The Importance Of Social Disconnection And Alienation
Our society should be aware of social disconnection and alienation due to the increase of
technological advances. How do technological advances lead to disconnection and alienation?
People can feel disconnected from reality, from themselves, or from other people. They physically
alienate themselves willingly by withdrawing from a source that can be a cause of pain or
discomfort; such as bullying, disagreements, past relations, family or work issues.
Maria Furukawa states that Advancements, particularly in handheld devices, such as smartphones,
iPads, and smart watches, have made our lives more efficient by making everything we need
accessible at the tap of a screen or a swipe to the left. Essentially, technology has taken the hard
work of talking to someone in person, of physically reading a book and of using our minds to do
some mental math and replaced it with a device. I have noticed that technology, ironically,
disconnects us from living in the present moment. Even though we try our hardest to communicate
what we mean over text, there is still a possibility for miscommunication or misinterpretation of
what was written. If instead, a conversation was held in person, facial expressions, changes in tone,
and hand gestures are some ways that miscommunication can be avoided. (Furukawa 2017) People
can create a virtual world by using these devices with the increase of screen time and internet usage.
They are subjected to advertisements, unrealistic standards, online bullying and constant access to
negative information. In this virtual world, there are numerous sites for social networking. In this
case, people do not need to physically interact with one another and can espouse any persona to
their present need.
Dwight G. Dean, in his article, explains that The concept of Alienation is considered here as having
three major components: Powerlessness, Normlessness, and Social Isolation. (Dean 1961) Humans
by nature need interaction with other humans. It s a biological necessity. Hawkley states that As a
social species, humans rely on a safe, secure social surround to survive and thrive. Perceptions of
social isolation, or loneliness, increase vigilance for threat and heighten feelings of vulnerability

An Analysis Of To His Coy Mistress By Andrew Marvell
In the poem, To His Coy Mistress, by Andrew Marvell, The narrator is writing a letter to a
woman he is courting, which the storyteller feels that life is short and this woman needs to stop
showing mixed feelings towards him, to know her true feelings. The narrator is convinced that
there is not enough time for this woman to be shy, regarding her feelings to him, in addition to,
his opinion of believing that he is the best man for her, but if this woman does not feel the same
way, then let the narrator live his life and to not make him wait for a decision from her. The
message of this poem that is conveyed by the author, life is too short to wait on someone else s
decision of whether a person feels the same way, or if they are being timid about how they feel
about someone. One of the main points made by Marvell, is that life is too short for this lady to
mull over whether she likes the author or does not want to pursue anything other than friendship,
instead of what the author wants, love and marriage. In this excerpt from the poem by Marvell
is stating that he feels that there will not be enough time before this woman decides how she
feels about the narrator. But at my back I always hear /Time s wingГЁd chariot hurrying near;
And yonder all before us lie /Deserts of vast eternity, (21 24). Secondly, the author is convinced
that his love will be the best for this woman that he is courting. Marvell feels that his love is
perfect for this woman, as evidenced in

Tiananmen Research Paper
After few days later, October 1st will be China s 68th birthday. There are going to be a
magnificent celebration ceremony at Tian An Men square. In 1949, Chairman Mao boarded the
gate tower of Tiananmen and then announced to the world in his native mandarin that new China
was founded after the Chinese people won a peaceful and stable country after decades of fighting.
In the meantime, we have the awakening of our own consciousness and the struggle between
different ideologies of traditional culture. The martyr s resistance with all cost is to live with
dignity and for the sake of their posterity. It is a very proud thing that we can stand on our own
land and strive for ourselves. Tiananmen Square, the world s largest city square, is located... Show

I have a different opinion since it represents different symbols at different times. Over the past 100
years, Tiananmen square has been reshaped, reshaped and expanded. It reflects the political
changes of a country. In the beginning of the history, Tiananmen, which primitive name is
ChengTian Gate, was not only the main gate of the Qing and Ming dynasties, but also the
important place for the great celebrations and the national decree, and the majesty of the emperor.
On February 12, 1912, on the tiananmen gate, the emperor announced his decision to abdicate. In
May 1914, Beiyang government launched a plan to transform the old capital city. The first steps
was to remove thousand steps corridor so that tiananmen square could turn the enclosed palace
square into an open space for freedom of passage and sojourn. The original majesty and mysterious
imperial power were dissolved. Few years later, because of dissatisfaction with the Beiyang
government at the end of the first world war diplomatic failure on the Paris peace conference , on
May 4, 1919, thousands of students gathered near Tiananmen square, took out the slogan for
sovereign externally to punish kleptocratic , to force the government to respond. Since then, the

Meursault And Raskolnikov
How can the way a character acts or treats other people push the plot of a book forward? Fyodor
Dostoevsky s novel Crime and Punishment and Albert Camus novella The Stranger both feature
main characters guilty of committing murder; however, the the two main characters, Meursault
and Raskolnikov, act very differently and so their fates end up very different. The main character
of the The Stranger is a man simply called Monsieur Mersault. Camus presents Meursault as an
honest person. This doesn t necessarily work in his favor, as he tells people repeatedly that things
don t matter. He is very emotionally detached from everyone and everything. He does not even cry
when his own motherdies, and he does not lovethe woman who is supposed to be his love interest.

Meursault, true to his characterization, doesn t really react. He feels no guilt because he does not
feel like anything matters. The murder he committed was just another thing that happened. He is
caught and put on trial for his crimes. The prosecutor uses his indifference toward the death of his
mother and everything else to get him convicted. Even after his conviction, he doesn t show any
emotion. Raskolnikov, however, immediately becomes paranoid about what he has done and
thinks that everyone knows. He falls ill after his crime and the people around him start to
believe he has gone insane. This leads people to suspect him of committing the crime. Perhaps
had he not acted the way he did, no one would suspect of the crime. Despite actually having
feelings after his crime, Raskolnikov also feels no guilt for killing the old woman because of his
philosophy about extraordinary men. He simply dislikes the fact that he wasn t successful and
therefore not an extraordinary man. Raskolnikov ends up confessing to the crime and because of
his supposed insanity after the murder it is decided that he is not some simple

Going To Jail
HEAD DOWN THE TOILET
What s worst, being the shortest in the grade or going to jail? How about going to jail for being
the shortest in the grade! I know what you re thinking, how can someone be locked up for being
vertically challenged? Well the truth is it wasn t your usual arrest, then court, then jail
procedures, in fact there was no police involved at all. If there were then maybe they would have
seen how someone of my status, my four foot seven pimple faced, bracer faced, glasses face
status could not even attempt anything as badass and remotely worthy of being locked up. You

Halfway through every year we are expected to go on an excursion. This year s excursion was to
Mangalo Prison. Mangalo prison was famous in our town as people believed criminals left there
evil spirits behind in there, that and the fact it was nearly a hundred years old was the only
reason why it still existed. Finding a seat on the school bus was like a hierarchy, you know,
popular people at the back, nerds at the front and then there s the loser who sits next to the bus
driver. I didn t mind sitting next to the bus driver, I suppose after seven years you get to know
the guy. It was a lot easier to talk to Steve that trip because unlike the usual chaotic yelling,
everyone was listening to Jimmy Dunning s Mangalo Prison ghost stories. As much as I
disliked Jimmy and his strange desire to flush my head down toilets, his stories were actually
terrifying. The town of Mangalo was like those deserted towns you see in movies where the only
thing moving is a tumble weed. It wasn t hard to spot the jail as the houses were the size of tents.
We were escorted through the jail by a rugged looking man who looked as though he once called
the place home. Once the tour was over we were free to explore and wonder the jail ourselves.
When I was quietly examining rude graffiti on a jail cell, I felt the most concussive feeling of my
neck being jarred as I was shoved from behind into a cell wall. How I got from being pressed up
against the wall to my head stuck

