition that the reversal was brought about by the hero s own actions (Referred to as anagnorisis , which is a moment in a play when a character makes a critical discovery) 4) Excessive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A good plot progresses like a knot that is tied up with increasingly greater complexity until the moment of peripeteia, at which point the knot is gradually untied until it reaches a completely unknotted conclusion. For a tragedy to arouse pity and fear, we must observe a hero who is relatively noble going from happiness to misery as a result of error on the part of the hero. Our pity and fear is aroused most when it is family members who harm one another rather than enemies or strangers. In the best kind of plot, one character narrowly avoids killing a family member unwittingly thanks to an anagnorisis that reveals the family connection. The hero must have good qualities appropriate to his or her station and should be portrayed realistically and consistently. Since both the character of the hero and the plot must have logical consistency, Aristotleconcludes that the untying of the plot must follow as a necessary consequence of the plot and not from stage artifice, like a deus ex machina (a machine used in some plays, in which an actor playing one of the gods was lowered onto the stage at the end). Aristotle discusses thought and diction and then moves on to address epic poetry. Whereas tragedy consists of actions presented in a dramatic form, epic poetry consists of verse presented in a narrative form. Tragedy and epic poetry have many common qualities, most notably the unity of plot and similar subject matter. However, epic poetry can be longer than ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Like Any Scientific Discipline, Sociology Has Its Own Object Like any scientific discipline, sociology has its own object and subject of research. The object is understood as the sphere of reality that is to be studied, and to this the research is directed. Consequently, the object of sociology is society. But society is explored by many disciplines, such as history, philosophy, economics, political science, etc. At the same time, each of the named social sciences distinguishes its specific aspects, the properties of the object, which become the subject of its study. It is quite difficult to determine the subject of sociology, because throughout the history of its development, representatives of various schools and directions have expressed and are still expressing different views on the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Contradictions in nature, society, thinking, the struggle between people, classes, states all this is a manifestation of conflicts. The subject of sociology in Max Weber is subjective, attached to man. Emile Durkheim has a different way of thinking. He declared social science the subject of the science of society, by which he understood norms, laws, values, representations of people, social institutions, organizations and ideas in general, materialized in the form of, for example, buildings and structures. Each generation of individuals finds their set of social facts, which determines the behavior of people. Emile Durkheim s approach to the subject of sociology is objective, not dependent on a particular person s character. The ideas of the Classics who laid the foundations of conflictology were perceived and developed as follows. For example, Emile Durkheim one of the founders of the French sociological school puts an equal sign between the social status and social solidarity. He believed that people unite in societies not for individual and group enmity, but because of mutual needs in each other. For Max Weber, the subject of emotional action was not society as a whole, but an individual whose position is connected with a certain social status. From his point of view, society is the interaction of people who are the product of social actions, those who are oriented toward other people. They are anxious to preserve or even strengthen their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. What Is The Fashion Of Fashion In The 1960s 60s Fashion in America The 1960s were a time of big change across the United States of America. Fashion was one of the most memorable (parts) of the 60s. The 1950s sound was still popular and the waist tight skirts and clean, sharp look was still worn by many. The style of fashion was new and unfamiliar to the people who grew up in the 1940s and 50s. One of the most surprising trends was the box dresses that women wore. They were very short and showed much more skin than the parents of the teenagers in that era, would have liked. They were used to much more conservative types of clothing . Fashion evolved, along with the new generation who inspired that fashion. Hairstyles and clothing changed, due to a new era of icons and state of minds. Hairstyles in the 50s were much more traditional and looked very conservative. They replicated the styles of the 1930s and 40s. They had many more curls than the hairstyles of the 60s. The women wore buffontants and flipped hair. Bouffants had hair above the crown of the head, covering the ears and women who wore this style usually had shoulder length hair. Another popular women s style was the flipped hair Usually worn with bouffants, the flipped hairstyle was one