Brain Acquired Brain Injury
The brain is vital to the functioning of every human being. After studying the brain for a whole
semester, it made me realize how important it is to keep the brain health and protected. God made
human being very complex, and trying to understand how each organ relates to each other has been a
challenge for anyone in the medical field. Each year, new techniques are discovered as to what, where
and how the human brain operates. There are discoveries made in the medical field everyday that were
not known before. The brain is the part of the central nervous system that encompasses the cranium
that consist of the forebrain (prosencephalon), the midbrain (mesencephalon) and the hindbrain
(rhombencephalon). If the brain is damage due to an acquired brain injury, it can ... Show more

The brain is a mass of soft, spongy, pinkish gray nerve tissue that is estimated to weigh about 2.65
pounds or 1.2 kg in an adult human being. (Farlex, 2018) Billions of nerve cells are what the brain is
made of, each being intricately connected to one another. The connection to the body is by way of the
spinal cord which is also a part of the central nervous system. The brain comprises the nerve centers,
which control many involuntary functions, such as circulation, temperature regulation, and respiration,
and interpret sensory impressions received from the eyes, ears, and other sense organs. (Farlex, 2018)
It also includes consciousness, emotion, thought, and reasoning, and the area for associative memory
which allows the individual to recall past events. The cerebrum is an outer coating or medically called
the cerebral cortex. This consists of gray matter that is several layers deep and is the largest portion of
the brain, receiving information on the conscious movement of the body. The temporal lobe is a center

Difference Between Depression And Women Essay
More over the second hypothesis was that the mean difference in depression for men differed from the
mean difference in depression for women because according to Silverstein et al. (2013), women were
33% more likely than men to have pure depression and over 50% more likely to have somatic
depression. Finally, the third and last hypothesis was that the mean difference in self esteem for men
differed from the mean difference in self esteem for women because according to Sprecher, Brooks,
and Avogo, (2013), in a study among Blacks, Hispanics, Whites, and Asians, men had higher self
esteem than women across all races with the exception of black females who s self esteem did not
significantly differ from black men. Method Participants The current study consisted of a total of 80
undergraduate students who were recruited from the University of California Riverside. Consequently,
the ages of the participants ranged from 18 25 years of age with the average age being 21 years of old.
Furthermore, the sample was comprised of 60 females of the total 80 participants. Over all, the
majority of the sample consisted of 34 Hispanic students, including Mexican American, Central
American, and others. Next, 20 of the participants in the sample were Asian or Asian American
including Chinese, Japanese, and others. Moreover, the third biggest group of participants identified as
White Caucasian, Anglo European American, not Hispanic students who made up a total of 9
participants from the sample.

Women During The Wild West
During the late 19th and early 20th century, the Wild West was a harsh yet extraordinary era
specifically on women. These women had to cope with bad living conditions, making them constantly
fight for their survival. The roles women took on we re extremely powerful and brave considering the
fact that obstacles were constantly thrown at them. Although women have always had to fight against
society since the beginning of time this era stands out due to the abnormal freedom they received.
Their freedom yet horrific fear, was given by the lack of laws during this time. Weapons were very
common, taking on a big role in society as a whole. Many women played big roles during this era.

Luther Standing Bear, A Native American Author,...
Luther Standing Bear was a Native American author, philosopher and actor. Luther Standing Bear was
a master at using rhetoric, because with it, he benefits not only his people, but also the human identity.
Luther Standing Bear contributed all of his efforts to get the Native Americans a place in a world that
was no longer theirs. Luther Standing Bear is a pioneer in what would eventually become a movement
for Civil Rights. The ideas that he was using did not involve insults but rather, pointed out views that
others hadn t seen or thought of before. Instead of using hatred and insults, he used his wisdom and his
life experiences to express his views on the world, and why big changes had to be executed
immediately. Standing Bear uses the opportune moment in the early 20th century, while civil rights
was at its infancy to persuade the white man that the Indian was no different than he was. Luther
Standing bear was born in 1868, on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. Luther Standing
Bear s real name was Ota K te (Plenty Kill). For the first eleven years of his life, Standing Bear was
taught the traditional ways of the Lakota. This meant that he learned how to hunt at a young age; he
also learned the tales and the language of his people. Being taught the ways of the Lakota, Standing
Bear would soon be introduced to world that made it impossible for the Indian to survive. This was
because at the time Native Americans were not given the same opportunities as an average