Lab Report On The Lab
1. Accurately records experimental procedures.
I think this objective means that we need to make sure we understand the procedure or steps for
the lab. Knowing the steps for the lab is extremely important because especially in chemistry if
something is done out of order it can be dangerous. So recording the procedure in our lab book is
important. This relates to my major of Political Science in that in Political Science, recording down
things accurately is very important and if something isn t recorded accurately it could be dangerous
like in chemistry lab. In my lab report for the Density Lab I recorded the steps to the lab. The
objective of that lab was to find out what procedure was preferable for finding density. This made it
very important to makes sure the experimental procedure was recorded accurately.
2. Accurately records data, observations, and results. This objective means to record what we
observe and calculate during the experiment as accurately as possible, most errors that occur in
an experiment are due to mistakes when recording data, observations and results. This relates to
my major of Political Science because there is a lot of things one has to record data on based on
observations, and the results of a political science experiment are important because it can change
how the world is looked at, if the data or observations are wrong people are getting inaccurate
information. In my lab book for The Relationship Between the Volume of Gas and Temperature

Comparison Of Twenty Pink Questions And Rabbit-Proof Fence
The two Australian texts, a short story published in 2006 titled Twenty Pink Questions by Fabienne
Bayet Charlton and the 2002 film Rabbit Proof Fence directed by Philip Noyce, both explore the
idea of the injustice of forced child abduction. Twenty Pink Questions, details an insightful
conversation between an Aboriginal mother and her child who repeatedly ask questions about the
history of the Stolen Generation in order to understand her personal story. In comparison, Rabbit
proof fence depicts the lives of three Aboriginal girls who were removed from their families and
placed in the Moore River Native Settlement in 1931, whilst exploring the unjust policy enforced by
the Australian government during that time period that led to the mistreatment of Aboriginal
people. Contrastingly, both texts incorporate different language and... Show more content on

Indigenous language throughout past generations was lost. For instance, Ashlyn further asks Mum,
why did the Aboriginals take the children away? Throughout the conversation, even the child

The God s Script Short Story
The God s Script, by Jorge Luis Borges, is representing the structure of knowledge through a dream
of TzinacГЎn, the central character, and the narrative presence of the jaguar. Borges wrote the short
story to describe TzinacГЎn s dream of the god s script, a language that would help him fulfill his
destiny while he is imprisoned: his destiny is to be able to die in peace. TzinacГЎn is a magician
of the pyramid of Qaholom. He can survive torture in silence; he will never lose hope. In this short
story, Borges is trying to say the dreams reveal knowledge of things that can come to reality.

He knows he will not see daylight again besides the split second of light through the openings.
However, TzinacГЎn s gods also give him hope for his destiny in prison. One of his gods is
represented as the pyramid of Qaholom, that is burned and demolished. As he said, They struck
down the idol of the god before my very eyes, but he did not abandon me and I endured the
torments in silence (169). When he talks about the pyramid, he seems like he is more pleased that
his gods are here with him instead of completely disappearing. He clearly stated that they are not
abandoning him; even though he is being tortured, they do not leave his side. The impressions of
the things that are happening to him are like the things that happen to his gods. TzinacГЎn senses
that the things he thinks about represent furthering his knowledge, getting him closer to knowing
his god s script. He knows of the script, but wants more structured knowledge of and the
whereabouts of the script. As he stated, The fact that a prison confined me did not forbid my
hope; perhaps I had seen the script of Qaholom a thousand times and needed only to fathom it
(170). He reflects that it is only right that the gods are leaving access to the script to him to have
as part his destiny. From the tone of the story, the knowledge he has of his gods

Charles Darwin Observation
Observation: Viewing Nature through an Artistic Lens
While visual art has played an important role in many sciences, it was integral to the development
and acceptance of the theory of evolution, as it enabled Charles Darwin to more clearly express
his theories to the general public and other scientists alike. Darwin displayed a sharp eye for visual
differences, (Donald, 5) which is the quality that truly set the visionary apart from other scientists
and the careful observation that allowed him to develop his theories of evolution. Alexander von
Humboldt also exemplified this trait in his journeys that laid the framework for scientific
observation. This keen sense was invaluable in the scientific studies of these two men, as it allowed

Haeckel aimed to forge a personal connection to nature not dissimilar to the connection
Humboldt wished to instill. Though his father wished him to become a doctor, Haeckel loathed
medicine and pursued a passion for zoology, with a specific interest in aquatic invertebrates.
Upon hearing of his hero Humboldt s death, Haeckel began to embrace more of a bohemian
lifestyle, and began to paint more frequently and engage less in scientific experimentation (Wulf,
303). Haeckel realized he would have to take up a position as a professor if he was to marry the
woman he loved, Anna. When he began analyzing specimens through his microscope again, he
viewed them from the perspective of not only a scientist but also an artist, and was mesmerized
by the invertebrates that looked like delicate works of art (Wulf, 304). His observation through a
microscope led to his discovery of radiolarians, single celled aquataic invertebrates that have very
impressive designs and patterns. Much like Darwin and Humboldt, Haeckel displayed incredible
powers of observation as well as extraordinary skill in portraying his observations through
masterful sketches and paintings. Haeckel could observe specimens with one eye down the
microscope and one eye on his drawing board at the same time (Wulf, 304), allowing him to
perfectly translate what he was seeing through his microscope into drawing. This process of

Flat Tax
Flat Tax Rate: Rich Households Have Had Enough Rich households have been paying too much
in taxes these past years. Earners in the top 1% pay about 43% of their incomes in tax. [While]
people in the middle quintile pay 25%. [And] the poorest fifth pays 13% (Barro). And yet some
politicians, like Donald Trump, think the solution to resolving our country s debt is by taxing the
top percent more. In reality, the United Statesshould have a flat taxrate due to the fact that it is the
fairest plan and the hard work pertained by the top percent should be valued. The way flat tax
rate works is that everyone gets taxed the same percentage regardless of their income. For example,

It is also used of resources such as building schools, roads, paying government employees but the
fact of the matter is that its all for the public. Why should you make high income citizens pay for
things that everyone is using. We should all put in the same amount of money that goes into
these projects, since after all there for everyones use. Why would you penalize people that
worked hard for their money when everyone else had the opportunity to do so. Even if its old
money, someone struggled to gather that money, the government cannot just take that away.
Being rich is rare privilege, not fairly common, if not it would not feel so unique. With the

income for our population. If not people will not have any ambition, not strive. A country has to

Those that are in the highest class have studied and trained so hard to where they are. Most of
them have corporations in which provide work, if a flat tax was issued those same corporations
would have more resources to expand their business to create more job. With the rate our tax plans

