Stein And Stryker Summary
Stein and Stryker respond to two important challenges within the field: Stein responds to the struggle
of finding a methodology of historiography that allows for a distinction to be drawn between popular
conceptions and lived experiences of sex, gender, sexuality, love, marriage and family, while Stryker
unravels the complexity of the register of the discourse, specifically when defining the taxonomies of
gender, sex and sexuality.
The former is significant because given that sexuality and sex were considered to be parts of the
private sphere of the lives of individuals, it is hard to find reliable, primary sources on which to base a
historical timeline on. In addition, finding sources originating from both institutions of power and
individuals

Islamic Extremists Essay
Islamic Extremists
Nearly everyone has heard about Islam and the Arab world. In addition, many countries have already
faced issues with the Muslim believers. Islam has caused problems, terrorist attacks, anti democracy
all over the world. They were also very successful in sending a message of who they truly are. People
who are literally obedient to the Islamic faith are called Islamic Extremists. People, who are of the
Islamic faith however desire to survive in peace without tribulations are not considered obedient or
dutiful to the Islamic faith, these people are called moderate Muslims. Therefore, the Islamic religious
extremists are the major group in Islam who follow the Qur an word for word and create extreme

For example the Muslim Brotherhood has the word politics in their dictionary, which means they can
have political relationships with the westerners but that is to use their help for their own good, such as
Saudi Arabia. They also base and enforce the law of the Qur an on the people. On the flipside, the
Salafeyeen do not have the word politics in their dictionary and the way they communicate is through
severe violence even on their own people. For example their rule goes as follows: thieves must have
their hands cut off, a curser s tongue must be cut off, an adulterous must be killed with the edge of the
sword, and so on with all the sinners. Their judgments are pretty extreme. They currently have a small
group in Egypt. There is no research found about them yet, however information has been spread
through word of mouth and people s experiences in the recent days in Egypt. The Salafeyeen have
been around and they are very few still. It is not long until the cancer is spread everywhere. Numerous
terrorist tribes have eventually been spread all over the world. The Muslim Brotherhood has created a
private group in each country who follow their plan. Therefore, every so often, the nation receives
news about occurring devastations they have caused.
Since the Muslim Brotherhood considers violence is the only method to spread or impose their
religion on many countries, they had

Meaning Of Galatian s Life By The Spirit
Have you ever wondered what it means to walk by the Spirit? Or what the Fruits of the Spirit truly
mean when applied to your life? Are you struggling with sin or maybe with issues you would not
identify as sin that do not feel right?
Paul addresses these issues in Galatians 5:13 26 by showing us what Life by the Spirit truly means.
Paul wrote this Epistle to defend himself and his ministry since many false teachers were telling the
Galatians otherwise and as a wake up call for the people of Galatia. Many took his message and
applied it to their lives, but continued to live in sin with one another. Paul wrote this book out of
frustration because he was disappointed in the Galatians for turning away from his teachings so
quickly. Paul wanted to let the Galatians know that they are no longer under Jewish law and should
not have to be circumcised to follow the Lord; they are free in Christ.
Paul spends the majority of passage talking about the Spirit and the flesh. The first thing you should
identify is what the flesh means. The flesh is a metaphor for our sinful nature, not necessarily referring
to the organ, flesh or skin. The Spirit is known as the Holy Spirit or our conscience to make decisions.
In verse 13 18 Paul is speaking directly to the people by using the pronoun, you. He is letting the
people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This relates to his use of inheriting the Kingdom of God metaphor in verse 21 since often times in the
Bible we are referred to as children of God. This does not mean we will actually inherit the Kingdom,
but that we will just receive eternal life. Since Paul calls the Galatians brothers and sisters, he is
reminding them they too are apart of the family of Christ and have been called to live by the Spirit and
refrain from sin. Furthermore, we are to serve and love one another and take up the characteristics and
attributes that the Spirit calls us to

Chapters Of Genesis
The first two chapters of Genesis explain the chronicle events of the creation story. While there are
yet, two accounts of the creation events within Genesis one and two, there is no contradiction. It
proclaims a detail account of how God, the Source of creation, created everything. Genesis gives us
our first glimpse into the characteristics and attributes of God, humankind and creation itself. When
studying the first two chapters of Genesis we find several characteristics of God. The two
characteristic I want to explore is: God as Creator God of order. The events of creation story how God
and God alone created of everything. Everything that God created was good . Another attribute of God
is that He is a God of order. God systematically and sequentially created everything in it proper time
and place. He created the heavens and earth before creating before making light. He also created the
waters before He created the fish of the seas. He created everything that humankind would need
before making humankind in His Image. God is a God of creation and order. Genesis also taught us
about humankind. Humankind was created to be a relational being and to be a steward. God created
humankind to be in relation with God and with each other. God ... Show more content on

As a way of God remaining a just God, he allowed an alternative to the Genesis account of creations.
There are several contrasts between the two creation accounts. Some the fundamental differences are:
order versus chaos, God who controlled emotions versus the emotions that control God s, a covenant
relation versus cunning and planning relation, man s dominion versus man s inhabitants. These
differences are significant because of the direct contrast between the natures of both sets of God s. The
Babylonian of the creation story is in line with the beliefs of Idol god verse a Hebrew belief in

The Pros And Cons Of Hitachi
I. Introduction
In this decade, design thinking has been captured attention from innovation scholars. Design thinking,
originated from basic practices of designers, is a series of activities and attitudes toward bringing
innovation [3][26]. This idea does not claim a necessity of being a designer, but designers may have a
high potential to be an innovator in a various occasion.
In fact, recent management studies discovered that industrial designers contribute to innovative
scientific research in the natural science field [5][29]. These studies clearly illustrate how industrial
designers tactfully set a demand pull goal and facilitate consensus building among research project
members.
They are also likely to achieve technological innovation in the industry sector. Reference [27] found
their superiority in setting a consumer oriented goal. Indeed, a versatile entrepreneur and industrial
designer, James Dyson, invented a novel vacuum technology to resolve a suction problem, which has

Benefits Of Retirement Planning For Retirement
Retirement planning is essential for the future well being of retirees. Gaining knowledge and
perspective on the process will be beneficial. A lack of preparedness may stem from the overwhelming
amount of variables affecting and contributing to retirement planning. The following literature reviews
provide awareness on planning for retirement. In an article by Burke Goldman (2015), three strategies
are presented to adopt and implement proven features and solutions. First, automatic plan features
promote enrollment and escalation to produce better outcomes. Behavioral economics contributes to
the effectiveness. Examples includes hyperbolic discounting, heavily discounting the importance of
future benefits in favor of immediate action, and loss aversion, motivated by avoiding loss than
achieving gains. The second strategy involves instituting the 4 M s, milestones, measurement,
monitoring and management. In order to reach the goal retirement age and income, the future retiree
needs to recognize how much is required to save each year. The funding goals are measured to
determine if the individual needs to change course or pick up the pace. Monitoring and management
occur throughout the process. Third, connecting the dots attempts to overcome the challenges
associated with account balances and future income. For a secure retirement, understanding options
promotes the ability to achieve better outcomes. To assist in achieving retirement goals, Davidson

