The Success Of Corporate School Reform
The corporate school reform which has originated through political movement
mainly has methods in which are taken from the political approaches. The fact that
most of the school board members consists of those who professions in business
instead of education is not favorable. The Failure of Corporate School Reform on
page one states that the corporate school reformers try to imagine public schools
as private businesses, districts as markets, students as consumers, and knowledge
as product. If I am able to purchase my knowledge, that will be great. Yet, I am not
able to do that, and I feel like the reformers are only looking at me as one of the
pawns on the chessboard; the reformers are only thinking of us as money. There is a
saying that everyone learns from their mistakes; however, the corporate school
reformers only change their methods of approaching by little bit or unnecessary
matters. Even stated on page two of The Failure of Corporate School Reform, the
reformers have insisted on accountability through testscores and [they] have failed.
Then the fact that the standardized testing is still given upon to us is objectionable.
Instead of taking out the standardized testing, the reformers, for example, comes up
with a method of abolishing or replacing public schools with charter schools. It is as
if they are trying to prove that their idea of standardized testing is not wrong by
somehow incorporating the tests into the new schools or the charter schools. The

Why Do Goths
Goths are like emo who like to worship the devil. the goths also like to be emo
because one reason to prefer old school style because of what they are and what
they represent to their life and you can t get into what they believe more in god or
devil. The other reasons for being like that is toward your being in life and what
you believe in and you have more trustworthy on. for example okay say like you
are at school and your a goth and people know what they do and the next week they
find out cutting themselves why because they want to feel the pain that the devil
feels. how its relates to miller story is that they get persecuted when they are goth
and that is when discrimination occurs and the for what they are but they don t just
get it the way they want to be outside the real world what im saying is just there life

in my opinion is that other people should hear or talk to them of what they feel
when they want to be like a devil. that are goth so they could know why they dress
like that so people won t discriminate them because for me is discriminating the
way that other people or teens look at them or talk bad about them and even the
conversation they like to talk about deaf and know of the pain that they all will
face and go through. the goths are groups who are smarter than other people in the
outside because they explore the blackside and people that are not goth they don t
know how is the black side of the earth.being part of a group that looks the same,
acts the same, and listens to the same music. there are a lot of goths that experience
loneliness since they were 7 years old and from there they were starting to be emo
people of just everyday cutting themselves so they goth go
Analysis Of Heraclitus The Mind Of God
When looking at pre Socratic philosophers, Heraclitus stands out among the crowd.
Known for his obscure and highly confusing way of thinking, Heraclitus bashed
many other philosophers and historians of his time, even calling Homer ignorant,
mainly because he believed that they failed to recognize the unity between
experiences. He believed that in observation was necessary in the search for
knowledge, but it is necessary to go beyond the observation presented. The basis
of Heraclitus philosophy is based on what he called logos . He believed that there
is a rational structure that controls the universe, and that this structure is the origin
that everything arose out of. Logos was for Heraclitus the mind of God , because
it is a rational force within nature, and instead of being a supernatural force, it is
entirely natural. Heraclitus believed that without understanding logos, you couldn
t make sense of your experiences. You had to suppose that this logos was just a
part of everyday life, just as common as something such as food or clothes are.
Heraclitus compared people that didn t understand his theory and belief of logos to
sleepers, or people whose minds were not yet open and awake. He believed that most
people were these sleepers, and that the majority of people lacked understanding.
Those who were able to understand the way that he did were enlightened in their
experiences: if one could interpret the senses they were provided, they were then open
to understanding.

The Effect of Common Bactericidal Agents on Staphylococcus Epidermidis
Introduction
Staphylococcus epidermidis is a facultative anaerobic bacterium. It is part of the
normal human flora and is found on the skin. Colonies of these bacteria can produce
a protective slime called a hydrophobic biofilm. Staphylococcus epidermidis is
usually not pathogenic unless it enters the human body. One of the most common
places for infections are hospitals where people often have weakened immune
systems, open wounds or medical devices implanted in their bodies. Staphylococcus
epidermidis can be fatal because of the protective biofilm and the bacteria s resistance
to common antibiotics makes the infection difficult to treat. This stresses the ... Show

The solutions were prepared by first creating a chemical stock solution at the
desired concentration. The first set of stock solutions was prepared with a
concentration of 10% chemical agent per volume. The stock solutions were then
added to a solution containing aqueous staphylococcus epidermidis and the new
solutions were diluted to a plated dilution of 1X10 5. The three solutions were
mechanically mixed using the vortex for approximately 10 seconds. The mixed
solutions were poured onto an agar petri dish and the solutions were distributed
evenly by using glass beads. Once the glass beads were removed the solutions were
incubated for twenty four hours. The bacteria colonies were then counted and data
was collected. The results showed that the strong oxidative solutions did not allow
for the growth of bacterial colonies where the solution containing alcohol allowed for
the growth of 264 colonies. Since there was no growth in either of the petri dishes
containing hydrogen peroxide or bleach, it could not be concluded which, if either,
chemical agent was the superior disinfectant. (See figure 1). In order to determine
which strong oxidative agent was more effective, a second trial was run. The
purpose of this second trial was to find an upper limit on the concentration where the
bacteria would grow in the presence of bleach and hydrogen peroxide. Also in this
second trial additional isopropyl alcohol solutions were prepared in an attempt to find
a concentration

(1) Two years ago, Decedent gave Child $750,000 in cash. Decedent dies in the
current year. (a) What is included in Decedent s gross estate?
Decedent made a transfer within 3 years of death. Under Section 2035(a), nothing
is included in Decedent s gross estate, because it s a cash gift. However, under
Section 2035(b), the amount of the gross estate shall be increased by the amount of
any tax paid on any gift made by the decedent during the 3 year period ending on the
date of the decedent s death. So the amount of gift tax of this gift the decedent paid
is included in his gross estate. (b) What is the result in question (1)(a), above, if ...

(e) What amount is included in Decedent s death, Child cashes in the policy and
receives $120,000?
Under section 2035(a), $750,000 is included in the decedent s gross estate. Nothing
is changed because child cashed the policy, because under Rev. Ruling 72 282, any
increase in value resulting from actions of the donee is not taken into consideration
in determining the value of the included interest. (f) What amount is included in
Decedent s gross estate if Child paid Decedent $100,000 for the policy when the
policy was worth $100,000?
Nothing is included in Decedent s gross income, because under section 2035(d),
Subsection (a) and paragraph (1) of subsection (c) shall not apply to any bona fide
sale for an adequate and full consideration in money or money s worth. (g) What
amount is included in Decedent s gross estate if Child paid Decedent $50,000 for the
policy when the policy was worth $100,000.
Because the policy was worth $100,000 but the child only paid $50,000, it is not a
sale for an adequate and full consideration in money or money s worth. Under
section 2043(a), there shall be included in the gross estate only the excess of the
fair market value at the time of death of the property otherwise to be included on
account of such transaction, over the value of the consideration received therefor by
the decedent. So $750,000 50,000 = $70,000 is included in gross estate. (2) In year

The Seventh Man Essay
It just barely missed me, but in my place it swallowed everything that mattered
most to me and swept it off to another world. The Seventh Man by Haruki
Murakami Survivors of disasters are left broken and scarred, guilty that they
survived. The Seventh Man, written by Haruki Murakami, shows the effects of
survivor guilt on an unnamed narrator, the seventh man. The seventh man was
plagued with guilt after he stayed safe on the shore while his best friend was swept
away by a wave. He felt responsible for his friend s death and it encompassed the rest
of his life. Over forty years later, the seventh man must give up all his guilt and
forgive himself for him to finally move on with his life. Survivors of disasters feel

died. Some might say that he shouldn t have taken K. to the shore in the middle of
a typhoon and he shouldn t have hesitated to get K. out of the way of the wave.
Although this is true, the seventh man was young and foolish when the typhoon
occurred. To the adults, typhoons were an annoyance and a threat they had to face
almost annually, but to the kids, removed as we were from such practical
concerns, it was just a great big circus, a wonderful source of excitement (p. 12,
Murakami). He was so young, how could he have known that the ocean would be
so dangerous? Even if the seventh man would have called to K. sooner, would he
have responded in time? He was maybe ten yards down the beach, squatting with
his back to me, and looking at something. I was sure I yelled loud enough, but my
voice did not seem to have reached him. He might have been so absorbed in
whatever he had found that my call made no impression on him. K. was like that. He
would get involved with things to the point of forgetting everything else (p. 28,
Murakami). K. was mesmerized by the flotsam washed up onto the shore and might
not have responded to the seventh man anyway. Is the seventh man at fault for K. s
Automatic Temperature Fan Speed Control
INTRODUCTION: This is a standard circuit which can be used to adjust the
brightness of mains lights and the speed of AC motors. It uses a triac, diac and has
a radio frequency interference (RFI) noise suppression circuit built into it as well.
The circuit controls the average power to a load through the triac by phase control.
The AC supply is applied to the load for only a controlled fraction of each cycle.
The triac is held in an OFF condition for a portion of its cycle then is triggered ON
at a time determined by the circuit. Each time the triac is turned on, the load current
changes very quickly a few micro seconds from zero to a value determined by the
lamp resistance and the value of the mains voltageat that instant in time.... Show more

