Analysis Of Claude Levi Strauss s Black As Slacker...
Claude Lévi Strauss was a French anthropologist who believed that the myths created and told by a
society could be a window into the beliefs and conflicts of that society. As a Structuralist, Lévi Strauss
saw stories as language and sought to understand their underlying grammar. This he believed centered
on pairs of opposite ideas, held by the culture, but creating tension within it the raw and the cooked,
the sacred and the profane, and so on. School of Rock, a 2003 film starring Jack Black as slacker
Dewey Finn, shows the tension between a truly American pair of opposites: laziness vs. hard work.
While in other mythologies it is a trickster character who mediates between these opposites, the nature
of this American pair, and the surrounding culture, make it necessary that the trickster not remain so;
he has to join one side or the other. Claude Lévi Strauss sought a scientific approach to the
interpretation of the meaning of myths. To perform an analysis, he would first collect every version
and variant of a myth possible. Each version would be broken down into its individual plot elements,
and these elements were then plotted on a chart to show how they fit together. The charts would be
compared across variants, and eventually the true meaning of the myth would emerge. Any scientist
knows that a large data pool is indispensable for getting good results. Unfortunately, there is only one

American Superheroes Influence On Society During The 1940s
The 1940s were known as the golden age of comics. Many superheroes recognizable in mainstream
popular culture today originated during this time, becoming favorites of the young and old alike.
Unsurprisingly, superheroes usually experience their greatest success during times of transition and
uncertainty, such as America moving from economic crisis into armed conflict (Bainbridge 746).
While this essay will be focusing on the overall influence of all American Superheroes on society
during the 1940s, a specific focus will be placed on two of the most well known created heroes:
Superman and Captain America. Both Superman and Captain America first emerged as the nation was
coming out of the Great Depression and headed into World War II (Bainbridge 746). Therefore,
protagonists like these two as well as comic books in general were crucial during the 1940s because
they acted as lighthearted distractions from real world issues, devices of cultural influence as well as a
big source of earning for publishers.

Over the last several decades many comic book movies have been released to box office success. The
industry is one that has continued to flourish because of evolving technology to make exciting and
creative displays for entertainment. Comics as a source of entertainment wasn t always the case.
Between the Great Depression and the War, living the American Dream had become a far fetched idea.
Comic books and the introduction of superheroes provided society to escape into a fantasy world
where everything wrong in the world was nonexistent thanks to these heroes. Additionally, the
continued development of superheroes became proved to be positive role models for kids. The
expansion of superhero popularity in the media showed that superheroes thinking about law and
justice spread beyond comics, reaching a large audience (Bainbridge

Interplanetary Dust and Orbital Debris
INTERPLANETARY DUST AND ORIBITAL DEBRIS
Introduction
The interplanetary dust particles are sized in between few cm to molecules. The dust particles are
charged with +ve charge due to solar wind. The positive charge helps in reacting to the Lorentz force.
The interplanetary dust grain population mainly originates in the main asteroid belt that is located
between 2 to 4 astronomical units (AU) from the Sun. Dust forms in collisions between bodies of
different sizes and energies or may be carried in by comets. 10 % of the dust formed by collisions in
this area is transported towards the Sun via the Poynting Robertson drag. The remaining 90 % leave
the solar system hyperbolic orbits as newly formed interstellar dust. Dust grain orbits are mainly
influenced by gravity. Their orbital motion is Keplerian. Most of the dust grains stemming from the
asteroid belt orbit the Sun with low eccentricities and, thus, near circular orbits.
Material properties of IDP
The Most of the dust in the inner solar system is assumed to originate from parent bodies orbiting in
the Main Asteroid belt .the materials are divided into 3 main Chrondrites 60%,Achrondrites 10% and
Irons 30%. Chrondrites contains Mg, Al, Si, S, Ca, Cr, Mn, Fe and Ni.
IDP motion dynamics
The dynamics of interplanetary dust particles are determined by a variety of forces that
Can change the parameters of a dust grain s orbital motion. Very small IDP has perturbation by other
forces. The P R effect (pointing Robertson effect)

Edgar Allen Poe s The Pit And The Pendulum
The unit question asks whether or not the hero of Edgar Allen Poe s The Pit and the Pendulum would
realistically be able to escape the descending blade swinging on a pendulum. The question is a matter
of time, is it feasible for the protagonist to escape the pendulum with the allotted amount of time.
Based on standard deviation and testing a pendulum of the same scale as the one mentioned in the
story, the answer is no. The protagonist mentions that he believed 10 12 periods of the pendulum
would result in the blade coming in contact with his torso. Using the formula developed in class for
the period of a pendulum, it would take the 30 foot pendulum described in the story about 72 seconds
to complete 12 periods. Testing the actual 30 foot yielded similar results within 1 2 seconds of 72
seconds. Therefore, it is fair to say that the hero is working with 72 seconds to free himself. This does
not seem like enough time to develop an escape strategy, act on the strategy, and leave without getting
hit bit the pendulum. The method the hero describes involves thinking about the situation and then
employing the help of nearby rats. He also mentions, Yet one minute, and I felt that the struggle would
be over, as if to imply he had 1 minute to spare. Since he was reflecting and then enticing the rats to
gnaw through the rope it is not likely that it took only 12 seconds to escape. 72 seconds does not seem
like enough time for the hero to complete his escape. However, the thickness of the rope and speed of
the rats are factors that could affect the outcome.
Standard deviation is a way of visualizing how spread out points of data are in a set. Using standard
deviation helps to determine how rare or common an occurrence is. For example, data points falling
within the boundaries of one standard deviation typically account for about 68% of data and those
between (+/ )1 standard deviation and (+/ )2 standard deviations make about 27% combined. This can
be better visualized by using a bell graph. Using the mean and standard deviation, the points where
standard deviations occur can be drawn on the graph to better understand which data is rare and which
is common.
Standard deviation was used to help solve the unit

