The Animal Use Of Animals In The Colosseum
I don t think that animals shouldn t have been used in the colosseum for gladiator fights. Some might
believe that animals were used to make the fights more entertaining. But I believe that it was very
unkind to the animals and inhumane. This is misguided because they could have use something else to
entertain themselves like plays or something other than killing thousands of animals and humans.
Many animals went extinct in the colosseum. The animals killed a lot of people at the colosseum.
They(people in the colosseum and the townspeople) would kill a lot of animals. The definition of a
gladiator is a person who was a professional fighter, and fought in front of people in the colosseum in
the Roman Empire. Some things about the colosseum are it was started to be built in 70 A.D and
finished 10 years later. The height of the colosseum was 157ft and the perimeter was 1788 ft. There
were 4 floors and it could hold 50,000 people. The arena was 180 ft wide and 287 ft long. One other
thing about the colosseum is over 1 million animals died there. The first reason that i don t think
animals shouldn t have been used in the colosseum is because many animals went extinct in the
colosseum. The first example is elephants, lions, and tigers from Africa and Asia were hunted until
extinct by the townspeople. I m wondering why the townspeople liked to kill and make some extinct?
The second example is that sometimes whole species like European Wild horses, the Great Auk, the
Aurochs,

Petroglyphs Writing History
The idea of communicating ideas between people and generations is not a new one, for millennia
stories, advice, knowledge, has been passed from generation to generation; first orally, then through
petroglyphs, and finally handwriting. Although true handwriting has existed for five thousand years;
first invented by the Sumerians as a means of long distance communication which was necessitated by
trade (Mark, Joshua J. Writing. Ancient History Encyclopedia. Ancient History Encyclopedia, 28 Apr.
2011), it may not be the first form of writing ever invented. Some scholars argue that the petroglyphs
found on cave walls in France and Spain were the first form of writing, these paintings were
pictograms, depicting not only a hunt, but, some theorize, the location of hunts, who participated, and
sometimes even contained, or may have contained, a lesson. Don t hunt buffalo here unless you have a
hunting party , Dangerous Mammoth, kill many hunters , Good water near, many deer come drink .
(Gaur, Albertine. Non linguistic Forms of Writing. Literacy and the Politics of Writing. Bristol, UK:
Intellect, 2000. 16 29. Print.) These petroglyphs helped the Neanderthal tribal society thrive, they

Invented by Austin Palmer in 1888, the method was praised for simplicity and plainness, focusing on
the proximal muscles of the arm rather than the fingers, it allowed students and teachers to write at a
more consistant speed that was said to be able to compete with the typewriter. (wikipedia) Although it
eventually fell out of use in favor of later methods, it is still considered the grandfather of modern
handwriting in most of the world, especially in the United States and England.

Female Roles In Dystopian Literature
In a research done by Mcclantoc (2016), it can be deduced that the main ingredient of a good
dystopian literature are the main protagonists who induce some kind of social change in their society
or world. This applies regardless of the two types of dystopia; one that is apparent or in the guise of a
utopia. In dystopian literature, the main characters are the average person. They are usually male
characters. At the beginning of the story, they noticed the flaws in their society and question or
disagree with it. The characters are devised and carefully laid out that they eventually show initiative
to induce change in their society or world. Yet, the main female character who is included in the story
alongside the main character serves as a trigger or guide to initiate the main character to make a
change for their dystopic society or world. Despite how hard the female character provides aid to the
main male character, she does not rise to be in the spotlight in the story. The theory by Gottelieb
(2001) observed the criterion of how the female protagonist is viewed and portrayed in dystopian
literature. The theory mocked the existence of the female characters in the story. It seems that these
female characters only have two tasks in their story. They serve as the trigger to directly or indirectly
start the main character s initiative; to only step aside later and let the male hero take over and bring
victory. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dystopian literature is becoming one of the most popular genre among young adult (YA) literature.
Gradually, more female main characters emerged and take over the role of the main male protagonist.
This is when Linh Cinder from The Lunar Chronicles comes in, serving as a good example of a female
protagonist, setting a new set of parameters for the new protagonists of dystopian

How Does Walter Lee Use Social Class In To Kill A Mockingbird
Jem and Scout decide to invite Walter over to their home. Despite Scout s curiosity about Walter and
his strange habit of drown[ing] his dinner in syrup, Walter s visit to the Finch household is successful.
The children certainly enjoy his company, as does Atticus, who talk[s] to him like a grown man about
farm problems. After hearing that a Cunningham was rarin[g] for an outright acquittal for Tom
Robinson, Scout s friendship with Walter is further cemented. Unfortunately, Aunt Alexandra forbids
Walter from visiting their home. He is trash, and she will not have Scout picking up his habits and
learning Lord knows what.
Aunt Alexandra s displays her values when she refuses to let Scout play with Walter. To her, social
class and family is crucial. The Cunninghams are not [the Finches ] kind of folks. They are considered
yappy and tacky ; not because of their moral beliefs, but because they are poor, low class farmers.
Aunt Alexandra deems Walter s social class more important than Walter himself. ... Show more

Because there is a drinking streak in [his] family a mile wide, Walter is trash. It is unlikely that Walter

However, even Aunt Alexandra declares there is no doubt in [her] mind that [the Cunningham s] are

care of their appearance; Walter wears a clean shirt and neatly mended overalls on the first day of
school.
It is only Aunt Alexandra s concern about social class that prevents Scout from being a friend of
Walter. The Cunningham s may have similar values to the Finches , but their social status in Maycomb

