Gene Expression in Eukaryotes
Gene expression in eukaryotes can be broken down into three stages. These stages include
Transcription, RNA processing, and Translation. These steps are similar to gene expression in
prokaryotes but RNA processing is specific to gene expression in eukaryotes.
Transcription
Transcription happens in the cell nucleus. This is where DNA can be found. For example you can
use DNA as instructions to make certain things such as proteins, but, these instructions are in a
different language and you do not understand them, so the workers that will eventually assemble
them cannot work with them. This is where mRNA will come into play. The mRNA will provide
the workers or cells with new instructions that will be used to build the protiens. In transcription
DNA is unzipped and the enzyme RNA polymerase RNA polymerase binds to the promoter region.
This starts the unwinding of the DNA strands, and the polymerase starts RNA synthesis which runs
along the template strand of the DNA. In eukaryotic cells proteins called transcription factors bind
to promoters that include a TATA box, 25 nucleotides upstream from the start of transcription. After,
more transcription factors will bind to the DNA, together with RNA polymerase II, forming the
transcription initiation complex.
The second step of transcription is the process of elongation. This is where the polymerase moves
downstream while it unwinds the DNA and elongates the RNA from 5 to 3 . As the RNA synthesis
continues downstream the new

Martin Luther King s An Indigenous Peoples History Of...
Martin Luther King Jr. once said, the ultimate tragedy is not the oppression and cruelty by the bad
people but the silence over that by the good people . This quote resonates with me because it
explains how normal it has become in our society to dismiss history or the various forms of
oppression and dominations. Prior to reading An Indigenous Peoples History of the United States, I
had very limited knowledge of the massacres, enslavement and tragedies that the Native Americans
tribes endured because of colonization. As an immigrant to the United States, I did not know a lot
about Native Americans nor were they part of the larger academic conversation. In school the most
we were taught about Native Americans were that Columbus sailed the oceans in 1492, looking for
India but instead he discovered... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Typically, during these lessons, we were also taught about the pilgrims and how they came to
colonies in search of freedom. In addition to this, there were also conversations about Puritans,
Native American s and a brief description of the trail of tears. My initial response to learning
about the Americas, and the fact that it was not a new world as it is most often referred as was
surprising and informative. In chapter 1, Follow the Corn, it talks about the multiple varieties and
colors of corn, squash, beans, potatoes and other agricultures. I felt a bit ignorant and misinformed
because it had never occurred to me that prior to the Europeans arrival to the new world, there was
some complex systems in place that helped the Natives survive. I think part of this narrow
mindedness comes from what I have been taught, which portrays Native Americans as uncivilized,
tribal people. This chapter was interesting because it introduces

Eumenides Views On The Rule Of Law And Civil Process
Is it realistic for justice to effectively perform its function of keeping order without the rule of
law? As someone who lived all his life within in civil democracy, it is fair to say that I have biased,
yet, supportive views regarding need for order, law and institutions as a way to promote the pillar
of modern society: justice. This idea of the rule of law and civil process has not always been apart
our world, as we used to operate under a much more barbaric system, one both lacking a civil and
democratic process. This essay will argue that in Eumenides, the shift in views on the role of the
rule of law and social order on matters of justice is displayed through the character progression
of the furies from ones of vengeance and bloodthirst to ones of compassion, reason and
forgiveness. It is also worth mentioning that the shift from the older conception of justice to a
newer one also reflects the author s political leaning toward a society that embraces the rule of
law as a way to favor a civil legal process in society. Prior to going over the importance of the
Furies and the relevance of their character progression, it is imperative to understand the context in
which they develop from Furies to Eumenides. In a nutshell, Orestes has come to the temple of
Apolloin Delphi to purify himself from the sin of killing his mother, Clytemnestra. After expressing
his concerns, Apollo essentially tells him that he will act as his guardian and protect him, as he

Indians Journey
We just started to leave Independence rock, I discovered that it s been getting hotter and hotter
on the trail towards Oregon. We ve had a couple cows die from bad water, and some chickens got
crushed by the wheels of my wagon. We all are sunburned from the blazing sun, and we don t
have any medication for that besides long sleeve shirts. I m surprised that we haven t had any
Indian attacks yet, I thought those would happen a lot. Hopefully when we do see some Indians,
they will be friendly and kind instead of wanting to steal from us and kill us. I m sure that we will
encounter some good and bad ones along the south pass, so we should always be ready since we
are very far from any stores or any other people. I have a pistol on the side of... Show more content

Breakfast didn t have to many mosquitoes in them, and rounding up the oxen, chicken, and
cows were quite easier than normal. Today is going to be a good day I thought to myself. We
were all traveling behind the leader, when he stopped at this bubbling pool of water. He
screamed, We re here! I had no clue what here was but I just followed what everyone else was
doing. They said we could wash our clothes here and clean up everything, so I did. It was very
warm water, and I thought it was boiling but it was just from ancient volcanic activity. All of our
clothes were washed and I was right about the good day I was going to have. For some reason I
wasn t sore or tired when I woke up, so that led me to believe that I was going to have a good day.
We left Soda Spring around lunch time and our next stop was Fort Hall. I heard Fort Hall you
can trade things for hats and other types of clothing. When we get there I m going to buy a hat to
keep the sun out of my eyes. I heard you can also buy other things like repair kits and that stuff.
We reached Fort Hall at about 6 o clock at night. We decided to rest for the rest of the day,
because there s no point to go out for 2 hours to move on the journey. In the morning we left at 6
because we forgot to wake up, and we left Fort Hall. About a week and a half later we came upon
the Three Island Crossing. Now we had to cross the snake river. Our choices were to ride a ferry
along the shallow looking river, or float along the river with the wagon and making our animals
swim. I talked to Mr. Swanson about this because I didn t want to try and guide my oxen and
cow along the river, that just seems outrageous. I finally convinced him to make us take the
ferry, because it would be a lot easier and the cost is only $20. We made it across easy with nothing
bad happening, and now we are on the other side. I m afraid one of these days I will accidentally

Investigating The Behavior Of Animals
Investigating the behavior of animals is essential to understanding the implications for why an
animal may do things the way they do. It helps shine some light on a subject that is not heavily
researched and give us a better understanding of the feeding behavior, reproductive patterns,
seasonal movement and communication between other animals. As boring or bland as animal
observation may be it gives us an increased outlook on the many reasons for an animal s demeanor.
I got the opportunity to observe and analyze White tailed Deerin their natural habitat and get a
better understanding for that of their various behaviors. White tails in general have interesting
behavioural characteristics that define them as a species and enable their survival in the wild.
Food is an essential part of the survival of a species from one generation to the next carrying over
good genes or genes of malnutrition, famine and death. Throughout this project, I was able to
observe some interesting feeding behavior carried out by that of White tailed Deer. For example,
after analyzing my observations, I came to the conclusion that White tails eat a variety of foods
from various fruits, grasses, twigs, sedges and aquatic plants. On August twenty third, day one of
observation, I as well saw a spike buck consume various mushrooms and that astonished me. Due to
mushrooms being toxic and are in many instances poisonous, I was just surprised to see White tails
consume them as a part of their diet.

Egg Freezing Research Paper
Is Egg Freezing Really the Way to Halt Our Biological Clock? Trending in America, even
amongst women in their twenties, is freezing our eggs really the answer to putting us in control
of becoming mothers at a later stage in life? With clinics in the UK reporting up to a 400%
increase in levels of interest, we have a look at whether this expensive procedure is the way
forward. Egg Banking Advances: Vitrification is the preferred egg freezing method due to its
ability to avoid the formation of ice crystals by reducing the temperature up to 600 times faster
than previous, less successful processes. This recent advancement to the egg freezing process has

In society today, it is not uncommon for females to spend their twenties and early thirties
furthering their education and progressing in their profession and the ability to freeze their eggs
can certainly take the pressure off the battle against the biological clock. Difficulties with the
economic crisis have led to people reaching financial stability later than ever before. The rise in
property prices and the increasing cost of living are reasons why the option of freezing eggs is
becoming so popular. During our prime years, many females are struggling in rented
accommodation, paying off student debts and lacking job security which means they feel unable
to consider comfortably starting a family until years down the line. With more time being spent
in work and education, it leaves less opportunity to find the perfect man to settle down with and
have a family. Increasingly, women are using the option of freezing their eggs as a safety net,
allowing them to give birth when their biological clock is telling them otherwise. This is also a
common method for females who have their first baby at a mature age and are determined to have
more than one. Egg freezing will increase the likeliness of this, even after they reach the

Unemployment Rate Measurement Of Unemployment
Unemployment Rate Measurement The Labor force is composed by employment and
unemployment. According to the Economic fifth edition, the unemployment is when someone not
currently at work but who is available for work and who has actively looked for work during the
previous month. There are three types of unemployment: frictional, structural and cyclical
unemployment. The unemployment is one of the biggest problems that any society has to face it.
The unemployment reflects the status of the economy and amount of good and services stop
producing and consuming. That s why government pays close attention to the unemployment rate.

