The American Dream In William Fitzgerald s Life Of Willy...
Throughout the course of the two books, Willy and Gatsby encounter many societal expectations. One
societal expectation that Willy and Gatsby both share is the fact that from the outside, they both look
like they have achieved their American dream. Gatsby had the big house and all of the money he could
possibly need in life. According to society, that is all you would need in life. There was one thing that
Gatsby was missing, that was having a family. He was working on that thought, and that is why he
bought his house where it was because it was right across the river from Daisy s house. He was able to
look over at her house and see the green light. From an outsider s perspective looking into the life of
Gatsby, he had a pretty good life, unlike what Willy s life is seen as. Society was expecting them to
make money to support their families, have a nice house and have a steady income. Willy wanted to
have a life like that, but it was hard to achieve.Because society was changing so rapidly, he wasn t
able to keep up with the changes and adapt to the way the world was changing. People began to shop
in stores and weren t relying on door to door salesmen for their shopping. The market for salesmen
was changing and Willy wouldn t change to keep up with society. Willy was a good salesman but,
there were changing and it didn t matter how good of a salesman you are. Willy looked up at their
neighbor and family friend, Charley because he had his American dream. Charley was a

Abstinence-Only Education In Texas
Abstinence only education . Every person has the right of balanced sex education, if they want.
Abstinence only education is not the correct approach in Texas, because the programs ignore youth s
basic human right and the fundamental public health principle of accurate information, they advocate
contraceptive use and does not emphasize their failure rates, and virginity pledges do not delay the
beginning of sexual activity. American birth rates are lower than ever, unless you re in Texas. The state
s high teen birthrate has sparked debate about sex education in state, because observers believe that
the high teenage birthrate is an indication that the states abstinence only approach to sex education ...

The constant pressure that the Texas government apply on the teenage population about sex before
marriage makes them think that their only solution when a teenage girl gets pregnant is abortion.
Abortion is legal and accessible in Texas, and the majority of Texas metropolitan areas have abortion
clinics. This kind of education would work better if the state chooses to teach about contraception
methods, and the importance of abstinence. The only proven method for reducing pregnancy and
sexually transmitted disease, the studies say, is to combine the abstinence message with one that
teaches young people how to protect themselves against pregnancy and disease . However, the state
opposes to teach about contraception because they do not want to give the impression that the state
supports premarital sex. This conclusion from the Texas government is completely awful, because if
the state teaches the teenage population about the importance and usage of contraception methods
many teenage pregnancies could be prevented. Contraception can be extremely effective at preventing
unwanted pregnancies when it is used consistently and correctly. Abstinence only is not a realistic
approach for everyone, because what about those teenagers that have been sexually assaulted

Titanium Research Paper
I chose titanium because it is a very common element and is used for many purposes.
Titanium was discovered in 1791 by amateur geologist, William Gregor, as an inclusion of a mineral
in Cornwall, Great Britain. Gregor recognized there was a new element present in Ilmenite, when he
found black sand by a stream and noticed the sand was attracted by a magnet. He determined the
presence of two metal oxides: iron oxide and 45.25% of a white metallic oxide that was unidentifiable.
After realizing that the unidentified oxide contained a metal that did not match any known element,
Gregor reported his findings to the Royal Geological Society Titanium is composed of 22 protons, 26
neutrons, and 22 electrons. Titanium has 8 isotopes, 5 are stable and 3 are unstable. Isotopes from Ti
46 to Ti 50 are stable isotopes, Ti 44, Ti 45, and Ti 51 are unstable isotopes. Electron configuration of

The most common mineral sources of titanium are ilmenite, rutile, and titanite. Titanium is also
obtained from iron ore slags. Slag is an earthy material that floats to the top when iron is removed
from iron ore by melting it down. Titanium is part of the metals class of elements. Metals are good
conductors of heat and electricity, most metals are malleable and can be flattened into thin sheets,
most metals are ductile and can be turned into wires, metals possess a metallic luster, metals are
opaque as thin sheets, and metals are solid at room temperature (except Mercury). Titanium exists in a
solid state at room temperature and is very brittle. Titanium is very unreactive and is resistant to
oxygen, acids, chlorine, and other corrosive agents. Titanium gets more reactive at high temperatures
and can also catch fire when exposed to oxygen. Pure titanium can exist

