However, by the late 1980s and early 1990s, behavioral researchers like Paul Salkovskis and Jack
Rachman were advocating a more integrative theory and treatment of OCD, an approach that
amalgamated the behavioral treatment of OCD with Beck s (1976) cognitive theory of emotional
disorders. From these two theoretical perspectives on clinical disorders, a new cognitive behavioral
approach to obsessions and compulsions was born. In many respects, my own professional
development has taken a path similar to that seen in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) for
obsessional states. My roots are in the behavioral tradition, dating back to the early 1980s when I was
a graduate student at the Institute of Psychiatry in London, England. My interest in OCD and
unwanted intrusive thoughts was sparked by the stimulating discussions and innovative research of the
clinical faculty, most notably Jack Rachman and Padmal de Silva. My doctoral thesis on the
psychophysiology of mental control and unwanted intrusive thoughts was an outgrowth of their
insights into the pathology of obsessional thought. vii viii Preface In the late 1980s, I was introduced
to the cognitive perspective on clinical disorders by Aaron T. Beck. I was privileged to spend a few
months at the Center for Cognitive Therapy in Philadelphia, where I received training in Beck s
therapy approach. Over the last 15 years I have

St. Cyril Of Jerusalem
St. Cyril of Jerusalem was born in 315 A.D. and that he was brought up in Jerusalem. Cyril s life
began a few years before Arianism and he lived to see its abolishment and denunciation at the end of
his life. He was the victim of many of the struggles that was in his life. His family were most likely
Christians and he seemed to care a lot about them. He honored parents for however much we may
repay them, yet we can never be to them what they as parents have been to us. He also had a sister and
a nephew, Gelasius, who had became a saint and a bishop. St. Cyril being ordained a deacon and then
a priest, bishop St. Maximus admiration him to put him in charge of the instruction of catechumens.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Glass Fibre Reinforced...
Chapter 1
INTRODUCTION
1.1 INTRODUCTION Composite materials are defined as the combination of more than two
materials, one of the material is called reinforcement material and another one of the material is called
matrix, the reinforcement materials in the form of fiber particle, ex; glass fiber for natural fiber,
coconut shell powder matrix material and in the form of resin ex: phenyl formaldehyde or epoxy, urea
formaldehyde and so on.
Glass fiber reinforced polymers are fiber reinforced polymers, made up of plastic matrix reinforced by
fiber of glass. Glass fiber is light in weight and very strong, it is commonly used in different industries
for its excellent properties. Nowadays, the fiber reinforced ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

For example, on a weight for weight basis, graphite/epoxy composites are nearly five times stronger
than steel. The reasons being why they are the most common composites include their lower cost,
higher strength, and simpler manufacturing principles.
Classification of Polymer Composites
 Thermo set polymers: The chains in thermo set polymers are rigidly joined with strong covalent
bonds, they are insoluble and infusible after cure.
 Thermoplastics: are formed at high pressure and temperatures because the bonds are weak in
polyesters, phenolics, and polyamides. Ideal examples of thermoplastics are polyethylene,
polystyrene, polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) and polyether ether ketone (PEEK). Thermo plastic resins
are used as molding components. The advantage of thermoplastic is no chemical reaction involved
there is some reason to increase the heat resistance in thermo plastic one is addition of filler material.
Thermoplastic changes it properties during the heating after regain it properties during cooling.

Central Park Five Essay
The movie The Central Park Five was a documentary film. It is talking about five young men were
involved in a rape case. One white woman was raped and left for dead in the central park in 1989.
Police officers arrested five fifteen years old suspects. The government did not have enough evidence
to judge these five black men and Latino Americans; however, because of the racial discrimination,
the justices judged them as guilty and sentenced them to jail about 9 to 15 years. After few months,
Matias Reyes confessed to the rape case and the lab test also showed that the sperm was matched. The
five teenagers were released after the suspect confessed his crime. Directors of the movie, Ken Burns,
Sarah Burns, and David Mcmahon, used ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That black man was angry, but there was nothing he could do, so he kept jogging and left. From this
example, we can see that the inequlity not only happened in the past, but also happened in the present.
Racism was a big problem during the 18 and 19 s century. White people always thought that they were
at the higher level in the society and they treated black harshly. They could trade them in the markets.
They also thought the deserved to have better life, better education, better house, etc. Why this
happened? The government was the chief culprit. The government educated white people that they
were above the blacks. Because of that, they taught their children in the same idea. Luckily, the
growing number of people realized that it was unfair and they tried to make the government treated
everyone equally. More than that, the government laid down the law of protecting all of the colored
people; however, even the laws passed, the racism still happens today. Black people were classified as
robbers, murders, or thieves and a lot of people judge them with this category.
All in all, racism should not happened in this present day, and it is terrible if that happened; however,
as we could see, America has went through this by having a black president today. Since that, America
is trying to tell that everyone is equal and has the same rights, no matter where they came from, what
color of their skin, and what races they belong

Rhetorical Analysis Of Apollo 11
The worldwide attention brought about by the success of the Apollo 11 moon landing was used by
many speakers and writers to push forward their own agenda or opinions using a variety of rhetorical
appeals and strategies. The texts, Man s First Step on the Moon , a news article by the Times of
London, In Event of Moon Disaster , a prepared speech to be spoken by President Nixon written by
William Safire, The July 16, 1969, Launch: A Symbol of Man s Greatness , a commentary by
philosopher Ayn Rand, and Transported , a political cartoon by Herblock, were all made in occasion of
the Apollo 11 mission and directed toward the viewers worldwide but each with a different purpose
and rhetorical appeal. Each of the four texts create an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is done by establishing shared values between the speaker and audience and strong uses of
pathos. Despite this speech being written by William Safire, it was to be spoken by President Nixon to
establish automatic credibility due to him being the leader of the United States, one of the most
powerful countries. This use of ethos strengthens the argument of persevering through this difficulty
since the persona of the speaker is that of a compassionate, but stern figure that is meant to serve as
inspiration as to how the audience should act. In addition, the persona works in conjunction with
pathos to evoke strong emotions of sympathy and nationalism. This is seen in the third paragraph
where the phrase, They will be mourned.. is used as an anastrophe to greater emphasize the need to
remember and feel sorrow for the brave astronauts who gave their lives to further humanity. Their
sacrifice is later built further in the following paragraphs by comparing their achievements to those of
ancient times and how they ll never be forgotten. Safire s speech utilizes the automatic credibility
given by the president and emphasizes key points using rhetorical devices to establish shared values in
order to further evoke sympathy and later patriotism from the audience. Third, the commentary, The