Takeaways Analysis
On Sunday night, the Golden State Warriors defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 132 113 in Game 2
of the 2017 NBA Finals, taking a commanding 2 0 series lead. Even though Cavaliers superstar
LeBron James notched his eighth NBA Finals triple double, tying him with Magic Johnson for the
most in NBA Finals history, it was not enough to overcome the offensive firepower of the Warriors.
Just like in Game 1, it was once again the Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry show.
Here are three takeaways from Game 2:
1. Kevin Durant is on his way to potentially being named Finals MVP
After his phenomenal Game 1 performance, many people wondered what Kevin Durant would do
for an encore performance in Game 2?
To answer that question, Durant did not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite his stellar perimeter defense, the Warriors needed Thompson to find his shot again and give
them an extra offensive boost in Game 2.
Thompson did just that as he pitched in with 22 points and seven rebounds, plus knocked down 4
of 7 from three point range. Give Thompson credit though, he is an outstanding shooter and when
you are a shooter like him, you need to have a short memory.
A missed shot will not make or break you. Thompson was knocking down shots inside the arc,
putting the ball on the floor, and dialing it up from distance.
The Warriors will need him to continue to shoot the ball like he did on Sunday night, especially if
they want to win Game 3 on Tuesday night and take a commanding 3 0 series lead.
3. LeBron James is still the greatest player in the world but he cannot do it all
Once again in the NBA Finals, LeBron James gave us another special performance. As I mentioned
earlier, James posted his eighth NBA Finals triple double consisting of 29 points, 14 rebounds, and
11 assists, but it was not enough.
Early in the game, James was playing like a man possessed. He was controlling the tempo,
attacking the basket with force and tenacity, while also getting his teammates involved. He also
threw down a powerful dunk on Andre Iguodala, who was at the wrong place at the wrong time.
However, James teammates could not reciprocate the favor and help him out. Just like in Game 1,

Animals Should Not Kill The Animals
Something that I haven t consider is how the way they kill the animals to get the meat. And how
they are treated. They should at least not kill them like that. It horrible the way they do. They are
not thinking what pain and suffer the animals go through when they are killing them savagely. And
how they treat them is no way any human should be treating an animal. They should really
consider other ways of doing it but not in a savagely way.
When chickens are put in cages they are all being stuffed together and they can even stretch out
their wings or even some of them don t even get to see the sun of light or even smell fresh air
from outside because they are all in cages. When they get them out, some farmers throw them
around until they are dead. They will bash their heads with their cages. Or some of the farmers will
slice their throat. When they kill a baby chicken, they don t even let them grow. Ones they are
hatch they get killed. Some of the farmers throw the chickens all together in a bag so they could
suffocate or they will throw them into a machine so they could be killed. It s horrible because they
take them away from their mother when they hatch. When the cows are killed it is horrible they put
them a machine that spins them around and then they slice their throat. They re still alive when
they throw them and live them to die. You could hear them suffering. They don t even bother
cleaning up after them they just leave them all together. Some of the farmers even

London During The Industrial Revolution
London, the capital of the Industrial Revolution in the 1750s, created textile factories that
increased the demand for labor, urbanization, population and food supply. This led to a migration
of people into the cities and away from rural areas to look for work. At this time, London had a
laissez faire economic system where the government did not interfere with private property meaning
that it was free from regulation. Therefore, private slaughterhouses were all around the city to
provide people with fresh meatand for butchers to make a profit. But, slaughtering in London had
negative consequences like the smell and traffic congestion causing hazards to the public leading
reformers to demand government regulation. In Maclachan s article, The... Show more content on

One of the state s first actions was replacing Smithfield Market in 1855 with the Metropolitan
Cattle Market in the suburbs where it can connect to railway transportations. This proved a relief
from traffic congestion in the city with the use of railways that opened a gateway to an increase in
country killed meat as opposed to meat from livestock slaughtered in London. This gradual increase
in country killed meat was malignant to the butcher s business because it meant less livestock
would be slaughtered in the city and less profit. Also, the government realized that public health
regulation is needed to protect the people from meat not inspected that could cause fatal diseases
because the state is responsible for securing the well being of its people. Hence, the state passed the
Buildings Act (1844) and the Metropolis Act (1873) giving power to the state to regulate the
slaughtering process and monitor the waste disposal from slaughtering. Thus, after these state
actions the relationship between the food and the state is gradually converging under the control of
the government. These regulations almost caused the extinction of private slaughterhouses because
there was a decrease in private slaughterhouses from 1,500 in 1873 to 455 in 1897. But, the
butchers did not give up

Comparison Of Democracy And The Republic
Both the pure democracy and the republic are centered around the ideal that the commoners have
equal say in the decision making process, typically this is done through a representative system
(congress, senate, parliament, executives or others) to simplify the voting and decision making
process. Where they differ is in the fact that a Constitutional Republic provides protection to the
rights of minorities from the will of the majority; in a true democracythe majority rules over
minority groups without limit. The citizens of the United Statesenjoy the protection of a strong
constitution, made even stronger by its first ten amendments: The Bill of Rights. Minority
viewpoints in the United States are protected by the constitution and its amendments, it is this
constitution that prohibits the oppression of minority groups by majority groups.
In the work The Republic, by Plato, it is explained that the cities Crete and Sparta have a system of
governance that is widely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The government of the United States takes pride in its separation of power, keeping all branches
of government at an equal plane. While there are several forms of parliamentary governments,
just as there are different flavors of democratic and republican governments, the key is that in a
parliament the head of state is typically a different person from the head of government (The
United Kingdom, 2012). In many parliaments the head of state is a monarch while the head of
state is an elected official (The United Kingdom, 2012). The benefit of this system is that it takes
the work of running the country s internal affairs off the shoulders of typically the oligarch and
places it on a body of elected representatives much like in the United States. The head of state may
retain powers or slip into a more symbolic role depending on the type of parliamentary system in

Tide Rises, The Tide Falls
The reasoning of why I chose this poem, considering that it falls in the category of all living
organisms. It s that our own selves come with a deadline, but the world we live in keeps
revolving. In my eyes, it signifies that no one person is greater than the other as each one of us
are alike. This poem caught my interest with all images shown from the text. It certainly makes
me feel all of what the author is attempting to visibly demonstrate. This poem displays what
occurs in everyday life as one goes away the world keeps moving, further new forms of life make it
back. The Tide Rises, The Tide falls, it s a wonderful poem that explains nature. It relates to our
world in the sense of all living organisms, being replaced, our world keeps moving forward.... Show

In just the title, The Tide Rises, The Tide Falls one can tell or draw a grasp of what the poem
will be about. As for my perspective, this signifies that one is washed away or realistically
passes away while another comes to life. It is just a cycle that never has an ending. As for the
whole poem, the meaning is about how death is an enormous factor in the world that our own
selves live in. It has an extensive role as every single one of us going to perish at some point, but
there is always someone new that will replace us when we re gone. It shows how nature is with
a non ending cycle, which keeps our life ways to continue for bounteous years to come. The
poem has a nice but also a mournful meaning to it. Our way in which us life organisms live as
death being an immense factor, having a great deal of a sentimental value. Ultimately, each person
only has one life, they decide what they accomplish with it along with forming the best of it. This
is the basic meaning of what the poem is, how death is a massive factor in our world which we live

Abstract
Third party logistics is a provider that gives companies the ability to outsource their logistics
services. Logistics services that may include anything throughout an organization that involves
management of the way resources are moved to areas where they are required or needed. Some
would say the term, third party logistics, come from the military. In the business world, third
party logistics con somewhat have a broader meaning. Meaning that it can be associated with
service contracts that involve shipping or storing of items. Third party logistics provide services
that may be a single service such as warehouse storage or transportation related, but it can also
provide a system wide bundle of services that have the capability of managing a company s entire
supply chain. Photo provided by Robinson (2013).

