Summary Of The Idea Of Order At Key West
Art has the power to enhance consciousness as well as alter the way in which one perceives the world
around them. The process of which one experiences life from the means of their imagination
intensifies their perspicacity of the external reality. This alteration becomes seamlessly natural, and
goes unnoticed as emotions override the mind, and generates creativity. However, the dynamics of
nature are questionable in relation to how it holds inspiration to one s creative expression.
Artistic expression is essential in Wallace Steven s, The Idea of Order at Key West because it
illustrates the relationship between mind and nature. She sang beyond the genius of the sea suggest

It was her voice that made/The sky acutest at its vanishing (34 35). The woman s voice is what
captures the beauty of the sky during the sunset. Her artistic style compliments the environment in
with the speaker and Ramon seem to observe. Besides the theatrical distances and mountainous
atmospheres , no emotion or meaning is taken from the dramatic setting, only the woman s voice. She
was the single artificer of the world/In which she sang. And when she sang the sea,/Whatever self it
had, became the self./That was her song, for she was the maker, (37 40). The power of art is truly
displayed by not only changing the speaker s perception but also creating a world for which he
envisions through his imagination.
The concept of order can be taken into consideration solely to reflect that the singer is the one altering
the speaker s perception of the nature. As sound was a vital implication, silence As the night
descended and light mastered the night reveals the strong effect the song had on the speaker, as it still
carried on even after the artificer stopped singing. The natural world remains the same, but the
perceptibility changed and created more intensity.
The relationship between imagination and realism holds truth that beyond one s experiences and
sensibility has a role on how they will grasp meaning to their own world. For it is the impact of
externalizing the notions of the aesthetic and order that one can possess an understanding of

Genetic Enhancement
Designer Babies Picture a young couple in a waiting room looking through a catalogue together. This
catalogue is a little different from what you might expect. In this catalogue, specific traits for babies
are being sold to couples to help them create the perfect baby. This may seem like a bizarre scenario,
but it may not be too far off in the future. Designing babies using genetic enhancement is an issue that
is gaining more and more attention in the news. This controversial issue, once thought to be only
possible in the realm of science fiction, is causing people to discuss the moral issues surrounding
genetic enhancement and germ line engineering. Though genetic research can prove beneficial to
learning how to prevent hereditary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(CRG) Proponents also believe that genetic engineering would prevent the necessity for repeated gene
modifications for somatic cells as well. Another reason some scientists support this procedure is to
give couples a way to prevent passing on genes to their future offspring that may predispose them to
inherit a condition they want to avoid (CRG). Also, with germ line modification, couples would be
able to enhance certain characteristics of their future children. Koshland says that germline alteration
could meet future ‘needs to design individuals better at computers, better as musicians, better
physically (CRG). James Watson has told researchers to try to prevent ugly babies and stupid people
and to reduce the odds that anyone will be shy or a ‘cold fish (McKibben 22). The basic selling point
of germ line modification that supporters like Watson seem to be focusing on for the long term is the
possibility of the ‘enhancement of desired traits. In other words, the possibility of designer children
(CRG).
So called ‘successful attempts at germ line modification will bring the production of human beings
into the world of designer items. The human creations will be subject to the fashion of the times just
like any other designer item (CRG). Those in favor of germ line manipulation make the assumption
that once a gene in a certain condition is found, it is only appropriate and would be reasonably easy

The Community Organizing Self Reflection Essay
Community Organizing Self Reflection
Experiences
My interest in community organizing and building began with the passion and knowledge for the well
being of others my father instilled in my life. My father was the late Chief Elmer Manatowa Jr of the
Sac and Fox Nation, Native Tribe of Oklahoma. I have been an active Governing Council member (all
adult members) of my Tribe for many years. I landed my first real job, Planning Department secretary,
after taking a business course at the local technical .school. In that position, I had the opportunity to
attend a Tribal Sovereignty Symposium organized by the Federal, State, and Tribal organizations. This
was my first taste of community organizing and community building. It was the fourth symposium of
its kind. The topics included Indian law, environmental issues, law enforcement, juvenile justice, arts,
taxation, spirituality, preservation, state compacts, and Tribal immunity. There were two Senate Bills,
299 and 667. Bill 299 allowed certain protections for protecting land royalties and mineral rights. The
protections included oil and mineral operator s exclusion from drilling on individually owned Indian
Country lands. Bill 667 referred to the health and human service regarding Indians.
When my father died, I stepped up my participation in order to fill in the gap left without his presence.
I have been advocating for social change the Tribal government level by actively listening to the
general consensus of

The Issue of Accounting Entity Definition in Regards to...
The UK public sector has been transformed over the past few decades. In an increasingly global
economy, the main lever by which central governments can influence the success of the domestic
economy is by ensuring its public sector operates efficiently. The central governments of the
developed economies have adopted similar change agendas to transform their public sectors. These
change agendas entail the introduction of new structures, new kinds of organizations and a reinvention
of many parts of the public sector. The intention of successive governments has been the creation of a
New Public Sector , which is more strategic and corporate in its thinking. This New Public Sector is
intended to replace a public sector characterized by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite of that definition, the creation of an accounting entity is also a political process with
potentially huge implications. Kurunmäki states that the boundaries which describe an organization as
an economic unit separate from other units are not as clear cut, natural or fixed as the accounting
entity assumption implies . To which extent does NOMS now fulfill the above described
requirements? What are the issues involved in the representation of NOMS as an accounting entity?
By defining NOMS as an accounting entity, the financial controls involved seek to limit accountability
to the very institution which is fair to say and in line with the so called market based New Public
Sector reforms (Arnold, 1991). As a consequence, NOMS has to face the challenge to act within a
managerial, instead of an administrative culture. When looking for example at healthcare reforms
throughout Western Europe during the late 1970s and 1980, we find out that before introducing those
reforms and seeing hospitals as accounting entities, several problems occurred: Poor management
followed by arm s length management, with organizational actions guided by practices rooted in a
rationality that privileged professional or clan over bureaucratic or managerial forms of control
(Kurunmäki, 1999). These associated problems could be

