Larceny Fraud
I recently finished a stint with the IRS Criminal Investigation Division and I was exposed to some of
the principles we are talking about. Effective and efficient internal controls are paramount in negating
and mitigating the possibility of internal fraud.
A. Identify the people who have the opportunity to steal cash
Operation employee
Audit staff
Financial Manager
B. Identify ways in which these individuals can steal cash
There are many different methods used by employees to steal from a company. Often when you
mention employee theft, the first thought is of a cashier pocketing some money from the cash register
or a maintenance person stealing some items from around the office. While this happens, there are
many other ways that employee steal from the company. The most common types of employee theft,
as reported by the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB)5, are:
1 Larceny/Embezzlement
2 Skimming
3 Fraudulent Disbursements
4 Stealing Business Opportunities
Each type of theft is committed in a different way and will be explained in detail in the next sections.
4.1 Larceny/Embezzlement
Larceny is defined as the unlawful taking of personal property with intent to deprive the rightful
owner of it permanently. This is the type of theft that involves an employee outright stealing cash or
property from the employer. It is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is critical for small businesses to make sure that they maintain control over their company and
prevent this type of behavior ever being part of the corporate culture. It is important to know that most
employees are not inclined to steal and that 80% will only steal due to the opportunity and likelihood
that they will get away with it. This temptation can also be applied to business owners and it is
important to know the temptations that may arise and cause employers to illegally increase their
income as

Homer Bad Man Analysis
Modern society relies heavily on media, a form of mass communication, to inherit its values and
beliefs on political and social issues occurring around the world. Two of the most common forms of
communication in this field are current affairs programs and news broadcasts. Due to the mass
production and high demand for news around the world, the images and stories presented to the public
are often skewed, therefore sometimes misrepresenting the truth behind the stories being reported on.
As media has become more commonplace in modern society, modern texts have explored this idea
more frequently. Both the television series, Frontline by Rob Sitch et al and The Simpsons episode

The episode has the media depict Homer Simpson, the protagonist, as sexually harassing a younger
woman when the audience can see that Homer was really trying to retrieve his precious gummy bear
from the back of the woman s pants. When the woman retaliates to what she assumes is an act of
harassment, the media begin to get involved and a fictitious news station called Rock Bottom asks to
interview Homer to get his account of the story. The report begins with the woman portrayed as a
university honours student who devoted her life to kids, (Daniels Lynch, 1994, 10:46) and Homer as a
grossly overweight pervert. (Daniels Lynch, 1994, 10:49) When she is spoken about, the music is
angelic and sweet which suddenly contrasts to the sinister non diagetic sound played when Homer is
depicted. Later in the interview, Daniels and Lynch humorously show the blatant and obvious cuts in
the interview by the clock in the background constantly switching back and forward in time, and
Homer s words cutting from sweet and candy repeatedly. This mise en scene and use of cinematic
techniques within the show, is used to portray how easy it is for the media to misrepresent the truth

Sexual Orientation And Gender Identity
As mainstream media is now embracing the once taboo topics of sexual orientation and gender
identity as popular culture utilities, psychologists and medical professionals are still researching the
biological, psychological, and social differences between the two. Since the phenomena of ¨coming
out, or openly identifying as a sexual orientation or gender identity besides heterosexual or cisgender
respectively, is a relatively recent anomaly, there is limited but contemporary research. The analyses
done so far indicate a universal and clear consensus signaling the separation and unrelated nature of
sexual orientation and gender identity. The American Psychological Association on their webpage
defines sexual orientation as ...the sex of those to whom one is sexually and romantically
attracted...research has suggested that sexual orientation does not always appear in such definable
categories and instead occurs on a continuum. In addition, some research indicates that sexual
orientation is fluid for some people. While in contrast, gender identity is defined as one s sense of
oneself as male, female, or transgender. Milton Diamond attempted to separate the aspects of one s
personality in his 2002 research paper entitled Sex and Gender are Different: Sexual Identity and
Gender Identity are Different. Diamond asserts that in order to understand the distinction between
gender and sexual identity, one must understand the distinction between gender and sex, two words

Give Four Reasons Why Jesus Became A Man Essay
Throughout the universe, Jesus is unique. There is no other person like Him, for He is both God and
man. This is what we teach the Bible.
But why would Jesus want to become a man? What He did would be comparable to a rich man leaving
his beautiful mansion and everything I had to become poor and live in misery. It would be like a great
powerful king leaving to all those who respect and obey him to become detested and abhorred. But
Jesus did all this, and even more. By his own will He left his divine position with God the Father. He
wanted to take the man shape In fact, the title Son of Man arrives to be the one that he used most often
when he referred to himself same. It appears 79 times in the gospels. What happened when Jesus

He had to be born, because every human being is born, and He was a human being. However, there
was an important difference. So that Jesus could be born as a descendant of Adam, it was necessary
that he had a human mother. But He did not have a human father. God was his Father. By the miracle
of virgin birth prophesied by Isaiah, God came to dwell among men and be one of them. Lucas, the
doctor, did an investigation of the facts, and wrote the following about the birth of Jesus:
In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee, called Nazareth, a virgin
espoused with a man that his name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the Mary s name was
Mary. And entering the Angel where she was, said: Hail, very favored! The Lord is with you; blessed
you between women. But she, when she saw him, was troubled by her words, and I thought what
salutation this would be. Then the angel said to her: Mary, fear not, because you have found favor
before God. And now, you will conceive in your womb, and you will give birth to a son, and you will
call his name JESUS. This will be great, and he will be called Son of the Most High; and the Lord
God will give him the throne of David his father; and will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and
His kingdom will have no end. Then Mary said to the angel: How will it be? I do not know a man

