Social, Sociology, And Sociology
Social work is centred on people, of all ages, races and class backgrounds to try to make their lives
better. Social workers collaborate with individuals and families to improve outcomes and quality
of life. It is an intense and responsible job and an employee s actions will have consequences,
whether they are good or bad.
Social workers ensure the welfare of vulnerable groups or individuals who need that extra support.
Social work as a subject area includes elements of psychology, law and sociology.
Social policy is the study of various areas of policy, within political or governmental setting, and is
concerned with everything from the welfare state, to social services. Social policy is an academic
study of theory, rather than current policies and draws from psychology, sociology, philosophy, and
economics.
What A Levels do I need?
Each university will ask for varying grades and tariff points from their prospective candidates,
therefore students are advised to check with their chosen institutions and degree programmes to
ensure they understand what they need to obtain to gain admission.
What are my study options?
Social work degree programmes mix vocational training with academic learning, and the majority
of courses will be three years in length. Some universities ask students to complete placement days,
where they have to complete a certain number as part as their assessment. Most individuals will be
taught in a classroom environment, which can then be applied to

Loudspeaker Bedroom Analysis
The loudspeaker crackles to life, indicating a message, and distracting you from the arithmetic
on the gray slab of table that you share with 15 other students. The instructor springs across the
room to receive the message. Lifeless eyes read the message, then search the room, looking for
their next victim. They slither to your face, and you recoil. Again, the instructor springs across
the gray room, a room with no windows and no decor, this time landing in front of your space.
Her shadow dances along the walls behind her that are only lit by fluorescents. The well pressed
fabric of your shirt is wrinkled as it is pinched, and you are led out of the gray classroom. With one

In this room there are students lined up in neat rows. They are sat at gray slab tables, 16 to a
row. All heads are down, buried in work. The instructor sits at the front of the bare room.
Scanning up and down the rows of desks, you search for differences. Finding none you move on.
Purpose has been injected into your journey. The light continues to drag you down the hallway.
At each epicenter of luminescence returns the same dark truth. Bile floods your mouth. The
toilets are close, and offer sweet release. Your stomach rejects what your eyes saw, and attempts
to purge the memory through your mouth. Bloodshot eyes stare back at you. Here, on the floor
of the bathroom, hovering over a toilet filled with bile, crisis sets. Everything makes sense, yet
nothing does. Why were you called down to the headmaster s office? Do they know what you re
thinking right now? Have they been monitoring you? If they have, how did they know you would

journey. The lights become streams of fire in your vision, and your arms pump with increasing
ferocity. Finally reaching your destination, you stand in front of a tall black door. It opens into the
abyss. Come in; we have much to discuss, oozed the headmaster, with an open hand and an

An Evaluation Of A Laparoscopic Hysterectomy Essay
During my rotation in the operating room at Community medical center, I observed the
preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care for a patient who underwent a laparoscopic
hysterectomy. I believe that an appropriate preoperative plan of care for this patient would have
included a full physical exam and an interview for patient history, a pelvic exam to look over and
understand the nature of the patient s complications, bloodtesting including a CBC and WBC to
note any signs of infection or contraindications for the procedure, and a urine test to rule out any
urinary tract infections or pregnancy. It would be important to interview the patient and ask
questions to determine how the patient is feeling about their procedure and to better assist with
any anxiety or pain they may be dealing with preoperatively. It is important to consult with the
patient well before the procedure to ensure that she knows to refrain from smoking for at least 8
weeks before the procedure because this reduces the risks of complications such as infections,
issues with blood pressure, heart rate, blood flow, and respirations when under anesthesia, and
promoting overall health and risks associated with smoking after the procedure. (ASAHQ) It is also
important to educate the patient to consume no food or drinks after midnight the night before the
scheduled procedure. (Health Communities) During my rotation I observed that the patient did
indeed have labs drawn and a urine test run. Her lab

High Five Book Analysis Blanchard and Bowles
High Five! The Magic of Working Together Ken Blanchard and Sheldon Bowles High Five! The
Magic of Working Together by Ken Blanchard and Sheldon Bowles offers four keys to developing
a highly effective team. The authors use a parable story telling technique about a youth recreation
hockey league, the Warriors, to demonstrate how implementing the four concepts can turn around a
team to success. They parallel the process to show how the same techniques can be used in the
business world. The title High Five is used to express the practice of high fiving , the slapping of
hands in the air by teammates, to demonstrate the togetherness of a group of people coming
together with passion and excitement. The high... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The four members of my group are all intelligent but every week, as a group, we produce better
work than if I had done it on my own. We laughingly say we have flow and have even written
flow on the wipe board as we begin tough assignments. We have each learned each other s skill set
and we depend on each other to contribute and make the end product better. There is no individual
star in our Medaille study group. Instead we shine brightly as a single, better entity. We choose our
name based on the definition of gestalt. According to the Webster s dictionary online, gestalt is
defined as: a structure, arrangement, or pattern of physical, biological, or psychological phenomena
so integrated as to constitute a functional unit with properties not derivable by summation of its
parts (www.merriam webster.com). I think what the authors are saying has been proven in how we
developed our learning team. We learned that we were better together than we were individually.
Our commitment to the team grew stronger because we recognized our output was better if done
collectively. 4. Keeping the accent on the positive by repeated reward and recognition. The last part
of the team performance equation is that individuals and teams need positive recognition.
Concentrating on the positives, rather then the negatives, allows employees to focus on doing
better because they want to hear positive recognition. The focus should be on how to perform more

Law and Corporate Managers Prof. Larry Franklin
Question Two A. (i) For refusal
In order to honor the LC, the Seller has to comply exactly with the terms of the letter of credit.
There are numerous typo errors in the LC and misspellings of the destination port and the Seller
name, hence only a waiver of the discrepancies from JFTC will enable Bank of China to pay the
Seller. As long as the waiver is not received, the BOC cannot make any payments. BOC has to
state why it is not going to pay. The seller reviewed the LC before the shipment of goods, so it is
his mistake that he didn t point out the discrepancies.

(ii) The five subsequent investors
IF the venture will be established as a LP, then the investors could limit their liability up to the
amount of their investment, therefore they will have one level of tax (they will not pay corporate
tax). However, the return on their investment is subject to the performance of the LP and the profits
that derive from it.
In case of corporation, the investors could invest their investment as shareholders with limited
liability. But they will have to pay two levels of taxes. In re the fixed return on the investment, they
could provide a loan to the corporation with a fixed rate of interest that will be guaranteed by the
company. (iii) The CEO manager
Bernie will prefer to act as a CEO in a Corporation with a board of directors that will direct him
and will borne the direct responsibility for the acts of the corporation. He will also have the
responsibility for the acts of the corporation. In order to attract Bernie to join the business, it is
likely to offer him shares or options to purchase the shares of the corporation. This is not possible
under a LP.
B.I will recommend Jameson to choose Corporation for the following reasons: 1. He is not
investing money and he wants to be owner and involved in the business. The best for him is to be
a shareholder of the company and a director. His tax considerations in this case are not relevant. So
there is no advantage in LP.