Function Of Humorists In Status Anxiety By Latins Anony
A few people may have the audacity to say that the United States presidential election of 2016 was a
buffoonery. From email scandals to the usage of vulgar language, it can be said for certain that the
nation was divided up between two political extremes. However, despite the controversy within the
nation, we saw the rise of a band of citizens speak freely about their beliefs, humorists. In Alain de
Botton s 2004 book, Status Anxiety, he challenges the notion about the function of humorists in
society. Substantially, he claims that humorists do not simply entertain others, but in addition, to
convey with impunity messages that might be dangerous or impossible to state directly. The author
believes this due to the fact humorists are granted... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rarely heard of, one unique, humorous speech named the La La Awards by Latins Anonymous
tackles a genuine issue in the world. It is a satirical monologue about an emcee rejecting their
heritage, in this case a Latino heritage, by impersonating white prominent figures in culture at an
awards show. At the end of the monologue, the emcee professes their genuine identity, a proud
bilingual individual with a Latino background. Aside its humorous content, it teaches society a
valuable lesson. It encourages culture to embrace their shared humanity, one of countless struggles
humans fear to do. How do we know if this would actually occur? We are compelled by those who
we look up to or make a sacrifice for the greater good. Consequently, humorists do not merely
entertain, but educate society in a humanistic perspective. While some may argue that humorists
may serve a pointless purpose in the community, it is apparent they play a factor in the world.
Humorists consist of cartoonists, stand up comics, satirical writers, and hosts of television
programs, all of which are actual jobs. Stating they just make people laugh discourages their self
esteem, ultimately affecting society because they are influentially deprived. Thereby, humorists
should not be viewed as incompetent because they speak openly for a multitude of people, and

Gerda Weissmann is a strong figure, who stayed brave during the Holocaust. Gerda Weissmann has

The Patent Law Of Taiwan
This thesis is to address the possibility of adapting the patent law in Taiwan, compared with what is
done in India. These adjustments utilize the so called TRIPS flexibilities embodied in the TRIPS
Agreement (The Agreement on Trade Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights), as Annex
1C of the Marrakesh Agreement establishing the World Trade Organization (hereinafter the WTO)
which came into effect in January, 1995. As a trade off between promoting knowledge diffusion
and exclusivity to use the knowledge, the patent system is part of the minimum standard established

TRIPS flexibilities, because wiggle room in fact exists in the TRIPS Agreement. For example,
Brazil employs this idea in constructing its compulsory license requirements in its copyright law;
South Africa adopted a more stringent patent protection than the TRIPS Agreement demands while
incorporated a safeguard clause to facilitate the use of essential drugs. Another good example of
employing TRIPS flexibilities is the patent law of India. Before the TRIPS Agreement was

protection and India consequentially became one of world s top generic drug producers. However,

Data mining Evolutionary algorithms for Multi objective Optimization problems: A study.
Data mining is the process of extracting the knowledge from the huge database available. The

The True Hero In Aldous Huxley s Brave New World
What is a hero? According to Google Dictionary a Hero is defined as follows: a person, typically
a man, who is admired or idealized for noble qualities, outstanding achievements, or courage. When
one thinks of the hero from Brave New World, by Aldous Huxley, Bernard or John are the
characters that come to mind. As the for front male protagonists of the novel, both demonstrating
some of the characteristics governed by a hero, they seem to be the most obvious choice. However,
the true hero of the novel is neither of these characters and is actually one who is deemed
insignificant by both society and the reader and is often overlooked. Linda s characteris in fact the

Marshall Curry s Street Fight
The documentary titled Street Fight, produced by Marshall Curry, follows a candidate for the
2002 election for mayor of Newark, New Jersey, Cory Booker and his opponent, Sharpe James.
Street Fight mainly unveils the power of politics and what holds power over politics itself.
However, the video also reveals several factors which influence and impact politics from the choices
of real people on the streets of Newark. Of these factors, the video focuses on the tactics in which
each candidate promotes themselves, their social background, and the authority they each hold.
In order to earn votes, each candidate constantly promotes and persuades the citizens that will vote
for them. Cory Booker takes his campaign literally door to door of the streets of Newark, greeting
homeowners, shop owners, and children, while giving small ... Show more content on

Street Fight shows how Cory Booker begins to establish his authority among the people in Newark
and how Sharpe James uses his authority as campaign strategies. For example, Cory Booker
takes to the streets and lives with the people he is fighting for and talking one on one while
playing fair and respecting those who disagree with his views. On the other hand, Sharpe James
used his power over the police force to threaten homeowners, shop owners, and anyone associating
with Booker to reduce Booker s influence. For instance, Booker s signs were forcibly taken down
without permission, some shop owners had their businesses forcibly shut down, and Sharpe James
had been spreading lies and false rumours about Booker further damaging and criticizing Booker s
reputation. Politics then revolves around power and authority (Wasserman 8). Such usage of these
two aspects in the 2002 political campaign demonstrates how politics can be approached in different

Reading Response Four
Title: Brick Lane
Director: Sarah Gavron
Brick Lane is an insightful film directed by Sarah Gavron based on the novel by Monica Ali. Set
in 21st century London, this film tells the story of Nazneen from Bangladesh whose life had
been decided for her from day one as she endures through arranged marriage, loan sharks and
affairs, trying to break free from her fated path. Gavron is also known for her work on This Little
Life and Village at the End of the World.

Right from the very beginning this theme is identified by a young Nazneen No one spoke of
our mother s death... and I remembered her saying: If Allah wanted us to ask questions, he
would have made us men. Here Nazneen points out that her whole life s potential, her right to
freedom, to even ask questions was determined by the 50/50 chance at being born male or
female or as religion would say, determined by god. Right from her birth, it was decided how she
would live, where she would live, and who she would live with through arranged marriage. At
age 17 she would be married to a man twice her age and live out the rest of her life in Brick Lane,
London. During the first part of the film we are introduced to a Nazneen who has accepted her
fate. We must not run from our fate. What cannot be changed must be borne. The test of life is to
endure. However the rest of the film is about challenging that mindset. We are introduced to
Nazneen s polar opposite sister living a free life and Nazneen fantasizing about her own freedom.
But of course the most important choice of freedom is the introduction of Karim, a handsome
young man who visits Nazneen occasionally to collect clothing to sell and eventually having an
affair. Here Nazneen is presented with the ultimate choice of free will, to follow her heart or what
has been prescribed for her already. In the westernised society we live in today I

Relationships, Group Cohesion, Team Norms, And Strength
Introduction:
Throughout organizational behaviors we learned a lot about developing relationships, group
cohesion, and team norms / values. On October 6 and November 17, we worked together in our
teams to complete different activates with different instructions. For our first challenge we had to
build a tower using objects that we put into a trash bag. We were judged on Beauty, Height, and
strength. We had a certain time frame to build our tours. On November 17 we were paired up with
a different team and instructed to build a bridge. Each team had to start from their own sides and
meet in the middle. The challenge was that only two team members from each side could talk to
each other and communicate about our ideas for constructing the bridge. ... Show more content on

randomly so I believe this made the task a little more challenging for each group.
I really liked this exercise because we had put our trust into the other group that we would build
the best bridge and try and win. The first category of trust (Appendix C) is how much confidence
you have you have in other s competence and abilities (Cohen et al, pg. 223) I had a past
relationship with Anh so it was easy for me to trust her because I know she is a very hard
worker and she always got her work don based on the past relationship. I also worked with some

done. The others team judgement was very sounds (Cohen et al, pg. 233) . They won the
previous contest so it was easy for us to trust that there judgement was good. My team trusted
Anh and her team because we all had a common goal of winning the bridge challenge. We were