Essay about Impact of a Stock Split on a Financial Statement
Stocks play a significant part in our economy. For many investors, stock splits seem to be too great of
deal. Everyone loves a good deal. It is a Buy One Get One stock or more for free deal for the
investors. Stocks can split into any ratios, but the most common ratio is 2 for 1, 3 for 1, and 3 for 2.
Splits of 4 for 3, 5 for 2, and 5 for 4 have been offered to the investors in the past. Recently, Apple
(AAPL) surprised content investors by declaring a massive 1 for 7 stock split and announcing a big
second quarter earnings. Apple has split stocks four times since trading publicly. Apple s common
stock split on a 2 for 1 basis on May 15, 1987, on June 21, 2000 and again on February 18, 2005
(Apple, 2014).
The stock split is simple. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For Apple, the 7 for 1 split will bring their share price from around $565 per share to approximately
$80 per share. Apple will attract more investors at the $80 per share than the $565 per share. The
impact by the price split to these investors is purely psychological. The actual value of stock does not
change, but the lower stock price may impact on the way the stock is perceived and entice new
investors to open up their wallets. Second, many investors believe that splits are beneficial to their
portfolios. They may think that the $5 per share, half price stock after the split, may increase to its
original price of $10. This is not the case for the stock split. Although the numbers of shares may have
tripled or quadrupled, now that each stock represents half of the equity in a corporation that it did
before the split. This means that each share is authorized to half the earnings, half the dividend, and
half of the assets that it did before the split. When stocks are trading rapidly by demands of

Reasons For Going Hybrid Cars
8 Reasons to Go Hybrid 8 Reasons to Go Hybrid Sales of hybrid vehicles in the United States have
jumped from a curiosity of 17 sales in 1999 to 470,383 in 2014.[1] The annual growth rate of the
hybrid market has advanced across all makes and models and includes luxury vehicles, family sedans
and economy vehicles. Hybrid car owners can save hundreds of dollars on fuel costs, get maintenance
costs that are comparable to gas powered vehicles by spreading them over the life of the cars, enjoy
tax incentives and driving perks and find hybrid vehicles in attractive models from their favorite
manufacturers.[2] Hybrid Technology Becomes Increasingly Common This article will explore some
of the benefits of going hybrid, which include getting lower fuel costs, driving greener, cutting noise
pollution and reducing dependency on foreign oil. Increased hybrid options include affordable and
indulgent Hondas, Subarus, Acuras and many other models for single drivers, families and business
transportation. Benefits of going hybrid include but aren t limited to the following advantages: 1.
Increased Fuel Efficiency The Toyota Prius leads the market in hybrid fuel efficiency, according to

The Theme Of Blindness In Oedipus The King
Blindness in Oedipus The King
After reading the play it is clear that there are few different themes, though the one which will be
discussed in this essay is the theme of blindness. Blindness appears in all people; because there is not
anyone who can predict his/her future or fate, even if they have the ability to see . they tend avoid
seeing the truth or trying to understand it clearly and perfectly with a way which the fate had choosen
for them, this state can supported with a famous quote; A blind man knows he cannot see and he that is
blind in his understanding, which is the worst blindness of all, believes he sees as the best, and scorns
a guide . Throughout the story Oedipus is blind by his inability to understand that the prophecy ...

Actually figurative blindness can be harder to deal with then literal blindness. A person who is
physically blind knows that he will probably be blind the rest of his life. He is aware of the fact that he
cannot see the visual things, he accept this condition and learns to live with that. However, if a person
is blind to a situation, there is nothing that person can do until they figure out the truth because they
are do not even have the awareness of their disability. It creates more complex problems in real life
which can not be solved easily or maybe totally can not be solved just like it can not in the story. All
of them find a way out accordingly. Oedipus learned the truth, his way of dealing with his figurative
blindness was to blind himself. When Jocasta learned the truth, her way of dealing with her figurative
blindness was to kill herself. In this play, in every situation, blindness led to the truth, and the truh led
to the blindness. Oedipus, Teiresias, and Jocasta were all blind, yet all found the truth. Sophocles real
aim was to show this contrast between blindness and the truth but also proved that they can both turn
into each

Gran Torino Diversity
After going over the movie selection, I decided to watch the movie Gran Torino (2008). This movie
gives its viewers a look at how different people from different cultural backgrounds can have a strong
influence on others. Walt Kowalski, an old white American man, who is stuck in his ways and does
not take kindly to other races or ethnic groups, but is eventually impacted by Thao and Sue who come
from the Hmong ethnicity group. The main diversity issue that takes place within Gran Torino is
ethnicity, which in this case there are two drastically different ethnic groups that were influenced by
each other (2008). Along with ethnicity, multiple other issue of diversity that took place in the movie
such as race, poverty, and religion. Ethnicity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

just keep them off his lawn. The Hmong people had great respect towards Walt for protecting Thao
and due to their cultural they continuously brought him food and flowers as a payment for their
gratitude. However, Walt came from a traditional hardworking American background which caused
him to be stubborn towards these people, but eventually they were able to influence him to associate
with them. Walt also in a way used his culture, which was in a way a hardworking lifestyle that men of
his time had, to impact Thao s life and help him to become more of a man. Throughout this movie
there were many more situations where each ethnic group benefitted in a way, however, I believe that
the Hmong benefitted the most because Walt was willing to give his life to better that of Thoa and Sue

