The Greek Parthenon vs the Roman Pantheon Essay
The Greek Parthenon vs the Roman Pantheon
Imagine asking a five year old to draw a picture of a house. A native Floridian probably wouldn t
draw the typical split plan design with a tile roof and a screened in lanai. The extent of the child s
artistic ability would probably consist of a box with a triangle on top of it. As fundamental as it
sounds, the use of this structure has a long history dating back to ancient Greece. The classical
Greek temple, the Parthenon, made use of this design and influenced (the still rather different)
Roman Pantheon.
These buildings are excellent examples of how architectural style reflects the culture of its creators
and studying their relationship highlights how the ancient Mediterranean world ... Show more

The Parthenon was made entirely out of marble, but it was either cheaply made or the technology
was not advanced enough to make it smooth and time resistant. Today, the temple lies in ruins. The
foundation and many of the columns still stand, but the roof and carved designs are all but missing.
The Pantheon, built in Rome around AD 126, is in great condition yet today. More massive than
the Parthenon, the exterior of the Pantheon still looks smoother. The eight Corinthian columns that
line the front entrance are not as intrusive as the Doric columns of ancient Greece. They are thinner
and ornately decorated. Also, the Pantheon gains its giant size because of its high walls, not by
resting its foundation on a mountainous staircase. Again, this makes the temple more delicate than
the Parthenon and this difference also infers that the Romans felt much more secure from the
dangers of invasion. Unlike the Parthenon that was destroyed by enemies, the Pantheon still stands
content. Continuing inside, the walls of the Pantheon are intrinsically a genius of splendor. They
are decorated with ornate designs of Corinthian columns and mock windows. The beauty of the
three dimensional wall fixtures is exemplified by sunlight let in by the large oculus at its zenith.
Although the Parthenon has not survived time, its design has greatly affected our modern world.
The children s design mentioned earlier

Selma To Montgomery Analysis
Civil resistance, a dividend that has sculpted an entire country, faced controversy that established
equality throughout a nation. While there has been a multitude of civil resistance cases within the
United States, none may be as important as the march from Selma to Montgomery. Answering
questions such as: the practices behind civil resistance, what future activists can learn, as well as
how prior knowledge of the subject could benefit present researchers, the march from Selma to
Montgomery rewrote history books. When defining civil resistance, the underlying foundation
behind the definition can be seen within the deep seated roots of equality, which is located in the
analysis of Selma. To commence, the practices supporting this civil resistance

Scarlet Ibis Quotes
Beyond the Ibis In the story The Scarlet Ibis by James Hurst, the Scarlet Ibis portrays how
people must learn to leave those they love alone through representing Doodle and his struggles
in life. To begin, in the middle of the story the Scarlet Ibis sits on a tree in Doodle s backyard,
and his parents think how a storm must have brought it [there] (Hurst 473). First of all, this quote
shows how the storm pushes the bird physically since it ends up in a different region from where it
typically lives; symbolizing how Brother pushes Doodle out of his comfort zone, which would
represent the bird s typical habitat. Furthermore, this push causes Doodle to perish; Brother forces
Doodle too much with his teaching, when he should be letting Doodle rejuvenate. Secondly, before
the Ibistakes its final breath, Daddy comments on how it looks tired , or maybe... Show more

Initially, Daddy shows concern for the bird s fatal condition, and the reader can infer that he
potentially wants to help it, but the bird is already deceased, again showing how it is too late
and must be left alone. Afterwards, Brother comes back to help Doodle through his final
physical test, only to find that Doodle s death has always been imminent, and that he has now
died; yet Brother tries to wake him up or search for any life in him, but like the Ibis, it is too late
for Doodle and Brother must move on; Doodle would not want him to mourn forever. Finally,
when the Ibis falls out of the tree and dies, Brother states how even death did not mar its grace, for
it lay on the earth like a broken vase of red

I Got Trapped By My Own Success Essay
Alexander Weygers lived a life of creative adventure on an income so low it never interested the
Internal Revenue Service. He continually complained that man s essential failure was to know
when enough was enough, and he used the line at which he would need to write a check to the
IRS as his definition of enough. There was one occasion, though, when he flirted with that line. I
got trapped by my own success, he said. Weygers dalliance with the tax man came in the late
1950s when he traded a piece of sculpture for an Exacta single lens camera. It was a particularly
cold winter on the Monterey Peninsula. Toward the conclusion of a trip to a junkyard in
Salinas, heavy sleet began to fall. As he waited in the bed of his truck for the storm to pass,
Weygers picked up the camera that happened to be beside him and began taking super close up
photos of the raindrops on the windshield. The clouds eventually parted and rays of light pierced
the droplets, causing a refraction in his lens. Weygers hurried home and began playing with
light refractions on leaves and frozen over chuckholes. He then raced to the beach, taking
similar zoomed in shots of a piece of seaweed and an ant colony. The result was a never before
seen, free form photography or artography, as Weygers termed it. In his studio, he would suspend
drops of water from the bottom side of a sheet of glass. Then, using a macro lens he created
himself, Weygers would look into the inside of the raindrop and

Research Article On Types Of Research
Research Article Critique
Type of Research This article was based on a quantitative, exploratory study using several methods
to obtain the information. The type of research used for this article was exploratory and used a
combination of online self report Likert scale surveys as well as Path analysis. Additionally, this
article examined an alternate model was used to test a causal relationship between self compassion
and mindfulness.
Literature Review This subject is important to study for several reasons. Adolescents emotional
well being can make or break suicidal ideation, they can have positive self regard or negative, and
it can effect academic performance as well as personal relationships. This article covered stress,
and its ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This article shares findings from another study, a meta analysis regarding the connection between
self compassion and psychopathology. I would be interested in looking this one up for further
review. Although mindfulness was not related to another study this article addresses, it did share
the correlation found between self compassion and connectedness. This correlation is something
that I see that can mitigate some suicidal ideation.
Research Question The main question posed by this article is whether or not skills in mindfulness
are able to help adolescents navigate the difficulties of their developmental stage (Bluth Blanton,
2014). Another question that was posed by the article was, if adolescents practice these mindful
techniques, will they become better equipped to handle negative emotions and events.
Research Hypothesis The hypothesis of this article was that adolescents would be able to develop
positive emotion well being and self compassion through the use of mindfulness (Bluth Blanton,
2014). It was theorized that self compassion and mindfulness were interdependent, and those who
practice the mindfulness techniques would be better able to develop positive self regard.
Methodology of Research According to the article, they conducted an online survey with sixty
seven urban high school adolescents. This was followed by the use of Path

Molarity Of The Naoh Solution Lab
For lab eight, the molarity of the NaOH solution is 0.07823 M. For lab nine, the molarity of the
NaOH solution is 0.4224 M. The molarity of the NaOH solution for both lab eight and nine was
not accurate because the solution did not turn the color to pink. Some source of error in this lab
is oxalic acid is not completely moved from the plastic lab tray to the beaker. There is a small
amount of substance left in the plastic lab tray that cause the mass of the beaker with NaOH
solution to have less mass than I measured previously. Another source of error is not all the basewas

instead of fully going into the beaker. This leftover base would change

The Total Economic Burden Of Pain
About 41% of American adults suffer from chronic pain. The total economic burden of pain in
2010 is estimated to range from $560 to $635 billion. Of these, lost productivity alone cost
between $299 to $335 billion; which approximates the yearly cost of heart condition and
exceeding the total cost of cancer and diabetes. On a per person basis, the incremental cost of all
US health care expenditures in 2010 is $8233, moderate and severe chronic painaccounted for
$4516 (55% of total) and $7726.20 (93.8% of total) respectively (Gaskin et. al. 2012). American
workers with neck or back pain costs between $5574 $8512, compared to those with no neck or
back pain ($3,017) (Kleinman et al 2014).
Neck pain is quite common, can be burdensome, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although it is recognized that an intricate relationship between the worker and workplace stressors
results in neck pain, a synthesis of preventive factors or workplace interventions has not been

