The Civil Service Reform ( Csr )
1.0 Introduction/ Background
Improvement, change and innovation are almost constant, as the service environment remains
dynamic in tune to the trend of the society. Civil service reform (CSR) is one of the most intractable
yet important challenges for governments and their supporters today. However, CSR might have failed
in some states; this is not to say the process is not pertinent as governments and their supporters today
seize opportunities availed by the reformation. To buttress this fact, Sarah (2012) posited reformation
as a tool touches not only on government s very purpose of existence, but also on some of its most
sensitive, protected areas.
Authors like Sarah (2012), Antwi, Analoui and Nana Agyekum (2008) subscribed to the assertion that
civil service is the backbone of the state, supporting or undermining the entire system of governance.
This system of governance is however open to notable modifications termed reforms, since
administrative heads change, and every administrator has his/her style. In this context, Evans, (2008)
cited in Sarah (2012), traced the account of CSR and broke it into three phases. The first phase took
place in the 1980s. This period was characterized largely by donors supporting various aspects of
institutional development realizing the civil service s crucial role in changing policy. After the collapse
of Communism and the failure of many of the aid programmes of the aforementioned phase, the 1990s
saw a growing consensus that the

Advantages of an Internship Program
Internship Narrative
My planned internship will be with Delaware North Company in their (Milwaukee) Sportservice
division at Miller Park in the Majestic Team Store. I will be working under the direction of _______,
who is the Retail Assistant Manager. This internship will fit well into my professional career
objectives, is appropriate for my education, and will expand my knowledge in business operations. My
career goal is to become a general manager in some area in hospitality. I have always been interested
in a career that is mainly interpersonal and social, not sitting in a cubicle crunching numbers all day.
Rather being out on the floor talking and meeting people. This position will give some insight to
management in the service ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This internship will be a great way for me to test and experiment with pattern C and see how effective
it can be. At the beginning of each shift we have a team meeting in each store. I plan on having each
person contribute something in these meetings that might need more attention or could be changed.
In leadership and management, we would mainly discuss what leadership styles there were, referring
to the behavioral patterns that a person portrays when that person is trying to lead. The two main
portrayals were task oriented leaders and person oriented leaders. Most effective leaders would have
both skills. I want to become one of those leaders. One who determines what has to be done and how
to go about doing tasks effectively as a task oriented leader. As well as one who will also suggest ways
of accomplishing the task at hand, but also will encourage others to determine how. We also discussed
how to prepare for such leadership in the six steps suggested and researched by Fred Fiedler (1967):
be knowledgeable about the particular tasks, develop mental models for managing meaning, work
harder than anyone else, be personally committed to group goals and needs, be willing to be decisive,
and develop people skills as well as task skills. In order to be an effective supervisor, I will need to
work hard at becoming more knowledgeable about the store and its surroundings, the RetailPro
program we use, and how to open and close down a store. I will

Smoke free places
Smoking is illegal on public transport and in the following public places: healthcare facilities,
educational facilities, and places of worship. In other types of public places and in workplaces,
designated smoking areas must be provided. With respect to outdoor places, children s playgrounds
must be smoke free. The realization of smoke free places and smoking restricted places, however,
requires passage of laws by local governments. The national law does not set a limit by which local
governments must act, so some local governments have passed smoke free legislation while others
have not. Sub national jurisdictions may pass smoke free

Saint Meinrad Report
Since its beginning, Saint Meinrad has never been content with living merely for itself. History shows
how in the past the Abbey has spent itself generously at times beyond it strength in the school, in
ordinary and extraordinary pastoral work, and in the Indian mission field . (Kleber 511).The first

Descriptive Essay On Having A Dog
Dogs become vital to you, they are something you wouldn t ever give up. My dog, Carly has taught
me so many life lessons, even when she can t even talk. Likewise, She has taught to be a kind,
positive, selfless human being. Yes, having a dog may be challenging, stressful work, but in the end, it
s all worth it. Ever since I was a little girl I have always wanted a dog. When I was about three, my
cousins unexpectedly lost their chocolate lab, Bailey. I don t remember Bailey, but I do remember
when they brought home a yellow lab puppy named Tess. The moment I laid eyes on Tess, it sparked
something inside me and from that point on, I had a desire to one day have my own dog. I included a
dog on my Christmas and birthday lists for five years, but every year I was left with disappointment.
Nevertheless, my parents were warming up to the idea of having a dog, evaluating different breeds to
try and find a fit for our family. Eventually, my parents took us to look at dogs, but none of them
seemed to suit our needs. It was late afternoon on an enjoyable, mild June day at the baseball field. As
we commenced our journey home I realized we were headed in the wrong direction.
Where are we going? I asked, looking at my parents in confusion.
We are going to look at some puppies, Mom explained excitedly.
Realization dawned on me. We were getting a puppy! What kind of dog are we going to look at? I
questioned with excitement.
A cockapoo, stated Mom anxiously.

The Johnny Cash Project
Success in this case was not about the economic value of profits but rather in its large participation
and engagement levels of the fans on an innovative level. As argued by Hawkes (2001, 3) A
sustainable society depends upon a sustainable culture. If a society s culture disintegrates, so will
everything else. Cultural action is required in order to lay the groundwork for a sustainable future.
Sustainability across social and cultural bottom lines both proved to be an essential part of this project
s entrepreneurial success.

