Vascular Hyperpermeability Case Study
Vascular hyperpermeability is a causative factor in several disease states including ALI (39). Although
primarily produced in the liver, we observed that the murine pulmonary vasculature also expresses the
extracellular serine protease, HABP2 (36). Therefore, we silenced HABP2 expression in the
pulmonary vasculature and observed that it attenuated LPS and VILI induced pulmonary vascular leak
(36). Since HABP2 is upregulated in ALI, this study examined the functional consequences of HABP2
overexpression and the endogenous inhibitor(s) of HABP2 during ALI.
Reports indicate that the extracellular serine protease inhibitor, C1INH, can effectively bind HABP2
in the blood (27). We therefore examined whether C1INH can colocalize with HABP2 in ... Show

We grew HLMVEC to confluency, changed to 2% media and added either control or 100 ng/ml
C1INH one hour prior to the addition of control, 100 ng/ml purified endothelial HABP2, 1 ug/ml LPS
or 100 nM LMW HA (which we have previously demonstrated can activate HABP2 protease activity
(36)) for 15 minutes. Cells were solublized and the ratio of pSer536 p65 NF kB to total p65 NF kB
was quantitated using an ELISA kit (Abcam). Figure 2 A indicates that preincubation with C1INH
inhibited HABP2, LPS and LMW HA mediated NF kB activation. LMW HA was inhibited the least
likely due to the fact that it can also bind CD44v10 and TLR4 (41). We and others have previously
shown that HABP2, LPS and LMW HA can activate the small G protein, RhoA, in EC (36, 39, 41 44).
Using the same experimental setup at Figure 2 A, Figure 2 B indicates that preincubation with C1INH
inhibited HABP2, LPS and LMW HA mediated RhoA activation. LMW HA was inhibited the least
likely due to reasons stated above. Finally, Figure 2 C indicates that C1INH moderates EC barrier
function. Specifically, pretreatment of HPMVEC monolayers with C1INH (100 ng/ml, 1 hour)
attenuated LPS, LWM HA and purified HABP2 mediated EC barrier disruption while slightly (but
significantly) augmenting HMW HA mediated EC barrier enhancement.
We next switched our focus to an in vivo model of LPS induced ALI. Figure 3 A indicates that, in a
murine model of control (no LPS) or ALI using intratracheal administration of LPS followed by lung

King Kong Cultural Differences
The cultural differences represented in King Kong (1933) and King Kong (2005)
In the original, Bruce Cabot portrays Jack Driscoll who is the first mate of The Venture, the ship that
Carl Denham hires to sail to Skull Skull Island to film a feature film. Driscoll is the hero that, upon
falling in love with Fay Wray s Ann Darrow, He is the one most determined to save Ann Darrow after
she is sacrificed too Kong.
33 s Driscoll is honorable, courageous, and strong, all these virtues are all represented through
driscolls ruggedness. While he is a man of few words, the Jack Driscoll of the 1933 says what he
means no matter whom he might offend, whether he is referring to the ritualistic practices of Skull

remember that weekend I made plasticine dinosaurs and started to try to do some stop motion
animation with my little Super 8 camera. (Stratton, 2005)
when Kong is chained up in the Manhattan theater for public display, Denham creates a deformed
version of the 3 hour film where native performers wear the native costumes from the original film,
even duplicating the sacrificial ritual. This way, Jackson gets to almost satirically acknowledge the
racist and sexist attitudes that were prevalent in 1933 America, without giving these ideas legitimacy
them and offending modern viewers. But there s more to it than that. Jackson wanted his film to be
faithful in as many ways as he could, he found ways to get the more homage to his favorite film by
faithfully recreating moments and cues within a creative context. While recreating the sacrifice the

Henry Ford In Brave New World Essay
Henry Ford in Brave New World Aldous Huxley wrote Brave New World in 1932. Brave New World
is set in London, in AD 2540. The novel shows life in a utopia where there is advanced reproductive

start to become unhappy, they can take a drug called soma. Henry Ford is considered the God. Henry
Ford is an appropriate God figure because he was the leading industry person of his time, Brave New

We have the World State now. And Ford s Day celebrations, and Community Sings, and Solidarity

everyone is created in a test tube. They are raised in the Central London Hatchery until they can
survive on their own and then they get their job and go into the world. Everyone is conditioned to be
in a certain caste and do certain job. The castes are Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, or Epsilon. Alphas are
conditioned to be leaders and attractive. Each caste you go down is less attractive and intellectual. The
Epsilon are conditioned to do harshest jobs and are deprived of oxygen as embryos, therefore they are
not very smart. At the hatchery they use hypnopaedic which is sleep teaching, so the children will
learn the morals of the World State. There is no aging in this world, they all take pills to keep them
young and once they reach a certain age they die. In Brave New World, it is seen odd to have real
relationships with people. The people are all very promiscuous, and it is seen odd to be with the same

