Costco Inventory Management
Costco s inventory management strategy focuses on three main points: (a) point of sales system
(POS), (b) vendor managed inventory and (c) low volume of stock keeping units. Costco takes aid
from innovative inventory system that provides real time inventory information called Collaborative
Retail Exchange (CRX). The system monitors and re orders at the optimum inventory as part of the
continuous re order system. The CRX system analyses the sales for the previous weeks and inventory
level which acts as information to the suppliers. Costco Wholesale follows a Bulk buying strategy. It
aims at selling products in large volume and comparatively low prices. The company also follows
lower number of stock keeping units (SKU s), an average of ~4,000 ... Show more content on

Walmart s approach means frequent, informal cooperation among stores, distribution centres and
suppliers and less centralized control. The company s supply chain allowed consumers to effectively
pull merchandise to stores rather than having the company push goods onto shelves by tracking
customer purchases and demand. Through the use of universal product codes, implementation of
Retail links at the store, use of RFIDs and smart tags, suppliers and manufacturers within the supply
chain synchronize their demand forecaste under a collaborative planning, forecasting and
replenishment scheme, and every link in the chain was connected through technology that includes a
central database, store level point of sale systems, and a satellite network. As per report, there was a
16% reduction in out of stocks with the use of RFIDs and pointed out that the products using an
electronic product code were replenished three times as fast as items that only used bar code
technology. These strategies have made Walmart to be the dominant force over other competitors with

My High School Science Projects
Machines are on a fast paced evolutionary track that renders them indispensable to the progress of
mankind. One such machine that has made great strides in the last century is the automobile. Mobility
has always been my area of fascination; the working of a simple bicycle to the advanced Formula One
car has always made me curious.
During my high school studies I was a student of science and mathematics, both these subjects helped
me in unraveling the mysteries of nature by better understanding principles that govern its working. I
have participated in several school and inter school science projects, one such project that left lasting
impression was that of a study on gear mechanism used in various tools, fascinated by the same I was
on self propelled path of discovery. I am driven by asking the questions: why? and how? and this
curiosity developed into a passion for machines as a whole and led me to do an undergraduate
program in Mechanical Engineering from PVG S College of Engineering and Technology under the
prestigious University of Pune, a leading academic institution in the automotive hub of India, Pune.
The four year course exposed me to many fascinating subjects, my interest evolved as I explored
subjects like Manufacturing Process, Theory of Machines, Metallurgy, Fluid Mechanics, Machine
Design, Power Transmission System, IC engines etc. I have tried to be in tune with the latest
Mechanical technologies by attending courses offered by automotive industry itself,

Question 1a. Write a one page concise or two pages double spaced summary explaining the Federal
Reserve.
Basically, the Federal Reserve System is a banking system of the United States. It was created in
1913, with the enactment of the Federal reserve Act (2014). There are many responsibilities the
Federal Reserves has which include, supervision and regulation, monetary policy, payment services
and finally the financial stability. President Woodrow Wilson signed the Federal Reserve Act, into a
law. There are also many events that led up to the signing of the Federal Reserve Act that stuck out to
me.
The money and banking systems weren t the same in Colonial America. Colonial banks were not
allowed to accept deposits from the public or make loans. Instead, they issued paper currency backed
by metals and goals. Colonists were also limited to using bartering, European coinage as their primary
means of exchange. The legislation created a uniform national currency and permitted only nationally
chartered banks to issue bank notes (2014).
There was a period of a free banking era. There was a huge need for a reliable banking system during
the civil war. Many banks did not keep enough money on hand to meet the normal demands. People
lost their confidence in the banks and then began to go take their money out. This triggered a
succession of bank failures. The Federal Reserve System had a severe financial crisis, in

The s Theory Of The Tripartite Soul And Sigmund Freud s...
Moral Compass
Navigation helps individuals arrive to a given destination, but the human life also requires of such
navigation. Some individuals unconsciously seek directions when challenged with a given issue and
know which way to steer because of their moral compass. Furthermore, the moral compass is the soul
that guides the personal self, but it is also the non material aspect of a human being that is immortal.
Although, the soul s existence is in question, there is evidence that validates that the soul is real. Such
evidence includes Plato s theory of the tripartite soul and Sigmund Freud s psychodynamic theory,
which reevaluates Plato s theory. Both theories address that the soul s existence is the personality of a
human being.
On the other hand, many critics claim that the soul does not exist since it is beyond our knowledge;
therefore we cannot demonstrate such existence. Hume a philosopher during the Enlightenment
affirms this claim under the branch of empiricism, which states that true knowledge, arises from our
five senses: touch, smell, sight, taste, and hearing. Therefore, to determine if something exists at least
one or all of the senses have to be applied since the material aspects of something demonstrates its
existence. Moreover, the reasoning behind empiricism is an addition to Hume s theory of sense
perception. The theory is composed of two elements, which are impressions and ideas. Impressions
are immediate sensations or perceptions such as touch or

Speech On The Moon Landing
In history, one of the greatest achievement known to mankind is the Apollo 11 moon landing. On July
20, 1969, the spaceflight known as the lunar module Eagle, landed the first three humans on the moon
(NASA). The first human to step, and leave a footprint on the moon was mission commander, Neil
Armstrong. Climbing down the ladder, the words that he said are still reminisced to this day, That s
one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind (NASA). The other two who were also part of
this accomplishment was the pilot, Edwin Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins.
Before this historic triumph, almost a decade before it occurred, the 35th president of the Unites
States, John F. Kennedy, on May 25, 1961, he proposed to the world the ambitious goal to put a man
on the moon before the decade if out (Logsdon 37). John F. Kennedy truly believed that it was only a
matter of time for them to make it possible since their technology was already too advanced. There has
been so much more that humans have been capable of and landing on the moon sure was going to be
one of them. As technology advances, humans are capable of so much more, such as discovering
nuclear power, the invention of the television, satellites, and computers. These have proven that the
intellectual knowledge in humans keeps expanding every single day, making it possible to make more
discoveries and accomplishments. John F. Kennedy was not able to witness such success because two
years later, after his speech, he