The Flame And Its Beauty
An immensely dense, dark fog covered the sky for many hours, intensifying in color with each long,
drawn out minute that passed. The only visibility of my surroundings that I had was from the tiny
spark of light created by my lantern. The delicate flame was keeping me company while offering me a
source of comfort in the back of the shaky, jolting buggy. The flicker of the flame entranced me, the
slight warmth produced by it drawing me in. I sat there, studying the flame and its beauty. I had never
been one to fear the dark; the still of night was a beautiful contrast to the vibrant daytime. Nightmares
were things created and fabricated within the mind. The idea of fear was simply a product of an
overactive imagination, and I had been told to suppress the idea of any impossible creatures lurking in
the darkness of my room. My childhood years seemed to be a distant memory, despite the reality only
being a few years prior. A lot had changed since then; I had grown up too fast, and tragedy had fallen
upon me that had aged me beyond my years. I had been anxiously awaiting the arrival at my mistress s
house since embarking upon the long journey at the first gleam of morning sun. I had never had
experience as a maid, nevertheless I was forced into this job as most of my money was gone. I needed
to find a way to take care of myself now that I had no family to support me. Part of me felt
apprehensive, the other half filled with intrigue about where this twisted adventure would

The Knowledge Of The Natural Sciences And History Based On...
When the quote states, attempt to know the world , it is regarding the gain of knowledge. This is
because knowledge is the understanding of the physical world surrounding us and beyond. Plato
defined knowledge as justified, true belief, meaning that for knowledge to be legitimate, it must be
justified by sources such as reason, empirical evidence or memory. Secondly, the term assumptions in
the quote should also be explored. According to the oxford dictionary, assumptions can be defined as
something that is accepted as true without proof . Therefore the quote is stating that our knowledge of
the world is based on a set of assumptions. The second part of the assertion produces the knowledge
issues of the inability of testing the knowledge. The oxford dictionary defines tested as taking
measurements to check the reliability of the something. Therefore, a key question that comes from this
quote is: To what extent are all knowledge in the natural sciences and history based on assumptions
and is it possible to test it s reliability?
The first knowledge issue from this quote is that the knowledge gained from the physical world is
based on things that without proof. This knowledge issue can be interlinked with the area of
knowledge of natural sciences. The natural sciences study the rules that govern the natural world by
applying an empirical and scientific method to study of the universe. It is considered on of the more

Example Of The Values And Values Of Mahatma Gandhi
Question 1
A) Yes I agree that these are examples of personal mission statements
In the first source Mahatma Gandhi states his values and goals by which he adheres to daily! It helps
him PRIORITISE and plan his daily routine and motivates him to stay on the right path in life. Even
when challenged in his daily life, his mission statement helps him stay focused on his goals, thus
motivating him to succeed! Dr Stephen R Covey stated that Gandhi worked within himself until he
won the private victory and learned the philosophy of his life . (Covey, 2008) This clearly emphasises
the fact that his mission statement personal he strove to make himself a better person in order to

of the 300 million people in India. He showed them hope and showed them that they too could rise up

In the days leading to India gaining independence Gandhi could have easily assumed a leading role in
taking a powerful role in government. He didn t do that! Instead he wanted to unite his people and

The European Slave Trade
Europeans were looking for a way to trade with china. During this time they managed to stumble
across the americas. At first, europeans just used the americas for its resources. Later they realized
they could take the land. After settling in the americas europeans needed slaves for many reasons.
Portugal started the atlantic slave trade by shipping african slaves from their trading post in Africa.
The Atlantic slave trade had many causes and effects during the Atlantic world which ends up
changing the new world and the way it develops. Africans were chosen as slaves for the atlantic slave
trade. Europeans had easy access to these people. They went to leaders on the coast of Africa and
traded their trade goods for slaves in return. The leaders had often gotten slaves from villages within
africa. The Europeans then took the africans and shipped them across the Atlantic to the new world.

labor were overworked and died way faster than any other labor. Europeans made gang labor happen
in places they knew they could make a profit in the time of the slaves lives. The other labor practice
was the task system. Slaves had to do a certain amount of tasks for the day to keep from getting
punished and if they managed to get it done they could do whatever they wanted in the bounds of
slavery. Europeans did this when they wanted the slaves to live longer and to last longer. The slaves

Marquis De Lafayette Characteristics
Marquis de Lafayette was one of the biggest figures in American Revolution history. Lafayette was a
volunteer soldier in the American Revolution, he came with the sole purpose of avenging his father s
death against the English in the French and Indian wars. He soon grew to believe in the patriot s
beliefs of freedom and equality. Lafayette said, Defender of Liberty I idolize, myself more free than
anyone, as coming as a friend to offer my services to this intriguing republic... (Vowell 16). He also
showed great zeal for the cause of liberty (Vowell 1) which later helped him move up through the
ranks to the position of major general. The young Frenchman s first battle was the Battle of
Brandywine, where he fought alongside the prestigious George Washington. In this battle he was shot
in the leg and had to leave; but he cut short his recovery time so he could continue fighting. Lafayette
s fervor for the war won him the highly desired trust of General George Washington, which then led
him to be one of the most esteemed generals of all time. His dedication inspired many other French
soldiers to join the American cause. He was both a vocal defender and a great example by his
leadership and courage in the Revolutionary War. His most important battle was the Battle of
Yorktown in 1781. With his royal relations in France, he was able to transfer extra French military
officers and ships to aid the Americans in this momentous battle. Lafayette s skilled military sense was

Women s Inequality In Honduras
Throughout history, women have been viewed as the inferior sex. Due to this, women have faced
discrimination all over the world. This has had many negative impacts on the lives women, one of
these being on their health. Poor health in women is often associated with domestic and sexual
violence, cultural and religious oppression, and lack of access to education, as well as many other
factors. One of the most delicate things that a woman can go through is pregnancy. Many women
around the world have to give birth without the assistance of a professional and die during childbirth
or during the 48 hour period after. Many of these deaths can be avoided if the appropriate measures
were to be taken. The Republic of Honduras believes that action must be taken to improve the health
of women globally. Health is a fundamental right of every human being and should not be denied to

