Consumer Behaviour Towards the Islamic Banking – “Customer...
1.0 INTRODUCTION
In this current era, businesses play the most important role in developing a country s reputation. It is
because a nation s wealth is determined by concerning on certain aspects as one of it is the economical
factor. As far as we know, businesses are the main sectors of a nation where it decides the economical
status of a nation.
Apart from that, banking operations are also one of the factors which contribute to the economical
growth of a country. The main core business of the banking corporation is being a financial institution
and a financial intermediary that accepts deposits and channels those deposits into lending activities,
either directly or through capital markets. Moreover, a bank also connects the customers ... Show more

Syariah prohibits the fixed or floating payment or acceptance of specific interest or fees (known as
Riba or usury) for loans of money. The word Riba means excess, increase or addition, which
according to Syariah terminology, implies any excess compensation without due consideration
(consideration does not include time value of money). However, these principles may have been
applied to historical Islamic economies and in the late 20th century that a number of Islamic banks
were formed to apply these principles to private or semi private commercial institutions within the
Muslim community.
In early Islamic banking, a number of economic concepts and techniques were applied, including bills
of exchange, partnership (mufawada) such as limited partnerships (mudaraba), and forms of capital (al
mal), capital accumulation (nama al mal), cheques, promissory notes, trusts, transactional accounts,
loaning, ledgers and assignments. Organizational enterprises independent from the state also existed in
the medieval Islamic world, while the agency institution was also introduced during that time. Many
of these early capitalist concepts were adopted and further advanced in medieval Europe from the 13th
century onwards.
Besides that, Islamic Banking is growing at a rate of 10 15% per year in this modern era with the signs
of consistent future growth. Islamic banks have more than 300 institutions spread over 51 countries,
including the United States

The Definition Of Religion In The Sacred Canopy, By Peter...
Both Peter Berger, in his book The Sacred Canopy and Durkheim in his book The Elementary Forms
of Life understand religion as a phenomenon that provides a frame of reference within which humans
order the universe. Though some may say that the sociology of religion deems too many societal
phenomena as religious, the issue is not a problem of method, but of definition. If religion is defined
as man s way of orienting himself within the world, then it follows that everything he does, makes,
and interacts with could be considered a religious act. Therefore, an analysis of Durkheim s and
Berger s definition of religion suggests every aspect of society will possess a religious dimension to it.
In The Elementary Forms of Religion Durkheim ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Practically everything on society created by man will have a trace of religion in it because it is through
these various interactions with the world that he finds purpose. Aspects of the social world such as
politics, economics, and science are all simply ways of trying to find order and meaning in the world,
and therefore they all possess a trace of religiosity . America s democracy, which prides itself on being
among the first nations to rid itself of divine right and have a separation of church and state, still
functions as religion. Concepts such as The American Dream functions as one of the nation s core
beliefs because it grants the people a sense of agency and goal for their struggle in the workforce.
Moreover, the American Constitution sees rights as natural and self evident and therefore irrevocable.
However, they are also simply social constructs as proven by the fact that they are constantly being
changed, revoked, and disputed. Therefore, the ways in which America s government and politics to
offer national identity and cohesion, could be deemed a civil religion. On the same token, science is
just another way to try and order the world and works similar to religion. Scientific categories such as
classifying living beings into three domains of life seem self evident and legitimate, but it is simply
another man made way to understand the world. It still fulfills Berger s purpose of religion which is to
simply to orient man in the context of the entire universe. Though modern science seemingly does so
with humility, which is not seen in typical religion. Science even grants a purpose for man in the
universe, just pure and basic

Ethical Reasoning
A Review of Ethical reasoning and online social media The authors explore the idea that the use of
social media is prevalent among student and new nurses. There are little understood social and ethical
implications surrounding this use. In the absence of a concrete understanding of the professional
nursing accountability, the work and educational faculties are left to provide needed guidance for these
two groups. There is limited research illuminating student nurses understanding of the ANA s
Principles for Social Networking or their accountability for their social media posts and how they
relate to the ANA Code of Ethics (Englund, Chappy, Jambunathan Gohdes, 2012). The University of

Follow Filial Piety In Confucianism
In the teachings of Confucius, there are concepts ranging from jūnzǐ to zhì, but the two key teachings
that are predominant in both Analects and Menzi readings are lǐ and xiào. Lǐ refers to having certain
rules to follow for proper behavior, while xiào refers to practicing filial piety with in ones family,
friends, and ruler. Furthermore, an example that shows lǐ is shown in Book Ten of the Analects,
showing how proper behavior has to be altered depending on the situation that one is in (Ivanhoe: 27).
Proper behavior has to be shown at all times, but there are distinct situations where more respectful
behavior is required. Overall, having rules for proper behavior keeps order within Confucius families,
rulers and essentially the universe. Having this proper behavior not only shows respect for others, but
it also shows how knowledgeable one is (Ivanhoe: 27).
Additionally, xiào is shown in the Analects by the way in which Book seventeen represents it. Analect
17.9 does not specifically talk about how to follow filial piety, but it provides an example on how
education will teach you how to follow filial piety (Ivanhoe: 44). Following filial piety in
Confucianism also keeps order in society, by assuring the people to respect their elders. This also
shows how everything is connected back to the family. Ancestors are very important with in the ...

certain path in life (Mengzi: 133). Mengzi expands more on several paths more than others, making it
obvious that those are the ones to follow. Similar to the Analects, Mengzi shows xiào within the texts
in 1A7, by describing how filial piety should be followed, extending from the family level to the ruler
level (Menzi: 118). Filial piety is described to be a practice that brings success to ones family;
therefore it should be followed (Menzi:

