An Effective Implementation Strategy And The Transition...
Due to the entrenched culture and long standing history of execution through efficiency, the
transition towards teaming will be slow (Exhibit 7). A successful implementation strategy will be
one that realizes that the Lynn plant cannot become like Bromont or Durham overnight, although it
may quickly see similar growth rates that translate into material change over several years (Exhibit
8). An effective implementation strategy will allot enough time for workers to familiarize
themselves with the new model, appreciate it, and ultimately endorse it.
Recommendation 1: Mandate
The first step is to gather with members of the union and representatives from the workforce to
collaboratively build a mandate for the Lynn plant. A survey will be... Show more content on

Initially, the novelty of a mandate would ensure its circulation and compliance; however after a few
months, it could easily be forgotten. Print outs may address short term risk mitigation, however in
the long term, the mandate should be updated once every three years to reflect the dynamicity of
the issues the plant might be facing. The Management Team can emphasize a push toward
execution through learning and would also force the plant out of complacency through redefinition
of its overall goals.
Recommendation 2: Formation of Committees
Creating five different committees can introduce a reciprocal interdependence between
management and frontline workers (Exhibit 10). Aiming to eliminate the issues caused by
misaligned goals, workforce complacency, and poor leadership, the committees will serve as a
channel for communication, instrument for instilling accountability, and a medium for mentorship.
The structure of each committee will allow for decision making input from both front line workers
and management. Committees will meet on a biweekly basis to discuss issues arising in the plant s
daily operations. Since management currently has a poor record for handling employee grievances,
the intent of these committees will be to build a psychologically safe, trusting, and collaborative
environment where issues are presented and addressed in a timely manner. Committees will also be

Language And Culture In Ken Wiwa s Get Beyond Babel
Ken Wiwa presents several ideas pertaining to language and culture within his essay, Get Beyond
Babel. Wiwa explains that every language has a chance of dying out over time. For any language
to survive through years of societal changes, it must be adapted so it can be used to embrace other
cultures, new technology and new perspectives. Wiwa presents the concept that language is the
same as culture. I do not agree with this concept because I believe that culture is carried by the
people, not by the language.
Wiwa uses the idea that languages never die if they are always taking concepts from other
languages. My parents mother tongue is a prime example of countering the statement. My parents
were both born in Sri Lanka and spoke Tamil as they grew up, which is a language that has been
around for over 2000 years. It is a language that was primarily used in South Asia, but has grown.
The language of Tamil did not always have to adopt terms from other languages to expand. Over
100 million people today continue to speak the language. As a language, Anglo Saxon, or Old
English, was very different from modern English, similarly to Tamil. However, Tamil is a
language that has been able to thrive on its own. Tamil counters Wiwa s idea that languages absorb
other dialects to survive. In fact, in South Asia, it is the other way around and dialects in Sri Lanka
must adopt the Tamil languageto stay relevant. The language of Tamil did not become extinct or
endangered because of the

The Education Of High School Students Essay
Introduction
In today s education of high school students, are we keeping up with the 21st century, or, are we
still doing the same old thing? The British started the idea of traditional schools hundreds of years
ago. After the American Revolution around the late 1700 s, and the early 1800 s, government
supported schools started. These schools educated students of all ages in one room with one
teacher. These schools were not free. In the late 1800 s, high schools were considered to be
preparatory academies for students who were going to attend college. In the early 1900 s, the same
schools were transformed into core elements now preparing students for work after high school. By
the middle 1900 s, states required students to attend school from the ages of 8 14 and to complete
elementary school. They also switched their emphasis back to prepare students for the growing
state and private universities. In 2001, the United States entered its current era of education
accountability/reform with the institution of the No Child Left Behind law. The Every Child
Succeeds Act has replaced No Child Left Behind. The 21st century calls for a higher order of
skills, abilities, and learning dispositions that society and workplaces are expecting and demanding.
Employers want deeper learning, analytic reasoning, complex problem solving, teamwork, and
experience in career fields.
I think you can agree that our technology is fantastic. We have gone one to one with computers,

Predominantly White Institution ( Pwi )
Predominantly white institution (PWI) is a term used to describe institutions of higher learning,
particularly four year colleges and universities, in which Whites make up 50% or more of the
student demographics (Sage Pub). Predominantly White colleges and universities are different from
other colleges and universities that serve students with different ethnic, racial, and cultural
backgrounds, such as historically Black colleges and universities(HBCU). Being an African
Americanat an PWI can be intimidating. I myself endure this task everyday. People think that its

Unit 2 Harvard Personal Statement
My ultimate vision is to see a Liberia where football once more becomes a national pride. It is sad
to see that power of football has been underestimated. The last time Liberia participated in a major
continental tournament was in 2002, when Liberia participated in the World Cup qualifiers and
African Cup of Nations. Just like other African countries, it is evident that Liberia has natural
talents in footballbut the lack of proper management and sport programs have caused the beautiful
game to lost interest in Liberia.
Liberia is the only country on the African continent that produced a FIFAWorld Player of the Year,
in person of Ambassador George Weah of AC Millan in 1995. Since the retirement of the George
Weah and his team, which consisted of current national team captain, James Debbah, Kelvin
Sebwe, Joe Nagbe, Oliver Markor, Prince Daye, Musa Shannon, Zizi Roberts, amongst others, the

Teaching Alternative Behavior
DeRosa, Roane, Doyle and McCarthy conducted a 2013 study on the use of alternative behaviors to
target different behaviors within the same response class. Swearing, talking out and yelling can all
be considered part of the same response class that are used as a method to gain attention from
others. Through the use of differential reinforcement, the students can be taught to produce more
appropriate methods of obtaining the desired responses. According to DeRosa, et al (2013), this
method of teaching alternative responding has been proven effective in decreasing the likelihood of
more severe behaviors from occurring. In this study, the alternative behaviorwas prompted by the