A Research Study On Bpa
1). INTRODUCTION/ SPECIFIC AIMS, BACKGROUND AND SIGNIFICANCE.
Alexander Dianin was a Russian chemist who first compounded Bisphenol A, during the year
1891. Bisphenol A is commonly referred to as BPA. Dianin was carrying out studies on phenol
compounds and synthesized BPA by condensing acetone with two equivalent parts of phenol. The A
in BPA denotes acetone in its composition. (1)
At first, the development of BPA was solely an academic exercise. Dianin was the chair of the
Chemistry Department / Imperial Medial Academy in St. Petersburg, Russia. (2) Modern organic
chemistry was in its beginning phases and the potential benefits from combining organic
compounds were being envisioned. Reports of BPA synthesis was first published in Eastern
European chemistry journals and eventually appeared in Western journals. For decades, BPA was
referred to only as: Dianin s Compound. (3) By today s organic chemistry standards, BPA is a
relatively simple molecule and is easy to produce industrially. However, in 1891, BPA s synthesis
was a remarkable discovery. BPA s laboratory synthesis demonstrated that the simplest member of
the ketone group, acetone, could be combined with two molecules of phenol. The result was a
previously nonexistent artificial compound. (4) Contrary to inorganic chemistry, this was not single
elements reacting to form a relatively small compound; organic chemistry had the potential of
combining many more compounds with seemingly unlimited potential of

The Ethics Of Executions Should Be Legal
The Ethics of Executions Over the past 10 years, more death row inmates have preferred execution
to facing seemingly endless years of appeals, states an ABC News article (Robinson). With the ever
increasing number of executions, the controversial debate over the legality of capital punishment
creates a divide within the population. A wedge that separates the people who support capital
punishmentis one complicated question: what role should a doctor play in executions? Doctors
should be advocates for their patients no matter what the circumstances. Despite the infraction of
American Medical Association (AMA) policy, it is important for a licensed medical
professional with the correct knowledge and experience to monitor the execution. While a doctor
should be on the scene in case of emergency, they should not play an active role in executions as
is the policy in Texas and other states. The first thing to remember is that all doctors must adhere
to the Hippocratic Oath which requires them to do no harm to their patients. However, the bounds
of this oath are widely debated on cases that span Do Not Resuscitate directives, physician assisted
suicide, executions, and anything that results in the death of a patient. In the case of executions,
AMA policy states that it is unethical for doctors to be involved except in a peripheral way
(Tanner). The AMA s stance prohibits doctors from supervising or contributing in any way even if
it is to help ease the inmate s pain

Racial Equality And Equality
During the Civil Rights Movement, one of the biggest organizations involved in the movement was
the Congress of Racial Equality, also known as CORE, one of the most prominent organizations that
had been responsible for the massive outpouring of direct action against housing, employment, and
educational discrimination. During the Civil Rights Movement, CORE had worked with other civil
rights groups to fight back racial inequality with aims to desegregate public facilities such as the
Freedom Rides, the Freedom Summer voter registration and the March on Washington. Seeing as to
how CORE had contributed to the promotion of desegregation in the United States as well as
advocating for racial equality it is evident that CORE is one of the most important and vital
organizations of the Civil Rights Movement and without CORE the fight for racial equality and
desegregation would have been compromised. Rather, throughout the entirety of the Civil Rights
Movement and the many rallies and movements that had been organized it is evident that the
Congress of Racial Equality s participation and efforts had greatly contributed to the establishment
of nationwide awareness towards the horrors of racial discrimination as well the gradual
deconstruction and prohibition of racebased segregation in areas of public education, job

Critically engage with Hannah Arendts Humanistic approach to political action.
This essay will be split into two parts. The first will be concerned with critically engaging
poststructuralist and postmodernist rejections of humanism highlighted by Stuart Sim, with notions
of a humanism put forward by Timothy Brannan that place importance on the shared universal
attributes shared by every human. I will to this with the aim of placing Arendt s humanism with the
latter. For the second half of this essay I will develop a focused analysis on Arendt s conception of
political action critically engaging this with concerns raised by Dan Stone regarding Arendt s

Chess Vs. Chess
Life is one of the most, if not the absolute most difficult things to be successful at. Chess is a
mental battle that all be it is much shorter than life, it is still a battle that requires strategies in
order to be successful. Besides chess being a matchup of pieces, the similarities between chess and
life are evident and can be compared to many parts of life, ultimately showing that strategies are
required to become successful.
A game crafted by L shaped moves, diagonal slides with fuzz on the bottom of a bishop, as well as
numbers and letters riding along the entire 64 spaced square. Chess is not just an activity but a way
to relieve stress, show one s intelligence to others, and prove your endurance through another typical
game. The black pawn short, round topped, and terribly stubborn. The black pawn, is the biggest
obstacle towards winning a match. Conquering one black pawn at a time is just the same as
overcoming a challenge in our lives. But wait, aren t there eight pawns? Yes, yes there
are.Throughout life, there will always be an endless amount of pawns that will have to beat, and
while it may be tough, the lessons I will learn from winning each conflict will shape people into a
more effective player in the chess game of life. As a similarity to chess, life is all about endurance,
and with endurance comes resilience and motivation. With those traits people can better prepare
oneself to overcome challenges encountered.

Summary Of The Book Collapse By Jared Diamond
Collapse Book Review
In Collapse, Jared Diamond explores the demise of different civilizations throughout history and
the signs that might portend for today s societies. The most evident and recurring themes are:
climate change, environmental damage, friendly trade partners and hostile neighbors. Whether it
is one or multiple of these factors that causes a society s collapse, these four points of Diamond s
suggested five point framework are consistently relevant to the collapse of a society.Diamond
thoroughly examines the history of collapses of civilizations ranging from the Mayan Empire to
modern China. Throughout the book Diamond works to answer the question, Why is it that some
societies collapsed while others did not collapse? The following themes, discussed by Jared
Diamond as the main factors in a civilization s success or failure, are explored and explained in the
past to provide a better outlook on the status of our future: environmental damage, climate change,
and neighbors including trade partners.

The Art Of Jackson Pollock s White Light Painting
Jackson Pollock drew White Light painting in 1945. He used the oil, enamel, and aluminum paint
on canvas. This painting refers to the light spectrum which includes the rainbow colors. Therefore,
the colors in this painting are primary hue such as red, yellow, blue, and green. Beside of that, the
painting also has black and whitecolors. However, the main colorof this painting is a white color.
That is why, in this painting, the white color goes and cross through other colors on the canvas, the
way Jackson Pollock drew is expressing the moving of white light. This blend of colors helps
everyone to see the dazzling white light. On the other word, it means that there will be a white
light to brighten up our darker days. That is why I can see the value of this painting is really
closed because it looks beauty and peace.
Jackson Pollock did not use the brush to draw the lines or created any shape for his painting and
used the dripping technique to draw his painting. That is why, if we look at this painting for the
first time, we can t imagine what the painting means because it does not have any shapes or lines.
It also has lines and shapes overlapping and do not follow a directed way. Although the painting
does not have exactly shape and line, it still the most dominant element because it performs the way
of the white lights goes.
In the White Light painting of Jackson Pollock, I think the repetition and balance of the principle of
design are strengthen for work visually.

The Psychology of The Gambler Essay
The Psychology of The Gambler
In Fyodor Dostoyevsky s The Gambler, we are presented with a novel whose protagonist is what
we would call today a problem gambler. The gambling mania of the story s hero, Alexei Ivanovitch,
is a mirror of Dostoyevsky s own gambling compulsion. The heroine, Polina Alexandrovna,
represents a woman Dostoyevsky had as a real lover. Polina is the stepdaughter of the General, who
Alexei works for as a servant. The General shows paranoia over gambling from the outset of the
story. He censures Alexei with respect to his care of the children, I suppose you would like to take
them to the Casino to play roulette? Well, excuse my speaking so plainly, but I know how addicted
you are to gambling. Though I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

successful gambling, I had long ago made up my mind, that never should I depart from

worse than any other method of acquiring money? How, for instance, is it worse than trade? True,
out of a hundred persons, only once can win; yet what business is that of yours or mine?
(Dostoyevsky 8).
When it comes to writers and writing, there is an old maxim that is often repeated, Write what
you know. Dostoyevsky seems to have taken this advice to heart when it comes to his own
writing. For the gambler is based on a real love affair had by the author as well as being a first hand
account of the behaviors and psyches of the addicted gambler (which he was for a period of
time). As Christine McKay (2) points out, The Gambler is based on Dostoyevsky s love affair
with Apollinaria Suslova as well as his frequent casino visits to play roulette, which he began
playing in 1863, at a time when he was extremely poor. He experienced first hand the excesses of
gambling so aptly described in The Gambler.
Alexei is involved in the intrigues of the social climbers who surround the General for whom he
works as a servant. This too is an autobiographical element of the

Modernist literature appeared in the late 19th century, mostly in Europe and North America.
Modernism took place right after WWII and is classified by consciously trying to break away
from original styles of writing such as Romanticism and Realism and the other styles that
appeared before them. The modernist movement was driven by desire to talk about new things
and express the true feelings of the age the authors lived in. This was the reason why many
modernists wrote about World War. Modernism is one of the most important styles of writing
because it brought a completely new way of writing which allowed authors to write about
anything including profanity. As mentioned before, The Catcher in the Rye was one of the first
modernism books which talked about sexuality and profanity. Holden openly talks about his
sexual relations, which caused a lot of controversy within the readers. Because modernism was
only beginning to develop, society had to get used to new things. Modernist style of writing
nearly doesn t focus on describing the surroundings. It focuses on character s actions, character s
perception of things, moods. In The Catcher in the Rye, Salinger nearly doesn t focus on
describing anything except the main characters. Salinger ties Holden to modernism as a character
who breaks all the rules and refuses being normal. If modernism was a character, it would