Caroll Hurwitz et al 2008, Cote et al 2008).
Traditionally, spinal problems are believed to always have specific patho anatomic diagnoses
just like other pathological conditions such as cancer, diabetes, heart disease, etc. Since the
articles about cervical (Boden 1990)and lumbar spine (Boden 1990 and Jensen 1994) and
demonstrating multiple imaging pathologies were found in pain free individuals, and about 65%
increase of spine care cost from 1997 to 2005 has produced worse health outcomes despite
imaging technological advances (Martin et al 2008). This has led to a paradigm shift that between
70 90% of neck and back problems is actually non specific in nature (Deyo et al 2008?). The non
specific nature of neck/back pain does not mean that they all have the same clinical features. For
example, the patient s experience of pain can have different neurophysiologic pain mechanisms at
work that result in substantially different clinical and financial

The Underground Railroad Analysis
Unraveling History within The Underground Railroad While Colson Whiteheads, The
Underground Railroad (2016) memorializes slavery, it also broadens our otherwise unrealistic
views of American history. The novel follows a young slave girl, Cora, on her historic venture
through delusional America on the Underground Railroad, shortly after the congress passed the
Compromise of 1850 (285). As Cora travels north, she discovers that every state individually
expresses different attributes of slavery(68). The Compromise of 1850 forced northerners to return
all found fugitive slaves back to the south (TC1850). During an interview with David Bianculli,
Whitehead mentions that the default view of slavery consists of strict slave catcher s and master s
interpretations, rather than the historical aspects of slavery (8 Aug. 2016). This observation allows
him to focus on a fictional storyline that derives nonfictional events in history. In, The Underground
Railroad, Whitehead emphasizes an alternate view of the American history pertaining to the
institution of slavery. Throughout every elementary History class, educators explain the
colonization of America in a crudely oversimplified, unrealistic way. Teachers often emphasize that
the English simply overtook claimed land, rather than stating the whites came to this land for a
fresh start and to escape the tyranny of their masters, just as the freeman had fled theirs. But the
ideals [that] they held up for themselves, they denied for

There education has been forgotten, children. Because I saw these things, and I want to do
something to help other people and make things better. Now, I saw all of the opportunities that
Americans have and often take for granted. I saw this in a simple thing like voting. The Civil
Rights movement and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. fought for this right and yet people today tend
not to vote as often they should. The of the reason with this is the lack of education to be able to

The Rms Of The Titanic
The Titanic Imagine being on a ship and knowing that in just a few hours it was going to sink.
This is what the people on the RMS Titanic experienced. Although this was a major disaster, it
brought to light the importance of proper safety equipment. If the Titanic had proper safety
equipment and proper instruction on what to do in an emergency, the final death toll would be
much lower. The titanic was an enormous ship that had many amazing features to it. When the
titanic sank it devastated the world. The aftermath of the event was horrific, many people tried
to help but not everyone could be saved. The Titanic was a huge 882 foot long, 92 foot wide,
and 175 foot tall cruise ship that weighed over 46,000 tons. It belonged to White Star Lines, and
was designed by Thomas Andrews. The company Harland and Wolff built the ship. It took 3
years, and $7.5million dollars to build ($167 million today). 3,000 workers made the ship, and
each of its anchors weighed 15 tons. In May, 1911 the Titanic s hull, the largest man made
moveable object it the world, made its way to River Lagan. The Titanic was equipped with 29
boilers that burnt up to 650 tons of coal every day. The titanic was first launched on Queens
Island on April 10th 1912. There was approximately 2,200 people on board, 1,300 passengers, and
900 crew members. It had 75,000 pounds of meat, 16,850 bottles of wine and liquor, 101,000
pieces of fruit, and 130,000 pieces of silverware. The Titanic was the largest ship

CHAPTER II
Review Of Related Literature
The Baghdad battery was the foundation of this project and Baghdad batteries were built by
Ancient Parathions. There is still no exact proof on where the Parathions were able to use it since
there were no wires found for the electric current to flow. The battery is composed of a clay pot, a
copper tube enclosing a half inch metal tube and an asphalt stopper as a resistor. Inside the clay,
there is a solution which contains electrolytes such as vinegars and juice. Scholars found out that
the Parathions first ferment their wine as so that the wine will contain more free ions. And the
copper tube together with the metal tube helps the electric current flow. Recent pioneering includes
charcoal and wood sand as an alternative helping increase electric current by 2 volts. (Source: http:/

Essay On Landfills
Plastic waste ending in landfills is a big problem in New Zealand, in which our business, Green
Crates is aiming to address. Green Crates recognises the importance of addressing this issue, and
so I will be evaluating exactly how our business will be doing this. I will also explain key
stakeholder concerns, business ethics, sustainabilityand Kaitiakitanga; where I will also talk about
the challenges our business will face. By recognising these challenges and making improvements,
Green Crates can ultimately reduce plastic waste going into landfills now, and in the future.
Plastic waste is a major problem in New Zealand ( Why recycle?, n.d.). By weight, about 8% of
waste in landfills is plastic (Ministry of Environment, 2009), but because plastic is lighter than
most materials this is an estimated 20% of landfill space ( Why recycle?, n.d.). A shocking 250
thousand tonnes of plastic in landfills (Judd, 2011). This is primarily because plastic is not
biodegradable ( Polluted planet: Plastic waste, 2011), but our business aims to address this
problem. Crates are very useful storage containers, which our business will break down plastic
waste into raw material, to make reusable recyclable, Green Crates. By cooperating with large
supermarkets, we will spread drop boxes in their stores where people will earn discount points
towards their shopping, if they drop their plastic waste into these boxes. In addition, we will give a
20% reward of the crates value, if our crates are

Revenge In Oresteia Research Paper
2017In the Greek play Oresteia, the theme of the intersection between past, present, and future can
be seen in the instances of revenge and justice that occur between various characters. Also, the play
can teach us many aspects about how to improve our life in the future in order to become better
people, by learning and deviating from our actions and forgiving others for what they have done
instead of retaliating. In Oresteia, the reoccurring theme of revenge can be seen in all three acts in
the play, producing much of the tragedy in it. Revenge can first be seen when Clytemnestrakills
Agamemnonand Cassandra at the plaice, however, there are many layers to this revenge that is
committed. Iphigenia, Agamemnon s daughter, was sacrificed by her father so that the god
Artemis would be appeased and the Greek ships could reach troy. By killing Agamemnon,
Iphegenia s death would be avenged and the blood crime of familial murder be resolved.
Clytemnestra could be seen as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, the revenge from death and infidelity are repeated by both Clytemnestra and Orestes
showing how the motives intersect from one life to another. Both Clytemnestra, Orestes also use

the blood for blood justice used that was handed to them at their time of creation, that The mother
killer must not escape, he must be punished... blood must pay for blood! (Furies 256,264).
Clytemnestra states Here is Agamemnon, my husband made a corpse by this right hand a
masterpiece of justice. Done is done, (Agamemnon 1429 1431). Thus stating, Clytemnestra believes
that since she killed Agamemnon, she brought justice to herself, her daughter, and her city. Orestes

The Legacy Of The Ford Motor Company
On June 17, 1903 the Ford Motor Company was organized. The date is the day the deal started
for Henry Ford not because the company had his name, the day all his hard work would start to
payoff. To look at the deal from just one day would not do justice to the brilliant way and
intertwined ways Henry Ford took the world by storm. From the start in Ford s garage to the
offices of lawyers, and then on to control of the largest automotive companies in the world one
can see the deal was just a key to Mr. Ford s future. To start, Henry Fordwas born on a family farm
during the Civil War. This is what would drive Mr. Ford; not wanting to be a farmer and wanting
to work on machinery. Unsatisfied with farm work, Ford left home the following year, at the
age of 16, to take an apprenticeship as a machinist in Detroit. In the years that followed, he
would learn to skillfully operate and service steam engines, and would also study bookkeeping.
Later Henry Ford would work for the Edison Lighting Company as an engineer, later Ford would
become chief engineer. Ford got a chance to meet Thomas Edison and showed Edison his plans
for his first horseless carriage. This meeting would lead to a friendship that would help Ford
when designing his assembly line. Another account of Ford s early years says, In 1879 he left the
farm to become an apprentice at the Michigan Car Company, a manufacturer of railroad cars in
Detroit. Over the next two and one half years he held several similar jobs,