where the ends of the hair were flipped in toward the face. Both hair styles were used in ads for clothes and products during the 60s, spreading the look across America with the help of icons. Flips and bouffants are most characterized by the 60s, making them the most ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Paul Signac s Breakfast In The Dining Room Paul Signac was a French painter who helped develop the pointillist style. He was born on November 11, 1863 in Paris, France where he began his artistic career. He decided he wanted to become an artist after viewing an exhibition of Monet s work in 1880. His family were wealthy shopkeepers and encouraged him to study architecture, however, his early interest in painting continued into adulthood. His father and grandpa were both saddlemakers, but the store was still under his name. During the Franco Prussian War, he was sent to northern France to live with his grandmother because his family didn t want him to get into harm s way. Since Signac had to stay there for the time being, he was enrolled in a college named Rollin in Montmartre. Soon... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These two artists shared an interest for science behind color and perception, so Signac worked with Seurat to create a painting style that used optical effects. (Paul Signac) They applied small dabs of colors closely together on canvas, using various shades that appeared to merge from a distance. Using pointillism, Signac created two paintings that became very popular, one of which, was called Breakfast in the Dining Room (Meyer). This painting was actually based on his own family, and it featured his mother, grandfather and housekeeper. The figures present at the lunch table appear to be in silence. It portrays a family that lacks interaction and a feeling of home. Signac s style was very similar to his good friend, Georges Seurat. For example, Signac s oil painting Breakfast in the Dining Room appears to look like Seurat s Sunday in the Park on the Island of Grande Jatte .(Jackson) Signac based this pinwheel design on a Japanese print, but replaced it with his own colors and patterns to represent himself. Till this day, it is still a mystery as to why Signac drew this, but it is rumored that both Seurat and Signac worked on each others projects hand in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Mary Shelly Influence On Frankenstein It s been said that writers write about what they know, that they draw on life experiences, that the people around them shape the main characters, and sometimes the characters even reflect the author s life, their choices, or even their view and attitude towards life. Within the writing of Frankenstein, there are many different relationships shown within the story, and there are relationships that have contributed to the shape of the story as well. There are many parallels between the feminist theory, and the making of Frankenstein, which can be largely looked at along with Mary Shelly s relationship with her parents. More parallels reside in how she acted when the book was being published which was largely reflected in the character of Victor, and once again in Victor s relationship with his creation. This can all lead back to the feminist theory and the gendered spheres that is experienced in different... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Growing up with parents who were literary scholars would make someone get into the habit of writing, especially if they start their children at a young age, so it is not a shock that Shelly would start writing at a young age too, and use it as a pastime. As Shelly grew up, she noted that reality stood in place of fiction, however, it was Percy, her husband, who suggested that she start writing again. It was also Percy who asked if she could, prove herself worthy of her parentage. He pushed for her to enroll herself on the page of fame, and to obtain literary reputation (21). One could say that Percy highly encouraged Shelly to follow in her parents footsteps, but not so much to see if she could do any thing worthy of notice, but so that he might be the judge to see how much promise she had at bettering their lives ... • 7. The And Collective Memory Of The First World War Contemporary Canadian reimagining of the First World war is from the book Catching the torch by a Brock University teacher Neta Gordon. She wrote this book in 2014. She tries to explain to the reader the conflict between history and collective memory of the First World War. With many other essays, she focuses on the role of the Canadian army in the First World war. As we know, the Canadian army entered the war in early 1915 to offer help to the Britain soldiers fighting against the Germans. The Canadian army was basically forced to join because they were a member of the British Empire. On the one hand, Gordon quotes from Jonathan Vance s Death So Noble: Memory, meaning and the First world war: the dominant or collective memory of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most of the work that Gordon studied and with the publication date from this book, we can also say that collective memory is not a whole. Most of the soldiers are dead at this time and she had to rely on works that were published years later after the First War. Gordon quoted Winter in the first few chapters of her