The 4 Week Incidence, Timing And Predictors Of Ischemic...
Background and purpose: To quantify the 4 week incidence, timing and predictors of ischemic stroke
after trauma in a population based young cohort.
Methods: We electronically identified trauma patients ( 30 days apart could be considered
independent. As a secondary analysis, we calculated stroke incidence including all cases with a stroke
ICD 9 code in order to provide a useful comparison with studies using ICD 9 stroke diagnoses for the
outcome. For trauma patients who suffered a stroke, we graphically demonstrated time to stroke after
trauma using Kaplan Meier failure curves, with trauma as the time of origin and stroke as the failure
event, right censoring at death or four weeks after trauma.
For the case control study, we used logistic regression to calculate odds ratios (OR) and 95%
confidence intervals (CI) as an estimate of stroke risk. In order to determine whether stroke risk varied
differentially by location of injury, we first examined each location individually. We then modeled the
association between stroke and each injury location with adjustment for age, race, sex and
multisystem trauma (given that the composite multisystem trauma variable does not specify injury
location).
Results: From a population of 34 million enrolled in KPNC over the 15 year study period, we
identified 989,333 patients who had 1,308,009 emergency department encounters or admissions to the
hospital for trauma. Patients contributed a median of one trauma encounter (interquartile range

Radiation Therapy Research Paper
2.3.2 Respiratory Gating for Radiation Therapy
Respiratory gating techniques are used to track the tumor motion in uenced by respiratory cycles
during external beam radiation therapy in order to ensure tumoricidal dose to the target site while
avoiding healthy normal tissue toxicity Vedam et al. (2003); Kini et al.
(2003); Ford et al. (2003); Kubo et al. (2000); Vedam et al. (2001); Mageras et al. (2001);
Wagman et al. (2001); Mageras and Yorke (2004). The word gate is referred to as a window of the
respiratory cycle that is chosen to deliver the radiation beam that maximizes the radiation dose
received at the target site. The three criteria that are considered when designing the gated region of the
respiratory cycle are: The window during respiratory cycle

Two important components that are considered when analyzing respiratory motion patterns are phase
and displacement. The beam is red at the target site depending on the phase or displacement
windows chosen during the respiratory motion. Due to the gated technique, the overall treatment
process takes longer when compared to the conventional methods of administering radiation therapy.
The ratio between the gated beam delivery and the overall treatment time determines the eciency of
the treatment called duty cycle. However, even after the gate has been optimized for a respiratory
cycle, there exists minimal tumor motion called the residual motion Berbeco et al. (2005). To optimize
the gateing technique that improves the therapeutic ecacy of radiation therapy and provides patient
safety, a balance between the two (duty cycle and residual motion) needs to be met. The location and
the size of the gate are dependent on the tracking of the target site or host organ by means of internal
and external surrogates, internal and external markers or markerless

Zara
Zara is an international retailer that is continuously growing in popularity due to the store s trend
sensitive and affordable styles. Inditex, Zara s distribution group, is one of Spain s greatest successes
in that they have dominated the global market. Their unique business model and marketing tactics
have a lot to do with this company s worldwide success. This retailer exhibits a creative and eco
friendly business plan that integrates design, just in time production, marketing and sales. With a
vertically integrated supply chain system, Zara controls product design, development, manufacturing,
selling and distribution to retailers, product service and advertising. ... Show more content on

Their method is to have a limited amount of merchandise within the stores and replenish with new
styles and trends quickly so that nothing is sitting on the floor for too long, therefore having a speedy
product life cycle. Shoppers always have new products to choose from and that keeps the sales in
stores flowing.
Zara s vertically integrated supply chain management has had a great advantage on this retailer s sales.
The risk that other retailers take with trying to predict fashion trends a year in advance is eliminated
for Zara. Due to the store s rapid restocks of new designs every two weeks, customers are introduced
to the latest fashion trends. This is a trait that puts Zara above its competitors such as H M and Gap.
Zara possesses a very wide ranging merchandise assortment sold in stores but produce a low quantity
of garments so if an item does not sell as well as they had hoped, they wont lose as much revenue as
there is not as much stock to be discounted. This also allows Zara to react quickly and analyze a fast
response should the market change rapidly.
Beginning with basic fabric dyeing, nearly all of Zara s garments form in a design and manufacturing
center in La Coruna, with most of the sewing done by seamstresses from 400 local co operatives.
Designers collaborate with store managers regularly to determine which items are in high demand and
which items can be

Toyota Motor Corporation Ivan Ruiz DeVry University Toyota Motor Corporation has a long and
interesting history behind it. In 1933, Kiichiro Toyoda traveled to the United States. There he visited
many car companies that produces automobiles (Toyota Motor Corporation Company Profile,

