To Donate Your Organs or To Not? Organ donation is an increasing practice in the medical field,
which saves countless lives every year. Patients who are eligible for organ transplantation have
an organ in their body that has either failed or works improperly and requires a new organ to be
enable their body to work properly again. This problem can happen to people of any age from
young children all the way to the elderly. Organ donors, either after death or alive, supply these
people with a better functioning organ through donation. On the downside, there are not enough
people willing to donate as there are patients in need.
Every patient requiring an organ gets put on a list, where they wait for their opportunity to
receive an organ, but many people die due to the amount of time this takes. This amount of time
would dramatically decrease if more people were willing to donate. One single deceased organ
donor can save the lives of several different people and affect the lives of countless. Giving
someone a chance at a new healthy and happy life is honorable and commendable. On one side,
donating is interpreted as just giving a piece of lungs to another person, but to the receiver it s a
miracle and a life changing experience. Furthermore, organ donation is totally free of charge to the
donor and if a person donates after death many areas offer free cremation.
One of the most reputable arguments against organ donations is the believe that doctors or
nurses will not attempt to save your life as they would if you were not a donor. This believe is
completely false. A medical physician will always do absolutely everything in their ability to
save their patient(s) life. Against the rumors, treatment of a person who is registered to donate
will not differ from a person who is not registered. Specific documents, that tell the doctor if a
person is registered to donate organs or not, only allows the doctor to remove organs from a body
after being legally declared deceased, No physician can remove a person s organs prior to the legal
steps being taken beforehand and they will not pronounce someone dead if there is still a fighting