book, he stated: This sense of the socially constructed nature of collective memory is vital to historical study, since it precludes talking about memory as if it exists independently of the people who share it (2). From what I understand from the few pages that we had to read and with my research done with the whole book, the collective memory is based on the present memory, but since the soldiers they rely on are no longer in a group or in the same place, it is mostly a memory from one person. Another thing she said that made me realize how true her statement was with the novel that we studied during this term. She stated that: many of the narratives this volume examines rehabilitate the figure of the father and/or conception of productive masculinity; many follow in the tradition of early twentieth century home front novels by women to consider the value of female work, in wartime and beyond [...] and most conclude with a look to the future (which is now the present) and a sense of promise that is decidedly free from irony. • 8. Analysis Of Dr. Jekyll And Mr. Hyde By Robert Lewis Stevenson As the cities in the nineteenth century grew and expanded, more and more people moved from the countryside to said cities. With an increase in the size and population of the city a individual s anonymity increased as well. Both the Paris Morgue and the novella Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde written by Robert Lewis Stevenson portray the anonymity of modern city life. While middle class men often appreciated the anonymity of the city, because it allowed them to escape social class restrictions, they also feared some of the negative implications. The working class, on the other hand, might have enjoyed the new found entertainment options, however they also had to fear being victims of crime and ending as nameless corpses. Women, both from the middle class and working class, experienced more freedom through the entertainment and leisure time options available due to the anonymous character of the city. For the middle class man the anonymity of the city promised freedom from social restrictions, that hindered him from behaving in ways that were unseeming for a man of his standing. In his novella Stevenson writes about a wealthy middle class doctor, Dr. Henry Jekyll, who through a potion, could turn himself into a different person. • 9. Dialectic Neocapitalist Theory In The Works Of Tarantino Dialectic neocapitalist theory in the works of Tarantino 1. Tarantino and Derridaist reading In the works of Tarantino, a predominant concept is the concept of dialectic truth. However, Baudrillard promotes the use of modernism to read and modify class. Many desituationisms concerning the role of the participant as poet exist. If one examines prematerial Marxism, one is faced with a choice: either accept modernism or conclude that the task of the participant is deconstruction, given that prematerial Marxism is invalid. Therefore, the premise of dialectic neocapitalist theory implies that academe is intrinsically a legal fiction. The primary theme of Geoffrey s[1] essay on prematerial Marxism is a capitalist whole. Therefore, Dahmus[5] holds that the works of Spelling are not postmodern. The primary theme of the works of Spelling is the role of the writer as participant. It could be said that the premise of Sontagist camp implies that language is used to entrench the status quo. The characteristic theme of Scuglia s[6] model of prematerial Marxism is not dematerialism, but predematerialism. 2. Subdialectic discourse and Marxist capitalism If one examines modernism, one is faced with a choice: either reject Marxist capitalism or conclude that the significance of the artist is significant form, but only if narrativity is interchangeable with culture; otherwise, sexuality is capable of intentionality. Therefore, Sartre uses the term dialectic neocapitalist theory to denote the role of the participant as poet. Marx s essay on capitalist materialism suggests that society has intrinsic meaning, given that the premise of Marxist capitalism is valid. quot;Sexual identity is responsible for sexism, quot; says Sontag; however, according to Drucker[7] , it is not so much sexual identity that is responsible for sexism, but rather the failure, and thus the meaninglessness, of sexual identity. Responding to crises is an important part of organizational behavior today, especially because of the effects that have been seen in the previous crises involving prominent organizations such as BP and the Sandusky case. Ensuring that the company has some sort of backup plan when the company goes into the limelight on issues, is an important part of making sure that the stakeholders can be forgiving and go past the crises without much loss to the company. This paper is a case study of the crisisinvolving Smithville Industrial Chemical plant and the mistakes that they made in the course of the media coverage of the spill on White River. In this particular case, the first mistake that the company made was failing to respond immediately in the course of the reporting of the spill on the news. Write a one page concise or two pages double spaced summary explaining the Federal Reserve. Basically, the Federal Reserve System is a banking system of the United States. It was created in 1913, with the enactment of the Federal reserve Act (2014). There are many responsibilities the Federal Reserves has which include, supervision and regulation, monetary policy, payment services and finally the financial stability. President Woodrow Wilson signed the Federal Reserve Act, into a law. There are also many events that led up to the signing of the Federal Reserve Act that stuck out to me. The money and banking systems weren t the same in Colonial America. Colonial banks were not allowed to accept deposits from the public or make loans. Instead, they issued paper currency backed by metals and goals. Colonists were also limited to using bartering, European coinage as their primary means of exchange. The legislation created a uniform national currency and permitted only nationally chartered banks to issue bank notes (2014). There was a period of a free banking era. There was a huge need for a reliable banking system during the civil war. Many banks did not keep enough money on hand to meet the normal demands. People lost their confidence in the banks and then began to go take their money out. This triggered a succession of bank failures. The Federal Reserve System had a severe financial crisis, in ... • 20. Nazi Germany And The Nazi Party Essay Propaganda was significant in Germany in the period of 1933 to 1945 as it affected the people of Germany greatly since propaganda was presented to people in their everyday lives in some manner or form, making it inescapable. Propaganda was used mainly to display anti Semitic beliefs about Jews and others who were thought of as irrelevant to Nazi Germanysuch as the disabled, mentally ill, gypsies, communists and non Aryans who were all affected greatly by propaganda. Hitler and the Nazi Party achieved this through their propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels who used every form of media (radio, posters, newspapers, films, music and the arts) to portray the greatness of German culture. Though, some of these forms of propaganda displayed different levels of effectiveness making some forms more significant than others. One of the most significant forms of propaganda in their impact on Germany was the use of radio. Radios and radio licences summed to 90% of the ministry s expenses, which show how Hitler s messages, speeches and Nazi related broadcasts reached such a broad audience of the German population because radio was extremely accessible. Hitler made sure that radios were cheap enough for every family to afford so that his speeches were publicised, giving Hitler more opportunity to manipulate Germany and glorify the Nazi party. • 21. High Tech Companies Like Arm Are Often Cited As Great... 6. High tech companies like ARM are often cited as great examples of UK success. What drawbacks does such an emphasis have? Although high technology manufacturing (and by extension high tech companies that operate in that sector) is a good way for the UK to improve its productivity (output per labour force) and its global competitiveness [6], too much emphasis on high tech companies present possible drawbacks. Firstly, there is a mismatch in skills required by the high tech industry and the actual skillsets of the UK labour force. Only 27.2% of the UK population aged 16 to 74 have a degree or equivalent or higher [2]. Taking cognizance of the fact that most high tech jobs require at least a degree, undue emphasis on that sector neglects the other 72.8% of the population. And this neglect has dire consequences. As evidenced by the recent UK referendum vote to leave the EU and the rise of the US presidential candidate Donald Trump, if a substantial part of the population feel left behind or disillusioned with the economy, it can lead to political unrest, and possible negative populist decisions that can hurt the general economy. Generally, businesses do not thrive under uncertainties. The political uncertainty brought about by the recent UK referendum was cited by business leaders as the top risk facing UK businesses [6]. These political risks negatively affect the general economy, in terms of both reductions in GDP growth and value of the UK pounds sterling. Another ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 23. Analysis Of The Poem Mont Blanc Percy Shelley opens his poem, Mont Blanc by noting how imperative the human mind is in regard to nature. The first few lines establish a relation that is essential to all life. With these lines alone, Shelley is pulling from many of the inclinations made by William Wordsworth in his poem, Tintern Abbey . There is however an expansion made on Wordsworth s affections toward nature and its aweing power; while Shelley agrees that there is only a small amount of those who can truly grasp the full intention of what the natural world teaches, he largely finds nature in defiance with man s own predilections and perceptions regarding its behavior and influence. Mont Blanc seeks out nature s sublime instead of its lovely and simplistic benevolence. In some ways, Mont Blanc is a deeper examination and deconstruction of what Tintern Abbey constructs as a beautiful but surface level and thus shallow perceptionof what nature is capable of at its most powerful, and then asks how that influences the creative human mind. Both poems assert in their own ways that we are indelibly at the mercy of learning from nature and bending to its influence. Our five senses