Taxation Essay
In America, the powerful and wealthy are able to abuse the taxation system to their benefit, and this
paper will demonstrate how this is done and the solutions to those problems, as well as refute the
opposition. America has had it s moments of glory and triumph yet also it s moments of failure and
loss. However, it seems nearly impossible to predict an economic recession or a war, so one can never
know when tough times are approaching. Currently, America is in the second longest period of stock
market growth, ever. The natural conclusion, then, is that the economy here is healthy and strong, and
that this growth will continue. Unfortunately, however, America s stock market is in for a correction
sooner or later, because the wealth and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While the maximum tax rate on normal income is 39.6%, the maximum tax rate on capital gains,
which is how many investors become rich, is 20%( How are capital gains taxed? ). In fact, investor
and billionaire Warren Buffett said that in his taxes, he Pays a lower rate than his secretary (HOAR).
Does it honestly make sense that a man with 77 billion dollars pays less in taxes than his secretary? It
is evident that capital gains taxed at such a low rate encourage this. The third loophole, and the
product of politicians and wealthy citizens of the state of Kansas, is a 0% tax rate on Limited Liability
Companies, or LLCs. The idea for the tax break was to give the state s economy a Shot of Adrenaline ,
and it allowed thousands of corporations to pay little in taxes. This means that those companies could
employ more people, and spend more money on research and development. So how could this be
negative? In short, it allowed individuals to form Limited Liability Companies with only a single
employee: themselves. This means that very wealthy people can organize into an LLC, and pay
nothing in income taxes, cheating the system. However, it is impractical for the poor to do the same,
as they don t have nearly as much to gain from this. According to Kansas Attorney James P. Zakoura,
This costs the state of Kansas at least $260 million in needed revenue year after year
(MONTGOMERY). The tax system in America is unfair to

Rhetorical Analysis Of Hillary Clinton s Speech
Hillary Clinton spoke at the U.N. Fourth World Conference on Women. This speech was delivered on
September fifth in Beijing, China. This conference promoted The Beijing Declaration and the
Platform for Action, which aimed to provide equal rights to women across the globe (World, n. pag.).
Clinton s speech promoting women s rights was successful because she established credibility,
addressed the abusive treatment of women around the world, logically responded to that treatment,
and provided an inspirational call to action. Clinton established ethos early on in her speech which
supported her testimony at the conference. She opened her speech by saying, I would like to thank the

She declares, when families flourish, communities and nations do as well. That is why every woman,
every man, every child, every family, and every nation on this planet does have a stake in the
discussion that takes place here (n. pag.). She begins to conclude her speech with the unifying
structure of family. To create a family, a woman must be present, each of those family compile to
create communities, and communities create nations. She uses this to explain that women help form
the base of all nations and therefore, the equal treatment of women will reflect prosperously on
countries. This supported her argument because it appealed to the diplomats in the audience that can
make changes in their various countries around the world. She brings her argument to a close with the
following remarks, The time is now. We must move beyond rhetoric. We must move beyond
recognition of problems to working together, to have the comment efforts to build that common
ground we hope to see (n. pag.). This is successful for the closing of her argument because it
specifically calls her audience to make bigger changes than what has previously been done. Speaking
on inequality and putting laws into place that supports equality for all results in much different
changes. She calls for her audience to join forces with others to truly make a difference in their own

Walmart Competitive Advantage
The Triple A strategy (172) Figure 3 Pankaj Ghemawat (2007) introduced the triple A strategy to help
better analyze the competitive advantage of a firm outside the home country. As shown in figure 2, the
framework focus on the adoption of local responsiveness, aggregation of economies of scale and
arbitrage of absolute economies under the globalization of markets. He argued that company must
allocate one or more factors as to compete globally. Walmart is achieving the three competitive
advantages simultaneously. As discussed above of the Walmart China, the company is taking the local
responsiveness as through CSR event. Secondly, Walmart also realized economies of scale by selling