A Comparison Of Nicholas And The American Restoration...
Allen Diles, in A Comparison of Nicholas of Pelhrimov and the Taborite Restoration with Alexander
Campbell and the American Restoration Movement, attempts to relate religious movements that
occurred more than four centuries apart: the Taborite Restoration and the American Restoration.
Further focus is place on the leaders of these movements, Nicholas of Pelhrimov and Alexander
Campbell. A connection between these two men is scarcely made; moreover, many students of
religion are ignorant to the existence of the Taborite Restoration and Nicholas of Pelhrimov. Diles
endeavor to connect these men and the reformation movements they were involved in was
lucrative, as it connected a semi modern movement with a little known medieval movement, but his
presentation of the connection between these movements prevents the connection from emerging in
a manner as compelling as it possibly could have. Diles composes his article in response to the
neglect of the Hussite movement, of which the Taborites formed the radical wing of, in modern
times and the often exclusion of Nicholas of Pelhrimov, an individual whom he feels was critical,
when the Hussite movement is studied. In his thesis, Diles states, Although Nicholas himself is
obscure to Americans and among scholars of the Stone Campbell Movement, the Taborite
movement is rarely mentioned, and examination of Nicholas and his movement reveals striking
similarities in thought, if not in form, between the medieval Taborite reform and that

Electrostatic Precipitators

Electrostatic Precipitators
Electrostatic precipitators are machines designed to reduce pollution in industrial applications.
Typically fitted to the stacks of factories and power stations, electrostatic precipitators are designed
to filter out dust particles from exhaust gases produced by industrial work. 99.9% of the dust
particulates is captured by the precipitator, reducing the amount of dirty air passing into the
atmosphere. ( Introduction to Precipitators , 2oo7) Air pollution is a major problem in Hong Kong

This can be prevented by the use of electrostatic precipitators. Once air particulates have been
removed, a significant part of the risk of damage to people have been removed as well. As stated
in the quote above, one hundred thousand lives in Europe are lost annually due to ailments and
illnesses caused by or complicated by particulates. Using electrostatic precipitators prevent more
deaths from taking place.
Particulates and air pollution are also very harmful to the environment. Excessive air pollution and
emissions of gases such as sulphur dioxide can cause acid rain, which acidifies the soil, rendering
it unsuitable for growth of crops and greenery. Much of the harmful gases come from manmade
sources, such as power plants, factories and vehicles. Particulates also a cause of smog, which can
cause plenty of ill effects. Exposure to the ozone, carbon monoxide, sulphur dioxide and nitrogen

Implementing Best Procurement And Acquisition Practices
In order to institutionalize best procurement and acquisition practices in an organization, I would
begin by forming a cross functional team made up of supply management personnel, finance
personnel, attorneys, human resources, engineers, and other subject matter experts. As was
highlighted in chapter ___ of the class text, this is the best approach for ensuring that the broadest
possible range of ideas and perspectives are incorporated early into the planning process.
Additionally, it ensures that a great idea conceived of by one functional area is viewed from within
the restrictions and/or limitations imposed by another. As with specifications development, this
process allows the team to develop a reasonable, effective, and implementable plan that works
across functional areas and provides the greatest return on investment. One company that has been
particularly successful in implementing best practices is Toyota. I would adopt that companies
approach to implementing best practices by delegating responsibility down to the lowest level. For
example, if anyone on the factory floor spots a deficiency, he or she has the authority to stop the
assembly line so that the condition and its contributing factors may be examined, recorded, and
analyzed. This same principle could be applied to the acquisition process. By empowering rank and
file purchasers, contract specialists, contract administrators, and quality control personnel to

A Brief Note On Diabetes Prevalence Rate And Socioeconomic...
Diabetes is a major health problem in the United States. There is an increasing interest in the
relationship between diabetes and sociodemographic and lifestyle factors but the extent of the
geographical variability of diabetes with respect to these variables still remains unclear. The
regression models commonly used for diseasemodeling either use Ordinary Least Square (OLS)
regression by assuming all the explanatory variables have the same effect over geographical
locations or Geographically Weighted Regression (GWR) that assumes the effect of all the
explanatory variables vary over the geographical space. In reality, the effect of some of the
variables may be fixed (global) and other variables vary spatially (local). For this type of... Show

Diabetes is associated with obesity, physical inactivity, race and other socioeconomic covariates
(Hipp Chalise, 2015). There is a steady increase in type 2 diabetes prevalence especially in
adolescents and African Americans (Arslanian, 2000; Arslanian, Bacha, Saad, Gungor, 2005;

Studies of the correlates of diabetes ignore the spatial non stationarity by either fitting OLS
method or using all the variables as nonstationary by fitting GWR model. A number of studies
(Chen, Wu, Yang, Su, 2010; Dijkstra et al., 2013; Hipp Chalise, 2015; Siordia, Saenz, Tom, 2012)
used GWR model to study the association between diabetes and other covariates.

Leo Tolstoy View On Art
Leo Tolstoy Theory on art Лев Николаевич Толстой or known in
English as Leo Tolstoy, was a famous Russian writer who is also known as one of the greatest
authors of all time. Leo Tolstoy was a self confident man and was sure of his rightness. However,
this self confidence may have caused him involuntarily, to feel envious. Tolstoy rejected many
philosophical views since he was an outspoken sectarian (philosophical or political group or a
form of bigotry, intolerance towards those who hold different opinions from themselves).
Anything that could not be rationally explained, he did not accept. Tolstoy s theory is that Art
begins when a man, with the purpose of communicating to other people a feeling he once
experienced, calls it up again within himself and expresses it by certain external signs . In Leo
Tolstoy s theory, he tries to explain that just because art may look beautiful, it doesn t mean that
it holds any valuable lessons. Of course, there are many counter arguments to this theory but I
will try to look at this in a different perspective. Most of the people of the upper classes (popes
and clerics) in Tolstoy s time did not in fact believe in anything. Because the way the church
taught everyone caused these people to stop believing, this may have influenced Tolstoy s Theory.
Once seeing its inconsistency , sectarians such as Helchitsky, Francis of Assisi and Plato, were not
able to acknowledge the moral and social teaching of Christ, because a belief like that

Football provides some great examples of the basic concepts of physics! Physics is present in the
flight of the ball, the motion of the players, and the force of the tackles. This web page will show
you how physics applies to these areas of football.
What Exactly Is Physics and What Does It Have to Do with Football?
When you throw a football across the yard to your friend, you are using physics. You make

When a punter kicks a football, he can control three factors:
* the velocity or speed at which the ball leaves his foot * the angle of the kick * the rotation of the
football
The rotation of the ball (spiral) will influence how the ball slows down in flight, because the ball is
affected by air drag. A spiraling kick will have less air drag, will not slow down as much, and will
be able to stay in the air longer and go farther than an end over end kick. The velocity of the ball
and the angle of the kick are the major factors that determine:
* how long the ball will remain in the air (hang time) * how high the ball will go * how far the ball
will go
When the ball leaves the punter s foot, it is moving with a given velocity depending upon how
much force he kicks the ball with. The ball moves in two directions, horizontally and vertically.
Because the ball was launched at an angle, the velocity is divided into two pieces: a horizontal
component and a vertical component. How fast the ball goes in the horizontal direction and how
fast the ball goes in the vertical direction depend upon the angle of the kick. If the ball is kicked at
a steep angle, then it will have more velocity in the vertical direction than in the horizontal direction
the ball will go high, have a long hang time, but travel a short

The women s treatment of the students affected their productivity in the form of a self fulfilling

frustration of the students, and caused the boxes to be thrown at the wall.
As mentioned earlier, unnecessary conflict resulted in the wasting of resources, which is
counterproductive to any work environment. It slows down production capabilities, increases
financial expenses for damage goods, and increases safety risks. The students were being worked
at a pace that was too fast for their skill set. They tried to tell the women in control of the line speed

financially afford to send their child to a commendable college in order to acquire a prestigious
degree. This is truly a shame, but in some unfortunate cases, inevitable. In these tough economic
times, Americans need to be a part of at an excellent college, but they will first have to overcome
huge obstacles. Someone has to give in order for Americans to succeed.

Health Benefits Of Support Group Therapy
A support group is a gathering of people who share a common health concern or interest. (Healthy
Lifestyle: Stress Management, 2015) Support groups are created to help individuals with various
mental, medical, and personal histories understand that they are not alone in what they are going
through, creating an environment of open dialogue and non judgement. Professional group therapy
can make people feel uncomfortable in sharing the floor with others; in a support group, it is a
place to share advice, troubles, and experiences.
Support groups vary depending on the topic. Some are peer created, whether by someone affected
by the topic or someone who is interested in it, and some are created by organizations like charity
groups, mental health groups, or for educational purposes.

