Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 The Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 plan
is to reduce the number of undocumented immigrants entering the United States for permanent
settlement (Fix, and Passel, 2013). The Act required additional resources to join the Border Patrol
Enforcement to control the movement of immigrants to the United States. Penalties were imposed to
employer s providing employment opportunities to the undocumented employees to discourage illegal
immigration. The Act required businesses, such as merchandise companies, hotels, workshops, and
general stores hiring undocumented individuals and legalizing the undocumented population settling
in the United States. Businesses who are noncompliant with this law result in penalties, such as civil
fines, criminal penalties, and prevention from government contracts. Court orders require payments
from back pay to the individual s involved in the discrimination. Courts require employers to hire
individuals involved in discrimination cases (Fix, Passel, 2013).
The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 The American with Disabilities Act of 1990 is meant for
businesses that discriminate against qualified applicants from employment opportunity because of a
disability (United States Department of Labor, 2013). Disabilities include walking, talking, hearing,
seeing, and learning. The object of the law is to protect persons with disabilities by providing equal

The McLennan County Reintegration Program is a newer agency within McLennan County that
originated as the Reintegration Round Table. As the Reintegration Roundtable there were several
different stakeholders with vested interests, that came together for meetings to discuss what needed to
be done to reduce the recidivism rate in McLennan County. These meetings took place over a course
of a few years. Ultimately, the McLennan County Reintegration Program officially fell under the
scope of the Heart of Texas region MHMR center in June of 2016 and began receiving clients in

Soccer Team-Personal Narrative
Well, this is it. Today is the day where I finally try out for my school s soccer team. This morning i
woke up startled by the enormously loud sound of an alarm on my friend s phone. His name was
Bailey Ivester. I ve known him since 6th grade year. Boy is he annoying sometimes. Most of the time
he acts like he is the top dog or the best of the best . He stayed over at my house the day before, we
were both supposed to try out for the soccer team. To be honest. He really wasn t that good at it. Like i
said, he thought he was the best of the best . After we woke up Bailey and i ate breakfast that my
mother had prepared. It was so delicious and very specific. She had made my favorite chocolate chip
pancakes, applewood smoked bacon, cheesy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We were going against Lexington high school. While we walked onto the field examined the other
team. I had a lot of confidence in myself and tried to hype up my team and gave my team an inspiring
speech when we all came together to form a circle. Next we all walked onto the field into our
positions, i was starting. I was the left forward position. Forwards in soccer are the most difficult
position on the field because that was the position where your suppose to score most of the points and
control the offense. I was always a forward because coach said i had a lot of speed, agility, and good
footwork. At this time the game had started, we had the ball first i passed it to the other forward on our
team. His name was Jimmy, he was the most aggressive forward on our team. He was a great forward.
At this time it was near the end of the game. The score was 3 6 we were losing terribly. Everybody on
our team was tired and bummed out and lost hope. We were all tired of losing all the time. I saw the
emptiness in everyone s eyes. I felt sad as well. While i was running on the field i heard our
goalkeeper named Matias yell out GRAYSON !!. I turned around fast and forgot everything else. I
saw Matias lob the ball down the other side of the field to where i was running. My eyes were all on
that ball, i saw it flying in the air then falling towards me while i ran as fast as i could to catch up to it.
A voice in my head just kept saying, just go for it! . So i waited at the right moment to where the ball
was perfectly positioned to where i was able to header the ball into the goal. Finally it was that time, i
lunged into the air as high as i could, as soon as i tried to header the ball into the goal in mid air. One
of the players on the opponent s team came out of nowhere!! He was so fast, i don t know where he
came from. While i was still in the air he had jumped towards me to get the ball as well. At this time

William Shakespeare s The Prince And Julius Caesar
Texts are a reflection of its contextual values; it is evident that aspects of human nature remain
constant irrespective of context. Texts ruminative of this include Tim Parks translation of Niccolo
Machiavelli s The Prince (1532) and William Shakespeare s historical tragedy Julius Caesar (1599).
The values and attitudes of these two texts anticipated responders and influenced purpose, form and
content such as the darker aspects of humanism, the changeless nature of man, and the fickle nature of
people.
Machiavelli s text The Prince mirrors the darker aspects of humanism man is essentially corrupt, self
serving and deceptive . His intended responders were a select of people in power and of educated elite,
in particular Lorenzo de ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Machiavelli suggests that the most supreme approach to change the degenerate individual into a
decent individual is through the good law, although even the best law is pointless. Machiavelli
characterizes man as being self serving and not willing to act in the best interest of the state, and when
the prince is in danger they turn against him . Machiavelli strengthens the prince s need to be feared
by stating, Men worry less about doing an injury to one who makes himself loved than to one who
makes himself feared . To acquire honour, Machiavelli suggests that a prince must be readily willing
to deceive the citizens. These treacherous measures would bring the prince honour and trust among the
citizen, suggesting that man s nature is changeless, which is exemplified in Shakespeare s Julius
Caesar through the character of Mark Antony.
Mark Antony in Julius Caesar abandoned Caesar as soon as he is killed and to seek his own glory.
Being a true friend of Caesar, Mark Antony promises Caesar s soul that he would seek revenge against
the conspirators for his brutal murder, And Caesar s spirit, ranging for revenge, with Ate by his side
come hot from hell...That this foul deed shall smell above the earth with carrion men, groaning for
burial. . Shakespeare utilizes dramatic irony when Brutus takes Antony s promise of not saying

The Bishop Orders His Tomb And My Last Duchess
In his poems, The Bishop Orders His Tomb , Soliloquy of the Spanish Cloister , and My Last Duchess
, Browning explores a few sins that link to Victorian ideas yet continue to be compelling commentary
on some of the modernity s biggest contradictions. These characters process the world according to
their own selfish ideologies, filtering into dramatic monologues that challenge and comment on the
time s social norms and growing institutions. The narrator of Soliloquy of the Spanish Cloister is
resentful and irrationally petty contrary to the monolithic idea of a monk. In My Last Duchess charm
thinly veils the tyrannical nature of a respected Duke. Lastly, the bishop of The Bishop Orders His
Tomb is sour with greed, jealousy, vanity, and resentment. These characters act out of their socially
prescribed nature and this, I think, is ultimately a critique of Victorian ideals of order, structure, poise,
domesticity and perfection. These ideas of people and institutions rarely reflect the reality.
In Soliloquy of the Spanish Cloister , a Spanish monk monologues about his irrational hatred for a
Brother Lawrence. He mocks with disdain, creates ideas of Brother Lawrence that paint him in an
undesirable light, dreams of sabotaging the monk s garden of melons, and even concocts a plan that
will presumably send Brother Lawrence to hell. Such bitterness is punctuated by the idea that this
monk would be willing to sell his soul simply for the pleasure of enacting Brother

Different Types Of Cell Research
HSC Research Paper
From brain cells to skin cells, our body is made up of 200 different types of specialized cells. One of
the most versatile types of cell is a stem cell. Stem cells are cells that have not been specialized yet; in
other words, they do not have a specific job. For example, nerve cells work to send signals throughout
your body, while stem cells do not have any specific functions. But they do possess the ability to
develop into all of the other different types of specialized cells in our body. With regenerative abilities,
stem cells are capable of renewing themselves through cell division and when the stem cell divides to
create another cell, the new cell has the potential to either stay a stem cell or differentiate into a ...

