The involvement of women is very important in the two stories, Julius Caesar by
William Shakespeare and Antigone by Sophocles. Throughout each story it becomes
clear that the ideas and biases surrounding women play an important part in how
society views women, and how women see themselves. Readers also see these ideas
spread into the minds of women affecting what they do in their life, and how they act.
Antigone and Ismene, from Antigone, and Calpurnia and Portia, from Julius Caesar
are both examples of this major theme. These four women heavily influence their
play and the outcome. Because of this it is clear to see the importance and relevance
of women in Antigone and Julius Caesar.
In both Antigone and Julius Caesar the societal views that women are weak,
submissive and inferior play a major role in each story and their conclusions. In
Antigone, King Creon is shocked when he discovers that it is Antigone that disobeys
him. The betrayer was right under his nose, but he was too blind to see it. King
Creon was blinded by the belief that women are inferior.
Likewise, in Julius Caesar, women are considered inferior. When Portia, Brutus

I work in a customer contact center with about 13 direct reports, who all speak with
customers throughout the day. Typically customers have an issue that needs
resolving, which is why they called into our customer service department. Dealing
with a number of hostile customers can produce a great amount of stress in a work

defeated Richard III at a final battle, ending the 32 year old struggle. Henry was

of God. The three axioms are: that there is at least as much reality in the efficient and
total cause as in the effect of that cause. Second, something cannot arise from nothing,

From these three axioms, three definitions come to explain each point. First, the
nature of an idea is such that, of itself, it requires no formal reality except what it

are not justified in coming to Antigua for a vacation. Kincaid thinks that tourism is
ugly, an ugly thing, that is what you are when you become a tourist (Kincaid 17).
Kincaid is trying to persuade the reader instead of informing them with a fact or
observation. This direct use of second person is successful to persuade the reader. It
is successful because the reader might feel guilty for traveling and might change his
or her perspective on traveling.
In part four of A Small Place, Kincaid tries to persuade the reader. Kincaid tries to
make the reader think that Antiguas beauty is unreal. Kincaid also instead of
informing you with facts or observations talks about how the British should be
punished for enslaving Antiguans and says in her opinion why they did it. Kincaid
wants the reader to feel that Europeans are truly unhappy, to satisfy their desire for
wealth and power, to feel better about their own miserable existence, so that they

Upon my journey of reflection during project 1, I have realized that I value
education. It s a way of not only gaining knowledge but sharing it with others. This
caused me to gain interest in finding organizations for project 2 that relates to the idea
of sharing knowledge and experiences. OU Cousin s is an organization held on
campus. Their purpose is to match international students with one American student
who shares the same interest, major, and hobbies. They encourage and promote the
involvement of students with each other to develop the understanding of different
cultures and experiences as well as creating new friendships. As reported on their
website under the About Us category, it says The OU Cousins program was created
in 1996 by President and Mrs. David Boren as a way of developing understanding,
friendship, and unity among U.S., International, and exchange students at the
