Comparing Herodotus And De Vaca s Writing Styles
A Comparison of Styles
Herodotus versus de Vaca Throughout the course of the world, there have been many great
civilizations that have risen and fallen from power. Many of these civilizations are remembered not
only through the texts or works that they themselves produced, but through the writings of later
historians. Herodotus was an example of a later historian, because he wrote about a civilization of
old, de Vaca was a historian of the moment because he covered a civilization as he experienced it.
The contrast in the two styles is plainly evident for the most part in the two literary pieces.
Herodotus has a very distinct style compared to de Vaca and as de Vaca s works came later it
can be assumed that he was partially influenced by Herodotus. The three main areas that
Herodotus and de Vaca s works differ are the time period in which they wrote their pieces, how
they regarded their subject matter, and who they were writing about. As before mentioned, one of
the biggest differences between Herodotus and de Vaca is the time period in which they wrote their
pieces. Herodotus was a later historian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Herodotus was writing his passage mainly on the Egyptian people, but he did have references to his
native people the Greeks. De Vaca mainly covered the Avavares, a tribe in modern day Texas who
existed from 1527 1534 according to most historians. The Avavares were short lived as they
were often conquered by more powerful tribes in their area, where the Egyptians were the ones
who were often doing the conquering in the Middle East. The two subjects themselves could not
be more different as the Egyptians owned slaves and the Avavares ended up as slaves. Because of
this discrepancy, there can be no mistaking who is who in the two passages. Herodotus and de
Vaca come from similar backgrounds, but the backgrounds of their two chosen subjects could not

Life Lessons Learned
What s a lesson you have learned in your life? Well, you have probably learned more than one
lesson in your life, and I definitely learn lessons everyday, but one that has stuck with me is that
Jesus is the only perfect person, and that I shouldn t feel like I am lacking perfection, because it
isn t possible. I can still strive for it, but I won t get all the way there. Some people may find that
discouraging, but I find that an encouragement. That is because I know that when I fail, I will
know that I almost did something impossible. Other people might see that I m saying that they will
fail, and they will. The truth can hurt, but I am (mostly) an honest person. I wouldn t lie about this,
and you just need to accept it, no one can be perfect, only Jesus. Reading the Holy Biblehas taught
me many things. One of my favorite verses is 2 Samuel 22:31, As for God, his way is perfect; the
LORD S word is flawless; he shields all that take refuge in him. I had a bad day, and opened to a
random verse, and found this. One day in fourth grade we had SBAC testing and I had decided
to take my Bible to school to read after I finished, seeing as I usually finished before the end of
the day. It was a little bit after 10 o clock, and Mr. Porter had given us a break. I was by myself
sitting in the grass near the backstop on the west side of the field. I was having a bad day, being
told I was worthless, so I took my Bible outside and opened my Bible to a random place and
started reading. I smelled the grass and felt it under me. The warm May air hugged me like a
comforting parent. The grass was slightly wet and the book was heavy in my my hands, the
design on the front cover was cool under my fingertips. My fuzzy jacket and sweatpants against
my waist and legs. I heard the kids playing around me and the wind whistling through my ears.
The pages are thin in my hands as I open to a random place and start reading, seeing only the
words. I hear a whistle blown by Mr. Porter, and stand up, feeling the familiar tingle when my legs
have fallen asleep.
Have you ever gone to summer camp? Well, if you haven t, I would suggest it. It is a few in a

Leisure And Leisure Activities
This study investigated if there was a connection between gender, leisure activity, and morality. The
researchers interviewed over a thousand men and women and gathered what leisure activities they
did. The leisure activities reported were categorized into one of the twelve categories. Some of
those categories are the following: reading books, cultural activities, fishing, restaurant visits, and
choir singing. Since the researchers were interested in how those activities affected mortality and
their connection with gender, certain measures of functional status (disease etc.) were factored so
it did not affect the rate of mortality. The results found that the more activities women participated
in, the lower their mortality. A correlation between women and lower mortality was also tied to
engagement in organizational activities and study circles (Agahi et al., 855). Men, however, had
lower mortality rates associated with doing hobby activities and gardening (Agahi et al., 1). Men
tended to benefit from solitary activities, but women did not (Agahi et al., 857). Women benefited
from social participation so every activity done lowered their mortality a little. Overall women
benefit from leisureactivities more than men, because men has a stronger correlation between
mortality and health indicators (Agahi et al.,866). We can use the information found to better plan
for programs. This study allows us to be aware of the type of programs the older adults could be

When most people think about sociology they generally think of the study of sociology. However,
sociology is much deeper than just the study of sociology. It displays a plethora of sub topics such
as: crime, deviance, bureaucracy, culture, criminality, socialization, economy, politics, religion,
education, social class and many more. Throughout this fall semester this sociology course has
taught me things that I could never imagine. To be more specific there were actually ten topics that
I learned in this course that was very important to me. Those topics were: crime, deviance,

Shortly after the modernization time period there becomes a development of key ideas
/ sociological ideas from Auguste Comte, Karl Marx, and Emile Durkheim. The most interesting
thing about learning their key ideas were and where they originated. August Comte obtained the
key ideas of the Renaissance and the formation of a good society that consisted of a good society
of exploitation, poverty, inequality, and degradation.Karl Marx s key ideas were composed of the
mode of production, class systems, bourgeoisie, the rise of socialism and communism, capitalist
system and the working class. Make a comparison of the sociology of Karl Marx and Max Weber.
Give examples. Karl Marx and Max Weber had different views and perspectives on society. For
example, Karl Marx believed that the capitalist system of society would disintegrate due to the
revolt of the working class. However, Max Weber preferred the study of social and rational
action, he thought social action was meaningful. Max also speculated that capitalism is a
constellation of social actions. The major sociological ideas of Emile Durkheim were: collective
consciousness, social facts, and industrial society. In the industrial society he believed that there
would have been more crime and deviance because of the breakdown for the balance between
moral absolutism and individual freedom.Durkheim s theory on egoistic suicide was based on a
society where excessive individualism and low social