(Dyer et al. 2008). The Johnny Cash Project has a diversity of networks in regard to stakeholders, but
it could have been emphasised even more so. An example of a project that showed this large diversity
of networks was the web based crowdsourced project The Exquisite Forest. This project was also run
by Chris Milk and Aaron Koblin in 2012. As revealed by Google s Youtube video (2012), they
collaborated with Tate Modern s artist team and Google s Chrome browser, app engine and features
such as Canvas, Javascript, Web and Audio API, creating a very large diverse network that was very
new in its convergence of technologies to create an opportunity for people to group in a new sort of
collaboration. A problem that was presented with The Johnny Cash Project was that it had a very small
group of people that had to produce a lot of work. As The Exquisite Forest team involved a larger
group of stakeholders, the work load was distributed more evenly so that team members could escape
working tirelessly and rather share the workload in a collaborative

Love To Love In William Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet
Fate (Feyt) Noun: something that unavoidably befalls a person; fortune; lot. William Shakespeare s
Romeo and Juliet has many themes that occur throughout the entire play. There s many themes from
fate to love to hatred among people. I ll be discussing the fate of Romeo and Juliet in William
Shakespeare s play. In the beginning of the play it says a pair of star cross d lovers take their life so
imminently we know the fate of Romeo and Juliet. In Act 1, Scene 2 Romeo and Benvolio go to the
Capulets house and completely by chance Romeo meets one of the Capulets servants who needs help
reading the guest list. Romeo claims it s his fortune to read. The servant then invites Romeo into the
house as long as he isn t a Montague. As fate would have it Romeo denies being a Montague and joys
in on the fun where he meets Juliet. Act 2, Scene 1 Romeo doesn t want to go home he decides to find
Juliet. The balcony scene...Romeo compares Juliet to the morning sun, far more beautiful that the
moon. In Act 3, Scene 1 Mercutio had be mortally wounded, Benvolio informs Romeo that Mercutio
has died and Romeo responds with This day s black fate on more days doth depend; This but begins
the woe others must end. Act 3, Scene 2, Romeo said he would avenge the death of Mercutio so he did
so by killing Tybalt. Since Romeo and Juliet s love is all about fate taking control, Romeo was
banished. Act 3, Scene 3, Romeo was hiding in Friar Laurence s cell when he heard he had been
banished. Romeo spends the night with Juliet but has to leave before dawn to flee Verona for Mantua.
Act 3, Scene 4, Capulet, Lady Capulet, and Paris have been discussing Juliet and the tragedy of Tybalt
s death. The Capulets want Paris to marry Juliet Thursday, but as fate would have it Juliet s already
married to Romeo but they don t that. Act 4, Scene 1, Paris is talking with Father Laurence to prepare
for the wedding Thursday. Friar Laurence doesn t agree with any of it he says it s happening to fast but
he know Juliet is already married but can t say a word yet. Friar Laurence comes up with a plan that
he thinks will work so her and Romeo can be together. He gives Juliet a potion that will make her
sleep a deep sleep for forty two hours. It ll

Something that you will never forget. It s something that makes you who you are whether it is good or
bad to makes you special. I know it s hard to believe that one event could change your whole life but I
promise you it can. A major life changing event happened to me on July 20th, 2011. This is the day
that my youngest sister Carly was born. On this day my whole life was changed and it will never be
the same again. July 20th I said good bye to my old self and started taking steps to become the person
that I am today. My whole story started the day my mother told me that I was going to have another
sibling. The day that my mother told me was a day that changed my life forever. I was in shock and I
couldn t believe I was going to be a big sister again. There was so many emotions going through my
mind. I didn t know how to react to the news. The main emotion I was feeling was anger, I wasn t
happy about having another sibling. But the closer it got to Carly s do date my emotions started to
change and I became very excite and looking forward to this new chapter of my life. I was ready to

Film, Born Into Brothels
In the film, Born into Brothels (2004), British filmmakers Zana Briski and Ross Kauffman setout to
present a perspective from the children of sex workers living in Red Light District of Sonagachi,
Calcutta. This film, however incidental, demonstrate single narratives on the basis of morality,
sexuality, and preconceived notions about the third world. Their attempt at filming an impartial
ethnographic film that spoke of the true nature of life as a child in the Red Light District of Calcutta
failed from their Western gaze and lack of insight about the community of Sonagachi to contextualize
how the Red Light District and the poverty surrounding are a result of globalization. Acknowledging
the before that Briski and Kauffman could never understand about the Red Light District because of
their limited Western understanding about the third world, would ve resulted in a more inclusive look
into the subjective perspectives of the children. Instead, using footage and still pictures of the dirty
allies, children covered in what seems to be oil, naked children chained like animals in a zoo, etc, as
an aesthetic (lens) used to reproduce hegemonic narratives about the third world and objectively
reflect reality. Additionally, these shots separate the people of the Red Light District from Westerners
and establishes and us and a them , them being objects and not full established subjects. Starting from
the film s cover, one can already know what the film entails. The cover has

Inner Beauty in H. Rider Haggard s Novel, She Essay
In H. Rider Haggard s novel She, two men go in search of an immortal queen with whom they both
fall in love. The men, Holly and Leo, are opposites in nearly every way; one is intelligent but
physically repulsive, the other handsome but rather slow and boring. From the beginning, they are
nicknamed Beauty and the Beast, and like Beauty and the Beast, Leo is admired by those around him
while Holly is rejected and isolated.
Between them is Ayesha, or She who must be obeyed: beautiful but dangerous, intelligent and devoted
but destructive, all powerful but isolated by her power. Although She falls desperately in love with
Leo, it is clear that her strongest bond, one of mutual understanding, respect, and love, is with Holly.

