Psy 201 Week 1 Evolution Research Paper
According to Ms. Witsaman, evolution is not the theory of how life began, which is a common
misconception nowadays, but the theory of how life has changed over time. Theories are predictions
which are backed up by several evidences and supported by scientists. The evidences that scientists
use now to prove include fossils, homologous structures, analogous structures, vestigial structures,
embryology, biogeography, and biochemicals. Fossils are the remains of living things that once
roamed the Earth. Homologous structure are structures shared by different organisms that have similar
structure but different functions. Analogous structures are the opposite, they have similar functions but
completely different structure.Vestigial structures are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I have to assume that the skulls that were closest to walking on four legs lived in environments with a
lot of trees and high grounds. That being said, now I have to assume that our ancestors eventually
found it easier to live in long plains and migrated which made them lose the need to be efficient on all
fours, thus leading to bipedalism.
Conclusion:
My hypothesis is was not supported since there was not a single organism that walked on four legs
according to my data. I realized that just the general shape and condition of the skull didn t correlate
with how old it was, but the cranial capacity was the major determining factor. Every time humans
evolved the need for their mental capacity increased and that s evident in the skulls: the oldest having
the smallest cranial capacity, the most recent having the largest cranial capacity. I also want to say that
according to my data, our ancestors didn t all just start walking on two legs one day, but the need to
walk on two legs wasn t there for a couple of our ancestors which is why some are so close to not
being able to walk on two legs at all. That leads me to say that bipedalism was not dependant on when
an organism was alive but where an organism was alive. As for prognathism, I also believe that

Albee and Williams Use of Virility in Their Plays Essay
The sexual dominance of male characters over their female counterparts in the plays establishes their
superiority and control. Both playwrights suggest that a degree of personal status is acquired by
sexually dominate women. The rape scene shows Stanley s use of power sexually through rage and
strength, used to illustrate his final defeat of Blanche and establish himself as King of his territory,
limited to expressing basic desire . Since earliest manhood... his life has been pleasure with women...
giving and taking of it... with power and pride . It is a power he can achieve over women that they
cannot over him. Let s have some rough house! [He springs towards her, overturning the table. She

Williams uses the men s clothing to portray power, a statement which contrasts to Blanche s delicate
white clothing. [Stanley, Steve, Mitch, and Pablo wear colored shirts, solid blues, a purple, a red and
white check, a light green, and they are men at the peak of their physical manhood, as coarse and
direct and powerful as the primary colors.] . This description allows the image of the men to be
presented as vivid and virile. Both playwrights suggest that physical and sexual dominance over
women leads to an improved perception and status of men.
George s power over Martha is not evident until the end of the play when he kills their child. George
says, We got a telegram; there was a car accident, and he s dead. POUF! Followed by Martha s reply
(A howl... weakens into a moan) NOOOOOOoooooo . By killing their son he kills the illusion which
gives Martha her maternal role, and she effectively loses the battle. By killing the son, George gains
power after Martha s fling with Nick, while the... two of you were out of the room... I mean, I don t
know where . Similarly he regains a position of control after Martha soiled his role as a father, a son
who was so ashamed of his father he asked me... that he was not our child; who could not tolerate the
shabby failings his father had become . At the end of the play the battle for power is won by George,
and his virility is restored as he takes her to bed . Her stumbled simple sentences show the

Descriptive Essay On Daddy
I m sure every Daddy has said at least one thing on this list, and has probably regretted it ever since.
When in the heat of the moment, it always seems that you say the most hurtful things to the ones you
love the most. Anger takes hold, and words get thrown around. Let s face it, a majority of littles are

Overview Of Anxiety
It is natural for a person to have a sense of stress and worry throughout the their daily experiences.
Whether it has to do with work, school or finances. Surprisingly it is also natural for some people to
experience fear, nervousness, and anxiousness out of nowhere. People may think it is abnormal to
have a rush of emotions out of the blue, but this is something a lot of people in society have to deal
with on a daily basis. The combination of these emotion reflexes is what is known as anxiety. Anxiety
is a mental disorder that makes a person have sudden unwanted feelings of fear, anxiousness, and
worrisome. Having an anxiety episode is something the can frequently occur and take a troll on a
person s mental and physical health. Anxiety is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They still have clear remembrance of what happened at the time and they may feel like it is haunting
them. Types of events that can lead to Post traumatic Stress Disorder are car accidents, any type of
abuse, military combat, etc. It is most common for veterans to have PTSD. Veterans have witness
many horrific scenes that their anxiety can be provoked by just a firework, which would represent the
sound of a gun going off. A person can have post traumatic traumatic stress disorder if their behavior
switches and becomes more aggressive. They can become hostile towards others and socially isolate
themselves, or they can be destructive. It is also common for people with PTSD to loss interest in
actives and trust in people. An example of PSTD is there is a case study for a woman named Marian
M, whose mother s parents are survivors of the holocaust and relocated to the United States after
losing family members in the concentration camps. Her father s parents grew up during genocide, and
Marians parents grew up during the great depression (Ford 3). Marian s parents and grandparent were
raised during tragic events that took place around the world. Marian attended the 1972 Munich
Olympics when a terrorist attack took place. Although she was not physically hurt her mental health
was damaged. During the nights she would have nightmares of terrorist attacks or car accidents (Ford
4 5). This example show how being the in a traumatic event can change a persons life. In the moment
of these events they are not sure if they will make it out alive, hearing people scream in horror or the
sound of a gun going off can stick with a person