Factors That Affect Resilience
In my term paper, I would like to talk about Resilience which I believe is a prerequisite for an
effective leader. Life has ups and downs and adversities are inevitable. Things can beyond our control,
it is impossible for us to prevent unpleasant circumstances from happening. Difficulties and problems
come out of nowhere, the stress and anxiety associated with adversity may knock us down if we cope
with them inadequately. Chronic stress can lead to mental collapse if we still cannot manage them
well, which is definitely undesirable for a leader because it can affect the cooperation with others as
well as the team morale.
First of all, I would like to define what resilience is. Major scholars believe it is the process to recover
from trauma, or the ability to respond to adversity. According to Sergeant and Laws Chapman (2012),
resilience refers to the ability to adapt to adverse conditions while maintaining a sense of purpose,
balance, and positive mental and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are several factors can contribute to and affect resilience, are as follows:
1) Personal attributes
I believe it is one of the major determinants of resilience. Having personal attributes such as calm,
patience and adventurous will facilitate us to become a more resilient person. We will not become
panic stricken and lose control of ourselves when we encounter adversity. Other positive traits such as
cheerful and optimistic can also conduce to resiliency. It can help us to find positive meanings in our
lives despite adversity. On the contrary, negative traits such as pessimistic, impulsive and emotionally
unstable can affect our resiliency and also our well being.
2) Family cohesion and relationships
It is also a key factor affecting resilience. A positive, supportive and cohesive family relationship can
promote our resiliency. Relatives are the important props to support us when we are experiencing
adversity.

Pet Dogs As Promoters Of Wellbeing
Pet dogs as promoters of wellbeing
How do you feel about dogs? Do you like them and every time you see them do you want to run and
hug them or do you just avoid them in general? Do they make you smile with their floppy ears and
how just clumsy they are when they run. We all have different reasons for loving dogs or just
despising them. In this entry you will learn that owning a dog can help you. It can potentially keep you
healthy and lower risks from heart diseases and many other things.
Throughout the article that I have read the author, White seems to be creditable to talk about the topic.
She adds a lot of facts and give description about how the it changes lives. When she begins she jumps
right into the point. She adds When the World Health Organization published its policy framework for
healthy ageing. The importance of enabling people to live independent and active lives as long as
possible were prominent objectives with physical activity and engagement in all aspects of society as
key components of healthy ageing. She then goes to give details that it helps with your daily activity
owning a dog. It says that people that own dogs get more daily activity than non dog owners. White
gives us reason and reason to believe that she knows what she is talking about and it also
compassionate about the facts that she gives us. When White talks about the older people and how the
dogs can improve their live. You can tell that she is compassionate about the topic that

Comparing A Perfect Day For Bananafish And The Secret Life...
A Perfect Day for Bananafish and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty have many elements that they share
very similarly, such as imagery. However, there are many pieces of these stories that completely
change the mood and thoughts towards them such as, symbolism and character foil. A Perfect Day for
Bananafish, has the most elements that are better than The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. A Perfect Day
for Bananafish, is a short story about a newlywed couple on a honeymoon in New York after WWII.
The story introduces us to the characters Muriel, the wife who is obsessed and is always shown with
some type of material, Seymour, a war veteran, and Sybil, a little girl. The story centers around about
Seymour and Sybil and the bananafish in the ocean. And in the bitter end; the suicide of Seymour
Glass. The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, is a short story, about a man named Mr. Mitty running errands
for his wife and experiencing strange and serious fantasies of a much stronger, more important Mr.
Mitty. A Perfect Day for Bananafish has more examples of the literary elements than The Secret Life
of Walter Mitty, some of these elements include symbolism, character foil, and imagery.
A Perfect Day for Bananafish, follows the characters Seymour and Sybil and their quest for
bananafish. In the very beginning when we learn of the honeymoon of the Glass s, to the very end of
the quickly and grizzly death of Seymour Glass, the imagery in A Perfect Day for Bananafish help set

The Unknown Citizen By F. H. Auden, A P
In the three literary works that were chosen, The Known Citizen by W. H. Auden, A P by John Updike,
and Antigone by Sophocles has a theme that is known to be conformity and rebellious. The poem The
Unknown Citizen is mainly about the unknown man who is a conformist because he listens to all the
rules that are made for the society. On the other hand, the short story A P has a conformist character
who enforces the rules for the supermarket and a rebellious character who goes against the rules for
the supermarket. Similar to A P the play Antigone also has a conformist character who likes to go by
the rules that the society has made; however, a rebellious character who is always goes against the

within these writings. A rebellious person is someone who does not follow the rules that are given to
them; therefore, the rebellions go against the rules.
Within the three different pieces of writings there is a character who represents conformity within
them. For instance, W. H. Auden wrote the poem The Unknown Citizen . This poem has a main
character that represents a conformist; however, this character does not have a name which is why the

Comparison Between Lift And Stack
At first glance, these three photographs are easily understood, it seems to be a village rebuilding after
a natural disaster or possibly just a normal day of work. However, there is so much more to see. For
example, the five men in red in the photograph on the far left Lift and Stack, are dressed quite
differently from the people around them. Which means to me that they came to help from either a
nearby village or, more likely in my opinion, a monastery from their attire and shaved heads. These
men seem to be loading firewood into the bed of a truck to bring to less fortunate areas, with the help
of village natives. The village in the background seems to be in better shape than the other two
photographs, which makes it even more likely that they are moving the firewood to those who are in
need.

The Exorcist By William Peter Blatty
In William Peter Blatty s novel, The Exorcist, a thirteen year old girl becomes ill. The mother, Chris
MacNeil, believes that her daughter is possessed by a demon after doctors are unable to diagnose the
child. Mrs. MacNeil seeks help from Father Karras after the doctors tell her to go to a priest. Father
Karras, a priest and psychiatrist, declined the idea of performing an exorcism on the girl after Mrs.
MacNeil asked him for the favor. Father Karras tried to reason with Mrs. MacNeil that the girl, Regan

after he was unable to diagnose Regan. In his novel, The Exorcist, William Peter Blatty argues that

