Evaluation Of Performance Management Systems Essay
Evaluation of performance management systems (500 words) Recognition Business change and adapt
their goals and strategies all the time as the world of business changes rapidly. A very critical but
overlooked element of the renewal process is the impact of the businesses change has on the
employees behaviour and motivation. Managers must ensure that the rewards and recognition systems
are very carefully set aligned with operational goals and overall strategic. If the reward and
recognition system is misaligned with the objectives that the managers had in mind the result in
behaviour could hinder the organisation. The unanticipated actions may be a personal benefit for the
employee also may be beneficial to front line sales represents and floor managers but this moves the
organisation away from its overall goals. The challenge is to assess and implement an incentive
system that motivates employees to act in support of strategic and operational objectives. But how
does an operational manager or executive know when they have the right rewards and recognition
program, or if the one they have implemented is still having the desired effect? In addition to
measuring progress of employee performance toward corporate goals, well defined performance
measurement systems help gauge employee reception, understanding and buy in for reward systems.
This critical feedback can help managers make adjustments necessary to drive improvements and
avoid the unanticipated behaviours and

The Government Should Limit Advertising Aimed At Children
The Government Should Limit Advertising Aimed at Children
The government should exercise more control and limits on advertising that is aimed at children.
Children are the leaders of the future and the children watch on average two or more hours of
television a day. These are children s most formative years. When children form ideas that prove to be
substance of how they will think as adults.
There are several reasons why advertising aimed at young children should be banned. Advertisers and
marketers influence young children. Children are the future leaders of our world. Television
encourages them to become consumers and equate ownership of things with self worth. Thus, at an
early age, children are influenced to associate status and self worth with materialistic things. We are
producing young consumers rather that productive citizens who will add value to society. While the
government states its purpose for protecting children, in general terms, children are simply influenced
and cannot tell advertising agenda from the truth.
There are some specific and real problems that advertising can cause upon children (William A.
Ramsey). Fast food restaurant advertising it s influencing our children to be obese. Childhood obesity
around the world is causing worries, especially detrimental as its effect carries on into parenthood.
The ratio of children s who are overweight has approximately tripled in the same period, reaching
fourteen percent (Center for disease control

How Technology Is Affecting Families
October 13, 2015 my group class and I went to Galleria to observe the people. After watching several
families I came to the conclusion that technology is affecting families, during the observation families
were more on their cell phones stead of having a conversation with their families. The family look as
if they were stranger. They look with a very serious look. They did not take the time to have a
conversation. One of the kid was in his phone most of the time when he was with his family. I was
surprise because the parents did not said anything not even the parents took time to ask or said
anything. The table was in silent they just were looking around. Is very hard to understand that the
family that I observe did not make no connection. It was not the only family that didn t not have not
communication there was few more. My mother is a very old school when we are with the family she
doesn t want us in the phones or computers she said that family time is family time. I think that my
mom is right because most of the time we work and go to school. Most of the family don t have the
time to have a conversation with their families for the same reason because everyone is busy with
work.

Cultural Transformation Of Nokia Analysis
The cultural transformation of Nokia As the story of Nokia goes toward demise in the late 2000 s ,
they were a mobile handset industry giant . Their competitors seemingly struggled to make a device a
simple , convenient , durable or as easy to use as legendary as the device s most of us came to use
during their reign . Nokia clearly possessed majority of the market share during their time at the top
which was span over two decades. Companies such as Motorola were simply being steam rolled year

George Orwell Symbolism
Benjamin Franklin once said, Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary
safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Franklin, one of the United States Founding Fathers, talked
about a frightened electorate and acknowledged the negative repercussions that are caused by this
group. Furthermore, in 1984, George Orwell explores a world derived on hate, control, and repression
of the basic liberties of people. Citizens are manipulated into absolving themselves of independent
thought, forced to pursue loyalties to the Party. Benjamin Franklin s platitude is observed in the novel
through the use of symbolism, irony, and diction, and galvanizes the theme that forced fear leads to a
fierce blindness and can eventually ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One such example is the rat, a common motif in the story. When Julia and Winston were together in
the room, a rat appeared, which rattled Winston. He commented, Rats! In this room (144). Clearly,
Winston dislikes rats, and can go so far as to fear them. The Party uses this fear to their advantage and
tortures Winston in Room 101 to manipulate his thoughts about Julia, who he loved. The Party wanted
him to abandon all perceived loyalties except those towards the Party. Therefore, the rat symbolizes a
common fear in everyone. For Winston, it just so happens to be this animal. Those who deviate or are
thought to deviate from the established code of conduct undergo through this process of pain. The
usage of extreme methods to force a certain ideology into someone shows how much control the
government of Oceania exerts over its people, and that they do not hesitate to act on this power. Also,
another symbol of control used in the story is the telescreen. The telescreen is a device used in
Oceanic society that can both transmit and receive video and audio simultaneously. As a result, the
Party members must live carefully, in the assumption that every sound you made was overheard, and,

How Does Tim O Brien Use Syntax In The Things They Carried
By using syntax, repetition, and evidence, Tim O Brien builds an argument to convey the reality that
the soldiers in the Vietnam War had something to carry, both physically and emotionally.
In The Things They Carried , O Brien uses syntax to arrange his sentences in order to show the harsh
correlation between the weight of real and mental possessions. For example, O Brien first introduces
the 30 pound PRC scrambler radio, then immediately follows with the weight of memory. Appealing
to emotion by displaying that, like the heavy radio, the weight of memory also was a burden, but
something that they were forced to carry.
With the use of repetition, O Brien accomplishes to show the connection between the Vietnam soldiers