A Woman s Prison By Henrik Ibsen Essay
A Woman s Prison
Ibsen s pla y, A Doll s House immediately encountered a spectrum of reactions ranging from strong
support to harsh criticism following its premier in 1879. Controversy came about over Nora s role
as an independent woman who makes her own decisions. The public s immediate response to Ibsen
s play reflects the shift occurring within society, centered on gender roles and women s place in the
mid to late 19th century. Ibsen s portrayal of women through Nora s role explores the ideas of
equality within marriage as well as women s individualism and their role within society.
Nora s character acts as a catalyst for Ibsen to portray women s standing as compared to their
male counterparts in different areas of society the home, marriage, workplace and in public
business. Through Ibsen s characterization of Nora, he explores these major themes of
controversy and pivotal change during the 1920 s. While Ibsen carefully refrains from
interjecting his own opinion, he successfully provides an accurate depiction of the power divide
in the household during the mid to late 19th century through his portrayal of Nora. Today s
marriages, known as a partnership between equals was once not regarded as equal at all. During
the 1920 s women held a rank below their husbands. Essentially, women were a pawn, leaving the
ownership of their father to be handed off to their husband. Nora explains the situation best stating:

Demand: The movement alongside a demand curve because of the only factor that is price. For

people will buy less hats. (Figure in hard copy) Change in Demand: The movement of Demand

The Industrial Revolution And The Public Health Revolution
Since our origin, worldwide human population has steadily been on the rise. We humans
emerged as a species about 200,000 years ago. In geological time, that is really incredibly recent.
Just 10,000 years ago, there were one million of us. By 1800, just over 200 years ago, there were
1 billion of us. By 1960, 50 years ago, there were 3 billion of us. There are now over 7 billion of
us. By 2050, your children, or your children s children, will be living on a planet with at least 9
billion other people. During some time towards the end of this century, there will be at least 10
billion of us. We got to where we are now through a number of civilization and society shaping
events , most notably the agricultural revolution, the scientific revolution, the industrial
revolution and in the West the public health revolution. By 1980, there were 4 billion of us on
the planet. Just 10 years later, in 1990, there were 5 billion of us. By this point initial signs of the
consequences of our growth were starting to show. Not the least of these was on water. Our
demand for water not just the water we drank but the water we needed for food production and to
make all the stuff we were consuming was going through the roof. But something was starting to
happen to water. There are now more than 7 billion of us on Earth. As our numbers continue to
grow, we continue to increase our need for far more water, far more food, far more land, far more
transport and far more

What Were The Effects Of Counterculture In The 1960 s
1. Those beautiful people
If it feels good, do it! Life is about being happy, not what others think you should be. This hippies
primary ideology was primitive, however the path leading to happiness was full of stones and
roots. Below we will investigate, who those awkward youngsters in the Sixties were, what they
thought and believed in, supported and rejected, destroyed and built up.
1.1 Who are Hippies?
Hippies were people mostly of young age, who generally refused to be a part of established
institution. They were individuals and expressed it vividly through their wild and free lifestyle.
Hippies wanted to replace a disappointedly materialistic, corrupted society, which their ancestors
and parents had built for them, with an Utopian society. They opposed any action of harming and
killing, often reflected by their vegetarian diet, eco friendly practices and particularly protesting
against nuclear weapons, Vietnam War, Civil Rights movement during 1960s. Hippies sought for a
meaning in life, some of them found it in Eastern philosophy (Buddhism, Yoga, meditation), some
found it in free love and sexual liberation, many found it by exploring consciousness through effects

Torres Strait Islanders Stereotypes

solving linear differential equations with variable coefficients. The solutions usually take the form
of power series; this explains the name Power series method. We review some special second order
ordinary differential equations. Power series Methodis described at ordinary points as well as at
singular points (which can be removed called Frobenius Method) of differential equations. We
present a few examples on this method by solving special second order ordinary differential
equations.
Key words ; Power series, differential equations, Frobenius Method, Lengendre polynomials
1.0 INTRODUCTION
1.1BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
The attempt to solve physical problems led gradually to Mathematical models involving an equation
in which a function and its derivatives play important role. However, the theoretical development of
this new branch of Mathematics Differential Equations has its origin rooted in a small number of
Mathematical problems. These problems and their solutions led to an independent discipline with
the solution of such equations an end in itself (Sasser, 2005).
1.2STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
The research work seeks to find solutions of second order ordinary differential equations using the
power series method.
1.3AIM AND OBJECTIVES
The aim and objectives of the study are to: Describe the power series method. Use it to solve linear
ordinary differential equations with

Sisters Of Mercy Thesis
The Sisters of Mercy were and are advocates for immigration in the same way as they are now as
it was back in the past. In the past, the Sisters of Mercy opened up a house that was made
intentionally to help out the poor people of the community. The house was also open to people
that needed help fitting into their community since some of them came from different places of
the country so they were not use to the new environment so the Sisters were there in order to
help them adjust. In today s society, the Sisters of Mercy changed their priorities a bit instead of
helping all of the poor people which they still do they have decided to focus more on the matter of
deportation and detention centers. I feel that the Sisters of Mercy are doing a... Show more content

They decided to open up a school in order to give them a fighting chance in society because
without an education one will not get very far. In today society the Sisters are still doing the
same thing by opening up the private home for immigrants it allows them to be able to go out
and get and education in English as a second language. I am glad to know that they have this
opportunity because by them being able to get English as a second language they are able to
communicate more with other people and thrive more in society because they are able to get a
work permit and start working for the time they are here. I plan to study biology pre health at
Saint Xavier University in order to be able to enter the health care system and be able to help out
the less fortunate. The Sisters have inspired me to pursue this career because it had made me
realize that a lot of immigrants in this society don t go to doctors for years since they do not
have insurance or a health plan so they are not able to afford the high prices of the medicine or
the checkups. I hope to open up my own clinic when I graduate from SXU in order to offer low
cost checkups for people that do not have any type of medical

The Importance Of Gross Motor Development
Motor skills involve movement of muscle in the body (John, 2009). These are larger
movements such as crawling, running, and jumping (John, 2009). Most of the gross motor
development occurs during childhood (John, 2009). Gross motor skills have two principals that
determent how a child will regularly develop (Center of diseases Control and Prevention, 2016).
Head to toe development this means the upper parts of the body will develop before the lower
parts of the body (John, 2009). Children develop these skills throughout play (John, 2009). A
tree year old Toddler can be very active therefore participating in activity that require movement,
coordination, and balance can be beneficial to help a toddler to develop their motor skills (Jan,
Beth Melissa, 2012). A 3 year old child can throw a ball but catching it is more difficult. They
start walking with good posture similar to an adult; they can also walk backwards (Jan, Beth
Melissa, 2012). A 3 year old can run which required strength and balance, during running they
should be able to rotate their trunk and swing their arms (John, 2009). By the age of 3 a child
walks up and down stairs alternating their feet without support which is possible because their
balance has increase (John, 2009). A 3 year old child also learns to jump from a step and learn to
jump forward (Center of diseases Control and Prevention, 2016). They start hopping at the age of 3
ВЅ and also can stand on one foot (Center of diseases Control and Prevention, 2016). Skipping
requires sequencing and rhythm which makes it more difficult this include step and hop patterns.
Fine Motor Fine motor skills are the movements made with the small muscle of the hand (Jan,
Beth Melissa, 2012). A 3 year old child gets better in their fine motor skill (Jan, Beth Melissa,
2012). They are able to move their fingers independently and have better spatial awareness;
therefore, these children can engage in more complex tasks such as using a scissor, the first
cutting skills start at the age of 3 (John, 2009). Children of this age should be able to unbutton a
shirt or eat with a fork without assistance (John, 2009). They can also complete and insert puzzle
pieces, picking up small objects with the thumb and