Unknown #19
The purpose of this study is to identify an unknown bacterium from a mixed culture. We identified the
unknown bacteria through different biochemical tests and identified the many metabolic capabilities of
the bacteria. Studying and discovering unknown bacteria is very important in the health field as it may
lead to new medicines and innovations for current, existing diseases as well as any upcoming diseases.
The discovery of unknown bacteria is very useful in the pharmaceutical industry, as most of the
products prepared are made based on these unknown organisms.
The biochemical tests used to identify the unknown bacteria included: phenol red broth test (glucose,
lactose, and sucrose), methyl red and Voges Proskauer test, citrate test, indole test, H2S production
test, urea test and motility test. The PR broths are used to differentiate members of Enterobacteriaceae
and to distinguish these members from other gram negative rods. The PR broths are useful in
determining a bacterium s fermentation abilities. If the bacterium is able to utilize the carbohydrate,
then the acid production from fermentation lowers pH, which in turn turns the broth yellow. However,
if the bacterium is unable to utilize the carbohydrate, but does utilize the peptone, which produces the
by product ammonia, the medium will have a rise in pH turning the broth pink.
The methyl red and Voges Proskauer tests

The Goals Of Imperialism
Imperialism has increased peace and stability for various areas of the world through limiting slavery,
improving land distribution and promoting different political systems. The first topic that I will be
addressing is slavery. The goal of imperialism was to help areas who seem uncivilized , and from the
start of this movement many people stated that they wanted to abolish slavery. Thomas Sowell (an
american economist) once explained, The anti slavery movement was spearheaded by people who
would today be called the religious right and its organization was created by conservative
businessmen. Moreover, what destroyed slavery in the non Western world was Western imperialism.

Before imperialism, africa was very discombobulated and did not have real boundaries. However,
europeans were able to create boundary lines resulting in a more peaceful and organized continent. In
fact the Atlantic newspaper concludes, The threats of destabilizing war, of coups and counter coups,
have eased since the first independent African leaders pledged to uphold European drawn borders .
The final aspect that i would like to address is political effects. Although imperialism did not
necessarily offer many political rights to citizens for much of the 19th century, it acted as a blessing in
disguise for future population, introducing nationalism and democracy to africa and asia. It also
brought political unity to india. As Norton college explained, British efforts to unify India laid the
foundation for Indians to create a national identity, particularly when Indians were excluded from full
citizenship in the British system This exposure encouraged countries to fight for independence so they
could utilize these systems in the future. In 1913, Woodrow Wilson, created the League of nations in
an attempt to achieve world peace. Although it was not successful, it inspired the creation of the
modern United Nations, which has proven to be helpful in the world today. As an author for

This is mostly true. Many events lead to the cause of the colonies uniting, fear being a major part.
When the US bought Alaska from Russia, the British North Americans were separating two areas of
the US. The central part was controlled by the Hudson s Bay Company. The BNA feared the US
would enter the colonies with their army. Britain s concern began to grow as the future for the
Northwest territories and Rupert s Land became more and more uncertain. This concern doubled with
the discovery of gold in BC. Britain was worried that this would lead to conflict with the US. The Irish

Essay about Hair Dying
Hair Dying
As people look around the different cities of our fair country, one might notice that many people
nowadays are coloring their hair to cover grey or just for the fun of it. One difference among the
younger generation and the older generation is the colors that are chosen for their hair. The younger
generation of this day and age seem to prefer wild colors such as Infra Red, Mystic Heather, Deadly
Nightshade, Tiger Lily, etc, as self expression compared to the older generation choosing natural
shades to cover the signs of aging. This can be seen in the rising number of young people that are seen
around with these types of wild colors. Not all young people choose the wild colors over natural
shades because some choose the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The website states that these celebrities use the hair colors often. This site is evidence that the trend of
dying one s hair a wild shade exists in the United States. Other companies are also taking part in the
wild hair color business so as to keep up with the current competition. Companies such as BWild, Hot
Head, and even Jerome Russell are participating in the trend of wild hair color to accommodate both
the younger and the older population.
On the other hand, classic companies such as Clairol, Dark Lovely and L Oreal still offer the majority
of the natural hair colors that one can buy in a store such as Wal Mart. These companies can have a
productive future as long as they are able to keep up with all other forms of competition. As to my
current knowledge, none of these companies offer outrageous colors such as Pillarbox Red, or
AfterMidnight. Sticking to the traditional colors is not a bad thing because there is still a business in
natural hair colors. People still like to color their hair so it looks like the color they used to have or a
lighter or darker shade of the color they presently have. The largest group to purchase hair color
products in the older generation is women. They might do this because they see grey coming in or are
trying a new look out.
CNN.com knew that hair coloring was a big trend as early as 1996. (Klensch, 1996). They predicted
that the trend would continue on into 1997 but it

The Most Shocking Event That Occurred During World War One
If you were to consider the most shocking event that occurred during world war one and two, the first
thing that might come to mind would probably be the Holocaust. And it certainly is a significant
occurrence, rivaling even the war itself, but not a lot of people know that before this happened, during
world war one, the Armenians faced a similar oppression from the Ottoman Empire. The Armenian
Genocide was intently executed by the Ottoman Empire for accusation of alignment with the Soviet
Union and was concealed under the guise of move due to war. Before delving further there are
proceeding events that must be examined, such as what was taking place concurrently during WWI.
Arthur Bright from The Christian Science Monitor stated that according to the Turks the reason the
Armenians were targeted was not intentional, Ottoman Empire s relocation policy wasn t targeted at
Armenians because of their ethnic identity rather, the Ottomans were targeting insurgent groups within
the Armenian community. So much like the United states amidst WW2 when any Japanese persons
were taking to camps during times of war. However, in this case as one begins to see what happened
before and during, it becomes clear that it was a lot more than just a simple relocation.
The Armenian population were taken out of their homes and on convoys on which they were
transported to concentration camps. Some of the biggest relocations were the convoys from Erzurum
which as stated in The

