Oral Culture Of The Late Middle Ages
Given the prevalence of books, magazines, and newspapers in everyday life today, it is difficult to
imagine a world without print. The transition from the essentially oral culture of the late Middle Ages
to the print culture of the Renaissance fundamentally changed human interaction. In Western society,
the invention of the printing press and subsequent widespread literacy signaled the shift away from a
primarily oral culture to a literate, print culture. Many scholars, including Plato and Harold Innis, have
suggested that the advantages of an oral culture exceed those of a print culture. Even further, the past
few decades have seen calls to orality, or propositions that we must return to oral culture to balance
print culture. As seen through a lens of the history of print culture, the benefits of literacy and a
predominantly print culture outweigh the benefits of an oral culture because of the impact print has
had on standardized language and national consciousness, the field of science and accuracy, and the
quick dissemination of information and dialogue. Through a comparison of advancements during the
Print Revolution and current features of modern society, I will argue that there is no need to re
embrace orality because elements of oral culture already exist in our modern print culture.
The Print Revolution was marked by the invention of the printing press and growing industrial
capitalism in Europe. The idea of capitalism enabled publishers to seek mass markets for

Does The Huntsman Winter s War Exist
I can t figure out why The Huntsman: Winter s War exists. Honestly. The movie s a rare cinematic do
over an opportunity to re enter a flawed story (the one told in 2012 s Snow White and the Huntsman)
with the intention of salvaging the tiny bits that worked the first time, while also course correcting and
removing the parts the audience deemed unnecessary. Only, that doesn t happen. This peculiar, hybrid
prequel/sequel commits the same mistakes as its predecessor, and ends up being as shapeless,
nondescript and unimaginative as Snow Whitewas... only this time, they don t have Kristen Stewart to
blame.
So, what went wrong? As far as I can tell, the producers miscalculated just how interesting Chris
Hemsworth s rugged fairy tale warrior, Eric, was, or could be. His character in Snow White was
neither a love interest nor a savior. He lived in the narrative shadow of his leading lady, while both
Stewart and Hemsworth repeatedly were eclipsed by the scenery chewing of Charlize Theron s evil
queen, Ravenna. I can t remember a single non Theron scene from Snow White and the Huntsman.
Her presence was just that dominant. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Machiavelli s Flaws In The Prince
his work, The Prince, Machiavelli references dozens of infamous men and women who are leaders and
rulers in their own right. However, he recognizes them for many failures rather than for their successes
and conquests. Machiavelli attributes the failure and blame entirely to the fact that none of the
mentioned individuals properly adhered to his rules . Machiavelli meticulously describes and outlines
his ideas of what essential Prince qualities are, hoping that someone who reads them will follow his
words and turn them into actions. A careful audience who reads the meaning and not just the content
will see that The Prince is simply Machiavelli carrying out his plan by covertly doing everything he
describes in his outline. That is what makes it quite clear that Machiavelli himself is ... Show more

Machiavelli is not only the Prince but is drawing a comparison of himself to God. He is the source of
the reader s lawgiving to others by implementing new modes and orders via the person or people who
follows his word. He also mentions that Moses had so great a teacher (23). The teacher in this case
would be Machiavelli. In chapter 26 it is mentioned that Moses greatness came as a resolution to
tragedy, those enslaved in Egypt (102). That can be compared to the conflicts going in Italy during his
time, and is Machiavelli compelling another to show greatness if they follow his orders and fix the
problem. The audience, if following his advice, is comparable to Moses due to the lack of greatness
that is actually brought upon by their own doing. Machiavelli stresses the importance of the Prince
getting someone else to do their dirty deeds for them. This is exactly what the purpose of The Prince
was, to get another person to take these words of wisdom and execute them without any blood on

Color And The Perception Of Color
Color and the Perception of Color
Cynthia Xu
Stoller Middle School
Perception. The ability to see, hear, or become aware of something through one of the five senses
(Kandel, Schwartz, Jessell, 2000). In other words, it is the process of interpreting and organizing
sensory information. Perception must be understood according to figure ground, similarity, proximity,
continuity, and other organizing principles. At work in the interpretation of sensory stimuli are other
perceptual phenomena such as perceptual constancy, a phenomenon which occurs in the perception of
size, shape, color, and brightness; depth perception, another phenomenon based on binocular and
monocular cues; and the perception of motion (Wood, 2008). One of the brain s primary functions is
to obtain biologically important information from the various sensory inputs. The brain of a human is
provided with sufficient information about a variety of things such as light, sound, the atmosphere s
chemical composition, temperature, and things such as head orientation, limb position, the chemical
composition of the bloodstream, among other things. Specialized sensors project signals into the brain
when they detect sensory modalities. Light sensitive neurons in the retina of the eye, vibration
sensitive neurons in the cochlea of the ear, along with the pressure sensitive neurons in the skin are all
specialized receptor cells of which each sensory system begins with. The axons of the sensory receptor

Six Characteristics Of Religion
1) Define religion in terms of its six characteristics sacred, myth, ritual, community, morality, and
religious leaders and explain the possible relations among them.
Religion can be defined with six characteristics: Sacred, myth, ritual, community, morality, and
religious leaders. The first concept of religion is sacred, which is the idea that religion binds
individuals and communities together. Myth is not the conventional definition we think of rather a
much deeper concept. Myth is derived from the Greek word of mythos and is defined as a story that
ties and binds humans into a powerful story about their destiny and origins. These stories, however,
have profound truths behind life and should not be confused with fake stories. ... Show more content