At a time not long after Darwin published his theory of evolution, when it was (as it still is) a source
of much debate and controversy, Holly s apelike appearance represents an even greater strike against
him than mere ugliness. It implies primitiveness, and causes those around him to view him not just as
an inferior human, but as an animal. He is, to them, truly a Beast.
Perhaps the most important aspect of Holly s ugliness is not its mere presence, but the isolation it
causes. He is treated as an animal by much of society, and as a result he harbors much bitterness
towards the human race. He is especially bitter towards women, which is understandable given that
nearly all women shunned him, and the only woman he ever loved rejected him. If I am Beauty, who
are you? she said while showing him their reflection in the mirror. (8) This insult haunts him all of his
life, and causes him to be extremely misogynistic until he meets Ayesha.
Leo Vincey is Holly s adopted son, and the man with whom Ayesha falls in love. Recalling the day
that he met five year old Leo, Holly says, I do not think I ever saw such a perfect child before or since
(19). Leo is handsome and popular, and because of his good looks Holly must constantly battle to
keep the women away from him. But Leo s appearance is more than simply handsome: it is almost
godlike. Holly s description of him as a statue of the youthful Apollo hints at his Greek ancestry, and

David Wesley s Five Healthy Patterns
The argument/thesis/main idea of the book David Wesley s main idea is a set of best practices, or what
he terms healthy patterns, in congregational mission partnerships. Wesley observes that in the
emerging third way of missions that began at the end of the 20th century and is coming into its own in
the early 21st century is focusing on congregational partnerships. As such, Wesley seeks to lay out
common patterns for healthy global partnerships observed in these congregational partnerships.
Consequently, Wesley presents five healthy patterns around which common mission can flourish.

A pattern of reciprocity is a partnership that includes mutually reinforcing activities that allow each

relationship model that describes a synthesis of the donor and recipient into something greater than the
sum of its parts. This is the pinnacle of congregational partnerships where reciprocity becomes the
very nature of the relationship and challenges the approaches traditionally taken by denominations and

Can A Witness Be Made To Judge Essay
Can A Witness Be Made To Testify In Your Court Case?
Having a witness on your side could be the key to helping you win your court case. The problem is
that the witness could refuse to go to court to help you out. Your lawyer can try to compel the witness
to testify on your behalf, but there are some situations that can excuse the witness from doing so.
Why A Witness Can Choose Not To Testify
Calling on a witness in court involves issuing that person a subpoena. It requires them to show up to
court with a possible criminal and civil penalty if they decide not to. Once they are in court, the
witness can request that they are excused from giving a testimony.
Testimony That Is Self Incriminating
It s possible that the testimony would be self incriminating, which would result in them being charged
with a crime if they testified for you. The witness has the right to be excused thanks to the protections

accurately. This could include a small child that is not fully aware of the situation, or a person that has

Testimony From Someone With Diplomatic Immunity
While someone with diplomatic immunity can testify if they choose to, they also have protection that
can allow them to not testify.
Anybody who does not fall into these categories will need to show up to court to testify.
How A Witness Can Be Convinced To Testify

Narcissism Research Paper
Introduction In this current society, an increasing number of people discuss one controversial debate
everywhere: Are younger adults more narcissistic than previous people? In fact, when people select
one side of this debate, they are supposed to know two essential questions: what is truly meaning
about narcissism? How does this debate originate from? In general, Narcissism, originated from the
Greek mythology, is used to describe the action or habit of someone s self complacence. Surprisingly,
it has a totally different explanation in psychology. As Jean M. Twenge (2006) mentioned in her article
named On Army of one: Me, Narcissism is one of the few personality traits that psychologists agree is
almost completely negative. Narcissists are overly focused on themselves and lack empathy for others,
which means they cannot see another person s perspective (para. 22). In other words, narcissistic
people, in åa psychological view, are self centered and grim rather than obsessed with self. Therefore,
this topic actually asks people that is the younger generation grimmer and more self centered than old

narcissistic words and did some cold blooded actions, like making a shooting noise , said Isn t it fun to

Heterogeneous Ribonucleic Proteins ( Hnrnps )
Heterogeneous ribonucleic proteins (HNRNPs) are a family of RNA binding proteins that play a key
role in various metabolic functions of RNA. There are roughly twenty major hnRNPs which are
readily found in large quantities in the nucleus and in some cases in the cytoplasm. hnRNPs are
expressed throughout all tissues at different levels depending on the hnRNP (Kamma et al. 1994).
hnRNP metabolic roles include polyadanilation, shuttling mRNA out of the nuclear envelope,
telomere biogenesis and localization. (Dreyfuss et al. 2002). In particular, hnRNP A1 can acts an an
antagonist to the SF2/ASF protein, which allows A1 to inhibitor exon splicing and cytoplasm bound
transport of mRNA. An example of localization is hnRNP A2, which confers the dendritic mRNA
transport of various transcripts when induced by neuronal activity (Muslimov et al. 2002).
Role of hnRNP A2/B1
Brain plasticity and learning such as BDNF driven long term synaptic potentiation rely partly on the
shuttling and translation of dendritic mRNAs. Large messenger RNA binding proteins such as hnRNP
A2/B1 carry inactive dendrite bound mRNA via the microtubule cytoskeleton where they will be
translated when they are activated at the synapse (Leal et al. 2014). Brain derived neurotropic factor
(BDNF) and increased neuronal activity has shown to regulate the distribution of A2/B1. Particularly
an increase in BDNF rises the tendency of cytoplasmic and and dendritic localization. Some key
protein transcripts carried by