The second one is about Walmart store location strategy. There are actually two elements: the location
and the price of lands. Walmart chooses carefully on locations. The first store opened in 1962 was
located in a small rural town where rilvaries are less than urban and suburban locations (Gerdeman,
2012). Then, Walmart waited until they had developed sufficient resources before they moved on to a
new store (Gerdeman, 2012). Walmart tends to have their big box store near a convenient highway
exit to improve the accessibility of their stores (Holmes, 2011). Figure 4. Diffusion of Wal Mart stores
and general distribution centers Walmart also has a dense network of stores which shown on Figure 4
(Fettiq, 2006). The density level of the Walmart stores and the distribution of their general distribution
centers work together to lower the logistic cost and facilities the transfer of experienced managers and
personnel (Fettiq, 2006). The second element is the price of land. Walmart purchases lands instead of
depending solely on lease in order to reduce rental cost (Halkias, 2012). Walmart also received
subsidies and reduced price land from local government to build new stores and distribution centers
(Mattera amp; Purinton, 2004). Therefore, Walmart is able to lower their cost and remains competitive
in the market through acquisition of lands and subsidies. Walmart has its own competitive advantages

Hizbullah, a main political party in Lebanon, is affecting the social world by promoting their

However, he used deligitimization to present every opponent as a supporter for terrorists and
highlights the cruel acts they have done. Nasrallah (2015) states we are not talking about intentions.

The Social Media Failures Of Amy s Baking Company And Bistro
The social media failures of Amy s Baking Company and Bistro For our current assignment I have
chosen Amy s Baking Company and Bistro great failure and meltdown. The question is how
everything went so very wrong so fast. The company in question is a two owner bakery, located in
Scottsdale, Arizona. On the first glance it appears to be just another bakery. However unlike many
other bakeries this one had the luck of being featured, not once but twice, in Kitchen Nightmares, a
reality show. The show is meant for teenagers and up, showcasing bad businesses in field of culinary
works and helping them to actually achieve greatness with guidance of a known chef celebrity Gordon
Ramsey. People used to say any publicity is good publicity. In modern day that no longer applies as
the internet quite literally does not forget, because there will always be a database or a screenshot
floating somewhere in cyberspace. This is where the issue lies. The owners of the business refused to
change their ways. They have outright refused to take any advice from critically acclaimed chef
Gordon Ramsey, ignored most if not all of his warnings and then proceeded to claim nothing is wrong.
They have had several major lapses of judgment on screen. What is more important however, is the
aftermath of said show. According to an article on zap2it.com, that kept the record of the TV show
ratings, the data gathered claims that the episode got 1.2 score out 5, with audience of 5 shares of

Depression In The Bell Jar
The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath follows the journey of 19 year old Esther Greenwood as she struggles to
combat her severe depression in a society that ostracizes those affected by it, and simultaneously,
attempts to conform to societal standards for women that she does not agree with. Initially, the novel
opens as Esther participates in an internship for a fashion magazine in New York City where she
begins to question her life s purpose and her previous successes due to the extreme pressures put on
young adults, as well as the pressure she puts on herself, to find occupational success early on. After
completing her internship, she returns to her hometown to live with her mother for the rest of her

Originally, I found quotes from this novel and had an interest in reading it; however, the morbid topic
stopped me from reading it at the time. This assignment provided me with an opportunity to finally
read the book which I thoroughly enjoyed due to the similarities between Esther and myself, as well as
the relevance of the themes to today s society. Especially at this time in my life as I am attempting to
find a purpose for my own life, Esther s story reflects many of my own fears. She believes she will be
a poet until she admits out loud that she [doesn t] really know, shocking herself because she knew it
was true (Plath 32). Initially, she thought she knew what she would do with her life, yet when
prompted about it, the truth reveals itself. Throughout the novel, Esther continues to search for a
purpose as numerous paths present themselves and wants each and every one of them, but she cannot
decide because choosing one meant losing all the rest (Plath 77) until finally she misses each
opportunity due to her indecisiveness. In life a person can decide to be just about anything,
nonetheless, the fear of choosing the wrong path persists, and the person s mind sabotages a chance at
happiness and fulfillment. Recently, a trend of advancement in women s role in society appeared as
women refuse to adhere to the strict, double

You can also see many fall decorations in the picture. There are artificial leaves hanging in the right