At this instant in time no current is flowing in either direction. This is the point at
which a dimmer is electronically synchronized to turn the power ON or OFF. By
chopping the waveform at the zero crossing point, smooth dimming can be achieved
without the lamp flickering. This turning on and off of the power device occurs
every time the mains crossing point is reached (half phase), 100 or 120 times per
second. Typically light dimmers are manufactured using a Triac or Thyristoras the
power control device. These electronic parts are semiconductors not dissimilar to
transistors. A Thyristor is a Uni. directional device and hence, because AC power
flows in both directions, two are needed. A triac is a bidirectional device and
therefore only one is needed. An electronic circuit determines the point in time at
which they turn ON (conduct). The ON state continues until the next zero crossing
point, at which point the device turns itself OFF. The electronic circuit then provides
a delay, which equates to the dimness of the lamp, before turning the control device
back on. The slight capacitance of the load, filters the chopped waveform resulting in
a smooth light output. Some controllers use a microprocessor control with the above
timing function being handled by an analogue circuit. More sophisticated systems,
called digital dimmers, operate the switching direct from microprocessor. This has the
advantage of greater reliability, quieter operation, lower cost and smaller
Architecture Of Glusterfs As A Scalable File System
GlusterFS is scalable file system which is implemented in C language. Since it is an
open source its features can be extended [8]. Architecture of GlusterFS is a powerful
network written in user space which uses FUSE to connect itself with virtual file
system layer [9].
Features in GlusterFS can be easily added or removed [8]. GlusterFS has following
components:
GlusterFs server storage pool it is created of storage nodes to make a single global
namespace. Members can be dynamically added and removed from the pool.
GlusterFs storage client client can connect with any Linux file system with any of

wasn t GlusterFS s fault, and is probably not a common scenario either, but it should
spit out at least an error message.
2.4. HDFS File System
Hadoop distributed file system is written in Java for Hadoop framework, it is
scalable and portable FS. HDFS provide shell commands and Java application
programming interface (API). [12] Data in a Hadoop cluster is broken down into
smaller pieces (called blocks) and distributed throughout the cluster. In this way, the
map and reduce functions can be executed on smaller subsets of larger data sets,
and this provides the scalability that is needed for big data processing. [12] A
Hadoop cluster has nominally a single namenode plus a cluster of datanodes,
although redundancy options are available for the namenode due to its criticality.
Each datanode serves up blocks of data over the network using a block protocol
specific to HDFS. The file system uses TCP/IP sockets for communication. Clients
use remote procedure calls (RPC) to communicate with each other.
Fig 5. HDFS Architecture [19]
HDFS stores large files across multiple machines. It achieves reliability by replicating
the data across multiple hosts, and hence theoretically does not require redundant
array of independent disks (RAID) storage on

Setting up a simple system for motivating employees to higher levels of performance
and achievement doesn t have to cost the company a fortune. The idea is to gamify
productivity goals in a way that increases employee engagement and motivation.
The idea is pretty simple:

Hitler Was The Master Of Nazi Germany
Adolf Hitler or the Fuhrer was the master of Nazi Germany, although he was a
successful leader he needed the help of several people including Himmler and
Goebbels. They were even important because they we re Hitler s Henchmen. They
came up with the best solution to make German citizens believe that Germans were
the best people in the world. Himmler was the leader of terror, Himmler was born in
the 1900 s and in 1918 joined the army. He joined the Nazi partyin 1923 and then in
1929 he was appointed leader of the SS. In 1936 he become Head of all police
agencies in Germany. Goebbels was the leader of Propaganda, he was born in 1897
and joined the Nazi party in 1922. Goebbels was the Minister of Propaganda within
the party and elected to the Reichstag in 1930.
In 1919, Hitler joined the German Workers Party which later became The Nazi
Party. Hitler became successful throughout his career, Hitler did not want any
opposition within Germany. In order to achieve this, the Nazis used a mixture of
Propaganda, censorship and terror. Many Germans did not have to be terrorised into
supporting Hitler. They went along with the Nazi Party s policies because they
believed that Germany was benefiting from the way the country was being governed.
Goebbels became a member of the Nazi party, He too was the head of Propaganda
and was a brilliant speaker, with a resonant voice, and had a particular talent for
presenting Nazi policies in the media, especially on radio. The Nazis made

Types Of Common Intention Constructive Trusts
For sole name cases, there are two distinctive stages where claimant have to establish
a beneficial interest under constructive trust before quantifying the beneficial interest
whereas in joint name cases, it is assumed that there is joint equitable ownership (i.e.
50:50 split) where the court only has to quantify the beneficial interest.
For single name cases like Lloyds, claimant should acquire beneficial interest before it
can be quantified. There are two types of common intention constructive trusts: (i)
express common intention constructive trust and (ii) inferred (implied) common
intention constructive trust. Lord Bridge made two distinctions, where he referred
the first category to constructive trust and proprietary estoppel whereas the second
category to constructive trust.
As regards (i), beneficial interest in a family home can be claimed through an oral
agreement between the couple, where claimant relied on the agreement to his or her
detriment. A lie can be considered as an oral agreement. However, it must have been
communicated to each other. Instead of legal language, the courts are looking for
language that forms the necessary intention on which to base a proprietary interest.
Intention of parties must be common where Dilon LJ expressed that if parties
intention was not expressed, common intention would be difficult to prove.
Regarding detrimental reliance, claimant must prove that he or she relied on the
agreement to his or her detriment. To
Essay On Similarities Between Araby And A P
The stories of James Joyce s Araby and John Updike s A P share identical literary
traits from each character which are the protagonist. The main point of the two is that
they revolve around a young male who is pressured by his conscience to untangle the
difference between the harsh reality and the fantasies of romance that play in his
head. The young mandoes indeed recognize the difference is what turns him in the
direction of an emotional catastrophe.
One of the comparisons between the stories is the fact that the primary character,
which is also the protagonist, has made incredible efforts in trying to gain the love
and the expectations of their love lady, and mainly focused upon especially toward
which he places all his emotions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main point is the young man s love for an inconceivable lady who
unknowingly provokes the man into sensual and passionate rage that he begins to
trouble sexual impulses for those of honor and chivalry (Wells, 1993. The two
pieces are as closely related as any literary work, even though Updike took Joyce s
original work and evolved it. It can be argued by going at details that Updike lost
no time to shape A P as much after Araby. For example, one feature that attracts
young men is the whiteness and highlight of a girls skin. In both pieces, the
audience should not take this certain detail gently, for the meaning is essential to
the other components of the story, especially as they partake with female
obsession. Attracted to the milky softness and the white curve of her neck (Joyce 32)
proves the vast concern and interest Joyce s protagonist place in the more detailed
features; as well as, Updike s personality is equal as mesmerized by the desire of his
lady s long white prima donna legs (A P 188).
One major difference between Joyce s Araby and Updike s A P is the age gap
between the two young men, with Joyce s is of a much younger and inexperienced
age while Updike s character Sammy is entering his twenties. The reader should be
able to understand and accept the truth that the young man in Araby has not obtained
the understanding to determine the differences between love s reality; apart from, it
is not simple to
Character Analysis Of Nicholas Kimble
The most important trait all heroes must have is that their actions are for others,
not for themselves, and they act selflessly. A hero recovers from their struggles
determined to inspire others around them to be their best. Heroes can come in all
different ages, races, genders, and personality types. There are many heroes around,
even in everyday life. It could be a friend, a relative, even a coworker. In my case, it
was my classmate Nick Kimble. Nicholas Kimble, also known as No Knees Nick,

tends not to speak to new people, but when Nick talks to her she can t stay quiet!
Natalie describes him as, Seeing as... I know him well... he is like a child...
However, I would... describe him as the brightest bulb in the box. Nick loves
making new friends. It s rare to see him without a pal or two around and some even
report a few ladies trailing behind him. Nick has no enemies. If someone dislikes
him, Nick sits them down, gently yet firmly touching their shoulder, and asks them
who hurt them. No one can resist immediately bursting into tears and crying into
Nick s perfect arms. This is just one example of many in which No Knees Nick aids
others generously.
Nick s ultimate goal in life is to become a Feng Shui Consultant. To work towards
that, he participates in many extracurricular activities to grow close to his peers and

Is It Difficult To Prevent Genocides Essay
According to Daniel Goldhagen, genocides are constantly being underestimated,
which causes the never ending realities of the past repeating itself. From high
officials to ordinary citizens, people often overlook the pattern and causes of these
systematic killings. One of these includes the UN, which was created to prevent
another World War, and to protect the rights of sovereignty of member states. This
organization serves to solve international issues, but has failed and continues to fail to
prevent genocides. Even though this group signed in 1948 a UN document,
Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crimeof Genocide, which
punished and still punishes people guilty of genocide, not one life was ever saved
from that declaration. The reason is because most at first want to deny that these
extreme situations could happen ever again. Sadly,... Show more content on