Symptoms, Diagnosis, And Treatment
Sacrococcygeal tumors (SCT) are relatively rare, affecting approximately 1:35,000 live births[1].
However, it is the most common tumor presenting in newborn humans[2]. They occur more
commonly in girls (70 80%) and they usually present in one of two clinical patterns: neonates with
large predominately benign tumors (mature and immature teratomas); or, infants and children between
birth and 4 years of age with primarily pelvic, malignant (yolk sac) tumors Before routine antenatal
ultrasound examinations became widely accepted, the most common presentation was as a large sacral
mass that is immediately obvious at birth[3]. However, with the advent of routine antenatal
ultrasound, the most common presentation is now antenatal diagnosis by ultrasonography[4]. Benign
SCT are usually asymptomatic in utero and diagnosed antenatally. Symptoms, if present, are caused
by the pressure of the tumor on the nearby organs and include bowel dysfunction (constipation up to
colon obstruction), venous and lymphatic obstruction of the legs resulting in lower limb edema. The
presence of symptoms usually suggests a malignant lesion. Urinary symptoms are very rare even in
malignant tumors[5]. We searched the literature for reported cases of urine retention caused by SCT
and found only few sporadic cases reported. A) Case Report A 2 months old male baby presented to

Persuasive Essay On Visit To College
No matter what grade you re in, campus visits in any form are beneficial. A camp at the university or
college, a campus event, or your usual campus visit are all great ways to experience the place you re
considering calling home for your college years. My mom had some great advice in this process for
me which was what helped keep my somewhat levelheaded during the college decision process.
Don t wait until senior year to do your visits
This is a sure way to be incredibly stressed out. Amongst all the efforts to survive the year, don t put
yourself in the situation of making a four hour trip one way to visit a campus. It s a huge mistake.
My mom got onto me about this. She was excited for me to be preparing for this next adventure in my
life, but she and I had to coordinate schedules to make four or five hour drives over the course of a
day or a weekend.
With two of my visits, we drove down on Saturday, spent the night, did some seeing around town
(mostly involving food) on Sunday, and visited the campus on Monday in the morning so we could
drive back home on Monday. Make the most of your trip to the campus, especially if it s farther away
from home. Find a couple places to check out or make your study home while you re in school.

If this is hard to believe, the case of Eugene Debs demonstrates how it was done. Debs lectured fellow
socialists on the detriments of the draft. In his speech he stated, The poor, ignorant serfs had been
taught to revere their masters; to believe that when their masters declared war upon another, it was
their patriotic duty to fall upon one another... The master class has always declared the wars; the
subject class has always fought the battles... I would rather a thousand times be a free soul in jail than
to be a sycophant and coward in the streets . Debs did just that, this speech cost him ten years in
prison. Many would say that he was only speaking his mind, and he should be able to do that, but the
government had most power, and they got the final say. Charles Schenck had a similar case. While
passing out pamphlets giving men reasons to not join the army, he was arrested and charged with
violating the Espionage Act. Again, he was only trying to inform people of the disturbing side of the
war. After the Espionage Act, came the Sedition Act in 1918. The Sedition Act did not allow language
tending to incite, provoke, and encourage resistance to the United States in said war . This Act
infringed further on people s First Amendment rights. Individuals abilities to express themselves were
curtailed. One of the people that went against this Act was Joseph Abrams. Abrams was a Russian
immigrant who did not agree with the Americans invading Russia. Because of this,

Marriage and Individuality
God created marriage as a union between man and woman. A woman, while still having a mind of her
own and control over her own life, is under the authority of her husband. This frightens some women,
who fear oppression at the hands of their husbands. While it is true that some men abuse the system
that God set up for man and woman, not all men act as such. The Bible states monogamy is what God
laid down as a foundational law of marriage,
[...the Creator made them male and female...] For this reason a man will leave his father and mother
and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh ? So they are no longer two, but one
flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate. (Mathew 19.5 6).

Harriet finds Phoebe, an old friend from her years in college, interesting, because her marriage is like
a dream. She has not changed a bit, and although she has children, she and her husband continue to go
gallivanting about the world in search of adventure (Sayers, 14 15). Though Phoebe and her husband
are not very successful parents, Phoebe s marriage is one of the success stories that begin to change
Harriet s mindset about the concept of marriage from it being repulsive to it being something
desirable. Marriage is works through compromise between the husband and wife; a woman who does
not wish to be a housewife, but prefers to work can discuss her feelings with her husband in order to
generate a resolution that leaves both the adults and the children happy with the result.
Marriage is a union of two people, melding their old lives with their new one. Mark and Jane insist on
maintaining entirely separate lives, which keeps their marriage from working (That Hideous Strength,

with one another (Talboys, 32). When a couple is united, they can combat any force that comes against
them. In Talboys, Harriet s whole opinion on the institution of marriage has shifted. She and her
husband, Lord Peter Wimsey, get along very well, and she is still able to write, and he, detect criminal

The Pedestrian Essay
Utopia and dystopia:
Ray Bradbury s short story The Pedestrian
Ray Bradbury s short story The Pedestrian is a dramatic illustration of the dangers of living in a world
where contact with nature is deemed so abnormal that even walking alone at night is a crime. The
dystopian story revolves around the tale of a man named Leonard Mead, living during a time period
not so far away from our own, in 2053 CE. In the story, a robotic police car is so suspicious of Mead s
walking behavior during one pleasant night that he is taken away to a psychiatric hospital. In the new
world, desiring televised rather than real experience is considered normal. People only venture out
during the day when it is required for their work. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In many communities, walking behavior does appear to be unusual, because it looks so uncommon,
despite the natural physiological aspect of walking. Riding in a car is seen as more normal, just like a
robotic policeman is seen as more normal in the Bradbury story. Today, people do still walk, but often
on a moving conveyor belt at the gym, rather in a real environment. This takes people away from
nature and a sense of being part of something larger than themselves. Although Bradbury does not
specifically discuss the physical risks of inactivity, the nation s climbing obesity rate is clear evidence
of the fact that Americans are moving less and instead turning to sedentary pastimes to unwind. From
Bradbury s perspective in time, the dangers of television were the greatest risk posed to enjoying
hands on, real world activities. Today, there are even more varied sedentary distractions, spanning
from the Internet, to mobile phones, to video games. In the modern world, we are increasingly
categorized by our technological devices. Our cellphones, cars, and computers define our identities,
rather than our bodies. We are losing the ability to amuse ourselves in the outside world. But it is our
connection to nature, stripped of technology, which is essential to our individuality, not the programs
we watch on television or the appearance of our cellphones. Bradbury s dystopian story provides a
warning that is clearly not being heeded. Although we may have more technological