Persuasive Essay On The Lorax
If things keep going the way they are humans will inevitably destroy the ocean and in doing so destroy
themselves. There need to be more Loraxes. We the people need to work together to minimize and
ultimately stop the production and use of plastics. Driving down the highway, or the gravel road it
doesn t matter I look on either side of the road and what do I see; plastic debris and trash. Someone
had to have thrown it there or maybe it blew out of the back of a trash truck going by but regardless
there it sits until someone picks it up or an animal mistakes it for a meal or a home. When Dr. Suess
wrote The Lorax it was in response to deforestation if he were alive today I think he would make
another version of the Lorax however this time it would be about polluting the ocean. Riding in the
with my cousin once I watched him throw a can out of the window. I can remember getting mad at
him and asking him what he was doing and all he said was, someone else will pick it up, it s not like it
is a big deal. Well at the time I let it go and thought nothing more of it. Time continued on and when I
was in sixth grade my mom and I went to Florida as your driving on a dirt road, how about that drive
through meal bag that your spouse can t know about because you and your supposed to be eating
healthy? Or watched someone else throw that spit bottle out the window? Believe it or not things like
these examples have an impact on the world. We ve all heard the reduce, reuse, recycle but why are
people so adamant about it? Perfect examples of reasons why people do this can be seen in the ocean
ecosystems. More and more of our wastes are ending up in the ocean and harming the animals living
there. Innocent animals that just want to survive and thrive aren t getting the opportunity to try
because of trash and litter that floats and sinks in the ocean. This litter that ends up in the ocean is
consumed by many animals. There are about seven different kinds of sea turtles and the world wild
life organization is working on conservation on five of them. What s happening to all of these turtles?
Due to debris in the ocean the turtle are getting tangled in the six ring bottle or can holders and getting
them stuck around the middle so

Ashley St. Clair English 1302 Professor Beverage 31 October 2014 Sexuality A 2011 Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) survey indicates that more than 47 percent of all high school
students say they have had sex; and 15 percent of high school students have had sex with four or more
partners during their lifetime, (NCSL). In our society today sex is a very open subject and is being
observed by young adults in everyday life. Walking down the street we see half naked women
plastered on billboards and street signs, leaving nothing to the imagination and making adolescents
everywhere question why and wonder what that is. As children we are taught that abstinence before

From experience, at the age of ten I was taught by my mother that I should never engage in sex unless
I was married and ready to procreate. At the age of twelve I was sexually active. By the age of fifteen I
was pregnant with my first son and becoming a single mother at a very early age. When you are young
and curious and want to know why something is a certain way, you look for answers and research as
much as you can to get a full idea about what something is. So when children are taught that sex is bad
without given any background information to why or what it is, they tend to look deeper and start to
engage in the activities to test the water and see if what they are taught is true. Rebellion is a very
common among children and teenagers, and to be forced into believing that something is bad and
harmful for you, just to find out the truth about sex, will eventually cause a stir and up rise of many
young adults. More teens are learning sex from the media or from their friends instead of from their
parents or a sexual education class taught in schools. Nearly three fourths of television shows contains
talk about sex or show sexual behavior, (King and Regan 2). When we drive down the road we see
several stores promoting sex such as Condoms to Go, Condom Sense, Sarahs Secret, and New Fine
Arts. Children who have no clue to what these stores are, automatically want to know everything

Civil War Music
Civil War Music Music was a vital part of the war. The Civil War had also been referred to America s
great musical war. There was a rank for musicians. They played at recruitment rallies and kept up the
troops morale. Their main job was to relay orders from higher ranking officers. The branches of the
military determined which instrument made the calls. The drummer boys, fife players, buglers and the
songs that they performed played a significant part in the war. Drummer boys enlisted to serve in the
infantry. These boys were usually eighteen years old, but younger boys sometimes faked their age to
enlist. They learned to relay orders to help soldiers during battle by sounding a call, which is a short
tune with an assigned job or order. They had to go through meticulous training because they had to
make the correct calls. With the battlefields covered in gun smoke, the soldiers relied on the drummer
boys to sound the orders. If their calls were incorrect, they could confuse the soldiers or even give
them the wrong orders. In addition to this, drummer boys had to make calls in camp. Some of the
common calls were morning roll call, sick call, guard duty and taps. Being a drummer boy was only
one of the different types of musicians that had these responsibilities. Musicians that play fife,
commonly called fifers, marched alongside drums in battles. A fife is like a piccolo. It is also similar
to a flute, but it has a much higher range. The fife was useful

In cases like these, people around us would judge us right away that we are not good parents and we
do not discipline our child.
How Can I Help My Child Learn Good Behaviour? There are lot of ways how to help our kids learn
good behaviour. All we need is to understand and consider them, that they are not perfect and often
makes mistakes just like we do. Here are some suggestions:
Offer Praise and Affection Regularly. For example, my son, Andrew who is two years old at that time
had drawn a squiggly lines and web like scribbles on our white wall. After coming home exhausted
from work, he met me at the door and very proud and happy to show his drawing. Instead of being
mad, I composed myself and said, Oh that is very nice, it is like a spider web, but next time draw or
write it in a paper as I had literally gave a paper and crayons to him.
Plan Transition. Doing one activity to the next makes child anxious, we need to talk to our child so
they knew what to expect. Give our child advance warning when transitioning into another activity.
Example) Two or more minutes playing with the blocks or dolls, then its time to clean up . In this way,
they prepare themselves for the change of routine and move on to another activity.
Avoid stressful situations. Common triggers may include hunger and sleepiness, and quick change of
venues. So, plan in advance and anticipate our child schedules. Don t take our child shopping and do

Perambulatory Clauses Of Executive Order 20
Executive Order No. 20 s Content
In the preamble of Executive Order No. 20, Governor Haslam asserts that establishing,
communicating, complying with, and enforcing a comprehensive ethics policy within the Executive
Branch... essential to maintaining public trust in government and ensuring the proper performance of
government. After the perambulatory clauses, Executive Order 20 adheres very closely to the basic
format previously suggested that most state government follow. The first operative clause clarifies that
the ethics policy applies to all Executive Branch employees over 43,000 people unless otherwise
noted. The second clause discusses potential conflict of interests to avoid: using public office for
personal gain, giving preferential treatment to any individual, impeding government efficiency and
economy, losing complete independence or impartiality, making government decisions outside of
official channels, and affecting adversely the confidence of the public in integrity of government (pg.
1 2).
The third clause actually covers three somewhat disparate areas:
1. Financial Interests;
2. Use of Information; and
3. Use of Government Property.
The fourth clause governs the receipt of gifts, the exceptions thereof, and disclosure procedures.
Interestingly, the exceptions list is longer than the gift rule itself. For example gifts from immediate
family members or those with whom you have a close personal friendship are acceptable, which
seems logical.

