Emergence Of Information Economy Essay
Essay Title 3: The emergence of information economy has far reaching strategic implications for
managers in many organizations. Select and discuss some of these implications by reflecting on three
aspects, namely (1) the rationale behind your selection, (2) the changing requirements imposed by the
new economy and (3) the disconnections between an organization s IT capability and the external
requirements. It is vital to address the increasing commoditization of IT and/or IT ‐based solutions
when illustrating their strategic potentials. The changes businesses have had to accommodate to
because of the emergence of information economy, have been immeasurable. Moving from vertical
integration to outsourcing in an increasingly virtual ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, proponents argue that the new telecommunication technologies are the electronic highways
of the informational age, equivalent to the role played by railway systems in the process of
industrialization (Henderson and Castells 1987:6 as cited by Dicken 2007:83) implying that IT indeed
is in the process of reaching maturity but that there are still gaps where the advances in IT have not
been exploited fully. The time space convergence process is geographically uneven (Dicken, 2007:83)
since two thirds of all registered domain names are in just three countries (US, Germany, UK).
Therefore IT services are far from being globally available which implies that even if IT based
solutions are reaching homogeneity in developed parts of the world, for underdeveloped ones IT can
still be looked upon as a source of competitive advantage if implemented adequately. Economic
benefits The emergence of the information age has greatly impacted the concept of economies of
scale, since its goal is to provide ease of change at the business component and interface levels and

Day Of The Dead Essay
Several faces were painted as Calaveras, or skulls; some were colorful, intricate designs, others were
simple, yet elegant, with black and white. People were gathered to celebrate the Day of the Dead. Day
of the Dead is celebrated on November 2nd. This was the 42nd day of the Dead event hosted by Self
Help Graphics, at Felicitas and Gonzalo Mendez High School. This year s event was subtitled, Alas de
los Muertos, The Return of the Souls. According the pamphlet handed out in the information booth,
the return of the souls, refers to the monarch butterflies that return every year during the Day of the
Dead celebration. With this as a subtheme, many artworks of butterflies displayed throughout the
event. In addition to the artworks, handcrafted tissue paper carnations and papier mâché skulls were
used as décor, which tied the Day of the Dead look together. Along with the beautiful displays of
artwork, there was also food and entertainment at the event. Vendors selling food such as pupusas,
tamales, and posole. The entertainment consisted of face painting, children s art workshops, and
performers such as Brenton Wood, The Wise Guys, and El Haru Kuroi. To accompany the festivities,
there were dance and face paint competitions. Not only did I attend the event, but I also volunteered
by taking orders and selling merchandise.
Before the day of the event, I decided to head from Northridge over to Alhambra, where my mom

Control And Power In George Orwell s 1984
Governments are very complex systems in modern society controlling many activities throughout
individuals lives. A few of the many being simple or inmate pleasures such as chocolate and sex. In
Orwell s 1984, all sort of emotions are eliminated by the party. Throughout the book and even modern
time countries such as North Korea have we seen the smallest of pleasures being eliminated for the
sake of the country. Control and power being the prime drive of the government s to keep going on
with the country. Prime symbols are widely targeted in 1984 to further acknowledge the growth of it in
modern society. Controlling these small things have proved many adversaries that it has worked for
them and would continue to work for them if they continue with that path. The party wants all and
total power. Simple pleasures and intimacy shown by insubordinates is dangerous to the party. If a
person falls in love, such as Winston, the party takes the individual to the Ministry of Love. Ironically,
this is to cure by torture. They take love as a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

not permit it to happen. They make it seems like certain pleasures do not exist. In a way it makes it
seem like they are stronger than their adversaries. Luxuries in the country are everyday things to
people in more progressed countries like the United States. The citizens do not know of this through
media control thus thinking they are living a great life and better than average living standard. Despite
this not all are contained and many escape which signifies the insubordinates shown in 1984 who do

Apple Company is one of the most successful companies in electronic industry and is one of the most

This is due to several reasons and the most reason is the Nokia don t used the good strategies to
developed the products. Nokia Company was acclaimed for its marketing and was seen as the
company that had best figured out how to turn mobile phones into fashion accessories. It s more
accurate to say that Nokia was at its heart a hardware company rather than a software company. Nokia
failed to recognize the increasing importance of software strategy also there was another mistake
which is Nokia have overestimated the strength of its brand and believed that even if it was late to the
smartphone game it would be able to catch up quickly. Long after the iPhones release, in fact, Nokia
continued to insist that its superior hardware designs would win over users. Even today, there are
people who claim that if Nokia had stuck with its own operating systems, instead of embracing the
windows Phone in 2011, it could have succeeded. But even though the windows Phone has been a
flop, the truth is that by 2010 Nokia had already introduction too many disappointing phones because
Nokia Company don t used successful strategy to developing the product. (James Surowiecki,

Child Study Examples
My child study was inspired by the richly textured collages of Romare Bearden. I created an
appropriate lesson plan for the developmental level of a third grade student. The student that I worked
with was Leanna, she goes to PS.29. She is eight years old, and she loves to to dance and be creative.
As a third grade student, Leanna does not have art class. Arts and crafts are done sporadically
throughout the school year and sometimes during lunch. As a lover of the arts, Leanna really doesn t
like that her school doesn t offer her art classes. When asked, she said her favorite form of art is
origami. She loves to create origami hearts for valentine s day. It is really unfortunate for creative
students, like Leanna to be deprived from applying their creativity in art classes.
After presenting the lesson to Leanna, she knew what she wanted to create. Once I gave her the
supplies, she took the magazines and started flipping through them right away. She chose a brown

I wanted Leanna to create and show either a picture or memory through her collage but I wasn t sure
how to word it. In the end, we looked through the Romare Bearden: Collage of Memories book to
infer what inspired Bearden to create his collages. This book proves great visuals and illustrations of
the collages Bearden has created. It also includes information about him and his artwork. Showing
Leanna, the diversity of Bearden s collages really helped her get inspired to create her own collage. It
also inspired me to create a fun and appropriate lesson plan for Leanna. This teaching experience
showed me the importance of art in public schools. If more schools provide students of all ages with
art classes students will be more inspired and ready to learn. Art classes are therapeutic and beneficial
to students and after two hours of math, creating art would be