Besides the doctors who tried diagnosing Regan, Father Karras suggested that Regan had split
personality and tried to explain it to Chris:
The human brain contains, say, seventeen billion cells... we see that they handle approximately a
hundred million messages per second; that s the number of sensations bombarding your body. They
not only integrate all of these messages, but they do it efficiently... Now imagine that the human body
is a massive ocean liner... all of your brain cells are the crew... Now the captain is you, it s your
waking consciousness. And what happens in dual personality is that one of those crew cells down
below deck comes up on the bridge and takes over command. In other words, mutiny. (Blatty 240)
Father Karras suggests that Regan has multiple personalities rather than being possessed because he
believes that an exorcism is not the solution for what Regan is experiencing. Chris is told that her
daughter is not possessed, but she is sick. In order to find the correct illness, Chris took Regan to
multiple doctors so that they could properly diagnose her. The first doctor that Regan went to gave her
an electroencephalograph, or an EEG, which shows the doctors the pattern of her brain waves and
would indicate abnormal functioning of the brain (Blatty 108). With the test being done on Regan, the
doctor hoped to find symptoms that could match an illness. As a result, the EEG showed that Regan
did not have abnormal functioning due

The Virtual Intrusion Detection System
The Virtual Intrusion Detection System a traditional IDS is only an element in the security chain
architecture. It does not eliminate the need for protections to prevent attacks. The virtual intrusion
detection system (V IDS) is a disruptive idea for the security of cloud architecture. Virtual IDS is
software and sometimes hardware that captures cloud network and host activity data in reporting tools,
analyzes the data interactively, provides an automatic reaction (e.g., alarm) during an incident, and
after an incident routes the cloud data to a security channel defined at runtime. Figure 4.2: Secure

In the V IDS context, the module uses two different methods for analysis: The attack signature
represents the simplest way to analyze IDS data. It is like static packet filtering, which is similar to the
firewall rationale. Anomaly detection (heuristics) represents the most sophisticated technique, in
which heuristic patterns try to detect variations from historically normal operation. 4.6.2 Decision
module The decision module is part of the close chain control system that, using the data which has
arrived from the analysis module, makes decisions about the real time actions necessary to solve
anomalies related to network intrusions. This module implements the logic necessary to analyze
behaviors and makes decisions about the anomalies discovered. 4.6.3 Action module The action

How Chinese Cinema Has Reflected And Shaped The Idea Of...
Cinema and movies are the true reflections of nation as well as society, both in the present and past.
The movies and its modernisms occasionally have to catch up to the idea of nation, however
sometimes it leads and shapes nation too. According to Berry and Farquhar (2006), Chinese movies
have played a critical role in shaping nation and national identity amongst Chinese. This essay will
mainly focus on how Chinese cinema has reflected and shaped the idea of nation. Apart from that, the
history of Chinese cinema, other famous traits such as Beijing opera and martial arts are also debated
in how it reflects nation. Additionally, I will examine how the framing and characterization of Lee,
and in specific in his role as Chen Zhen in the film Fist of Fury compresses within the masculine body
of Bruce Lee the character of Chinese nationalism and masculinity. What do cinema and movies
actually mean? The term cinema is defined as the art of moving pictures or a visual media that tells
stories, exposes reality and conveys messages. On the other hand, movies, also called a film or motion
picture is also a story that is communicated with animating images. Besides that, the cinema often
reflects to specific degree the culture, traditions and heritage of a nation, its historical concerns as well
as its societies enjoyments, sorrows and hopes throughout history. Nowadays, many people around the
world may watch movies as just a form of entertainment, but it is certainly more than

E-Health Prevention Program
In 2014, a study was published to determine the effectiveness of a prevention program that would
reduce the risk of chronic diseases. As stated in the study, according to the Centers for Disease Control
and Prevention, one out of 10 Americans is living with a form of chronic illness. These chronic
diseases are a result of modifiable health risk behaviors such as sedentary lifestyle, malnutrition,
alcoholism, and use of tobacco. If these risk factors were transformed into healthy behaviors, it would
eliminate at least 80% of heart disease, stroke, and type 2 diabetes and 40% of all cancer which are the
leading causes of death in the United States. The study was composed of a population of employees

true, the reason for such low attendance at the Annual Benefits Fair because employees in these two
groups did not come. If the researchers of this study wanted to improve their study, they

Fencing Personal Statement
I am intrinsically an artist who wants to mold the world. I am no painter, rather an aspiring sculptor
hidden as a nerdy teenager, who fences, who wishes to pursue the field of neuroscience through
oncology, and who seeks to help individuals by creatively solving medical issues.
Years ago, my avid interest in neuroscience originated from reading my aunt s medical dictionary;
however, growing up, greater complexities enshrouded my mind. The brain s ability to communicate
with different organs provides copious possibilities; thus, the brain s fallibility is fascinating.
Miscommunications in the central nervous system alone can often produce problems. Therefore, the
intricate mistakes morph into irrevocable diseases that I want to solve.
Fencing, like neuroscience, immensely invigorates my mind and body. Originally designed as a
temporary hobby, the sport serves as an escape and as artistry. Through tactical and technical
maneuvers, fencing teaches me about grace and creative duplicity. Thus, I can toy with my opponents
like a cat toys with a mouse. Consequently, putting on my mask helps me escape into a completely
different world that engenders omnipotence. Through intoxicating adrenaline, I crush my physical and
emotional barriers, by transforming into anyone ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Tppa Pros And Cons
The Trans Pacific Partnership Agreement is a free trade agreement between 44 different countries
controlling 40% of the world s economic output. It spans over 4 continents, comprising of 800 million
people, and $28.5 trillion of combined gross domestic product between the 12 pact countries. The
TPPA is the world s largest free trade agreement to ever exist. This partnership agreement achieves its
power by implementing new rules and regulations in their attempt to improve the global economy.
However, if the agreement is passed, the new laws introduced will negatively impact the Canadian
economy because it strips away basic human rights and needs or make them harder to obtain by

However, the Trans Pacific Partnership has been secretly conducting the Intellectual Property
Protection Provision (IPPP) to counteract the purpose of the OHIP. Instead of providing medication
and free health services, the agreement makes access to health care more expensive and less
accessible. Leaked documents found by Stephen Cornish, director of Docrtors Without
Boarders/Médecins Sans Frontiéres, wrote an article entitled Trans Pacific Partnership which reveal
the Patent Extension Provision law part of the IPPP allowing a 20 year extended patent guarantee for
modifications on existing drugs. The effect of this will increase drug costs, lengthen the time period
needed to put new medication on shelves, and delay generic competitions from producing less
expensive versions of drugs which are vital to global health. The U.S.A is also pushing for stringent
intellectual property protections on drugs to give dominant pharmaceutical companies longer
monopolies over generic brand name drugs. According to Scott Sinclair and Stuart Trew from The
National Observer, they stated in their article Implications for Canada of a Fast Tracked TPP that
patent extensions will add at least $800 million annually to Canadian drug costs, which is already the
second highest in the world.