The Importance Of Immorality And The Value Of Life
In our minds we are warned and aware of the future and what it will bring to us. This is found
most clearly in the men of the loftiest genius and greatest souls. They wonder why they should toil
and strain in life when it is much easier to do the basic necessities. However, many people of the
past and present have sacrificed their lives for something that they believe in and value. This can be
many different ideas and institutions of life. Many that sacrifice do this because of the thoughtthat
their names and deeds would continue after them. They believed in the ideaof immortality, not of
the body, but rather of the soul and that it will continue long after them. This is supported by the
voice of nature and the general opinion of people. Those in great power believe in this idea and
this motivates their actions. This idea even carries over to even poets and philosophers with their
desire for fame even after their death. Their view towards death is important in how they live
their lives. A forward thinking mindset is useful for life and how they prepare for death. This adds
to the value of their lives and the work they perform. I agree that we are aware of the future and act
accordingly with the pursuit of higher things in life. Immorality is an important motivator of how
we act.
It is possible for men to meet death with a great tranquillity through the comfort of their own
praise. This is also supported by the idea that death has a time. There is nothing gained by delaying

Battle Of Mogadishu Summary
MAJOR GENERAL GARRISON AT THE BATTLE OF MOGADISHU: MISSION
COMMAND ANALYSIS CPT Brandi Burke AMEDD Captains Career Course, 15 153 12
August 2015 Mission Command is the framework used by the U.S. Army to ensure key leaders
receive clear direction from commanders. Clear commander s guidance allows subordinates to
make disciplined and informed decisions to best accomplish assigned tasks. Ideally, application of
mission command principles ensures all elements integrate and sync actions, thus creating a shared
understanding and purpose. Analysis of Major General (MG) William Garrison s decision making
during the Battle of Mogadishu demonstrates how mission command principles must be applied to
gain and maintain a position of advantage during military ground operations. As commander of
Task Force Ranger (TFR), MG Garrison demonstrated both successful and failed application of
mission command principles. Four principles will be discussed in the... Show more content on

Origin Of The Word Hoosier Analysis
Hoosier is one of those odd words where everyone seems to know what it refers to, but no one
really knows what it means. Most know that it has been adopted to refer to Indianaians, but its true
meaning and origin are a mystery. This mystery is what intrigued J.P. Dunn and prompted him to
write Origin of the Word Hoosier. In his work, Dunn makes the argument that there is no true
known origin of the word. Dunn believes that the true stories are nothing more than legends warped
by time and the facts that people believe cannot be proved to be anything more than just theory. The
first fact, based upon the legendof the word hoosier, is that the word was originally used as a slang
term to describe a rough, uneducated class of people. This belief has stemmed from the
reasoning that a great many of the legends describe the character of the people labeled hoosier as
childish and uncivilized. One such legend is told by Mrs. C. W. Bean. She recalls, One of my
aunts said, What a lot of hoosiers there are in town. In surprise, I asked, Why, I am a Hoosier. ?
A horrified look came over my aunt s face, and she exclaimed, For the Lord s sake, child, don t
let anyone here know that you are a hoosier. I did not make the claim again, for on closer
inspection the visitors proved to be a wild looking lot who might be suspected of never having
seen civilization before. (88) Mrs. Bean s story supports the idea that the word hoosier originally
depicts the uneducated, as her

This shows her loyalty to Bill Sikes and maybe Fagin and this could be a problem for her and
Oliver later on in the novel.
Nancy is seen rescuing Oliver many times but then dragging him back into trouble just when he is
about to get out. She is confused because at first she kidnaps Oliver and, then, she protects him
from Bullseye
(Bill s dog). Then Nancy collects Oliver from Fagin so he can be used on a burglary with Bill
Sikes. Then Nancy has a discussion with Fagin and later overhears a conversation between him
and Monks about Olivier which again changes her mind! Nancy then visits Rose Maylie and then
a few days later she is planning to visit her again but Sikes won t let her out of the house. After
meeting Brownlow and Rose, Fagin suspects something, and Nancy is brutally murdered by the
psychotic Bill Sikes!
Nancy is such an important character in the novel Oliver Twist for many reasons, the most
important being that because she helps Oliver escape from the criminal underworld she is
risking her own life to save his. She gets whacked by Bill Sikes for trying to help Oliver and
trying to hide him and it is at this point she is realised as an important character. It s like that
saying everyone gets famous after they die! Nancy is important to the plot development because
she is shown as double sided in the novel but when Fagin employs Noah

Reasons For The Compromise Of 1877
Following the Compromise of 1877, many supporters of black rights, such as freed slaves or
radical Republicans, believed that conditions for freed blacks were worse than they had been when
they were enslaved. Though there were definitely upsides to freedom from slavery, many
conditions blacks lived under either didn t change or got worse after the Compromise. For example,
the removal of the military from the South allowed the southern government to pass laws limiting
blacks rights, meaning the social, political and economic conditions after the compromise were
similar to the ones they had lived with under slavery; the legalization of segregation made it more
difficult for blacks to influence white perception of their race; and violence against blacks
increased, and white protection of them decreased, as many saw them as less valuable once they
had been released from slavery. The compromise ended the reconstruction, which meant that the
military presence in the south, which had been virtually the only thing keeping a semblance of
order, was removed. This resulted in widespread and often unpunished violence against blacks. It
also left the southern government free to operate by itself, and measures were quickly taken to
limit the rights of blacks. Education budgets were cut, sharecropping regulations were changed in
order to favor plantation owners, and the right to vote was taken away from blacks. Blacks were
free from slavery, but they had nearly the exact same

Films are not only made to entertain, but also discuss social issues surrounding the society. It
serves as the mirror of the society in depicting its culture, traditions, and social conditions. It is
interesting how films are used to show the viewers the different problems revolving around the
country whether it is about love, life, friendship, relationship, marriage, or aging. British films are
using films to illustrate the problems and conditions of their society as they deal with male and
female conflicts, social class, and marriage. Through the years, these issues are still discussed and

The Importance Of The Little White House
In 1921 at the age of thirty nine years old Franklin Delano Roosevelt contracted polio after he
swam in the water at a Boy Scout Camp. Shortly afterwards, George Foster Peabody told the
New York Governor Roosevelt a story about a young polio victim who was cured by swimming
in the year round 88 degree Fahrenheit water at Warm Springs, Georgia (Minchew, 2003).
President Roosevelt visited Warm Springs forty one times, first arriving in 1924, and he
continued to visit at least once a year during his presidency. He enjoyed staying at Warm Springs
so much, that in 1926 Roosevelt decided to purchase the property from George Foster Peabody.
In 1927 he turned the property into the Warm Springs Foundation to help find a treatment for
polio and invited many in the community to come swim with him in the pools at the foundation.
The Little White House was built in 1932 for President Roosevelt so that he could visit the area
more frequently and escape from his presidential duties. The importance of the Little White House
was that American citizens in the rural areas of Georgia were able to rally around the new
president during the Great Depression as he was seen by the community as a friend rather than a
politician. One of the most crucial outcomes that Roosevelt facilitated at the Little White House
was the development of the Warm Springs Foundation. This was the first organization to start
searching for a treatment of polio and it was also the sponsor of the March of Dimes

The History of Bosnia
The history of Bosnia was full of violence, anger and war. Bosnia was once the epicenter of
former Yugoslavia. The state of Bosnia dates back to the Second Century and was quite different
from current Bosnia. Second Century Bosnia consisted of Latin speaking settlers from Roman
Empire and they were also Christians. (History of Bosnia and Herzegovina). The first ruler of
Bosnia, in the high middle ages, was Ban Boric. The second ruler was Ban Kulin and he ruled in
the late 1100 s. Ban Kulin was a well respected leader who ruled for three decades by keeping the
peace and stability within the state. He was able to strengthen the economy by signing treaties with
Venice and Dubrovnik. (History of Bosnia and Herzegovina)
After Kulin s ruling, Bosnia was taken over by Ottoman. Although Ottoman took Bosnia over, they
preserved the Bosnian identity within the culture. Ottoman ruled from 1463 1878. At this time, the
population was deeply affected because of frequent wars with European powers and there were
high rates of migration. Also at this time Islam was the largest ethnic group due to the high rise of
conversions to Islam. Due to the rise of Islam conversion, the population rate of Catholicism went
down. In 1875, the Ottoman Empire fell because of the Herzegovinian Rebellion and the uprising
of peasants. Because of these events and the Treaty of Berlin, the Ottomans were forced to give
control over to Austria Hungary. (History of Bosnia and

