1.Introduction
The idea of this project is to understand the component and elements of a
town and what makes a better liveable future town. We may pretend as a mayor of
the “X” town. The people in “X” town require a new town because of reasons that it
is too crowded. As a mayor we will need to propose a new layout for the new “X”
Town very quickly.
I have to create a town that are liveavle and sustainable. We have to consider
many thing for example what’s the problem of a town on an island, the design of
grid, the zoning, transportation and others.
This project is to let us to expose the elements of the natural and built
environment in their basic unit, form and function. It also to question, analyses and
articulate the impact between natural and built environment. This are how it related
to this subject.

3.Investigation & Data Collection:
Ancient towns
Lijiang Ancient Town
(Located in Lijiang city, Yunnan, China)
History
The town has a history going back about 800 years.
It was a confluence for trade along the old tea horse road. The town was registered
on the UNESCO World Heritage List on December 4, 1997.
The government are taking more responsibility on development and protection of
the old town.
I am concentrating on the ancient town that are an attraction point of tourism
today.
The significant information about the town?
 It was once a confluence for trade along the old tea horse road.
 It perfectly adapted to the uneven topography of this key commercial and
strategic site
 It possesses an ancient water-supply system of great complexity and
ingenuity that still functions effectively today.
 Tourism attraction place
Conclusion
This town have a good attraction value for tourism and it have a good development
and good protection by the government today. A town should have good
government and service so it can be sustainable.
Idea for my new town
 Have a good government management so that my town will run very well like
Lijiang Town
 A good water-supply system like what Lijiang Town did, that can function
effectively even after many years.
 Have good tourism attraction point and also good manage for tourism

4.Investigation & Data Collection:
Present Towns
Yamba Town
(Located in northern New South Wales, Australia)
History
The first European to visit the area was Matthew Flinders, who stopped by in
Yamba Bay for six days in July 1799. From the 1970s Yamba's appeal as a holiday
resort started to impact on the people of both New South Wales and Southern

of energy and water
 Maybe the design of zoning
 Take some idea the overall design ( some part )

6.The Joyful Town
How did I came up with the solution to create this new town?
The Idea I came up to create my new town are from many way : the case study
from ancient/present and future town ( some idea from there), some of the idea I
came up from my mind by thinking how to make a better town, and also from
others subject’s assignment for example Constructed Landscape ( idea of
sustainable ). Also some idea from game (sim city).
What I will consider in my town?
 With a good tourism base like a good local beach or a sky resort.
 The size of the local population and whether the location has been
incorporated or has a local seat of government.
 Good sense of community such as decent schools or social events.
 Having enough attractions and jobs to keep the young there.
 Easy transportation
 Good green idea
 Good management of water and waste
The important elements:
• Recreational Park
• Police Station
• Road
• Line for train
• Beach
• Waterfront
• Theme park
• Resort
• Bridges
• Bicycle path
• Schools
• Hospital
• Clinic
• Firefighting service
• Government building
Will have some additional structure or facilities

The important characteristic and element of my town:
I will create a beach at the front of my town so that it can attract more tourist.
Beach is always a good attraction point for tourist. Beside that I will have resort
beside the beach too so that tourist can live there and enjoy the high star and good
service. My sustainable idea is also the important characteristic of my town. For
example “green roof”, vacuum bin at residential area, more bicycle path. I have
two recreational park in my town and most of it covered with green.
Aim of my town:
My aim of town will be tourism. Town economy strongly based on tourism. And also
small part of fishing industry.
My town will have tourism
attraction point for example:
beach, theme park
(something like sunway
lagoon), Resort, Hotel,
Recreational Park, Street for
buying (souvenirs)
My idea of town will be half of
it on land half on it on the sea.
So finishing industry also a
small part of aim of my town
My idea of town will be half of
it on land half on it on the sea.
So finishing industry also a
small part of aim of my town
My town’s seafood also one of the
attraction of tourism

Transportation of my town:
Also include small amount of cars.
Transportation Line:
The reason I want to have more
bicycle path is because I want to
make my town a sustainable town ( all the shuttle bus and car will be bio-gas )
My town’s transportation will
mostly be bicycle ( so that it will be
more aim on my “green idea” and
also can let tourist or local people to
experience the feeling of bicycling
through the town )
Will also provide free shuttle buses
run through the town ( easy for
tourist to visit the town )
Ship or boat for tourist come to my
town ( on island ) [ they can enjoy
on the ship when on the way to my
town ] so I will have a port
“Green line” for railway train
(Underground).Three layer at this
line first layer on top for walking
and bicycle path, second layer for
shuttle bus and car “Red line” two layer at this line
( First layer on top for walking and
bicycle path, second layer for
shuttle bus and car

Type of my town
A town on an island
Easy for tourism industry and also fishing industry
Suitable for my idea of town
It will benefit the resident through tourism industry and finishing industry
( mainly income ) , away from big city ( better quality of air ) and also
relax lifestyle
Grid of my town:
Because its look nicer and also easier to apply
(Suitable for my idea of town)
Radial grid will more suitable for my town because it is walkable (so that tourist or
local people can easily go through the town ) if with other grid will very
complicated.
It is navigable (the circle grid give you immediate senses where you are in the
Town so you will not lost)
If a hexagon grid compare with radial grid, radial grid is better because
hexagon grid is too complicated for me

Zoning
The resort is
located at here
because it is near
beach and also the
sea ( good view )
Electrical industrial,It is near the
sea so that easy to use the sea
water to generate electricity
( hydro station )
(Water supply industrial) It is near
the sea so that easy to collect the
sea water
Transportation Central at
the middle easy for people
to go everywhere
Recreational area and public space
are near the beach so that it is easy
for tourist to go there
Industrial located near the sea
because most of it are fishing
industrial
Commercial area at the middle

Sustainable idea of my town
1. Vacuum bin ( this is how it work underground from the bin to the recycling
central ) the pipe will suck all the rubbish to the central.
2. Using the sea water to generate electric
3. “Green roof” idea on all the housing and building

4. Using wind turbine to generate electric also
5. Solar panel on all of the housing’s roof
6. Rain harvesting system apply on all the housing and building

7.Conclusion
Conclusion I will create a town that are focus on tourism and small part of
fishing industrial. I will have tourism focus point and also some sustainable
idea for my town. Town I create will bring liveable, sustainable and happy to
people.
In this I learned really much especially how to create a town, what should
consider in a town for example zoning, how to choose grid, and also how to
draw master plan. My drawing skill also improve in this assignment because
we need to draw many thing (zoning plan, master plan, perspective)
We should create a town that are sustainable with more green idea so that
our earth will be nicer.
