The Incident Of The Air Ticket Counter From Delta Airlines
It was a cold December night, the trees were rustling and the snow was falling. The Salekins
were ready to leave to the airport. The older siblings were arguing the young kids couldn t find
their stuff. Then all of a sudden the hour hand struck eight and everybody rushed to the car like
the scene from Home Alone. We were suppose to leave at 7:30p.m because the airport was one
hour away and our flight was at 9:00p.m. While we were driving we almost crashed with a old
blue truck that seemed like it had been through a lot. What happened was we were driving and as
my dad was accelerating, the truck just came out of no where and cut us off. What the heck! So we
arrived at the airport and when went to get our tickets the employee at the ticket... Show more

Most people want the window seat, but once you get there you realize how hard it is to get to
the bathroom.I got to sit in the middle, its not to close to the end but also not to close to the
walkway.Once everyone was settled I remembered I forgot my money at home. I remembered I
had not brought any of my money I was going to use in New York. I thought I would not be able
to buy any chocolate or snow globes to add to my collection. Luckily this wasn t a problem,
because I remembered my dad owned me twenty bucks. He owed me twenty bucks because he
borrowed it from me once to pay the grass cutter, because he had forgotten to get money from the
bank. I know it wasn t a lot, but I could still by a cheap ten dollar snow globe form a kiosk at the
mall. As I was watching a movie, it paused for an announcement. The pilot was telling us that our
departure would be delayed. When I heard this I started to cry. My brother beat me up as he
always does when he sees me cry, so I stopped. Finally after three hours we arrived to the JFK
International Airport. When we arrived to the airport we had a hard time finding our aunts and
cousins that were suppose to be there to pick us up. We were expecting to see two tall men and a
short lady. So we spent two hours searching for them around the airport. I did not mind this
because this gave me a opportunity to see all the cool stores and statues in the airport. Eventually
we found them in a Starbucks

Economic Impact Of The Earthquake
Earthquakes and Society
On January 12, 2010 a 7.0 earthquake struck the Republic of Haiti. This earthquake caused a large
amount of destruction and devastation. In order to understand this earthquake more in depth, it will
be discussed on how it affected the earth, the damages and death tolls, the economic impact, and the
permanent consequences.
Affecting the Earth
The earthquake happened about 15 miles southwest from the Haitian capital of Port au Prince at
4:35pm. The geology of Haiti consists of igneous rocks formed within a volcanic island arc. Haiti is
situated on the North American Plate and the Caribbean Plate is below. The Enriquillo Plaintain
Garden Fault which accounts for over half of the movement between the Caribbean and North
American plates which equals to about 7 millimeters per year. (Cressey, 2010). The earthquake
occurred on the Enriquillo Plaintain Garden fault system. The plates move in an east west direction
and which had caused the energy release. ( What Caused the Devastating Haiti Earthquake?, 2010)
Since the American North American and the Caribbean plates slide past each other, the movement
creates a strike strip fault. Because of famous strike strip faults like San Andreas, it seems
reasonable that the earthquake did take place. In fact, for some scientists there was concern about
this earthquake happening. A professor emeritus in geoscience at Oregon State University stated
only 6 days before the earthquake, If they have an earthquake on this

Pros And Cons Of Gun Control Laws
I think that there should be more gun control laws because it can help in the future. Even though
many people already own guns and they can t be taken away because of the Second Amendment, it
can prevent those who shouldn t own a gun from buying one. Implementing more laws would make
it harder to own a gun, which can prevent many attacks and deaths. Even though more gun
control laws won t eliminate attacks are mass shootings completely, it will help lower the
number of attacks and save more lives. Having these laws may not seem like it can do much
now, but it will make it harder to get a gun in in the future and lower the chances of it falling into
the wrong hands. Another reason there should be more gun control laws is because it will help
to create more jobs and boost the economy. With these laws, there would need to be more
thorough background checks and interviews that act as an evaluation if a person is mentally
stable to own a gun. Since we are only doing the basics right now, which is a quick background
check, more people will need to be hired to do all of the work that is needed. There is no method
that will completely diminish the problem of guns falling into the wrong hands, but the stricter
gun laws can help to lower the rate. Also by introducing the stricter laws, more people can benefit
from what they create and allow people to have confidence in who is receiving a gun.

The legislative branch is the most powerful out of the three. It consists of a House of
Representatives and a Senate which forms Congress. This branch has powers that the others
depend on, such as the executive branch because they rely on the legislative branch to vote in
elections. One of the strongest powers the legislative branch holds is being the only branch to
make new laws or change existing ones. The other branches have weaker powers because they
can only veto laws, suggest new laws, or question laws. The legislative branch has a 1 up on power
over the other branches of government. I think that the legislative branch has become too powerful.
Even though I think that it has, it still gets the job done because it is proficient with everything it
does.. One example is the House of Representatives

What Is Sherman Alexie s The Absolutely True Diary Of A...
When it comes to societies, all of them have their own customs. These customs force the people
of each society to conform to specific standards in order to get along. Usually they have two types
of rules; these are written and unwritten. The majority of the rules are written so that people will
be more likely to follow them. On the other hand, unwritten rules are used to guide communication
on a more personal level. This can be seen in the novel The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time
Indian by Sherman Alexie. The author uses the story of a bullied Indian named Junior who decides
to go against societal norms and attend an all white school in order to challenge the views of each
community. In this story, the Indians often resort to violence when faced with something that
threatens their culture, or way of life. They see the fact... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On Junior s first day at Reardan he already starts to notice this difference. The whites, when faced
with their first Indian student, are a little afraid so they resort to what they were always taught
to do when faced with an unfamiliar situation. They start to insult him by calling him names like
Chief and Red Skin. They also did this because they feared Junior. While explaining his first day
at Reardan he says, None of those guys punched me or got violent. After all, I was a reservation
Indian, and no matter how geeky and weak I appeared to be, I was still a potential killer. So
mostly they called me names. Lots of names (Alexie 63). This shows that they fear him just as
much as he fears them. Soon, they realize he is not a threat to them, and they quickly became
friends with him. This is shown when the Reardan crowd cheered Junior on after seeing the way
the Indians treated him at the first basketball game. They also booed the Indian team upon their
arrival to the Reardan gym. This shows how the whites use a verbal approach to deal with

Similarities Between Lost Of Motion And Lost In Motion
When it comes to speaking or performing in front of an audience, everyone has their own ways
of handling the situation, even if they don t have a fear of a big audience. Some people imagine
their audience naked and some imagine themselves somewhere else. This trick to performing is
expressed in both Lost in Motion and Lost in Motion 2 These short films depict two professional
dancers performing breath taking moves, all while in perfect elegance. These two short films have
both similarities and differences. The comparison of these films can be best categorized by its
setting, its mood, and its music
As stated in the introduction, both people in the Lost in Motion videos are both professional
dancers. When the two dance, they seem to be alone in their thoughts. In Lost in Motion , the male
dancer is performing his routine backstage behind the curtain, he is alone both in his mind and
outside of it as well. The area where he is dancing is pitch black with blue lines complementing
each strong movement. After he finishes his routine, he proceeds to enter onto the stage in front
of the audience. In Lost in Motion 2 , the female dancer is performing in front of a live audience,
however in her mind she is alone. In her mind, she is dancing on a giant floating rock structure in
an ominous place filled with storms. While in this place, she dances on the edge, fearlessly. After
her performance, she then proceeds to enter backstage.
The settings of both short films contribute

Piaget s Four Stages Of Cognitive Development
Fisher Price Jumperoo Rainforest is one of the toys from group A, the targeted age range of this toy
is birth to 12 months. According to Piaget s Four Stages of Cognitive Development, it should be in
sensorimotor stage. At this stage the infant is only a purely natural creature, they have no real
knowledge about the world, past or future. Infants can only touch and watch, they cannot be logical
reasoning. At the end of this stage, there are two cognitive accomplishments infants should have
mastered: Object Permanenceand Goal directed behavior. First cognitive accomplishment is object
permanence, it means infant will know someone or something is still existing even if they cannot