Repercussions Of Constructivism And The Definition Of...
Terrorism appears to have soared markedly in the past few years. To begin, it seems appropriate to
define the term terrorism itself first. The absolute definition of terrorism has been greatly debated
globally but it seems like no political institutions or prominent figures have ever come to one clear cut
definition but the term terrorism itself is simply derived from the word terror which indicates terrorism
has something to do with fear and agitation. With innumerable technological advancements, terrorists
have now been able to strike more efficient and harder than ever which will result in more deaths and
also more destructions. Political and religious terrorism or sometimes called extremism are no longer a
new thing to us anymore that it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This heated issue has been in numerous political discourses at which leaders at all levels from every
corner of the world are putting forth their utmost effort to seek for ways in order to put a halt to this
never ending terror. Throughout this essay, I would like to address terrorism in the lens of
constructivism as it provides the most accurate end to end explanation for it. I would like to put
perspicuous emphases on how terrorism itself is a social construct, how clashes of identity between
actors contribute to terrorism and how norms shape the behavior of the actors.
Terrorism is an objective reality and a subjective interpretation (Karaffa 2012: 3). Via this quote, we
can infer that terrorism, in the eyes of constructivists, is a social construct. Berger and Luckman
(1966: 76) suggest that an individual constructs reality on every level which begins with self; in face
to face interactions; in small and huge group; with their own cultures and other cultures. Turk puts an
emphasis that terrorism does not come into

The Shack Reflection
Life can be a complicated and messy world, but knowing that we have someone in our presence(God),
allows us to fit into this world and know that we are loved. The movie Shack focuses on the beauty of
our relationship with God and in our growth with him. When we lose someone, who is close to us, it is
hard to lose our relationship with God. We simply want to punish him for taking away our loved one
and lose our devotion to him. Losing sight and track of who you are is a common sign of going into
complete darkness in your relationship with God. This movie is a beautiful representation of
improving your relationship with the one who truly matters in your life. I believe you should watch
The Shack because it will show you the struggles the main character, Mack, faces in his relationship
with God and how to turn it all around.
The Shack is about a man, Mack Phillips, who comes face to face with the unknown. He suffers a
tragedy, nothing he thought would ever happen to him. His past relationship as a child was abusive,
not the usual loving and caring and dreamy family style. He grows out of his past relationship and
marries into a loving and Christian family. He and his two daughters and son go on a camping trip
where they will have to face the big ugly past. At this camping trip, Mack s five year old daughter is
kidnapped and killed by an unknown man. After this event, Mack s relationship with God goes down
the burner; but one day his life changes for the better. He is sent

Reading Volume Is Central Of The World
According to Allington (2014), though reading volume is central to the development of reading
proficiencies, typical commercial core reading programs tend to provide material to engage students in
only 15 minutes of reading each day. With the remaining 75 minutes allocated to completing
workbook pages and answering lower level comprehension questions, many students receive very
little time to engage in reading. Cunningham (2005) reminds us that as early as 1977, Richard
Allington pleaded, If they don t read much, how they ever gonna get good (p.1). Reading volume is
defined as the time students spend reading in addition to the number of words they consume as they
read (Allington, 2012). This combination impacts all aspects of students cognitive abilities, ranging
from vocabulary development as well as knowledge of the world (Cunningham Zibulsky, 2013). In
one of the most extensive studies of independent reading, Anderson, Wilson, and Fielding (1988)
connected reading growth to the time students spent reading outside of school. They found that
independent time spent reading was the best predictor of reading achievement. In this study, the
researchers determined that fifth grade students that read forty minutes per day scored in the 90th
percentile on standardized tests. Simply put, those who read more than an hour outside of school
outperform their lower achieving peers. Not only has independent reading been found to have
profound affects on student achievement, but

William Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet” was by far the...
William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet was by far the most well known classical piece of romance
literature in the world, a powerful tragedy drama. In decades it has been adapted into movies by
directors from all sorts of language backgrounds. Among those, two of them are definitely the most
successful and famous adaptations the muchly appreciated classical Franco Zeffirelli s 1968 version
and the modern version directed by Baz Luhrmann in 1996 was although controversial, it portrayed
the purest and unstoppable love in a turbulent society by using creative, jazzy elements that was
stylishly edited in a modern way. Both of the 1968 and 1996 films have clarified the setting right at
the start of the film 13th century (the medieval ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Costumes in both of the films show the cheerfulness of the occasion, however, the costume in the first
film is more classical while the costume choice of the second film is full of creativity and
demonstrated energy and intrigue to the audiences. Other than that, the main character Romeo and
Juliet s costumes are carefully chosen and have symbolic meanings in them Romeo wears a knight
costume for his soul of lead , while Juliet wears an angel costume, intimating her innocence and pure
soul at that time. From details like this it is found that in the 1996 film, more meaningful additions
were added for more drama and emotions, and also the thoroughness of the progress of plot. The use
of lighting does play an important role in the films though have not resulted on as big effect as the
props and clothing. The lighting makes the effect to apply colours to the atmosphere, e.g. In the 1968
film, daylight is largely used to create the dusty and exposing feeling in the town and classical
Hollywood lighting plus the usage of candles and torches creates a traditional, aged feeling; while in
the 1996 film, coloured lights and spotlights are used to add provide an interesting perspective of the
scene. What the lighting

The Empire Strikes Back
I am currently a Film Production MFA student at Full Sail University. As a child I went to see The
Empire Strikes Back when it was first released. I was in such awe of the film that I knew I wanted to
make movies myself. Irvin Kirschner s name became more important to me as I got older. He once
said, I want films to haunt an audience, to give them something to remember and be able to talk about.
It is with this intention that I want to create films.
As my knowledge of filmmaking started to grow, I began learning about story plots and character
development. Sam Mendes reboot of Ian Fleming s James Bond franchise in my eyes was one of the
best story plot developments. Sam Mendes was able to give the James Bond franchise what it had
been missing: a plot. From Casino Royal, Mendes started to breathe new life into James Bond by
having him confront emotions of dealing with love and loss. With Quantum of Solace, Bond was
learning to get over the loss ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite the extreme pressure, he was able to get an Academy nominated performance from Denzel
Washington. The vision I would have had for Malcolm X would have been one of realism and
expressionism by showing internal battles with the Nation of Islam and learning the truth about
Muslims from around the world. There are three chapters that are missing from the real biography of
Malcom X, and I would explore that world where Alex Haley was an informant of the FBI. I would
shoot this movie as a docudrama, playing with not only colors, but also shooting in black and white.
This is also where I would explore his history from the foster homes that he grew up in, the loss of his
mother, and his other siblings. His story is much deeper than anyone of this generation would ever
realize, and I would bridge that gap through a new film

The Basilica Of The Assumption Of Our Lady Of Valencia
Art, the way that many cultures have expressed their ideals and culture through out time. Many artists
from multiple cultures have arisen and created masterpieces of art: Everything from paintings, to
massive architecture, and statues. The massive piece of art I will be focusing on today will be the
Basilica of the Assumption of our Lady of Valencia or The Valencia Cathedral for short. This massive
architecture shows a compelling example of Gothic art during this era.
The cathedral first came to be after the Christian s re conquered Valencia back from the Arab
communities, who had conquered it from the Spaniards in 723 C.E. While under the Moors (Arab
Empire) control the old church that stood there became a mosque. After the Spanish acquired Valencia
back, the bishop of Valencia ruled the mosque was to be replaced for a Basilica. This was to
strengthen the support for the Christian religion and to recruit more people to the church. This effort
was made to rekindle and bring piece of mind to the people in the region who stayed while the Moors
soldiers ruled. So in 1238 C.E. the Valencia Cathedral was born. As gothic style of art swept Europe,
the pope at the time decided to adopt this style of art. As the book Art: A Brief History states, By the
middle thirteenth century builders had thoroughly mastered the design principles and building
technology of Gothic architecture and began to focus attention on elaborating and refining the visual
elements of the style.