Summary Of Children Of God s Fire Essay
The Lives of Rural Slaves in Brazilian Sugar Plantations
Throughout the 16th century, as there was a demographic collapse of the indigenous population, there
was now a new demand for slave labor in Latin America. In Brazil, the Portuguese needed a large
workforce to cultivate sugar plantations. As a result, numerous slaves from Africa were imported to
work on large plantation fields. In various plantations, rural slaves experienced harsh working and
living conditions. Few slaves had a high life expectancy. Robert Edgar Conrad in Children of God s
Fire, shares some primary sources that dealt with the types of environments and conditions many
slaves faced and encountered in Brazil. The sources also gave insight into the regulations and
economics/business of the slave trade. Conrad states that rural Brazil was a hell for blacks (Conrad
54). Many slaves dealt with extremely harsh conditions just to keep the European market in Latin
American growing and profitable. This paper will analyze how rural slaves lived and worked on
Brazilian sugar plantations. To start, in Brazil the Portuguese become convinced that full scale
exploitation of the land was imperative for the safety of their entire overseas empire. Sugar cultivation
was the ideal crop to guarantee the existence of a profitable colony. As a result, the Portuguese
dominated the Atlantic slave trade. Various slaves from different parts of Africa were brought to Brazil
and experienced difficult working and in living

A Comparison Of Walt Disney Resort And Universal Orlando
Walt Disney World vs. Universal Orlando
Amusement parks are a great form of entertainment for families and individuals. Walt Disney World
resort and Universal Orlando resort are two popular theme park destinations which provide enjoyment
to many worldwide visitors on a daily basis. Although both resorts share similarities, they also have
numerous differences which set them apart from each other creating a unique vacation experience for
each visitor. While both Walt Disney World resort and Universal Orlando resort are located in the
heart of Orlando, Florida, Walt Disney World resort is a considerably larger vacation destination. Both
resorts have multiple theme parks, each of them aimed at offering different experiences for guests.
Walt Disney World resort has four different theme parks to choose from: Magic Kingdom, Epcot,
Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios. On the other hand, Universal Orlando resort has only two
theme parks to offer their guests: Universal Studios Florida and Universal s Islands of Adventure.
Both resorts offer convenient on site hotels for their guests in order to keep them as close as possible
to the fun. Walt Disney World resort has more than twenty five different hotels to choose from while
Universal Orlando resort has only five hotels. Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando provide
entertainment for visitors of all ages. However, it is no surprise that the intended audience for Walt
Disney World is targeted towards young children. On the other hand, Universal Orlando provides
entertainment for an older audience. Walt Disney World has slower attractions which are suitable for
the whole family and revolve around the many different Disney movies and characters. Universal
Orlando is known for its thrill rides which are loved by adrenaline seekers. Walt Disney World has
very few thrill rides to choose from and not many of them are large scale roller coasters. Universal has
basically an entire theme park dedicated to large scale roller coasters providing twists and turns at a
high velocity for its guests. Walt Disney World keeps the fantasy going for the young children by
providing meet and greets with characters from the various Disney movies. They also offer various

Fire Equipment Operator Report
The sound of a q siren has been my favorite noise ever since I can remember. My dream of becoming
a firefighter came true in 2005 when I was hired at the Bloomington, MN Fire Department. Over the
last 11 years, I have attended multiple classes which include Emergency Medical Technician, Fire
Equipment Operator and Hazardous Materials Technician. None of these extra classes focused on
managerial development but in 2015, after an intense hiring process, I was promoted to the position of
Captain. In this position, I am a first line supervisor and responsible for 25 firefighters that work with

something if you apply 10,000 hours towards it and in my experience and opinion, Gladwell s theory

Argumentative Essay On Waking Up
Do you love a commercial that tells you something will work in a split of a second or when you eat or
drink a product it will make you skinny or fat? Here is a little story about a commercial of the Intel
360 replay. Their slogan is, it makes everything look epic. Tom Brady (A Super Bowl Champion)
wakes up and yawns, brushes his teeth, makes pancakes and as he tosses the pancake in the pan it falls
down and he and the dog looks at the fallen pancake and Brady grabs it as the dog is also running to
get it, so to Intel the replay is epic.
Waking up in the morning is a normal thing to most of us, some due to some circumstances hate

Others hate the whole process of brushing and if they were asked, they can go for a very long time
without brushing, now that is so disgusting right? Brady did not show how brushing the teeth was
epic. He would have at least done something extraordinary like have shown us the above and that
would have WOWED people.
Who doesn t love some good sweet pancakes, with some syrup at the side, eggs, sausages, some
veggies, juice and if you are caffeine person some tea or coffee will do. Brady showed us that he was
tossing the pancake then it fell down. If you could see how Brady and his dog looked at each other
than in a split of a second, he literally took the pancake from the floor and stuffed it in the mouth. We
say the dog too, was hungry but you can imagine how fast Brady took to collect the pancake and at the
same time the dog was trying to reach the pancake, Brady was now stuffing it. Now that s a very
funny commercial there if you could see how the dog looked at Brady it was in a very disappointing
look.
You know their times your dog seems to be the lucky one, it wakes you in the morning you share your
breakfast together. As the saying goes every dog has its own day, even though it is not its meaning, we
can literary look at it in this perspective but for Brady s dog today it was not his day. The commercial
shows us how epic the pancake is that Brady feels jealous to share it with the dog.
In my perspective, a commercial should be that one wishes

Arts Integration Research Paper
The idea of arts integration is a topic widely used by arts advocates in schools to gain support and
understanding from the community, though not many people understand what it means, exactly. The
term arts integration is a teaching approach that incorporates the different arts disciplines to direct a
better, and more well rounded learning environment ( Metla). By integrating the arts into learning, the
school systems broaden the traditional ideas of education which then helps to produce a more creative
community. The schools and teachers use different ways to integrate the arts which include using the
arts as their own separate courses or incorporating them into all of the separate classes (Arts Edge).
The decision of which one of the ways will be used, or whether both will be used, is chosen by the
individual schools based on educational standards and money. ... Show more content on

The pairing of arts integration in the classrooms and a structured arts rich learning environment is the
most effective way for students to fully express their creativity and to thrive in academic studies; but,
even though using both tactics is the best way, it is not used as often as the majority of school systems
place a greater importance on standardized testing based subjects. Kennedy Center for the Performing
Arts stated that the integration of the arts is an approach to teaching where the students can construct
and demonstrate an understanding through the usage of an art form. This approach engages the
students in a way that builds their creative processes and connects the subjects together more
cohesively. This cohesion is why arts integration is of importance for the schools systems, which have
increased scores, and the students, which not only enjoy their education but also learn and understand

Essential UI Design Practices For Every Mobile App Developer
When it comes to communicating with and accessing potential users around the globe, mobile apps
have gradually emerged to become a very important tool. Virtually everyone is talking about using,
having or sending mobile apps which have automatically become the buzzword in the mobile space. If
you are looking to create an app that will worth your users choice and time, then you must be ready to
build something that is well equipped with all necessary features and very attractive.
Alongside with User Experience (UX), you will surely need to consider developing your mobile app

Remember that before your app can be made available on major app stores like Google Play and
Apple Store, will have to be properly scrutinized and tested. It is advisable to use interactions, touch
gestures, and navigation systems to try out innovations.
Certain objective methods such as A/B testing and user studies may be helpful particularly if you are
seeking to try out new ideas on your own. You can use these methods to compare these components
with the initial versions of your UI. Through this means you can know which of the two versions is
simpler, more efficient, and preferable to use.
Make it look attractive
It always helps to keep the mobile UI of your app graphical. Just so you know, appearance (design)
matters much. An app designed with a more text heavy design will surely not be preferred more than a
mobile app with an enticing look. As a general rule of thumb, ensure to make use of graphics that are
appropriately sized.
In terms of your app s visual appeal, it is good to establish simple resource management but avoid
employing inappropriate graphics. Many mobile app development companies often make the mistake
of taking a one size fit most approach to enhance their app s graphics. If you want your mobile
application to look its best, then you must ensure to incorporate appropriately sized graphics
particularly those specific to the screen of the device you are developing for.