Wednesdays and Fridays, and on the same days by his parents after Joey has gone to bed for the
evening. The data is being collected by recording the antecedent, behavior and consequence
(ABC) for the occurrence of swearing. Swearing is operationally defined as the use of any form
of inappropriate language that is said out loud by Joey. A premade data sheet as been made and
distributed to his teacher and his parents. The data sheet was explained and allowed for the teacher

Intervention evaluation The reduction of the problem behavior will be monitored to see if there
is a decrease in swearing and an increase in the use of the replacement behavior. If there is a not a

Thirty Years War
Background A thorough understanding of the Thirty Years War is essential in discussing the effects
of the Peace of Westphalia. Religion dominated authority in Europe in the 16th century, namely
Catholicism. However, dissatisfaction grew as the Protestant Reformation gained more followers,
resulting in tension and divisions throughout the Holy Roman Empire. Weakened imperial power
and unrest between ruler and subjects began as early as 1555. Although the Thirty Years War broke
out based on religious conflicts, the motives of the war became mainly of political supremacy as
fighting continued on a continental scale in the latter years. It pitted Protestant against Catholic, the
Holy Roman Empire against France, the German princes and princelings

Analysis Of Frank Zappa, John Cage, And Pamela Z
Throughout this course, the composers we studied all had different approached to creating music,
and that is why many of them are well known today. The three most notable composers who
combine unusual elements in their music were Frank Zappa, John Cage, and Pamela Z.
Frank Zappa was an American artist who had no desire to fit into a single style of music, and he had
no interest in creating music for cultural conventions. He created music in the manners he saw fit.
His music has influence from rock, pop, modern classical, and jazz music, but his pieces are far
from fitting into one of those labels. The most notable album Frank Zappa created that was Jazz
From Hell. This album was highly unique because all the pieces on this album were ... Show more

Living Room Music is one his most performed pieces because it was fun for both the players and
the audience. In this piece, the player use common household items as instruments, often times
where house clothes, and are playing on a set designed to look like a living room. The quartet
uses unspecified items that could range from magazines, newspapers, tables, wooden furniture,
large books, the floor, the wall or a door. Within in this piece there are four movements. This piece
is an excellent example of John Cage s interest in non traditional instruments and timbre. John Cage
was willing to push many boundaries in his pieces. Although some individuals may not agree with
John Cage s approach to music, I believe his pieces are a great example of using unusual elements
to create a music that is characteristic to Cage.
Pamela Z is a composer who performs her compositions with her highly developed voice and
computer software. Pamela Z, although trained in classical performance, wanted to find a way to
perform contemporary music. In order to perform contemporary music, Pamela Z bought a delay
unit and began creating loops using her voice. Z was able to think about her voice in the areas of
texture and rhythm, the influence of outside texts, and how she could vary her vocal technique.

Linux Network Name Spaces
Overview
In this paper we will discuss the Linux Network Name Space. First, the concept of namespaces
will be described along with an overview of the default name spaces available in the Linux
operating system. The Linux Network Name Space is a key enabler for some high profile
virtualization technologies including OpenStack and Docker.
Linux Name Spaces
Linux consists of the following six namespaces:
Network Network Namespace
PID Process Namespace
Mount Filesystem Namespace
User User Namespace
IPC Interprocess Communication Namespace
UTS Host and NIS Namespace
Linux namespaces can be traced back to early UNIX technologies called chroot, process jails
controlled where access is controlled with cgroups. The concept of a namespace is to isolate
processes from other processes on the system. This concept evolved into namespaces that are
created with clone() system call and manipulated with the setns() and unshare() system calls. The
clone() system call is used when creating child namespace from a parent or root namespace. As
the name would suggest this creates a clone of an existing stack. The setns() system call is used to
join a namespace. The unshare() system call is used for moving processes into a namespace, as the
name suggests the process

Sympathy And Caged Bird Comparison
Freedom has been an essence to the American people for many decades. Indeed, because of
freedom, America was viewed as an ideal Land of the free by the foreign immigrants, who
experienced harsh voyages through sea to reach America. Furthermore, following the call for
freedom, the colonists rose in defiance to Great Britain in the War of Independence. In the United
States, the image of liberty, of self independence is reflected by many artworks and literary works.
Notably, among these artworks, Caged by Maya Angelou and Sympathy by Paul Laurence Dunbar
are the typical examples which most obviously express the hope of self independence. Although
Caged Bird and Sympathy use the similar literary device caged bird to convey the same message,...

Reading the poem, one shall firstly say that the tones of both works are obviously the same, for
Sympathy and Caged Bird show an alternative order of the tone of melancholy and the tone of
delight. For example, in Sympathy, the first stanza from line 1 to 7 gives the readers a feeling
of joy because of the serene scene sun is bright, springing grass, river flow, yet the next seven
lines conveys the picture of an extreme situation wherein blood is red on the cruel bars, giving
the reader a sense of desperation. In the same way, Angelou also repeated the same pattern in her
poem, that the readers can find tranquility in orange sun rays where free bird leaps from line 1 6
of the first stanza, but sadness in his narrow cage in the second stanza. Nevertheless, the nuance
in both works tones can be inferred in the last stanzas of Sympathy and Caged Bird. Whereas
Sympathy is solemn, but hopeful, Caged Bird seems to reflect a relinquishment to the
circumstance. Specifically, Dunbar expressed his hope that the bird would be emancipated of
his chain and the Black people would live in harmony with the White people to God on Heaven;
thus, a spirit of undefeated desire for freedom and a religious voice can be found in Sympathy. (15

Woolf On Lies
The struggle that women had to endure through the centuries has been rooted deeply to the idea
that women are inferior to men. Men, as the stronger sex, were thought to be intelligent,
courageous, and determined. Women, on the other hand, were more governed by their emotions,
and their virtues were expected to be chastity, modesty, compassion, and piety. Men were thought
to be more aggressive; women more passive. Women education was primarily at home by
mothers or fathers. The education comprised of the arts of sewing, water color, and polite
conversation for the upper class and domestic work for lower classes. Those who did attempt to
educate themselves in the male subjects of Greek and Latin were measured by male standards of
scholarship when they attempted to express themselves in print. While this might not be the
current situation for women in society women had to fight to get where they are right now. In this

