Government Surveillance Report
The part of Dr. Christ s lecture that remained in my mind was his input on the topic of
surveillance. In fact when he mentioned that google is able to track us, I immediately opened my
phone and shut down the ability for google to track my location. My animation connects to Dr.
Christ s lecture in the sphere of surveillancewhile at first this doesn t seem to connect with my
project I will show you why. Notice when you were playing the game as you moved smug, the cat,
the ball followed. This is my way of showing governmentsurveillance. The ball reacting to smug s
movements serve as a metaphor for the way that the government is able to track us via google, our
phones and various other mechanisms. Also notice that you can trick the ball into going away
from smug. This trick is a metaphor for how people can encrypt information and use the dark web
to keep information away from the government. Also the ability to trick the ball into going in the
wrong direction serves as a metaphor for how the government is a massive inept bureaucracy that
struggles to complete even the most simple tasks with easy and swiftness.... Show more content on

Representing the people and their information. The ball represents the government, its ability to
track information and how it keeps surveillance on people. The most difficult part of the project
was trying to figure out how to make the cat reset if it came into contact with ball. Determining how
to do this took the most time of my entire project, about thirty minutes. For me the most fun part of
the project was actually playing the game. Specifically, I enjoyed tricking the ball into going into
the wrong direction thus making Smug s crossing much easier than it would have been without

Evaluation Of A Central Venous Catheter
In this paper, we will cover multiple things. I will cover what IV stands for, what peripheral
intravenous catheters are and what they are used for. I will even discuss sites for peripheral IV s.
I will explain what a central venous catheter is, what it is used for, and the types of catheters out
there. I will explain the procedure on how to insert one, how to change the dressing, the safety
guidelines to follow for insertion, and how to discontinue a central venous catheter. Discussion of
what a patient needs to know about having a central venous catheter is included. Equipment to

(MedlinePlus) There are many components regarding Intravenous Catheters. Peripheral Intravenous
Catheters
I will begin with talking about peripheral intravenous catheters. It is a tool within the hospitals or
care facilities to quickly provide medications, nutrition, and fluids through the blood stream.
(Peripheral) There are two types of methods for delivery. Continuous IV is for long term use and is
for replacement or maintaining fluids and electrolytes. Intermittent IV s are administration of
medications and supplement fluids. To maintain an intermittent IV, you use saline and heparin
locks so you don t have the need for continuous infusion. (Morris) Peripheral IV catheters are
strictly for short term use. (Potter) The most common sites for peripheral lines are in the arm, hand,
scalp of an infant. In more serious occasions you can use the veins in the leg (Morris) Central
Venous Catheters
Now I want to talk about vascular access devices. They can be catheters as well as ports and are
for repeated access. This includes central venous catheter, peripherally inserted central catheters and
implanted ports. (Potter) A central venous catheter is a way to provide medications, nutrition, fluid,
and blood products for a long period of time. The difference of a central venous catheter and
peripheral intravenous catheter is, the central venous is usually inserted in a vein that goes directly
to the heart. Also, central venous catheters

How Texting Has Brought Upon The Modern English Language
David Crystal s news article, 2b or Not 2b , address issues in direct contradiction to John Humphrys
article I h8t txt msgs: How texting is wrecking our language , which sought to bring to focus the
havoc that texting has brought upon the modern English language. Pointing out that, while texting
has been a change largely impactful on the English language it poses no threat and should not be
considered as such. Using examples throughout history to prove that abbreviations in wordand
language is something that has been used for centuries. Furthermore, Crystal explains that such play
on words provides a mental challenge, something that people must be adequately equipped with the
proper literary knowledge in order to regurgitate. This can... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Although there is much criticism directed towards millennials and younger generations when it
comes to texting, Crystals makes it clear that text like abbreviations have been used in English
for centuries. Acronyms such as LOL, LOML, BRB (laugh out loud, love of my life, be right
back) can be dated back to 1618 at the introduction of the term IOU in place of I owe you . The
history of abbreviations can be dated back to Anglo Saxon tribes. Humphrys argument poses
that texting poses a threat to literacy in our society, Crystal refutes this by giving examples of
how word alterations and abbreviations similar to that of texting have been used for centuries by
those with an adequate understanding of language for sake of brevity and creativity. In addition,
Eric Partridge published a Dictionary of Abbreviations in 1942. Containing many text like
examples, such as agn again , mth mouth , and gd good . Symbols and number in writing have
been used for a long while as well. There are called rebuses and they have been used since the
middle centuries to create puzzles, surnames, or conventional representation. Not only is the use of
these abbreviations that we see in texting something as old as the English language itself, the
criticism associated with is is also something that is as equally ancient. Crystal (2008) explains:
English has had abbreviated words ever since it began to be written down. Words such as exam, vet,

Trade in Alexandria: A Story Told on the Water
Serving as the capitol for the Ptolemaic dynasty, Alexandria was and is still located on the
Mediterranean coast of Egypt. It s positioning came from Greek inspiration, built as a central
location of commerce, maritime trade, and international business. Some of the goods shipped in
and out of the port included textiles, cosmetics and ointments, gems, papyrus, Egyptian glass,
grains, and spices. As one of the main trading hubs in the Ancient Mediterranean world, Alexandria
had a very diverse populace which consisted of Egyptians, Syrians, Romans and Greeks. As I
pointed out in my first paper, Alexandria became home to many ... Show more content on

As I stated in my first paper The regular flooding lets agriculture along the Nile thrive. With this
Egypt soon became the main source of grain for Rome with enormous ships regularly criss crossing
the Mediterranean. To help keep up with the demand and increase profits Ptolemy implemented
back home knowledge to his newly acquired territory. This is shown when Saad in Alexandria: The
Site the History, states:
When the Ptolemies had taken over the running of Egypt agriculture had been steadily declining.
Their application of Greek knowledge and science implied relatively sophisticated agricultural
methodology and as a consequence an increase in crops and harvests (122)
Agricultural production was also dependent on the water distribution and irrigation. To help
maximize crop production, men were required to spend a set amount of time cleaning the irrigation
systems of silt. Egypt continued to be the granary of Rome for many centuries. This is proven by
the text in Maritime Archaeology and Ancient Trade in the Mediterranean by Damian Robinson,
saying: Emperor Augustus put the army to work on clearing the silted irrigation systems of Egypt
as soon as he took control of the country in