The Determinants Of Women Participation
5.4 Determinants of Women Participation in SACCOs.
Women s equal participation in cooperatives is both a women s right and important for sustainable
and people centered development. If cooperatives are gender responsive and inclusive, they can
help women to overcome gender specific constraints to improve their self confidence, knowledge,
leadership skills, income, and access to agricultural inputs, social networks, and position in value
chains. When women are more economically and socially empowered, evidence shows that there
are direct and positive impact on women s household and community decision making power and
on access to and control over productive assets. These changes lead to improved household
nutrition, food and income security, broader development outcomes, and a more integrated
production of both food and cash crops (Qui sumbing, 2003; FAO, 2011; CSA and ICF
International, 2012).
The success of cooperative is strongly related to the target group and member participation (Tips,
1986; Yu, 2009). Member s commitment to working together and the sense of trust and mutual
respect between the managers and members are also important factors (Fulton, 2004). Despite the
availability of cooperative societies and efforts of government at all levels, a significant proportion
of rural women are either unaware of the existence of such co operatives or lacking the basic socio
economic characteristics that form the prerequisite for participation in such activities (Idrisa et

Race for Nuclear Arms and Power
Race for Nuclear Arms and Power
Harry Truman (1884 1972) was the most influential person in the race for the super bomb. As
President Roosevelt s Vice President, he knew nothing about the development of the atomic bomb.
But within months of assuming the office of President of the United States on April 12, 1945, he
became the first and only American leader to authorize the use of atomic weapons against an
enemy target. Truman s era only marked the beginning of the race for nuclear weapons. The
development of nuclear weapons is still an issue today, decades after Truman left office.

awarded him the 1938 prize for physics. At Columbia ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The scientists underestimated the size of the explosion because they thought it would yield the
equivalent of 5 million tons of TNT, but in fact, Bravo yielded 15 megatons making it more than
a thousand times bigger than the bomb dropped on Hiroshima.(9) The blast gouged a crater about
a mile wide in the reef. Within seconds the fireball was nearly three miles in diameter and was
visible for almost one minute on Rongerik, an island 135 miles east of the burst.
About an hour and a half later a gritty, snow like substance began raining down on a Japanese
fishing vessel called the Lucky Dragon that was about 80 miles east of Bikini. When the 23
fishermen returned to port two weeks later they were all suffering severe radiation sickness and
their radio operator later died. In 1955, the United States paid two million dollars as restitution
for damage to the Lucky Dragon, its 23 members and its cargo after negotiations with Japanese
officials. Marshall Islanders were also exposed to the fallout considering that a few hours after
the explosion, radioactive fallout began to drop on the people, into the drinking water, on the
food, and into the hands of children who were playing with it.(10) As of December 31, 1997,

Don t give up . Every ten feet or so I would look ahead and mark a tree in the distance and say to

Impacts Of The Great Depression
What was the Great Depression and what impact did it have? The Great Depression was the worst
economic situation known to man. It started in the late 1920s, 1929 1939 to be exact. It was the
very first severe depression ever encountered to our world. The impacts it had was that the stock
market crashed harshly, there was bank failures, and the government couldn t do much about it. Its
not until Franklin D. Roosevelttook charge and created a New Deal, unlike the previous president,
Hubert Hoover, he let our economy be in a complete state of depression.

Sports and amusement parks were a great way of distraction but many couldn t afford it since
they were unemployed. No need to worry, those whom couldn t afford it, they would play
miniature golf, softball, pinball machines, and the new board game Monopoly. The most popular
distraction was listening to the radio and to the theaters. The most familiar film was The Wizard

In conclusion, the 1920s 1930s were very pessimistic and it had collateral damage. It tore people

The Policy Behind the Welfare Reform Act
The Welfare Reform Act of 1996 was enacted in order to change the current welfare policy at the
time. This welfare policy that existed was originally meant to provide financial assistance as
well as decent healthcare coverage during times of economic hardship (Kaestner, 2004). This
policy was implemented as a way to help hundreds of thousands of families overcome financial
hurdles. However, the idea behind the reforming of welfare was to avoid the stereotypical
individuals that lived off of welfare to continue doing so. Evidence existed that concluded that
people who lived off of government welfare assistance were actually allowing this system to
destroy their desire to work and sustain themselves (Rector Marshall, 2013). Welfare was seen
as a detrimental part of the government and it was viewed as feeding into a lazy and poorly
disciplined class of individuals. Welfare s initial intention was to aid widows who had children
to support, but in a matter of decades the entire welfare system converted from being a safety net
for individuals in dire times of need, to a support system for able bodied men who lacked
motivation to find employment and sustain themselves and their families (Rector Marshall, 2013).
The Welfare Reform Act came as a way to remedy these problems. Stipulations were put on those
applying to receive welfare benefits. Limits were enacted that would reduce the amount of time that
people could receive the benefits in order to speed up their

Herbert Hoover And The Great Depression
In the 1920s, Americans were trying to figure out what was everyone s role in society. During this
time women started to take on bigger jobs then housekeeping and African Americans are finally
standing up for their race. Once 1929 hit, Herbert Hoover, America s newest president, was viewed
as an American Superhero at that time because of everything he promised society; however,
America gets hit by the Great Depressionleaving society in a hole. While banking systems were
unstable and overproduction were leaving people bankrupt, Herbert Hoover was blaming Europe
and was failing to keep society financially stable. As his presidency went on, filmmakers made
film cycles and gangster pictures like Little Caesar that portrayed America s corrupt society during
the Great Depression. By the end of his campaign, Hoover was known as the worst American ever
which led to the rising of Franklin D. Rooseveltin 1933. Roosevelt saw the struggling society as an
opportunity to help his campaign in which he created the New Deal. America was given an
opportunity that allowed them to look forward to the future. During Herbert Hoover s presidency,
America did not support the federal government, but after Franklin D. Roosevelt ran for president
and promised a New Deal, they began to look more favorably on the government. Herbert Hoover

Mail has been around since the beginning of the United States and was once the number one way

The USPS needs to give itself a makeover to make it compatible with the needs and wants of

A Comparison Of Love In The Birthmark And Feathertop By...
Love is a mysterious feeling that varies for each relationship. Some relationships have a very deep
love, where the only thing that matters is personality. In these relationships, the people have a
strong emotional bond because it doesn t matter what visual flaws the person has; the connection
keeps them close. A surface deep relationship lacks this connection, and will not last. Once
someone in a surface deep relationship finds a simple flaw, they will not be able to overcome that
flaw and the relationship will deteriorate. Nathaniel Hawthorne had a beautiful wife named Sophia,
and he loved her dearly. In Hawthorne s first journal entry, he wrote that Sophia was the only