Mere Christianity Book 4 Summary
BOOK FOUR
BEYOND PERSONALITY: OR FIRST STEPS IN THE DOCTRINE OF THE TRINITY
We have now come to the fourth and final book of Mere Christianity. In this book, the author
takes us to the place in our Christian growth where we begin to rely more heavily on the power
of God and less on ourselves to become the being that God originally intended for us to be a son of
God. He begins with an explanation of the difference between making and begetting.
4.1 Making and Begetting
As Dr. Lewis continues with his discussion, he distinguishes between making and begetting. Before
he delves into his explication, he obviously realizes that the conversation he is about to embark
upon is one that is mainly a theological concept. Hence, he prefaces the main topic by citing an
argument believers present regarding the need for theology: a number of people feel that ... Show

He further clarifies that in Christianity, God is not even a person. Instead, he is a dynamic,
pulsating activity almost a kind of drama. Additionally, he says the Holy Spirit also shares in the
same love that exists between God and Jesus; and like them, He is eternal also. The author informs
us that we too can share in that eternal love, and we can help others share in it as well. Here, he
reminds us that those superior traits, as well as appalling ones that we know, come by a kind of
infection we come in contact with the source of the infection. Therefore, we can take part in the
shared love that exists between the three persons by coming in contact with that love. Furthermore,
we can expose others to that love, so that they might also become infected. Each of us, then, can
become a little Christ, which is the whole purpose of becoming a

The Importance Of National Interest In Indonesia
1No National Interest or Environmental Concern in Indonesia s GATS Schedule
There is evidence to suggest that trade agreements can and do contain provisions aimed at
ameliorating environmental damage caused as a result of tourism development. However,
Indonesia has not included any such provisions in its own agreements. Indonesia s schedule under
the GATS (especially in mode 3) allowed the presence of FDI in tourism in Bali. This schedule
potentially contributes to environmental damage associated with tourism because it has not yet put
any concern to national interest or public interest that justifies the government to impose measures
in order to protect those interests, including the environment.

Some WTO members have gone further by putting a particular concern on FDI in tourism to protect
what they have categorised as economic, social and environmental interest. In European
Communities schedule in tourism stated that FDI authorisation can be denied in order to protect
areas of particular historic and artistic interest in Spain, Greece, and Portugal. Meanwhile, in Italy,
a local economic needs test has to be done before opening of new bars, cafГ©s and restaurants that

Federal law enables cantons to grant licence for [foreign] restaurants based on economic needs

of neighbourhood, touristical interests, number of existing restaurants).
In relation to the establishment of hotels and restaurants, China tourism schedule then stipulates that:

Explain The Authoritarian System Of Government
+
INTRODUCTION
Authoritarian system of government in political science, can be defined as a system of
government that power is concentrated in the hands of a leader or elite which has strong central
government and limitations in political freedom as its features. The system strongly opposes the
thoughts of individuals. It operates under a single party rule and military force may be needed for
maintenance. It is best operated to serve as a fix for economic stagnation. It fosters long term
economic progress. According to Juan Linz (1975), who portrayed Authoritarian system of
Government to have the following features;
1.Limited plurality system: The system restricted institutions and groups like political parties,
legislatures.
2.It was termed to be a regime that was against easily understanding societal problems.
3.Limited political participation: The system allowed little or no political participation I.e.
complete restriction in the selection of heads of executive and very little limitations on the

black community is fed up and is protesting for justice. Blow starts off with an account from
Ebony G. Patterson, an artist, and professor, who stated that, the black body is a site of contention
(Blow 3). To justify the meaning of the phrase, it means that black bodies are a battlefield because
they are constantly fighting against themselves to make white folks comfortable. In other words,
black people are feeling as if they do not obtain freedom because the administrators are not
making movements towards making colleges safe for them. Blow states that the time of placidity
is at an end. Meaning that blacks will not tolerate it anymore. Young black folks are refusing
altercation or the mollification of conformity and are simply demanding justice , said Blow (Blow
9). Reason being is because black people believe that white people should accept them how they
are. Nonetheless, he makes it clear that black people aren t dealing with

Hallmark Aficionados In The Film, When Calls The Heart
If you are a fan of Hallmark s When Calls the Heart, or if you have seen a couple recent Hallmark
films in which a snobby, rich guy never seems to win the heart of his presumed intended, you may
be quite familiar with the masterful, young actor, Marcus Rosner. Though he seems to be typecast
as the bad guy, or the guy who never gets the girl, there is no denying that this dashing and
delightfully gifted actoris rising quickly in the hearts and minds of loyal Hallmark aficionados.
Recently, I had the opportunity to chat with Marcus about most things Hallmark as well as his
upcoming film, Appetite For Love.
THIRSTY FOR ADVENTURE

Even when I was auditioning, I was very impressed with the script. While the story might be
typical, the approach is anything but typical. I would call it a story with many layers.
An underlying theme in the film is that of being environmentally friendly. The hip approach today
is that of restaurants serving better foods and using environmentally sound methods. Fast food
places are consistently in competition with the places that serve better quality, fresher foods. And
all too often, those fast food places lose the battle.
Working with Andrew was great. We bonded over football I am a Dallas Cowboys fan (even
though they are not very good). What I liked about him was that he was never competitive with me
in any way. He was a warm and endearing person.
How did your experience in A Christmas Detour compare with An Appetite for Love?
In A Christmas Detour, I got to work with Barbara Niven, and I could go on and on about her.
She kept saying I was a young Christopher Reeve, and I should star in a film about his life. In her
sweet and professional way, she continued to say that the sky s the limit, and was always so

Eight Jews Hide from the Nazis in the Play, Secret Annex...
It is the year of 1942. Hitler has taken power in Europe. Eight Jews went into hiding after Hitler s
decision to exterminate the Jews. The eight, helped by the helpers, had to live together in a tiny
attic with fear of Hitler s green police. Mr. Frank is one of the eight Jews who went into hiding in
the Secret Annex in the Diary of Anne Frankby Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett. This play is
about Jews gone into hiding, and lives a hard life. Mr. Frank, one of the Jews, is a welcoming,
helpful, and a problem solver who helps the group to stay together and get over with hard times.
Welcoming means to be gladly accept other people. Mr. Frank has shown this trait throughout the
play. In Act 1 Scene 1, Mr. Frank welcomes Van Daans into

Frank wants to help Peter, but Mr. Van Daan, Peter s father, was blaming Peter and Mouschi for
failing in education. Finally, Mr. Frank helps Anne to get over her nightmare (Goodrich and
Hackett, Pg. 510). Mr. Frank comforts Anne instead of acting like Dussel to be mad at her, even
though they live in this dangerous place and one sound could lure the Green Police. Overall,
Mr. Frank has shown a really helpful trait throughout the play. Last but not least, Mr. Frank also
is a problem solver along with his helpful and welcoming traits. Problem solver is a person that
always has a solution to any problems. When the thief breaks in, Mr. Frank was calming
everyone down (Goodrich and Hackett). This shows Mr. Frank was calm and clear headed even
in this situation, and he was able to solve the panic among the group. Next, Mr. Dussel was
saying that he thought Franks moved to Switzerland when they saw the address in wastebasket,
Anne said, Father put that there purposely (Goodrich and Hackett, Pg. 506). Mr. Frank clearly
shows a good problem solver s smartness, and he was able to make other people to think that
they went to Switzerland, but not they went in hiding. Also, Mr. Frank tries to calm everyone
down when Mr. Van Daan steals food (Goodrich and Hackett, Pg. 534). Mr. Frank was able to
keep a cool head and calm everyone down when they are all starving and Mr. Van Daan tries to
steal food from the children. Mr. Frank was solving problems among the group and pulls the

Task 2 Moving To An English-Speaking Country
Task 1a
It can be hard moving from one place to another, especially if you speak another language and
have different cultures. Moving to a new place can be like moving to a completely new world
for some people. Doing stuff like go to the supermarket, library or school can be challenging.
There are things we can do to help these newcomers, and to make them feel more welcome. We
can for instance talk English with them. By doing that, they will understand more of what we are
saying. We can also try to speak slowly, so it is easier for the newcomers to understand.
Another thing that would really help would be to have some cultural offerings for the newcomers.
People could meet and get to know each other. The newcomers also may learn something about...