A Good Man Is Hard To Find Character Analysis Essay
You wouldn t shoot a lady, would you? the grandmother said and removed a clean handkerchief from
her cuff and began to slap her eyes with it (O Connor 88). The Misfit pointed the tip of his shoe into
the ground and made a little hole and then covered it up again. I would hate to have to, he said
(paragraph 89). The Grandmother is one of the major characters in A Good Man is Hard to Find a
short story written by Flannery O Conner in 1955. Throughout the story the grandmother shows
evidence of personality disorders, emotionlessness, and controlling character traits. It s the
grandmother s lack of self awareness about these characteristics that leads to the death of the family.

hypocritical nature. She constantly nags, lies and uses offensive racist terms such as nigger and
pickaninny. The grandmother shows signs of the Narcissistic Personality Disorder. According to the
American Journal of Psychiatry, the essential feature of narcissistic personality disorder is a pervasive
pattern of grandiosity, need for admiration, and lack of empathy, beginning by early adulthood and
present in a variety of contexts. (Caligor) The grandmother has a grandiose sense of self importance,
in her eyes she is the pure example of a true lady and how one should act. She is preoccupied with
fantasies of power, brilliance, beauty and ideal love. She believes that she is special and requires
special admiration. Her sense of entitlement gives her unreasonable expectations of favorable
treatment, especially towards the end when she believes The Misfit would not kill her. She lacks
empathy, unwilling to recognize or identify with the feelings and needs of others. All of these traits

Explication Of Frank Sinatra s Gum
Explication of Frank Sinatra s Gum
Frank Sinatra s Gum is written by Kelly Simon and covers the important issue of conformity vs the
individual. This story features a girl in junior high who gets to interview Frank Sinatra and decides to
go against the grain. Simon says, Secretly I did not adore him like the other girls in junior high did (1).
This first person account gives the reader great insight on how one individual can stand up against
what the rest of society appreciates.
First off, the speaker starts off by saying, It was 1945 and Frankie, the Voice, was singing at the
Paramount (1). This quote shows that the speaker does appreciate Frank Sinatra and his fame because
she refers to him as the Voice . Following that quote the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

make himself seem more powerful then he actually was. Simon emphasizes this more with her
following sentence. She says, He peeled the paper from a stick of Juicy Fruit very slowly it seemed...
(12). Using this analytical observation the author is pointing out that Simon is watching Sinatra s
every move for a mistake. The following sentence backs up the speaker s idea that Frank Sinatra is not
above everyone else because she states how Frank Sinatra Missed (13). Even with this missed shot the
narrator states how, I was mesmerized. Like one of those squealing, moronic sheep that my father so
despised (15). Simon is referring to how she still seems to be conforming to what her father and her
least like, those star struck fans that worship Sinatra. Then, Simon is brought back to reality when
Frank Sinatra says, You got three questions (16). Simon gets this reaction from Sinatra when she asks
her first question, Caught in mid chew, his mouth remained open for a moment (19). She receives this
odd reaction from Sinatra because her question is not an average question but yet a deep question that
is more personal and not asked by young people. This question and those following show that Simon
is not like all the other girls her age but one that goes against what s socially

Bryan Caplan And The Austrian School
According to economist Bryan Caplan, by the late twentieth century, a split had developed among
those who self identify with the Austrian School. One group, building on the work of Hayek, follows
the broad framework of mainstream neoclassical economics, including its use of mathematical models
and general equilibrium, and brings a critical perspective to mainstream methodology merely
influenced by the Austrian notions such as the economic calculation problem and the independent role
of logical reasoning in developing economic theory.[33]
Murray Rothbard
A second group, following Mises and Rothbard, rejects the neoclassical theories of consumer and
welfare economics, dismisses empirical methods and mathematical and statistical models as
inapplicable to economic science, and asserts that economic theory went entirely astray in the
twentieth century; they offer the Misesian view as a radical alternative paradigm to mainstream theory.

Hoppe acknowledged that Hayek was the most prominent Austrian economist within academia, but
stated that Hayek was an opponent of the Austrian tradition which led from Carl Menger and Böhm

can be distinguished from other schools of economic thought through two categories economic theory
and political theory. According to Block, while Hayek can be considered an Austrian economist , his
views on political theory clash with the libertarian political theory which Block sees as an integral part

Strengths In Mark Bowden s Black Hawk Down
Violence, death, profanity. Usually a book containing these subjects, along with many other disturbing
aspects, would not be recommended for teenagers to read. However, looking past all of those details,
Black Hawk Down actually has valuable lessons within it. The author, Mark Bowden, writes about the
Battle Of Mogadishu that occurred from December 1992 to October 1993, and includes useful
information within his novel. He focuses on the truth about war, weaknesses and strengths within it,
and also lessons that can be learned from these subjects. The subject of war is often romanticized.

There are quite a few positive characteristics within the troops as well that make up for the mistakes
they may have made. One main one is that they always have each others backs. The Deltas look after
the Rangers, and act as their role models. It was as if the Rangers saw the D Boys as their big brothers,
and since their big brothers were around, everything would be okay (Bowden 234). This shows the
bond between the troops, and adds emotion to the novel. Another characteristic is that the older
soldiers try to be positive throughout the war, even if situations got tough. Smith was now asking the
medic to tell his parents and family good bye . . . Hold on tight, Schmid told the dying corporal. We re
working on getting you out of here (Bowden 238). There are also some points within the novel that
show soldiers making jokes about their situation, instead of letting it bring them down and get the best
of them. The final trait is that even throughout all of the horrors the two teams went through during
the war, they still did their best and pushed through until it was finally over. There s no doubt that the
perception people have of this episode is that it was a total fiasco. Bowden says. But this was a
successfully completed mission. And in the eyes of the military men involved, it s a mission they re
very proud of (EDIT). So even though these teams saw, heard, and participated in horrifying events, in