The Environmental Disaster Of The United States Essay
Introduction
Mining affects the lives of millions of Americans every day. Although the United
States has a large amount of coal remaining to be mined and burned, almost three fourths of the
public land in America has been declared off limits for mining. Mountaintop mining is a relatively
new form of surface mining that has steadily gained popularity. The debate as to whether or not this
process is an economic necessity or environmental disaster for Kentuckians is the question.
Undoubtedly, it is an environmental disaster and it should be removed in every state that they are
using it not to mention the health hazards. One report found states, Although dozens of new coal
burning power plants are planned or under construction, the latest coal boom is meeting resistance
from critics who want to shift the U.S. economy toward cleaner fuels. Even if electricity from coal
is cheaper than other sources, they argue, the savings are far outweighed by its environmental and
health impacts (Isabella, 2013).
Personal Impact As a child, during many of my families travels, we went through the Appalachian
Mountains through West Virginia, Kentucky, and Tennessee. These places were breathtaking. The

for being able to have the opportunity to write this proposal. For our soup kitchen we have
decided to choose movies and food, because from the survey that we gave out to the class the
main interest was movies and food. Being able to relax while watching a good movie and eating
delicious food would certainly make a lot of people happy, after all who doesn t enjoy movies
and food? Our soup kitchen will run throughout the entire day. To run our soup kitchen it will cost

Physical Storage Media Such As Usb Drives And External Hdds
physical storage media such as USB drives and external HDDs. If students backup work to
personal backup systems regularly their should be no issues with consistency but if students
neglect to backup work every time it is changed then them being in charge of their own backup
would ne unpractical because in the event of data loss they could not backupto the most recent
version of the file.
There also arises an issue of students bringing their own storage media which as well as external
storage devices includes the student s device itself. It is possible that the student s devices have
become corrupted with various issues such as, worms, virus, adware and spyware. Depending on
the conditions, the network connection may create an environment for the malware to spread to
other devices and cause multiple infections. However an advantage of this would be the school
would not need to spend money on backup hardware.
File types would become an issue when students are using a range of freeware on their devices.
Rather than pay $1000 dollars for Adobe Photoshop as explained earlier freeware is available
that can perform the same tasks to the same or a less technical level. These often have their own
file types to save in but many of them for example Kingston office allows users to save in the
same file type or a compatible file type for its paid counterpart, however some freeware may not
offer this feature which means all work will need to be completed on the students device in

India s An Environmental Hazard Essay
In early November 2016, Delhi, India faced an environmental hazard that put citizens in a
dangerous position. The air was filled with toxins that made it almost impossible for people within
the city to go about their daily lives. Everywhere, people asked who was responsible for the
problem and whose job it was to implement protections in order to avoid future difficulties. For one
to fully understand this issue, they must analyze the monumental growth of cities in the 20th
century, previous environmental issues, and Indias complex political past. These contexts can be
used to develop a greater perspective on the impact of humans on the world and what actions might
be taken to prevent further damage.
The New York Times posted an article on November 7th titled, SmogChokes Delhi, Leaving
Residents Cowering by Our Air Purifiers that detailed the urgency of the issue. Deadly coarse
and fine air particles reached concentrations that have been unheard of before, sixteen times the
limit that India s government considers safe. The personal damage sustained physically from
daily exposure to these toxins is equivalent to smoking two packs of cigarettes a day, experts say. In
an urban area as densely populated as Delhi, concern for the health of citizens is a top priority.
Schools in Delhi cancelled classes for a period of three days to keep children, who are more
vulnerable to long term medical issues, inside. Citizens were worried, upset, and looking for a
cause behind early

Style Analysis of Amy Tan in The Joy Luck Club
Raymond Chandler, a fiction writer, once said, The most durable thing in writing is style. True, the
style is often defined as one of the most important elements in writing. In Amy Tan s novel, The Joy
Luck Club , the style significantly contributes to the development of both the tone and the theme of
the influences that a mother can have on her daughter. The author effectively portrays the somber
tone and the theme by using a concise style of diction, images, details, language, sentence structure,
point of view, and organization. The author emphasizes the tone and the theme of the novel by
using a variety of diction words that include repetition of words, archaic words, connotation, and
abstract diction. Primarily, the usage of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the night, Lena hears shouts across the wall and also whack! whack! whack! , the
sounds of killing (Tan 114). The sight and sound imageries seem to indicate a lachrymose tone
in Lena s house. In general, these imageries provide a picture of melancholy, which achieves a
somber tone of the novel. Furthermore, the author explores the tone of the novel by providing
specific details. In An mei s childhood story, the author chooses to describe the pain An mei
feels as the soup pours over her by providing details of the twinge. She describes it as the kind of
pain [specially] terrible that a little child should never remember it and how it still remains in
[An mei s] skin s memory (Tan 39). By depicting these details of the pain, Tan expresses the
feeling of misery An mei feels, which appends to the melancholy tone. Additionally, in the story of
Ying ying s first marriage, the author presents explicit details of the emptiness Ying ying feels by
portraying details of her as a tiger that neither pounce[s] nor lay[s] waiting between the trees and an
unseen spirit (Tan 285). This emptiness Ying ying feels seems to indicate the melancholy tone that
appears noticeable in the novel. Clearly, the details Amy Tan chooses to describe in the novel seem
to specify the somber tone. Likewise, the language the author uses also clarifies the tone and the
theme of the novel. In many positions in the novel, languages such as grief, despair, hate, and
revenge

California s Court Of Appeal
California s Court of Appeal Clarifies Application of anti SLAPP Statutes to Attorney
Malpractice Actions California s anti SLAPP statute (codified in Code of Civil Procedure section
425.16) protects the Constitutional rights to freedom of speech and right of petition by subjecting
any cause of action that chills these rights to be subject to a special motion to strike. In the
context of a complaint against an attorney for malpractice, the California Court of Appeal recently
clarified its application under existing precedent and held the anti SLAPP statute did not apply to
claims against attorneys by former clients. In Loanvest I, LLC v. Utrecht et al (2015) 235
Cal.App.4th 496, the plaintiff brought an action against its attorneys for malpractice for failing to
put its interests before a former client, resulting in damage. At the trial level, the court granted the
defendant law firm s special motion to strike under the anti SLAPP statute, finding that the
malpractice claim was based upon an act in furtherance of the protected right of petition. The
plaintiff thereafter appealed. In making its decision, the trial court relied heavily upon Peregrine
Funding, Inc. v. Sheppard Muillin Richter Hampton (2005) 133 Cal.App.4th 658 where the Court
of Appeal previously held that claims based upon allegations made by attorneys in judicial filings
were within the scope of the anti SLAPP statute and protected. For a claim to fall within the anti
SLAPP statute and result in

Gender Stereotypes In Rod Serling s The Twilight Zone
Most qualities revered in people are subjective, and leadership is one of these traits. However,
does not have to be a symptom of anything negative and in fact, allows for an every human being
to revere a unique person if they so wanted. A few specific people have garnered much attention in
the recent centuries for their works and endeavor, among them a man who is commonly said to be
one of the forefathers of science fiction television. Rod Serling, the creator of the Twilight Zone,
was a visionary man who turned hardships into stories that would influence those before and after

His liberal viewpoints were forged from hardships of the second World War, which would cause
him to suffer great mental distress for the rest of his life, but yet found an outlet through writing to

he turned to the commonly overlooked genre of science fiction. Censorship continued to haunt him
though, with many works were turned into a feather duster of what they should have been
originally, much too his own dismay. Nevertheless, Serling stood by his works, having used them
to inspire others during his time to hopefully spread more broadminded beliefs. Far outshooting his
original hopes, Rod Serling has become a visionary cultural icon of the 20th century whose well

Surviving Female Gender Roles
Surviving Female Gender Roles What defines being feminine will vary with each culture, but two
archetypes: passive homemaker and liberal feminist have existed for centuries as one will see in
two Japanese stories written in the 17th century. In The Love Suicides at Amijima, readers see the
social chains that bind a submissive womanto her societal duties. On the other hand, in Tales of
Sensuous Women, readers are shown a complete opposite archetype where women find ways to
circumvent the social expectations that have been imposed upon them. Although four hundred or
so years have passed since these stories were written, modern women these days still have a number
of societal restrictions that make them less liberated than their male... Show more content on