Similarities Between Roger And Me By Emile Durkheim
General Motors, booming and blooming, the largest corporation in the world took place in
Flint, Michigan. For so long, GM was a major function of the community socially and
economically. Suddenly, General Motors CEO Roger Smith took action, then terminated several
plantations in Flint as well as thousands of jobs. For this reason, Michael Moore made it his
mission to record the consequences of closing the GM plants in Flint. As well as his quest to
talk to the GM chairman, Roger Smith, in the movie Roger and Me. In this essay, using
Durkheim s perspective and Roger and Me, we will analyze how the division of labor can
functionally shape a society within a certain period of time. Significantly, Emile Durkheim was one
of the three major theoretical thinkers of sociology. In effect, the functionalism perspective derives
from the analyses of Emile Durkheim. The functionalist perspective is molded by different parts
working together. As an expert in studying the social phenomenon, Durkheim, in his book The

Death Of A Salesman And The American Dream
The United States in the mid twentieth century was a time of change. In the 1960 s the civil rights
and women s rights were in their embryonic stages. All of these ideas coming together created the
illusion of The American Dream. Back then; the American dream was equated with freedom and
material prosperity, two concepts that ring true today. The definition of the American dream
changes as society in the United Stateschanges, and the connotation and reality of the American
Dream is disheartening. Two literary compositions give a realistic outlook on what the American
Dream really is. In Death of a Salesman and The American Dream, Arthur Miller and Edward Albee
masterfully relay the true nature and ideologies of The American Dream. In theory, the
American Dream is the idea that every person residing in the United States of America should
live a richer and fuller life, regardless of the class one is born in. It is not a dream about cars,
high wages, and a picket fence. The idea, for it to work, is supposed to be that every man and
woman in this beautiful country has the ability to gain the highest class in their ability regardless
of their previous background. The ability to achieve such high success is based on academic
success and hard work. In current times, it seems the American Dream has become a pursuit of
material objects. Citizens of the United States work countless hours to be able to afford bigger cars,
better homes, and the newest technologies. On the surface,

Vertebrate Compare And Contrast
What is a chordate? How are vertebrates different from chordates: Chordates are the beginning of
the vertebrate phylum, they have a long flexible rod called a notochord, pharyngeal clefts, and
muscular tails. The notochord runs between the digestive tract and dorsal nerve, the chord is
made from stiff tissue and fluid filled cells. Vertebrates are still chordates, but they do not have a
notochord, the notochord forms into vertebrae and the spine later in the development of the
embryos. Compare and contrast the ways that fungi eat with the ways that animals digest, and

Defining Change Essay
Defining Change
Change can be defined as an event that occurs when something passes from one state or phase to
another, the result of alteration or modification, to lay aside, abandon, or leave for another,
become different in essence; to lose one s or its original nature, to make different; cause a
transformation, or to make or become different in some particular way, without permanently losing
one s or its former characteristics or essence. There are many different views as to the complexity
of change. Some may believe change is an illusion and nothing ever really changes. However, the
majority, such as the post structuralism theorists, believe that change is inevitable. Change can be

Also, our political world would not be the same. How would we advance in our associations with
other countries, if not for the effects of change? Our government, our laws, our beliefs would not
have changed from those of our early ancestors. Hence, it is visible that without change our society
would be stuck in a rut with no way to advance and improve.
Roland Barthes was interested in the way that signifiers words which are derived of meaning
unless associated with an image or object were related to each other (intertextuality) and the way
they reflect the context and culture from which they came. He believed that no text can stand alone
as an isolated work. Rather they echo and reflect each other. Thus, he said, we should never do
author centered studies and wrote of the Death of the Author . Rather, he stated that we should look
at a text in its relation to other texts. Barthes ideas led to Post structuralism.
Structuralists believed that meaning in literature could be determined by studying the language
structures the signs or signifiers which represented ideas within a particular culture e.g. white as a
sign or symbol of purity or innocence. Post Structuralists, however, argued that meaning can never
be fully understood because the cultural ideas represented by those signs are themselves
constructed by a society rather than

INTRODUCTION
A few years ago, 13 year old Tavaris Knight was convicted by a criminal court jury in Tampa,
Florida, of kidnapping and raping a 43 year old woman. Prosecutors proved that Knight, who
was 12 at the time of the offense, had used a silver toy gun to force the woman away from her
four young children at a playground and into the surrounding woods. Knight raped the woman
twice and beat her with the gun, which he left behind.2 Knight s case had been transferred to
adult criminal court because of the serious nature of his crimes. In closing arguments, prosecutor
Michael Sinacore pointed to Knight, saying, That young man is not a child. He stopped being a
child when he forced [his victim] into the woods and raped her. 3 Following conviction, Knight
was sentenced to 15 years in prison by Florida Circuit Judge Jack Espinosa, Jr. Knight will likely
be held at a youth facility for sexual offenders until he is 21, at which time he could be transferred
to another youth offender facility until the age of 25, followed by adult prison.4 Crimes committed
by preteens are not that unusual. In 2005, for example, a nine yearold girl,

The Nicene Creed Essay
The Nicene Creed is the creed or profession of faith that was adopted in the city of Nicaea by the
first ecumenical council, which met there in the year 325. At that time, the text ended after the
words We believe in the Holy Spirit , after which an anathema was added. The doctrine of the
Trinityis commonly expressed as: One God, three Persons , but this word Trinity does not appear
in the Bible. So the doctrine is formally defined in the Nicene Creed, which declares Jesus to be:
God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God, begotten, not made, being of one substance
with the Father. in 325, the Council of Nicea set out to officially define the relationship of the Son
to the Father, in response to the controversial teachings of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Even during numerous exiles, Athanasius continued to be a vigorous defender of Nicene
Christianity against Arianism. Athanasius then famously said Athanasius against the world . The
Cappadocian Fathers also took up the torch; their Trinitarian discourse was influential in the
council at Constantinople.Up until about 360, theological debates mainly dealt with the Divinity
of Jesus, the 2nd person of the Trinity. However, because the Council of Nicaea had not clarified
the divinity of the Holy Spirit, the 3rd person of the Trinity, it became a topic of debate.
The council affirmed the original Nicene Creed of faith as true and an accurate explanation of
Scripture. This council also developed a statement of faith which included the language of
Nicaea, but expanded the discussion on the Holy Spirit to combat the heresy of the
Pneumatomachi. It is called the Nicene Creed of 381 and was a commentary on the original
Nicene formula. It expanded the third article of the creed dealing with the Holy Spirit, as well as
some other changes. About the Holy Spirit the article of faith said he is the Lord, the Giver of
Life, Who proceeds from the Father, With the Father and the Son he is worshipped and glorified .
The statement of proceeding from the Father is seen as significant because it established that the
Holy Spirit must be of the same being as God the Father.
ESSAY 3
The second and third century African theologian Tertullian took exception to this widespread
doctrine.