Today consumers are more aware of the negative effects (air pollution) caused by cars. They know
what the affects can cause to the earth and therefore consumers are more likely to buy hybrid cars
instead of a regular car. This will limit the amount of CO2 pumped into the earth s atmosphere. 2.
Increasing fuel prices. One other advantage that Toyota has working for them is the fuel prices
incising at a high rate. With the fuel prices increasing consumers are looking for fuel friendly vehicles
that will cost less at the pump (Jurevicius, 2013). Threats 1. Decreasing fuel prices. Then there is a
possibility of fuel prices decreasing at a future time. Therefore, hybrid car and electric cars will
become less favored. 2. Rising raw material prices. Rising raw material prices increase so will the the
price of the cars. The prices are important to manufactures because this means that they will need to
increase the sales and so their profits will decrease. 3. Natural disasters. Natural disasters can be a
huge impact on Toyota s manufacturing facilities. Recent events have proved it in countries such as
China, Thailand, and Japan (Jurevicius, 2013). Competition Of course Toyota Motor s isn t the biggest
name out there. Any company who is in the car business becomes Toyota s competitor. However, the
three biggest competitors Toyota has are Ford Motor Company, General Motors Company, and Honda

Essay on Import Substitution Industrialization
Around the 1930s, Brazil and Latin American began following the process of Import Substitution
Industrialization, which lasted until the end of the 1980s. The ISI policies devaluated the currency in
order to boost exports and discourage imports, followed by adopting different exchange rates for
goods (Watkins). ISI in Brazil had an interesting effect; it created a three prong system of
governmental, private, and foreign capital being directed at the infrastructure and heavy industry,
manufacturing goods, and the production of durable goods. The program worked at first but then
became a serious economic problem. When the 1980s came around Brazil realized that ISI policies

This helped keep the inflation low and with the high interest rates, a lot of foreign capital began to
flow into the country. The government s actions in the military dictatorship made it difficult for Brazil
to attract foreign capital however; the Government under the Real Plan had a strong focus on the
balance of payments and tried to maintain a positive influx of capital into the nation by appeasing the
international public and to improve the economy (Joffe Watt). The Real Plan helped the economy so
much that it began gaining value against the US currency, however in the late 1990s the currency
began to devaluate. For the Real Plan to keep working the currency had to appreciate with the
economy, this would assure a constant supply of foreign capital and products that maintained the
market stable.
Following the Real Plan, Brazil had a minor economic downturn but after 2002, the economy has been
increasing at a steady pace. The economy was able to grow around 4% in 2000, however the issues in
Argentina in 2001 and the uncertainty of whom the next president would be created a confidence crisis
in the economy. However in 2002 when Luis Inácio Lula da Silva (Lula) won the election most of the
issues about his presidency went thrown out because of his policies. Even though Lula had very liberal
policies he began making Brazil look

Accidental Death of an Anarchist
Q) Critically analyze the Figure of Madman in Dario Fo s play The Accidental Death of an anarchist.
A) Dario Fo s play The Accidental Death of an Anarchist (1970) lies in the category of revolutionary
theatre that challenges the fascist regime of Italy. The play is a farce based on events involving a real
person, Giuseppe Pinelli, who fell or was thrown from the fourth floor window of a Milan police
station in 1969. He was accused of bombing a bank. The accusation is widely seen as part of the
Italian Far Right s strategy of tension. Just like Fo s other play, this play is also funny and subversive

to the left wing politics. The play ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

contradicts other characters as well as himself. His series of logical/illogical arguments becomes
impossible to tackle and it frustrates the Police Department. Even though being termed as
psychologically unfit, the madman appears to be the most intelligent character in the play. He ridicules
the police officials for missing out on the basic concepts of English grammar and the use of the most
important COMMA that changes the meaning of a sentence. He dictates the terms of law and judiciary
to police officials. He is extremely sarcastic. He ridicules the superintendent for assuming the railway
man planted the bomb in railway station without any substantiate evidence and sarcastically rebukes
the kindergarten logic .
The people in power appear to be inhuman and brute in their actions, and the sacred governmental
place, the police station appears to be a madhouse or a slaughterhouse. The madman, even though he
is mad appears to be the sanest character in the play. In fact, he appears to be directing the play
according to his wishes. Suffering from a disease

A Report On Vigna Unguiculata
Introduction Vigna unguiculata is a common subtropic secondary crop utilized for sustenance amongst
populations. Also referred to as the cowpea, this commodity holds great value in tropical Third World
nations such as Nigeria since it serves as an inexpensive resource which provides protein and energy
(Dauost, 1986). Therefore, it is essential that this crop remains prevalent in today s agricultural world.
Unfortunately, Vigna unguiculata faces a large amount of predation from multiple species, one of
which is the bean beetle Callosobruchus maculatus. This pest, along with others, leads to crop failure
and a complete loss in the resource for potentially an entire agricultural season. Callosobruchus
maculatus, a plant feeding insect, compromises the integrity of Vigna unguiculata populations by
using either this plant or other dry bean species as a location to reproduce and lay eggs (Tuda, 2006).
Numerous methods to combat this agricultural problem have been tested and observed. One study
suggested artificially selecting certain Vigna unguiculata with key enzymes to hinder the growth of
Callosobruchus maculatus eggs within the beans (Filho, 1991). However, a definite correlation has not
been discovered and more studies are required. Other investigations utilized the implementation of
various oils, which functioned as a natural pesticide against Callosobruchus maculatus. Research
conducted by R. Rajapakse, professor of veterinary parasitology at the University of

Either way it seems to me that DT is mourning our separation from the rest of creation.
Throughout the poem there is other various references to life and things generally associated with life.
In line 16 the lips of time leech to the fountain head , I think the phrase the fountain head is a
metaphor for the womb and the lips of time phrase serves as a reminder that life is only temporary and
the time in which life can be created by other living things is even shorter (e.g. women can only have
children up to a certain age). Generally the poem focuses on both this similarity between man and the
environment, and on one major difference humans have conscious self awareness plus the ability of
language and speech. This emphasises the irony that although people are physically one with the
universe, they are separated from it by intellectual consciousness.
The poem consists of five stanzas. Each of the stanzas are made up of five lines (except the last, which
has two lines). The 3rd line of each stanza is shorter than the two before and after it. I think DT has
purposely done this to make you stop whilst reading the poem and pay attention to what has just been
said. Also, each line of the poem is regular with the 4th line