Readers of The Love Suicides at Amijima would not be able to see multi faceted female characters
as these in Life of a Sensuous Woman. Readers would only see female characters who blindly
support the endeavors of the men in their lives. The women in Tales of Sensuous Women are less
confined by circumstance but 17th century Japanese people would have preferred the obedient and
submissive female as opposed to one who had a mind of her own. The feminist movement that
guaranteed a female s civil rights through law has increased the number of rights given to them. In
the 21st century, society believes that a female who fits the homemaker archetype should be more
adventurous while a female who fits the liberated, free loving archetype should be more restrained.
Society accepts from women, a balance between the two archetypes which brings up the question of
how social norms or gender roles are created and who enforces these roles. Does Koharu and
Osan s passiveness stem from physical weakness or were they brought up in a way that made them
act this way? They re behavior as supporter is restrictive and shameful in the sense that they are
second class citizens. For the liberated women, is life for them simply seducing men and robbing
them of virility? Almost each protagonist at the end feels emotionally empty when she reminisces

As stated in the Morning Call on January 11, 2013, Uniforms will reduce bullying, teasing and
disruption while also being a cheaper alternative for poor parents who struggle every year to afford
new school clothes for their children (Esack). Much like the Allentown Area School District,
incorporating uniforms needs to be a priority for Pen Argyl High School. Not only will students
have better attendance once uniforms are required, but one can also expect school achievement to
increase. The enacting of a uniform rule by the Pen Argyl School District geared towards the high

Overall, if uniform wearing was an required component of Pen Argyl High School, student priorities
would be focused on the more appropriate topic of academics rather than the fad of fashion trends;
leading to more student awareness and less bullying, or attention to student clothing, throughout the
school day. In addition to the apparent bullying over style trends and choices, another issue that
could be eliminated through the incorporation of uniforms is the lessening of disciplinary action
directed towards students for dress code violations. Almost daily, students are sent to the office for
dress code checks which are most often handled by the Vice Principal. Students are commonly
sent for checks based on the following items that are considered questionable: midriff revealing
tops, ripped and low rise jeans, short skirts and shorts, exposed shoulders and necklines and
spandex for the girls. Then there are ill fitting jeans and inappropriate slogans on t shirts and
sweatshirts for the boys. A uniform policy would eliminate the need for dress code checks, which
would enable the vice principal to concentrate on more important issues within the high school. Not
only would uniforms eliminate this disciplinary issue of student dress, but the incorporation of a
uniform policy would better prepare students

Mrs Bennet Analysis Essay
In Jane Austen s novel Pride and Prejudice, Mrs. Bennet is generally portrayed as a selfish
woman who cares only about herself. In Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen uses contrasts between
themes, narrative devices, as well as characters to describe how Mrs. Bennet is a selfish woman
who only cares about herself. The novel demonstrates how Mrs. Bennet is generally portrayed as
a selfish woman who cares only about herself by demonstrating her distorted view on marriage,
her selfish attitudes, as well as her inappropriate behaviours. Mrs. Bennet is generally portrayed to
be a selfish woman who cares only about herself through the contrast between the themes of
marrying for love versus marrying for money. Pride and Prejudicerepresents the distorted view on
marriage of a middle class woman in the early nineteenth century by defining exactly what
marrying well should and did mean to Mrs. Bennet at that moment in history. One of the most
important themes explored in the novel is the concept of marrying well . Mrs. Bennet is portrayed
as a selfish was due to the fact that she is an anxious woman with limited knowledge, and her

Pros And Cons Of The Turing Test
The Turing Test determines if an AI system is intelligent. The test requires the computer to have a
normal conversation with a human. However, there are limitations to this test. A better alternative
is to have computers do an 8th grade science exam. Answering exam questions requires scientific
reasoning, language processing, and knowledge of the world. The Turing Test has problems.
First, the conditions of the Turing Test are not well defined. For example, it doesn t say what type
of questions are allowed during the conversation or how long the conversation needs to be.
Second, the Turing Test can be passed by a simple AI system. Today s AI systems can do more than

they are uncoordinated, have no rhythm and most of all, they assume the ability to dance is either
something you have or you don t. They see dancers as members of an unattainable and exclusive
club of good posture, hours of practice and perfect young bodies with plenty of technique.
Dancers are often called the athletes of the arts and like athletes they undergo years of hard
physical training in pursuit of excellence. It is exhilarating watching human beings perform
extraordinary and courageous physical feats. In dance, this energy is used to tell stories and
convey ideas, creating very powerful experiences that can be dramatic, moving and even funny.

Loss Of Life Exposed In Endymion By John Keats
Of all the great poets of the early nineteenth century, John Keats (1795 1821) was the last to be
born and first to die. Born in London, England, on October 31, 1795, to a poor stable keeper,
John Keats devoted his short life to the perfection of poetry marked by intense imagery, great
sensuous appeal and an attempt to express a philosophy through classical legend. Although he was
brought up amid surroundings and influences by no means calculated to awaken poetic genius.
Rendered an orphan at the tender age of eight, his father s death had a deep rooted effect on the
young boy s life. In a more metaphysical sense, it shaped his understanding of the human condition,
both its suffering and its loss. This tragedy and others helped Keats later... Show more content on

Company s Csr Sustainability Program
IV. Company s CSR Sustainability Program
A. History
The rising need for protection of intellectual property rights and improvement of public health lead
the pharmaceutical industry to establish an agreement in 2001 with the World Trade Organization.
In Sanofi s earliest archived sustainability effort, Environmental Progress Report 2001, it states that
Sanofi has taken initiatives to promote sustainable development as a reaction to the rise of wider
and on going responsibilities. They have pursued these defensive efforts through promoting safety
in the workplace, industrial hygiene, respecting the environment, training investment, and many
more. Sanofi is shelling out great investments for their sustainability programs. In 2001 alone,
Sanofi allocated 11.2 Million Euros for a program to limit its operations impact on the environment.
By 2008, Sanofi showed efforts of compliance with the United Nation s Agenda 21 Blueprint for
sustainability by establishing the four pillars (i.e. Patient, Ethics, Planet, and People) that serves as
the foundation of their sustainability efforts . In the following year, Sanofi began its transformation
to a diversified global health care company. With this, a Corporate Social ResponsibilityDirection
was created which changed their sustainability report to an encompassing Corporate Social
Responsibility (CSR) report. These efforts lead Sanofi to embed their ethical responsibilities and
discretionary responsibilities into the company s

Movie Made America Analysis
Hugo and The Artist are two films that share one pronounced quality. The ability of the two
films to be so relatable simply to attract a greater audience has proved itself to be a great way in
obtaining a greater number of interested spectators. Robert Sklar notes an enlightening topic
within his book, Movie Made America: A Cultural History of American Movies, as he states, In
motion picture comedy, a medium close to popular moods and tastes, the pendulum in the early
years of Depression and sound swung back to the rough and tumble chaos of the Keystone style,
this tie in a highly verbal form with a more pointed anti bourgeois animus (120). Note, he is

Much like today, orphaned children without any immediate relatives to turn to seem to find
themselves trouble, whether it be intentionally or unintentionally. Hugo s issues were the
unintentional ends of that spectrum, as proven through the daunting thought of being exiled to a
children s home. His responsibility prevailed as he took over his uncle s job when he went off
on a drinking binge. Hugo s real persistence was prevalent in the scene where he followed
Isabelle home in effort to get his notebook back. His unbreakable bond with his father continued
on after his death and allowed Hugo an adventure of a lifetime and the opportunity to, despite
Hugo s various internal conflicts, ultimately find a home. This sheer fact, in my opinion, inspired
the audience, giving them hope and promise for a better life. This is why I mention the excerpt
from Sklar, noting people s tastes and preferences as being essential in how they respond to a film s
message. If filmmakers do not take into account the audience they are trying to please, the film has