The Not Neutral Net Neutrality
The Not So Neutral Net Neutrality

Abstract
Net Neutrality stands to define the future of internet. I will discuss the pros and cons, the different
perspectives on the subject, the effects on providers (such as Netflix) and consumers, and some of the
future implications of this contentious issue. Net Neutrality is one of the defining struggles of what
role technology and information will play in our future. What regulations should there be on internet
freedom, censorship and the free market? There are many rivaling interests between various
companies, consumers and the government. The military s reliance upon internet resources means we
will have to adapt to this emergent problem as it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There has been a recent push by several ISPs to give them the freedom to choose how and what data is
allowed to flow through their networks. There are several arguments for and against this line of
thinking. Should the internet remain the way it has been, or does it need to change?
Pros for Change
There are many reasons the ISPs and others have given that argue for a need to change. The internet
has certainly changed over the years, it would make some sense that things will have to evolve and
change with it.
There are some internet services that consume disproportionate amounts of bandwidth. The obvious
example is Netflix. During peak hours of internet usage, Netflix stands head and shoulders above
other applications. In 2013 CNET reported that Netflix was 31% of the total downstream traffic. This
means that Netflix alone accounts for almost a third of all internet traffic during peak times. The strain
upon ISPs to provide the necessary infrastructure to support the high bandwidth of video and audio
streaming is a big argument for a change to Net Neutrality. This change has already been observed, as
ISPs have effectively charged Netflix a premium in order to allow Netflix to reach its customers
without crippling throttling. The below is from Sandvine, who is a Canadian ISP. They tracked the
bandwidth usages during peak hours and came up with these startling findings.
Another big consumer of internet bandwidth is YouTube.

The Responsibility Of Being A Project Manager
Taking on the responsibility of being a project manager can be multidimensional and very demanding
but rewarding at the end. The roles of a project manager has the total responsibility for the successful
planning, execution, monitoring, control and closure of a project. After a project manager take on a
tasks that s has been assigned to him/her from a client, the job is just beginning. They must first
understand and have general knowledge about the task that has been put in their hand. The mission
starts with assembling an all star team that will be able to assist you in every aspect as the project go
along, next, the project manager and selected team should start piecing together a strategy that
correlates with the project schedule to ensure every deadline will be made on or before time, also
enforce strong communication throughout the project, and set milestones and follow up at each
interval to assess the progress at every phase until the project is complete. A project manager must be
dedicated to the project assigned from beginning to end. It will consume a lot of your time, but you
will be overjoyed with a successful project at the end and say it was all well worth the stress, long
days and sleepless nights.
Being a project manager means you have to be able to keep up in a fast pace environment often filled
with conflicting deadlines that takes precedence over your personal endeavors. There will be times

Non Tariff Barriers Advantages And Disadvantages
India s per capita income is lower comparing to Sri Lanka s income. Consequently, India s per capita
income in 2014 was only US$ 1,262 whilst the per capita income in Sri Lanka was US$ 3,707 in
2014. This emphasize that Sri Lankans do have a healthier purchasing capacity comparing to India. In
lieu of the same, Sri Lankan service providers would have to provide services at a comparable price if
to compete with the Indian service providers in the Indian market. However, Sri Lankan customers
would be able to get services for a lower cost from Indian service providers which would reduce the
price of certain services, but it would a short term impact. During last few years Sri Lanka s external
trade has not been performing well and there would be cash outflow from the country which would
adversely affect the economy.

How Does Radish Grow Under Green Light
Discussion:
In the end, my data only partially supported my hypothesis. There was indeed a statistically highly
significant difference in plant height between radish height under red vs blue grow lights as well as a
statistically highly significant difference between radish height under green vs blue lights. However,
my data showed no statistical difference in plant height between radishes grown under green vs red
lights. This being said, my hypothesis was still technically correct because there was a difference
between the height in plants grown under different colored lights.
Surprisingly, the second part of my hypothesis was incorrect about the relationship between radish
plant height and radish plant mass. I had predicted a strong correlation, but there turned out to be no
statistically significant correlation between plant height and plant mass. There was actually an almost
Simpson s Paradox (almost because the data is not actually split) between plant height and weight
when grown under red light and plant height and weight when grown under green light. The red light
seemed to be better for plant growth originally because the mean plant height for red was higher than
that of green, however when you look at plant mass instead of height, green in the clear victor. This
result was so surprising that I did more research to figure out why it was the case. It turns out that
radishes actually grow up (grow their stalks taller) instead of out (expanding their leaf area) when they
are light deprived. The reason why the red ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Pear Shape Diamond Engagement Ring Pros And Cons
The pear shape diamond cut is known as a modified brilliant cut diamond, which is a combination of
two different cuts. Those cuts are the marquise cut and the round brilliant. It combines the best of both
cuts into an interesting diamond shape.
Pear shape diamonds have to be evenly cut since the parts of the curve should match on the shoulders.
The typical length of the pear cut ranges from 1.40 to 1.70, and the choice of ratio is often a personal
preference. Some women like long diamonds while others want wider diamonds.