Analysis Of Everything That Rises Must Converge

Who We Are In This New World When reading Everything That Rises Must Converge by Flannery O
Conner, most of us will readily agree that it is a story about a young man and his mother. Where this
agreement usually ends is when we ask if this was O Conner s intended theme. Whereas some are
convinced that the relationship between mother and child is the main theme, others maintain that O
Conner was focusing on these characters adapting to social change during the Civil Rights era. I agree
with the latter, that the central conflict of the story is that of social change and how both the old and
new generations adapt to these changes. Julian s mother is one of the central characters in O Conner s
story that we understand to have seen the most social change during her lifetime. His mother s family
once owned two hundred slaves and their own land, which they ended up selling post slavery. Their
family s wealth diminished, Julian s mother raised him on her own while living in an apartment
building in what was once a good neighborhood, struggling to put her son through college. When
debating whether or not it was frivolous to have purchased a nice hat, Julian s mother states, With the
world in the mess it s in it s a wonder we enjoy anything. I tell you, the bottom rail is on the top (275).
This is a phrase that refers to the idea of black citizens gaining power in society post segregation, and
was originally coined post slavery. Julian s mother makes her prejudice apparent by implying the rise
of black citizens negatively impacts the quality of living for other members of society. Julian loathes
his mother s outlook on current society, noting that his mother doesn t know her current social
standing. When Julian s mother states, If you know who you are, you can go anywhere (275). Julian
replies harshly, Knowing who you are is good for one generation only. You haven t the foggiest idea
where you stand now or who you are (275). Julian describes his mother s life as struggling to act like a
Chestny without the Chestny goods, clinging to the standards of her old way of life. Julian describes
himself as saintly at times, an educated

Pigeonholing Research Paper
Growing up, I defied pigeonholing. I was one of two accelerated students in my grade, a two to three
sport athlete who started as a sophomore in soccer and basketball, a stagehand for the theater club,
part of student council and class president, a member of the math team, and that s just to start. I hung
out with the nerds, the jocks, the theater geeks, but the group I enjoyed my time the most with were
kids who my teachers labeled as troubled. I defied pigeonholing, but as they say, You are judged by
the company you keep. But what I came to realize was that, unlike everyone else in high school, these
so called troubled kids were usually labeled because of their families troubles not their own. Today I
keep to myself a lot more.

Pros And Cons Of Caging Hens
Caging hens is unacceptable and a barbaric way of keeping animals. In New Zealand, 80% of hens are
currently suffering in battery cages, living an unnatural lifestyle. This inhumane way of farming has to
stop as it s detrimental to the rights of hens and all animals to live and be treated without cruelty and I
believe it is simply unjust. Not only are these defenseless Hens killed, they are also denied the right to
move and walk, are arguably tortured and will never spread their wings. The ban of battery cages
needs to take a stronger stance as the phasing out of battery cages by 2022 serves only to make way
for colony cages which are just as cruel. Colony cages fail to meet the welfare of Hens and don t
provide them with the sufficient space they need. They re illegal ... Show more content on

I believe that the cost is well worth it because the welfare of animals is very important. The raise in
egg and poultry prices will have an impact on families all over New Zealand unless the government
subsidises the abolishment of battery farming and colony cages. If the government continues to keep
the prices the same as they are now while making NZ farms free range it will be a win/win situations
for both the welfare of animals and humans. The change in egg prices may not be as drastic for Kiwi
families as I have found there is just a mere $0.24 difference between a single size 7 factory farmed
egg and free range eggs at countdown. Is a couple of dollars per dozen eggs really worth the
exploitation of hens? Caged eggs may be cheaper but it comes at the expense of Animal welfare. New
Zealand needs to abolish not only battery cages but colony cages also. The effects these farming
methods have on hens is undeniably disgusting and needs to be stopped. In order for us to ensure
farmers are treating their hens ethically, routinely checks and stricter rules need to be

Neurology Career Research Paper
Who can say if it is we who make the choice, or the choice that makes us? I find myself asking this
question in the context of my pursuit of a career in neurology. In retrospect, I have made many
choices, but choices have also made me. I am the child that was born in Lebanon, the boy that

challenges. At this time, I write to make a choice. I choose neurology. I choose neurology as my first,

organizations involve themselves in environmental interaction and activism as well. In Gainesville,

The Innocent By Richard Wright And Maria
This ethical analysis will define the hierarchical societal pressures and psychological torment that
validates acts of crime committed by Bigger Thomas in Native Son by Richard Wright and Maria in
Ian McEwan s novel The Innocent. In Wright s novel, the main protagonist, Bigger Thomas, is a
twenty year old that is prone to crime because of being marginalized in a racist white society that will
not allow him to advance himself. After accidently killing Mary Dalton, Bigger s fear of being caught
is part of psychological torment that partially vindicates him from the crime. This is also true of Maria
s murder of Otto to protect Leonard from getting killed during a fistfight, since Otto had
psychologically and physically abused her. Maria s case is more compelling than Bigger s, but they
both share the underlying hierarchical abuse of society and the psychological torment that vindicates
the traumatic outburst that lead to murder. These criminal acts define certain circumstances in which
crimes of passions are vindicated in relation to the abuse and mental torment of the perpetrator of the
crime. In essence, an ethical analysis of Bigger Thomas and Maria will definer the vindication of
certain crimes due to hierarchical oppression and psychological torment in crimes of passion. Fletcher
s literary allusion to Shakespeare s Henry VI defines the underlying social circumstances that define
the validity and invalidity of crimes of passion that occur within certain legal

