Unethical Decisions In Macbeth
Ethics is the way an individual person carries out an activity based on their morals and personal
beliefs. Each person has their own set of beliefs as to what differentiates an ethical decision to an
unethical decision and why they think that way. Over many years society has adopted acts as being
ethical or normal and other acts as unethical or bad. In the novel, The Count of Monte Cristo by
Alexander Dumas, many characters make unethical decisions over the years. Just like The Count of
Monte Cristo, in the novel, Macbeth by William Shakespeare, the main character makes numerous
unethical decisions himself. Every decision that a person makes will always have an outcome that
follows, whether it is good or bad. Sometimes the outcomes of those unethical decisions will not only
affect that person, but also others around them as well who become innocent victims.
Lady Macbeth influences Macbeth to kill Duncan. The decision made by Lady Macbeth was
unethical. It is unethical because Lady Macbeth influenced her husband to commit murder which is
not the right thing to do (Hopper). Originally Macbeth did not want to commit the murder: We will
proceed no further in this business. He hath honored me of late, and I have bought golden opinions
from all sorts of people (Macbeth Ⅰ. ⅶ. 32 34). Macbeth liked Duncan and did not want to go through
with Lady Macbeth s scheme. Lady Macbeth wanted the murder done so badly that she started to
brainwash her husband into thinking he was not

Turner Syndrome Research Paper
I chose to research Turner Syndrome because it sounded very interesting. Turner syndrome is a
condition that affects females only. Turner syndrome is the result of a missing, whole or partial, X
chromosome. Turner syndrome can be diagnosed before birth but will occasionally not be diagnosed
until the teen years. Diagnosis will depend upon symptom severity. Turner syndrome has symptoms
for both those born before and after birth. Diagnosis is dependent upon finding symptoms when it
comes to prenatal diagnosis. Abnormal fluid collection, abnormalities of the heart, and kidney
abnormalities are all signs that doctors will look to when attempting to diagnosis the syndrome. Turner
syndrome is a very physical syndrome. The signs and symptoms are physical and easily spotted in
many if not most. Symptoms for many include poor overall growth and will be apparent at birth and
infancy. Wide or web like neck, a small lower jaw, high and narrow roof of the mouth, low set ears,
low hairline and the nape of the neck, short fingers and toes, outward turned arms, swelling of
extremities, short height, and delayed growth are all large and prominent signs of Turner syndrome at
an early age. There are some cases of delayed diagnosis of Turner syndrome. Symptoms for those that

mosaicism, and Y chromosome material. Monosomy is the complete absence of an X chromosome.
Monosomy is due to an error in the mother s egg or the father s sperm. Mosaicism is a cell division
error that occurs during fetal developments early stages. Some of the cells will have two copies of the
X chromosome while others will only have one. Y chromosome material is rare in comparison to the
two other abnormalities. In Y chromosome material there is one copy of the X chromosome and other
cells will contain a X chromosome and some Y

Malcolm X Thesis
No man in our time aroused fear and hatred in the white man as did Malcolm, because in him the
white man sense an implacable foe who could not be had for any price a man unreservedly committed
to the cause of liberating the black man in American society rather than integrating the black man into
that society. (Haley XXV)
Without a doubt Malcolm X was one of the most brilliantly moving speakers that has ever lived. His
strong voice and commanding presence paired with his wit and sheer intelligence brought a people to
their feet and struck fear in the hearts of a nation. Malcolm X excited and inspired a passive people to
take a stand for real. Malcom X was an essential historical figure. The black community needed

Malcolm was not a black supremacist and was not racist towards whites. In his speech The Ballot or
the Bullet given on April 3, 1964 in Cleveland, OH, Malcolm explained, Now in speaking like this, it
doesn t mean that we re anti white, but it does mean we re anti exploitation, we re anti degradation, we
re anti oppression. And if the white man doesn t want us to be anti him, let him stop oppressing and
exploiting and degrading us.
Why would anyone feel comfortable living in a society integrated with the people who instilled in
them the belief that they were subpar and actually taught them to hate themselves?
Hardships can pull people apart, but Malcolm found that common factor that unified people to come
together. He made them realize that they all came from the same place and had the same struggles, and
that is what brought them together. The only thing that all blacks in America had in common was the
fact that none of their black ancestors originated in the United States. They had all been brought from
Africa in one way or

The Origin Of Electricity And Magnetism
The Origin of Electricity and Magnetism
This paper is mainly about the origin and discoveries of electricity and magnetism. It is solely a
summary of two natural phenomenon which have changed everything about our way of life and has
ushered us into a remarkable new age.
First and foremost, it is about the fundamental idea of how electricity and magnetism came about,
then, the development and discoveries of sources of electricity and magnetism by many inventors and
the latter discoveries of mega production.
When I was a little boy, I used to wonder what causes lightning and thunder. When rain comes, I
sometimes see intermittent lightning for a while before you can hear the sound of a spark which is like
two short circuited power cables.
At school, we all learnt about matter, which consists of atoms and molecules and every atom has a
nucleus and electron(s), inside the nucleus contains an equal number of protons and neutrons. The
electrons revolve round the nucleus of the atom in order to keep it stable. Protons are positively
charged particles, neutrons are neutral and electrons are negative charge particles. The nucleus is
surrounded by shells; these are simply orbitals in which an electron(s) can be found. The number of
orbitals depends on how many electrons the atom has. The electrons which are in the outer most
orbitals have a tendency of being lost or shared by another atom in order to create a more stable
configuration.
Long before any knowledge of electricity

My Earliest Memory Of Science
My earliest memory of science in elementary school was in first grade. I remember walking into the
classroom early in the morning and seeing plant pots lined up in the back of the room. Of course one
of us asked, Mrs. Denny, what are those for? She answered like any experienced teacher We will get to
those after lunch. Thank you for noticing though. As a young student, I was more interested about
taking the plant home to my mom and showing her what I did. After lunch, we went on a walk to the
atrium in the center of the school. Mrs. Denny pointed out the different kinds of plants that were in the
atrium like flowers, and other small plants. We walked back to our classroom and talked about what a
plant needs to grow and finally got to make a plant ourselves. We each had a cup of water, a cup of
soil, a pot, and a plant. I also remember in third grade learning about the weather by creating a big
picture of the water cycle with the clouds and why there is lightening and thunder. After we made the
picture, we each got to write down a question about weather and Mrs. Heffernan went over each one. I
loved science when I was little because I was able to explore and try new things. I struggled in math
and reading because they were very black and white but science allowed creativity. I enjoyed science
in elementary school because it was very hands on so I didn t have to sit in my seat. I would define