Understanding And Managing Recreational Fisheries Within A...
Fishing is often seen as a recreational escape from work or daily routines, as it also meets the
basic human needs of nutrition. In the report, Illustrating the critical role of human dimensions
research for understanding and managing recreational fisheries within a social ecological system
framework, by Hunt et al., we look more closely at the management of recreational fisheries in
relation to the fishers themselves, and how it may influence the outcomes of the fisheries
ecological systems. In turn we see critical connections between the ecological and social systems,
which give us great feedback on a recreational fisher s actions and how we can better manage those
actions. In the report they focus on the coupling of fisher s behaviors... Show more content on

These give the researchers better information in regards to the connections and feedback between
the natural and human components of the recreational fisheries system management. In terms of
recreational fishing, using human dimensions research provides information about a fisher s
preference, behavior, attitude and wellbeing when it comes to the support of fisheries management.
Taking an in depth study of the fisher s views and opinions on policy and management issues can
better illustrate how fishers make choices for pursuing fishing among sites that may differ greatly
in their regulations and many other attributes. Being able to understand a fisher s evaluations on a
wide scale will better help human dimensions researchers interpret and predict their future
behaviors, which has become an important area of enquiry. Before, human dimensions researchers
studied a small scale of fishers and did not account for diversity; the new studies being conducted
do the exact opposite. L.M. Hunt et al. look at the fisher s evaluations in a much broader aspect. By
taking a deeper study into understanding fishers and what prompts their actions will better allow
human dimension researchers and biologists to make connections between the fishers and fish,
whereas they would otherwise solely focus on the fisheries biology. The

the book, they start to confront the vampireand get rid of the, but it turns bad. In this book there is
a lot going on that is supernatural. Something that is supernatural would be how there are

Set It Off Themes
Set It Off (1996) is an action packed, star studded film focusing on the lives of four African
American female friends in a tough inner city environment who are willing to go to any length,
including bank robbery, to escape the limitations and struggles of their gender, race, and
socioeconomic status. According to director Gary Gray, the filmis not so much about robbing banks
as choices young sisters make when their backs are against the wall (Gregory 1996, 56). While the
film has similar urban youth struggles found in many of the other ghettocentric films of the 1990s,
Set It Off distinguishes itself in the genre due to presenting a largely unique all star cast of

However, in contrast to the other exclusively male dominated and themed films also released in
the decade, when Set It Off was coauthored by Kate Lanier and Takashi Bufford in the early
1990s, it was intentionally grounded in close observation of the harsh realities faced by four
female friends living in Los Angeles, California. In an opening scene, Frankie is fired for having
a personal connection to a man who robs the bank where she is a bank teller even though she
clearly has no involvement in the robbery. Stoney s younger brother is later that evening
wrongfully gunned down by police at his own high school graduation ceremony when he is
mistakenly identified as being the same neighborhood friend who had earlier robbed Frankie s
bank. Because she is a single mother earning low wages and has no means to pay for childcare,
T.T. s young son is taken away by child protective services when the child is injured at her
janitorial job as soon as desperation forces her to bring him to work with her. Each of these
closely chronological events, most notably T.T. s necessity to obtain money for legal fees in
order to regain custody of her son, lead the foursome to form a pact to rob banks together. Cleo is
the only friend who appears to have no clear aspiration to leave their urban lifestyle.

Ancient Greek Olympic Games
Deidre Brown
Ancient Greek Olympic Games Well, there won t be any oxen dying in this year s games. Many
years ago, in 776 B.C., the first Olympic Games took place in Olympia, Greece. The Greeks made
the games in honor of their head God, the god of the sky, The Almighty Zeus. These games
continued for nearly 12 centuries until the emperor of Rome, Theodosius, stated that the games
were banned in 393 A.D. While the Olympics have changed over many years, most rituals have
stayed the same.
The Olympic Games had many rituals they followed every game. When you win a game, you will
receive an olive branch instead of a gold medal like in today s games. The olive branch was said to
be took off a tree that was planted by Hercules, the son of Zeus. The games were held every four
years, the same as today. On the first day, the Greeks would kill 100 oxen as a sacrifice to their
God Zeus. These oxen would later be eaten, on the final day, by all of the participants in the games.

Cloudstreet Character Analysis
Thrown together following two separate family tragedies, Tim Winton s Cloudstreet journeys
through the trials of the Pickles and Lamb families. In their misguided search for happiness, the
characters in Cloudstreet each engage in self destructive behavior. This fruitless search ultimately
becomes their greatest challenge. These catastrophic behaviors manifest uniquely in each character.
Whether through seeking independence, falling victim to addiction or deliberately separating
themselves from their families, Winton demonstrates how each character ultimately disconnects
themselves from their significant others in an effort to find contentment.
Cloudstreet becomes home to each of the family members, however, in a campaign for better things,

Social Darwinism And The Progressive Era
2.Already in the late 19th century, the American Federation of Labor had begun to represent a
growing segment of the American population discontented with the status quo of corporate
exploitation. At the onset of the 20th century however this message began to take particular weight,
as evidenced by the tripling of the AFL s membership and the rise of the Industrial Workers of the
World. Labor unions, the Socialist Party and progressives as a whole took issue with the doctrine of
Social Darwinism and moved forward as a somewhat united front with the goal of bringing
meaningful change to American society. As America made the transition into an industrial power in
the latter half of the 19th century, Social Darwinism became a prevalent method of rationalizing
massive inequality and widespread poverty. This doctrine of leaving the poorest in the nation to
uplift themselves from abject hardship without being provided any means to do so was exemplified
as the American population became increasingly concentrated in cities. Poor families would often
go without electricity or indoor toilets. Staggering inequality continued into the Progressive era. It
was estimated that J.P. Morgan s financial firm controlled 40 percent of all financial and industrial
capital in the nation. The largest conclaves of organized labor, the Industrial Workers of the World
and the American Federation of Labor, sought to tackle the stifling economic and political climate
through sharply contrasting