If nations knew that there would be consequences to their calculations of profit from
the genocide, that would cause them to lean towards the right and not the wrong.
Taking away the benefits of any alliance or trade, to the ones that cause genocide
would intensify the seriousness of their atrocities. Together, every member of all
diplomatic nations, must have the right to intervene in military interventions. Solving
the issue before it happened would have been helpful when the Serbians manipulated
Bosnians by feeding the children cookies, and assuring them not to be afraid. The
United Nations should have not been deceived by these actions, nor abandoned
25,000 Bosnians gathering in a United Nations base, wanting protection. Not only did
the Unite Nations ignore this situation, but they claimed to not have any information
about the Rwandan genocide that cause the deaths of 800,000 individuals. Therefore,
we must hold our leaders accountable to their promises to alleviate the issues,
otherwise they should be denied not to hold that

companies products. As a result, the necessity of target advertising can t be
underestimated. After all, women had no reason to purchase a $50000 necklace until
Pandora proposed the tagline, your jewelry isn t just jewelry, in its latest
advertisement in Cosmopolitan Magazine (Pandora. Cosmopolitan). In that regard,
modern advertisements paint a stereotypical image of an ideal woman as the classy
being, appareled in artificial, perhaps fake, beauty. If it s not the glossy pink or red
lips, then it ll either be the artificial eye lashes, the dyed hair, or sexy stare that
hangs on the pages of magazines and postal on bill boards. While advertisements
attempt to convince us that all women are supposed to look pretty, be looked at and
be seductive, in reality, this is unwarranted. As careful analysis of three ads targeting
at women in Advertisement Cosmopolitan 2015 indicate, advertisements , in attempt
to catch patrons , have besmirched the ideologies about women s prototype by
stereotypically exaggerating the relevance of physical beauty in them. Moreover,
such unfair portrayer is proven, on several bases, to be detrimental in the long run.
One of the most common unfair messages conveyed in women oriented ads is that
the physical appearance of women is all that matters. This proposes that without
applying makeups, dying

Explore the similarities and differences in the presentation of female characters in A
Streetcar Named Desire and The World s wife
In this essay, I will be exploring the similarities and differences of female
characters in A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams; and The World s
Wife by Carol Ann Duffy. Both texts denote women as somewhat weak and
incompetent and as having a predatory attitude towards the mainly dominant male
characters. A Streetcar Named Desire was written in 1945 and it initially connected
with America s new found taste for realism following the Great Depression and
World War II. William s based the character of Blanche on his sister who was
diagnosed with schizophrenia. Williams himself was homosexual, and ... Show more

In A Streetcar Named Desire , the reader is able to see Stella fulfil the role of a
protective mother when agreeing to send Blanche to a mental institution. Despite
Blanches shocking accusations, Stella must ignore her sister for the sake of her
child. Eunice says to her you done the right thing, the only thing you could do. The
reader is able to see the role of a female friend. In this case Eunice supports Stella
through the difficult time. This is similar to Queen Herod as in the poem, Duffy
shows her as having a lack of sense when it comes down to her baby daughter. Kill
each mother s son. Do it. Spare not one. Her sheer ruthlessness has been brought to
light. In Queen Herod , Duffy also makes references to friendship and sisterhood. The
black Queen scooped out my breast, this quote shows that women are willing to help
each other in their times of need.
The traditional qualities of a wife are subverted in Medusa . Duffy presents Medusa
as a woman who has been engulfed by jealousy, caused by her adulterous husband.
My brides breath soured stank in the grey bags of my lungs. This quote displays
that Medusa was once young and beautiful, but as a result of marriage has become
hideous. This contrasts with the character of Stella in A Streetcar Named Desire ,
who is a devoted and loving wife despite the way Stanley behaves towards her. He

Holden Caulfield A Kid
J.D. Salinger s novel Catcher in the Rye is about the life of Holden Caulfield, a kid
who does not exactly live the best life possible. He has been to many different
schools including Pencey, from which he was expelled from due to lack of effort.
The tragic death of his brother Allie changes Holden s motivation and ambition to
succeed. Friends and family of Holden perceive him as a troubled kid constantly
making poor decisions but they do not realize that he acts this way because he does
not want to live a better life than Allie did. For example, when Holden has to write
an essay in English about Egyptians he leaves a note at the bottom of his essay
saying, It is alright if you flunk me though as I am flunking everything else except
English anyway (Salinger... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mr. Spencer reads this aloud to Holden when he was at his house and he was
furious. He becomes angry because Holden is not trying but he was even more
angry at the fact that he admitted that he was not trying and he did not care if he
was flunked. Mr. Spencer thinks that Holden has potential and he just wants him
to realize it before it is too late. In addition to Mr. Spencer, Holden s parents think
of him as a troubled kid. In a flashback in the book, Holden talks about when he
broke the windows in his garage and how he was only thirteen, and they were going
to have [him] psychoanalyzed (Salinger 38). His parents think that he is troubled
and that he broke the windows out of anger and they believe that nothing should be
taken to the point of breaking objects. Instead of sitting down with Holden and
talking about why he did it they automatically assume that he needs to be
psychoanalyzed. These people do not see through Holden like a window so they do

Making Change in Retail Store through Introduction of Employee Handbook
Changes are necessary elements to everyday life which help us to learn and grow.
For an organization it is very similar, and changes are often introduced to make
processes run smoother. A lack of changecould lead to an organization to stagnate
and fall behind in competition. Most successful organizations go through some
form of constant change in order stay ahead of competition and innovation.
According to Dr. Judith Wright, obstacles and challenges are to be expected when
a change initiative is proposed. However, we need to take charge and emphasize the
purpose of the change in order to explain the risks and benefits (Dr. Jud Youtube).
Dr. Wright further mentions that in order to steer towards success, it is often
necessary to explore the unknown as it may lead to something fulfilling. In terms of
an organization, it may mean motivating the labor force which leads to better work
ethics and ultimately profit. It is important to mention that we should never try to
make change for the sake of change, because a change without purpose will almost
always fail causing a waste of valuable time and resources for an organization.

The Role Of The Spirit In The Ministry Of Jesus Christ
The role of the Spirit in the ministry of Jesus in the Gospel
The Spirit of God plays significant role in person Jesus Christ from conception to
resurrection. He is the one who speaks about the coming messiah before as well. In
this paper we will analyse the role of the Spirit in the ministry of Jesus Christ
especially in the Gospels. For our study we divide the Gospels in two parts: the
Synoptic gospels (Matthew, Mark, and Luke) and Johannine.
I.The role of the Spirit in the ministry of Jesus in the Synoptic Gospels.
The synoptic Gospels describe more similar events about the role of Spirit in the

As we analyse the gospel of Luke, it immersed with the significance of Holy Spirit
role in the life and ministry of Jesus Christ more than others. As Matthew recorded:
This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about: His mother Mary was pledged to
be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be with child
through the Holy Spirit (Matthew 1:18).
The Spirit is the one who enabled Marry to miraculously conceive as it s told in
prophecy. The Same Spirit is enabled some poise people at a time to announce the
birth by giving the spirit to prophecy (Luke 1: 42 45). As it recorded Simon moved
by the Spirit , and found the infant Jesus, the Christ, with his parents in the temple
and identified Him as God s salvation; no one can do without the work and pointing
of Holy Spirit (Luke 2: 25 32). In addition Anna, the prophetess, presumably moved
by the Spirit recognized the baby Messiah (Luke 2: 36 38).
Moreover; especially Luke describes how the Spirit has significant role in Jesus s

I agree with the court system. If this is the most human way of doing things and

Workplace Diversity Within A Women s Perspective
In this report, the group has been entrusted with the task of researching issues of
workplace diversity in an engineering profession, (mainly from a women s
perspective), i.e., limitations in which women experience through a daily basis. In
doing so, this report will reach to the company executive: EGB100 Ltd , outlining

Song Of Myself Poem Analysis
Song of Myself is one of Walt Whitman s most famous works. It is one of the
original twelve pieces in the first edition of Leaves of Grass. In 1855 the poem had
no title, in 1856 it was called A Poem of Walt Whitman an American and in 1860 it
was changed to Walt Whitman . Finally in 1881, Whitman changed the title of the
poem to Song of Myself. The changes with the name of the poem are important
about indicating the growth of the meaning of the poem. In the poem, there are
three major themes: the idea of the self, the identification of self within other
selves, and the narrators relationship and connection with the elements of nature
and the universe. The poem contains a central symbol that represents the divinity
contained in all living things, and that symbol is grass. Whitman talks about the
self a lot throughout the poem. The self is both individual and universal.
Individual self is one that a man has, while the world has a universal self. The poet
wishes to merge his individual self with the universal self. The concept of self is
one of the most significant parts of Whitman s mind and art. The self is perceived
as a spiritual entity which remains permanent throughout the changing ideas and
experiences in life. This poem celebrates the poets self. While I is the poet himself,
at the same time it is universalized. In section 1, the poet lays on the grass and asks
his soul to appear, he then relates that he was form d from this soil , he was born there
Life and History of Hipparchia of Athens
Hipparchia of Athens was born into an upper class family in approximately 346
B.C in Thrace, Greece during the Hellenistic period. Her parents were aristocrats
who were originally from Athens and decided to move the family for a short period
of time to Maroneia, where Hipparchia was raised. When the family returned to
Athens, Hipparchia met a man named Crates who influenced her to follow the career
path of a cynicphilosopher. Hipparchia broke free from the androcentric
perspectives in Greece and encouraged other women to do the same. She is
remembered for her speeches towards achieving gender equality in Greece. Since
Hipparchia lived in the Hellinistic period, she had access to basic schooling as a
child. She studied subjects such as reading and music. However, she wanted to
learn subjects that were illegal for women to study during the time period she
lived in. Hipparchia also disliked the common household chores meant for Greek
women such as spinning and weaving. Instead, she wanted to join disscussions
with well educated men and discuss philosophical topics. However, due to
Hipparchia s gender and parents who strictly followed Greek social customs, she
was not able to do so. Hipparchia s childhood dreams of studying philosophy would
not have came true later in her life if she had not met a cynic philosopher named
Crates. Without her brother, Metrocles, Crates would have never entered Hipparchia
s life. After the family moved back to Athens,