Separation of Powers in the Commowealth
This doctrine was formulated by French philosopher Montesquieu who theorized that abuse of powers
by the three branches would be checked through separating the branches functionally and physically.
This means no branch should perform function of the other and no person can hold office
simultaneously in the branches.
However, there are instances where state courts have influences from the decisions of cases in the
Commonwealth courts. In the ruling made in the case Kable v Director of public prosecution1996 189
CLR51.This case forbid states court exceeding federal jurisdiction. Therefore, State Supreme courts
rely on decisions of federal courts and vice versa (Harris, 2013).
In the separation of powers there is the doctrine that courts cannot be vested with non judicial power
and federal judicial powers cannot be vested in a state court. It goes that if a court exercises non
judicial power, then separation of powers will be violated. The states do not have explicit separation of
powers in their respective constitutions. Parliament is able to vest judicial federal powers with non
judicial powers so long as they do not undermine their integrity. States courts can still exercise their
independence since they have some discretion in some matters.
Looking at the separation of powers in States such as Queensland, there are unique features.
Commonwealth Constitution confers separation of powers but States do not have constitutional
separation of powers. Influence of executive on

Essay on Low Healthy Life Expectancy
What are the main factors contributing to low healthy life expectancy in the developed world?
Investigate possible solutions to these problems.
Low healthy life expectancy is the imprecise number of years an individual or group of persons in a
country is expected to live, staying healthy and free from disabilities. The World Health Organisation
(WHO) defines healthy life expectancy as the average number of years that a person is expected to
live in full health, subtracting full health due to diseases and injury . Low healthy life expectancy in
the developed world is caused by several factors such as, life styles, climate, diet and the environment.
These are problems because they reduce healthy life expectancy, and to solve this problem, ... Show

Smoking does not have effect only on the person smoking but on the society at large. Furthermore,
people perception towards health has caused a main impasse. Most individuals and countries are
ostensibly careless about their health. In the developed world today, it is said that health is about
physical appearance. Kaplan (2010) states that an individual s health links to a person s well being and
poor health turns it negative . When a person is not concerned about his or her health, it leads to low
healthy life expectancy and carrying out activities becomes very difficult. A possible solution to these
problems is to raise the awareness of the government. The government should make a way for people
to have regular check up, keeping them aware of their health status. In addition the government should
formulate bye laws restricting smoking in public places.
Secondly, another factor contributing to low healthy life expectancy is the climate of a country.
Vardavas and Taylor (2007) define climate as the mean of state of the atmosphere, averaged over
several years and all season with particular emphasis on those that affect the temperature of the earth
surface in both logical and global mean sense . In most developed countries, climate has always been a
major concern. The effect of climate could have a positive or a negative effect on an individual.
Climate varies among developed countries.

The War Of Annihilation And The Wehrmacht
Only recently has the Wehrmacht come under indictment by the public on their role in the Holocaust.
For years after the war, their culpability had been absconded into the histories. The Western Allies are
to blame for this fact, which was overshadowed due to the Cold War. The United States needed West
Germany on their side, since it was the front line against the Soviet Union. For a time after World War
II, the Wehrmacht was portrayed as the unknowing hand of Adolf Hitler, fighting a legitimate war of
nations and not involved in the genocide which was conducted by the Schutzstaffel (SS) and other
Nazi police forces. It is well known now, that is not the case. The war in the East was a war of
annihilation and the Wehrmacht was just as complicit as the death squads at Auschwitz.
To begin with, the intention of Hitler and the Wehrmacht leaders to exclude Jews from the Wehrmacht
was unambiguous. At the same time however, it was not possible to make this racist principle a reality
in pure form. From the beginning, exceptions to the rule were granted, primarily for veterans with
service at the front in the Great War. Now the Defense Law introduced further regulations against
Jews entering the military. Within the Wehrmacht lists were in circulation in which an individual s
amount of Jewish blood was listed in percentages. Full Jews were not allowed in the Wehrmacht. Half
Jews were at first allowed to enter the Wehrmacht, but could not be promoted to officers.

However, a regulation like this cannot be without opposition from large for profit corporations and
other interested parties. In fact, The California Dialysis Council legislative office mentioned in the
article Opposition to Mandated Staffing Ratios in Dialysis Clinics SB 349 that mandated ratios will do
patients more harm than good (Foy, K. Arnold, M., 2017). Furthermore, Foy and Arnold (2017) also
stated that the mandated ratios will result in increased cost, leading to facility closures, and limited
patient access to treatment (Foy Arnold, 2013).
However, SB 349 (2017) aims to regulate facilities so they could provide better patient care and
prolong the lives of those who are dependent on life saving measures like dialysis. Patients deserve
better treatment and should not be counted as numbers or costs. Facilities are not inspected as

What Is The Cardiovascular System
The cardiovascular system is the system of the body which includes the circulatory system and your
heart. This system has three functions. Its first is transportation where it is responsible for pumping
blood to the organs, tissues, and cells of your body in order to transport a proper amount of oxygen
and nutrients to every cell as well as remove the carbon dioxide and waste products made by some
cells. This is done by using one of the strongest muscles and the hardest working organ in the body the
heart. Blood is pumped through this organ into the major blood vessels located at the base of the heart.
The major vessels include the vena cava, aorta, pulmonary trunk, and the pulmonary veins. Although
the heart is no bigger than the average

Plain Capitalism Vs Democratic Capitalism
Capitalism is an omnipresent system that has taken on many unique and defined forms throughout its
existence. While capitalism comes in a variety of disguises, one thing about capitalism has always
remained the same the nature of its selfish being. Capitalism thrives on hard work. Individuals that
work hard will undoubtedly be rewarded. On the contrary, those that are not able to work are left in a
dreadful predicament. Even with two distinct versions of capitalism plain capitalism and democratic
capitalism both involve the necessary component of free enterprise. Capitalism considers free
enterprise something to be achieved individually with rewards intended for just oneself. Adam Smith
came along and challenged that notation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To further illustrate this concept, I will share with you my time working in an undisclosed animal park
compared to my time working as a Certified Nursing Assistant at a hospital. The animal park was
innovative and practically screamed free enterprise. There were rules, regulations, and an ethical code
of conduct all necessary components for democratic capitalism. However, higher ups were not elected
they were appointment by the owner. Likewise in the hospital setting, supervisors were also appointed
from upper management. Something unique about working in the hospital, however, was that there
were elected members of a resident government needed for democratic capitalism. Following Adam
Smith s theory, the hospital I worked for had many incentives in place. At the hospital, I could
accumulate paid time off and earn additional bonuses for picking up unscheduled shifts. As Smith
would have predicted, I undoubtedly worked harder at the hospital because the only incentive to work
at the animal park was for my check and nothing additional. At the hospital, I felt more involved with
my work. Although one might argue against healthcare and its intentions, I worked hard because I
believed that I personally was helping