Charles Tilly s State Making
Charles Tilly (1929 2008) is a former sociologist and political scientist who introduced the idea of
state making through state makers in global politics. Charles Tilly argued that state making is the
process by which state makers eliminate other hostile or adverse powerful men within a given
territory. State makers are the power holders in society such as kings or landowners . In Bringing
the State Back (Tilly, Charles. 172) Tilly argues that states are formed through a capricious and
unintentional process by which state makers enforce war in the pursuit of territory, human
population and scarce resources. Tilly says that state makers did not take part in the pivotal and
costly tasks of war making, extraction and capital accumulation with a mind setof ultimately
forming a state. Rather, Tilly argued that the pursuit of resources for war making, capital
accumulation and extraction was required to gain territory, money and human population. Tilly
describes capital accumulation as the process of investing money into warfare in return for future
profits or benefits. Lastly, Tilly defines extraction as acquiring means such as population, money or
weaponry to carry out the initial war making process. Modern day rebel militant forces such as
ISIS and the Talibansupport Tilly s explanation of state making, however ISIS challenges the aspect
of unintentional state making, as it ultimately envisages the emergence of a state once the war
making is over.

The Goals And Philosophy Of Art
Goals and Philosophy:
Visual Merchandisers have many employment options available in many different sectors. I
believe that displays are all encompassing. It is the little details that culminate a theme or feel
that makes customers want to shop at a particular store and have a certain type of experience
depending on who they are. It is all about making an environment whether a store, a party, a
home, etc. as inviting and welcoming as possible. I strongly believe that there is so much
inspiration out there that can be used to create compelling store displays that provoke consumers
to shop and help maximize a store s profits. This is an interesting field where not only are artistic
skills necessary, but also the ability to merchandise the sales floor and make every visual aspect of
a store experience enjoyable.
My art is inspired by popular culture, the work of other artists in similar fields, and the work of
surrealist artists. The prospect of being able to have a job that comprises of creativity and a
unique perspective motivates me to pursue a career in art and design. I want to be able to have a
job that I feel is rewarding and where each day is somewhat different from the next which is
possible with visual merchandising because retail is always changing visually to keep up with trends

Birth Defects Essays
Birth Defects
No one is immune to birth defects, yet not everyone is equally susceptible.
Birth defects are not merely a medical problem. They have profound effects on the social and
psychological well being of their family and friends.
In the normal course of fetal development, cells migrate to their appropriate destination so that
organs and limbs form where they should. Usually, the genes perform flawlessly, but mistakes can
and do occur. Some of the most common birth defects results from the interaction between one or
two abnormal genes out of 100,000 that make up who we are. This is caused by the genes parents
pass on or effected by drugs and alcohol upon the fetus of a new born child. Down s syndrome, the

Cultural Reflection
Prior to taking this course, I had put very little thought into my culture let alone grappled with the
fact that culture is far more complex than something that we simply have. Early in the semester we
touched upon the fact that culture is, in actuality, much more nuanced and is something practiced
and experienced differently on every scale and in every interaction throughout every person s
lifetime. Upon completion of the course, an investigation into my own culturewill exemplify just
that. First, looking at historical, cultural and family background, I will examine how my
position within my unique family has shaped how I approach the world around me. Here I will
tie in an especially personal element that I feel shapes many parts of my cultural identity being
the fact that I am adopted. Next, an examination of the significance of travel, migration, and
languages in my life builds on tradition, but reflects an identity that I have recently taken on as an
independent young adult outside of how I was raised. Then, I will touch upon how nationality and
religion have been significant in my cultural socialization. I will look at how I grapple with my
nationality, and how generational pressures have led to conflicts resulting in growth, development,
and meaningful choices. Finally, looking closely at some of my most valued friendships, as well
as the nature of my broader social life and life goals, I will argue that they largely reflect elements
mentioned earlier, especially

Essay on Real World Exposure and CVA Simulation
Real world exposure and CVA simulation
The risk neutral approach assumes that asset prices follow stochastic process with drift coinciding
with the short rate r(t) being risk free interest rate. dS(t)=S(t)[rdt+Пѓ(S(t),t) гЂ–dWгЂ—^Q (t)]
Instead, in real world measure they follow more complex process, which embodies time and risk
aversion of investors, namely: dS(t)=S(t)[Ој(S(t),t)dt+Пѓ(S(t),t) гЂ–dWгЂ—^R (t)] or,
equivalently, a process with real world stochastic discount factors which depend on risk free
interest rates but also on asset prices itself.
The form of this process with almost arbitrary process s drift term complicates the implementation;
for example, makes it difficult in practice to simulate asset prices through standard analytic or ...

Below we outline this straightforward and well known implementation methodology yet we further
enhance it to join real world simulation specifics with the evident benefits of risk neutral American
Monte Carlo pricing.
Under real world measure there is a problem of defining an appropriate form of the market price
of risk, or the drift terms in the equation above. In practice, one uses historical data for all
coupled risk factors as a source to make model assumptions on the market price of risk, then
calibrate real world stochastic process with corresponding drift terms. Note that for real world
simulation one needs a real world evolution of the whole yield curve to incorporate realistic risk
perception of market participants and not just a few principal yield curve components as it often
happens in risk neutral simulation.
There is a large number of approaches to evolve real world yield curves including non , semi or
parametric ones based on historical data as the primary source of real world model calibration. In
general, their common feature is that they preserve historical quote patterns and statistical
properties including the following important ones: historical unconditional moments of 1 day or
many day normal or lognormal changes for all yield