The Origins Of Sandwich Panels
2.Background and literature review Many books and articles provide systematic information
about a range of aspects of sandwich panels. Some studies has addressed creep behavior for one
or two typically used sandwich panels in construction industry. This part of the thesis will
provided background knowledge of sandwich panels, as well as developed equations based on
different theories about creep behavior of sandwich panels. Other specific aspects about creep in
sandwich panels will also be included, such as temperature influence in creep behavior. 2.1Origins
and development The origins of sandwich construction can be found in many book which
introduce these type of structure. Although Noor, Burton, and Bert (1849, cited in Vinson 1999)
state the basic concept of sandwich construction in 19th century, the sandwich construction is
relatively new concept and firstly be used in aerospace industry (Davies 2001). The development
of technology in sandwich construction is driven by special demand of the shell of spacecraft or
aircraft, which is light in weight yet strong enough to sustain huge air pressure in acceleration or
landing. A perfect example of this application is Apollo space ship, which successful landed on
the moon on 20 July 1969.The wall construction of Apollo capsule was made by two
interconnected sandwich shells, and each of them has a honeycomb core. Fig.5 Sandwich structure

James Crisp s Sleuthing The Alamo
All through history there has been a plentiful measure of occasions; some are substantial and ready
to change the course of history, while some are little and have minuscule influence in the
advancement of today s general public. At the point when initially brought into the subject of Texas

One of the disclosures was that Charlotte Churchill s interpretation precluded an extraordinary
measure of data of H. Ehrenberg s unique German content. For this specific interpretation it was
gone through altering, which brought about numerous erasures, to make it considerably more

Things that were included incorporated an individual assessment of youthful German solider,
which prior on in his enterprise was taken hostage by Mexicans and could escape demise. An

All through James Crisp s examination of the Sam Houston discourse, he doubts sources,

The Stem Field Is No Stranger For Advancement And Innovation
The STEM field is no stranger to advancement and innovation. In a thriving age of technology
and science, one could argue that the United States (and many countries throughout the world)
have progressed a long way from the outdated technologies that were used in past decades. Yet,
despite the vast progress made in the stem fields, the demographics of STEM workers are still
highly outdated with its lack of racial and gender diversity. As a result of the growing number of
jobs in STEM, organizations such as Black Girls Code are making steps to prepare minorities for
these careers.
The founder of Black Girls Code, Kimberly Bryant, experienced what she calls cultural isolation
during her collegiate years and throughout her career as an electrical engineer. Bryant recalls seeing
very few faces like her own and felt that there was a void in the STEM field that needed to be filled
by the presence of black women. Bryant acknowledges that the lack of black females in STEM is
not due to a lack of interest in the sciences, but is instead due to a lack of resources and lack of
exposure provided to black girls during early education. She set out to meet this need and, thus,
Black Girls Code was created.
Black Girls Code is an organization focused on increasing the number of black girls in the STEM
field. They do so by training black girls, ages 7 to 17, in the field of computer science, also known
as coding. By launching Black Girls Code, stated Bryant, I hope to provide young and

what hope can I gather from your fellow creatures, who owe me nothing? (103) He was not just

Voices From A Culture Summary
While reading п»їп»їп»їDeaf in Americaп»їп»ї: Voices From A Culture п»
їп»їп»їп»їп»їп»їп»їI
notice the purpose of this book was to wrote about Deaf people in a new and different way. The
book main focus is that Deafп»ї people have a condition that they can t hear. The culture of Deaf
people is what both authors want to begin yo betray. What I found interesting while reading is that
the majority of indidivauls within the community of Deaf people do not join it at birth. While
reading these chapters I ve seen both auhtors try to present the culture from the inside to discover
how Deaf people describe themselves and how they think about their lives.
In chapter 1, two Deaf sisters Helen and Vicki were interviwed by Carol. Their interview stood out
to be the most in the chapter because it showed children spend their time learning what things are
supposed to mean. As Carol interviewed the two Deaf sisters and they both argued about Michael
being deaf or hearing it made me question why they both had a different answer if their both deaf.
Also when Vicki mentioned Michael being Deaf and hearing I noticed you can;t be Deaf and
hearing. I also noticed that children are often wrong for the most intertesting reasons and right for
reasons we never expect. This was interesting because when Vicki reaches her older sister age she

Police Brutality And The Police
For the past couple years there has been so many incidents involving some sort of police
brutality. The mainstream media has shown police misconduct, case after case it has become a
routine and making people wonder if our officers of the law really doing their jobs? Unjustified
shooting, and fatal choking s have all contributed to the problem of police brutality in America
and also has become very controversial. The police carry an enormous burden each day, which
makes their job really hard. Police work is very stressful and involves violent, and split second
decision. Nevertheless, cases like the shooting of Samuel DuBose, and Walter Scott and the
choking of Eric Garner has raised questions regarding our police system. In many confrontations
the police are put in a position in which they have to use force to control the situation, but there
are different levels of force and most of the time the situation dictates the level of force that s
necessary. In addition, I will explain different cases of police brutality, the use of excessive force,
and the consequences the officers have faced. While many disagree with the rough treatment by
police, others argue that the police are well trained to use force and that they should be tough on
crime and apprehend criminals. Statistics have illustrated this very well due to modern
technology; vital videos of police brutality have brought the real issue to the surface. The use of
excessive force is a criminal act. However, Bill Maher

Compare And Contrast Grass Dancing And Fancy Shawl Dancing
Both grass dancing and fancy shawl dancing can be seen at Native American powwows throughout
the United States. The dancer moves to the consistent pulse of the drum, touching their foot to the
ground with each drum beat. Shawl dancing and grass dancing require a fair amount of skill and
practice, as they can be complex and very energetic dances in which one has to move quickly yet
smoothly around the arena.
The grass dance and fancy shawl dance have contrast in their origins. Grass dancing is thought to
have originated in the Plains tribes when the elders ordered the young men to stomp down the tall
grasses in preparation for meetings, camps, powwows, or other ceremonies. Some tribes believe
that God created the grass dance to represent a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Grass dancers typically wear base attire with fringe made of yarn, broadcloth, or ribbon
throughout the regalia. In addition, they wear an H harness, which is a set of 2 long suspenders
that hang to below the knees. Cuffs, a headband, a belt, and side tabs are also common. There
are fewer feathers involved in grass dance regalia than men s traditional regalia. Usually only a
roach feather with 1 2 feathers or 2 fluff antennae with be perched atop the dancer s head. As the
grass dancer circles the arena, he may hold feathers, dream catchers, hoops, or dance sticks.
Fancy shawl dancers wear a dress or a skirt, often times with a vest or yoke over their head. Some
dancers may wear belts, beaded hairpieces, chokers, earrings, bracelets, and eagle plumes.
Moccasins are the common footwear, while leggings cover the calves of the legs. The shawl is
obviously the most significant part of the dancer s regalia because as an extension of the arms, it
assists in depicting the dancer s story . Long ribbons or fringes drop from the bottom of the shawl
almost to the ground. Many shawls are also decorated with gorgeous embroidery or ribbon work to
illustrate the dancer s

Terrestrial Ecology Lab
Terrestrial Ecology
Introduction
We know that light is an important part of both terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems. In a forest
system both the canopy and the understory absorb light. The type of forest and leaf cover present
determines the amount of light that reaches the understory. This can be measured using the LAI
(Leaf Area Index), which is the amount of leaves per unit ground area. Light quantity in forests is
affected by several factors such as tree species, age, and density.
Looking at the amount of light that can penetrate to the understory also shows how much moisture
can reach that level. The amount of light and moisture that reaches the forest floor determines how
much biomass will be present in this layer. The goal of