Oral Language and Reading Comprehension
Introduction: This paper is intentionally made to show the comparison between oral language and
reading comprehension. Oral language and reading comprehension are both essential to every
individual. All of us had undergone oral language when we are still young and as it develops and as
we grow and mature, it enables us to be more knowledgeable and prepares us to a more needed
comprehension in reading. This two are significant and are interrelated to each other. As a parent,
talking to the child helps expands vocabulary, develop background knowledge, and inspire a curiosity
about the world. The more a child engages into certain experiences and more learning that starts from
parents and then to teachers, it will widen their minds and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Developmental stages of child language development: Phase I Protolinguistic or Protolanguage ,
Phase II Transition, Phase III Language. The Protolanguage Stage (which is associated with the
crawling stage) includes noises and intonation, physical movement, adult/infant interaction this
exchange of attention is the beginning of language. During the Transition Stage (which is associated
with the developmental stage of walking) there is a transition from child tongue to mother tongue.
During this stage the pragmatic mode develops; a demand for goods and services that seeks a response
in the form of an action. In Phase III Language Stage, the child moves from talking about shared
experience to sharing information with a third person. The child realizes that reality is beyond their
own experience; they invite confirmation, enjoy shared experience.
From the ontogenesis of conversation we are able to gain insight into human learning and human
understanding. Meaning is created at the intersection of two contradictions the experiential one,
between the material and the conscious modes of experience, and the interpersonal one, between
different personal histories of the interacting taking part (Halliday,1994). Properly developed oral
language enables a child to effectively communicate their thoughts and viewpoints with others. It is
also important for young children to have developed listening skills as they begin to

A Research Study On New Key Markets
Studying more deeply the geographic population, finding new key markets ready to be pierced by a
new identifiable group with specific needs, is something I want to do. Being an entrepreneur that is
studying carefully the rising market of elderly people seeking to upgrade their standard vehicle to a
mobility vehicle and selling it to them is something I am looking forward to. This segment of the
population is rising, now that the baby boomers are in their retirement years.
The article is old (10 years old), but the information is still relevant and the currency does not matter
in the sense where we shouldn t pay attention to this potential market because the elderly population is
still raising ...and by 2020 that number is expected to double, surpassing 40 million. (said Guyette
p.24). This article could be considerate even as recent since the baby boomers ended in the mid 60s
and the market is still rising.
It is also relevant to a potential career as a Marketing researcher and in entrepreneurship, as it explains
the low implication of dealerships to sell mobility vehicles and insurance company repairing the
potential damages made inadequately. Also, collision shops seem unprepared to repair these issues.
These issues are caused by unprepared people towards this market, which is relevant to the challenges
I will face.

Joe Diffie Research Paper
Joe Diffie entered a crowded field of talented, good looking male country vocalists in early 1990;
despite the competition, the clever lyricist with what People called a booming tenor and wide open
vocal range achieved stardom in a very short time, racking up an unprecedented series of chart
successes. His appeal was due in great part to his ability to cross the boundary separating traditional
country vocal styles from the pop and rock influenced sound that has increasingly come to dominate
Nashville s musical output. Diffie is also versatile, a quality developed over years of diligent
apprenticeship in several areas of the music business.
Born in Duncan, Oklahoma, in 1958, Diffie had musical ambitions from a tender age. He has an early
memory of his father listening to a record by country music giant George Jones and saying that
nobody else could sing like that. And I thought, I can, Diffie recalled. When I got a little older, I was
one of those guys who knew every dad gum song on the radio and would run people crazy singing
them all, he told Bob Allen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

tempo numbers worthy of lively line dances, a modern take on hillbilly boogie of the 1940s and 50s,
and sensitive, evocative and totally believable ballads and story songs. Kienzle praised Diffie s wit
and sharp imagery throughout his critique and concluded, Diffie s found a focus and a strength here ....

Reflective Essay On Faith And Religion
Faith and religion are an uncomfortable topic for most, a treasured topic for some, and incredibly life
changing for others. My own faith has grown immensely over the years, and it is something that has
been so integral in my growth that I cannot shy away from sharing it in abundance. God has revealed
many things to me, one of which is that when I stop living to glorify myself, and instead glorify Him
with my actions, He will bless that.
It was a Saturday night, in the middle of a cold February. The year was 2011, and I was a sophomore
in high school. My face had been painted in layers of bright blues and greys, my hair under a long,
black wig that reached to my waist. My heart was pounding, just like it did before every performance.
However, it was never stage fright. I loved the feeling of the hot, white spotlight, the hundreds of
children sitting on the edges of their seats. I cherished the feeling of excitement that welled up in my
throat as the overture swelled, the bass vibrating beneath my feet. I was in love with theater, and I
poured my heart and time into every performance we gave. This performance was no exception. I was
in a production of The Chronicles of Narnia The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. After being cast
as the female lead The White Witch I had spent hours of dedicated preparation for the part.
The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe is a beloved tale, but many do not know that it is an allegory
for the beliefs of the Christian faith. As a

Emergency Plumbing Services Case Study
How to Find Emergency Plumbing Services Five Questions to Ask
It is common for homeowners to put plumbing issues in the back of their mind, until emergency
plumbing services are needed. In an emergency, every second counts, especially in situations, such as
a burst pipe or busted water heater. In emergency situations, it is essential that you hire a qualified
plumber to avoid costly mistakes down the road. The best defense is to have plumbers in Seattle on
hand before a disaster strikes, so in order to protect yourself, here are five questions to ask before
making the decision to hire.
Are You Licensed?
The first question to ask when hiring potential emergency plumbing services, is are you licensed in
Seattle? Not all areas require a license, so if they do not have one, make sure to ask if it is required.
Licensed plumbers in Seattle must pass a test showing they know the current building codes and they
are required to stay up to date on all building code changes. If a license is required and you hire an
unlicensed plumber, the work will be considered illegal, which means the insurance company will not
reimburse you and you may have to pay a fine to the city and/or county.
Do You Have Insurance? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Liability insurance pays for damages and repairs that are the result of a plumbers actions. For
example, if the plumber causes damages to your house while the plumbing problem is being fixed,
liability insurance will pay for the damages. If the plumber is not insured, you will be responsible for
the damages. Workers compensation is designed to cover the plumber and their employees in case of
injuries that occur while in your home. Without workers compensation, you would be responsible for
the medical bills and any other associated