an industrialized provision that is known to have poor working conditions,
infringement of labor law, and long hours coupled with low wages. In today s

think it was because our adrenaline was kicking in. Later on in the game, they put

big deal at the time. Later on in the game, we had an inning where we couldn t do
anything right. Of course Turtle Lake tried to take advantage as much as possible,
but be did okay after we had a team meeting on the pitcher s mound. Then soon or
later, we had gotten all three outs, but by that time, the score was 4 9 Turtle Lake.
Fast forward to the last inning, we were able to come back very gradually

The Book Of Esther In The Hebrew Bible
The book of Esther appears in the Hebrew Bible as one of five scrolls that is read
on festivals or commemorative days of the Jewish year. Esther is the story of the
deliverance of the Jews from destruction and persecution from King Ahasuerus
official named Haman. In this story, Esther shows great courage and devotion to
her Jewish people, and even risks her own safety to help defend them against the
wrongdoings of Haman. This story interests me most because it is a story about a
woman s courage and strength that saved her people. When King Ahasuerus wife,
Queen Vashti, refused the king s orders to appear before him in court to show the
people and the officials her beauty, King Ahasuerus was enraged by her
disobedience. The king s officials informed him that this disobedience set an
example for the wives of the officials, and that they too would disobey if the king did

The Casket Of Amontillado . Edgar Allan Poe’S
“The Cask
The Casket of Amontillado Edgar Allan Poe s The Cask of Amontillado is a short
story illustrating how pride leads to the downfall of two men. At the story s heart is
the tale of Montresor, the protagonist, getting revenge on a former friend, Fortunato.
Poe s characterization of Montresor shows a sinister, proud man, obsessed not only
with his revenge but also not getting punished himself. It must be a perfect revenge,
one in which Fortunato will know fully what is happening to him and in which
Montresor will be forever undetected (Morsberger 334). Poe s portrayal of
Montresor and his revenge depends mainly on his use of three artistic tools: a first
person narrative, dramatic irony, and symbolism. A brief examination of these three...

At the carnival, when Montresor meets Fortunato and tells him about the amontillado,
he states, As you are engaged, I am on my way to Luchresi, referring to Fortunato
being inebriated. Fortunato insists that, Luchresi cannot tell Amontillado from Sherry
(Poe 361). Knowing his victim s vanity, Montresor baits him by saying that some
fools argue that Luchresi s taste is as fine as Fortunato s (Morsberger 334). The use
of the first person narrative lets Poe change how readers view the characters. By
telling the story through Montresor s point of view, readers never get the chance to
hear Fortunato s side of the story, meaning one never discovers if Fortunato truly
wronged Montresor. This prevents the reader from having sympathy for either
character. Charles May says, The reader has no way of knowing what these
thousand injuries and the mysterious insult are and thus can make no judgement
about whether Montresor s revenge is justifiable (qtd. in Baraban para. 6). Third,
and perhaps most importantly, the first person point of view lets the reader know
ahead of time about Montresor s plan for revenge, setting up the use of irony in the
story. A second tool Poe used in The Cask of Amontilladois dramatic irony. Poe used
irony multiple times in this story, largely due to using the first person narrator. A
major plot dynamic of Poe s great story is Montresor s menacing irony, and
Conflict Resolution By Stephen R. Covey
Conflict Resolution To win or not to win, that is the question...or is it? Stephen R.
Covey suggests that it does not have to be a win lose scenario. Covey subscribes to a
win win philosophy, Win win is a frame of mind and heart that constantly seeks
mutual benefit in all human interactions (Covey, n.d.). When it comes to parent
teacher conflicts, Covey s Win win approach is the best solution to deescalate
frustrations and maintain positive relationships between the teacher, students, and
parents. This paper will examine two conflict scenarios and determine which actions
achieved a mutual beneficial outcome. In the first parent teacher conflict scenario, a
mother storms into her son s classroom and demands if the teacher there is the one
she is looking for. After his affirmation, she begins to vent her frustrations about an
assignment that made her child bring a homeless man into her home. It is not long
before the teacher cuts the parent off and condescendingly informs her he has no idea
what she is talking about or who she is. As the mother angrily tells him it is about an
assignment he gave her child, the teacher immediately jumps to the defensive. The
teacher berates her communication with her child, uses sarcasm when explaining the
assignment he gave out and the intent behind it, and made it known that he was not
taking her concerns seriously as he suggested she put her complaints in a suggestion
box. There were no win win resolutions made in this
Puppy Mills Ethical
Is It Ethical? All around the world, dogs suffer daily from not just their owners, but
from their own bodies. Inbreeding and extreme breed standards lower the quality of
life for purebred dogs (Rooney and Sargan). Puppy mills, despite government
crackdown, continue to operate and sell ill, disfigured dogs (Solotaroff). Breeding
purebreddogs only for profit and not for the wellbeing of the dog, is unethical,
because of puppy mills, dog defects due to this kind of breeding, and dog quality of
life. Firstly, the number one reason why purebred breeding purely for profit is
unethical: puppy mills. A puppy mill, as defined by the Humane Society of the

As anyone who has seen a televised dog show can attest, some dogs are deformed
in disturbing ways. One might look at the excessively wrinkled skin of the
Chinese Shar Pei, the the flat face of a bulldog, or the low slung eyelids of a
Bloodhound (PBS), and think, That can not be healthy. The fact of the matter is
that these deformities are far from healthy. As the Public Broadcasting Service
(PBS) points out, the Shar Pei s skin (due to it s excessively wrinkled nature) is
prone to skin infections, the Bloodhound s droopy eyes are practically magnets for
eye infection, and the Bulldog s face is so squished that it can never breathe
correctly. While these deformities may be more obvious, overly large or small
pedigree dogs have their own slew of health problems (Rooney and Sargan). As
Rooney and Sargan disclose, very small dogs (known as toy breeds) often have
dislocated kneecaps, heart problems, and trouble staying warm. Big dogs, such as
Great Danes, can suffer from heat prostration and orthopedic issues (Rooney and
Sargan). According to Rooney and Sargan, almost every purebred breed of dog is
more likely to have at least one genetic disease compared to mixed breeds.
However, physical problems are not the only thing purebred dogs have to face:
behavioral problems are also more prevalent in certain breeds (Rooney and Sargan).

Individuality In The Giving Tree By Shel Silverstein

individuality. In diverse ways, each human and tree display their unique sense of
character. No two trees display the same characteristics, just as no two humans ever

However, the branch of similarity between humans and trees doesn t only extend
between their source of individuality. Throughout the story The Giving Tree, written

Nigeria And Keny Corruption Essay
Throughout the last 10 years, Nigeria and Kenya have been partly free. Corruption is
the greatest indicator among both for the lack of democracy. In Nigeria, corruption
stems from the problem with oil, it leads to political violence, repression and
unchecked government power. In Kenya, corruption arises from economic interests,
causing political instability and hindering development. In addition to that, both
experience electoral corruption. Conversely, civil societies active participation in the
government propels each country towards a thicker democracy. Even though Nigeria
and Kenya are thin democracies, their high levels of corruption in their government
inhibits their ability of becoming free democracies.
While both Kenya and Nigeria are partly free, historically, Kenya s freedom score
is lower than Nigeria s. High levels of corruption are prevalent in both Nigeria and
Kenya, however, the oil curse in Nigeria further stimulates corruption which
impairs their countries democracy. Nigeria s economy is the second largest in
Africa and it continues to grow by 6% a year. This growth is dominated by the
production of oil. Oil accounts for more than 98% of export revenues. Oil wealth is
the main source of corruption in Nigeria, it encompasses political violence, and
repression (Nigeria Freedom House). Diamond accounts that among the 23 countries

Scottish Culture Vs American Culture
Information
I will discuss the history and ground level information of Scotland and Wales,
representing how this trifling nation has molded the world and others who live in it. I
will also discuss important material about the statistics of the country and the
distinction between the ethnocentrism in British and American ways of life. I will
also discuss how the United States and Scotland both partake in many cultural ideas
and traditions, But like every culture and nation they are different and share plenty of
alterations.