The Re birth, Revolt, and Removal of the Cherokee
The Cherokee were forced into giving up most of their land in the eighteenth century. Through

the biggest loses coming from Henderson s Purchase , in Kentucky, 1775. In an effort to stop the

constitution in 1827. The Cherokees became prime example of a developing Indian, and were labeled

and began competing with American traders, instead of having to rely on their goods to survive. Their
newfound education also helped in their ability to reason, and bargain. Another important aspect in
this renascence, that affected Indian education, was the emergence of mixed blood Indians. The mixed

They adopted many European customs while outlining American way of life, such as, a representative

Clostridium Difficile Analysis
Clostridium difficile is a gram positive bacterium responsible for over 10,000 deaths annually in the
United States alone. C. difficile is an opportunistic pathogen that has progressively become antibiotic
resistant in several strains. The bacterium strives in hosts currently taking antibiotics where there is no
competition between commensal microbiota. Common known symptoms of C. difficile infections
(CDIs) include diarrhea, fever, and toxic megacolon. Primary virulent factors of the bacterium
currently being researched are the endotoxins, C. difficile toxin A (TcdA) and B (TcdB). Both toxins
bind to receptors of gut epithelial cells and are endocytosed leading to the inactivation of Rho type
GTPases. With the activity of these enzymes nullified, the cytoskeleton of cells are unstable and
eventually die (Hernandez, et al., 2015). Merck Company., Inc is currently testing the humanized

patients require additional care can cost to up to an additional ten thousand dollars (Wilkins Lyerly,

impotent to antibiotic resistant strains. The use of mAbs for CDIs could replace the use of antibiotics
and vaccines used for CDIs, severely reducing relevant medical expenses so it is expected the market
is pretty high. MK 3415A and other related mAbs are still undergoing research and clinical trials so
bioprocessing protocols to produce mass amounts are not yet available. Current research only shows
the MK 3415A as a treatment for CDIS and has no other yet known applications. However, the

Social Disorganization 2
Introduction
The two theorist that developed the social disorganization theory were Clifford Shaw and Henry D.
Mckay according to their book Juvenile Delinquency in Urban Areas they created this theory
throughout research they were doing. The two theorists of the social disorganization theory were
criminology researchers from the Chicago School . Social disorganization theory is at the macro level.
It looks among different communities and neighborhoods. And it studies many people in the
neighborhoods not just one single individual. This theory is the most valid at the macro level because
crime rates are explained better in this theory than any other. How Shaw and Mckay created ... Show

One policy implication of the theory is community project and create social organizations. Some of
the ways they can do this is clean up disorder, have recreation programs for youth and increase
influence over politicians. Another policy implication is gang intervention. This is where trained gang
intervention workers connect with gang members to provide crisis intervention to stop future violent
situations, make peace treaties between rival gangs and provide positive opportunities to gang
members like occupational training, employment and drug alcohol abuse treatment. Last policy
implication of the theory is crime prevention and treatment. When neighborhoods try to get all the
residents living in that neighborhood to join together to improve the neighborhood and solve local

Cutting edge:
SAF will have to move closer to the cutting edge and effective technologies which optimize the global
arms market. The transforming phase of technological innovation makes cutting edge ineffective.
Although there are some indications of countermeasures to optimize technology. It even moves more
to the global cutting edge of military technology requires spending more amount of money. The SAF
use the technology as force multipliers and particularly in the place of C4I integration which makes to
operate its different units in an incorporated manner. The Navy, Air Force, and Army are interrelated
through the advanced data links and networks to make coordinated attacks and support for several
forces. Technology is the essential factor in the SAF transformation into 3rd generation fighting force.
The SAF recognize that technology is significant for reducing the limitations of a small population of
Singapore. It has one of the largest defense budgets on the Asia Pacific regions where Singapore
emphasized to maintain the spending on superior and sophisticated weaponry. The experimentation
and research help to create technological edge where the SAF had rudimentary capabilities. It is one of
the largest employers of scientist and engineers in Singapore. SAF tends to make considerable
resources to defense research and development and the experimentation. The education system of

Examples Of Westernization Of Asia
Dannielle Vogel
Professor Scott James
History 101
Microtheme #2
The Westernization of Asia
The mid to late 1800s was a time of intensive change for many on the Asian continent. It was a time
for innovation and modernization in which some embraced, while others fought to halt progress and
maintain tradition. Japan was the most positively affected by westernization as a country, and they
utilized it in ways to benefit their country and still maintain their independence and identity. China and
Korea were bystanders to the change, they did not welcome westernization or foreign influences, and
according to Fukuzawa Yukichi, they did ...not know how to progress either personally or as a nation,
(Yukichi, 1885). In his article Good bye Asia, Yukichi speaks of Japan s embrace of westernization as
a commodity, he is an enthusiastic advocate for the convenience awarded by modern transportation
and the necessary changes to Japan s government system.
Japan was among the first Asian civilizations to embrace innovation with open arms. Though their
respect for traditions did not waiver, they were (minus the ruling caste) open to change and
advancements in technology. Asian cultures have, for the entirety of history, had more advancements
in technology and have placed a higher value on education than almost any other culture around the
world. It is no surprise that when the Japanese found out about the railroad system, that they would
want to construct their own railways to enhance

Appropriateness Of The Conceptual Models Relating To...
Many behavior and social problems observed in children are related to poor classroom interventions
that are designed to meet those needs. It is important that these models are applied during children s
development through positive interactions in the family, childcare centre, school and the community.
However, not all conceptual models are appropriate in assisting student with behavior problems.
Therefore, this essay will discuss appropriateness of the conceptual models to assisting students with
behavior problems in schools that includes Biological/biophysical, Psychodynamic, Behavioural,
Cognitive behavioural, Sociological and Ecological models. Also this essay will explain how they can
be accommodated by professionals to create a supportive early childhood, and promoting positive
school climate to foster wellbeing, development and learning.
The first model is the biological/biophysical model which generate negative expectations for
individuals with disabilities that resulted from biophysical etiologies (Rosenberg, Wilson, Maheady,
Sindelar, 2004).Therefore , this model is inappropriate as some professional working with students
with known biophysical impairment can be judgmental and low expectations of their performance
(Kauffman,1985). Hence, professional and educators must be responsible to educate all students with
no exceptions. They should integrate key principles into everyday instructional techniques and
classroom practices and looking for opportunities to