Mount Tambora Essay
Introduction In Sumbawa, Indonesia, a composite volcano erupted. Volcanic ash, tephra, hardened
lava, and pumice escaped the stratovolcano, and climbed into the atmosphere to the height of two to
three times as much as the average aviation flies. Piercing shrieks of petrification and excruciation
could be heard from far away, yet it was immediately lulled by an abrupt silence. Kilometres away,
people s responses differed to the phenomenon s noise. British generals deployed soldiers and rescue
boats since they could not decide if it was cannons firing or a distress call from an unfortunate boat.
Evidently, they found nothing. They thought it was a clever trick, however; little did they know it was
an international environmental crisis that would further deteriorate their colossal empire. This was the

aisles just like in a supermarket. Items have been categorized and stocked accordingly in different
shelves. On the other hand, Shiny Provision is attributed to having messy shelves, poor signage, no
goods displayed all over in an attractive layout and generally does not have the most pleasant
atmosphere. However, the store has informative advertising whereby the services are more
personalized and interactive. The customer interacts with the shopkeeper and explains what they want;
the latter then offers the product and sometimes recommendations for a different product. Shiny
Provision offers a better avenue for discounts, quantities befitting the customer s budget, and cheaper
products. Reliance Fresh appears to have well known better quality brands compared to Shiny

ABSTRACT
The Brassica rapa is a rapid growing plant that has a standard form and a mutant rosette form. Relative
to normal plants, the rosette form is shorter and takes longer to flower. The mode of inheritance of the
rosette gene was tested by crossing two true breeding plants, one of each form. The F1 generation was
then cross pollinated to produce an F2 generation. The phenotypes of each generation were recorded
and a chi square test was performed. The F1 offspring were almost entirely standard form, and the F2
followed the Mendelian ratio of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After a week, the phenotypes of the plants were recorded in Table 2. The strongest plant in each cell
was left in the quad, and the others were removed in order to thin the plants.
Pollinating Flowers The plants were continually monitored and watered when needed. At
approximately two weeks from the day the seeds were planted, several flowers were open on the
plants. The plants were then cross pollinated using a pollinating wand. The pollen from one plant was
transferred to another, using approximately eight flowers. This was done three different days with one
day in between. After the third pollination, the unopened buds were removed. The plants were kept
watered, and the new buds and shoots were removed for the next 14 days.
Harvesting Seeds Once 14 days had passed from the day of the third pollination, the quad was
removed from the watering tray and left to dry for a week. Then, the dry seed pods were removed and
cracked open so that the seeds could be collected.
Germinating Seeds A piece of filter paper was moistened and then placed in a petri dish, and any
excess water was poured off. The harvested seeds were then placed in neat rows on the upper two
thirds of the filter paper. The petri dish was then tilted on end in a water reservoir containing
approximately two centimeters of water. The reservoir and dish were then placed under the fluorescent
light to germinate for 48 hours. After the 48 hours, the

FDR Inaugural Address
FDR Inaugural Address Speech Analysis Essay
In arguably one of the most powerful of American political addresses ever given, President Franklin
Delano Roosevelt argues that, the only thing we have to fear is fear itself , and that in order to restore
America to its pre depression state, the American people must believe that he can lead them through
the Great Depression, so long as they appoint him the wartime executive powers required to handle
the situation effectively. Roosevelt emphasizes the need for action through the use of biblical allusions
and referring to himself as the prophet is this time of need, taking the role of Jesus, declaring, The
money changers have fled from their high seats in the temple of our civilization. We may now restore
that temple to the ancient truths. ; he plays upon the social needs as well as builds up his credibility
with the audience by stating his plan to combat the depression, broad Executive power to wage a war
against the emergency, as great as the power that would be given to me if we were in fact invaded by a
foreign foe. ; and cements his argument with his claims of value and policy, exposing the flaws of pre
depression American society, and eventually calling for the change he believes necessary to force
America out of the depression, we apply social values more noble than mere monetary profit. .

Descriptive Essay On A Strip Club
As part of the child custody agreement with Shane, every other weekend I was required to drive an
hour south to exchange my youngest daughter with him. I once sat down and added up all the miles
and money that had gone into driving that route back and forth, and realized I could have driven
around the world and gotten a lovely vacation out it. But instead, it was just Bowling Green.
Several years into this bi monthly drive, a new establishment opened up right off the highway, Club54,
on the outskirts of Bowling Green. It was, amazingly enough, a strip club. Now over the years, I have
taken a liking to strip clubs, I ve been in many, all over the country, but was actually quite surprised
that this little tiny town, in the middle of nowhere now had one, and could not resist checking it out.
Dropping off my daughter, and after the brief, cold exchange that always went with it, Billy and I
jumped back into my car and headed for Bowling Green s newest attraction, eagerly excited to see
what it had to offer. Pulling up into the almost empty parking lot, we paused to look over the white,
windowless, nondescript, kinda shabby looking building, giving each other a questioning look about
our life choices. With a shrug, I giggled as we jumped out of the car, hollering, To the nekid ladies!
and Billy hooted his approval.
Walking in the door, it was a bit ragged at that end, a dimly lit pool table off to the side, old worn
down carpeting, and 70 s style decor. Beginning to wonder if

Dulce Et Decorum Est Figurative Language
Wilfred Owen s Dulce et Decorum Est (1917) is one of the most famous poems to appear from the
ranks of the soldier poets who fought during the WWI. He reacts to the war, showing that reality is
contaminated and dishonored, changing conventional poetic techniques into something that appears to
be rather ordinary on the outside. In the poem, Owen shows the critical versions of reality by using
figurative language, imagery, and irony.
First of all, the author uses simile, which is one form of figurative languages, to support the idea of
exhaust and pain during the war which contradicts the belief that it is sweet and honorable to die for
your country. Bent double, like old beggars under sacks, knock kneed, coughing like hags, we cursed
through sludge. (Owen, 1917, stanza 1, line 1 2) From this quote, it is able to infer that participating
war is wearing since the soldiers walk countless miles, which Owen himself compares the them as
beggars and hags. But someone still was yelling out and stumbling. And flound ring like a man in fire
or lime. (Owen, 1917, stanza 2, line 3 4) This quote describes the soldier that could not wear ... Show

tell them that war is glorious. The old Lie: Dulce et decorum est Pro patria mori. (Owen 1917, stanza

admirable to die for their country. This also is sarcastic what people believed was like to die in a war