How To Test Which Type Of Sunscreen Worked Better Than Lotion
The purpose of this experiment was to test which type of sunscreen worked better, spray or lotion. The
experiment was conducted by cutting a UV paper into squares and labeling each one with each of the
six sunscreen. A small amount of each sunscreen was applied to a square and was taken outside for
three minutes to be exposed to the sun. The UV squares were taken back inside to be soaked in water
for one minute each. The squares were left to dry for twenty four hours. Three trials were conducted
for each sunscreen. After the twenty four hours of drying time and for the results to fully come in,
immediately it was noticed that the lotions made the UV paper much lighter than the sprays. For all
three trials, sunscreen number two, made the UV paper the whitest, meaning it protected the UV paper
from sun exposure more.
It was already hypothesized that the lotion sunscreens would protect the UV paper more as all three
sunscreen lotions contained zinc oxide while none of the sprays contained this ingredient. Zinc oxide
is very helpful for sensitive skin when it comes to sun block and provides a broad spectrum sun
protection that helps prevent sunburns. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One error that did occur was that the lotions were applied very unevenly. The lotions were applied
evenly throughout the UV square and was just left as a thick material in the middle of the square. A
paint brush or using an even smaller amount may have helped apply the products evenly across the
small square. Another error that may have occurred was that the spray was applied directly to the UV
squares. This resulted in uneven and patchy coverage. This uneven coverage could have affected the
results as only parts of the paper had sunscreen applied to it. This may not have occurred if the spray
sunscreen was first sprayed into a small container and applied with a fingertip or a paintbrush to the

Equal Employment Opportunity, Affirmative Action, and Workforce Diversity:
Cases, Laws, Philosophies, Values and their Future
John Nelson
Arkansas State University¬
Abstract
Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), Affirmative Action and Diversity are key concepts of public
human resources management in the United States. Human Resource Managers must pay careful
attention to these concepts and their values in order to keep their work place compliant, positive and
free of controversy. One has to understand the values, history and laws that have shaped each of these
concepts. This essay will attempt to briefly outline each concept, divulge briefly into their formation

If this level of customer service is adopted by policy in a public agency, it will soon become evident in
the management style and eventually will trickle down into the hiring. If a public agency can adopt a
high level customer service policy, that constantly seeks feedback from its customers, the tax payer. If
this feedback, then become a factor for evaluation and appraisals, the management and hiring will
become conscious of efficiency and try to mimic the diversity of the population in their hiring. This
aggressive diversity management system coupled with EEO could be great option for public agencies
to be diverse and eliminate Affirmative Action. While the author understands that there are other
complex issues and arguments surrounding this topic, the concept of the tax payer forcing the public
agency to diversity, just as a the customers force a business to diversity is an appealing process to the

The Origin and Continuation of the Greeting Card
The Origin and Continuation of the Greeting Card
The perfect words, the right sentiments, the ability to say exactly what we ourselves can t: just a few
ways greeting cards are defined. Greeting cards, the stars of today, started with a humble beginning.
The custom of sending greeting cards can be traced back to the ancient Chinese, who exchanged
messages of good will to celebrate the New Year, and to the early Egyptians, who conveyed their
greetings on papyrus scrolls. By the early 1400s, handmade paper greeting cards were being
exchanged in Europe. The Germans are known to have printed New Year s greetings from woodcuts
as early as 1400, and handmade paper Valentines were being exchanged in various parts of Europe in

First in person, then via post, by 1822, homemade Christmas cards had become the bane of the U.S.
postal system. That year, the Superintendent of Mails in Washington, D.C., complained of the need to
hire sixteen extra mailmen. Fearful of future bottlenecks, he petitioned Congress to limit the exchange
of cards by post, concluding, I don t know what we ll do if it keeps on . (Panati) Of the original one
thousand cards printed for Henry Cole, twelve exist today in private collections.
Printed cards soon became the rage in England; then in Germany. But it required an additional thirty
years for Americans to take to the idea. In 1875, Boston lithographer Louis Prang, a native of
Germany, began publishing cards, and earned the title father of the American Christmas card. Prang s
high quality cards were costly, and they initially featured not images as the Madonna and Child, a
decorated tree, or even Santa Claus, but of colored floral arrangements of roses, daisies, gardenias,
geraniums, and apple blossoms. Americans took to Christmas cards, but unfortunately, not to Prang s;
he was forced out of business in 1890. It was cheap penny

Analysis Of Thomson s Argument Of Determining The...
Through the words of Thomson, the argument of determining the implementation of life exists.
Thomson examines the conflict between practicality and impracticality. Practicality stands on
empiricism where science based beliefs as factual concrete information structures the overall argument
of pro choice. Impracticality stands on faith where it could be argued that religious based knowledge
serves as concrete information to defend pre life. In my essay I will argue Thomson s claim of the
special cases in which abortion is acceptable and challenge the morality of deciding the fate of a
human life who does now have a voice of input.
Thomson begins her argument by discussing when life begins. There are two theoretical ideas of how

Revenue Neutral and Enhancing Alternative Proposal for...
REVENUE NEUTRAL AND ENHANCING ALTERNATIVE PROPOSAL FOR UNETHICAL
TAXATION OF SALARIED INCOME
1.1 INTRODUCTION
In systems governing interactions among entities, the term fair may be a reasonable description of
what is ethical. For example, the prevailing view in the U.S. is that fair treatment of an indigent
individual accused of a crime requires that he or she be provided legal representation in his or her
interactions with the judicial system. Similarly, business related laws and regulations have ethical
dimensions. Thus, while the law may generally consider a 21 year old eligible to enter into business
transactions, society may deem it unethical (or unfair) for a mortgage broker to offer a loan to a native
borrower who is clearly incapable of re paying the loan. As a result, lending regulations (e.g., rules
limiting loans to four times a borrower s annual income) might be established to prevent a loan from
occurring, even though it would otherwise be a legal transaction. In this case, the free market system
would be constrained by regulations favouring the welfare of the borrower over that of the broker,
primarily based on ethical considerations.
Tax systems define the terms under which taxpayers interact with governments. As with other laws
and regulations, such terms may be deemed either fair or unfair under a given standard. The
predominant source of income for millions of U.S. taxpayers is wage, salary, or self employment
income. Thus, tax policies related