Paul urges in 1 Corinthians 14:39 40 that speaking in tongues should not be forbidden, and be done in
order. Brand, Draper and England add in their commentary, There is no compelling reason to believe
that ecstatic utterance is the same thing as the Biblical gift of tongues. (1606). There exists no
restriction for personal prayer (1 Corinthians 14:18 19), however should not be used in public places
without an interpreter, as mentioned in 1 Corinthians 14:28. This would compromise the edifying
design for unbelievers. Much controversy has been raised over 1 Corinthians 13 and what is said to be
valid . Those negating the validity of speaking in tongues typically use 1 Corinthians 13:8 10 as the
basis for their argument. However, the verse is comparing eternal with temporal things. This is Paul s
way of emphasizing peace in abiding things (like faith, hope and love) versus division for the sake of
the tongues controversy to the church (Smith). Verse 10 also brings about the discussion of what Paul
refers to as perfect . Even though, those belonging to the Negative School argue that which is perfect
is to be the full canon of the Bible, there is nothing that suggests that the Holy Spirit will stop moving
through this gift. When moving down to verse 12, it speaks of the time that the bride of Christ shall
come face to face with her groom. Because Jesus is the personification of perfection, I believe this

Duchess also displayed her intelligence when she said, I have heard lawyers say a contract... (I.ii.387

that the Duchess was independent to get what she wanted and that she still had control over her life
even though her brothers never gave her any freedom. The Duchess also shows her bravery when she
tells, Ferdinand, For know, whether I am doomed to live or die, I can do both like a prince. Here the
Duchess reminded Ferdinand that the authority was hers and the word prince validated that authority.
Even though the play has examples of the Duchess being strong, independent, and brave and an

legalized the use and sale of marijuana to provide revenue for the state. It is anticipated that Colorado

Marijuana tax would be implemented similarly to the way taxes are imposed on alcohol and cigarettes.

From 1972 to 1983, the video game giant Atari rose and fell. It fell due to a combination of factors,
including bad tradeoffs, a surplus issue, and a deficiency in entrepreneurial ability. The Founder Nolan
Bushnell sold Atari to the wrong company, administrators tended to overestimate their game and
console demand, and finally Atari lost its founder and best programmers. With all these factors, Atari
closed it s door for the final time in 1983. When Atari was created, it started off with success in merely
arcade games, but the founder wanted more. The founder, Nolan Bushnell, along with his programmer
Al Alcorn, created the hit Pong his Atari arcade games on June 28th, 1972. With this hit, Bushnell
became ambitious, and wanted to create ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The company came out with two games that stood out as complete failures: Pac Man and E.T. Pac
Man, a popular arcade game, was to be released in 1982 for their VCS console. It was highly
anticipated, but the game did impress consumers the way they thought they would be. Atari made 12
million cartridges, but only 7 million were bought. The game that truly buried Atari was the E.T.
game. They hired Steven Spielberg to create it in six weeks, when it normally took six months to make
a game, so that the game would be on the shelves for Christmas. The game was horrific, most of the
copies were returned by both retailers and consumers. about 2.5 to 3.5 million games were left unsold,
and furthermore, 3.5 to 4.5 million games were returned. All of the copies were dumped in a New
Mexico landfill never to be played again. When Atari finally decided to make a new console, it was too
late, the console was nothing compared to the competitor s. With the surplus of games and consoles,
Atari had lost $536 million. Finally, by 1983, Atari went bankrupt. In a landfill in New Mexico, Atari s
final game still hides below a mountain of dirt. Millions of E.T. cartridges were buried, along with the
company. Due to poor decision making in the company, overproduction, and lack of programming
ability, Atari fell to its rising competitors in

Psychological Factors That Cause Offending Behavior
Since the emergence of methods, theories and practice in the late nineteen century in the laboratory of
William Wundt in Germany, Psychology as a science has evolved to apply its principles in areas such
as education, arts and law, but not limited to. Therefore, in time, psychological theories and practices
have emerged in an attempt to aid the legal process and explain those psychological factors that cause
offending behaviour. Forensic psychology applies theories and findings from different areas of
psychological expertise which are applied in the context of civil justice, criminal proceedings and
clinical settings. Forensic psychologists offer their expertise and advice in the court of law, police,
prisons, hospitals and other secure units, probation and community based services. Sexual offending is
legally defined in Sexual Offences Act 2003, Chapter 42 as being rape, assault by penetration, sexual
assault and engaging in a sexual activity with another person which does not consent or the person
does not have the age or understanding to decide if they should or should not engage in a sexual
activity at the time in question. Developing theories of sexual abuse which are empirically adequate,
consistent with other currently accepted theories, fertile whilst able to describe the deep underlying
processes and structures in an accurate, simple manner are important in terms of investigation and risk
management, policing, crime reduction, assessment and legal processes. The

Why I Became An Ame Ministry
After graduation, I searched for jobs and most of the time I froze up in the interviews. The only
interview I nailed was an interview for teaching position for Duval County School Board. Therefore, I
became a part of the teaching profession in the fall of 1998 teaching Biology, Algebra I, Physical
Science, and Chemistry in different years up until 2001. Additional, I was a science adjunct professor
for two years at Florida Community College in Jacksonville. I started the five year process of
becoming an AME ministry with my initial sermon in December of 1998 at Wayman Chapel AME
Church and my pastor was Rev. Mark L. Griffin. The church voted for me to be licensed in the
quarterly conference in January 1999. I was examined by Presiding Elder DeSue in January 1999,
examined by the District Conference in February 1999, and examined by the East Florida Conference
of the Eleventh Episcopal District of the AME Church Board of Examiners in April 1999.
Instructors advised me to attend seminary while I was attending the Board of Examiners. They
explained I would have a better understanding of scripture, God, myself, and my calling. Finally, in
October of 1999, I was admitted on trial in the Annual Conference of the East Florida Conference of
the AME Church. I entered Candler School of Theology in the fall of 2001. September 11 was soon to
follow along with the death of my stepfather. Death entered my life. I had never thought about death
being so final. I began

Princess Diana As A Speech About Celebrities
Ladies and Gentlemen, Jury and Judge, I stand before you here today to present the ways in which my
client, Princess Diana has been poorly represented in the Woman s Day magazine article posted on the
tenth of July 2017. The objective was clearly to present Diana as a killer . Through the use of codes
and conventions the audience is positions to only see her in a negative light. This is a completely false
representation, under no prosperity did my client have any intentions of killing Camilla Parker
Bowles.
Diana, Princess of Wales was known by all as the people s princess. Diana was human just like the
rest of us, but as she was Royalty meaning that media targets her as a famous person to draw in
readers. The Woman s Day Magazine has the power to manipulate aspects of Camilla s story to
portray Princess Diana as an evil person with intentions to kill using various codes and conventions.
My client is neither evil nor has intentions to kill.
Firstly, the article posted in Woman s Day has a large two page spread. The layout has a extensive
heading that stretches over the two double pages, Camilla s shocking claims Diana tried to KILL ME .
In this headline the words kill me are emphasized in all caps and are surrounded by red which can be
seen as a colour portraying blood, anger and violence, all which are not true to the Princess s
character. The journalist has clearly thought about the colours and placement of the article. The front
page piece and the bold headlines