Their role is critical in terms of explaining and in some cases performing these rituals to members of
their community. Historically, rank and file members could not read these sacred texts and therefore
relied on a religious expert/leader to interpret and explain the context of these texts.
2) What are the problems in knowing and understanding the religions that existed before the
development of written language? Oral recitation isn t necessarily the best method to preserve
religious text since errors may arise and alter the original meaning of a certain concept or idea.
Although individuals with these stories and traditions may be able to preserve them through oral
recitation, the generations after them may not be as effective. Furthermore, the interpretation could be
different without having written text as one word could derail the original intent of a story and/or
tradition. Nevertheless, these stories (myths) and traditions could be preserved through song and
dance. Additionally, oral language changes as a result of the inclusion of other more complex
languages. As a result, it becomes incredibly difficult to expand one s religion as other languages are
created. Therefore, the comprehension of religions lacks cultural development without written
language since it was only exclusively known to a small group of people.

3. OPPORTUNI TIES FOR EXPANSION OF CANBERRY BOG
Cranberry Bogs had been developed on natural wetland areas. The bogs were formed around the
margin of streams and ponds. Cranberries were one component of ecosystem. The commercial
cultivation of the cranberry altered to the ecological diversity of the bog. The functional value of
wetlands were recognized by environmental activists including physical and hydrologic properties
such as flood protection, ground water recharge and erosion control, biological and biochemical
functions and nutrient provision. Cranberry cultivation posed for developing wetland regulations. The
cranberry was a native wetland plant. The impacts of cranberry production on the aesthetic and the
intrinsic value of the wetland functions related to water quality and biodiversity. The studies
undertaken by the growers and the Ocean Spray suggested that the cranberry bog was low in diversity.
The cranberry growers protected large areas of land from urbanization. Cranberry Bog were the heart
of a unique growing system that included wetlands, uplands, ditches, flumes, ponds and reservoirs.
There were four acres of support land for every acre of cranberry bog. The entire Cranberry wetland
system provided a diversity of habitat for many rare animal and plant species. Hence the government
restricted the usage of bogs which were of high value to the environment. However, Cranberries had

Tobacco, tumor causing teeth staining smelly puking habit. Advertising has become a way of life. The
average American is exposed to 3,000 advertisements a day. These advertisements come from the
television, radio, news papers, billboard signs, and countless other ways. The advertisers use different
ways of attracting a consumer to buy their product. One of the strategies that the author will use is

The kids do not see before and after pictures of people who have smoked for years in the magazines or

people are the age twenty they have decided whether or not they are going to smoke or not. Kids see
attractive people in movies and commercials smoking, or cartoon animals smoking and they think it is
cool. If a product, like cigarettes, will make kids feel like they fit in, then they will do it even if the
product will hurt them. This kind of audience, the youth, is very vulnerable because they will do
anything to get accepted by people.

Example Of Justifying A Value
1.) The first example of justifying a value is when getting my car detailed. I am looking at market
value, fair value and the utility factor for the services. This service satisfies the need and desire for a
clean car to take clients out with, after it was dirtied by a tough winter. I compared prices for similar
car detailing services, and asked around for referrals from several people. Of the two companies, one
was recommended strongly. I saw examples of each work and agreed with the highly recommended
company. In my opinion, the cost at the time was fair value and, compared to other detailers, was
market value. The prices were advertised for a year without any price increase. The second example of
justifying a value is when purchasing products from Starbucks Coffee. There is a slight influence upon
me through the desire of my teenage daughter wanting to visit the coffee shop. With my effective
purchasing power, and both our desire of a drink/coffee/treat once and a while, we will go to
Starbucks. It is true that Starbucks is a Going Concern, and their prices are fair value compared to
Timothies and Tim Hortons. I have joined their rewards program, which enables me to occasionally
receive free or discounted drinks, as well as free refills. Starbucks, with the loyalty program, is an
investment value to me.

!!!The Devil: H. H. Holmes and The Murder Castle
Dr. H. H. Holmes is one of the two main figures in The Devil in the White City . Born Herman
Webster Mudgett in 1861, Holmes was a shady character from the beginning. While studying
medicine and surgery at the University of Michigan, he stole bodies from the university s laboratory,
mutilated them, and reported their deaths as accidents so he could collect on the insurance policies he
had taken out on the dead. Around the time that he arrived in Chicago, Holmes began using his
famous __alias__, or false name, Dr. H. H. Holmes.
Upon arriving in Chicago in 1886, Holmes set himself up in business as a pharmacist. In 1893,
sensing a once in a lifetime business opportunity, he opened a hotel, which he called the World s Fair
Hotel. The building would become notorious as Holmes s Murder Castle.
Holmes s hotel was an impenetrable maze of more than 100 windowless rooms, dead end hallways,
and doors opening to nowhere. To ensure that he alone understood the overall plan of the building,
Holmes constantly hired and fired building crews, keeping anyone from working on the Murder Castle
for too long.
Holmes murdered dozens perhaps hundreds of people who stayed in his hotel while they were in
Chicago to attend the World s Fair. His victims were primarily women, but he preyed occasionally on
men and children as well. His Murder Castle was specially