The Importance Of Single Parenting
For my reading pleasure, I was able to read Help! I am Raising My Children Alone by
T. D. Jakes concerning single parenting (Jakes, 2011). This book was written as a practical guide with
the intentions to help single parents overcome the obstacles of single parenting and discover the
hidden treasure that lies beneath the struggle. T. D. Jakes is a bishop, therefore there is a copious
amount of faith and biblical scripture woven into his writing, however he does maintain practicality as
well. Jakes (2011) encourage single parents to not give up, despite their circumstance. He also equips
the single parents with thought provoking questions at the end of each chapter for reflecting, and
activities to do with their families that will be beneficial to the growth and stability of each family.
I would like to begin with a quote. Jakes (2011) states I raise my bow. Even if I am shot, I will raise
my bow. I will lift it above my past, my pain, and my fears (p. 200). These arrows; my children, are
my defense. I believe that this is a powerful statement to abide by to counteract the negative stigma
that often comes with single parenting. Many single parents+ usually see their mistakes and feel
guilty, struggle with past hurts, and may feel at a loss when it comes to raising their kids. However,
Jakes encourages single parents to aim their bow high so that their children may soar. Single parents
seeing their children soar to become great people in society gives purpose and meaning

Morality, Law, and Politics Essay
I can imagine a perfect world. A world where morality is of upmost importance in our dealings with
each other, where morals are critically examined, and debated with reason as well as passion. This
world would be a pinnacle of human achievement. A pinnacle that we are nowhere near. Why is this?
Well, in today s society, morals are often associated with obeying the law, and since laws are legislated
by politicians, they are subject to politics. Laws are not right in and of themselves, and morals are not
a matter of a majority s opinion. Some matters that are in the domain of charity are done through
politics, often citing morality as a reason. Where exactly does charity fit in with morals? With politics?
In this paper I will explore the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These should be the only rules that may overrule a person s actions, for the more restricted a person s
action becomes, the less likely it is that they ll submit to those restrictions. The reason morals may
overrule a person s actions because these rules are justified. Without justification, there is no reason at
all for people to obey the rules, for in their eyes, the rules would be arbitrary, and thus would lack any
sort of authority over people.
Many people ask why morals should be able to prevail over people s desires. This is a valid question,
one that must be answered if morals are to be defended. Morals must not only be reasonable for
people to follow, but they must also have good reasons for people to follow them, otherwise people
would not bother adhering to them. These reasons should motivate people to follow these rules. They
must appeal to their perceived interests, but if these rules are to apply to all people, they cannot serve
the interests of just a few people. Moral rules are not for imposing your own values and tastes on other
people! As Narveson puts it, [w]hat matters for morals is that its rules are individually reasonable for
people to accept and to follow, so long as others do too (MM, 16).
Every nation today has laws, instituted by the ruling class (throughout this essay, when I mention laws
I am referring to legal laws, not moral laws). The

Isolation In The Tempest
How your story is thematically linked to The Tempest?
For my English ISP, I will be rewriting scene I act I to act I scene II line 230, from a Shakespeare
written theme, converted into a star wars and more futuristic based theme. In the Shakespearean
comedy/ romance, The Tempest is a story which frequently hints many examples of the theme of
isolation, through the setting of the play. Firstly, the island is probably the biggest example of isolation
where the Protagonist: Prospero and Miranda become stranded on an island after being usurped by
Antonio: Prospero s brother. This is where aspects of star wars also suggest a similar vison of The
Tempest. Following on the concept of isolation, Star wars consist where characters are trapped a

Thematically, The Tempest also embodies all romance, destruction and many examples of power
struggle. Through the setting of the play, I found that the Tempest had been plotted specifically
through a historically significant era when Europe began to explore the New World. Personally, I
found that Shakespeare tried to incorporate all these elements to contribute in the finalizing and
completing the play, yet I believed that some elements were not used to its fullest potential which
resulted in a lesser impact of what Shakespeare would have hoped. Firstly, one the most frustrating
issues I had with the play, was the lack of development of the characters. Due to the entirely and
having it set all in one day, many of the character were not quite developed enough. Personally,
characters such as Alonso, Antonio, Trinculo and Stephano lacked development which resulted in
ambiguity and made the play ultimately less enjoyable. Above all, this also made the audience often
having to interpret personalities of characters based on the limited actions and dialogue that is
presented. In my revision, to improve this element of the play, I will be sure to develop the characters
more thoroughly which ultimately means including