Oral storytelling in Sierra Leone has been a tradition for hundreds of years. Storytelling passes a

Zara is an international retailer that is continuously growing in popularity due to the store s trend

Their method is to have a limited amount of merchandise within the stores and replenish with new
styles and trends quickly so that nothing is sitting on the floor for too long, therefore having a
speedy product life cycle. Shoppers always have new products to choose from and that keeps the
sales in stores flowing.
Zara s vertically integrated supply chain management has had a great advantage on this retailer s
sales. The risk that other retailers take with trying to predict fashion trends a year in advance is
eliminated for Zara. Due to the store s rapid restocks of new designs every two weeks, customers
are introduced to the latest fashion trends. This is a trait that puts Zara above its competitors
such as H M and Gap. Zara possesses a very wide ranging merchandise assortment sold in stores
but produce a low quantity of garments so if an item does not sell as well as they had hoped, they
wont lose as much revenue as there is not as much stock to be discounted. This also allows Zara to
react quickly and analyze a fast response should the market change rapidly.
Beginning with basic fabric dyeing, nearly all of Zara s garments form in a design and
manufacturing center in La Coruna, with most of the sewing done by seamstresses from 400 local
co operatives. Designers collaborate with store managers regularly to determine which items are in
high demand and which items can be

Positive Role Models Are Those Who Possess The Qualities...
Positive role models are those who possess the qualities that I would love to have and even
improve on. They are those who have affected me in ways that make me want to be a better
person in ways such as volunteering in the community. They help me to advocate for myself when
I am falling short, help me on my steps to taking a leadership position, and even speak out on the
issues that I feel strongly about. I often don t tend to recognize positive role models until I have
noticed my own personal growth. Knowing that it really implies that it takes a positive role modelto
know one. Some positive role models are teachers, clergy members, counselors and even friends.
Throughout my life, I have had many teachers as positive role models. Some teachers teach right
to the tests while others show real world examples and even visit the places that we are learning
about and that is what stands out to me. Aubrey, my core teacher in Israel, really exemplifies this
and is very committed and an amazing role model that really stands out. Aubrey taught the core
curriculum I was a part of while studying in Israel. It is an intense study of Israel and 4,000 years
of Jewish history. It comprises of many things such as engaging classroom study and even life
changing trips to the sites where history took place. My classmates and I used Israel as a living
classroom to explore my heritage and would go back in a heartbeat. What really stood out was that
my teacher would sing, dance, skip, cheer

The Jungle Dbq
I aimed for the public s hearts, and by accident I hit it in the stomach. This quote was in response
to the reaction of Upton Sinclair s ground breaking exposГ©, The Jungle . On February 26, 1906
Sinclair shocked the Nation by exposing the horrors of slaughter houses and meat packing plants.
Thousands of people have died from foodborne illnesses. E coli, along with other diseases
resulting from filthy food processing was revealed as the murderer. As shocking as it might
have been back then, it is even more alarming to find out that conditions have not improved in
the last one hundred nine years. Food borne illnesses are still an extremely common occurrence.
People should not have to worry about whether their purchased food, food that was approved by
the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), is safe to eat. Consumers shouldn t have
to worry about tainted or dirty meat. Cleaner meat packing facilities and stricter meat regulation
on the part of the USDA should be a standard. Eating a burger should not have to be a life or
death situation. This is no fairy story and no joke; the meat will be shoveled into carts and the
man who did the shoveling will not trouble to lift out a rat even when he saw one. (Sinclair The
Jungle ). When it comes to having safe and approved food, our esteemed nation does not have the
greatest reputation. Ever since the use of slaughter houses and meat packing plants began, people
have been getting severely ill and even dying

As you look into the night sky, what do you see? Little bright dots that you can barely see?
Edwin Hubble invented the Hubble Space Telescope that helped scientists around the world
observe space. In this Essay, I will be covering who Edwin Hubble is, what exactly his
revolutionary telescope is, his key discovers, and also the implications of his discoveries.
Edwin Hubble was an American Astronomer and Scientist that lived from 1889 1953. As a kid he
began reading science fiction novels and fell in love. In 1906, Hubble attended the University of
Chicago where he studied law philosophy. He graduated three years later with a bachelor s degree
in jurisprudence. Not long after he decided to attend the University of Chicago once again and

In 1920, Hubble noticed a pulsating star with a Cepheid variable inside each one. He then
calculated how far away each Cepheid laid as well as how far to each nebula and discovered they
were too distant to be inside the Milky Way. Due to this, he realized that there indeed was galaxies
outside of the Milky Way. Lastly, Hubble discovered the Big Bang Theory. He studied ancient light
and concluded about 13.7 billion years ago nothing existed. All matter and energy in the universe
was compressed into an extremely small volume. 13 years ago it exploded and expanded in all
directions. The support to back this up is light from other galaxies and how the spectral lines
almost shifted towards the red end of the spectrum as red shift galaxies are moving away, making
Earth expand. Hubble s key discoveries have helped many scientists conclude exactly how our

Google And Bing s Search Tools
Title of Your Report
Google it! . No, but really, Google it.
After analyzing both Google and Bing s search tools, I ve come to the conclusion that Google just
has more to offer. The tool that stands out the most and gave the best results was the Verbatim
option under All results . When using it, Google will only display results specific to the user s
search term or phrase. For example, when I search Gerrymandering , no results containing
synonyms, similar terms, previously used websites, or words from the same stem will appear in my
results. When searching for a phrase such as Gerrymandering in Maryland , the verbatim tool will
only show the user results with that exact phrase. No results containing those words separated
should appear. Another great search tool Google has to offer is the Advanced search , found in
the upper right hand corner under the options button. This tool offers the user many ways to
narrow down their search to find the the exact result their looking for. Some Advanced search
allows users to search by language, region, last updated, file type, usage rights, site or domain
name, where the phrase appears on the site, ranging numbers, and exact words or phrases. This
tool is extremely beneficial to a searcher who knows exactly what they re looking for, but can t
find it in a general search.