Modern Dance, By Miriam Giguere
Contemporary dance was developed in the early 20th century as a movement against the rigid
technique of ballet (Blackfish Arts Acadamy, 2006). Using the natural lines of the body to create new
movements, the contemporary dance style usually has more fluidity than that of conventional dance
styles (Freeman, 2013). In the book Beginning Modern Dance , Miriam Giguere says The function of
dance is communication. . . . By communication is not meant to tell a story or to project an idea, but to
communicate experience by means of action . . . out of this came a different use of the body as an
instrument, as the violin is an instrument. Body is the basic instrument, intuitive, instinctive. As a
result an entirely contemporary set of technics was evolved. (Giguere, 2014).
A forerunner in the changing face of modern dance was choreographer and performer Martha Graham.
Graham took up dance at the age of 22, during the time when women were fighting for the right to
vote (Mapes, 2013). Being both shorter and older than most dancers, Graham had to use her body in a
different way to the others at the Denishawn School of dance. This went against all of the principles
that female dancers had originally been taught (Mapes, 2013). Over the duration of her career, Graham
created one of the only sets of technique that is still practiced in today s contemporary style (Mapes,
2013). Focusing on two main principles, contraction and release, Graham s technique was strikingly
different to that of

Data Mining, Partition Based Clustering
Abstract Nowadays, Popularity of Internet and wide improvement in enterprise information is leading
to vast research in text and data mining, and information filtering. So, the cluster technology is
becoming the core of text mining. Clustering is an important form of data mining. Clustering is a
process of grouping similar sets of data into a group, called clusters. This paper comprises of text
clustering algorithms, also analysis and comparison of the algorithms are done with respect to the
applicable scope, the initial parameters , size of dataset, accuracy, dimensionality, cluster shape and
noise sensitivity. Algorithms are classified as partitioned based clustering, hierarchical clustering,
density based , self organizing maps and fuzzy clustering techniques. The brief idea of each clustering
technique is mentioned in this paper.
Keywords Clustering, Data mining, partition based clustering, hierarchical based clustering, density
based clustering.
I. INTRODUCTION
Wide range of data is collected in different databases because of advanced techniques of data
collection. The demand for grouping the valuable data and extracting only the useful information from
data is increased. Clustering is the distribution of data into groups of identical objects which has
similarity within the cluster and dissimilarity with the objects in the other groups [2]. Cluster analysis
is the arrangement of a set of data into clusters of similar patterns [5]. Data within the same cluster are

The Significance Of The Final Solution To The Holocaust
The Holocaust was a systematic, bureaucratic and state sponsored decision made by the Nazi German
Government and their collaborators between years 1936 to 1945 to eliminate all Jews from European
society. This decision was known as the final solution to the Jewish question (Todd Allan 2001).
Although German authorities main target was the Jews they also targeted specific groups who were
perceived as racially inferior including; Roma (Gypsies), some Slavic people (poles, Russians and
others), communist, socialist, Jehovah s witnesses, the disabled, the mentally ill, homosexuals and
other people deemed inferior (Introduction to the Holocaust 2016). Jews were the main victims of the

Embezzlement classified to be a white collar crime. Growing up we learn that there are consequences
for stealing and actions taken against the people who violate the law. Embezzlement is a nonviolent

Mass Media And Its Effect On Society
Mass Media are organizations in our society. The medium industries provide information and
entertainment, but mass media also can affect political, social, and cultural institutions. Mediums such
as radio, newspapers, and television all reflect and affect American society. However, the main one
that I am going to discuss is Radio. Radio is more effective in mass media as compared to the other
mediums. The way radio was back then is way different from what it is in society today, it has
changed over time. People believe that radio is one of the dying mediums, but that s false. Radio has
saved plenty of lives through communication. Radio has been the first device to allow for mass
communication. It changed the pace at which information was exchanged. Radio broadcasts that exist
in society today didn t began until after World War I. Radio was used during the war to communicate.
But, the federal government had ordered all professionals off the air taking control over all stations.
Back in 1920, KDKA was licensed as the nation s first commercial broadcast in the United States. The
audience began to expand very quickly because advertisers began to see how well the broadcast was
doing. In addition, seeing that the audience was expanding they started to think about how they would
make money. So, AT T radio broadcast station (WEAF) became the first paid commercial, they began
selling limited advertisement time to sponsors. This led to success. Radio back then was and still is a

The Importance Of The Foster Care System
The foster care system has been around for generations, constantly adjusting the system to modernize
it. But there s been a loss of protection in the system through these last few years. The foster care
system needs to change because children are being placed in unsafe environments, funding is going in
unnecessary places, the adoption process has some discouraging qualifications, and education in the
system doesn t have a huge importance. Children in the foster care system are being put in unsafe
environments on a daily basis, such as abusive, drug using, or alcoholic foster parents. This has
become a pattern, a large number of adults who grew up in the foster care system, have experienced
one, if not more of these unsafe environments. An article by Brittany Hines Clark about her
experience in the foster care system, she says. I went to a long term placement when I was 7 years old.
I stayed there for about five years, but they weren t the most pleasant years. At first, I was the only girl
in the home, with three boys. By the time I was moved, five years later, there were six boys there, and
I was still the only girl. Only one of the boys was my biological brother. During my time in that home,
I was physically and sexually manipulated. So many things went on there, but only my outbursts were
reported to my social worker. I even was put in the home of a different member of that family so that
the foster parent would continue getting paid (Clark).

Persuasive Essay On Multitasking
Multitasking entails having different work activities and shifting attention from one task to another all
at one time. Being able to meet the standards of several different situations without dropping the ball.
The danger in multitasking is that effectiveness can be dangerous if someone tries to carry out too
many tasks at the same time and has to much on there hands. In todays world it isn t just the parents
that have the problem of multi tasking it s also their children too, having a time management matrix is
a pretty good idea on how you spend your time, during all times of the day. For me, multitasking
would effect my friend and I when we go duck hunting. Sometimes modern technology does cause a
distraction, and could be costly for my buddy and I missing ducks. Text messages, phone calls, and in
person contact with constituents. It s become the normal to check my phone and email while i m

On the average, 13 to 18 year olds use simultaneously six media sites outside of school, the article
doesn t give any examples of the cites these children use, these age groups multitask more often and
more extensively than previous generations than ever before. The result of the tendency of kids having

Shot Four Renoir
Though only two and a half minutes long and consisting of only eight shots, this scene from Jean
Renoir s 1937 film The Grand Illusion, efficiently and poignantly introduces both the characters and
audience to the divisions of class and outlook that permeated European society during the Great War.
Through visual, audial, and narrative devices, Renoir comments on the irony and foolishness of the
pre World War I aristocratic perspective on war.
Beginning with the first shot, Renoir subliminally emphasizes the elevated status of the bourgeoisie.
Shot one starts as a medium shot and dollies backwards to reveal the rest of group; however, once
Rauffenstein enters the frame, the camera follows his motion for the remainder of the minute long ...