Stereotypes In Forrest Gump
White privilege and stereotypes are two ways race can influence a person s everyday life. White
privilege can be defined simply as white people getting special privileges and rights because they are
white. This can be seen when a white person gets a job opposed to a person of color or when white
people are able to live in nicer neighborhoods while people of color live in crime ridden ones because
white people have more wealth. White privilege has become so normal that most people fail to see it
in action. Furthermore, stereotypes can have many harmful effects as well. Stereotypes can be defined
as distorted views or inaccurate beliefs about a group of people. Not all stereotypes are bad, but many
of them are. An example could be saying that all African Americans are good at sports. However, this
is not always the case. Stereotypes may sometimes seem harmless, but these beliefs can impact a
person s life. White privilege and stereotypes are two different concepts, but they both have similar
effects that tend to hurt people of color more than they hurt white people. Both of these ideas appear in
the 1994 film Forrest Gump, which was directed by Robert Zemeckis. The film depicts white privilege
by showing only white people in positions of power, illustrates stereotypes about people of color by
having a stereotypical black family, and changes black history by having a white person make
achievements that people of color really made.
Forrest Gump is a movie that follows a man throughout the story of his life. It starts out with Forrest
Gump waiting at a bus stop when the bus arrives and a woman steps out and sits down next to him. He
begins to talk to her and he offers her some chocolate. The way he talks hints to the fact that he is not
the most intelligent person. He then starts to talk about her shoes which leads him to a flashback of his
childhood in Greenbow, Alabama in about 1945. From there he starts to talk about everything that has
happened in his life that has led him to where he is now. He talks about meeting Jenny on his first day
of school, his running getting him a football scholarship for college, enlisting in the army and meeting
Bubba, getting a medal of honor, and playing ping pong against China.

Forest Gump
Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you re gonna get. Forrest Gump is the portrayal
of a man that has been alienated from society, not because he is unintelligent or dimwitted, but rather
because he is not restricted by the conventional ideals which are embedded within his culture; thus,
challenging the conformities and principals that most people are accustomed to. The contrast that
Robert Zemeckis, director of the film, is attempting to convey through the character of Forrest Gump
is how most people are too smart for there own good; and thus, try to escape the realities and
actualities of life. While other characters in the story are suppressed by society s conflicts, Forrest
remains blinded to all; hence, he is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Society is more pleased living under the suppressions and misrepresentations of our culture, as
opposed to coping with the truth and what comes along with it. Forest Gump is a person that many
would label a contemporary holy fool which means that he possesses an extreme innocence that
enables him to do great things. His mental incapabilities have their obvious disadvantages, but what is
more worthy of discussion are the, not so obvious, advantages. His idealistic and optimistic view of
the world and his innocence blind him to the evil in people, and consequently; he is able to find the
best in each person he encounters. Robert Zemeckis directed the film in such a way to emphasize the
notion that simple is better which ties with his main theme of destiny. Zemeckis also implies, through
large contradictions in Gump s personality, that Gump s character is an impossibility in real life.
Gump is able to surmount all of society s restrictions. Even when he was a little boy people were
trying to straighten him out with leg braces, but sure enough, he broke out of those. This pivotal
moment in the movie marks the beginning of an absolutely great and optimistic lifestyle. However,
Gump is not completely void of restrictions. He respects authority because of his mother, whom he
adored and loved very much. A little later in his life, Gump joined the army

Essay about Conan Doyle’s Crime Stories
Why do you think Conan Doyle s crime stories have been so popular?
I m going to closely examine some of Conan Doyle s stories in order to show why they have proved to
be so popular. Conan Doyle has been branded the father of crime fiction because he was an
outstanding author among the first crime stories writers. First of all I would like to focus our attention
on the first story which were published in
The Strand magazine in the 1800s
At some point during this period Conan Doyle decided not to write for the magazines and this led to
an excessive plummeting of the sales off
the Strand . Some readers made a profit much to demonstrate the withdraw of Doyle s stories. This
suggests that the stories had become

This seems to work with Conan
Doyle because this kind of presentation is convincing the reader.
The main reason why Conan Doyle begins The Speckled Band with
Sherlock Holmes outstanding detective qualities is based on the fact that he wants to market him as
somebody worth reading about Sherlock
Holmes comes across us an intellect detective and is comparable to modern day crime busters, as
opposed to police force of his day who
Conan Doyle portrayed as incompetent and imaginative. So Sherlock
Holmes was like a bright shining star in the darkness that engrossed the crimes world of his day.
Many readers read Conan Doyle s stories with the ultimate aim of comparing wits with those of
Sherlock Holmes they wanted to know id they could use the same clues he used to solve the mystery
of the crimes, then as expect Sherlock Holmes would beat them at the game.
This competition sprit leads the readers to look out for the next story to see whether they would beat
or be defeated by Sherlock
Holmes.
Conan Doyle s focuses on all genders male and female. In the The
Speckled Band the client becomes Helen Stoner who is a helpless woman which has loss her mother
and use to live with her sister which is now dead, who lives with her step father, Dr Roylott. She is
one in many of Sherlock Holmes clients which tries to investigate her sister s death. As Sherlock

Vietnam War Paranoia
The horrors of The Vietnam War have stuck with American soldiers since they were first deployed in
Vietnam and every vietnam soldier remembers, the paranoia that ate away at them during their months
in Vietnam. Vietnam War literature written by American authors who were in the war demonstrates the
paranoia they felt during the war. These authors would express their feelings by writing while they
were in Vietnam and after they left. When soldiers write about the war after they left, it shows how
they still remember the paranoia they felt while in Vietnam. Vietnam was paranoia, because of the
continuous fear of the environment, traps, and ambushes, that soldiers felt and described in multiple
poems and stories such as If I Die in a Combat Zone and The Things They Carried. The American
soldiers in Vietnam felt paranoia because of the horrible traps such as land mines or bouncing bettys
that were hidden throughout Vietnam. Tim O Brien in his memoir If I die in a Combat Zone describes
the booby trapped mortar rounds well by saying, They hang from trees. They nestle in shrubbery. They
lie under the sand. They wait beneath the mud floors of huts. They haunted us (If I die in a Combat
Zone 123). In this quote O Brien describes how the booby trapped mortar rounds would haunt soldiers
and how the soldiers never knew where they were. The soldiers were paranoid and haunted by the
mortar rounds because they could be anywhere and they were everywhere in Vietnam. O Brien also