For over 40 years, they have been used to successfully treat the cancers of blood, including lymphoma
and leukemia. HSCs have showed a widespread of potential clinical uses and today, researchers
continue to advance their knowledge of stem cells and dig deeper with hopes of widening the clinical
uses of HSCs.
The first evidence of HSCs came from victims of the nuclear bombing in 1945. Research indicated
that the victims, who died over a prolonged period, had compromised hematopoietic systems; in other
words, their bodies were unable to regenerate either white blood cells to protect against infections or
platelets to clot their blood. To further their understanding, an experiment was conducted on mice, in
which they were exposed to radiation, identical to the citizens of Nagasaki and Hiroshima. The mice,
which were given the minimal lethal dose, died of hematopoietic failure during the two weeks
following after the radiation exposure, similar to the citizens. Scientists later discovered that they
could rescue the mice from hematopoietic failure by injecting cells from blood forming organs of
healthy mice. This discovery uncovered the importance of the hematopoietic system and its functions,
such as the bone marrow s role in the regeneration of blood and immune cells.
Early research of HSCs primarily focused on characterizing HSCs from other cells. Identifying and
differentiating HSCs from other cells proved to be easier said than done,

Symbols In Macbeth Essay
The final act of Shakespeare s Macbeth is the culmination of the entire play, and Shakespeare uses
heavy symbolism to portray the final ideas of this tragedy. In the first scene, it is revealed that Lady
Macbeth has been sleepwalking, an expression of her anxiety. However, the Doctor asks How came
she by that light (i. 23) and why she rubs // her hands (i. 28 29). Throughout the play, Lady Macbeth
has been wrought with guilt because of Duncan s death. Now, she has an ever burning candle always
at her side. This candle represents her state of mind, with the lit wick her guilt that constantly eats
away at her. Additionally, she rubs her hands because, in her state of dream, she is washing them to
wash the blood off. These images were used ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

and symbolic of the unraveling of Macbeth. Additionally, while Macbeth unravels, he asks his servant
Seyton, an allusion in his own rite, to put on and take off his armor multiple times, a verbal indication
of this disorder. However, it goes deeper than just the words themselves, but the division of the scenes
is symbolic of this unraveling. While Shakespeare did not write his plays into scenes, the constant
change of character and location within Act V in stark contrast to many longer scenes from the rest of
the play make apparent the undoing of Macbeth. Finally, the death of Macbeth is the ultimate symbol
within the end. Up until this point, every character had died in the night (except for Young Siward)
and an unnatural darkness had consumed most of the play. At the time of the final battle, the sun, a
symbol of good and victory, shines high over Macbeth s defeat. This moment culminates the conflicts
of evil and good, night and day, Macbeth and Scotland, and restores the order to the chain of being.
Though this dynamic symbolism, Macbeth brings an end to Macbeth and his regime, restoring peace

behavior, and then relearn the same behavior after an extinction period. After ensuring that the rat was
conditioned on a continuous reinforcement schedule (CRF), the next goal in the experiment was to

behavior was extinct, the rat was reconditioned to lever press on a conditioned reinforcement

CRITICAL APPRAISAL OF A SYSTEMATIC REVIEW AND NARRATIVE REVIEW RELATED
TO COMPUTERISED PHYSICIAN ORDER ENTRY SYSTEM
The author of this paper is a nurse educator working in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) within the north
west region of England. For the purpose of this paper, the author has chosen a systematic review (SR)
and a narrative review (NR) and aims to critically analyse these reviews using the Critical Appraisal
Skills Programme (CASP) tool. The CASP tool has been developed by the Solutions for Public Health
(SPH) (formerly known as Public Health Resources Unit), which is controlled by the National Health
Service (NHS) (SPH, 2006). The tool is based on the guidelines formed by a group of clinicians at

The author feels that using two different tools would increase the rigour of the appraisal and its
relevance to practice. In the forthcoming sections of this essay, the author will attempt critically
analyse the two papers using the CASP tool for SRs.
Formulation of the research question
Formulation of the research question guides the type of data collection for the study and states what
the study will hypothesise (Polit and Beck, 2010). The CASP tool acknowledges that clearly focused
research question will describe the population studied, the intervention given and the outcomes
considered (SPH, 2006). The research question in the SR is clearly formulated. The population of
patients studied were general and critically ill hospital patients, the intervention was a SR and
outcome to be assessed was about the safety of the CPOE and clinical decision support systems or
CDSS (CDSS is a computerised medication prescription system) based on hierarchy of outcome
measures (kindly refer to table 2 of SR) within ICU settings. Likewise, in the NR, the population of
patients studied were general and critically ill patients, the analysis was done via a NR and the
purpose of the study was to assess the results of CPOE on clinical and surrogate outcomes in
hospitalised patients in both general and critical care settings.
Based on this, the author acknowledges that the SR has adopted a narrow and more specific research
question as

The Pros And Cons Of The World Bank And The IMF
far from being the solution to global economic instability and poverty, these two international
institutions are a major problem. For one thing, their lending practice deters growth because the
money they loan removes incentives for governments to advance economic freedom, and breeds
corruption. For these reasons, the vast majority of recipient countries have been unable to develop
fully after depending on these institutions for over 40 years.2
Later in the same article she says that the World Bank and the IMF
create disincentives in the countries they are trying to help. Sending money to countries with

we Christians obey our orders to expose the unfruitful deeds of darkness, the IMF will be exposed and
eventually defunded and ended. When the light comes on, the cockroaches scurry for dark corners.
They may escape for a little while, but the truth will hunt them out and squash them. Our pietist,
antinomian, mindlessly passive brand of Christianity once again reveals itself as impractical to deal
with challenging issues of life. But biblical Christianity light and truth will act and will rout the IMF.
None of the above excuses the politicians in companies receiving IMF loans. They are not pure
innocents, receiving unwanted money forced upon them by the IMF. The politicians saw the chance to
leech onto IMF money, a good portion of which ends up in their own pockets or in those of their
cronies. Their receipt of IMF loans indicates they did not have the best interests of their own countries
in mind. They fell to the temptation which the IMF offered. Nor does it excuse the ordinary citizens of
the countries receiving the loans! If you want to be self governed, then self govern. You hired, or

Diversity Is The Human Race
DIVERSITY PAPER
Gay. Straight. Black. White. Male. Female. Wealthy. Poor. Modern society has systematically sorted
the human race into collections and communities of descriptive factors. Deeply embedded within a
systematical labeling system, diversity has fell victim to the harmful segregation and prejudice of the
past. Diversity is not about the inferior nor the morally corrupt. Diversity is not the hallow substance
of labels. Diversity is culture, pride, and heritage.
To rural South Dakotans, diversity amongst the human race is rare. In the agricultural state I call
home, variation lies not in the people but rather in the contrasting species of livestock and corn.
Hailing from a town population of 3,025, any kind of knowledge about a social world beyond
Hartford, South Dakota was limited. I set up my childhood moral system on a tainted blend of
inaccurate perceptions and assumptions. A moral system which would ring true until I found myself as
the diversity. I am my own diversity. I am the collection of the variant and the assortment of different.
I am gay.
To answer any impending questions which may be surrounding one s head at the current time, just
lean towards the answer no. While some individuals may be born with the innate sense of who they
are, I was not. Unfortunately, my sense of childhood identity came not from deep self reflection and
soul searching, but rather a combination of my restricted experiences and limited knowledge of the
social world. I was not

The Relationship Between The Mind And Body That I Find...
In this paper, I will examine a particular model of the relationship between the mind and body that I
find especially attractive: Margaret Cavendish s Panpsychism. In my discussion of Cavendish s
Panpsychism, I will contrast it with two other models namely, Descartes s Substance Dualism and
Hobbes s Materialism to accentuate particular nuances of the model. Next, I will provide reasoning for
why I find Cavendish s Panpsychism so attractive. After, I will consider the strongest argument I
believe one could make against my specific support of Cavendish s Panpsychism; an objection known
as the Combination Problem. Finally, I will provide a rebuttal to this objection; one that will render
my argument in favor of Cavendish s Panpsychism even stronger. Margaret Cavendish s Panpsychism
is similar, yet dissimilar, to Panpsychism, as it is generically defined. The generic definition of
Panpsychism is the following: the doctrine that mind is a fundamental feature of the world which
exists throughout the universe (Seager). Because Panpsychism fails to provide both a detailed
explanation of the nature of the mind and an explanation for how the mind and body interact, it can
not be considered a substantive model of the relationship between the mind and body (Skrbina).
However, Cavendish succeeds in rendering Panpsychism a substantive model (from here on the word
model will be an abbreviation for the phrase model of the relationship between the mind and body ).