United States Involvement During The Korean War
June 25th, 1950 was the first military action taken during the Cold War. This was the start of the
Korean War when close to 750,000 North Korean soldiers crossed the 38th parallel and entered South
Korea. North Korea had been Communist and ruled by Ho Chi Minh while South Korea was not
communist and were being ruled by Ngo Dinh Diem, who was a very harsh, cruel leader who killed
many of his own people. However, the United States supported South Korea because they were
against communist and was trying to practice their policy of containment. Americans were scared that
the Korean War would begin to spread communism due to the Soviet Union s involvement. A goal of
this war for the United States was to keep the communists from North Korea north

A Study Of Public Administration
Since Woodrow Wilson (1889) published the article, a study of public administration , the main
question in the field of public administration is how to govern a democratic and political entity. Given
public administration conventionally concerns about civil servants and agencies in the executive
branch, one among diverse and essential subfields is bureaucracy and organizational theory. In
general, the development of studies on bureaucracy and organizational theory has gone through the
period of classical theory to modern theory, and from modern theory to the advent of post modernism
and post positivism. After historically reviewing the growth of knowledge on this subfield, forces
behind the progress are the product of countless and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But with respect to the mean to this end, while the Federalist prefers centralized executive powers, the
anti Federalist go another way suggested by communitarianism.
In terms of organizational theories, there are at least two main streams at that time can be identified.
The first is managerialism, including scientific management and human relation school. Basically,
both focused on management strategies. Nevertheless, one focused on principles of management for
formal organizations, the other cares more about psychological status and informal organizations. For
scientific management, the founding father is Frederick Taylors (1912) who employed scientific
methods, like natural science, to measure working loadings and should be working times for
increasing efficiency and developing a fair payments systems. Under his guidance, Gulick (1937) and
Urwick (1945) make efforts to propose several principles of organizational operations and design. The
most famous one would be POSDCORB introduced by Gulick. On the other hand, Elton Mayor
(1930), as conducting the Hawthorne experiment, found the benign presence of researchers would
boost productivities, instead of changes in facilities in factories. Chester Barnard (1938) argued that
organizations are cooperative system maintaining the dynamic balances between the needs of the
organization and its employees. With respect to the need of employees, Maslow came up with the need

The Social Responsibility Of Corporations Essay
Abstract
This paper explores the importance of social responsibility within corporations. This paper also
explores The Social Responsibility of Business is to Increase its Profits by Milton Friedman and his
stance on social responsibility. Friedman believed that corporations should not waste money on new
initiatives if it was just to appease the public, especially if it went above what laws required. Examples
are shown how corporations must listen to the customer or it could hurt the profitability of the
corporation, with social media being a big tool to press issues. Also discussed are laws that support
socially responsible initiatives such as pollution reduction that direct and provide incentives for
businesses. Keywords: Milton Friedman, The Social Responsibility of Business is to Increase its
Profits, social media, social responsibility, Smuckers, GMO, genetically modified organisms, The
Pollution Prevention Act of 1990
The Goal of the Firm
According to Investopedia, Milton Friedman was an American economist and statistician known for
his strong beliefs in free market capitalism. Friedman was also opposed to any government ran
programs that regulated policy that was used for the purpose of fueling business activity and
employment. In 1970, Friedman wrote an article labeled The Social Responsibility of Business is to
Increase its Profits . The basic premise of the article was to argue that business should not worry about

Orbital Cellulitis Essay
ORBITAL CELLULITIS
Description
Suppurative inflammation of adipose and soft tissues of orbit is termed as orbital cellulitis. It occurs
more frequently in children than adults. Orbital cellulitis and preseptal cellulitis are the major
infections of the ocular adnexal and orbital tissues. Orbital cellulitis is an infection of the soft tissues
of the orbit posterior to the orbital septum, differentiating it from preseptal cellulitis, which is an
infection of the soft tissue of the eyelids and periocular region anterior to the orbital septum.
CAUSES
Orbital cellulitis can be caused by

Quit Piano Lesson
Response: Most kids don t quit piano after six years of lessons. I did. After six year of lessons, forced
practices, time, and money, I made the big decision a year and a half ago to quit piano and cello and
start violin. The piano was there as long as I could imagine, and after six years of playing that
monster, you don t quit, it s just not practical. The cello came in when I was 10, I was small at that
time, a little over 4 feet, and after 3 years of practice and hard work, you don t give up. Cramped,
constricted, confined, in my state of mind these two instruments made me feel that I lost my freedom,
my body frozen, only able to move my fingers and my hands, and nothing more. Yet I played both,

President Richard Nixon s Resignation In The United States
President Richard Nixon did several things while in office that eventually led to his resignation in
1974. The most significant is that he plotted to wiretap and steal from different offices and other
spaces to gather information to help lead to re election and he also tried to cover up and lie about the
scandal when it all unfolded. 1) Nixon created a special investigative unit known as the plumbers to
gather information... (Foner, GML, 1031). These plumbers were all former employees for the CIA,
which later led the FBI to believe that the break ins where operated by the CIA. When the scandal
broke, the uncovered White House tapes also led to his resignation. 2) He was heard saying on the

Women s Rights are Humans Rights. Clinton is widely known as the democratic candidate running in
the 2016 presidential election, but previously was known for delivering her powerful women s rights
speeches all over the globe. This address was given in Beijing, the capital of China, on September 5,