Analysis Of The Poem The Rocking Horse Winner
The obsessiveness of material things that will set the household s standard beyond of those common
people resulted in a tragedy that will forever be regretted. D.H. Lawrence wrote his idea of a modern
family in the 1900 s, The Rocking Horse Winner, in which the story is mostly between about the son
trying to win the love of his mother whose only objective was to be the first in everything by having
more money. The characters, the theme, and the author s style will give us the idea of what D.H.
Lawrence is trying to portrait in the story. The next paragraph will first show us how the author set up
the characterization of significant characters. In the beginning of the story, the first character to be
narrated was Paul s mother, Hester, who was indirectly characterized as an unlovable wife and mother.
Hester was also characterized as a materialistic person for she always wanted to have more money so
they could keep living in style. Hester s husband, whose name didn t mention, was also indirectly
characterized as a materialistic person. Hester believed that his husband is unlucky because he wasn t
rich and the she herself was unlucky too. Paul, Hester s son, is characterized as a child yearning to win
his mother s love and believed to be lucky. Because of this, he was urged to gamble with his uncle and
Bassett to make more money that he could give to his mother to win her love. According to Enotes,
Paul s frenzied pursuit of money differs from the greed of the others in that

Biodiversity And Its Impact On Biodiversity
Biodiversity is what makes the planet earth unique and different from every other planet in the solar
system. Biodiversity can be studied on a global level all the way down to studying it within a
microscopic ecosystem (National Wildlife Federation, 2015). It is important to understand that
biodiversity can be looked at genetically as well as environmentally as well. For example, genetic
biodiversity is seen in the variation of different breeds within the dog species, while environmental
biodiversity is the diversity of ecosystems and habitats (National Wildlife Federation, 2015).
Preserving biodiversity is perhaps the most important task that humans have to complete while living
on this planet. The ecosystems that make up all of the regions worldwide are immensely complex, so
conservation may be difficult at times. Additionally, many factors influence the species that inhabit
ecosystems, and these factors may complicate the preservation of biodiversity. Moreover, there is a
plethora of threats to biodiversity, both natural and manmade that are destroying ecosystems on a daily
basis. Out of these threats, the human influences are particularly severe and must be taken care of at
all costs. Biodiversity provides countless benefits for every ecosystem and creature, which is what
makes it worthy of conservation. Through the introduction and relocation of species, some degree of
restoration may be possible in the future. Biodiversity is an amazing natural process that makes life

Tragedy Of Romeo And Juliet
Romeo Juliet Critique
The Tragedy of Romeo Juliet by William Shakespeare was in the 18th century in a place called
Verona, Italy. Shakespeare illustrates about how sometimes that life can be unfair or not, but it s not
worth dying for when something bad happens to them or not. There were two young people that are
Romeo and Juliet, they fall in love when they first saw each other and later on, they get married
because it was unfair when both families hated each other when they don t want them to fall in love.
Then, when Mercutio fought Tybalt and Romeo fight Tybalt, both Mercutio and Tybalt died during the
fighting. Lastly, when Romeo and Juliet both killed themselves because when life was unfair to them.

For example, he demonstrates situational irony by when Juliet fooled everyone to think she was dead
on her wedding day but she didn t know that she fooled Romeo. The thing that makes it ironic was
that Juliet expected to fool everyone but she didn t expected to fool Romeo. For dramatic irony, when
Romeo said that he love Tybalt, but Tybalt didn t know that Romeo was married to his cousin Juliet
and being part of the family. This is dramatic irony because when Tybalt calls Romeo a villain, he
doesn t know that Romeo was part of the family. Finally the verbal irony, when Mercutio says to
Tybalt right before they fight, Look for me tomorrow and thy will find me a grave man, he means he
was serious. This is verbally ironic because when Mercutio gets into fight, he ends up getting killed by
Tybalt and literally was put in the

Benedict was born on March 2, 480 in Norcia, Italy. As a child, Benedict attended primary school in

Appalled by Rome s political issues, Benedict decided to leave the city and reside with a group of
priests. In the ministry, he preformed his first miracle. Benedict restored a broken wheat sifter to its
perfect condition. Astonished by his actions, Benedict set out to dwell in a cave isolated from society.