Mark Kendall and The Nanopatch Technology
A needle free vaccine patch that s safer and way cheaper
Today, vaccination is regarded to as one of the greatest medical achievements. A lot of diseases such
as smallpox, that were killers thousands of years ago are have become almost nonexistent all thanks to
vaccines. Over the last a few years, there has been arguments and debates about how effective
vaccines are. Vaccines contain weak viruses and when entering the body, the immune system identifies
the foreign substances (antigens). Once the antigens are identified the immune system develops
proteins called antibodies which are made of lymphocytes of B cells; the antibodies circle in the body
and kill antigens. Memory cells then remember the antigens so that when exposed to the same
antigens again, they ll kill them. Still, 160 years after the invention of the needle and syringe, they are
still being used to deliver vaccines. On the podcast A needle free vaccine patch that s safer and way
cheaper , Mark Kendall argues that it s time to advance. He states that even though vaccines are
successful technology and have increased our life span, the needle and syringe have some
shortcomings. These shortcoming are cross contaminations with needle, it could hold back next
generation s vaccines in terms of immune response, and it could be responsible for the problem of
cold chain. In order to fix these shortcomings, Mark Kendall and his team have come up with a
solution called Nanopatch. The Nanopatch technology is made with

Our Little Mary is Dying, Reverend Essays
Gledhill knew that Mary was dying. She seemed sure to die before the night was much older. A man of
the cloth used to death and grieving might not save Mary but he would be able to soften the family s

to serve the dying in the little parish of Holmeside where the Dark Angel was a regular visitor.
Gledhill arrived at the imposing residence breathless. Mistress Joanne Martin, the vicar s wife

You should know not to speak in that manner about your betters. Get away with you. My husband will

cap in his hands as though squeezing the life out of it.
The woman also relented of her sudden passion. I ll ask him, she said in a weary voice, but don t
expect anything. He s no mind to put himself out for the feckless!
She went inside, and although she was only gone for twenty seconds it seemed like hours to the
agitated father. Heeding the summons, Reverend Walter Martin thrust his irritated face through the
doorway, swinging the door wide in his anger. He had heard enough of the previous exchange to know
that on his doorstep stood a man speaking ill of his benefactor, and that told the divine that Gledhill
was not among the elect and neither the church nor its clergy had any obligation to minister to him,
whatever misfortune was visited on him or his children. His mind was made up before he spoke to
Gledhill, and so he laid a trap to catch the him out so that he could deny him the benefit of his holy
office and its ministrations with some sense of what passed for rectitude in his mind.

Farewell To Manzanar Analysis
These days most people don t realize that we need to accept what s happening in our lives and just
look to the light at the end of the tunnel. Sean McCabe, web designer, lettering guru, and successful
entrepreneur says, Endurance is the price tag to achievement. In Farewell to Manzanar we see a motif
of endurance conveyed through the symbolic characteristics of stones. Jeanne Wakatsuki Houston was
put into relocation camps along with about 110,000 just because they were of Japanese descent.
However throughout the story of her journey in Manzanar we hear the Japanese saying, Shikata ga
nai. Jeanne and many other people in the book say this, which roughly translates to, it cannot be
helped. These people endured the imprisonment and injustice simply because they saw that it must be
endured. The stone motif in the story screams out the idea that when faced with a challenge you must
endure and let it sculpt you into the person you are.
Throughout the book when the stone motif comes into play it has a strong connection to something a
character experienced. This is first shown when Papa cries when he is playing the
Greek 2
Japanese anthem. It brings back a memory of what the song means to him. It can be a man s life. (91)

The lighting would have to be a major part in this movie. They showed the audience what is exactly in
the Mexico such as the candle lights. They had used higher technology lighting to create fireflies

The Basseri culture is one of the traditional Pastoral nomads who inhabit in Iran. The Basseri speak

Arabic. In these research paper I will be writing a little of the aspects that identify the Pastoralism. I

Labor is also divided among household members by sex and age, but few tasks are allowed to only
one sex or one age. Domestic tasks are mainly done by woman and girls. They prepare food, wash and
mend cloth, and do spinning and weaving. The men and boys provide the wood and the water. They
also participate in the repairs of the equipment and their tents. The general level of nutrition and
hygene among the basseri is quite high. They are relatively healthy and robust, which contributes to a
high fertility rate in females of the tribe. The average of children a woman can have varies from three
to five.
Among the Baseri, each household has from 6 to 12 donkeys, and less than 100 sheep and goats. Since
their herds are very important to them they spend great amount of time tending them. Sometimes two
to five tents may combine their flock and entrust them to a single shepherded. The shepherd is always
a male and he is occupied with the flock all day .
During the winter, groups of two or five tents associated in herding units make up local camps that
separate each tent three or four kilometers. At other time of the year the camps are larger and usually
number ten to forty tents. The members of the camp are very clearly founded social group and their
relationships to each other are continuing neighbors. The maintance of the camp as a social unit
requires daily agreement on questions of migration, the selection of campsites, and other economically