The Machiavellian Approach to Management Essay
The Machiavellian Approach to Management
Whether you love him/her or hate him/her everybody has one...a boss. Most people have their
own opinions as to what kind of boss it is that they would like to work for. Most would probably
agree that the worst kind of boss is a new boss. This is more than likely due to people s
extraordinary fear of change and the unknown. Whatever the reason, the employee always has the
option to leave their position and seek work elsewhere. The same can not be said for subjects of
states, who by no action of their own, were to be ruled by a new prince. Just as varied as the ways in
which one inherits a new boss, likewise new principalities have an abundance of ways of being

Adding fuel to an already explosive situation, by making changes to company policy should be
avoided at all costs. However, as Machiavelli suggests that a boss by birth [has] less need to harm
his[/her] employees, thus putting some of the fears towards the new boss to rest (8).
When a principality is acquired through an acquisition of a non hostile nature, it is the prince who
may have fears. The prince of a mixed principality faces more difficulties than those of a hereditary
principality. Machiavelli suggests that these difficulties derive from one natural problem inherent in
all new principalities: men gladly change their masters, thinking to better themselves (8).
Additionally, the new prince is, out of necessity, going to offend his new subjects by bringing in his
soldiers and [causing] other countless injuries that are involved in his new conquest (8). These
same problems will face the management of a newly acquired business. Those employees that are
retained will automatically look to better their current position by less than honest means. Those
left over from the old regime may be inclined to steal from the company out of fear that they may
soon be replaced. Thus, endangering the already financially unstable situation that an acquisition

Importance Of Human Factors In Aviation
Introduction Human factors is the study of Human behaviour that has roughly been around for
2000 years. The study is based on how Humans behave physically and psychologically. In
Aviation, human factors have been applied since the last 70 years. The definition of human
factors from the point of aviation, means the same but in respect to the ergonomics of
technology and the flight crew, within the aircraft. The information is then converted into
training, procedures and systemizing routines of the flight crew simply in order for the safety
and for the wellbeing of the crew and the society. Crew health and lifestyle is essential when it
comes to the wellbeing and the performance is vital to its limitations, throughout the journey of
the aircraft. When spoken about the word safety, it is often associated about how boring or
repetitive it is in the modern world yet the Aviation industry. Safety is the freedom from any
dangers. It is a word that people should take seriously and should be a preaching word to change
any ill practises. In the world of Aviation where mishaps would occur at any given moment, the
educated personnel are taught not to ever rely on luck, when it comes to safety. It all comes down
to the welfare of the individual, the welfare of the company that associates with the individual and
the family of the individual. That is the reason why safety is so critical and is one of the very first
things that is taught in every class, job or even at home. This

Wireless Sensor Networks
Wireless sensor networks typically consist of a large number of sensor nodes with limited onboard
battery resources which are difficult to recharge or replace. Thus the reduction of energy
consumption for end to end data rate and maximization of network lifetime have become chief
research concern. In recent years, many techniques have been proposed for improving the energy
efficiency in wireless sensornetworks. Among these techniques, V MIMO technique has been
considered as one of the effective ways to save energy. In WSN a node has two communication
related energy consuming roles, one role is to serve as a packet generating source node (SN), and
the other role is to relay packets for the other nodes, which are both energy consuming operations.
This is why the energy minimization is required to extend the lifetime of the WSN.
WSN nodes are commonly designed to communicate using single input single output (SISO)
technology using a single transceiver antenna. Multiple input multiple output (MIMO) with space
time block codes is a communication method that uses multiple antenna to enable lower power
long distance wireless communication over multipath fading channel. It may impossible to apply
MIMO technology to small WSN devices since small sensor nodes may only be able to have a
single antenna. Therefore, through collaboration of several single antenna equipped devices, a
cooperative MIMO technique called virtual MIMO (V MIMO) has been proposed in [4].
The single hop energy

people they really were. Before surgery, Charlie s ignorance hid him from the true, harsh reality.
After surgery, Charlie s ignorance disappeared, making him realize how fake and disappointing

Essay on Christina Rossetti s Goblin Market
Christina Rossetti s Goblin Market
One of the strongest emotions inherent in us as humans is desire. The majority of the time, we are
unable to control what we crave; however, with practice, we learn not all things we want are
necessary. As a result of this mature understanding, we are able to ease our feelings and sometimes
even suppress our desires. Something even more mature is understanding that when we give in to
our desires, we become vulnerable. In a harsh, brutal world, vulnerability will not work to our
advantage. In Christina Rossetti s Goblin Market, she writes about a sister who succumbs to her

the 1980s and 1990s. GunViolence is violence committed with the use of a gun and recently there
has been an increase in gun crimes, but due to background checks they have decreased. A
background check is the process of looking up and compiling criminal records, commercial
records and financial records of an individual or an organization. It is proven that background
checks reduce homicide and suicides and background checks are the most effective way to reduce
gun related crimes. Background checks are only as effective as the person or company doing it, so
when a gun company fails to complete a proper background check, they should be held accountable
for the customer s actions.
Backgrounds checks are the most effective way of preventing gun related crimes. A study, done by
the National Library of Medicine, examines the relationship between the types of background
information check required by states prior to firearm purchases, and firearm deaths and the results
of the study concluded that more background checks are associated with fewer deaths. The Brady
Handgun Violence Prevention Actis an Act of the United States Congress that mandated federal