The Importance Of Public Space
The term public space is used in reference to an area or place that is regarded as accessible to all,
irrespective of gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, age or socio economic background. These are
spaces where the public can come together for example parks and squares. Spaces that transit
communities around the cities are also regarded as public spaces as in pavements and streets. It is
usually a place in a particular physical location that creates social ties and it s referred about as an
urban setting. Public spaceas a concept has given rise to many intellectual discussions within a
variety of disciplines including politics, philosophy, sociology, literature, history, political science,
communication and architecture. Ever since the ancient Greek Agora people have been excluded
from public spaces. The Greeks banned women, slaves and those visiting the city from other
countries. In modern cities, we look to ban or make it difficult for groups that are felt would break
perceived codes of conduct within our public spaces. This has led to areas being designed with
defensive architecture, for example anti skateboarding devices. Also, in the UK the implementation

...History repeats itself (Garcia Lorca 169) was said in a comparison between Adela s mother and

wife, causing a deceitful marriage. Torvald once said ...happiness is not the question; all that
concerns us is to save the remains, the fragments, the appearance (Ibsen 63). Central to both plays,
pride is seen almost as a character. It sometimes holds characters back, while others it thrusts
stumbling forward. Always, however, its impact can be felt and its imprint can be seen.
The dominant characters in both plays are rulers of their domain. Bernarda self righteously rules
her household emphasizing pride and status. Even when her maid Poncia has valid opinions,
she does not listen. .... Work and keep your mouth shut. The duty of all who work for a living

guidance. However, Torvald is the ruler of a much smaller household. He wants his house to be
a place of discipline, order, and respect. As with Bernarda, dominance is based on pride. This is
revealed when he said, I would gladly work night and day for you...But no man would sacrifice his

than his own wife s happiness.

The Ottoman Empire Essay
The Ottoman Empire
Around 1293 the chieftain of a nomadic Turkish tribe named Osman, founded an empire that would
endure almost six hundred years. As this empire grew by conquering lands of the Byzantine Empire
and beyond, it came to include, at its height, all of Asia Minor, Albania, Greece, Bulgaria,
Yugoslavia, Romania, Egypt, Crete, Cyprus, Palestine, and North Africa through Algeria; parts of
Hungry, Austria, Russia, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Oman, U.A.E., and Syria. The elite tactics and

who had converted to Islam. They were brought up in the Janissary camp from about the age of

Most of the Janissary soldiers were in the cavalry. The cavalry was one of the main keys to the
Ottoman s many victories. The Janissary Corp s soldiers were paid with a regular salary now
that the country was established and taxes were collected. Orhan s [son of Osman, the founder of
the Ottoman Empire] capture of Bursa in 1324 provided the first means for developing the
administrative, financial, and military power necessary to make this principality into a real state
and create an army ( J. F. von Hamer Pugstall 773). The Janissary Corps were the most awesome

Child Labor And The United States
When one hears the term Child Labor , an image of children making low quality clothing in some
dingy third world sweatshop inevitably comes to mind. While this imagery is unfortunately
founded in fact, the third world is not the only area complicit with this heinous practice.
Truthfully, we, as a nation are also guilty of propagating this heinous practice. For over a century,
this nation s youth were subjugated to exploitation and abuse at the hands of captains of industry
in the hopes of extracting every ounce of profit they could. Fortunately, sympathetic individuals
recognized the children s need for advocacy and rose to their defense in the form of organized
dissent that appealed to the highest powers of this country to fight for those who could not fight
for themselves. In this paper, we will look at what exactly child laboris, the circumstances that gave
rise to the widespread acceptance of child labor usage, what working condition these children
experienced, and how the United Stateseventually made its use illegal.
What is Child Labor?
Child labor is historically defined as work that deprives children of their childhood, their potential
and their dignity, and that is harmful to physical and mental development (Hansan, 2013). Legally,
to be considered child labor, work must involve at least one of the following characteristics:
1.Violates a nation s minimum age laws
2.Threatens children s physical, mental or emotional well being
3.Involves intolerable

The Dangers Of The Standardization Of Education In Schools
In his great work of poetry titled In Memoriam A.H.H., Alfred Tennyson (1850) praises his
friend, Arthur Henry Hallam, for straying from the city because of the standardization it caused:
For ground in yonder social mill / We rub each other s angles down, / And merge he said in form
and gloss / The picturesque of man and man (39 42). In these lines Tennyson is drawing attention
to dangers of large cities and their tendency to make residents the same rather than valuing people
s unique qualities and ideas. Hallam, as Tennyson notes here, abstained from cities in order to
preserve his own ideas and creativity. He did not want to be a part of standardized society. This
fear of losing ones creativity is not unique to Tennyson s time. In fact, this is a current problem
within universities today. Educationhas become extremely standardized and leaves little room for
creativity and does not take into account a person s unique abilities, strength, or interests beyond
the offered majors. Students are prescribed a generic core curriculum and then required to take a
broad range of courses in their field of study. With the modern standardization of education and
prescribed course tracks, creativity is stifled in college, where students are bound by unnecessary
requirements r simply by the inability to study their areas of interest.
The effects of prescribed education are being felt by college students in today s society as the class
tracks laid out for them are too broad in scope.