Compare And Contrast Animal Farm And The Russian Revolution
Many of the characters and events of Orwell s novel are parallel those of the Russian Revolution: In
short, Manor Farm is a model of Russia, and old Major, Snowball, and Napoleon represent the
dominant figures of the Russian Revolution. They were very violent and just wanted to push it off like
nothing happened. One of Orwell s goals in writing Animal Farm was to illustrate the Russian
Revolution of 1917 as one that resulted in a government more oppressive, totalitarian, and deadly. Mr.
Jones is modeled on Tsar Nicholas II, the last Russian emperor. His rule was marked by his insistence
that he was the uncontested ruler of the nation. During his reign, the Russian people experienced

Briefly Outline the Distinctive Features of the...
Sociology is the systematic, sceptical and critical study of the way that people do things together .It s
not a science that simply lists facts and figures about society. Instead it becomes a form of
consciousness, a way of thinking, a critical way of seeing the world. It welcomes you to challenge the
obvious, to question the world as it is taken for granted and to de familiarising the familiar. This is
what empowers critical thinking which triggers the development of the understanding of the human
life. The aim of this essay is to outline the sociological approach to understanding human life , to

by social context. He claims that some things in society lead to certain outcomes. when a society
becomes industrialised , a peasant becomes a worker . Therefore the things we do are shaped by the
situation we are in, the values we have. I believe that all three approaches differ but where they all
overlap is in their belief that a person must be able to pull away from the situation and to think from
an alternative point of view. To acquire real knowledge is to go against the status quo. 1. The first

is the functional perspective, this recognises that our lives are guided by social structures. It therefore

function of each one. This is a building block for theories that see society as a complex system whose

Descriptive Essay About Waffle House
Every Friday my coworker, Kayleigh, and I always go and eat at Waffle House. It became a tradition
and my aunt works there so it s a welcoming environment. Usually after eating dinner we will go to
Walmart where we always end up spending money. Going out every Friday gives us time to just relax
and gossip after work. Since we are going right after work, we always have our hideous, yellow KOA
shirts on. Sometimes people will recognize us from work and start conversations about the
campground. I am honestly not a very outgoing person, so I try to avoid these conversations as much
as possible. There was one Friday that topped all the rest. This is an experience that I will never be
able to forget. As Kayleigh and I left work, we headed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

us. Directly after entering the store, a strange man complemented our work shirts. This set off a
strange feeling knowing that we were wearing these yellow, plain T shirts. We continued walking and
went towards the makeup section, the section where I spend all my money. When turning down the
first aisle, I managed to make weird eye contact with this man that had on a Denny s uniform and had
several tattoos. I never thought anything about it until I seen him again shortly after leaving the
makeup section. I informed Kayleigh about the man and that he was still behind us. Trying to ignore
it, we went to the grocery side because who doesn t love buying snacks to stash at work. We went
straight to the chip aisle first to grab some Cheetos. As we began to leave this aisle, Kayleigh pointed
out that he was walking past which made me want to leave right then. By this point I was starting to
feel as if I was petrified. Why would this man be following us around the store and not be saying
anything? I spotted one of my friends and that was the perfect opportunity to show this man that we
know other people in the store. I was hoping that by talking to somebody, this dark haired, lanky man
would decide to give up and move on. He just casually strolled by acting like he was minding his own
business. We decided to go ahead and check out so that we

Prostate Cancer Research Paper
Prostate cancer is considered as the most commonly diagnosed cancer in men, in the U. S and most
cases of prostate cancer have a good prognosis. Some of these cases can be aggressive and the death
rate is assessed to be 2.8%. The Prostate specific antigen (PSA) test is used for screening for prostate
cancer, to aid early detection and treatment.
Prostate specific antigen (PSA) test Prostate specific antigen (PSA) is a protein produced by the
prostate gland, found in the blood. Blood sample is utilized to check PSA levels and Lab results are
reported in nanograms of PSA per milliliter (ng/mL) of blood. 4 ng/mL is considered to be the normal
level of PSA. Levels of PSA in the blood may be elevated in patients who have prostate ... Show more

Although PSA Screening tests can facilitate to detect prostate cancer in its early stage, there is
controversy and concern about patient being unnecessarily treated and over diagnosed. The reliability
of prostate specific antigen (PSA) testing is very poor. PSA values could be false positive caused by
conditions such as benign prostatic hyperplasia, ejaculation, perineal trauma and PSA value cannot be
used to rule out prostate cancer. PSA screening misses a considerable number of patients with PCa
(false negatives) and wrongly suspects or false positives (Hayat, Nordin and Berglund, 2013).
Sensitivity of the test is determined with the percentage of people tested with the disease that had
positive results equals the number of patients that were true positive. The cut off range for an
abnormal PSA screening is 4.0 ng/mL. The American Cancer Society estimated that, the sensitivity of
a PSA levels cutoff of 4.0 ng/mL, was twenty one percent for detecting any prostate cancer and fifty
one percent for detecting high grade cancers (Gleason ≥8). Validity of the test can be determined by
the ability of its screening to accurately identify, if the patient has the disease or not. With PSA
screening alone, one cannot validate if the patient has prostate cancer and other diagnostic tests such
as digital rectal exam

The Kinds Of Dogs

Overcoming Homelessness
It is estimated that over a half million people in America are currently living without homes, sleeping
instead in crowded shelters, parks, bus stations, and other places not meant for human
accommodation. Many who are unfamiliar with this stigmatizing situation presume there is a simple
solution to this social crisis. Get a job! they say, attributing the homeless wretched situation to
laziness. However, overcoming homelessness is not that simple. Contrary to popular belief, the vast
majority of vagrants do work or try to find work, but due to factors in the economy beyond their
control, they find homelessness nearly insurmountable. [economic aspects?] For many in America,
homelessness is nigh inescapable due to economic impediments such as the availability/affordability
of housing, the discrepancy between the cost of living and low income, and the difficulty in securing a
stable income. One major obstacle in overcoming homelessness is obtaining a home itself. The decline
in the availability and affordability of housing makes living in a secure home a dream for many.
Although there are homeless shelters, public housing, and subsidized housing available, they are
rather limited in space, not to mention typically ranging from substandard to outright terrible
conditions. Many who have tried living in shelters avoid it because there are more problems living in
one than on the street; there are often many problems living in a shelter they report of, such as
overcrowding,