Shall the Fundamentals Win by Harry Emerson Fosdick
Perhaps the most powerful, fluent, and forceful paper promoting liberal Christianity is indeed Harry
Emerson Fosdick s 1922 sermon Shall the Fundamentalists Win? . Fosdick seemed as if he was a very
captivating human being in history during his time of existence. He wrote one of the most engaging
papers that I have yet to read thus this far. It was definitely a wise decision to go ahead and read the
two articles discussing fundamentalism to catch me up so that I did not have trouble keeping up with
Fosdick s movement that he established in his sermon. Initially, I believe that the arising church is,
amongst other things, is a rectifying of liberalism for a postmodern age. And I m convinced that the
same claims made by Fosdick in 1922 are just what we hear form emergents today. There is nothing
new that lies under the sun today. It is only natural that the specifics argued for by the modernists are
not those of the postmodern emergents. I m dumbfounded that Fosdick s opening strategy is to
compare and contrast fundamentalist with the evangelical churches . Fortunately, Fosdick was writing
during a time in period when liberals were actually pleased with living up to their name. He does
however accidentally refer to liberalism within the body of his sermon but his opening comparison is
between fundamentalist and the evangelical churches , even before he introduces the reader to liberal
opinions . Little had I realized that his foundation to his strategy to camouflage

The Revolving Door

¬¬¬¬¬The Effects of the Revolving Door
For five years, Mr. Larry Lavender served as the chief of staff for Representative Spencer Bachus on
the House Financial Services Committee. In 2012, Lavender was recruited by a law firm representing
JPMorgan, a banking and financial institution, and left the committee. Although this move disbanded
his professional link to Bachus, the two still maintained a personal relationship, and Lavender also
communicated with former colleagues without seeking any official favors or actions (Revolving
Door). Because of the relationship between Lavender and Bachus and through efforts made behind the
scenes, JPMorgan avoided testifying against one of their clients in the House of Representatives. This
sequence of events illustrates what is referred to as the revolving door , which is a system that shuffles
former federal employees into jobs as lobbyists, consultants and strategists . In this system, former
public office holders become lobbyists because they already have relationships with people they have
worked with or for in the past. Within the practice, there has been evidence of corruption through the
manipulation of bans and the undermining use of professional interactions. The spinning of the
revolving door prompts government officials to make laws that reflect the preferences of industry
lobbies rather than the will of the people As the revolving door continues to spin more

Risk Management through Derivatives in India
Evolution:
With the globalization of trade and free movement of financial assets, risk management through
derivatives became a necessity in India. In the early nineties in India the economic liberalization
provided the economic rationale for the introduction of forex derivatives. Many business houses
actively approached foreign markets not only with their products but also as a source of capital and
direct investment opportunities. In 1993 there was limited convertibility on the trade account so the
environment became more conducive for the introduction of these hedge products. The development
in the forex derivative market was carried parallel along with the steps taken to reform the Indian
financial market. In 1992 FII s were allowed to invest in Indian equity and debt markets and in the
following year foreign brokerage firms were allowed to operate in India. NRIs (non resident Indians)
and OCBs (Overseas Corporate Bodies) were allowed to hold together around 24% of the paid up
capital of the Indian companies and it was further raised to 40% in 1998. The Indian companies were
encouraged to issue ADRs/GDRs in 1992 to raise foreign equity. An Indian entity was allowed to
make investments in overseas joint ventures and wholly owned subsidiaries to a limit of US$ 100
million during one financial year. Investments in Nepal and Bhutan were allowed to a limit of INR 3.5
billion in one financial year. Companies located in Special Economic Zones can invest out of their

Transgendered people are equal under the 14th Amendment. The 14th Amendment, section 1 states:
No state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of

Clean water should always be available at all time. Horses will die within two to three days if they do

only is proper nutrition necessary to fight illness, but it helps to build muscle and provide warmth.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Nootropics
Attention Deficit Disorder is diagnosed two ways: with or without hyperactivity. The inclusion of
hyperactivity is what makes the difference between a diagnosis of ADD or ADHD. With children
between the ages of 6 and 12 being the most commonly diagnosed ages, it has also been known to
continue as they get older. With school aged children being affected the most, it can become severely
difficult for the student and teacher to work out a solution. Sure, the children can be given the
commonly prescribed medications, but they don t get excluded from possible dependency or
addiction. When it comes to prescribing medications for ADHD, physicians are more apt to stick to
the type that they know will work and these are Adderall and Ritalin. Although these two drugs work
for ADHD, many people today are starting to explore options that involve the use of alternatives that
pose no adverse reactions or long term effects. To help assist the many people affected by this disorder

Heat Waste Of Lightbulbs Lab Report
Heat Waste of Common Lightbulbs
Introduction
The purpose of my experiment was to see how much energy was wasted in different types and
wattages of lightbulbs through the output of heat. The initial objective of the project was to research
the variety of lightbulbs available on the market today including their wattage and other important
features pertaining to their operation before starting the experiment. The reports provided information
that first helped me to formulate a plan to calculate heat energy, measured in calories. I was then able
to subsequently convert the heat energy into joules which is a more commonly used unit of energy.
This was accomplished by multiplying the amount of calories produced through ... Show more content

The data also shows that CFL bulbs were a very close second in the amount of wasted heat energy per
watt.. This was expected because the CFL bulbs, like the LEDs, do not need to heat up something to
cast light. The results of this experiment can be used in many different practical situations. For
instance, when setting up a light source near something that could easily catch on fire, it would not be
a good idea to use one of the bulbs that give off a lot of heat energy. Also, if you want to use the most
efficient bulb, you should consider the one that turns most of the energy it uses into light energy like