Christianity in William Blake s Works
Christianity in Blake Theology is actually one of the many topics that frequently appears in a variety
of work of English poet William Blake. A brief overview of some of the author s more noted works
such as The Marriage of Heaven and Hell , The Book of Thel , and Songs of Innocence and
Experience readily attest to this fact. In Songs of Innocence and Experience, however, a number of the
author s poems seem to integrate a decidedly Christian worldview within their text and the cosmology
presented to readers through these works. This proclivity of Blake s is particularly salient in The
Chimney Sweeper and The Lamb . In fact, one can argue that most of the fundamental beliefs that
Christianity is based upon are found within these poems, which serve as excellent examples of the
author s tendency to write poems that adhere to a decidedly Christian viewpoint. Thematically, each of
the aforementioned poems details some of the central precepts in Christianity. This point is made
abundantly clear when one analyzes The Chimney Sweeper , which connotes situations that are
analogous to the redeeming grace of Jesus whose presence and divinity the religion of Christianity is
based upon for sinners: which is implied by the dirt and soot that characterizes the young chimney
sweepers in this poem. Within this poetic work Blake makes allusions to the sacrament of baptism, in
which the redeemed chimney sweepers are primarily able to earn God s grace after they wash in a
river

An Analysis Of Modest Proposal By Jonathan Swift

GEW 101
November 3, 2015
The Irony in Cannibalism Humor in serious topics can bring the light side of things and can also bring
more attention than just talking about them. In Modest Proposal written by Jonathan Swift, he uses
humor to talk about the famine that was happening back then and proposes an economical idea. By
using the word Proposal in his title, he gives a reasonably suggestion to aid the Irish, Swift mentions
them one by one the many benefits and counters the objections many may have, uses rhetorical
reasoning and proves his humanitarian views. Swift has written in detail over the degree of poverty in
IReland, he draws attention to the causes of it and proves in great detail that his Proposal will work in
which ways it does work. Jonathan Swift had a rough childhood only raised by his mother. Swift s
mother did not have a steady income and struggled to raise Swift all by her self. Swift was later passed
on to his dad s brother who was wealthy. Transitioning from poor to wealthy was difficult for Swift
but it let him see both sides of the world. Swift worked as English statesman for 10 years and helped
for political errands (The Biography.com Editors 2015). In 1712, he moved back to Ireland as soon as
he saw that Tories would fall from power. He has written many famous writings, including Gulliver s

Exploring The Role Of Hearing Loss In The 1940 s
Hearing serves a crucial benefit for understanding the world around us. During the 1940 s, Dr.
Ramsdell realized that hearing serves four crucial function; symbolically we are informed or
entertained, aesthetically hearing is naturally pleasing, warningly we are alerted or prepared,
primitively we are aware of our surroundings [1]. The ear is typically divided into three sections, used
to simplify the hearing process. The first section, or the outer ear, is composed of the auricle (skin
covered cartilage), the auditory canal, and the tympanic membrane (the outer layer of the eardrum).
The middle ear section contains the eardrum, tympanic cavity, and the ossicles. These ossicles are
three small bones often referred to as malleus (hammer), ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to HearingLoss.org, more one in every five Americans suffer from some form of hearing
loss, that s about 50 million Americans. By the age of 65, 1/3 of all Americans suffer from hearing
loss [5]. Because of the large size of affected patients, developing and improving hearing correctional
methods is an ever growing and advancing field of study. While there exist several solutions to a wide
variety hearing problems, we are going to discuss Middle Ear Replacements in this report. Middle Ear
Implants and replacements aim to correct sensorineural hearing issues. Often times, patients will elect
to receive a middle ear implant instead of dealing with the expense and hassle of traditional hearing
aids. Recently, the FDA has approved a middle ear transducer implant called the Vibrant Sound
bridge. The Sound bridge operates by connecting a Floating Mass Transducer to the incus (anvil)
bone. This transducer is connected to external audio processor that is discretely attached externally
above the ear. When the external processor receives a soundwave, a signal is transmitted to the
internal transducer. The transducer then vibrates in such a way that mimics natural middle ear
amplifications

New France Economy Essay
There were many things that brought about the development of the economy in New France. They
ranged from simple things like fishers and traders and then developed into a global scale market, with
trade passing to and from Europe and New France regularly. This process evolved from a simple
fishing operation to a market driven colony with a massive network of trading posts, which in turn
began the fur trade and monopolies which later led to the industrial development of New France.
Fishing in North America began very early in the 16th century. In 1550, about 500 ships sailed from
France heading to North America for the fish laden waters there. Upon arrival, they formed fishing
communities along the northern coast of Newfoundland, and in Saint ... Show more content on

The theory was that the more a country exported, the larger the economy it had. This system relied on
exporting as much as possible while collecting as many raw materials without importing from other
states. European powers developed their economies and colonies based on this concept. The colonies
would supply the mother countries factories while also providing a point of sale for the finished
products. Meanwhile, the mother countries would rely on these raw materials in order to manufacture
them and then sell them to other states. This attitude is what led to the development of the trading post
colonies in New France, which were created in order to supply the mother country with materials to
manufacture. During the late 16th century, New France was a colony based on exploitation and trade.
Trading posts were being built for the fur trade because of a lot of merchants, ship owners, explorers,
and traders taking an interest in it. The first trading post was built in Tadoussac in 1600. It was
followed shortly after by a second in Acadia that was built in 1604. In 1608, Samuel de Champlain
founded the first permanent trading post, the Quebec City