You cannot continue speaking your main language, and you may have to learn the new language.
Some languages may be harder to learn than others may, but one of the easiest language to master
must be English. At least for us Norwegians.
Since we have English as a class already in elementary school, English is the language we
Norwegians know best, except from Norwegian. We learn English every week throughout the
whole school. Not only do we learn English in school, but we also see English movies, read
English news and listen to English music. Our country is full off English, so it is hard to avoid it.
I think the main challenge for us moving to an English speaking country would be to speak
English. That would be because we do not speak as much English as we read. It would be
especially hard to speak English in countries like Scotland, due to the Scottish accent.
Conversations would sometimes be hard to take a part of, and understanding what the teacher
talks about could also be a challenge. In the beginning, you would probably have the person to
speak slowly and repeat the sentence many times. Also new expressions like pound, feet and miles
would be hard to understand. We would always have to translate the pounds into Norwegian
money to see how much money it really is. After a while, we may manage to just look at the
pounds and realize how much Norwegian kroner that would be.

The Year Of Magical Thinking By Joan Didion
The question that we aimed to answer as a class was: what do women want? The class focused
on themes such as desire, family, community safety, and even more, but I feel that the theme that
really appeared in all of the books and films that we studies was the idea of meaningful work.
This is one of the most important things that women want, or that anyone wants, because it is
doing something on a daily basis that means something to you and means something to
somebody else. Meaningful work presented itself initially in The Year of Magical Thinking by
Joan Didion when she discusses in both the play and the memoir the way that she has created an
identity as a writer, as well as the way that she bonded with her husband through their joint
identity as authors. It is also clear in the memoir that she is writing it in order to understand what
she was going through and it is the most important way that she can cope with the horrific
experience. Writing is meaningful work not only because she can share her craft and her
experience to help others, but it her work that makes her who she is. In More of This World or
Maybe Another, we see all of the characters come to and converge in a small laundromat. This is
the point of connection for all of the characters, and it is owned and run by one of the primary
characters. She pours her heart and soul into the laundromat, and she not only makes it a success,
but she makes a place of safety for the people in her community. She works so hard

rationale for your answer.
The mean severity for renal disease for the research subjects was 6.74. The dispersion or
variability of the renal disease severity scores was 2.97. The self care self efficacy severity score
did vary significantly with the experimental group s mean posttest score being 6.44 points higher
than its baseline mean score. This is important because this finding indicates that the empowerment
intervention had a positive impact on the self care self efficacy of the patients.
9. Which variable was least affected by the empowerment program? Provide a rationale for your
answer.
The depression variable was least affected by the empowerment program. The experimental group s
average baseline score only dropped 0.64 from the posttest, and the control group s average

John Dewey s Theory Of Evolution
Abstract
This research is on the background of John Dewey (1859 1952), his theories, his influences and the
impact that his research had on the educational systems across the United States. Functionalism,
Pragmatism and Individualism are looked at, as well as Darwin s Theory of Evolution. It also goes
into the
impact that Dewey s theories had on the educational system as it is viewed during John Dewey s
lifetime
and today.
John Dewey (1859 1952) was born in Burlington, Vermont in 1859. He graduated from the
University of
Vermont in 1879 and received his PhD from John Hopkins University in 1884. Dewey was a
leading figure
in psychology, leaning mainly toward functionalism and behaviorism. The Reflex Arc Concept in
Psychology, (1896)by John Dewey, is considered the major statement in the functionalist school of
thought. Although his main interest was educational psychology, Dewey was a voice for many
liberal
causes. Today his writings are still used by the more progressive factions in the United States.
Because
Dewey s writings and philosophies are so extensive, I am going to concentrate on his influence
related to
the educational system.
Dewey was partial to Charles Darwin s Theory of Evolution and the writings of William James.
You can
see the influence of Darwin s philosophies in John Dewey s educational works. He leaned heavily
on the
belief that people adapt to their environments and learn to function within them. Although the term

Essay about Andrew Jackson, an Ideal President for America
Andrew Jackson, seventh president of the United States of America, can be debated as either a
good president or bad president. But if one were to weigh out the positives and negatives of
Andrew Jackson s presidency, one would realize that his positives outweigh his negatives for a
variety of historic facts. Andrew Jacksonwas a good president because he represented the majority
of America s people by being a common, prevented a civil war when South Carolina threatened to
secede from the nation, and because he technically found or instigated the two major parties used
in America today (Democratic and Republican). Many Jackson oppositionists despise him because

Jackson is very important because he created or instigated the two dominant political parties we
use today (democratic and republican). The beliefs in these parties switched several times in
history but initially Jackson was a democrat. The major beliefs in democrats in the 1820s 1850s
were the beliefs in a small national government, pro states rights, and a strict interpretation of the
constitution. The republicans (initially known as the Whigs) essentially opposed all of Jackson
s beliefs and therefore had more or less the complete opposite beliefs of the democrats. By
starting these two political parties, he started the way people would categorize political
candidates throughout the rest of American history. There are many who are against Andrew
Jackson because he is a hypocrite. An example of this is how Jackson states he is against slavery
but still owned slaves. One has to understand that America was founded on hypocrisy. Essentially
what Jackson is trying to do is to make compromises on situations so he can support both sides of
an argument to represent as many people as possible. Conclusively Jackson was a great president
because he represented the people of America by being a common man, overcame huge obstacles
such as keeping South Carolina from seceding, and by forming the two most popular political
parties used in America today, the Democrats and the Republicans. Those who argue that Jackson
was a bad president simply

My Favorite Class
I wake up at 7:35 a.m. everyday. I take a shower, after that I get dressed; then I go downstairs and
make myself breakfast. I eat and then go back upstairs and brush my teeth. Finally, I leave for
school, and I get to my first block, which is seminar at around 8:20. I wait for my friend Erik to
get there and then we walk in together. Seminar is easily my favorite class of the day because I
have a couple of my friends in that class. My best friend in that class is Cameron, but I am also
friends with Darius and Emma. Me and Cameron have been friends since middle school, and we
used to hang out almost everyday. Now, Cameron has a girlfriend so he doesn t hang out with me
anymore and it makes me sad. Cameron is funny, but he is terrible at making plans. Therefore, half
of the time when we want to hang out we end up just sitting at home bored because he can t decide
what he wants to do. Darius and I have been friends since elementary school. He goes to James
River High Schoolnow, and I go to Lord Botetourt High School (LB), so we hardly see each
other. Me and Darius grew up playing basketball together which made us very close as kids. I
miss hanging out with Darius. Darius is shy, so many people don t know how funny darius

My Family Is Not The Typical Caucasian Family Dynamic
As with any family, ours is not the typical Caucasian family dynamic. We began with my
husband as the traditional breadwinner while I was finishing my college education. It was
planned that we both would be working in careers before we discovered I was pregnancy with
our first son. Three months later my spouse would suffer a great tragedy and was no longer able
to walk, much less work. I would have to take on the role of not only breadwinner, but also
caregiver and mother within the next year. Our familydoes not have the duel career supporting
parents as suggested in the text regarding our ethnic statistics.
Some similarities that our family has had with our African American ethnic families is that of the
maintaining and strong ties to our extended family, as stated in our text. Our families have often
pooled resources in order to support each other. My spouse and I have welcomed members into
our home when they were struggling to find work. Our house guests have ranged from: his
brother, my brother, nephews, and even a great nephew. Some of them have lived with us a few
months, others have stayed a few years. My spouse s sister lives with her husband, his brother, and
one of her daughters. While my mother lives with her cohabitant, my brother, and his daughter. My
grandparents raised not only their four children, my brother and myself, as well as my two cousins
in their home.