Multitasking Experiment and Results
Introduction Multitasking is part of everyday life. Daily routines from driving to work or school, to
coming home, involve people handling more than one task at a time. At what point is it too much to
handle before mistakes are being made? When someone answers a call on their cell phone while
driving, that is multitasking, and that has shown to be hazardous. When a student is instant messaging
and writing a paper at the same time, that is hazardous as well, but not in the way one would
immediately think. Heavy media use may be associated with decreased social well being and could
cause harm on young adults psychological functioning. Also, people who often multitask with media
such as the TV, the internet, etc, have shown instances in which there was a diminished ability to
effectively filter non important information cognitively. The usage of media that college students use
today has increased by at least 20% in the last decade (Alzahabi Becker, 2013). According to Stephen
Monsell, everything people do requires a schema or task set to perform that function. Mr. Monsell
stated that we use executive control to pick and perform the proper task set(s) that are necessary to
complete our current goals or activities without being distracted to complete other unnecessary goals
or activities (Monsell, 2003). Executive Control or Executive Function is a mental process that
connects past experiences people have had with present actions they are going through. People use

Poverty And Its Effects On Children s Development
Poverty arises in many families and touches them in many methods. Teachers main concerns in
poverty is in what manner it impacts the child s development. Families who live in poverty face
drawbacks that can delay their children s development in various ways (Duncan, 2014). Not all
teachers identify the impact that a child in poverty has to go thru each day. It is hard trying to
concentrate in classwork when one is thinking about where they will sleep or when they will have
their next meal. This paper demonstrates resources that a teacher can practice when having a child in
poverty in their classroom so they can better comprehend of the student. It also addresses the global
effects of poverty and educational outcomes by containing findings from both developed and
developing countries. Teacher s support and society can benefit a child in poverty and the family.
According to Patrice L. Engle and Maureen M. Black Poverty affects a child s development and
educational outcomes beginning in the earliest years of life, both directly and indirectly through
mediated, moderated, and transactional processes. School readiness, or the child s ability to use and
profit from school, has been acknowledged as playing a unique role in escape from poverty in the
United States and gradually in developing countries. It is a dangerous element, but needs to be
maintained by many other mechanisms of a poverty alleviation strategy, such as enhanced opportunity
structures and empowerment of

As one of the key stable factors , culture within an organization is playing a critical role in the
organization s everyday operations. Although the culture literature has at times focused on the culture
of an organization as shared basic assumptions (Schein, 1985), or as metaphors within organizations

This article gives readers a look back into ancient Egypt through the upper and lower parts of the Nile
River in northeastern Africa, it seems that people in Egypt had religious freedom because the overall
Egyptian religion was based on polytheism. Polytheism is the worshiping of many deities. With well
over 2,000 gods and goddesses, the people of Egypt had plenty of super human beings to worship such
as the farmers along the Nile who worshiped Hapi, the god of the Nile, to bring them floods to fertilize
their soil for crops. Along with their pharaoh who was seen as the most powerful person in the
kingdom because he was considered to be half man, half god; he was the people of Egypt s connection
to the many gods they served.

Brain Scan Essay
The topic of brains scans, drug use and teenagers has been of much interest to many experimenters.
Drug use can be defined as continues use of alcohol, illegal drugs or the misuse of over the counter
drugs or prescription drugs leading to negative consequences. This is done by the use of brain scans,
including MRI scans; also know as magnetic resonance imaging. This type of brain scan allows
scientist to see detailed images of the organs and tissues within your body by a technique that uses a
magnetic field and radio waves. The magnetic field temporarily realigns hydrogen atoms in the body
and is able to show brain activity. The main point of this type of study is to help predict what a
teenagers drug use problem will be, if any, before it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Just with a glance, the popular media article is one page long, briefly describing the participants,
methods, and results with little detail, while the empirical is eleven pages long going into detail about
the participants, methods, and results. The popular media article also uses people friendly language
that could be understood by anyone, whereas the empirical article uses more scientific vocabulary that
would make it harder for just anyone to understand if they had no knowledge in the field of
biopsychology. For example, the popular media article says on page one, This could mean that either
the drugs suppress their brain activity or less brain activity in the reward center leads them to take
drugs. In the empirical article it states, These findings suggest that diminished neural responses to
anticipated rewards in novelty seeking adolescents may increase vulnerability to future problematic
drug use. From reading these two sentences, the empirical article is wordier and contains phrases that
most people would not understand, such as, diminished neural responses. They re also different in that
the empirical article had more findings with statistics then the popular media article. Another
difference was the method of the study during the gathering of the neuroimaging data. For the popular
media article the researchers had the participants play a Monetary Incentive Delay Task during the
MRI scan while the empirical article had the participants to use a modified version of the Monetary
Incentive Delay task (MID), which had them pressing one of two buttons. Both articles are similar in
that they used one hundred and forty four adolescents. As well as the results, both articles came to the
conclusion that a decrease in amount of activity in the reward center will increase the vulnerability in

Hosea Research Paper
Did you know that the book in bible reveals the personality of the prophet? It explains to us that we
should carefully read the bible and think about it. I read a book about Hosea but it was from Gomer s
perspective view and it contains a little bit of fiction. After I read the book about Gomer and Hosea, I
started to be interested in Hosea and that s why I chose Hosea over any other prophets. As I write
about Hosea in this essay, I want to know about his relationship with others, God s plan for him, what
he had done during his life time and other things as well. Hosea was the first minor prophet. It does
not mean that he is less important than other major prophets, but because they have shorter books that
s why it calls Minor Prophets. The book of Hosea shows really well about Hosea s true personality so
that we can define him very emotional, responsible to his duty, loyal, and show unconditional love for
his wife. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

A Character Analysis Of Randle Patrick Mcmurphy
Randle Patrick McMurphy is shown to be a flawed character because of his huge ego, making him a
lecherous gambler high on his own arrogance, and his desire and hunger for power and control. He
thinks he can win any gamble, including a gamble on his life. The stakes are that he bets the men that
he can break Nurse Ratched without letting her get the best of him. Even when he enters the ward,
McMurphy has that kind of swagger kind of walk and he laughs, something that has not been done by
any of the patients on the ward. He is full of brass and swagger and full of assurance and arrogance
with his hanging thumbs in the belt loop of his pants, his heavily scarred skin, his many tattoos, and
his fresh scar on the bridge of his nose (95). After being sent to Disturbed, McMurphy was confronted
with the decision to admit he was wrong and avoid electroshock therapy, to which he responded to the
nurse saying, Those Chinese Commies could have learned a few things from you, lady. Due to this
high arrogance in his confidence, McMurphy received electroshock therapy along with three other
treatments that same very week. This all led up to the major consequence of lobotomy, in which
McMurphy was essentially made a vegetable, to be nothing more than a cautionary tale on Nurse
Ratched s ward.
This powerful and confident character challenges the power of Ratched over the patients in the ward
only to defy her law on the ward. The idea that nothing is gained by McMurphy s rebellion is