Using Empathy In Psychosocial Psychology
Empathy is an important tool in all parts of life, both personally and professionally. Empathy is both a
tool and a state of mind, which allows us to understand other people s points of view. By using
empathy, we can better understand the people around us, weather they are friends or clients. Many
jobs rely on using empathy to connect with their clients, whether they be Doctors or work in
advertising, being able to understand the feeling, fears, and points of view of other people is

understanding of empathy as a psychologist is useful when trying to solve a problem between two
patients, and by using my knowledge of empathy I would be able help them understand how each

Satire in the Tragedies of Euripides
The world of Euripides tragedies was one that espoused ancient ideas of religion. The belief in ancient
legends that formed subject material for the tragic drama had passed. The crowd that attended the
theater at this time did so as a sort of religious celebration. It was under these circumstances that
Euripides had to bury what might have been his true beliefs, and instead replace them with ideas that
would relate to his audience. This did not mean that Euripides had to forgo his beliefs entirely. Rather,
this meant that Euripides had to include his own interpretations of these ancient beliefs in a way that
was not outwardly corrupt or blasphemous. By exploiting the human dimension of understanding
beliefs, Euripides was able to insert ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The next example of satire is in Ion as translated by Robert Potten. In this play, Euripides allows for
the characters to express their disgust for the ancient deities. Is it then Just exclaims Ion, that you who
gave the laws / to mortals, should yourselves transgress those laws? (lines 450 451). Ion goes on to
express his contempt with the gods that can clearly be seen as satirical: The penalty of forced
embraces, thou, Neptune, and Jove, that reigns supreme in heaven, Will leave your temples treasure
less by paying The mulcts of your injustice (lines 454 457).
This reveals the nature of the satire that Euripides chose to pursue. This was more of a rhetorical
example of how the gods fail in their own laws, yet man is bound by them. In using the fallacy of
begging the question, Euripides allows for the audience to think that they can answer the question
differently, yet Euripides has already put the conclusion, or answer, within the prose by using the
premise, Will leave your temples treasure less... (line 456). In Heracles, as translated by E.P.
Coleridge, we can see a similar sort of satire being used to question the gods. Amphytron, husband of
Alcmene, who is the mother of Heracles, continuously uses satire when speaking of the gods. In his
complaint against Zeus, for the seduction of Alcmene, and for abandoning Heracles, Amphytron
states, O Zeus, in vain it seems, did I get thee to share my bride with me; in

The poems Elegy Written in A Country Churchyard. by Thomas Gray, and The Deserted Village, by
Oliver Goldsmith, both lament the current state of society in rural areas. Each poem idealizes rural
life, but offers differing ideas of the people of the villages. Gray s poem talks about the unrealized
Miltons and Cromwells of the poor that were able to live their lives honestly, innocently and the free
of temptation faced by the wealthy. Goldsmith talks of the swain and the tradesmen, and the politics
that force to live in famine or leave their lands. In their poems, Gray mourns what the people could

In the city, there is more opportunity for people to be educated, so talents are more easily discovered
and cultivated, just like gems and flowers in well explored territories. In the country, the unexplored
potential of the people leaves room for so much possibility. This goes against the idea that the people
of the more wealthy urban areas are naturally greater than the rural folks, equalizing them through the
life them never had. Gray continues on his evaluation of these unrealized people by saying that they
are actually blessed because Far from the madding crowd s ignoble strife, / Their sober wishes never

they are missing out on and never having to face the temptations that come with being wealthy and

they are better off than those with wicked lives of the wealthy. Death is what gives the hope and value
to the rural lives. Whether a person is wealthy or poor, everyone dies eventually. The ornateness of the
resting place is not what matters, but rather where their soul is received after death. In Gray s Epitaph,

Family, Friends And Lovers
In the film, The Emotional Life there was a very interesting episode called Family, Friends and Lovers
. Family, Friends and Lovers reminded me of situations that I have experienced in the past. I can
honestly relate to this episode in so many ways, such as my outlook on family and friends. The first
few people that babies ever know are their family. Infants value their mother/caregiver more than
anyone. From birth they tend to form a bond with their caregiver, in which is known as attachment.
Due to their family members being the first people they interact with they learn how to relate with
people at home. Family relationship is practice to what is next; meaning the relationships people gain
with their family helps them prepare for future relationship with others. Friendships can be very
helpful because no one wants to be lonely. It is quite nice to have someone else to hang and interact
with besides family. It is great to have a friend that you can connect with. In the episode, Family,
Friends and Lovers Harry Harlow Monkey Love Experiment was mentioned. In this experiment, he
separated infant monkeys from their mothers a few hours after birth, and then arranged for them to be
raised by two kinds of surrogate monkey mothers. One mother was made out of bare wire mesh and
the other was a wire mother covered with cloth. Given a choice, the infant monkeys preferred the
mother covered with soft terry cloth, and they spent a great deal of time cuddling with them.

The Success And Success Of Sir Robert Gordon Menzies
Sir Robert Gordon Menzies was an Australian politician who served two terms as Prime Minister,

record for time serving as Australian prime minister (WEB). In this essay, I shall delineate and analyse
the secrets to Menzies success, which I attribute to several factors, many of which were beyond the
control of Menzies himself. Even before entering politics, Menzies developed talents that would serve
him well for political success. Namely, during his time studying and practising law, Menzies
developed a particularly strong oratorical ability which benefited him throughout his career.

Advantages Of Privatization Of Air Traffic Control In Usa
Privatize air traffic control in USA
Introduction
Air traffic control involves the directing of aircraft on the ground through the use of airspaces and
advising the planes in non controlled skies. Currently, control of air traffic in the United States is done
by the federal aviation administration. The current President Donald Trump has proposed to privatize
the exercise. Moving the task to a non profit organization will benefit America in various ways. Most
importantly, it will modernize equipment s and training making the process more efficient.
Additionally, it will ensure a more stable funding for the operation thus enhancing sufficient security.
From the benefits of privatization of air traffic control in the USA, it is imperative that the legislators
fully support the move.
Discussion
Privatization of air traffic control in the United States will significantly contribute to the
modernization of the system. With the current management of air traffic control by the federal aviation
(FAA) administration, it is impossible to modernize the system. FAA can easily be manipulated by
politicians since they are not independent institutions thereby making it possible to move agenda of
the organization forward. For instance, embezzlement of funds is likely making it almost impossible
to purchase modern equipment s that can help in the running of the systems. However, allowing the
process to be controlled by a non profit organization will enhance

unravel the themes of the play, interpreters have extracted a wide variety symbolism from the Godot s
name. Some, taking an obvious hint, have proposed that Godot represents God and that the play is
centered on religious symbolism. Others have taken the name as deriving from the French word for a
boot, godillot. Still, others have suggested a connection between Godot and Godeau, a character who
never appears in Honore de Balzac s Mercadet; Ou, le faiseur. Through all these efforts, there is still
no definitive answer as to whom or what Godot ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While the play contains obvious ambiguities into the word s meaning, they are all for show. There is
no real meaning. The interpretation of Godot s religious significance, while this significance is clearly
alluded to, leads to interpreter into a long, blind alley of meaninglessness. Just as Estragon s boots
contain nothing inside them, there is no central meaning to the word Godot. Furthermore, this
meaninglessness can be expanded to all of Beckett s language; full of hints of a greater significance,
language hides the triviality of all things described. Only after this revelation can one finally get
towards the central meaning of Beckett s play; there is no meaning. His characters engage in
ridiculous language to pass the time and to give [them] the impression [they] exist (44B). Illusions of
significance continue throughout the play, but, in truth, the play comes from nothing and ultimately
ends in nothing. Beckett exposes the pitfalls of a language that attempts to create meaning when none
exists. Waiting for Godot is not a commentary on religion or really anything for that matter. Its
meaning comes in its meaninglessness. That is the play s greater