spreading God s love. God thanked him by saving his life on two separate occasions. The first time, a
group of monks tried to kill him because they believed his method of teaching was too strict. They
poisoned the chalice of wine, but when Benedict blessed the cup, it shattered. In the second attempt of
murder the monks poisoned his bread. However, before he could eat it a raven filched it. Despite the
attempted murder, Benedict always managed a way to battle through the difficulties. Another highly
respected trait that Benedict acquired was his ability to deny the devil. In one incident, satan tested his
chastity with the image of a beautiful woman. To prevent himself from sin, Benedict dived into a bush

St. Benedict aspired to free people from satan s evil. He traveled throughout Europe evangelizing to
those who worshiped the devil. This was a very treacherous risk, but the saint was fearless. In addition

In an interconnected world, social and economic catastrophe in one country spills over onto its
neighbours (Chauvet, et al., 2007, p. 3). Failing States are often blamed for housing terrorist groups
and transnational criminal enterprises, for the proliferation of small weapons, the spread of infectious
disease, and endangering global energy security (Patrick, 2007; Lynch, 2016). They also account for a
disproportionate amount of civil wars around the world and large number of refugee movements
(Chauvet, et al., 2007). Outside countries, and agencies alike often find themselves intervening in the
affairs of failing states to prevent failure from crossing boundary lines. On occasion the collapse of
one administration can initiate a domino effect in neighbouring countries. The recent Arab Spring is
one of the greatest examples of a spillover or domino effect in recent history (de Blij, et al., 2014).
What began as an act of protest by a young Tunis man burning himself in December 2010, quickly

Democracy Essay
Democracy has become the most widespread political form of government during the past decade,
after the fall of all its alternatives. During the second part of the 20th century, the 3 main enemies of
democracy, namely communism, fascism and Nazism, lost most of their power and influence.
However, democracy is still only to be found in less than half of this world s countries. China with a
fifth of the total population had never experienced a democratic government and Russia still doesn t
have a well established democracy. By adopting a democratic perspective, 3 types of governments
emerge, non democratic, new democracies, and old democracies, and all have a different challenge to
overcome: either to become democratic, to consolidate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The whole Athenian experience shaped the political philosophy, even the way we understand it today.
At the centre of the Athenian government was an assembly, which every citizen was able to attend.
The role of this assembly was to select citizens for public duties. Whereas key positions were selected
through election, other public duties were decided by lottery. Although this is the first record attempt
of democracy, many of the ideas of that time have been ignored, when talking about modern
democratic governments. Concomitant with the Athenian system, in the city of Rome popular
government was introduced as well, albeit under a different name, respublica (from res – thing and
publicus – public). Consequently the republic was similar with Greek demokratia. At the beginning
only aristocrats or patricians were allowed to participate at the governing act, but after much struggle
the common people [ .] also gained entry (Dahl, 1998: 13). Only male patricians, later lower castes
as well, were able to govern, meaning that women, same as in Athens, were denied any political
rights. Starting as a city state, the Roman Republic conquered territories far beyond its initial borders
and gave Roman citizenship to the conquered people. Even though this system might seem sturdy, the
impossibility to adjust the institutions of popular government to the increasing number of citizens and

How Did Alexander s Unable To Develop His Empire
Moreover, Hammond claims that local militias who wished to join Alexander s army became citizen
soldiers, illustrating that regardless of nationality, by fighting along Alexander would incorporate one
into his illustrious empire. Eventually, the army became a way that fused cultures and mixed
background together. The more territories the army conquered, the more Alexander s empire grew, and
by giving incentives to recruits such as incorporating them into the newly formed empire would help
Alexander s ultimate goal of conquest through Asia. The result of Alexander s ambition for territorial
expansion thus reflected upon the constant need for troops and also a reflection of how diverse

Alexander spent most of his life expanding territories and consolidating his rule over his diverse
cultural subjects. Alexander s conquest overshadowed any plans for unification and racial
integration/assimilation because little, or no, effort was spent in an amalgamation between Greeks and
non Greeks. It is evident that the ruler included non Greeks into his army and administration, but he
did so to secure his absolute dominance over his empire. He used the Iranians in the Indian campaigns
to fight native tribes. Persians and other non Greek troops were used to replenish increasing mutinous
Greek troops that disagreed with his vision. Rather creating a policy fusion or mixing Greeks and non