The Causes Of Youth Sports
Nine out of Ten kids say the reason they play youth sports to have fun. On another note 80% of
children drop out of youth sports by the age of 12 (Reed). Some of the most common reasons children
drop out of youth sports can range from something as simple as not having fun anymore to something
as complex to feeling as if the parent/coach is being unfair to them, like constantly getting judged after
every game. Parents can avoid this all by supporting, not over bearing, Nays, and making sure the
child is having fun and happy. The overall outcome of youth sports should be for the child to find
something they enjoy and to have fun doing it. Most kids when they are young try various sports and
activities to see what they enjoy and parents comments or overbearing should not be the reason why
the child decides to not give the sport a shot or finish out the season. Which is why parents
involvement in youth sports is vital to a child s development and behavior. One reason why parents
are a vital part about Youth Sports is for there support.
Most youth athletic programs depend on parent volunteers to keep the program running. Parents
provide an essential support system for athletes, their involvement may be as simple as transportation
to games and practices to games, and supporting the child on the sidelines (Mackenzie). Parents also

I grew up in New Ulm, Minnesota a small town with a deep passion and obsession for their German
heritage with a population of around 13,000. Although with this town, it has a lack of diversity. The
percentage of Caucasians is around 95%, which leaves the remaining 5% to non Caucasians; I am
Chinese and part of that 5% of non Caucasians. Being different here is a challenge, we have the
friendly people that treat us decently, but then we have the people that would give us a look of disgust
or an intrusive stare. Similar to the looks that you got when people were judging you and your yellow
motorcycle. Growing up with that experience made me think that a large amount of the world was
unkind and rude, but after reading your book, I realized that there was kindness all around the world
and it was very active in some.
It was astonishing to see very kind people help you on your journey from gas and food to a night to
stay. Some were homeless, but they still gave you the greatness of kindness. Although it may have
been hard trying to get people willing to be kind enough to give you those needs. I d say it was
challenging, like the challenge I deal with everyday. The task of getting people to not be rude to my
family is a struggle. A simple smile to us is appreciated as much as you getting gas from someone. We

Womens Rights Movement Of The 1960 s
Introduction
Attention getter
Who would have known that one little pill could mean so much to women s independence? That little
pill was birth control something a lot of us today take for granted, something any woman can get from
a free clinic. The time where women were expected to be housewives changed, a revolution happened
that would grant women rights that they never had before.
Central Idea
The women s movement of the 1960 s sought significant improvement in legal economic and political
rights.
Credibility
I am from a country where women do not have as many freedoms as the women in America do. There
women are still expected to marry and become housewives they are often discouraged to further their
education. I can see how this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They were also prevented from moving higher in the workplace and even outright not allowed to work
in certain positions. In an article titled The Women s Rights Movement, by American Social Reform
Movements Reference Library website, published in 2007 stated Even highly educated women were
denied good jobs in business or government service because employers felt that women would not
perform adequately or simply did not belong in such professions.
B.There was no protection from sexual harassment for women, they were also were not able to
advance higher in the workplace.
signpost: Now that we know what life was like for women in the 1950s, let s start talking about how
the women got their rights today. II. The actions that women took to group together and fight in order
to get their voices heard.
1.Women with a common purpose began grouping together to make changes to the way they live, and
make their voices heard to fellow women.
A.In her article titled 1960s Feminist Activities, featured on ThoughtCo website, published Mar. 1,
2017, Linda Napikoski, stated Woman organizing groups Feminist consciousness raising groups, or
CR groups, began in the 1960s in New York and Chicago and quickly spread across the United States

Participants With Acute Stroke And Unilateral Hemiparesis
2.1. Participants
Five participants with acute stroke and unilateral hemiparesis (Age 51 ± 17 years; Height 1.7 ± 0.1m;
Weight 81.6 ± 3.6kg; LOS 36 ± 24.6 days; 3 males, 2 females; 2 with right hemiplegia) were recruited
for RE gait training during inpatient rehabilitation in conjunction with traditional therapy. Participant
inclusion requirements: have a medical clearance, upright standing tolerance (≥30 min), intact skin,
physically fit into the device, have joint range of motion within normal functional limits for
ambulation, have had stroke with its onset 1 week and 0.05). This may suggest that the RE was limited
to rehabilitate muscles during the IDS and swing phases as seen in figures (6 8).
TA muscle, a crucial muscle for foot lift during gait, and major player in maintaining balance and
stability, demonstrated no significant differences during IDS, SS, and TDS on the affected side with
the RE as compared to without the RE (P= 0.52780, P= 0.73530, P= 0.07592 respectively), but
showed a significant difference during swing as stated above. In the TA muscle, there was no
significant differences between the affected and unaffected limbs with RE (P 0.05). While there was
no significant differences in EMG activation of the TA muscle without the RE during TDS and Swing,
conversely there was a significant difference in IDS, and SS when comparing the affected and
unaffected limbs (IDS: P=0.02631, SS: P=0.04539, TDS: P=0.06174, SW: P=0.09960). There was no

Origins And Background Of Greek Mythology And Superheroes
Origins and Background of Greek Mythology and Superheroes
Authors have to have inspiration, some base their work off of or some already existing idea that they
can put their own spin on. They change their heroes enough so that it s not noticeable, but parallels are
obvious. Mello, Carolina. The New Wonder Woman and Greek Mythology. Women Write About
Comics. N.p., 13 May 2014. Web. 28 Mar. 2017.
Many tales in Greek mythology concern the lives of heroes, who rank somewhere between men and
gods. They were stronger and braver than other men and achieved great deeds, but they lacked the
magic or supernatural powers of the gods and their deeds were accomplished by the use of human
characteristics courage, strength, and endurance.

as Heracles did.