Character Analysis Of Lady Macbeth
In the play Macbeth by William Shakespeare, the character Lady Macbeth and her various
qualities are used to reinforce the idea that being ambitious can be beneficial, however it can also
have dire consequences. This Shakespearean tragedy is set in Scotland during the Middle Ages,
and follows the tale of Macbeth, a Scottish Thane, who succumbs to temptation in an attempt to
fulfil a set of prophecies and become King. During the play he becomes consumed by his dark
desires and murderous ambitions, which ultimately lead both himself and his wife to their deaths.
The author s various messages surrounding being ambitious are shown through; the immense
determination of Lady Macbeth, her successful manipulation of her husband, and her callous
nature. These qualities and their implied messages to the audienceare explored in the play through
the use of; dialogue, symbolism and other various language features.
One of Lady Macbeth s greatest strengths is her drive and determination to succeed in life.
Moreover, she was willing to do anything, even kill her own child and dash d the brains out of it
to get what she desired. Consequently this shows the immense lengths to which she is prepared
to go to and it is also highlights of the fact that sometimes you have to make sacrifices in order
for your objectives to be realised. The greatest sacrifice which Lady Macbeth makes is to that of
her feminism, Make thick my blood, stop up the access and passage to remorse. This imagery of
blood is an extreme example which shows that Lady Macbeth is willing to stop being a woman
because of her great male ambitions. However, as with all the recurring blood imagery throughout
the play, it is also a show of that fact that she will not feel any guilt for committing the atrocities she
does nor will she regret the fact that she abandoned her womanhood. Consequently, the reason
Lady Macbeth has been developed in such a way by the author is to show the cosmic power of
females. Women have historically been oppressed and so Lady Macbeth would have had to fight
her entire life in order to achieve greatness, whilst men like Macbeth get everything handed to them
on a golden platter. Social constraints would have denied Lady Macbeth the

Bonnie And Clyde Essay Introduction
Bonnie and Clyde is a kind of a realistic, drama, comedy, tragic, gangster movie, which was
produced by Warner Bros and directed by Arthur Penn. This movie was released in 1967 and it
was based on real life events. Bonnie and Clyde were two criminals who were traveling around
central United States, robbing banks in the hope of becoming rich and famous. Before they
began being partners in a crime, Bonnie was a hot, blonde waitress who worked in a cafГ© and
did not like her job because boys who came to the cafГ© usually wanted to take advantage of her.
On the other hand, Clyde was a young, handsome, small town thief who was robbing small stores
and gas stations for a living. They both lived in hope to change their old, boring lives.

There is a close zoom in of a shot of Bonnie s mother watching Bonnie and smiling at her.
Followed by this scene, in the distance we see Bonnie s mother who watches her daughter and
other members of the gang. She doesn t say much. When Bonnie was interacting with the rest of
her family, a close shot of her mother s face and her silence shows that she does not approve what
they do (Ebert, Roger). Another interesting moment of the intriguing snapshot of the negative
effect for the other members of the gang is depicted through the young men rolling down a hill.
Buck is shown playing with a small kid on his lap and essentially rides him like a horse. As well,

Figurative Language Used In The Beauty Poem Analysis
5. There are many poetic devices and figurative language used in both poems. In the innocence
poem the Nurse s song we see a metaphor when the nurse says, My heart is at rest within my breast
, meaning that the nurse is content and filled with peace and joy while watching the children at
play. Imagery and symbolism is used in both poems with the color greenwhich associates with
growth, fertility and spring. (Represent places of play and freedom) Also, in the Innocence
poem, imagery is used when said, Besides in the sky, the little birds fly and the hills are all
covered with sheep . These creatures are gentle just like the children are and the birds in particular
are symbolic of freedom. In the experiencepoem the word night , metaphorically represents danger
and sadness. (completely opposite of the innocence where light was used to positively portray the
children). In the experience poem the Nanny makes a metaphor when she says, My face turns
green and pale , the notes on the back of the book explain how this means that the Nurse is a sex
starved spinster. Meaningthat she is a woman who did not experience a happy youth, and who is
sick for the longings of experience, and who is maybe jealous of the children. The poetic devices
and figurative language impact the whole meaning of the poem completely, because without the
multiple metaphors and imagery used I would of never of guessed that the Nurses green and pale
face meant what it meant. (made the poems come together

Citizen Kane Research Paper. When Discussing The Greatest
Citizen Kane Research Paper When discussing the greatest films of all time, Citizen Kane,
directed by Orson Welles, usually comes up. It s influence in American cinema can still be felt
today, but at the time the film was not released without controversy. The main character in the
movie, Charles Foster Kane, is undeniably based of the real life figure of William Randolph Hearst,
a famous American newspaper publisher. Hearst was very aware of this fact and tried to hinder
the success of Welles picture by denying it any sort of press in his newspapers. Despite the smear
campaign Kane s influence lives on through Welles revolutionary filmic techniques and its presence
in pop culture.
At the beginning of production for Citizen Kane ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mayer helped Hearst by offering to buy the print of the film only to destroy it. Other Hearst
defenders intimidated film curators into not showing the movie. With the attacks were coming left
and right, Arnold Weissberger, the manager of Orson Welles
, sent this memo to him: This is not a
tempest in a teapot, it will not calm down, the forces opposed to us are constantly at work.
Members of The Hearst organization seemed to have it constantly out for Welles, even if direct
orders weren t given from Hearst himself. They repeatedly try to align Welles as a communist,
trying to get him on the Hollywood communist blacklist. The craziest scheme set forward by one
of Hearst s lackeys, was a plot to frame him as a pedophile. Welles was on a post film lecture tour
when a police officer stops him before entering his hotel room. The officer said that a
photographer had planted a fourteen year old girl in his closet, waiting for Welles to enter so he
could take pictures. Welles decided to stay overnight at the train station to avoid all the controversy.
Hearst s campaign to diminish the film s returns were, at the time, somewhat successful. The film
did get released and was the sixth highest grossing film of that year, the studios had expected more.
It went on to receive nine nominations and one win (best screenplay) from the 1941 Academy
Awards.
Citizen Kane as a film is highly heralded, its fresh techniques went on to influence film everywhere.

Evil In Dance Mom
Evil is something in our world that is very overlooked and not talked about. To be evil is to
encourage harm or hate toward another person other than yourself. But Why is there evil? If a
person is evil, are they born evil? Or what makes a person evil? There has always been a constant
feud between the nature vs. nurture debacle. The say that nature theory holds that genetic influence
over abstract traits however, it is nurture that affects our behavioral innocence. People, places, and
our experiences can affect how we act towards others. How behavior is a huge factor when dealing
with other people. It can affect how we treat others and how others treat us.

person can earn up to five points a month for good attendance. Two times a year, the accumulated
points are converted into paid personal time by a 10 point block system. If an employee earned
30 points, he or she would receive 24 hours of paid personal time off, or have it converted into
paid hours. On the other hand, employees can lose points for tardiness, leaving earlier than the
regular assigned work time, or not coming in to work. When an employee loses up to 60 points,
he or she is let go, or considered a voluntary quit. The points are also use to determine an
employee s share of the company s profit sharing system. Employees are eligible for full share of
the profit sharing program if they have over 100 points. If an employee s points are lower than
100, their portion of the profit sharing program is reduced to his or her point level.

Dante s Inferno How the Punishment Fits the Crime
To merely say that Dante was interested in the world of hell would be an understatement. His
needs to explore and write about the nine different realms could best be described as an obsession.
It s an adventure, a tale, a dream (or nightmare) of different historical, biblical, and Greek gods and
creatures living their lives in the afterlife of the underground world. Each level has its own form of
punishment fitting the crime one has committed.
Level one, Limbo: for those who have not acted upon sin to be punished for, but rather didn t
accept Christ as their savior. Those in Limbo aren t harmed or living in suffering. They live in a
deficient form of heaven. The place is green and peaceful, but the people there are full of ... Show

Both sinners lived in anger and either with themselves or at others. The individuals that
expressed their anger are there fighting each other, ripping at each other s skin. The gloomy, yet
mad live beneath the river, forever indebted to sadness. Because the sullen have lived their lives
being in constant anger with themselves, they continue to live so in that exact manner. Circles
six through nine are those who have committed a more serious, heinous crime than those in one
through five. For Dante, the most serious crimes are those of betrayal. (Pg 788, Chevigny)
Circle six is the introductory of lower levels. The theme of this level is heresy. Those who have
questioned or attempted to stray from church reside here. The people of level six are in tombs that
are on fire. This is a slight preview of the hell we think of today. To question the Christian faith and
to knowingly and openly think that there is no afterlife, but instead believe that the soul dies with
the body is the best to describe their punishment. People become aware of a heaven or hell the
moment they die. And once that hit that moment, it s too late to decide whether or not there is
such existence. For that reason, they are forever stuck in their tombs (or modern day caskets) and
live in constant sensation of being burned. There are three rings in circle seven determined by the
type of violence they ve committed. The outer ring is reserved for the