Definition Of Frames
A frame is a set of contexts and perspectives that defines how an individual perceives and responds to
facts, events or people. Frames are intellectual stereotypes that make the interpretation of the world
around us easy by filtering out details that we believe or have found in the past to be insignificant.
This simplification sometimes has its own problems that can in turn be addressed by reframing. The
deliberate and conscious management, reformation and refinement of frames that aims to address and
minimize the conflict between how things are and how one perceives it, is called reframing.
Reframing, essentially, is a process of analyzing, reshaping and improving frames so that the reflective
practitioners may be able to better understand

Preventing Catheter Associated Urinary Tract Infections
Preventing Catheter Associated Urinary Tract Infections Zaahira Sidq Drexel University Preventing
Catheter Associated Urinary Tract Infections Urinary tract infections are one of the most hospital
acquired infections in the country. With so much technology and evidence based practice, why is this
still an ongoing problem worldwide? Could it simply be the basics of hygiene or just patient
negligence? The purpose of this paper is to identify multiple studies that have been done to reduce or
prevent hospital associated urinary tract infections. In these articles you will find the use of different
interventions that will aid in lowering the risk of these hospital acquired infections. In the first article,
the author s goal is too reduce urinary tract infections by implementing an evidence based approach.
By doing so it focuses on the importance of the nurses, physicians and staff working together as a
team to reduce the urinary tract infections. The nurse driven protocol is what was tested, observing
how the nursing staff communicated and how they followed evidence based practice approach. Also,
focusing on an academic practice partnership to enhance patient outcomes (Johnson, Gilman, Linter,

Are Ads Harming Our Children
Are Ads Harming Our Children? To ban or not to ban, that is the question in this case. I was acually
watching this television show the other day and on it, there was a little boy watching T.V. when a
commercial for a stuffed animal came on. Instead of hearing what the commercial was actually saying,
all it showed was the stuffed animal trying to convince the little boy to get his parents to buy it. The
little boy then, would not stop asking his parents until they finally got it for him. So maybe, it s not
just the ads fault, it could be also the way most parents comply when their child begs for something. In
this essay, I m going to show alternative methods to keeping kids healthy and creating a better place

Have you ever heard of a story told by a dog? The Mixer, written by P.G Wodehouse, is a cute and
funny story about a dog that is adopted by a robber. Blackie, the narrator/main character, is a dog that
misinterprets anything and unexpectedly saves his new family from the robber. As a result of Blackie s
distinct character traits, he doesn t understand certain events which makes him a unreliable narrator.
However, these same traits make him a believable dog. Blackie has a very oblivious personality. For
example, on page 77 of the book is says I looked at the man with a great deal of respect. He was
evidently someone important, if they worried so much about his health. However, when you look at
the sentence before that, the policeman says to the man, They told me to tell you you needed a change
of air. See? This proves that the man had most likely had been causing trouble and needed a change of

about the man s health, not that the man was causing trouble. ... Show more content on

Becoming An Integral Part Of The Medical Technician
Ne razumijem! the first words I heard a 62 year old male patient shout in agonizing pain as he lay on a
bed in the crowded and busy Emergency Room of St. Francis Hospital in Chicago. Recognizing it to
be of my native Bosnian/Serbo Croatian language meaning I do not understand, I entered the room as
an emergency medical technician (EMT) on my first shift to translate. Becoming an integral part of
the medical team with this responsibility, I introduced myself and began talking with the Croatian
patient. Noticing tears in his eyes, I learned they were in part due to the pain, but also from fear that he
was going to die alone without anyone understanding his last words. Holding his hand in emotional
and physical support, I felt myself becoming a part of his life as he expressed his gratitude for being
with him since he had lost his immediate family during the war in Bosnia and Croatia. With a sense of
understanding, comfort, and trust developing, I continued to hold his hand and progressed through the
medical assessment.
Communicating his multiple symptoms to the physician, one specific description stood out to me: a
painful, ripping sensation in his lower back and abdomen. Recalling my training and medical
literature, this unique description and his medical history seemed consistent with a life threatening
abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA). Translating and expressing my concern to the physician, I watched
as he palpated the patient s abdomen and agreed with a possible AAA.

Fitting And Installing External Bifolding Doors
Fitting and Installing External Bifolding Doors
External bifolding doors are perhaps the best and most affordable solutions when you are looking to
bring a little extra light and warmth into your home. More often than not, the space in which you ll be
installing these doors will also already be an existing aperture, so it s not like you ll need to get the
sledgehammer out and take down the kitchen or living room wall! If you re reading this then that s
something you probably already understand, as you re presumably considering installing a set of
bifolding doors yourself. These doors will most likely either be installed leading out into your garden
or patio from a kitchen, lounge or dining room area, so please take into account that, whilst you re
working, this area will be exposed to the elements. As such, this is a job you re going to want to get
done in as expeditious a manner as humanely possible, so whilst you obviously feel you have the DIY
skills to do the job, you might want to ask for some help from a friend or family member to get the job
done in a single day or, at the very least, weekend. Please note that the following guide relates
specifically to exterior bi fold doors. Whilst many of the steps involved with installing interior bi fold
doors will be similar, or even identical in some cases, there are also some serious differences, some of
which will be less obvious than others.