Overcoming Fears In The Outsiders By S. E. Hinton
Overcoming Fears I killed him, he said slowly. I killed that boy (Hinton 56). In the book The

child named Ponyboy. Johhnny Cade has many names. To live on the rundown section of Tulsa,
Oklahoma, in the 1960 s you are not expected to be wealthy or to have an emotional attachment to

word that describes Johnny very well. He had a nervous, suspicious look in his eyes, and that beating
from the Socs didn t help matters. (Hinton 31) The Socs jumped Johnny and ever since the incident he
was always looking around and scared that, he was going to be in that situation again. It was killing
Johnny. He had never been a coward. He was a good man in a rumble. He stuck up for the gang and
kept his mouth shut around the cops. But after the night of the beating, Johnny was jumpier than ever.

Disadvantages Of Narcissism
As they were in middle class, which was higher class than what my siblings and I were at, I wondered
if this would apply to them. With my experience, I believe it would since they were of higher class
than us and those narcissists would be boastful about accomplishments and possessions. Here, some
readers may be saying that social class does not necessarily cause one to be narcissistic. I am not
saying that not all those of higher class are narcissists, but rather that it can put them for a higher risk
of becoming narcissistic. Other factors, such as social media and parenting, could also contribute to
one becoming narcissistic. Going along with the factor of parenting, the question of how that family
would behave with each other had come up. I have already seen how they could treat others outside of
their family, whether it be to put on a different face before their true colors leek out after getting to
know them. From what I have seen and heard, they tend to have a golden child and a sort of
scapegoat. In the article, The Strength of the Scapegoat in the Narcissist Family, Julie Hall, a
contributing writer for the Huffington Post, describes a scapegoat as ...the narcissist s go to projection

contribute to my success in smoking cessation, but I am grateful for the opportunity to write my

this goal. Hopefully, by this time next year I will be a bonafide nonsmoker lecturing and shaking my

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Pickering Emulsion
Pickering Emulsions: Particles with a difference
Pickering Emulsion is an emulsion stabilised by solid particles located on the interface between two
phases. This type of emulsion was named after S.U. Pickering, who described the phenomenon in
1907, although the effect was first recognized by Walter Ramsden in 1903Pickering emulsion utilizes
solid particles alone as stabilizers, which accumulate at the interface between two immiscible liquids
(typically denoted as oil and water phase) and stabilize droplets against coalescence. Solid particles
are used as stabilisers due to various advantages: (i)solid particles reduce the possibility of
coalescence, bringing about higher stability to emulsions; (ii) many solid particles can endow as
prepared materials useful characteristics such as conductivity, responsiveness, porosity, and so on; (iii)
some food grade solid particles have lower toxicity, thus leading to higher safety for in vivo usage.
The basic principle of the process involves formation of shell around the oil drop or water drop.
If the contact angle of the particle with water is 90° (i.e. it is hydrophilic) the emulsion ... Show more

If one of the liquids wets solid particles more than the other one, the better wetting liquid becomes the
continuous phase and the other becomes the dispersed phase. O/W emulsions will come into being if
the three phase contact angle θ (angle at the three phase boundary of solid particles, continuous phase
and dispersed phase) is less than 90° (e.g., silica, clay), and W/O emulsions should form if θ 90° (e.g.,
carbon black). However, only when θ is relatively close to 90° can the particle effectively act as a
Pickering stabilizer. The particles tend to remain dispersed in either phase if they are too hydrophilic
(low θ) or too hydrophobic (high

Metaphors In Shakespeare s Works
Shakespeare s work is among the hardest to read because of its supposed complexity and
sophistication. The language used in the Early Modern Era is different than that of the Post Modern
Era. Audiences that saw the performances were aural learners and were able to pinpoint certain tones
and facial expressions that readers may not detect through words. Watching the plays performed
provided better feedback than readings do (Palfrey 10 11). Metaphors, implicit or explicit, are figures
of speech that help compare two unlike things and are not designed for literal intake. Yet, with
Shakespeare s work, metaphors should be taken literally. According to George Lakoff and Mark
Johnson, however, this technique of comparison allows metaphors to simultaneously highlight and
hide certain attributes and/or qualities about the thing(s) being compared to (12 13). The highlighting
and hiding of metaphors gives readers more insight into what Shakespeare may have meant at the time
or even more so in what context did the people of the Elizabethan Age use language (Palfrey 11). Two
important components of metaphors that do the highlighting and hiding are the vehicle and the tenor;
each can be implicit or explicit as well. The metaphor in question emphasizes both the importance and
unimportance of Lavinia s character. Shakespeare s work is littered with metaphors; some which
require careful reading to pick up on, while others are easily detectable. Simon Palfrey states that

Similarities Between Bahamas And Usa
Cultures and traditions differ all around the world. The Bahamas is an outstanding place to stay for

in the Bahamas where they celebrate holidays, and follow traditions. Something as simple as marriage,
holidays and the geography is different in the Bahamas than it would be in the United States. The
United States and the Bahamas are very different but very similar at the same time. Marriage is
different all around the world. The way people are married differs due to religion, cultures, and