Michael Jordan Obstacles
Michael Jordan is known to many as the world s greatest basketball player, but most people don t
realize how many obstacles he faced in order to succeed. He has missed over and over again in [his]
life and that is why [he] succeeds. People trusted him over and over again and often times he failed.
However, he didn t give up. Michael Jordan s continual trial and error connects to the poem, Mother to
Son and the theme of never giving up no matter how hard the obstacles you face. The poem is about a
mother telling her son how she is still going and how she persevered through the tough obstacles she
faced in life. Therefore, Langston Hughes s Mother to Son portrays a strong and evident theme of
never giving up and overcoming obstacles as you face them. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

For instance, Langston describes the stairs as torn up with splinters and tacks which demonstrates the
obstacles and hardships on the mother s walk of life (Hughes 1). Moreover, these obstacles did not
stop the mother from getting back up. Another example is when the mother tells her son Ise still
climbin (Hughes 19). This reveals that even though the mother faces difficulties, she is still going.
Furthermore, it connects to the theme when the mom is encouraging the son to not give up even when
things are difficult. The imagery in the story proves how the mom is preaching about never giving up

Pete Docter Up Analysis
In the film, Up , directed by Pete Docter, an important idea is change. This important idea is shown
through Docter s use of dialogue, medium shot and dramatic soundtrack. This idea is important and
relevant to society today because it teaches us to accept any changes that may occur and to make the
most of the time available to you.
Up is a film about an old widower, Carl Fredricksen, following his promise he had with Ellie, Carl s
partner, of going to the forbidden Paradise Falls and to see his idol, Charles Muntz, who turns out to
be disgraced. Carl embarks on his journey to the South America wilderness in the balloon powered
house of his own invention. But Carl s worst nightmare comes true when he discovers a young
adventuresome wilderness explorer , Russell is also aboard the balloon house. After they faced many
challenges, Carl finally gets to the top of Paradise Falls.
This idea of change is shown through Docter s use of medium shot. An example of this is when Carl
hits the construction guy on his head with the walking stick. Docter uses these techniques to show us

teaching us about this idea was to help us better understand that Carl has changed so far since the
death of Ellie Carl shrinks his negative attitudes toward the world and the people around him. He used
to snub Russell but now he treats Russell like his own grandson. This idea is still relevant today

Spanish Caste System Essay
Through the racial caste system of the Spanish Colonial Era, it is known that the people of mixed race
and dark skin of the time were viewed as inferior by the Spaniards. This inferiority complex was
mainly due to one group of people oppressing another. The irony behind this instance is that it was the
minority oppressing the majority. Another factor behind the success of the caste system was
internalized oppression, or, in other words, one group of people oppressing themselves. Through
accepting this perspective of thinking and contributing to the society that surrounded them, these
mixed race people ended up adding fuel to the fire of their oppression. According to Martha
Menchaca, author of Recovering History, Reconstructing Race, self oppression came because of the
vacancy of leadership positions in New Spain. At the core, this vacancy gave those who were not pure
Spaniards the opportunity to achieve a greater sense of social acceptance. In her book, Menchaca
states that while these people of color did, to an extent, succeed in improving their quality of life, the
tyrannical narrative was never really changed. Furthermore, it was this search for a better life that
created the foundation for what is now Mexico today.
People of color were oppressed from the very beginning of the colonial movement. The caste system
that the Spaniards created used race as the foundation for justifying subjugation. Through the caste
system, one could see that people with lighter skin and

Essay On Single American Food
Diet is a huge concern for many people today who are either trying to control a preventable disease or
those people who are trying to lose the excess weight that they are carrying around with them. Not
only has our diet as Americans been steadily getting worse but as our population has risen there have
been very few attempts to counter the negative effects that over processing our food has done. Every
Single American, who has eaten the hot lunches at school remembers and has a first hand knowledge
of the taste of preservatives and manufactured flavor of the food they ate during their formative years
attending Elementary through High School. To get an understanding of our diet we need to see the
what has been in front of our faces for generations. In fact at least 2 generations. The only generation
in its entirety to to not see food that was processed and packaged for shelf life was that of our greatest
generation... those people who fought and won World War II. Many of them were exposed to it during
their time in the Military but up until then had probably grown most of their food themselves or, at the
very least, had access to fresh, food sans preservatives. What was it about that time frame that has now
caused the greatest lack of basic constituents that food has ever known? I will cover that in another
article. You, like me have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This doesn t mean that I advocate vegetarianism or veganism as that is a specific choice with it s own

supplement what they are lacking in their diets unless they grow all their food themselves, but I
digress. Essential oils are part of the Alternative Medicine category but are becoming more and more
relevant in Conventional Medicine as scientists are realizing the importance of these very basic
substances because of their wide variety of

Essay On The Army
I knew you would screw up something... It always happens, and always a different way... but this
situation looks very serious... Where are the rest of the guys? Major looked at me questionably and
Dusko also looked at me but with the horror in his eyes. To me, it was funny how their looks were
different, reflecting their totally different positions at that moment. It would be much nicer to watch
this entire situation as a movie from some good seats. But, it was not a time for analyzing their minds,
no matter how much alcohol I had in my system.