Application Of An Enterprise Architecture
Introduction Most organizations have different types of systems that have been implemented and
being used for different purposes over the year of their operations. In this day and age, technologies
seem to change rapidly with executives and managers finding it difficult to get a pictorial view of the
existing systems whenever a new system is being implemented. The primary purpose of an enterprise
architecture is to integrate the Information Technology (IT) assets across different departments of an

Anaya and Ortiz (2005), defined enterprise architecture as a blueprint that provides a common view of
the primary resources of any enterprise (people, processes and technology) and how they integrate to

enterprise architectures are used mainly as two types of tools, which are: engineering tool and
management tool. As a tool for engineering, the enterprise architecture defines specific roles and
responsibilities which are assigned to various personnel of the organization that must be followed in
order to accomplish the objective of the organization. As a management tool, a manager will be able to

About a few weeks ago during lacrosse practice, a bald eagle was soaring above Sodexo Field. My

deep way of sharing between a couple. Most people get married because it s a lifelong commitment, it
s a way of bringing up children in a secure and loving home, a way to control and direct the sex

The exchange of rings follows the exchange of vows. The vows used in the Christian marriage reflect
the idea of a long lasting and un selfish relationship. A vow that is used in most Christian marriage
ceremonies is:
I take you to be my husband / wife,
To have and to hold
From this day forward,
For better, for worse,
For richer, for poorer,
In sickness and in health,
To love and to cherish
Till death us do part,
According to God s Holy law.
And to this I pledge myself.
This vow shows how you should look after your partner whatever the circumstances, i.e. if he/she is
ill. Both partners make this promise so it is a shared responsibility. After this promise has been said,
the ring is placed on the third finger of the woman s hand and the man and the women both say
separately:
With this ring I thee wed;
With my body I thee honour and all my worldly goods with
Thee I share
In the name of the Father, the son and the Holy Spirit.
This vow gives the idea of a deep form of sharing between the couple and how all their possessions
are now shared. The prayer of the faithful follows which may also include personal prayer by the
couple. The mass concludes with the Lord s prayer and a Blessing. There may also be a candlelight
blessing. In the Catholic tradition the candle flame is a symbol of Christ, the light of

A partnership, just like a corporation, is a juridical entity, which means that it has a personality distinct

The PigsDeceptiontion In Animal Farm, By George Orwell
The pigs deception is so effective because they built their reputation of being intelligent within the
farm and thus the animals accept what they say as true. The pigs reputation is present from the
beginning of Animal Farm when Major tries to encourage the other animals to rebel. Major is so
highly regarded on the farm that everyone was quite ready to lose an hour s sleep in order to hear what
he had to say (Orwell 4). This quote shows how important Major is and how influential he is on the
farm. Thus, one can assume that his reputation in a way represents the other pigs for he is the most
prominent member of the pigs. His reputation of being wise and benevolent is the reason the animals
revere him so. Then when he dies the work of organizing the animals falls upon the pigs. The work of
teaching and organizing the others fell upon the pigs, who were generally recognized as being the
cleverest animals (Orwell 15). This quote show that the other animals who are collectively less
educated than the pigs are heavily relying on the pigs reputation to figure out in their mind who they
are. By generalizing the pigs as intelligent the animals fall into the trap that many people do. A real
example of this is how people sometimes generalize Muslims as terrorist. When one generalizes, they
can either open themselves up or ignorantly close themselves to the other aspects of the person, place,
or thing. In Animal Farm, the animals open themselves up and end causing themselves to

Coastal marine ecosystems are a very important part of the coastal economy as well as the natural
ecology. Not only do coastal systems provide socioeconomic benefits such as tourism and aesthetics,
but also several ecosystem services. The ecosystem services provided by coast environments include
coastal erosion, storm protection, recreational or commercial fishing, carbon sequestration and
filtration (Wingard and Lorenz, 2014). Unfortunately, these services have been impacted by pressures
such as altered flow of freshwater runoff, sea level rise (which in turn also increases the frequency and
intensity of storms) and man made channels (Wingard and Lorenz, 2014). Another major factor that