Participation Of South Sinai s Local Residents
Participation of South Sinai s Local Residents in Sustainable Tourism Development
Waleed Radwan Mahfouz Ibrahim Mohammed Aly Youssef
Tourism Studies Department Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management Helwan University
Abstract
Tourism development has major impacts on local residents and their participation in tourism
development plays a vital role in its success. Although, there is substantial literature related to local
residents participation in tourism development, it mainly focuses on developed countries or mature
tourism destinations in developing countries. There is lack of literature on local residents
participation in developing countries, especially where tourism development is new. Decision
makers and planners often, in the developing countries where tourism development is new, tend to
involve public and private sectors without a full consideration of local residents participation in
tourism development. This research explores local residents participation in tourism development
in South Sinai in Egypt.
Although South Sinai is endowed with all the elements of a highly competitive tourism destination
rich culture and heritage and virgin lands waiting to be explored, local residents do not benefit by
participation in tourism development. This is due to the lack of experience among key stakeholders.
Two main phases of fieldwork and data collection were conducted: The first phase: involves in
depth, one to one, semi structured interviews

change in the gang areas for that the kids of today s society do not fall into the trap of gang
violence. Gang violence in Chicago is caused by poverty in inner cities, climate change, and how
gang members do not respect authorities. This problem can be fixed by investing more money into
these urban areas, focusing in cities during warm months, and by government building positive

trafficking and gang violence. Drug trafficking leads to gang violence for a number of different
reasons. In a news article, it stated that there was a massive drug bust containing over 10,000

violence rises with drug trafficking. When cities do not invest, it will lead to a lot of gang activity.

Aristotle Virtuous
According to Aristotle virtue is achieving excellence of the soul. (1) For man to become virtuous
they must build habits that model virtuous behavior. Aristotle believed that moral virtue forms
through habit and no one is born virtuous. Under this premise virtue is both learned and practiced
through our behaviors. When one acts in a moral and virtuous way they become more virtuous, the
opposite is true also that if one acts in a non virtuous way they will learn to become less virtuous.
To be virtuous you also must maintain a balance which is called the mean. Aristotlefurther states
that you cannot merely define virtuein terms of characteristics, you must also specify the kind of
characteristic, and that this virtue renders good the thing itself of which it is the excellence, and
performs its function well at the same time.(2) To live in the mean is to be virtuous. The mean
is making choices that are the right amount of virtue, or the correct balance of choices. To act
either in excess or a lack of virtue is a vice. It is the ability of choosing to act in the mean or
middle that is considered virtuous. This can easily been in examples, if a wealthy man had the
resources to help others and give some of his money he could be a virtuous man if he did so while
acting in the mean. If the same man did not give to charities... Show more content on

When one find themselves in a situation of loss or heavy sadness it could move into despair. It
is normal to feel some despair with loss, so the mean would be so grieve then return to a more

opposite would cause it to continue as a vice. If someone fell into despair and never recovered
from it and let it consume their life this would be a vice. Another vice of despair would be if
someone had a despairing situation and did not react to it at all, or shunned the loss all together

Department Store Industry Analysis in Mexico Essay
Mexican Department Store Industry The department store industry in Mexico functions just like the
majority of department stores around the world. They target the middle to upper class people with
money to spend on popular brands, food and entertainment. While the department store chains in
many countries tend to focus on one line of products (e.g., clothing), the department stores in
Mexico have diversified products and services that helps to decrease direct competition, but it also
makes it more difficult to predict a competitor s next move. As the middle class population grows
in Mexico, the market becomes more attractive, but many possibly new entrants are kept out by the
high barriers of entry.

On the other hand, Sears Roebuck s failure in Mexico was not due a problem of scale. Sudden
high tariffs drove them to sell shares of their company to Grupo Carso. Now with the NAFTA
Agreement signed, large U.S. competitors could enter the market without as much of a threat from
high tariffs. Additionally, Philipe Calderon s effort to reduce corruption eases the barriers to entry.
Although the middle class is not extremely big, it is growing, which makes it a very desirable
target market. If a department store is to start in Mexico with scale and succeed then it is likely they
will not have too much force from competitors driving them out of the market.
Suppliers
Suppliers have a lot of power in the department store industry in Mexico. Department stores must
seek out popular brands in order to attract their target segment, which places the department stores
in a position of power. The department stores also will not order and sell in such quantities that
the designer labels and popular brands will feel compelled to submit to a department store s
demands. The big companies that department stores in Mexico are trying to attract also have to
consider the risk off their investments, whether it is from the possibility of loss in route to the
department store or diminishing profits during bad economic climates. This keeps popular brands
from selecting small, low end department stores. In Mexico these brand labels, many of which are

Dances With Wolves And Avatar
Dances with Wolves and Avatar: Similar but Different
Dances with Wolves and Avatar are thought to be very different, but they are actually more similar
than viewers may realize. First off, these are two must see films! The viewer walks away with much
more than just having seen a movie. Both of these movies encourage cultural understanding,
motivate, and teach individuality.
Dances with Wolves and Avatarare alike in plot and cultural significance. These two films are alike
in plot because in both films, two men, John Dunbar and Jake Sully, willingly put themselves into a
completely new culture and lifestyle. They learn to adapt to the differences and learn a new way
of life in order to survive. For example, in the movies Dances with Wolves and Avatar, John
Dunbar and Jake Sully had to learn each tribe s way of life, such as their language, hunting, and
self defense. Eventually, the two men are recognized as part of a tribe, for John the Sioux Indian
Tribe and for Jake the Na vi Tribe.
These two films are alike in cultural significance because they both show the viewer not to
believe all that is said about individuals, races, and cultures. In the two films, both tribes were
first looked at as evil enemies, but once the two men each took the time to get to know the
individuals and the tribes as a whole, they realized that it was all just a lie. The Sioux and Na vi
were actually nice people who just felt threatened by the outsiders. The tribes needed to look

Usability Testing on Microsoft Xbox в„ў
Product usability testing has been around for quite a while now for the sole purpose of providing
the consumers with the best product a company can. Some companies hire specific testing
consultants who specialize in product testing and other companies just release beta versions of
their product to a small market and collect feedback. Companies like Sony or Nintendo hire
companies that test their products and make sure there are no problems with the product. Software
companies, on the other hand, release test versions, also known as beta versions, of their products

After Microsoft released the Xbox, the public rushed to purchase the video game console. Almost
immediately, complaints start to appear about the console. A small percentage of Xbox units were
defective as stated in an article titled, Microsoft Addresses Report on Xbox Defects, by Shahed
Ahmed. Defects in a small percentage of any products sold happen often. However, another
complaint surfaced shortly after the Xbox was released: the controller was over sized and the
button configuration was inconvenient for certain games. Microsoft quickly addressed this
complaint by releasing a redesigned controller that was smaller and had a more convenient button
configuration. The release of the new controller Microsoft is well documented in the article written
by Giancarlo Varanini titled, Redesigned Xbox Controller in the Works.
The Microsoft Xbox is a great example of how a product is never perfect, no matter how much it
is tested prior its release. Product usability testing will never catch all the flaws, in my opinion,
because either the test groups are not diverse enough or there is not enough time to efficiently test a
given product. However, increasing the variety of test subjects along with the size of the test groups
would certainly reduce the problem,

Identification Of Unknown Organisms And Two Eukaryotes
Identification of Unknown Organisms