Modern Desalinating Sea Water
Desalination has been used for thousands of years Greek sailors boiled water to evaporate fresh water
away from the salt and Romans used clay filters to trap salt. Today s sophisticated methods still
generally use the concepts of distillation or filtration. The process of desalinating sea water to make it
drinkable has a long and rich history. However, the first large scale modern desalination process to
appear was multi stage flash distillation (MSF) during the mid 20th century in the USA (1955).
Furthermore, although multi effect distillation (MED) had been discovered and had the potential to be
more efficient than MSF, it took a while longer to make the MED process efficient on an industrial
scale and this did not occur until 1959 when

The opportunities offered to public companies include market exposure, greater access to capital
funds, and appeal to the most desirable job seekers and investors. Multiple finance opportunities
however may be the greatest benefit of an IPO. Because Berry s is a growing company seeking
expansion, becoming a public company with an initial public offering could prove to be an
advantageous option. As with IPOs, there are strengths, and weaknesses associated with acquisitions.
Obviously, those strengths and weaknesses must be evaluated thoroughly prior to making the decision
to seek an acquisition. Opportunities, although mainly positive, are also essential considerations. The
opportunities associated with acquisitions are readily apparent and correspond with the strengths of
this option for expansion. Acquisitions provide important opportunities for increased shareholder
value, brand recognition, and profitability, in addition to certain tax benefits. A merger can reveal
numerous opportunities for a smaller company seeking to increase sales without depleting resources or
cash flow. If for example, Berry s has established a strong customer loyalty and presence in a
particular locale, but has not been successful in expanding to others, a merger with a competitor could
easily lead to that opportunity. This broadening of horizons is commonly known in the business world
as a horizontal merger. A

African-American Identity
When there is a significant shift in culture and society, members of any community are influenced in
their identity. This can be observed in the rise of Black Nationalism, a political and social movement
prominent in the 1960s 70s. (Levine, 1996). The movement traces back to Marcus Garvey s Universal
Negro Improvement Association of the 1920s that focused on infusing a sense of community within
the African Americans. Many supporters of Black Nationalism were youths of the community who
sought to maintain and promote their separate identity as a people of black ancestry as well as
generating a sense of pride among the black community (Altman, 1997). As this movement spread, the
identity of the African American community developed and consolidated as they began to develop
their style of fashion, music and embrace activities such as rap culture and basketball respectively.

How Can Photoshop Use The Brush Engine Help Its Fullest...
Each version of Photoshop since P7 has offered a brush engine, allowing you greater control over your

better with age in each successive update. To learn how to use the brush engine to its fullest capacity,
let s look at how a custom brush can make something as simple as a coin come to life before your eyes
(and not in that creepy, muppet sort of way.) (Disclaimer: I ve had people ask me complex questions
about getting into the professional photography business. While I have friends in the profession and
know that Photoshop is a necessary tool for the modern photographer, I m not in the business, so I can

familiar with the workings of the program.) First we start by creating the path of the coin. It s
generally simpler to begin with an example in front of you, so try scanning the coin you want to use
into the program. Next, click on the Pen Tool to trace a path around the coin s shape. You don t have to
be exact, just get the general shape. You need to fill the shape you just made with black paint . Click
on the Paths Palette, then right click on Make a Selection . Hold down the Alt button and press

Allusion And Criticism In 99 Red Balloons
Carlo Karges, a German musician and the author of the song 99 Luftballons ( 99 Red
Balloons in its English version) had lived in the period of Cold War, from birth until the time he wrote
this song. This period was characterized by nations being obsessively worried over an unexpected
nuclear attack from enemy nations. As Benjamin Fischer states, such fears were
exaggerated...nowhere in the world were the superpowers squared off in a crisis likely to escalate into
full scale nuclear war. (
A Cold War Conundrum
) The effects of this hysteria inspired Carlo Karges to write this song. The song 99 Luftballons,
demonstrates how historical events shape society and at the same time is an example of how economic
forces intervene in society s ideologies. The song was inspired in a concert of the Rolling Stones as
Gabriele Kerner; the lead vocalist of the band, mentions in an interview: Mick Jagger let the balloons
fly and the balloons flew over the Berlin Wall and that could cause...a war. ( Fox 5 ) Karges uses
allusion and irony to describe how paranoid the military governments were, by referring to how an
innocent act such as releasing balloons into the air, an act that is supposed to bring happiness could
cause a catastrophe such as an attack between neighboring countries. The author also uses metaphor in
the stanza that mentions: People think they are UFOs from outer space, so a general sent a fighter

The Decline of the Medieval Church at the End of the...
Towards the end of the Middle Ages and into the duration of the Renaissance, the Medieval Church s
social and political power dwindled. Centuries prior the Catholic Church gained a surplus of control,
largely due to the stability it maintained during the chaotic breakdown of the Western Roman Empire .
Yet toward the end of the Middle Ages the Church set in motion factors that would ultimately lead to
its downfall as the definitive figure of authority. However, despite political and social controversy
surrounding the church, the institutions it established cleared a path for a new way of thinking,
shaping society in an enduring way. The devastating effect of the Crusades coupled with the spread of
the Black Plague launched a changing public view of papal authority. This resulted in a more
analytical mindset creating a foothold for the Renaissance and Scientific Revolution . An overtly
secular focus took precedence over religious matters and the moral decay of the Church was called
into question. This obsession of secular control is most clearly exemplified by the Great Schism that
took place from 1378 to 1417 . The Great Schism was the result of the Babylonian Captivity, in which
the papacy was forced to relocate to Avignon . Soon after returning to Rome, conflict arose within the
papacy resulting in three popes fighting for the title. When the Council of Constance unified the
papacy in 1417 with the election of Martin V, the pope s political authority outside of the