Cold War Vs Communism Dbq Essay
Whether or not communism or capitalism was more powerful was the question at hand during the
Cold War. The Soviet Union and the United States had a major difference over a political and
economic system called Communism. The idea of communism, the belief that private property should
be replaced by community, was accepted by the Soviet Union but the United States opposed it. By the
end of the war, the US and the Soviet Union never actually came in contact and fought, however, the
US managed to contain communism and prevent the Soviets from expanding. The US contained
communism through aiding Berlin, invading Korea, and quarantining Cuba.
After World War 2 had ended, the four big nations remaining met to divide Germany. Among this
division meant the divide between communism and capitalism that drew a line which eventually was
called the Iron Curtain and split all of Europe as well as Germany. Within Germany there was also a
divide in the capital, Berlin (Doc B). The Soviets wanted the control of eastern Berlin to guarantee

Figure Of The Independence Movement
The founding fathers weren t the only ones who had developed this mighty country. Without the early
military and the War of Independence, our country might as well went to the British Empire. Even
back then, early leaders like George Washington knew that this land had immense amount of potential
for a powerful country. Because of this potential, all the leaders the military who fought seven brutal
and bloody wars to achieve independence from the British are probably the most influential people in
American history. From all of this, the America I believe in is strong and will never give up to keep

Independence movement was probably George Washington.

Essay On Cost Drivers
Implementation of similar drivers occur during Maintenance and Service Operations. As with new
fabrication, labor is a key prime cost associated with service and regular maintenance of aircraft.
Though this cost is easy to allocate to specific airframes by hour, it is also important to note that
service and maintenance require a higher percentage of Support Costs through inspections, analysis,
and customer involvement activities. As such, implementation of ABC methods in this sector requires
more detailed analysis of support and labor costs to identify cross activity correlations. Finally,
Training and Support Activities would be the most difficult to clarify prior to implementation. Cost

ABC Cost Structure Cessna has a fairly straightforward product set that lends itself to ABC fairly
easily. Regardless if the airframe is being designed, assembled, or serviced, the ABC activities and
associated cost drivers are applicable to all operating activities. Product promotion and advertising
utilize similar mediums and sales of all types of airframes are handled using similar cost drivers.
Moving into the Design and Engineering phase, employees can again combine these tasks into an
activity center that runs off of design hours as their primary cost driver. Airframe Fabrication covers
the physical production and construction activities and would be budgeted based on multiple cost
drivers depending on the hourly requirement per item. The most logical cost driver in this category is
the number of parts requiring assembly or fabrication. Once assembly is complete,
Inspection activities assess the quality and integrity of the finished airframe to prevent failures and
possible catastrophic consequences. Similar to fabricating, where the number of parts determine cost,
the cost driver for inspections are the number of inspections necessary to obtain the required
airworthiness certifications. The final overhead costs

second is the psychological theory. There will be summarizing of the crime (dates, offenders, how
they were caught if they were). The two theories will try to explore the crime. Each of the theory will
shed light on the reasons for the crime. For this paper, I will provide evidence to which theory seems
to be stronger. I will also show any evidence that will lead to the deviant path that was taken. I will be

General Aviation And A Business Jet
General Aviation Value Analysis The Comparison This General Aviation Value Analysis will provide a
comparison between commercial aviation and a business jet. To help with this comparison a short
distance and a long distance trip will be used. Both trips will be a business trip in nature and each
include myself and three additional colleagues. The business trip is set for July 12th. The departure
location is Seattle, WA to Boise, ID (short trip) and Seattle, WA to Houston, TX (long trip). The
analysis can then be used by the business to compare and contrast the best solution.
Commercial Air Travel
The commercial airline selected for the business trip is Alaska Airlines. The airline is the ideal carrier
because Seattle is Alaska Airline s hub, making it the best choice for both trips. It s important to point
put today that commercial airlines face an overwhelming high volume of travelers. With more and
more passengers traveling via commercial airlines, one of challenges business travelers face today is
the longer wait times through the TSA security check point, delayed flights, overbooked flights, and
even flight cancellations. This in return can cost a business a deal, increase business travel time, and
add to the travel cost. For many business travelers time is money.

much familiarized with the position of each key and comfortable with pressing the keys without lifting

receive any kind of instruction. The first thing I did was to search for YouTube videos because it is an
excellent choice to learn almost anything, not just instruments. YouTube not only teaches the viewers
by demonstrating on how to complete a particular task, but also uses videos to help the viewers
visualize what is going on. There was a variety of piano videos that were made specifically for
beginners like me. There was also variation between each videos depending on who the instructor was
and in which angle it was shot. Generally, I chose the videos that contained a well experienced
instructor instead of an amateur, and a good camera angle that clearly showed all the piano keys. After
this learning experience, I am confident that I am no longer a beginner. Although instructions from the
videos were easy to follow, there were still some challenges that I encountered during my practices
that could not be solved by the internet resources entirely. Having questions meant that I would have
to comment on the video and wait for an answer or look for a new video in order to find solution.

The Year 1000 By Robert Lacey And Danny Danziger
The Year 1000 by Robert Lacey and Danny Danziger offers a delightful, often astonishing portrait of
everyday life in Anglo Saxon England in the year 1000. This very informative book, describes what
life was like that the turn of the first millennium. The Anglo Saxons, a practical, self contained,
fervently superstitious people, were 99% illiterate, yet their language would become their most
widespread legacy. Compared to modern day times, people are almost the opposite from the Anglo
Saxons. There are many qualities that are the same, but also different when comparing the Year 1000
to the modern era of the 21st century. Within this paper, it will discuss about how the community,
lifestyle, advances in technology, politics, and religion were formed in the Year 1000. It will also
compare and constrast the Year 1000 to the Paleolithic and Neolithic era.
The Paleolithic Era (or Old Stone Age) is a period of prehistory from about 2.6 million years ago to
around 10000 years ago . There are very few subjects that are more controversial than the origins of
the human species. During the Ice Age, a race of people known as the Neanderthals inhabited the
fringes of the European ice pack . Because their remains were discovered in Neanderthal in Germany,
these people were known as Neanderthals. Neanderthals were slightly different then Homo sapiens.