A 1 carat brilliant round might cost thousands while a 1 carat pear shape will be a fraction of the cost.

Cons of the Pear Shaped Diamond Engagement Ring
Bow Tie Effect
With some diamonds, you ll get a bow tie effect that will mar the interior of the diamond. It s a light to
dark shadow that looks like a bow tie inside the diamond. While some people think the bow tie gives
the diamond character, others don t appreciate anything blocking the light of the diamond. The pear
shape cut will always have a bow tie effect, but in some diamonds it s more pronounced.
Symmetry
As mentioned previously, the shoulders or upper curves of the pear cut should be symmetrical. In
some bad cuts, you ll see two shoulders that don t match. While this isn t common, it can happen with
some bad cutters. It s vital to be aware of this problem.
Pointed Tip
The pointed tip of the diamond is prone to breakage. It s also the spot where there can be inclusions or
flaws because it s the spot that was closest to the edge of the raw diamond before it was cut. You can
minimize damage by having an extra prong to protect the fragile point of the

Terrorism is the systematic use of violence and intimidation in the pursuit of the political aims. The
events that have occurred in the 1700 s turned the patriots into a party of rebels that began sending

a terrorist group. Their use of strategy to scare someone in a harmful way is not normal. As we have
learned through current events, there is a difference between protesting and putting people in harm s

The Decentralization Of Chicago
The definition of the Middle East as a category, is very much dependent of the existence of a West
(Alsayyad, 2011). What defines the term western and what makes a populace considered western? The
term western derives from the idea of European modernization, from cities such as London or Paris.
Under this modernization the cities adapted to new technologies, such as transportation and road
systems. Western culture was introduced; culture referring to that complex while which includes
knowledge, belief, art, law, morals, customs, and other capabilities and habits acquired by a person as
a member of society (Edward B Taylor, Anthropologist). Foreign capital, through tourism and

different cultures influence one another and become mixed. This has an effect on the rite of passage on
some individuals because they may start to wonder about their culture by learning facts about other
cultures and may not want to be a part of. There are several different attachment styles. Secure is an
attachment style when an individual feels confident and has trust in their relationship. Avoidant is an
attachment style when an individual is unsure about getting into in a relationship. Anxious attachment

The Issue Of Human Trafficking
Introduction
There is a wide misconception among Americans that support the idea that human trafficking is
something that only occurs overseas and not something that takes place in the United States. As a
country that puts a huge value on freedom of choice, many U.S. citizens naively wish to believe that
such an inhumane offense could never occur on our own free soil. Unfortunately, this notion is not
true at all and domestic trafficking is an ongoing issue that needs to be addressed within our own
borders. In addition to this disturbing crime occurring in our country, it is apparent that female
immigrants are the most at risk of being victims of this crime. A better understanding of why this
crime occurs would be beneficial in all aspects of the law and would aid in preventing domestic
trafficking from reoccurring and in helping those more at risk to become safer. From a policing
standpoint it is clear that only through a more comprehensive and in depth look into what provokes
criminals to become involved in domestic trafficking, by utilizing different criminological theories,
can there be any real changes. The key is not only to stop one specific instance of domestic trafficking
in the U.S. but to also aid in preventing it from reoccurring. It is also important to utilize different
criminal theories when considering what makes immigrant women more vulnerable when it comes to
this specific crime. If more officers of the law become more educated regarding the different

The UAE s economy is the most diversified in the Gulf and the wider region. There s no income tax.
The gross domestic product is 67,616 dollars US per capita. The country oil and gas reserves are
among the richest in the world. Successful efforts at economic diversification have reduced the portion
of GDP based on oil and gas output to twenty five percent with a plan to push it to zero within next
fifty years (Renewable Energy Prospects: United Arab Emirates p. 30). Low prices of oil have
prompted the UAE to take steps to reduce its spending on country wide social programs, including
eliminating fuel subsidies in August 2015. The IMF recently praised the vision and fiscal policies

Arthrogram Summary
According to WebMD, an Arthrogram is a radiographic examination of a joint, such as a knee,
shoulder, hip, ankle or wrist. It is used to obtain a series of pictures by using special kinds of
radiographic imaging like fluoroscopy, MRI, CT and contrast. Contrast material is a dye that is
injected into the patient and helps the doctor see the soft tissue structures of that joint such as tendons,
ligaments, muscles, cartilage and joint capsule (Healthwise Staff, 2014, p. 1).Contrast is either
injected directly into the joint or indirectly where the dye is injected into the bloodstream and absorbs
into the joint. Without contrast these structures would not be seen on a regular radiographic image.