How Does Steinbeck Present Loneliness
The harsh and lonely characteristics of crooks emphasize the loneliness theme shown
throughout the book.
The realistic fiction novella Of Mice And Men by John Steinbeck explains the
journey of two migrant farm workers. The main characters: Lennie and George are
thrown at with many challenges they are forced to overcome, one being the time it
takes place in. The story takes place during the Dust Bowl and Great Depression
around 1938, which makes jobs even harder to come by because everyone wanted
one. Lennie and George were kicked out of weed, and now work at a ranch in
Soledad. At the new farm the friendship between Lennie and George becomes harder
to maintain. The people on the farm are all different shapes, sizes, and are from
different backgrounds, yet they all are very familiar with one concept: loneliness. The
character most familiar with this concept is Crooks. In Of mice and men, John
Steinbeck creates the isolated characterization of Crooks by describing how he looks,
what he says, and his actions to emphasize the theme of loneliness that occurs
throughout the book.
In this time period, being a different color than everyone else was not a benefit. The
color of skin is a simple aspect enough. However, it separates him in ways beyond
imaginable, making Crooks very lonely. Steinbeck made it seem so important that he
was a different color sets the scene of the prejudice in the time of the dust bowl.
When Crooks is first mentioned, one of the first things mentioned
Noise Induced Hearing Loss In Firefighters
Noise induced hearing loss is a common and irreversible occupational hazard that
affects a large number of individuals in a variety of professions (Fligor, 2011). In
particular, firefighters are routinely exposed to loud sounds through sirens, air horns,
alarms, and tools as well as hazardous chemicals that can have an ototoxic effect on
the auditory system (Kardous Afanuh, 2013). Due the excessive noise levels most
firefighters are exposed to, firefighters view noise exposure and hearingloss as an
inevitable aspect of their career (Kang, Hong, Kim, Yoon, 2015). Consequently,
hearing loss is more prevalent in firefighters than in the general population and
presents characteristics that are slightly different than noise induced hearing... Show

As found in by Hong et al. (2013a), firefighters are more likely to use hearing
protection if their administrators encourage HPD use and use them while they
work. Therefore, fire departments can prevent hearing loss by simply encouraging
HPD use. In addition to supporting HPD use, fire departments should employ
hearing conservation programs that include education programs on the risks of
hearing loss and the benefits of HPD use as well as mandatory annual hearing
screenings (Hong et al., 2013a; Meyer, 2012). Education programs and hearing
screenings can help in the prevention of noise induced hearing loss in firefighters by
identifying hearing losses early and informing firefighters of ways to avoid hearing
loss before it occurs. Furthermore, fire departments can select gear and equipment
that blocks or reduces noise, air conditioned or closed cab fire trucks to reduce driving
with the windows down, and positioning siren on the front of the truck (Hong Samo,
2007). These measures will prevent noise induced hearing loss by reducing the
amount of noise firefighters are exposed to. While fire departments are not required
to implement hearing protection programs, the National Institute for Occupational
Safety and Health (NIOSH) released four recommendations for reducing noise
induced hearing loss in firefighters. These recommendations include noise emission

Thus, we went over two main issues caused by inappropriate personality test: time
and money. They are also two key elements for an organization. Let s go deeper to
understand why these two points can decrease the efficiency of an organization.
Time is very important for an organization (most of the time concerning
companies), the quicker, the better. Indeed, the influence of time on companies is
due in order to satisfy customers. This means to have the best employee as
possible, and the first step is obviously the recruitment with a personality test. Of
course it takes time to do a test when we recruit someone. However, we should see
this on the long term and not short term because the benefit is really huge. Moreover,
employers or managers usually forget that employees are the basement of an
organization, and the stronger, the better, which means having the correct employee
with the correct skills and abilities for the job specifications. Job specification is the
Statement of the needed knowledge, skills, and abilities of the person who is to
perform the position. The different duties and responsibilities performed by only one
employee . Money is fundamental for an organization, and this doesn t only mean
The Watchers Research Paper
Have you ever seen a picture with eyes that seem to follow you? Most people feel
uneasy around them, but most people also learn to shrug the feeling off. It s true that
a lot of paintings are just paintings, but some . . . are more. Those are The Watchers,
and The Watchers are everywhere.
The Watchers were the first to cross over from the north; they crossed so long ago
that by the time Dragons came, The Watchers were a legend even to them. But the
truth is this: they re out there and they ll never die out.
The Watchers aren t the paintings. If that were the case, they would ve died out,
vanished, or been forgotten long ago. The paintings aren t The Watchers, just like
your shadow isn t yourself. But just like you re never far from your shadow, The
Watchers are never far from their paintings. What is a creature that can sit in silence
for eternity and do nothing but observe and collect information?
Why do they collect information? Everything in this world has a purpose. What is
the use of a creature that only watches? The truth is, no one knows. Some say that
they report back to the Storytellers, who shape the history of mankind. Others say
they report to The Weavers; who can bend the very fabric of existence. There is a

The painting s pull is so great that no one can be brought to notice anything else.
Even the people working at the museum are aware of nothing other than the
painting when in its presence. It makes for the perfect cover for the owners who,
never watched, can stand in the far corner, facing the wall: a boy and an old man
standing side by side. They stare into the wall, as if they could see the world there,
except their eyes are completely blank; and yet, somewhere, in the depth of their
darkness, hides a terrible consciousness. Looking into such eyes, you would learn one
thing: that you would not be of this World for
Surrealism In The Surrealist Manifesto
Surrealism stemmed from the idea of representing the unconscious mind,
unburdening of the individual from societal norm, and emancipating human desire.
Surrealists, sought for freedom of mind and sexual emancipation however their
depiction women as idealized females, passive muses, fuellers of fantasies and mere
sexual creatures stripped women of their identities. Andre Breton kindled the
movement with his surrealist manifesto, guiding surrealists after him; Breton s view
of Freudian subconscious and his call for the elimination of reason societal norms
resulted in sexual awakening, depiction of male fantasies and overtly sexualized
female figures. Rene Magritte, depicted the male gaze, the perception of the female in

The representation of women and the female body in surrealist art is best
exemplified in Dali s In Voluptas Mors and in Rene Magritte s Le Viol . Dali
distorted female bodies, producing a nightmarish effect in his most notorious
photograph titled In Voluptas Mors, which translates to Voluptuous Death. The
black and white photo is of nude women arranged to resemble a skull. Female
figure is sexualized and objectified and also is depicted to be death itself. The
photograph depicts distorted torsos creating a skull, women are merely naked
torso s, voluptuous and sexual. Without individuality and identity the bodies in
Dali s work, are an example the female image surrealism. Magritte s most shocking
and contradictory work, Le Viol , can be translated as the rape . In the painting,
nipples replaces eyes, a belly button where her nose should be, and a vulva for a
mouth, the female face is erased by the female torso imposed upon it. The painter
might be suggesting that female anatomy is bound to be her destiny, that this is how
the society views her. One might see this as Magritte criticizing the values of his
times as the painting is open to interpretation. However, there is no doubt that he
indented to shock his viewers. The artist s intentions aside,

The Gospel Of Wealth By Andrew Carnegie
Wealth is something that not all people have, but most typically want more of it.
There are many people on Earth that wish they had more wealth, and there are even
a select few that have too much. The Gospel of Wealth by Andrew Carnegie is all
about what should be done when there is too much wealth held by an individual.
Carnegie begins his essay by describing how the disparity of wealthhas changed over
the years. He also describes how wealth has simply grown in general over time.
Carnegie states, What were the luxuries have become the necessaries of life . He
then goes on to discuss ways that excess wealth accumulated by any one person can
be spent or distributed. There are three ways, or modes, that Carnegie touches on in
order to dispose
The Color Of Water Analysis
Color of God The Color of Water is the story of about a young black man, James
McBride, finding himself through his mother, Ruth McBride. He tells his story,
focusing on his childhood in New York City. His white mother also tells her story,
where she was raised a Jew. She married a black man and had eight children,
including James. Before James was even born, her husband died. She remarried to
another black man and had four more children, all black. While growing, James and
his siblings look for answers about their odd lives in their mother. One of their
common questions is about skin color. After church one day, James asks his mother
about the color of God. What color is God s spirit It doesn t have a color, she said.