Advantages Of Rolling Bags For Nursing School
Best rolling bag for nursing students What are the best rolling bags for nursing students? To be honest,
nursing books are heavy and numerous. Although it might not be necessary to carry all books along to
school, there will surely be times when you must tote several of them at once. Moreover, while on
campus, you will probably do a lot of walking and it will not be easy toting heavy books. Research
shows, carrying heavy books in small back packs on a constant basis can lead to long term back ache.
I doubt if anyone will want to begin a nursing career with prolong back pain issues. This unnecessary
pain can simply be avoided by using the proper tote bag. Although there are a lot of choices in tote
bags for nursing student, not all bags are equal. Thus, when purchasing a rolling bag for nursing
school, functionality should be the first thing to consider. You should ask yourself the following
questions; will the bag hold a reasonable number of books? is there enough space for other stuffs such
as laptops, tablets and nursing materials? You really need to consider these questions because most
rolling bags available in the market do not have enough space to hold laptops and tablets. In addition,
you must check if there are side pockets and areas of storage for extras such as keys, smartphones and
water bottles. Another important quality to watch out for is durability. Some more things to think
about. Is the bag made of high quality material that will serve you throughout

Employee Relations And High Turnover Environment
Employee Relations In High Turnover Environment Retail employment makes up a great deal of the
younger peoples jobs. The jobs require a low amount of skill, but also only give a lower amount of
pay. They are usually used as a building point for many as they begin their lives as working
professionals. Most often these positions are temporary and the turnover rate is exceptionally high.
According to Career Builder, an analysis of [Bureau Of Labor Statistics] by the National Retail
Federation, nearly a quarter of retail workers voluntarily left a job in 2010 (Career Builder, 2011).

I had never had a run in with any of my managers previously, but did not feel particular close to one
manager. His style was cold and to flat out tell you what to do while picking favorites with some of
the employees who had been at the location for a while. One particular day, the store was mobbed and
I was trying to keep up with folding clothes and telling customers about the deals available at the
moment. One of my co workers came over to me and said that my manager said he was going to run
me over and that I needed to hurry up in what I was doing. He felt that I was moving slow and not
getting enough of my tasks done according to his standards. The manager never said anything directly
to me and I never approached him or my co worker about it after the incident. After it happened, I
became very uncomfortable and insecure in my quality of work. I felt that when I came into work, I
was more of a hindrance than any actual help. About a week or two after the incident happened I put
in my 2 week notice and left. Since then, I still avoid the store because I see the manager working,
which is sad because I enjoyed working there and loved the clothing.
Analysis of Leadership Behavior Having learned more about leadership and now looking back on the
situation, I can see that my manager at the time had some shortcomings when it came to

Political Theories And Ideology Of Liberal Democracy Essay
Many challenges put a stress on Modern Democracy because of the political theories and ideology our
government holds, the current politicians taking office, inequalities throughout social classes and
economies, and the opinions of We the People . Nearly every country claims to be some form of a
democracy, but not all these self proclaimed democracies allow for free politics, good government,
and rule of law (Crick, 2002). Liberal democracy has begun to win over its royalist, fascist, and
collectivist rivals over the course of the last few centuries, and the freedom to vote has been steadily
expanded to those who were without it. But the liberal democracies of the world do have problems.
Democracy is only as good as its citizens, and the quality of those citizens demands certain constant
factors (7 Concerns, 2012).
Gerrymandering is the process in which political boundaries are redraw or changed in order to benefit
one political party over another one; if one party has power of the state legislature, then they can
change political boundaries to maximize their chances of winning congressional districts to win an
election. By doing this, unfair and skewed results are produced because redrawn lines can be made to
help one party win over the other, since constituents for the losing party will be divided between
districts (Tormsen, 2015). This will also allow the winning party to win more electoral votes and seats
(Tormsen, 2015). This practice is uniquely American and can be

The Use of Humor in the Writings of Mark Twain
What is humor? With humor we think of something that is obvious, something that sticks out to us in a
book or in a paper that makes us laugh. Samuel Clemens, better known as Mark Twain, included
numerous occasions of humor throughout his writings, though Mark Twain makes his humor very dry
and sometimes hard to tell that it is even there. Mark Twain, unlike most authors, includes humor in
his writings without it being blatantly obvious. In a small excerpt from an essay by Naomi Hori on
humor in one of Twain s writings, she writes, Let me clarify the features of Twain s laughter. His way
of evoking laughter is apparently by writing a book; there is no interaction between Twain and his
readers. There is a time lag till readers laugh ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He believed that humor was the best way for people to deal with their anger and feelings towards
different problems or issues. One writing that Mark Twain is not as famous for, but is still a well
known piece of work for showing the use of humor in his writings is, The Celebrated Jumping Frog of
Calaveras County . This work starts off slow without much humor until later on in the writing. The
humor picks up as Twain includes bits of sarcasm to the mix. The humor in this short work is not so
hidden or subtle as it may have been in some of Twain s other writings. One example of this sort of
dry humor is, And Smiley says, sorter indifferent like, It might be a parrot, or it might be a canary,
may be, but it an t it s only just a frog. (Jumping Frog). This shows a side and type of writing that is
not usually seen with Twain. Usually the humor in his writings was always sort of hidden away and
harder to pick out, but in this work, it is more obvious that he is trying to make it humorous. The
Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County may not be as widely known as some of Twain s other
work, but it is a good example of how he includes humor into his writings to catch the reader s
attention and to provide some comic relief from, at times, tense situations.
Mark Twain is more known for one of the most controversial novels in American history, The
Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. This famous work