In The Late 1890S They Would Begin To Experiment With Gliders
In the late 1890s they would begin to experiment with gliders of their own. They knew they had to
master the art of controlling flight before they could invent this mechanical flyer. Much of their early
ideas with gliders would be derived from bicycles as they felt bicycles and flyers were not as different
as they seemed. The bicycle required stability and they compared it to the need for lateral balance in a
flyer. Orville thought this problem could be solved with the wings. He figured if they pilot could
control parts of the wing tips it could create force to give balance to the machine. He would create an
early sketch of it and basically is was a lever the would cause one wing to go up and the other to go
down in the opposite direction ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They would need a place with suitable high wind speeds to keep their experimentation going. In their
hometown of southern Ohio consistent high wind speeds were uncommon to say the least. Wilbur
figured finding such a place on their own could be problematic. Wilbur would end up writing to an
expert on aviation at the time, Octave Chanute. Octave provided possible places to conduct his
experiment and other questions Wilbur had regarding their experiment. In 1900 Wilbur had decided
Kitty Hawk, North Carolina would be a perfect location with its constant high wind speeds. When
they arrived at their new testing sight they began assembling their glider from back home. Initially
they tested their glider without a pilot to make sure it was working correctly and was safe for use.
Eventually they would fly the glider as the pilot and it could sustain flight for as long as two minutes.
This seemed like a major accomplishment but was just the start of their goal. They were far from the
first to achieve flight, but their wing and elevation ideas were proved successful. Also, this gave them
much needed practice in piloting a flying machine most importantly. They would again take a break
with their experiments after this attempt and return a year later. This time they had built a second
glider but it was much larger than its predecessor. Though the size was impressive it turned out to be a
failure. They did succeed in getting it

Nicaraguan Freedom Fighter Essay
The United States government has been caught doing nefarious acts against other countries for years,
from selling WMDs to Saddam Hussein or nuking Japan with the atom bomb. One of these acts was
the support of the Nicaraguan Freedom Fighters . The Freedom Fighters or the Contras, were a group
who rebelled against the Nicaraguan government, which was lead by a Communist named Daniel

Freedom Fighters , the United States government lost credibility with other nations of the world.
The United States government was caught lying to the public. According to Doyle McManus, a Los

Fredrick s Use Of Falconers In Medieval Times
In Europe, the ancient art of falconry is patently linked to Emperor Frederick II of Hohenstaufen. The

Oscar Wilde Satire In The Importance Of Being Earnest
Sofi Sosa
Professor Klein
British Literature
11 December 2017
Oscar Wilde s The Importance of Being Earnest presents a satirical play that is used to emphasize the
insignificance and absurdity of certain rules within Victorian society. The main characters in the play
characterize Victorian high society; therefore, the criticism that arises from Wilde s exaggeration
extends further than the play itself. More specifically, Wilde exaggerates the consumption of food,
something that seems to be routine in everyday life. Wilde plays on this theme of presenting such an
ordinary event as an emotionally moving experience. He does this by making a connection between
the presentation of food and a characters feeling of emotion that is unusual during the Victorian
society.
During the Victorian society, it was considered disrespectful for members of the upper classes of
society to show conflicting and personal feelings. In public, any kind of overbearing emotions needed
to be prevented in order to maintain proper appropriateness. In response to these societal rules, Oscar
Wilde uses the characters exaggeration of their food intake to represent the emotions that they are
unable to show. By using food to mask and restrain unpleasant feelings like lust, aggression, and
stress, Wilde conveys the Victorian Era s dislike towards public displays of such emotions.
Through discussing one s feelings of sexual desires, rules of the political system regarding polite
conversation were

of the internet and phone world has also led to a rise of settings where people can be adulterous
without any judgment. (191). One of the main examples used in the book is the website Ashley
Madison; a dating website specifically designed for people looking to have an affair, their slogan
being Life is short. Have an affair (Ashley Madison).