Who Was The Greatest Leader In Ww2 Essay
Who was the greatest leader in World War 2? Why
Greatest leader in WW2
World War 2 had many great leaders, Winston Churchill, Dwight Eisenhower, Hirohito, and many
more but in complete honesty when thinking of World War 2 another man comes to mind. That
man name is Adolf Hitler. He may have done many horrible things but one can not deny how
great of a leader he was. So although he was not a great person due to the damage he had done
but he was truly a fantastic leader due to how he rose to power, how popular he was in germany,
and what he was able to accomplish.
Adolf hitler first became known in WW1. He served in the 16th Bavarian Reserve Infantry
Regiment in 1914. Then a couple years later in 1920 he was discharged from the army and then
takes responsibility for Publicity and Propaganda. By leading that he was able to change the party

politicians who had signed the treaty of versailles. They ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now since he was villian many of his accomplishments were not good in our eyes. In world war
2 when Adolf Hitler was the leader of germany he did alot of bad things. The most obvious is
Concentration Camps and in other words the extermination of Jews. Hitler ended up killing
millions and millions of jews and really did think of it as an accomplishment. Another thing was
how many wars he was a part of and actually caused. Hitler won many of the wars if not most of
the wars he was a part of. Hitler believed his army was superior but he didn t think he would be
able to rule the world. His plan was to just build a greater German empire but was shocked when
France and Britain declared war on him when invading Poland. After that his success started to
fade. He lost more battles and germany was once again defeated in another World War. Hitler

Hmax Model Paper
Final Project: Research about HMAX model
Seok Hee Lee
Abstract In this paper, I investigated some of the models of computational neuroscience used in
the face recognition field. The model to be discussed is HMAX model. The paper contains what
HMAX model is, how it is derived in terms of biological background, and how it is being used for
facial recognition. Also, I simulated the simplified version of the model in MATLAB. The
simulation of the simplified version verified one cell in the highest hierarchy covers the entire
retinal space of the given image. INTRODUCTION First of all, I looked into the paper written
by Riesenhuber and how HMAX model is derived from a biological concept of a visual cortex. It
begins with the power of cells found in macaque inferotemporal cortex (IT). The cells in IT are
considered as essential cells for recognizing an object and IT is the highest area in the ventral
visual stream. They are tuned to views of complicated objects, for instance a face of human. Their
response remains almost the same when scale or position of an object changes, and it is one of
the characteristic of these cells. This raises a question: how can these cells distinguish similar
faces? In the other words, this paper talks what mechanism these cells use to respond differently
from the similar inputs. This question is related to the model proposed by Hubel and Wiesel. In
this model, simple cells with neighboring receptive fields feed into higher hierarchy cell and this

Implementing Android Based Application For Attendance...
ABSTRACT Education system nowadays has become advanced in India. There is a lot of
development of the technology in India. Some of the modern trends examples in educational
system are smart class, conferencing, etc. Due to this type of applications, institute may fulfil
vision and accomplish their goals. The idea of our project is to implement android based
application for Attendance Management System for colleges, schools, institutes. The project
will be an application like online attendance record and parent intimation in android. It would
help student to check their attendance report online through android phone and would also help
faculties to take attendance in smartphone rather than registers and also store the records in the
database. When student attendance gets low below the specified attendance a threshold will be

The United States And The European Union
Europe was constantly in civil conflict with each other prior to the aftermath of World War II.
However, at the end of World War II, it became evident that the United States would dominate
global politics. In fact, much of the foreign policy implemented throughout the world were simply
just the goals of the United Statesand the United States did become the major geopolitical hegemon
directing international policies which other countries would follow. In simpler terms, the United
States frequently exercised power throughout the 20th century. However, with the emergence of the
European Unionand it s recent economic rise rivaling that of the United States, some scholars begin
to question whether the United States will be able to maintain its role in the international arena and
what the role of the European Union will be. Thus, the question must be asked, Will the European
Union run the 21st century? Viewing this through an economic lens, the European Union will run
the 21st century because of other regions adopting its economic model, the sheer size of the EU
economy, and its overall economic influence and power. First, it is important to examine the
readings regarding the European Union s foreign policy. Here are some general explanations on the
arguments from the following readings about the EU and its role in the 21st century. Kagan argues
that the European Union will not run the 21st century. His reasoning is that although the EU is an
economic power, it lacks

*Walks to the front and looks around, then walking from the side of the room towards the center*
Before I begin my presentation, I d like to see by a show of hands; how many of you think of pills,
hospital gowns, cute nurses, and scary needles when you hear the words medical field ?
*wait for a show of hands* (say something along the lines of okay, so were about half in half )
What if I told you that there are so many other aspects of medicine than what your use to seeing?
My presentation will be on one of the most advancing fields in the world today, engineering, that s
kind of vague so I ll narrow it down a bit. Specifically Bio mechanical engineering, or for short Bio
mech.
What is Bio mech? It is the combination of both biological theories and mechanical engineering
principles, which are combined in order to better understand how they can be used to improve the
quality of life.
I plan to show you today how bio mech as not only impacted my life, but has (or can) impact your
lives.

To start off,
My friend Fred, On July 10th, 2017, lost his arm while in the Caloosahatchee River. A few of his
friends and him decided to go swimming there when a large alligator approached them. He knew
that his friends weren t going to be able to get away if it latched onto them, putting himself
between the gator and his friends he got bit (but luckily they were all still alive).
Soon after, Fred s family and community raised over $37,000 in order to buy him a bionic arm.
Well there is a new innovation in bionic technology, the i limb, this bionic hand which has made
significant advancements in order to make bionic limbs even more realistic. According to Thomas
K. Grose, who has written Journals such as; STILL TOO FEW , Smart Electronics: SECURITY
RISK , and is also the manager at American Society for Engineering Education.
The hand utilizes five individually powered articulating fingers, each with three articulating joins,
moved by five motors, so that it can look and act just like real hands. Allowing the user to grasp
objects that they wouldn t have been able to do other wise.
The hand is controlled through myoelectric sensors, myo is Latin for muscle). So they are

case when Freak wasn t able to walk as good because of Morquio Syndrome, a syndrome that
doesn t let you grow as much as a normal kid. Throughout the novel, two major themes prevailed.
First, that friendshipis essential in a happy life. Second, teamwork is essential in a good friendship.