WRIT 102
Feb 24, 2013
The Science of Shopping versus The Signs of Shopping Two Sides of an Issue Shopping has become a
daily activity which happens a billion times in America and around the world. We cannot imagine how
our lives would be affected if shopping was suddenly stopped. Malcolm Gladwell and Anne Norton
both write articles about two sides of modern day shopping: how consumers have impacted the retail
industry and how the industry influences consumers. In the article The Science of Shopping, Malcolm
Gladwell, a well known writer and journalist, analyzes the shopping behaviors of customers and how
retailers can lure customers; while Anne Norton, a professor of political science at the University of
Pennsylvania, in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, Gladwell writes What Paco likes are facts (100). The sentence is short but strong and
clear enough to emphasize the idea of the following paragraph. The way Gladwell describes Paco
Underhill and his expression of Paco is objective. Although Gladwell says It isn t a hostile gaze,
because Paco isn t hostile at all, readers do not find any kind of subjective emotion in his article (102).
He keeps his tone throughout the article neutral, neither positive nor negative. This is one of the
strongest points that makes his essay more convincing compared with Norton s essay. Gladwell is
specific when talking about Paco. He gives a brief description of Paco and the way he feels when he
interacts with Paco: Paco Underhill is a tall man in his mid forties, partly bald, with a neatly trimmed
beard and an engaging, almost goofy manner (Gladwell 98). This gives readers a clear image of Paco
Underhill like he actually stands before them. In contrast, Norton shows her negative voice in the
Shopping at the Mall part of the article. Norton writes Those who own and manage the mall restrict
what come within their confines (105). Using many strong verbs, restrict, permit and a clear negative
tone, Norton strongly confirms that Neither freedom of speech nor freedom of assembly is permitted
there (105). Despite

The Realism Period Of The Novel The Tales Of Huckleberry...
With the rise of the Realism period brought in the notion of seeing and reading what is truly
happening in the world. This era was brought forth as a counter to the Romantic period of writing
which focused more on the imaginative. The writing belief of the Realism period involved showing
the truth while avoiding implausible, exotic, and supernatural elements that where seen in the era s
past. Often times this is used to show the ugliness of society specifically the middle class, who is often
viewed as ones trying to live above their means. During this era many prominent writers found there
calling ranging from Mark twain who wrote stories like The Tales of Huckleberry Fin to Gustave
Flaurbert who wrote stories like Madam Bovary . This story is Flaurbert s way of showing his disdain
in the rise of the middle class. With the belief that the middle class where imitator s that wanted to live
the lavish lifestyle of the upperclassman. In the story the reader is introduced to three important
characters in Elder Bovary, Heloise Bovary, and Emma Bovary. These three women show Flaubert s
disdain for the people of the lower and middle classes tried to act as if they were apart of the upper
class by any means possible. Elder Bovary is the mother to one of the first main character named
Charles Bovary. She is described as wanting to live vicariously through her son Isolated within her

Jonathan Edwards Role In The Constitution Of The Five Nations
The Role of Nature in the Iroquois League and Jonathan Edwards work Emilee N. McFalls
Carolinas College of Health Sciences ENG 231
Nature plays a major role in not only the Iroquois League but also in Jonathan Edwards work. When it
comes to the Iroquois League s Constitution of the Five Nations, their references of nature seem to
serve as a way to connect humans with the natural world. For Edwards, he used nature a bit
differently. He used nature in his sermons to give his congregations a better picture of the images he
was trying to convey. The Constitution of the Five Nations uses images of nature all throughout the
Binding Laws. There are references to trees and even animals. Roots have spread out from the Tree of

He used symbols of nature to better convey his message of Hell to both believers and non believers.
Edwards used images of fire, water, wind, clouds, spiders, and snakes in order put some fear into the
hearts of his audience. The God that holds you over the pit of hell, much as one holds a spider or some
loathsome insect over the fire, abhors you and is dreadfully provoked; His wrath towards you burns
like fire; He looks upon you as worthy of nothing else but to be cast into the fire; He is of purer eyes
than to bear to have you in His sight; you are ten thousand times more abominable in His eyes than the
most hateful and venomous serpent is in ours. (McMichael Leonard, 2011, p. 162) Within this passage
alone, it is evident that Edwards used nature all throughout his sermon. When explaining God s wrath,
Edwards compares the wrath to water. The wrath of God is like great waters that are damned for the
present, they increase more and more and more, and rise higher and higher, till an outlet is given; and
the longer the stream is stopped, the more rapid and mighty is its course when once it is let loose.
(McMichael Leonard, 2011, p. 161) Often, when water is used as a symbol it is meant to show a
cleansing effect. Whether he was using the symbol of water to show that the salvation that can come
from God alone can cleanse our dirty hearts, or if he was leaning more towards the image of Noah and
the Ark when God completely wiped out the entire human population. Granted, God did promise that
he would never flood the earth again. Whichever image Edwards was leaning towards, his audience
still got the point that he was trying to make. Edwards knew what He was doing when he preached
this sermon. He felt that it was appropriate to put the fear of God into his congregation and basically
scare them into