The Tragic Hero And Butterworth s Johnny Byron
Jez Butterworth undeniably flaunts the conventions of comedy in Jerusalem to create a profound
but amusing philosophical satire, observing and mocking modern society. Morally objectionable
ideals present in everyday life are examined and ridiculed, inevitably leading to the development of
morally objectionable characters and social groups. As a result, Johnny Byron doesn t neatly fit the
definitions of either a tragic heroor a comedic protagonist but instead has traits of the two. He is
both an outrageously hedonistic Falstaffian character whist arousing pity and fear, able to question
the motivation of other characters whilst himself being hubristic and unable to admit error. Despite
his comedic attributes, Byron s character undoubtedly lends itself more to the tragic arc as the
audience witnesses his bloody downfall from relative grace, evoking both pity and disgust.
The most obvious parallel between the Aristotelian tragic hero and Butterworth s Johnny Byron is
the uncovering of his tragic flaw. Throughout the drama Byron demonstrates an inability to move
on or mature, symbolised by his fairly permanent caravan along with the many relics of a time
gone by scattered about his clearing. It s possible that Butterworth intended this to be a metaphor
for England and traditional views of Englishness (most obviously symbolised by a sign reading
Waterloo on the side of the caravan), and that through this satire he is lamenting man s fate as
Englishness is lost through