Mar. 2017. Like Homer s Odysseus, Batman exudes mythological deity characteristics, including
strength, courage, and selflessness. Batman is today what Homer s Odysseus is to ancient Greece. He
embodies what mythological characters stand for during the times of ancient Greece. Batman and
Odysseus embark on their quests as selfless acts to accomplish a specific goal. Batman does what he
does in attempt to make his city a safer, better place to live, much like the men and women on the
frontlines of the battlefield, or a hero like Odysseus.

Sports Injury College Essay
Sports has always been a huge part of my life. I would be the one team player who took the sports
season a little bit too seriously. I was the number 1 doubles player on my school s JV tennis team.
Unfortunately, I fractured my ankle during my junior year and wasn t able to play with my team. I was
devastated, but I didn t allow myself to become disconnected from my team. I became the team
manager to allow myself to still play a role in my team, despite my injury. I would record scores to my
division leaders and take pictures to post on the website I created for my team. After the season was
over, my doctor told me my ankles required surgery to become fully healed. I knew that meant I
couldn t continue to play tennis, but I didn t want to give

Lady Macbeth Is Essentially the Villain in Macbeth
In William Shakespeare s Macbeth, Lady Macbeth is the true villain of the play as she is evil,
ambitious and eventually insane. Lady Macbeth masterminded the idea to kill King Duncan and
planted the vision into Macbeths mind, she convinced Macbeth to commit such a crime, and her love
for her husband was eventually overruled by her determination and lust for power. Throughout the
play she starts to show her true colours and the destructive force of her ambition, which inevitably
results in nothing but disaster. Lady Macbeth is essentially an evil woman. She condones the death of
innocent people and even wishes she were a man so she could commit murder herself. The idea to
murder King Duncan was thought of by no other than Lady Macbeth, ... Show more content on

The House of Representatives has defeated a provision to require U.S. broadband providers to offer

As their networks become increasingly clogged with high capacity services, phone and cable
companies want to be able to strike deals with content companies that will offer speedy delivery for
music and videos, for example. But smaller content companies worry they ll be priced out of the
market, and consumer groups fear it would give cable and phone companies too much power over

Because of all the rhetoric, Net neutrality has become such a hot button issue that some companies
have found themselves the target of advocates who are quick to jump on any kink in Internet service

Binge Eating in Bulimia Nervosa Essay
In our Western society, we have several different types of eating dysfunction, all of which are unique
and tragic in their own right. Despite their individuality, however, they all have several overlapping
symptoms that are key to their classification and severity. For Bulimia Nervosa (BN) and Binge
Eating Disorder (BED), one of the core features is binge eating, which can be defined objectively by
number of calories eaten in a given time or subjectively by the feelings of the binger. Binge eating has
many different aspects that are of interest to scientists and clinicians alike. One of those interests has
to do with the reduction of this symptom among populations being treated for their respective
disorder. Because both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therapies used.
Interpersonal therapy (IPT) is a derivative of therapy designed for depressed individuals, which
originated from the New Haven Boston Collaborative Depression Project (Fairburn et al 1993). It
borrows from the psychodynamic school of psychology, but concentrates on interpersonal functioning
and involves three steps: 1) the first is an intensive analysis of the interpersonal context which the
disorder develops and is maintained 2) the second involves addressing the interpersonal problems and
contracting with the patients to work on these problems 3) the third deconstructs feelings about
termination of therapy, reviews progress and outlines future work (Fairburn et al. 1993).
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is currently the most commonly used type of psychotherapy
(Peterson Mitchell 1999). It is based on the cognitive view of bulimia nervosa, which weighs attitudes
towards shape and weight as most significant for maintenance of the disorder. Therapy actually
includes a combination of behavioral and cognitive directives aimed at changing patterns of behavior,
attitudes of shape and weight, and cognitive distortions such as low self esteem (Fairburn et al. 1993).
Behavioral therapy (BT) is similar to CBT but concentrates on behavioral procedures used to
normalize eating habits. The major features are regaining control over eating, establishing a regular
pattern of eating, and cessation of

As I Lay Dying By William Faulkner Essay
As I Lay Dying Final Essay
In the novel As I Lay Dying by William Faulkner, relates to what seems to be the main concern and
topic throughout the story, which is the death of Addie Bundren. The long and strange journey to
Jefferson County, Mississippi to bury their mothers body seems to undertake the family together.
Faulkners technique throughout his story presents individual sections of the characters throughout
their thoughts, perspectives or the events taking place throughout the novel. You can see all the family
members and characters have different characteristics of their identity. This idea can be seen as
grotesque and the death of their mother inspires several questions about the character s existence and
identity and they all seem to encounter the death of their mother uniquely.
Each member of the family has a difficult time understanding death and react to it differently.
Throughout the Bundren s experience, we see that Varadman is obsessing over a fish he caught shortly
after his mother s death. Vardaman, who is the youngest does not yet seem to understand or grieve
with the concept of death. As he says, I can feel where the fish was in the dust. It is cut up into pieces
or not fish now, not blood on my hands and overalls. Then it wasn t so. It hadn t happened then. And
now she is getting so far ahead I can t catch her (Faulkner 32). This statement shows how Vardaman
sees Addie in his fish because like the fish, it represents his mother being

Operational Planning, Strategic Planning And Control
Operational Planning, Strategic Planning Control The function of planning is integral to the success of
any organization and is typically achieved through the development and communication of the
organization s mission statement, vision statement, and future goal setting. To set those goals a
manager must understand present realities and future contingencies for their organization, while
creating a vision of the organization s future (Boateng, Karikari, Akafo, 2015 p. 103). Per Satterlee
(2013), the mission statement is the crucial first step of establishing the future direction of the
organization. The vision statement explains the goals of how to achieve the mission. Policies,
procedures, and rules are written and implemented ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, it is imperative to formulate the strategy regarding exactly where the company is going
with their products and services. This portion of the process is truly organizational specific according
to their needs. Last, but not least, once all the planning has been completed, executives must oversee
its implementation to successfully live up to the mission statement. Key components of successful
implementation include clear, concise, and relevant communication, focus, and perseverance. One of
the ways to ensure effective implementation is ongoing evaluation.
Operational Planning After strategic planning, has taken place and filtered down through the
management team, operational planning takes place to execute the mission. Strategic planning
provides the vision for where the organization is heading; however, operational planning is where the
intricate details establishing mission completion is completed. Per Satterlee (2013) the operational
level, an integral part of the planning process consists of specific details to whom, what, when, and
how and includes functional areas within the organization, such as marketing, finance, and distribution
(p.69). During the operational planning phase, each section within the organization is provided with
their responsibilities for task completion. Managers conducting operational planning must factor in
issues such as budgetary concerns, policy and procedures, and team