Comparing Aristotle s 8
Now the question is what values should one have to rule, what makes them qualified compared to
others. Plato outlines the different aspects of government and why he believes an aristocracy would be
better form of government. In book 8 Socrates starts to wrap up his depiction of a just city. He starts to
break down the four unjust constitutions of the city and man. Timocracy, which is represented by the
honor driven man who resembles and rules that sort of government. There is an oligarchy, ruled by a
man driven by his necessary appetites. Democracy, in which the man is controlled by unnecessary
appetites. And finally there is tyranny, which the man is driven by unlawful appetites. Socrates
towards the end of book 8 break down how all these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In book 9 Plato discusses the aspects of the tyrannical man. He mentions that the tyrants are someone
who is consumed by lawless desires. One question I have is the tyrannical man destined to be a tyrant
because he has a noble democratic father? These desires lead men towards ghastly, shameless,
criminal actions that are particularly bad for someone in an position of power. Socrates offers an
example of a lawless desire is the desire to sleep with one s mother, something that is horrible to do in
any society. It is made clear that all of us have lawless desires, which is indubitably true. The proof is
that these desires occasionally come out at night, in our dreams, when the rational part of us is not on
guard. But only the tyrannical man allows these desires to emerge in life while he is awake during the
day. Plato s description continues, the tyrannical man is the son of the democratic man. His father is
not lawless, but he does indulge unnecessary desires. Just like the father, the son is exposed to drones,
men with lawless desires. However the father had his own oligarchic father s thriftiness to pull him
toward the middle road of democracy. This is crucial for the balance one must have to be a ruler in
society. Now this son brought up on the democratic ethos, moves further toward lawlessness. The
father and entire household try to win him back, but the ultimate triumph of the lawless is inevitable.

Women s Impact On Society
Women have been a key part in United States history since the beginning, whether that means in
economics, politics, or the social sphere. Women have continually been put below men as the second
sex. However, without women every aspect of American life would be different. Women play a crucial
role in consumerism, reform, and culture, which are all main parts of United States domestic life. A lot
of women unintentionally participate in consumer culture and economics daily. In early America,
women played an important part in consumer based boycotts. These included the boycotting of tea and
cloth, which drastically helped Northern Americas become less economically dependent on Europe
based products. Later in United States history, women were persuaded to buy items based on mass
circulation magazine ads that were in popular in 1890 s. These ads convinced women to buy brand
name items that promoted comfort for their household. The new products that consumers were buying
also promoted leisure, as seen by places like New York City where department stores were becoming
the new trend. For a long time in America, ads promoted traditional ideas of the ideal, nuclear family.
This attracted more women to stores and became known as the culture of sentimentalism. During this
time, the idea of having a household economy, where the women does the financial spending, while
the husband makes the money became a well accepted idea. As consumer culture, really took off in the

one of the last Gems on Earth to survive the war between the Crystal Gems (Rose s army) and the
Homeworld Gems. Gems are a species that are characterized by their corresponding gemstone (Pearl s
gemstone is a pearl, while Rose s is a quartz). All Gems are sexless and there seems to be an absence
of sexual dimorphism in the species, however all Gems seem to have traits that are commonly
associated with human femininity and actively respond to the pronouns she and her aside from Steven,
who is Rose s half human half Gem son. Pearl lives with and fights along Garnet and Amethyst, the
only other two Crystal Gems that survived the war, and Steven, Rose s son. It is abundantly clear that
Pearl was/is still in love with Rose, proudly crediting herself as Rose s sole confidant and making sure
her every act is for Rose and her legacy. Pearl s love for Rose eventually grows to the point of
obsessive recklessness, continuously sacrificing herself and convincing herself that she does not

Published in September 5, 1942 by the same artist Constantine Alajalov, we can see by the first view
of the cover on how the war has impacted the American industry. During the time of the war, many
able bodied men were either getting trained or in combat and with the high demand of labor for war
industries, many women for the first time have entered the work force performing jobs that usually
only men can handle. From this cover we see both men and women taking their lunch breaks, the
interesting part is how they re being represented. In one side we see the men all dispirited from their
work in plain darken clothes, while we see the women sitting in a circle all talking and laughing
dressed in bright colorful clothes. This possibly reflects the different attitudes toward their work of the
two groups. The women depicted here seems very pleased with the work they re doing and helping as
much as they can in the war, since before WWII they only been able to help in limited ways. On the
other hand, the men working here have likely been rejected by the army, who would prefer to be
fighting than working in a factory. Constantin Alajalov painted this picture possibly to show how it
reflects the different attitudes toward work which the American people had based upon their gender

Mob s Target Nicely Conveys The Premise Of This Crime...
The title MOB S TARGET nicely conveys the premise of this crime thriller. The plot focuses on an
insecure and fearful accountant who testifies against a major mobster, sending him to prison. The mob
wants revenge and she s the target. She enters a Witness Protection program, but an enforcer tracks her
down.
The goal of survival is clear and the stakes are life and death. There are several themes incorporated
into the script about trust, revenge, justice, survival, and second chances.
The script also poses some intriguing moral questions, especially for the police chief Joe. He has to
struggle with the moral argument of family vs. justice. He clearly has a moral dilemma.
With that said, this is a plotline that has been done before, but ... Show more content on