Creating and Managing Effective Teams
Creating and Managing Effective Teams Managing a team of people can be tricky, but it can be even
harder when those people come from different areas in the workplace. Not knowing a fellow team
member can put a strain on the ability to work together, but with the proper training, and management
skills, any team can accomplish the goals set for them. For this exercise I was asked to select a team of
people to search for innovative ideas that would put the automaker on the leading edge . I selected
Petra Diodorus as the Assessor Advisor, Amrita Choudhury as the Creator, Marcell Collins as the

The next problem I had to address was when the team felt that Amrita was trying to force her ideas
onto everyone else. Before being appointed to the team, she had been designing her own ideas for a
line of automobiles, now at every meeting she is trying to push those ideas onto the other team
members, instead of seeking out innovating ideas, like they were tasked to do in the beginning. The
team has used a few of her ideas, but they know for the team to succeed, they will have to probe deep
into the auto making industry to find the best ideas possible. I would address the issue as a team, let
her know that we appreciate her ideas, and that she will get recognition for those ideas we use, but let
her know that we still need move forward with the program. Giving Amrita the recognition she is
seeking as a reward would make her feel as if she did help the team, while also giving her exposure in
the design field. Once the group was back on track, the next roadblock to hit the team was groupthink.
They had started to rule out ideas that might have been just a little risky, but could have put them on
the leading edge of the industry. Trying to inspire them to start thinking as individuals again, and get
their creativity flowing again I decided to use a Devil s advocate session. I told the team that they
should take away questions and concerns from this meeting, but that it is not an attack on the team, it
is just a way to get them thinking

Romeo And Juliet s Unlucky Relationships
The iconic play of Romeo and Juliet has been widely known for years due to its portrayal of love at its
absolute worst. Some may believe that Romeo and Juliet s unlucky relationship matches closely with
modern day love affairs but the opposite is true, the difference between this Shakespearian tragedy and
modern day relationships is as clear as day and Romeo and Juliet s tragic end and age prove this. Even
how the star crossed lovers met set them up for failure. It is common for couples to drift apart,
whether it be by their own will or death s harsh toll, but it is unlikely for a relationship to end in
suicide, let alone two. Even if your husband or wife were to meet a tragic end, of course, the other

heroes while others have a more destructive or violent ways to get the job done, no matter what kind
of damage they have done to the community which makes them more of a villain. They are mostly
heroes with a more violent way to get things done, but some of them are more villainous then the
other. The anti hero is a common character archetype for the antagonist that has been around since the
comedies and tragedies of Greek theater. Unlike the traditional hero who is morally upright and
steadfast, the anti hero usually has a flawed moral character.

My Summary of Why deaf people sneeze silently In Why deaf people sneeze silently Emma Tracey
explains how different certain actions such as sneezing and laughing are for deaf people. The author
brings up examples of countries with different languages to explain how deaf people view the world.
For example, deaf people aren t exposed to the noises that the people in their country make when they
sneeze and so when the deaf sneeze they sneeze without any influence. Another example is that the
laughter of the deaf is described as obvious and easily identified but more varied than the typical
laughter of hearing people (Tracey, Deaf ). Altogether, deaf people see the world differently than other

Contract Law Restricts Third Party Users Of Suing A...
Ultramares Privity of contract law restricts third party users of suing a professional. This law,
however, has narrow scope and therefore new methods have emerged in order to protect third party
users. The first test is called the Ultramares test. Under this test, the third party must be a foreseeable
user of the information provided by the accountant. First the CPA must know the name of the party
using the information, the purpose, the extent of use, and the client intents to deliver this information
primarily to the third party. In this case the CPA was not aware of the name of any third party user, but
knew the end users would be investors, he knew that it would be used for an IPO since he audited the
financials used in the registration statement. As a result, a judge would must likely find the CPA liable,
however since he did not know the names of the third party, that can serve as a defense. For the
second part of the engagement, investors who lost money in anticipation of the merger are not a proper
plaintiff under Ultramares. The CPA did not know the name of the third party, or if the clients would
provide hat information primarily to investors. Prosser Bank is also not a proper plaintiff under
Ultramares due to the CPA being unaware of the name, extent of use, or if the bank was the primary
user. Furthermore, the CPA firm conducts business in Florida, where the Ultramares law is not used by
state. Instead Florida adopted the Restatement 3rd Sec. 552, which is

Simulation Based Teaching Of Fluid Balance Interpretation...
Simulation Based teaching of fluid balance interpretation and prescription of intravenous fluids
Problem Identification Interpretation of the fluid balance of hospitalized patients and prescription of
intravenous fluids is one of the core clinical skills required for the practice of medicine in almost
every specialty. Failure to follow the best practice guidelines can result in increased morbidity and
mortality in cases of under prescription, over prescription or from prescribing the wrong type of fluids
as highlighted in the National Confidential Enquiry into Patient Outcome and Death (NCEPOD)
report about the perioperative mortality 1999. [1] The report emphasized on the importance of fluid
prescription and recommended that it should be considered as important as drug prescription. National
guidelines exist for the best practice regarding this matter where it reports that about 20 % of patients
receiving IV fluids suffer an unwanted effect , additionally those guidelines are supported by local
protocols within the individual NHS institutes. Moreover, most trusts employ a NICE lead for the
implementation of the fluid prescription guidelines in addition to supervising an ongoing auditing
process to evaluate local practices. [2]. Despite the importance of the issue and the resources allocated
to the topic; the task of fluid prescribing is often left to the least trained members of staff to perform,
such as the foundation trainees with very limited training in the subject.