What Is The Mood Of The Seafarer
The Seafarer is a elegy style poem that depicts the suffering and the hardships of an unnamed traveler
of the sea. It is notably similar to the poem from the previous lesson , The Wanderer, in the sense that
most of the poem consists of the narrator sharing his misfortunes with the readers. The poem takes
readers on a mental walk through of the narrator´s Psychological Journey that begins with him
expressing his sorrow and concludes with his realization that, despite the hardships he endures in his
life at sea, he should live in gratitude to God for all that He has done. The narrator´s Psychological
Journey undergoes several different seasons. These seasons are both emotional and literal as the
climate briefly changes from Winter to Spring halfway through the poem. The narrator´s emotional
seasons begin on a fairly grim note. He introduces the readers to his harsh seafarer lifestyle that calls
for extreme endurance of vicious weather and bitter cold; not to mention the emotional endurance that
he struggles to maintain. In the opening line, readers catch a hint of something that, depending one´s
perspective, can be interpreted as sarcasm from the narrator. Simply put, he says that his life would
make a good song; the trials he faces as a seafarer, though they wear him out, could end up
entertaining others. In lines 4 33 provide an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

thankful and content. However, this realization that God, the creator of the world, is all knowing and

certainly something to be thankful

MARFAN SYNDROME
BY MELISSA STEVENS
May 22, 2014 southeastern college
Abstract
Marfan syndrome is a genetic disorder that affects the body s connective tissue. Connective tissue
holds all the body s cells, organs and tissue together. It also plays an important role in helping the
body grow and develop properly. About 1 in 5,000 people have Marfan syndrome, including men and
women of all races and ethnic groups. There is no cure for Marfan syndrome. To develop one,
scientists may have to identify and change the specific gene responsible for the disorder before birth

People with Marfan syndrome are born with it, but features of the disorder are not always present right
away. Some people have a lot of Marfan features at birth or as young children including serious
conditions like aortic enlargement. Others have fewer features when they are young and don t develop
aortic enlargement or other signs of Marfan syndrome until they are adults. Some features of Marfan
syndrome, like those affecting the heart and blood vessels, bones or joints, can get worse over time.
This makes it very important for people with Marfan syndrome and related disorders to receive
accurate, early diagnosis and treatment. Without it, they can be at risk for potentially life threatening
complications. The earlier some treatments are started, the better the outcomes are likely to be.
There is no cure for Marfan syndrome. To develop one, scientists may have to identify and change the
specific gene responsible for the disorder before birth. However, a range of treatment options can
minimize and sometimes prevent complications. The appropriate specialists will develop an
individualized treatment program; the approach the doctor s use depends on which systems have been
affected. Annual evaluations are important to detect any changes in the spine or sternum. This is
particularly important in times of rapid growth, such as adolescence. A serious malformation not only

Operational risk management for small enterprises
Is a tool used by management to make smart decisions about how to mitigate risks. The goal is to
manage risk so that there is minimal impact on the continuity of the business. Operational risk
management involves five steps which includes; identifying hazards, assessing the hazards, making
risk decisions, implementing controls and supervising watching for change to occur. There are also
three levels associated with risk management to include in depth, deliberate and time critical.
Operational Risk Management is worth of doctoral level study because it is the means through which
risks that would negatively affect business operations are identified and informed judgment to mitigate
the identified risks are made. Hence it decreases or eliminates operational loss in businesses, decreases
exposure to future risks by ensuring that management has good continuity plans and detects illegal
actions. It is therefore essential at a doctorial level to have well informed knowledge about operational
risk management to better suit in the work environment.

Arius On The Status Of Christ-Theoristic
4.7 Arius (c.250 c.336) on the status of Christ Patristic
Arius disagrees with the incarnation of God. Arius insists that God is unchangeable.
Because the Father is regarded as existing before the Son, Arius believes that the Son is a creature.
Arius did rank the Son differently out of all other creatures. Arius regards the Son by saying, a perfect
creature, yet not as one among other creature; a begotten being, yet not as one among other begotten
beings. It is said that, the consequences of this viewpoint were critiqued by many at the time, and also
that his views were known, through the writings of his opponents.

soteriology. Torrance explains, God s conception and birth of the Virgin Mary, apart from a human
father, did not alter the fact that the birth of Jesus was truly of the flesh just like that of all other
human beings. Also on the grounds of Soteriology, Torrance explains that when the Son of God
became man which effected our salvation through humanity, it was the whole man. In this passage,
Torrance shows the representation of a leading western theological to evaluate and appropriate the
emerging Christological consensus of the Greek patristic