The House Of Bernarda Alba Themes
Freedom and Repression: How opposing themes go hand in hand In the play by Federico Garcia
Lorca, The House of Bernarda Alba, a recurring theme throughout the play is freedom. Lorca
expresses freedom using characters, situations and objects. The characters in the story are
Bernarda s daughters who are under her control and have extremely little freedom and privacy by
being forced to abide by her rules. Freedom and Repression are most significant themes conveyed
throughout the play, the two opposing themes together are important to understanding both the
characters and the story as well. In the beginning of the play the girls are put into an eight year

Martirio once had a man interested in her but that opportunity was snatched away from her by

from Adela and Angustias. Martirio was repressed from her desire for freedom from her mother
and became jealous when her sister s were not denied in the same way. These two themes lead
the characters to believe that escaping one prison will make them free, only to be confined to
another. This is the situation the women in the play recognize as a inner conflict. An example
of this is on page 169 when Amelia says, These days a girl doesn t know whether to have a beau

from their sheltered home. Men represent freedom as well as repression. For Example, On page

Bernarda s daughters realize if they stay at home forever, they will be controlled by their mother,

Rhyme Scheme Of Sonnet
This poem is one of the many exceptional sonnets the writer, William Wordsworth has written in the
1800 s as he feels emotional and spiritual to nature. Sonnets are fourteen line poetic inventions
written mostly using the iambic parameter. This specific structure of the poem is a Petrarchan
sonnet or also known as the Italian sonnetdivided into two parts known as the Octave (first eight
lines of the poem) and a Sestet (last six lines of the poem). In this poem, the octave has a rhyme
scheme of ABBA ABBA and the sestet has a rhyme scheme of CDECED. This rhyme scheme with
no break between the stanzas shows a strong connection and gives of the impression that the poem
is organized and has harmony, as the speaker s main subject is nature in... Show more content on

Nowadays these words seem old fashioned: thou beauteous , o er , walkest , liest , thee ,
worshipp st . These words can also be found in the religious book of Christians called the Bible
which emphasizes the religious aspects nature has within itself. There is also a great deal of
comparison between Christians and nature displayed in the poem with the use of words such as
Abraham, Nun, heaven etc. The speaker also contrasts himself as a mere thinker to the little girl
who puts no effort at all but she is intimately linked to nature and its serenity. The poem is carried
out in a respectful and serious tones using words like holy time showing emphasis on religion and
God is with thee when we know it not also showing spirituality knowing there is a supreme being
that watches over us all, the tone could also be described as affectionate and gentle using the
words Dear and emphasizing it twice to show affection and care to this little girl and praises her
natural quality.
There is also a variety of figures of speech used throughout the poem: metaphor Thou liest in
Abraham s bosom comparing how blessed the young girl is God s court. Simile the holy time is
quiet as a Nun comparing the serenity and peace of that moment is like being in the presence of
Gods worship and a sound like thunder comparing the oceanic waves

John Barry Accomplishments
From captaining the American Navy s most prized frigates to being a man every sailor could
actively interact with, John Barry established himself to be an exceptional naval leader and hero.
He guided his ships and sailors through many successful battles which were key in the
establishment of the American Navy. Despite his great influence, Barry never put his personal
interests in front of the Navy s, and his dedication to the service centuries ago created the
dominant Navy and Marine Corps team present today. Because he was an expert and popular
mariner, a focused individual, and a naval visionary, John Barry was able to earn the title of Father
of the American Navy.
There are many skills that naval officers in Barry s age required. They all needed to navigate,
communicate, and perform other tasks essential to their position. Barry excelled in these areas, but
he also went far beyond. He was very popular among his seamen. The interaction he had with his
sailors was essential to his career because it earned him ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because of his experience he recognized a lack of administratively in the Navy, and because of
this, he was an advocate for establishing a Department of the Navy for the nation. This vision
became a reality years later, and it was a huge step towards organizing naval warfare. While
commanding the United States in the Quasi War, Barry established a naval academy on board his
ship. The make shift academy helped to prepare future naval officers, and it produced many
notable officers. Barry s experience allowed him to see the potential for sailors. In 1776, he
recruited Richard Dale to join the Navy as a midshipman. Dale was a part of the Loyalists, but
Barry saw potential for him to transform into a great officer for the American fleet. Barry was
right; Dale himself became a great leader. Barry s vision for the Navy and the sailors in it created

Mass Exterminations
evidence to show that Hitler had approved the plans for the Final Solution was received by
Heydrich in a letter from Reichsmarschall Göring in July 1941 which stated: The Führer has
ordered the physical extermination of the Jews. [29] Even following the Conference, during the
early stages of the exterminations, such as the experiments with gassing Belzec, and the
extermination efforts in the General Government, no official documentation has been found that
can be linked to Hitler himself. The statements that the historian can access today on record from
Hitler are forthright enough, as well as being extremely inflammatory, the historian can see that
there is a relationship between his brutal words and the enactment of brutal policies, but this only
provides the historian with assumptions, not hard evidence of Hitler s culpability. For example,
Hitler s prophecy on the 30th January 1939 represents, to some historians, a clear threat of
genocide, yet in his words there is no evidence that would suggest that the coming mass executions
were being planned in 1939. Hitler himself barely refers to it throughout 1940, and the first
evidence of mass exterminations that the historian can see begins in mid 1941. It is also uncertain
whether the annihilation of the European Jewry implied a clearly formulated desire for their
physical deaths rather than a complete removal of their presence and culture from within its
borders. [30] Hitler s rambling, inflammatory speeches were designed to raise nationalist fervour in
the listener, to give a scapegoat for them to bring their anger to bear on, but his... Show more

Why Evolution Is True By Coyne Summary
In his book, Why Evolution is True, Coyne proposes five predictions of evolution and introduces
the idea of retrodictions. Both his prediction of common ancestry in the fossil record and his
retrodiction of vestigial structures can be observed through the lineage of the modern whale.
Creationists can reject this prediction and retrodiction, yet there is enough information disprove
their opinion. The history of whales provides a comprehensive fossil record that presents sufficient
information to explain the prediction and retrodiction introduced by Coyne. It has been discovered
that modern day whales can be traced back many generations, and each one can be considered a
transitional form. Approximately 60 million years ago, a wolf sized mesonychid called a Sinonyx
possessed an elongated muzzle, an enlarged jugular foramen, and a short basicranium (____). The