Don t Bother Me By James Taggart And Hank Rearden
Don t bother me, don t bother me, don t bother me. James Taggart, President of Taggart
Transcontinental Railroad and one of the last descendants of the distinguished Nat Taggart, exists in a
constant state of irritation. He snaps at any interruption; he whines at any setback; he dissolves into
hysterics when faced with a problem of any size. More often than not, he foists accountability and
responsibility for action upon his capable sister and Vice President, Dagny. Bother and its avoidance
are a central part of Taggart s existence. His bother comes to him in many forms, simultaneously
referring with different shadings to different circumstances; however, they are all symptoms of his
deepest, greatest bother. If his bother is felt as annoyance and perplexity, he is bothered by the idea of
business and its embodiment in the competent industrialists Dagny Taggart and Hank Rearden.
Taggart is first introduced as he swats at these bothers; Eddie Willers, that honorable feudal serf of the
Taggarts and their railroad, had approached him with concerns about a wreck on his Rio Norte Line
and its consequences (15). Naturally, he ducks that responsibility, pleading don t bother me and
instead taking the opportunity to argue with Eddie over the ethics of his railroad. He has no use for the
particulars of business when, it seems to him, there are more important things in the world than
making money (17). This vaguely moral realm is one where the primary virtues are the

Humanity Is The Duty Of Humanity
Humanity has not learned yet Humanity cannot be defined in two simple terms. Two words are not
enough to completely encompass everyone and everything, but that is exactly what humans do. It is
the duty of humanity to learn and grow which is why mankind must formulate more concise and clear
definitions of good and evil. It is flabbergasting that the human species has not been intelligent enough
to learn this lesson yet. Continuing, the current definition of evil is too relative to be the same for
every human being. Consider the question, do humans have the right to do whatever they can to
survive? Secondly, look at Thomas Hobbes point of view on the social contract and finally reflect on
William Golding s Lord of the flies for a unique perspective on human nature in extraneous situations.
Humanity in the past has wiped out species, demolished forests, and dumped an ocean s worth of
CO2in the atmosphere. The average person would see these examples as abominable, however, we did
not at the time and they are still heavily debated topics. If mankind cannot decide exactly what is
acceptable, then why do humans try to? Humanity should author a system in which it defines things as
acceptable or not while taking into account the relativity. One cannot endeavor to define all of
humanity or what they currently consider commencible, as a part of the duty to themselves, they must
respect each other s opinions in all situations. To conclude, when defining human nature it is of the

Civil Rights Act Of 1964 Research Paper
Equality, it is about treating everyone with fairness and respect as an individual. Being treated with
fairness and respect is what equality truly means. The word equality has many meanings and beliefs in
it that makes the word complicated. Equality can be stated differently with each and every individual
in what they believe what is fair and what is not. There is equality in our rights, our skin color, and
opportunities. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 which ended segregation and stopped discrimination of
race, color, religion, sex or national origin. Equality is a big factor in the Civil Rights Act of 1964

That was what some of the beliefs in equality that was in the 1900 s. Though it is common sense that
this is wrong and that everyone is human and no one should be treated differently based on their race
or color. An example of equality with Civil Rights Act is that there was a group of college students
who were a mix color of black and white. The group of students went into a public restaurant for
whites only, and they believed that the black should be treated as equal as to the whites. In fact it
showed that equality can be presented as fairness and respect in the Civil Rights. Many people
believed that equality is a big factor in opening doors to more opportunities in life. If there is fairness
and respect at a job it can create opportunities for others to be promoted. As jobs hired people they
must treat all applicants as equals, and treat each and every individual with fairness and respect. An
example is that some jobs require a higher standard of education for a person to be able to apply or
even get into an interview. If someone has a bachelors and another person has only his high school
diploma, the one who would get hired is the person with his

Essay An Analysis of “American Pie”
American Pie is an impressionistic ballad by Don Mclean which features unique and intriguing lyrics.
It has imaginative changes in tempo, vocal delivery and instrumentation, and imparts a wide range of
emotions ranging from pure joy, to melancholy and despair. The song takes the listener on an
autobiographical journey through the turbulent 1960 s with references to the events that shaped the
era. Don Mclean was enshrined in the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2004 for his work on American Pie

Although the formal structure of this song is quite good, perhaps the use of allusion is one of the most
important poetic devices found in American Pie . An allusion is a reference to a famous person, place
or thing. In the first verse Mclean writes But February made me shiver with ever paper I d deliver .
This allusion refers to the plane crash on February 3, 1959 that killed Buddy Holly, Richie Valens and
the Big Bopper, J.P. Richardson. Another famous allusion in this song is found in the fifth verse,
Mclean makes a reference to the holy trinity, he writes, And the three men I admired the most: The
father, son, and the Holy Ghost, they caught the last train to the coast, the day the music died . This
allusion is particularly brilliant on the part of Don Mclean, because it allows each individual person to
use their imagination in order to interpret his allusion. This allusion has multiple meanings, for an
example if one analysis this allusion in the context of music, Mclean was obviously referring once
again to the death of Buddy Holly, Richie Valens, and the Big Bopper, J. P. Richardson. However one
could also analyze this allusion in the context of the political leaders of the 1960 s and thinks that
Mclean was alluding to the deaths of President John F. Kennedy, Martin Luther King, and Robert
Kennedy.
In addition to formal structure and allusions Don Mclean uses Figurative language, such as metaphors,