According to Piaget s Four Stages of Cognitive Development, it should be in sensorimotor and
preoperational stages. At sensorimotor stage, infants will from reflexive to goal directed behavior.
The limitation of this stage is object permanence. At preoperational stage, children begin to think or
imagine something in their mind, they will gain two cognitive accomplishments, mental
representations and intuitive thought. Mental representations mean children can mentally represent
something in the past or future but not now. Intuitive thought means children are self centered, and
they trust others have the same idea as their own. There are three limitations at this stage, first is
egocentrism. It means children cannot think something from other s perspective. Second is lack
of conservation, it means if you change the its shape or appearance of something, its weight still
the same, but children cannot understand that. Last one is lack of hierarchical classification, it is
very hard for children to distinguish similar objects. Little People Musical Preschool has more
than 35 sounds of music and phrases to motivate children. It is helpful because they will have a
higher interest in language, it is good for mental representations during age 2 to 7 years old. Also,
children can gain knowledge through this virtual toy world, in this little world, children may think
toys have the same ideas with him, it can exercise their imagination. Also, caregiver can give

Analysis of RemarkeВґs All Quiet on the Western Front
A major reiterated theme of Remarque s novel All Quiet on the Western Front focuses on
BУ“umer, the narrator, and his comrade s accurate view of World War I and how greatly it
contrasts to the ideas of the older generation who persuaded the youth to join the war for
defending Germany. An analysis of BУ“umer s attitude toward the war reveals that the world of
his former authority no longer exists. His first encounters on the front shatter his trust and belief
in the views and teachings of the generation that should have been their mentors, directing this
inexperienced Iron Youth (18) into the world and preparing him for what would have been his
future life. Now, BУ“umer realizes that, if he survives the war, he can never return to ideas or
desires of his youth nor ever truly re enter into the lives that the generations before and after him
belong. The older generations, consisting of BУ“umer s parents and teachers, receive the war with
a joyous enthusiasm of a chance to display German might and honor, though no one had an idea of
what the soldiers, their children, would have to endure. They, especially BУ“umer s teacher
Kantorek, took every possibility to persuasively impress this patriotic idea upon the younger
generation: that duty to one s country is the greatest thing (13). This generation, the ones who were
to equip and direct the younger so that they may survive in this world, was basically sending their
sons in blindly and completely unprepared for the true horrors of

Analysis Of The Film Cool Hand Luke
Cool Hand Luke Film Analysis The film, Cool Hand Luke, directed by Stuart Rosenberg and
produced by Gordon Carroll, was released in November 1967. It is an American prison drama
film about a former soldier who is sent to jail for taking the heads off of parking meters. Luke, the
protagonist, is sentenced to two years in a chain gang prisonran by severe guardians. If the
prisoners violate the rules it results in spending the night in the box , which is a small room with
limited air and limited space to move. Most of them follow every rule, while Luke is alienated at
the prison. He does not take the regulations seriously, which always gets him into trouble. This film
presents several examples of religious symbolism and themes which will be analyzed through the
character of Luke, which is often applied in the film to add depth to his character. In Cool Hand Luke
, there are some scenes in which the theme of crucifixion is depicted. One of the scenes is when
Luke ingests fifty eggs, which represents the souls of the earth Christ died for on the cross (Christ
Imagery in Cool Hand Luke). This happen when all the prisoners gather around him while Dragline
served him the eggs. Luke accepted the challenge to prove himself to the inmates and to get the
money from all the bets made on him. Whenever he finishes eating, he lies on the table with his
arms extended. This scene alludes and emphasizes to Christ crucifixion. Even though the audience

The Wrongful Conviction Of Juan Rivera
Written Assignment: The Wrongful Conviction of Juan Rivera
Aric Hermelin

Part I On November 19th, 1993 Juan Rivera was convicted for the August 17th, 1992 rape and
murder of then eleven year old Holly Staker, who at the time was babysitting her two siblings
(University of Michigan Law School). His wrongful conviction was the result of failures by not
only the public, but also law enforcement personnel and the criminal justice system, as we will
further examine. According to the University of Michigan s Law School, Juan Rivera s initial
arrest came on October 26th after Lake County Police received a tip from an informant. Rivera was
then questioned for four days and at the end of the fourth day Rivera falsely confessed to Staker
s rape and murder (University of Michigan Law School). Following his confession, the two
interrogators went on to type a confession for Rivera to sign. After obtaining Rivera s signature,
however, the prosecutor found the narrative to be incohesive, and asked the interrogators to
correct it and to obtain Rivera s signature on the second written confession. Rivera s signature was
later obtained on October 30th (University of Michigan Law School). Of course, it is tough to
comprehend why a reasonable and innocent individual such as Mr. Rivera would confess to a crime
he did not commit (Gould). Upon further review, however, there were notable flaws as to how this
case was treated. To

Murder Is A Homicide Crime
Murder Charges
Murder is a homicide crime where there is an intentional killing of a human being by another
human being with malice aforethought. Malice aforethought is what separates murder from other
crimes such as voluntary or involuntary manslaughter ( Free Advice: Law, 2015). Murder can be
classified into different degrees or types, but not all states break them up, but instead name the top
type as capital murder.
First Degree Murder
In most states, first degree murder is defined as the unlawful killing on an individual after
planning or lying in wait for the victim ( Find Law, 2015). The act must be performed out of
willfulness, deliberation, and premeditation to be considered first degree murder in most states.
Other acts of violent felonies such as arson, burglary, kidnapping, robbery, and rape that results in
a death can also be charged as first degree murder ( Diffen, 2014).
Willfulness is the intent to end human life, the life does not have to be a predetermined person
so much as it has to be the thought of carrying out the act on another human being. If a person
sets out to kill a human and unintentionally kills a different person the killer can still be charged
with first degree murder ( Diffen, 2014, para. 2). Deliberation and premedication is determined
individually on a case by case basis and it does not mean killer must think at any length of time or
plan ahead for the murder to be considered premeditated ( Find Law, 2015).

In Life in the Iron Mills Rebecca Harding Davis reveals a growing industrial America in the
nineteenth century, where an unbelievable level of poverty and limited opportunities of achieving
success can cause individuals to take extreme risks to attain a descent lifestyle. Through the
novella, Davis illustrates the distinct differences between upper and lower class lifestyles.
Immigrant workers, Debora (lovingly called Deb) and Hugh, take the reader to a time when
people were used as production machines and poverty was a state into which most people were
fated to be born and die. By using techniques such as strong language and symbolism, a narrator
who helps create a sympathetic bias towards the working class and an innocent character who...

The green fields and sunshine symbolize the lifestyle of the rich, who where probably the ones
reading the novella. This contrast it to the horrid conditions the steel workers were in, and
trying to make the reader evoke feelings of sorrow and pity for the characters. This is because
the rich where the ones that had a green field, or a nice clean sky, as opposed to smoke and steel,

mills to hell on earth. When visiting the mill that night, one of the men accompanying the mill
owner s son comments on its resemblance to hell; If it were not that you must have heard it so
often, Kirby, I would tell you that your works look like Dante s Inferno, and The terrible
grinding of the machinery sounds to her like Gods in pain. The author also makes it a point to
use very simplistic and uneducated language for the workers conversations. This can be
differentiated when the reader sees the interaction between Wolfe and the Iron mill owners. Davis
makes a bias towards the working class by using a narrator to dictate the story in of life in the iron
mills. From the beginning of the story the reader is dependent upon the narrator to provide them
with all the required details. This dependence also causes the reader to share a

Mesopotamia
Early civilizations from Mesopotamia to Egypt were established primarily because of the shift
from hunting and gathering to agricultural means of acquiring food. This change meant that not
everyone in a population was necessary for the group s survival and therefore, some members had
free time . This extra time allowed for advances in religion, writing, and politics, three key features
of civilization. By studying these advances, we can better learn how civilization originally looked
and we can examine the effects of their advances in today s society. With this new spare time
usually allocated for hunting and gathering, early people logically looked for reasons to explain
the nature of things. These explanations initiated the earliest forms of religion a prominent feature
in the basis of both Mesopotamian and Egyptian life.1 Mesopotamians created and actively
worshiped hundreds of gods, many of which explained different phenomena and could control how
the forces of nature affected people. The Mesopotamians, therefore, found their purpose in serving
the will of the gods.2 Egyptians believed their gods to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

due to the outrageous acquisition financed by debt. Besides those debt issues, we can state that
Manchester United is quite stable and performs extremely well financially speaking. After
analyzing this we cab make some proposals for keeping the strong performance they have now: To
keep going and to make stronger and log term alliances with the current sponsors, as well as with
the TV partners the Club has. The stadium has just been rebuilt so besides the promotion that
Manchester can make, there are not additional changes that can substantially help the already huge
attendance to increase. However there is one change that Manchester can do and will lead the club