For a short time, he was my superior officer in reserve but he never acted like an officer, he was more
to me as a friend, brother... So, I know you and I am not surprised with what I found here...
He took a hefty sip of brandy from his glass and smoked his cigarette... Dusko and I were quiet, not
wanting to disturb him. Both of them were now smoking and the room was full of thick smoke.
But, I did not come all this way here to control you. It s not my duty, there are few our captains and
lieutenants in charge of controlling of all our units. But, something happened... One of our captains
from command was playing with the grenade during the New Year celebration, just a few hours ago.
He was teasing some other people who would hold the grenade for the longest period without security
pin... And somehow... who knows how the grenade exploded in his hand... I was called immediately
and rushed to the hospital to see him... And there was not much to see... The doctors are still fighting
for his life...
Why he did that? Dusko was not aware how his question was stupid, but it was maybe the only
question you could ask in that moment.
He was one of our officers who came back from the war... from Vukovar.
The name Vukovar itself was enough to explain everything. Military and paramilitary operations there
went off too much for any normal mind. I was lucky enough not to have any connection with those
operations, except through the reports of my colleague s journalists who were

Good and Bad Aspects of Floods
GOOD AND BAD ASPECTS OF FLOODS Flooding can be defined as occupancy by water in areas
that are normally dry. Flooding occur due to the effect of temporal level rise of rivers, lakes or other.
To some extent, flooding events can be controlled by man, depending on land use near the riverbeds.
The floods are mainly produced by the occurrence of prolonged heavy rain, such as during tropical
storms and hurricanes, coupled with local drainage difficulties caused by different causes, mainly by
the negligent action of people. But the floods have any positive aspect? Like most natural hazards,
floods can lead to loss of life and property damage, with great impact on public health that may take to
much time to recover. From 1980 2012, there were approximately 200 flood related events in the
world, in which 500,000 people, at least they died or were injured and 20 million lost their homes. In
terms of physical losses, floods are responsible for 40% of damage caused by natural disasters across
the property. According to its origin , floods are classified as rain floods, river floods and coastal
floods. Rainwater and river floods occur as a result of rainfall that occur when moisture in the seas ,
oceans and other large bodies of water , is transported to the land by the wind ; when ascending water
vapor and decrease its temperature , is presented in any of the following ways ; rain, snow or hail. The
process may arise due to the occurrence of hurricanes, normal wind ,

Persuasive Essay On The Use Of Technology
How do most people view the functions of the world? Is there a consensus on how certain things are
handled, or utilized? Today, there are new temptations, and functions that were nonexistent three
decades ago. Such as the advancements in technology, and communication, an unfair economy that
bounces up and down, and lastly, a government that plays a major role in the daily lives of Americans.
With this, I will create a utopia, that cancels out the negatives of these changes.
In the past decade, technology has drastically changed our daily lives. We are now able to
communicate with one another, regardless of the physical boundaries that surround us. However, these
advancements in technology, have caused new issues that did not previously exists. In my utopia, I
would not ban the usage of technology, but I would regulate how is it used. Today, there is Instagram,
Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat etc. These apps dominate the minds of daily Americans. With these apps,
people can communicate with one another, without directly pointing out a specific person. This could
be used as a positive tool but, in most cases it is used negatively. Such as, to bully or tear down others.
For example, on Instagram the pictures that get the most likes, are the ones who compare people to
one another. The caption is usually, Me VS you . Social media has created a perfect platform of falsity.
To correct this false hood, and forms of bullying, my utopia would create new apps, that strictly
regulate what is being posted. Technology would be used in its greatest, positive potential. Efficient
communication with others, would be its one and only offer. Citizens would still be able to post, and
access apps created for my utopia. Their time spent on the internet though, would be limited per day.
This would be to ensure face to face social skills, that would be required in my utopia.

The Peral by John Steinbeck
If a homeless man were to win a $1,000,000 lottery, how would he handle the circumstance? In The
Pearl, John Steinbeck depicts the story of Kino, a destitute Mexican Indian male who devotes his life
towards his wife and newborn son. He discovers a great pearl that seems to have the potential to
change his life for the better; however, Steinbeck shows how Kino s discovery of a great fortune can
lead to disaster. The pearl installs greed in Kino as he desires to improve his social status, and overall
creates an evil corruption that destroys his family. The pearl has three primary functions. It causes man
to become more impulsively animalistic, shows society s corruption; greediness; and jealousy, and
provides a false hope, an illusion that the pearl is infinitely valued, but in reality has no value at all.
The discovery of the great pearl influences Kino to be more animalistic. ...Kino s fist closed over the
pearl and his emotion broke over him. He put back his head and howled. His eyes rolled up and he
screamed and his body was rigid (Steinbeck 11). Kino s excitement of this discovery leads to his an
impulsive wolf like behavior, howling, which shows the power of the pearl in triggering man s
impulsiveness. The pearl also installs paranoia in Kino, as he fears others stealing his prized
possession. ...a wild fear surged in Kino s breast, and on the fear came rage...he sprang like an angry
cat, leaped striking and spitting for the dark thing he knew was in the corner of