  • 2. Gene Expression in Eukaryotes Gene expression in eukaryotes can be broken down into three stages. These stages include Transcription, RNA processing, and Translation. These steps are similar to gene expression in prokaryotes but RNA processing is specific to gene expression in eukaryotes. Transcription Transcription happens in the cell nucleus. This is where DNA can be found. For example you can use DNA as instructions to make certain things such as proteins, but, these instructions are in a different language and you do not understand them, so the workers that will eventually assemble them cannot work with them. This is where mRNA will come into play. The mRNA will provide the workers or cells with new instructions that will be used to build the protiens. In transcription DNA is unzipped and the enzyme RNA polymerase RNA polymerase binds to the promoter region. This starts the unwinding of the DNA strands, and the polymerase starts RNA synthesis which runs along the template strand of the DNA. In eukaryotic cells proteins called transcription factors bind to promoters that include a TATA box, 25 nucleotides upstream from the start of transcription. After, more transcription factors will bind to the DNA, together with RNA polymerase II, forming the transcription initiation complex. The second step of transcription is the process of elongation. This is where the polymerase moves downstream while it unwinds the DNA and elongates the RNA from 5 to 3 . As the RNA synthesis continues downstream the new ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Martin Luther King s An Indigenous Peoples History Of... Martin Luther King Jr. once said, the ultimate tragedy is not the oppression and cruelty by the bad people but the silence over that by the good people . This quote resonates with me because it explains how normal it has become in our society to dismiss history or the various forms of oppression and dominations. Prior to reading An Indigenous Peoples History of the United States, I had very limited knowledge of the massacres, enslavement and tragedies that the Native Americans tribes endured because of colonization. As an immigrant to the United States, I did not know a lot about Native Americans nor were they part of the larger academic conversation. In school the most we were taught about Native Americans were that Columbus sailed the oceans in 1492, looking for India but instead he discovered... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Typically, during these lessons, we were also taught about the pilgrims and how they came to colonies in search of freedom. In addition to this, there were also conversations about Puritans, Native American s and a brief description of the trail of tears. My initial response to learning about the Americas, and the fact that it was not a new world as it is most often referred as was surprising and informative. In chapter 1, Follow the Corn, it talks about the multiple varieties and colors of corn, squash, beans, potatoes and other agricultures. I felt a bit ignorant and misinformed because it had never occurred to me that prior to the Europeans arrival to the new world, there was some complex systems in place that helped the Natives survive. I think part of this narrow mindedness comes from what I have been taught, which portrays Native Americans as uncivilized, tribal people. This chapter was interesting because it introduces ... • 4. Eumenides Views On The Rule Of Law And Civil Process Is it realistic for justice to effectively perform its function of keeping order without the rule of law? As someone who lived all his life within in civil democracy, it is fair to say that I have biased, yet, supportive views regarding need for order, law and institutions as a way to promote the pillar of modern society: justice. This idea of the rule of law and civil process has not always been apart our world, as we used to operate under a much more barbaric system, one both lacking a civil and democratic process. This essay will argue that in Eumenides, the shift in views on the role of the rule of law and social order on matters of justice is displayed through the character progression of the furies from ones of vengeance and bloodthirst to ones of compassion, reason and forgiveness. It is also worth mentioning that the shift from the older conception of justice to a newer one also reflects the author s political leaning toward a society that embraces the rule of law as a way to favor a civil legal process in society. Prior to going over the importance of the Furies and the relevance of their character progression, it is imperative to understand the context in which they develop from Furies to Eumenides. In a nutshell, Orestes has come to the temple of Apolloin Delphi to purify himself from the sin of killing his mother, Clytemnestra. After expressing his concerns, Apollo essentially tells him that he will act as his guardian and protect him, as he requested ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Indians Journey We just started to leave Independence rock, I discovered that it s been getting hotter and hotter on the trail towards Oregon. We ve had a couple cows die from bad water, and some chickens got crushed by the wheels of my wagon. We all are sunburned from the blazing sun, and we don t have any medication for that besides long sleeve shirts. I m surprised that we haven t had any Indian attacks yet, I thought those would happen a lot. Hopefully when we do see some Indians, they will be friendly and kind instead of wanting to steal from us and kill us. I m sure that we will encounter some good and bad ones along the south pass, so we should always be ready since we are very far from any stores or any other people. I have a pistol on the side of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Breakfast didn t have to many mosquitoes in them, and rounding up the oxen, chicken, and cows were quite easier than normal. Today is going to be a good day I thought to myself. We were all traveling behind the leader, when he stopped at this bubbling pool of water. He screamed, We re here! I had no clue what here was but I just followed what everyone else was doing. They said we could wash our clothes here and clean up everything, so I did. It was very warm water, and I thought it was boiling but it was just from ancient volcanic activity. All of our clothes were washed and I was right about the good day I was going to have. For some reason I wasn t sore or tired when I woke up, so that led me to believe that I was going to have a good day. We left Soda Spring around lunch time and our next stop was Fort Hall. I heard Fort Hall you can trade things for hats and other types of clothing. When we get there I m going to buy a hat to keep the sun out of my eyes. I heard you can also buy other things like repair kits and that stuff. We reached Fort Hall at about 6 o clock at night. We decided to rest for the rest of the day, because there s no point to go out for 2 hours to move on the journey. In the morning we left at 6 because we forgot to wake up, and we left Fort Hall. About a week and a half later we came upon the Three Island Crossing. Now we had to cross the snake river. Our choices were to ride a ferry along the shallow looking river, or float along the river with the wagon and making our animals swim. I talked to Mr. Swanson about this because I didn t want to try and guide my oxen and cow along the river, that just seems outrageous. I finally convinced him to make us take the ferry, because it would be a lot easier and the cost is only $20. We made it across easy with nothing bad happening, and now we are on the other side. I m afraid one of these days I will accidentally drop ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Investigating The Behavior Of Animals Investigating the behavior of animals is essential to understanding the implications for why an animal may do things the way they do. It helps shine some light on a subject that is not heavily researched and give us a better understanding of the feeding behavior, reproductive patterns, seasonal movement and communication between other animals. As boring or bland as animal observation may be it gives us an increased outlook on the many reasons for an animal s demeanor. I got the opportunity to observe and analyze White tailed Deerin their natural habitat and get a better understanding for that of their various behaviors. White tails in general have interesting behavioural characteristics that define them as a species and enable their survival in the wild. Food is an essential part of the survival of a species from one generation to the next carrying over good genes or genes of malnutrition, famine and death. Throughout this project, I was able to observe some interesting feeding behavior carried out by that of White tailed Deer. For example, after analyzing my observations, I came to the conclusion that White tails eat a variety of foods from various fruits, grasses, twigs, sedges and aquatic plants. On August twenty third, day one of observation, I as well saw a spike buck consume various mushrooms and that astonished me. Due to mushrooms being toxic and are in many instances poisonous, I was just surprised to see White tails consume them as a part of their diet. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Egg Freezing Research Paper Is Egg Freezing Really the Way to Halt Our Biological Clock? Trending in America, even amongst women in their twenties, is freezing our eggs really the answer to putting us in control of becoming mothers at a later stage in life? With clinics in the UK reporting up to a 400% increase in levels of interest, we have a look at whether this expensive procedure is the way forward. Egg Banking Advances: Vitrification is the preferred egg freezing method due to its ability to avoid the formation of ice crystals by reducing the temperature up to 600 times faster than previous, less successful processes. This recent advancement to the egg freezing process has brought the level of transfer rates equal to those of fresh eggs. Survival rates of fertilised,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In society today, it is not uncommon for females to spend their twenties and early thirties furthering their education and progressing in their profession and the ability to freeze their eggs can certainly take the pressure off the battle against the biological clock. Difficulties with the economic crisis have led to people reaching financial stability later than ever before. The rise in property prices and the increasing cost of living are reasons why the option of freezing eggs is becoming so popular. During our prime years, many females are struggling in rented accommodation, paying off student debts and lacking job security which means they feel unable to consider comfortably starting a family until years down the line. With more time being spent in work and education, it leaves less opportunity to find the perfect man to settle down with and have a family. Increasingly, women are using the option of freezing their eggs as a safety net, allowing them to give birth when their biological clock is telling them otherwise. This is also a common method for females who have their first baby at a mature age and are determined to have more than one. Egg freezing will increase the likeliness of this, even after they reach the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Even though Cavaliers superstar LeBron James notched his eighth NBA Finals triple double, tying him with Magic Johnson for the most in NBA Finals history, it was not enough to overcome the offensive firepower of the Warriors. Just like in Game 1, it was once again the Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry show. Here are three takeaways from Game 2: 1. Kevin Durant is on his way to potentially being named Finals MVP After his phenomenal Game 1 performance, many people wondered what Kevin Durant would do for an encore performance in Game 2? To answer that question, Durant did not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Despite his stellar perimeter defense, the Warriors needed Thompson to find his shot again and give them an extra offensive boost in Game 2. Thompson did just that as he pitched in with 22 points and seven rebounds, plus knocked down 4 of 7 from three point range. Give Thompson credit though, he is an outstanding shooter and when you are a shooter like him, you need to have a short memory. A missed shot will not make or break you. Thompson was knocking down shots inside the arc, putting the ball on the floor, and dialing it up from distance. The Warriors will need him to continue to shoot the ball like he did on Sunday night, especially if they want to win Game 3 on Tuesday night and take a commanding 3 0 series lead. 3. LeBron James is still the greatest player in the world but he cannot do it all Once again in the NBA Finals, LeBron James gave us another special performance. As I mentioned earlier, James posted his eighth NBA Finals triple double consisting of 29 points, 14 rebounds, and 11 assists, but it was not enough. Early in the game, James was playing like a man possessed. He was controlling the tempo, attacking the basket with force and tenacity, while also getting his teammates involved. He also threw down a powerful dunk on Andre Iguodala, who was at the wrong place at the wrong time. However, James teammates could not reciprocate the favor and help him out. They should at least not kill them like that. It horrible the way they do. They are not thinking what pain and suffer the animals go through when they are killing them savagely. And how they treat them is no way any human should be treating an animal. They should really consider other ways of doing it but not in a savagely way. When chickens are put in cages they are all being stuffed together and they can even stretch out their wings or even some of them don t even get to see the sun of light or even smell fresh air from outside because they are all in cages. When they get them out, some farmers throw them around until they are dead. They will bash their heads with their cages. Or some of the farmers will slice their throat. When they kill a baby chicken, they don t even let them grow. Ones they are hatch they get killed. Some of the farmers throw the chickens all together in a bag so they could suffocate or they will throw them into a machine so they could be killed. It s horrible because they take them away from their mother when they hatch. When the cows are killed it is horrible they put them a machine that spins them around and then they slice their throat. London During The Industrial Revolution London, the capital of the Industrial Revolution in the 1750s, created textile factories that increased the demand for labor, urbanization, population and food supply. This led to a migration of people into the cities and away from rural areas to look for work. At this time, London had a laissez faire economic system where the government did not interfere with private property meaning that it was free from regulation. Therefore, private slaughterhouses were all around the city to provide people with fresh meatand for butchers to make a profit. But, slaughtering in London had negative consequences like the smell and traffic congestion causing hazards to the public leading reformers to demand government regulation. One of the state s first actions was replacing Smithfield Market in 1855 with the Metropolitan Cattle Market in the suburbs where it can connect to railway transportations. This proved a relief from traffic congestion in the city with the use of railways that opened a gateway to an increase in country killed meat as opposed to meat from livestock slaughtered in London. This gradual increase in country killed meat was malignant to the butcher s business because it meant less livestock would be slaughtered in the city and less profit. Also, the government realized that public health regulation is needed to protect the people from meat not inspected that could cause fatal diseases because the state is responsible for securing the well being of its people. Hence, the state passed the Buildings Act (1844) and the Metropolis Act (1873) giving power to the state to regulate the slaughtering process and monitor the waste disposal from slaughtering. Thus, after these state actions the relationship between the food and the state is gradually converging under the control of the government. These regulations almost caused the extinction of private slaughterhouses because there was a decrease in private slaughterhouses from 1,500 in 1873 to 455 in 1897. Comparison Of Democracy And The Republic Both the pure democracy and the republic are centered around the ideal that the commoners have equal say in the decision making process, typically this is done through a representative system (congress, senate, parliament, executives or others) to simplify the voting and decision making process. Where they differ is in the fact that a Constitutional Republic provides protection to the rights of minorities from the will of the majority; in a true democracythe