The Conflict Between Honor And Glory In Homer s Iliad
Homer s Iliad presents a conflict between fighting to gain honor for oneself while also being
committed to others in the larger community. Honor and glory primarily drove the characters in the
Iliad, while each character s individual circumstances determined the influence of the larger
community in their actions. Both the Greeksand the Trojans, despite fighting with each other, share
in this struggle and find their own balance. Agamemnon is driven almost entirely by glory and
selfishness, Achillesby honor but also a commitment to his friendship with Patroclus, and Hector by
both glory and a commitment to his family.
Agamemnon, the leader of the Achaean army, values his own honor more than anything. Only
wanting the pride of war, he is not fully committed to the Greek army and values himself more
than the lives of his soldiers. After defeating the Trojan city of Chryse, Agamemnon claims
Chryses daughter, Chryseis, as his slave. Chryses brings a ransom to reclaim her, but
Agamemnon refused to return his prize. Unfortunately for the Greek army, Chryses is a priest
for the god Apollo, who gets revenge on the Greek army by killing the Greeks and their animals.
Agamemnon is the cause for the death of soldiers in his own army through his refusal to return
Chryseis. Agamemnon is rather infuriated with the idea that he could cause the disaster striking
his army, considering himself blameless. Instead of accepting blame for what he is responsible
for, Agamemnon chooses to insult the prophet who reveals the fact that Agamemnon is
responsible. He almost refuses to believe when the prophet Calchas declares him to be the cause
of the plague, saying that Calchas is uttering oracles before the Greeks, telling us that your great
ballistic god is giving us all this trouble because I was unwilling to accept the ransom for Chryses
daughter but preferred instead to keep her in my tent! And why shouldn t I? (1:117 121). Giving
up a prize won in battle is dishonorable, and Agamemnon finds himself worthy of honor on the
basis of his position. His personal value of honor leads Agamemnon to believe he is deserving of
whatever he desires, no matter who suffers as a result. It is important to note that Agamemnon is at

We have become disillusioned and no longer expect the world to become a better place.
Metranarratives have partly been discredited because, in an era of global media in which we learn
more and more about other peoples beliefs and lifestyles, it becomes less and less possible to
regard one lifestyle or one belief system as the true one .
Dominic Strinati
Strinati suggests that, post modern TV and film become preoccupied merely with surface style
and imagery, rather than deeper underlying themes, which might relate to the realities of the
human condition. Action blockbuster movies dwell on special effects, rather than strong plots
and TV drama departs from realist plots of the 1960 s (which attempted to look at serious issues
such as homelessness, Cathy Come Home and embraces a surreal world in which reality is often
confused; For example, Twin Peaks, or more recently The X Files and American Gothic. Kaplan
(1987) identified pop and rock videos as perfect examples of post modernist culture because they
abandon all notion of narrative structure there is no attempt to tell a story , rather the power of the
rock video lies purely in the collage of images mixed with music.

Shopping Networks And The Online Retail Community
Each day ,retailers face emerging risks that threaten the sustainability and profitability of their
companies. As shopping becomes more convenient for the average person ,the increase of online
purchases increases in this digital age. Since social media, shopping networks and the readiness of
smart devices enable unsavory individuals to take advantage of unsuspecting shoppers. Given this
fact it is essential that retailers rethink how they manage the riskto their enterprises. With the recent
disclosures about the enormous data breaches that occur within the online retail community it is
certain that a strong plan is needed by all companies. For example in 2014,Target, Nieman
Marcus, White Lodging, Sally Beauty, Michaels, Affinity Gaming (casinos), UPS, Home Depot
and even New York reported data breaches that involved the theft of credit or debit card
information of millions of consumers ( Hardekopf, 2015). One of the first things that must be
considered is the communication process because it is where the breakdown first begins. Having
strong polices that are followed to the letter is the beginning of setting up a risk management
framework. This is especially true when you consider that internal risk is growing as fast as
external. There are three categories that risk falls into as far as retail enterprises are concerned:
hazard, business and strategic. Each must be handled in its own unique way for it to be effective

Forecasting focuses on predicting the timing and quantity of customer demand. Capacity
Planning It is essential to accurately predict what products people are willing to purchase. If
there is not enough of something people will be angry and if there is too much of another thing
you are wasting money as a company. Location Another very important aspect of a successful
supermarket, location is important. You must be in an area with the correct demographic of
people to have success. Most people will not be willing to drive an hour to go grocery shopping.
Inventory Management The entire supermarket must be working closely on inventory
management so the perfect amount of inventory is always on hand. As I mentioned before, too
little of a product results in loss of sales and unhappy customers, but too much is a waste of
resources. Layout of Store A great layout is vital for success. Grocery shopping can sometimes
be tedious, so it is essential that the layout makes the process as easy as possible for a consumer.
If a customer is having trouble finding things then they might start shopping elsewhere. Also,
things that will spoil are usually in the back left of a store because that is where the customer will
finish shopping thus reducing the time the product will spend not being refrigerated. Scheduling A

always have fresh products and the right people

When deciding if a patient is a good candidate for surgery, a number of considerations need to be
taken. Can the patient safely undergo the surgery? Will the benefits of this surgery outweigh the
negatives? For instance, if a patient is elderly, is it worth the financial, emotional, and physical
cost to undergo the surgery? Dentists must be aware of what potentially can occur and what
precautions must be taken to minimize risk. (Petranker, Nikoyan, Ogle, 2012, p. 163). In all cases,

Occasionally tissue forceps are used to insure the tissue is closed during suturing. A needle is used
to penetrate overlying soft tissue with the addition of sutures. The needles most often used in this
type of surgery are curved. The curvature of the instrument allows the operator to cleanly sure up
the area without intrusion of the underlying bone. The needle point should be a cutting type so the
needle s journey through the mucosa is smooth. A needle driver holds the curved needle and
insures proper angulation and penetration of tissue. Once the suture is through, ends of the suture
are used to create a proper surgeon s knot. The tied suture should be snug against the tissue, not
too tight and not too loose, so that proper healing is accentuated. Once tied, the suture ends are cut
with a suture scissor. Sutures may either be interrupted or continuous. The simple interrupted
suture is the most universal technique used for wound closure. Both absorbable and non

Introduction:
The Beta vulgaris craca plant, commonly referred to as the beet root contains a pigment, red in
colour, called betacyanin. The betacyanin s containment within the cells of the beet root cell relies
on the stability of the plant s membrane structure. The manipulation of the cell s membranes
through temperature change and solution treatments often causes damage to the vacuoles within the
cell which contain betacyanin. Poovaiah and Leopold released a similar scientific publication in