Preventing PEDs in Professional Sports Essay
The use of performance enhancing drugs (PEDs) among athletes in professional sports has caused an
outrage all around the world for many years.
The use of PEDs not only affects the athlete that chooses to use them, but also the athletes they are
competing against, other teams, and the team or country they are representing ( Survey Reveals ). It is
important for athletes to maintain a good reputation in competition, because they need to represent
their team in a positive manner and not create suspicion or problems surrounding the athlete and the
team. Using PEDs will cause negative issues and poor reputations for the affected team. For instance,
Austrian skier Johannes Duerr admitted to using EPO and was eliminated from competition. ... Show

Many professional sports including baseball, basketball, and most Olympic sports have suffered
doping cases. These teams and countries have had many issues surrounding the use of PEDs and
getting past scandals and controversies involving athletes who used PEDs to gain competitive edge.
Countries such as the United States, Austria, Jamaica, Switzerland, and Kenya have also had a great
amount of PED issues of their own over time and are attempting to create broader policies and
consequences regarding PED use among their athletes (Macur). Future athletes need to be educated
and understand that performance enhancing drugs are wrong and violate the rules of sportsmanship
(Survey Reveals). Many professional sports associations, including the National Football League
(NFL), National Basketball Association (NBA), Major League Baseball (MLB), and even the
International Olympic Committee (IOC) take the use of performance enhancing drugs, or PED s, by
athletes and coaches very seriously. They have imposed harsher consequences and have created more
frequent testing protocols. All are developing stronger methods to prevent use of in the years to come.
There are several possible effective solutions to prevent future use of PEDs in professional sports. The
first possible solution is increased use of blood testing as opposed to other testing methods such as
urine tests. Blood testing has been

In Praise of Folly
In Praise of Folly Erasmus Dichotomy
The Silenus box is a case carved like an ugly Silenus that can be opened to reveal beautiful, precious
objects (Erasmus 43, footnote). This box appears in Erasmus Praise of Folly as a metaphor for the
central claim in the novel, which is that that which appears to be Folly (ugly) externally, is wise
(precious) within. Erasmus reveals this dichotomy on three levels: in the image of the box itself, in his
genuine praise of Folly, and in the structure of the novel as a whole.
Erasmus, using the female voice of Folly, introduces his reader to the image of the Silenus box early
in the text, thereby allowing his reader to carry the image with her for the rest of her time reading (and

Folly, being folly, goes on from her initial description of the box to give the majority of her list
backwards (although she begins correctly), claiming that if the list goes in one direction, it must, of
course, go in the opposite direction as well (she s a woman you can t expect her to be reasonable (28)).
To do this, she abruptly inserts the word conversely (43), and continues with a long backward list. Life
will turn out to be death; beauty will become ugliness, and so on, she says (43). In this backwards list,
good outsides cloak bad insides. She then uses this inverted list as a springboard to celebrate wise
appearances (although this is the exact opposite of the central message of the book, which is the
celebration of foolish appearances).
She declares that esteemed members of the community are truly members of her (Folly s) clan, and
that all they have of wisdom is its appearance. Kings and great courtiers... find suitable pretexts within
which they can steal from their citizens and live in luxury so that downright injustice at least has some
appearance of justice (107 8). Popes, cardinals and bishops also behave artificially. They play their
roles with theatrical pomp and ceremonies, but as much as they abide by the superficial demands of
their positions,

Waste Of Food Waste
The United States creates an immense amount of waste every year. The United States lacks in its
ability to teach its population about waste management. Consequently, the average American is
remarkably wasteful. Americans are wasteful as they throw away a substantial amount of food every
year, they use unnecessary amounts of fresh water, and waste electricity. Americans waste a vast
amount of trash annually. The World Wildlife Foundation states, About 1.3 billion tons of food are
wasted each year four times the amount needed to feed the more than 800+ million people who are
malnourished (World Wildlife). Americans waste over one billion tons of food because they are
uneducated on consequences of throwing away food. For example, the harmful gases that are
produced when food decomposes or even letting others go hungry. Not only does wasting food affect
others, it can affect oneself as well. The NRDC states, Americans discard 40 percent of the food
supply every year, and the average American family of four ends up throwing away an equivalent of
up to $2,275 annually in food (Huffington Post). Many Americans throw away their household foods
because they are too busy to cook it. Also, Americans tend to buy their food in bulk, causing a
majority of their food to perish. Author Jennifer McClellan states, Sixty percent of people in the Johns
Hopkins study said they threw away food out of a desire to eat the freshest foods (McClellan).
Americans buy fresh ingredients because

Implementation Of A New Operating System
Ava s software company has received a contract to design an operating system which runs and
operates a computer system used to handle stock buying and selling process. Which scheduling
strategy would you recommend for this new operating system? Please support your answer and
provide reasons for it. (10 points)
Ans) In the computer world, multitasking is a method where multiple tasks or processes are performed
during the same period of time that is they are executed concurrently. Multitasking doesn t necessarily
means that multiple tasks are executing at exactly the same instant. As such, more than one
undertaking can be part path through execution in the meantime, and that more than one errand is
propelling more than a time of time is called multitasking, not at all like parallel execution. Operating
system might adopt one of many scheduling strategies, which normally fall into the following
categories:
1) Multiprogramming: In these systems, the running task keeps running until it performs an operation
that requires waiting for an external event or until the running task is forcibly swapped out of the CPU
by the computer s scheduler. These systems are designed to maximize the processor usage.
The above figures show that memory can expand to hold three, four or more programs and switch
among all of them.
2) Time Sharing: In these systems, the running task is required to abandon the processor, either
willingly or by an outside event such as hardware interrupt. Time