Creationists have strived to present functions for structures scientist consider vestigial or deny
the existence of them entirely. For example, it is stated on the website Creation Today that there
is no fossil evidence for loss of legs in whales and when referring to hind limbs, is an example of
losing something, not gaining something. They go on to ask, How could losing something help
an organism evolve or be proof that they were evolving? As previously mentioned, there are many
transitional forms of whales, dating back 60 million years ago. These ancestors were capable of
walking, but because of environmental pressures this trait was no longer selected for, creating a
new species. Natural selection in this species, selected for more aquatic like traits, which caused
them to become more refined over time. Losing legs allowed the whales to become completely
aquatic creatures. Losing the hind legs and still having remnants of these structures is undeniable

An Evaluation On A Global Textbook
An Evaluation on a Global Textbook to Promote Indonesian Students Speaking Fluency
1.Introduction
There is undebatable fact that teaching materials plays a crucial role in defining a success and
failure of a classroom instruction (Zacharias 2005). Tomlinson (2001, 66) defines materials as
anything that can be used to facilitate learning of a language. In Indonesian context, although there
are many materials available, it is textbook that both teachers and students find it difficult to live
without (Zacharias 2005). However, with abundant textbooks, which claim to be the best among
others available on the market nowadays, the process of evaluating which one to use in the class
should not be taken lightly.
Derived from the necessity to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a result, it is essential to utilise a textbook, which can help teachers to promote the development
of students interaction to practice their speaking skills, while also still allow them to prepare
themselves for the exam.
Moreover, although globally published textbooks tend to receive negative attention by making
locally produce materials a stepchild in its own home (Zacharias 2005), many teachers still prefer
to use them. Among those global textbooks available, Life series claim to bring a new light in ELT
textbook market. Therefore, the aim of this study is to investigate the suitability of Life for
intermediate level to promotes Indonesian High School students speaking fluency.
The essay is divided into fifth sections. The first section of the essay discusses the way speaking
skills is taught in Indonesia, especially the issue that hinder Indonesian students from developing
good speaking skills. Explanation on the role of textbooks in promoting speaking fluency comes
second and followed by the description of the research methodology. This section of the essay
concerns on the reason behind the textbook selection and how evaluation process was carried out
by using Littlejohn s (2011) framework of textbook analysis. The next section of the essay describes
the finding from the evaluation, especially the first two levels of analysis. And finally, by using the
results, the fifth section discusses implication to answer the research question.

Mrs. Travis believes that mainstreaming can actually hinder the students that mainstreaming is
trying to help. Parents are now demanding segregated teaching environments wither it being
separate schools or exclusive classrooms. A teacher in Kingston was a big supporter

Letter For Adhd Essay
Dear Abby,
My husband and I just found that that our eight year old child was diagnosed with ADHD. He
was always a difficult child growing up, but lately he has become worse. We are guilty to admit
that we have been spectators about ADHD, and don t know how to rightly act in this situation.
Should we allow our doctor to prescribe the medication to treat my son s condition or should we
just wait until he grows out of this stage? We are scared however, that if we don t treat his
disorder right now, it will get worse when he gets older. Please explain what is medically right to do
for our child.

Dear Abby,
Recently my child has started throwing temper tantrums when we are out with our family.
Either we are at the park, my parents house, or anywhere with a large group of people, he has been

Changes in Technology and Changes in the Housing Design...
According to Bemis (1936) A new conception of the structure of our modern houses is needed,
better adapted not only to the social conditions of our day but also to the modern means of
production: factories, machinery, technology and research . Albert Bemis, US housing
manufacturer in the early twentieth century has a vested interest in using technology to advance
new concepts in the design of houses. Nevertheless he points to the important relationship of the
use of technology in the structural design of housing. However, it is difficult to estimate how far
changes in technology were responsible for changes in the design of housing as much of the
evidence that has been sourced argues that the social, political and economic environments... Show

In this essay it will be demonstrated that these elements unified with technology to create change
which impacted on changes in the design of housing.
Urban Concepts
Man s primary need has always been housing as shelter from the elements. Originally mud huts
were built where hunters were able to find animals for food and then more permanent dwellings
were built, using local materials, as the economy changed to agriculture. Later as populations grew
so different environments emerged with significant change in the urban form and fabric of
settlements. Housing was determined not only by available materials but also the cost of getting
them to the place of construction. Different places had different availability of materials and labour
which shaped the design of housing. Each technology therefore had an impact and was a common
thread unifying changes in housing in Athens, Paris and Chicago. From this it can be seen that
innovative technology continues to advance and cause significant social change that is, certain
urban characteristics flow inevitably from new technologies (Chant 1999).
By the fifth century the Greeks were distinguished by their art which concentrated on the human
form and architecture based on thought, order, rationale, proportion and space, and new intellectual

The Rise Of The Creative Class
Chicago Heights is located only about thirty miles away from one of the largest metros in the
United States. Yet it does not come close to the resources needed for it to be a successful city,
nevertheless, a creative one. But the city wasn t always relinquished from being prosperous. Back
in the late 70 s and early 80 s, there was no better place to be in then Chicago Heights. The
factories and businesses were booming, and the unemployment rates were declining. At least that s
how Elizabeth Fushi Peterson, teacher at Bloom High School, remembers it. I spoke with her
earlier last month in regards to Richard Floridas theory on the Creative Classand the idea of a
creative city.
In his book, The Rise of The Creative Class Revisited, Richard Florida introduces the Creative
Class as individuals who engage is work to create new forms (38). Florida s Creative Class
theory is that if the creative class was aware of how powerful they are, they could impact our
economy and our culture. In accordance to how Richard Florida explains who would be in the
Creative Class theory, Mrs. Fushi Peterson belongs to it. Yet she decided to move from a creative
city to Chicago Heights, a not so creative city. This contradicts Florida s ideas of a creative
lifestyle that is attached with the membership of being a creative. Which brings me to explore how
important location to creative individuals, and how cities try to attract the Creative Class members.