Consuming Energy Drinks
Another issue with consuming energy drinks is that their ingredient make up is not typically
provided to the consumer in the form of a nutrition label (Marczinski et al. 2014). The issue with
this is that the consumer really has no idea what he or she is consuming. This can be potentially
dangerous in its self because this common energy blend that is present in most energy drinks can
hold many types of psychoactive compounds such as caffeineand guarana which primarily affect
the brain and mind (Marczinski et al. 2014). However, there are many common ingredients that
energy drinks contain as well as naturally include hidden sources of caffeine (Higgins et al. 2010).

the nutrition label of the can (Red Bull, No Fear, Rip It, and SK Energy), but many provide the
consumer with the broad term energy blend, which gives the consumer little to no useful
information except for a broad amount of the combined ingredients within that energy blend.
Table 2 (below) provides a detailed overview of the ingredient make up. There are many brands
of energy drinks available in the world today that hold a vast array of caffeine within. These
energy drinks come in a variety of many sizes as well. Energy drinks are hypothesized to hold a
higher content of caffeine than any other caffeinated drink tested and will be the unhealthiest
option for an energy source. The results of the experiment will be ranked in order based on the
caffeine content for each drink. Through this experiment, the outcomes of consuming energy
drinks such as their health effects and risks associated with consumption will be evaluated. The
worst type of energy drink in the world is predicted to be the more recent energy shot. Energy
shots are believed to hold more health effects and risks because it is such a small dosage that is
being consumed in such a short time frame. Energy shots are also believed to hold a much
higher caffeine level than any other caffeinated drink. A 2 ounce energy shot can easily exceed
the FDA approved level of caffeine intake per day and can also hold up to the same amount of
caffeine as a 16 ounce energy drink if not

Airport Environmental Impact And Legislation
Airport Environmental Impact and Legislation
Overview
Airports impact their local communities in a wide variety of ways. As an employer, large,
international airports can help local economies thrive financially with employment opportunities for
area residents. Even smaller municipal airports give back to the local community in the form of tax
revenue from fuel sales, airplane property taxes, and in the case of land lease arrangements, hangar
property taxes. Further, airports can (and typically do) impact the environment around them.
Airport operators are mandated by federal and state guidelines on areas such as erosion mitigation,
pollution prevention, and to fuel spill prevention, and are bound even further to protect the local
ecology and reduce the impact on wildlife, flora, and endangered species (Horonjeff, 2010).
Airports must be prepared to respond to any potential environmental disaster. This is accomplished
through action plans developed at the state and local levels, such as a Stormwater Pollution
Prevention and Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasures Plans.
Environmental Impact
There are significant rules and regulations placed on airports that deal with the environment. One
widely referred to document is Federal Aviation Administration Order 5050.4B, National
Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Implementing Instructions for Airport Projects (DOT, 2006).
Procedures contained within this instruction are mandatory, and airport operators are legally

Dakota Johnson of Fifty Shades Darker is believed to be angry with her stepfather Antonio

According to the reports, Dakota was much annoyed with Antonio from the very beginning, since
he dumped her mom Melanie in the year 2014 for dating someone else. It has also been disclosed
that she is furious at Banderas for choosing someone who is so much younger than Griffith. The
22 years younger woman Nicole Kempel who is a Dutch investment banker is reported to be the
current partner of the 58 year old Spanish born Desperado actor Antonio Banderas. According to
reports, Dakota thinks of Banderas as a selfish man who is trying to recapture his youth. Johnson
further states that, it is Antonio s fault for which, her mom Melanie is slowly immersing deeper

The Black Panther Party In The 1950 s
The time of the 1950s through 60s has globally been an era of civil rights and an era of an
organization that had gripped the nation. The beginning of the Black Panther Party was a
revolutionary organization for the black community to stand up for their rights and needs as a
bond between blacks. Police would beat down on african americans during this time of late 1950s
through the 60s. The organization had the goal of exposing the police force s abuse of authority
through any means necessary. The parent ideology of the Black Panther Partycomes from the
beliefs of Malcolm X where he encouraged to complete freedom, justice and equality by any
means necessary. His promotion for equality emphasized the aspect of self defense out of the
negative connotation of the use of violence. In Malcolm s words, It doesn t mean that I advocate
violence, but at the same time, I am not against using violence in self defense. I don t call it
violence when it s self defense, I call it intelligence. The Black Panther Party outlook about self
defense was incorporated through their legal means of observing the police to protect their

The Financial Crisis Of 2008

The problem is deregulation. The definition of deregulation is the elimination of government

This Be the Verse
This Be The Verse is a lyric poem in three verses of four iambic tetrameter on an alternating rhyme
scheme, by the English poet Philip Larkin (1922 1985). It was written around April 1971, first
published in the August 1971 issue of New Humanist, and appeared in the 1974 collection High
Windows. The title also ironically recalls the recurring phrase in the Old Testament threatening the
sins of the father against his sons: for I the Lord, thy God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of
the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me [Exodus
20:5]. Larkin parodies the divine threat by rewriting the deliberate retribution of an angry vengeful
God as the tragic shortcomings of your mum and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yet Larkin incorporates it almost immediately into his poem. I can think of four possible reasons
why. Firstly, words such as *censored* quickly and easily grab the audiences attention. This is
similar to yelling sex in a crowded marketplace, everyone wants to know what is being discussed.
Also, words like *censored* prepare the audience for a humorous bit of poetry, and this perks
the audience s attention, and lets them know off the bat that this will not be another long and
boring verse. Secondly, words such as *censored* produce an atmosphere for adults, or mature
people. One term that is used quite extensively lately is adult language. This term branches off
of the common idea that children should and would not use such words until they are older and
have a more concrete knowledge of what they are really saying. Thus, by using a word such as
*censored*, Larkin creates a poem that will most likely not be read to children. Also, such a poem
would not be read at certain social gatherings (i.e. church meetings) where such words are
considered unacceptable, further narrowing the audience for this poem. That brings me to my third
point: that the people who read such a poem know, whether consciously or not, that they are in a
distinct group, and that this poem was written for them. This allows Larkin to establish a closeness
with his readers, now that they know that he is writing for them. This also implies to the reader that
Larkin is one of them, that he