She is very spiritual, emphasizing the importance of church and God to her
children. Mommy loved God. She went to church each and every Sunday, the only
white person in sight... (McBride 45). She tells the children children to focus on
their education and God, not the color of their skin. To the her, the only person
whose opinion matters is God. If God loves both whites and blacks, why should it
matter what color one s skin is? If this view was shared by all Americans, life for
blacks would have been much easier. This is why Ruth McBride sees no problem
with marrying a black man. He is just another human being, whom she loved.
When her first husband died, leaving her with eight children, she remarried
quickly. Like the first, he was black, and she was able to look past the color of his
skin and see his humanity. She, like God, sees past his skin and looks within. He
also dies, but not before giving Ruth four more children, making a total of twelve
children, all with different skin color than Ruth. If all Americans, both then and now,
were able to look past the outside, whether it be race, sex, sexual orientation, or
religion, America would be a better place to live. James, on the other hand, is
embarrassed by his
Research Questions Are The Basic Building Blocks Of A...
Research questions are the basic building blocks of a research project. Developing
good research questions is one of the first steps in the research process (Taylor,
1999). When developed correctly using precise language and when it is properly
investigated beforehand, research questions should guide the researchproject and
assist in the topic s investigation (Taylor, 1999). When approaching a new Research
project one must ask, what information do I need to know and what kind of
questions can I ask to obtain the information I m looking for? In research there is
either a broad topic or a narrowed down topic. This is where research questions come
into play. Creating a good research question can eliminate any unnecessary
information.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This should begin by identifying a topic that can be investigated then doing
general research about the topic to find any information or research that already
exists (Taylor, 1999). Choose a question that is simple yet will uncover other
questions of detail; make sure your question has an in depth understanding of what
your topic is. (Brause, R. S. 2000) The topic should be somewhat of interest to the
author, and not just a convenient topic (Tosi, 1984). Research questions should be
of interest to the writer but, not so personal that it does not apply to others outside
their circle. Studies that are linked to the concerns of the larger community are
more likely to be of interest to that larger community and to contribute to the larger
conversation (Kennedy, M. 2006). Typical problems include areas of improvement
and areas of difficulty (Biddix, 2009). Questions can also seek to relate items to
each other, such as a human resource professional trying to find a correlation
between pay scales and turnover rates. Creating a list of potential open ended how
or why research questions will help narrow down the topic to which areas might
make for good research (Taylor, 1999).
It is important not to create research questions that have already been adequately
researched, as well as to not create research questions that cannot be answered (Tosi,
1984). One should consider conduct(ing) preliminary research on the topic in

our school system for 100 years and has created various great citizens of our
country since. The program has its roots in the National Defense Act of 1916 and
its purpose has varied in the past 100 years from one thing to the other, yet the

1645 schools, every state in the nation, and even American schools overseas. Cadet
enrollment has also grown exponentially with 314,000 cadets guided by 4,000
professionals all around the United States, and more to come.
It is safe to say that the JROTC will continue creating bright and disciplined
citizens as it has been doing for the past century; citizens who will uphold the
Constitution and protect the American way of life, true patriots who live for their
country and fellow countrymen, men and women with whom they share the
fabulous American dream with, men and women who will be seen as the epitome
of American society and always stand proud for our country. Sentiments of
brotherhood, selfless service, leadership, duty, valor, ardent love for what they are
and what they have done, and more; all of these make up the remarkable and
unique experience that is the JROTC, the citizens of tomorrow. As long as the
JROTC persists, the existence of at least one model citizen; a leader, is assured to
linger on our precious red, white, and blue soil. The JROTC is not only a home for
many, but for
Lab Chemistry Lab Experiment
Throughout this lab, many different experiments were tested on the unknown white
compound. The first test ran was the Solubility Test, which was started by measuring
0.03g of the unknown substance. Next, measure out 60ml of distilled H2O and mix
with 0.03g of unknown. Use a stirring rod to the substances were mixed together,
and observations were made to see if the unknown dissolves. The use of a ionic
solubilitychart was helpful when running this test.
The next test that was conducted in this lab was the Anion/Cation Test. Within the
Cation/Anion test the first experiment was done with the Ammonia Trial. Within this
trial,1ml of 6M NaOH was needed along with 0.03g of the unknown compound,
and 1ml of distilled H2O. The Ammonia Trial will have a chemical compound of
NH4(X) + NaOH = NH3 + Na(X) + H2O, where X is the unknown anion. The first
step of this trial was to mix the measured unknown with the H2O. Once the
compound has dissolved, add the NaOH to the solution. By wafting over the
solution determining if an ammonia smell is present, if so the unknown compound
will contain ammonium. The trial was repeated three times and observations were
recorded. The next Cation/Anion experiment that was conducted was the Halide
Trial. This trial was conducted by taking 0.03g of unknown compound and creating
a solution with 1ml of distilled H2O. Then, 1ml of 6M HNO3, and 1ml of 0.1M
AgNO3 was added to the solution, and observations were made towards if a white
precipitate was formed.

  • 2. The Success Of Corporate School Reform The corporate school reform which has originated through political movement mainly has methods in which are taken from the political approaches. The fact that most of the school board members consists of those who professions in business instead of education is not favorable. The Failure of Corporate School Reform on page one states that the corporate school reformers try to imagine public schools as private businesses, districts as markets, students as consumers, and knowledge as product. If I am able to purchase my knowledge, that will be great. Yet, I am not able to do that, and I feel like the reformers are only looking at me as one of the pawns on the chessboard; the reformers are only thinking of us as money. There is a saying that everyone learns from their mistakes; however, the corporate school reformers only change their methods of approaching by little bit or unnecessary matters. Even stated on page two of The Failure of Corporate School Reform, the reformers have insisted on accountability through testscores and [they] have failed. Then the fact that the standardized testing is still given upon to us is objectionable. Instead of taking out the standardized testing, the reformers, for example, comes up with a method of abolishing or replacing public schools with charter schools. It is as if they are trying to prove that their idea of standardized testing is not wrong by somehow incorporating the tests into the new schools or the charter schools. The result
  • 3. Why Do Goths Goths are like emo who like to worship the devil. the goths also like to be emo because one reason to prefer old school style because of what they are and what they represent to their life and you can t get into what they believe more in god or devil. The other reasons for being like that is toward your being in life and what you believe in and you have more trustworthy on. for example okay say like you are at school and your a goth and people know what they do and the next week they find out cutting themselves why because they want to feel the pain that the devil feels. how its relates to miller story is that they get persecuted when they are goth and that is when discrimination occurs and the for what they are but they don t just get it the way they want to be outside the real world what im saying is just there life no one can t tell them what to be and what to believe in for... • 4. Analysis Of Heraclitus The Mind Of God When looking at pre Socratic philosophers, Heraclitus stands out among the crowd. Known for his obscure and highly confusing way of thinking, Heraclitus bashed many other philosophers and historians of his time, even calling Homer ignorant, mainly because he believed that they failed to recognize the unity between experiences. He believed that in observation was necessary in the search for knowledge, but it is necessary to go beyond the observation presented. The basis of Heraclitus philosophy is based on what he called logos . He believed that there is a rational structure that controls the universe, and that this structure is the origin that everything arose out of. Logos was for Heraclitus the mind of God , because it is a rational force within nature, and instead of being a supernatural force, it is entirely natural. Heraclitus believed that without understanding logos, you couldn t make sense of your experiences. You had to suppose that this logos was just a part of everyday life, just as common as something such as food or clothes are. Heraclitus compared people that didn t understand his theory and belief of logos to sleepers, or people whose minds were not yet open and awake. He believed that most people were these sleepers, and that the majority of people lacked understanding. Those who were able to understand the way that he did were enlightened in their experiences: if one could interpret the senses they were provided, they were then open to understanding.
  • 5. The Effect of Common Bactericidal Agents on Staphylococcus... The Effect of Common Bactericidal Agents on Staphylococcus Epidermidis Introduction Staphylococcus epidermidis is a facultative anaerobic bacterium. It is part of the normal human flora and is found on the skin. Colonies of these bacteria can produce a protective slime called a hydrophobic biofilm. Staphylococcus epidermidis is usually not pathogenic unless it enters the human body. One of the most common places for infections are hospitals where people often have weakened immune systems, open wounds or medical devices implanted in their bodies. Staphylococcus epidermidis can be fatal because of the protective biofilm and the bacteria s resistance to common antibiotics makes the infection difficult to treat. This stresses the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The solutions were prepared by first creating a chemical stock solution at the desired concentration. The first set of stock solutions was prepared with a concentration of 10% chemical agent per volume. The stock solutions were then added to a solution containing aqueous staphylococcus epidermidis and the new solutions were diluted to a plated dilution of 1X10 5. The three solutions were mechanically mixed using the vortex for approximately 10 seconds. The mixed solutions were poured onto an agar petri dish and the solutions were distributed evenly by using glass beads. Once the glass beads were removed the solutions were incubated for twenty four hours. The bacteria colonies were then counted and data was collected. The results showed that the strong oxidative solutions did not allow for the growth of bacterial colonies where the solution containing alcohol allowed for the growth of 264 colonies. Since there was no growth in either of the petri dishes containing hydrogen peroxide or bleach, it could not be concluded which, if either, chemical agent was the superior disinfectant. (See figure 1). In order to determine which strong oxidative agent was more effective, a second trial was run. The purpose of this second trial was to find an upper limit on the concentration where the bacteria would grow in the presence of bleach and hydrogen peroxide. Also in this second trial additional isopropyl alcohol solutions were prepared in an attempt to find a concentration
  • 6. Gift Tax Essay Homework 3 LEI FENG(Kimmy) Problem3 (1) Two years ago, Decedent gave Child $750,000 in cash. Decedent dies in the current year. (a) What is included in Decedent s gross estate? Decedent made a transfer within 3 years of death. Under Section 2035(a), nothing is included in Decedent s gross estate, because it s a cash gift. However, under Section 2035(b), the amount of the gross estate shall be increased by the amount of any tax paid on any gift made by the decedent during the 3 year period ending on the date of the decedent s death. (e) What amount is included in Decedent s death, Child cashes in the policy and receives $120,000? Under section 2035(a), $750,000 is included in the decedent s gross estate. Nothing is changed because child cashed the policy, because under Rev. Ruling 72 282, any increase in value resulting from actions of the donee is not taken into consideration in determining the value of the included interest. (f) What amount is included in Decedent s gross estate if Child paid Decedent $100,000 for the policy when the policy was worth $100,000? Nothing is included in Decedent s gross income, because under section 2035(d), Subsection (a) and paragraph (1) of subsection (c) shall not apply to any bona fide sale for an adequate and full consideration in money or money s worth. (g) What amount is included in Decedent s gross estate if Child paid Decedent $50,000 for the policy when the policy was worth $100,000. Because the policy was worth $100,000 but the child only paid $50,000, it is not a sale for an adequate and full consideration in money or money s worth. Under section 2043(a), there shall be included in the gross estate only the excess of the fair market value at the time of death of the property otherwise to be included on account of such transaction, over the value of the consideration received therefor by the decedent. So $750,000 50,000 = $70,000 is included in gross estate. (2) In year one, Deathly Ill made