Blood Transfusion Is A Crucial Part Of Health Care Systems
Blood transfusion is a crucial part of health care systems all around the world and contributes to
saving lives of millions in both routine and emergency settings. With the advancements in Clinical
Medicine, the need for this life saving fluid is rising. The annual blood collection across the world is
over 88 million units of blood for a world population of 6,910 million requiring 150 million units (1).
The availability of safe blood is dependent on the human blood volunteers. While volunteer blood
donation (VBD) is believed to be the cornerstone of the safe blood transfusion services (BTS) (2).
There is a huge disparity regarding the collection of blood via donation between high income and low

WHO quoted that almost five women die every hour in India due to insufficient blood transfusion
after obstetric hemorrhage (7) and the condition of rural India is even worse. This article is drafted to
present the current status of blood donation and transfusion in India through the eyes of a young
Indian physician.
Blood donation in India started in 1942 during the 2nd world war. It was aimed to help wounded
soldiers. In 1954, a social reformer initiated voluntary blood donation camps. The next milestone was
the declaration of October 1 as the Blood Donation Day in 1975. But this was followed by a major
setback in 1980 with the emergence of AIDS. This created a fearful environment amongst the general
population towards donating blood and receiving transfusion due to the risk of getting infected. Even
after almost 4 decades of development of various techniques for obtaining blood via closed collection
system in a sterile environment and screening for various transfusion transmitted infections (TTI), the
fear of contracting some sort of infection is persistent. This misconception has been one of the major
roadblocks to building a strong base for VBD.
According to the WHO, nearly 38% of voluntary blood donations are by people under the age of
25(8). India is home to the largest number of young population, yet only one percent of eligible donors
donate blood. Bharatwaj et al studied

The Quest For Peace And Justice
When people think of speeches, they usually refer to important people talking about important topics.
The idea of importance often differs time to time ranging from Abortions to Gun Laws. Martin Luther
King, JR. is one of those important figures, as he led a variety of peaceful protests from the boycott
for Rosa Parks to demonstrations in Birmingham in the fight for Civil Rights. Not to mention, he led
the nonwhites in a peaceful resistance of nonviolence against unfair racial views. Out of all of his
speeches, one unique one which stands out is The Quest for Peace and Justice. It shows the concept
where mankind has still not matured enough to where each person of differing race is able to live next
to each other peacefully. Unless mankind can get past the walls of racial injustice, ignorance of
poverty, and the true evil of war, then the battle against racial prejudice will end in the worst scenario
possible. Mankind already has the ability to solve all of its obstacles by uniting together as a family
connected by love and god. In fact, there are two other speeches comparable in terms of influence and
emotion. The most commonly known I Have a Dream speech on August 28th, 1963 and A Time to
Break Silence as King believes the people must see the war from the perspective of the Vietnamese as
a peaceful approach is the best approach. Of course, The Quest for Peace and Justice is inferior to
those two simply because it is overloading on information, unclear, and unheard

The Industrial Age And The Information Age
Humanity has been through so many types of ages and each one has had some form of impact on us.
Some of the impact has been on education others have impacted the quality of life. Either way,
education is something that has been around since the start of time. Although, it was different during
different time periods, it has always been a part of human history in one way or another. The Pre
Industrial Age, the Industrial Age, and the Information Age all had different effect on mankind s
intellectual, social, and economic development. Technology has advanced education in many ways in
our current time and has improved our lives overall. The Pre Industrial age, before the mid 1700 s,
was mostly an agricultural time. Knowledge was typically kept for those who had power or money.
The education that was available was given by the religious organizations and provided very limited
subjects to be studied. The majority of the population, during this age was uneducated and illiterate.
There was local markets and local trading. Mass production of products did not exist during this time (
Local Enterprise : The Pre Industrial Era ). The main goal of life, for most of the world, during this
time was just basic survival. The quality of life was very low and the life expectancy was low as well.
High death rates were due to war, poverty, poor hygiene, and plague; this especially affected the
young people. For example, in the 1600 s about twenty five percent of children in Europe died

point Custer realized that the Indians weren t running away, in fact, they intend to kill him. Although,
Custer knew that he had entered the valley of death, but he kept fighting, but he enjoyed himself till
his last breathe. For Custer s men s were so exhausted after that long journey they were barely in the
position to stand, they had only tiredness, horror, and death. As for Maj. Reno he could have charged

The Decision For El Salvador s Supreme Court
Throughout the semester, students have learned of the importance of the interplay amongst different
levels of actors in international relations politics. These various institutions, governments, groups, and
individuals are especially important when considering the issue of human rights. My chosen article, co
written by Elisabeth Malkin and Gene Palumbo, describes the landmark decision for El Salvador s
Supreme Court to overturn an amnesty law that protected perpetrators of human rights violations. The
ruling of the Supreme Court is based on the grounds that the amnesty is unconstitutional due to
violating international human rights laws (Malkin, Palumba). This event is particularly important
because previous governments ignored these violations that stemmed from civil unrest. The amnesty
law was established in 1992 after a civil war of more than 12 years and effectively covers all crimes
committed by both sides during the war (Dolliver, Kanavel, Robeck). However, due to its contestable
legality both domestically and internationally, El Salvador s Supreme Court decided to rule on the

The View Of Health Care Systems
Discussion and Conclusion
My study illuminates the need to reconceptualise the notion of health care systems in Ghana. The dual
approach of conceptualizing the Ghanaian health care system ignores realities on the ground. The dual
approach as oppose to the triple systems approach, downplays the essence of self care as a health care
seeking option for many Ghanaians (). Findings of this study reveals a prevalence use of self care are
health management option for most of the informants. Self care as a treatment option involves the use
of both biomedical and indigenous medical resources. Although self care is mostly employed for acute
health conditions, it is also employed in the management of chronic ailment. In the latter case, the

Dalinjong and Laar (2012), observed their study the NHIS promoted access to biomedical care
services for insured residents in their study areas. This observation is further corroborated by Tawiah
et al., (2016) who attribute improved access for insured persons to the reduced financial burden of
seeking professional biomedical care. Contrarily, such financial cushion for professional care is not
available for professional indigenous care which is increasingly becoming market oriented or
commercialised. Invariably patrons of this form of care mainly resort to direct out of pocket payments.
Findings of this study shows that the financial burden associated with seeking professional indigenous
care is a major deterrent for most informants interviewed. This finding challenges the belief that
indigenous medicine in Ghana are easily accessible and affordable (Gyasi et al. 2011; Ae Ngibise et al.
2010; Nsereko et al. 2011; Renckens and Dorlo 2013) compared to biomedicine. Thus, the notion of
affordability of indigenous medicine needs be critically re examined in the context of the level of
usage and the disease or health condition under consideration. The use of the triple health care system
model as employed in this study helps different the levels of usage for biomedical and indigenous
remedies, hence distinguishing between professional and