Being invited by the secretary general of the United Nations makes her credibility appear stronger,
because it is an honor to be invited by someone of such importance to a national organization. She
also states, Tomorrow, I will attend a gathering of the United Nations Development Fund for women,
(Clinton). Again being invited by the UN. Clinton s expertise on the topic also helps her credibility.
Clinton states, Over the past 25 years, I have worked persistently on issues relating to women,
children, and families. Her providing the amount of time she has worked with women s rights and that
she has worked continuously on these issues makes her more credible. Being a woman provides
enough credibility to be able to speak on the rights of women, but traveling to other countries and
seeing how their women are treated contributes a proper understanding of how dire the situation truly
is.
A final element which makes this speech effective is the use of style. Towards the middle of Clinton s
speech, she is talking about the violation of human rights. She begins seven sentences with It is a
violation of human rights... and using this phrase provides power for her statements:
It is a violation of human rights when babies are denied food...

Causes And Effects Of Sexual Harassment
Everyone thinks that Sexual Harassment is infrequent, but speaking from experience it can happen at
anytime , any day , and any age. I was sexually harassed at the age of 11, and I was so terrified even
now it makes my skin crawl. I wish I would have reported it or spoke up, but instead I lived with the
self condemnation , shame, and thoughts in my head. Although people do not think much of Sexual
Harassment it occurs too often, and its effects may last a lifetime on all victims whether female, male,
teen, child, adult, or elder. The effects can range from depression to suicide; however, help is available
for coping. First of all Suicide yes, suicideit s a very touchy subject for most people, but sexual
Harassment can play a role in it. Suicide is a major effect and the most common effect of sexual
harassment victims. A study found that 23 percent of students had experienced at least one incident of
unwanted sexual touching, sexual threats or remarks, or indecent exposure in the past six months. Of
women who had experienced frequent, unwanted sexual touching, 15 percent said they had made
suicide attempts often in the past six months, compared with 2 percent of students that had not
experienced sexual harassment.(Rettner) An astonishing 15%, and most of them were under the age of
25. Sexual harassment can raise the numbers on suicide statistics and can affect the way that
individual views life and sees people. It can even affect the victim s loved ones if that

precipitation is pretty low, ranging from 1.5 inches(38mm) per year in the west to 0.4 inch (10mm)

latitude of the Tropic of Cancer, it receives much sun radiation, so the air is heated and rise.
Approaching the mid latitude around 39° N, air descends, and subtropical high pressure belt results.
That is to say, high pressure brings considerable sunshine, hot summer weather, and very little

important these programs are. The kindness I was shown is astonishing, and being shown this

and I got there, we spent some time with the kids that showed up while the kitchen was getting ready
for the meal. We brought them coloring books, crayons, colored pencils, puzzles, and checkers. I sat
across from a little boy who kept almost falling asleep. His grandma explained to me that he does not
usually act this way. He is usually a ball of energy who bounces off the walls, but that day he did not
have the energy because he was hungry. No matter how hard I tried to distract him with coloring or
even a conversation, he could not stop thinking about how hungry he was. It made me really sad to
think that someone s hunger could be so bad that they cannot do anything. Food is a necessity, and
being deprived of it can make you feel less human. I hate that in this rich, industrialized nation, there
are severe problems. We need to focus on ending hunger in America, and places like St. Pats will help
do that. We need to support these programs and expand them to reach all of the hunger insecure. By
building upon these programs, we Ohioans

True starfish are classified in the Asteroidea, a group of echinoderms. True starfish have no sharp
demarcation between arms and central body, and they move using tube feet rather than wriggling

Ordovician. Most starfish are predators, feeding on sessile or slow moving prey such as mollusks and

Whether the issue is a continuing problem of significant...
Whether the issue is a continuing problem of significant importance to society, or a relatively new and
unheard of phenomenon, public attention and activism tends to follow similar patterns of cycling
attitudes and behaviors. As Anthony Downs explains in an article written more than 30 years ago,
issues regarding the environment tend to suddenly leap into prominence, remain there for a short time,
and then gradually fade from the center of public attention. He calls this process the issue attention
cycle, one of the most intriguing theories regarding environmental public opinion. Even though this
article was written in the 1970 s, Downs theory contains crucial insight into what is currently
happening with public opinion about the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The next two stages highlight the decline of interest within environmental issues, resulting in an
immense decline in euphoric enthusiasm. Thus, the third stage of the issue attention cycle is realizing
the cost of significant progress. This entails the spread of a gradual realization that the cost of solving
the problem is much higher than originally expected. More specifically, it would take a great deal of
money and resources, as well as major sacrifices by large groups in the population. This results in a
realization by the public that the problem is usually a direct result from some extremely beneficial
aspect of their lives. For example, smog and air pollution can be a result from the increased use of
cars, so not only would cutting down on how often one drives a car decrease this pollution, but would
also decrease in the advantages that owning a car contains. For some people, sacrificing these
advantages comes as no easy task, and most don t want to sacrifice at all.
Hence, and as Downs so succinctly puts it, the previous stage almost imperceptibly transforms into the
fourth stage; the gradual decline of intense public interest. Essentially, and as more and more people
realize the difficulties and time

Metaphors Analysis in Sylvia Plath s Poem Essay
Metaphors Analysis in Sylvia Plath s Poem
In Sylvia Plath s poem, Metaphors, she uses striking imagery to explore her ambivalent attitudes about
pregnancy. For example, she uses a negative metaphor saying she is an elephant, meaning she thinks
that she has become very fat since she got pregnant. On the other hand, she uses a positive metaphor
saying the baby is precious, meaning although pregnancy has its down sides it has got a few good
sides like the baby.