Parkinson s Disease Pathology
Parkinson s disease (PD) is a common neurodegenerative disorder characterized by the classical motor
symptoms: resting tremor, bradykinesia, akinesia, rigidity and postural instability. Although the
complete PD pathogenesis is not well understood, we have gained a better understanding of its
etiology, pathology, and molecular mechanisms, thanks to the use of animal models. Importantly, none
of the current available models is able to fully recapitulate PD symptoms and pathology. Each model
is based on the production of one or few pathological processes of PD, which are either artificially
induced in a way that is seldom relevant to the disease (like toxin models), or that produces only a
small part of the pathology (like genetic models). The

Analysis Of The Movie Insomnia
In the movie Insomnia, the main character, Will Dormer daydreams, has hallucinations, and
flashbacks often throughout the movie. This attributed to his everyday life by causing him to space out
and veer off track. These symptoms appear to be most similar to those of the insomnia disorder.
Insomnia is not only the inability to get sleep, stay asleep, or get a good quality of sleep, but is also an
altered state of consciousness. Many factors that can contribute to insomnia include medical or
psychiatric illness, sleep disorders, medications, the environment and even poor sleep habits.
Sometimes depression and anxiety can also contribute to this disorder as well. Some symptoms of this
may include daydreaming, fatigue, drowsiness, confusion, tension headaches, anxiety, hallucinations,
flashbacks, sleep deprivation, light sensitivity, and distressing memories and dreams. Even though,
there are many ways to combat this disorder, not everyone will, as seen by Will Dormer s actions
throughout this movie. Insomnia is a sleep disorder that can be caused by various factors. Like in the
beginning of the movie, Insomnia, Will Dormer struggles to fall asleep at the time of investigating a
murder in a town where the sun does not set. A lack of melatonin could have lead to the first few signs
of sleep deprivation. Melatonin is a hormone produced by a gland in the brain, and helps regulate
other hormones and maintains the body s circadian rhythm. Melatonin is produced on a larger