Spartan Military Leadership
Spartan Military The Spartan army was one of the most powerful armies in the ancient world.
When Spartan boys were babies they were looked over by The Council Of Elders to see if they
were strong enough to be Warriors. At the age of 7, the boys had to leave home to start there
military training. The boys were forced to fight each other (which could cause violence). They also
became skilled at stealing food, and at other survival skills.
The teenage boys who demonstrated the most leadership, were asked to join in the Crypteia,
which was like a secret police force whose goal was to terrorize the general Helot (which is a
member of serfs in ancient Sparta) and also to murder people that were troublemakers.

Managing Employee Retention and Turnover Essay
Managing Employee Retention and Turnover
Employee retention has always been an important focus for human resource managers. Once a
company has invested time and money to recruit and train a good employee, it is in their own best
interest to retain that employee, to further develop and motivate him so that he continues to provide
value to the organization. But, employers must also recognize and tend to what is in the best
interest of their employees, if they intend to keep them. When a company overlooks the needs of its
employees and focuses only on the needs of the organization, turnover often results. Excessive
turnover in an organization is a prime indicator that something is not right in the employee
environment. We will look at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
В· Training Employees want to increase their skills, knowledge, and abilities to remain
marketable. It gives them a sense of job security. In today s workplace, the more training
employees get, the more likely the employer will retain them. According to a 1999 Emerging
Workforce Study conducted by Interim Services and Louis Harris and Associates: Among
employees who say their company offers poor training, 41 percent plan to leave within a year,
versus only 12 percent of those who rate training opportunities as excellent. (Business Week, March
1, 1999)
В· Recognition According to Roger Herman, chief executive officer of The Herman Group, a
management consulting firm in Greensboro, N.C., you need to show [your employees] that you
appreciate them, that you value their opinions and show them in a lot of ways. Care and concern
for employees on a personal level means more to many employees than compensation.
В· Balance Management s recognition of the importance of personal and family life remains the
top driver of employee loyalty. Employees who spend a moderate amount of time each week
attending to personal matters while at work have a higher level of commitment to their employer
than those who spend no time. (America @ Work 1999, Aon Consulting, Chicago, Illinois;

Software Quality Implementation For Quality Assessment
ABSTRACT
Software quality is one of the most important concerns of software industry. Software testing helps
in measuring and verifying quality of a software product. There are several methodologies followed
by testing process for quality assessment. Each methodology has its own advantages and
disadvantages. Agile testing follows agile software development principles in which software is
tested for performance issues. In this paper we analyze quality assurance using agile processes and
will demonstration how agile process achieves software quality assessment.

Interacting directly with customers helps to understand customer s need. Moreover, it can up bring
success to the project. o Responding to Change
Software project may have inevitable changes which have to be corrected. Such unexpected issues
must be accommodated by the development process.
Team members with diverse skillset and knowledge would be useful when developing software
using agile. This whole team approach encourages effective and efficient team. It allows rapid
project delivery. Project feedback is possible at early stages of software development lifecycle
(Cockburn, Alistair, and Williams 2003). Therefore agile methodology is considered as cost as well
as time effective.
II.THE AGILE TECHNIQUES Most commonly used agile techniques are discussed here. Factors
associated with them help us to make a choice between different agile techniques.
Most commonly used agile techniques here:
Extreme Programming (XP)
Key principles described by Extreme Programming (XP) are communication, simplicity, feedback,
courage, and quality work (Beck 2000). Extreme programming practices can be followed only
when team size is small. This is not suitable process for distributed teams. Project length is general
short which is around 2 weeks.
Scrum
Scrum technique does not provide any guidance how testing should be progressed. Hence scrum
projects are usually divided into iterations also called as sprints. (Cervone 2011) Length of