It is because a nation s wealth is determined by concerning on certain aspects as one of it is the economical factor. As far as we know, businesses are the main sectors of a nation where it decides the economical status of a nation. Apart from that, banking operations are also one of the factors which contribute to the economical growth of a country. The main core business of the banking corporation is being a financial institution and a financial intermediary that accepts deposits and channels those deposits into lending activities, either directly or through capital markets. Moreover, a bank also connects the customers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Syariah prohibits the fixed or floating payment or acceptance of specific interest or fees (known as Riba or usury) for loans of money. The word Riba means excess, increase or addition, which according to Syariah terminology, implies any excess compensation without due consideration (consideration does not include time value of money). However, these principles may have been applied to historical Islamic economies and in the late 20th century that a number of Islamic banks were formed to apply these principles to private or semi private commercial institutions within the Muslim community. In early Islamic banking, a number of economic concepts and techniques were applied, including bills of exchange, partnership (mufawada) such as limited partnerships (mudaraba), and forms of capital (al mal), capital accumulation (nama al mal), cheques, promissory notes, trusts, transactional accounts, loaning, ledgers and assignments. Organizational enterprises independent from the state also existed in the medieval Islamic world, while the agency institution was also introduced during that time. Many of these early capitalist concepts were adopted and further advanced in medieval Europe from the 13th century onwards. Besides that, Islamic Banking is growing at a rate of 10 15% per year in this modern era with the signs of consistent future growth. • 3. The Definition Of Religion In The Sacred Canopy, By Peter... Both Peter Berger, in his book The Sacred Canopy and Durkheim in his book The Elementary Forms of Life understand religion as a phenomenon that provides a frame of reference within which humans order the universe. Though some may say that the sociology of religion deems too many societal phenomena as religious, the issue is not a problem of method, but of definition. If religion is defined as man s way of orienting himself within the world, then it follows that everything he does, makes, and interacts with could be considered a religious act. Therefore, an analysis of Durkheim s and Berger s definition of religion suggests every aspect of society will possess a religious dimension to it. In The Elementary Forms of Religion Durkheim ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Practically everything on society created by man will have a trace of religion in it because it is through these various interactions with the world that he finds purpose. Aspects of the social world such as politics, economics, and science are all simply ways of trying to find order and meaning in the world, and therefore they all possess a trace of religiosity . America s democracy, which prides itself on being among the first nations to rid itself of divine right and have a separation of church and state, still functions as religion. Concepts such as The American Dream functions as one of the nation s core beliefs because it grants the people a sense of agency and goal for their struggle in the workforce. Moreover, the American Constitution sees rights as natural and self evident and therefore irrevocable. However, they are also simply social constructs as proven by the fact that they are constantly being changed, revoked, and disputed. Therefore, the ways in which America s government and politics to offer national identity and cohesion, could be deemed a civil religion. On the same token, science is just another way to try and order the world and works similar to religion. Scientific categories such as classifying living beings into three domains of life seem self evident and legitimate, but it is simply another man made way to understand the world. It still fulfills Berger s purpose of religion which is to simply to orient man in the context of the entire universe. Though modern science seemingly does so with humility, which is not seen in typical religion. Science even grants a purpose for man in the universe, just pure and basic ... There are little understood social and ethical implications surrounding this use. In the absence of a concrete understanding of the professional nursing accountability, the work and educational faculties are left to provide needed guidance for these two groups. There is limited research illuminating student nurses understanding of the ANA s Principles for Social Networking or their accountability for their social media posts and how they relate to the ANA Code of Ethics (Englund, Chappy, Jambunathan Gohdes, 2012). • 5. Follow Filial Piety In Confucianism In the teachings of Confucius, there are concepts ranging from jūnzǐ to zhì, but the two key teachings that are predominant in both Analects and Menzi readings are lǐ and xiào. Lǐ refers to having certain rules to follow for proper behavior, while xiào refers to practicing filial piety with in ones family, friends, and ruler. Furthermore, an example that shows lǐ is shown in Book Ten of the Analects, showing how proper behavior has to be altered depending on the situation that one is in (Ivanhoe: 27). Proper behavior has to be shown at all times, but there are distinct situations where more respectful behavior is required. Overall, having rules for proper behavior keeps order within Confucius families, rulers and essentially the universe. Having this proper behavior not only shows respect for others, but it also shows how knowledgeable one is (Ivanhoe: 27). Additionally, xiào is shown in the Analects by the way in which Book seventeen represents it. Analect 17.9 does not specifically talk about how to follow filial piety, but it provides an example on how education will teach you how to follow filial piety (Ivanhoe: 44). Following filial piety in Confucianism also keeps order in society, by assuring the people to respect their elders. This also shows how everything is connected back to the family. This text provides an example people should not follow, therefore making people not want to choose a certain path in life (Mengzi: 133). Mengzi expands more on several paths more than others, making it obvious that those are the ones to follow. Similar to the Analects, Mengzi shows xiào within the texts in 1A7, by describing how filial piety should be followed, extending from the family level to the ruler level (Menzi: 118). Filial piety is described to be a practice that brings success to ones family; therefore it should be followed (Menzi: ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Identifying The Unknown Bacteria From A Mixed Culture Identification of Enterobacter Aerogenes Annie Banh November 15, 2014 Jason Atkins Unknown #19 The purpose of this study is to identify an unknown bacterium from a mixed culture. We identified the unknown bacteria through different biochemical tests and identified the many metabolic capabilities of the bacteria. Studying and discovering unknown bacteria is very important in the health field as it may lead to new medicines and innovations for current, existing diseases as well as any upcoming diseases. The discovery of unknown bacteria is very useful in the pharmaceutical industry, as most of the products prepared are made based on these unknown organisms. The biochemical tests used to identify the unknown bacteria included: phenol red broth test (glucose, lactose, and sucrose), methyl red and Voges Proskauer