2. Definition
A flannel board is a display made up of
wood, cardboard or strawboard covered with
colour flannel or woollen cloth.
 Flannel board sometimes called as flannel
graph ,visual board , frick board ,slap board
,video graph.

-To provide information and motivate the
learners.
-To convey idea more expressively.
-To educate both illiterate and literate
people.
-It captures and holds attention of students.

-It is used for letter recognition and work
formation during language teaching in primary
classes.
-It can be used for recall testing.
-It is of great help in playing educative puzzles.
-For showing inter relationship between different
parts or steps of a process,a flannel board can be
used effectively e.g.nursing process. 4

Hanging type
-This flannel graph does not have support.
-It has to be hanged on the wall surface to
adhere material.

-It has a support, usually made up of wood.
-It can be placed without support of wall or
surface on its own stand.

-Plywood or cardboard sheet used to make
a board.
-Pieces of flannel cloth is wrapped.
-Appropriate size is 40 ×30cm for board.
-Cut pieces should be based on the
message.
-Sand paper , glue etc.can be used for

- Arrange the cut pieces sequentially.
- keep the audience at proper distance.
-Place the rough side of cut pieces on the
flannel board.

-Space is usually limited.

-Time and cost of making material is a