Robotics Impact On Healthcare
ROBOTICS IMPACT ON HEALTHCARE Robotics can be virtual and/or mechanical objects that we
use in everyday activities. Even though robots have been around since 1960 s. In the healthcare field
we have become more dependent upon them since the 1980 s. Robots have been used to assist people

intervention with giving medication, assisting kids with autism, transferring and lifting patients.
Although robots have made some of the healthcare fields task easier there can be questions with such
technology which can impact ethical policy and non human touch. In addition to providing hands on
patient care, robots can also help lift patients. Some Japanese inventors created the Robot for
Interactive Body Assistance . This robot is used to transport patients weighing up to 134 lbs. to
bedsides and wheelchairs using built in sensors and foam support technology (Dean, 2009). In
America researchers have tested robot called a Nursebot on elderly patients, this was not very
effective. The problems with the Nursebot was it s ability to perform task such as giving patients bath

Examples Of Media Bias
Why So Biased? The media overtime, ever since the beginning of news reporting on campaigns and
elections, has become biased. With journalists having an unshakeable opinion of a specific person
leads to them writing biased articles or papers. Many readers believe certain news outlets are too
biased and refuse to even read articles that come from that station or watch a certain news channel,
this leads to many believing that the readers are biased and not the journalists. However, this is not the
case. Looking at many journalists it is incredibly clear that they try and persuade their readers against
one candidate and towards another. Through the development of new ways to spread news, such as
television, weblogs and news stations, the media has become biased and tries to persuade readers
against certain candidates and towards another. Many argue that the media does its job when it comes
to representing both sides when reporting on elections and campaigns. They ... Show more content on

When Did Samuel Wrote The Book Of Judges
The book of Judges is an extremely interesting book in the Old Testament that explains to readers that
sin or failing to follow God s law will result in punishment. While there is no biblical clarification of
who wrote the book of Judges, multiple sources suggest that Samuel was the author. Many come to
this conclusion because of the use of the phrase in those days there was no king in Israel (Judges 17:6;
18:1; 19:1; 21:25) this indicates the book s composition happened during a time when Israel had a
king. While this does not solidify the author s identity, there are verses throughout Judges that provide
contextual clues alluding to Samuel being the author of the book. For the sake of brevity, one can
conclude Samuel was the author. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Necessity of Routine Dental Examinations Essay examples
Routine Dental Examinations Visiting a dentist at least twice a year for a routine examination is
recommended to find dental problems early. A knowledgeable dentist understands how to examine the
facial structure, neck and mouth for abnormalities such as growths that indicate cancer. During the
examination, the dentist can quickly fill tiny cavities or remove hardened plaque. Despite brushing
carefully each day, many individuals miss tartar buildup below the gumline or between teeth. The
dentist can remove the sticky plaque with scraping devices to prevent bacteria from causing gum
inflammation and enamel erosion. If the dentist notices additional problems, further treatment is
necessary. Bad Breath Many patients visit a dentist ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bacteria from plaque and tartar are the primary causes of decayed tooth enamel. Bacteria can destroy
enamel causing an individual to experience pain from inside the tooth where tiny nerve endings are
located. Tooth decay occurs between teeth, on biting surfaces or near dental roots. A dentist can
usually restore a tooth with a small cavity by using a specialized drill to remove damaged enamel and
bacteria. After removing the decay and sanitizing the area, a restoration is necessary to support the
outer layer of a tooth. Gum Inflammation Individuals experiencing gum inflammation should see a
dentist quickly for treatment. The typical signs of gingivitis of the gums are swollen tissue, frequent
bleeding or discomfort while chewing food. Immediate intervention from a dentist is required when
gum tissue has a chronic infection. Untreated gingivitis can lead to loss of teeth due to root or pulp
infection. In addition to a visual examination of teeth and gums, a dentist will require medical imaging
tests to look at underlying structures including bone tissue. Treatment of gingivitis includes removing
bacteria from the teeth, roots and gums with curettage, planing and scaling techniques. Dental Trauma
A dental emergency requires quick thinking and action to save a tooth. A dentist is always available to
assist with dental emergencies immediately. If a tooth is knocked out of the mouth by a sport injury or

How Can Inanna Be Considered A Mother Goddess
Often considered to be one of the most well known goddesses of Sumerian myth, Inanna can also be
considered one of the most complex. In order to analyse whether or not she can be considered a
mother goddess, the concept itself must first be defined. While term mother goddess does not
necessarily apply to the religions of the last few centuries, agriculturally based civilizations of the
ancient world. Maintenance of fertility was of prime importance, and they were often associated with
the earth. They incorporated characteristics of human motherhood but on a divine scale, becoming
Great Mothers , who had power over the production and fertility of the land and was responsibly for
the fecundity and protection of the people. Inanna appears consistently in in art and myth throughout
the Sumerian world. Throughout this essay, the characteristics demonstrated within these sources will
be compared to the goddess Isis, who in both Egyptian and Greco Roman religion was associated with
divine motherhood. These deities are not one dimensional, and neither is the concept of the mother
goddess . Both Isis and Inanna can be considered to fall on the pole of that of the Terrible Mother .