The plot also offers another coincidence with the idea that Megan s father was murdered and that
Brown investigated it. Again, too many coincidences cause one to question the credibility of the plot.
In this case, it s not clear how Megan s dad being murdered is relevant, or how it connects to the
plotline. The backstory is left dangling for the audience. It s a serious backstory to have a parent
murdered; yet there s no payoff for the reveal.
Normally, a backstory has some emotional affect on the current storyline. For example, if Megan were
home when her dad was killed and she was unable to protect and save him, then this could be a
relevant inner conflict for her. She could carry the guilt about her father and now she has to learn to
protect herself. Or in another example, if Megan were home when her dad was murdered, maybe she
saw the killer and now years later he reappears. Regardless, the idea of the connection to Brown isn t
clear and it s suggested to eliminate this connection unless there s a solid link to the present day
storyline and the past.
The opening sets the tone for a mobster story. It establishes that Nick is deadly. However, the scene isn
t as tense or suspenseful as it could be. One reason for this is that the audience isn t emotionally
invested in the owner of the bookshop and the dialogue and action doesn t create compelling enough
tension.
The other concern about the tone is that, in

Cardiac Surgery With Cardiopulmonary Bypass Essay
Introduction
Cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) is one of the most widely recognized major
surgical procedures worldwide. Renal failure is a noteworthy cause of morbidity and mortality after
cardiac surgery.1,2 Acute kidney injury (AKI) occurs in about 20 40% of patients3 and is associated
with a mortality rate of 8% compared with 0.9% in patients without AKI. AKI requiring hemodialysis
in the postoperative period is uncommon (~ 1% to 5%), yet associated with a remarkably high
mortality rate of 30% to 60%.4 (11 13). AKI increases the risk for ensuing chronic kidney disease and
kidney failure, with its associated morbidity and mortality.5
Clinical prediction tools have been developed to estimate the possibility of cardiac surgery associated
AKI (CSAAKI).8 10 These have recognized female gender, impaired left ventricular function, insulin
requiring diabetes, emergency surgery, and abnormal baseline renal function as independent predictors
of requirement for dialysis.23 Pathophysiological mechanisms of CSAAKI include decreased renal
perfusion, lack of pulsatile flow, oxidative stress, hypothermia, atheroembolism, and inflammation 23.
The main mechanism of injury is thought to be intraoperative ischemia reperfusion injury (IRI).20
Prolonged duration of cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) and its inflammatory response, and prolonged
aortic cross clamping are the leading factors associated with an increased likelihood of cardiac
ischemia reperfusion injury.22 Although

A View From The Bridge Thesis
The author wrote about Eddie who has been having it rough lately. He tried to make the best out of his
situation living under the circumstances that he does. His family keeps pressuring into avenging his
cousin s death. But he still manages to keep his head held high although it seemed like the entire
world was against him. He avoids getting into trouble or doing drugs because he knows that he wants
a good future and doing those things would not help. He keeps his head down and works for his dollar
no matter how hard it can get for him. He wrote the book to explain how hard some people work for
what they have. It is not always an easy road and he makes sure to explain it very well how hard he
had it. His own family were the ones encouraging ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Turning against the world of drugs and violence, Eddie vows to take the straight and narrow path,
even if it means struggling at temporary manual labor jobs. So when he takes a landscaping job for a
white man across town thinking that god had finally heard him, the man s truck is stolen from the
front of Eddie s apartment causing yet another problem to add on. He hid for hours and days drinking
because he really liked his job with the white man and was afraid of what might happen to him.
Although getting the truck stolen from him kinda seems like a big deal, it is not because that sort of
thing happens daily in the streets of fresno that he lived by, it was almost like that was something
normal to him. So when his aunt gets home she reminds him yet another time that his cousin died only
this time a gun came with the tortillas she would try and persuade him with the avenge the death of
her son.
In my opinion no matter how much eddie tries to stay away from trouble it always ends up finding
him. He gets all these opportunities and something bad happens every single time it seems like. I do
not think eddie is the issue either it is all of what he is surrounded by that keeps messing him up and
getting him off track, I think that he should continue working the jobs he has and move away from
there to see how successful he can become then. Because if his own family is wanting

Michael Apted s Treatment Of Amazing Grace

In Michael Apted s treatment of Amazing Grace, he focuses on a young abolitionist in a pro slavery
society. In the thesis, Apted and I examine how, tɦʀօʊɢɦ tɦɛ քօաɛʀɖʊʟ ʍɛssaɢɛ օʄ tɦɛ ɦʏʍռ Aʍaʐɨռɢ
Gʀaċɛ,William Wilberforce strives to stand up for what he believes is morally right when escaping
from political pressures, even if it means being humiliated. Throughout the film three types of history
occurred: political, economic, and military. The conclusion of the paper will be a restatement of the
main ideas, and my personal opinion on the film.
In the beginning of the movie, Michael Apted introduces William Wilberforce as a young abolitionist.
William lives in a society that is racist and prejudice to anyone not of their skin color. Great Britain in
the late 1700 s, was a society dominated by the upper class who opposed changes in their way of life.
To achieve this they lived a glamorous life, looking down on those below them in the social order. At
first William does not outright show his feeling about slavery but subtly shows it by being a worker of
God. To him a worker of God was one who made decisions and based their actions upon what they
believed God wanted. In the beginning of the film, As a game of poker occurs with other members of
Parliament in a bar, William plays against the Duke of Clarence a strong believer in slavery. The duke
gambles off his young black coach driver, and Wilberforce slams down his cards in anger and storms
off. Although he