  • 3. Homer Bad Man Analysis Modern society relies heavily on media, a form of mass communication, to inherit its values and beliefs on political and social issues occurring around the world. Two of the most common forms of communication in this field are current affairs programs and news broadcasts. Due to the mass production and high demand for news around the world, the images and stories presented to the public are often skewed, therefore sometimes misrepresenting the truth behind the stories being reported on. As media has become more commonplace in modern society, modern texts have explored this idea more frequently. The episode has the media depict Homer Simpson, the protagonist, as sexually harassing a younger woman when the audience can see that Homer was really trying to retrieve his precious gummy bear from the back of the woman s pants. When the woman retaliates to what she assumes is an act of harassment, the media begin to get involved and a fictitious news station called Rock Bottom asks to interview Homer to get his account of the story. The report begins with the woman portrayed as a university honours student who devoted her life to kids, (Daniels Lynch, 1994, 10:46) and Homer as a grossly overweight pervert. (Daniels Lynch, 1994, 10:49) When she is spoken about, the music is angelic and sweet which suddenly contrasts to the sinister non diagetic sound played when Homer is depicted. Later in the interview, Daniels and Lynch humorously show the blatant and obvious cuts in the interview by the clock in the background constantly switching back and forward in time, and Homer s words cutting from sweet and candy repeatedly. This mise en scene and use of cinematic techniques within the show, is used to portray how easy it is for the media to misrepresent the truth through film editing and other technological ... • 4. Sexual Orientation And Gender Identity As mainstream media is now embracing the once taboo topics of sexual orientation and gender identity as popular culture utilities, psychologists and medical professionals are still researching the biological, psychological, and social differences between the two. Since the phenomena of ¨coming out, or openly identifying as a sexual orientation or gender identity besides heterosexual or cisgender respectively, is a relatively recent anomaly, there is limited but contemporary research. The analyses done so far indicate a universal and clear consensus signaling the separation and unrelated nature of sexual orientation and gender identity. The American Psychological Association on their webpage defines sexual orientation as ...the sex of those to whom one is sexually and romantically attracted...research has suggested that sexual orientation does not always appear in such definable categories and instead occurs on a continuum. In addition, some research indicates that sexual orientation is fluid for some people. While in contrast, gender identity is defined as one s sense of oneself as male, female, or transgender. Milton Diamond attempted to separate the aspects of one s personality in his 2002 research paper entitled Sex and Gender are Different: Sexual Identity and Gender Identity are Different. Diamond asserts that in order to understand the distinction between gender and sexual identity, one must understand the distinction between gender and sex, two words commonly ... • 5. Give Four Reasons Why Jesus Became A Man Essay Throughout the universe, Jesus is unique. There is no other person like Him, for He is both God and man. This is what we teach the Bible. But why would Jesus want to become a man? What He did would be comparable to a rich man leaving his beautiful mansion and everything I had to become poor and live in misery. It would be like a great powerful king leaving to all those who respect and obey him to become detested and abhorred. But Jesus did all this, and even more. By his own will He left his divine position with God the Father. By the miracle of virgin birth prophesied by Isaiah, God came to dwell among men and be one of them. Lucas, the doctor, did an investigation of the facts, and wrote the following about the birth of Jesus: In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee, called Nazareth, a virgin espoused with a man that his name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the Mary s name was Mary. And entering the Angel where she was, said: Hail, very favored! The Lord is with you; blessed you between women. But she, when she saw him, was troubled by her words, and I thought what salutation this would be. Then the angel said to her: Mary, fear not, because you have found favor before God. And now, you will conceive in your womb, and you will give birth to a son, and you will call his name JESUS. This will be great, and he will be called Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give him the throne of David his father; and will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and His kingdom will have no end. Then Mary said to the angel: How will it be? • 6. The 4 Week Incidence, Timing And Predictors Of Ischemic... Background and purpose: To quantify the 4 week incidence, timing and predictors of ischemic stroke after trauma in a population based young cohort. Methods: We electronically identified trauma patients ( 30 days apart could be considered independent. As a secondary analysis, we calculated stroke incidence including all cases with a stroke ICD 9 code in order to provide a useful comparison with studies using ICD 9 stroke diagnoses for the outcome. For trauma patients who suffered a stroke, we graphically demonstrated time to stroke after trauma using Kaplan Meier failure curves, with trauma as the time of origin and stroke as the failure event, right censoring at death or four weeks after trauma. For the case control study, we used logistic regression to calculate odds ratios (OR) and 95% confidence intervals (CI) as an estimate of stroke risk. In order to determine whether stroke risk varied differentially by location of injury, we first examined each location individually. We then modeled the association between stroke and each injury location with adjustment for age, race, sex and multisystem trauma (given that the composite multisystem trauma variable does not specify injury location). Results: From a population of 34 million enrolled in KPNC over the 15 year study period, we identified 989,333 patients who had 1,308,009 emergency department encounters or admissions to the hospital for trauma. Patients contributed a median of one trauma encounter (interquartile range ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Two important components that are considered when analyzing respiratory motion patterns are phase and displacement. The beam is red at the target site depending on the phase or displacement windows chosen during the respiratory motion. Due to the gated technique, the overall treatment process takes longer when compared to the conventional methods of administering radiation therapy. The ratio between the gated beam delivery and the overall treatment time determines the eciency of the treatment called duty cycle. However, even after the gate has been optimized for a respiratory cycle, there exists minimal tumor motion called the residual motion Berbeco et al. (2005). To optimize the gateing technique that improves the therapeutic ecacy of radiation therapy and provides patient safety, a balance between the two (duty cycle and residual motion) needs to be met. The risk that other retailers take with trying to predict fashion trends a year in advance is eliminated for Zara. Due to the store s rapid restocks of new designs every two