A Tale Of Two Cities And The French Revolution
A Tale of Two Cities, was a story about sacrifice and revenge before and during revolutionary France.
Charles Dickens thought that if things did not change, then a violent revolution in England, similar to
the French Revolution, was possible or in the future. In A Tale of Two Cities , Charles Dickens
symbolizes the discord that the English and the French faced as he tears apart the two systems of their
society.
Charles Dickens, a brilliant author back in the 1850 s, wrote A Tale of Two Cities in order to describe
the similarities between the forces that led to the revolution and the oppression and unrest occurring in
England. The French revolution impacts history because the time period in which it takes place is
before and during the French revolution. The French revolution signifies the essence of a rapid
change, nevertheless, this change tore France right at the heart, where all the government was
functioning . France was torn apart because of the rebellions of the Bourgeoisie, against the rich
aristocrats, consequently the monarch Louis 14th. Charles Dickens went further. He conveys the idea
of the French revolution through the use of social reform along with its inevitable impact on the
individuals affected by the waves of change. Throughout history, the road to revolution is described as
an obsession to the minority group such as the American revolution in the late 18th century. It is
dangerous when a group goes down this road because the obstacle up ahead

After VWF is made, it can follow a number of pathways. It can either be released into the plasma,

One of the main fibrinolysis enzymes is plasmin, this is an enzyme that comes from plasminogen, the
conversion of plasminogen to plasmin will incorporate 2 serine proteases. These serine proteases are
tPA and uPA. The enzyme tPA, is made and released from the endothelial cells, while uPA is made by
monocytes and macrophages. Two enzymes also differ in the fact that uPA has a lower affinity for
plasminogen compared to tPA. This process will stop and inhibit the buildup of fibrin, it also allows

In the current war on terrorism the world is just beginning to realize exactly how far radicals are

also for movement of their people and weapons into the U.S.

Pros And Cons Of Hydraulic Fracking
Hydraulic Fracking is a drilling method developed for the extraction of energy resources buried
beneath shale formations located deep below the Earth s surface. The practice of vertical drilling has
been safely performed for more than 50 years, but the recent development of horizontal drilling has
exposed the practice to harsh scrutinization. Vertical drilling inserts pipe directly into the shale
formations allowing for limited access to pockets of methane. The last 10 to 15 years has brought
about the development of horizontal drilling, which allows drilling to be conducted with greater
economic benefit. The process splinters shale formations horizontally, allowing the escape of larger
amounts of methane. The methane travels through fractures and eventually is stored for transport.
Proponents of hydraulic fracking contend the practice is safe, provides jobs, and is healthier for the
environment than fossil fuels. Opponents postulate the practice pollutes the water table, is a health
risk, is a viable danger to the climate, and causes earthquakes. The ... Show more content on

waste water disposal re injected back into sandstone below the Earth s surface. The waste water acts as
a lubricate between fault lines causing movement resulting in the shift of bedrock formations. Both
advocates and opponents acknowledge the possibility for earthquake damage, however fracking

Impact of the Recession on Construction Contractors
THE IMPACT OF THE GLOBAL FINANCIAL CRISIS ON THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY
JANUARY 2009
INTRODUCTION
The current crisis in the world s financial system has left the construction industry facing its toughest
challenges for a generation. Salaries are falling; job cuts are predicted to reach 400,000 in England
alone; and the impacts look set to get much worse before they get better.
No country is immune from the impact of this and the UK, and much of the rest of the world, is
already in, or about to enter a recession. Even buoyant construction markets such as the United Arab
Emirates (UAE) are starting to feel the effect, with construction growth rate expected to slow from
20% to 15% in 2009 (Al Mal Capital). The United Nations (UN) ... Show more content on

The fiscal mitigation measures that were recently announced by the Chancellor (Pre budget statement,
November 2008) were not sufficient to address the underlying loss of confidence facing all UK
businesses (and people).
More innovative ways could be investigated by Government to help the industry survive, such as
providing credit insurance; relaxing bonding requirements on public projects; setting up project bank
accounts; and providing tax breaks/concessions for sustainable construction R D. At present, the latter
has effectively ground to a halt largely as a result of the deeply entrenched uncertainty that abound.
Jobs Loss of Skills
Almost 400,000 jobs in the construction sector in England could be lost over the next two years
(assuming GDP shrinks by 2.2% in 2009 and rises by 0.75% in 2010). It is predicted that the worst
affected area will be London, where 23% of workers are expected to be made redundant (Public and
Corporate Economic Consultants for the Local Government Association).
On the other hand, Eastern Europeans are responding to the downturn in the market by returning
home, and this has eased the severity of the job situation in many instances.
Given the forecasts for construction output in 2009, it could be assumed that jobs in the public sector
may offer more security than those in the private sector. This reinforces the need for Government to
establish how an accelerated public spending package will be

Glomerular Function
The functional unit of the kidney is the nephron. It consists of a renal corpuscle where fluid can be
filtered and a renal tubule where the filtered fluid flows through. Nephrons perform three basic
functions, Glomerular filtration, tubular reabsorption, and tubular secretion. Glomerular filtration
occurs as pressure (glomerular blood hydrostatic pressure) forces water and dissolved blood
components through the endothelial pores of the capillaries, basement membrane, and on through the
filtration slits of the adjoining visceral wall of the glomerular capsule. The resulting fluid is called the
filtrate. Most substances in blood plasma are filtered by the renal corpuscle. However, blood cells and
most proteins are not filtered. Filtration of blood depends on the force of glomerular blood hydrostatic
pressure. Filtration fraction is the percentage of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

acids, and ions, such as sodium potassium, calcium, chloride, bicarbonate, and phostphate.
Reabsorption of Na+ is especially important because more of them pass the glomerular filter than any
other substance except water. Sodium ions are reabsorbed in each portion of the renal tubule by
several transport systems. Active transport of Na+ promotes reabsorption of water by osmosis. The
loss of water from the filtrate creates a concentration gradient for some substances, such as K+, Cl ,