The Des Sciences Of Paris
The object being considered here is the Académie des Sciences in Paris. This academy owes its
initiation to Colbert s plan, which was designed for the creation of a universal academy. It is even a
part of the family of varied sets of specialists who assembled around a supporter or a learned
individual in the 17th century. Colbert then selected a small segment of learned individuals who
gathered on December 22, 1666 in the King s library. The morning meetings were then conducted
twice a week there. The initial 30 years of the Academy were comparatively easy going with no laws
being stated by them till then. On the 20th of January 1699, this company was given its primary rules
by Louis XIV.

In the year 1816, the Académie des sciences came to be self sufficient, while making up a segment of

inspiration of François Arago, the Comptes rendus of the Académie des sciences was initiated, which
turned into an apparatus of utmost prominence for the dispersal of French and foreign technical
workings. At the commencement of the 20th Century, they experienced a reduction in doings and
inspiration, which had been initiated by demographic reasons. Considering the rapid expansions in
scientific investigation in France, so as to match up to this, the Académie decided to modify its
arrangements and its operations. In more recent times, it started on a comprehensive reorganisation of
its decrees, regarding its association and its ventures in the future.
The laws that have been stated at the Académie des sciences de l Institut de France congregates French
students and creates links with foreign learned individuals, wherein the previous and the new are