John De A Position Of Infamy
Travis R. Leverett Dr. Hertzel Historical Research and Writing 6 April 2015 John Dean: A Position of
Infamy In the early 1970 s, American s social climate was changing. The previous decade brought the
senseless assassination of a young, vibrant President, John Fitzgerald Kennedy. On the heels of his
assassination came the assassination of his assassin, Lee Harvey Oswald; leaving America working
through a series of questioning and wondering why. Citizens witnessed the violence across the
country, as African Americans fought for civil rights, and they saw President Lyndon Baines Johnson
sign the Civil Rights Act into law. Over seas, America was involved in an unpopular war in Vietnam.
Young Americans did not understand why there was an American presence there, and yet they were
being drafted, and made to fight. Protests against the war were held on college and university
campuses across the country. The cold war with the Soviet Union was alive and well, and one year

Declaration Of Rights
Life, Liberty, Pursuit of happiness, is one of the most important parts of the declaration. That means
that citizens have the right to all those things. It is a natural right. The words of the Declaration of
Independence mean the right freedom, justice, equality, security, protection, and fair government. I
think the two most important words are Rights and equality.
All men are created equal. The Declaration says ...all men are created equal. That means that
everybody has rights given to them since birth. The government on has as much power as the people
give it. That means the government is limited to what they can and can t do the government is also not
above any part of the law. They cannot take away any rights from and one person. The Magna Carta
can also relate to the Declaration of Independence. The Magana Carta limited the king s power much
like the citizens limit the government s power. The government can t do much without the consent of
the people. Being able to consent is popular sovereignty. Overall, all men are equal and have ... Show

The Goal A Process Engineering Novel
I read Eliyahu M. Goldratt s novel The Goal the other night, instead of sleeping.
The book has two parts. In the first 264 pages, a manufacturing plant manager turns his failing plant
into a tremendous success. That part of the book ends with the manager s promotion to a position with
oversight over several failing plants. In the second part of the book (73 pages), the manager prepares
for his new job by trying to deduce a repeatable process of ongoing improvement. He s trying to make
sense of what happened in the first part of the book so he ll have half a chance of repeating that
success on a greater scale.
For now, I ll set aside considerations of why The Goal is a novel, how effective it is as a book,
whether it succeeds as literature, and so on. This article is primarily about the ideas behind the book,
and why some are valuable while others are probably quite useless.

The Acts of Supremacy
The first Act of Supremacy was introduced by Henry VIII in 1534 during his rule of England. Later,
when Elizabeth I came to the throne, the second Act of Supremacy was introduced to bring back the
reforms that Mary had abolished. Both of these acts have many similarities but also some fundamental
differences that helped indicate the type of ruler each monarch would be. Before discussing the
differences it is important to first understand how the Act of Supremacy came about. Little is known
about Henry s childhood because as the second born he was never intended to become King. When his
elder brother Arthur died months after his marriage to Catherine of Aragon Henry became the heir to
the throne of England. Catherine stayed in the English court after the death of her husband and was
betrothed to Henry . It was many years before the two finally married. Catherine did give birth to a
male heir but unfortunately the child did not survive . There were many more attempts for a male heir
but in the end the only surviving child of Henry and Catherine was Mary Tudor who would later
ascend to the throne in July 1553 . Because Catherine was unable to produce a surviving male heir
Henry sought to get an annulment of their marriage. The pope would not grant this and so Henry
created the Act of Supremacy declaring himself the supreme head of the Church of England in 1534.
By naming himself as the supreme head of the Church, Henry no longer needed to answer to the Pope

Legalizing Gay Adoption
Legalizing the Adoption of Children by Gay marriage
The adoption of children should be based on finding a home with loving parents. This situation should
not be judged regarding the sexual orientation. Gay marriage is now legal, the next step could be
adopting children without any restrictions whatsoever. The Christian Church and some other religions
overall see this as a wrong doing to humanity, some people believe children might grow up wanting to
be the same. Also, there are many individuals out there in the world who are straight and still mistreat
children, maybe they do not provide the care required to raise their own in a correct way. The adoption

There are plenty of disagreements in the United States about what is moral and what is immoral. Some
people believe raising children absent of religion is immoral, yet others who do not practice any
religion can adopt children and be foster parents. Why should this stop gay people from being
adoptive a child? Drinking alcohol could be consider an immoral act, but it does not stop anyone from
being evaluated as a foster parent, adoption should not be based on anybody s sexual orientation. If we
remove all the people who could be considered immoral, we will be left with almost no parents to
adopt children and provide foster care. Most of us agree that it is not right to leave children without a
home when there are plenty of qualified loving parents waiting to raise them. If heterosexual couples
can raise children, gay couples should be given the change to do so too. (J. Michael Bailey, Bobrow,

A Dream Deferred By Langston Hughes
In the poem Dream Deferred (1951) by Langston Hughes, he proposes some of the positive and
undesirable effects of putting a dream on hold, through powerful imagery. It seems he himself does
not exactly understand what happens when a dream is deferred , or he has not yet experienced it.
Through a series of questions and rhymes, he gives ideas on what an aspiration becomes when it is
forgotten or put aside to take care of other things. Each line is introduced with a question except for
the fifth line, which still begins with a maybe , showing the doubt the speaker has about this dream
that is left to the side. Every line comes with a certain amount of confusion and uncertainty. He is
uncertain of what this dream has become, what it will be, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Just like the second line in the poem, you eventually give up on this dream you have after it sits idly,
serving no purpose; it just wears away. The next line reads Does it stink like rotten meat? Or crust and
sugar over like a syrupy sweet? This time he is questioning if it eventually begins to deteriorate and
stir up a lot of issues, or perhaps it was the wrong dream and it haunts the reader. The second sentence
negates this prediction, describing it as a dream that needed to be put on hold for a specific reason, or
that other significant matters had to be taken care of before they proceeded with this aspiration; it
needed to be delayed in order for it to turn into something great, or sweet as Hughes portrays it.
Maybe it just sags like a heavy load. was the only line in the poem that did not include a question
mark, but it was still ambiguously suggested. The author proposes that the dream could become a
burden, weighing you down. The more you push the dream away, the more demanding and vexing it
becomes. This heavy load could also be viewed as a drive to follow the dream, instead of letting it
fade away. The weight pushes you to persevere and stick to this