The Issue Of Ministry At The Church
For Katie, having grown up at the church where she served for six years, her investment is deep in the
holistic potential of ministry, but the most painful conflict she experienced was the complications due
to the ongoing friendships and boss relationships when conflict was not resolved properly. One of the
biggest conflicts she had was when she had started to date someone that her boss could foresee red
flags (because he mentored the young man as well), but didn t intervene because the boss didn t know
how to speak to her both as a boss and as a friend to Katie. Katie had been very close to her boss and
saw him as a father figure. Sadly, her boss chose to be passive in his sentiments and gossiped to
numerous people before ever talking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For her situation, Katie learned what she can expect of this individual, while also believing that it is
possible, given different personalities or healthy self awareness, to find that balance of boss and
friend. Katie believes that some of the factors that could benefit this dynamic being possible is clear
communication and expectations between both parties that more things can be discussable if framed
within who they are speaking as (ie. as your boss, I wanted to discuss how my expectations of you
were not met in this way , or as your friend, this is something I ve noticed ). Being able to discuss
requires us to be able to have critical and important conversations without demonizing the
messenger/person and being able to talk about what needs to be talked about. If this value is partnered
with great humility on both sides to listen to one another and be open to where each could be missing
something or be wrong, we could flourish.
Modern Day Case Study: Gregory
Gregory was on staff as a teaching and young adult pastor at a large, Mid western church. The church
was reaching out to young families in the suburbs and it was a very busy season in ministry. There
were issues in this church that gave him pause regarding the health of the leadership structure, but the
church was growing very quickly. As so often happens in successful churches, growth covered over a

The Woman Card Was Written By Jill Lepore 27 Essay
The woman card was written by Jill Lepore 27 june 2016, and I have found several of her articles
relevant to my research. Lepore seems to be very educated in politics, and I find her articles to be very
well researched and informative. Her articles seem to be relevant to everyone in general, she wants the
readers to be informed and make educated opinions. Lepore likes to talk about the past and contrast it
to the present. This is a very great way to inform readers of the history and sacrifices women had to go
through to get where we are today. The women s party has only been around 100 years, this year, and
without it, our country would not be where it is today. I thought that Hillary was going to be the first
women president, instead we have the first president who has never held a political office. Clinton
spoke to women when she debated and when she was at rallies. She reached out to women specifically
trying to earn their vote, and with all the protests lately she seemed to have reached a lot of women, as
well as men. Most of the time women are more compassionate, understanding, and motherly, whereas
men are not. It has taken a long time for women to accomplish the things we have, and Lepore talks
about this in several of her articles. This article illuminates my bibliography topic because it lets
people know the history behind women and voting as well as each of the candidates and their
affiliations. This article even talks about the Republican Party that was

Dollar Diplomacy
Banana Wars/Dollar Diplomacy Specifically of the USA and Haiti
The USA always had a manifest destiny mindset .In fact fur U.S. Presidents passed acts to support this
ideology It all started with the creation of the Monroe Doctrine in 1823. This is a U.S. Foreign Policy,
announced by President James Monroe that stated the opposition to any European interference within
the affairs of the Western Hemisphere. European nations couldn t colonize land or interfere with states
in the South or North America. If Europe tried to expand or colonize in the Americas, it would be
viewed as acts of aggression, which would require the U.S. to attack or intervene.

Roosevelt, which stated that the U.S. would intervene in conflicts ... Show more content on

As a potential naval base for the United States, Haiti s stability concerned U.S. diplomatic and defense
officials who feared Haitian instability would possibly result in foreign rule of Haiti. In 1868,
President Andrew Johnson urged the annexation of the one island Haiti and the Dominican Republic,
to secure a U.S. defensive and economic stake in the West Indies. In 1910, President William Howard
Taft granted Haiti a large loan in hopes that Haiti may pay off its international debt, thus lessening
foreign influence. The attempt failed due to the enormity of the debt and also because of the internal
instability of the country.
The United States became increasingly involved with heightened German activity and influence in
Haiti. At the start of the twentieth century, German presence increased with German merchants
establishing trading branches in Haiti that dominated industrial business in the area. The United States
considered Germany its chief rival within the Caribbean and feared German control of Haiti would

Comparison Of Classism In Desiree s Baby And A Rose For Emily
Take everything you know about racism, sexism, and religionism and toss it out the window, because
there s an impediment to prosperity that is often underlooked: Classism. Classism is a suppression
which always has and always will continue to affect our everyday lives. The disparities that presently
exist between the lower and higher classes form a condition where it is unlikely to allow for equality
for anyone. The short stories A Rose of Emily, written by William Faulkner, and Desiree s Baby,
written by Kate Chopin, offered several depictions of classism within a society. A Rose for Emily
recounts the life of an isolated, aristocratic woman named Emily Grierson who symbolically
represents the demise of the old Southern society. Similarly, Désirée s Baby portrays classism present
in mid nineteenth century Southern society in conjunction with the inequalities that exist between
race. Class prejudice plays an important role as it was behind the emergence of the characters
unspeakable actions. In A Rose for Emily and Desiree s Baby, classism is emphasized and provokes
arrogance, denial, and the demise of others.
Denial is a recurring theme in both stories rendered by those who believe to be in a higher class. In A
Rose for Emily, Emily is depicted as an isolated woman who is so attached to the customs and
aristocracy of the past to the degree that she cannot accept change. Emily considers herself as a
wealthy and powerful spinster, and her family s position

The Effects Of Universal Health Insurance Mandate On The...
This paper reviews the effects of the universal health insurance mandate in the Massachusetts labor
market. Using a difference in differences (DID) model, this study focuses on the co evolution of
insurance coverage and labor markets. One found that under the recent legislation, workers from firms
of varying sizes demonstrate different patterns with regards to obtaining insurance coverage. While
employer sponsored health insurance is designed to be the primary source of coverage for
Massachusetts residents under reform, two legal loopholes exist in the employer mandate. For mid
sized organizations, the probability of part time employees working without employer provided
insurance has increased.