Analysis Of William Du Bois s The Soul Of The Black Folk...
Historiography has changed immensely since the beginning of the historian profession. Times of
conflict can result in the approaches of historiography changing in a short period. By the end of the
nineteenth century, he writing of American history had changed from consensus to progressivism. This
opened up a new form of writing and opportunities to include different approaches or fields, such as
science, economics, political science, and sociology, to help the understanding of the topic. In 1903,
William Du Bois, influenced by Pragmatism, wrote about the Civil War and how it was a result of
economic and social factors of African Americans in his book The Soul of the Black Folk. Then,
Charles and Mary Beard wrote The Rise of American Civilization in 1927, reconsidering and adding
economic factors and the inclusion of women s roles into the history of the American Revolution.
Then, after the Second World War, the critical approach was seen as insulting, and historians started to
take a consensus approach again. One of the most influential consensus historians of this time was
Daniel Boorstin, who wrote The Genius of American Politics . This book helped explain the American
Revolution as a means of theory failure by showing how liberal also known as progressive historians
exaggerate on certain events or people that impacted the American Revolution, such as the Declaration
of Independence and Thomas Jefferson. He sees the American Revolution results were a positive

path. This is with the exception of Psychology (and related areas of Philosophy).
I ve had an intrinsic obsession with Psychology long before knowing of the academic discipline, and
always wondered what made people act so differently from one another, yet so similar in differing
mannerisms. At age 6, this developed further when I tried resolving the issues causing my parents
constant arguing. I got them both to sit down, giving each a piece of paper, made them take deep
breaths then jot down the reasons making them discontent the other. I then got them to put what they
liked about the other before swapping the papers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Nanotechnology And Its Effects On The Field Of Drug...
Nanomedicine, the application of nanotechnology in medicine has attracted a great deal of attention in
the field of drug delivery and tissue engineering over the past few decades. This increasing interest in
nanomedicine is driven by its potential to revolutionize the treatment of some prevalent global disease
such as cancer, cardiovascular disorders, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and diabetes in safer and
more effective ways [1, 2]. Nanotechnology refers to the engineering of materials at the atomic,
molecular, and supramolecular levels in at least one dimension from 1 100 nanometers [3]. The
manipulation of matter at the nanoscale to fabricate materials with modified and new properties is a

The latter refers to the targeted drug delivery, which is a key aspect of nanomedicine. Targeted
delivery is to deliver therapeutic agents in the right concentration, in the right time to the right site.
The idea of targeted drug delivery is not new and dates back to 1906, when for the first time Paul
Ehrlich disseminated the concept of a magic bullet [14]. Almost after a century researching on targeted
drug delivery, the magic bullet is still a challenge to implement in the clinic. The challenge involves
finding the appropriate therapeutic agents, targeting moieties, and pharmaceutical carriers [15]. An
ideal pharmaceutical vehicle would be biocompatible, biodegradable, non toxic and non
immunogenic. In addition, it should not be recognized by the host s defense

The Story of J.D. Salinger
The Story of J. D. Salinger J. D. Salinger became one of the most popular and known American
authors in America today. Up to this day students from all over the country have read and purchased
the novel The Catcher in the Rye which was a novel that was not so long ago controversial due to
vulgar language, sexual references, and unacceptable behavior; parents were concerned that J. D.
Salinger s novel was going to influence their children. Salinger was one of many authors that stood
out more from a group of authors that wrote simply about society. Salinger on the other hand criticised
the society by using the word phony most of the time. The word phony meant fake, false, and
fraudulent and by the 1950 s the word became used more and more frequently. Some of Salinger s
famous pieces of work like Nine Stories, Franny and Zooey, The Catcher in the Rye , and Raise High
the Roof Beam, Carpenters and Seymour: An Introduction presented themes such as love, war, death,
and the reminiscing of something. The themes widely connected to J. D. Salinger by reason of his
personal experiences and character traits . The success of J. D. Salinger was reached by personally
experiencing the drafting to war and actively writing about his surroundings.
Jerome David Salinger, the talented author born in New York had a decent stable life growing up with
both of his parents and sister. Jerome David Salinger lived comfortable throughout his childhood.

Reflection Paper On Counseling
Session One: I administered the A.P.S. and did a data inventory. She was quite interested but skeptical
of what information would come from the profile. Rebecca is in a local seminary studying Christian
counseling. We have had many opportunities to compare the training we are receiving. I have been
honored to proofread and advise her on papers. She is extremely proficient in the writing and research
process, and she has helped me grow in that process. Session Two: We began with prayer. Rebecca is
29 years old and single. She is an energetic young lady who is working two part time jobs in addition
to going to a local seminary working toward a Masters in Christian Counseling. She has been through
a traumatic early life. Approval has been an issue that she has been facing in her life. She was
converted at age sixteen and did not receive approval from her parents at all concerning Christianity.
Her parents are atheists along with a father that has been and still is an alcoholic. He is an information
technology expert, and because of the extreme availability of positions, he has moved the family many
times. Because he is very perceptive of when employers are finding his problem, he changes jobs