September 27, 2014
Introduction
The purpose of this study is to identify four unknown organisms. The unknown organisms have
been assigned randomly to six research groups by Professor Hoffman. Each research group was
provided two eukaryotes and two prokaryotes. The unknown organisms will fall into the following
classifications: bacteria, algae, fungi, or protozoans. All living organisms are organized into one of
three domains of life, Bacteria, Archaea, and Eukarya.
The Domain Bacteria
Bacteria and Archaea are prokaryotic, which are mostly single celled incomplex microorganisms.
Both Bacteria and Archaea have a variety of prokaryotes classified in multiple kingdoms (Reece, et
al., Campbell Biology, 2014). There are a number of scientists who believe that Archaea cells may
be the precursor to Eukaryotic cells and that they have more in common with Eukaryotes than
Prokaryotes (Madigan, Martinko, Dunlap, 2009).
Prokaryotes are ubiquitous, successfully adapting to diverse environments as well as developing
symbiotic relationships with host organisms (Lengeler, Drews, Schlegel, 1999). Prokaryotes may
have both autotrophic and heterotrophic characteristics. A cyanobacteria is photosynthetic,
commonly called blue green algae, and may produce toxins (Crayton, 1993). Bacteria are most
commonly associated in the general

Justice Is Not Rigid And Unchanging Like So Many People
Justice is not rigid and unchanging like so many want to believe. For the Ancient Greeks in the
8th century, blood justice is the only way to settle disputes. By the mid 400s BCE, there are
glimpses of what will later become a trial by jury in a democratic judicial system. Aeschylus
plays show a distinct shift from blood justice to a more democratic system. Even Homer, when
writing his epic works, seems to hint at a better way to resolve conflict than the eye for an eye
mentality. The Iliad acts as book ends to the transformation of blood justice to a trial by jury as
presented by The Oresteia; and that transformation positively influences how Western culture deals
with justice. Blood justice to the Ancient Greeks is their way of enacting retribution on parties that
did them wrong. The punishment required by blood justice must fit the crime committed, Act for
act, wound for wound life for a life; and that leads to many turning to their rage as a tool to help
them justify their actions (Agamemnon1555). The Iliad opens with Rage Goddess, sing the rage of
Peleus son Achilles(Iliad i.1). It is Achilles rage that is called upon and drives his actions through
the entire work. Achilles rage is to right a great wrong done to him, but it comes at a deadly cost.
Patroclus begs to be sent into battle to help the Greeks fight. He wants to bring some light of
victory to the Argives by donning Achilles armor to boost morale and drive back the Trojans (Iliad
xvi.43 49).

Marketing Strategies Of Bmw Benz
Marketing Strategies:
Whose is better, BMW or Mercedes Benz?
Introduction
In general, vehicles can represent their owner s status. Therefore many people spend their money
on buying a car which indicates their tastes and lifestyle. Car manufacturers, from the cheapest to
the most expensive, use many eye catching marketing strategies to attract customers, especially for
premium car brands. BMW and Mercedes Benz are two of the most well known brands in the world.
Coming from the same origin, Germany, they compete with each other in selling their products.
The purpose of this essay is to identify which company has the better marketing strategies when
comparing between BMW and Mercedes Benz, by analyzing four strategies: product, promotion,
SWOT analysis, and market share. The paper is organized as follows. The second section discusses
the products, and is separated into three parts: the variety of products, car prices, and after sales
service. The third section presents the promotion strategies which will show the companies budgets,
advertising on television, and other distribution channels. The fourth section reports the discussion
of the SWOT analysis for each company along with their current market share. The fifth section
provides the conclusion. The discussions of prices, advertisements on TV, and other distribution
channels refer to examples from Thailand, the United States, the United Kingdom, and China

Presidential Election Of The United States
After almost two years on the campaign trail, the United States of America has finally elected its
new president, Donald Trump. No that is not a typo, this is real life. It was a hard fought battle
between Hillary Clinton and the Donald which ultimately lead to one of the most shocking upsets
in recent American politics. Being that the odds were heavily stacked against Trump as poll after
poll predicted Clinton be the victor, it was to the astonishment of many that he reigned victorious
during this 2016 presidential electioncycle. Be it the will of the country (or in this case electoral
college ) this poisonous cheeto will now be the 45th president of the United States. So how did this
happen, what was it about Trump that pushed voter behavior in his favor in many key battleground
states? Trumps victory lies in the hands of the silent majority who at this point were dying for
change and saw it within the republican nominee. The biggest contributing factor to Trump s win
on November 8 was retrospective votingwhich a lot of voters clearly engaged in this election cycle.
When making the decision of who to vote for during an election, voters often tend to start looking
within at their own situation before throwing their support at a candidate. Questioning whether ones
is better off now than they were before the previous election is known as retrospective voting. This
concept is the idea that voters take into consideration factors such as the performance a political
party ,

Emily Dickinson and Robert Frost wrote many poems about their emotions and the darkness that
they faced or in their childhood or adult life. Dickinson writes about darkness because she always
stayed in her house; she did not leave her house and she did not see the light of the sky in her life
(Tredell). We Grow Accustomed to the Dark, by Emily Dickinson, is about the darkness and
hopelessness. This poem has a deeper meaning about people who have to face all kinds of
struggle or problems in their life. The poet writes, When light is put away As when the Neighbor
holds the Lamp (Dickinson We Grow, 2 3). This means that sometimes it s tough to solve a
problem, but there is always hope to solve any kind of problem. All kinds of struggle can help
one to learn about the struggle and also to get experiences to solve these problems or struggles
again in the future. Acquainted with the Night, by Robert Frost, is about a person who is
walking alone in the rain. He is approached by a cop (watchman) and the speaker looks down and
walks away from a cop. The author mentions, And dropped my eyes, unwilling to explain (Frost
Acquainted, 6). This quote means that speaker does not make eye contact with the cop because
he does not want to explain to the cop what he is doing outside at the night time. I have stood
still and stopped the sound of feet. When far away an interrupted cry (Frost Acquainted, 7 8) this
quote explains while the speaker is walking, he hears, someone crying in one of the houses on
the street. But not to call me back or say good bye (Frost Acquainted, 10) this explains that the
speaker does not want to see who is crying; however; he ignores that crying sound and walks away
from it. I have looked down the saddest city lane (Frost Acquainted, 4) this proves that the speaker
in the poem is very depressed. The speaker is lonely or maybe the speaker is

Examine some of the key principles of the argument for the existence of God based upon religious
experiences
Religious experiences are experiences we have of the divine or God. These experiences may be
Mystical experiences, conversion experiences or revelatory experiences. Paul Tillich states that
religious experience is a feeling of ultimate concern , a feeling that demands a decisive decision
from the one receiving it. He describes it as an encounter followed by a special understanding of its
religious significance.
The argument for religious experiences is based on 3 premises. Premise one states that the
experience of X indicates the reality of X. One problem with this premise is that the experience of
X does not always indicate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The problems with premise three can also be highlighted by looking at the religious experience of
Mosses when he saw God in the burning bush. When God came to him, Mosses had just killed a
man and run away into the desert. Therefore he could be experiencing extreme guilt which could
cause him to have an illusion. Also if he is in the desert then he was most likely dehydrated which
again could cause an illusion. Therefore other factors may be used to explain religious experiences.
Another example to support premise three, and one that addresses the problem of the subjective
nature of religious experiences, is corporate religious experiences. This is when large numbers of
people all have the same religious experience at the same time. The fact that they are experienced
by many leads to the fact that they can be objectively tested and the accounts validated adding
further support for the argument.
Those that argue that religious experiences are proof of the existence of God usually argue
inductively. This means that they look at the subjective testimonies of individuals who claim to
have had religious experiences in order to find similar characteristics and then draw the general
conclusion that the experiences can only be explained in terms of the existence of God. For
example Swinburne argued inductively supporting