Shot four is at a medium angle and features a fluid dolly right. Cinematically, this camera movement
allows Renoir to bring Boeldieu and Rauffenstein into frame for the reaction shot to the wreath bearer.
Thematically, the dolly right illustrates the casual, hospitable nature of the working class, and
accentuates the fatally static, both visually and culturally, nature of the bourgeoisie class that World
War I would eventually upend.
The hospitable, jovial nature of the sequences comes to an abrupt halt at the end of shot three. As the
characters all stop talking and stare off screen, an extreme imbalance in the scene is created. The
ambiguity, however, is resolved with a cut to shot four a soldier carrying in a wreath. Renoir s choice
to remove the sounds of the men speaking, the clattering of silverware, and the music from the
barkeep s phonograph all enhance the already visually dramatic shift in tone. The audience is further
informed of the significance of the wreath with an extreme close up in shot five, as they learn that it is
commemorating the death of a French flying Captain.
Following this tonal shift, the camera cuts back to a medium two shot of Rauffenstein apologizing for
this coincidence to notably only Boeldieu. The two aristocrats, formerly secure in their bubble from
the war around them, are reminded of their circumstances. The irony

Worldcom, A High Growth Company
When the accruals started to run out, WorldCom came up with another method, capitalization of line
costs. WorldCom started classifying line cost expenses as long term capital investments in 2000 (J.
Randel Kuhn Sutton, 2006). These expenses are required to immediately recognize in the period
incurred since the expenses are not for assets that can be capitalized and depreciated over their useful
life in accordance with GAAP. By falsely recording these expenses, WorldCom reported an artificial
increase in its net income and earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (What
Went Wrong at WorldCom?, 2002). Bernard Ebbers, CEO portrayed WorldCom as a high growth
company. Even though, its market conditions had worsen, Ebbers told analysts that he remain[ed]
comfortable with . . . 13.5 to 15.5% revenue growth in 2000. (Beresford, Katzenbach, C.B. Rogers,
2003). In order to show the public that they were doing well, top management kept a separate report to
come up with the difference that existed between the actual and expected number that they need to
report to the account called corporate unallocated revenue from the actual book (Beresford,
Katzenbach, C.B. Rogers, 2003). By doing so, WorldCom improperly recorded a total of $958 million

The Glass Menagerie, a play written by Tennessee Williams, is in a play full of emotion. The writer
envelopes his audience in a cloud of feelings, as he describes the lives of a family who faces poverty

Misleading Marketing At For Profit Colleges Essay
Misleading Marketing at For Profit Colleges Restricts Societal Growth
Although for profit colleges offer higher level education to interested students, they also operate as
businesses attempting to maximize profit, which raises the question: should education be viewed as a
mere product/service to be sold to those students willing to pay a designated price or an enlightening
experience that is fundamental to improving oneself and society? Since for profit colleges are able to
make a profit, unlike their non profit counterparts, they have placed a larger emphasis on maximizing
revenue than providing valuable education, which has led to an increase in the recruitment of students,
who are the primary sources of revenue, through methods of advertising and promotion. The usage of
aggressive marketing strategies has been extremely effective in increasing student enrollment at for
profit colleges by appealing to vulnerable individuals, such as veterans or high school dropouts, with
the ability to obtain a better career and life. However, in an effort to recruit more students, the
advertising and promotional tactics used by these institutions have misled students by presenting false
information about tuition costs and credibility of the provided education. By doing so, students who
wished to participate in higher education to improve themselves have, instead, experienced mounting
student debt and an inability to find a job supportive of their degree. By belittling education into a

Analyzing Soderbergh s Traffic
CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION
Films are arguably the most synthetic medium for storytelling, combining music, visual design,
dialogue, performance, and plot into one package. Each one of these elements might be considered a
platform with which to create a narrative, but it is the combination of individual components that
ultimately separates the great movies from the merely mediocre.
Cinema is frequently watched by the populace of all ages and genders but the color symbolism of the
visual aspect is rarely paid attention to.
The Director of a film, working closely with the Director of Photography creates a color palette, based
on the genre and mood of the film. Viewers can correctly judge the genre of the film, looking at just its

Examples Of Character Changes In Remember The Titans
Describe how a character changes in the film Remember the Titans Explain why this change occurs.
In the film Remember the titans which was directed by Boaz Yakin. I thought that Julius had changed
the most during the film and these changes occurred in these three points. One point is how Julius was
a very strong an opinionated person. The second point is Julius and Gerry finally confronted each
other about getting along and the last point is how coach Boone pushed Julius and Gerry to share the
captaincy roles to work hard together for the team to follow in example.
Julius was a very opinionated person, who was all about himself and not looking after his own team or
anyone else for that matter. For example when Julius was confronted by Gerry, during this
conversation Julius said I m supposed to wear out myself for this team? What team? Nope that s not
what I m going to do is I m going to look after myself. When this confrontation was happening there
were many close up camera shots, this was because the director wanted to show the emotion and anger
in the faces of Gerry and Julius. This shows that Julius is a very opinionated person and he only cares
about himself, this is shown in what he told Julius.

Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC), Stokely Carmichael, echoed Garvey s philosophy when
he coined the term Black Power at a rally in Mississippi (Brown 2014). Introduced as an oratorical
tool, black power urged race pride and race unity to inspire militancy among black Americans. It was
founded on the belief that black survival depended on the exercise of black power to effect economic
and political change in black communities. Alongside Malcolm X s rhetoric of empowerment and the
aggressiveness of groups such as the Black Panther Party, Carmichael s vision of black power was not
representative of integration what he believed spoke to the problem of blackness (Carmichael 1966).
Interestingly, affirmative action, a then new approach to empowering black Americans, undermined
this basic tenant. It gave African Americans preferential treatment in hiring and school admissions,
which effectually assimilated blacks into majorly white institutions. (Affirmative Action 2014) Thus,
affirmative action adopted a more inclusive philosophy. As such, it is easy to conclude that these two
ideologies lie on opposite sides of the race relations spectrum; that despite originating to bring about
societal justice for African Americans, black power advocates sought their freedoms through

Essay On Alicia Keys
Born Alicia Augello Cook on January 25, 1981, fathered by an African American man and an Italian
American woman. Alicia grew up in a tough neighborhood known as Hell s Kitchen located in the
lower parts of Manhattan. During her childhood, the family faced many challenges and was poverty
stricken. These bad times caused her mother and father to part ways. After the split, Alicia was mainly
raised by her mother Terri Augello. Terri worked most of Alicia s childhood as a paralegal and a part
time actress (Kaufman,2004). Though Alicia did not see her father often, the two always stayed on
good terms with each other. Being raised in a single parent home was a struggle for Keys and her
mom.
To comfort her from the daily challenges that she was experiencing, at the age of 7 is when Alicia
started her piano lessons. Alicia s mom would not deny the fact that her daughter had a ... Show more