In fact when he mentioned that google is able to track us, I immediately opened my phone and shut down the ability for google to track my location. My animation connects to Dr. Christ s lecture in the sphere of surveillancewhile at first this doesn t seem to connect with my project I will show you why. Notice when you were playing the game as you moved smug, the cat, the ball followed. This is my way of showing governmentsurveillance. The ball reacting to smug s movements serve as a metaphor for the way that the government is able to track us via google, our phones and various other mechanisms. Also notice that you can trick the ball into going away from smug. This trick is a metaphor for how people can encrypt information and use the dark web to keep information away from the government. Also the ability to trick the ball into going in the wrong direction serves as a metaphor for how the government is a massive inept bureaucracy that struggles to complete even the most simple tasks with easy and swiftness.... The most difficult part of the project was trying to figure out how to make the cat reset if it came into contact with ball. (MedlinePlus) There are many components regarding Intravenous Catheters. Peripheral Intravenous Catheters I will begin with talking about peripheral intravenous catheters. It is a tool within the hospitals or care facilities to quickly provide medications, nutrition, and fluids through the blood stream. (Peripheral) There are two types of methods for delivery. Continuous IV is for long term use and is for replacement or maintaining fluids and electrolytes. Intermittent IV s are administration of medications and supplement fluids. To maintain an intermittent IV, you use saline and heparin locks so you don t have the need for continuous infusion. (Morris) Peripheral IV catheters are strictly for short term use. (Potter) The most common sites for peripheral lines are in the arm, hand, scalp of an infant. In more serious occasions you can use the veins in the leg (Morris) Central Venous Catheters Now I want to talk about vascular access devices. They can be catheters as well as ports and are for repeated access. This includes central venous catheter, peripherally inserted central catheters and implanted ports. (Potter) A central venous catheter is a way to provide medications, nutrition, fluid, and blood products for a long period of time. The difference of a central venous catheter and peripheral intravenous catheter is, the central venous is usually inserted in a vein that goes directly to the heart. How Texting Has Brought Upon The Modern English Language David Crystal s news article, 2b or Not 2b , address issues in direct contradiction to John Humphrys article I h8t txt msgs: How texting is wrecking our language , which sought to bring to focus the havoc that texting has brought upon the modern English language. Pointing out that, while texting has been a change largely impactful on the English language it poses no threat and should not be considered as such. Using examples throughout history to prove that abbreviations in wordand language is something that has been used for centuries. Furthermore, Crystal explains that such play on words provides a mental challenge, something that people must be adequately equipped with the proper literary knowledge in order to regurgitate. This can... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although there is much criticism directed towards millennials and younger generations when it comes to texting, Crystals makes it clear that text like abbreviations have been used in English for centuries. Acronyms such as LOL, LOML, BRB (laugh out loud, love of my life, be right back) can be dated back to 1618 at the introduction of the term IOU in place of I owe you . The history of abbreviations can be dated back to Anglo Saxon tribes. Humphrys argument poses that texting poses a threat to literacy in our society, Crystal refutes this by giving examples of how word alterations and abbreviations similar to that of texting have been used for centuries by those with an adequate understanding of language for sake of brevity and creativity. In addition, Eric Partridge published a Dictionary of Abbreviations in 1942. Containing many text like examples, such as agn again , mth mouth , and gd good . Symbols and number in writing have been used for a long while as well. There are called rebuses and they have been used since the middle centuries to create puzzles, surnames, or conventional representation. Not only is the use of these abbreviations that we see in texting something as old as the English language itself, the criticism associated with is is also something that is as equally ancient. Crystal (2008) explains: English has had abbreviated words ever since it began to be written down. Words such as exam, vet, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Trade In Alexandria Mark Dahlman McCarthy, Brendan History 2213 26 October 2014 Paper Three Trade in Alexandria: A Story Told on the Water Serving as the capitol for the Ptolemaic dynasty, Alexandria was and is still located on the Mediterranean coast of Egypt. It s positioning came from Greek inspiration, built as a central location of commerce, maritime trade, and international business. Some of the goods shipped in and out of the port included textiles, cosmetics and ointments, gems, papyrus, Egyptian glass, grains, and spices. As I stated in my first paper The regular flooding lets agriculture along the Nile thrive. With this Egypt soon became the main source of grain for Rome with enormous ships regularly criss crossing the Mediterranean. To help keep up with the demand and increase profits Ptolemy implemented back home knowledge to his newly acquired territory. This is shown when Saad in Alexandria: The Site the History, states: When the Ptolemies had taken over the running of Egypt agriculture had been steadily declining. Their application of Greek knowledge and science implied relatively sophisticated agricultural methodology and as a consequence an increase in crops and harvests (122) Agricultural production was also dependent on the water distribution and irrigation. To help maximize crop production, men were required to spend a set amount of time cleaning the irrigation systems of silt. Egypt continued to be the granary of Rome for many centuries. This is proven by the text in Maritime Archaeology and Ancient Trade in the Mediterranean by Damian Robinson, saying: Emperor Augustus put the army to work on clearing the silted irrigation systems of Egypt as soon as he took control of the country in ... In the report, Illustrating the critical role of human dimensions research for understanding and managing recreational fisheries within a social ecological system framework, by Hunt et al., we look more closely at the management of recreational fisheries in relation to the fishers themselves, and how it may influence the outcomes of the fisheries ecological systems. In turn we see critical connections between the ecological and social systems, which give us great feedback on a recreational fisher s actions and how we can better manage those actions. These give the researchers better information in regards to the connections and feedback between the natural and human components of the recreational fisheries system management. In terms of recreational fishing, using human dimensions research provides information about a fisher s preference, behavior, attitude and wellbeing when it comes to the support of fisheries management. Taking an in depth study of the fisher s views and opinions on policy and management issues can better illustrate how fishers make choices for