Michigan Basketball History
Michigan basketball is in rare territory as a consistent inside presence is the missing piece to the
Wolverines postseason success puzzle.
Despite earning a 2016 NCAA Tournament bid, the Wolverines didn t do enough in postseason play to
satisfy the Michigan faithful s desire to enjoy a deep March run. Michigan fans are well aware of the
Wolverines wild success in the tournament preceding this year s first round loss to Notre Dame.
Arguably the best backcourt in the nation in 2013, Tim Hardaway Jr. and Trey Burke led Michigan to
an appearance in the national championship game against Louisville.
Wolverine fans remember Burke s overtime forcing 30 foot three point shot that ultimately earned

Michigan has a few candidates to fill the void in the middle. Mark Donnal showed flashes of promise
this season, and given that he ll be a senior next season, Donnal could help the Wolverines. Ricky
Doyle, a 6 foot 9 sophomore, didn t exactly scream breakout potential after averaging 3.8 points and
two rebounds per game in an expanded role this season.
Moritz Wagner, a freshman from Berlin, Germany, played an extremely limited role during the
Wolverines regular season. However, in Michigan s upset win over the Indiana Hoosiers on March 11,
Wagner went 2 for 2 from the free throw line and 3 for 3 from the field, including a three. In the
Wolverines First Four matchup against Tulsa, Wagner again was perfect from the field (2 for 2), while
grabbing eight boards and blocking four shots. Wagner showed enthusiasm and fire throughout
season, even from the bench. The team first mentality is something many young players lack, and it
will serve Wagner well in the future. Expect to see a major increase in minutes and productivity for

Term Limits In American Politics
For many years in American politics there are constantly debates on whether or not there should be
term limits imposed on politicians. Term limits have worked their way through Congress into many
cities and counties across America. With much support for term limits from Americans, it shows how
unsatisfied they are with politicians. But there are other ways to get politicians out of office without
term limits. With peoples vote there can be someone new to take the role and do a better job than the
last. Term limits would also decrease experience and would not help anyone gain more knowledge for
their job. In essence, limits are not needed for United States Senators and Representatives. All
Americans eighteen and older have a right to vote. If people do not like their current U.S. Senator or
Representative that is running in an election for another term, they simply do not have to vote for him
or her. When an official is not making the best decisions and/or choices, it is up to the people to make

Dreams are important to Hughes because dreams have no boundaries or limits of possibilities, which

Germany the government was Nazism raised by their leader Adolf Hitler. In Italy there was Fascism

This Blessed House Analysis
Performance in This Blessed House Jhumpa Lahiri s short story This Blessed House is one of many
stories in her Pulitzer Prize winning collection Interpreter of Maladies and follows a newlywed Indian
American couple, Sanjeev and Twinkle, settling into their first suburban home together. As Twinkle
begins to find and admire Christian objects scattered around the house, Sanjeev wants to throw them
all away, underscoring that Sanjeev deeply cares about how they will look if they display these
Christian symbols as Hindus, while Twinkle simply wants to have fun in presenting her discoveries.
More deeply rooted in the situation is that Sanjeev wants to look good in front of his coworkers; he
does not get along with Twinkle; and the house he is supposed to show off in an upcoming
housewarming party only troubles him with the Christian objects. Sanjeev s earlier phone calls with
his mother put these three variables of work, spouse, and home together as a formula, when she says
that because he has enough money in the bank, he needs a wife to look after and love, and that his
money is supposed to go toward raising a family (Lahiri 148). Sanjeev is taught to perform this role of
success, and despite it not making him truly happy, his continual pursuit of it emphasizes that he is
attempting to perform a fixed role that he does not fit into well. Sanjeev s actions and mentality in

Hirabayashi Vs Us Analysis
It is said that studying the past can help us avoid repeating the same mistakes. However, it seems like
we are disregarding this piece of sage advice today, as there are many conflicts being discussed
without any reference to pertinent historical events. Most relevant is the correlation between the
combat of terrorism today and the way America dealt with the threat of Japanese citizens during World
War II. In the face of terrorism, we cannot enact the same injustices on any religious, ethnic, or racial
group as Executive Order 9066 did to its Japanese American citizens.
The internment of Japanese American people for over two years was not only unlawful, but it also

United States protested the exclusion of Japanese people in Military Areas. The Supreme Court
convicted Korematsu for violating Civilian Exclusion Order No. 34 in a 6 3 majority (Korematsu v.
United States). Despite the result of his case, many people, including Supreme Court Justices,
continue to look unfavorably upon the ruling (Liptak). It is hard to believe that the ruling still stands
with such a great backlash. Under the stare decisis doctrine, which literally means to stand by a
decided matter, new and future cases similar to Korematsu v. United States should have the same
outcome (Grabianowski). When facing terrorism today, it is important to consider that the precedent of
the Korematsu case was highly disputed even during wartime conditions. Justice Jackson wrote If
Congress in peace time legislation should enact such a criminal law, I should suppose this Court
would refuse to enforce it in his dissent to the ruling (Korematsu v. United States). The fight against
terrorism is not a time that justifies stripping a citizen of their promised rights. While our national
security may be in danger, it does not mean that constitutional rights should be as well. Presently, we
as a nation need to learn how to accept our fellow citizens with open arms and combat the real enemy.
We have to disassociate them from the terrorists who actually pose a