Why does the majority of American consumers fall prey to the propaganda of advertisements, which

audience by using television, radios, social media, or street posters. In the article Propaganda
Techniques in Today s advertising, Ann McClintock describes different types advertising techniques in
her essay that are used currently by the advertisers and by the politicians. The most efficient and
useful propaganda that are used by contemporary advertising companies and politicians are glittering

Nowadays most politicians are using false messages that are deeply attached to our feelings, but it

How Art Can Be Considered Many Things
Art can be considered many things. It can be considered a sculpture, a painting, a song, a movie, but it
could also be considered a carefully thought out plan.
Art lives through time, and among the criteria of what constitutes the best in Art is that it refuses to be
forgotten. Da Vinci s Mona Lisa , Van Gogh s Starry Night , or even Campbell s Soup Cans by Warhol
have not, as of yet, been forgotten. Much like memorials, which are made with the intention of living
through time by depicting a singular, particular moment of history. Art aims to be remembered, not
forgotten. But memorials, unlike art, tend to commemorate horrific events, tragedies, and losses
almost exclusively. Consider the USS Arizona Memorial, the Lincoln Memorial, ... Show more

Time Management Strengths And Weaknesses
Makena Kane College Recommendation Brag Sheet
Academic Strengths
Time Management: I am a film producer, and the most important quality is being a good time
manager. On sets, the producer is the one who keeps everyone on task and to schedule. Having good
time oriented brain has led me to be more proactive in my studies and outside activities. Actually,
having anxiety is one of the helpful factors in making me keep on top of deadlines. By being so on top
of time, I have never turned in homework late due to how my anxiety does prevent me from
procrastinating.
Adaptive: Being at an art school, and the fact that I have moved about 8 times in my life, I have
learned to be very adaptive. No matter the situation, location, or people I am with, I will be able to
work and figure out the problem. This has helped in times like my 64 Film Festival, where we have to
film a 7 minute film over a weekend. I have to adapt to where we film and what the script is like to
make schedules, and problems happen at a moment s notice. Without being able to adapt, I would not
have be capable of producing now 3 (successful, might I add) films in this festival.
Critical Thinking: One of my best academic strengths I believe is how much I am a critical thinker.
When working on group projects especially, I am usually the one who plans the structure of what is
happening and the best way to achieve the ultimate goal. I have a very analytical mindset, where I
work best with organized to do lists, making it

Before Breakfast is a short gloomy play by Eugene O Neill. Eugene O Neill was born in 1888 in New

Breakfast is set in the Greenwich Village section of New York City, in a small one room flat on
Christopher Street. The flat consists of a kitchen and dinning area. There are only two characters in
this drama. Mrs. Roland who is the only speaking character and her husband Alfred. Alfred s hand is

His depression contributes to a self destructive lifestyle, dragging his wife along with him. It was

Mrs. Rowland, the protagonist, is portrayed as the stereotypical nagging wife. While a flat character,
she is very realistic. Her level of diction implies her lack of education, she is also bitter towards her
husband. Her bitterness is not unfounded. Alfred is of no help, Heaven knows I do my part and more
going out sewing every day while you play the gentleman and loaf around bar rooms with that good

subfertility duration was 28.3 ± 7.4 years, 29.1 ± 2.7 kg/m2, and 21.9 ± 7.1 months, respectively.
About 53% of our patients (n = 66) had bilateral varicocele, and unilateral disease was found in the
other 57 (46.3%) cases. Varicocele grade I was diagnosed in 42 (34.1%) patients, while the other 81
(65.9%) patients had grade II or III. Higher grades of varicocele, preoperative total testosterone level,
sperm density, and progressive motility had a statistically significant impact on the outcome of
varicocelectomy in univariate testing. Multivariate logistic analysis revealed that grade of preoperative
varicocele (95% confidence interval [CI] 5.6 6.3, p = 0.007) and sperm density (95% CI 2.7 1.6, p =
0.0035), and progressive motility (95% CI 1.1 2.3, p = 0.0123) are independent predictors of semen
parameters improvement after varicocelectomy. Conclusion: The grade of the varicocele, sperm
density, and

After thanksgiving Dinner me and my cousin left the house and wear racing each other .Me and my
cousin love to run and then we saw a stack of leaves and we both did a run start to hit the leaves. My
cousin hit the stack of leaves first then I hit then the ground opened up and me and him both fell in.
We slid down a narrow and we wear falling for an hour and then we hit the bottom .Me and my cousin

cousin went to explore the place it was pretty cool. At first but then we found this room it looked like
it was a dungeon room it had achene runes and some turkey looking thing in chains and. Next to it was
some animal like aliens from space thing it looked like it was still alive but it was breathing weirdly
and it just kept looking down. (2 hours later) This thing looked up at me and my cousin and stared
right at me then it changed and looked like me my cousin said it s probably a space shape shifter thing.
cousin it s looking at us and it s just copying our looks and stuff and it just sat there but then it was