Presidential debate is where people tried to do just that, they often tell lies to give other

Analysis Of The Magdalene Sisters
Directed by Peter Mullan in 2002, The Magdalene Sisters, focuses on four young women s
experiences in a Dublin Magdalen Laundry from 1964 to 1968. Through telling the story of
Margaret, Patricia, Bernadette and Harriet, all considered to be sexually deviant and subsequently
imprisoned in a convent, Mullan s movie graphically depicts the systematic punishment and
demoralization of young women at the hands of their unforgiving parents, the state, the Catholic
Church as well as the community in denial. Though each woman has a different story both before
and during their stay in the laundry, the film reveals that they were victims to deep, unflinching
religious beliefs and a deep seated contempt for and fear of female sexuality, a dark and oppressive
aspect of Irish society in the 19th and 20th centuries. Although the entire movie authentically
depicts how church, state, family and community colluded in, and therefore share culpability for,
the abuse of women in Magdalen laundries, specific scenes, such as the rape in the opening
wedding scene, the Corpus Christi festival and the emotional abuse in the shower scene highlight
the shame and embarrassment as well as oppression that women faced in Ireland in the mid 20th
century. The Magdalene Sisterspromotes a more sophisticated understanding of the relationship
between state, society, and taboo surrounding sexuality in the Ireland that allowed the perpetuation
of Magdalen laundries and mistreatment of women who were believed to

On the Roads optimism Essay example
In Jack Kerouac s novel On the Road, the narrator, Sal Paradise offers up to us what seems to be
a very optimistic view on life. He is forever singing the praises of how wonderful his adventures
will be and his high expectations for the future. To Sal, the novel is defined by youthful
exuberance and unabashed optimism for the new experiences that he sets out to find. A deeper
look into the novel, as well as a look at some of the criticswho have written on it, reveals a much
darker side, a more pessimistic and sad aspect that Sal simply fails to realize until the very close of

The influence of Dean Moriarty on the novel, in terms of everything from plot to general tone to
the thoughts and dreams of Sal, is immeasurable. Most importantly though, he is the catalyst for
much of this blind optimism for in a sense, he personifies blind optimism. During the long
introduction of Dean in the first chapter, Sal shows the vast impression that Dean will have on
the tone of the novel: all my New York friends were in their negative, nightmare position of
putting down society and giving their bookish or psychoanalytical reasons, but Dean just raced in
society, eager for bread and love; he didn t care one way or the other (Kerouac, 7).
Dean s refusal to look at the world with a disapproving eye and always having hope for simple
things like food and sex exemplify his personification of optimism. This early passage of the
novel shows that Dean will and eventually does become the driving force in the optimism that
marks much of the book. Dean s lust for life guides himself and Sal to places such as jazz clubs,
old friends houses, and even Mexico. But with Dean as well as the cohorts that follow his madness,
(Sal, Ed Dunkel, Carlo Marx and many more) the result ends up being much less than ideal, despite

In The Bissula Analysis
In his pioneering work, The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire, Edward Gibbon
writes that the poetical fame of Ausonius condemns the taste of his age. Indeed, Ausonius s work
may seem uncomplicated on the surface: he borrows heavily from previous literature and uses
straightforward syntax. However, his work contains depth beyond its ostensible simplicity: it
blends genres and uses consistent themes as narrative foci to guide the reader. In two of his most
prominent poems, liquid (as water and drink) is the key interpretive control: In the Bissula, alcohol
provides wisdom that counters the confining seriousness of sobriety, while in the Moselle the river
provides calm comfort that contrasts with the hectic unnatural world. Throughout both poems,
Ausonius consistently uses liquid to contrast the serenity and clarity provided by water and drink
with the chaos of the dry world. In the Bissula, alcohol plays a key role as the interpretive control.
Ausonius addresses the reader directly, proclaiming that his poems are unserious. He writes that I
follow Thymele (4), classifying his work as relaxing entertainment more than serious literature.
Indeed, he requests that the reader drink before you read (6) in order to best understand the poem.
While alcohol is typically associated with confusion and dulled wit, Ausonius claims that the drunk
reader will get wise to me (8). With this subversion of expectations, Ausonius proclaims drink as a

Movement Framing Examples
The act of framing is without a doubt a tactical strategy. During the organization of a social
movement, framing was as a way to assign meaning (McAdam, 339) or look at events in ways that
could inspire support from both group members and the common people while subjugating the
opposing party. McAdam (339) states, Mediating between opportunity and action are people and
the... meanings they attach to their situations. The events that occur during the rise of a social
movement all present opportunities to help members achieve their goal but in order to even act
upon these opportunities, the people involved must frame their situation in a way that will draw
support to their cause. During the Civil Rights movement, the use of framing, on both sides, greatly
influenced the outcome of social reform. McAdam states that there are six strategies social
movement groups can employ to bring about change. In the case of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr and
the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC), even though blacks could now vote legal
subterfuge and extralegal intimidation prevented them from taking part of political reform in the
south (McAdam, 345). This intimidation extended as far as murder to prevent the... Show more

King and SCLC are a prime examples of the use of framing; drawing great media coverage with
the use of nonviolent tactics. The use of these provocative strategies created a demand for
answers. McAdams (347) states quite simply, no black leader ever sounded like King... Dr. King s
ideology was new and profound, mixing Christian and Democratic ideas; the most important,
framing the movement as a way to heal the nation after such a long period of segregation and racial
discrimination. King and the SCLC also depended on the violent nature of their opponents in the
south to further frame their movement. By framing the violence that took place in Birmingham and
Selma, the civil rights movement was able to generate a great deal of sympathetic media

Urban Problems In Denver Essay
In almost every teen movie, the protagonist wants to break away from their small town, and move
to the hustling bustling city. Cities have an energy and an excitement unlike anywhere else. A
majority of the people and income of a state come from their cities. But as the teen protagonist finds
out about half way through the movie, the cityhas some draw backs. This is inevitable, a large
urban area with a large population is bound to have problems. Urban problems and solutions to
those problems are often discussed, but rarely acted upon. For the city is too big and the problems
run too deep for just one solution to come in and fix everything. Even Denver, Colorado, one of the
more wealthy cities in the United States, is not safe from problems... Show more content on

Animal Shelter Research Paper
While I only worked with the adoptable dogs and cats at the animal shelter, there were still risks.
As long as the dogs and cats had no history of aggression, they were put up for adoption, and I
was allowed to work with them unsupervised. However, just because an animal has not displayed
aggression in the past does not mean that they will not in the future. Animals were brought into
the animal shelter on a daily basis. When being introduced to a new environment and new people,
stress for animal is unavoidable. Stress may manifest itself in fear and nervousness. Fear and
nervousness may lead to aggression. Aggression is usually a form of self defense for shelter
animals. Fortunately, I never experienced a case of offensive aggression from an animal at the

opponent in those regions. The nip was obviously a defensive maneuver. Sadly, due to the safety

Discount and Hawkins Case
Case Synopsis
The subject matter of the case is presented as a negotiation between a real estate developer,

professional negotiators: Myra Hart is representing the Hawkins Company and Genia is
representing the Discount Marketplace. The Hawkins Company is a real estate developer, who is