Gender Differences in Trifles Essay
Trifles by Susan Glaspell is a play that is largely based on stereotypes. The most prevalent one is the
inferiority of women over men, though the play also explores the differences between genders in
general. First of all, Glaspell largely examines the repression of women in the 1900s. Women were
highly looked down upon by men, and were seen mostly as housekeepers and child bearers, and were
definitely not seen as intelligent people. The women in this play prove that the stereotypes against
them are completely wrong. The men in this story are sent out to discover the details of a murder,
while the women come along to gather some things for Mrs. Wright, who was accused of killing her
husband. Throughout the play, the men mock the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The gender differences in the play are obvious and important to the story. The men in this play exhibit
some traditional stereotypes of men during the time period, such that they were aggressive and self
centered. The women seem to be more cautious, intuitive and sensitive. These traits allow the women
to come a lot closer to figuring out the murder than the men do. At one point in the play the women
find a quilt that Mrs. Wright had been working on. Mrs. Hale asks Mrs. Peters, I wonder if she was
goin to quilt it or just knot it? (658). Just then the sheriff comes down the stairs and once again
ridicules the women for worrying about such little things. They wonder if she was going to quilt it or

ladies find out later. They realize that she was extremely nervous about something while she was

better fit in academic area. Hence, I decided to follow my graduate study in Ph.D. level and
accordingly apply for a faculty position. As a result of this definite decision, I even turn down the job
offer of Mercedes Benz Company for battery localization project in Beijing. As mention above, my
initial interest was in the application of mathematic. This interest began to incline toward economic

The Legend About The Vampires And Their Secret Life
The legend about the vampires and their secret life is one that keeps on frightening and
captivate the audience around the world. The thought of an undead night stalker that nourishes
on human blood has been around for quite a long time and perseveres right up till modern days.
The image of the immortal creature has perfectly fitted into the modern popular culture. Various
nations and societies over the globe have individual deviations of a comparative folkloric
substance. Regardless of the variety, all vampire stories have a key shared characteristic the
desire for human blood and immortality. It was not until the late XIX century that an Irish writer
agreed an expansiveness of learning on such folkloric stories and devised the character that now
goes about as the format for the vampire myth. Bram Stoker s Dracula was initially distributed in
1897 and starting now and into the foreseeable future the author s title character set the point of
reference for every single anecdotal vampire. Vampire fiction, in any case, keeps on developing
and enrapture in spite of the way that it draws from a limitless folkloric and scholarly past.
Humankind has dependably been intrigued with the charm of immortality and albeit initially
vampires were not an image of this, as time passed and society changed so did the thoughts and
discernments encompassing them.
The human interest with vampires has been a noticeable swaying topic in popular culture.

Morality and God
Can a person be moral and not believe in God
Name
PHI 103 Informal Logic
Instructor
Date of Submission
Morality only exists if we believe in God; therefore if God doesn t exist there is no morality. There
have been so many evil acts committed in the name of God that it is difficult to maintain that a belief
in God equates to morality. There are situations that happen every day where decisions are made based
off of human rights that contradict the word of God. Morality comes from within, it is an
understanding of right versus wrong and the ability to choose what is right. Knowing all this a belief
in God is not a requirement for a person to be moral. (Mosser, 2011)
We are taught that morals are basically the difference between ... Show more content on

If you do not fear the wrath of God, there is nothing to stop you from committing immoral acts, or any
crimes for that matter. Any situation can be overlooked because there is no fear of punishment without
a fear of God. Only a person with a firm belief in God can be considered moral because they fear His
punishment and desire his reward. God is the only person great enough to enforce moral standards,
without his guidance there can be no binding morals. Moral standards come from God and without
Him a person cannot be moral.
When we talk in absolutes we ignore possibilities that exist outside of our beliefs. There are many
examples of individuals that believed in God who acted immorally, as well as examples of people who
do not believe in God acting with good morals. Their beliefs do not determine their morality, their acts
do. If we are to base morality solely on a belief in God then which believer do we follow? Do we
follow the believer who commits crimes, or only the believer who is an upstanding member of
society?
Adolf Hitler was raised as a Catholic, and in his adult life spoke of his religious beliefs. He wanted to
create a pure Germany, through a religion known as positive Christianity. Positive Christianity
removed the Jewish elements from the standard Christianity doctrine and replaced them with Nazi
philosophy. More than six million Jewish people were killed during the Holocaust in the ideal of
positive Christianity. Bill Gates is