Animal Testing And Its Effects On The Poor Treatment Of...
An increasing number of activists believe that animals have rights. However, this idea is somewhat
controversial because animal activists look down upon the poor treatment of animals. They have a fear
that animal testing is causing abuse and suffering to the helpless animals. Animal testing is a fairly
serious matter because of all of the malfunctions and harm that leads to animal suffrage. The types of
animals being used, such as rats, mice, rabbits, and chips are selected specifically for the test that is
being performed. The outcomes of the test, depends on which animal is being tested and what it is
being examined for. Common tests being used on animals include, medicine for human diseases,
cosmetic products and their reactions, and students in training utilizing animals in educational
laboratories. Many different types of species are used for testing and experimentation, but the most
common types are mice, rats, rabbits, and chimpanzees. Rodents such as rats and mice are commonly
used for testing products for many reasons, one being their frequent reproduction. Mice and rats are
mammals with nervous systems similar to our own therefore, they are tested and given cancer, tumors,

Jazz in a dance form, however, originates from the dances of Africans when they were brought to
America on slave ships. This dance form developed alongside jazz music in New Orleans in the early

improvisation to bring an energetic and entertaining experience. Jazz dance requires the foundation of
classical ballet to embody balance and agility. Jazz dance is viewed in the spotlight with movies, on
stage performances, and in urban areas of the streets and clubs. The transformation of jazz dance into

Before I can start talking about the Australian Aborigines Music, I must inform you about the rich
history of the people. For this part I watched a documentary called The First People: Aboriginal

Australians which held a lot of meaning to their culture. The music is used throughout their aboriginal

Martin Luther King I Have A Dream Speech
The dreadful day of April 4, 1968 was not only when many cities grieved the loss of one of the most
influential Americans, but also the day that the Civil Rights Movement suffered a major setback. In
his 39 years of life, Martin Luther King Jr transformed into a powerful activist for the Civil Rights
Movement. He spoke passionately as an advocate for African American civil rights and he
continuously advanced the Civil Rights Movement. One of the most prominent events that allowed the
Movement to rise and conquer was his delivery of the I Have a Dream speech on August 28, 1963
which affected more than half the country (Gregory, 43). The Civil Rights Movement had many other
activists, but King s work was so influential that he was seen as the face of the Movement. In 1963
Time magazine named King man of the year and then a year later at 35 years old he was the youngest
to ever win a Nobel Peace Prize where he then donated the about $54,000 reward to different civil
rights organizations (Manheimer, 67). He believed that the best way to achieve the goal of civil rights
was through peaceful protest and non violence which many people either resented or admired. The life
of this famous leader was cut short on the complicated day of April 4, 1968. King was shot and

John Wesley Principle
In the doctrine of John Wesley, one discovers a new objective; distinctive from Wesley s interpretation
of human depravity based upon the Reformed perception of sin, and the requirement of divine grace
for salvation. He distinguished himself from the activists and brought out the doctrine of prevenient
grace into his construction of the doctrine of redemption. Wesley abandoned the theory of election,
electing the concept of conditional election. Consequently, he fused the teaching of the total sinfulness
of a person and the importance of grace with the emphasis on human liberation, giving birth to his
doctrine of sanctification.
His aspect of sanctification derives from an operation of becoming more like Jesus in disposition and
reference. God s desire for our sanctification as a desire for love to become the constant ruling temper
of our soul. It is a process of cleansing humanity from sin. This made it possible for a person to enjoy
communion with the Father and abide in his presence. He believed genuine Christian maturity was
evidenced by actions lies behind his identification of love as the sum of Christian sanctification.
Wesley emphasized the importance of justification, and the confidence of salvation is grounded in the
righteousness of Christ. He considers the progression of sanctification as one of making the person
admirable of salvation. I am first to inquire wherein that circumcision of the heart consists which will

Disadvantages Of Steam Irons
If you love light and bright, you will be friends for a long time with the Panasonic NI E660SR. This
Panasonic model is eye catching, not really because of dashing looks, but because of its unique shape
and color combination. Like most Panasonic models, it has a U shaped design and a curved sole plate.
This design allows for pressure to be concentrated at the center of the sole plate during ironing which
allows easier movement of the iron and less tugging. The U shaped design allows steam to be evenly
distributed around the sole plate for efficiency in ironing. As for color, the Panasonic NI E660SR
comes in dazzling white with a splash of magenta .
The handle is just basic plastic, there is nothing fancy. It does not have a comfort grip like the Black
and Decker 2030 or the thumb rest and ergonomic controls of the Rowenta DW2070. It is still
manageable though perhaps because it a light iron. It is possibly one of the lightest steam irons you
will come across. Weighing a paltry 3.1 pounds, it is way lighter than the Sunbeam steam master iron
making it a suitable choice for those with arthritic arms or the elderly. Off course being light has its
own disadvantages especially when dealing with difficult creases in heavier fabrics. ... Show more

It is a versatile iron with variable steam settings that can even transform it to a dry iron if need be.
Unlike many steam iron models, the Panasonic NI E660SR comes with a retractable cord that slides
inside in an instant with the touch of a button reducing storage space. This is a feature that has
endeared it to many people who have used