Psychoanalytic Personality In Lord Of The Flies
Psychoanalytic Personality Essay William Golding is a very strange man. The types of stories that he
wrote are very demonic, strange, and very insane to the reader. His demonic ways of life all lead to
him writing the novel, Lord of the Flies. Throughout the book, William Golding shows examples of
Freud s characteristics of the three different types of personality. The three characters that show these
examples are stranded on an island and showing whether or not they will have the civilized side of
them left. ( Id, Ego and Super ego ) The three characters on the island are Jack, Ralph, and Piggy.
The first personality is ID. ID operates on the pleasure principle which is the idea that every impulse
should be satisfied immediately, regardless of the consequences. When the ID achieves its demands,
they then experience pleasure. When it is denied, they then experience unpleasure or tension.
(McLeod) The best character from Lord of the Flies that fits this personality is Jack. Jack is willing to
do anything for his clan of wild hooligans and that even means killing anything to protect them, for
example killing the beast before it kills them all. Also, he is eager to make rules and punish those who
break them, he makes others follow them but he doesn t follow those same rules that he creates.
(Golding ) The other two characters are nothing like Jack but they do care about the others like Jack
does.
The next personality of the three is Ego. Freud s famous motto for

The Snake River, Yellowstone National Park
As the gentle Colorado sun peaked through the hotel blinds, serenely flooding the room, I dreamt that
I was drowning. My hands are frantically grasping for a flipped raft, my body haphazardly tossing and
twisting through the rushing current like a rag doll as my mind flashes with some last fleeting images
of my terrified family a few feet away. And right before the water closes in, I catch a quick glimpse of
the sign directly above me Snake River, Yellowstone National Park.
Coming to a conclusion that whitewater rafting down the Snake River was one of the worst decisions
my family has ever made, I sulked, and whined, and complained the whole walk down to the docks.
My parents, the guides, and a girl about my age in our group, all told me, don t worry, it ll be fun. But
their efforts were pointless, and I picked up on a conversation behind me, where someone was
casually talking about the overwhelming chance the raft would flip over. Nevertheless, everyone
apparently believed it was something I would look back on and maybe even write a personal narrative
about.
Suddenly, in the middle of all that sulking and whining and complaining, I found myself in a wetsuit
and oversized life jacket, glaring at the side of a roaring river, scowling at the wispy trees that seemed
to be waving goodbye while they whispered about my tragic, inevitable death. I barely caught the tail
end of his speech as the guide droned on about, and that is how you lift someone out of the water

Essay about Don t Touch My Mama
Don t touch my Doritos. For the 2010 Super Bowl, Doritos put out a commercial that was titled House
Rules . In this commercial a young man comes to take a beautiful young, single mother out for their
first date. While the mother is out of the room putting up the flowers the man brought, the man sits
down to socialize with the son. As the man sits down he picks up one of the son s Doritos, and just as
he is about to put the chip in his mouth the son slaps him. After slapping the man the son says, Don t
touch my mama, and don t touch my Doritos. This 2010 Super Bowl Doritos commercial is an
example of visual rhetoric, because it appeals to the audience using pathos, ethos, and what the camera
focuses to not just persuade the viewers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another technique this commercial uses is what the camera focuses on. When the camera is focused
on the mother s back side from the mans point of view the creators are telling the audience what is
really on the man s mind, and why the son says don t touch my mama. The creators do the same thing
with the bowl of Doritos. The camera also zooms in on the game controller in the boy s hand. Through
putting the focus on the boy dropping the game controller, the creators lets the audience know that
things have just gotten serious and that something is about to happen. Aside from the different types of
appeals, pathos and ethos, and camera focus; the creators are sending a couple of messages with the
son s actions. The first message is to get your own Doritos and not take someone else s. This message
comes across when the boy slaps the man and tells him to put his Dorito chip back in the bowl. By the
son not being willing to share even one of his Doritos, the creators are telling the viewers not to share
their Doritos with any one. The second message is that Doritos are just as important as mothers. The
viewers can see this as the boy not only tells the man not to touch his mother but also to keep his
hands off the boys Doritos. By doing this the boy in a way puts the Doritos on the same level of is
mother making the chips just as import as the woman who gave birth to him. These techniques and
hidden messages of the commercial make the commercial

Workplace Safety In The Workplace
Workplace safety is a big deal. If you don t think so, take a look at the research done by the
Occupational Safety and Health Organization (OSHA).American employers pay out an average of $1
billion per week for workman s compensation fees. Mind you, this doesn t include medical and legal
fees that incur. Staying on top of the safety aspect in your workplace is not only essential because you
don t want to see anyone get hurt. It s essential because it s best for the financial health of your
business. When it comes to workplace safety, employee engagement needs to be placed high on the
list of topics to approach. This is the case for a few reasons.
1.Perception
It s often stated that perception is everything. People filter information through the lens of their own
perceptions. Whether their perception is healthy or not, they re bound to look at it through that lens.
So, as an employer that s desiring employee engagement, it s important to consider a person s
perception. While you re not responsible for every little detail of why people perceive information the
way that they do, you do need to take it into account. For example, if something happens with a
machine breaking down and it s the fault of a particular employee, the initial feelings might be mixed
with anger and frustration. However, it s best to calm down, get collected and face the issue with a
cool head. If you get behind the computer and type an angry email with all caps, the perception is that
you re angry,