The Developer wished that the Retailer would deal only with soft goods, and asked them to use
same product mix for all locations around the country. The proposal was declined because the
Retailer felt it was limiting to deal with only soft goods. Retailer wanted to be free in selecting
the type of goods and services. Their argument was that they needed to be more flexible
regarding their product mix in order to achieve innovation and to follow their advertising
strategy. Also the Retailer didn t agree to use the same product mix across country because their
main activity was based around a strategy of adapting the product mix. In order to get to an
agreement the Developer suggested limiting the activity to some percentage of the operation area.
They offered a limit of 10 15% for trial. The Retailer accepted the offer and issue was solved.
2. Operating Covenant Developer s concern about the contract duration was that the Discount
Marketplace would operate for only as long as the business would be viable. Their aspiration level
was to sign the contract for a period of minimum 15 years and their soft constrain was to sign the
contract for a minimum of 10 years. Developer needed to be sure that the retailer would perform
the best they can and they needed to be safe in case the Marketplace wanted to make sudden
changes after signing the contract, like changing the location too soon. The Retailer s aspiration
level was to have the contract

the aim is to do just that, to bring tutoring to a peer to peer experience instead of a normal peer to
professor experience. With this the goal is to make it easier for students to learn in a friendlier
environment instead of a more judgmental or stricter environment that sometimes comes from
tutoring from a professor.
Secondly, is the possibility of creating a new friendship from the program.
With this program you receive the anonymous student s phone number which allows you to keep in

Boston Massacre Happened
What Really Happened at the Boston Massacre It was a cool night in Boston in early march. I
was passing by the customs house while a group of boys began to yell and hollering at some
British soldiers. As the boys continued the soldiers began to fluster, so much to the point that he
strikes one of the boys with his rifle. And as soon as I can blink, I was in the middle of a crowd
surrounding the soldier. As the crowd grew, more soldiers came to his side. The crowd started to
get out of control so one of the soldiers picked up his musket and fired into the crowd and so his
allies followed suit with one of the musket shots nearly missing me. All of the citizens run in all
directions and the crowd nearly trampling children. I returned home and later discovered that the
soldiers were placed under house arrest and soon after taken to jail and charged for the death of
several people. As things heated up in court, more and more British soldiers arrived in Boston. They
did this to bring peace to Boston but it did not do that it all. It did the exact opposite and caused
even more chaos. And as chaos spread... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

There were many forms of acne, ranging from blackheads, whiteheads, and pimples to severe
forms such as cystic or modular acne. Da Silva, whose scientific background was with lasers,
had seen dermatologists use laser technologies in the treatment of mild to moderate
inflammatory acne, most commonly referred to as pimples, breakouts, blemishes, or zits. Choi
summarized the science behind the laser treatments: Lasers treat acne in two possible ways. At
certain wavelengths or colors lasers go into the skin tissue and generate oxygen radicals, which
kill the bacteria and reduce inflammation. At other wavelengths, lasers are basically heat sources
that reduce sebum [an oily substance produced by certain skin glands] production by killing and
reducing the number of sebaceous glands. This decreases the likelihood that excess sebum
clogs pores, which can lead to acne. 2 This document is authorized for use only by Rachel van

The Four Types Of Operant Conditioning
Operant conditioning is a type of learning which occurs through either receiving reinforcement or
punishment for a behavior. This type of learning creates an association between a behavior and
consequence for that behavior. The four types of operant conditioning are positive reinforcement,
positive punishment, negative reinforcement, and negative punishment. If operant conditioningwas
used properly it could be used to solve a variety of social and resource dilemmas; especially in the
case of the cattle ranchers and overgrazing.
Positive reinforcement is when a positive stimulus is added in hopes of increasing a behavior.
This could be that the ranchers are actually paid for not using the common land whose quality
has begun to deteriorate. By paying ranchers to use either their own land, or pay to use a different
land, it would give the common land pasture time to get in better condition. Also if you paid
ranchers to only use their own land, not only would the common land pasture increase in quality,
but the rancher s land would most likely stay in good condition because that land belongs to the
racher. A huge problem with the tragedy of the commons is that people abuse common resources
because no one has ownership over them; they are nonexcludable but rival, so everyone s use of
those resources quickly depletes the supply of it.
Negative reinforcement is when an aversive stimulus is taken away in order to increase behavior. If
the ranchers were already receiving annual

The Dragon Who We Soon Discover
I had qualms at first about how exactly to complete a task such as this, being that my experience
with this type of writing is limited at best. However, I will confess there is much fun to be found
in the fanciful wordplay. Not only are we asked to fill in a piece of the story, requiring knowledge
of the plot line at this point in the story, but the task also prompts a deeper understanding of the
literary devices and influences present in this style of writing. A task of this nature not only
familiarizes students with both the plot line and the technical aspects of the writing, but also fosters
an opportunity to incorporate creativity and merge all of these dynamic fragments into a single
masterpiece.
To begin, I considered the surrounding plot of the story. Just before the section begins we learn
of the dragon who we soon discover is a major player in this epic tale. Thus far in the story the
dragon has played a rather dormant role. Beowulf has been ruling the kingdom for over 50 years
and we have heard not a single mention of the beast that sleeps as he guards his sparkly trove of
wealth. At this point we are also introduced to an escaped slave who wakes the fiery beast by
stealing a gem studded goblet from the lair. He claims that his thievery was in fact accidental, and
so proceeds the tale of his misadventures in the earthen pit. His story recounts that as he was
escaping the chains of slavery he unknowingly stumbled upon the lair, by chance finding himself
amid the

Analysis Of How Soon Is Now By John Morrissey
The Smiths are widely considered a band with lyrics constantly bordering on poetry, and
Morrissey s song writing ability was and still is unparalleled. Songs like their 1985 hit how soon
is now? broke through this barrier, with lyrics based on and taken from famous literature such as
George Elliot s Middemarch, and the end product being one of the most lyrically complex and
emotive songs ever composed, improved only by the solemn strumming of the band behind the
lyrical genius of Morrissey.
How Soon Is Now, is the Smiths greatest song, in the minds of many, and is about a painfully shy
man s search for love. Morrissey uses words in the lyrics that most writers would never even think
of, or be able to use to good effect if they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The song also has verses detailing the contemporary Manchester LGBT community. Morrissey is
perhaps one of the most infamous Queers of history, due to his famed skirting of his bisexuality, but
clearly voices his opinions during the song. This is detailed during the interlude:
There s a club if you d like to go you could meet somebody who really loves you so you go, and
you stand on your own and you leave on your own and you go home, and you cry and you want to
die
Music journalist Jon Savage commented that the song s lyrics were evocative of contemporary
Manchester gay club culture:
The whole idea of meeting somebody who really loves you is regarded as a benefit of going out,
and the author embarks in this desperate action in the hopes of finally finding love.
The profoundness of this comment is only recognizable when one considers the struggle to find
somebody to love them in a world where their attraction to somebody of the same sex was not only
questioned but attacked, and the sense of isolation felt by people such as Morrissey, after spending
their nights searching for romantic connection, but frequently ending at home

School Prayer In Schools
School Prayer is a very controversial topic in our country today. Many famous figures in this nation
support the idea, but there is a number of citizens that do not. Wonder what the verdict is
constitutionally? Let s dig in and find out. The conflict of school prayer goes all the way back to
the nineteenth century. There was a lot of immigrants coming to the United States, and the majority
of them were catholic. A big influence on making school prayerin schools were mainly catholic and
other denominational and non denominational groups. In the twentieth century, a number of states
passed laws that it was mandatory for schools to have prayer and bible readings everyday before
class. School Prayer should be permitted in the United States because it is in the constitution,
former presidents have promoted it; and teachers would have freedom of religionin the class.
The Supreme Court made school prayer unconstitutional, but is still debated today. People who
agree with prayer say that if they remove prayer, that it is the public school s mission to provide
children with an education in mores and values, as well as academic preparation. Supporters also
say that when students volunteer to pray, they have the right to the law of separation of church and
state, and other laws between the lines of freedom of religion. In God we Trust mottos and using

Marine Environment Essay
Introduction
Australia is one of the main coal producing countries in the world, ranking the first in coal export
and the fourth in the coal production in 2012 (International Energy Agency 2012). On global scale,
coal accounted for a third of primary energy needs and 41.1% of electricity generation in 2014,
when its production reached 8022.5 Mt (World CoalAssociation 2015).
Steps involved in coal industry have shown to pollute the marine environment by various means.
Unburnt coal may escape into marine environment during natural erosion of coal seams, slumping

Shakespeare s King Lear
The Characters of Goneril and Cordelia in King Lear
Nothing makes a story like a good villain, or in this case, good villainess. They are the people we
love to hate and yearn to watch burn. Goneril, of Shakespeare s King Lear, is no exception. Her
evils flamed from the very beginning of the play with her lack of sincerity in professing her love
for her father:
Sir, I love you more than word can wield the matter; Dearer than eyesight, space, and liberty;
Beyond what can be valued, rich or rare; No less than life, with grace, health, beauty, honour; As
much as child e er loved, or father found; A love that makes breath poor, and speech unable.