  • 2. Analysis Of Claude Levi Strauss s Black As Slacker... Claude Lévi Strauss was a French anthropologist who believed that the myths created and told by a society could be a window into the beliefs and conflicts of that society. As a Structuralist, Lévi Strauss saw stories as language and sought to understand their underlying grammar. This he believed centered on pairs of opposite ideas, held by the culture, but creating tension within it the raw and the cooked, the sacred and the profane, and so on. School of Rock, a 2003 film starring Jack Black as slacker Dewey Finn, shows the tension between a truly American pair of opposites: laziness vs. hard work. While in other mythologies it is a trickster character who mediates between these opposites, the nature of this American pair, and the surrounding culture, make it necessary that the trickster not remain so; he has to join one side or the other. Claude Lévi Strauss sought a scientific approach to the interpretation of the meaning of myths. To perform an analysis, he would first collect every version and variant of a myth possible. Each version would be broken down into its individual plot elements, and these elements were then plotted on a chart to show how they fit together. The charts would be compared across variants, and eventually the true meaning of the myth would emerge. Any scientist knows that a large data pool is indispensable for getting good results. Unfortunately, there is only one School of Rock. Though I cannot be so thorough as he would have liked, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. American Superheroes Influence On Society During The 1940s The 1940s were known as the golden age of comics. Many superheroes recognizable in mainstream popular culture today originated during this time, becoming favorites of the young and old alike. Unsurprisingly, superheroes usually experience their greatest success during times of transition and uncertainty, such as America moving from economic crisis into armed conflict (Bainbridge 746). While this essay will be focusing on the overall influence of all American Superheroes on society during the 1940s, a specific focus will be placed on two of the most well known created heroes: Superman and Captain America. Both Superman and Captain America first emerged as the nation was coming out of the Great Depression and headed into World War II (Bainbridge 746). Therefore, protagonists like these two as well as comic books in general were crucial during the 1940s because they acted as lighthearted distractions from real world issues, devices of cultural influence as well as a big source of earning for publishers. Comic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Over the last several decades many comic book movies have been released to box office success. The industry is one that has continued to flourish because of evolving technology to make exciting and creative displays for entertainment. Comics as a source of entertainment wasn t always the case. Between the Great Depression and the War, living the American Dream had become a far fetched idea. Comic books and the introduction of superheroes provided society to escape into a fantasy world where everything wrong in the world was nonexistent thanks to these heroes. Additionally, the continued development of superheroes became proved to be positive role models for kids. The expansion of superhero popularity in the media showed that superheroes thinking about law and justice spread beyond comics, reaching a large audience (Bainbridge ... • 4. Interplanetary Dust and Orbital Debris INTERPLANETARY DUST AND ORIBITAL DEBRIS Introduction The interplanetary dust particles are sized in between few cm to molecules. The dust particles are charged with +ve charge due to solar wind. The positive charge helps in reacting to the Lorentz force. The interplanetary dust grain population mainly originates in the main asteroid belt that is located between 2 to 4 astronomical units (AU) from the Sun. Dust forms in collisions between bodies of different sizes and energies or may be carried in by comets. 10 % of the dust formed by collisions in this area is transported towards the Sun via the Poynting Robertson drag. The remaining 90 % leave the solar system hyperbolic orbits as newly formed interstellar dust. Dust grain orbits are mainly influenced by gravity. Their orbital motion is Keplerian. Most of the dust grains stemming from the asteroid belt orbit the Sun with low eccentricities and, thus, near circular orbits. Material properties of IDP The Most of the dust in the inner solar system is assumed to originate from parent bodies orbiting in the Main Asteroid belt .the materials are divided into 3 main Chrondrites 60%,Achrondrites 10% and Irons 30%. Chrondrites contains Mg, Al, Si, S, Ca, Cr, Mn, Fe and Ni. IDP motion dynamics The dynamics of interplanetary dust particles are determined by a variety of forces that Can change the parameters of a dust grain s orbital motion. Very small IDP has perturbation by other forces. The P R effect (pointing Robertson effect) ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Edgar Allen Poe s The Pit And The Pendulum The unit question asks whether or not the hero of Edgar Allen Poe s The Pit and the Pendulum would realistically be able to escape the descending blade swinging on a pendulum. The question is a matter of time, is it feasible for the protagonist to escape the pendulum with the allotted amount of time. Based on standard deviation and testing a pendulum of the same scale as the one mentioned in the story, the answer is no. The protagonist mentions that he believed 10 12 periods of the pendulum would result in the blade coming in contact with his torso. Using the formula developed in class for the period of a pendulum, it would take the 30 foot pendulum described in the story about 72 seconds to complete 12 periods. Testing the actual 30 foot yielded similar results within 1 2 seconds of 72 seconds. Therefore, it is fair to say that the hero is working with 72 seconds to free himself. This does not seem like enough time to develop an escape strategy, act on the strategy, and leave without getting hit bit the pendulum. The method the hero describes involves thinking about the situation and then employing the help of nearby rats. He also mentions, Yet one minute, and I felt that the struggle would be over, as if to imply he had 1 minute to spare. Since he was reflecting and then enticing the rats to gnaw through the rope it is not likely that it took only 12 seconds to escape. 72 seconds does not seem like enough time for the hero to complete his escape. However, the thickness of the rope and speed of the rats are factors that could affect the outcome. Standard deviation is a way of visualizing how spread out points of data are in a set. Using standard deviation helps to determine how rare or common an occurrence is. For example, data points falling within the boundaries of one standard deviation typically account for about 68% of data and those between (+/ )1 standard deviation and (+/ )2 standard deviations make about 27% combined. This can be better visualized by using a bell graph. Using the mean and standard deviation, the points where standard deviations occur can be drawn on the graph to better understand which data is rare and which is common. Standard deviation was used to help solve the unit ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Flame And Its Beauty An immensely dense, dark fog covered the sky for many hours, intensifying in color with each long, drawn out minute that passed. The only visibility of my surroundings that I had was from the tiny spark of light created by my lantern. The delicate flame was keeping me company while offering me a source of comfort in the back of the shaky, jolting buggy. The flicker of the flame entranced me, the slight warmth produced by it drawing me in. I sat there, studying the flame and its beauty. I had never been one to fear the dark; the still of night was a beautiful contrast to the vibrant daytime. Nightmares were things created and fabricated within the mind. The idea of fear was simply a product of an overactive imagination, and I had been told to suppress the idea of any impossible creatures lurking in the darkness of my room. My childhood years seemed to be a distant memory, despite the reality only being a few years prior. A lot had changed since then; I had grown up too fast, and tragedy had fallen upon me that had aged me beyond my years. I had been anxiously awaiting the arrival at my mistress s house since embarking upon the long journey at the first gleam of morning sun. I had never had experience as a maid, nevertheless I was forced into this job as most of my money was gone. I needed to find a way to take care of myself now that I had no family to support me. • 7. The Knowledge Of The Natural Sciences And History Based On... When the quote states, attempt to know the world , it is regarding the gain of knowledge. This is because knowledge is the understanding of the physical world surrounding us and beyond. Plato defined knowledge as justified, true belief, meaning that for knowledge to be legitimate, it must be justified by sources such as reason, empirical evidence or memory. Secondly, the term assumptions in the quote should also be explored. According to the oxford dictionary, assumptions can be defined as something that is accepted as true without proof . Therefore the quote is stating that our knowledge of the world is based on a set of assumptions. The second part of the assertion produces the knowledge issues of the inability of testing the knowledge. The oxford dictionary defines tested as taking measurements to check the reliability of the something. Therefore, a key question that comes from this quote is: To what extent are all knowledge in the natural sciences and history