Technology and Communication Paper
Technology has affected all aspects of life and the criminal justice system is no exception. There are
so many ways where technology has been incorporated in the criminal justice and police departments
that I really do not know where to start. The invention of the lie detector test was huge in my opinion.
It can be given in the criminal justice system to try to get to the bottom of the truth. In police
departments you have the use of closed circuit televisions for property security, cameras in police
units, tape recorders used in police units and when conducting investigations and so forth.
In my opinion technological advancements enhance the effectiveness of communication. Let s take

In my opinion this is an excellent technological advancement that saves time and improves accuracy.
Facial recognition technology makes use of unalterable features of a face, such as the distance
between the centers of the pupils of the eye. It then uses an algorithm, a finite set of steps for solving a
problem, which converts the image to numbers . Weiss, Davis (2004)
Live scan is a fingerprint system that can be used in the criminal justice system and also for non
criminal justice use. Most law enforcement departments require all officers to be fingerprinted using
live scan technology. Once an officer is fingerprinted, his or her records are sent into varies databases.
The officers are required to be free of a criminal background so the prints are checks for previous
crimes. The prints are then sent to Sacramento (California) to various departments for processing such
as BSIC which is the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services. Because live scan is inkless it
saves paper and time because it s electronic which is better for the environment and more convenient
for law enforcement agencies. When a criminal is arrested his or her fingerprints are taken with the
live scan system and cross referenced for a match in a number of systems including the FBI. If there is
a match then the information is sent to the police department which includes the suspect s weight,
height, sex, and date of birth.

Electronegativity Lab
Problem: How does the electronegativity of 1.25 mol/L of hydrochloric acid, 1.25 mol/L of sulphuric
acid, and 1.25 mol/L of nitric acid, affect the rate at which magnesium will react at room
temperature(21°C)?
Background:
A chemical reaction is the rate at which a substance goes through a change and it is transformed into
another substance that has different compositions as well as properties.1 The rate at which a chemical
reaction occurs depends on many factors, some of which include the concentration of a reactant2,
temperature2, collision theory and electronegativity3.
Concentration of a reactant effects the rate of reactivity. An increase in concentration means that there

1.25 mol/L of hydrochloric acid, 1.25 mol/L of sulphuric acid, and 1.25 mol/L of nitric acid are being
used because they are obtainable acids that range in electronegativity, which will help satisfy the
purpose of the lab. Magnesium metal is being used because it has an electronegativity that is different
from all acids and it reacts fairly well with all acids in a reasonable amount of time, therefore the
experiment can be better executed. The experiment will be done at room temperature of 21°C to
ensure that the temperature is not speeding up or slowing down the reaction, as well as saving time
and providing more accuracy.
Chemical reactivity and its rate of reactivity is important as is can be applied in life. For example in
medicine, different elements are mixed in a controlled environment to form medicines that are useful
for the treatment of diseases. Also in the production of weapons such as guns and bombs, it is required
for chemicals to react extremely vigorously to make the explosion go off and have the desired effect.6

Essay on Paradise by Toni Morrison
Paradise by Toni Morrison
Nine patriarchs found a town. Four women flee a life. Only one paradise is attained. Toni Morrison s
novel Paradise revolves around the concept of paradise, and those who believe they have it and those
who actually do. Morrison uses a town and a former convent, each with its own religious center, to tell
her tale about finding solace in an oppressive world. Whether fleeing inter and intra racial conflict or
emotional hurt, the characters travel a path of self isolation and eventual redemption. In her novel
Paradise, Toni Morrison uses the town of Ruby and four broken women to demonstrate how paradise
can not be achieved through isolation, but rather only through understanding and acceptance. ... Show

The citizens begin to associate with the outside world that had once despised them, and they became
eager to get away and try someplace else (6). The town of Haven had gone from feet to belly in fifty
years (5) and because of this the New Fathers decide to dismantle the Oven and relocate. The New
Fathers sought to keep the dream of a paradise alive because they knew what they might become if
they did not begin anew (6). Fifteen families pack their bags and leave to found the town of Ruby, a
town isolated by ninety miles from anything.
Just like its predecessor, Ruby is founded on the concept that isolation equals protection. The citizens
view Ruby as a fortress [they] bought and built up and [which they had] to keep everybody locked in
or out (213). It is a town where outsider and enemy are . . . two words [that] mean the same thing

herding a flock which [believes] not only that it [has] created the pasture it [grazes] but that grass from

Seeing a child who is overweight may not seem like a big concern to some, but the future
consequences can be deadly. Archives of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine state that, children and
adolescents who are obese are likely to be obese as adults and are therefore more at risk for adult
health problems such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, stroke, several types of cancer, and
osteoarthritis. Children who are obese are more likely to grow up to be obese as adults resulting in
long term health effects (3). It seems the rise of obesity is going to be a great concern for healthcare
professionals in the future. These statistics provide the obvious clue to the pattern of an uphill run of
childhood obesity without a break in sight. This condition is a solemn concern, yet thankfully it can be
simply understood and managed. Understanding obesity is as simple as basic addition. Being
overweight or obese is result of a caloric imbalance. This occurs when there are too many calories

Essay about The Road to the American Civil War
The majority of speculations regarding the causes of the American Civil War are in some relation to
slavery. While slavery was a factor in the disagreements that led to the Civil War, it was not the
solitary or primary cause. There were three other, larger causes that contributed more directly to the
beginning of the secession of the southern states and, eventually, the start of the war. Those three
causes included economic and social divergence amongst the North and South, state versus national
rights, and the Supreme Court s ruling in the Dred Scott case. Each of these causes involved slavery in
some way, but were not exclusively based upon slavery. The North and South were forming

The South had some urbanization, in cities such as Atlanta, Georgia and Columbia, South Carolina.
These cities served as transportation hubs, mainly for the transporting of goods, specifically cotton.
The South would transport cotton to the northern industries to produce finished goods from the cotton.
The transportation hubs and railroad systems existed more often in the North than in the South,
because there were more large cities. Due to the North and South existing with completely diverse
demographics, geographies, and economies they were unable to understand the needs of one another
in reference to the continuation of their thriving economies. With the North becoming more urbanized
and based on industry, its power was also growing. The bulk of politics, transportation, and industry
all existed in the North. The South began forming an opinion that new political decisions were being
made in the North s favor, and threatening the expansion of slavery, which threatened the expansion of
their economic growth. This began with the formation of Henry Clay s Missouri Compromise of 1820,
which let Missouri come into the Union as a slave state, and Maine would come in as a free state. This
established a clear separation, at the southern border of Missouri, between the slave and free states,

The black panther lives in Asian, African, and American countries. It is commonly found in forests
and swamps that have a large source of prey such as deer and rabbits. Black panthers are very good at
adapting to their environment, unlike other cats or felines.
Another amazing feature of a black panther is that it is considered as one of the strongest climbers in