The First Confiscation Act Of September 1862
With this knowledge Congress passed Major General Benjamin F. Butler quick thinking into a
policy, the First Confiscation Act, in August of 1861 which stated that the federal government
had authority to seize any property owned by the Confederates which included slaves. By March
the following year, an Article of War was produced which prohibited any military or naval
services from returning run away or fugitive slaves to their respective masters, nullifying the
Fugitive Acts all together. When the Second Confiscation Act was announced in July of 1862 it
declared forever free Confederate owned slaves who made their way to federal lines or who
resided in rebellious territory that fell to federal forces (Luke and Smith 2014, 14). Also in the
bill, was the legitimisation of the president to utilise persons of African descent in any way that
he considered necessary and proper for the suppression of the rebellion (Luke and Smith 2014,
14). Thus the Militia Act of July 1862, which gave Lincoln carte blanche (Luke and Smith 2014,
14) to make use of black resources. Although these acts were issued with the intention of blacks
serving as military labour it gave way to many possibilities. The first to act on these possibilities
was Major General Jon C. FrГ©mont, in August 1861, who emancipated the slaves of Missouri
rebels. By late August, following him, but surpassing freeing slaves, Republican U.S. senator and
brigadier general James H. Jim Lane, a Free Soiler and

  • 2. Social, Sociology, And Sociology Social work is centred on people, of all ages, races and class backgrounds to try to make their lives better. Social workers collaborate with individuals and families to improve outcomes and quality of life. It is an intense and responsible job and an employee s actions will have consequences, whether they are good or bad. Social workers ensure the welfare of vulnerable groups or individuals who need that extra support. Social work as a subject area includes elements of psychology, law and sociology. Social policy is the study of various areas of policy, within political or governmental setting, and is concerned with everything from the welfare state, to social services. Social policy is an academic study of theory, rather than current policies and draws from psychology, sociology, philosophy, and economics. What A Levels do I need? Each university will ask for varying grades and tariff points from their prospective candidates, therefore students are advised to check with their chosen institutions and degree programmes to ensure they understand what they need to obtain to gain admission. What are my study options? Social work degree programmes mix vocational training with academic learning, and the majority of courses will be three years in length. Some universities ask students to complete placement days, where they have to complete a certain number as part as their assessment. The instructor springs across the room to receive the message. Lifeless eyes read the message, then search the room, looking for their next victim. They slither to your face, and you recoil. Again, the instructor springs across the gray room, a room with no windows and no decor, this time landing in front of your space. • 4. An Evaluation Of A Laparoscopic Hysterectomy Essay During my rotation in the operating room at Community medical center, I observed the preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care for a patient who underwent a laparoscopic hysterectomy. I believe that an appropriate preoperative plan of care for this patient would have included a full physical exam and an interview for patient history, a pelvic exam to look over and understand the nature of the patient s complications, bloodtesting including a CBC and WBC to note any signs of infection or contraindications for the procedure, and a urine test to rule out any urinary tract infections or pregnancy. It would be important to interview the patient and ask questions to determine how the patient is feeling about their procedure and to better assist with any anxiety or pain they may be dealing with preoperatively. It is important to consult with the patient well before the procedure to ensure that she knows to refrain from smoking for at least 8 weeks before the procedure because this reduces the risks of complications such as infections, issues with blood pressure, heart rate, blood flow, and respirations when under anesthesia, and promoting overall health and risks associated with smoking after the procedure. (ASAHQ) It is also important to educate the patient to consume no food or drinks after midnight the night before the scheduled procedure. (Health Communities) During my rotation I observed that the patient did indeed have labs drawn and a urine test run. Her lab ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Magic of Working Together by Ken Blanchard and Sheldon Bowles offers four keys to developing a highly effective team. The authors use a parable story telling technique about a youth recreation hockey league, the Warriors, to demonstrate how implementing the four concepts can turn around a team to success. They parallel the process to show how the same techniques can be used in the business world. The title High Five is used to express the practice of high fiving , the slapping of hands in the air by teammates, to demonstrate the togetherness of a group of people coming together with passion and excitement. We laughingly say we have flow and have even written flow on the wipe board as we begin tough assignments. We have each learned each other s skill set and we depend on each other to contribute and make the end product better. There is no individual star in our Medaille study group. Instead we shine brightly as a single, better entity. We choose our name based on the definition of gestalt. According to the Webster s dictionary online, gestalt is defined as: a structure, arrangement, or pattern of physical, biological, or psychological phenomena so integrated as to constitute a functional unit with properties not derivable by summation of its parts (www.merriam webster.com). I think what the authors are saying has been proven in how we developed our learning team. We learned that we were better together than we were individually. Our commitment to the team grew stronger because we recognized our output was better if done collectively. 4. Keeping the accent on the positive by repeated reward and recognition. The last part of the team performance equation is that individuals and teams need positive recognition. There are numerous typo errors in the LC and misspellings of the destination port and the Seller name, hence only a waiver of the discrepancies from JFTC will enable Bank of China to pay the Seller. • 7. The Environmental Disaster Of The United States Essay Introduction Mining affects the lives of millions of Americans every day. Although the United States has a large amount of coal remaining to be mined and burned, almost three fourths of the public land in America has been declared off limits for mining. Mountaintop mining is a relatively new form of surface mining that has steadily gained popularity. The debate as to whether or not this process is an economic necessity or environmental disaster for Kentuckians is the question. Undoubtedly, it is an environmental disaster and it should be removed in every state that they are using it not to mention the health hazards. One report found states, Although dozens of new coal burning power plants are planned or under construction, the latest coal boom is meeting resistance from critics who want to shift the U.S. economy toward cleaner fuels. Even if electricity from coal is cheaper than other sources, they argue, the savings are far outweighed by its environmental and health impacts (Isabella, 2013). If students backup work to personal backup systems regularly their should be no issues with consistency but if students neglect to backup work every time it is changed then them being in charge of their own backup would ne unpractical because in the event of data loss they could not backupto the most recent version of the file. There also arises an issue of students bringing their own storage media which as well as external storage devices includes the student s device itself. It is possible that the student s devices have become corrupted with various issues such as, worms, virus, adware and spyware. Depending on the conditions, the network connection may create an environment for the malware to spread to other devices and cause multiple infections. However an advantage of this would be the school would not need to spend money on backup hardware. File types would become an issue when students are using a range of freeware on their devices. Rather than pay $1000 dollars for Adobe Photoshop as explained earlier freeware is available that can perform the same tasks to the same or a less technical level. These often have their own file types to save in but many of them for example Kingston office allows users to save in the same file type or a compatible file type for its paid counterpart, however some freeware may not offer this feature which means all work will need to be completed on the students device in ... • 10. India s An Environmental Hazard Essay In early November 2016, Delhi, India faced an environmental hazard that put citizens in a dangerous position. The air was filled with toxins that made it almost impossible for people within the city to go about their daily lives. Everywhere, people asked who was responsible for the problem and whose job it was to implement protections in order to avoid future difficulties. For one to fully understand this issue, they must analyze the monumental growth of cities in the 20th century, previous environmental issues, and Indias complex political past. These contexts can be used to develop a greater perspective on the impact of humans on the world and what actions might be taken to prevent further damage. The New York Times posted an article on November 7th titled, SmogChokes Delhi, Leaving Residents Cowering by Our Air Purifiers that detailed the urgency of the issue. Deadly coarse and fine air particles reached concentrations that have been unheard of before, sixteen times the limit that India s government considers safe. The personal damage sustained physically from daily exposure to these toxins is equivalent to smoking two packs of cigarettes a day, experts say. In an urban area as densely populated as Delhi, concern for the health of citizens is a top priority. • 11. Style Analysis of Amy Tan in The Joy Luck Club Raymond Chandler, a fiction writer, once said, The most durable thing in writing is style. True, the style is often defined as one of the most important elements in writing. In Amy Tan s novel, The Joy Luck Club , the style significantly contributes to the development of both the tone and the theme of the influences that a mother can have on her daughter. The author effectively portrays the somber tone and the theme by using a concise style of diction, images, details, language, sentence structure, point of view, and organization. The author emphasizes the tone and the theme of the novel by using a variety of diction words that include repetition of words, archaic words, connotation, and abstract diction. The sight and sound imageries seem to indicate a lachrymose tone in Lena s house. In general, these imageries provide a picture of melancholy, which achieves a somber tone of the novel. Furthermore, the author explores the tone of the novel by providing specific details. In An mei s childhood story, the author chooses to describe the pain An mei