New York Living and School
Is New York becoming a tale of two cities or has it already claimed that title years ago? New York is
said to be the city that never sleeps, why? Because there are shops and stores owners that are open
24/7 just to make that little extra money to support their family and there are others that only work 40
hours a week that provides enough for their family. In this essay I will argue how New York City has
two stories to tell between making a living and going to school.
Somewhere in New York City a New Yorker is driving in a nice expensive car, on their way to a
corporate job. Rushing past a desk attended in the lobby of an extravagant skyscraper trying to make it
onto the elevator before the door closes that will take her to a classy conference room. In that room,
she ll think of the best way to capitalize on the stock market s latest buzz. Somewhere else in New
York City, a single mother of two children is also rushing, as she holds the hands of her young
children running down the steps of the subway trying to make it into the train before the door closes.
Making her way onto a crowded subway car going in the direction of a day care center few stop s
away from home; where she will leave her children. On her way to work she wonders how much will
be cut from this month s paycheck to pay for the groceries.

Normative Social Conformity
The influence of other people can cause individuals to change their point of view or alter their
behaviour. There are two types of social influence; normative social influence, which is when the
individual will go along with the majority in order to appear normal , and then informational social
influence, when the individual conforms because they trust the judgement of those in authority
positions such as teachers, doctors and parents. If an individual is influenced the majority and
becomes compliant to others, this is known as conforming. Kelman (1958) argued that there are three
types of conformity; internalisation, compliance and identification. A study by Sherif (1935) tested the
effects of informational social influence and conformity. Later on, Asch (1951) conducted a research
study looking at the effects of normative social influence and conformity on individuals. Zimbardo
(1973) studied conformity to social roles in order to demonstrate how certain roles have behaviours
expected from society. These studies demonstrate how an individual may behave due to social
influence in a set up environment that can then be related to real world situations.
Sherif (1935) researched whether an individual can be influenced by others when doing an ambiguous
task, one where the answer is not always clear. He conducted a laboratory experiment and used the
autokinetic effect where a light appeared to be moving, but really it was a visual illusion. Firstly he

Penny Lab Essay
In this lab we will be heating up substances and use them to galvanize pennies. When you heat up the
zinc, and then coat the penny in it, it then galvanizes the penny. Meaning, it helps protect the penny
from oxygen and water. Afterwards, you will need to record data such as the mass of the penny. This
helps keep track of what physical traits are being changed during this experiment. On part B of this
experiment, you will be heating up the now galvanized pennies in order to see what reaction you get.
The reaction you should receive from heating up the now zinc covered pennies is that the pennies will
change color.
In metallic bonding, the reason it is so good at conducting heat and electricity, is the electrons are
loosely held in the atom. Also, the structural pattern of metals is hexagonal close packing (Francis, E .

that. The idea of the electrons being able to move, delocalized electrons, helps produce its
characteristics like conductivity and malleability, etc. (Anderson . . .). In a redox reaction, oxidation

along with it. Redox reactions oxidation is the loss of electrons and reduction is the gain of electrons

prominent in the dramatic renaissance in the 16th century. Marlowe was a University graduate with a
bachelor s of arts. He tried to obtain his Masters, but the University gave him a hard time in doing so.
His first plays were performed in the late 1580 s and were quite successful in Elizabethan Theatre.
Near the end of his life, Marlow got in trouble with the law when he was accused of a crime; the crime
being atheism and blasphemy. He was later killed during a fight in 1593 by Ingram Frizer when he
stabbed him in the forehead. Marlowe was a very young playwright for his time. Because he died at
age 29, his literary career lasted less than six years. Dr. Faustus was his most popular written work
which ensured his legacy for centuries to come. His influences and inspirations for the tragedy of
Faustus were based on older German legends. The origin of Faustus came from a Latin term which
meant fortunate or lucky. It was also rumored that Faustus was the brother in law to the devil. The
play was written in blank verse and pros, which became popular by Marlow himself. Marlow s work is
the first time the tale was told in play form because it took the legend and used it to it

Vitro And Pre Implantation Genetic Diagnosis
Report
In virto fertilization (IVF) and pre implantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) can both be used when there
is difficulty for a couple to naturally conceive on their own. IVF is defined as a series of procedures
used to treat fertility or genetic problems and assist with the conception of a child. During IVF, mature
eggs are collected from your ovaries and fertilized by sperm in a lab. IVF is the most effective assisted
form of reproduction. PGD is defined as the testing of pre implantation stage embryos or oocytes for
genetic defects. It has been developed for couples whose potential offspring are at risk of severe
Mendelian disorders, structural chromosome abnormalities or mitochondrial disorders.
Over time PGD has become a socio scientific issue, this means its a controversial issue relating to
science. PGD falls into this category because it boarders on multiple options with looking into a
person s ethics. For ethical reasons its becomes an issue when looking at selective terminations and
advancements on PGD. Many people believe that life begins with fertilization, PGD gives couples the
chance to screen many fertilized embryos to see if they have diseases including Cystic Fibrosis and
Huntington s. If they do carry this gene then the couples can choose to terminate the embryo. Or if
they form many healthy embryos then the couples have to decide which one to keep. Causing a social
debate on the ethics of this decision, whether this is taking a life or not? There is

Kourtney Hall
Growing up in Coals Country By: Susan Campbell Bartoletti
Publication Information: Houghton Mifflin published this book on September 28,1999, and the book
has a total of 123 pages.
Topic: This story is mainly about children who lived in towns with coal mines and what their life was
like. And how the coal mines affected them.
This story isnt about just boys and men working in the coal mines. Its much more.It is also about
families working together to make their lives better in America. Its a story about the breaker boys
playing mean jokes on their mean bosses. It is about women and children collecting scraps of coal to
sell, when they arent really supposed to.And it is about families coming together in ethnic groups to
keep their beliefs alive. Finally,It is about the workers uniting by overcoming their differences and
make a move against the unfair labor of coal owners. The author of the book, Susan Campbell
Bartoletti, gathered the opinions of the men, children, and women who worked in Pennsylvania in the
1800s.She also got information like what job they had, where they lived, and even what kind of animals
that helped them,such as mules.
The workdays began before dawn in the coal country. When the men and boys got ready for work, they
wore different clothing. The men wore rubber boots with coveralls,as the boys pulled on
caps, overcoats, and laced up hobnailed boots. The young boys worked in the breaker. The breaker was
the tall, gloomy part where coal was broken and