  • 8. The Seventh Man Essay It just barely missed me, but in my place it swallowed everything that mattered most to me and swept it off to another world. The Seventh Man by Haruki Murakami Survivors of disasters are left broken and scarred, guilty that they survived. The Seventh Man, written by Haruki Murakami, shows the effects of survivor guilt on an unnamed narrator, the seventh man. The seventh man was plagued with guilt after he stayed safe on the shore while his best friend was swept away by a wave. He felt responsible for his friend s death and it encompassed the rest of his life. Over forty years later, the seventh man must give up all his guilt and forgive himself for him to finally move on with his life. Survivors of disasters feel responsible when... Some might say that he shouldn t have taken K. to the shore in the middle of a typhoon and he shouldn t have hesitated to get K. out of the way of the wave. Although this is true, the seventh man was young and foolish when the typhoon occurred. To the adults, typhoons were an annoyance and a threat they had to face almost annually, but to the kids, removed as we were from such practical concerns, it was just a great big circus, a wonderful source of excitement (p. 12, Murakami). He was so young, how could he have known that the ocean would be so dangerous? Even if the seventh man would have called to K. sooner, would he have responded in time? He was maybe ten yards down the beach, squatting with his back to me, and looking at something. I was sure I yelled loud enough, but my voice did not seem to have reached him. He might have been so absorbed in whatever he had found that my call made no impression on him. K. was like that. He would get involved with things to the point of forgetting everything else (p. 28, Murakami). K. was mesmerized by the flotsam washed up onto the shore and might not have responded to the seventh man anyway. Is the seventh man at fault for K. s
  • 9. Automatic Temperature Fan Speed Control INTRODUCTION: This is a standard circuit which can be used to adjust the brightness of mains lights and the speed of AC motors. It uses a triac, diac and has a radio frequency interference (RFI) noise suppression circuit built into it as well. The circuit controls the average power to a load through the triac by phase control. The AC supply is applied to the load for only a controlled fraction of each cycle. The triac is held in an OFF condition for a portion of its cycle then is triggered ON at a time determined by the circuit. Each time the triac is turned on, the load current changes very quickly a few micro seconds from zero to a value determined by the lamp resistance and the value of the mains voltageat that instant in time.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At this instant in time no current is flowing in either direction. This is the point at which a dimmer is electronically synchronized to turn the power ON or OFF. By chopping the waveform at the zero crossing point, smooth dimming can be achieved without the lamp flickering. This turning on and off of the power device occurs every time the mains crossing point is reached (half phase), 100 or 120 times per second. Typically light dimmers are manufactured using a Triac or Thyristoras the power control device. These electronic parts are semiconductors not dissimilar to transistors. A Thyristor is a Uni. directional device and hence, because AC power flows in both directions, two are needed. A triac is a bidirectional device and therefore only one is needed. An electronic circuit determines the point in time at which they turn ON (conduct). The ON state continues until the next zero crossing point, at which point the device turns itself OFF. The electronic circuit then provides a delay, which equates to the dimness of the lamp, before turning the control device back on. The slight capacitance of the load, filters the chopped waveform resulting in a smooth light output. Some controllers use a microprocessor control with the above timing function being handled by an analogue circuit. More sophisticated systems, called digital dimmers, operate the switching direct from microprocessor. This has the advantage of greater reliability, quieter operation, lower cost and smaller
  • 10. Architecture Of Glusterfs As A Scalable File System GlusterFS is scalable file system which is implemented in C language. Since it is an open source its features can be extended [8]. Architecture of GlusterFS is a powerful network written in user space which uses FUSE to connect itself with virtual file system layer [9]. Features in GlusterFS can be easily added or removed [8]. GlusterFS has following components: GlusterFs server storage pool it is created of storage nodes to make a single global namespace. Members can be dynamically added and removed from the pool. GlusterFs storage client client can connect with any Linux file system with any of NFS, CFS, HTTP and FTP protocols. HDFS File System Hadoop distributed file system is written in Java for Hadoop framework, it is scalable and portable FS. HDFS provide shell commands and Java application programming interface (API). [12] Data in a Hadoop cluster is broken down into smaller pieces (called blocks) and distributed throughout the cluster. In this way, the map and reduce functions can be executed on smaller subsets of larger data sets, and this provides the scalability that is needed for big data processing. [12] A Hadoop cluster has nominally a single namenode plus a cluster of datanodes, although redundancy options are available for the namenode due to its criticality. Each datanode serves up blocks of data over the network using a block protocol specific to HDFS. The file system uses TCP/IP sockets for communication. Clients use remote procedure calls (RPC) to communicate with each other. Fig 5. HDFS Architecture [19] HDFS stores large files across multiple machines. It achieves reliability by replicating the data across multiple hosts, and hence theoretically does not require redundant array of independent disks (RAID) storage on

USING BASEBALL HATS TO BOOST EMPLOYEE MOTIVATION AND JOB PERFORMANCE Using customized, colored baseball hats to boost employee performance It s been some time since the baseball hat became a symbol of recognition and high status. Wearing a baseball hat, especially one with the right color and embroidery design makes people feel important, appreciated, and unique. Setting up a simple system for motivating employees to higher levels of performance and achievement doesn t have to cost the company a fortune. Types Of Common Intention Constructive Trusts For sole name cases, there are two distinctive stages where claimant have to establish a beneficial interest under constructive trust before quantifying the beneficial interest whereas in joint name cases, it is assumed that there is joint equitable ownership (i.e. 50:50 split) where the court only has to quantify the beneficial interest. For single name cases like Lloyds, claimant should acquire beneficial interest before it can be quantified. There are two types of common intention constructive trusts: (i) express common intention constructive trust and (ii) inferred (implied) common intention constructive trust. Lord Bridge made two distinctions, where he referred the first category to constructive trust and proprietary estoppel whereas the second category to constructive trust. As regards (i), beneficial interest in a family home can be claimed through an oral agreement between the couple, where claimant relied on the agreement to his or her detriment. A lie can be considered as an oral agreement. However, it must have been communicated to each other. Instead of legal language, the courts are looking for language that forms the necessary intention on which to base a proprietary interest. Intention of parties must be common where Dilon LJ expressed that if parties intention was not expressed, common intention would be difficult to prove. Regarding detrimental reliance, claimant must prove that he or she relied on the agreement to his or her detriment. To
  • 14. Essay On Similarities Between Araby And A P The stories of James Joyce s Araby and John Updike s A P share identical literary traits from each character which are the protagonist. The main point of the two is that they revolve around a young male who is pressured by his conscience to untangle the difference between the harsh reality and the fantasies of romance that play in his head. The young mandoes indeed recognize the difference is what turns him in the direction of an emotional catastrophe. The two pieces are as closely related as any literary work, even though Updike took Joyce s original work and evolved it. It can be argued by going at details that Updike lost no time to shape A P as much after Araby. For example, one feature that attracts young men is the whiteness and highlight of a girls skin. In both pieces, the audience should not take this certain detail gently, for the meaning is essential to the other components of the story, especially as they partake with female obsession. Attracted to the milky softness and the white curve of her neck (Joyce 32) proves the vast concern and interest Joyce s protagonist place in the more detailed features; as well as, Updike s personality is equal as mesmerized by the desire of his lady s long white prima donna legs (A P 188). One major difference between Joyce s Araby and Updike s A P is the age gap between the two young men, with Joyce s is of a much younger and inexperienced age while Updike s character Sammy is entering his twenties. The reader should be able to understand and accept the truth that the young man in Araby has not obtained the understanding to determine the differences between love s reality; apart from, it is not simple to