Similar to Massachusetts insurance reform, the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act
(PPACA) also features insurance exchanges, individual and employer mandates, and expanded
Medicaid coverage. Due to the similarity between the Massachusetts health reform and the Affordable
Care Act, much can be learned from Massachusetts s experience on implementing health insurance
coverage expansions and employer provided universal insurance coverage law. In other words, this
case offers insight into how some businesses and their employees might react to federal law
requirements.
Several studies sought to investigate the effect of the universal health reform and its impact on the
labor market outcomes, such as the unemployment rate and average wage (Buchmueller, 2013;
Kolstad, 2012). However, they failed to take into account the potential legal loopholes in part time
status, employer provided coverage and Medicaid, and the impact of companies size, even though
studies have shown that employer provided regulations are not equally demanding to different
businesses (Gruber, 2004).
The primary purpose of this paper is to determine whether the Massachusetts healthcare reform has, in
fact, improved health insurance coverage. If the reform indeed improved the coverage, which channels
were utilized to accomplish this? In order to better assess this issue, one explored the

  • 2. Emergence Of Information Economy Essay Essay Title 3: The emergence of information economy has far reaching strategic implications for managers in many organizations. Select and discuss some of these implications by reflecting on three aspects, namely (1) the rationale behind your selection, (2) the changing requirements imposed by the new economy and (3) the disconnections between an organization s IT capability and the external requirements. It is vital to address the increasing commoditization of IT and/or IT ‐based solutions when illustrating their strategic potentials. The changes businesses have had to accommodate to because of the emergence of information economy, have been immeasurable. However, proponents argue that the new telecommunication technologies are the electronic highways of the informational age, equivalent to the role played by railway systems in the process of industrialization (Henderson and Castells 1987:6 as cited by Dicken 2007:83) implying that IT indeed is in the process of reaching maturity but that there are still gaps where the advances in IT have not been exploited fully. The time space convergence process is geographically uneven (Dicken, 2007:83) since two thirds of all registered domain names are in just three countries (US, Germany, UK). Therefore IT services are far from being globally available which implies that even if IT based solutions are reaching homogeneity in developed parts of the world, for underdeveloped ones IT can still be looked upon as a source of competitive advantage if implemented adequately. Economic benefits The emergence of the information age has greatly impacted the concept of economies of scale, since its goal is to provide ease of change at the business component and interface levels and deliver economies of ... The entertainment consisted of face painting, children s art workshops, and performers such as Brenton Wood, The Wise Guys, and El Haru Kuroi. To accompany the festivities, there were dance and face paint competitions. Not only did I attend the event, but I also volunteered by taking orders and selling merchandise. • 7. Child Study Examples My child study was inspired by the richly textured collages of Romare Bearden. I created an appropriate lesson plan for the developmental level of a third grade student. The student that I worked with was Leanna, she goes to PS.29. She is eight years old, and she loves to to dance and be creative. As a third grade student, Leanna does not have art class. Arts and crafts are done sporadically throughout the school year and sometimes during lunch. As a lover of the arts, Leanna really doesn t like that her school doesn t offer her art classes. When asked, she said her favorite form of art is origami. She loves to create origami hearts for valentine s day. It is really unfortunate for creative students, like Leanna to be deprived from applying their creativity in art classes. After presenting the lesson to Leanna, she knew what she wanted to create. Showing Leanna, the diversity of Bearden s collages really helped her get inspired to create her own collage. It also inspired me to create a fun and appropriate lesson plan for Leanna. Oral language and reading comprehension are both essential to every individual. All of us had undergone oral language when we are still young and as it develops and as we grow and mature, it enables us to be more knowledgeable and prepares us to a more needed comprehension in reading. This two are significant and are interrelated to each other. As a parent, talking to the child helps expands vocabulary, develop background knowledge, and inspire a curiosity about the world. Developmental stages of child language development: Phase I Protolinguistic or Protolanguage , Phase II Transition, Phase III Language. The Protolanguage Stage (which is associated with the crawling stage) includes noises and intonation, physical movement, adult/infant interaction this exchange of attention is the beginning of language. During the Transition Stage (which is associated with the developmental stage of walking) there is a transition from child tongue to mother tongue. During this stage the pragmatic mode develops; a demand for goods and services that seeks a response in the form of an action. In Phase III Language Stage, the child moves from talking about shared experience to sharing information with a third person. The child realizes that reality is beyond their own experience; they invite confirmation, enjoy shared experience. From the ontogenesis of conversation we are able to gain insight into human learning and human understanding. Meaning is created at the intersection of two contradictions the experiential one, between the material and the conscious modes of experience, and the interpersonal one, between different personal histories of the interacting taking part (Halliday,1994). A Research Study On New Key Markets Studying more deeply the geographic population, finding new key markets ready to be pierced by a new identifiable group with specific needs, is something I want to do. Being an entrepreneur that is studying carefully the rising market of elderly people seeking to upgrade their standard vehicle to a mobility vehicle and selling it to them is something I am looking forward to. This segment of the population is rising, now that the baby boomers are in their retirement years. The article is old (10 years old), but the information is still relevant and the currency does not matter in the sense where we shouldn t pay attention to this potential market because the elderly population is still raising ...and by 2020 that number is expected to double, surpassing 40 million. (said Guyette p.24). This article could be considerate even as recent since the baby boomers ended in the mid 60s and the market is still rising. It is also relevant to a potential career as a Marketing researcher and in entrepreneurship, as it explains the low implication of dealerships to sell mobility vehicles and insurance company repairing the potential damages made inadequately. Also, collision shops seem unprepared to repair these issues. These issues are caused by unprepared people towards this market, which is relevant to the challenges I will face. • 10. Joe Diffie Research Paper Joe Diffie entered a crowded field of talented, good looking male country vocalists in early 1990; despite the competition, the clever lyricist with what People called a booming tenor and wide open vocal range achieved stardom in a very short time, racking up an unprecedented series of chart successes. His appeal was due in great part to his ability to cross the boundary separating traditional country vocal styles from the pop and rock influenced sound that has increasingly come to dominate Nashville s musical output. Diffie is also versatile, a quality developed over years of diligent apprenticeship in several areas of the music business. Born in Duncan, Oklahoma, in 1958, Diffie had musical ambitions from a tender age. He has an