Timothy Findley s The Wars

family and friends that suffer from loss and insanity. As each character over the progression of the
story is exposed to change, the character s ability to adapt has a significant correlation with their
survival, those that can quickly adapt to survive can manage to get by. Soldiers must be able to
suppress the extreme stress on the battlefield. Those that cannot overcome these challenges do not
survive in war. Murder is quickly pushed out of a soldiers mind, killing others in effort to protect their

Ross s seclusion from the rest of her family. Findley writes, All she wanted was to sit in the corner of
the room and watch the door for Robert s return (Findley 69). Findley depicts the effects on everyone
in society, such as how a parent loses their child to war, and how society conforms to the changes of
war.
War is constant in human history. War is a continually reoccurring conflict over time. It spans different
locations over varying different circumstances, whereas the effects of war remain the same. Insanity,
madness, loss of innocence, seclusion, anguish, violence, and decreasing mental health are all by
products of war. Findley accurately depicts these cases through the use of his many characters. Robert
s exposure to violence leaves him in a fragile state. His behaviour can be seen as increasingly violent
and shows his decreasing mental health. This declining mental health may be due to his lack of sleep.
Sleep was dangerous. No matter what your mind said, your body doesn t listen. Part of you always
stayed awake. Nobody dreams on a battlefield. There isn t any sleep that long (Findley 93).

Contract Formation
Part A Contracts are an integral part of business and everyday life, and are fundamental to construction
as the industry relies on the formation of contracts for business agreements. Contracts are based on the
idea of a bargain, where each side must put something into the bargain. A contract may be defined as
an agreement which is binding on the parties (Galbraith, 1998, pg78). There are a number of key
components which must be present in the formation of such contracts. Firstly, there needs to be an
initial offer made by one party for the formation to begin. An offer exists when one party effectively
declares his readiness to be bound by a set of terms without any further negotiation (Galbraith, 1998,

the amount of pay which could be the same as that paid on a prior occasion . One particular problem
in construction is the letter of intent , widely used between employers and contractors as a form of pre
contract agreement. Following on from the tendering negotiations, Adriaanse (2010, pg55) writes the
purpose of a letter of intent is to express an intention to enter into a contract at a future date . These are
the result of failing to negotiate on certain terms in time for the project start date, and are introduced to
allow the commencement of work, keeping within the projects completion target. As these are often
not legally binding contracts they cause disputes in the future if one of the parties does not carry out
their duties, as in British Steel Corporation v. Cleveland Bridge Engineering Co. Ltd (1981). Owen (
1998, pg50) writes that all simple contracts must have consideration given by each party to the other
as the price of each other s promises. It may take the form of money, goods, services, promises not to
sue etc. For example party A must receive something from party B, in return for party A providing
something to party B. However McKendrick (2007, pg88) states that consideration must be sufficient
but does not need to be adequate , meaning for example something must be offered to the other party
in return to satisfy the rules of consideration, but does not need to be of an equal value as

John Steinbeck s Cannery Row
Cannery Row by John Steinbeck is a social experiment, a character study, a story of successes and
failures, and a work of unadulterated art. Steinbeck s purpose is to illustrate life in all its complexities

demonstrating how even the most down on their luck of communities can become a paradigm of
contentment. In order to present his findings on life s intricacies, he utilizes an exquisite partnership of

They are somewhat vulgar and they use improper grammar and abbreviate the pronunciation of certain
words. A prime example of this is the conversation the boys have while out catching frogs for Doc.
Mac is thinking about the idea of giving a gift to Doc and says But s pose we give him something
except whiskey, maybe cufflinks with his initials [to which Hazel responds] Oh, horseshit...Doc don t

They use s pose instead of suppose, except instead of other than or besides, vulgar expressions instead
of tame ones, and don t instead of doesn t. This helps to illustrate the complex nature of humans and
their relationships. While Doc generally speaks proper English, the bums have a rough manner of

human complexities and thus captures life s complexities. The microscopic differences in the way

An Example Of Small Business In The Walt Disney Company
People wonder all the time how companies started out and how they got so successful? An example of
a person who has helped successful people get off their feet. James Dill, the founder of CT, allegedly
is the person that laid down the foundation for the incorporation law ( CT Sponsors 2015 Small

CT Corporation offered a convention like event about recognizing small business and their
contributions to America. These conventions date back to 1963 ( CT Sponsors 2015 Small Business

fearlessness, and passion.
This skill is something everybody needs if success is wanted; that skill would be persistence.
Persistence is a good skill to have because it means having a will to continue an action even when

Research Paper On Earthquake
Natural Disasters Research Project Earthquake: San Francisco, California
Earthquake An earthquake is caused by a sudden slip on a fault. We know that tectonic plates move
slowly towards, away from or past each other. Continents are parts of these plates which means they
move too after time. An earthquake occurs when the rocks break and move as a result stresses caused
by plate tectonics. but sometimes they get stuck at their edges due to friction. When the edges
overcome Earthquakes are the most deadly of all natural disasters. When an earthquake strikes, it can
make a difference between life and death. If you survive an earthquake it s something you ll never

fall down. It can destroy pipelines, gas lines that can cause fire and zero electricity. Usually there are
aftershocks for weeks or months. For example, the earthquake that happened in San Francisco,
California on October 17,1989. It was a really destructive earthquake that killed people and billions of

Feminism In Sesame Street
Sesame Workshop s decision to incorporate a transgender Muppet on the show mirrors the gradual
changes that have progressively taken place within the framework of feminism. The Eastern Kentucky
University Women and Gender Studies Program defined the evolution of feminism as: Historically,
feminism has evolved from the critical examination of inequality between the sexes with a more
nuanced focus on the social and performative constructions of gender and sexuality (2017). In other
words, the feminist establishment has transformed along with time to reflect the changes in society.
Which perfectly makes sense! In order, for progress to occur, you must move along with the times,
and Sesame Street has done that. Thus, the show will continue to positively influence hundreds of
American youth because they know that social evolution is the key to success!
Similarly, Sesame Street touches on the complexities surrounding race. Segi is a black, female Muppet
who made her debut in Season 42. This progression can be viewed as positive as it was a racially
diversifying move. However, the character was not given a name until Season 45 (Muppet Wiki 2017).
Therefore, I find the addition of the character to be an important aspect supporting racial equality, but
the fact that she remained unnamed for three seasons seems to be rather counterproductive.
Eventually, Sesame Workshop named Segi after Joey Mazzarino s adopted daughter, for whom
Mazzarino wrote: I Love My Hair (Muppet Wiki 2017).

The Role Of Traditional Household Gender Roles
Gender relations are not confined to the domestic arena although households constitute an important
institutional site on which gender relations are played out but are made, remade and contested in a
range of institutional arenas (Changing Gender Relations In The Household). In parallel to this
statement, women and men have always had their own perceive norm within the household. Women
are traditionally homemakers and men assume the sole status of breadwinner. However, in modern day
society men are becoming more open to the idea of gender equality in regards to family roles. Mothers
and society are socializing individuals with this norm. Currently, there is a gradual transition from a
male dominant society to gender equality. This paper will look at the impact of traditional household
gender roles by analyzing the following questions:
1. Why is there a gender shift in household gender roles?
2. What is the impact of balancing work and a family?
3. What are the benefits for the family?
4. Is gender equality within a family positively affecting society?
By understanding how this change has come about, predictions can be made to determine how this
will impact the future, to see if this will change situations outside of the home that are gender
sensitive, and to see if this will give a people a broader perspective to work with.
Why is there a gender shift in household gender roles?