Also, the words strolling and tendrils give the reader an image of a woman, who s really obese, who
has small legs that you can hardly see, plus she can t walk properly because she is weighed down by
all her fat and they might collapse at any second.
In the first three lines the feeling is very negative, yet in line four the feeling becomes much more
positive because she starts talking about her baby. When the narrator says O red fruit she is saying that
the baby is really precious to her like a red fruit. Also, the narrator says the baby is like ivory which is
very precious and it s a light material. It is elephant s tusks as well; this is a very effective image
because she compares herself to an elephant so the baby is like her tusks. And fine timbers is like the
baby s structure because it is very fragile.
In the fifth line the mood changes yet again to negative because the narrator starts talking abut herself
more. When she says this loaf s big with its yeasty rising the reader gets an image of her stomach
growing bigger and bigger without stopping like yeast in a loaf of bread.
In line six the narrator says money s new minted in this fat purse , the start of the sentence, which is a
positive metaphor, she is saying that the baby is brand new, important and that it is precious like
money. In contrast, fat purse is a negative metaphor because

Restitution Self-Discipline And The Least Coercive Road
Within the classroom it is important to set a rapport with the students by acting professionally and
regulating our emotions in a way that will facilitate a positive classroom atmosphere. By setting
classroom limits firmly, with respect and consistency, it allows us to accept the inevitable ambiguity

empathy and sensitivity towards the students, it will serve to strengthen teacher student relationships,
as well as the classroom climate and management (Pianta, La Paro, Payne, Cox, Bradley, 2002 as cited

Asbestos and Its Effects on Human Health
I. Introduction
Asbestos refers to a group of minerals that take the form of thin crystal fibers. Asbestos has a history
of being mined for its physical properties that made it well suited for use in the construction and
automobile industries. There are six known types of asbestos that can be found in the environment, all
with similar and different properties. These types are referred to as chrysotile, amosite, crocidolite
tremolite, actinolite, and anthophyllite Scientific research in recent decades has revealed toxicity
associated with exposure in all types. Numerous major health organizations have agreed on the
carcinogenicity of the mineral leading to strict regulations of its use.
The Greeks who discovered it referred to it as inextinguishable and indestructible. History reveals that
Romans had used asbestos and made connections to exposure and health concerns. Large scale mining
of the mineral began in the 1800s and was heavily used until recent decades. Around the beginning of
the 1900s, serious medical exploration of asbestos began and started to become a well known job
hazard. By the 1970s, long term effects of exposure were undeniable (Barbalace 2004).
Since then, a significant decrease in the consumption of asbestos products has been seen, especially in
the United States. Increased knowledge of the potential dangers of the mineral has lead people to fear
asbestos creating a need for suitable alternatives (Toxicological 2001).

considerable geothermal assets its area gives, especially in the Assal fracture.
Continuous investigation work since the 1970s has distinguished an aggregate of 13 potential
geothermal destinations, including the caldera Assal Fiale, Hanle Garabbayis, North Goubet and
Gaggade. Generally speaking, the nation s geothermal vitality potential is evaluated at 1000 MW, as
per Djibouti s Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources (Ministère de l énergie chargé des ressources
naturelles, MERN).
Regardless of its noteworthy potential, the nation just as of late started genuine endeavors at creating
geothermal sources, with the dispatch in mid 2013 of the Geothermal Power Generation venture in the
Assal Rift. Driven by the World Bank, the undertaking involves a first period of exploratory work at
an aggregate cost of $31.2m, financed by seven benefactors, including the

Health Care, Environmental Hazards, And Building Trust...
Step 1: Gather information and identify preliminary issues.
In this case, the most important issues are inadequate access to health care, environmental hazards,
behavioral risk factors, and building trust with the Narragansett community. The first three issues are
important because they directly affect the health of the Native American population. Additionally,
building trust with the Narragansett tribe in order to perform research and collaborative planning is the
key to designing successful care programs specifically for the Narragansett Indian Tribe. The first key
issue is regarding Native Americans insufficient access to health care. With the percentage of
unemployment within the Native American population in Rhode Island as high as 26 percent (The
Office of Minority Health, 2015), one third of Native American adults said there was a time in the past
year when they could not afford to see a doctor (Parrish, 2012). There is not many people from the
tribe can afford health access due to the fact that 42.2 percent of the Native American population is
living in poverty (The Office of Minority Health, 2015). Aside from inadequate access to health care,
some of the environmental health hazards that Native Americans are often exposed to include surface
and groundwater pollution, air pollution, hazardous waste, highway run off, illegal dumping, lead
paint, radon, and biological and chemical contamination of drinking water (Parrish, 2012). According