majority rules over minority groups without limit. The citizens of the United Statesenjoy the protection of a strong constitution, made even stronger by its first ten amendments: The Bill of Rights. It s that our own selves come with a deadline, but the world we live in keeps revolving. In my eyes, it signifies that no one person is greater than the other as each one of us are alike. This poem caught my interest with all images shown from the text. It certainly makes me feel all of what the author is attempting to visibly demonstrate. This poem displays what occurs in everyday life as one goes away the world keeps moving, further new forms of life make it back. As for my perspective, this signifies that one is washed away or realistically passes away while another comes to life. It is just a cycle that never has an ending. As for the whole poem, the meaning is about how death is an enormous factor in the world that our own selves live in. It has an extensive role as every single one of us going to perish at some point, but there is always someone new that will replace us when we re gone. It shows how nature is with a non ending cycle, which keeps our life ways to continue for bounteous years to come. The poem has a nice but also a mournful meaning to it. Our way in which us life organisms live as death being an immense factor, having a great deal of a sentimental value. • 20. The Ethics Of Executions Should Be Legal The Ethics of Executions Over the past 10 years, more death row inmates have preferred execution to facing seemingly endless years of appeals, states an ABC News article (Robinson). With the ever increasing number of executions, the controversial debate over the legality of capital punishment creates a divide within the population. A wedge that separates the people who support capital punishmentis one complicated question: what role should a doctor play in executions? Doctors should be advocates for their patients no matter what the circumstances. Despite the infraction of American Medical Association (AMA) policy, it is important for a licensed medical professional with the correct knowledge and experience to monitor the execution. While a doctor should be on the scene in case of emergency, they should not play an active role in executions as is the policy in Texas and other states. The first thing to remember is that all doctors must adhere to the Hippocratic Oath which requires them to do no harm to their patients. However, the bounds of this oath are widely debated on cases that span Do Not Resuscitate directives, physician assisted suicide, executions, and anything that results in the death of a patient. In the case of executions, AMA policy states that it is unethical for doctors to be involved except in a peripheral way (Tanner). The gambling mania of the story s hero, Alexei Ivanovitch, is a mirror of Dostoyevsky s own gambling compulsion. The heroine, Polina Alexandrovna, represents a woman Dostoyevsky had as a real lover. Polina is the stepdaughter of the General, who Alexei works for as a servant. The General shows paranoia over gambling from the outset of the story. Modernism took place right after WWII and is classified by consciously trying to break away from original styles of writing such as Romanticism and Realism and the other styles that appeared before them. The modernist movement was driven by desire to talk about new things and express the true feelings of the age the authors lived in. This was the reason why many modernists wrote about World War. Modernism is one of the most important styles of writing because it brought a completely new way of writing which allowed authors to write about anything including profanity. As mentioned before, The Catcher in the Rye was one of the first modernism books which talked about sexuality and profanity. Holden openly talks about his sexual relations, which caused a lot of controversy within the readers. Because modernism was only beginning to develop, society had to get used to new things. Modernist style of writing nearly doesn t focus on describing the surroundings. It focuses on character s actions, character s perception of things, moods. In The Catcher in the Rye, Salinger nearly doesn t focus on describing anything except the main characters. Salinger ties Holden to modernism as a character who breaks all the rules and refuses being normal. If modernism was a character, it would definitely be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. A Comparison Of Nicholas And The American Restoration... Allen Diles, in A Comparison of Nicholas of Pelhrimov and the Taborite Restoration with Alexander Campbell and the American Restoration Movement, attempts to relate religious movements that occurred more than four centuries apart: the Taborite Restoration and the American Restoration. Further focus is place on the leaders of these movements, Nicholas of Pelhrimov and Alexander Campbell. A connection between these two men is scarcely made; moreover, many students of religion are ignorant to the existence of the Taborite Restoration and Nicholas of Pelhrimov. Diles endeavor to connect these men and the reformation movements they were involved in was lucrative, as it connected a semi modern movement with a little known medieval movement, but his presentation of the connection between these movements prevents the connection from emerging in a manner as compelling as it possibly could have. Diles composes his article in response to the neglect of the Hussite movement, of which the Taborites formed the radical wing of, in modern times and the often exclusion of Nicholas of Pelhrimov, an individual whom he feels was critical, when the Hussite movement is studied. In his thesis, Diles states, Although Nicholas himself is obscure to Americans and among scholars of the Stone Campbell Movement, the Taborite movement is rarely mentioned, and examination of Nicholas and his movement reveals striking similarities in thought, if not in form, between the medieval Taborite reform and that ... Typically fitted to the stacks of factories and power stations, electrostatic precipitators are designed to filter out dust particles from exhaust gases produced by industrial work. 99.9% of the dust particulates is captured by the precipitator, reducing the amount of dirty air passing into the atmosphere. Once air particulates have been removed, a significant part of the risk of damage to people have been removed as well. As stated in the quote above, one hundred thousand lives in Europe are lost annually due to ailments and illnesses caused by or complicated by particulates. Using electrostatic precipitators prevent more deaths from taking place. Particulates and air pollution are also very harmful to the environment. Excessive air pollution and emissions of gases such as sulphur dioxide can cause acid rain, which acidifies the soil, rendering it unsuitable for growth of crops and greenery. Much of the harmful gases come from manmade sources, such as power plants, factories and vehicles. Particulates also a cause of smog, which can cause plenty of ill effects. Exposure to the ozone, carbon monoxide, sulphur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide contained in the smog can cause inflamed lung passages and pain while inhaling. Cleaner air can help a city economically. In recent years, many expatriates have returned to their country of origin due to the deteriorating quality of the air in Hong Kong, reducing the skilled workforce available in the city. Implementing Best Procurement And Acquisition Practices In order to institutionalize best procurement and acquisition practices in an organization, I would begin by forming a cross functional team made up of supply management personnel, finance personnel, attorneys, human resources, engineers, and other subject matter experts. As was highlighted in chapter ___ of the class text, this is the best approach for ensuring that the broadest possible range of ideas and perspectives are incorporated early into the planning process. Additionally, it ensures that a great idea conceived of by one functional area is viewed from within the restrictions and/or limitations imposed by another. As with specifications development, this process allows the team to develop a reasonable, effective, and implementable plan that works across functional areas and provides the greatest return on investment. One company that has been particularly successful in implementing best practices is Toyota. I would adopt that companies approach to implementing best practices by delegating responsibility down to the lowest level. For example, if anyone on the factory floor spots a deficiency, he or she has the authority to stop the assembly line so that the condition and its contributing factors may be examined, recorded, and analyzed. This same principle could be applied to the acquisition process. By empowering rank and file purchasers, contract specialists, contract administrators, and quality control personnel to approach managementand provide input on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There is an increasing interest in the relationship between diabetes and sociodemographic and lifestyle factors but the extent of the geographical variability of diabetes with respect to these variables still remains unclear. The regression models commonly used for diseasemodeling either use Ordinary Least Square (OLS) regression by assuming all the explanatory variables have the same effect over geographical locations or Geographically Weighted Regression (GWR) that assumes the effect of all the explanatory variables vary over the geographical space. In reality, the effect of some of the variables may be fixed (global) and other variables vary spatially (local). For this type of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Diabetes is associated with obesity, physical inactivity, race and other socioeconomic covariates (Hipp Chalise, 2015). There is a steady increase in type 2 diabetes prevalence especially in adolescents and African Americans (Arslanian, 2000; Arslanian, Bacha, Saad, Gungor, 2005; Harris, 2001). Studies of the correlates of diabetes ignore the spatial non stationarity by either fitting OLS method or using all the variables as nonstationary by fitting GWR model. A number of studies (Chen, Wu, Yang, Su, 2010; Dijkstra et al., 2013; Hipp Chalise, 2015; Siordia, Saenz, Tom, 2012) used GWR model to study the association between diabetes and other covariates. • 37. Leo Tolstoy View On Art Leo Tolstoy Theory on art Лев Николаевич Толстой or known in English as Leo Tolstoy, was a famous Russian writer who is also known as one of the greatest authors of all time. Leo Tolstoy was a self confident man and was sure of his rightness. However, this self confidence may have caused him involuntarily, to feel envious. Tolstoy rejected many philosophical views since he was an outspoken sectarian (philosophical or political group or a form of bigotry, intolerance towards those who hold different opinions from themselves). Anything that could not be rationally explained, he did not accept. Tolstoy s theory is that Art begins when a man, with the purpose of communicating to other people a feeling he once experienced, calls it up again within himself and expresses it by certain external signs . In Leo Tolstoy s theory, he tries to explain that just because art may look beautiful, it doesn t mean that it holds any valuable lessons. Of course, there are many counter arguments to this theory but I will try to look at this in a different perspective. Most of the people of the upper classes (popes and clerics) in Tolstoy s time did not in fact believe in anything. Because the way the church taught everyone caused these people to stop believing, this may have influenced Tolstoy s Theory. Once seeing its inconsistency , sectarians such as Helchitsky, Francis of Assisi and Plato, were not able to acknowledge the moral and social teaching of Christ, because a belief like that ... When a punter kicks a football, he can control three factors: * the velocity or speed at which the ball leaves his foot * the angle of the kick * the rotation of the football The rotation of the ball (spiral) will influence how the ball slows down in flight, because the ball is affected by air drag. A spiraling kick will have less air drag, will not slow down as much, and will be able to stay in the air longer and go farther than an end over end kick. The velocity of the ball and the angle of the kick are the major factors that determine: * how long the ball will remain in the air (hang time) * how high the ball will go * how far the ball will go When the ball leaves the punter s foot, it is moving with a given velocity depending upon how much force he kicks the ball with. The ball moves in two directions, horizontally and vertically. Because the ball was launched at an angle, the velocity is divided into two pieces: a horizontal component and a vertical component. How fast the ball goes in the horizontal direction and how fast the ball goes in the vertical direction depend upon the angle of the kick. If the ball is kicked at a steep angle, then it will have more velocity in the vertical direction than in the horizontal direction the ball will go high, have a long hang time, but travel a short ... • 43. Character Analysis Of Lady Macbeth In the play Macbeth by William Shakespeare, the character Lady Macbeth and her various qualities are used to reinforce the idea that being ambitious can be beneficial, however it can also have dire consequences. This Shakespearean tragedy is set in Scotland during the Middle Ages, and follows the tale of Macbeth, a Scottish Thane, who succumbs to temptation in an attempt to fulfil a set of prophecies and become King. During the play he becomes consumed by his dark desires and murderous ambitions, which ultimately lead both himself and his wife to their deaths. The author s various messages surrounding being ambitious are shown through; the immense determination of Lady Macbeth, her successful manipulation of her husband, and her callous nature. These qualities and their implied messages to the audienceare explored in the play through the use of; dialogue, symbolism and other various language features. One of Lady Macbeth s greatest strengths is her drive and determination to succeed in life. Moreover, she was willing to do anything, even kill her own child and dash d the brains out of it to get what she desired. Consequently this shows the immense lengths to which she is prepared to go to and it is also highlights of the fact that sometimes you have to make sacrifices in order for your objectives to be realised. The greatest sacrifice which Lady Macbeth makes is to that of her feminism, Make thick my blood, stop up the access and passage to remorse. This imagery of blood is an extreme example which shows that Lady Macbeth is willing to stop being a woman because of her great male ambitions. However, as with all the recurring blood imagery throughout the play, it is also a show of that fact that she will not feel any guilt for committing the atrocities she does nor will she regret the fact that she abandoned her womanhood. Consequently, the reason Lady Macbeth has been developed in such a way by the author is to show the cosmic power of females. Women have historically been oppressed and so Lady Macbeth would have had to fight her entire life in order to achieve greatness, whilst men like Macbeth get everything handed to them on a golden platter. Social constraints would have denied Lady Macbeth the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Imagery and symbolism is used in both poems with the color greenwhich associates with growth, fertility and spring. (Represent places of play and freedom) Also, in the Innocence poem, imagery is used when said, Besides in the sky, the little birds fly and the hills are all covered with sheep . These creatures are gentle just like the children are and the birds in particular are symbolic of freedom. In the experiencepoem the word night , metaphorically represents danger and sadness. Members of The Hearst organization seemed to have it constantly out for Welles, even if direct orders weren t given from Hearst himself. The Tragic Hero And Butterworth s Johnny Byron Jez Butterworth undeniably flaunts the conventions of comedy in Jerusalem to create a profound but amusing philosophical satire, observing and mocking modern society. Morally objectionable ideals present in everyday life are examined and ridiculed, inevitably leading to the development of morally objectionable characters and social groups. As a result, Johnny Byron doesn t neatly fit the definitions of either a tragic heroor a comedic protagonist but instead has traits of the two. He is both an outrageously hedonistic Falstaffian character whist arousing pity and fear, able to question the motivation of other characters whilst himself being hubristic and unable to admit error. Despite his comedic attributes, Byron s character undoubtedly lends itself more to the tragic arc as the audience witnesses his bloody downfall from relative grace, evoking both pity and disgust.