Using A Handheld Portable Gas Detector Weighting Up
One of the main challenges in this effort is how to autonomously operate multiple sensors for oxygen
monitoring and to replace the existing technology which is based on a handheld portable gas detector
weighting up to 5lbs and placed in the belt or waistband of the worker. Our innovative design is based
on converting wasted mechanical energy from the movement of the worker to useful amount of energy
by using the piezoelectric transduction mechanism. Depending on the movement of the worker and the
performed tasks, two possible piezoelectric energy harvesting systems can be designed. The first one
will be composed of a flexible piezoelectric layer attached on the top of an aluminum sheet and
directly attached to the skin of the worker as a band, as shown in Fig. 2(a). As for the second design of
the energy harvester shown in Fig. 2(b), it will be based on the available excitation motion of the
worker. This harvester will be efficient when the resonance phenomenon takes place. This harvester
will be integrated in the clothes of the worker.
As for the second design, low frequency excitations are present due to the worker s motion including
walking and contraction and expansion of his muscles. These low excitation motion can provide
viable amounts of wasted mechanical energy that can be converted to power many critical devices
including sensors for oxygen monitoring, pacemakers, defibrillators, cell phones, and wireless sensors
and actuators. A significant impediment in the

Essay about Role of Apra
APRA was established following the Wallis Committee s recommendation in 1 July 1998 under
Australian Prudential Regulation Authority Act. In the amended Banking Act 1959(Cth), responsibility
for the conduct of prudential supervision and depositor protection moves from the Reserve Bank to
APRA. Its intention is to provide for a more consistent, competitively neutral and efficient approach to
the regulation of financial institutions, while enhancing overall depositor protection and financial
system stability 1. This paper will thus find out about ARPA s responsibilities related to banking in
traditional sense of the term.

APS 110 sets out detailed capital requirements which apply on a stand alone as well as consolidated
group basic except foreign ADIs. APRA appraises the ADI s financial strength at three levels to ensure
that the ADI is adequately capitalised. These are level 1 comprising ADI itself or the ELE, level 2
consolidated banking group and level 3 the conglomerate group4. Furthermore, consistent with Basel
Capital Accord, the approach used by APRA for assessing an ADI s capital adequacy focuses on three
main elements. The definition of capital base and eligible components are set out in APS 111 capital
adequacy. A bank s risk weighted exposures are determined in accordance with requirements and
procedures in APS 112 credit risk and APS 113 market risk5.
Banks are required, unless APRA set higher levels, to maintain at level 1 and 2 as a minimum risk
weighted capital ratio of 4 % in Tier 1 and 8% for total capital at all times. APRA assess and takes into
account the general risks and other circumstances relevant for the individual ADI. A capital buffer
could be added by ADI if the ADI is judged as being vulnerable more than normal volatility in its
revenues and risks. In considering the required capital ratio, APRA considers all material risks, both
on and off balance sheet. Credit risks are placed into four

The Impact Of Television Commercials In Advertising
Our modern era, has made it possible for everyone to have access of technology at home. As
individuals watch daily television, the number of television ads they view daily is significant.
However, how do these television commercials shape or affect the gendered roles and norms expected
from women? In this paper, we will be analyzing the serious effects and expectations individuals can
acquire from commercial ads.
Television ads primarily focus on trying to promote an event or sell an item. It was found that the
commercial ads within an hour span from 2009 to 2013 has slightly increased from 13 minutes and 25
seconds to 14 minutes and 15 seconds (Flint 2014). Meaning that in just one hour we view on average
just 29 television commercials. Despite them being small 30 second commercials, they still can make
a big impact on individual s unconscious mind. Today in most advertisements, we see food, beer, or
beauty supplies. A strong portion of these commercial advertisements either use women to sell their
products or are directed towards women. These ads tend to scrutinize women sexually by objectifying
their bodies, persuading them to subject to a beauty standard, and by reinforcing their oppressive
gender roles.
Take for example beauty supplies commercials such as that of Clean and Clear. Clean and Clear
continuously creates new face washes and cleansers they want to sell, and as they advertise these
products, they constantly use thin, beautiful women with clear

Essay On Globalization And Trade Opportunities
Topic: Globalization and Trade opportunities
General Purpose: To Inform
Specific Purpose: To inform my audience about the opportunities brought by globalization when trade
is concerned.
Thesis: Globalization trade opportunities as the world has become closer and tied in client demand and
supply structures.
Introduction:
Distinguished Guests, Colleagues, Ladies and Gentlemen: As salamu alaykum. It is an honor and a
privilege to join you at this meeting, and to reflect with you on trade opportunities between our two
companies. With trade flows between our countries growing at an unprecedented rate, the timing of
your visit could not be better. Indeed, for many years, people have been buying and selling to one
another from all corners of the world. It is impossible for any country rich or poor as its economy
grows, to stay away from a global market where free trade and free movement of capital are pivotal to
a strong economy. As a matter of fact, trade and investment increase job opportunities all around the
world, and foreign money that comes into our companies may result in access to wider markets. From
trade opportunities to investment, the world has become closer, and tied in client supply and demand
structures. Therefore, it s important to acknowledge how important this meeting is for our two
companies. Today, I will address the three main arguments for trade opportunities, client supply and
demand structures in this globalization era, and how instrumental they are in a company s growth.
Key points:
First, I will discuss globalization and investment in the context of our venture
Second, I will discuss trade opportunities
Finally, I will discuss client supply and demand structures
I stand before you today as a representative of our company. As you know, globalization has enabled
increased levels of investment. It has made it easier for businesses to attract short term and long term
investment. And as a company specialized in construction materials, our goal is to expand our
distribution network to new countries such as Saudi Arabia the largest economy in the Middle East.
We are looking for a Saudi partner to embark in a joint venture. There are several agreements ratified

1. INTRODUCTION Web mining is the application of data mining technique which is an unstructured
or semi structured data and it automatically discovers and extracts potentially useful and previously
unknown information or knowledge from the web. The significant web mining applications are
website design, web search, search engines, information retrieval, network management, E commerce,
business and artificial intelligence, web market places and web communities. Online business breaks
the barrier of time and space as compared to the physical office business. Big companies around the
world are realizing that e commerce is not just buying and selling over Internet, rather it improves the
efficiency to compete with other giants in the market. This application includes the temporal issues for
the users. []
Web mining has three classifications namely, web content mining, web structure mining and web
usage mining. Each classification is having its own algorithms and tools. Web content mining is
nothing but the discovery of valuable information from web documents and these web documents may
contain text, image, hyperlinks, metadata and structured records. It is used to look at the information
by search engine or web spiders i.e. Google, Yahoo. It is the process of retrieving the useful
information from the web content or web documents. Web structure mining is also a process of

SURFACE PRESSURE MEASUREMENTS ON AN AEROFOIL IN TRANSONIC FLOW
Abstract
The objective of this exercise is to measure the pressure distribution across the surface on an aerofoil
in a wind tunnel. The aerofoil is tested under several different Mach numbers from subsonic to
supercritical. The purpose of measuring the pressure distributions is to assess the validity of the
Prandtl Glauert law and to discuss the changing chracteristics of the flow as the Mach number
increases from subsonic to transonic.
As a result of the experiment and computation of data, the aerofoil was found to have a critical Mach
number of M=0.732. Below this freestream Mach number the Prandtl Glauert law predicted results