test, citrate test, indole test, H2S production test, urea test and motility test. The PR broths are used to differentiate members of Enterobacteriaceae and to distinguish these members from other gram negative rods. The PR broths are useful in determining a bacterium s fermentation abilities. If the bacterium is able to utilize the carbohydrate, then the acid production from fermentation lowers pH, which in turn turns the broth yellow. However, if the bacterium is unable to utilize the carbohydrate, but does utilize the peptone, which produces the by product ammonia, the medium will have a rise in pH turning the broth pink. • 7. The Goals Of Imperialism Imperialism has increased peace and stability for various areas of the world through limiting slavery, improving land distribution and promoting different political systems. The first topic that I will be addressing is slavery. The goal of imperialism was to help areas who seem uncivilized , and from the start of this movement many people stated that they wanted to abolish slavery. Thomas Sowell (an american economist) once explained, The anti slavery movement was spearheaded by people who would today be called the religious right and its organization was created by conservative businessmen. Moreover, what destroyed slavery in the non Western world was Western imperialism. Nothing could be more jolting and discordant with the vision ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Before imperialism, africa was very discombobulated and did not have real boundaries. However, europeans were able to create boundary lines resulting in a more peaceful and organized continent. In fact the Atlantic newspaper concludes, The threats of destabilizing war, of coups and counter coups, have eased since the first independent African leaders pledged to uphold European drawn borders . The final aspect that i would like to address is political effects. Although imperialism did not necessarily offer many political rights to citizens for much of the 19th century, it acted as a blessing in disguise for future population, introducing nationalism and democracy to africa and asia. It also brought political unity to india. As Norton college explained, British efforts to unify India laid the foundation for Indians to create a national identity, particularly when Indians were excluded from full citizenship in the British system This exposure encouraged countries to fight for independence so they could utilize these systems in the future. In 1913, Woodrow Wilson, created the League of nations in an attempt to achieve world peace. Although it was not successful, it inspired the creation of the modern United Nations, which has proven to be helpful in the world today. As an author for UNconditional concludes, When I look back however, I feel that the United Nations has played the most significant role in those areas that are at the core of the Charter of ... When the US bought Alaska from Russia, the British North Americans were separating two areas of the US. The central part was controlled by the Hudson s Bay Company. The BNA feared the US would enter the colonies with their army. Britain s concern began to grow as the future for the Northwest territories and Rupert s Land became more and more uncertain. This concern doubled with the discovery of gold in BC. Britain was worried that this would lead to conflict with the US. Essay about Hair Dying Hair Dying As people look around the different cities of our fair country, one might notice that many people nowadays are coloring their hair to cover grey or just for the fun of it. One difference among the younger generation and the older generation is the colors that are chosen for their hair. The younger generation of this day and age seem to prefer wild colors such as Infra Red, Mystic Heather, Deadly Nightshade, Tiger Lily, etc, as self expression compared to the older generation choosing natural shades to cover the signs of aging. This can be seen in the rising number of young people that are seen around with these types of wild colors. Not all young people choose the wild colors over natural shades because some choose the ... This site is evidence that the trend of dying one s hair a wild shade exists in the United States. Other companies are also taking part in the wild hair color business so as to keep up with the current competition. Companies such as BWild, Hot Head, and even Jerome Russell are participating in the trend of wild hair color to accommodate both the younger and the older population. On the other hand, classic companies such as Clairol, Dark Lovely and L Oreal still offer the majority of the natural hair colors that one can buy in a store such as Wal Mart. These companies can have a productive future as long as they are able to keep up with all other forms of competition. As to my current knowledge, none of these companies offer outrageous colors such as Pillarbox Red, or AfterMidnight. Sticking to the traditional colors is not a bad thing because there is still a business in natural hair colors. People still like to color their hair so it looks like the color they used to have or a lighter or darker shade of the color they presently have. The largest group to purchase hair color products in the older generation is women. They might do this because they see grey coming in or are trying a new look out. The Most Shocking Event That Occurred During World War One If you were to consider the most shocking event that occurred during world war one and two, the first thing that might come to mind would probably be the Holocaust. And it certainly is a significant occurrence, rivaling even the war itself, but not a lot of people know that before this happened, during world war one, the Armenians faced a similar oppression from the Ottoman Empire. The Armenian Genocide was intently executed by the Ottoman Empire for accusation of alignment with the Soviet Union and was concealed under the guise of move due to war. Before delving further there are proceeding events that must be examined, such as what was taking place concurrently during WWI. Arthur Bright from The Christian Science Monitor stated that according to the Turks the reason the Armenians were targeted was not intentional, Ottoman Empire s relocation policy wasn t targeted at Armenians because of their ethnic identity rather, the Ottomans were targeting insurgent groups within the Armenian community. So much like the United states amidst WW2 when any Japanese persons were taking to camps during times of war. However, in this case as one begins to see what happened before and during, it becomes clear that it was a lot more than just a simple relocation. The Armenian population were taken out of their homes and on convoys on which they were transported to concentration camps. • 11. Symptoms, Diagnosis, And Treatment Sacrococcygeal tumors (SCT) are relatively rare, affecting approximately 1:35,000 live births[1]. However, it is the most common tumor presenting in newborn humans[2]. They occur more commonly in girls (70 80%) and they usually present in one of two clinical patterns: neonates with large predominately benign tumors (mature and immature teratomas); or, infants and children between birth and 4 years of age with primarily pelvic, malignant (yolk sac) tumors Before routine antenatal ultrasound examinations became widely accepted, the most common presentation was as a large sacral mass that is immediately obvious at birth[3]. However, with the advent of routine antenatal ultrasound, the most common presentation is now antenatal diagnosis by ultrasonography[4]. Benign SCT are usually asymptomatic in utero and diagnosed antenatally. Symptoms, if present, are caused by the pressure of the tumor on the nearby organs and include bowel dysfunction (constipation up to colon obstruction), venous and lymphatic obstruction of the legs resulting in