  • 3. The Importance Of Social Disconnection And Alienation Our society should be aware of social disconnection and alienation due to the increase of technological advances. How do technological advances lead to disconnection and alienation? People can feel disconnected from reality, from themselves, or from other people. They physically alienate themselves willingly by withdrawing from a source that can be a cause of pain or discomfort; such as bullying, disagreements, past relations, family or work issues. Maria Furukawa states that Advancements, particularly in handheld devices, such as smartphones, iPads, and smart watches, have made our lives more efficient by making everything we need accessible at the tap of a screen or a swipe to the left. Essentially, technology has taken the hard work of talking to someone in person, of physically reading a book and of using our minds to do some mental math and replaced it with a device. I have noticed that technology, ironically, disconnects us from living in the present moment. Even though we try our hardest to communicate what we mean over text, there is still a possibility for miscommunication or misinterpretation of what was written. If instead, a conversation was held in person, facial expressions, changes in tone, and hand gestures are some ways that miscommunication can be avoided. (Furukawa 2017) People can create a virtual world by using these devices with the increase of screen time and internet usage. They are subjected to advertisements, unrealistic standards, online bullying and constant access to negative information. In this virtual world, there are numerous sites for social networking. In this case, people do not need to physically interact with one another and can espouse any persona to their present need. Dwight G. Dean, in his article, explains that The concept of Alienation is considered here as having three major components: Powerlessness, Normlessness, and Social Isolation. (Dean 1961) Humans by nature need interaction with other humans. It s a biological necessity. Hawkley states that As a social species, humans rely on a safe, secure social surround to survive and thrive. Perceptions of social isolation, or loneliness, increase vigilance for threat and heighten feelings of vulnerability ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. An Analysis Of To His Coy Mistress By Andrew Marvell In the poem, To His Coy Mistress, by Andrew Marvell, The narrator is writing a letter to a woman he is courting, which the storyteller feels that life is short and this woman needs to stop showing mixed feelings towards him, to know her true feelings. The narrator is convinced that there is not enough time for this woman to be shy, regarding her feelings to him, in addition to, his opinion of believing that he is the best man for her, but if this woman does not feel the same way, then let the narrator live his life and to not make him wait for a decision from her. The message of this poem that is conveyed by the author, life is too short to wait on someone else s decision of whether a person feels the same way, or if they are being timid about how they feel about someone. One of the main points made by Marvell, is that life is too short for this lady to mull over whether she likes the author or does not want to pursue anything other than friendship, instead of what the author wants, love and marriage. In this excerpt from the poem by Marvell is stating that he feels that there will not be enough time before this woman decides how she feels about the narrator. But at my back I always hear /Time s wingГЁd chariot hurrying near; And yonder all before us lie /Deserts of vast eternity, (21 24). Secondly, the author is convinced that his love will be the best for this woman that he is courting. Marvell feels that his love is perfect for this woman, as evidenced in ... In 1949, Chairman Mao boarded the gate tower of Tiananmen and then announced to the world in his native mandarin that new China was founded after the Chinese people won a peaceful and stable country after decades of fighting. In the meantime, we have the awakening of our own consciousness and the struggle between different ideologies of traditional culture. The martyr s resistance with all cost is to live with dignity and for the sake of their posterity. It is a very proud thing that we can stand on our own land and strive for ourselves. Over the past 100 years, Tiananmen square has been reshaped, reshaped and expanded. It reflects the political changes of a country. In the beginning of the history, Tiananmen, which primitive name is ChengTian Gate, was not only the main gate of the Qing and Ming dynasties, but also the important place for the great celebrations and the national decree, and the majesty of the emperor. On February 12, 1912, on the tiananmen gate, the emperor announced his decision to abdicate. In May 1914, Beiyang government launched a plan to transform the old capital city. The first steps was to remove thousand steps corridor so that tiananmen square could turn the enclosed palace square into an open space for freedom of passage and sojourn. The original majesty and mysterious imperial power were dissolved. Few years later, because of dissatisfaction with the Beiyang government at the end of the first world war diplomatic failure on the Paris peace conference , on May 4, 1919, thousands of students gathered near Tiananmen square, took out the slogan for sovereign externally to punish kleptocratic , to force the government to respond. • 7. Meursault And Raskolnikov How can the way a character acts or treats other people push the plot of a book forward? Fyodor Dostoevsky s novel Crime and Punishment and Albert Camus novella The Stranger both feature main characters guilty of committing murder; however, the the two main characters, Meursault and Raskolnikov, act very differently and so their fates end up very different. The main character of the The Stranger is a man simply called Monsieur Mersault. Camus presents Meursault as an honest person. This doesn t necessarily work in his favor, as he tells people repeatedly that things don t matter. He is very emotionally detached from everyone and everything. He does not even cry when his own motherdies, and he does not lovethe woman who is supposed to be his love interest. Meursault... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Meursault, true to his characterization, doesn t really react. He feels no guilt because he does not feel like anything matters. The murder he committed was just another thing that happened. He is caught and put on trial for his crimes. The prosecutor uses his indifference toward the death of his mother and everything else to get him convicted. Even after his conviction, he doesn t show any emotion. Raskolnikov, however, immediately becomes paranoid about what he has done and thinks that everyone knows. He falls ill after his crime and the people around him start to believe he has gone insane. This leads people to suspect him of committing the crime. Perhaps had he not acted the way he did, no one would suspect of the crime. Despite actually having feelings after his crime, Raskolnikov also feels no guilt for killing the old woman because of his philosophy about extraordinary men. He simply dislikes the fact that he wasn t successful and therefore not an extraordinary man. I know what you re thinking, how can someone be locked up for being vertically challenged? Well the truth is it wasn t your usual arrest, then court, then jail procedures, in fact there was no police involved at all. If there were then maybe they would have seen how someone of my status, my four foot seven pimple faced, bracer faced, glasses face status could not even attempt anything as badass and remotely worthy of being locked up. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Halfway through every year we are expected to go on an excursion. This year s excursion was to Mangalo Prison. Mangalo prison was famous in our town as people believed criminals left there evil spirits behind in there, that and the fact it was nearly a hundred years old was the only reason why it still existed. Finding a seat on the school bus was like a hierarchy, you know, popular people at the back, nerds at the front and then there s the loser who sits next to the bus driver. I didn t mind sitting next to the bus driver, I suppose after seven years you get to know the guy. It was a lot easier to talk to Steve that trip because unlike the usual chaotic yelling, everyone was listening to Jimmy Dunning s Mangalo Prison ghost stories. As much as I disliked Jimmy and his strange desire to flush my head down toilets, his stories were actually terrifying. The town of Mangalo was like those deserted towns you see in movies where the only thing moving is a tumble weed. It wasn t hard to spot the jail as the houses were the size of tents. We were escorted through the jail by a rugged looking man who looked as though he once called the place home. Once the tour was over we were free to explore and wonder the jail ourselves. • 9. Lab Report On The Lab 1. Accurately records experimental procedures. I think this objective means that we need to make sure we understand the procedure or steps for the lab. Knowing the steps for the lab is extremely important because especially in chemistry if something is done out of order it can be dangerous. So recording the procedure in our lab book is important. This relates to my major of Political Science in that in Political Science, recording down things accurately is very important and if something isn t recorded accurately it could be dangerous like in chemistry lab. In my lab report for the Density Lab I recorded the steps to the lab. The objective of that lab was to find out what procedure was preferable for finding density. This made it very important to makes sure the experimental procedure was recorded accurately. 