allow us to experience it, but more than that we also receive emotional stimulation as well. Tintern Abbey achieves an essence of the sublime by memory sustained and perfected through the combined power of the human mind (especially one of poetic fancy) and nature s beautiful force something of meditation. • 26. Schlieffen Pl War Against France And Russia The Schlieffen Plan was the German s plan for war against France and Russia. It was created by Alfred von Schlieffen who was the German Chief of Staff in 1903 on the request of Kaiser Wilhelm II and it was later revised in 1905. The reason it was made was because Germany s unification came later than other European states. So the Kaiser sought out Schlieffen and directed him to devise a plan that would allow Germanyto gain power and assert itself as a dominant state. Since France and Russia were in an alliance Germany was not able to just attack one country. They would be forced to fight both countries in a two front war. Schlieffen concluded that it would take Russia six weeks to mobilize while France and Germany could both be prepared for battle within fifteen days. Schlieffen believed that if France could be conquered in that short of a time period that German troops could then be moved to a new front against Russia. If Germany had a quick victory over France it would allow them to have sequential fighting and not simultaneous fighting. To accelerate the transfer of troops between future fronts Schlieffen advised the Kaiser to build railroads. The War Of The Aesir And The Vanir Jordan Root Ms.Takash Mythology 3rd Hour April 4th, 2016 The War of the Aesir and the Vanir In Norse mythology, gods and goddesses usually belong to one of two tribes: the Aesir and the Vanir. Throughout most of the Norse tales, deities from the two tribes get along fairly easily, and it s hard to pin down firm distinctions between the two groups. But there was a time when that wasn t the case. The War of the Gods The Vanirgoddess Freya was always the foremost practitioner of the art of seidr, a form of magic principally concerned with discerning and altering the course of destiny. Like historical seidr practitioners, she wandered from town to town plying her craft for hire. Under the name HeiГ°r ( Bright ), she eventually came to Asgard, the home of the Aesir. The Aesir were quite taken by her powers and zealously sought her services. But soon they realized that their values of honor, kin loyalty, and obedience to the law were being pushed aside by the selfish desires they sought to fulfill with the witch s magic. Blaming Freya for their own shortcomings, the Aesir called her Gullveig ( Gold greed ) and attempted to murder her. Three times they tried to burn her, and three times she was reborn from the ashes. Because of this, the Aesir and Vanir came to hate and fear one another, and these hostilities erupted into war. The Aesir fought by the rules of plain combat, with weapons and brute force, while the Vanir used the subtler means of magic. The war went on for some ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Proteins And Functions Of Proteins Essay Proteins are primarily considered to have one primary function to serve its role in an organism, however studies have observed to have multiple functioning proteins known as moonlighting proteins (Khan et al. 2014). Moonlighting proteins along with primary functions, have secondary functions that are not related to the primary function and does not correlate to the primary or other functions (Khan et al. 2014). The multifunctional proteins play essential roles in carrying out biochemical functions which aids in the cell growth but are not caused by gene fusion and multiple RNA splice variants (Amblee et al. 2015). The discovery of moonlighting proteins was first discovered by Piatigorsky and Wistow while observing crystallins (Khan et al. 2014). Crystallins, are structural proteins that are found in the eye lens that exhibit enzymatic activity to make the lens itself (Khan et al. 2014). Crystallin has a primary function to help form the lens of the eye by acting as a structural protein(Amblee et al. 2015). Besides enzymatic activity, crystallin was observed in other mammals to have secondary functions such as metabolic functions which are helpful in prokaryotic (Khan et al 2014). Most moonlighting proteins are characterized as cytosolic enzymes and chaperons, or in other words helping proteins (Amblee et al 2015). The multifunctional proteins or moonlighting proteins can also be identified as receptors, channel proteins and ribosomal proteins (Khan et al. 2014). Due to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The use of what is essentially a template for the description of death in battle could serve one of two purposes. The fact that the deaths in The Iliad and the final battle scene of The Odyssey become so many carbon copies of one another, predictable almost to the point of absurdity, perhaps reflects a poet s judgment of war. The result was genocide and what some have called a holocaust. Society, including women, rejected the notion of unmarried women living alone, without a husband or family, or women who did not go to church and abide by prevailing social norms.

In the 17th century, the presence of witches reached incredible attention with accusations and executions of people accused of witchcraft.