However, by the late 1980s and early 1990s, behavioral researchers like Paul Salkovskis and Jack Rachman were advocating a more integrative theory and treatment of OCD, an approach that amalgamated the behavioral treatment of OCD with Beck s (1976) cognitive theory of emotional disorders. From these two theoretical perspectives on clinical disorders, a new cognitive behavioral approach to obsessions and compulsions was born. In many respects, my own professional development has taken a path similar to that seen in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) for obsessional states. My roots are in the behavioral tradition, dating back to the early 1980s when I was a graduate student at the Institute of Psychiatry in London, England. My interest in OCD and unwanted intrusive thoughts was sparked by the stimulating discussions and innovative research of the clinical faculty, most notably Jack Rachman and Padmal de Silva. My doctoral thesis on the psychophysiology of mental control and unwanted intrusive thoughts was an outgrowth of their insights into the pathology of obsessional thought. vii viii Preface In the late 1980s, I was introduced to the cognitive perspective on clinical disorders by Aaron T. Beck. I was privileged to spend a few months at the Center for Cognitive Therapy in Philadelphia, where I received training in Beck s therapy approach. Over the last 15 years I have ... Ideal examples of thermoplastics are polyethylene, polystyrene, polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) and polyether ether ketone (PEEK). Thermo plastic resins are used as molding components. • 5. Central Park Five Essay The movie The Central Park Five was a documentary film. It is talking about five young men were involved in a rape case. One white woman was raped and left for dead in the central park in 1989. Police officers arrested five fifteen years old suspects. The government did not have enough evidence to judge these five black men and Latino Americans; however, because of the racial discrimination, the justices judged them as guilty and sentenced them to jail about 9 to 15 years. After few months, Matias Reyes confessed to the rape case and the lab test also showed that the sperm was matched. The five teenagers were released after the suspect confessed his crime. That black man was angry, but there was nothing he could do, so he kept jogging and left. From this example, we can see that the inequlity not only happened in the past, but also happened in the present. Racism was a big problem during the 18 and 19 s century. White people always thought that they were at the higher level in the society and they treated black harshly. They could trade them in the markets. They also thought the deserved to have better life, better education, better house, etc. Why this happened? The government was the chief culprit. The government educated white people that they were above the blacks. Because of that, they taught their children in the same idea. Luckily, the growing number of people realized that it was unfair and they tried to make the government treated everyone equally. More than that, the government laid down the law of protecting all of the colored people; however, even the laws passed, the racism still happens today. Black people were classified as robbers, murders, or thieves and a lot of people judge them with this category. All in all, racism should not happened in this present day, and it is terrible if that happened; however, as we could see, America has went through this by having a black president today. Since that, America is trying to tell that everyone is equal and has the same rights, no matter where they came from, what color of their skin, and what races they belong ... Rhetorical Analysis Of Apollo 11 The worldwide attention brought about by the success of the Apollo 11 moon landing was used by many speakers and writers to push forward their own agenda or opinions using a variety of rhetorical appeals and strategies. The texts, Man s First Step on the Moon , a news article by the Times of London, In Event of Moon Disaster , a prepared speech to be spoken by President Nixon written by William Safire, The July 16, 1969, Launch: A Symbol of Man s Greatness , a commentary by philosopher Ayn Rand, and Transported , a political cartoon by Herblock, were all made in occasion of the Apollo 11 mission and directed toward the viewers worldwide but each with a different purpose and rhetorical appeal. Despite this speech being written by William Safire, it was to be spoken by President Nixon to establish automatic credibility due to him being the leader of the United States, one of the most powerful countries. This use of ethos strengthens the argument of persevering through this difficulty since the persona of the speaker is that of a compassionate, but stern figure that is meant to serve as inspiration as to how the audience should act. In addition, the persona works in conjunction with pathos to evoke strong emotions of sympathy and nationalism. This is seen in the third paragraph where the phrase, They will be mourned.. is used as an anastrophe to greater emphasize the need to remember and feel sorrow for the brave astronauts who gave their lives to further humanity. Their sacrifice is later built further in the following paragraphs by comparing their achievements to those of ancient times and how they ll never be forgotten. Safire s speech utilizes the automatic credibility given by the president and emphasizes key points using rhetorical devices to establish shared values in order to further evoke sympathy and later patriotism from the audience. • 7. Repercussions Of Constructivism And The Definition Of... Terrorism appears to have soared markedly in the past few years. To begin, it seems appropriate to define the term terrorism itself first. The absolute definition of terrorism has been greatly debated globally but it seems like no political institutions or prominent figures have ever come to one clear cut definition but the term terrorism itself is simply derived from the word terror which indicates terrorism has something to do with fear and agitation. With innumerable technological advancements, terrorists have now been able to strike more efficient and harder than ever which will result in more deaths and also more destructions. Political and religious terrorism or sometimes called extremism are no longer a new thing to us anymore that it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This heated issue has been in numerous political discourses at which leaders at all levels from every corner of the world are putting forth their utmost effort to seek for ways in order to put a halt to this never ending terror. Throughout this essay, I would like to address terrorism in the lens of constructivism as it provides the most accurate end to end explanation for it. I would like to put perspicuous emphases on how terrorism itself is a social construct, how clashes of identity between actors contribute to terrorism and how norms shape the behavior of the actors. Terrorism is an objective reality and a subjective interpretation (Karaffa 2012: 3). Via this quote, we can infer that terrorism, in the eyes of constructivists, is a social construct. Berger and Luckman (1966: 76) suggest that an individual constructs reality on every level which begins with self; in face to face interactions; in small and huge group; with their own cultures and other cultures. • 8. The Shack Reflection Life can be a complicated and messy world, but knowing that we have someone in our presence(God), allows us to fit into this world and know that we are loved. The movie Shack focuses on the beauty of our relationship with God and in our growth with him. When we lose someone, who is close to us, it is hard to lose our relationship with God. We simply want to punish him for taking away our loved one and lose our devotion to him. Losing sight and track of who you are is a common sign of going into complete darkness in your relationship with God. This movie is a beautiful representation of improving your relationship with the one who truly matters in your life. I believe you should watch The Shack because it will show you the struggles the main character, Mack, faces in his relationship with God and how to turn it all around. The Shack is about a man, Mack Phillips, who comes face to face with the unknown. He suffers a tragedy, nothing he thought would ever happen to him. His past relationship as a child was abusive, not the usual loving and caring and dreamy family style. He grows out of his past relationship and marries into a loving and Christian family. He and his two daughters and son go on a camping trip where they will have to face the big ugly past. At this camping trip, Mack s five year old daughter is kidnapped and killed by an unknown man. After this event, Mack s relationship with God goes down the burner; but one day his life changes for the better. He is sent ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Reading Volume Is Central Of The World According to Allington (2014), though reading volume is central to the development of reading proficiencies, typical commercial core reading programs tend to provide material to engage students in only 15 minutes of reading each day. With the remaining 75 minutes allocated to completing workbook pages