I Remember An Exchange Between Two Board Members Essay
Acknowledge the problem. I remember an exchange between two board members. One member was
frustrated with the direction the organization was taking. He told the other, Just don t worry about it. It
isn t that important. Keep in mind what appears to be a small issue to you can be a major issue with
another. Acknowledging the frustration and concerns is an important step in resolving the conflict.
Honesty and clear communication play an important role in the resolution process. Acquaint yourself
with what s happening and be open about the problem. Let individuals express their feelings. Some
feelings of anger and/or hurt usually accompany conflict situations. Before any kind of problem
solving can take place, these emotions should be expressed and acknowledged.
Establish guidelines. Before conducting a formal meeting between individuals, get both parties to
agree to a few meeting guidelines. Ask them to express themselves calmly as unemotionally as
possible. Have them agree to attempt to understand each other s perspective. Tell them if they violate
the guidelines the meeting will come to an end.
Be patient and take your time. Take time to evaluate all information. A too quick decision does more
harm than good when it turns out to be the wrong decision and further alienating the individual
involved.
Avoid using coercion and intimidation. Emotional outbursts or coercing people may stop the problem
temporarily, but do not fool yourself into thinking it is a long term

What Did Jay Learn From The Great Gatsby
In the book, The Great Gatsby, by F. Scott Fitzgerald the readers as well as the characters learn
numerous lessons, mainly Nick Carraway s wealthy mysterious neighbor, Jay Gatsby. Gatsby grew up
a poor man and wanted to do everything he possibly could to change his way of living. He is a
character that experiences a countless number of dilemmas, which changes him on his search for his

Throughout the story we learn the truth about the real Jay Gatsby. At the start of the book all he
wanted was Daisy, the love of his life; however he had to leave her behind when he went to fight in
WW1 (Fitzgerald 153). While he was gone her love for him faded and she found and married a man

Porphyria s Lover And My Last Duchess
Robert Browning s poems Porphyria s Lover and My Last Duchess depict a mastery of the dramatic
monologue style. Said style contains a narrative told by a character s point of view that differs from
that of the poet. The character s monologue consists of them discussing their particular situation that
they find themselves within, this is meant to convey their internal information to the reader or
audience. This in turn allows the reader a glimpse into the personality of the narrating character.
Within Porphyria s Lover and My Last Duchess these monologues are used along with poetic devices
to develop unique male personas. Between these two personas there are evident differences in class
and within each class social issues arise within each work. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Both of these works contain the unique ability, as portrayed by Browning, to create a deep fictional
psyche that displays the strange relationship between man and woman. This relationship is displayed
as one full of pain, jealousy, rejection and happiness, the majority of these emotion are contained in
love and marriage. From this the reader can infer the nature of love being the conquering of class
distinction and marriage involves sexist male inhibitions. Insecurities are seen in both poems and are
evident in the perspective voices of the male protagonists, who are seen as incapable to handle their
aggressive and possessive natures when it comes to love and marriage. Browning seems to be
demonstrating the side of relationships avoided previously by Romantics and in doing so shows the

Pop Art Research Paper
Notably Pop Art and Assemblages have been described as brash and also extreme and subversive in
terms of the sixties pop art period. Some early stirrings of this movement can be traced back to
England in the late fifties, with a small association of: artists, designers and historians known as the
ICA. Institutes of Contemporary Art, London. Given the intellectual approach to science, culture and
material s being explored within these early beginning s. It became evident that the robust influence of

This being said indicates that Pop art could be seen as one of those crossover movements. The
confusion and extreme madness of colour and space show events of the Dada influence. Investigating
the historical and cultural issues could be the starting point for many artworks and inspiration. To say
that an artwork is brash, extreme or subversive, indicates a responds to any artwork or movement.
However the point of art, to get a respond either being good or bad... If you have serious ideas, you
make art, discoveries, and all of a sudden your head starts to break up into laughter, if you find that all
your ideas are useless and ridiculous, know that DADA HAS BEGUN TO SPEAK TO YOU 10.The

The question it raises, is it art because its contexts are in a gallery space? or should we ask what is the
fundamental aim of the objects used? The object of art is the intelligently language in a visual format.
The Dada movements short influence could be seen as a weapon that injected humour both in a
rebellious and spontaneous revolution. This could be misread and not seen as well though out, however