2. Accurately records data, observations, and results. This objective means to record what we observe and calculate during the experiment as accurately as possible, most errors that occur in an experiment are due to mistakes when recording data, observations and results. This relates to my major of Political Science because there is a lot of things one has to record data on based on observations, and the results of a political science experiment are important because it can change how the world is looked at, if the data or observations are wrong people are getting inaccurate information. Comparison Of Twenty Pink Questions And Rabbit-Proof Fence The two Australian texts, a short story published in 2006 titled Twenty Pink Questions by Fabienne Bayet Charlton and the 2002 film Rabbit Proof Fence directed by Philip Noyce, both explore the idea of the injustice of forced child abduction. Twenty Pink Questions, details an insightful conversation between an Aboriginal mother and her child who repeatedly ask questions about the history of the Stolen Generation in order to understand her personal story. In comparison, Rabbit proof fence depicts the lives of three Aboriginal girls who were removed from their families and placed in the Moore River Native Settlement in 1931, whilst exploring the unjust policy enforced by the Australian government during that time period that led to the mistreatment of Aboriginal people. • 11. The God s Script Short Story The God s Script, by Jorge Luis Borges, is representing the structure of knowledge through a dream of TzinacГЎn, the central character, and the narrative presence of the jaguar. Borges wrote the short story to describe TzinacГЎn s dream of the god s script, a language that would help him fulfill his destiny while he is imprisoned: his destiny is to be able to die in peace. TzinacГЎn is a magician of the pyramid of Qaholom. He can survive torture in silence; he will never lose hope. He knows he will not see daylight again besides the split second of light through the openings. However, TzinacГЎn s gods also give him hope for his destiny in prison. One of his gods is represented as the pyramid of Qaholom, that is burned and demolished. As he said, They struck down the idol of the god before my very eyes, but he did not abandon me and I endured the torments in silence (169). When he talks about the pyramid, he seems like he is more pleased that his gods are here with him instead of completely disappearing. He clearly stated that they are not abandoning him; even though he is being tortured, they do not leave his side. The impressions of the things that are happening to him are like the things that happen to his gods. TzinacГЎn senses that the things he thinks about represent furthering his knowledge, getting him closer to knowing his god s script. He knows of the script, but wants more structured knowledge of and the whereabouts of the script. As he stated, The fact that a prison confined me did not forbid my hope; perhaps I had seen the script of Qaholom a thousand times and needed only to fathom it (170). He reflects that it is only right that the gods are leaving access to the script to him to have as part his destiny. From the tone of the story, the knowledge he has of his gods ... • 12. Charles Darwin Observation Observation: Viewing Nature through an Artistic Lens While visual art has played an important role in many sciences, it was integral to the development and acceptance of the theory of evolution, as it enabled Charles Darwin to more clearly express his theories to the general public and other scientists alike. Darwin displayed a sharp eye for visual differences, (Donald, 5) which is the quality that truly set the visionary apart from other scientists and the careful observation that allowed him to develop his theories of evolution. Alexander von Humboldt also exemplified this trait in his journeys that laid the framework for scientific observation. Haeckel aimed to forge a personal connection to nature not dissimilar to the connection Humboldt wished to instill. Though his father wished him to become a doctor, Haeckel loathed medicine and pursued a passion for zoology, with a specific interest in aquatic invertebrates. Upon hearing of his hero Humboldt s death, Haeckel began to embrace more of a bohemian lifestyle, and began to paint more frequently and engage less in scientific experimentation (Wulf, 303). Haeckel realized he would have to take up a position as a professor if he was to marry the woman he loved, Anna. When he began analyzing specimens through his microscope again, he viewed them from the perspective of not only a scientist but also an artist, and was mesmerized by the invertebrates that looked like delicate works of art (Wulf, 304). His observation through a microscope led to his discovery of radiolarians, single celled aquataic invertebrates that have very impressive designs and patterns. Much like Darwin and Humboldt, Haeckel displayed incredible powers of observation as well as extraordinary skill in portraying his observations through masterful sketches and paintings. Haeckel could observe specimens with one eye down the microscope and one eye on his drawing board at the same time (Wulf, 304), allowing him to perfectly translate what he was seeing through his microscope into drawing. [While] people in the middle quintile pay 25%. [And] the poorest fifth pays 13% (Barro). And yet some politicians, like Donald Trump, think the solution to resolving our country s debt is by taxing the top percent more. In reality, the United Statesshould have a flat taxrate due to the fact that it is the fairest plan and the hard work pertained by the top percent should be valued. The way flat tax rate works is that everyone gets taxed the same percentage regardless of their income. For example, lets say a poor man makes $50,000 yearly , while a rich man... Why should you make high income citizens pay for things that everyone is using. We should all put in the same amount of money that goes into these projects, since after all there for everyones use. Why would you penalize people that worked hard for their money when everyone else had the opportunity to do so. • 14. Function Of Humorists In Status Anxiety By Latins Anony A few people may have the audacity to say that the United States presidential election of 2016 was a buffoonery. From email scandals to the usage of vulgar language, it can be said for certain that the nation was divided up between two political extremes. However, despite the controversy within the nation, we saw the rise of a band of citizens speak freely about their beliefs, humorists. In Alain de Botton s 2004 book, Status Anxiety, he challenges the notion about the function of humorists in society. Substantially, he claims that humorists do not simply entertain others, but in addition, to convey with impunity messages that might be dangerous or impossible to state directly. The author believes this due to the fact humorists are granted... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Rarely heard of, one unique, humorous speech named the La La Awards by Latins Anonymous tackles a genuine issue in the world. It is a satirical monologue about an emcee rejecting their heritage, in this case a Latino heritage, by impersonating white prominent figures in culture at an awards show. At the end of the monologue, the emcee professes their genuine identity, a proud bilingual individual with a Latino background. Aside its humorous content, it teaches society a valuable lesson. It encourages culture to embrace their shared humanity, one of countless struggles humans fear to do. How do we know if this would actually occur? We are compelled by those who we look up to or make a sacrifice for the greater good. Consequently, humorists do not merely entertain, but educate society in a humanistic perspective. While some may argue that humorists may serve a pointless purpose in the community, it is apparent they play a factor in the world. Humorists consist of cartoonists, stand up comics, satirical writers, and hosts of television programs, all of which are actual jobs. Stating they just make people laugh discourages their self esteem, ultimately affecting society because they are influentially deprived. Thereby, humorists should not be viewed as incompetent because they speak openly for a multitude of people, and impact them in solicitous ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These adjustments utilize the so called TRIPS flexibilities embodied in the TRIPS Agreement (The Agreement on Trade Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights), as Annex 1C of the Marrakesh Agreement establishing the World Trade Organization (hereinafter the WTO) which came into effect in January, 1995. A Woman s Prison By Henrik Ibsen Essay A Woman s Prison Ibsen s pla y, A Doll s House immediately encountered a spectrum of reactions ranging from strong support to harsh criticism following its premier in 1879. Controversy came about over Nora s role as an independent woman who makes her own decisions. The public s immediate response to Ibsen s play reflects the shift occurring within society, centered on gender roles and women s place in the mid to late 19th century. Ibsen s portrayal of women through Nora s role explores the ideas of equality within marriage as well as women s individualism and their role within society. Nora s character acts as a catalyst for Ibsen to portray women s standing as compared to their male counterparts in different areas of