and answering lower level comprehension questions, many students receive very little time to engage in reading. Cunningham (2005) reminds us that as early as 1977, Richard Allington pleaded, If they don t read much, how they ever gonna get good (p.1). Reading volume is defined as the time students spend reading in addition to the number of words they consume as they read (Allington, 2012). This combination impacts all aspects of students cognitive abilities, ranging from vocabulary development as well as knowledge of the world (Cunningham Zibulsky, 2013). In one of the most extensive studies of independent reading, Anderson, Wilson, and Fielding (1988) connected reading growth to the time students spent reading outside of school. They found that independent time spent reading was the best predictor of reading achievement. In this study, the researchers determined that fifth grade students that read forty minutes per day scored in the 90th percentile on standardized tests. Simply put, those who read more than an hour outside of school outperform their lower achieving peers. Not only has independent reading been found to have profound affects on student achievement, but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet was by far the most well known classical piece of romance literature in the world, a powerful tragedy drama. In decades it has been adapted into movies by directors from all sorts of language backgrounds. Among those, two of them are definitely the most successful and famous adaptations the muchly appreciated classical Franco Zeffirelli s 1968 version and the modern version directed by Baz Luhrmann in 1996 was although controversial, it portrayed the purest and unstoppable love in a turbulent society by using creative, jazzy elements that was stylishly edited in a modern way. Both of the 1968 and 1996 films have clarified the setting right at the start of the film 13th century (the medieval ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Costumes in both of the films show the cheerfulness of the occasion, however, the costume in the first film is more classical while the costume choice of the second film is full of creativity and demonstrated energy and intrigue to the audiences. Other than that, the main character Romeo and Juliet s costumes are carefully chosen and have symbolic meanings in them Romeo wears a knight costume for his soul of lead , while Juliet wears an angel costume, intimating her innocence and pure soul at that time. From details like this it is found that in the 1996 film, more meaningful additions were added for more drama and emotions, and also the thoroughness of the progress of plot. The use of lighting does play an important role in the films though have not resulted on as big effect as the props and clothing. The lighting makes the effect to apply colours to the atmosphere, e.g. In the 1968 film, daylight is largely used to create the dusty and exposing feeling in the town and classical Hollywood lighting plus the usage of candles and torches creates a traditional, aged feeling; while in the 1996 film, coloured lights and spotlights are used to add provide an interesting perspective of the scene. • 11. The Empire Strikes Back I am currently a Film Production MFA student at Full Sail University. As a child I went to see The Empire Strikes Back when it was first released. I was in such awe of the film that I knew I wanted to make movies myself. Irvin Kirschner s name became more important to me as I got older. He once said, I want films to haunt an audience, to give them something to remember and be able to talk about. It is with this intention that I want to create films. As my knowledge of filmmaking started to grow, I began learning about story plots and character development. Sam Mendes reboot of Ian Fleming s James Bond franchise in my eyes was one of the best story plot developments. Sam Mendes was able to give the James Bond franchise what it had been missing: a plot. From Casino Royal, Mendes started to breathe new life into James Bond by having him confront emotions of dealing with love and loss. With Quantum of Solace, Bond was learning to get over the loss ... There are three chapters that are missing from the real biography of Malcom X, and I would explore that world where Alex Haley was an informant of the FBI. I would shoot this movie as a docudrama, playing with not only colors, but also shooting in black and white. This is also where I would explore his history from the foster homes that he grew up in, the loss of his mother, and his other siblings. • 12. The Basilica Of The Assumption Of Our Lady Of Valencia Art, the way that many cultures have expressed their ideals and culture through out time. Many artists from multiple cultures have arisen and created masterpieces of art: Everything from paintings, to massive architecture, and statues. The massive piece of art I will be focusing on today will be the Basilica of the Assumption of our Lady of Valencia or The Valencia Cathedral for short. This massive architecture shows a compelling example of Gothic art during this era. The cathedral first came to be after the Christian s re conquered Valencia back from the Arab communities, who had conquered it from the Spaniards in 723 C.E. While under the Moors (Arab Empire) control the old church that stood there became a mosque. After the Spanish acquired Valencia back, the bishop of Valencia ruled the mosque was to be replaced for a Basilica. This was to strengthen the support for the Christian religion and to recruit more people to the church. This effort was made to rekindle and bring piece of mind to the people in the region who stayed while the Moors soldiers ruled. So in 1238 C.E. the Valencia Cathedral was born. As gothic style of art swept Europe, the pope at the time decided to adopt this style of art. Blood Transfusion Is A Crucial Part Of Health Care Systems Blood transfusion is a crucial part of health care systems all around the world and contributes to saving lives of millions in both routine and emergency settings. With the advancements in Clinical Medicine, the need for this life saving fluid is rising. The annual blood collection across the world is over 88 million units of blood for a world population of 6,910 million requiring 150 million units (1). The availability of safe blood is dependent on the human blood volunteers. While volunteer blood donation (VBD) is believed to be the cornerstone of the safe blood transfusion services (BTS) (2). WHO quoted that almost five women die every hour in India due to insufficient blood transfusion after obstetric hemorrhage (7) and the condition of rural India is even worse. This article is drafted to present the current status of blood donation and transfusion in India through the eyes of a young Indian physician. Blood donation in India started in 1942 during the 2nd world war. It was aimed to help wounded soldiers. In 1954, a social reformer initiated voluntary blood donation camps. The next milestone was the declaration of October 1 as the Blood Donation Day in 1975. But this was followed by a major setback in 1980 with the emergence of AIDS. This created a fearful environment amongst the general population towards donating blood and receiving transfusion due to the risk of getting infected. Even after almost 4 decades of development of various techniques for obtaining blood via closed collection system in a sterile environment and screening for various transfusion transmitted infections (TTI), the fear of contracting some sort of infection is persistent. This misconception has been one of the major roadblocks to building a strong base for VBD. According to the WHO, nearly 38% of voluntary blood donations are by people under the age of 25(8). India is home to the largest number of young population, yet only one percent of eligible donors donate blood. Bharatwaj et al studied ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. The Quest For Peace And Justice When people think of speeches, they usually refer to important people talking about important topics. The idea of importance often differs time to time ranging from Abortions to Gun Laws. Martin Luther King, JR. is one of those important figures, as he led a variety of peaceful protests from the boycott for Rosa Parks to demonstrations in Birmingham in the fight for Civil Rights. Not to mention, he led the nonwhites in a peaceful resistance of nonviolence against unfair racial views. Out of all of his speeches, one unique one which stands out is The Quest for Peace and Justice. It shows the concept where mankind has still not matured enough to where each person of differing race is able to live next to each other peacefully. Unless mankind can get past the walls of racial injustice, ignorance of poverty, and the true evil of war, then the battle against racial prejudice will end in the worst scenario possible. Mankind already has the ability to solve all of its obstacles by uniting together as a family connected by love and god. In fact, there are two other speeches comparable in terms of influence and emotion. The most commonly known I Have a Dream speech on August 28th, 1963 and A Time to Break Silence as King believes the people must see the war from the perspective of the Vietnamese as a peaceful approach is the best approach. Although, it was different during different time