  • 2. Stein And Stryker Summary Stein and Stryker respond to two important challenges within the field: Stein responds to the struggle of finding a methodology of historiography that allows for a distinction to be drawn between popular conceptions and lived experiences of sex, gender, sexuality, love, marriage and family, while Stryker unravels the complexity of the register of the discourse, specifically when defining the taxonomies of gender, sex and sexuality. The former is significant because given that sexuality and sex were considered to be parts of the private sphere of the lives of individuals, it is hard to find reliable, primary sources on which to base a historical timeline on. People who are literally obedient to the Islamic faith are called Islamic Extremists. On the flipside, the Salafeyeen do not have the word politics in their dictionary and the way they communicate is through severe violence even on their own people. For example their rule goes as follows: thieves must have their hands cut off, a curser s tongue must be cut off, an adulterous must be killed with the edge of the sword, and so on with all the sinners. Their judgments are pretty extreme. They currently have a small group in Egypt. There is no research found about them yet, however information has been spread through word of mouth and people s experiences in the recent days in Egypt. • 4. Meaning Of Galatian s Life By The Spirit Have you ever wondered what it means to walk by the Spirit? Or what the Fruits of the Spirit truly mean when applied to your life? Are you struggling with sin or maybe with issues you would not identify as sin that do not feel right? Paul addresses these issues in Galatians 5:13 26 by showing us what Life by the Spirit truly means. Paul wrote this Epistle to defend himself and his ministry since many false teachers were telling the Galatians otherwise and as a wake up call for the people of Galatia. Many took his message and applied it to their lives, but continued to live in sin with one another. Paul wrote this book out of frustration because he was disappointed in the Galatians for turning away from his teachings so quickly. Paul wanted to let the Galatians know that they are no longer under Jewish law and should not have to be circumcised to follow the Lord; they are free in Christ. Paul spends the majority of passage talking about the Spirit and the flesh. The first thing you should identify is what the flesh means. The flesh is a metaphor for our sinful nature, not necessarily referring to the organ, flesh or skin. The Spirit is known as the Holy Spirit or our conscience to make decisions. In verse 13 18 Paul is speaking directly to the people by using the pronoun, you. He is letting the people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While there are yet, two accounts of the creation events within Genesis one and two, there is no contradiction. It proclaims a detail account of how God, the Source of creation, created everything. Genesis gives us our first glimpse into the characteristics and attributes of God, humankind and creation itself. When studying the first two chapters of Genesis we find several characteristics of God. The two characteristic I want to explore is: God as Creator God of order. The events of creation story how God and God alone created of everything. Everything that God created was good . Another attribute of God is that He is a God of order. God systematically and sequentially created everything in it proper time and place. He created the heavens and earth before creating before making light. He also created the waters before He created the fish of the seas. He created everything that humankind would need before making humankind in His Image. God is a God of creation and order. Genesis also taught us about humankind. Humankind was created to be a relational being and to be a steward. God created humankind to be in relation with God and with each other. God ... • 7. Benefits Of Retirement Planning For Retirement Retirement planning is essential for the future well being of retirees. Gaining knowledge and perspective on the process will be beneficial. A lack of preparedness may stem from the overwhelming amount of variables affecting and contributing to retirement planning. The following literature reviews provide awareness on planning for retirement. In an article by Burke Goldman (2015), three strategies are presented to adopt and implement proven features and solutions. First, automatic plan features promote enrollment and escalation to produce better outcomes. Behavioral economics contributes to the effectiveness. Examples includes hyperbolic discounting, heavily discounting the importance of future benefits in favor of immediate action, and loss aversion, motivated by avoiding loss than achieving gains. The second strategy involves instituting the 4 M s, milestones, measurement, monitoring and management. • 8. Summary Of Children Of God s Fire Essay The Lives of Rural Slaves in Brazilian Sugar Plantations Throughout the 16th century, as there was a demographic collapse of the indigenous population, there was now a new demand for slave labor in Latin America. In Brazil, the Portuguese needed a large workforce to cultivate sugar plantations. As a result, numerous slaves from Africa were imported to work on large plantation fields. In various plantations, rural slaves experienced harsh working and living conditions. Few slaves had a high life expectancy. Robert Edgar Conrad in Children of God s Fire, shares some primary sources that dealt with the types of environments and conditions many slaves faced and encountered in Brazil. The sources also gave insight into the regulations and economics/business of the slave trade. Conrad states that rural Brazil was a hell for blacks (Conrad 54). Many slaves dealt with extremely harsh conditions just to keep the European market in Latin American growing and profitable. This paper will analyze how rural slaves lived and worked on Brazilian sugar plantations. To start, in Brazil the Portuguese become convinced that full scale exploitation of the land was imperative for the safety of their entire overseas empire. Sugar cultivation was the ideal crop to guarantee the existence of a profitable colony. As a result, the Portuguese dominated the Atlantic slave trade. Various slaves from different parts of Africa were brought to Brazil and experienced difficult working and in living ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Here is a little story about a commercial of the Intel 360 replay. Their slogan is, it makes everything look epic. Tom Brady (A Super Bowl Champion) wakes up and yawns, brushes his teeth, makes pancakes and as he tosses the pancake in the pan it falls down and he and the dog looks at the fallen pancake and Brady grabs it as the dog is also running to get it, so to Intel the replay is epic. Who doesn t love some good sweet pancakes, with some syrup at the side, eggs, sausages, some veggies, juice and if you are caffeine person some tea or coffee will do. Brady showed us that he was tossing the pancake then it fell down. If you could see how Brady and his dog looked at each other than in a split of a second, he literally took the pancake from the floor and stuffed it in the mouth. We say the dog too, was hungry but you can imagine how fast Brady took to collect the pancake and at the same time the dog was trying to reach the pancake, Brady was now stuffing it. Now that s a very funny commercial there if you could see how the dog looked at Brady it was in a very disappointing look. You know their times your dog seems to be the lucky one, it wakes you in the morning you share your breakfast together. As the saying goes every dog has its own day, even though it is not its meaning, we can literary look at it in this perspective but for Brady s dog today it was not his day. Arts Integration Research Paper The idea of arts integration is a topic widely used by arts advocates in schools to gain support and understanding from the community, though not many people understand what it means, exactly. The term arts integration is a teaching approach that incorporates the different arts disciplines to direct a better, and more well rounded learning environment ( Metla). By integrating the arts into learning, the school systems broaden the traditional ideas of education which then helps to produce a more creative community. The schools and teachers use different ways to integrate the arts which include using the arts as their own separate courses or incorporating them into all of the separate classes (Arts Edge). The decision of which one of the ways will be used, or whether both will be used, is chosen by the individual schools based on educational standards and money. ... Therefore, State Supreme courts rely on decisions of federal courts and vice versa (Harris, 2013). In the separation of powers there is the doctrine that courts cannot be vested with non judicial power and federal judicial powers cannot be vested in a state court. It goes that if a court exercises non judicial power, then separation of powers will be violated. The states do not have explicit separation of powers in their respective constitutions. Parliament is able to vest judicial federal powers with non judicial powers so long as they do not undermine their integrity. The World Health Organisation (WHO) defines healthy life expectancy as the average number of years that a person is expected to live in full health, subtracting full health due to diseases and injury . Smoking does not have effect only on the person smoking but on the society at large. Furthermore, people perception towards health has caused a main impasse. Most individuals and countries are ostensibly careless about their health. In the developed world today, it is said that health is about physical appearance. Kaplan (2010) states that an individual s health links to a person s well being and poor health turns it negative . When a person is not concerned