Materials and Methods:
To obtain the standard curve for betacyanin, a spectrophotometer was used to measure the
absorbance level of the various concentrations of betacyanin within the water solvent. The beet root
was cut up into tiny 5mm uniformed disks to allow for the maximum leakage per test tube.
In order to observe the effects of the various temperature manipulations, the test was performed six
times at various temperatures. For this test the beets were placed into separate non permeable

Examples Of Paradiso In Dante s Divine Comedy
Paradise or Paradiso was the final book as well as the final part in Dante s Divine Comedy series.
Through this book we are taken on a journey through heaven where Dante is guided by Beatrice as
he makes his way through the nine spheres of heaven which consist of the moon, mercury, venus,
the sun, mars, jupiter, saturn, and the primum mobile. Through these nine spheres Dante meets new
people and remarkable people who had a major impact on history at some point in time. The first
three spheres talk about are all associated with things Fortitude, Justice, and Temperance and the
next ones are Love. Faith, and Hope, and charity. All of these represent something important the
moon represents the inconstant and Beatrice explains to Dante the reasons... Show more content on

In the third sphere Dante is on Venus and which has the the morning and evening star which is
associated with the Goddess Of Love and Dante makes this the planet of lovers. As Dante goes
through this sphere he meets Charles Martel Of Anjou who Dante knew he points out to Dante
that a functioning society requires a different variety of people and the definition of these
differences are told by Cunizza da Romano who is the lover Sordello who is in heaven. Dante hears
Folquet de Marseilles speak on temptations of love and speaks about how the cone of earth s
surface touches Venus he also goes on to bash the city of Florence which he claims was created

which had no change to it s style, texture, or design and was the reason for the corruption of the
Church which was probably due to the value of money and the fact that the clergy accepted money
from Satan over the bigger picture that bigger picture being our Lord Jesus Christ as well as
scripture and the writings of the Church of

Becoming A Corrections Officer
Corrections Officer Have you ever thought about making a difference in people s lives? Or even
turning people s lives around completely? Well that s exactly what corrections officers do. Some
people might not think that corrections officers are actually there to help the inmates they
oversee but a lot of them are in the business to help. The way they help is by trying their best to
keep the inmates safe no matter how foul or rude they are to the authorities. They also tend to be
some of the most caring individuals in the world even if they do receive backlash from inmates.
There are a lot of people in the business of helping to turn people s lives around, but being a
corrections officeris one of the best jobs out there for helping people... Show more content on

Yes, they do have to break up the occasional scuffle between inmates but they also have to make
sure they re fed, and housed properly, along with making sure that they have no contraband in
their cells. Contraband in jails can be drugs or weapons that were smuggled in illegally. The
reason CO s or Correction Officer s have to do contraband searches is because they can not have
any illegal items in their facility or else they can get in trouble for not seeing it or finding it.
During the searches they also have to make sure prisoners are not trying to escape and breaking
the bars to their windows. Obviously the correction officers need to check for a potential escape
route for inmates because some would much rather risk their lives and future freedom after their
sentence than to actually serve their sentence. People in jail spend all day in their cells or certain
allowed areas of the jail so they have time to scout the area and potentially devise a plan to escape,
but 9 times out of 10, their plans do not

