The Decision For El Salvador s Supreme Court
Throughout the semester, students have learned of the importance of the interplay amongst different
levels of actors in international relations politics. These various institutions, governments, groups, and
individuals are especially important when considering the issue of human rights. My chosen article, co
written by Elisabeth Malkin and Gene Palumbo, describes the landmark decision for El Salvador s
Supreme Court to overturn an amnesty law that protected perpetrators of human rights violations. The
ruling of the Supreme Court is based on the grounds that the amnesty is unconstitutional due to
violating international human rights laws (Malkin, Palumba). This event is particularly important
because previous governments ignored these violations that stemmed from civil unrest. The amnesty
law was established in 1992 after a civil war of more than 12 years and effectively covers all crimes
committed by both sides during the war (Dolliver, Kanavel, Robeck). However, due to its contestable
legality both domestically and internationally, El Salvador s Supreme Court decided to rule on the
amnesty s law constitutionality for the final time. This article is relevant in the context of increasing
global concern over human rights. More recent debates in international relations discuss the

move too after time. An earthquake occurs when the rocks break and move as a result stresses caused
by plate tectonics. but sometimes they get stuck at their edges due to friction. When the edges
overcome Earthquakes are the most deadly of all natural disasters. When an earthquake strikes, it can
make a difference between life and death. If you survive an earthquake it s something you ll never
forget. Most of the time it s not the quake that kills people but the building and the things inside it that

food for hunting flowed abundantly and their land was their land. Africans came from the land where
tribal dance and song were praises to the gods or just to rejoice in happiness. Though Africans also

Feminism In Sesame Street
Sesame Workshop s decision to incorporate a transgender Muppet on the show mirrors the gradual
changes that have progressively taken place within the framework of feminism. The Eastern Kentucky
University Women and Gender Studies Program defined the evolution of feminism as: Historically,
feminism has evolved from the critical examination of inequality between the sexes with a more
nuanced focus on the social and performative constructions of gender and sexuality (2017). In other
words, the feminist establishment has transformed along with time to reflect the changes in society.
Which perfectly makes sense! In order, for progress to occur, you must move along with the times,
and Sesame Street has done that. Thus, the show will continue to positively influence hundreds of
American youth because they know that social evolution is the key to success!
Similarly, Sesame Street touches on the complexities surrounding race. Segi is a black, female Muppet
who made her debut in Season 42. This progression can be viewed as positive as it was a racially
diversifying move. However, the character was not given a name until Season 45 (Muppet Wiki 2017).
Therefore, I find the addition of the character to be an important aspect supporting racial equality, but
the fact that she remained unnamed for three seasons seems to be rather counterproductive.
Eventually, Sesame Workshop named Segi after Joey Mazzarino s adopted daughter, for whom
Mazzarino wrote: I Love My Hair (Muppet Wiki 2017).

The Role Of Traditional Household Gender Roles
Gender relations are not confined to the domestic arena although households constitute an important
institutional site on which gender relations are played out but are made, remade and contested in a
range of institutional arenas (Changing Gender Relations In The Household). In parallel to this
statement, women and men have always had their own perceive norm within the household. Women
are traditionally homemakers and men assume the sole status of breadwinner. However, in modern day
society men are becoming more open to the idea of gender equality in regards to family roles. Mothers
and society are socializing individuals with this norm. Currently, there is a gradual transition from a
male dominant society to gender equality. This paper will look at the impact of traditional household
gender roles by analyzing the following questions:
1. Why is there a gender shift in household gender roles?
2. What is the impact of balancing work and a family?
3. What are the benefits for the family?
4. Is gender equality within a family positively affecting society?
By understanding how this change has come about, predictions can be made to determine how this
will impact the future, to see if this will change situations outside of the home that are gender
sensitive, and to see if this will give a people a broader perspective to work with.