Her film debut was the film Smokin Aces. She followed up her movie debut with her fourth album, as
I am. Just like her previous albums, her fourth album was a sensation among her fans. Keys fourth
album sold seven hundred fifty thousand in the first week of its release.
While touring and doing promos for her many projects, Alicia took some time off, met her now
husband they went on to have 2 children. During that time, Alicia still made appearances on various
television shows, music awards and her latest venture in 2015, was appearing on the hit show Empire
where she alongside one of the shows leading actors Jussie Smollet, compiled a very inspiring song
called Powerful . Alicia excels in everything she touches musically.
Facing diversity and staring it right in the face, Alicia Keys overcame a lot. She emerged and through
all the fame and fortune she stayed true to herself. Her self respect and self value is why Alicia Keys
has become one of the most well known and respected wife, mother, artist and actress of her

The United Methodist Church Of Mishawaka, Indiana
Coalbush United Methodist Church is in Mishawaka, Indiana. The Indiana Conference church
development team selected Coalbush as a strategic location for potential growth. The church is located
right off of the US 20 bypass on the south side of Mishawaka. The city is slowly moving out toward
the country, which is how this church views itself: a country church. Mishawaka is not predicted to
experience great growth in the next ten years with the make up of a household having little change
either. The majority of the people are Anglo American with little diversity. This is a somewhat
traditional community where the majority of people report a sense of well being. The average
household income is approximately $60,000. The largest age group is between 35 55 years old.
I was appointed to Coalbush beginning July 1, 2016. I have been observing and serving as I attempt to
discover the unique context and setting for this local church in this season of their very long history.
The church mission and passion has been stalled for the last few years. The Coalbush United
Methodist Church entered a program about five years ago to help them evaluate their fruitfulness and
effectiveness of the church. It was determined that too much time was spent in meetings and not
enough time actually doing ministry. The church went through a three year process of attempting to
restructure and lessen the many other committees of the church. Missions, Outreach, Assimilation,

Organizational Concepts And Cultural Context
III. Organizational Examples: Both institutional context and cultural context have positive and
negative aspects to HRM design in companies. HR staff in Hyundai, the second biggest car
manufacturer in India, faced with law and policy problems. In May 2010, employees went on strike
after the organization sacked and did not reinstate 35 employees due to alleged behaviour (Kramer and
Syed, 2012). In addition, this was the third time that local workers had struggled against the company
because of dismissing employees. Moreover, not only Hyundai was a victim of workers mutiny but
also MRF struck and Pricol faced with similar issue, even one employer of Pricol died due to
employee s unrest. The reason for these problems is that labour laws in ... Show more content on

It is a true that the state limits the role of the company and HR department because only the
government has a right to resolve any dispute between employers and employees. While workers have
the right to complain or contest the company, the employer s refutation only has a value after
judgement by the state. Similarly, Nestle, a Swiss multinational organization with nearly 250,000
employees and more than 300 global factories faced with the same problem in Philippines when the
strike of the union in 1982 was the beginning of struggle between workers and company later on
(Selmer De Leon). The reason of the conflict was the cultural misunderstanding between Nestle Group
and Filipino workers. In detail, after a rapid period in 1970, Nestle forced employees to overwork,
which made them do not have enough time for families. Besides, the organization tried to adapt to
Western core values such as individualism and result oriented that appealed to local workers. In fact,
two core values of Filipino in communication are Pagsangguni and Paghihikayat (Selmer De Leon,
2001). While the definition of the first one is to consult, which need others to give them advice, the
second one means to convince which displays the cause why Filipinos wanted to be persuaded by
somebody before making decision. Indeed, Filipinos are in