Superflab, Uncooked Rice, Green Play-Dough
Results
The solid water was the control variable in the experiment and the investigators compared values that
resulted from irradiation of the solid water with each bolus average Dmax. Table 1 recorded the ratios
that resulted from these values. ANOVA calculations from the values shown in Table 1 resulted in an F
value of 762.65 and a P value of less than 0.0001. The investigator compared the results between each
individual group with a Tukey HSD test. When compared to one another, each sample resulted in a P
value less than 0.01.
Discussion
The results of this experiment support the rejection of the null hypothesis and predict there is a
difference between Superflab, uncooked rice, green Play Doh, and orange Play Dough when providing

Persuasive Essay On Effortless Driving
Surviving birth
Life in the womb was beginning to get tiring for a certain fetus. Soon to be expected was considered
too long of a wait for her. One January day, Jessica decided it was time to pop out of the womb. This
caused many complications between the girl and her mother. She was born premature and had trouble
breathing. She was kept in an intensive care unit for a couple of days. After a week, they deemed her
healthy enough to be able to go home with her parents to meet the remainder of her family.
Confidence
As little Jessica began to go to school, she was somewhat introverted. Children naturally gravitated
towards her and the girl was considered popular despite the fact that she rarely spoke. One day, she
had managed to convince her parents to allow her to join her school s cheerleading team. In cheer, she
would have to have confidence on the floor, out on the field, and in front of hundreds of people. This
forced Jessica to escape out of her shell and made her feel self assured. It was this need for confidence
that led to the girl becoming comfortable with nerve wracking tasks such as giving speeches in class
and having random conversations with strangers that she wouldn t have otherwise approached.
Effortless driving? Many years later at the age of sixteen, Jessica is ready to start learning how to
drive. Driving was always fascinating to her as a child. Now it was finally her turn to get behind the
wheel. Driving on the road was a piece of cake to her. The