The Theory Of Developmental Psychology
Developmental psychology is viewed as different approaches which aims to look at how children and
adults develop. Theories such as Bowlby s attachment theory can explain how a child s development
can be altered by their attachment, thus leading to the ideology of the nature vs nurture debate, nature
referring to the process of biological maturation while nurture is referring to the impact of the
environment or surroundings, which involves the idea that a person learns through experiences.
(McLeod, S. A, 2012)
The Psychodynamic approach was developed by Freud who stated that we have the conscious,
preconscious and unconscious mind. Erikson agreed with Freud about this area of development but his
main concern was that of the social side ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Monotropy acts like a framework through the internal working model. Bowlby stated that infants are
born with innate social releasers which encourage the caregiver to provide care. Furthermore this
primary attachment needs to happen during a time called the critical period (Holmes, 1993). This is
supported by Lorenz (1935) who took a large clutch of goose eggs and kept them until they were
about to hatch out. Half of the eggs were then placed under a goose mother, while Lorenz kept the
other half beside himself for several hours. Lorenz found that geese follow the first moving object
they see, during a 12 17 hours critical period after hatching. This process is known as imprinting.
However, there are flaws in this evolutionary theory, which is Schaffer and Emerson s research of 60
infants in Glasgow concluded that all infants made a primary attachment, this supports Bowlby s
assumption of monotropy. However they also found that infants made multiple attachments which
undermine this. (A2 Psychology 101, 2014)
Another principle of the attachment theory is the need to develop social, cognitive and emotional
skills. To relate this to the attachment theory, the child would of had a primary caregiver who
reinforced social, cognitive and emotional development, if a child was not being stimulated
accordingly bowlby s theory of maternal deprivation this would result in long term cognitive, social,
and emotional difficulties. This is supported by

Older Workers Persuasive Speech
Attention Getter: Our economy keep changing as fast as the speed of a roller coaster. Therefore, many
people including employers assume that workers over 45 are less productivities because younger
workers will keep up with rapid economic development better. This assumption can be against anyone
of us in the future because some of us will join the group of older workers someday.
Topic Revelation: I am Uyen Nguyen, today I will convince you to support employment protection for
older workers.
Credibility Statement: In 2013, the U.S. Department of Labor announces that one third of total U.S.
workforce is 50 years or older and predict that in 2050, the group of 65 years or older is expected to
grow by 75 percent.

25 percent of them never found another job after being laid off. 5.4 million older Americans are ready
to work but can not find a job. 86 percent of older workers opposed to mandatory retirement at a fixed
age. less than 30 percent of older adults receive private pension income.
III. Cause As I just mentioned about the retirement plan. I want to talk more about it because the good
purpose of retirement plans unintentionally becomes the cause of age discrimination in our society.
In the book Old and Obsolete: Age Discrimination and the American Worker published in 1989, the
prejudice against older workers in the workplace did not exist before having retirement plans. Before
the 20th century, older workers, along with all others, were expected to remain economically and
socially useful as long as they were physically able to do so
Then, retirement system begin in 1921 to support workers who are over 65 and work for a certain
number of years since their lifespan was rarely over 65, and most of them had to do heavy work

Criticism Of Snow White
If the mirror is interpreted as the symbol of a husband, it might explain the literal absence of the King
in the story (Barzilai, 1990). It is possible that the Queen is fighting for the attention of her husband.
The growth of Snow White to become a more beautiful female than her mother means the end of an
era for the Queen. She is no longer a youthful lady, but a mother of a grown up daughter. It is very
common in patriarchal societies to view woman as mothers after a certain age. Giving birth resonates
with a distorted body image. Mothers carry the marks of birth giving and breastfeeding on their
bodies. They transform from a state of seductiveness to a mother. Their role is reduced to a domestic
caretaker for the children. It represents ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When we apply this view to the story of Snow White, we can see how Queen is made to be an evil
female character. Before Snow White was born, the Queen did not have diabolic characteristics in the
text. She was a woman peacefully dreaming about having a beautiful daughter. She did not gain the
evil features attributed to her until after Snow White came to a certain age. At that point, Snow White
was declared as the new beauty by the mirror. In other words, patriarchal forces placed her crown on
her daughter. On the other hand, Gilbert and Gubar s view that the monster and the angel might be in
the same body, mean that the Queen and Snow White are one and the same personality. It might be
interpreted that the patriarchal system breaks them apart instead of letting them live in harmony in the
same house. When the whole breaks apart, one of them takes the monstrous side and the other one
takes the angelic side forming a binary