(8 hours later) Me and my cousin went searching again in the place and we found some not so old but
a 20 day old thing of cooked steak it was pretty good and we went back to that

Physics Of Pitching Essay
In the 2014 season, Aroldis Chapman threw twice as many 100+ mph fastballs than the rest of the
league combined. While normal pitchers stride 87% of their height, Chapman strides 120% of his
height (6 4 ), or 7 and ½ feet. Striding is directly related to pitch velocity because of the momentum
that is created during striding.
Pitching, it is said, to be the most difficult position on the baseball field. There are lots of different
things happening to the pitcher s body when pitching. For example, Lizabeth Hardman states When
pitching a baseball, the created momentum is transferred through the pitcher s body movements. When
momentum is transferred from a larger object, (the pitcher) to a smaller object (the baseball), it causes

The delivery that comes with the baseball is important too. For instance, Hardman states When the
ball is spinning forward as it moves, the pitcher is said to have topspin on it. When this happens,
another principle of physics, Bernoulli s principle, comes to play. Bernoulli s principle says that the
faster air moves over the surface of an object, the less pressure the air puts on the object. When a ball
has topspin on it, the top of the ball is moving in the opposite direction from the flow of the air
(relative to the direction of the ball) but the bottom of the ball is moving the same direction as the flow
of the air. This creates drag on the top of the ball, and less on the bottom. (Hardman, 2011) In addition,
physics play a big part in one s body when pitching a baseball. According to Mechanics of Throwing,
When one throws a baseball properly they are using their entire body to generate a large force to
propel the baseball. The torque in the arm comes from all the forces in their body working together
and acting on the arm. During the loading phase of throwing, one s

China s Transition Economy Essay examples
China s transition from a planned economy to a market economy began at the end of 1978. When
China started the process, the government did not have a well designed blueprint , and so the approach
to reform can be characterized as experimental. The process of reform has been gradual and
incremental in nature and is still incomplete. In fact, China can t be treated as a full market economy
nor can it be treated as a centrally planned economy in which the Government substantially influences
prices of goods or monopolises international trade. It is somewhere in between.
Reform measures:
1) The introduction of enterprise taxation.
2) The new wage system which linked with the productivity of workers (this would give workers
incentive to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Trade was monopolised by centrally controlled Foreign Trade Corporations, under the control of the
central Government ministries. Other trade was not permitted.
Also, exports had state controlled prices set by the Foreign Trade Corporations under the foreign trade
plan. Similarly, imports were sold to domestic firms and consumers at state controlled prices.
Fortunately, the trade regime has been significantly liberalised. China s Open Door policy has
dramatically reversed the self sufficient position of pre 1978, welcoming foreign investment and trade.
Increasingly, China s imports and exports are being determined by market forces. The ratio of imports
and exports to Gross Domestic Product is 42:100 and China is now the 10th largest trading nation.
Formal trade planning has been abolished, but a number of central foreign trade corporations and large
state owned enterprises have been given selective monopoly powers to export and import strategic
commodities (important resources that China had to ensure a steady supply of). This process has been
termed as canalisation by the World Bank (1994).
These commodities, shown in the table, represented approximately 4.6% of China s exports and
19.4% of imports in

A Common Understanding Of Weather Menace
1. What is fog? A common understanding of this weather menace must be established before delving
into its dangers. Layman s terms suggest that fog is a low hovering cloud which limits the visibility at
ground level in a wide variety of intensity. From personal experience, fog may prevent you from
locating your own home, or may simply cause the air to feel moist. Fog forms when the difference
between air temperature and dew point is generally less than 4 °F. Fog begins to form when water
vapor condenses into tiny liquid water droplets suspended in the air, usually also clinging to pollutants
or naturally occurring particles (ex: dust, salt, etc.) Water vapor is added to the air by: wind
convergence into areas of upward direction, precipitation, daytime heating which evaporates water
from the surface of large bodies of water, oceans or wetlands; transpiration from plants, cool or dry air
moving over warmer water, and lifting air over mountains. Think of fog as a lower rendition of the
cloud form stratus; meaning it is a lower deck that occurs when a cool air mass is confined under a
warm air mass. 2. Different types of fogs? Foggiest place in the United States? Fog can form in many
ways dependent on what caused the cooling and how the condensation occurred. The most common
form of fog, Radiation fog, is fashioned by the cooling of terrain after sun down by thermal radiation
when wind conditions are relatively calm and cloud cover is at a minimum. The cooling ground
produces