Comparing Soul Food and A Raisin in the Sun Essay
Comparing Soul Food and A Raisin in the Sun
Lorraine Hansberry s A Raisin in the Sun and George Tillman s box office hit Soul Food explore the
hardships and trials of black family life, and through the characters, setting, and theme of both the
story and the film, the issue of class and the search for community is discussed. The theme indicated
in these stories is the search for community. Mama Younger wanted her family to come closer. The
more she tried, the farther apart they became. During her struggle, she encountered many obstacles
including her own son s beliefs, but she did not let them curve her appetite to gain higher status in
society. Similarly, in Soul Food, Mama Joe struggled with keeping her family together, ... Show more

Beneatha s second thoughts about becoming a doctor when Agasai asks her to go to Africa with him
and Bird s decision to go to work when her husband Lem tells her that she doesn t have to displays the

follow their dreams no matter what happens. Lem, the son in law of Mother Joe, mirrors Walter Lee s
character. Walter Lee is undependable and known for getting into trouble with money. These negative
attributes also pertain to Lem, played by Mekhi Phifer. These men are given the chance to show their
trustworthiness to their families but always fail in the end. In the Younger family, Travis is the glue
that keeps everyone bound together. This is true also for Ahmad, the glue of the Joseph family. These
families thrive on the future of these two youngest characters. The quarreling and bickering that
occurs in these families are for the love of the two young boys and their welfare. The similarities these
two families have make the comparison of these works simple to understand and to relate to. The
settings of these narratives are alike in several ways. First, both are tales of African American middle
class families living in south side Chicago. The whole family lives together in both stories, which

Freedom iin Kate Chopin s The Awakening Essay
Finding Freedom in The Awakening
In her novel, The Awakening, Kate Chopin shows Edna Pontellier¹s confrontations with society, her
imprisonment in marriage and Edna¹s exploration of her own sexuality. Chopin also portrays Edna as
a rebel, who after her experiences at Grand Isle wants to live a full and a free life and not to follow the
rules of society. Edna¹s life ends in her suicide, but her death does not come as a surprise. Chopin
foreshadows Edna¹s death by the use of nature and Edna¹s connection to it; also by the use of symbols,
especially the symbolic meaning of a bird; and by the use of many different characters in the novel,
such as Robert Lebrun, Mademoiselle Reisz and Madame Ratignolle.
Edna is a very romantic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mademoiselle Reisz tells Edna that people are cruel and if Edna doesn¹t feel strong enough, she will
be like a weakling bruised, exhausted, fluttering back to earth (533). This conversation foreshadows
Edna¹s lack of strength and her death. As Edna takes her last swim, she sees the bird with a broken
wing , falling down to the water (558). Edna feels weak; she falls down into the waters of Grand Isle.
When Edna meets Robert Lebrun at Grand Isle, she experiences an awakening from her life long,
stupid dream , as she recalls her life (553). She is ready to give her heart to Robert, but he flees Grand
Isle and Edna before he ruins his reputation as a good Creole . Robert knows that the Creole husband
is never jealous about the harmless flirting and as a good Creole , Robert cannot go beyond these
social boundaries (475). Robert follows the rules of his society; his departure foreshadows his future
actions towards Edna. She returns to her pigeon house and finds that Robert is not waiting for her and
the house is empty (556). Robert is gone again. Edna remembers the warning of Mademoiselle Reisz
about the cruelty of society. Edna is scared to face the cruelty alone. Edna feels that without Robert by
her side she is helpless. Edna doesn¹t want anyone near her except Robert (557) but he cannot be a
good Creole and be with Edna. Even if Robert would be

Motivator Factors Of A Burnout
Burnout
A burnout refers to the distressed psychological state an employee might experience after being on the
job for a period of time. Employees who suffer from a burnout are emotionally exhausted and have
low work motivation (i.e. possessing little energy and enthusiasm for the job). Burnouts are the results
of working intensely with other people. A study in 2000 done by Bakker, Schaufeli, Sixma, Bosveld
and Van Dierendonck found that patient demands are associated with burnout in physicians and led to
emotional exhaustion (e.g. absence and fatigue), depersonalization (e.g. hostility towards others or
callous and uncaring treatment of clients and other people) and reduced personal accomplishment (e.g.
low motivation and poor performance).

For example, the company can give bonuses and rewards to motivate the consultants to work harder.
This can be supported by Herzberg (1968), in his two factor theory. There are two categories of needs:
Hygiene and Motivator factors. Hygiene factor include pay, supervision, and organisational policies.
Lack of this factor would lead to dissatisfaction. However, presence of this factor would not
necessarily lead to satisfaction because these are the basic, foundational needs for employees. The
next factor, motivator factor, includes achievement, recognition, responsibility, and nature of job itself.
Presence of this factor would lead to job satisfaction. However, absence of this factor leads to lack of
satisfaction and not dissatisfaction. Thus, giving rewards and bonuses (a form of recognition and
achievement) would allow these employees to be more satisfied with their jobs. They would also be
motivated to perform better at work and this subsequently leads to better overall