Global Access For Crowd Capital
The implications for entrepreneurs seeking to gain global access to crowd capital are discussed
encompassing seven streams impacting the entrepreneurship innovation process from product concept,
design leading up to commercialization of resulting intellectual property from crowdsourced
initiatives along the lines of: (1) decision to buy, build or borrow the crowdsourcing platform; (2)
ownership, technology transfer, and intellectual property rights; (3) leveraging value network,
globalization, virtual communities, collectivities and social media; (4) financial model and innovation
commercialization; (5) leveraging the business model and value creation by aggregating key
competencies between the firm and the crowd while facilitating IP ... Show more content on

Each of these options has advantages and disadvantages. Commercial software can be expensive.
Moreover, it may have more functionality that is not warranted (e.g. prediction capabilities, idea
reward currency, etc). To date, larger corporations, such as IBM, Dell, Cisco Systems, and Ericsson,
have elected to build their own tools. Most have done so using internal staff and available platforms
that conform to their IT environments. In the case of IBM, which has the most advanced tool, major
upgrades have been done annually by external contractors with expertise not available in house. One
advantage of developing a tool is the ability to customize it to the organization s need. On the other
hand, as an increasing number of organizations become interested in adopting crowdsourcing tools, it
becomes inefficient and uneconomical for entrepreneurs to build and code the platform from scratch.
Furthermore, these synergistic solutions of customizing off the shelf commercial solution won t work
well if desired results aren t clearly defined early in the crowdsourcing process. Using in house
development to enhance the off the shelf features of a crowdsourcing commercial

1. The scientific method can be used to prove a theory. Is it is a true or false statement? Clearly
explain your answer in a short paragraph. (5 points) False, the scientific method is limited to those
phenomena which can be observed or measured. Due to the need to have completely controlled
experiments to test a hypothesis, science cannot prove everything. Science is meant to give us a better
understanding of the mysteries of the natural world. So with that being said science is good at
explaining how things work but not necessarily for explaining why do such things exist or for what
purpose .

Describe what you understand by independent variable and dependent variable in a scientific study? (
5 points) An independent variable is something you have control over, what you can choose and
manipulate. It is a variable that stands alone and doesn t change by other variables. Although in some
cases, you may not be able to manipulate the independent variable. It could be already there and or
fixed. A dependent variable is the variable that s being tested in an experiment. If the experimenter
changes the independent variable, the change in the dependent variable is observed and recorded. For
example a scientist is testing the effect of light and dark on the behavior of moths by turning a light on
and off. The independent variable is the amount of light and the moth s reaction is dependent variable.
A change in the independent variable (amount of light) directly causes a change in the dependent
variable (moth

Barbie vs. Bratz Essay
BADM 372: Advertising
Case 2: Barbie vs. Bratz 1. Provide an analysis of the Mattel Barbie brand. What factors shape
perceptions of the brand in the eyes of parents and young girls? Barbie was billed as a shapely teenage
fashion model, and made her first appearance at the American Toy Fair in New York City and soon
became a hit. (http://www.brandchannel.com/features_profile.asp?pr_id=160) Barbie was then and
still is a popular doll for young girls. In the beginning she was popular because she was the 3D version
of the very popular paper dolls, with interchangeable clothing and accessories. Today she is still very
popular and probably for the same reasons; you can buy a variety of different dolls with different
ethnicities, different ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now a days everyone has some sort of social media page including the younger generations, however
anyone under the age of 18 has to lie on their page because it s not meant for kids. Because of the
expanding popularity of social media I believe that kids are growing up faster than they need to. When
I was younger I was still playing with my Barbie dolls into 8th grade so around 13/14 years old. My
cousin has a 13 year old daughter to constantly posts on facebook how she is going to be alone forever
and that she will never meet a good guy. At 13 years old she should not be concerned about boys,
especially not finding the one she is going to spend the rest of her life with!
This all being said I think that the popularity of social media is taking away from young girls being
young which is causing them to stray away from childhood toys like Barbies and Bratz. Also with the
popularity of an internet meme taking the Barbie and Bratz image and suggesting things in a mature
manner causes people to look at them in a manner aside from being a child s play thing. 4. Do you
think the efforts made by Richard Dickson were the most effective ways to restore the brand? Defend
your answer. I think Richard Dickson did a great job of restoring the brand just based on the 18%
increase in sales in 2009. I love the fact that he mandated that all Barbie products be consistent with
the brand s identity because then when

Analysis Of The Banking System In Argentina
I. Composition of the Banking Sector The banking system in Argentina is highly concentrated. In
2015 the top three banks controlled more than 43% of all commercial banking assets. The top ten
banks control more than 77% of banking assets. This reflects a long term trend of consolidation
beginning in the 1990s when banking reforms were introduced and continued following the 2001
crisis. Today only 78 banks remain in operation, compared to 200 in the mid 1990s. Market entry is
made difficult by both evolving regulation and the concentrated power of large, established banks.
Argentine banks have expanded their presences in recent years. In mid 2016 a total 4,507 branches
were in operation across the nation. Still, this ranks below the other ... Show more content on

By far the largest bank in Argentina is state owned Banco de la Nación Argentina, which controls
27.6% of banking assets. The two next largest domestic banks are the privately owned Banco de
Galicia y Buenos Aires, controlling 7.9%, and state owned Banco de la Provincia de Buenos Aires,
controlling 7.8%. Several large foreign banks also operate in Argentina. These include the Banco
Santander Rio (controlling 8% of assets), BBVA Banco Francés (5.6% of assets), and HSBC (3.2%).
Some foreign banks have reduced, or have indicated plans to reduce, their presences in Argentina. In
2016, Citibank agreed to sell off most of its assets to Banco Rio Santander, citing desires to cut costs.
Despite such moves, Argentina may appear attractive to foreign banks seeking to expand in the Latin
American market. The soundness and profitability of Argentine banks make them potential takeover
targets for international banks, assuming a friendly regulatory climate.
II. State of the Banking Sector The banking sector has sound fundamentals. Banks are highly
capitalized. As of July 2017, the BCRA reports that banks have a capital compliance rate (qualified
capital/ risk weighted assets) of 14.7%. This exceeds the requirements by 79%. Banks have been
significantly over the capital requirements for the previous five years. Liquidity indicators are strong.
The broad liquidity ratio in July was 45.4%, while the liquidity ratio excluding BCRA securities stood
at 29.6%