  • 2. The Animal Use Of Animals In The Colosseum I don t think that animals shouldn t have been used in the colosseum for gladiator fights. Some might believe that animals were used to make the fights more entertaining. But I believe that it was very unkind to the animals and inhumane. This is misguided because they could have use something else to entertain themselves like plays or something other than killing thousands of animals and humans. Many animals went extinct in the colosseum. The animals killed a lot of people at the colosseum. They(people in the colosseum and the townspeople) would kill a lot of animals. The definition of a gladiator is a person who was a professional fighter, and fought in front of people in the colosseum in the Roman Empire. Some things about the colosseum are it was started to be built in 70 A.D and finished 10 years later. The height of the colosseum was 157ft and the perimeter was 1788 ft. There were 4 floors and it could hold 50,000 people. The arena was 180 ft wide and 287 ft long. One other thing about the colosseum is over 1 million animals died there. The first reason that i don t think animals shouldn t have been used in the colosseum is because many animals went extinct in the colosseum. The first example is elephants, lions, and tigers from Africa and Asia were hunted until extinct by the townspeople. I m wondering why the townspeople liked to kill and make some extinct? The second example is that sometimes whole species like European Wild horses, the Great Auk, the Aurochs, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Petroglyphs Writing History The idea of communicating ideas between people and generations is not a new one, for millennia stories, advice, knowledge, has been passed from generation to generation; first orally, then through petroglyphs, and finally handwriting. Although true handwriting has existed for five thousand years; first invented by the Sumerians as a means of long distance communication which was necessitated by trade (Mark, Joshua J. Writing. Ancient History Encyclopedia. Ancient History Encyclopedia, 28 Apr. 2011), it may not be the first form of writing ever invented. Some scholars argue that the petroglyphs found on cave walls in France and Spain were the first form of writing, these paintings were pictograms, depicting not only a hunt, but, some theorize, the location of hunts, who participated, and sometimes even contained, or may have contained, a lesson. Don t hunt buffalo here unless you have a hunting party , Dangerous Mammoth, kill many hunters , Good water near, many deer come drink . (Gaur, Albertine. Non linguistic Forms of Writing. Literacy and the Politics of Writing. Bristol, UK: Intellect, 2000. 16 29. Print.) Invented by Austin Palmer in 1888, the method was praised for simplicity and plainness, focusing on the proximal muscles of the arm rather than the fingers, it allowed students and teachers to write at a more consistant speed that was said to be able to compete with the typewriter. • 4. Female Roles In Dystopian Literature In a research done by Mcclantoc (2016), it can be deduced that the main ingredient of a good dystopian literature are the main protagonists who induce some kind of social change in their society or world. This applies regardless of the two types of dystopia; one that is apparent or in the guise of a utopia. In dystopian literature, the main characters are the average person. They are usually male characters. At the beginning of the story, they noticed the flaws in their society and question or disagree with it. The characters are devised and carefully laid out that they eventually show initiative to induce change in their society or world. Yet, the main female character who is included in the story alongside the main character serves as a trigger or guide to initiate the main character to make a change for their dystopic society or world. Despite how hard the female character provides aid to the main male character, she does not rise to be in the spotlight in the story. The theory by Gottelieb (2001) observed the criterion of how the female protagonist is viewed and portrayed in dystopian literature. The theory mocked the existence of the female characters in the story. It seems that these female characters only have two tasks in their story. They serve as the trigger to directly or indirectly start the main character s initiative; to only step aside later and let the male hero take over and bring victory. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dystopian literature is becoming one of the most popular genre among young adult (YA) literature. Gradually, more female main characters emerged and take over the role of the main male protagonist. This is when Linh Cinder from The Lunar Chronicles comes in, serving as a good example of a female protagonist, setting a new set of parameters for the new protagonists of dystopian ... • 5. How Does Walter Lee Use Social Class In To Kill A Mockingbird Jem and Scout decide to invite Walter over to their home. Despite Scout s curiosity about Walter and his strange habit of drown[ing] his dinner in syrup, Walter s visit to the Finch household is successful. The children certainly enjoy his company, as does Atticus, who talk[s] to him like a grown man about farm problems. After hearing that a Cunningham was rarin[g] for an outright acquittal for Tom Robinson, Scout s friendship with Walter is further cemented. Unfortunately, Aunt Alexandra forbids Walter from visiting their home. He is trash, and she will not have Scout picking up his habits and learning Lord knows what. Aunt Alexandra s displays her values when she refuses to let Scout play with Walter. To her, social class and family is crucial. The Cunninghams are not [the Finches ] kind of folks. They are considered yappy and tacky ; not because of their moral beliefs, but because they are poor, low class farmers. Aunt Alexandra deems Walter s social class more important than Walter himself. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because there is a drinking streak in [his] family a mile wide, Walter is trash. It is unlikely that Walter himself drinks, as he is only a child. However, even Aunt Alexandra declares there is no doubt in [her] mind that [the Cunningham s] are good folks. They never take anything they can t pay back and once you earn their respect, they [are] for you tooth and nail. The Cunningham children try to get an education, unlike the Ewells. They take care of their appearance; Walter wears a clean shirt and neatly mended overalls on the first day of school. It is only Aunt Alexandra s concern about social class that prevents Scout from being a friend of Walter. The Cunningham s may have similar values to the Finches , but their social status in Maycomb is more important. Aunt Alexandra likens coming from a low class to being ... • 6. Christianity in William Blake s Works Christianity in Blake Theology is actually one of the many topics that frequently appears in a variety of work of English poet William Blake. A brief overview of some of the author s more noted works such as The Marriage of Heaven and Hell , The Book of Thel , and Songs of Innocence and Experience readily attest to this fact. In Songs of Innocence and Experience, however, a number of the author s poems seem to integrate a decidedly Christian worldview within their text and the cosmology presented to readers through these works. This proclivity of Blake s is particularly salient in The Chimney Sweeper and The Lamb . In fact, one can argue that most of the fundamental beliefs that Christianity is based upon are found within these poems, which serve as excellent examples of the author s tendency to write poems that adhere to a decidedly Christian viewpoint. Thematically, each of the aforementioned poems details some of the central precepts in Christianity. This point is made abundantly clear when one analyzes The Chimney Sweeper , which connotes situations that are analogous to the redeeming grace of Jesus whose presence and divinity the religion of Christianity is based upon for sinners: which is implied by the dirt and soot that characterizes the young chimney sweepers in this poem. Within this poetic work Blake