Costco takes aid from innovative inventory system that provides real time inventory information called Collaborative Retail Exchange (CRX). • 3. My High School Science Projects Machines are on a fast paced evolutionary track that renders them indispensable to the progress of mankind. One such machine that has made great strides in the last century is the automobile. Mobility has always been my area of fascination; the working of a simple bicycle to the advanced Formula One car has always made me curious. During my high school studies I was a student of science and mathematics, both these subjects helped me in unraveling the mysteries of nature by better understanding principles that govern its working. I have participated in several school and inter school science projects, one such project that left lasting impression was that of a study on gear mechanism used in various tools, fascinated by the same I was on self propelled path of discovery. I am driven by asking the questions: why? and how? and this curiosity developed into a passion for machines as a whole and led me to do an undergraduate program in Mechanical Engineering from PVG S College of Engineering and Technology under the prestigious University of Pune, a leading academic institution in the automotive hub of India, Pune. The four year course exposed me to many fascinating subjects, my interest evolved as I explored subjects like Manufacturing Process, Theory of Machines, Metallurgy, Fluid Mechanics, Machine Design, Power Transmission System, IC engines etc. I have tried to be in tune with the latest Mechanical technologies by attending courses offered by automotive industry itself, ... • 5. The Federal Reserve System Is A Banking System Of The... Keyonna Gregory October 25, 2014 BUS 254 Internet Workshop Question 1a. Write a one page concise or two pages double spaced summary explaining the Federal Reserve. Basically, the Federal Reserve System is a banking system of the United States. It was created in 1913, with the enactment of the Federal reserve Act (2014). There are many responsibilities the Federal Reserves has which include, supervision and regulation, monetary policy, payment services and finally the financial stability. President Woodrow Wilson signed the Federal Reserve Act, into a law. There are also many events that led up to the signing of the Federal Reserve Act that stuck out to me. The money and banking systems weren t the same in Colonial America. Colonial banks were not allowed to accept deposits from the public or make loans. Instead, they issued paper currency backed by metals and goals. Colonists were also limited to using bartering, European coinage as their primary means of exchange. The legislation created a uniform national currency and permitted only nationally chartered banks to issue bank notes (2014). There was a period of a free banking era. There was a huge need for a reliable banking system during the civil war. Many banks did not keep enough money on hand to meet the normal demands. People lost their confidence in the banks and then began to go take their money out. This triggered a succession of bank failures. The Federal Reserve System had a severe financial crisis, in ... • 6. The s Theory Of The Tripartite Soul And Sigmund Freud s... Moral Compass Navigation helps individuals arrive to a given destination, but the human life also requires of such navigation. Some individuals unconsciously seek directions when challenged with a given issue and know which way to steer because of their moral compass. Furthermore, the moral compass is the soul that guides the personal self, but it is also the non material aspect of a human being that is immortal. Although, the soul s existence is in question, there is evidence that validates that the soul is real. Such evidence includes Plato s theory of the tripartite soul and Sigmund Freud s psychodynamic theory, which reevaluates Plato s theory. Both theories address that the soul s existence is the personality of a human being. On the other hand, many critics claim that the soul does not exist since it is beyond our knowledge; therefore we cannot demonstrate such existence. Hume a philosopher during the Enlightenment affirms this claim under the branch of empiricism, which states that true knowledge, arises from our five senses: touch, smell, sight, taste, and hearing. Therefore, to determine if something exists at least one or all of the senses have to be applied since the material aspects of something demonstrates its existence. Moreover, the reasoning behind empiricism is an addition to Hume s theory of sense perception. The theory is composed of two elements, which are impressions and ideas. Impressions are immediate sensations or perceptions such as touch or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Speech On The Moon Landing In history, one of the greatest achievement known to mankind is the Apollo 11 moon landing. On July 20, 1969, the spaceflight known as the lunar module Eagle, landed the first three humans on the moon (NASA). The first human to step, and leave a footprint on the moon was mission commander, Neil Armstrong. Climbing down the ladder, the words that he said are still reminisced to this day, That s one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind (NASA). The other two who were also part of this accomplishment was the pilot, Edwin Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins. Before this historic triumph, almost a decade before it occurred, the 35th president of the Unites States, John F. Kennedy, on May 25, 1961, he proposed to the world the ambitious goal to put a man on the moon before the decade if out (Logsdon 37). John F. Kennedy truly believed that it was only a matter of time for them to make it possible since their technology was already too advanced. There has been so much more that humans have been capable of and landing on the moon sure was going to be one of them. As technology advances, humans are capable of so much more, such as discovering nuclear power, the invention of the television, satellites, and computers. These have proven that the intellectual knowledge in humans keeps expanding every single day, making it possible to make more discoveries and accomplishments. John F. Kennedy was not able to witness such success because two years later, after his speech, he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Persuasive Essay On The Lorax If things keep going the way they are humans will inevitably destroy the ocean and in doing so destroy themselves. There need to be more Loraxes. We the people need to work together to minimize and ultimately stop the production and use of plastics. Driving down the highway, or the gravel road it doesn t matter I look on either side of the road and what do I see; plastic debris and trash. Someone had to have thrown it there or maybe it blew out of the back of a trash truck going by but regardless there it sits until someone picks it up or an animal mistakes it for a meal or a home. When Dr. Suess wrote The Lorax it was in response to deforestation if he were alive today I think he would make another version of the Lorax however this time it would be about polluting the ocean. Riding in the with my cousin once I watched him throw a can out of the window. I can remember getting mad at him and asking him what he was doing and all he said was, someone else will pick it up, it s not like it is a big deal. Well at the time I let it go and thought nothing more of it. Time continued on and when I was in sixth grade my mom and I went to Florida as your driving on a dirt road, how about that drive through meal bag that your spouse can t know about because you and your supposed to be eating healthy? Or watched someone else throw that spit bottle out the window? Believe it or not things like these examples have an impact on the world. We ve all heard the reduce, reuse, recycle but why are people so adamant about it? Perfect examples of reasons why people do this can be seen in the ocean ecosystems. In our society today sex is a very open subject and is being observed by young adults in everyday life. When you are young and curious and want to know why something is a certain way, you look for answers and research as much as you can to get a full idea about what something is. They played at recruitment rallies and kept up the troops morale. Their main job was to relay orders from higher ranking officers. The branches of the military determined which instrument made the calls. The drummer boys, fife players, buglers and the songs that they performed played a significant part in the war. Drummer boys enlisted to serve in the infantry. These boys were usually eighteen years old, but younger boys sometimes faked their age to enlist. They learned to relay orders to help soldiers during battle by sounding a call, which is a short tune with an assigned job or order. They had to go through meticulous training because they had to make the correct calls. With the battlefields covered in gun smoke, the soldiers relied on the drummer boys to sound the orders. If their calls were incorrect, they could confuse the soldiers or even give them the wrong orders. In addition to this, drummer boys had to make calls in camp. Some of the common calls were morning roll call, sick call, guard duty and taps. Being a drummer boy was only one of the different types of musicians that had these responsibilities. Musicians that play fife, commonly called fifers, marched alongside drums in battles. A fife is like a piccolo. It is also similar to a flute, but it has a much higher range. The fife was useful ... After the perambulatory clauses, Executive Order 20 adheres very closely to the basic format previously suggested that most state government follow. The first operative clause clarifies that the ethics policy applies to all Executive Branch employees over 43,000 people unless otherwise noted. The second clause discusses potential conflict of interests to avoid: using public office for personal gain, giving preferential treatment to any individual, impeding government efficiency and economy, losing complete independence or impartiality, making government decisions outside of official channels, and affecting adversely the confidence of the public in integrity of government (pg. 1 2). The third clause actually covers three somewhat disparate areas: 1. Financial Interests; 2. Use of Information; and 3. Use of Government Property. There exists no restriction for personal prayer (1 Corinthians 14:18 19), however should not be used in public places without an interpreter, as mentioned in 1 Corinthians 14:28. Those negating the validity of speaking in tongues typically use 1 Corinthians 13:8 10 as the basis for their argument. However, the verse is comparing eternal with temporal things. This