Let s Go Aero manufactures travel trailers bought primarily by young families and retirees interested
in a light, low cost trailer that can easily be pulled by a mid sized family car. The market for travel
trailers has expanded nicely over the past few years due to the number of families seeking a relatively
low cost, outdoor vacation experience. But in the view of Let s Go Aero s president, Mark Newman,
the real growth in the future is in the retiree market. Newman believes the vigorous health of the

Underage Drinking And The Long Term Effect
There has been a large amount of research regarding underage drinking and the long term effect that it
can have on a person s body and their mental state. The public is often informed of phases and
activities that underage students are partaking in that can be extremely harmful to themselves that they
are not aware of. In the journal article The Use of Caffeinated Alcoholic Beverages Among Underage
Drinkers: Results of a National Survey they examine the relationship between the tendencies underage
drinkers who drink non traditional caffeinated alcoholic beverages and traditionally caffeinated
alcoholic beverages. The study defines non traditional CABs as Pre Mixed Sodas or Energy Drinks
with Liquor added and defined traditional CABs as Liquor with soda, coffee, or tea added by the
beverage consumer.
Previous research in this field has led to the determination that the consumption of caffeinated
alcoholic beverages leads to an increased level of high risk behavior among adolescents and young
adults. Some of these high risk behaviors include driving while intoxicated, unprotected sexual
activity, and illegal substance abuse. In addition, heavy binge drinking is widely accepted as
contributing to neurocognitive deficits and increased morbidity and mortality. Much of the previous
research has focused on college aged young adults. This study hopes to greatly shed light on the age
group from 13 to 17 years old (pre collegiate adolescents). In addition, the study hopes to

Significance Of Light In The Great Gatsby
The Great Gatsby is a dramatic tale of drama, romance, hate, and death but the theme of the story is
something much larger. The story of The Great Gatsby is set in New York in 1922 and spans over
several months. Even though this is the case of the story, the theme of the novel is symbolic of 1920s
America in its entirety. What F. Scott Fitzgerald depicts throughout the story is Gatsbys strive and
want for the american dream. Near the beginning of the story Gatsbys american dream seems so close
but as the story progresses it becomes more and more obvious that his dream is unattainable. The
green light in the story exemplifies this. Near the beginning of the story the light is bright and burning
and Gatsby is always looking at it but near the end of the story the light is nothing special and is just a
light.
In The Great Gatsby, Fitzgerald s overall theme is the corrupting influences of wealth and how they
affect the purity of a dream or in this case the american dream. In the story Nick says it best I am still

Planning: The need planning process follows traditional distribution requirements planning (DRP)
principles. The stores provide a forecast for each article for the coming three weeks (after the product

stores, and also netted against goods in transit. Thereafter the stores net requirements are aggregated

replenish the DCs. Each DC Group is thereafter aggregated and the calculated forecasted demand for
the coming 84 weeks is established. Volumes are divided between suppliers based on a so called
Supplier Matrix that determines the split of volumes between different suppliers. One DC SKU could
for example be sourced from two or three predetermined suppliers. 4) Supplier capacity planning: The
need calculation is used to plan capacity requirements at the suppliers. In the general agreements
between IKEA and its suppliers, IKEA often commits to provide a certain volume to a supplier. This is

The symptoms of the disease vary somewhat among individuals. However, there are three distinct
stages that a person suffering from Alzheimer s will experience. In the first stage, the patient
experiences some problems with memory loss and will often make lists or other aids to compensate
for this loss. The individual can begin to feel depressed or anxious because of the memory problems.
This stage often Goes unnoticed as symptoms of Alzheimer s (1).
The second stage is marked by the change from forgetfulness to severe memory loss. Long aGo events
are often easier to recall than things that have happened within the last few days. For example, one
might remember childhood events but are unable to remember what they saw on television last night
or what they ate for breakfast. Disorientation in relation to time and place occurs often, along with
increased anxiety and recurring mood swings. The patient also experiences dysphasia (inability in
finding the right word to say), increased difficulty with math problems, and loss of direction in
familiar places. Personality changes will soon become noticeable when this second stage is reached

Rhetorical Devices In The Glass Castle
Adversity, unfavorable fortune or fate; a condition marked by misfortune, calamity, or distress.
Adversity is something everyone encounters at some juncture in their life. Many people concede in the
face of adversity, while many people persevere through the struggles they face daily. Jennette Walls
wrote The Glass Castle, a memoir that unmasked the dark mysteries of The Walls Family s onerous
life. She continuously proves that no one s background they can make it through the adversity in their
lives. Jeannette captivates the readers by using rhetorical devices. She utilizes symbolism so she can
express the importance of certain objects in her life, imagery to include emotion and enthusiasm, and
irony to add a little humor to the book.
Objects can prove to be the cause of some of the most impactful features or events in someone s life.
Once he finished work on the Prospector and we struck it rich, he d start work on our Glass Castle.
(Walls 25). The Prospector was a symbol of aspiration, she wanted to have a more exciting and
fulfilling life. Although it also represents lies and distrustfulness because her father never actually
worked on the Prospector. Instead, he went out and got drunk. The Glass Castle is quite impactful in
Jeannette s life, it gave her hope for a better life. However it s not just that, it s confidence in her
father. That he will provide for her and create a good life for her, despite the drinking and other
horrible habits he has developed. Jeannette

What Is The Significance Of The June Rebellion
Nearly 800 people were injured or died in the June Rebellion of 1832. (Haven) Although Les
Miserables by Victor Hugo is fiction, it is important to remember that the events outlining this book
are history. There really was a barricade, and people really did die. The question we need to ask
ourselves is: did their deaths matter? Both the fictional and historical people in the June Rebellion
fought a noble fight. The people of the barricade in Les Miserables had good reason to lose their lives.
The rebels in the barricade were able to give immense hope to the people of Paris because they were
willing to take a stand. The movie exemplifies this throughout the ending scene. All the characters are
together walking through the streets and singing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the whole novel, there is an abundance of light references used to describe the republic
and what they were fighting for. The flag of the republic was pictured as, Nothing could be seen but
the red flag, fearfully lighted up, as if by an enormous dark lantern (Hugo, 275) Nothing else received
Hugo s praise as much as the symbol of the republic s fight. The flag received the same symbolism
that the bishop did when Jean Valjean decided not to kill him in his sleep. Another example of Hugo s
light references is when he wrote about Marius s fight. The torch in his hand, his stern face lighted by
a deadly resolution, bending the flame of the torch towards that formidable pile in which they
discerned the broken barrel of powder, and uttering that terrific cry. (Hugo, 285) Marius s face was
filled with purpose to fight for a better

Louis Sullivan Thought Summary
In the essay Thought by Louis H. Sullivan, he mainly discusses how words can come in middle of the
thoughts. He said that we just utilize words to correspond to other people. The rest of the time we
simply think and we don t use words. Sullivan says words are just thoughts and we can use creative
thinking instead of words to express our thoughts. His main point that he makes in the essay is that
thought and thinking is more valuable than words. He gave some very diverse examples in his essay
about metaphors of why words don t make difference. Also, he pointed out that people should not read
because when they read they try to copy others thoughts and ideas. They are many different types of
thoughts and thinking in our mind and they are stronger than words. The thing that made me pause
when is when Sullivan said that real thinking is done without words, words are clumsy and nobody
has time to connect words together. Sullivan said that thinking can be done with images, pictures, and
feelings, but wouldn t people need to express their thoughts of images through words? ... Show more