Ethical and Legal Concerns for Emergency Room Physicians...
There are unique ethical and legal obligations of the Emergency Room Physician. Commonly faced
issues include patient dumping , organ donation, and Do Not Resuscitate orders. These issues have
ethical and legal considerations for the Emergency Room Physician in regards to their responsibilities
and actions.
The ethical right for individuals to have access to health care already has a form of legal binding
within the United States as seen in the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act. In 1986,
Congress passed the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA), which forbids
Medicare participating hospitals from dumping patients out of emergency departments (Pozgar, 2010,
p. 221). The act provides that:
In the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because of the EMTALA, therefore, much more than emergency room care is provided regardless of
ability to pay (Menzel, 2011, p. 84).
Hospitals are not only required to care for emergency patients, but they also are required to do so in a
timely fashion (Pozgar, 2010, p. 272). Hospitals are expected to notify specialty on call physicians
when their particular skills are required in the emergency department. An on call physician who fails
to respond to a request to attend a patient can be liable for injuries suffered by the patient because of
his or her failure to respond (Pozgar, 2010, p. 271). Under the doctrine of Respondeat Superior,
hospitals are also liable for the actions of physicians working or on call in their emergency
department.
The need for organ donations creates another ethical dilemma for Emergency Room Physicians.
Obtaining organs from emergency room patients has long been considered off limits in the United
States because of ethical and logistical concerns (Stein, 2010). The shortage of organs available for
transplant has caused many patients die while waiting. A pilot project from the federal government has
begun promoting an alternative that involves surgeons taking organs, within minutes, from patients
whose hearts have stopped beating but who have not been declared brain dead (Stein, 2010). The

Mujers Fibres Research Paper
The anarchist/women s rights organization Mujeres Libres was a pioneering force in the egalitarian
movement. The organization faced much backlash during its existence solely because it was an
organization of anarchist women during a time when patriarchy and nationalism were the dominating
norms. Therefore, the group had to overcome many obstacles put in place by Spanish society to prove
themselves as both a women s rights and an anarchist organization. Mujeres Libres used this unique
intersection between anarchism and women s rights to bring a distinctive and specialized approach to
equality that proved to be effective for giving a voice to silenced anarchist women.
Though political fluctuation was abundant in early 1900s Spain, one constant within the society was
its predominantly patriarchal nature. It was a society in which power was not associated with women,
because women were not viewed as equals to men. Consequently, women lived very restricted lives;
their place was limited to the household and their was worth determined by whether or not they were
married or by how submissive they acted towards men. Because of the society s expectations that
women should assume roles within the home, there was a vast discrepancy between the educational
levels of men and women. Higher education was exceedingly rare among Spanish women and female
illiteracy rates reached nearly 70%. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Examples Of Narcissism In The Fountainhead
The Fountainhead, Who s the happiest? In The Fountainhead, we see Rand s main character, Howard
Roark, and his ensemble of supporting characters go through different forms of what is known as
rational objectivism and it s antithesis, more specifically, egoism, altruism, and narcissism. In Aristotle
s Proud Man, we see characteristics of narcissism in the type of proud man Aristotle describes, most
specifically that a proud man thinks himself to be, and is, worthy of great things. However, these
people are also quick to show hatred, which certainly doesn t fit the idea of happiness. In The
Fountainhead we see both Roark and Dominique, good representations of both Egoism and altruism.
In order to judge who of the three types is the most productive and happiest, one could be best suited

Other Changes
It is important to remember that a will or an estate plan is a living document which is meant to change

Drugs can be a highway to cool psychedelic trips or a lifetime of addiction, there is no in between.
More so, there s no fine line that separates these two situations and the jump from better to worse can
only take one more hit of that drug. The illicit use of drugs is not always done with bad intentions; in
the case of illegal study drugs use, most students use these drugs because they feel as if it aids them in
focusing on their assignments. The illegal use of study drugs by college students can lead to dangerous
consequences such as overdoses, addiction, and even death. To prevent further damage to these
individuals information regarding the safety and side effects of study drugs from the government

The Importance Of Alcohol Advertisements
In the world of media, companies love to brand their products through advertisements. Companies use
radio broadcasts, billboards, television and in apps online. One of the biggest industries in Australia
and in Brisbane, Queensland is Alcohol. The most common way alcohol is advertised is through
television and a big danger is that anyone can see this advertisement. This often leaves lasting
impressions on people. It often hard to avoid seeing these advertisements being that they are at train
stations, on busses, at gas stations, at local pubs, and all over radio and television. Australians love
cracking a cold one, it has become a part of the Australian culture for more than a decade now.
Alcohol advertisements have become as popular as throwing shrimp on the barbie. Alcohol
advertisements need to be banned in Australia because of the increasing numbers in underage drinking
alcohol related diseases and deaths.
Brisbane needs to ban the promotion of alcohol advertisements because of the increasing number in
underage drinking. Underage drinking has become a serious dilemma in Brisbane over the past
decade. Teens as young as 13 years old are getting their hands on alcohol and are abusing it. This
abuse to young teens is detrimental to them physically, they can have serious physical effects ranging
from disruption of physical growth, trauma to the brain or death. Alcohol consumption underage not