The Effect Of Calculator On The Achievement Of Students ...
Overview The project revealed that calculator use does in some way have an effect on the
achievement of students. Students perception of calculator usage during instruction was mixed with
some students feeling positive about its integration while other students did not having an ill or
positive feelings towards the device. Problem Solutions Possible solutions to the research problem
based on the results are small group instruction and technology integration restrictions. Small group
instruction is a wonderful strategy that guarantees that students understand the curriculum. Small

The tool was also a weakness, because the students had seen it once before by taking the pre
assessment. The pre and post assessment could have been better if the researcher had either mixed up
the order of the problems or made a completely different assessment with the same type of problems.
Problems Encountered Problems encountered during the execution of the project were excessive
student absences, lack of consent, and school assemblies. One of the target students in the study had
excessive absences due to behavior. The student got in some trouble that required that they spend time
in In school suspension as well as Out school suspension. This problem made it impossible for the
students data to be included in the study. A couple of students did not return the consent form. One
student in particular needed multiple copies while the other student just never gave the consent to their
parents. Unscheduled school assemblies served as a problem as well. Since they were unschedule,
they were not taken into consideration when planning the study. The assemblies were also mandatory,
so there was no way to get around not attending. Influential Factors Factors that may have skewed the
findings were wording of a interview questions and grade level mathematics class. Students needed
for the researcher to explain exactly what was meant on interview questions for clarification. This

Getting Closer to God on Religious Pilgrimages in Gregory...
Than longen folk to goon on pilgrimages, said Gregory Chaucer in his book, The Canterbury Tales,
meaning people long to go on religious pilgrimages. The act of pilgrimage during the Middle Ages
had been a very popular and traditional practice in the Christian society. This visit to shrines or holy
places was an act of religious devotion and played a role in the lives of many Europeans, especially
those in the western regions of Medieval Europe. In order to understand the importance of
pilgrimages, we will emphasize the purpose of pilgrimages, the diversity of pilgrims that took part in
them, and the various shrines pilgrims visited. The motive of going on a pilgrimage in Western Europe
during the medieval period consists of several ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the medieval period, the feudal system was the social structure of Medieval Europe. It
classified the social statuses from monarchs, lords and bishops, knights and clergy, to peasants being
the lowest class. Most of the pilgrims were knights. Knights that pilgrimaged were usually former
crusaders or chivalrous men of numerous wars. During pilgrimages, knights usually took squires along
with them as an act of chivalry (25). Another popular group of pilgrims was the clergy. The clergy
contained clergywomen and clergymen. Clergywomen were usually nuns and clergymen were mostly
monks and priests. (29). Members of the clergy were usually required to partake in pilgrimages since
they were men and women of God. Aside from people of the higher classes, peasants were also a
popular group during pilgrimages. Those pilgrims ranged from serfs, millers, freemen, plowmen,
artisans, and farmers (Housley 656). In The Canterbury Tales, other types of peasants pilgrimaged.
There was a reeve, a yeoman, and a cook (Chaucer 23). Artisans or guildsmen were people that were
skilled in their jobs and supplied others with the products they mastered in creating. Besides millers,
there were artisans who made tools that were useful for several activities like spoons and spoons for
eating. Lastly, criminals usually went on pilgrimages for punishment including crimes like murder,
incest, etc. (Housley 656). Pilgrims went to religious