periods, it has always been a part of human history in one way or another. The Pre Industrial Age, the Industrial Age, and the Information Age all had different effect on mankind s intellectual, social, and economic development. Technology has advanced education in many ways in our current time and has improved our lives overall. The Pre Industrial age, before the mid 1700 s, was mostly an agricultural time. Knowledge was typically kept for those who had power or money. The education that was available was given by the religious organizations and provided very limited subjects to be studied. The majority of the population, during this age was uneducated and illiterate. There was local markets and local trading. Mass production of products did not exist during this time ( Local Enterprise : The Pre Industrial Era ). The main goal of life, for most of the world, during this time was just basic survival. The quality of life was very low and the life expectancy was low as well. High death rates were due to war, poverty, poor hygiene, and plague; this especially affected the young people. The Decision For El Salvador s Supreme Court Throughout the semester, students have learned of the importance of the interplay amongst different levels of actors in international relations politics. These various institutions, governments, groups, and individuals are especially important when considering the issue of human rights. My chosen article, co written by Elisabeth Malkin and Gene Palumbo, describes the landmark decision for El Salvador s Supreme Court to overturn an amnesty law that protected perpetrators of human rights violations. The ruling of the Supreme Court is based on the grounds that the amnesty is unconstitutional due to violating international human rights laws (Malkin, Palumba). This event is particularly important because previous governments ignored these violations that stemmed from civil unrest. The amnesty law was established in 1992 after a civil war of more than 12 years and effectively covers all crimes committed by both sides during the war (Dolliver, Kanavel, Robeck). However, due to its contestable legality both domestically and internationally, El Salvador s Supreme Court decided to rule on the amnesty s law constitutionality for the final time. This article is relevant in the context of increasing global concern over human rights. More recent debates in international relations discuss the importance of the individual over that of states and sovereignty, especially in a society in which national and global boundaries are being transcended and constantly undermined. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dalinjong and Laar (2012), observed their study the NHIS promoted access to biomedical care services for insured residents in their study areas. This observation is further corroborated by Tawiah et al., (2016) who attribute improved access for insured persons to the reduced financial burden of seeking professional biomedical care. Contrarily, such financial cushion for professional care is not available for professional indigenous care which is increasingly becoming market oriented or commercialised. Invariably patrons of this form of care mainly resort to direct out of pocket payments. Findings of this study shows that the financial burden associated with seeking professional indigenous care is a major deterrent for most informants interviewed. This finding challenges the belief that indigenous medicine in Ghana are easily accessible and affordable (Gyasi et al. 2011; Ae Ngibise et al. 2010; Nsereko et al. 2011; Renckens and Dorlo 2013) compared to biomedicine. Thus, the notion of affordability of indigenous medicine needs be critically re examined in the context of the level of usage and the disease or health condition under consideration. Weiss, Davis (2004) Live scan is a fingerprint system that can be used in the criminal justice system and also for non criminal justice use. Background: A chemical reaction is the rate at which a substance goes through a change and it is transformed into another substance that has different compositions as well as properties.1 The rate at which a chemical reaction occurs depends on many factors, some of which include the concentration of a reactant2, temperature2, collision theory and electronegativity3. Contract Formation Part A Contracts are an integral part of business and everyday life, and are fundamental to construction as the industry relies on the formation of contracts for business agreements. Contracts are based on the idea of a bargain, where each side must put something into the bargain. A contract may be defined as an agreement which is binding on the parties (Galbraith, 1998, pg78). There are a number of key components which must be present in the formation of such contracts. Firstly, there needs to be an initial offer made by one party for the formation to begin. These are the result of failing to negotiate on certain terms in time for the project start date, and are introduced to allow the commencement of work, keeping within the projects completion target. As these are often not legally binding contracts they cause disputes in the future if one of the parties does not carry out their duties, as in British Steel Corporation v. Steinbeck s purpose is to illustrate life in all its complexities and mysteries. In the process, Steinbeck warps life s realities into his own modernized utopia, demonstrating how even the most down on their luck of communities can become a paradigm of contentment. In order to present his findings on life s intricacies, he utilizes an exquisite partnership of style and form. Style and form both impact Steinbeck s purpose in the novel, specifically in the form of a complicated set of vignettes, anecdotes, off tangent musings, and advanced sentence structures. They work in sync while mirroring the unique ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They are somewhat vulgar and they use improper grammar and abbreviate the pronunciation of certain words. A prime example of this is the conversation the boys have while out catching frogs for Doc. Mac is thinking about the idea of giving a gift to Doc and says But s pose we give him something except whiskey, maybe cufflinks with his initials [to which Hazel responds] Oh, horseshit...Doc don t want stuff like that (74). This kind of language is typical of Mack and his friends throughout the book. They use s pose instead of suppose, except instead of other than or besides, vulgar expressions instead of tame ones, and don t instead of doesn t. This helps to illustrate the complex nature of humans and their relationships. While Doc generally speaks proper English, the bums have a rough manner of speaking. Additionally, Lee Chong s voice has a significant lack of a certain letter. According to the narrator, He spoke a stately English without ever using the letter r (5 6). One example of this is when Mack comes to make a deal with him on the Palace Flophouse and Grill, Lee says You like pay lent my place? (10). By using such characterization for each of his individual character, Steinbeck captures human complexities and thus captures life s complexities. The microscopic differences in the way each character speaks ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She mentions the kitchen having a few yellow flowers and some myrtle for decoration, while bristle and plants used to make ink serve more utilitarian purposes (Morrison 27). Clearly, the kitchen contains plant life that serves as both decor and utilities, but these plants primarily serve the masters of the house. The kitchen belongs to Mrs. Garner, so the decorations are for her. The slaves repeatedly mention being illiterate, so the ink only benefits those who can write, which is the Garners. • 39. Feminism In Sesame Street Sesame Workshop s decision to incorporate a transgender Muppet on the show mirrors the gradual changes that have progressively taken place within the framework of feminism. The Eastern Kentucky University Women and Gender Studies Program defined the evolution of feminism as: Historically, feminism has evolved from the critical examination of inequality between the sexes with a more nuanced focus on the social and performative constructions of gender and sexuality (2017). In other words, the feminist establishment has transformed along with time to reflect the changes in society. Which perfectly makes sense! In order, for progress to occur, you must move along with the times, and Sesame Street has done that. Thus, the show will continue to positively influence hundreds of American youth because they know that social evolution is the key to success! Similarly, Sesame Street touches on the complexities surrounding race. Segi is a black, female Muppet who made her debut in Season 42. This progression can be viewed as positive as it was a racially diversifying move. However, the character was not given a name until Season 45 (Muppet Wiki 2017). Therefore, I find the addition of the character to be an important aspect supporting racial equality, but the fact that she remained unnamed for three seasons seems to be rather counterproductive. Eventually, Sesame Workshop named Segi after Joey Mazzarino s adopted daughter, for whom Mazzarino wrote: I Love My Hair (Muppet Wiki 2017). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