Rhetorical Analysis Of The Children s Era
The Children s Era by Margaret Sanger: A Rhetorical Analysis
Founder of Planned Parenthood, Margaret Sanger, in her speech at the 1925 birth control conference,
The Children s Era, explains the downfalls in American society when it comes to raising children.
Through this speech, Sanger is trying to further promote her nonprofit organization and display the
benefits of birth control. She appears to show compassionate characteristics towards children, more
specifically the future American children, as she adopts an urgent tone to encompass her listeners into
her ultimate goal, widespread, effective birth control methods.
Rhetorical questions are key in Sanger s speech as not all those at the conference completely agree
with Sanger s stance on birth control. There are undoubtedly people in the crowd and at the conference
for the sheer purpose of disagreeing with her and her colleagues. She stays on top of their rebuttals
with a barrage of rhetorical questions. Not only does she use rhetorical questions to address counter
arguments, but Sanger also uses questions like Why has so little been accomplished? in spite of all our
acknowledged love of children, all our generosity, all our good will, all the enormous spending of
millions on philanthropy and charities, all our warm hearted sentiment, all our incessant activity and
social consciousness? Why? to instill into her listeners minds the idea that even after all of these
efforts, the children s lives must still be made

Faden Vs Disney Essay
The purpose of copyright law is to protect a creator and their original work from being used without
appropriate reasoning falling under fair use, as well as being used without permission from the creator.
Fair use can be defined as a doctrine that allows portions of a copyrighted work to be used without the
creator s permission as long as it is only for commentary, parody, criticization, or educational
purposes.
In the fictional case of Professor Faden versus Walt Disney Studios, I have decided to take the side of
Professor Faden. Professor Faden claims fair use in this case. He claims the purpose of his video,
containing small portions of Disney s copyrighted movies, to be a display of education and remix.
Those two, do, in fact, fall under ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To determine a case of fair use, all of those factors must be taken into consideration before the judge
may make a final ruling.
When looking into the first factor of fair use, purpose and character used, Faden states his point that
his video is used for educational purposes. When you actually go back and watch the video for
yourself, you see immediately that the video is clearly made in good character with good intentions, as
well as that the nature of the work is educationally based, which brings us to the second factor in
determining the fair use of a copyright case.
The second factor in the determination of fair use is indeed the nature of the copyrighted work, as
mentioned previously. As Professor Fade stated, the nature of his video was for educational purposes,
which can be observed rather obviously. He also stated that his video could fall into the category of
remix. A remix is a new version or rendition of a previously existing work, most common in the music
industry. Professor Faden s Fair(y) Use Tale, may comprehensively be seen to be a remix, proving to
obey the second factor of fair use

Ralph Waldo Emerson s Nature
In Ralph Waldo Emerson s Nature and my own personal experiences, we both discover the sublime in
moments of silence and engagement with nature. These events in which we cannot fully describe in
words but just appreciate the beauty are the sublime, and nature, which Emerson and I encounter,
operates as an extension of God. In the beginning of Nature, Emerson demands that people find their
own relationship with the universe, and I never really had a personal encounter with God even though

He enjoys the surrounding landscape and exchange with God: My head bathed by the blithe air and
uplifted into infinite space, all mean egotism vanishes. I have become a transparent eye ball. I am
nothing. I see all (Emerson 511). Emerson does not talk or allow himself to lose focus of the beauty
surrounding him. Instead, he turns into a transparent eye ball and experiences the sublime by
permitting nature to trigger an emotional response in him. In a similar experience in middle school,
my teacher told the class that the relic of the True Cross was coming to our school. When the class
headed over to the chapel, I developed a plan of saying my memorized prayers. As soon as I kneeled
in front of the relic, I found myself at a loss for words and felt an intimate connection with God.
Throughout my whole experience with the Cross, I remained silent and did not feel distracted by the
many people in the room with me. I realize now that this sublime connection with God developed a
truth within me that silence and listening to nature s responses to me were the best way to pray for me
and to clear my mind of stress. Both Emerson and my points about silence do not mean that everyone
should pray and reflect without words but rather to discover one s personal truth by clearing his or her
mind of distractions. This experience created my freedom a removal of distant, indifferent words to
me and a creation of peace and beautiful reflection in