  • 2. Psy 201 Week 1 Evolution Research Paper According to Ms. Witsaman, evolution is not the theory of how life began, which is a common misconception nowadays, but the theory of how life has changed over time. Theories are predictions which are backed up by several evidences and supported by scientists. The evidences that scientists use now to prove include fossils, homologous structures, analogous structures, vestigial structures, embryology, biogeography, and biochemicals. Fossils are the remains of living things that once roamed the Earth. Homologous structure are structures shared by different organisms that have similar structure but different functions. Analogous structures are the opposite, they have similar functions but completely different structure.Vestigial structures are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I have to assume that the skulls that were closest to walking on four legs lived in environments with a lot of trees and high grounds. That being said, now I have to assume that our ancestors eventually found it easier to live in long plains and migrated which made them lose the need to be efficient on all fours, thus leading to bipedalism. Conclusion: My hypothesis is was not supported since there was not a single organism that walked on four legs according to my data. I realized that just the general shape and condition of the skull didn t correlate with how old it was, but the cranial capacity was the major determining factor. Every time humans evolved the need for their mental capacity increased and that s evident in the skulls: the oldest having the smallest cranial capacity, the most recent having the largest cranial capacity. I also want to say that according to my data, our ancestors didn t all just start walking on two legs one day, but the need to walk on two legs wasn t there for a couple of our ancestors which is why some are so close to not being able to walk on two legs at all. That leads me to say that bipedalism was not dependant on when an organism was alive but where an organism was alive. As for prognathism, I also believe that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Albee and Williams Use of Virility in Their Plays Essay The sexual dominance of male characters over their female counterparts in the plays establishes their superiority and control. Both playwrights suggest that a degree of personal status is acquired by sexually dominate women. The rape scene shows Stanley s use of power sexually through rage and strength, used to illustrate his final defeat of Blanche and establish himself as King of his territory, limited to expressing basic desire . Since earliest manhood... his life has been pleasure with women... giving and taking of it... with power and pride . It is a power he can achieve over women that they cannot over him. Let s have some rough house! [He springs towards her, overturning the table. She cries out... he picks up her inert figure... ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Williams uses the men s clothing to portray power, a statement which contrasts to Blanche s delicate white clothing. [Stanley, Steve, Mitch, and Pablo wear colored shirts, solid blues, a purple, a red and white check, a light green, and they are men at the peak of their physical manhood, as coarse and direct and powerful as the primary colors.] . This description allows the image of the men to be presented as vivid and virile. Both playwrights suggest that physical and sexual dominance over women leads to an improved perception and status of men. George s power over Martha is not evident until the end of the play when he kills their child. George says, We got a telegram; there was a car accident, and he s dead. POUF! Followed by Martha s reply (A howl... weakens into a moan) NOOOOOOoooooo . By killing their son he kills the illusion which gives Martha her maternal role, and she effectively loses the battle. The experiment was conducted by cutting a UV paper into squares and labeling each one with each of the six sunscreen. A small amount of each sunscreen was applied to a square and was taken outside for three minutes to be exposed to the sun. The UV squares were taken back inside to be soaked in water for one minute each. The squares were left to dry for twenty four hours. Three trials were conducted for each sunscreen. After the twenty four hours of drying time and for the results to fully come in, immediately it was noticed that the lotions made the UV paper much lighter than the sprays. For all three trials, sunscreen number two, made the UV paper the whitest, meaning it protected the UV paper from sun exposure more. It was already hypothesized that the lotion sunscreens would protect the UV paper more as all three sunscreen lotions contained zinc oxide while none of the sprays contained this ingredient. • 14. Revenue Neutral and Enhancing Alternative Proposal for... REVENUE NEUTRAL AND ENHANCING ALTERNATIVE PROPOSAL FOR UNETHICAL TAXATION OF SALARIED INCOME 1.1 INTRODUCTION In systems governing interactions among entities, the term fair may be a reasonable description of what is ethical. For example, the prevailing view in the U.S. is that fair treatment of an indigent individual accused of a crime requires that he or she be provided legal representation in his or her interactions with the judicial system. Similarly, business related laws and regulations have ethical dimensions. Thus, while the law may generally consider a 21 year old eligible to enter into business transactions, society may deem it unethical (or unfair) for a mortgage broker to offer a loan to a native borrower who is clearly incapable of re paying the loan. As a result, lending regulations (e.g., rules limiting loans to four times a borrower s annual income) might be established to prevent a loan from occurring, even though it would otherwise be a legal transaction. In this case, the free market system would be constrained by regulations favouring the welfare of the borrower over that of the broker, primarily based on ethical considerations. Tax systems define the terms under which taxpayers interact with governments. As with other laws and regulations, such terms may be deemed either fair or unfair under a given standard. The predominant source of income for millions of U.S. taxpayers is wage, salary, or self employment income. Thus, tax policies related ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Gladwell is specific when talking about Paco. He gives a brief description of Paco and the way he feels when he interacts with Paco: Paco Underhill is a tall man in his mid forties, partly bald, with a neatly trimmed beard and an engaging, almost goofy manner (Gladwell 98). Edwards used images of fire, water, wind, clouds, spiders, and snakes in order put some fear into the hearts of his audience. The God that holds you over the pit of hell, much as one holds a spider or some loathsome insect over the fire, abhors you and is dreadfully provoked; His wrath towards you burns like fire; He looks upon you as worthy of nothing else but to be cast into the fire; He is of purer eyes than to bear to have you in His sight; you are ten thousand times more abominable in His eyes than the most hateful and venomous serpent is in ours. (McMichael Leonard, 2011, p. 162) Within this passage alone, it is evident that Edwards used nature all throughout his sermon. When explaining God s wrath, Edwards compares the wrath to water. The wrath of God is like great waters that are damned for the present, they increase more and more and more, and rise higher and higher, till an outlet is given; and the longer the stream is stopped, the more rapid and mighty is its course when once it is let loose. Whether he was using the symbol of water to show that the salvation that can come from God alone can cleanse our dirty hearts, or if he was leaning more towards the image of Noah and the Ark when God completely wiped out the entire human population. Granted, God did promise that he would never flood the earth again. Whichever image Edwards was leaning towards, his audience still got the point that he was trying to make. It is flabbergasting that the human species has not been intelligent enough to learn this lesson yet. Continuing, the current definition of evil is too relative to be the same for every human being. Consider the question, do humans have the right to do whatever they can to survive? It has imaginative changes in tempo, vocal delivery and instrumentation, and imparts a wide range of emotions ranging from pure joy, to melancholy and despair. The song takes the listener on an autobiographical journey through the turbulent 1960 s with references to the events that shaped the era. Don Mclean was enshrined in the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2004 for his work on American Pie (Don McLean: Songwriters Hall of Fame Inauguration). An allusion is a reference to a famous person, place or thing. In the first verse Mclean writes But February made me shiver with ever paper I d deliver . This allusion refers to the plane crash on February 3, 1959 that killed Buddy Holly, Richie Valens and the Big Bopper, J.P. Richardson. Another famous allusion in this song is found in the fifth verse, Mclean makes a reference to the holy trinity, he writes, And the three men I admired the most: The father, son, and the Holy Ghost, they caught the last train to the coast, the day the music died . This allusion is particularly brilliant on the part of Don Mclean, because it allows each individual person to use their imagination in order to interpret his allusion. This allusion has multiple meanings, for an example if one analysis this allusion in the context of music, Mclean was obviously referring once again to the death of Buddy Holly, Richie Valens, and the Big Bopper, J. P. Richardson. However one could also analyze this allusion in the context of the political leaders of the 1960 s and thinks that Mclean was alluding to the deaths of President John F. The previous decade brought the senseless assassination of a young, vibrant President, John Fitzgerald Kennedy. On the heels of his assassination came the assassination of his assassin, Lee Harvey Oswald; leaving America working through a series of questioning and wondering why. Later, when Elizabeth I came to the throne, the second Act of Supremacy was introduced to bring back the reforms that Mary had abolished. Both of these acts have many similarities but also some fundamental differences that helped indicate the type of ruler each monarch would be. Before discussing the differences it is important to first understand how the Act of Supremacy came about. Little is known about Henry s childhood because as the second born he was never intended to become King. When his elder brother Arthur died months after his marriage to Catherine of Aragon Henry became the heir to the throne of England. Catherine stayed in the English court after the death of her husband and was betrothed to Henry . It was many years before the two finally married. Catherine did give birth to a male heir but unfortunately the child did not survive . There were many more attempts for a male heir but in the end the only surviving child of Henry and Catherine was Mary Tudor who would later ascend to the throne in July 1553 . Because Catherine was unable to produce a surviving male heir Henry sought to get an annulment of their marriage. It seems he himself does not exactly understand what happens when a dream is deferred , or he has not yet experienced it. Through a series of questions and rhymes, he gives ideas on what an aspiration becomes when it is forgotten or put aside to take care of other things. Each line is introduced with a question except for the fifth line, which still begins with a maybe , showing the doubt the speaker has about this dream that is left to the side. The second sentence negates this prediction, describing it as a dream that needed to be put on hold for a specific reason, or that other significant matters had to be taken care of before they proceeded with this aspiration; it needed to be delayed in order for it to turn into something great, or sweet as Hughes portrays it.