early memory of his father listening to a record by country music giant George Jones and saying that nobody else could sing like that. And I thought, I can, Diffie recalled. My own faith has grown immensely over the years, and it is something that has been so integral in my growth that I cannot shy away from sharing it in abundance. God has revealed many things to me, one of which is that when I stop living to glorify myself, and instead glorify Him with my actions, He will bless that. It was a Saturday night, in the middle of a cold February. The year was 2011, and I was a sophomore in high school. My face had been painted in layers of bright blues and greys, my hair under a long, black wig that reached to my waist. My heart was pounding, just like it did before every performance. However, it was never stage fright. I loved the feeling of the hot, white spotlight, the hundreds of children sitting on the edges of their seats. I cherished the feeling of excitement that welled up in my throat as the overture swelled, the bass vibrating beneath my feet. I was in love with theater, and I poured my heart and time into every performance we gave. This performance was no exception. I was in a production of The Chronicles of Narnia The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. After being cast as the female lead The White Witch I had spent hours of dedicated preparation for the part. Emergency Plumbing Services Case Study How to Find Emergency Plumbing Services Five Questions to Ask It is common for homeowners to put plumbing issues in the back of their mind, until emergency plumbing services are needed. In an emergency, every second counts, especially in situations, such as a burst pipe or busted water heater. In emergency situations, it is essential that you hire a qualified plumber to avoid costly mistakes down the road. The best defense is to have plumbers in Seattle on hand before a disaster strikes, so in order to protect yourself, here are five questions to ask before making the decision to hire. Are You Licensed? The first question to ask when hiring potential emergency plumbing services, is are you licensed in Seattle? Not all areas require a license, so if they do not have one, make sure to ask if it is required. Licensed plumbers in Seattle must pass a test showing they know the current building codes and they are required to stay up to date on all building code changes. If a license is required and you hire an unlicensed plumber, the work will be considered illegal, which means the insurance company will not reimburse you and you may have to pay a fine to the city and/or county. Plato outlines the different aspects of government and why he believes an aristocracy would be better form of government. In book 8 Socrates starts to wrap up his depiction of a just city. He starts to break down the four unjust constitutions of the city and man. Timocracy, which is represented by the honor driven man who resembles and rules that sort of government. There is an oligarchy, ruled by a man driven by his necessary appetites. Democracy, in which the man is controlled by unnecessary appetites. And finally there is tyranny, which the man is driven by unlawful appetites. Socrates towards the end of book 8 break down how all these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In book 9 Plato discusses the aspects of the tyrannical man. He mentions that the tyrants are someone who is consumed by lawless desires. One question I have is the tyrannical man destined to be a tyrant because he has a noble democratic father? These desires lead men towards ghastly, shameless, criminal actions that are particularly bad for someone in an position of power. Socrates offers an example of a lawless desire is the desire to sleep with one s mother, something that is horrible to do in any society. It is made clear that all of us have lawless desires, which is indubitably true. The proof is that these desires occasionally come out at night, in our dreams, when the rational part of us is not on guard. But only the tyrannical man allows these desires to emerge in life while he is awake during the day. Plato s description continues, the tyrannical man is the son of the democratic man. His father is not lawless, but he does indulge unnecessary desires. Just like the father, the son is exposed to drones, men with lawless desires. However the father had his own oligarchic father s thriftiness to pull him toward the middle road of democracy. This is crucial for the balance one must have to be a ruler in society. Now this son brought up on the democratic ethos, moves further toward lawlessness. The father and entire household try to win him back, but the ultimate triumph of the lawless is inevitable. Not only did this compromise keep people from selecting a president, it also brought the changes in political, social, and economic climates in the South. It was one of the influential amendments passed in the constitution. It officially abolished and prohibited slavery and forced an ending to slavery all over the South. The Southern states that ... • 16. Women s Impact On Society Women have been a key part in United States history since the beginning, whether that means in economics, politics, or the social sphere. Women have continually been put below men as the second sex. However, without women every aspect of American life would be different. Women play a crucial role in consumerism, reform, and culture, which are all main parts of United States domestic life. A lot of women unintentionally participate in consumer culture and economics daily. In early America, women played an important part in consumer based boycotts. These included the boycotting of tea and cloth, which drastically helped Northern Americas become less economically dependent on Europe based products. Later in United States history, women were persuaded to buy items based on mass circulation magazine ads that were in popular in 1890 s. These ads convinced women to buy brand name items that promoted comfort for their household. The new products that consumers were buying also promoted leisure, as seen by places like New York City where department stores were becoming the new trend. For a long time in America, ads promoted traditional ideas of the ideal, nuclear family. This attracted more women to stores and became known as the culture of sentimentalism. During this time, the idea of having a household economy, where the women does the financial spending, while the husband makes the money became a well accepted idea. As consumer culture, really took off in the 1920 s, women ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Analysis Of Pearl s Universe Duha Salamah Professor Kolkachian 20 October 2015 PSYC1A Pearl s Universe Cartoon Network s Steven Universe is a lovable children s show that is quickly gaining immense popularity as well as ell deserved praise due to the show s avid representation of women, queer individuals, and people of color. Pearl, a protagonist on the show, is one of the powerful Rose Quartz closest followers as well as one of the last Gems on Earth to survive the war between the Crystal Gems (Rose s army) and the Homeworld Gems. Gems are a species that are characterized by their corresponding gemstone (Pearl s gemstone is a pearl, while Rose s is a quartz). All Gems are sexless and there seems to be an absence of sexual dimorphism in the species, however all Gems seem to have traits that are commonly associated with human femininity and actively respond to the pronouns she and her aside from Steven, who is Rose s half human half Gem son. Pearl lives with and fights along Garnet and Amethyst, the only other two Crystal Gems that survived the war, and Steven, Rose s son. It is abundantly clear that Pearl was/is still in love with Rose, proudly crediting herself as Rose s sole confidant and making sure her every act is for Rose and her legacy. Pearl s love for Rose eventually grows to the point of obsessive recklessness, continuously sacrificing herself and convincing herself that she does not matter all for Rose s sake. Many news outlets such as the New Yorker have provided information about the war but what stands out from the others are there covers. The New Yorker use many covers reflecting both on the war itself and on the impact of the conflict on American culture. From these two covers we can see how the New