  • 2. Vascular Hyperpermeability Case Study Vascular hyperpermeability is a causative factor in several disease states including ALI (39). Although primarily produced in the liver, we observed that the murine pulmonary vasculature also expresses the extracellular serine protease, HABP2 (36). Therefore, we silenced HABP2 expression in the pulmonary vasculature and observed that it attenuated LPS and VILI induced pulmonary vascular leak (36). Since HABP2 is upregulated in ALI, this study examined the functional consequences of HABP2 overexpression and the endogenous inhibitor(s) of HABP2 during ALI. Reports indicate that the extracellular serine protease inhibitor, C1INH, can effectively bind HABP2 in the blood (27). We therefore examined whether C1INH can colocalize with HABP2 in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We grew HLMVEC to confluency, changed to 2% media and added either control or 100 ng/ml C1INH one hour prior to the addition of control, 100 ng/ml purified endothelial HABP2, 1 ug/ml LPS or 100 nM LMW HA (which we have previously demonstrated can activate HABP2 protease activity (36)) for 15 minutes. Cells were solublized and the ratio of pSer536 p65 NF kB to total p65 NF kB was quantitated using an ELISA kit (Abcam). Figure 2 A indicates that preincubation with C1INH inhibited HABP2, LPS and LMW HA mediated NF kB activation. LMW HA was inhibited the least likely due to the fact that it can also bind CD44v10 and TLR4 (41). We and others have previously shown that HABP2, LPS and LMW HA can activate the small G protein, RhoA, in EC (36, 39, 41 44). Using the same experimental setup at Figure 2 A, Figure 2 B indicates that preincubation with C1INH inhibited HABP2, LPS and LMW HA mediated RhoA activation. LMW HA was inhibited the least likely due to reasons stated above. Finally, Figure 2 C indicates that C1INH moderates EC barrier function. Specifically, pretreatment of HPMVEC monolayers with C1INH (100 ng/ml, 1 hour) attenuated LPS, LWM HA and purified HABP2 mediated EC barrier disruption while slightly (but significantly) augmenting HMW HA mediated EC barrier enhancement. We next switched our focus to an in vivo model of LPS induced ALI. Figure 3 A indicates that, in a murine model of control (no LPS) or ALI using intratracheal administration of LPS followed by lung ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. King Kong Cultural Differences The cultural differences represented in King Kong (1933) and King Kong (2005) In the original, Bruce Cabot portrays Jack Driscoll who is the first mate of The Venture, the ship that Carl Denham hires to sail to Skull Skull Island to film a feature film. Driscoll is the hero that, upon falling in love with Fay Wray s Ann Darrow, He is the one most determined to save Ann Darrow after she is sacrificed too Kong. 33 s Driscoll is honorable, courageous, and strong, all these virtues are all represented through driscolls ruggedness. While he is a man of few words, the Jack Driscoll of the 1933 says what he means no matter whom he might offend, whether he is referring to the ritualistic practices of Skull Island s natives as evil, explaining to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... it is a decent remake that gets too bogged down in Peter Jackson s need to give some characters more story and screen time than they need. seeing the original King Kong , the 1933 version of Kong , which is saw when I was nine. And I remember that weekend I made plasticine dinosaurs and started to try to do some stop motion animation with my little Super 8 camera. (Stratton, 2005) when Kong is chained up in the Manhattan theater for public display, Denham creates a deformed version of the 3 hour film where native performers wear the native costumes from the original film, even duplicating the sacrificial ritual. This way, Jackson gets to almost satirically acknowledge the racist and sexist attitudes that were prevalent in 1933 America, without giving these ideas legitimacy them and offending modern viewers. But there s more to it than that. Jackson wanted his film to be faithful in as many ways as he could, he found ways to get the more homage to his favorite film by faithfully recreating moments and cues within a creative context. While recreating the sacrifice the orchestral piece that Max Steiner made for the 33 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The novel shows life in a utopia where there is advanced reproductive technology, class conditioning and sleep learning. Everyone is happy in Brave New World and if they start to become unhappy, they can take a drug called soma. Henry Ford is considered the God. In the World State there are no parents everyone is created in a test tube. They are raised in the Central London Hatchery until they can survive on their own and then they get their job and go into the world. Everyone is conditioned to be in a certain caste and do certain job. The castes are Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, or Epsilon. Alphas are conditioned to be leaders and attractive. Each caste you go down is less attractive and intellectual. The Epsilon are conditioned to do harshest jobs and are deprived of oxygen as embryos, therefore they are not very smart. At the hatchery they use hypnopaedic which is sleep teaching, so the children will learn the morals of the World State. There is no aging in this world, they all take pills to keep them young and once they reach a certain age they die. In Brave New World, it is seen odd to have real relationships with people. This was the start of the Korean War when close to 750,000 North Korean soldiers crossed the 38th parallel and entered South Korea. North Korea had been Communist and ruled by Ho Chi Minh while South Korea was not communist and were being ruled by Ngo Dinh Diem, who was a very harsh, cruel leader who killed many of his own people. However, the United States supported South Korea because they were against communist and was trying to practice their policy of containment. A Study Of Public Administration Since Woodrow Wilson (1889) published the article, a study of public administration , the main question in the field of public administration is how to govern a democratic and political entity. Given public administration conventionally concerns about civil servants and agencies in the executive branch, one among diverse and essential subfields is bureaucracy and organizational theory. In general, the development of studies on bureaucracy and organizational theory has gone through the period of classical theory to modern theory, and from modern theory to the advent of post modernism and post positivism. The next two stages highlight the decline of interest within environmental issues, resulting in an immense decline in euphoric enthusiasm. Thus, the third stage of the issue attention cycle is realizing the cost of significant progress. This entails the spread of a gradual realization that the cost of solving the problem is much higher than originally expected. More specifically, it would take a great deal of money and resources, as well as major sacrifices by large groups in the