about his or her health, it leads to low healthy life expectancy and carrying out activities becomes very difficult. A possible solution to these problems is to raise the awareness of the government. The government should make a way for people to have regular check up, keeping them aware of their health status. In addition the government should formulate bye laws restricting smoking in public places. Secondly, another factor contributing to low healthy life expectancy is the climate of a country. Vardavas and Taylor (2007) define climate as the mean of state of the atmosphere, averaged over several years and all season with particular emphasis on those that affect the temperature of the earth surface in both logical and global mean sense . In most developed countries, climate has always been a major concern. The effect of climate could have a positive or a negative effect on an individual. Climate varies among developed countries. ... For years after the war, their culpability had been absconded into the histories. The Western Allies are to blame for this fact, which was overshadowed due to the Cold War. The United States needed West Germany on their side, since it was the front line against the Soviet Union. For a time after World War II, the Wehrmacht was portrayed as the unknowing hand of Adolf Hitler, fighting a legitimate war of nations and not involved in the genocide which was conducted by the Schutzstaffel (SS) and other Nazi police forces. It is well known now, that is not the case. The war in the East was a war of annihilation and the Wehrmacht was just as complicit as the death squads at Auschwitz. To begin with, the intention of Hitler and the Wehrmacht leaders to exclude Jews from the Wehrmacht was unambiguous. At the same time however, it was not possible to make this racist principle a reality in pure form. From the beginning, exceptions to the rule were granted, primarily for veterans with service at the front in the Great War. Now the Defense Law introduced further regulations against Jews entering the military. Within the Wehrmacht lists were in circulation in which an individual s amount of Jewish blood was listed in percentages. Full Jews were not allowed in the Wehrmacht. Roosevelt emphasizes the need for action through the use of biblical allusions and referring to himself as the prophet is this time of need, taking the role of Jesus, declaring, The money changers have fled from their high seats in the temple of our civilization. We may now restore that temple to the ancient truths. ; he plays upon the social needs as well as builds up his credibility with the audience by stating his plan to combat the depression, broad Executive power to wage a war against the emergency, as great as the power that would be given to me if we were in fact invaded by a foreign foe. ; and cements his argument with his claims of value and policy, exposing the flaws of pre depression American society, and eventually calling for the change he believes necessary to force America out of the depression, we apply social values more noble than mere monetary profit. . • 29. Descriptive Essay On A Strip Club As part of the child custody agreement with Shane, every other weekend I was required to drive an hour south to exchange my youngest daughter with him. I once sat down and added up all the miles and money that had gone into driving that route back and forth, and realized I could have driven around the world and gotten a lovely vacation out it. But instead, it was just Bowling Green. Several years into this bi monthly drive, a new establishment opened up right off the highway, Club54, on the outskirts of Bowling Green. It was, amazingly enough, a strip club. Now over the years, I have taken a liking to strip clubs, I ve been in many, all over the country, but was actually quite surprised that this little tiny town, in the middle of nowhere now had one, and could not resist checking it out. Dropping off my daughter, and after the brief, cold exchange that always went with it, Billy and I jumped back into my car and headed for Bowling Green s newest attraction, eagerly excited to see what it had to offer. Pulling up into the almost empty parking lot, we paused to look over the white, windowless, nondescript, kinda shabby looking building, giving each other a questioning look about our life choices. With a shrug, I giggled as we jumped out of the car, hollering, To the nekid ladies! and Billy hooted his approval. Walking in the door, it was a bit ragged at that end, a dimly lit pool table off to the side, old worn down carpeting, and 70 s style decor. Beginning to wonder if ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Dulce Et Decorum Est Figurative Language Wilfred Owen s Dulce et Decorum Est (1917) is one of the most famous poems to appear from the ranks of the soldier poets who fought during the WWI. He reacts to the war, showing that reality is contaminated and dishonored, changing conventional poetic techniques into something that appears to be rather ordinary on the outside. In the poem, Owen shows the critical versions of reality by using figurative language, imagery, and irony. First of all, the author uses simile, which is one form of figurative languages, to support the idea of exhaust and pain during the war which contradicts the belief that it is sweet and honorable to die for your country. Bent double, like old beggars under sacks, knock kneed, coughing like hags, we cursed through sludge. (Owen, 1917, stanza 1, line 1 2) From this quote, it is able to infer that participating war is wearing since the soldiers walk countless miles, which Owen himself compares the them as beggars and hags. But someone still was yelling out and stumbling. And flound ring like a man in fire or lime. (Owen, 1917, stanza 2, line 3 4) This quote describes the soldier that could not wear ... • 34. Satire in the Tragedies of Euripides The world of Euripides tragedies was one that espoused ancient ideas of religion. The belief in ancient legends that formed subject material for the tragic drama had passed. The crowd that attended the theater at this time did so as a sort of religious celebration. It was under these circumstances that Euripides had to bury what might have been his true beliefs, and instead replace them with ideas that would relate to his audience. This did not mean that Euripides had to forgo his beliefs entirely. Rather, this meant that Euripides had to include his own interpretations of these ancient beliefs in a way that was not outwardly corrupt or blasphemous. Is it then Just exclaims Ion, that you who gave the laws / to mortals, should yourselves transgress those laws? (lines 450 451). Ion goes on to express his contempt with the gods that can clearly be seen as satirical: The penalty of forced embraces, thou, Neptune, and Jove, that reigns supreme in heaven, Will leave your temples treasure less by paying The mulcts of your injustice (lines 454 457). This reveals the nature of the satire that Euripides chose to pursue. This was more of a rhetorical example of how the gods fail in their own laws, yet man is bound by them. In using the fallacy of begging the question, Euripides allows for the audience to think that they can answer the question differently, yet Euripides has already put the conclusion, or answer, within the prose by using the premise, Will leave your temples treasure less... (line 456). In Heracles, as translated by E.P. Coleridge, we can see a similar sort of satire being used to question the gods. Amphytron, husband of Alcmene, who is the mother of Heracles, continuously uses satire when speaking of the gods. Family, Friends and Lovers reminded me of situations that I have experienced in the past. I can honestly relate to this episode in so many ways, such as my outlook on family and friends. The first few people that babies ever know are their family. Infants value their mother/caregiver more than anyone. From birth they tend to form a bond with their caregiver, in which is known as attachment. Due to their family members being the first people they interact with they learn how to relate with people at home. Family relationship is practice to what is next; meaning the relationships people gain with their family helps them prepare for future relationship with others. Friendships can be very helpful because no one wants to be lonely. It is quite nice to have someone else to hang and interact with besides family. It is great to have a friend that you can connect with. In the episode, Family, Friends and Lovers Harry Harlow Monkey Love Experiment was mentioned. In this experiment, he separated infant monkeys from their mothers a few hours after birth, and then arranged for them to be raised by two kinds of surrogate monkey mothers. Implementation Of A New Operating System Ava s software company has received a contract to design an operating system which runs and operates a computer system used to handle stock buying and selling process. Which scheduling strategy would you recommend for this new operating system? Please support your answer and provide reasons for it. (10 points) Ans) In the computer world, multitasking is a method where multiple tasks or processes are performed during the same period of time that is they are executed concurrently. Multitasking doesn t necessarily means that multiple tasks are executing at exactly the same instant. As such, more than one undertaking can be part path through execution in the meantime, and that more than one errand is propelling more than a time of time is called multitasking, not at all like parallel execution. Operating system might adopt one of many scheduling strategies, which normally fall into the following categories: 1) Multiprogramming: In these systems, the running task keeps running until it performs an operation that requires waiting for an external event or until the running task is forcibly swapped out of the CPU by the computer s scheduler. These systems are designed to maximize the processor usage.