  • 2. Evaluation Of Performance Management Systems Essay Evaluation of performance management systems (500 words) Recognition Business change and adapt their goals and strategies all the time as the world of business changes rapidly. A very critical but overlooked element of the renewal process is the impact of the businesses change has on the employees behaviour and motivation. Managers must ensure that the rewards and recognition systems are very carefully set aligned with operational goals and overall strategic. If the reward and recognition system is misaligned with the objectives that the managers had in mind the result in behaviour could hinder the organisation. The unanticipated actions may be a personal benefit for the employee also may be beneficial to front line sales represents and floor managers but this moves the organisation away from its overall goals. The challenge is to assess and implement an incentive system that motivates employees to act in support of strategic and operational objectives. But how does an operational manager or executive know when they have the right rewards and recognition program, or if the one they have implemented is still having the desired effect? In addition to measuring progress of employee performance toward corporate goals, well defined performance measurement systems help gauge employee reception, understanding and buy in for reward systems. This critical feedback can help managers make adjustments necessary to drive improvements and avoid the unanticipated behaviours and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Government Should Limit Advertising Aimed At Children The Government Should Limit Advertising Aimed at Children The government should exercise more control and limits on advertising that is aimed at children. Children are the leaders of the future and the children watch on average two or more hours of television a day. These are children s most formative years. When children form ideas that prove to be substance of how they will think as adults. There are several reasons why advertising aimed at young children should be banned. Advertisers and marketers influence young children. Children are the future leaders of our world. Television encourages them to become consumers and equate ownership of things with self worth. Thus, at an early age, children are influenced to associate status and self worth with materialistic things. We are producing young consumers rather that productive citizens who will add value to society. While the government states its purpose for protecting children, in general terms, children are simply influenced and cannot tell advertising agenda from the truth. There are some specific and real problems that advertising can cause upon children (William A. Ramsey). Fast food restaurant advertising it s influencing our children to be obese. • 4. How Technology Is Affecting Families October 13, 2015 my group class and I went to Galleria to observe the people. After watching several families I came to the conclusion that technology is affecting families, during the observation families were more on their cell phones stead of having a conversation with their families. The family look as if they were stranger. They look with a very serious look. They did not take the time to have a conversation. One of the kid was in his phone most of the time when he was with his family. I was surprise because the parents did not said anything not even the parents took time to ask or said anything. The table was in silent they just were looking around. Is very hard to understand that the family that I observe did not make no connection. It was not the only family that didn t not have not communication there was few more. My mother is a very old school when we are with the family she doesn t want us in the phones or computers she said that family time is family time. I think that my mom is right because most of the time we work and go to school. Most of the family don t have the time to have a conversation with their families for the same reason because everyone is busy with work. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Their competitors seemingly struggled to make a device a simple , convenient , durable or as easy to use as legendary as the device s most of us came to use during their reign . Nokia clearly possessed majority of the market share during their time at the top which was span over two decades. Companies such as Motorola were simply being steam rolled year after year. • 6. George Orwell Symbolism Benjamin Franklin once said, Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Franklin, one of the United States Founding Fathers, talked about a frightened electorate and acknowledged the negative repercussions that are caused by this group. Furthermore, in 1984, George Orwell explores a world derived on hate, control, and repression of the basic liberties of people. Citizens are manipulated into absolving themselves of independent thought, forced to pursue loyalties to the Party. Benjamin Franklin s platitude is observed in the novel through the use of symbolism, irony, and diction, and galvanizes the theme that forced fear leads to a fierce blindness and can eventually ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One such example is the rat, a common motif in the story. When Julia and Winston were together in the room, a rat appeared, which rattled Winston. He commented, Rats! In this room (144). Clearly, Winston dislikes rats, and can go so far as to fear them. The Party uses this fear to their advantage and tortures Winston in Room 101 to manipulate his thoughts about Julia, who he loved. The Party wanted him to abandon all perceived loyalties except those towards the Party. Therefore, the rat symbolizes a common fear in everyone. For Winston, it just so happens to be this animal. Those who deviate or are thought to deviate from the established code of conduct undergo through this process of pain. The usage of extreme methods to force a certain ideology into someone shows how much control the government of Oceania exerts over its people, and that they do not hesitate to act on this power. Also, another symbol of control used in the story is the telescreen. The telescreen is a device used in Oceanic society that can both transmit and receive video and audio simultaneously. • 7. How Does Tim O Brien Use Syntax In The Things They Carried By using syntax, repetition, and evidence, Tim O Brien builds an argument to convey the reality that the soldiers in the Vietnam War had something to carry, both physically and emotionally. In The Things They Carried , O Brien uses syntax to arrange his sentences in order to show the harsh correlation between the weight of real and mental possessions. For example, O Brien first introduces the 30 pound PRC scrambler radio, then immediately follows with the weight of memory. Appealing to emotion by displaying that, like the heavy radio, the weight of memory also was a burden, but something that they were forced to carry. With the use of repetition, O Brien accomplishes to show the connection between the Vietnam soldiers and the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Analysis Of Everything That Rises Must Converge Heather Chesbro Instructor Kim Socha Freshman Comp., sec. 34 14 September 2017 Who We Are In This New World When reading Everything That Rises Must Converge by Flannery O Conner, most of us will readily agree that it is a story about a young man and his mother. Where this agreement usually ends is when we ask if this was O Conner s