Water Quality And Contamination Of Drinking Water
Water Quality and Contamination
Introduction
Body Paragraph #1 Background: Humans use about 75 gallons of water a day for activities,
such as cooking, cleaning, bathing, and laundry. Not only do we use water for our own well
being but we also use water to keep animals that we eat healthy and maintain vehicles that we
drive on an everyday basis. Only three percent of the water on earth is suitable for drinking,
where two percent of water is found only in glaciers and ice and one percent of the world s water
is accessible and drinkable. The majority of the human body is compromised of water. An adequate
supply of safe drinking water is one of the major prerequisites for a healthy life...(Fawell and
Nieuwenhuijsen 2003) The quality of drinking water and possible associated health risks vary
throughout the world with some regions showing, for example, high levels of arsenic, fluoride or
contamination of drinking water by pathogens, whereas elsewhere these are very low and no
problem.
Body Paragraph # 2 Objective: The purpose of this experiment is to compare the effect of plant
growth and biodiversity. I want to know the effect that water has on growth when it is
contaminated, purified, or at its original state. With water being the major prerequisites to a
healthy life I want to know what would happen to me or other species if I were to drink
contaminated water or continue to drink the bottled purified water instead of drinking tap water.

Growing up is a journey filled with hardships, some of which will break you down and some that
will make you stronger. In Bryce Courtenay s The Power of One , a small English boy dubbed
Peekay grows up in a series of harsh environments and difficult situations that force him to adapt.
Peekay spends the majority of his earlier years in a Boer boarding school, which causes him to
be singled out, due to the tensions between the Boers and the English. He is humiliated and
physically hurt on a daily basis, most of which occurs at the hands of an older boy, nicknamed the
Judge . As he grows older and progresses through life, Peekay meets different people, such as a pet
chicken he names Granpa Chook , a boxer and train conductor named Hoppie,... Show more content

Doc was constantly telling Peekay to think with himself, and analyze the world around him, like
when he told the boy, Your brain Peekay, has two functions; it is a place for original thought, but

being independent, and Doc drums both characteristics into Peekay. The quote encompasses a
good majority of what Doc taught Peekay, to analyze, and think outside the box. He taught
Peekay to challenge the norm, for the sake of challenging the norm. Doc was also a fatherly
figure that encouraged Peekay to grow and stop holding back: To be smart is not a sin. To be
smart and not use it, that is a sin, Peekay. (162). In the Beginning of the book, Peekay talked about
his camouflage, something that the used to protect himself against the Judge. His decision to be
painfully average conflicts with his dream to be the next welterweight champion of the world, and
that is something that holds him back from achieving the power of one. He holds himself back in
school, something that Doc does not approve of. After this quote, Peekay starts to succeed, and
starts to stand out in a good

Questions On Health Care System
WEAKNESS UKHC is following good strategic measures like focusing on complex patients,
using EMR, and large physicians and patient network. However, the complexity of payment
system is considered as major weakness that offers immense pressure on UKHC due to changing
health care reforms (Karpf, Lofgren, Bricker, et al, 2009). Major concerns for UKHC in present
situation are,
Changing in reimbursement structures from volume based payments to quality and outcome based
payment structures.
Even though growing in, patient centered and quality care rate there is public concern about the
quality, access and safety of care provided.
Growing awareness about medicine and independence of patients are the aspects that are
challenging the medical procedures.
Growing healthcare costs Even though the patient sharing is good from bluegrass funding, it is
yet to provide leverage for patients form rural and low economy class. The rate of quality has
declined form 12th rank to 19th rank in the recent quality analysis which UKHC need to realize.
Extension of the services is needed for the inpatients and emergency is necessary due to increasing
load of patients (Fact book, 2015). Implementation of extension process is necessary to increase the
number of beds and associated staff.
OPPORTUNITIES
UKHC has more scope for expansion of its network and associated health care programs. Based on
the aging population of Kentucky there is a need to initiate a long term care unit in