Paintings can reveal so many things about painters without saying any words. Most of the times we
don t need words to express the emotions or feelings, so painters use painting to do that. People need
words in some way to express things. It s not just painters who could be anything that can express
feelings and emotions. It would be difficult for many people to understand creative things, for many
people we need words to express something. Pictures do say many things without any type of words,
but it wouldn t make much sense. People need words for feelings and emotions, thoughts cannot

The Punic Wars
The Punic Wars were made of three major wars. The last war was kind of a punishment for Carthage
from Rome. The two powers in these wars were Rome and Carthage. Rome was controlling the main
peninsula of Italy while Carthage was controlling the islands and trade of the Mediterranean. Rome
and Carthage were once on a friendly term until things went south well. The Punic Wars have major
historical content that involve both leaders on opposite side as well as the battles among the two city
states. These wars were about two powerful city states trying to see who is more dominant. These
wars were like the US and Russia trying to show imperial power and show who is the bigger person in
town.
1The first Punic War was from 264 241 BC. In 264 BC, Rome intervened in a dispute on the western
coast on the island of Sicily which at that time was a Carthage province. The intervention was about
an attack by soldiers from Syracuse against Messina. Carthage supported Syracuse and Rome
supported Messina. The control of Sicily was at stake when both Carthage and Rome went into direct
conflict. Before the war started, Rome had been rebuilding its entire fleet in order to confront
Carthage powerful navy. Rome won its first naval victory at Mylae in 260 BC. At the end of the first
Punic War, the Roman fleet indecisive won against the Carthaginians at sea which ended the
Carthaginians legendary naval superiority. Sicily became Rome s first overseas province.
After its victorious win, Rome took

Arnold s Use Of Gender Roles In Torch Song Trilogy
Torch Song Trilogy
During the movie Torch Song Trilogy there is a use of numerous concepts. Each pertaining to the
relationship with Arnold. This movie took place in Brooklyn 1952, when Arnold was a young boy
until 1977, when Arnold is a grown man. This movie shows how homosexuals try to be happy with
who they are and just not everything goes the way you hope it would. Family may not be accepting
and once you fall in love sometimes it doesn t end up how you expected it would. This was such a
great movie to define homosexuality and the struggles they may go through to find themselves and be
accepting to who they are when everyone around them doesn t accept them.
In chapter one the use of the concept stigma, stigma is a characteristic that discredits ... Show more

Summary Of All Over Let s Eat By Dave Barry
Politics is a dangerous topic: minefields to the left and right, shrapnel everywhere, and often the best
opinion is no opinion. Dave Barry in Now That s It s All Over, Let s Eat! approaches the modern
American political apathy with a cynical eye. In 2012, before the second election of Barak Obama,
Americans were feeling a lack of faith in the political system. The Democrats were demonizing Mitt
Romney and the Republicans were bad mouthing Obama. Barry says that the American response to all
this drama should be to go watch football.
In the article, Barry has three observations about current political life: that both parties are filled with
less than bright politicians (who bill themselves as geniuses or at least as well informed), street
protests such as the march on Wall Street are honestly not very effective, and that there is no fun in
politics anymore and no one has a sense of humor.
I know that before I go on a trip that I always check the weather, because I have been stuck on
vacation in miserable weather too many times. The author gives the example of the Republican
convention in Florida during ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
stupid. Barry relates the story of driving through Tampa, when two people wearing furry pig suits say
that they are trying to convert people to veganism. His mental response was not thoughts of meatless
meals but of these people are insane, I could go for some barbeque. The author also shares his belief in
the inefficacy of shouting in large groups. Occupy Wall Street was a prime example of this mentality. I
do sympathize with many of their aims, because I am definitely one of the 99%. However, when they
did a months long protest in Philadelphia at City Hall, I went home the long way around because the
protesters came across as dangerous and possibly unstable. As the late Terry Pratchett said, The
intelligence of that creature known as a crowd is the square root of the number of people in

How Did Marat Contribute To The French Revolution
Jean Paul Marat was an important figure in the French revolution because of his tactful writing style,
his callings for more violence, and the legacy he left in the French revolution.
To start, Jean Paul Marat was an important figure in the French Revolution because of his tactful
writing style. The title of his Newspaper that was published during the duration of the French
revolution was Ami du peuple, which translates to Friend of the People. Titling his paper in this
manner offered Marat many benefits. In chosing the world friend, Marat makes a connection with the
common French citizen by implying that he is invested and interested in the well being of all French
citizens not only the wealthy members of society . The word friend was also used in a way to subtly
expose the common enemy of the French people. To call oneself a friend implies that other members
of French society are the enemy of the common people. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In his death, Marat was shown as a martyr for a just cause after he was assassinated by a French
woman named Charlotte Corday. The painting the Death of Marat by Jacques Louis David glorifies
his death making him seem like a figure of purity that was killed Jean Paul Marat became historically
significant as he is shown in the eyes of the French people as if Marat almost possessed divine
qualities. The painting also displays Marat s dead body in a similar fashion to the crucifixion of Christ.
In the eulogy, given by Marquis de Sade, he compared Marat to Jesus by saying, Like Jesus, Marat
loved ardently the people, and only them. Like Jesus, Marat hated kings, nobles, priests, rogues and,
like Jesus, he never stopped fighting against these plagues of the people Likening the death of a
journalist and revolutionist to the death of a religious figure, insured the people of France that he had