pursuing fishing among sites that may differ greatly in their regulations and many other attributes. Being able to understand a fisher s evaluations on a wide scale will better help human dimensions researchers interpret and predict their future behaviors, which has become an important area of enquiry. Before, human dimensions researchers studied a small scale of fishers and did not account for diversity; the new studies being conducted do the exact opposite. L.M. Hunt et al. look at the fisher s evaluations in a much broader aspect. By taking a deeper study into understanding fishers and what prompts their actions will better allow human dimension researchers and biologists to make connections between the fishers and fish, whereas they would otherwise solely focus on the fisheries biology. According to director Gary Gray, the filmis not so much about robbing banks as choices young sisters make when their backs are against the wall (Gregory 1996, 56). • 13. Social Darwinism And The Progressive Era 2.Already in the late 19th century, the American Federation of Labor had begun to represent a growing segment of the American population discontented with the status quo of corporate exploitation. At the onset of the 20th century however this message began to take particular weight, as evidenced by the tripling of the AFL s membership and the rise of the Industrial Workers of the World. Labor unions, the Socialist Party and progressives as a whole took issue with the doctrine of Social Darwinism and moved forward as a somewhat united front with the goal of bringing meaningful change to American society. As America made the transition into an industrial power in the latter half of the 19th century, Social Darwinism became a prevalent method of rationalizing massive inequality and widespread poverty. This doctrine of leaving the poorest in the nation to uplift themselves from abject hardship without being provided any means to do so was exemplified as the American population became increasingly concentrated in cities. Poor families would often go without electricity or indoor toilets. Staggering inequality continued into the Progressive era. It was estimated that J.P. Morgan s financial firm controlled 40 percent of all financial and industrial capital in the nation. The largest conclaves of organized labor, the Industrial Workers of the World and the American Federation of Labor, sought to tackle the stifling economic and political climate through sharply contrasting ... Their method is to have a limited amount of merchandise within the stores and replenish with new styles and trends quickly so that nothing is sitting on the floor for too long, therefore having a speedy product life cycle. Shoppers always have new products to choose from and that keeps the sales in stores flowing. Zara s vertically integrated supply chain management has had a great advantage on this retailer s sales. The risk that other retailers take with trying to predict fashion trends a year in advance is eliminated for Zara. Due to the store s rapid restocks of new designs every two weeks, customers are introduced to the latest fashion trends. This is a trait that puts Zara above its competitors such as H M and Gap. Zara possesses a very wide ranging merchandise assortment sold in stores but produce a low quantity of garments so if an item does not sell as well as they had hoped, they wont lose as much revenue as there is not as much stock to be discounted. This also allows Zara to react quickly and analyze a fast response should the market change rapidly. Beginning with basic fabric dyeing, nearly all of Zara s garments form in a design and manufacturing center in La Coruna, with most of the sewing done by seamstresses from 400 local co operatives. On February 26, 1906 Sinclair shocked the Nation by exposing the horrors of slaughter houses and meat packing plants. Thousands of people have died from foodborne illnesses. E coli, along with other diseases resulting from filthy food processing was revealed as the murderer. As shocking as it might have been back then, it is even more alarming to find out that conditions have not improved in the last one hundred nine years. Food borne illnesses are still an extremely common occurrence. People should not have to worry about whether their purchased food, food that was approved by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), is safe to eat. Consumers shouldn t have to worry about tainted or dirty meat. Cleaner meat packing facilities and stricter meat regulation on the part of the USDA should be a standard. Eating a burger should not have to be a life or death situation. This is no fairy story and no joke; the meat will be shoveled into carts and the man who did the shoveling will not trouble to lift out a rat even when he saw one. (Sinclair The Jungle ). This fear of losing ones creativity is not unique to Tennyson s time. In fact, this is a current problem within universities today. Educationhas become extremely standardized and leaves little room for creativity and does not take into account a person s unique abilities, strength, or interests beyond the offered majors. Students are prescribed a generic core curriculum and then required to take a broad range of courses in their field of study. With the modern standardization of education and prescribed course tracks, creativity is stifled in college, where students are bound by unnecessary requirements r simply by the inability to study their areas of interest. The effects of prescribed education are being felt by college students in today s society as the class tracks laid out for them are too broad in scope. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These two themes lead the characters to believe that escaping one prison will make them free, only to be confined to another. This is the situation the women in the play recognize as a inner conflict. An example of this is on page 169 when Amelia says, These days a girl doesn t know whether to have a beau or not. Additionally, On page 208 Adela says, I can t stand this horrible house after the taste of his mouth. I ll be what he wants me to be. [29] Even following the Conference, during the early stages of the exterminations, such as the experiments with gassing Belzec, and the extermination efforts in the General Government, no official documentation has been found that can be linked to Hitler himself. The statements that the historian can access today on record from Hitler are forthright enough, as well as being extremely inflammatory, the historian can see that there is a relationship between his brutal words and the enactment of brutal policies, but this only provides the historian with assumptions, not hard evidence of Hitler s culpability. For example, Hitler s prophecy on the 30th January 1939 represents, to some historians, a clear threat of genocide, yet in his words there is no evidence that would suggest that the coming mass executions were being planned in 1939. Hitler himself barely refers to it throughout 1940, and the first evidence of mass exterminations that the historian can see begins in mid 1941. It is also uncertain whether the annihilation of the European Jewry implied a clearly formulated desire for their physical deaths rather than a complete removal of their presence and culture from within its borders. Later as populations grew so different environments emerged with significant change in the urban form and fabric of settlements. Housing was determined not only by available materials but also the cost of getting them to the place of construction. Different places had different availability of materials and labour which shaped the design of housing.