lower limb edema. The presence of symptoms usually suggests a malignant lesion. Urinary symptoms are very rare even in malignant tumors[5]. We searched the literature for reported cases of urine retention caused by SCT and found only few sporadic cases reported. A camp at the university or college, a campus event, or your usual campus visit are all great ways to experience the place you re considering calling home for your college years. My mom had some great advice in this process for me which was what helped keep my somewhat levelheaded during the college decision process. Don t wait until senior year to do your visits This is a sure way to be incredibly stressed out. Amongst all the efforts to survive the year, don t put yourself in the situation of making a four hour trip one way to visit a campus. It s a huge mistake. My mom got onto me about this. She was excited for me to be preparing for this next adventure in my life, but she and I had to coordinate schedules to make four or five hour drives over the course of a day or a weekend. With two of my visits, we drove down on Saturday, spent the night, did some seeing around town (mostly involving food) on Sunday, and visited the campus on Monday in the morning so we could drive back home on Monday. Make the most of your trip to the campus, especially if it s farther away from home. Find a couple places to check out or make your study home while you re in school. 2. Nowhere in the First Amendment does it state that in times of war, the government can change the laws that have been made to protect the people of the United States. The master class has always declared the wars; the subject class has always fought the battles... I would rather a thousand times be a free soul in jail than to be a sycophant and coward in the streets . Debs did just that, this speech cost him ten years in prison. Many would say that he was only speaking his mind, and he should be able to do that, but the government had most power, and they got the final say. Charles Schenck had a similar case. While passing out pamphlets giving men reasons to not join the army, he was arrested and charged with violating the Espionage Act. Again, he was only trying to inform people of the disturbing side of the war. After the Espionage Act, came the Sedition Act in 1918. The Sedition Act did not allow language tending to incite, provoke, and encourage resistance to the United States in said war . This Act infringed further on people s First Amendment rights. • 15. Marriage and Individuality God created marriage as a union between man and woman. A woman, while still having a mind of her own and control over her own life, is under the authority of her husband. This frightens some women, who fear oppression at the hands of their husbands. While it is true that some men abuse the system that God set up for man and woman, not all men act as such. The Bible states monogamy is what God laid down as a foundational law of marriage, [...the Creator made them male and female...] For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh ? So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate. (Mathew 19.5 6). Although many women ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She has not changed a bit, and although she has children, she and her husband continue to go gallivanting about the world in search of adventure (Sayers, 14 15). Though Phoebe and her husband are not very successful parents, Phoebe s marriage is one of the success stories that begin to change Harriet s mindset about the concept of marriage from it being repulsive to it being something desirable. Marriage is works through compromise between the husband and wife; a woman who does not wish to be a housewife, but prefers to work can discuss her feelings with her husband in order to generate a resolution that leaves both the adults and the children happy with the result. Marriage is a union of two people, melding their old lives with their new one. Mark and Jane insist on maintaining entirely separate lives, which keeps their marriage from working (That Hideous Strength, 12). • 16. The Pedestrian Essay Utopia and dystopia: Ray Bradbury s short story The Pedestrian Ray Bradbury s short story The Pedestrian is a dramatic illustration of the dangers of living in a world where contact with nature is deemed so abnormal that even walking alone at night is a crime. The dystopian story revolves around the tale of a man named Leonard Mead, living during a time period not so far away from our own, in 2053 CE. In the story, a robotic police car is so suspicious of Mead s walking behavior during one pleasant night that he is taken away to a psychiatric hospital. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In many communities, walking behavior does appear to be unusual, because it looks so uncommon, despite the natural physiological aspect of walking. Riding in a car is seen as more normal, just like a robotic policeman is seen as more normal in the Bradbury story. Today, people do still walk, but often on a moving conveyor belt at the gym, rather in a real environment. This takes people away from nature and a sense of being part of something larger than themselves. Although Bradbury does not specifically discuss the physical risks of inactivity, the nation s climbing obesity rate is clear evidence of the fact that Americans are moving less and instead turning to sedentary pastimes to unwind. From Bradbury s perspective in time, the dangers of television were the greatest risk posed to enjoying hands on, real world activities. Today, there are even more varied sedentary distractions, spanning from the Internet, to mobile phones, to video games. In the modern world, we are increasingly categorized by our technological devices. Our cellphones, cars, and computers define our identities, rather than our bodies. We are losing the ability to amuse ourselves in the outside world. But it is our connection to nature, stripped of technology, which is essential to our individuality, not the programs we watch on television or the appearance of our cellphones. C. difficile is an opportunistic pathogen that has progressively become antibiotic resistant in several strains. The bacterium strives in hosts currently taking antibiotics where there is no competition between commensal microbiota. Common known symptoms of C. difficile infections (CDIs) include diarrhea, fever, and toxic megacolon. Primary virulent factors of the bacterium currently being researched are the endotoxins, C. difficile toxin A (TcdA) and B (TcdB). Both toxins bind to receptors of gut epithelial cells and are endocytosed leading to the inactivation of Rho type GTPases. With the activity of these enzymes nullified, the cytoskeleton of cells are unstable and eventually die (Hernandez, et al., 2015). Examples Of Westernization Of Asia Dannielle Vogel Professor Scott James History 101 Microtheme #2 The Westernization of Asia The mid to late 1800s was a time of intensive change for many on the Asian continent. It was a time for innovation and modernization in which some embraced, while others fought to halt progress and maintain tradition. Japan was the most positively affected by westernization as a country, and they utilized it in ways to benefit their country and still maintain their independence and identity. China and Korea were bystanders to the change, they did not welcome westernization or foreign influences, and according to Fukuzawa Yukichi, they did ...not know how to progress either personally or as a nation, (Yukichi, 1885). In his article Good bye Asia, Yukichi speaks of Japan s embrace of westernization as a commodity, he is an enthusiastic advocate for the convenience awarded by modern transportation and the necessary changes to Japan s government system. Japan was among the first Asian civilizations to embrace innovation with open arms.