  • 2. The American Dream In William Fitzgerald s Life Of Willy... Throughout the course of the two books, Willy and Gatsby encounter many societal expectations. One societal expectation that Willy and Gatsby both share is the fact that from the outside, they both look like they have achieved their American dream. Gatsby had the big house and all of the money he could possibly need in life. According to society, that is all you would need in life. There was one thing that Gatsby was missing, that was having a family. He was working on that thought, and that is why he bought his house where it was because it was right across the river from Daisy s house. He was able to look over at her house and see the green light. From an outsider s perspective looking into the life of Gatsby, he had a pretty good life, unlike what Willy s life is seen as. Society was expecting them to make money to support their families, have a nice house and have a steady income. Willy wanted to have a life like that, but it was hard to achieve.Because society was changing so rapidly, he wasn t able to keep up with the changes and adapt to the way the world was changing. People began to shop in stores and weren t relying on door to door salesmen for their shopping. The market for salesmen was changing and Willy wouldn t change to keep up with society. Willy was a good salesman but, there were changing and it didn t matter how good of a salesman you are. Willy looked up at their neighbor and family friend, Charley because he had his American dream. • 3. Abstinence-Only Education In Texas Abstinence only education . Every person has the right of balanced sex education, if they want. Abstinence only education is not the correct approach in Texas, because the programs ignore youth s basic human right and the fundamental public health principle of accurate information, they advocate contraceptive use and does not emphasize their failure rates, and virginity pledges do not delay the beginning of sexual activity. American birth rates are lower than ever, unless you re in Texas. The state s high teen birthrate has sparked debate about sex education in state, because observers believe that the high teenage birthrate is an indication that the states abstinence only approach to sex education ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The constant pressure that the Texas government apply on the teenage population about sex before marriage makes them think that their only solution when a teenage girl gets pregnant is abortion. Abortion is legal and accessible in Texas, and the majority of Texas metropolitan areas have abortion clinics. This kind of education would work better if the state chooses to teach about contraception methods, and the importance of abstinence. The only proven method for reducing pregnancy and sexually transmitted disease, the studies say, is to combine the abstinence message with one that teaches young people how to protect themselves against pregnancy and disease . However, the state opposes to teach about contraception because they do not want to give the impression that the state supports premarital sex. This conclusion from the Texas government is completely awful, because if the state teaches the teenage population about the importance and usage of contraception methods many teenage pregnancies could be prevented. Contraception can be extremely effective at preventing unwanted pregnancies when it is used consistently and correctly. Abstinence only is not a realistic approach for everyone, because what about those teenagers that have been sexually assaulted ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Titanium Research Paper I chose titanium because it is a very common element and is used for many purposes. Titanium was discovered in 1791 by amateur geologist, William Gregor, as an inclusion of a mineral in Cornwall, Great Britain. Gregor recognized there was a new element present in Ilmenite, when he found black sand by a stream and noticed the sand was attracted by a magnet. He determined the presence of two metal oxides: iron oxide and 45.25% of a white metallic oxide that was unidentifiable. After realizing that the unidentified oxide contained a metal that did not match any known element, Gregor reported his findings to the Royal Geological Society Titanium is composed of 22 protons, 26 neutrons, and 22 electrons. Titanium has 8 isotopes, 5 are stable and 3 are unstable. Isotopes from Ti 46 to Ti 50 are stable isotopes, Ti 44, Ti 45, and Ti 51 are unstable isotopes. Taxation Essay In America, the powerful and wealthy are able to abuse the taxation system to their benefit, and this paper will demonstrate how this is done and the solutions to those problems, as well as refute the opposition. America has had it s moments of glory and triumph yet also it s moments of failure and loss. However, it seems nearly impossible to predict an economic recession or a war, so one can never know when tough times are approaching. Currently, America is in the second longest period of stock market growth, ever. The natural conclusion, then, is that the economy here is healthy and strong, and that this growth will continue. Does it honestly make sense that a man with 77 billion dollars pays less in taxes than his secretary? It is evident that capital gains taxed at such a low rate encourage this. The third loophole, and the product of politicians and wealthy citizens of the state of Kansas, is a 0% tax rate on Limited Liability Companies, or LLCs. The idea for the tax break was to give the state s economy a Shot of Adrenaline , and it allowed thousands of corporations to pay little in taxes. This means that those companies could employ more people, and spend more money on research and development. So how could this be negative? In short, it allowed individuals to form Limited Liability Companies with only a single employee: themselves. This means that very wealthy people can organize into an LLC, and pay nothing in income taxes, cheating the system. However, it is impractical for the poor to do the same, as they don t have nearly as much to gain from this. According to Kansas Attorney James P. In modern day that no longer applies as the internet quite literally does not forget, because there will always be a database or a screenshot floating somewhere in cyberspace. This is where the issue lies. The owners of the business refused to change their ways. They have outright refused to take any advice from critically acclaimed chef Gordon Ramsey, ignored most if not all of his warnings and then proceeded to claim nothing is wrong. They have had several major lapses of judgment on screen. What is more important however, is the aftermath of said show. Biodiversity can be studied on a global level all the way down to studying it within a microscopic ecosystem (National Wildlife Federation, 2015). It is important to understand that biodiversity can be looked at genetically as well as environmentally as well. For example, genetic biodiversity is seen in the variation of different breeds within the dog species, while environmental biodiversity is the diversity of ecosystems and habitats (National Wildlife Federation, 2015). Preserving biodiversity is perhaps the most important task that humans have to complete while living on this planet. • 39. The PigsDeceptiontion In Animal Farm, By George Orwell The pigs deception is so effective because they built their reputation of being intelligent within the farm and thus the animals accept what they say as true. The pigs reputation is present from the beginning of Animal Farm when Major tries to encourage the other animals to rebel. Major is so highly regarded on the farm that everyone was quite ready to lose an hour s sleep in order to hear what he had to say (Orwell 4). This quote shows how important Major is and how influential he is on the farm. Thus, one can assume that his reputation in a way represents the other pigs for he is the most prominent member of the pigs. His reputation of being wise and benevolent is the reason the animals revere him so. Then when he dies the work of organizing the animals falls upon the pigs. The work of teaching and organizing the others fell upon the pigs, who were generally recognized as being the cleverest animals (Orwell 15). This quote show that the other animals who are collectively less educated than the pigs are heavily relying on the pigs reputation to figure out in their mind who they are. By generalizing the pigs as intelligent the animals fall into the trap that many people do. A real example of this is how people sometimes generalize Muslims as terrorist.