population. This results in a realization by the public that the problem is usually a direct result from some extremely beneficial aspect of their lives. For example, smog and air pollution can be a result from the increased use of cars, so not only would cutting down on how often one drives a car decrease this pollution, but would also decrease in the advantages that owning a car contains. For some people, sacrificing these advantages comes as no easy task, and most don t want to sacrifice at all. Additionally, building trust with the Narragansett tribe in order to perform research and collaborative planning is the key to designing successful care programs specifically for the Narragansett Indian Tribe. Hospitals are expected to notify specialty on call physicians when their particular skills are required in the emergency department. The need for organ donations creates another ethical dilemma for Emergency Room Physicians. The shortage of organs available for transplant has caused many patients die while waiting. The organization faced much backlash during its existence solely because it was an organization of anarchist women during a time when patriarchy and nationalism were the dominating norms. It was a society in which power was not associated with women, because women were not viewed as equals to men. • 34. Rhetorical Analysis Of The Children s Era The Children s Era by Margaret Sanger: A Rhetorical Analysis Founder of Planned Parenthood, Margaret Sanger, in her speech at the 1925 birth control conference, The Children s Era, explains the downfalls in American society when it comes to raising children. Through this speech, Sanger is trying to further promote her nonprofit organization and display the benefits of birth control. She appears to show compassionate characteristics towards children, more specifically the future American children, as she adopts an urgent tone to encompass her listeners into her ultimate goal, widespread, effective birth control methods. Rhetorical questions are key in Sanger s speech as not all those at the conference completely agree with Sanger s stance on birth control. There are undoubtedly people in the crowd and at the conference for the sheer purpose of disagreeing with her and her colleagues. She stays on top of their rebuttals with a barrage of rhetorical questions. Not only does she use rhetorical questions to address counter arguments, but Sanger also uses questions like Why has so little been accomplished? in spite of all our acknowledged love of children, all our generosity, all our good will, all the enormous spending of millions on philanthropy and charities, all our warm hearted sentiment, all our incessant activity and social consciousness? Why? to instill into her listeners minds the idea that even after all of these efforts, the children s lives must still be made ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Faden Vs Disney Essay The purpose of copyright law is to protect a creator and their original work from being used without appropriate reasoning falling under fair use, as well as being used without permission from the creator. Fair use can be defined as a doctrine that allows portions of a copyrighted work to be used without the creator s permission as long as it is only for commentary, parody, criticization, or educational purposes. In the fictional case of Professor Faden versus Walt Disney Studios, I have decided to take the side of Professor Faden. Professor Faden claims fair use in this case. He claims the purpose of his video, containing small portions of Disney s copyrighted movies, to be a display of education and remix. Those two, do, in fact, fall under ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To determine a case of fair use, all of those factors must be taken into consideration before the judge may make a final ruling. When looking into the first factor of fair use, purpose and character used, Faden states his point that his video is used for educational purposes. When you actually go back and watch the video for yourself, you see immediately that the video is clearly made in good character with good intentions, as well as that the nature of the work is educationally based, which brings us to the second factor in determining the fair use of a copyright case. The second factor in the determination of fair use is indeed the nature of the copyrighted work, as mentioned previously. As Professor Fade stated, the nature of his video was for educational purposes, which can be observed rather obviously. He also stated that his video could fall into the category of remix. A remix is a new version or rendition of a previously existing work, most common in the music industry. Professor Faden s Fair(y) Use Tale, may comprehensively be seen to be a remix, proving to obey the second factor of fair use ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Ralph Waldo Emerson s Nature In Ralph Waldo Emerson s Nature and my own personal experiences, we both discover the sublime in moments of silence and engagement with nature. These events in which we cannot fully describe in words but just appreciate the beauty are the sublime, and nature, which Emerson and I encounter, operates as an extension of God. In the beginning of Nature, Emerson demands that people find their own relationship with the universe, and I never really had a personal encounter with God even though I went to Catholic school my whole life. As Emerson progresses to his thesis and depicts his enjoyment of nature through silence, I remembered my experience with the relic of the True Cross and how my mind became silent and thoughtless. He enjoys the surrounding landscape and exchange with God: My head bathed by the blithe air and uplifted into infinite space, all mean egotism vanishes. I have become a transparent eye ball. I am nothing. I see all (Emerson 511). Emerson does not talk or allow himself to lose focus of the beauty surrounding him. Instead, he turns into a transparent eye ball and experiences the sublime by permitting nature to trigger an emotional response in him. In a similar experience in middle school, my teacher told the class that the relic of the True Cross was coming to our school. When the class headed over to the chapel, I developed a plan of saying my memorized prayers. As soon as I kneeled in front of the relic, I found myself at a loss for words and felt an intimate connection with God. Throughout my whole experience with the Cross, I remained silent and did not feel distracted by the many people in the room with me. I realize now that this sublime connection with God developed a truth within me that silence and listening to nature s responses to me were the best way to pray for me and to clear my mind of stress. Both Emerson and my points about silence do not mean that everyone should pray and reflect without words but rather to discover one s personal truth by clearing his or her mind of distractions. This experience created my freedom a removal of distant, indifferent words to me and a creation of peace and beautiful reflection in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
