Aqueous solution
• One or more drug dissolve in water.
Capsule:
• Powder or gel form of drug encased in a hard or soft outer
casing that dissolves in the stomach or powders drugs or
liquids within gelatin container.
Caplet
• Tablet coated with gelatin that gets dissolve in stomach.
Emulsion:
• Drug in which one liquid is spread by means of small
droplet over another liquid of fat globules in water or water
globules in fat.
Enteric coated tablet
• Tablet coated with substance that block absorption of drug,
until it reaches to small intestine.
Lotion:
• Drugs in liquid suspension intended for external use.
Ointment:
• Semisolid preparation of drug that applied and absorb by
skin.
Paste:
• Semisolid form of drug, thick or stiff than ointment that is
applied to and absorb by skin. But penetrates the skin less
than ointment.
Patch:
• Drug encased in a manufactured material that allows
continuous drug absorption through skin at steady rate.
Pill:
• Drug in powder form mixed in a cohesive material. These
are single dose unit made by mixing powdered drug with
liquid such as syrup and rolling the mixture intro round or
oval shape.
POWDER

Plaster
• Solid preparation used as a counter-irritants or as a
adhesive externally.
Suppository
• A drug or several drug mixed in firm base such as
glycerinate gelatin and shaped for insert into body cavities

Syrup
• Drug dissolve in a solution containing water and sugar,
often used to disguise unpleasant taste of drugs and
smoothen the irritated membrane .