I think the time I would say I felt sympathy for her was when she killed herself because she saw
the person she had become, in a matter of speaking. This shed some light in that we must come
face to face with the question of if she regretted her actions, and SOMEWHERE deep down inside,
her icy heart was beginning to thaw. To some degree, I find her a tragic character in this regard.
Could she have redeemed herself if she had lived? Did she really deserve to die?
Cordelia is the epitome of goodness in Shakespeare s King Lear. What shall Cordelia speak?/ Love,
and be silent (I.i.63 64). These words echo a reminiscent time when loyalty to the king and one s
father was paramount. King Lear, Cordelia s father, planned on dividing his land among his
three daughters, but for a price, the price of their love. While her sisters exaggerated their love
for their father to win the prize, Cordelia stayed true to herself and her loyalty to Lear by not
making a mockery out of her feelings for him and playing it cool. She was also not characterized
by her openness of her feelings. She was a quiet girl who kept emotions locked inside. Even so,
Lear got angry at her response and disowned her. Why such a brutal attack on his daughter?
Cordelia is known to be Lear s favorite and he had hoped that he could give her the largest piece of
land so he could reside on it with her, but the plan failed. Overall, the King s decision lead him and

Cheerleading Satire
Mom, come on! I yell while I m already rushing to the car. Soon enough, she comes out the
garage and sits in front of me in the driver s seat. I listen excitedly as her keys jingle and feel so
much relief as the air vents come on, putting me out of my misery in the the dry, 95 degree heat.
The radio plays in the background while I look out the window at the scenery I see everyday on
my way to school. We re there within minutes and I jump out of the car and run to all the other
girls. The heat hits me like a truck and there s not a cloud in sight. The huge playground is behind
us, next to the Groveport Elementary building. We re facing the baseball diamond, surrounded by
a fence and a little red building is a bit to the left. Five, six, seven, eight, Coach M yells. Clap! One.

Today is September 17, 2016, almost a year since my accident and I ve come a long way since then.
My ankles healed and I m back to cheerleading with no complications, I ve even been going to
tumbling and working on my back handspring, which brings us here. At tumbling, a back
handspring is easy because the floor is springy but the track at a football game is a whole
different story and I have to do it today. My heart is racing as we walk over to the other side of
the track to do our hello cheer to the other team. I think back to the few times I warmed it up
with my coach and try to keep in mind doing it just like that. We re getting closer. I can t do this,
guys. Oh my God! I groan. I m gonna dieee. At this point I m almost panicking and we re getting
even closer. I hear multiple encouragements from my team but they don t do much to calm my
nerves. My palms are getting sweaty and my brain is going crazy with thoughts of how badly this
could end. We finally get to the other team and we greet them with the usual Hey ladies! I scan the
faces of the other girls with their smiles probably just as fake as

Individual Analysis for Engstrom Auto Mirror Plant
Engstrom Auto Mirror plant, as a privately owned business, it manufactured mirrors for trucks and
automobiles. The managers aimed to increase productivity for sustainable development of the
company. Back in 1998, to pursue highly productivity, the plant was redesigning its production lines
to incorporate new technology, however, the transition was not smooth, some problems had
emerged, such as the staffs moral and efficiency declining and the internal contradictions being
intensified between the managers and employees. As the result of it, the previous manger resigned
in 1998. After that, the new manager, Ron Bent believed in the power of worker incentive
programs and wanted to establish one at Engstrom. Eventually, the plant adopted the... Show more

According to my analysis, the problems are distrust between the managers and employees and
unfairness of rewards between the employees and supervisors. In order to keep productivity and
profitability of the plant, it should resolve the issues urgently before the situation deteriorated
further. I recommend the option two is better for Bent to deal with these problems for the plant.
Firstly, communication is the most important factor that affects the relationship between managers
and employees. If the managers could listen advices of the work in time from their employees, it
not only will be more easier to handle the existing problem in the company, but also will improve
the relationship between managers and employees because the staff feel the company takes, to
respect and to trust them, feel oneself is in enterprise s one, and they can have the confidence and
the sense of responsibility for the development of their company. Secondly, it is to give the
appreciation by managers to employees frequently that will improve the employee morale because
they will feel more attached to their company. As the result of this, employees will devote to their
work without any complaint. Consequently, because of the improvement of relationship and
employee morale, the efficiency and productivity of company will improve with the efforts of all
staff and give them corresponding reward. Although the first option is probably to resolve the crisis

The Effects Of Interpersonal Trauma And Disruption Of...
Developmental Trauma or Developmental Psychopathology researched by Maughan Cicchetti
(2002) report on the consequences of interpersonal trauma and disruption of caregiving systems on
the development of affect regulation, attention, cognition, perception, and interpersonal
relationships. Ећar (2014: 171 179) states that research into patients with dissociatve disorders
report the highest prevalance of childhood abuse and/or neglect of all mental health disorders and
asserts that dissociationcan result from deep rooted developmental stress. This project will
concentrate on the links in developmental trauma with the forming of dissociative traits and
discuss whether dissociation is essentially related to the developing self. An in depth look at what
is developmental trauma and the aetiology of dissociation will be covered. Using clinical
examples, the implications for clinical practice in child psychotherapy will be considered. There is
not scope here to look at each dissociative phenomena in great depth so this project will concentrate
on dissociation as a whole.
Developmental Trauma, the Key Aspects
Trauma or traumata as described in Rycroft (1995) are experiences which disrupt or pervert
development. They define it as any unexpected experience which the subject is unable to assimilate.
Developmental, or as it is sometimes called, complex trauma, is concerned with a child s prolonged
exposure to traumatic events such as, neglect, abuse, abandonment, violence and

Universal Truths in Japanese Literature
Universal Truths in Japanese Literature
Arts, Culture and Literature
In The Crane Wife and Princess Hase, both short stories in the book Tales of Japan Illustrated Folk
Tales, Fairy Tales and Mythology by Birgit Amadoi there are examples of Universal truths. The
Universal Truths such as Good vs. Evil, Greed vs. Generosity, and Outer Strength vs. Inner Strength
affect the people of Japan, and reflects on how the live their life, and their outlook on the world.
The universal truth of Good vs. Evil reflects Japanese culture through, the history, the people, their
outlook on life, and their actions. Evil is usually perceived as the opposite of good. In history it is
to be known that Good always conquers evil. Every language has a ... Show more content on

This is an example of God being on the side of good. While giving birth to Hase he mother passed
away. The Father got remarried, and had another child. Hase now lives with her Stepmother, Father,
and brother. Her brother is the son of her step mother. The step mother became very jealous of
Hase. She was loved by everyone because of her poetry. Hase was a good person, so good karma
came to her. Hase s stepmother plans to kill her with poison. Her plan went wrong, and she killed
her only son. The stepmother blamed Hase for her loss. This is the second example of karma. Hase
s stepmother was jealous of her which is a sin, and bad karma came to her. She tried to kill Hase
and bad came back to her. This is an example of Good vs. evil when good, defeats evil.
In both of these short stories it explains for Good vs. Evil is connected to karma. When you do
good things good karma will come back to you. When you do bad, horrible things will happen to
you in return. The example of Yuhei not obeying his wife s orders is an example of Evil, which
resulted in him having a horrible life. When he let the crane free and him being bless with a
wife was an example of good karma. This shows that one person can make good and bad actions.
In the second story Hase s stepmother trying to killer her, resulting in her only sons death is an
example of bad Karma. She took the evil path and bad things happened to her. This