  • 2. Comparing Herodotus And De Vaca s Writing Styles A Comparison of Styles Herodotus versus de Vaca Throughout the course of the world, there have been many great civilizations that have risen and fallen from power. Many of these civilizations are remembered not only through the texts or works that they themselves produced, but through the writings of later historians. Herodotus was an example of a later historian, because he wrote about a civilization of old, de Vaca was a historian of the moment because he covered a civilization as he experienced it. The contrast in the two styles is plainly evident for the most part in the two literary pieces. Herodotus has a very distinct style compared to de Vaca and as de Vaca s works came later it can be assumed that he was partially influenced by Herodotus. The three main areas that Herodotus and de Vaca s works differ are the time period in which they wrote their pieces, how they regarded their subject matter, and who they were writing about. As before mentioned, one of the biggest differences between Herodotus and de Vaca is the time period in which they wrote their pieces. Herodotus was a later historian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Herodotus was writing his passage mainly on the Egyptian people, but he did have references to his native people the Greeks. De Vaca mainly covered the Avavares, a tribe in modern day Texas who existed from 1527 1534 according to most historians. The Avavares were short lived as they were often conquered by more powerful tribes in their area, where the Egyptians were the ones who were often doing the conquering in the Middle East. The two subjects themselves could not be more different as the Egyptians owned slaves and the Avavares ended up as slaves. Because of this discrepancy, there can be no mistaking who is who in the two passages. Herodotus and de Vaca come from similar backgrounds, but the backgrounds of their two chosen subjects could not be any more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Life Lessons Learned What s a lesson you have learned in your life? Well, you have probably learned more than one lesson in your life, and I definitely learn lessons everyday, but one that has stuck with me is that Jesus is the only perfect person, and that I shouldn t feel like I am lacking perfection, because it isn t possible. I can still strive for it, but I won t get all the way there. Some people may find that discouraging, but I find that an encouragement. That is because I know that when I fail, I will know that I almost did something impossible. Other people might see that I m saying that they will fail, and they will. The truth can hurt, but I am (mostly) an honest person. I wouldn t lie about this, and you just need to accept it, no one can be perfect, only Jesus. Reading the Holy Biblehas taught me many things. One of my favorite verses is 2 Samuel 22:31, As for God, his way is perfect; the LORD S word is flawless; he shields all that take refuge in him. I had a bad day, and opened to a random verse, and found this. One day in fourth grade we had SBAC testing and I had decided to take my Bible to school to read after I finished, seeing as I usually finished before the end of the day. It was a little bit after 10 o clock, and Mr. Porter had given us a break. I was by myself sitting in the grass near the backstop on the west side of the field. I was having a bad day, being told I was worthless, so I took my Bible outside and opened my Bible to a random place and started reading. I smelled the grass and felt it under me. The warm May air hugged me like a comforting parent. The grass was slightly wet and the book was heavy in my my hands, the design on the front cover was cool under my fingertips. My fuzzy jacket and sweatpants against my waist and legs. I heard the kids playing around me and the wind whistling through my ears. The pages are thin in my hands as I open to a random place and start reading, seeing only the words. I hear a whistle blown by Mr. Porter, and stand up, feeling the familiar tingle when my legs have fallen asleep. Have you ever gone to summer camp? Well, if you haven t, I would suggest it. It is a few in a lifetime chance, and it can change your life. I went to a christian summer camp at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Leisure And Leisure Activities This study investigated if there was a connection between gender, leisure activity, and morality. The researchers interviewed over a thousand men and women and gathered what leisure activities they did. The leisure activities reported were categorized into one of the twelve categories. Some of those categories are the following: reading books, cultural activities, fishing, restaurant visits, and choir singing. Since the researchers were interested in how those activities affected mortality and their connection with gender, certain measures of functional status (disease etc.) were factored so it did not affect the rate of mortality. The results found that the more activities women participated in, the lower their mortality. A correlation between women and lower mortality was also tied to engagement in organizational activities and study circles (Agahi et al., 855). Men, however, had lower mortality rates associated with doing hobby activities and gardening (Agahi et al., 1). Men tended to benefit from solitary activities, but women did not (Agahi et al., 857). Women benefited from social participation so every activity done lowered their mortality a little. Overall women benefit from leisureactivities more than men, because men has a stronger correlation between mortality and health indicators (Agahi et al.,866). However, sociology is much deeper than just the study of sociology. It displays a plethora of sub topics such as: crime, deviance, bureaucracy, culture, criminality, socialization, economy, politics, religion, education, social class and many more. Make a comparison of the sociology of Karl Marx and Max Weber. Give examples. Karl Marx and Max Weber had different views and perspectives on society. For example, Karl Marx believed that the capitalist system of society would disintegrate due to the revolt of the working class. However, Max Weber preferred the study of social and rational action, he thought social action was meaningful. Max also speculated that capitalism is a constellation of social actions. The major sociological ideas of Emile Durkheim were: collective consciousness, social facts, and industrial society. In the industrial society he believed that there would have been more crime and deviance because of the breakdown for the balance between moral absolutism and individual freedom.Durkheim s theory on egoistic suicide was based on a society where excessive individualism and low social ... • 6. The Determinants Of Women Participation 5.4 Determinants of Women Participation in SACCOs. Women s equal participation in cooperatives is both a women s right and important for sustainable and people centered development. If cooperatives are gender responsive and inclusive, they can help women to overcome gender specific constraints to improve their self confidence, knowledge, leadership skills, income, and access to agricultural inputs, social networks, and position in value chains. When women are more economically and socially empowered, evidence shows that there are direct and positive impact on women s household and community decision making power and on access to and control over productive assets. These changes lead to improved household nutrition, food and income security, broader development outcomes, and a more integrated production of both food and cash crops (Qui sumbing, 2003; FAO, 2011; CSA and ICF International, 2012). The success of cooperative is strongly related to the target group and member participation (Tips, 1986; Yu, 2009). Member s commitment to working together and the sense of trust and mutual respect between the managers and members are also important factors (Fulton, 2004). Despite the availability of cooperative societies and efforts of government at all levels, a significant proportion of rural women are either unaware of the existence of such co operatives or lacking the basic socio economic characteristics that form the prerequisite for participation in such activities (Idrisa et ... • 14. The Policy Behind the Welfare Reform Act The Welfare Reform Act of 1996 was enacted in order to change the current welfare policy at the time. This welfare policy that existed was originally meant to provide financial assistance as well as decent healthcare coverage during times of economic hardship (Kaestner, 2004). This policy was implemented as a way to help hundreds of thousands of families overcome financial hurdles. However, the idea behind the reforming of welfare was to avoid the stereotypical individuals that lived off of welfare to continue doing so. Evidence existed that concluded that people who lived off of government welfare assistance were actually allowing this system to destroy their desire to work and sustain themselves (Rector Marshall, 2013). Welfare was seen as a detrimental part of the government and it was viewed as feeding into a lazy and poorly disciplined class of individuals. Welfare s initial intention was to aid widows who had children to support, but in a matter of decades the entire welfare system converted from being a safety net for individuals in dire times of need, to a support system for able bodied men who lacked motivation to find employment and sustain themselves and their families (Rector Marshall, 2013). The definition of the American dream changes as society in the United Stateschanges, and the connotation and reality of the American Dream is disheartening. Two literary compositions give a realistic outlook on what the American Dream really is. In theory, the American Dream is the idea that every person residing in the United States of America should live a richer and fuller life, regardless of the class one is born in. The doctrine of the Trinityis commonly expressed as: One God, three Persons , but this word Trinity does not appear in the Bible. So the doctrine is formally defined in the Nicene Creed, which declares Jesus to be: God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God, begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father. in 325, the Council of Nicea set out to officially define the relationship of the Son to the Father, in response to the controversial teachings of... Athanasius then famously said Athanasius against the world . The Cappadocian Fathers also took up the torch; their Trinitarian discourse was influential in the council at Constantinople.Up until about 360, theological debates mainly dealt with the Divinity of Jesus, the 2nd person of the Trinity. However, because the Council of Nicaea had not clarified the divinity of the Holy Spirit, the 3rd person of the Trinity, it became a topic of debate. The council affirmed the original Nicene Creed of faith as true and an accurate explanation of Scripture. This council also developed a statement of faith which included the language of Nicaea, but expanded the discussion on the Holy Spirit to combat the heresy of the Pneumatomachi. It is called the Nicene Creed of 381 and was a commentary on the original Nicene formula. It expanded the third article of the creed dealing with the Holy Spirit, as well as some other changes. About the Holy Spirit the article of faith said he is the Lord, the Giver of Life, Who proceeds from the Father, With the Father and the Son he is worshipped and glorified . The statement of proceeding from the Father is seen as significant because it established that the Holy Spirit must be of the same being as God the Father. ESSAY 3 The second and third century African theologian Tertullian took exception to this widespread doctrine. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 27. Charles Tilly s State Making Charles Tilly (1929 2008) is a former sociologist and political scientist who introduced the idea of state making through state makers in global politics. Charles Tilly argued that state making is the process by which state makers eliminate other hostile or adverse powerful men within a given territory. State makers are the power holders in society such as kings or landowners . In Bringing the State Back (Tilly, Charles. 172) Tilly argues that states are formed through a capricious and unintentional process by which state makers enforce war in the pursuit of territory, human population and scarce resources. Tilly says that state makers did not take part in the pivotal and costly tasks of war making, extraction and capital accumulation with a mind setof ultimately forming a state. Rather, Tilly argued that the pursuit of resources for war making, capital accumulation and extraction was required to gain territory, money and human population. Tilly describes capital accumulation as the process of investing money into warfare in return for future profits or benefits. Lastly, Tilly defines extraction as acquiring means such as population, money or weaponry to carry out the initial war making process. Modern day rebel militant forces such as ISIS and the Talibansupport Tilly s explanation of state making, however ISIS challenges the aspect of unintentional state making, as it ultimately envisages the emergence of a state once the war making is over. It is the little details that culminate a theme or feel that makes customers want to shop at a particular store and have a certain type of experience depending on who they are. It is all about making an environment whether a store, a party, a home, etc. as inviting and welcoming as possible. I strongly believe that there is so much inspiration out there that can be used to create compelling store displays that provoke consumers to shop and help maximize a store s profits. This is an interesting field where not only are artistic skills necessary, but also the ability to merchandise the sales floor and make every visual aspect of a store experience enjoyable. They have profound effects on the social and psychological well being of their family and friends. In the normal course of fetal development, cells migrate to their appropriate destination so that organs and limbs form where they should. Usually, the genes perform flawlessly, but mistakes can and do occur. Some of the most common birth defects results from the interaction between one or two abnormal genes out of 100,000 that make up who we are. This is caused by the genes parents pass on or effected by drugs and alcohol upon the fetus of a new born child. Down s syndrome, the most common genetic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 30. Cultural Reflection Prior to taking this course, I had put very little thought into my culture let alone grappled with the fact that culture is far more complex than something that we simply have. Early in the semester we touched upon the fact that culture is, in actuality, much more nuanced and is something practiced and experienced differently on every scale and in every interaction throughout every person s lifetime. Upon completion of the course, an investigation into my own culturewill exemplify just that. First, looking at historical, cultural and family background, I will examine how my position within my unique family has shaped how I approach the world around me. Here I will tie in an especially personal element that I feel shapes many parts of my cultural identity being the fact that I am adopted. Next, an examination of the significance of travel, migration, and languages in my life builds on tradition, but reflects an identity that I have recently taken on as an independent young adult outside of how I was raised. Then, I will touch upon how nationality and religion have been significant in my cultural socialization. I will look at how I grapple with my nationality, and how generational pressures have led to conflicts resulting in growth, development, and meaningful choices. Finally, looking closely at some of my most valued friendships, as well as the nature of my broader social life and life goals, I will argue that they largely reflect elements mentioned earlier, especially ... Below we outline this straightforward and well known implementation methodology yet we further enhance it to join real world simulation specifics with the evident benefits of risk neutral American Monte Carlo pricing. Under real world measure there is a problem of defining an appropriate form of the market price of risk, or the drift terms in the equation above. In practice, one uses historical data for all coupled risk factors as a source to make model assumptions on the market price of risk, then calibrate real world stochastic process with corresponding drift terms. Note that for real world simulation one needs a real world evolution of the whole yield curve to incorporate realistic risk perception of market participants and not just a few principal yield curve components as it often happens in risk neutral simulation. There is a large number of approaches to evolve real world yield curves including non , semi or parametric ones based on historical data as the primary source of real world model calibration. • 32. The Conflict Between Honor And Glory In Homer s Iliad Homer s Iliad presents a conflict between fighting to gain honor for oneself while also being committed to others in the larger community. Honor and glory primarily drove the characters in the Iliad, while each character s individual circumstances determined the influence of the larger community in their actions. Both the Greeksand the Trojans, despite fighting with each other, share in this struggle and find their own balance. Agamemnon is driven almost entirely by glory and selfishness, Achillesby honor but also a commitment to his friendship with Patroclus, and Hector by both glory and a commitment to his family. Agamemnon, the leader of the Achaean army, values his own honor more than anything. Only wanting the pride of war, he is not fully committed to the Greek army and values himself more than the lives of his soldiers. After defeating the Trojan city of Chryse, Agamemnon claims Chryses daughter, Chryseis, as his slave. Chryses brings a ransom to reclaim her, but Agamemnon refused to return his prize. Unfortunately for the Greek army, Chryses is a priest for the god Apollo, who gets revenge on the Greek army by killing the Greeks and their animals. Agamemnon is the cause for the death of soldiers in his own army through his refusal to return Chryseis. Agamemnon is rather infuriated with the idea that he could cause the disaster striking his army, considering himself blameless. Instead of accepting blame for what he is responsible for, Agamemnon chooses to insult the prophet who reveals the fact that Agamemnon is responsible. He almost refuses to believe when the prophet Calchas declares him to be the cause of the plague, saying that Calchas is uttering oracles before the Greeks, telling us that your great ballistic god is giving us all this trouble because I was unwilling to accept the ransom for Chryses daughter but preferred instead to keep her in my tent! And why shouldn t I? (1:117 121). Giving up a prize won in battle is dishonorable, and Agamemnon finds himself worthy of honor on the basis of his position. His personal value of honor leads Agamemnon to believe he is deserving of whatever he desires, no matter who suffers as a result. It is important to note that Agamemnon is at least ... As shopping becomes more convenient for the average person ,the increase of online purchases increases in this digital age. Since social media, shopping networks and the readiness of smart devices enable unsavory individuals to take advantage of unsuspecting shoppers. Given this fact it is essential that retailers rethink how they manage the riskto their enterprises. With the recent disclosures about the enormous data breaches that occur within the online retail community it is certain that a strong plan is needed by all companies. For example in 2014,Target, Nieman Marcus, White Lodging, Sally Beauty, Michaels, Affinity Gaming (casinos), UPS, Home Depot and even New York reported data breaches that involved the theft of credit or debit card information of millions of consumers ( Hardekopf, 2015). One of the first things that must be considered is the communication process because it is where the breakdown first begins. Having strong polices that are followed to the letter is the beginning of setting up a risk management framework. This is especially true when you consider that internal risk is growing as fast as external. There are three categories that risk falls into as far as retail enterprises are concerned: hazard, business and strategic. The betacyanin s containment within the cells of the beet root cell relies on the stability of the plant s membrane structure. The beet root was cut up into tiny 5mm uniformed disks to allow for the maximum leakage per test tube. In order to observe the effects of the various temperature manipulations, the test was performed six times at various temperatures. For this test the beets were placed into separate non permeable plastic bags and were then completely submerged in several water baths set at the temperatures of 25ВєC, 5ВєC, 25ВєC, 45ВєC, 65ВєC and 85ВєC for 2 minutes each.