feels as the soup pours over her by providing details of the twinge. She describes it as the kind of pain [specially] terrible that a little child should never remember it and how it still remains in [An mei s] skin s memory (Tan 39). By depicting these details of the pain, Tan expresses the feeling of misery An mei feels, which appends to the melancholy tone. Additionally, in the story of Ying ying s first marriage, the author presents explicit details of the emptiness Ying ying feels by portraying details of her as a tiger that neither pounce[s] nor lay[s] waiting between the trees and an unseen spirit (Tan 285). This emptiness Ying ying feels seems to indicate the melancholy tone that appears noticeable in the novel. Clearly, the details Amy Tan chooses to describe in the novel seem to specify the somber tone. Likewise, the language the author uses also clarifies the tone and the theme of the novel. • 12. California s Court Of Appeal California s Court of Appeal Clarifies Application of anti SLAPP Statutes to Attorney Malpractice Actions California s anti SLAPP statute (codified in Code of Civil Procedure section 425.16) protects the Constitutional rights to freedom of speech and right of petition by subjecting any cause of action that chills these rights to be subject to a special motion to strike. In the context of a complaint against an attorney for malpractice, the California Court of Appeal recently clarified its application under existing precedent and held the anti SLAPP statute did not apply to claims against attorneys by former clients. In Loanvest I, LLC v. Utrecht et al (2015) 235 Cal.App.4th 496, the plaintiff brought an action against its attorneys for malpractice for failing to put its interests before a former client, resulting in damage. At the trial level, the court granted the defendant law firm s special motion to strike under the anti SLAPP statute, finding that the malpractice claim was based upon an act in furtherance of the protected right of petition. The plaintiff thereafter appealed. In making its decision, the trial court relied heavily upon Peregrine Funding, Inc. v. Sheppard Muillin Richter Hampton (2005) 133 Cal.App.4th 658 where the Court of Appeal previously held that claims based upon allegations made by attorneys in judicial filings were within the scope of the anti SLAPP statute and protected. In addition to the apparent bullying over style trends and choices, another issue that could be eliminated through the incorporation of uniforms is the lessening of disciplinary action directed towards students for dress code violations. Almost daily, students are sent to the office for dress code checks which are most often handled by the Vice Principal. Students are commonly sent for checks based on the following items that are considered questionable: midriff revealing tops, ripped and low rise jeans, short skirts and shorts, exposed shoulders and necklines and spandex for the girls. Then there are ill fitting jeans and inappropriate slogans on t shirts and sweatshirts for the boys. • 30. Aristotle Virtuous According to Aristotle virtue is achieving excellence of the soul. (1) For man to become virtuous they must build habits that model virtuous behavior. Aristotle believed that moral virtue forms through habit and no one is born virtuous. Under this premise virtue is both learned and practiced through our behaviors. When one acts in a moral and virtuous way they become more virtuous, the opposite is true also that if one acts in a non virtuous way they will learn to become less virtuous. To be virtuous you also must maintain a balance which is called the mean. Aristotlefurther states that you cannot merely define virtuein terms of characteristics, you must also specify the kind of characteristic, and that this virtue renders good the thing itself of which it is the excellence, and performs its function well at the same time.(2) To live in the mean is to be virtuous. The mean is making choices that are the right amount of virtue, or the correct balance of choices. To act either in excess or a lack of virtue is a vice. It is the ability of choosing to act in the mean or middle that is considered virtuous. This can easily been in examples, if a wealthy man had the resources to help others and give some of his money he could be a virtuous man if he did so while acting in the mean. Additionally, it provided developed data analysis and management software for use by the genome community. A simple Perl based data exchange format was formed in partnership with this core to allow loosely coupled programs to attach to a pipe based I /O stream and use tag/value pairs to easily reach into an input stream, pull out tags of interest, manipulate them and then drop new tags into the output stream. Tags that weren t of interest were passed through a standard input so that other programs in the pipeline could reach them. With interchanging data, a common data exchange format was created to contain a superset of data that each analysis and editing tools needed. Two Perl scripts were made for each module and were responsible for converting formats which simplified the programming and maintenance of tasks considerably. Department Store Industry Analysis in Mexico Essay Mexican Department Store Industry The department store industry in Mexico functions just like the majority of department stores around the world. They target the middle to upper class people with money to spend on popular brands, food and entertainment. While the department store chains in many countries tend to focus on one line of products (e.g., clothing), the department stores in Mexico have diversified products and services that helps to decrease direct competition, but it also makes it more difficult to predict a competitor s next move. Additionally, Philipe Calderon s effort to reduce corruption eases the barriers to entry. Although the middle class is not extremely big, it is growing, which makes it a very desirable target market. Dances With Wolves And Avatar Dances with Wolves and Avatar: Similar but Different Dances with Wolves and Avatar are thought to be very different, but they are actually more similar than viewers may realize. First off, these are two must see films! The viewer walks away with much more than just having seen a movie. Both of these movies encourage cultural understanding, motivate, and teach individuality. Dances with Wolves and Avatarare alike in plot and cultural significance. These two films are alike in plot because in both films, two men, John Dunbar and Jake Sully, willingly put themselves into a completely new culture and lifestyle. They learn to adapt to the differences and learn a new way of life in order to survive. For example, in the movies Dances with Wolves and Avatar, John Dunbar and Jake Sully had to learn each tribe s way of life, such as their language, hunting, and self defense. Eventually, the two men are recognized as part of a tribe, for John the Sioux Indian Tribe and for Jake the Na vi Tribe. These two films are alike in cultural significance because they both show the viewer not to believe all that is said about individuals, races, and cultures. In the two films, both tribes were first looked at as evil enemies, but once the two men each took the time to get to know the individuals and the tribes as a whole, they realized that it was all just a lie. Companies like Sony or Nintendo hire companies that test their products and make sure there are no problems with the product. A small percentage of Xbox units were defective as stated in an article titled, Microsoft Addresses Report on Xbox Defects, by Shahed Ahmed. Defects in a small percentage of any products sold happen often. However, another complaint surfaced shortly after the Xbox was released: the controller was over sized and the button configuration was inconvenient for certain games. Microsoft quickly addressed this complaint by releasing a redesigned controller that was smaller and had a more convenient button configuration. The release of the new controller Microsoft is well documented in the article written by Giancarlo Varanini titled, Redesigned Xbox Controller in the Works. The Microsoft Xbox is a great example of how a product is never perfect, no matter how much it is tested prior its release. Product usability testing will never catch all the flaws, in my opinion, because either the test groups are not diverse enough or there is not enough time to efficiently test a given product. However, increasing the variety of test subjects along with the size of the test groups would certainly reduce the problem, References 1. Ahmed, S. (2000, December 19). Identification Of Unknown Organisms And Two Eukaryotes Identification of Unknown Organisms Benjamin Nibarger Professor Hoffman Monday 11:15 AM Group Members Jamie Jerome, Natalie Perez, Ruth Pinzon September 27, 2014 Introduction The purpose of this study is to identify four unknown organisms. The unknown organisms have been assigned randomly to six research groups by Professor Hoffman. Each research group was provided two eukaryotes and two prokaryotes. The unknown organisms will fall into the following classifications: bacteria, algae, fungi, or protozoans. All living organisms are organized into one of three domains of life, Bacteria, Archaea, and Eukarya. The Domain Bacteria Bacteria and Archaea are prokaryotic, which are mostly single celled incomplex microorganisms. Both Bacteria and Archaea have a variety of prokaryotes classified in multiple kingdoms (Reece, et al., Campbell Biology, 2014). There are a number of scientists who believe that Archaea cells may be the precursor to Eukaryotic cells and that they have more in common with Eukaryotes than Prokaryotes (Madigan, Martinko, Dunlap, 2009). Prokaryotes are ubiquitous, successfully adapting to diverse environments as well as developing symbiotic relationships with host organisms (Lengeler, Drews, Schlegel, 1999). Prokaryotes may have both autotrophic and heterotrophic characteristics. A cyanobacteria is photosynthetic, commonly called blue green algae, and may produce toxins (Crayton, 1993). • 37. Justice Is Not Rigid And Unchanging Like So Many People Justice is not rigid and unchanging like so many want to believe. For the Ancient Greeks in the 8th century, blood justice is the only way to settle disputes. By the mid 400s BCE, there are glimpses of what will later become a trial by jury in a democratic judicial system. Aeschylus plays show a distinct shift from blood justice to a more democratic system. Even Homer, when writing his epic works, seems to hint at a better way to resolve conflict than the eye for an eye mentality. The Iliad acts as book ends to the transformation of blood justice to a trial by jury as presented by The Oresteia; and that transformation positively influences how Western culture deals with justice. Blood justice to the Ancient Greeks is their way of enacting retribution on parties that did them wrong. The punishment required by blood justice must fit the crime committed, Act for act, wound for wound life for a life; and that leads to many turning to their rage as a tool to help them justify their actions (Agamemnon1555). The Iliad opens with Rage Goddess, sing the rage of Peleus son Achilles(Iliad i.1). It is Achilles rage that is called upon and drives his actions through the entire work. Achilles rage is to right a great wrong done to him, but it comes at a deadly cost. Patroclus begs to be sent into battle to help the Greeks fight. He wants to bring some light of victory to the Argives by donning Achilles armor to boost morale and drive back the Trojans (Iliad xvi.43 49). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