What Is Cleopatra Bulls
Even though the Ptolemies had been ruled over 300 years in Egypt, they had their roots in
Greek culture. There were many differences that got in the way between the Greek and Egyptian
cultures and religions that caused problems between the Egyptian people and their rulers. In
Michael Grant s biography of Cleopatra, he describes this when he says, The large number of
different animals worshipped by the Egyptians was one of the many aspects of their religion
that the Greeks found baffling and shocking. (9) While most Greeks saw weird rituals, Cleopatra
saw opportunity. Right as Cleopatra took the throne, one of the holy bulls died. There were a
handful of sacred bulls that the Egyptians kept around in the major cities that were honored as
the living souls of certain Egyptian Gods. When one bull died it was replaced so that the God
could enter the new bulls. These bulls were incredibly well taken care of as they had staff
dedicated to making sure the bulls made it to public events and ceremonies.
When the bull died, Cleopatra took the chance to win the Egyptians endearment, by leaving
Alexandria, sailing the entire royal fleet to the city the bull had died and overseeing the
replacement of the new bull personally. She travelled a great distance ... Show more content on

Cleopatra was mostly likely aware of Pothinus desires and so came a game of cat and mouse
between the two. Ptolemy XIII was so young that it is doubtful he had real hatred for his sister
that he had only barely seen since she was never around. Someone must ve been poisoning his
young ear to make him hate his sister and it becomes clear that this was Pothinus. Cleopatra was
obviously winning the most power but two factors tipped the scales and there was one that was out
of her control, that being the Nile River. The second reason would be how she handled her first real
political entanglement with

Differences And Similarities Between Native Americans And...
There are many differences and similarities between native American and Europeans. In this essay,
will compare and contrast these two cultures by looking at their art, architecture, medicine, and
time. Architecture is one thing that often varies vastly from civilization to civilization. Native
Americans used nature in a respectful way to build their homes. Once they had a design for a
house that worked they replicated it. No need to improve on something when you could just stick
with it, after all, it did work. On the other hand, Europeans had a much more upgrade and replace
the idea of architecture. They were constantly trying to build things bigger, better, faster, and defy
gravity with their tall extravagant buildings. Medicine is

Time, Work-Discipline And Industrial Capitalism
In E.P. Thompson s essay Time, Work Discipline, and Industrial Capitalism , he argues how the
rise of standardized time, which coincided with employed labor and capitalism, changed how
people view time from how time passes to time spent . Time became a commodity in which it could
be bought and sold. Timethat was not spent properly was considered wasted, which Thompson calls
time thrift, which preindustrial societies were not very preoccupied with in comparison. Thompson
explores this transition of the sense of time in relationship to the Industrial Revolution, benefits and
disadvantages to the new time discipline, and a possible mixture of the old and new time
disciplines in the future.
Thompson starts out describing how people measured time before clocks and the Industrial
Revolution. People measured time in units of domestic activities or natural phenomena, which can
be described as task orientation. Thompson considers this type of time measuring to be natural and
believes that a task oriented society results in little distinction between work and life. However, to
people used to timed labor, such an attitude to labor appeared to be wasteful.
When employed labor is involved, productivity in terms of time becomes important, because the
employer generally pays the worker in terms of time. For many jobs, then a shift from task
orientation to timed labor occurs, as the laborer s time becomes the employer s money. Thus, a
separation between work and leisure occurs, as

Belly Fat Research Paper
The Risks of Belly Fat
The accumulation of belly fat is far more than an aesthetic issue. There are a number of health
risks that are directly associated with the accumulation of belly fat. According to the Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention, obesity has reached epidemic levels, with more than a third of the
nation s population qualifying as obese. To exacerbate the matter, the obesity rate among minors is
at 17 percent, which is triple what it was in the 1960s. While reducing all fat is important, it is
important to understand that all fat is not created equal. There is one type of fat that is considerably
more dangerous than others.

Hidden Health Risks
According to WebMD, the fact that visceral fat originates in the orifices within the body, the
absence of a substantial amount of visible fat can give a person a false sense of security as far as
their health is concerned. What makes this even scarier is the fact that by the time a person
recognizes that they have belly fat, it will have been accumulating for some time.
Assessing the risk is actually rather simple. Even if belly fat is not visible, its presence will
cause the waist to expand. Health experts suggest that the easiest method for assessing risk is to
use a tape measure to measure the waist the larger the number the greater the risk. For women, a
waist measure of 35 inches or more is cause for concern, while a 40 inch waist for men should send
up a red flag.
In addition to heart disease and insulin resistance, the existence of visceral or belly fat include a
higher risk of type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, colorectal cancer and sleep