  • 2. Summary Of The Idea Of Order At Key West Art has the power to enhance consciousness as well as alter the way in which one perceives the world around them. The process of which one experiences life from the means of their imagination intensifies their perspicacity of the external reality. This alteration becomes seamlessly natural, and goes unnoticed as emotions override the mind, and generates creativity. However, the dynamics of nature are questionable in relation to how it holds inspiration to one s creative expression. Artistic expression is essential in Wallace Steven s, The Idea of Order at Key West because it illustrates the relationship between mind and nature. It was her voice that made/The sky acutest at its vanishing (34 35). The woman s voice is what captures the beauty of the sky during the sunset. Her artistic style compliments the environment in with the speaker and Ramon seem to observe. Besides the theatrical distances and mountainous atmospheres , no emotion or meaning is taken from the dramatic setting, only the woman s voice. She was the single artificer of the world/In which she sang. And when she sang the sea,/Whatever self it had, became the self./That was her song, for she was the maker, (37 40). The power of art is truly displayed by not only changing the speaker s perception but also creating a world for which he envisions through his imagination. The concept of order can be taken into consideration solely to reflect that the singer is the one altering the speaker s perception of the nature. As sound was a vital implication, silence As the night descended and light mastered the night reveals the strong effect the song had on the speaker, as it still carried on even after the artificer stopped singing. The natural world remains the same, but the perceptibility changed and created more intensity. The relationship between imagination and realism holds truth that beyond one s experiences and sensibility has a role on how they will grasp meaning to their own world. In this catalogue, specific traits for babies are being sold to couples to help them create the perfect baby. This may seem like a bizarre scenario, but it may not be too far off in the future. Designing babies using genetic enhancement is an issue that is gaining more and more attention in the news. This controversial issue, once thought to be only possible in the realm of science fiction, is causing people to discuss the moral issues surrounding genetic enhancement and germ line engineering. Though genetic research can prove beneficial to learning how to prevent hereditary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (CRG) Proponents also believe that genetic engineering would prevent the necessity for repeated gene modifications for somatic cells as well. Another reason some scientists support this procedure is to give couples a way to prevent passing on genes to their future offspring that may predispose them to inherit a condition they want to avoid (CRG). Also, with germ line modification, couples would be able to enhance certain characteristics of their future children. Koshland says that germline alteration could meet future ‘needs to design individuals better at computers, better as musicians, better physically (CRG). James Watson has told researchers to try to prevent ugly babies and stupid people and to reduce the odds that anyone will be shy or a ‘cold fish (McKibben 22). The basic selling point of germ line modification that supporters like Watson seem to be focusing on for the long term is the possibility of the ‘enhancement of desired traits. In other words, the possibility of designer children (CRG). So called ‘successful attempts at germ line modification will bring the production of human beings into the world of designer items. The human creations will be subject to the fashion of the times just like any other designer item (CRG). • 5. The Community Organizing Self Reflection Essay Community Organizing Self Reflection Experiences My interest in community organizing and building began with the passion and knowledge for the well being of others my father instilled in my life. My father was the late Chief Elmer Manatowa Jr of the Sac and Fox Nation, Native Tribe of Oklahoma. I have been an active Governing Council member (all adult members) of my Tribe for many years. I landed my first real job, Planning Department secretary, after taking a business course at the local technical .school. In that position, I had the opportunity to attend a Tribal Sovereignty Symposium organized by the Federal, State, and Tribal organizations. This was my first taste of community organizing and community building. It was the fourth symposium of its kind. The topics included Indian law, environmental issues, law enforcement, juvenile justice, arts, taxation, spirituality, preservation, state compacts, and Tribal immunity. There were two Senate Bills, 299 and 667. Bill 299 allowed certain protections for protecting land royalties and mineral rights. The protections included oil and mineral operator s exclusion from drilling on individually owned Indian Country lands. Bill 667 referred to the health and human service regarding Indians. When my father died, I stepped up my participation in order to fill in the gap left without his presence. In an increasingly global economy, the main lever by which central governments can influence the success of the domestic economy is by ensuring its public sector operates efficiently. The central governments of the developed economies have adopted similar change agendas to transform their public sectors. These change agendas entail the introduction of new structures, new kinds of organizations and a reinvention of many parts of the public sector. The intention of successive governments has been the creation of a New Public Sector , which is more strategic and corporate in its thinking. This New Public Sector is intended to replace a public sector characterized by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Despite of that definition, the creation of an accounting entity is also a political process with potentially huge implications. Kurunmäki states that the boundaries which describe an organization as an economic unit separate from other units are not as clear cut, natural or fixed as the accounting entity assumption implies . To which extent does NOMS now fulfill the above described requirements? What are the issues involved in the representation of NOMS as an accounting entity? By defining NOMS as an accounting entity, the financial controls involved seek to limit accountability to the very institution which is fair to say and in line with the so called market based New Public Sector reforms (Arnold, 1991). As a consequence, NOMS has to face the challenge to act within a managerial, instead of an administrative culture. When looking for example at healthcare reforms throughout Western Europe during the late 1970s and 1980, we find out that before introducing those reforms and seeing hospitals as accounting entities, several problems occurred: Poor management followed by arm s length management, with organizational actions guided by practices rooted in a rationality that privileged professional or clan over bureaucratic or managerial forms of control (Kurunmäki, 1999). The Grandmother is one of the major characters in A Good Man is Hard to Find a short story written by Flannery O Conner in 1955. This story features a girl in junior high who gets to interview Frank Sinatra and decides to go against the grain. Simon says, Secretly I did not adore him like the other girls in junior high did (1). This first person account gives the reader great insight on how one individual can stand up against what the rest of society appreciates. Next, the speaker voices the power that Sinatra held. Sinatra was able to control people and make himself seem more powerful then he actually was. Simon emphasizes this more with her following sentence. She says, He peeled the paper from a stick of Juicy Fruit very slowly it seemed... (12). Using this analytical observation the author is pointing out that Simon is watching Sinatra s every move for a mistake. The following sentence backs up the speaker s idea that Frank Sinatra is not above everyone else because she states how Frank Sinatra Missed (13). Even with this missed shot the narrator states how, I was mesmerized. Like one of those squealing, moronic sheep that my father so despised (15). Simon is referring to how she still seems to be conforming to what her father and her least like, those star struck fans that worship Sinatra. Then, Simon is brought back to reality when Frank Sinatra says, You got three questions (16). Simon gets this reaction from Sinatra when she asks her first question, Caught in mid chew, his mouth remained open for a moment (19). She receives this odd reaction from Sinatra because her question is not an average question but yet a deep question that is more personal and not asked by young people. One group, building on the work of Hayek, follows the broad framework of mainstream neoclassical economics, including its use of mathematical models and general equilibrium, and brings a critical perspective to mainstream methodology merely influenced by the Austrian notions such as the economic calculation problem and the independent role of logical reasoning in developing economic theory.