No that is not a typo, this is real life. It was a hard fought battle between Hillary Clinton and the Donald which ultimately lead to one of the most shocking upsets in recent American politics. Being that the odds were heavily stacked against Trump as poll after poll predicted Clinton be the victor, it was to the astonishment of many that he reigned victorious during this 2016 presidential electioncycle. Be it the will of the country (or in this case electoral college ) this poisonous cheeto will now be the 45th president of the United States. So how did this happen, what was it about Trump that pushed voter behavior in his favor in many key battleground states? Trumps victory lies in the hands of the silent majority who at this point were dying for change and saw it within the republican nominee. The biggest contributing factor to Trump s win on November 8 was retrospective votingwhich a lot of voters clearly engaged in this election cycle. When making the decision of who to vote for during an election, voters often tend to start looking within at their own situation before throwing their support at a candidate. Questioning whether ones is better off now than they were before the previous election is known as retrospective voting. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Emily Dickinson and Robert Frost wrote many poems about their emotions and the darkness that they faced or in their childhood or adult life. Dickinson writes about darkness because she always stayed in her house; she did not leave her house and she did not see the light of the sky in her life (Tredell). We Grow Accustomed to the Dark, by Emily Dickinson, is about the darkness and hopelessness. This poem has a deeper meaning about people who have to face all kinds of struggle or problems in their life. The poet writes, When light is put away As when the Neighbor holds the Lamp (Dickinson We Grow, 2 3). This means that sometimes it s tough to solve a problem, but there is always hope to solve any kind of problem. All kinds of struggle can help one to learn about the struggle and also to get experiences to solve these problems or struggles again in the future. Acquainted with the Night, by Robert Frost, is about a person who is walking alone in the rain. He is approached by a cop (watchman) and the speaker looks down and walks away from a cop. The author mentions, And dropped my eyes, unwilling to explain (Frost Acquainted, 6). This quote means that speaker does not make eye contact with the cop because he does not want to explain to the cop what he is doing outside at the night time. I have stood still and stopped the sound of feet. When far away an interrupted cry (Frost Acquainted, 7 8) this quote explains while the speaker is walking, he hears, someone crying in one of the houses on the street. But not to call me back or say good bye (Frost Acquainted, 10) this explains that the speaker does not want to see who is crying; however; he ignores that crying sound and walks away from it. I have looked down the saddest city lane (Frost Acquainted, 4) this proves that the speaker in the poem is very depressed. The speaker is lonely or maybe the speaker is ... Examine some of the key principles of the argument for the existence of God based upon religious experiences Religious experiences are experiences we have of the divine or God. These experiences may be Mystical experiences, conversion experiences or revelatory experiences. Paul Tillich states that religious experience is a feeling of ultimate concern , a feeling that demands a decisive decision from the one receiving it. He describes it as an encounter followed by a special understanding of its religious significance. The argument for religious experiences is based on 3 premises. Premise one states that the experience of X indicates the reality of X. One problem with this premise is that the experience of X does not always indicate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The problems with premise three can also be highlighted by looking at the religious experience of Mosses when he saw God in the burning bush. When God came to him, Mosses had just killed a man and run away into the desert. Therefore he could be experiencing extreme guilt which could cause him to have an illusion. Also if he is in the desert then he was most likely dehydrated which again could cause an illusion. Therefore other factors may be used to explain religious experiences. Another example to support premise three, and one that addresses the problem of the subjective nature of religious experiences, is corporate religious experiences. This is when large numbers of people all have the same religious experience at the same time. The fact that they are experienced by many leads to the fact that they can be objectively tested and the accounts validated adding further support for the argument. Those that argue that religious experiences are proof of the existence of God usually argue inductively. This means that they look at the subjective testimonies of individuals who claim to have had religious experiences in order to find similar characteristics and then draw the general conclusion that the experiences can only be explained in terms of the existence of God. For example Swinburne argued inductively supporting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Butler quick thinking into a policy, the First Confiscation Act, in August of 1861 which stated that the federal government had authority to seize any property owned by the Confederates which included slaves. By March the following year, an Article of War was produced which prohibited any military or naval services from returning run away or fugitive slaves to their respective masters, nullifying the Fugitive Acts all together. When the Second Confiscation Act was announced in July of 1862 it declared forever free Confederate owned slaves who made their way to federal lines or who resided in rebellious territory that fell to federal forces (Luke and Smith 2014, 14). Also in the bill, was the legitimisation of the president to utilise persons of African descent in any way that he considered necessary and proper for the suppression of the rebellion (Luke and Smith 2014, 14). Thus the Militia Act of July 1862, which gave Lincoln carte blanche (Luke and Smith 2014, 14) to make use of black resources. Although these acts were issued with the intention of blacks serving as military labour it gave way to many possibilities. The first to act on these possibilities was Major General Jon C.