weeks, customers are introduced to the latest fashion trends. This is a trait that puts Zara above its competitors such as H M and Gap. Zara possesses a very wide ranging merchandise assortment sold in stores but produce a low quantity of garments so if an item does not sell as well as they had hoped, they wont lose as much revenue as there is not as much stock to be discounted. • 14. A Report On Vigna Unguiculata Introduction Vigna unguiculata is a common subtropic secondary crop utilized for sustenance amongst populations. Also referred to as the cowpea, this commodity holds great value in tropical Third World nations such as Nigeria since it serves as an inexpensive resource which provides protein and energy (Dauost, 1986). Therefore, it is essential that this crop remains prevalent in today s agricultural world. Unfortunately, Vigna unguiculata faces a large amount of predation from multiple species, one of which is the bean beetle Callosobruchus maculatus. This pest, along with others, leads to crop failure and a complete loss in the resource for potentially an entire agricultural season. Callosobruchus maculatus, a plant feeding insect, compromises the integrity of Vigna unguiculata populations by using either this plant or other dry bean species as a location to reproduce and lay eggs (Tuda, 2006). Numerous methods to combat this agricultural problem have been tested and observed. One study suggested artificially selecting certain Vigna unguiculata with key enzymes to hinder the growth of Callosobruchus maculatus eggs within the beans (Filho, 1991). However, a definite correlation has not been discovered and more studies are required. Other investigations utilized the implementation of various oils, which functioned as a natural pesticide against Callosobruchus maculatus. Research conducted by R. Throughout the poem there is other various references to life and things generally associated with life. In line 16 the lips of time leech to the fountain head , I think the phrase the fountain head is a metaphor for the womb and the lips of time phrase serves as a reminder that life is only temporary and the time in which life can be created by other living things is even shorter (e.g. women can only have children up to a certain age). Generally the poem focuses on both this similarity between man and the environment, and on one major difference humans have conscious self awareness plus the ability of language and speech. This emphasises the irony that although people are physically one with the universe, they are separated from it by intellectual consciousness. The poem consists of five stanzas. Each of the stanzas are made up of five lines (except the last, which has two lines). The 3rd line of each stanza is shorter than the two before and after it. I think DT has purposely done this to make you stop whilst reading the poem and pay attention to what has just been said. Also, each line of the poem is regular with the 4th line ... A lot of diseases such as smallpox, that were killers thousands of years ago are have become almost nonexistent all thanks to vaccines. Over the last a few years, there has been arguments and debates about how effective vaccines are. Vaccines contain weak viruses and when entering the body, the immune system identifies the foreign substances (antigens). Once the antigens are identified the immune system develops proteins called antibodies which are made of lymphocytes of B cells; the antibodies circle in the body and kill antigens. Memory cells then remember the antigens so that when exposed to the same antigens again, they ll kill them. Still, 160 years after the invention of the needle and syringe, they are still being used to deliver vaccines. On the podcast A needle free vaccine patch that s safer and way cheaper , Mark Kendall argues that it s time to advance. He states that even though vaccines are successful technology and have increased our life span, the needle and syringe have some shortcomings. These shortcoming are cross contaminations with needle, it could hold back next generation s vaccines in terms of immune response, and it could be responsible for the problem of cold chain. In order to fix these shortcomings, Mark Kendall and his team have come up with a solution called Nanopatch. The Nanopatch technology is made with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 20. Farewell To Manzanar Analysis These days most people don t realize that we need to accept what s happening in our lives and just look to the light at the end of the tunnel. Sean McCabe, web designer, lettering guru, and successful entrepreneur says, Endurance is the price tag to achievement. In Farewell to Manzanar we see a motif of endurance conveyed through the symbolic characteristics of stones. Jeanne Wakatsuki Houston was put into relocation camps along with about 110,000 just because they were of Japanese descent. However throughout the story of her journey in Manzanar we hear the Japanese saying, Shikata ga nai. Jeanne and many other people in the book say this, which roughly translates to, it cannot be helped. These people endured the imprisonment and injustice simply because they saw that it must be endured. The stone motif in the story screams out the idea that when faced with a challenge you must endure and let it sculpt you into the person you are. Throughout the book when the stone motif comes into play it has a strong connection to something a character experienced. This is first shown when Papa cries when he is playing the Greek 2 Japanese anthem. It brings back a memory of what the song means to him. It can be a man s life. (91) Jeanne said. ... • 28. Spanish Caste System Essay Through the racial caste system of the Spanish Colonial Era, it is known that the people of mixed race and dark skin of the time were viewed as inferior by the Spaniards. This inferiority complex was mainly due to one group of people oppressing another. The irony behind this instance is that it was the minority oppressing the majority. Another factor behind the success of the caste system was internalized oppression, or, in other words, one group of people oppressing themselves. Through accepting this perspective of thinking and contributing to the society that surrounded them, these mixed race people ended up adding fuel to the fire of their oppression. According to Martha Menchaca, author of Recovering History, Reconstructing Race, self oppression came because of the vacancy of leadership positions in New Spain. At the core, this vacancy gave those who were not pure Spaniards the opportunity to achieve a greater sense of social acceptance. In her book, Menchaca states that while these people of color did, to an extent, succeed in improving their quality of life, the tyrannical narrative was never really changed. Furthermore, it was this search for a better life that created the foundation for what is now Mexico today. People of color were oppressed from the very beginning of the colonial movement. The caste system that the Spaniards created used race as the foundation for justifying subjugation. Through the caste system, one could see that people with lighter skin and ... Today, there are new temptations, and functions that were nonexistent three decades ago. Technology would be used in its greatest, positive potential. Efficient communication with others, would be its one and only offer. Citizens would still be able to post, and access apps created for my utopia. Their time spent on the internet though, would be limited per day. This would be to ensure face to face social skills, that would be required in my utopia. Today s economy has re established the modern day classes.