  • 2. An Effective Implementation Strategy And The Transition... Due to the entrenched culture and long standing history of execution through efficiency, the transition towards teaming will be slow (Exhibit 7). A successful implementation strategy will be one that realizes that the Lynn plant cannot become like Bromont or Durham overnight, although it may quickly see similar growth rates that translate into material change over several years (Exhibit 8). An effective implementation strategy will allot enough time for workers to familiarize themselves with the new model, appreciate it, and ultimately endorse it. Recommendation 1: Mandate The first step is to gather with members of the union and representatives from the workforce to collaboratively build a mandate for the Lynn plant. A survey will be... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Initially, the novelty of a mandate would ensure its circulation and compliance; however after a few months, it could easily be forgotten. Print outs may address short term risk mitigation, however in the long term, the mandate should be updated once every three years to reflect the dynamicity of the issues the plant might be facing. The Management Team can emphasize a push toward execution through learning and would also force the plant out of complacency through redefinition of its overall goals. Recommendation 2: Formation of Committees Creating five different committees can introduce a reciprocal interdependence between management and frontline workers (Exhibit 10). Aiming to eliminate the issues caused by misaligned goals, workforce complacency, and poor leadership, the committees will serve as a channel for communication, instrument for instilling accountability, and a medium for mentorship. The structure of each committee will allow for decision making input from both front line workers and management. Committees will meet on a biweekly basis to discuss issues arising in the plant s daily operations. Since management currently has a poor record for handling employee grievances, the intent of these committees will be to build a psychologically safe, trusting, and collaborative environment where issues are presented and addressed in a timely manner. Committees will also be required to reach ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Language And Culture In Ken Wiwa s Get Beyond Babel Ken Wiwa presents several ideas pertaining to language and culture within his essay, Get Beyond Babel. Wiwa explains that every language has a chance of dying out over time. For any language to survive through years of societal changes, it must be adapted so it can be used to embrace other cultures, new technology and new perspectives. Wiwa presents the concept that language is the same as culture. I do not agree with this concept because I believe that culture is carried by the people, not by the language. Wiwa uses the idea that languages never die if they are always taking concepts from other languages. My parents mother tongue is a prime example of countering the statement. My parents were both born in Sri Lanka and spoke Tamil as they grew up, which is a language that has been around for over 2000 years. It is a language that was primarily used in South Asia, but has grown. The language of Tamil did not always have to adopt terms from other languages to expand. Over 100 million people today continue to speak the language. As a language, Anglo Saxon, or Old English, was very different from modern English, similarly to Tamil. However, Tamil is a language that has been able to thrive on its own. Tamil counters Wiwa s idea that languages absorb other dialects to survive. In fact, in South Asia, it is the other way around and dialects in Sri Lanka must adopt the Tamil languageto stay relevant. The language of Tamil did not become extinct or endangered because of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Education Of High School Students Essay Introduction In today s education of high school students, are we keeping up with the 21st century, or, are we still doing the same old thing? The British started the idea of traditional schools hundreds of years ago. After the American Revolution around the late 1700 s, and the early 1800 s, government supported schools started. These schools educated students of all ages in one room with one teacher. These schools were not free. In the late 1800 s, high schools were considered to be preparatory academies for students who were going to attend college. In the early 1900 s, the same schools were transformed into core elements now preparing students for work after high school. By the middle 1900 s, states required students to attend school from the ages of 8 14 and to complete elementary school. They also switched their emphasis back to prepare students for the growing state and private universities. In 2001, the United States entered its current era of education accountability/reform with the institution of the No Child Left Behind law. The Every Child Succeeds Act has replaced No Child Left Behind. The 21st century calls for a higher order of skills, abilities, and learning dispositions that society and workplaces are expecting and demanding. Employers want deeper learning, analytic reasoning, complex problem solving, teamwork, and experience in career fields. I think you can agree that our technology is fantastic. Analysis Of Frank Zappa, John Cage, And Pamela Z Throughout this course, the composers we studied all had different approached to creating music, and that is why many of them are well known today. The three most notable composers who combine unusual elements in their music were Frank Zappa, John Cage, and Pamela Z. Frank Zappa was an American artist who had no desire to fit into a single style of music, and he had no interest in creating music for cultural conventions. He created music in the manners he saw fit. His music has influence from rock, pop, modern classical, and jazz music, but his pieces are far from fitting into one of those labels. First, the concept of namespaces will be described along with an overview of the default name spaces available in the Linux operating system. The Linux Network Name Space is a key enabler for some high profile virtualization technologies including OpenStack and Docker. Linux Name Spaces Linux consists of the following six namespaces: Network Network Namespace PID Process Namespace Mount Filesystem Namespace User User Namespace IPC Interprocess Communication Namespace UTS Host and NIS Namespace Linux namespaces can be traced back to early UNIX technologies called chroot, process jails controlled where access is controlled with cgroups. The concept of a namespace is to isolate processes from other processes on the system. This concept evolved into namespaces that are created with clone() system call and manipulated with the setns() and unshare() system calls. The clone() system call is used when creating child namespace from a parent or root namespace. As the name would suggest this creates a clone of an existing stack. The setns() system call is used to join a namespace. The unshare() system call is used for moving processes into a namespace, as the name suggests the process ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Furthermore, following the call for freedom, the colonists rose in defiance to Great Britain in the War of Independence. In the United States, the image of liberty, of self independence is reflected by many artworks and literary works. Reading the poem, one shall firstly say that the tones of both works are obviously the same, for Sympathy and Caged Bird show an alternative order of the tone of melancholy and the tone of delight. For example, in Sympathy, the first stanza from line 1 to 7 gives the readers a feeling of joy because of the serene scene sun is bright, springing grass, river flow, yet the next seven lines conveys the picture of an extreme situation wherein blood is red on the cruel bars, giving the reader a sense of desperation. In the same way, Angelou also repeated the same pattern in her poem, that the readers can find tranquility in orange sun rays where free bird leaps from line 1 6 of the first stanza, but sadness in his narrow cage in the second stanza. Nevertheless, the nuance in both works tones can be inferred in the last stanzas of Sympathy and Caged Bird. Whereas Sympathy is solemn, but hopeful, Caged Bird seems to reflect a relinquishment to the circumstance. Specifically, Dunbar expressed his hope that the bird would be emancipated of his chain and the Black people would live in harmony with the White people to God on Heaven; thus, a spirit of undefeated desire for freedom and a religious voice can be found in Sympathy. Men, as the stronger sex, were thought to be intelligent, courageous, and determined. Women, on the other hand, were more governed by their emotions, and their virtues were expected to be chastity, modesty, compassion, and piety. Men were thought to be more aggressive; women more passive. Women education was primarily at home by mothers or fathers. The education comprised of the arts of sewing, water color, and polite conversation for the upper class and domestic work for lower classes. • 17. Wireless Sensor Networks Wireless sensor networks typically consist of a large number of sensor nodes with limited onboard battery resources which are difficult to recharge or replace. Thus the reduction of energy consumption for end to end data rate and maximization of network lifetime have become chief research concern. In recent years, many techniques have been proposed for improving the energy efficiency in wireless sensornetworks. Among these techniques, V MIMO technique has been considered as one of the effective ways to save energy. In WSN a node has two communication related energy consuming roles, one role is to serve as a packet generating source node (SN), and the other role is to relay packets for the other nodes, which are both energy consuming operations. This is why the energy minimization is required to extend the lifetime of the WSN. WSN nodes are commonly designed to communicate using single input single output (SISO) technology using a single transceiver antenna. Multiple input multiple output (MIMO) with space time block codes is a communication method that uses multiple antenna to enable lower power long distance wireless communication over multipath fading channel. It may impossible to apply MIMO technology to small WSN devices since small sensor nodes may only be able to have a single antenna. Therefore, through collaboration of several single antenna equipped devices, a cooperative MIMO technique called virtual MIMO (V MIMO) has been proposed in [4]. The single hop energy ... The model to be discussed is HMAX model. The paper contains what HMAX model is, how it is derived in terms of biological background, and how it is being used for facial recognition. Also, I simulated the simplified version of the model in MATLAB. The simulation of the simplified version verified one cell in the highest hierarchy covers the entire retinal space of the given image. INTRODUCTION First of all, I looked into the paper written by Riesenhuber and how HMAX model is derived from a biological concept of a visual cortex. It begins with the power of cells found in macaque inferotemporal cortex (IT). The cells in IT are considered as essential cells for recognizing an object and IT is the highest area in the ventral visual stream. They are tuned to views of complicated objects, for instance a face of human. Their response remains almost the same when scale or position of an object changes, and it is one of the characteristic of these cells. This raises a question: how can these cells distinguish similar faces? In the other words, this paper talks what mechanism these cells use to respond differently from the similar inputs. This question is related to the model proposed by Hubel and Wiesel. In this model, simple cells with neighboring receptive fields feed into higher hierarchy cell and this ... In fact, much of the foreign policy implemented throughout the world were simply just the goals of the United Statesand the United States did become the major geopolitical hegemon directing international policies which other countries would follow. In simpler terms, the United States frequently exercised power throughout the 20th century. However, with the emergence of the European Unionand it s recent economic rise rivaling that of the United States, some scholars begin to question whether the United States will be able to maintain its role in the international arena and what the role of the European Union will be. Thus, the question must be asked, Will the European Union run the 21st century? Viewing this through an economic lens, the European Union will run the 21st century because of other regions adopting its economic model, the sheer size of the EU economy, and its overall economic influence and power. First, it is important to examine the readings regarding the European Union s foreign policy. Here are some general explanations on the arguments from the following readings about the EU and its role in the 21st century. Kagan argues that the European Union will not run the 21st century. His reasoning is that although the EU is an economic power, it lacks ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