based on assumptions and is it possible to test it s reliability? The first knowledge issue from this quote is that the knowledge gained from the physical world is based on things that without proof. This knowledge issue can be interlinked with the area of knowledge of natural sciences. The natural sciences study the rules that govern the natural world by applying an empirical and scientific method to study of the universe. Life has ups and downs and adversities are inevitable. Things can beyond our control, it is impossible for us to prevent unpleasant circumstances from happening. Chronic stress can lead to mental collapse if we still cannot manage them well, which is definitely undesirable for a leader because it can affect the cooperation with others as well as the team morale. First of all, I would like to define what resilience is. Major scholars believe it is the process to recover from trauma, or the ability to respond to adversity. • 28. Are Ads Harming Our Children Are Ads Harming Our Children? To ban or not to ban, that is the question in this case. I was acually watching this television show the other day and on it, there was a little boy watching T.V. when a commercial for a stuffed animal came on. Instead of hearing what the commercial was actually saying, all it showed was the stuffed animal trying to convince the little boy to get his parents to buy it. The little boy then, would not stop asking his parents until they finally got it for him. So maybe, it s not just the ads fault, it could be also the way most parents comply when their child begs for something. In this essay, I m going to show alternative methods to keeping kids healthy and creating a better place for them to grow up in, rather than just blaming and/or banning the advertisements. ... Blackie, the narrator/main character, is a dog that misinterprets anything and unexpectedly saves his new family from the robber. As a result of Blackie s distinct character traits, he doesn t understand certain events which makes him a unreliable narrator. However, these same traits make him a believable dog. Blackie has a very oblivious personality. For example, on page 77 of the book is says I looked at the man with a great deal of respect. He was evidently someone important, if they worried so much about his health. However, when you look at the sentence before that, the policeman says to the man, They told me to tell you you needed a change of air. See? This proves that the man had most likely had been causing trouble and needed a change of air or in other words, moving out of their town. This means Blackie thought the policeman worried about the man s health, not that the man was causing trouble. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Becoming An Integral Part Of The Medical Technician Ne razumijem! the first words I heard a 62 year old male patient shout in agonizing pain as he lay on a bed in the crowded and busy Emergency Room of St. Francis Hospital in Chicago. Recognizing it to be of my native Bosnian/Serbo Croatian language meaning I do not understand, I entered the room as an emergency medical technician (EMT) on my first shift to translate. Becoming an integral part of the medical team with this responsibility, I introduced myself and began talking with the Croatian patient. Noticing tears in his eyes, I learned they were in part due to the pain, but also from fear that he was going to die alone without anyone understanding his last words. Holding his hand in emotional and physical support, I felt myself becoming a part of his life as he expressed his gratitude for being with him since he had lost his immediate family during the war in Bosnia and Croatia. With a sense of understanding, comfort, and trust developing, I continued to hold his hand and progressed through the medical assessment. Communicating his multiple symptoms to the physician, one specific description stood out to me: a painful, ripping sensation in his lower back and abdomen. Recalling my training and medical literature, this unique description and his medical history seemed consistent with a life threatening abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA). Translating and expressing my concern to the physician, I watched as he palpated the patient s abdomen and agreed with a possible AAA. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Fitting And Installing External Bifolding Doors Fitting and Installing External Bifolding Doors External bifolding doors are perhaps the best and most affordable solutions when you are looking to bring a little extra light and warmth into your home. More often than not, the space in which you ll be installing these doors will also already be an existing aperture, so it s not like you ll need to get the sledgehammer out and take down the kitchen or living room wall! If you re reading this then that s something you probably already understand, as you re presumably considering installing a set of bifolding doors yourself. These doors will most likely either be installed leading out into your garden or patio from a kitchen, lounge or dining room area, so please take into account that, whilst you re working, this area will be exposed to the elements. As such, this is a job you re going to want to get done in as expeditious a manner as humanely possible, so whilst you obviously feel you have the DIY skills to do the job, you might want to ask for some help from a friend or family member to get the job done in a single day or, at the very least, weekend. Please note that the following guide relates specifically to exterior bi fold doors. Whilst many of the steps involved with installing interior bi fold doors will be similar, or even identical in some cases, there are also some serious differences, some of which will be less obvious than others. • 34. In The Late 1890S They Would Begin To Experiment With Gliders In the late 1890s they would begin to experiment with gliders of their own. They knew they had to master the art of controlling flight before they could invent this mechanical flyer. Much of their early ideas with gliders would be derived from bicycles as they felt bicycles and flyers were not as different as they seemed. The bicycle required stability and they compared it to the need for lateral balance in a flyer. Orville thought this problem could be solved with the wings. He figured if they pilot could control parts of the wing tips it could create force to give balance to the machine. He would create an early sketch of it and basically is was a lever the would cause one wing to go up and the other to go down in the opposite direction ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They would need a place with suitable high wind speeds to keep their experimentation going. In their hometown of southern Ohio consistent high wind speeds were uncommon to say the least. Wilbur figured finding such a place on their own could be problematic. Wilbur would end up writing to an expert on aviation at the time, Octave Chanute. Octave provided possible places to conduct his experiment and other questions Wilbur had regarding their experiment. In 1900 Wilbur had decided Kitty Hawk, North Carolina would be a perfect location with its constant high wind speeds. When they arrived at their new testing sight they began assembling their glider from back home. Initially they tested their glider without a pilot to make sure it was working correctly and was safe for use. Eventually they would fly the glider as the pilot and it could sustain flight for as long as two minutes. This seemed like a major accomplishment but was just the start of their goal. They were far from the first to achieve flight, but their wing and elevation ideas were proved successful. Also, this gave them much needed practice in piloting a flying machine most importantly. They would again take a break with their experiments after this attempt and return a year later. This time they had built a second glider but it was much larger than its predecessor. Though the size was impressive it turned out to be a failure. They did succeed in getting it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Because of the debacle with the Nicaraguan Freedom Fighters , the United States government lost credibility with other nations of the world. • 40. Oscar Wilde Satire In The Importance Of Being Earnest Sofi Sosa Professor Klein British Literature 11 December 2017 Oscar Wilde s The Importance of Being Earnest presents a satirical play that is used to emphasize the insignificance and absurdity of certain rules within Victorian society. The main characters in the play characterize Victorian high society; therefore, the criticism that arises from Wilde s exaggeration extends further than the play itself. More specifically, Wilde exaggerates the consumption of food, something that seems to be routine in everyday life. Wilde plays on this theme of presenting such an ordinary event as an emotionally moving experience. He does this by making a connection between the presentation of food and a characters feeling of emotion that is unusual during the Victorian society. During the Victorian society, it was considered disrespectful for members of the upper classes of society to show conflicting and personal feelings. In public, any kind of overbearing emotions needed to be prevented in order to maintain proper appropriateness. In response to these societal rules, Oscar Wilde uses the characters exaggeration of their food intake to represent the emotions that they are unable to show. By using food to mask and restrain unpleasant feelings like lust, aggression, and stress, Wilde conveys the Victorian Era s dislike towards public displays of such emotions. Through discussing one s feelings of sexual desires, rules of the political system regarding polite conversation were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