  • 2. Oral Culture Of The Late Middle Ages Given the prevalence of books, magazines, and newspapers in everyday life today, it is difficult to imagine a world without print. The transition from the essentially oral culture of the late Middle Ages to the print culture of the Renaissance fundamentally changed human interaction. In Western society, the invention of the printing press and subsequent widespread literacy signaled the shift away from a primarily oral culture to a literate, print culture. Many scholars, including Plato and Harold Innis, have suggested that the advantages of an oral culture exceed those of a print culture. Even further, the past few decades have seen calls to orality, or propositions that we must return to oral culture to balance print culture. As seen through a lens of the history of print culture, the benefits of literacy and a predominantly print culture outweigh the benefits of an oral culture because of the impact print has had on standardized language and national consciousness, the field of science and accuracy, and the quick dissemination of information and dialogue. Through a comparison of advancements during the Print Revolution and current features of modern society, I will argue that there is no need to re embrace orality because elements of oral culture already exist in our modern print culture. The Print Revolution was marked by the invention of the printing press and growing industrial capitalism in Europe. The idea of capitalism enabled publishers to seek mass markets for ... The movie s a rare cinematic do over an opportunity to re enter a flawed story (the one told in 2012 s Snow White and the Huntsman) with the intention of salvaging the tiny bits that worked the first time, while also course correcting and removing the parts the audience deemed unnecessary. Only, that doesn t happen. This peculiar, hybrid prequel/sequel commits the same mistakes as its predecessor, and ends up being as shapeless, nondescript and unimaginative as Snow Whitewas... only this time, they don t have Kristen Stewart to blame. So, what went wrong? As far as I can tell, the producers miscalculated just how interesting Chris Hemsworth s rugged fairy tale warrior, Eric, was, or could be. His character in Snow White was neither a love interest nor a savior. Machiavelli meticulously describes and outlines his ideas of what essential Prince qualities are, hoping that someone who reads them will follow his words and turn them into actions. The ability to see, hear, or become aware of something through one of the five senses (Kandel, Schwartz, Jessell, 2000). In other words, it is the process of interpreting and organizing sensory information. Perception must be understood according to figure ground, similarity, proximity, continuity, and other organizing principles. At work in the interpretation of sensory stimuli are other perceptual phenomena such as perceptual constancy, a phenomenon which occurs in the perception of size, shape, color, and brightness; depth perception, another phenomenon based on binocular and monocular cues; and the perception of motion (Wood, 2008). One of the brain s primary functions is to obtain biologically important information from the various sensory inputs. The brain of a human is provided with sufficient information about a variety of things such as light, sound, the atmosphere s chemical composition, temperature, and things such as head orientation, limb position, the chemical composition of the bloodstream, among other things. Specialized sensors project signals into the brain when they detect sensory modalities. Light sensitive neurons in the retina of the eye, vibration sensitive neurons in the cochlea of the ear, along with the pressure sensitive neurons in the skin are all specialized receptor cells of which each sensory system begins with. • 7. Six Characteristics Of Religion 1) Define religion in terms of its six characteristics sacred, myth, ritual, community, morality, and religious leaders and explain the possible relations among them. Religion can be defined with six characteristics: Sacred, myth, ritual, community, morality, and religious leaders. The first concept of religion is sacred, which is the idea that religion binds individuals and communities together. Myth is not the conventional definition we think of rather a much deeper concept. Myth is derived from the Greek word of mythos and is defined as a story that ties and binds humans into a powerful story about their destiny and origins. These stories, however, have profound truths behind life and should not be confused with fake stories. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Their role is critical in terms of explaining and in some cases performing these rituals to members of their community. Historically, rank and file members could not read these sacred texts and therefore relied on a religious expert/leader to interpret and explain the context of these texts. 2) What are the problems in knowing and understanding the religions that existed before the development of written language? Oral recitation isn t necessarily the best method to preserve religious text since errors may arise and alter the original meaning of a certain concept or idea. Although individuals with these stories and traditions may be able to preserve them through oral recitation, the generations after them may not be as effective. Furthermore, the interpretation could be different without having written text as one word could derail the original intent of a story and/or tradition. Nevertheless, these stories (myths) and traditions could be preserved through song and dance. Additionally, oral language changes as a result of the inclusion of other more complex languages. As a result, it becomes incredibly difficult to expand one s religion as other languages are created. Therefore, the comprehension of religions lacks cultural development without written language since it was only exclusively known to a small group of people. 3) What is the ... This service satisfies the need and desire for a clean car to take clients out with, after it was dirtied by a tough winter. I compared prices for similar car detailing services, and asked around for referrals from several people. Of the two companies, one was recommended strongly. I saw examples of each work and agreed with the highly recommended company. In my opinion, the cost at the time was fair value and, compared to other detailers, was market value. The prices were advertised for a year without any price increase. The second example of justifying a value is when purchasing products from Starbucks Coffee. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Pickering Emulsion Pickering Emulsions: Particles with a difference Pickering Emulsion is an emulsion stabilised by solid particles located on the interface between two phases. This type of emulsion was named after S.U. Pickering, who described the phenomenon in 1907, although the effect was first recognized by Walter Ramsden in 1903Pickering emulsion utilizes solid particles alone as stabilizers, which accumulate at the interface between two immiscible liquids (typically denoted as oil and water phase) and stabilize droplets against coalescence. Solid particles are used as stabilisers due to various advantages: (i)solid particles reduce the possibility of coalescence, bringing about higher stability to emulsions; (ii) many solid particles can endow as prepared materials useful characteristics such as conductivity, responsiveness, porosity, and so on; (iii) some food grade solid particles have lower toxicity, thus leading to higher safety for in vivo usage. • 23. Metaphors In Shakespeare s Works Shakespeare s work is among the hardest to read because of its supposed complexity and sophistication. The language used in the Early Modern Era is different than that of the Post Modern Era. Audiences that saw the performances were aural learners and were able to pinpoint certain tones and facial expressions that readers may not detect through words. Watching the plays performed provided better feedback than readings do (Palfrey 10 11). Metaphors, implicit or explicit, are figures of speech that help compare two unlike things and are not designed for literal intake. Yet, with Shakespeare s work, metaphors should be taken literally. According to George Lakoff and Mark Johnson, however, this technique of comparison allows metaphors to simultaneously highlight and hide certain attributes and/or qualities about the thing(s) being compared to (12 13). The highlighting and hiding of metaphors gives readers more insight into what Shakespeare may have meant at the time or even more so in what context did the people of the Elizabethan Age use language (Palfrey 11). Two important components of metaphors that do the highlighting and hiding are the vehicle and the tenor; each can be implicit or explicit as well. The metaphor in question emphasizes both the importance and unimportance of Lavinia s character. Shakespeare s work is littered with metaphors; some which require careful reading to pick up on, while others are easily detectable. Simon Palfrey states that Shakespeare s ... (8 hours later) Me and my cousin went searching again in the place and we found some not so old but a 20 day old thing of cooked steak it was pretty good and we went back to that ... • 45. Physics Of Pitching Essay In the 2014 season, Aroldis Chapman threw twice as many 100+ mph fastballs than the rest of the league combined. While normal pitchers stride 87% of their height, Chapman strides 120% of his height (6 4 ), or 7 and ½ feet. Striding is directly related to pitch velocity because of the momentum that is created during striding. Pitching, it is said, to be the most difficult position on the baseball field. There are lots of different things happening to the pitcher s body when pitching. For example, Lizabeth Hardman states When pitching a baseball, the created momentum is transferred through the pitcher s body movements. When momentum is transferred from a larger object, (the pitcher) to a smaller object (the baseball), it causes the smaller ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The delivery that comes with the baseball is important too. For instance, Hardman states When the ball is spinning forward as it moves, the pitcher is said to have topspin on it. When this happens, another principle of physics, Bernoulli s principle, comes to play. Bernoulli s principle says that the faster air moves over the surface of an object, the less pressure the air puts on the object. When a ball has topspin on it, the top of the ball is moving in the opposite direction from the flow of the air (relative to the direction of the ball) but the bottom of the ball is moving the same direction as the flow of the air. This creates drag on the top of the ball, and less on the bottom. (Hardman, 2011) In addition, physics play a big part in one s body when pitching a baseball. According to Mechanics of Throwing, When one throws a baseball properly they are using their entire body to generate a large force to propel the baseball. The torque in the arm comes from all the forces in their body working together and acting on the arm. During the loading phase of throwing, one s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. China s Transition Economy Essay examples China s transition from a planned economy to a market economy began at the end of 1978. When China started the process, the government did not have a well designed blueprint , and so the approach to reform can be characterized as experimental. The process of reform has been gradual and incremental in nature and is still incomplete. In fact, China can t be treated as a full market economy nor can it be treated as a centrally planned economy in which the Government substantially influences prices of goods or monopolises international trade. It is somewhere in between. Reform measures: 1) The introduction of enterprise taxation. 2) The new wage system which linked with the productivity of workers (this would give workers incentive to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Trade was monopolised by centrally controlled Foreign Trade Corporations, under the control of the central Government ministries. Other trade was not permitted. Also, exports had state controlled prices set by the Foreign Trade Corporations under the foreign trade plan. Similarly, imports were sold to domestic firms and consumers at state controlled prices. Fortunately, the trade regime has been significantly liberalised. China s Open Door policy has dramatically reversed the self sufficient position of pre 1978, welcoming foreign investment and trade. Increasingly, China s imports and exports are being determined by market forces. The ratio of imports and exports to Gross Domestic Product is 42:100 and China is now the 10th largest trading nation. Formal trade planning has been abolished, but a number of central foreign trade corporations and large state owned enterprises have been given selective monopoly powers to export and import strategic commodities (important resources that China had to ensure a steady supply of). This process has been termed as canalisation by the World Bank (1994). These commodities, shown in the table, represented approximately 4.6% of China s exports and 19.4% of imports in ... • 47. A Common Understanding Of Weather Menace 1. What is fog? A common understanding of this weather menace must be established before delving into its dangers. Layman s terms suggest that fog is a low hovering cloud which limits the visibility at ground level in a wide variety of intensity. From personal experience, fog may prevent you from locating your own home, or may simply cause the air to feel moist. Fog forms when the difference between air temperature and dew point is generally less than 4 °F. Fog begins to form when water vapor condenses into tiny liquid water droplets suspended in the air, usually also clinging to pollutants or naturally occurring particles (ex: dust, salt, etc.) Water vapor is added to the air by: wind convergence into areas of upward direction, precipitation, daytime heating which evaporates water from the surface of large bodies of water, oceans or wetlands; transpiration from plants, cool or dry air moving over warmer water, and lifting air over mountains. Think of fog as a lower rendition of the cloud form stratus; meaning it is a lower deck that occurs when a cool air mass is confined under a warm air mass. 2. Different types of fogs? Foggiest place in the United States? Fog can form in many ways dependent on what caused the cooling and how the condensation occurred. The most common form of fog, Radiation fog, is fashioned by the cooling of terrain after sun down by thermal radiation when wind conditions are relatively calm and cloud cover is at a minimum. The cooling ground produces ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