intended theme. Whereas some are convinced that the relationship between mother and child is the main theme, others maintain that O Conner was focusing on these characters adapting to social change during the Civil Rights era. I agree with the latter, that the central conflict of the story is that of social change and how both the old and new generations adapt to these changes. Julian s mother is one of the central characters in O Conner s story that we understand to have seen the most social change during her lifetime. His mother s family once owned two hundred slaves and their own land, which they ended up selling post slavery. Their family s wealth diminished, Julian s mother raised him on her own while living in an apartment building in what was once a good neighborhood, struggling to put her son through college. When debating whether or not it was frivolous to have purchased a nice hat, Julian s mother states, With the world in the mess it s in it s a wonder we enjoy anything. I tell you, the bottom rail is on the top (275). This is a phrase that refers to the idea of black citizens gaining power in society post segregation, and was originally coined post slavery. Julian s mother makes her prejudice apparent by implying the rise of black citizens negatively impacts the quality of living for other members of society. Julian loathes his mother s outlook on current society, noting that his mother doesn t know her current social standing. When Julian s mother states, If you know who you are, you can go anywhere (275). Julian replies harshly, Knowing who you are is good for one generation only. You haven t the foggiest idea where you stand now or who you are (275). Julian describes his mother s life as struggling to act like a Chestny without the Chestny goods, clinging to the standards of her old way of life. Julian describes himself as saintly at times, an educated ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Pigeonholing Research Paper Growing up, I defied pigeonholing. I was one of two accelerated students in my grade, a two to three sport athlete who started as a sophomore in soccer and basketball, a stagehand for the theater club, part of student council and class president, a member of the math team, and that s just to start. I hung out with the nerds, the jocks, the theater geeks, but the group I enjoyed my time the most with were kids who my teachers labeled as troubled. I defied pigeonholing, but as they say, You are judged by the company you keep. But what I came to realize was that, unlike everyone else in high school, these so called troubled kids were usually labeled because of their families troubles not their own. Today I keep to myself a lot more. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Pros And Cons Of Caging Hens Caging hens is unacceptable and a barbaric way of keeping animals. In New Zealand, 80% of hens are currently suffering in battery cages, living an unnatural lifestyle. This inhumane way of farming has to stop as it s detrimental to the rights of hens and all animals to live and be treated without cruelty and I believe it is simply unjust. Not only are these defenseless Hens killed, they are also denied the right to move and walk, are arguably tortured and will never spread their wings. The ban of battery cages needs to take a stronger stance as the phasing out of battery cages by 2022 serves only to make way for colony cages which are just as cruel. Colony cages fail to meet the welfare of Hens and don t provide them with the sufficient space they need. They re illegal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I believe that the cost is well worth it because the welfare of animals is very important. The raise in egg and poultry prices will have an impact on families all over New Zealand unless the government subsidises the abolishment of battery farming and colony cages. If the government continues to keep the prices the same as they are now while making NZ farms free range it will be a win/win situations for both the welfare of animals and humans. The change in egg prices may not be as drastic for Kiwi families as I have found there is just a mere $0.24 difference between a single size 7 factory farmed egg and free range eggs at countdown. Is a couple of dollars per dozen eggs really worth the exploitation of hens? Caged eggs may be cheaper but it comes at the expense of Animal welfare. New Zealand needs to abolish not only battery cages but colony cages also. The effects these farming methods have on hens is undeniably disgusting and needs to be stopped. In order for us to ensure farmers are treating their hens ethically, routinely checks and stricter rules need to be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I find myself asking this question in the context of my pursuit of a career in neurology. In retrospect, I have made many choices, but choices have also made me. I am the child that was born in Lebanon, the boy that witnessed war, the teenager that got stuck out of his country alone for a while, the young adult that fled his country, and the matured adult who stopped running away from hardship and faced his challenges. They achieve this goal through social involvement and activism. Some religious organizations involve themselves in environmental interaction and activism as well. In Gainesville, there is Tibetan Buddhist meditation center called the Gainesville Karma Thegsum Choling. The Gainesville Karma Thegsum Choling studies and practices Karma Kagyu, one of the four main schools of Tibetan Buddhism. Some core beliefs and values found in Tibetan Buddhism are spiritual growth, spiritual awakeness, and daily practice. • 13. The Innocent By Richard Wright And Maria This ethical analysis will define the hierarchical societal pressures and psychological torment that validates acts of crime committed by Bigger Thomas in Native Son by Richard Wright and Maria in Ian McEwan s novel The Innocent. In Wright s novel, the main protagonist, Bigger Thomas, is a twenty year old that is prone to crime because of being marginalized in a racist white society that will not allow him to advance himself. After accidently killing Mary Dalton, Bigger s fear of being caught is part of psychological torment that partially vindicates him from the crime. This is also true of Maria s murder of Otto to protect Leonard from getting killed during a fistfight, since Otto had psychologically and physically abused her. Maria s case is more compelling than Bigger s, but they both share the underlying hierarchical abuse of society and the psychological torment that vindicates the traumatic outburst that lead to murder. Times of conflict can result in the approaches of historiography changing in a short period. By the end of the nineteenth century, he writing of American history had changed from consensus to progressivism. This opened up a new form of writing and opportunities to include different approaches or fields, such as science, economics, political science, and sociology, to help the understanding of the topic. In 1903, William Du Bois, influenced by Pragmatism, wrote about the Civil War and how it was a result of economic and social factors of African Americans in his book The Soul of the Black Folk. Then, Charles and Mary Beard wrote The Rise of American Civilization in 1927, reconsidering and adding economic factors and the inclusion of women s roles into the history of the American Revolution. Then, after the Second World War, the critical approach was seen as insulting, and historians started to take a consensus approach again.