My Passion For North Carolina Basketball
My passion for North Carolina basketball began the moment I understood what basketball was. One
evening while we were watching a game, my father, a graduate of the University of North Carolina,
declared me a fan of the Tar Heels. Without any objection, I made the decision to be a fan. Little did I
know that I would have countless memories on account of this decision.
At the young age of 7, my devotion and loyalty to the team had already grown to an emotional level. I
took each outcome personally, as though I was a part of the team myself. Already enjoying the
championship win of 2005, North Carolina fans like me were lucky to experience such success each

I was discouraged by his abandonment of the team. I decided to never leave a game no matter the

my face as I ran up the stairs to deliver the horrible news to my father, who was disappointed but not
surprised. I sprawled out onto the floor dispirited and let out a cry for longer than the baby had. My
father made an attempt to stop me, but my sadness was not to be argued with. Today, I laugh at the
story, impressed by the amount of passion and importance I held in a simple game.
The following year, Carolina fans returned with even higher expectations. Over the course of the
regular season, these expectations were fulfilled. Entering the tournament as a top seed with the same
starting squad, the team was faced with a similar challenge to the one that they were defeated by the
year before. Taking advantage of the Elite Eight game in Memphis, my father, brother, and I traveled

nervous considering the possibility of defeat. We found our seats and prepared for tip off. Late in the

that rained down put a smile on my face. Watching the players cut down the nets, I knew that I would

Hinduism, Christianity, And Islam
Hinduism, Christianity, and Islam are three very prominent religions in today s world. Although God
is an extremely significant figure in all three religions, each sect offers a unique approach in
describing God. Each faith has readings from sacred books that discuss their own individual beliefs on
how God s disciples should act in order to achieve eternal salvation. The Pillar of Edicts , written by
Ashoka, is a summary of the Hindu faith, which discusses the concept of dharma in relation to how
the Hindu people must live their daily lives. Additionally, the Bhagavad Gita, a very popular and
sacred text found in the Hindu church, establishes the Hindu concept of salvation and life after death.
In the holy bible, chapters five through seven in the book of Matthew presents fundamentals of the
Christian faith. The Quran, the most cherished text in Islam, is the revelation of God s word. It
explains what it means to follow God s commandments and constructs the Islamic philosophy. All
three religions discuss their unique approach on how to obtain eternal life through obeying God. The
Pillar of Edicts outlines the principle of dharma, which is basically the consciousness of right and
wrong behaviors. Ashoka, a warrior and emperor in India, inscribed the seven edicts on rocks and
pillars that have been discovered in India, Nepal, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. The first pillar proposed
by Ashoka proclaims that without a love for the Dhamma, this being the same as dharma ,

Reefs can live decades to centuries. This is only when there is little to no damage done to the reefs.
There are different kinds of things that can damage the reefs. One of these things is when the weather
changes, from cold to hot or hot to cold, it changes the sea level and temperature of it. When sea level
and temperature changes it damages the coral reefs. Another thing that can harm the coral reefs are
seaweed. Seaweed is a threat to corals because they grow much faster, than the seaweed starts to take
over the coral reef. When there is too much nutrients in the sea, the seaweed grows much faster than

The most significant threat to coral reefs is human interaction. People use coral reefs for a lot of
things. They provide us with jobs, coral reefs bring in 30 billion dollars a year, the most they have

including law enforcement, corrections officers, and mental health analysts that are involved with
individuals that are being booked or process in Ada County Jail. The individuals that are being
analyzed are mentally ill and homeless that has been booked into Ada County Jail in Boise, Idaho that
requires treatment for mental health issues. This research will be gathered from a probability sampling
technique. Since the individuals being questioned are typically homeless or continually entered into
the system, the data being analyzed will already be entered into the system. Therefor this study will be
conducted using a simple or systematic random sampling technique. The research will analyze how
inmates are assessed during the booking process. The study conducted will be gathered from both the
inmates and the corrections staff. The information that is assembled from the questionnaires will help
the researchers to analyze the mental health for inmates. This could potentially help professionals to
treat and diagnose the incoming individuals with mental health issues. This research sampling method
would be useful in this study because it takes the entire population of homeless individuals with
mental illnesses and are chosen randomly. This gives a better chance of getting new information from
individuals from both the staff perspectives and the inmates.