society the home, marriage, workplace and in public business. Through Ibsen s characterization of Nora, he explores these major themes of controversy and pivotal change during the 1920 s. While Ibsen carefully refrains from interjecting his own opinion, he successfully provides an accurate depiction of the power divide in the household during the mid to late 19th century through his portrayal of Nora. Today s marriages, known as a partnership between equals was once not regarded as equal at all. During the 1920 s women held a rank below their husbands. Essentially, women were a pawn, leaving the ownership of their father to be handed off to their husband. Nora explains the situation best stating: I was simply transferred from Papa s hands to yours. • 34. Questions On Demand And Demand QUESTION 1 Explain, with the use of demand and supply diagram(s), the difference between a change in quantity demanded of hats and a change in demand for hats. The difference between a change in Quantity demand and demand for hats are explained below: Change in Quantity Demand: The movement alongside a demand curve because of the only factor that is price. For example: If the price of Hat is $5 people will buy 20 hats, if the price of hats increased by 10% people will buy less hats. (Figure in hard copy) Change in Demand: The movement of Demand curve because of other factor not by the price i.e. buyers, tastes, income and expectations of buyers, preferences. (Figure in hard copy) So, the difference between Change in demand cure and change is demand Change In quantity demand is related with the change of price whereas change in demand is not about the price it is about other factor Such as: buyers, tastes, income and expectations of buyers, preferences. QUESTION 2 Explain, with the use of demand and supply diagrams, the effect of the following events on the market for solar panels: (a)If the price of solar panels is below the market equilibrium price. (b)The price of electricity for an average household has increased by 50 percent. (c)New technology has increased the productivity of solar panel producers. Other times I am trying to save the world with everyone else in a cooperative game. Playing board games started with my family, and I have played ever since. I was in the chess club in elementary school. That started my love for strategies and thinking ahead. I was challenged, and even stayed after school for it; I am thankful that I was a part of the club. Also, I would bring in games to play on fun Fridays in elementary school. • 36. The Industrial Revolution And The Public Health Revolution Since our origin, worldwide human population has steadily been on the rise. We humans emerged as a species about 200,000 years ago. In geological time, that is really incredibly recent. Just 10,000 years ago, there were one million of us. By 1800, just over 200 years ago, there were 1 billion of us. By 1960, 50 years ago, there were 3 billion of us. There are now over 7 billion of us. By 2050, your children, or your children s children, will be living on a planet with at least 9 billion other people. During some time towards the end of this century, there will be at least 10 billion of us. We got to where we are now through a number of civilization and society shaping events , most notably the agricultural revolution, the scientific revolution, the industrial revolution and in the West the public health revolution. By 1980, there were 4 billion of us on the planet. Just 10 years later, in 1990, there were 5 billion of us. By this point initial signs of the consequences of our growth were starting to show. Not the least of these was on water. Our demand for water not just the water we drank but the water we needed for food production and to make all the stuff we were consuming was going through the roof. But something was starting to happen to water. There are now more than 7 billion of us on Earth. This hippies primary ideology was primitive, however the path leading to happiness was full of stones and roots. Below we will investigate, who those awkward youngsters in the Sixties were, what they thought and believed in, supported and rejected, destroyed and built up. 1.1 Who are Hippies? Hippies were people mostly of young age, who generally refused to be a part of established institution. They were individuals and expressed it vividly through their wild and free lifestyle. Hippies wanted to replace a disappointedly materialistic, corrupted society, which their ancestors and parents had built for them, with an Utopian society. They opposed any action of harming and killing, often reflected by their vegetarian diet, eco friendly practices and particularly protesting against nuclear weapons, Vietnam War, Civil Rights movement during 1960s. Power Series Method For Solving Linear Differential Equations ABSTRACT In this work, we studied that Power Series Method is the standard basic method for solving linear differential equations with variable coefficients. The solutions usually take the form of power series; this explains the name Power series method. We review some special second order ordinary differential equations. Power series Methodis described at ordinary points as well as at singular points (which can be removed called Frobenius Method) of differential equations. We present a few examples on this method by solving special second order ordinary differential equations. Key words ; Power series, differential equations, Frobenius Method, Lengendre polynomials 1.0 INTRODUCTION 1.1BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY The attempt to solve physical problems led gradually to Mathematical models involving an equation in which a function and its derivatives play important role. However, the theoretical development of this new branch of Mathematics Differential Equations has its origin rooted in a small number of Mathematical problems. These problems and their solutions led to an independent discipline with the solution of such equations an end in itself (Sasser, 2005). 1.2STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM The research work seeks to find solutions of second order ordinary differential equations using the power series method. 1.3AIM AND OBJECTIVES The aim and objectives of the study are to: Describe the power series method. Most of the gross motor development occurs during childhood (John, 2009). Gross motor skills have two principals that determent how a child will regularly develop (Center of diseases Control and Prevention, 2016). Head to toe development this means the upper parts of the body will develop before the lower parts of the body (John, 2009). Children develop these skills throughout play (John, 2009). A tree year old Toddler can be very active therefore participating in activity that require movement, coordination, and balance can be beneficial to help a toddler to develop their motor skills (Jan, Beth Melissa, 2012). A 3 year old child can throw a ball but catching it is more difficult. They start walking with good posture similar to an adult; they can also walk backwards (Jan, Beth Melissa, 2012). A 3 year old can run which required strength and balance, during running they should be able to rotate their trunk and swing their arms (John, 2009). By the age of 3 a child walks up and down stairs alternating their feet without support which is possible because their balance has increase (John, 2009). A 3 year old child also learns to jump from a step and learn to jump forward (Center of diseases Control and Prevention, 2016). They start hopping at the age of 3 ВЅ and also can stand on one foot (Center of diseases Control and Prevention, 2016). Skipping requires sequencing and rhythm which makes it more difficult this include step and hop patterns. Fine Motor Fine motor skills are the movements made with the small muscle of the hand (Jan, Beth Melissa, 2012). A 3 year old child gets better in their fine motor skill (Jan, Beth Melissa, 2012). They are able to move their fingers independently and have better spatial awareness; therefore, these children can engage in more complex tasks such as using a scissor, the first cutting skills start at the age of 3 (John, 2009). • 45. The Stem Field Is No Stranger For Advancement And Innovation The STEM field is no stranger to advancement and innovation. In a thriving age of technology and science, one could argue that the United States (and many countries throughout the world) have progressed a long way from the outdated technologies that were used in past decades. Yet, despite the vast progress made in the stem fields, the demographics of STEM workers are still highly outdated with its lack of racial and gender diversity. As a result of the growing number of jobs in STEM, organizations such as Black Girls Code are making steps to prepare minorities for these careers. The founder of Black Girls Code, Kimberly Bryant, experienced what she calls cultural isolation during her collegiate years and throughout her career as an electrical engineer. Bryant recalls seeing very few faces like her own and felt that there was a void in the STEM field that needed to be filled by the presence of black women. Bryant acknowledges that the lack of black females in STEM is not due to a lack of interest in the sciences, but is instead due to a lack of resources and lack of exposure provided to black girls during early education. She set out to meet this need and, thus, Black Girls Code was created. Black Girls Code is an organization focused on increasing the number of black girls in the STEM field. They do so by training black girls, ages 7 to 17, in the field of computer science, also known as coding. By launching Black Girls Code, stated Bryant, I hope to provide young and ...