One of these includes the UN, which was created to prevent another World War, and to protect the rights of sovereignty of member states. Even though this group signed in 1948 a UN document, Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crimeof Genocide, which punished and still punishes people guilty of genocide, not one life was ever saved from that declaration. • 20. Advertisement Advertisements For Women s Advertising KEEP IT REAL JUST FOR ONCE Nowadays, companies spend billions of dollars in search of customers for the companies products. As a result, the necessity of target advertising can t be underestimated. After all, women had no reason to purchase a $50000 necklace until Pandora proposed the tagline, your jewelry isn t just jewelry, in its latest advertisement in Cosmopolitan Magazine (Pandora. If it s not the glossy pink or red lips, then it ll either be the artificial eye lashes, the dyed hair, or sexy stare that hangs on the pages of magazines and postal on bill boards. While advertisements attempt to convince us that all women are supposed to look pretty, be looked at and be seductive, in reality, this is unwarranted. As careful analysis of three ads targeting at women in Advertisement Cosmopolitan 2015 indicate, advertisements , in attempt to catch patrons , have besmirched the ideologies about women s prototype by stereotypically exaggerating the relevance of physical beauty in them. In 1855 the poem had no title, in 1856 it was called A Poem of Walt Whitman an American and in 1860 it was changed to Walt Whitman . Finally in 1881, Whitman changed the title of the poem to Song of Myself. The changes with the name of the poem are important about indicating the growth of the meaning of the poem. In the poem, there are three major themes: the idea of the self, the identification of self within other selves, and the narrators relationship and connection with the elements of nature and the universe. The poem contains a central symbol that represents the divinity contained in all living things, and that symbol is grass. Whitman talks about the self a lot throughout the poem. The self is both individual and universal. Individual self is one that a man has, while the world has a universal self. The poet wishes to merge his individual self with the universal self. I ll be the first one to admit it: smart technology is making me dumb. People like me rely on smart technology for too many things: phone books, directions, new information, etc. Soon people will depend on it for everything. I believe smart technology will hijack our lives. Many daily chores are completed by the use of smart technology. For example, smart technology can be used for: setting an alarm clock, making phone calls, balancing a bank account, paying bills, checking e mails, doing homework, getting directions, etc. Many people take advantage of this. They may use their laptop, iPad, cellphone up to ten times a day to complete these tasks. I ll admit it, I have a favorite app myself. Pinterest! Esther is the story of the deliverance of the Jews from destruction and persecution from King Ahasuerus official named Haman. In this story, Esther shows great courage and devotion to her Jewish people, and even risks her own safety to help defend them against the wrongdoings of Haman. This story interests me most because it is a story about a woman s courage and strength that saved her people. When King Ahasuerus wife, Queen Vashti, refused the king s orders to appear before him in court to show the people and the officials her beauty, King Ahasuerus was enraged by her disobedience. The king s officials informed him that this disobedience set an example for the wives of the officials, and that they too would disobey if the king did not write a law stating that Queen Vashti could never again come before the king, and that her... • 35. The Casket Of Amontillado . Edgar Allan Poe’S “The Cask The Casket of Amontillado Edgar Allan Poe s The Cask of Amontillado is a short story illustrating how pride leads to the downfall of two men. At the story s heart is the tale of Montresor, the protagonist, getting revenge on a former friend, Fortunato. Poe s characterization of Montresor shows a sinister, proud man, obsessed not only with his revenge but also not getting punished himself. It must be a perfect revenge, one in which Fortunato will know fully what is happening to him and in which Montresor will be forever undetected (Morsberger 334). Poe s portrayal of Montresor and his revenge depends mainly on his use of three artistic tools: a first person narrative, dramatic irony, and symbolism. A brief examination of these three... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the carnival, when Montresor meets Fortunato and tells him about the amontillado, he states, As you are engaged, I am on my way to Luchresi, referring to Fortunato being inebriated. Fortunato insists that, Luchresi cannot tell Amontillado from Sherry (Poe 361). Knowing his victim s vanity, Montresor baits him by saying that some fools argue that Luchresi s taste is as fine as Fortunato s (Morsberger 334). The use of the first person narrative lets Poe change how readers view the characters. By telling the story through Montresor s point of view, readers never get the chance to hear Fortunato s side of the story, meaning one never discovers if Fortunato truly wronged Montresor. This prevents the reader from having sympathy for either character. Charles May says, The reader has no way of knowing what these thousand injuries and the mysterious insult are and thus can make no judgement about whether Montresor s revenge is justifiable (qtd. in Baraban para. 6). Third, and perhaps most importantly, the first person point of view lets the reader know ahead of time about Montresor s plan for revenge, setting up the use of irony in the story. A second tool Poe used in The Cask of Amontilladois dramatic irony. Poe used irony multiple times in this story, largely due to using the first person narrator. A major plot dynamic of Poe s great story is Montresor s menacing irony, and
  • 36. Conflict Resolution By Stephen R. Covey Conflict Resolution To win or not to win, that is the question...or is it? Stephen R. Covey suggests that it does not have to be a win lose scenario. Covey subscribes to a win win philosophy, Win win is a frame of mind and heart that constantly seeks mutual benefit in all human interactions (Covey, n.d.). When it comes to parent teacher conflicts, Covey s Win win approach is the best solution to deescalate frustrations and maintain positive relationships between the teacher, students, and parents. This paper will examine two conflict scenarios and determine which actions achieved a mutual beneficial outcome. In the first parent teacher conflict scenario, a mother storms into her son s classroom and demands if the teacher there is the one she is looking for. After his affirmation, she begins to vent her frustrations about an assignment that made her child bring a homeless man into her home. It is not long before the teacher cuts the parent off and condescendingly informs her he has no idea what she is talking about or who she is. As the mother angrily tells him it is about an assignment he gave her child, the teacher immediately jumps to the defensive. The teacher berates her communication with her child, uses sarcasm when explaining the assignment he gave out and the intent behind it, and made it known that he was not taking her concerns seriously as he suggested she put her complaints in a suggestion box. There were no win win resolutions made in this

One might look at the excessively wrinkled skin of the Chinese Shar Pei, the the flat face of a bulldog, or the low slung eyelids of a Bloodhound (PBS), and think, That can not be healthy. The fact of the matter is that these deformities are far from healthy. As the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) points out, the Shar Pei s skin (due to it s excessively wrinkled nature) is prone to skin infections, the Bloodhound s droopy eyes are practically magnets for eye infection, and the Bulldog s face is so squished that it can never breathe correctly. The realistic fiction novella Of Mice And Men by John Steinbeck explains the journey of two migrant farm workers. The main characters: Lennie and George are thrown at with many challenges they are forced to overcome, one being the time it takes place in. The story takes place during the Dust Bowl and Great Depression around 1938, which makes jobs even harder to come by because everyone wanted one. Lennie and George were kicked out of weed, and now work at a ranch in Soledad. At the new farm the friendship between Lennie and George becomes harder to maintain. The people on the farm are all different shapes, sizes, and are from different backgrounds, yet they all are very familiar with one concept: loneliness. The character most familiar with this concept is Crooks. In Of mice and men, John Steinbeck creates the isolated characterization of Crooks by describing how he looks, what he says, and his actions to emphasize the theme of loneliness that occurs throughout the book. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As found in by Hong et al. (2013a), firefighters are more likely to use hearing protection if their administrators encourage HPD use and use them while they work. Therefore, fire departments can prevent hearing loss by simply encouraging HPD use. In addition to supporting HPD use, fire departments should employ hearing conservation programs that include education programs on the risks of hearing loss and the benefits of HPD use as well as mandatory annual hearing screenings (Hong et al., 2013a; Meyer, 2012). Education programs and hearing screenings can help in the prevention of noise induced hearing loss in firefighters by identifying hearing losses early and informing firefighters of ways to avoid hearing loss before it occurs. Furthermore, fire departments can select gear and equipment that blocks or reduces noise, air conditioned or closed cab fire trucks to reduce driving with the windows down, and positioning siren on the front of the truck (Hong Samo, 2007). These measures will prevent noise induced hearing loss by reducing the amount of noise firefighters are exposed to. While fire departments are not required to implement hearing protection programs, the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) released four recommendations for reducing noise induced hearing loss in firefighters. These recommendations include noise emission

The first test ran was the Solubility Test, which was started by measuring 0.03g of the unknown substance. Next, measure out 60ml of distilled H2O and mix with 0.03g of unknown. Use a stirring rod to the substances were mixed together, and observations were made to see if the unknown dissolves. The use of a ionic solubilitychart was helpful when running this test. The next test that was conducted in this lab was the Anion/Cation Test. Within the Cation/Anion test the first experiment was done with the Ammonia Trial. Within this trial,1ml of 6M NaOH was needed along with 0.03g of the unknown compound, and 1ml of distilled H2O. The Ammonia Trial will have a chemical compound of NH4(X) + NaOH = NH3 + Na(X) + H2O, where X is the unknown anion. The first step of this trial was to mix the measured unknown with the H2O. Once the compound has dissolved, add the NaOH to the solution. By wafting over the solution determining if an ammonia smell is present, if so the unknown compound will contain ammonium. The trial was repeated three times and observations were recorded. The next Cation/Anion experiment that was conducted was the Halide Trial. This trial was conducted by taking 0.03g of unknown compound and creating a solution with 1ml of distilled H2O. Then, 1ml of 6M HNO3, and 1ml of 0.1M AgNO3 was added to the solution, and observations were made towards if a white precipitate was formed.