Deterrence And Rational Choice Theory
Throughout the world crime is happening every single day. Yes, some people may feel as if the
deterrence theory does not work. Due to the fact that crime still happens in the world. This essay will
look at the support for the theory. As well as the key problems for the theory. Next, it will explain
some of the newest directions in deterrence/rational choice theory. Finally, it will either agree/disagree
with someone s thought on deterrence and how it does not work and is a waste of time to study.
Deterrence and rational choice are two different things. Deterrence is used to punish those who
disobey and in return help deter others from committing the same crime. While rational choice is
when the individual thinks about the cost and the benefits of them committing this crime (Cornish and
Clarke, text CH 34). Deterrence and rational choice tend to work pretty well on young adults. For
example, if a teenager sees his friends face time in prison for committing an act of violence. That may
deter them from committing the same crime or something similar. Reason is that they possibly think of
the pros and cons of each situation and how the effect it could have on family. Also where deterrence
and rational choice work could not be define. Due to the fact that judges interpret the law, and do not
have a across the board rule and sentencing guideline to help them make a decision. Deterrence and
rational choice does have some problems. One problem is that there is no way to tell if

Luther Standing Bear was a master at using rhetoric, because with it, he benefits not only his people, but also the human identity. Luther Standing Bear contributed all of his efforts to get the Native Americans a place in a world that was no longer theirs. Luther Standing Bear is a pioneer in what would eventually become a movement for Civil Rights. The ideas that he was using did not involve insults but rather, pointed out views that others hadn t seen or thought of before. Instead of using hatred and insults, he used his wisdom and his life experiences to express his views on the world, and why big changes had to be executed immediately. Standing Bear uses the opportune moment in the early 20th century, while civil rights was at its infancy to persuade the white man that the Indian was no different than he was. Luther Standing bear was born in 1868, on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. Luther Standing Bear s real name was Ota K te (Plenty Kill). For the first eleven years of his life, Standing Bear was taught the traditional ways of the Lakota. This meant that he learned how to hunt at a young age; he also learned the tales and the language of his people. There has been a recent push by several ISPs to give them the freedom to choose how and what data is allowed to flow through their networks. There are several arguments for and against this line of thinking. Should the internet remain the way it has been, or does it need to change? Pros for Change There are many reasons the ISPs and others have given that argue for a need to change. The internet has certainly changed over the years, it would make some sense that things will have to evolve and change with it. There are some internet services that consume disproportionate amounts of bandwidth. The obvious example is Netflix. During peak hours of internet usage, Netflix stands head and shoulders above other applications. In 2013 CNET reported that Netflix was 31% of the total downstream traffic. This means that Netflix alone accounts for almost a third of all internet traffic during peak times. The strain upon ISPs to provide the necessary infrastructure to support the high bandwidth of video and audio streaming is a big argument for a change to Net Neutrality. This change has already been observed, as ISPs have effectively charged Netflix a premium in order to allow Netflix to reach its customers without crippling throttling. The below is from Sandvine, who is a Canadian ISP. They tracked the bandwidth usages during peak hours and came up with these startling findings. Another big consumer of internet bandwidth is YouTube. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There was indeed a statistically highly significant difference in plant height between radish height under red vs blue grow lights as well as a statistically highly significant difference between radish height under green vs blue lights. However, my data showed no statistical difference in plant height between radishes grown under green vs red lights. This being said, my hypothesis was still technically correct because there was a difference between the height in plants grown under different colored lights. Surprisingly, the second part of my hypothesis was incorrect about the relationship between radish plant height and radish plant mass. I had predicted a strong correlation, but there turned out to be no statistically significant correlation between plant height and plant mass. There was actually an almost Simpson s Paradox (almost because the data is not actually split) between plant height and weight when grown under red light and plant height and weight when grown under green light. The red light seemed to be better for plant growth originally because the mean plant height for red was higher than that of green, however when you look at plant mass instead of height, green in the clear victor. This result was so surprising that I did more research to figure out why it was the case. The Issue Of Human Trafficking Introduction There is a wide misconception among Americans that support the idea that human trafficking is something that only occurs overseas and not something that takes place in the United States. As a country that puts a huge value on freedom of choice, many U.S. citizens naively wish to believe that such an inhumane offense could never occur on our own free soil. Unfortunately, this notion is not true at all and domestic trafficking is an ongoing issue that needs to be addressed within our own borders. In addition to this disturbing crime occurring in our country, it is apparent that female immigrants are the most at risk of being victims of this crime. A better understanding of why this crime occurs would be beneficial in all aspects of the law and would aid in preventing domestic trafficking from reoccurring and in helping those more at risk to become safer. From a policing standpoint it is clear that only through a more comprehensive and in depth look into what provokes criminals to become involved in domestic trafficking, by utilizing different criminological theories, can there be any real changes. The key is not only to stop one specific instance of domestic trafficking in the U.S. but to also aid in preventing it from reoccurring. • 33. This Blessed House