[33] Murray Rothbard A second group, following Mises and Rothbard, rejects the neoclassical theories of consumer and welfare economics, dismisses empirical methods and mathematical and statistical models as inapplicable to economic science, and asserts that economic theory went entirely astray in the twentieth century; they offer the Misesian view as a radical alternative paradigm to mainstream theory. The author, Mark Bowden, writes about the Battle Of Mogadishu that occurred from December 1992 to October 1993, and includes useful information within his novel. He focuses on the truth about war, weaknesses and strengths within it, and also lessons that can be learned from these subjects. The subject of war is often romanticized. There are quite a few positive characteristics within the troops as well that make up for the mistakes they may have made. One main one is that they always have each others backs. The Deltas look after the Rangers, and act as their role models. It was as if the Rangers saw the D Boys as their big brothers, and since their big brothers were around, everything would be okay (Bowden 234). This shows the bond between the troops, and adds emotion to the novel. Another characteristic is that the older soldiers try to be positive throughout the war, even if situations got tough. Smith was now asking the medic to tell his parents and family good bye . . . Hold on tight, Schmid told the dying corporal. We re working on getting you out of here (Bowden 238). There are also some points within the novel that show soldiers making jokes about their situation, instead of letting it bring them down and get the best of them. The final trait is that even throughout all of the horrors the two teams went through during the war, they still did their best and pushed through until it was finally over. There s no doubt that the perception people have of this episode is that it was a total fiasco. Bowden says. But this was a successfully completed mission. • 11. Stereotypes In Forrest Gump White privilege and stereotypes are two ways race can influence a person s everyday life. White privilege can be defined simply as white people getting special privileges and rights because they are white. This can be seen when a white person gets a job opposed to a person of color or when white people are able to live in nicer neighborhoods while people of color live in crime ridden ones because white people have more wealth. White privilege has become so normal that most people fail to see it in action. Furthermore, stereotypes can have many harmful effects as well. Stereotypes can be defined as distorted views or inaccurate beliefs about a group of people. Not all stereotypes are bad, but many of them are. An example could be saying that all African Americans are good at sports. However, this is not always the case. Stereotypes may sometimes seem harmless, but these beliefs can impact a person s life. White privilege and stereotypes are two different concepts, but they both have similar effects that tend to hurt people of color more than they hurt white people. Both of these ideas appear in the 1994 film Forrest Gump, which was directed by Robert Zemeckis. The film depicts white privilege by showing only white people in positions of power, illustrates stereotypes about people of color by having a stereotypical black family, and changes black history by having a white person make achievements that people of color really made. Forrest Gump is a movie that follows a man throughout the story of his life. It starts out with Forrest Gump waiting at a bus stop when the bus arrives and a woman steps out and sits down next to him. He begins to talk to her and he offers her some chocolate. The way he talks hints to the fact that he is not the most intelligent person. He then starts to talk about her shoes which leads him to a flashback of his childhood in Greenbow, Alabama in about 1945. From there he starts to talk about everything that has happened in his life that has led him to where he is now. He talks about meeting Jenny on his first day of school, his running getting him a football scholarship for college, enlisting in the army and meeting Bubba, getting a medal of honor, and playing ping pong against China. ... Forrest Gump is the portrayal of a man that has been alienated from society, not because he is unintelligent or dimwitted, but rather because he is not restricted by the conventional ideals which are embedded within his culture; thus, challenging the conformities and principals that most people are accustomed to. The contrast that Robert Zemeckis, director of the film, is attempting to convey through the character of Forrest Gump is how most people are too smart for there own good; and thus, try to escape the realities and actualities of life. While other characters in the story are suppressed by society s conflicts, Forrest remains blinded to all; hence, he is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Society is more pleased living under the suppressions and misrepresentations of our culture, as opposed to coping with the truth and what comes along with it. Forest Gump is a person that many would label a contemporary holy fool which means that he possesses an extreme innocence that enables him to do great things. His mental incapabilities have their obvious disadvantages, but what is more worthy of discussion are the, not so obvious, advantages. His idealistic and optimistic view of the world and his innocence blind him to the evil in people, and consequently; he is able to find the best in each person he encounters. Robert Zemeckis directed the film in such a way to emphasize the notion that simple is better which ties with his main theme of destiny. Zemeckis also implies, through large contradictions in Gump s personality, that Gump s character is an impossibility in real life. Gump is able to surmount all of society s restrictions. Even when he was a little boy people were trying to straighten him out with leg braces, but sure enough, he broke out of those. This pivotal moment in the movie marks the beginning of an absolutely great and optimistic lifestyle. However, Gump is not completely void of restrictions. Vietnam War Paranoia The horrors of The Vietnam War have stuck with American soldiers since they were first deployed in Vietnam and every vietnam soldier remembers, the paranoia that ate away at them during their months in Vietnam. Vietnam War literature written by American authors who were in the war demonstrates the paranoia they felt during the war. These authors would express their feelings by writing while they were in Vietnam and after they left. When soldiers write about the war after they left, it shows how they still remember the paranoia they felt while in Vietnam. Vietnam was paranoia, because of the continuous fear of the environment, traps, and ambushes, that soldiers felt and described in multiple poems and stories such as If I Die in a Combat Zone and The Things They Carried. The American soldiers in Vietnam felt paranoia because of the horrible traps such as land mines or bouncing bettys that were hidden throughout Vietnam. • 20. Kindness Reflection Your book has significantly changed my view of the kindness in our society. Kindness is like love, it blooms in some and lingers in others. I grew up in New Ulm, Minnesota a small town with a deep passion and obsession for their German heritage with a population of around 13,000. Although with this town, it has a lack of diversity. The percentage of Caucasians is around 95%, which leaves the remaining 5% to non Caucasians; I am Chinese and part of that 5% of non Caucasians. Being different here is a challenge, we have the friendly people that treat us decently, but then we have the people that would give us a look of disgust or an intrusive stare. Similar to the looks that you got when people were judging you and your yellow motorcycle. Growing up with that experience made me think that a large amount of the world was unkind and rude, but after reading your book, I realized that there was kindness all around the world and it was very active in some. It was astonishing to see very kind people help you on your journey from gas and food to a night to stay. Some were homeless, but they still gave you the greatness of kindness. Although it may have been hard trying to get people willing to be kind enough to give you those needs. I d say it was challenging, like the challenge I deal with everyday. The task of getting people to not be rude to my family is a struggle. A simple smile to us is appreciated as much as you getting gas from someone. We try to be cordial and friendly to ... This may suggest that the RE was limited to rehabilitate muscles during the IDS and swing phases as seen in figures (6 8). TA muscle, a crucial muscle for foot lift during gait, and major player in maintaining balance and stability, demonstrated no significant differences during IDS, SS, and TDS on the affected side with the RE as compared to without the RE (P= 0.52780, P= 0.73530, P= 0.07592 respectively), but showed a significant difference during swing as stated above. In the TA muscle, there was no significant differences between the affected and unaffected limbs with RE (P 0.05). While there was no significant differences in EMG activation of the TA muscle without the RE during TDS and Swing, conversely there was a significant difference in IDS, and SS when comparing the affected and unaffected limbs (IDS: P=0.02631, SS: P=0.04539, TDS: P=0.06174, SW: P=0.09960). Therapies used. Interpersonal therapy (IPT) is a derivative of therapy designed for depressed individuals, which originated from the New Haven Boston Collaborative Depression Project (Fairburn et al 1993). It borrows from the psychodynamic school of psychology, but concentrates on interpersonal functioning and involves three steps: 1) the first is an intensive analysis of the interpersonal context which the disorder develops and is maintained 2) the second involves addressing the interpersonal problems and contracting with the patients to work on these problems 3) the third deconstructs feelings about termination of therapy, reviews progress and outlines future work (Fairburn et al. 1993). Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is currently the most commonly used type of psychotherapy (Peterson Mitchell 1999). It is based on the cognitive view of bulimia nervosa, which weighs attitudes towards shape and weight as most significant for maintenance of the disorder. Therapy actually includes a combination of behavioral and cognitive directives aimed at changing patterns of behavior, attitudes of shape and weight, and cognitive distortions such as low self esteem (Fairburn et al. 1993). • 31. As I Lay Dying By William Faulkner Essay As I Lay Dying Final Essay In the novel As I Lay Dying by William Faulkner, relates to what seems to be the main concern and topic throughout the story, which is the death of Addie Bundren. The long and strange journey to Jefferson County, Mississippi to bury their mothers body seems to undertake the family together. Faulkners technique throughout his story presents individual sections of the characters throughout their thoughts, perspectives or the events taking place throughout the novel. You can see all the family members and characters have different characteristics of their identity. This idea can be seen as grotesque and the death of their mother inspires several questions about the character s existence and identity and they all seem to encounter the death of their mother uniquely. Each member of the family has a difficult time understanding death and react to it differently. Throughout the Bundren s experience, we see that Varadman is obsessing over a fish he caught shortly after his mother s death. Vardaman, who is the youngest does not yet seem to understand or grieve with the concept of death. As he says, I can feel where the fish was in the dust. It is cut up into pieces or not fish now, not blood on my hands and overalls. Then it wasn t so. It hadn t happened then. And now she is getting so far ahead I can t catch her (Faulkner 32).