  • 2. Unethical Decisions In Macbeth Ethics is the way an individual person carries out an activity based on their morals and personal beliefs. Each person has their own set of beliefs as to what differentiates an ethical decision to an unethical decision and why they think that way. Over many years society has adopted acts as being ethical or normal and other acts as unethical or bad. In the novel, The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexander Dumas, many characters make unethical decisions over the years. Just like The Count of Monte Cristo, in the novel, Macbeth by William Shakespeare, the main character makes numerous unethical decisions himself. Every decision that a person makes will always have an outcome that follows, whether it is good or bad. Sometimes the outcomes of those unethical decisions will not only affect that person, but also others around them as well who become innocent victims. Lady Macbeth influences Macbeth to kill Duncan. The decision made by Lady Macbeth was unethical. It is unethical because Lady Macbeth influenced her husband to commit murder which is not the right thing to do (Hopper). Originally Macbeth did not want to commit the murder: We will proceed no further in this business. He hath honored me of late, and I have bought golden opinions from all sorts of people (Macbeth Ⅰ. ⅶ. 32 34). Macbeth liked Duncan and did not want to go through with Lady Macbeth s scheme. • 3. Turner Syndrome Research Paper I chose to research Turner Syndrome because it sounded very interesting. Turner syndrome is a condition that affects females only. Turner syndrome is the result of a missing, whole or partial, X chromosome. Turner syndrome can be diagnosed before birth but will occasionally not be diagnosed until the teen years. Diagnosis will depend upon symptom severity. Turner syndrome has symptoms for both those born before and after birth. Diagnosis is dependent upon finding symptoms when it comes to prenatal diagnosis. Abnormal fluid collection, abnormalities of the heart, and kidney abnormalities are all signs that doctors will look to when attempting to diagnosis the syndrome. Turner syndrome is a very physical syndrome. The signs and symptoms are physical and easily spotted in many if not most. Symptoms for many include poor overall growth and will be apparent at birth and infancy. Wide or web like neck, a small lower jaw, high and narrow roof of the mouth, low set ears, low hairline and the nape of the neck, short fingers and toes, outward turned arms, swelling of extremities, short height, and delayed growth are all large and prominent signs of Turner syndrome at an early age. There are some cases of delayed diagnosis of Turner syndrome. Symptoms for those that are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 4. Malcolm X Thesis No man in our time aroused fear and hatred in the white man as did Malcolm, because in him the white man sense an implacable foe who could not be had for any price a man unreservedly committed to the cause of liberating the black man in American society rather than integrating the black man into that society. (Haley XXV) Without a doubt Malcolm X was one of the most brilliantly moving speakers that has ever lived. His strong voice and commanding presence paired with his wit and sheer intelligence brought a people to their feet and struck fear in the hearts of a nation. Malcolm X excited and inspired a passive people to take a stand for real. Malcom X was an essential historical figure. And if the white man doesn t want us to be anti him, let him stop oppressing and exploiting and degrading us. Why would anyone feel comfortable living in a society integrated with the people who instilled in them the belief that they were subpar and actually taught them to hate themselves? Hardships can pull people apart, but Malcolm found that common factor that unified people to come together. He made them realize that they all came from the same place and had the same struggles, and that is what brought them together. The only thing that all blacks in America had in common was the fact that none of their black ancestors originated in the United States. They had all been brought from Africa in one way or ... • 5. The Origin Of Electricity And Magnetism The Origin of Electricity and Magnetism This paper is mainly about the origin and discoveries of electricity and magnetism. It is solely a summary of two natural phenomenon which have changed everything about our way of life and has ushered us into a remarkable new age. First and foremost, it is about the fundamental idea of how electricity and magnetism came about, then, the development and discoveries of sources of electricity and magnetism by many inventors and the latter discoveries of mega production. When I was a little boy, I used to wonder what causes lightning and thunder. When rain comes, I sometimes see intermittent lightning for a while before you can hear the sound of a spark which is like two short circuited power cables. At school, we all learnt about matter, which consists of atoms and molecules and every atom has a nucleus and electron(s), inside the nucleus contains an equal number of protons and neutrons. The electrons revolve round the nucleus of the atom in order to keep it stable. Protons are positively charged particles, neutrons are neutral and electrons are negative charge particles. The nucleus is surrounded by shells; these are simply orbitals in which an electron(s) can be found. The number of orbitals depends on how many electrons the atom has. The electrons which are in the outer most orbitals have a tendency of being lost or shared by another atom in order to create a more stable configuration. Long before any knowledge of electricity ... • 6. My Earliest Memory Of Science My earliest memory of science in elementary school was in first grade. I remember walking into the classroom early in the morning and seeing plant pots lined up in the back of the room. Of course one of us asked, Mrs. Denny, what are those for? She answered like any experienced teacher We will get to those after lunch. Thank you for noticing though. As a young student, I was more interested about taking the plant home to my mom and showing her what I did. After lunch, we went on a walk to the atrium in the center of the school. Mrs. Denny pointed out the different kinds of plants that were in the atrium like flowers, and other small plants. We walked back to our classroom and talked about what a plant needs to grow and finally got to make a plant ourselves. We each had a cup of water, a cup of soil, a pot, and a plant. I also remember in third grade learning about the weather by creating a big picture of the water cycle with the clouds and why there is lightening and thunder. After we made the picture, we each got to write down a question about weather and Mrs. Heffernan went over each one. I loved science when I was little because I was able to explore and try new things. I struggled in math and reading because they were very black and white but science allowed creativity. I enjoyed science in elementary school because it was very hands on so I didn t have to sit in my seat. Modern Desalinating Sea Water Desalination has been used for thousands of years Greek sailors boiled water to evaporate fresh water away from the salt and Romans used clay filters to trap salt. Today s sophisticated methods still generally use the concepts of distillation or filtration. The process of desalinating sea water to make it drinkable has a long and rich history. However, the first large scale modern desalination process to appear was multi stage flash distillation (MSF) during the mid 20th century in the USA (1955). Furthermore, although multi effect distillation (MED) had been discovered and had the potential to be more efficient than MSF, it took a while longer to make the MED process efficient on an industrial scale and this did not occur until 1959 when ... Because Berry s is a growing company seeking expansion, becoming a public company with an initial public offering could prove to be an advantageous option. As with IPOs, there are strengths, and weaknesses associated with acquisitions. Obviously, those strengths and weaknesses must be evaluated thoroughly prior to making the decision to seek an acquisition. Opportunities, although mainly positive, are also essential considerations. The opportunities associated with acquisitions are readily apparent and correspond with the strengths of this option for expansion. Acquisitions provide important opportunities for increased shareholder value, brand recognition, and profitability, in addition to certain tax benefits. A merger can reveal numerous opportunities for a smaller company seeking to increase sales without depleting resources or cash flow. If for example, Berry s has established a strong customer loyalty and presence in a particular locale, but has not been successful in expanding to others, a merger with a competitor could easily lead to that opportunity. • 9. African-American Identity When there is a significant shift in culture and society, members of any community are influenced in their identity. This can be observed in the rise of Black Nationalism, a political and social movement prominent in the 1960s 70s. (Levine, 1996). The movement traces back to Marcus Garvey s Universal Negro Improvement Association of the 1920s that focused on infusing a sense of community within the African Americans. Many supporters of Black Nationalism were youths of