Yorker has chosen the repetition of war to portray these covers from this important cultural event, as well as which scenes were chosen for portrayal, can help to show how Americans at the time viewed the war itself, and its impact on their culture which of it were most important to people at the time. Published in September 5, 1942 by the same artist Constantine Alajalov, we can see by the first view of the cover on how the war has impacted the American industry. During the time of the war, many able bodied men were either getting trained or in combat and with the high demand of labor for war industries, many women for the first time have entered the work force performing jobs that usually only men can handle. From this cover we see both men and women taking their lunch breaks, the interesting part is how they re being represented. In one side we see the men all dispirited from their work in plain darken clothes, while we see the women sitting in a circle all talking and laughing dressed in bright colorful clothes. This possibly reflects the different attitudes toward their work of the two groups. The women depicted here seems very pleased with the work they re doing and helping as much as they can in the war, since before WWII they only been able to help in limited ways. On the other hand, the men working here have likely been rejected by the army, who would prefer to be fighting than working in a factory. Constantin Alajalov painted this picture possibly to show how it reflects the different attitudes toward work which the American people had based upon their gender and their situations, as well as some tensions in which the war has created. These two pictures have a deeper meaning within it, possibly the artist wanted to show how young soldiers would viewed if they joined and an outcome how the war effected the ... The plot focuses on an insecure and fearful accountant who testifies against a major mobster, sending him to prison. The mob wants revenge and she s the target. She enters a Witness Protection program, but an enforcer tracks her down. The goal of survival is clear and the stakes are life and death. There are several themes incorporated into the script about trust, revenge, justice, survival, and second chances. The plot also offers another coincidence with the idea that Megan s father was murdered and that Brown investigated it. Again, too many coincidences cause one to question the credibility of the plot. In this case, it s not clear how Megan s dad being murdered is relevant, or how it connects to the plotline. The backstory is left dangling for the audience. It s a serious backstory to have a parent murdered; yet there s no payoff for the reveal. Normally, a backstory has some emotional affect on the current storyline. For example, if Megan were home when her dad was killed and she was unable to protect and save him, then this could be a relevant inner conflict for her. She could carry the guilt about her father and now she has to learn to protect herself. Or in another example, if Megan were home when her dad was murdered, maybe she saw the killer and now years later he reappears. Regardless, the idea of the connection to Brown isn t clear and it s suggested to eliminate this connection unless there s a solid link to the present day storyline and the past. The opening sets the tone for a mobster story. It establishes that Nick is deadly. However, the scene isn t as tense or suspenseful as it could be. One reason for this is that the audience isn t emotionally invested in the owner of the bookshop and the dialogue and action doesn t create compelling enough tension. • 23. Cardiac Surgery With Cardiopulmonary Bypass Essay Introduction Cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) is one of the most widely recognized major surgical procedures worldwide. Renal failure is a noteworthy cause of morbidity and mortality after cardiac surgery.1,2 Acute kidney injury (AKI) occurs in about 20 40% of patients3 and is associated with a mortality rate of 8% compared with 0.9% in patients without AKI. AKI requiring hemodialysis in the postoperative period is uncommon (~ 1% to 5%), yet associated with a remarkably high mortality rate of 30% to 60%.4 (11 13). AKI increases the risk for ensuing chronic kidney disease and kidney failure, with its associated morbidity and mortality.5 Clinical prediction tools have been developed to estimate the possibility of cardiac surgery associated AKI (CSAAKI).8 10 These have recognized female gender, impaired left ventricular function, insulin requiring diabetes, emergency surgery, and abnormal baseline renal function as independent predictors of requirement for dialysis.23 Pathophysiological mechanisms of CSAAKI include decreased renal perfusion, lack of pulsatile flow, oxidative stress, hypothermia, atheroembolism, and inflammation 23. The main mechanism of injury is thought to be intraoperative ischemia reperfusion injury (IRI).20 Prolonged duration of cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) and its inflammatory response, and prolonged aortic cross clamping are the leading factors associated with an increased likelihood of cardiac ischemia reperfusion injury.22 Although ... Throughout the film three types of history occurred: political, economic, and military. The conclusion of the paper will be a restatement of the main ideas, and my personal opinion on the film. In the beginning of the movie, Michael Apted introduces William Wilberforce as a young abolitionist. William lives in a society that is racist and prejudice to anyone not of their skin color. Great Britain in the late 1700 s, was a society dominated by the upper class who opposed changes in their way of life. To achieve this they lived a glamorous life, looking down on those below them in the social order. At first William does not outright show his feeling about slavery but subtly shows it by being a worker of God. To him a worker of God was one who made decisions and based their actions upon what they believed God wanted. Comparison Of Classism In Desiree s Baby And A Rose For Emily Take everything you know about racism, sexism, and religionism and toss it out the window, because there s an impediment to prosperity that is often underlooked: Classism. Classism is a suppression which always has and always will continue to affect our everyday lives. The disparities that presently exist between the lower and higher classes form a condition where it is unlikely to allow for equality for anyone. The short stories A Rose of Emily, written by William Faulkner, and Desiree s Baby, written by Kate Chopin, offered several depictions of classism within a society. A Rose for Emily recounts the life of an isolated, aristocratic woman named Emily Grierson who symbolically represents the demise of the old Southern society. Similarly, Désirée s Baby portrays classism present in mid nineteenth century Southern society in conjunction with the inequalities that exist between race. Class prejudice plays an important role as it was behind the emergence of the characters unspeakable actions. In A Rose for Emily and Desiree s Baby, classism is emphasized and provokes arrogance, denial, and the demise of others. Denial is a recurring theme in both stories rendered by those who believe to be in a higher class. Similar to Massachusetts insurance reform, the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) also features insurance exchanges, individual and employer mandates, and expanded Medicaid coverage. Due to the similarity between the Massachusetts health reform and the Affordable Care Act, much can be learned from Massachusetts s experience on implementing health insurance coverage expansions and employer provided universal insurance coverage law. In other words, this case offers insight into how some businesses and their employees might react to federal law requirements. Several studies sought to investigate the effect of the universal health reform and its impact on the labor market outcomes, such as the unemployment rate and average wage (Buchmueller, 2013; Kolstad, 2012). However, they failed to take into account the potential legal loopholes in part time status, employer provided coverage and Medicaid, and the impact of companies size, even though studies have shown that employer provided regulations are not equally demanding to different businesses (Gruber, 2004).