My presentation will be on one of the most advancing fields in the world today, engineering, that s kind of vague so I ll narrow it down a bit. Specifically Bio mechanical engineering, or for short Bio mech. What is Bio mech? It is the combination of both biological theories and mechanical engineering principles, which are combined in order to better understand how they can be used to improve the quality of life. I plan to show you today how bio mech as not only impacted my life, but has (or can) impact your lives. (2) To start off, My friend Fred, On July 10th, 2017, lost his arm while in the Caloosahatchee River. A few of his friends and him decided to go swimming there when a large alligator approached them. He knew that his friends weren t going to be able to get away if it latched onto them, putting himself between the gator and his friends he got bit (but luckily they were all still alive). Soon after, Fred s family and community raised over $37,000 in order to buy him a bionic arm. Well there is a new innovation in bionic technology, the i limb, this bionic hand which has made significant advancements in order to make bionic limbs even more realistic. According to Thomas K. Grose, who has written Journals such as; STILL TOO FEW , Smart Electronics: SECURITY RISK , and is also the manager at American Society for Engineering Education. The hand utilizes five individually powered articulating fingers, each with three articulating joins, moved by five motors, so that it can look and act just like real hands. This can be potentially dangerous in its self because this common energy blend that is present in most energy drinks can hold many types of psychoactive compounds such as caffeineand guarana which primarily affect the brain and mind (Marczinski et al. 2014). As an employer, large, international airports can help local economies thrive financially with employment opportunities for area residents. Even smaller municipal airports give back to the local community in the form of tax revenue from fuel sales, airplane property taxes, and in the case of land lease arrangements, hangar property taxes. Further, airports can (and typically do) impact the environment around them. Airport operators are mandated by federal and state guidelines on areas such as erosion mitigation, pollution prevention, and to fuel spill prevention, and are bound even further to protect the local ecology and reduce the impact on wildlife, flora, and endangered species (Horonjeff, 2010). Airports must be prepared to respond to any potential environmental disaster. This is accomplished through action plans developed at the state and local levels, such as a Stormwater Pollution Prevention and Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasures Plans. • 38. This Be the Verse This Be The Verse is a lyric poem in three verses of four iambic tetrameter on an alternating rhyme scheme, by the English poet Philip Larkin (1922 1985). It was written around April 1971, first published in the August 1971 issue of New Humanist, and appeared in the 1974 collection High Windows. The title also ironically recalls the recurring phrase in the Old Testament threatening the sins of the father against his sons: for I the Lord, thy God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me [Exodus 20:5]. Larkin parodies the divine threat by rewriting the deliberate retribution of an angry vengeful God as the tragic shortcomings of your mum and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Yet Larkin incorporates it almost immediately into his poem. I can think of four possible reasons why. Firstly, words such as *censored* quickly and easily grab the audiences attention. This is similar to yelling sex in a crowded marketplace, everyone wants to know what is being discussed. Also, words like *censored* prepare the audience for a humorous bit of poetry, and this perks the audience s attention, and lets them know off the bat that this will not be another long and boring verse. Secondly, words such as *censored* produce an atmosphere for adults, or mature people. One term that is used quite extensively lately is adult language. This term branches off of the common idea that children should and would not use such words until they are older and have a more concrete knowledge of what they are really saying. Thus, by using a word such as *censored*, Larkin creates a poem that will most likely not be read to children. Also, such a poem would not be read at certain social gatherings (i.e. church meetings) where such words are considered unacceptable, further narrowing the audience for this poem. That brings me to my third point: that the people who read such a poem know, whether consciously or not, that they are in a distinct group, and that this poem was written for them. This allows Larkin to establish a closeness with his readers, now that they know that he is writing for them. This also implies to the reader that Larkin is one of them, that he ...