This morning i woke up startled by the enormously loud sound of an alarm on my friend s phone. His name was Bailey Ivester. I ve known him since 6th grade year. Boy is he annoying sometimes. Most of the time he acts like he is the top dog or the best of the best . He stayed over at my house the day before, we were both supposed to try out for the soccer team. To be honest. He really wasn t that good at it. Like i said, he thought he was the best of the best . After we woke up Bailey and i ate breakfast that my mother had prepared. It was so delicious and very specific. I had a lot of confidence in myself and tried to hype up my team and gave my team an inspiring speech when we all came together to form a circle. Next we all walked onto the field into our positions, i was starting. I was the left forward position. Forwards in soccer are the most difficult position on the field because that was the position where your suppose to score most of the points and control the offense. I was always a forward because coach said i had a lot of speed, agility, and good footwork. At this time the game had started, we had the ball first i passed it to the other forward on our team. His name was Jimmy, he was the most aggressive forward on our team. He was a great forward. At this time it was near the end of the game. The score was 3 6 we were losing terribly. Everybody on our team was tired and bummed out and lost hope. We were all tired of losing all the time. I saw the emptiness in everyone s eyes. I felt sad as well. While i was running on the field i heard our goalkeeper named Matias yell out GRAYSON !!. I turned around fast and forgot everything else. I saw Matias lob the ball down the other side of the field to where i was running. My eyes were all on that ball, i saw it flying in the air then falling towards me while i ran as fast as i could to catch up to it. A voice in my head just kept saying, just go for it! . So i waited at the right moment to where the ball was perfectly positioned to where i was able to header the ball into the goal. Finally it was that time, i lunged into the air as high as i could, as soon as i tried to header the ball into the goal in mid air. One of the players on the opponent s team came out of nowhere!! • 5. William Shakespeare s The Prince And Julius Caesar Texts are a reflection of its contextual values; it is evident that aspects of human nature remain constant irrespective of context. Texts ruminative of this include Tim Parks translation of Niccolo Machiavelli s The Prince (1532) and William Shakespeare s historical tragedy Julius Caesar (1599). The values and attitudes of these two texts anticipated responders and influenced purpose, form and content such as the darker aspects of humanism, the changeless nature of man, and the fickle nature of people. Machiavelli s text The Prince mirrors the darker aspects of humanism man is essentially corrupt, self serving and deceptive . Machiavelli suggests that the most supreme approach to change the degenerate individual into a decent individual is through the good law, although even the best law is pointless. Machiavelli characterizes man as being self serving and not willing to act in the best interest of the state, and when the prince is in danger they turn against him . Machiavelli strengthens the prince s need to be feared by stating, Men worry less about doing an injury to one who makes himself loved than to one who makes himself feared . To acquire honour, Machiavelli suggests that a prince must be readily willing to deceive the citizens. These treacherous measures would bring the prince honour and trust among the citizen, suggesting that man s nature is changeless, which is exemplified in Shakespeare s Julius Caesar through the character of Mark Antony. Mark Antony in Julius Caesar abandoned Caesar as soon as he is killed and to seek his own glory. Being a true friend of Caesar, Mark Antony promises Caesar s soul that he would seek revenge against the conspirators for his brutal murder, And Caesar s spirit, ranging for revenge, with Ate by his side come hot from hell...That this foul deed shall smell above the earth with carrion men, groaning for burial. . • 6. The Bishop Orders His Tomb And My Last Duchess In his poems, The Bishop Orders His Tomb , Soliloquy of the Spanish Cloister , and My Last Duchess , Browning explores a few sins that link to Victorian ideas yet continue to be compelling commentary on some of the modernity s biggest contradictions. These characters process the world according to their own selfish ideologies, filtering into dramatic monologues that challenge and comment on the time s social norms and growing institutions. The narrator of Soliloquy of the Spanish Cloister is resentful and irrationally petty contrary to the monolithic idea of a monk. In My Last Duchess charm thinly veils the tyrannical nature of a respected Duke. Lastly, the bishop of The Bishop Orders His Tomb is sour with greed, jealousy, vanity, and resentment. These characters act out of their socially prescribed nature and this, I think, is ultimately a critique of Victorian ideals of order, structure, poise, domesticity and perfection. These ideas of people and institutions rarely reflect the reality. In Soliloquy of the Spanish Cloister , a Spanish monk monologues about his irrational hatred for a Brother Lawrence. He mocks with disdain, creates ideas of Brother Lawrence that paint him in an undesirable light, dreams of sabotaging the monk s garden of melons, and even concocts a plan that will presumably send Brother Lawrence to hell. Such bitterness is punctuated by the idea that this monk would be willing to sell his soul simply for the pleasure of enacting Brother ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One of the most versatile types of cell is a stem cell. Stem cells are cells that have not been specialized yet; in other words, they do not have a specific job. For example, nerve cells work to send signals throughout your body, while stem cells do not have any specific functions. But they do possess the ability to develop into all of the other different types of specialized cells in our body. With regenerative abilities, stem cells are capable of renewing themselves through cell division and when the stem cell divides to create another cell, the new cell has the potential to either stay a stem cell or differentiate into a ... HSCs have showed a widespread of potential clinical uses and today, researchers continue to advance their knowledge of stem cells and dig deeper with hopes of widening the clinical uses of HSCs. The first evidence of HSCs came from victims of the nuclear bombing in 1945. Research indicated that the victims, who died over a prolonged period, had compromised hematopoietic systems; in other words, their bodies were unable to regenerate either white blood cells to protect against infections or platelets to clot their blood. To further their understanding, an experiment was conducted on mice, in which they were exposed to radiation, identical to the citizens of Nagasaki and Hiroshima. The mice, which were given the minimal lethal dose, died of hematopoietic failure during the two weeks following after the radiation exposure, similar to the citizens. Scientists later discovered that they could rescue the mice from hematopoietic failure by injecting cells from blood forming organs of healthy mice. This discovery uncovered the importance of the hematopoietic system and its functions, such as the bone marrow s role in the regeneration of blood and immune cells. Early research of HSCs primarily focused on characterizing HSCs from other cells. Identifying and differentiating HSCs from other cells proved to be easier said than done, ... • 9. Symbols In Macbeth Essay The final act of Shakespeare s Macbeth is the culmination of the entire play, and Shakespeare uses heavy symbolism to portray the final ideas of this tragedy. In the first scene, it is revealed that Lady Macbeth has been sleepwalking, an expression of her anxiety. However, the Doctor asks How came she by that light (i. 23) and why she rubs // her hands (i. 28 29). Throughout the play, Lady Macbeth has been wrought with guilt because of Duncan s death. Now, she has an ever burning candle always at her side. This candle represents her state of mind, with the lit wick her guilt that constantly eats away at her. Additionally, while Macbeth unravels, he asks his servant Seyton, an allusion in his own rite, to put on and take off his armor multiple times, a verbal indication of this disorder. However, it goes deeper than just the words themselves, but the division of the scenes is symbolic of this unraveling. While Shakespeare did not write his plays into scenes, the constant change of character and location within Act V in stark contrast to many longer scenes from the rest of the play make apparent the undoing of Macbeth. Finally, the death of Macbeth is the ultimate symbol within the end. Up until this point, every character had died in the night (except for Young Siward) and an unnatural darkness had consumed most of the play. At the time of the final battle, the sun, a symbol of good and victory, shines high over Macbeth s defeat. This moment culminates the conflicts of evil and good, night and day, Macbeth and Scotland, and restores the order to the chain of being. For one thing, their lending practice deters growth because the money they loan removes incentives for governments to advance economic freedom, and breeds corruption. For these reasons, the vast majority of recipient countries have been unable to develop fully after depending on these institutions for over 40 years.2 Later in the same article she says that the World Bank and the IMF create disincentives in the countries they are trying to help. Modern society has systematically sorted the human race into collections and communities of descriptive factors. Deeply embedded within a systematical labeling system, diversity has fell victim to the harmful segregation and prejudice of the past. Diversity is not about the inferior nor the morally corrupt. Diversity is not the hallow substance of labels. Diversity is culture, pride, and heritage. To rural South Dakotans, diversity amongst the human race is rare. In the agricultural state I call home, variation lies not in the people but rather in the contrasting species of livestock and corn. Hailing from a town population of 3,025, any kind of knowledge about a social world beyond Hartford, South Dakota was limited. I set up my childhood moral system on a tainted blend of inaccurate perceptions and assumptions. A moral system which would ring true until I found myself as the diversity. I am my own diversity. • 17. The Relationship Between The Mind And Body That I Find... In this paper, I will examine a particular model of the relationship between the mind and body that I find especially attractive: Margaret Cavendish s Panpsychism. In my discussion of Cavendish s Panpsychism, I will contrast it with two other models namely, Descartes s Substance Dualism and Hobbes s Materialism to accentuate particular nuances of the model. Next, I will provide reasoning for why I find