On March 22, 1925 Tennessee passed the Butler Act. Making it unlawful in public schools to teach
any theory that denies the story of divine creation as taught by the Bible. But to teach instead that

anymore. Yes phones can be helpful when we are in a bad situation or have to get information to

not like the way in which it was written. To me it was written in a very scattered brain way,
similar to how a hyperactive childs diary would look like. At times when Dettwyler was trying to
explain something, she would go into tangents, mostly about her own personal opinions of the
topic, which ruined the mood of the book, lessened the impact of whatever she was talking about
at the time and frankly, it just annoyed me. I found it difficult to understand what was trying to
be said and it made it difficult to read. I think if she didn t try to cover so much in such a small

depicts the religious, political, and intellectual events in the city of Alexandria during the life of
Hypatia, a female philosopher. Since this film s primary goal is the entertainment of the audience
rather than accurate historical instruction, there are some fictitious or unproven details in the film
that give an erroneous impression of history to the common viewer. The movie gives a fair
representation of the turmoil within both pagan and Christian groups, but there is a slight bias
towards the antagonization of Christians. One way this prejudice takes shape is the film s failure
to fairly represent the role of St. Cyril of Alexandriaamidst these chaotic times as it relates to his
views on women in education, his involvement in the death of Hypatia, and the expulsion of the

whether or not the child will be involved in the learning process in a classroom setting. The student
must describe pictures and experiences. They must use appropriate verb tenses and grammar.

Analysis of the Point of View in Miss Brill
Katherine Mansfield s short story, Miss Brill, is a well written story of an elderly, unmarried
woman in Europe. In Miss Brill, Katherine Mansfield uses stream of consciousness point of view
to show alienation and loneliness, appearances and reality, and Miss Brill s perceptions as she
attempts to make herself fit in with the park goers. Miss Brill is an older lady who makes a
living teaching English to school children and reading newspapers to an old invalid gentleman
(Wilson 2: 139). Her joy in life comes in her visits to the park on Sunday where she is notorious
for sitting in on other people s lives (Wilson 2: 140). It is there that her ritualistic, monotonous
journey that Miss Brill refers to as a play takes place.
From the beginning of the story, it becomes apparent that Miss Brill is the epitome of the
definition of lonely. She starves to have just a little warmth and companionship. In the story, she
has a fur necklet that she tenderly caresses as if it were a pet that she rubs the life into the little
dim eyes (Mansfield 175). Loneliness in Miss Brill is also shown through the music in the park.
The loneliness is shown through her perception of how the music is like someone playing with
only the family to listen (Mansfield 175). The whole time, Miss Brill thinks of herself as part of
this family playing the music, but in reality she is just an on site observer. On this particular
Sunday, it was the first day of the Season so the band seemed louder and gayer (Mansfield 175).

women, especially those of the Asian American descent, have navigated through history. The novel

protagonist being a young Japanese American woman by the name of Jackie Ishida a 25 year old