  • 2. The Civil Service Reform ( Csr ) 1.0 Introduction/ Background Improvement, change and innovation are almost constant, as the service environment remains dynamic in tune to the trend of the society. Civil service reform (CSR) is one of the most intractable yet important challenges for governments and their supporters today. However, CSR might have failed in some states; this is not to say the process is not pertinent as governments and their supporters today seize opportunities availed by the reformation. To buttress this fact, Sarah (2012) posited reformation as a tool touches not only on government s very purpose of existence, but also on some of its most sensitive, protected areas. Authors like Sarah (2012), Antwi, Analoui and Nana Agyekum (2008) subscribed to the assertion that civil service is the backbone of the state, supporting or undermining the entire system of governance. This system of governance is however open to notable modifications termed reforms, since administrative heads change, and every administrator has his/her style. In this context, Evans, (2008) cited in Sarah (2012), traced the account of CSR and broke it into three phases. The first phase took place in the 1980s. This period was characterized largely by donors supporting various aspects of institutional development realizing the civil service s crucial role in changing policy. After the collapse of Communism and the failure of many of the aid programmes of the aforementioned phase, the 1990s saw a growing consensus that the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Likewise, She has taught to be a kind, positive, selfless human being. Yes, having a dog may be challenging, stressful work, but in the end, it s all worth it. Ever since I was a little girl I have always wanted a dog. When I was about three, my cousins unexpectedly lost their chocolate lab, Bailey. I don t remember Bailey, but I do remember when they brought home a yellow lab puppy named Tess. The moment I laid eyes on Tess, it sparked something inside me and from that point on, I had a desire to one day have my own dog. I included a dog on my Christmas and birthday lists for five years, but every year I was left with disappointment. Nevertheless, my parents were warming up to the idea of having a dog, evaluating different breeds to try and find a fit for our family. Eventually, my parents took us to look at dogs, but none of them seemed to suit our needs. It was late afternoon on an enjoyable, mild June day at the baseball field. As we commenced our journey home I realized we were headed in the wrong direction. Where are we going? I asked, looking at my parents in confusion. As argued by Hawkes (2001, 3) A sustainable society depends upon a sustainable culture. If a society s culture disintegrates, so will everything else. A problem that was presented with The Johnny Cash Project was that it had a very small group of people that had to produce a lot of work. The men, Holly and Leo, are opposites in nearly every way; one is intelligent but physically repulsive, the other handsome but rather slow and boring. From the beginning, they are nicknamed Beauty and the Beast, and like Beauty and the Beast, Leo is admired by those around him while Holly is rejected and isolated. Between them is Ayesha, or She who must be obeyed: beautiful but dangerous, intelligent and devoted but destructive, all powerful but isolated by her power. At a time not long after Darwin published his theory of evolution, when it was (as it still is) a source of much debate and controversy, Holly s apelike appearance represents an even greater strike against him than mere ugliness. It implies primitiveness, and causes those around him to view him not just as an inferior human, but as an animal. He is, to them, truly a Beast. Perhaps the most important aspect of Holly s ugliness is not its mere presence, but the isolation it causes. He is treated as an animal by much of society, and as a result he harbors much bitterness towards the human race. He is especially bitter towards women, which is understandable given that nearly all women shunned him, and the only woman he ever loved rejected him. If I am Beauty, who are you? she said while showing him their reflection in the mirror. (8) This insult haunts him all of his life, and causes him to be extremely misogynistic until he meets Ayesha. Leo Vincey is Holly s adopted son, and the man with whom Ayesha falls in love. Recalling the day that he met five year old Leo, Holly says, I do not think I ever saw such a perfect child before or since (19). Narcissism Research Paper Introduction In this current society, an increasing number of people discuss one controversial debate everywhere: Are younger adults more narcissistic than previous people? In fact, when people select one side of this debate, they are supposed to know two essential questions: what is truly meaning about narcissism? How does this debate originate from? In general, Narcissism, originated from the Greek mythology, is used to describe the action or habit of someone s self complacence. Surprisingly, it has a totally different explanation in psychology. As Jean M. Twenge (2006) mentioned in her article named On Army of one: Me, Narcissism is one of the few personality traits that psychologists agree is almost completely negative. Narcissists are overly focused on themselves and lack empathy for others, which means they cannot see another person s perspective (para. 22). There are roughly twenty major hnRNPs which are readily found in large quantities in the nucleus and in some cases in the cytoplasm. hnRNPs are expressed throughout all tissues at different levels depending on the hnRNP (Kamma et al. 1994). hnRNP metabolic roles include polyadanilation, shuttling mRNA out of the nuclear envelope, telomere biogenesis and localization. (Dreyfuss et al. 2002). In particular, hnRNP A1 can acts an an antagonist to the SF2/ASF protein, which allows A1 to inhibitor exon splicing and cytoplasm bound transport of mRNA. An example of localization is hnRNP A2, which confers the dendritic mRNA transport of various transcripts when induced by neuronal activity (Muslimov et al. 2002). Role of hnRNP A2/B1 Brain plasticity and learning such as BDNF driven long term synaptic potentiation rely partly on the shuttling and translation of dendritic mRNAs. Large messenger RNA binding proteins such as hnRNP A2/B1 carry inactive dendrite bound mRNA via the microtubule cytoskeleton where they will be translated when they are activated at the synapse (Leal et al. 2014). Jakes is a bishop, therefore there is a copious amount of faith and biblical scripture woven into his writing, however he does maintain practicality as well. Jakes (2011) encourage single parents to not give up, despite their circumstance. These arrows; my children, are my defense. I believe that this is a powerful statement to abide by to counteract the negative stigma that often comes with single parenting. Many single parents+ usually see their mistakes and feel guilty, struggle with past hurts, and may feel at a loss when it comes to raising their kids. Firstly, one the most frustrating issues I had with the play, was the lack of development of the characters. Due to the entirely and having it set all in one day, many of the character were not quite developed enough. The Revolving Door Amanda Stevenson Dr. Woodiwiss PO 101 11 December 2015 ¬¬¬¬¬The Effects of the Revolving Door For five years, Mr. Larry Lavender served as the chief of staff for Representative Spencer Bachus on the House Financial Services Committee. In 2012, Lavender was recruited by a law firm representing JPMorgan, a banking and financial institution, and left the committee. Although this move disbanded his professional link to Bachus, the two still maintained a personal relationship, and Lavender also communicated with former colleagues without seeking any official favors or actions (Revolving Door). Because of the relationship between Lavender and Bachus and through efforts made behind the scenes, JPMorgan avoided testifying against one of their clients in the House of Representatives. This sequence of events illustrates what is referred to as the revolving door , which is a system that shuffles former federal employees into jobs as lobbyists, consultants and strategists . In this system, former public office holders become lobbyists because they already have relationships with people they have worked with or for in the past.