the community who sought to maintain and promote their separate identity as a people of black ancestry as well as generating a sense of pride among the black community (Altman, 1997). To learn how to use the brush engine to its fullest capacity, let s look at how a custom brush can make something as simple as a coin come to life before your eyes (and not in that creepy, muppet sort of way.) (Disclaimer: I ve had people ask me complex questions about getting into the professional photography business. • 11. Allusion And Criticism In 99 Red Balloons Carlo Karges, a German musician and the author of the song 99 Luftballons ( 99 Red Balloons in its English version) had lived in the period of Cold War, from birth until the time he wrote this song. This period was characterized by nations being obsessively worried over an unexpected nuclear attack from enemy nations. As Benjamin Fischer states, such fears were exaggerated...nowhere in the world were the superpowers squared off in a crisis likely to escalate into full scale nuclear war. ( A Cold War Conundrum ) The effects of this hysteria inspired Carlo Karges to write this song. The song 99 Luftballons, demonstrates how historical events shape society and at the same time is an example of how economic forces intervene in society s ideologies. The song was inspired in a concert of the Rolling Stones as Gabriele Kerner; the lead vocalist of the band, mentions in an interview: Mick Jagger let the balloons fly and the balloons flew over the Berlin Wall and that could cause...a war. ( Fox 5 ) Karges uses allusion and irony to describe how paranoid the military governments were, by referring to how an innocent act such as releasing balloons into the air, an act that is supposed to bring happiness could cause a catastrophe such as an attack between neighboring countries. The author also uses metaphor in the stanza that mentions: People think they are UFOs from outer space, so a general sent a fighter ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. The Decline of the Medieval Church at the End of the... Towards the end of the Middle Ages and into the duration of the Renaissance, the Medieval Church s social and political power dwindled. Centuries prior the Catholic Church gained a surplus of control, largely due to the stability it maintained during the chaotic breakdown of the Western Roman Empire . Yet toward the end of the Middle Ages the Church set in motion factors that would ultimately lead to its downfall as the definitive figure of authority. However, despite political and social controversy surrounding the church, the institutions it established cleared a path for a new way of thinking, shaping society in an enduring way. The devastating effect of the Crusades coupled with the spread of the Black Plague launched a changing public view of papal authority. This resulted in a more analytical mindset creating a foothold for the Renaissance and Scientific Revolution . An overtly secular focus took precedence over religious matters and the moral decay of the Church was called into question. This obsession of secular control is most clearly exemplified by the Great Schism that took place from 1378 to 1417 . The Great Schism was the result of the Babylonian Captivity, in which the papacy was forced to relocate to Avignon . Soon after returning to Rome, conflict arose within the papacy resulting in three popes fighting for the title. When the Council of Constance unified the papacy in 1417 with the election of Martin V, the pope s political authority outside of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. A Tale Of Two Cities And The French Revolution A Tale of Two Cities, was a story about sacrifice and revenge before and during revolutionary France. Charles Dickens thought that if things did not change, then a violent revolution in England, similar to the French Revolution, was possible or in the future. In A Tale of Two Cities , Charles Dickens symbolizes the discord that the English and the French faced as he tears apart the two systems of their society. Charles Dickens, a brilliant author back in the 1850 s, wrote A Tale of Two Cities in order to describe the similarities between the forces that led to the revolution and the oppression and unrest occurring in England. The French revolution impacts history because the time period in which it takes place is before and during the French revolution. The French revolution signifies the essence of a rapid change, nevertheless, this change tore France right at the heart, where all the government was functioning . France was torn apart because of the rebellions of the Bourgeoisie, against the rich aristocrats, consequently the monarch Louis 14th. Charles Dickens went further. He conveys the idea of the French revolution through the use of social reform along with its inevitable impact on the individuals affected by the waves of change. Throughout history, the road to revolution is described as an obsession to the minority group such as the American revolution in the late 18th century. It is dangerous when a group goes down this road because the obstacle up ahead ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 16. Pros And Cons Of Hydraulic Fracking Hydraulic Fracking is a drilling method developed for the extraction of energy resources buried beneath shale formations located deep below the Earth s surface. The practice of vertical drilling has been safely performed for more than 50 years, but the recent development of horizontal drilling has exposed the practice to harsh scrutinization. Vertical drilling inserts pipe directly into the shale formations allowing for limited access to pockets of methane. The last 10 to 15 years has brought about the development of horizontal drilling, which allows drilling to be conducted with greater economic benefit. The process splinters shale formations horizontally, allowing the escape of larger amounts of methane. The methane travels through fractures and eventually is stored for transport. Proponents of hydraulic fracking contend the practice is safe, provides jobs, and is healthier for the environment than fossil fuels. Opponents postulate the practice pollutes the water table, is a health risk, is a viable danger to the climate, and causes earthquakes. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On the other hand, Eastern Europeans are responding to the downturn in the market by returning home, and this has eased the severity of the job situation in many instances. • 18. Glomerular Function The functional unit of the kidney is the nephron. It consists of a renal corpuscle where fluid can be filtered and a renal tubule where the filtered fluid flows through. Nephrons perform three basic functions, Glomerular filtration, tubular reabsorption, and tubular secretion. Glomerular filtration occurs as pressure (glomerular blood hydrostatic pressure) forces water and dissolved blood components through the endothelial pores of the capillaries, basement membrane, and on through the filtration slits of the adjoining visceral wall of the glomerular capsule. The resulting fluid is called the filtrate. Most substances in blood plasma are filtered by the renal corpuscle. However, blood cells and most proteins are not filtered. • 20. Normative Social Conformity The influence of other people can cause individuals to change their point of view or alter their behaviour. There are two types of social influence; normative social influence, which is when the individual will go along with the majority in order to appear normal , and then informational social influence, when the individual conforms because they trust the judgement of those in authority positions such as teachers, doctors and parents. If an individual is influenced the majority and becomes compliant to others, this is known as conforming. Kelman (1958) argued that there are three types of conformity; internalisation, compliance and identification. A study by Sherif (1935) tested the effects of informational social influence and conformity. Later on, Asch (1951) conducted a research study looking at the effects of normative social influence and conformity on individuals. Zimbardo (1973) studied conformity to social roles in order to demonstrate how certain roles have behaviours expected from society. These studies demonstrate how an individual may behave due to social influence in a set up environment that can then be related to real world situations. Sherif (1935) researched whether an individual can be influenced by others when doing an ambiguous task, one where the answer is not always clear. Most have done so using internal staff and available platforms that conform to their IT environments. In the case of IBM, which has the most advanced tool, major upgrades have been done annually by external contractors with expertise not available in house. One advantage of developing a tool is the ability to customize it to the organization s need. When I was younger I was still playing with my Barbie dolls into 8th grade so around 13/14 years old. My cousin has a 13 year old daughter to constantly posts on facebook how she is going to be alone forever and that she will never meet a good guy. At 13 years old she should not be concerned about boys, especially not finding the one she is going to spend the rest of her life with! This all being said I think that the popularity of social media is taking away from young girls being young which is causing them to stray away from childhood toys like Barbies and Bratz.