  • 2. The Greek Parthenon vs the Roman Pantheon Essay The Greek Parthenon vs the Roman Pantheon Imagine asking a five year old to draw a picture of a house. A native Floridian probably wouldn t draw the typical split plan design with a tile roof and a screened in lanai. The extent of the child s artistic ability would probably consist of a box with a triangle on top of it. As fundamental as it sounds, the use of this structure has a long history dating back to ancient Greece. The classical Greek temple, the Parthenon, made use of this design and influenced (the still rather different) Roman Pantheon. These buildings are excellent examples of how architectural style reflects the culture of its creators and studying their relationship highlights how the ancient Mediterranean world ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Parthenon was made entirely out of marble, but it was either cheaply made or the technology was not advanced enough to make it smooth and time resistant. Today, the temple lies in ruins. The foundation and many of the columns still stand, but the roof and carved designs are all but missing. The Pantheon, built in Rome around AD 126, is in great condition yet today. More massive than the Parthenon, the exterior of the Pantheon still looks smoother. The eight Corinthian columns that line the front entrance are not as intrusive as the Doric columns of ancient Greece. They are thinner and ornately decorated. Also, the Pantheon gains its giant size because of its high walls, not by resting its foundation on a mountainous staircase. Again, this makes the temple more delicate than the Parthenon and this difference also infers that the Romans felt much more secure from the dangers of invasion. Unlike the Parthenon that was destroyed by enemies, the Pantheon still stands content. Continuing inside, the walls of the Pantheon are intrinsically a genius of splendor. They are decorated with ornate designs of Corinthian columns and mock windows. The beauty of the three dimensional wall fixtures is exemplified by sunlight let in by the large oculus at its zenith. Although the Parthenon has not survived time, its design has greatly affected our modern world. The children s design mentioned earlier ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Selma To Montgomery Analysis Civil resistance, a dividend that has sculpted an entire country, faced controversy that established equality throughout a nation. While there has been a multitude of civil resistance cases within the United States, none may be as important as the march from Selma to Montgomery. Answering questions such as: the practices behind civil resistance, what future activists can learn, as well as how prior knowledge of the subject could benefit present researchers, the march from Selma to Montgomery rewrote history books. When defining civil resistance, the underlying foundation behind the definition can be seen within the deep seated roots of equality, which is located in the analysis of Selma. To commence, the practices supporting this civil resistance ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Scarlet Ibis Quotes Beyond the Ibis In the story The Scarlet Ibis by James Hurst, the Scarlet Ibis portrays how people must learn to leave those they love alone through representing Doodle and his struggles in life. To begin, in the middle of the story the Scarlet Ibis sits on a tree in Doodle s backyard, and his parents think how a storm must have brought it [there] (Hurst 473). First of all, this quote shows how the storm pushes the bird physically since it ends up in a different region from where it typically lives; symbolizing how Brother pushes Doodle out of his comfort zone, which would represent the bird s typical habitat. Furthermore, this push causes Doodle to perish; Brother forces Doodle too much with his teaching, when he should be letting Doodle rejuvenate. Secondly, before the Ibistakes its final breath, Daddy comments on how it looks tired , or maybe... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Initially, Daddy shows concern for the bird s fatal condition, and the reader can infer that he potentially wants to help it, but the bird is already deceased, again showing how it is too late and must be left alone. Afterwards, Brother comes back to help Doodle through his final physical test, only to find that Doodle s death has always been imminent, and that he has now died; yet Brother tries to wake him up or search for any life in him, but like the Ibis, it is too late for Doodle and Brother must move on; Doodle would not want him to mourn forever. Finally, when the Ibis falls out of the tree and dies, Brother states how even death did not mar its grace, for it lay on the earth like a broken vase of red ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. I Got Trapped By My Own Success Essay Alexander Weygers lived a life of creative adventure on an income so low it never interested the Internal Revenue Service. He continually complained that man s essential failure was to know when enough was enough, and he used the line at which he would need to write a check to the IRS as his definition of enough. There was one occasion, though, when he flirted with that line. I got trapped by my own success, he said. Weygers dalliance with the tax man came in the late 1950s when he traded a piece of sculpture for an Exacta single lens camera. It was a particularly cold winter on the Monterey Peninsula. Toward the conclusion of a trip to a junkyard in Salinas, heavy sleet began to fall. As he waited in the bed of his truck for the storm to pass, Weygers picked up the camera that happened to be beside him and began taking super close up photos of the raindrops on the windshield. The clouds eventually parted and rays of light pierced the droplets, causing a refraction in his lens. Weygers hurried home and began playing with light refractions on leaves and frozen over chuckholes. He then raced to the beach, taking similar zoomed in shots of a piece of seaweed and an ant colony. The result was a never before seen, free form photography or artography, as Weygers termed it. In his studio, he would suspend drops of water from the bottom side of a sheet of glass. Then, using a macro lens he created himself, Weygers would look into the inside of the raindrop and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The type of research used for this article was exploratory and used a combination of online self report Likert scale surveys as well as Path analysis. Additionally, this article examined an alternate model was used to test a causal relationship between self compassion and mindfulness. Literature Review This subject is important to study for several reasons. Adolescents emotional well being can make or break suicidal ideation, they can have positive self regard or negative, and it can effect academic performance as well as personal relationships. This article covered stress, and its ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This article shares findings from another study, a meta analysis regarding the connection between self compassion and psychopathology. I would be interested in looking this one up for further review. Although mindfulness was not related to another study this article addresses, it did share the correlation found between self compassion and connectedness. This correlation is something that I see that can mitigate some suicidal ideation. Research Question The main question posed by this article is whether or not skills in mindfulness are able to help adolescents navigate the difficulties of their developmental stage (Bluth Blanton, 2014). Another question that was posed by the article was, if adolescents practice these mindful techniques, will they become better equipped to handle negative emotions and events. Research Hypothesis The hypothesis of this article was that adolescents would be able to develop positive emotion well being and self compassion through the use of mindfulness (Bluth Blanton, 2014). It was theorized that self compassion and mindfulness were interdependent, and those who practice the mindfulness techniques would be better able to develop positive self regard. Methodology of Research According to the article, they conducted an online survey with sixty seven urban high school adolescents. This was followed by the use of Path ... • 9. The Underground Railroad Analysis Unraveling History within The Underground Railroad While Colson Whiteheads, The Underground Railroad (2016) memorializes slavery, it also broadens our otherwise unrealistic views of American history. The novel follows a young slave girl, Cora, on her historic venture through delusional America on the Underground Railroad, shortly after the congress passed the Compromise of 1850 (285). As Cora travels north, she discovers that every state individually expresses different attributes of slavery(68). The Compromise of 1850 forced northerners to return all found fugitive slaves back to the south (TC1850). During an interview with David Bianculli, Whitehead mentions that the default view of slavery consists of strict slave catcher s and master s interpretations, rather than the historical aspects of slavery (8 Aug. 2016). This observation allows him to focus on a fictional storyline that derives nonfictional events in history. In, The Underground Railroad, Whitehead emphasizes an alternate view of the American history pertaining to the institution of slavery. Throughout every elementary History class, educators explain the colonization of America in a crudely oversimplified, unrealistic way. Teachers often emphasize that the English simply overtook claimed land, rather than stating the whites came to this land for a fresh start and to escape the tyranny of their masters, just as the freeman had fled theirs. But the ideals [that] they held up for themselves, they denied for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There is still no exact proof on where the Parathions were able to use it since there were no wires found for the electric current to flow. The battery is composed of a clay pot, a copper tube enclosing a half inch metal tube and an asphalt stopper as a resistor. Inside the clay, there is a solution which contains electrolytes such as vinegars and juice. Scholars found out that the Parathions first ferment their wine as so that the wine will contain more free ions. And the copper tube together with the metal tube helps the electric current flow. Green Crates recognises the importance of addressing this issue, and so I will be evaluating exactly how our business will be doing this. I will also explain key stakeholder concerns, business ethics, sustainabilityand Kaitiakitanga; where I will also talk about the challenges our business will face. By recognising these challenges and making improvements, Green Crates can ultimately reduce plastic waste going into landfills now, and in the future. Plastic waste is a major problem in New Zealand ( Why recycle?, n.d.). Revenge In Oresteia Research Paper 2017In the Greek play Oresteia, the theme of the intersection between past, present, and future can be seen in the instances of revenge and justice that occur between various characters. Also, the play can teach us many aspects about how to improve our life in the future in order to become better people, by learning and deviating from our actions and forgiving others for what they have done instead of retaliating. In Oresteia, the reoccurring theme of revenge can be seen in all three acts in the play, producing much of the tragedy in it. The date is the day the deal started for Henry Ford not because the company had his name, the day all his hard work would start to payoff. From the start in Ford s garage to the offices of lawyers, and then on to control of the largest automotive companies in the world one can see the deal was just a key to Mr. Ford s future. To start, Henry Fordwas born on a family farm during the Civil War. This is what would drive Mr. Ford; not wanting to be a farmer and wanting to work on machinery. Unsatisfied with farm work, Ford left home the following year, at the age of 16, to take an apprenticeship as a machinist in Detroit. In the years that followed, he would learn to skillfully operate and service steam engines, and would also study bookkeeping. Later Henry Ford would work for the Edison Lighting Company as an engineer, later Ford would become chief engineer. Ford got a chance to meet Thomas Edison and showed Edison his plans for his first horseless carriage. This meeting would lead to a friendship that would help Ford when designing his assembly line. This is found most clearly in the men of the loftiest genius and greatest souls. They wonder why they should toil and strain in life when it is much easier to do the basic necessities. However, many people of the past and present have sacrificed their lives for something that they believe in and value. This can be many different ideas and institutions of life. Many that sacrifice do this because of the thoughtthat their names and deeds would continue after them. They believed in the ideaof immortality, not of the body, but rather of the soul and that it will continue long after them. This is supported by the voice of nature and the general opinion of people. Those in great power believe in this idea and this motivates their actions. This idea even carries over to even poets and philosophers with their desire for fame even after their death. Their view towards death is important in how they live their lives. A forward thinking mindset is useful for life and how they prepare for death. This adds to the value of their lives and the work they perform. I agree that we are aware of the future and act accordingly with the pursuit of higher things in life. Most know that it has been adopted to refer to Indianaians, but its true meaning and origin are a mystery. This mystery is what intrigued J.P. Dunn and prompted him to write Origin of the Word Hoosier. In his work, Dunn makes the argument that there is no true known origin of the word. Dunn believes that the true stories are nothing more than legends warped by time and the facts that people believe cannot be proved to be anything more than just theory. The first fact, based upon the legendof the word hoosier, is that the word was originally used as a slang term to describe a rough, uneducated class of people. This belief has stemmed from the reasoning that a great many of the legends describe the character of the people labeled hoosier as childish and uncivilized. One such legend is told by Mrs. C. W. Bean. She recalls, One of my aunts said, What a lot of hoosiers there are in town. In surprise, I asked, Why, I am a Hoosier. ? A horrified look came over my aunt s face, and she exclaimed, For the Lord s sake, child, don t let anyone here know that you are a hoosier. I did not make the claim again, for on closer inspection the visitors proved to be a wild looking lot who might be suspected of never having seen civilization before. • 31. Reasons For The Compromise Of 1877 Following the Compromise of 1877, many supporters of black rights, such as freed slaves or radical Republicans, believed that conditions for freed blacks were worse than they had been when they were enslaved. Though there were definitely upsides to freedom from slavery, many conditions blacks lived under either didn t change or got worse after the Compromise. For example, the removal of the military from the South allowed the southern government to pass laws limiting blacks rights, meaning the social, political and economic conditions after the compromise were similar to the ones they had lived with under slavery; the legalization of segregation made it more difficult for blacks to influence white perception of their race; and violence against blacks increased, and white protection of them decreased, as many saw them as less valuable once they had been released from slavery. The compromise ended the reconstruction, which meant that the military presence in the south, which had been virtually the only thing keeping a semblance of order, was removed. This resulted in widespread and often unpunished violence against blacks. It also left the southern government free to operate by itself, and measures were quickly taken to limit the rights of blacks. Education budgets were cut, sharecropping regulations were changed in order to favor plantation owners, and the right to vote was taken away from blacks. Blacks were free from slavery, but they had nearly the exact same ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 35. The Importance Of The Little White House In 1921 at the age of thirty nine years old Franklin Delano Roosevelt contracted polio after he swam in the water at a Boy Scout Camp. Shortly afterwards, George Foster Peabody told the New York Governor Roosevelt a story about a young polio victim who was cured by swimming in the year round 88 degree Fahrenheit water at Warm Springs, Georgia (Minchew, 2003). President Roosevelt visited Warm Springs forty one times, first arriving in 1924, and he continued to visit at least once a year during his presidency. He enjoyed staying at Warm Springs so much, that in 1926 Roosevelt decided to purchase the property from George Foster Peabody. In 1927 he turned the property into the Warm Springs Foundation to help find a treatment for polio and invited many in the community to come swim with him in the pools at the foundation. The Little White House was built in 1932 for President Roosevelt so that he could visit the area more frequently and escape from his presidential duties. The importance of the Little White House was that American citizens in the rural areas of Georgia were able to rally around the new president during the Great Depression as he was seen by the community as a friend rather than a politician. One of the most crucial outcomes that Roosevelt facilitated at the Little White House was the development of the Warm Springs Foundation. The first ruler of Bosnia, in the high middle ages, was Ban Boric. The second ruler was Ban Kulin and he ruled in the late 1100 s. Ban Kulin was a well respected leader who ruled for three decades by keeping the peace and stability within the state. At this time, the population was deeply affected because of frequent wars with European powers and there were high rates of migration. Also at this time Islam was the largest ethnic group due to the high rise of conversions to Islam. Due to the rise of Islam conversion, the population rate of Catholicism went down. In this book, the author takes us to the place in our Christian growth where we begin to rely more heavily on the power of God and less on ourselves to become the being that God originally intended for us to be a son of God. He begins with an explanation of the difference between making and begetting. 4.1 Making and Begetting As Dr. Lewis continues with his discussion, he distinguishes between making and begetting. Before he delves into his explication, he obviously realizes that the conversation he is about to embark upon is one that is mainly a theological concept. The author informs us that we too can share in that eternal love, and we can help others share in it as well. Here, he reminds us that those superior traits, as well as appalling ones that we know, come by a kind of infection we come in contact with the source of the infection. Therefore, we can take part in the shared love that exists between the three persons by coming in contact with that love. Furthermore, we can expose others to that love, so that they might also become infected. Each of us, then, can become a little Christ, which is the whole purpose of becoming a ... The mean severity for renal disease for the research subjects was 6.74. The dispersion or variability of the renal disease severity scores was 2.97. The self care self efficacy severity score did vary significantly with the experimental group s mean posttest score being 6.44 points higher than its baseline mean score. This is important because this finding indicates that the empowerment intervention had a positive impact on the self care self efficacy of the patients. 9. Which variable was least affected by the empowerment program? Provide a rationale for your answer. The depression variable was least affected by the empowerment program. The experimental group s average baseline score only dropped 0.64 from the posttest, and the control group s average baseline score had no change in the posttest and stayed at 10.40. 10. Was it important for the researchers to include the total means and SDs for the study variables in Table 2 to promote the readers understanding of the study results? Provide a rationale for your answer.