Analysis Performance in This Blessed House Jhumpa Lahiri s short story This Blessed House is one of many stories in her Pulitzer Prize winning collection Interpreter of Maladies and follows a newlywed Indian American couple, Sanjeev and Twinkle, settling into their first suburban home together. As Twinkle begins to find and admire Christian objects scattered around the house, Sanjeev wants to throw them all away, underscoring that Sanjeev deeply cares about how they will look if they display these Christian symbols as Hindus, while Twinkle simply wants to have fun in presenting her discoveries. More deeply rooted in the situation is that Sanjeev wants to look good in front of his coworkers; he does not get along with Twinkle; and the house he is supposed to show off in an upcoming housewarming party only troubles him with the Christian objects. Sanjeev s earlier phone calls with his mother put these three variables of work, spouse, and home together as a formula, when she says that because he has enough money in the bank, he needs a wife to look after and love, and that his money is supposed to go toward raising a family (Lahiri 148). Sanjeev is taught to perform this role of success, and despite it not making him truly happy, his continual pursuit of it emphasizes that he is attempting to perform a fixed role that he does not fit into well. • 34. Hirabayashi Vs Us Analysis It is said that studying the past can help us avoid repeating the same mistakes. However, it seems like we are disregarding this piece of sage advice today, as there are many conflicts being discussed without any reference to pertinent historical events. Most relevant is the correlation between the combat of terrorism today and the way America dealt with the threat of Japanese citizens during World War II. In the face of terrorism, we cannot enact the same injustices on any religious, ethnic, or racial group as Executive Order 9066 did to its Japanese American citizens. The internment of Japanese American people for over two years was not only unlawful, but it also created a sense of distrust and resentment in the government. The constitutionality ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... United States protested the exclusion of Japanese people in Military Areas. The Supreme Court convicted Korematsu for violating Civilian Exclusion Order No. 34 in a 6 3 majority (Korematsu v. United States). Despite the result of his case, many people, including Supreme Court Justices, continue to look unfavorably upon the ruling (Liptak). It is hard to believe that the ruling still stands with such a great backlash. Under the stare decisis doctrine, which literally means to stand by a decided matter, new and future cases similar to Korematsu v. United States should have the same outcome (Grabianowski). When facing terrorism today, it is important to consider that the precedent of the Korematsu case was highly disputed even during wartime conditions. Justice Jackson wrote If Congress in peace time legislation should enact such a criminal law, I should suppose this Court would refuse to enforce it in his dissent to the ruling (Korematsu v. United States). The fight against terrorism is not a time that justifies stripping a citizen of their promised rights. While our national security may be in danger, it does not mean that constitutional rights should be as well. Presently, we as a nation need to learn how to accept our fellow citizens with open arms and combat the real enemy. We have to disassociate them from the terrorists who actually pose a ... One evening while we were watching a game, my father, a graduate of the University of North Carolina, declared me a fan of the Tar Heels. Without any objection, I made the decision to be a fan. Little did I know that I would have countless memories on account of this decision. At the young age of 7, my devotion and loyalty to the team had already grown to an emotional level. I took each outcome personally, as though I was a part of the team myself. Already enjoying the championship win of 2005, North Carolina fans like me were lucky to experience such success each year. I sprawled out onto the floor dispirited and let out a cry for longer than the baby had. My father made an attempt to stop me, but my sadness was not to be argued with. Today, I laugh at the story, impressed by the amount of passion and importance I held in a simple game. The following year, Carolina fans returned with even higher expectations. Over the course of the regular season, these expectations were fulfilled. Entering the tournament as a top seed with the same starting squad, the team was faced with a similar challenge to the one that they were defeated by the year before. Taking advantage of the Elite Eight game in Memphis, my father, brother, and I traveled to watch the game against Oklahoma live at the FedExForum. As we entered the arena, I became nervous considering the possibility of defeat. We found our seats and prepared for tip off. Late in the second half, North Carolina took a sizeable lead that would put the Heels ahead for good. The confetti that rained down put a smile on my face. Watching the players cut down the nets, I knew that I would always be a Carolina fan. The team would continue to defeat Villanova and later ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 43. Deterrence And Rational Choice Theory Throughout the world crime is happening every single day. Yes, some people may feel as if the deterrence theory does not work. Due to the fact that crime still happens in the world. This essay will look at the support for the theory. As well as the key problems for the theory. Next, it will explain some of the newest directions in deterrence/rational choice theory. Finally, it will either agree/disagree with someone s thought on deterrence and how it does not work and is a waste of time to study. Deterrence and rational choice are two different things. Deterrence is used to punish those who disobey and in return help deter others from committing the same crime. While rational choice is when the individual thinks about the cost and the benefits of them committing this crime (Cornish and Clarke, text CH 34). Deterrence and rational choice tend to work pretty well on young adults. For example, if a teenager sees his friends face time in prison for committing an act of violence. That may deter them from committing the same crime or something similar. Reason is that they possibly think of the pros and cons of each situation and how the effect it could have on family. Also where deterrence and rational choice work could not be define. Due to the fact that judges interpret the law, and do not have a across the board rule and sentencing guideline to help them make a decision. Deterrence and rational choice does have some problems.