Cavendish s Panpsychism so attractive. After, I will consider the strongest argument I believe one could make against my specific support of Cavendish s Panpsychism; an objection known as the Combination Problem. Finally, I will provide a rebuttal to this objection; one that will render my argument in favor of Cavendish s Panpsychism even stronger. Margaret Cavendish s Panpsychism is similar, yet dissimilar, to Panpsychism, as it is generically defined. The generic definition of Panpsychism is the following: the doctrine that mind is a fundamental feature of the world which exists throughout the universe (Seager). Because Panpsychism fails to provide both a detailed explanation of the nature of the mind and an explanation for how the mind and body interact, it can not be considered a substantive model of the relationship between the mind and body (Skrbina). However, Cavendish succeeds in rendering Panpsychism a substantive model (from here on the word model will be an abbreviation for the phrase model of the relationship between the mind and body ). • 18. Multitasking Experiment and Results Introduction Multitasking is part of everyday life. Daily routines from driving to work or school, to coming home, involve people handling more than one task at a time. At what point is it too much to handle before mistakes are being made? When someone answers a call on their cell phone while driving, that is multitasking, and that has shown to be hazardous. When a student is instant messaging and writing a paper at the same time, that is hazardous as well, but not in the way one would immediately think. Heavy media use may be associated with decreased social well being and could cause harm on young adults psychological functioning. Also, people who often multitask with media such as the TV, the internet, etc, have shown instances in which there was a diminished ability to effectively filter non important information cognitively. The usage of media that college students use today has increased by at least 20% in the last decade (Alzahabi Becker, 2013). According to Stephen Monsell, everything people do requires a schema or task set to perform that function. Mr. Monsell stated that we use executive control to pick and perform the proper task set(s) that are necessary to complete our current goals or activities without being distracted to complete other unnecessary goals or activities (Monsell, 2003). Executive Control or Executive Function is a mental process that connects past experiences people have had with present actions they are going through. People use this when ... Teachers main concerns in poverty is in what manner it impacts the child s development. Families who live in poverty face drawbacks that can delay their children s development in various ways (Duncan, 2014). Not all teachers identify the impact that a child in poverty has to go thru each day. It is hard trying to concentrate in classwork when one is thinking about where they will sleep or when they will have their next meal. This paper demonstrates resources that a teacher can practice when having a child in poverty in their classroom so they can better comprehend of the student. It also addresses the global effects of poverty and educational outcomes by containing findings from both developed and developing countries. Teacher s support and society can benefit a child in poverty and the family. According to Patrice L. Engle and Maureen M. Black Poverty affects a child s development and educational outcomes beginning in the earliest years of life, both directly and indirectly through mediated, moderated, and transactional processes. School readiness, or the child s ability to use and profit from school, has been acknowledged as playing a unique role in escape from poverty in the United States and gradually in developing countries. Polytheism is the worshiping of many deities. Drug use can be defined as continues use of alcohol, illegal drugs or the misuse of over the counter drugs or prescription drugs leading to negative consequences. This is done by the use of brain scans, including MRI scans; also know as magnetic resonance imaging. This type of brain scan allows scientist to see detailed images of the organs and tissues within your body by a technique that uses a magnetic field and radio waves. The magnetic field temporarily realigns hydrogen atoms in the body and is able to show brain activity. Hosea was the first minor prophet. It does not mean that he is less important than other major prophets, but because they have shorter books that s why it calls Minor Prophets. Even when he enters the ward, McMurphy has that kind of swagger kind of walk and he laughs, something that has not been done by any of the patients on the ward. He is full of brass and swagger and full of assurance and arrogance with his hanging thumbs in the belt loop of his pants, his heavily scarred skin, his many tattoos, and his fresh scar on the bridge of his nose (95). After being sent to Disturbed, McMurphy was confronted with the decision to admit he was wrong and avoid electroshock therapy, to which he responded to the nurse saying, Those Chinese Commies could have learned a few things from you, lady. Due to this high arrogance in his confidence, McMurphy received electroshock therapy along with three other treatments that same very week. This all led up to the major consequence of lobotomy, in which McMurphy was essentially made a vegetable, to be nothing more than a cautionary tale on Nurse Ratched s ward. Using A Handheld Portable Gas Detector Weighting Up One of the main challenges in this effort is how to autonomously operate multiple sensors for oxygen monitoring and to replace the existing technology which is based on a handheld portable gas detector weighting up to 5lbs and placed in the belt or waistband of the worker. Our innovative design is based on converting wasted mechanical energy from the movement of the worker to useful amount of energy by using the piezoelectric transduction mechanism. Depending on the movement of the worker and the performed tasks, two possible piezoelectric energy harvesting systems can be designed. The first one will be composed of a flexible piezoelectric layer attached on the top of an aluminum sheet and directly attached to the skin of the worker as a band, as shown in Fig. 2(a). As for the second design of the energy harvester shown in Fig. 2(b), it will be based on the available excitation motion of the worker. This harvester will be efficient when the resonance phenomenon takes place. This harvester will be integrated in the clothes of the worker. As for the second design, low frequency excitations are present due to the worker s motion including walking and contraction and expansion of his muscles. These low excitation motion can provide viable amounts of wasted mechanical energy that can be converted to power many critical devices including sensors for oxygen monitoring, pacemakers, defibrillators, cell phones, and wireless sensors and actuators. As individuals watch daily television, the number of television ads they view daily is significant. However, how do these television commercials shape or affect the gendered roles and norms expected from women? In this paper, we will be analyzing the serious effects and expectations individuals can acquire from commercial ads. Television ads primarily focus on trying to promote an event or sell an item. It was found that the commercial ads within an hour span from 2009 to 2013 has slightly increased from 13 minutes and 25 seconds to 14 minutes and 15 seconds (Flint 2014). Meaning that in just one hour we view on average just 29 television commercials. Despite them being small 30 second commercials, they still can make a big impact on individual s unconscious mind. Today in most advertisements, we see food, beer, or beauty supplies. A strong portion of these commercial advertisements either use women to sell their products or are directed towards women. These ads tend to scrutinize women sexually by objectifying their bodies, persuading them to subject to a beauty standard, and by reinforcing their oppressive gender roles. Take for example beauty supplies commercials such as that of Clean and Clear. The question we need to ask ourselves is: did their deaths matter? Both the fictional and historical people in the June Rebellion fought a noble fight. The people of the barricade in Les Miserables had good reason to lose their lives. The flag of the republic was pictured as, Nothing could be seen but the red flag, fearfully lighted up, as if by an enormous dark lantern (Hugo, 275) Nothing else received Hugo s praise as much as the symbol of the republic s fight. The flag received the same symbolism that the bishop did when Jean Valjean decided not to kill him in his sleep. Another example of Hugo s light references is when he wrote about Marius s fight. He said that we just utilize words to correspond to other people. The rest of the time we simply think and we don t use words. Sullivan says words are just thoughts and we can use creative thinking instead of words to express our thoughts. His main point that he makes in the essay is that thought and thinking is more valuable than words. He gave some very diverse examples in his essay about metaphors of why words don t make difference. Also, he pointed out that people should not read because when they read they try to copy others thoughts and ideas. The Punic Wars have major historical content that involve both leaders on opposite side as well as the battles among the two city states. These wars were about two powerful city states trying to see who is more dominant. In 264 BC, Rome intervened in a dispute on the western coast on the island of Sicily which at that time was a Carthage province. The intervention was about an attack by soldiers from Syracuse against Messina. Carthage supported Syracuse and Rome supported Messina. • 49. Summary Of All Over Let s Eat By Dave Barry Politics is a dangerous topic: minefields to the left and right, shrapnel everywhere, and often the best opinion is no opinion. Dave Barry in Now That s It s All Over, Let s Eat! approaches the modern American political apathy with a cynical eye. In 2012, before the second election of Barak Obama, Americans were feeling a lack of faith in the political system. The Democrats were demonizing Mitt Romney and the Republicans were bad mouthing Obama. Barry says that the American response to all this drama should be to go watch football. In the article, Barry has three observations about current political life: that both parties are filled with less than bright politicians (who bill themselves as geniuses or at least as well informed), street protests such as the march on Wall Street are honestly not very effective, and that there is no fun in politics anymore and no one has a sense of humor. Occupy Wall Street was a prime example of this mentality. I do sympathize with many of their aims, because I am definitely one of the 99%. However, when they did a months long protest in Philadelphia at City Hall, I went home the long way around because the protesters came across as dangerous and possibly unstable.