John Dewey s Theory Of Evolution Abstract This research is on the background of John Dewey (1859 1952), his theories, his influences and the impact that his research had on the educational systems across the United States. Functionalism, Pragmatism and Individualism are looked at, as well as Darwin s Theory of Evolution. It also goes into the impact that Dewey s theories had on the educational system as it is viewed during John Dewey s lifetime and today. John Dewey (1859 1952) was born in Burlington, Vermont in 1859. He graduated from the University of Vermont in 1879 and received his PhD from John Hopkins University in 1884. Dewey was a leading figure in psychology, leaning mainly toward functionalism and behaviorism. The Reflex Arc Concept in Psychology, (1896)by John Dewey, is considered the major statement in the functionalist school of thought. Although his main interest was educational psychology, Dewey was a voice for many liberal causes. Today his writings are still used by the more progressive factions in the United States. Because Dewey s writings and philosophies are so extensive, I am going to concentrate on his influence related to the educational system. Dewey was partial to Charles Darwin s Theory of Evolution and the writings of William James. You can see the influence of Darwin s philosophies in John Dewey s educational works. He leaned heavily on the

But if one were to weigh out the positives and negatives of Andrew Jackson s presidency, one would realize that his positives outweigh his negatives for a variety of historic facts. Andrew Jacksonwas a good president because he represented the majority of America s people by being a common, prevented a civil war when South Carolina threatened to secede from the nation, and because he technically found or instigated the two major parties used in America today (Democratic and Republican). Many Jackson oppositionists despise him because of he is a hypocrite, however America was founded on hypocrisy so as an... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Jackson is very important because he created or instigated the two dominant political parties we use today (democratic and republican). The beliefs in these parties switched several times in history but initially Jackson was a democrat. The major beliefs in democrats in the 1820s 1850s were the beliefs in a small national government, pro states rights, and a strict interpretation of the constitution. The republicans (initially known as the Whigs) essentially opposed all of Jackson s beliefs and therefore had more or less the complete opposite beliefs of the democrats. By starting these two political parties, he started the way people would categorize political candidates throughout the rest of American history. There are many who are against Andrew Jackson because he is a hypocrite. An example of this is how Jackson states he is against slavery but still owned slaves. One has to understand that America was founded on hypocrisy. Essentially what Jackson is trying to do is to make compromises on situations so he can support both sides of an argument to represent as many people as possible. Conclusively Jackson was a great president because he represented the people of America by being a common man, overcame huge obstacles such as keeping South Carolina from seceding, and by forming the two most popular political parties used in America today, the Democrats and the Republicans. Those who argue that Jackson was a bad president simply ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I eat and then go back upstairs and brush my teeth. Finally, I leave for school, and I get to my first block, which is seminar at around 8:20. I wait for my friend Erik to get there and then we walk in together. Seminar is easily my favorite class of the day because I have a couple of my friends in that class. My best friend in that class is Cameron, but I am also friends with Darius and Emma. Me and Cameron have been friends since middle school, and we used to hang out almost everyday. Now, Cameron has a girlfriend so he doesn t hang out with me anymore and it makes me sad. Cameron is funny, but he is terrible at making plans. Therefore, half of the time when we want to hang out we end up just sitting at home bored because he can t decide what he wants to do. Darius and I have been friends since elementary school. He goes to James River High Schoolnow, and I go to Lord Botetourt High School (LB), so we hardly see each other. Me and Darius grew up playing basketball together which made us very close as kids. I miss hanging out with Darius. Darius is shy, so many people don t know how funny darius actually is. I miss seeing him outside of school a lot like I used to. • 62. Managing Employee Retention and Turnover Essay Managing Employee Retention and Turnover Employee retention has always been an important focus for human resource managers. Once a company has invested time and money to recruit and train a good employee, it is in their own best interest to retain that employee, to further develop and motivate him so that he continues to provide value to the organization. But, employers must also recognize and tend to what is in the best interest of their employees, if they intend to keep them. When a company overlooks the needs of its employees and focuses only on the needs of the organization, turnover often results. Software testing helps in measuring and verifying quality of a software product. There are several methodologies followed by testing process for quality assessment. Each methodology has its own advantages and disadvantages. Agile testing follows agile software development principles in which software is tested for performance issues. In this paper we analyze quality assurance using agile processes and will demonstration how agile process achieves software quality assessment. Such unexpected issues must be accommodated by the development process. Team members with diverse skillset and knowledge would be useful when developing software using agile. This whole team approach encourages effective and efficient team. It allows rapid project delivery. Project feedback is possible at early stages of software development lifecycle (Cockburn, Alistair, and Williams 2003). Therefore agile methodology is considered as cost as well as time effective. II.THE AGILE TECHNIQUES Most commonly used agile techniques are discussed here. Factors associated with them help us to make a choice between different agile techniques. Most commonly used agile techniques here: Extreme Programming (XP) Key principles described by Extreme Programming (XP) are communication, simplicity, feedback, courage, and quality work (Beck 2000). Extreme programming practices can be followed only when team size is small. This is not suitable process for distributed teams. Project length is general short which is around 2 weeks. Scrum Scrum technique does not provide any guidance how testing should be progressed. Hence scrum projects are usually divided into iterations also called as sprints. (Cervone 2011) Length of ...