makes allusions to the sacrament of baptism, in which the redeemed chimney sweepers are primarily able to earn God s grace after they wash in a river ... • 7. An Analysis Of Modest Proposal By Jonathan Swift Arnel John Chester Gasic Professor Stricker GEW 101 November 3, 2015 The Irony in Cannibalism Humor in serious topics can bring the light side of things and can also bring more attention than just talking about them. In Modest Proposal written by Jonathan Swift, he uses humor to talk about the famine that was happening back then and proposes an economical idea. By using the word Proposal in his title, he gives a reasonably suggestion to aid the Irish, Swift mentions them one by one the many benefits and counters the objections many may have, uses rhetorical reasoning and proves his humanitarian views. Swift has written in detail over the degree of poverty in IReland, he draws attention to the causes of it and proves in great detail that his Proposal will work in which ways it does work. Jonathan Swift had a rough childhood only raised by his mother. Swift s mother did not have a steady income and struggled to raise Swift all by her self. Swift was later passed on to his dad s brother who was wealthy. Transitioning from poor to wealthy was difficult for Swift but it let him see both sides of the world. Swift worked as English statesman for 10 years and helped for political errands (The Biography.com Editors 2015). In 1712, he moved back to Ireland as soon as he saw that Tories would fall from power. He has written many famous writings, including Gulliver s Travel Ireland was a colony of England; it was economically, politically, and militarily ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Exploring The Role Of Hearing Loss In The 1940 s Hearing serves a crucial benefit for understanding the world around us. During the 1940 s, Dr. Ramsdell realized that hearing serves four crucial function; symbolically we are informed or entertained, aesthetically hearing is naturally pleasing, warningly we are alerted or prepared, primitively we are aware of our surroundings [1]. The ear is typically divided into three sections, used to simplify the hearing process. The first section, or the outer ear, is composed of the auricle (skin covered cartilage), the auditory canal, and the tympanic membrane (the outer layer of the eardrum). The middle ear section contains the eardrum, tympanic cavity, and the ossicles. These ossicles are three small bones often referred to as malleus (hammer), ... By the age of 65, 1/3 of all Americans suffer from hearing loss [5]. Because of the large size of affected patients, developing and improving hearing correctional methods is an ever growing and advancing field of study. While there exist several solutions to a wide variety hearing problems, we are going to discuss Middle Ear Replacements in this report. Middle Ear Implants and replacements aim to correct sensorineural hearing issues. Often times, patients will elect to receive a middle ear implant instead of dealing with the expense and hassle of traditional hearing aids. Recently, the FDA has approved a middle ear transducer implant called the Vibrant Sound bridge. The Sound bridge operates by connecting a Floating Mass Transducer to the incus (anvil) bone. This transducer is connected to external audio processor that is discretely attached externally above the ear. When the external processor receives a soundwave, a signal is transmitted to the internal transducer. The transducer then vibrates in such a way that mimics natural middle ear amplifications ... • 10. New France Economy Essay There were many things that brought about the development of the economy in New France. They ranged from simple things like fishers and traders and then developed into a global scale market, with trade passing to and from Europe and New France regularly. This process evolved from a simple fishing operation to a market driven colony with a massive network of trading posts, which in turn began the fur trade and monopolies which later led to the industrial development of New France. Fishing in North America began very early in the 16th century. In 1550, about 500 ships sailed from France heading to North America for the fish laden waters there. Upon arrival, they formed fishing communities along the northern coast of Newfoundland, and in Saint ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The theory was that the more a country exported, the larger the economy it had. This system relied on exporting as much as possible while collecting as many raw materials without importing from other states. European powers developed their economies and colonies based on this concept. The colonies would supply the mother countries factories while also providing a point of sale for the finished products. Meanwhile, the mother countries would rely on these raw materials in order to manufacture them and then sell them to other states. This attitude is what led to the development of the trading post colonies in New France, which were created in order to supply the mother country with materials to manufacture. During the late 16th century, New France was a colony based on exploitation and trade. Trading posts were being built for the fur trade because of a lot of merchants, ship owners, explorers, and traders taking an interest in it. The first trading post was built in Tadoussac in 1600. It was followed shortly after by a second in Acadia that was built in 1604. In 1608, Samuel de Champlain founded the first permanent trading post, the Quebec City ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The idea of communism, the belief that private property should be replaced by community, was accepted by the Soviet Union but the United States opposed it. By the end of the war, the US and the Soviet Union never actually came in contact and fought, however, the US managed to contain communism and prevent the Soviets from expanding. The US contained communism through aiding Berlin, invading Korea, and quarantining Cuba. After World War 2 had ended, the four big nations remaining met to divide Germany. Among this division meant the divide between communism and capitalism that drew a line which eventually was called the Iron Curtain and split all of Europe as well as Germany. • 25. Political Theories And Ideology Of Liberal Democracy Essay Many challenges put a stress on Modern Democracy because of the political theories and ideology our government holds, the current politicians taking office, inequalities throughout social classes and economies, and the opinions of We the People . Nearly every country claims to be some form of a democracy, but not all these self proclaimed democracies allow for free politics, good government, and rule of law (Crick, 2002). Liberal democracy has begun to win over its royalist, fascist, and collectivist rivals over the course of the last few centuries, and the freedom to vote has been steadily expanded to those who were without it. But the liberal democracies of the world do have problems. Democracy is only as good as its citizens, and the quality of those citizens demands certain constant factors (7 Concerns, 2012). Gerrymandering is the process in which political boundaries are redraw or changed in order to benefit one political party over another one; if one party has power of the state legislature, then they can change political boundaries to maximize their chances of winning congressional districts to win an election. By doing this, unfair and skewed results are produced because redrawn lines can be made to help one party win over the other, since constituents for the losing party will be divided between districts (Tormsen, 2015). This will also allow the winning party to win more electoral votes and seats (Tormsen, 2015). This practice is uniquely American and can be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This work starts off slow without much humor until later on in the writing. The humor picks up as Twain includes bits of sarcasm to the mix. One example of this sort of dry humor is, And Smiley says, sorter indifferent like, It might be a parrot, or it might be a canary, may be, but it an t it s only just a frog. (Jumping Frog).