is Paul s way of emphasizing peace in abiding things (like faith, hope and love) versus division for the sake of the tongues controversy to the church (Smith). Verse 10 also brings about the discussion of what Paul refers to as perfect . Using the natural lines of the body to create new movements, the contemporary dance style usually has more fluidity than that of conventional dance styles (Freeman, 2013). In the book Beginning Modern Dance , Miriam Giguere says The function of dance is communication. . . . By communication is not meant to tell a story or to project an idea, but to communicate experience by means of action . . . out of this came a different use of the body as an instrument, as the violin is an instrument. Body is the basic instrument, intuitive, instinctive. As a result an entirely contemporary set of technics was evolved. (Giguere, 2014). A forerunner in the changing face of modern dance was choreographer and performer Martha Graham. Graham took up dance at the age of 22, during the time when women were fighting for the right to vote (Mapes, 2013). Being both shorter and older than most dancers, Graham had to use her body in a different way to the others at the Denishawn School of dance. This went against all of the principles that female dancers had originally been taught (Mapes, 2013). Over the duration of her career, Graham created one of the only sets of technique that is still practiced in today s contemporary style (Mapes, 2013). • 30. Mass Media And Its Effect On Society Mass Media are organizations in our society. The medium industries provide information and entertainment, but mass media also can affect political, social, and cultural institutions. Mediums such as radio, newspapers, and television all reflect and affect American society. However, the main one that I am going to discuss is Radio. Radio is more effective in mass media as compared to the other mediums. The way radio was back then is way different from what it is in society today, it has changed over time. People believe that radio is one of the dying mediums, but that s false. Radio has saved plenty of lives through communication. Radio has been the first device to allow for mass communication. It changed the pace at which information was exchanged. Radio broadcasts that exist in society today didn t began until after World War I. Radio was used during the war to communicate. But, the federal government had ordered all professionals off the air taking control over all stations. Back in 1920, KDKA was licensed as the nation s first commercial broadcast in the United States. The audience began to expand very quickly because advertisers began to see how well the broadcast was doing. In addition, seeing that the audience was expanding they started to think about how they would make money. So, AT T radio broadcast station (WEAF) became the first paid commercial, they began selling limited advertisement time to sponsors. This led to success. Radio back then was and still is a ... • 32. The Importance Of The Foster Care System The foster care system has been around for generations, constantly adjusting the system to modernize it. But there s been a loss of protection in the system through these last few years. The foster care system needs to change because children are being placed in unsafe environments, funding is going in unnecessary places, the adoption process has some discouraging qualifications, and education in the system doesn t have a huge importance. Children in the foster care system are being put in unsafe environments on a daily basis, such as abusive, drug using, or alcoholic foster parents. This has become a pattern, a large number of adults who grew up in the foster care system, have experienced one, if not more of these unsafe environments. An article by Brittany Hines Clark about her experience in the foster care system, she says. I went to a long term placement when I was 7 years old. I stayed there for about five years, but they weren t the most pleasant years. At first, I was the only girl in the home, with three boys. By the time I was moved, five years later, there were six boys there, and I was still the only girl. Only one of the boys was my biological brother. During my time in that home, I was physically and sexually manipulated. So many things went on there, but only my outbursts were reported to my social worker. I even was put in the home of a different member of that family so that the foster parent would continue getting paid (Clark). Also in an article by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 34. Shot Four Renoir Though only two and a half minutes long and consisting of only eight shots, this scene from Jean Renoir s 1937 film The Grand Illusion, efficiently and poignantly introduces both the characters and audience to the divisions of class and outlook that permeated European society during the Great War. Through visual, audial, and narrative devices, Renoir comments on the irony and foolishness of the pre World War I aristocratic perspective on war. Beginning with the first shot, Renoir subliminally emphasizes the elevated status of the bourgeoisie. Shot one starts as a medium shot and dollies backwards to reveal the rest of group; however, once Rauffenstein enters the frame, the camera follows his motion for the remainder of the minute long ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Shot four is at a medium angle and features a fluid dolly right. Cinematically, this camera movement allows Renoir to bring Boeldieu and Rauffenstein into frame for the reaction shot to the wreath bearer. Thematically, the dolly right illustrates the casual, hospitable nature of the working class, and accentuates the fatally static, both visually and culturally, nature of the bourgeoisie class that World War I would eventually upend. The hospitable, jovial nature of the sequences comes to an abrupt halt at the end of shot three. As the characters all stop talking and stare off screen, an extreme imbalance in the scene is created. The ambiguity, however, is resolved with a cut to shot four a soldier carrying in a wreath. Renoir s choice to remove the sounds of the men speaking, the clattering of silverware, and the music from the barkeep s phonograph all enhance the already visually dramatic shift in tone. The audience is further informed of the significance of the wreath with an extreme close up in shot five, as they learn that it is commemorating the death of a French flying Captain. Following this tonal shift, the camera cuts back to a medium two shot of Rauffenstein apologizing for this coincidence to notably only Boeldieu. The two aristocrats, formerly secure in their bubble from the war around them, are reminded of their circumstances. The irony ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Worldcom, A High Growth Company When the accruals started to run out, WorldCom came up with another method, capitalization of line costs. WorldCom started classifying line cost expenses as long term capital investments in 2000 (J. Randel Kuhn Sutton, 2006). These expenses are required to immediately recognize in the period incurred since the expenses are not for assets that can be capitalized and depreciated over their useful life in accordance with GAAP. By falsely recording these expenses, WorldCom reported an artificial increase in its net income and earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (What Went Wrong at WorldCom?, 2002). Bernard Ebbers, CEO portrayed WorldCom as a high growth company. Misleading Marketing At For Profit Colleges Essay Misleading Marketing at For Profit Colleges Restricts Societal Growth Although for profit colleges offer higher level education to interested students, they also operate as businesses attempting to maximize profit, which raises the question: should education be viewed as a mere product/service to be sold to those students willing to pay a designated price or an enlightening experience that is fundamental to improving oneself and society? Since for profit colleges are able to make a profit, unlike their non profit counterparts, they have placed a larger emphasis on maximizing revenue than providing valuable education, which has led to an increase in the recruitment of students, who are the primary sources of revenue, through methods of advertising and promotion. The usage of aggressive marketing strategies has been extremely effective in increasing student enrollment at for profit colleges by appealing to vulnerable individuals, such as veterans or high school dropouts, with the ability to obtain a better career and life. However, in an effort to recruit more students, the advertising and promotional tactics used by these institutions have misled students by presenting false information about tuition costs and credibility of the provided education. By doing so, students who wished to participate in higher education to improve themselves have, instead, experienced mounting student debt and an inability to find a job supportive of their degree. • 41. African American History In the early 1920s Marcus Garvey captured the interest of many black Americans when he emphasized black nationalism and black separatism (White et. al. 2012). In 1966, former leader of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC), Stokely Carmichael, echoed Garvey s philosophy when he coined the term Black Power at a rally in Mississippi (Brown 2014). Introduced as an oratorical tool, black power urged race pride and race unity to inspire militancy among black Americans. It was founded on the belief that black survival depended on the exercise of black power to effect economic and political change in black communities. Alongside Malcolm X s rhetoric of empowerment and the aggressiveness of groups such as the Black Panther Party, Carmichael s vision of black power was not representative of integration what he believed spoke to the problem of blackness (Carmichael 1966). Interestingly, affirmative action, a then new approach to empowering black Americans, undermined this basic tenant. It gave African Americans preferential treatment in hiring and school admissions, which effectually assimilated blacks into majorly white institutions. (Affirmative Action 2014) Thus, affirmative action adopted a more inclusive philosophy. As such, it is easy to conclude that these two ideologies lie on opposite sides of the race relations spectrum; that despite originating to bring about societal justice for African Americans, black power advocates sought their freedoms through ... Similarly, Nestle, a Swiss multinational organization with nearly 250,000 employees and more than 300 global factories faced with the same problem in Philippines when the strike of the union in 1982 was the beginning of struggle between workers and company later on (Selmer De Leon).