  • 3. Economic Impact Of The Earthquake Earthquakes and Society On January 12, 2010 a 7.0 earthquake struck the Republic of Haiti. This earthquake caused a large amount of destruction and devastation. In order to understand this earthquake more in depth, it will be discussed on how it affected the earth, the damages and death tolls, the economic impact, and the permanent consequences. Affecting the Earth The earthquake happened about 15 miles southwest from the Haitian capital of Port au Prince at 4:35pm. The geology of Haiti consists of igneous rocks formed within a volcanic island arc. Haiti is situated on the North American Plate and the Caribbean Plate is below. The Enriquillo Plaintain Garden Fault which accounts for over half of the movement between the Caribbean and North American plates which equals to about 7 millimeters per year. (Cressey, 2010). The earthquake occurred on the Enriquillo Plaintain Garden fault system. The plates move in an east west direction and which had caused the energy release. ( What Caused the Devastating Haiti Earthquake?, 2010) Since the American North American and the Caribbean plates slide past each other, the movement creates a strike strip fault. Because of famous strike strip faults like San Andreas, it seems reasonable that the earthquake did take place. In fact, for some scientists there was concern about this earthquake happening. • 4. Pros And Cons Of Gun Control Laws I think that there should be more gun control laws because it can help in the future. Even though many people already own guns and they can t be taken away because of the Second Amendment, it can prevent those who shouldn t own a gun from buying one. Implementing more laws would make it harder to own a gun, which can prevent many attacks and deaths. Even though more gun control laws won t eliminate attacks are mass shootings completely, it will help lower the number of attacks and save more lives. Having these laws may not seem like it can do much now, but it will make it harder to get a gun in in the future and lower the chances of it falling into the wrong hands. Another reason there should be more gun control laws is because it will help to create more jobs and boost the economy. With these laws, there would need to be more thorough background checks and interviews that act as an evaluation if a person is mentally stable to own a gun. Since we are only doing the basics right now, which is a quick background check, more people will need to be hired to do all of the work that is needed. There is no method that will completely diminish the problem of guns falling into the wrong hands, but the stricter gun laws can help to lower the rate. Also by introducing the stricter laws, more people can benefit from what they create and allow people to have confidence in who is receiving a gun. Assignment A4 MB Gov The legislative branch is the most powerful out of the three. It consists of a House of Representatives and a Senate which forms Congress. This branch has powers that the others depend on, such as the executive branch because they rely on the legislative branch to vote in elections. One of the strongest powers the legislative branch holds is being the only branch to make new laws or change existing ones. The other branches have weaker powers because they can only veto laws, suggest new laws, or question laws. The legislative branch has a 1 up on power over the other branches of government. I think that the legislative branch has become too powerful. Even though I think that it has, it still gets the job done because it is proficient with everything it does.. • 5. What Is Sherman Alexie s The Absolutely True Diary Of A... When it comes to societies, all of them have their own customs. These customs force the people of each society to conform to specific standards in order to get along. Usually they have two types of rules; these are written and unwritten. The majority of the rules are written so that people will be more likely to follow them. On the other hand, unwritten rules are used to guide communication on a more personal level. This can be seen in the novel The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian by Sherman Alexie. The author uses the story of a bullied Indian named Junior who decides to go against societal norms and attend an all white school in order to challenge the views of each community. In this story, the Indians often resort to violence when faced with something that threatens their culture, or way of life. They see the fact... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After all, I was a reservation Indian, and no matter how geeky and weak I appeared to be, I was still a potential killer. So mostly they called me names. Lots of names (Alexie 63). This shows that they fear him just as much as he fears them. Soon, they realize he is not a threat to them, and they quickly became friends with him. Similarities Between Lost Of Motion And Lost In Motion When it comes to speaking or performing in front of an audience, everyone has their own ways of handling the situation, even if they don t have a fear of a big audience. Some people imagine their audience naked and some imagine themselves somewhere else. This trick to performing is expressed in both Lost in Motion and Lost in Motion 2 These short films depict two professional dancers performing breath taking moves, all while in perfect elegance. These two short films have both similarities and differences. The comparison of these films can be best categorized by its setting, its mood, and its music As stated in the introduction, both people in the Lost in Motion videos are both professional dancers. When the two dance, they seem to be alone in their thoughts. In Lost in Motion , the male dancer is performing his routine backstage behind the curtain, he is alone both in his mind and outside of it as well. The area where he is dancing is pitch black with blue lines complementing each strong movement. After he finishes his routine, he proceeds to enter onto the stage in front of the audience. In Lost in Motion 2 , the female dancer is performing in front of a live audience, however in her mind she is alone. In her mind, she is dancing on a giant floating rock structure in an ominous place filled with storms. While in this place, she dances on the edge, fearlessly. An analysis of BУ“umer s attitude toward the war reveals that the world of his former authority no longer exists. His first encounters on the front shatter his trust and belief in the views and teachings of the generation that should have been their mentors, directing this inexperienced Iron Youth (18) into the world and preparing him for what would have been his future life. Now, BУ“umer realizes that, if he survives the war, he can never return to ideas or desires of his youth nor ever truly re enter into the lives that the generations before and after him belong. The older generations, consisting of BУ“umer s parents and teachers, receive the war with a joyous enthusiasm of a chance to display German might and honor, though no one had an idea of what the soldiers, their children, would have to endure. They, especially BУ“umer s teacher Kantorek, took every possibility to persuasively impress this patriotic idea upon the younger generation: that duty to one s country is the greatest thing (13). His wrongful conviction was the result of failures by not only the public, but also law enforcement personnel and the criminal justice system, as we will further examine. According to the University of Michigan s Law School, Juan Rivera s initial arrest came on October 26th after Lake County Police received a tip from an informant. Rivera was then questioned for four days and at the end of the fourth day Rivera falsely confessed to Staker s rape and murder (University of Michigan Law School). Following his confession, the two interrogators went on to type a confession for Rivera to sign. After obtaining Rivera s signature, however, the prosecutor found the narrative to be incohesive, and asked the interrogators to correct it and to obtain Rivera s signature on the second written confession. Rivera s signature was later obtained on October 30th (University of Michigan Law School). Of course, it is tough to comprehend why a reasonable and innocent individual such as Mr. Rivera would confess to a crime he did not commit (Gould). • 12. Murder Is A Homicide Crime Murder Charges Murder is a homicide crime where there is an intentional killing of a human being by another human being with malice aforethought. Malice aforethought is what separates murder from other crimes such as voluntary or involuntary manslaughter ( Free Advice: Law, 2015). Murder can be classified into different degrees or types, but not all states break them up, but instead name the top type as capital murder. First Degree Murder In most states, first degree murder is defined as the unlawful killing on an individual after planning or lying in wait for the victim ( Find Law, 2015). The act must be performed out of willfulness, deliberation, and premeditation to be considered first degree murder in most states. Other acts of violent felonies such as arson, burglary, kidnapping, robbery, and rape that results in a death can also be charged as first degree murder ( Diffen, 2014). Willfulness is the intent to end human life, the life does not have to be a predetermined person so much as it has to be the thought of carrying out the act on another human being. If a person sets out to kill a human and unintentionally kills a different person the killer can still be charged with first degree murder ( Diffen, 2014, para. 2). Deliberation and premedication is determined individually on a case by case basis and it does not mean killer must think at any length of time or plan ahead for the murder to be considered premeditated ( Find Law, 2015). This change meant that not everyone in a population was necessary for the group s survival and therefore, some members had free time . This extra time allowed for advances in religion, writing, and politics, three key features of civilization. By studying these advances, we can better learn how civilization originally looked and we can examine the effects of their advances in today s society. With this new spare time usually allocated for hunting and gathering, early people logically looked for reasons to explain the nature of things. These explanations initiated the earliest forms of religion a prominent feature in the basis of both Mesopotamian and Egyptian life.1 Mesopotamians created and actively worshiped hundreds of gods, many of which explained different phenomena and could control how the forces of nature affected people. • 17. Analysis Of The Magdalene Sisters Directed by Peter Mullan in 2002, The Magdalene Sisters, focuses on four young women s experiences in a Dublin Magdalen Laundry from 1964 to 1968. Through telling the story of Margaret, Patricia, Bernadette and Harriet, all considered to be sexually deviant and subsequently imprisoned in a convent, Mullan s movie graphically depicts the systematic punishment and demoralization of young women at the hands of their unforgiving parents, the state, the Catholic Church as well as the community in denial. Though each woman has a different story both before and during their stay in the laundry, the film reveals that they were victims to deep, unflinching religious beliefs and a deep seated contempt for and fear of female sexuality, a dark and oppressive aspect of Irish society in the 19th and 20th centuries. Although the entire movie authentically depicts how church, state, family and community colluded in, and therefore share culpability for, the abuse of women in Magdalen laundries, specific scenes, such as the rape in the opening wedding scene, the Corpus Christi festival and the emotional abuse in the shower scene highlight the shame and embarrassment as well as oppression that women faced in Ireland in the mid 20th century. • 20. In The Bissula Analysis In his pioneering work, The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire, Edward Gibbon writes that the poetical fame of Ausonius condemns the taste of his age. Indeed, Ausonius s work may seem uncomplicated on the surface: he borrows heavily from previous literature and uses straightforward syntax. However, his work contains depth beyond its ostensible simplicity: it blends genres and uses consistent themes as narrative foci to guide the reader. In two of his most prominent poems, liquid (as water and drink) is the key interpretive control: In the Bissula, alcohol provides wisdom that counters the confining seriousness of sobriety, while in the Moselle the river provides calm comfort that contrasts with the hectic unnatural world. Throughout both poems, Ausonius consistently uses liquid to contrast the serenity and clarity provided by water and drink with the chaos of the dry world. In the Bissula, alcohol plays a key role as the interpretive control. Ausonius addresses the reader directly, proclaiming that his poems are unserious. He writes that I follow Thymele (4), classifying his work as relaxing entertainment more than serious literature. Indeed, he requests that the reader drink before you read (6) in order to best understand the poem. During the organization of a social movement, framing was as a way to assign meaning (McAdam, 339) or look at events in ways that could inspire support from both group members and the common people while subjugating the opposing party. McAdam (339) states, Mediating between opportunity and action are people and the... meanings they attach to their situations. The events that occur during the rise of a social movement all present opportunities to help members achieve their goal but in order to even act upon these opportunities, the people involved must frame their situation in a way that will draw support to their cause. During the Civil Rights movement, the use of framing, on both sides, greatly influenced the outcome of social reform. McAdam states that there are six strategies social movement groups can employ to bring about change. In the case of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr and the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC), even though blacks could now vote legal subterfuge and extralegal intimidation prevented them from taking part of political reform in the south (McAdam, 345). Both parties are represented by professional negotiators: Myra Hart is representing the Hawkins Company and Genia is representing the Discount Marketplace. The Hawkins Company is a real estate developer, who is operating across UK, offering different types of services, such as: Mortgages, Energy Performance Certificates, Sales and Lettings. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Developer wished that the Retailer would deal only with soft goods, and asked them to use same product mix for all locations around the country. The proposal was declined because the Retailer felt it was limiting to deal with only soft goods. Retailer wanted to be free in selecting the type of goods and services. Their argument was that they needed to be more flexible regarding their product mix in order to achieve innovation and to follow their advertising strategy. Also the Retailer didn t agree to use the same product mix across country because their main activity was based around a strategy of adapting the product mix. In order to get to an agreement the Developer suggested limiting the activity to some percentage of the operation area. They offered a limit of 10 15% for trial. The Retailer accepted the offer and issue was solved. 2. Operating Covenant Developer s concern about the contract duration was that the Discount Marketplace would operate for only as long as the business would be viable. Their aspiration level was to sign the contract for a period of minimum 15 years and their soft constrain was to sign the contract for a minimum of 10 years. Developer needed to be sure that the retailer would perform the best they can and they needed to be safe in case the Marketplace wanted to make sudden changes after signing the contract, like changing the location too soon. I was passing by the customs house while a group of boys began to yell and hollering at some British soldiers. As the boys continued the soldiers began to fluster, so much to the point that he strikes one of the boys with his rifle. And as soon as I can blink, I was in the middle of a crowd surrounding the soldier. As the crowd grew, more soldiers came to his side. The crowd started to get out of control so one of the soldiers picked up his musket and fired into the crowd and so his allies followed suit with one of the musket shots nearly missing me. All of the citizens run in all directions and the crowd nearly trampling children. I returned home and later discovered that the soldiers were placed under house arrest and soon after taken to jail and charged for the death of several people. At certain wavelengths or colors lasers go into the skin tissue and generate oxygen radicals, which kill the bacteria and reduce inflammation. At other wavelengths, lasers are basically heat sources that reduce sebum [an oily substance produced by certain skin glands] production by killing and reducing the number of sebaceous glands. • 31. The Four Types Of Operant Conditioning Operant conditioning is a type of learning which occurs through either receiving reinforcement or punishment for a behavior. This type of learning creates an association between a behavior and consequence for that behavior. The four types of operant conditioning are positive reinforcement, positive punishment, negative reinforcement, and negative punishment. If operant conditioningwas used properly it could be used to solve a variety of social and resource dilemmas; especially in the case of the cattle ranchers and overgrazing. Positive reinforcement is when a positive stimulus is added in hopes of increasing a behavior. This could be that the ranchers are actually paid for not using the common land whose quality has begun to deteriorate. By paying ranchers to use either their own land, or pay to use a different land, it would give the common land pasture time to get in better condition. Also if you paid ranchers to only use their own land, not only would the common land pasture increase in quality, but the rancher s land would most likely stay in good condition because that land belongs to the racher. A huge problem with the tragedy of the commons is that people abuse common resources because no one has ownership over them; they are nonexcludable but rival, so everyone s use of those resources quickly depletes the supply of it. Negative reinforcement is when an aversive stimulus is taken away in order to increase behavior. If the ranchers were already receiving annual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, I will confess there is much fun to be found in the fanciful wordplay. Not only are we asked to fill in a piece of the story, requiring knowledge of the plot line at this point in the story, but the task also prompts a deeper understanding of the literary devices and influences present in this style of writing. A task of this nature not only familiarizes students with both the plot line and the technical aspects of the writing, but also fosters an opportunity to incorporate creativity and merge all of these dynamic fragments into a single masterpiece. To begin, I considered the surrounding plot of the story. Just before the section begins we learn of the dragon who we soon discover is a major player in this epic tale. Thus far in the story the dragon has played a rather dormant role. Beowulf has been ruling the kingdom for over 50 years and we have heard not a single mention of the beast that sleeps as he guards his sparkly trove of wealth. At this point we are also introduced to an escaped slave who wakes the fiery beast by stealing a gem studded goblet from the lair. He claims that his thievery was in fact accidental, and so proceeds the tale of his misadventures in the earthen pit. His story recounts that as he was escaping the chains of slavery he unknowingly stumbled upon the lair, by chance finding himself amid the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Analysis Of How Soon Is Now By John Morrissey The Smiths are widely considered a band with lyrics constantly bordering on poetry, and Morrissey s song writing ability was and still is unparalleled. Songs like their 1985 hit how soon is now? broke through this barrier, with lyrics based on and taken from famous literature such as George Elliot s Middemarch, and the end product being one of the most lyrically complex and emotive songs ever composed, improved only by the solemn strumming of the band behind the lyrical genius of Morrissey. The profoundness of this comment is only recognizable when one considers the struggle to find somebody to love them in a world where their attraction to somebody of the same sex was not only questioned but attacked, and the sense of isolation felt by people such as Morrissey, after spending their nights searching for romantic connection, but frequently ending at home ... Wonder what the verdict is constitutionally? Let s dig in and find out. The conflict of school prayer goes all the way back to the nineteenth century. There was a lot of immigrants coming to the United States, and the majority of them were catholic. A big influence on making school prayerin schools were mainly catholic and other denominational and non denominational groups. In the twentieth century, a number of states passed laws that it was mandatory for schools to have prayer and bible readings everyday before class. School Prayer should be permitted in the United States because it is in the constitution, former presidents have promoted it; and teachers would have freedom of religionin the class. The Supreme Court made school prayer unconstitutional, but is still debated today. People who agree with prayer say that if they remove prayer, that it is the public school s mission to provide children with an education in mores and values, as well as academic preparation. Supporters also say that when students volunteer to pray, they have the right to the law of separation of church and state, and other laws between the lines of freedom of religion. • 43. What Is Cleopatra Bulls Even though the Ptolemies had been ruled over 300 years in Egypt, they had their roots in Greek culture. There were many differences that got in the way between the Greek and Egyptian cultures and religions that caused problems between the Egyptian people and their rulers. In Michael Grant s biography of Cleopatra, he describes this when he says, The large number of different animals worshipped by the Egyptians was one of the many aspects of their religion that the Greeks found baffling and shocking. (9) While most Greeks saw weird rituals, Cleopatra saw opportunity. Right as Cleopatra took the throne, one of the holy bulls died. There were a handful of sacred bulls that the Egyptians kept around in the major cities that were honored as the living souls of certain Egyptian Gods. When one bull died it was replaced so that the God could enter the new bulls. These bulls were incredibly well taken care of as they had staff dedicated to making sure the bulls made it to public events and ceremonies. When the bull died, Cleopatra took the chance to win the Egyptians endearment, by leaving Alexandria, sailing the entire royal fleet to the city the bull had died and overseeing the replacement of the new bull personally. Architecture is one thing that often varies vastly from civilization to civilization. Native Americans used nature in a respectful way to build their homes. Once they had a design for a house that worked they replicated it. No need to improve on something when you could just stick with it, after all, it did work. On the other hand, Europeans had a much more upgrade and replace the idea of architecture. They were constantly trying to build things bigger, better, faster, and defy gravity with their tall extravagant buildings. Medicine is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Time, Work-Discipline And Industrial Capitalism In E.P. Thompson s essay Time, Work Discipline, and Industrial Capitalism , he argues how the rise of standardized time, which coincided with employed labor and capitalism, changed how people view time from how time passes to time spent . Time became a commodity in which it could be bought and sold. Timethat was not spent properly was considered wasted, which Thompson calls time thrift, which preindustrial societies were not very preoccupied with in comparison. Thompson explores this transition of the sense of time in relationship to the Industrial Revolution, benefits and disadvantages to the new time discipline, and a possible mixture of the old and new time disciplines in the future. Thompson starts out describing how people measured time before clocks and the Industrial Revolution. People measured time in units of domestic activities or natural phenomena, which can be described as task orientation. Thompson considers this type of time measuring to be natural and believes that a task oriented society results in little distinction between work and life. However, to people used to timed labor, such an attitude to labor appeared to be wasteful. When employed labor is involved, productivity in terms of time becomes important, because the employer generally pays the worker in terms of time. For many jobs, then a shift from task orientation to timed labor occurs, as the laborer s time becomes the employer s money. Thus, a separation between work and leisure occurs, as ... Hidden Health Risks According to WebMD, the fact that visceral fat originates in the orifices within the body, the absence of a substantial amount of visible fat can give a person a false sense of security as far as their health is concerned. What makes this even scarier is the fact that by the time a person recognizes that they have belly fat, it will have been accumulating for some time. Assessing the risk is actually rather simple. Even if belly fat is not visible, its presence will cause the waist to expand. Health experts suggest that the easiest method for assessing risk is to use a tape measure to measure the waist the larger the number the greater the risk. For women, a waist measure of 35 inches or more is cause for concern, while a 40 inch waist for men should send up a red flag.
